Bran Nue Dae The Secret River By Tim Winton
Thesis: how reading and viewing of different texts has broadened my understanding of the world and
how identity is a virtual tool which can empower individuals to excel in one way or another.
Erik Erikson once said, In the social jungle of human existence, there is no feeling of being alive
without the sense of identity . This is a unique quote which can help us individuals to understand the
broader world and how identity is exceptionally important. The text studied in class this year have

Describe 3 features of the structure or organization shared by all three of these types of muscle that tell
you that these tissues ought to be classified as muscle. These should be features found in all types of
muscle but not in any other tissue.
Muscle tissues all have elongated cells.
5. Now compare 3 features of the structure or organization of all three types of muscle that make them
different from each other and easy to identify. You need to describe THREE features and compare
them in ALL types of this tissue. Be sure to compare specific features you have observed as they
appear in all three of these tissues.
The appearance of their cells are all different. Skeletal are unbranched and parallel, smooth are spindle
shaped, and cardiac are branched and connected. They also vary in striations. In skeletal, they are
present and obvious. There are no striations in smooth. The striations are in cardiac but are very faint.
Their nucleus are also different. Skeletal have more than one nucleus. Smooth have just one nucleus
and cardiac varies.
Note: Since this is an exercise based on what you can observe in a microphotograph your descriptions
should involve structure only and not function or location, since these are not observable in these
images. If you use notes or other information from the web site, text, or other resources, be sure you

5 Solutions That Will Prevent High Bounce Rates On Your Hospital s Website
Firms are taking advantage of the digital revolution world over. However, the health industry has been
slow to take up the digital opportunity. Many others that have gone online are stuck in low traffic or
high bounce rate. The inability to come up with innovative ways to get the patients to interact with the
hospital website leads to several missed opportunities. A recent survey shows that more than sixty
percent of the interviewed patients would like to communicate with their physicians with any form of
digital platforms. However, less than forty percent of hospitals are able to achieve any level of
interaction.

Dissection Alternatives Essay
Dissection Alternatives
Dissection in science classrooms is an experience that almost every student has to go through, but one
that many will regret. It is estimated that six million vertebrate animals are dissected in high schools
each year, and another 5.7 million are used in college laboratories. The issue of educational dissection
has become a national concern. Many groups such as PETA and The Humane Society have been
lobbying for years to outlaw such practices, and implement new and safe dissection alternatives.
Alternatives to dissection have become more popular in recent decades and may be the future of
modern science and education.
A dissection alternative is defined as an educational aid or teaching approach that replaces ... Show

They ruled that under her First Amendment rights Jennifer could object to the dissection on moral
grounds, and therefore could not be forced to participate. Jennifer s high school then instated a student
choice policy so that students who chose not to participate in dissections would be offered a viable
alternative. Now there are seven states that have informed consent laws regarding classroom
dissection: Florida, California, Maine, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Rhode Island, and New York. These
laws require that students must be informed of a dissection lab at the beginning of a course, and if they
wish, will be provided with an alternative. There are also two states where it is mandatory that
students are provided with dissection alternatives: Maryland, and Illinois.
There are also several nations that have banned educational dissection from their science curriculums.
Argentina was the first in 1987, followed by Slovakia (1994), and Israel (1999). And in 2001, India
banned the use of mice, rats, and frogs for any type of dissection purposes.
The main issue with statewide dissection laws is that they only apply to elementary, middle, and high
schools. Colleges and Universities are not required to follow each state s policy. This can create many
problems. At one particular University, the student choice policy for dissection may very from
department to department or even from teacher to teacher. This can be very confusing and

The Transnational Nature Of Migration In Robert Smith s...
Robert Smith s Mexican New York explores the transnational nature of Mexican migration through an
extended cast study of migrants and their children from Ticuani, in Puebla, Mexico. This book covers
the many ways that migration influences social, political, and economic pattern in both New York and
Mexico. Smith begins by describing how Ticuani has been transformed by migration, changing the
town into a sort of holding place for the very young and the very old. Next, he discusses how Mexican
migrants fit into the racial, ethnic, and economic hierarchies in New York. I found the discussion of
Mexican/Puerto Rican relationships particularly interesting because I was reminded of the

Sale Attachment of Property in Execution Decree
Chapter I
Introduction Research Methodology
1. Introduction:
The passing of a decree by a competent court conclusively determines the rights of the parties with
regard to all or any of the matters in controversy in the suit, thus creating substantive rights in favour
of the decree holder. However, lately it has been seen that instead of following the terms and
conditions of the decree, judgment debtors have been placing a number of obstacles in the way of a
decree holder. In fact, such a trend has become so prevalent that it has forced the Supreme Court to
opine that the difficulties of a litigant begin when he has obtained a decree .
Conscious of the significance and importance of giving effect to the decree and orders passed ... Show

It is merely an irregularity. An order of attachment takes effect from the moment it is brought to the
notice of the court. Rule 54 provides for the attachment of immovable property and the procedure for
the proclamation of such attachment. The object of Rule 54 is to inform the judgement debtor about
the attachment so that he may not transfer or create encumbrance over the property thereafter.[2]
The code enumerates properties to be attached and sold in execution of a decree.[3] Likewise, it also
specific properties which are not liable to be attached or sold.[4] It also prescribes the procedure
where the same property is attached in execution of decrees by more than one court.[5] The code also
declares that a private alienation of property after attachment is void.
In Ghanshyam Das v. Anant Kumar,[6] while dealing with the provisions of the Code of Civil
Procedure relating to the execution of decrees and orders, the Supreme Court had stated that the Civil
Procedure Code contains elaborate and exhaustive provisions for dealing with the question of
execution of decrees. More specifically, Section 51[8] of the Code of Civil Procedure enumerates in
general terms the various modes of execution of a decree, one amongst which is the attachment of the
property of the judgment debtor. Procedure enumerates in general terms the various modes of
execution of a decree, one amongst which is the attachment of the property of the judgment debtor.

U.s. Federal Aid Programs
In recent years, the federal aid system has tripled in numbers in over 25 years. Some federal aid
programs can range from a giant billion to a more obscure prams such as $15 million. In the
beginning, federal aid programs would require other states to match the federal funds on a dollar for
dollar basis. There was initial struggle when the federal aid system began to expand many believe that
it would be difficult to opt out of new federal aid programs. Thus, it left residents with requirement to
continue to pay federal taxes in order to support the federal aid spending.
The Florida Department of Children and Families provides services and assistance to a group or to an
individual who may need income, and resources for their families. The Temporary Cash Assistance
program is contingent on determining eligibility for temporary assistance. Yet, due to the federal and
state restrictions does not count such as ineligible noncitizens or suctioned individuals. It is a Florida
law and requirement that state agencies offer detailed budget recommendations.
The state of Florida has been limited to amount of spending to about $140 million of federal cash. For
example, the federal cash would be reimbursed yearly towards the cost of foster care and residential
group housing. The funds will increase by 3 percent a year and can assist and fund parenting classes to
tutoring for children in care. Therefore, with a five year pilot program, the funds would be available

California s Gas Prices Overpriced
California s Gas Prices Overpriced California since the gold rush has been known as the Golden State
where it s flooded with multicultural richness from the beaches to the mountains. California today is
the most densely populated state with 38.8 million residents and is still rising, however, not only is the
population ever increasing so are gas prices. Allysia Finley an editorial writer from The Wall Street
Journal states, The national average is $2.76 a gallon, while the Golden State drivers pay $3.88. Eco
virtue is expensive (Finley 1). Gas prices in California has left an effect of overpriced due to many
contributing factors: regulation over the environment, overconsumption, and how rational people think

However, mostly these regulations have affect only those small refineries drastically to the point of a
shut down and let only the big and powerful industrial companies take over and collect more profit.
Jennifer L. Brown author of The Market Effects of Going Green states, Additionally, trends in industry
concentrations during the time period reformulated gasoline regulation compliance appear to have
favored large refiners as small refiner market share decreased and industry concentration increased
simultaneously from 1997 to 1999 (Brown 126). Meaning that regulations in California can be visible
from the 90 s and have slowly increased, yet unnoticed to the public until now. While these large
corporations have slowly eliminated its small rivals and maintain more of the power of the market in
gasoline. Which later can have an effect of market failure.
Multiple solutions to California s problem have a rise in order to prevent a long run effect or a market
failure. For instance, Tom Steyer a billionaire environmentalist has proposed an oil extraction tax.
However, adding another tax can lead into two directions. First, if it becomes a corrective tax to
corporations it can correct their actions, and take account of the social cost. Which leads to low prices
for consumers, and at the same time protect the environment because the seller will have the incentive
to reduce low pollution. Or it can create

How To Analyze Films Essay
Did you know it is more to film broadcasting than just visible viewing it? The ability to analyze films
implicates closely examination of cinematography. Cinematography refers to the process in film of
lighting a shot and achieving quality in the visual images that are captured. The cinematographer in
any film is also known as the director of photography and may be either an artist or a technician. It is
this individual who is responsible for ensuring that the images appearing on screen are presented to
reflect the mood or the emotional effect and the style seen by the film director, producer, and writer as
essential to conveying its meaning. The director of photography works closely with the director and
interprets the action of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Boggs Petrie p. 9) One aspect of eliminating impartiality is to view a film in its proper environment.
Try selecting an environment that is attractive and comfortable; preferably a theater with modern
stadium seating and the upmost quality projection and audio sound equipment. As comfort and sound
plays an immense role in how well we appreciate an experience. While viewing films try to restrain
your comments and thoughts. Take mental notes and discuss them at a later time with others who
shared your cinematic journey. As restraining your comments and thoughts avoid passing bias and
negative viewpoint onto others.
The basic approach to analyzing films as a whole is to keep in mind that when we are watching a film
we cannot freeze for analysis. We have to concentrate on the interactions of image, sound, and motion
that are present. In addition we have to accumulate impressions of the film effectiveness and maintain
some degree of objectivity and critical detachment. Viewing films more than once usually help our
analysis becomes easier. Another asset is to view in selective screen segments that exemplify the
purpose and the interrelationship. Regardless of which option: single viewing, double viewing, or
breaking the film into segments, one can virtually use the same

Jesus s Love Through Servant Leadership And Compassion...
Nicholas Smith
Relational Dynamics
Mr. Bauer
December 8, 2015
Jesus Love Jesus expresses love through servant leadership and compassion for others. He heals others
and makes sure to lead by example, and serve his followers. He expresses all types of love except for
eros.
Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either
romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God. As I explored the definition by means of
the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same
basic understanding. The definition I found in was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers
to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined
by one word and that it love.
The definitions of love are the same and yet different. Godly, for instance is the love of God, and your
devotion and respect toward him, the creator. In all religion, god carries the same aspect. Fraternal
love is the love of ones family and relatives, even the love of one who is close to you, in that respect,
such as a friend. Then there s romantic love; a love between two people, which I consider to be both
intimate and sexual. Older dictionaries and encyclopedias usually refer to the romantic aspect of love,
as the love in which is experience between man and woman. In today s society it is said that romantic
love can be found regardless of your gender and based on

The Importance Of STEM In Education
What is STEM? Despite the growing push for STEM, it is not well understood; there is little
consensus about what it is, how to integrate STEM into classroom instruction, and how STEM
learning can be assessed (Brown et al., 2011; Huntley, 1998; Pitt, 2009). Stakeholders who are
interested in promoting STEM are often confused by the construct. These stakeholders include
government officials who are funding STEM initiatives, teachers who are expected to teach STEM,
parents, businesses who need to invest in their future employment, and students (Breiner et al., 2012).
Although many studies have shown that teachers recognize the importance of STEM education,
educators do not consistently agree or understand what STEM education should be like in K 12
education (Wang et al., 2011). In a study by Brown et al. (2011) less than half of the teachers and
administrators correctly defined STEM as education involving science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics. Brown et al. (2011) mentioned that this may be an overestimate given that (a) some
participants did not understand the meaning of STEM and used the Internet to research it and some
teachers and (b) administrators revealed that they chose not to participate because they did not know
about STEM. Even higher education faculty who are involved in STEM projects had varying
definitions or conceptualizations of STEM (Breiner et al., 2012). Many of these faculty members
conceptualized STEM as individual STEM disciplines,

Industrial Sectors Of Northern Ireland And The Republic Of...
An instrument in which governments use as a method to intervene in international trade and
investment as mentioned earlier are tariffs. A tariff is a form of tax established on foreign goods and
services, which are imported. Tariffs are generally used to restrict international trade, as they increase
the price of imported goods and services which as a result, makes those commodities more expensive
to consumers. Also, a tariff can be exactly like a quota, which will be discussed later, if, permitting the
same import volume, the domestic output and prices are identical under the alternative trade policies
(Fung, 1989). By restricting trade of imported foreign goods and services through tariffs but
increasing the costs, it provides protection to domestic producers against the foreign competitors. As
seen from the experience from the Irish case study of a comparison between the industrial sectors of
Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to examine the effects of protection on industries
specialization and trade, tariffs can play a major part in an industry s and its surrounding industries
performance (McAleese, 1977). Governments employ the use of tariffs for many reasons; firstly, they
could be protecting domestic employment because as the competition of imported goods that threaten
domestic industries increase, it could cause these domestic firms to fire workers or even shift
production abroad to cut costs to stay competitive. Governments can also apply a

Essay The Mexican Maquiladoras
The Mexican Maquiladoras
As a major contributor to the global economy, Mexico s sweatshops have contributed to the United
States wealth and economic growth. It is the unfortunate truth that many individual workers have
suffered as a result of this prosperity. The sweatshops, known as maquiladoras, are in debate because
of the ethical and lawful reasoning behind their existence and conditions. How can we, as a First
world nation, allow such industries to exist where people are denied basic and fundamental human

However, I do not think that it is difficult for the companies that relocate to Mexico to understand
what they are doing; in essence, they relocate these transnational corporations to Mexico in order to
save money and make more profits. It is also difficult for Western women to identify themselves
outside the consumer identity; therefore, as Mies and Shiva have established the importance of finding
common ground , it is difficult for many women to obtain this. Often, Western women cannot find any
relation between themselves and the women of Third World countries. In their book Ecofeminism,
Mies and Shiva establish the difficulties associated within the search, or lack of a search, for common
ground between First World and Third World women. Some women, however, particularly urban,
middle class women, find it difficult to perceive commonality...between themselves and different
women in the world....the one always considered superior, always thriving, and progressing at the
expense of the other. (Mies and Shiva, p.5) Therefore, as Mies and Shiva have underlined, it is
difficult for many women to see their own ties and connections to recognize the producer vs.
consumer relationship, and as a result, the exploitation of other countries. A feminist s response to the
United States role in the creation of the free trade zones and the maquiladoras is as follows.

Evaluation Of A Clinical Evaluation Essay
With the continuous changes in healthcare, evaluation of students clinical knowledge and skills relies
on the need for continuous evaluation. Evaluation is the process of using data to make judgements
about students individual performance. Evaluation of clinical performance provides data from which
educators use to judge the extent to which students have acquired specific learning outcomes (Billings
Halstead, 2016). With the use of best practice evaluation methods, clinical performance can be
evaluated to ensure quality patient care. Educators face a challenging task when providing evaluation
that is fair and reasonable. Tasked with evaluating students in the clinical setting, educators can
evaluate how students integrate theory and apply it to real life situations. Observations of performance
in the clinical setting should focus on the outcomes to be met and competencies to be developed
(Oermann Gaberson, 2014). Developing a clinical evaluation tool to determine whether students can
think critically, prioritize problems, and complete patient care procedures correctly is essential. There
are a variety of evaluation methods to use in nursing education. Depending on the learning outcomes
to be measured will determine which tool best evaluates the students performance. Clinical practice is
an essential and highly significant component of nursing education. Education programs are obligated
to respond to government requests for well educated healthcare professionals.

The Double Complications Of Explorary Protocols
A minor critique concerning the model is the double representation of the total population size in the
set of explanatory variables, namely individually and included in the CINC measure. This
multicollinearity can lead to biased estimators of the dependent variable. A similar analysis is dealing
with the question whether the content of various human rights conventions and the costs associated
with their ratification will influence state s decision to join the treaty in the first place (Cole, 2005, p.
472) .On the one hand, associated costs are the costs occurring with harmonizing policies and
practices with the treaty provisions. On the other hand, there are the reputation costs occurring in the
case the terms of the treaty are violated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This holds true especially for new democracies as these often maintain some dubious human right
practices at the beginning of their transformation. Furthermore, a strong civil society, measured in its
citizens membership in international nongovernmental organizations (INGOs), has a negative effect
on the ratification of covenants with strong enforcement mechanisms. This follows logically from
INGOs role as monitors of human rights treaties and their thrive to hold to account the violators. If the
INGOs are more embedded within a country, it is easier for them to detect potential violations; this is
anticipated by the state and consequently the rate of ratification decreases (pp. 490, 491). Considering
the Clash of civilization approach, the analysis renders no support. Communist regimes were just as
likely as democracies to participate in both human rights treaties, namely the political and economic
rights covenants (p. 492). The question posed in the article s title, whether states relinquish their
sovereignty by joining such treaties, can be answered with no. Participation is voluntary. Therefore,
rational states will only sign treaties with which they would comply anyways and which do not
impose additional cost on them. Hence, further research should rather focus on potential legitimacy
costs arising from not signing such treaties (p. 492). Regarding the reputation costs resulting from
violating the treaties terms, literature does not reach consensus.

Boo Radley Courage
What some people think of courage is doing something without having fear. Others see courage as
standing up for something that you believe in. Harper Lee takes both of these definitions and use them
in her writing. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses the children, Boo Radley, and
Atticus Finch to demonstrate that courage is more than being brave, but also standing up for what you
believe in despite the risk and sacrifice. From the beginning of the novel to the end the children
improve and expand on courage with Boo Radley. The children show courage of touching the house
but also on how courage grows throughout the book about Boo and what he truly acts like. This is
exemplified when Lee wrote, Jem threw open the gate and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Harper Lee shows this when him and Scout walk to Boo s house. Will you take me home? He almost
whispered it, in the voice of a child afraid of the dark (319). From this readers can see that he is very
gentle and not at all like the children initially made him out to be. Harper Lee also shows that Boo put
himself from danger to save the kids. From saving their lives to Scout thinking escorting me down the
sidewalk (319 320) Boo puts his life in danger. Boo could have been put in the spotlight whether
people are thanking him for what he did or critical of his intentions. Lastly, Boo could have gone to
court and lose his freedom. With almost losing your life there are others that also showed courage but
not by saving people but for standing up for a black man s

Rocky The Golden Retriever
When a rabbit is involuntarily taken into a home with minimal notice and insufficient means to
prepare, grievance can be expected to an extent. However, in the case that the rabbit was taken from a
home of tranquil cats and placed into one of chaotic dogs, total objection is warranted and granted.
Each pet has earned their own God given right to feel safe and loved in their home. In this event,
Penelope (Penny) the rabbit requests separation from the dogs of the Guyer household on the grounds
that those individuals are a source of stress and potential emotional and physical harm for her. Thus
far, Penelope has tolerated the excessive size of Rocky the golden retriever.
He is far too excitable and has nearly trampled Penelope on many occasions.
He lacks control of his own body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He chases Penelope into her cage when he mistakes her binkies for a game, causing her extensive
stress and engaging her predator recognition instincts.
After silent pleas to her humans and obvious distress around the dogs, there has been no improvement
in the living situation. The only solution to her appeals is to keep Penelope encaged more often, thus
keeping her separate from the dogs. This solution only causes the rabbit more stress and
dissatisfaction as she is deprived from the exercise and recreation she requires. Should Penelope
continue to have interaction with the dogs or be fixed into her cage for extended periods of time, she
will have increased stress levels, poor health, and a shortened lifespan.
I, therefore, as Penelope s caretaker and voice, appeal to both the dogs, Rocky and Sammy, and the
owners of the Guyer household, Jeremy and Amy, for Penelope to be allowed free reign of a dog free
space and unlimited exercise for the sake of her physical and mental well being. I stand in solidarity
and support of the humble rabbit and pledge my time, heart, life, and fortune to such a

Review Of The Elder Scrolls
Another Bethesda game and yes, it is great! Okay, I will elaborate my opinion; Bethesda makes lots of
great role playing (RPG) games with open world environments. Although, I never could understand
why Bethesda likes to kick off their amazing voice actors off the face of the Earth. I m pretty sure if
Bethesda was able to cast Mel Blanc and James Earl Jones as voice actors they would probably be
either Gordon Freeman or Link. In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, they kill off Patrick Stewart in
addition to that we get ten minutes of Liam Neeson in Fallout 3. This game has a gripping and
expansive showcase of how much depth and great excitement can be packed into one videogame. It
does justice to the rest of the Fallout franchise, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like Red Dead Redemption, I would recommend the Game of the Year Edition since you get the most
of the game. Along with that similarity, Fallout also has a slow motion mechanic called the Vault Tec
Assisted Targeting or V.A.T.S. system, where you are able to pick what part of the target s body like
head, body, limbs or weapons to shoot off. The gameplay is solid and the story is decent, it is best to
ignore most of the story because of it being a pretty bland story telling, but I would recommend
reading the story and the newspaper through the land to give the game character.
NITPICK CENTER: Straight off the bat of Fallout 3, you are giving the trauma of the game s
opening, in which you are dumped bleary eyed and bloodstained straight out of the womb. Then the
game expects you, a newborn baby, to come up with a gender, name, and future appearance. I
personally find it rude to put that much pressure on a baby. Then the story goes Christopher Nolan by
skipping parts of your life. Afterwards, your father, Liam Neeson, ditches you and leaves the vault you
have been living in your entire life. Being motherless since your mom died giving birth and Liam
Neeson ended up like Picard, you are also fatherless. Then when the protagonist is ready to step out in
the real world, the immersion breaks when the game says, Hey, are you satisfied with your first ten
minutes of the game because if you aren t just step into this DeLorean and travel back to the past? I

Love s Labor s Lost
Love s Labor s Lost (1598) by William Shakespeare shows a humorous battle of the sexes among
members of the aristocracy. While this battle may seem like a harmless game of wits on the surface,
there is a serious lack of authentic communication that underlies this comedic play, which spells
trouble for male and female relations in general. Through insincere words, vows, and writing, both
sexes men especially show a failure to love and communicate genuinely.
This battle of the sexes, at least superficially, does not seem to have much at stake. The men do have
vows to keep, but they are easily worked around once the men realize that they are all in love. After
these vows are dismissed, the men enjoy this battle as a game more than ... Show more content on

On one hand, Berowne s apparent sorrow shows his willingness to take the oath seriously. However,
on the other hand, if Berowne truly loved Rosaline, it is perplexing that he should love the worst of
all, describing her eyes as two pitch balls stuck in her face. This is not a flattering description at all,
and if Berowne feels this way about Rosaline, it is not clear as to why he has trouble keeping his vow;
it is almost as if Berowne is more interested in the performance of love than the beloved herself. It
also likely has to do with the fact that Berowne does not want to follow the oath, and is looking for a
way out and it would seem that this is true for the other men as well. When the men look to Berowne
for reassurance after breaking their oaths, Berowne says of swearing off women, We have made a vow
to study, lords, / And in that vow we have forsworn our books (Shakespeare 4.3.292 293). Berowne
makes the argument that they are supposed to be studying, and that studying is impossible without
being able to look at a woman s beautiful face. This argument is tenuous at best, but it does the job,
because the men would take any excuse to allow them to forsake their oaths. It is quite interesting that
the men are willing to break one vow to swear another namely, the vow to love the

Social Workers And Substance Abuse
Field of Practice
Social workers who work in the area of substance abuse concentrates on specific clients that have an
addiction problem and those who are abusing different drug substances. Social workers who are
working and dealing with cases of substance abuse can help clients on their journey to rehabilitation
by being supportive, offering encouragement, and making the path to restoration a slightly easier.
Social workers in this field use their knowledge and abilities to comprehend the needs of the client in
relation to their substance abuse problems. The social worker measures the client to understand the
severity of the substance abuse in order to know how to deal with the client. Social workers
experienced in substance misuse and addiction often work as part of a team with other specialists,
particularly licensed alcohol and drug therapists, doctors, and nurses.
The NASW states that, Many states require alcohol and drug certification in order to work in
concentrated dependence treatment settings (nasw.org). The NASW provides a general overview on
how social workers practice in the field of substance abuse and their goals. The National Association
of Social Workers states that, By developing and pertaining evidence informed methods that include
proven interventions and evolving procedures based on developing research findings, social workers
can evidently improve treatment amenities for clients and their families. This methodology to service
delivery demands that

The Death Of An Individual
As seen throughout the assigned readings and videos from this semester, for many cultures and
religions, the death of an individual is not quite the end. There are still many things done after the
death, from preserving the body to never even mentioning that deceased individual s name again. Life
styles tend to influence death styles. Religious beliefs are the primary way to understand how societies
frame the explanation, grief management and societal impact of the loss of an individual. In the case
of death, although the focus is on the dead individual the function of certain rituals is to help survivors
by allowing the group a time out period after which the group must deal with a new normal . Before
the turn of the century, death usually took place in the home (DeSpelder, Strickland, 6). A coffin was
built that was then set up in the parlor of the home. Friends, acquaintances, and other relatives would
come to the family s home to view the body and share in the act of mourning. Children even
sometimes slept in the same room as the corpse! Each person learned about death first hand. In some
cultures, such as in Indonesia, the family keeps their dead relative s corpse in the house with them as if
they were still alive. Now, in modern times, our participation in the rituals surrounding the dead is
minimal. It is often stated by anthropologists that the dominant feeling of the survivors is that of
horror at the corpse and of fear of the ghost (Malinowski, 19).

event planning knowledge! I was an integral member of the Science Frosh Sponsorship team,
especially when it concerned acquiring the funds and equipment for the most successful frosh of 2016.
While I do not have any new ideas pertaining to Science Games, I have one idea that may make the
Hype Night more successful. When it comes to Power Hour, everyone enjoys being covered in beer,
but no one enjoys the clean up afterwards especially the staff of Cafe Campus. Even less so if you
must wade through a conglomerate concoction of beer, mixed drinks (for celiac inclusivity, of course),

Family means nobody gets left behind (or forgotten). I came to McGill University from a high school
environment that was not particularly inclusive, but frosh taught me how to further involve my peers
to have an even better experience. Whenever one is in a group setting, it is important to make sure
everyone feels welcomed without damaging the social structure of the current group context. In other
words, it isn t right to let one person in attendance sit out and feel unwelcome, but it is also not very
fair to divert attention away from other people just to attend to the newcomer. Inclusivity means
effective integration, not special attention. I believe the best way to positively incorporate these values
would be to make the concept of inclusivity more available to the participants. Chants and subjection
to drinking are only fun if the person wants to participate in that particular event. Inclusivity during
science events is easy (especially in regards to alcohol) if everyone recognizes the opt in environment,
i.e. alcohol is an opt in activity, not one you have to opt out

How Rural Slaves Lived And Worked On Brazilian Sugar...
Throughout the 16th century, as there was a demographic collapse of the indigenous population, there
was now a new demand for slave labor in Latin America. In Brazil, the Portuguese needed a large
workforce to cultivate sugar plantations. As a result, numerous slaves from Africa were imported to
work on large plantation fields. In various plantations, rural slaves experienced harsh working and
living conditions. Few slaves had a high life expectancy. Robert Edgar Conrad in Children of God s
Fire, shares some primary sources that dealt with the types of environments and conditions many
slaves faced and encountered in Brazil. The sources also gave insight into the regulations and
economics/business of the slave trade. Conrad states that rural Brazil was a hell for blacks (Conrad
54). Many slaves dealt with extremely harsh conditions just to keep the European market in Latin
American growing and profitable. This paper will analyze how rural slaves lived and worked on
Brazilian sugar plantations.
To start, in Brazil the Portuguese become convinced that full scale exploitation of the land was
imperative for the safety of their entire overseas empire. Sugar cultivation was the ideal crop to
guarantee the existence of a profitable colony. As a result, the Portuguese dominated the Atlantic slave
trade. Various slaves from different parts of Africa were brought to Brazil and experienced difficult
working and in living in Brazilian sugar plantations and that only slaves

Deferred Maintenance Is Defined By Kaiser ( 2009 )
The topic of this paper is the use of public private partnerships to address deferred maintenance needs
on campus. Deferred maintenance is defined by Kaiser (2009) as maintenance work that has been
deferred on a planned or unplanned basis to a future budget cycle or postponed until funds are
available. This backlog of maintenance to physical plant is an issue for nearly all public higher
education institutions. Kaiser (1996) contends that deferred maintenance constitutes a genuine threat
to higher education institutions and their ability to accomplish their mission. The deteriorating
conditions of facilities can put universities at a disadvantage vis à vis other regional institutions in
regard to attracting and retaining students, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several years of delays in repairs has led to deterioration in some campus buildings that has caused
permanent damage. In assessing the best way to address the issues with maintenance, it has been
determined that the most cost effective and efficient way to proceed is through reconstruction since
the cost of repairs will add up to be about equivalent to the cost to rebuild some structures.
Considering that the institution has suffered financial losses over the years in other areas due to
deferred maintenance, this change is relevant because it has the ability to save the university money
over a long period of time. In addition, it puts the institution in a position where it can be aesthetically
and operationally competitive with its opposition.
As a means to make a incremental changes, while also being intentional about the campus scheduled
maintenance plan, it has been decided that ten buildings will be contracted out to a building
maintenance company every five years. The objective of this plan is to relieve the institution of the
financial responsibilities of small and large building maintenance projects and avoid the liabilities
associated with maintenance of campus buildings temporarily. This allows the institution to fully focus
efforts on developing curriculum and contributing the students experience in other ways.
After a period of twenty years in which the buildings are managed by the contracted maintenance
company, the institution will resume

Our prosecution team is charging the President of Uganda,...
Our prosecution team is charging the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, with human rights
abuses, corruption and war crimes. The actions of Yoweri Museveni have had a vast negative effect on
Uganda and its neighboring nations. Countless numbers of Ugandans have already suffered under
Museveni s leadership. By the 1980 s Museveni s government began to directly affect the population
by being unable to fund some of the basic utilities that are a necessity to the people of Uganda such as
roads, railways, and power plants. Uganda has the economic potential with its thriving agriculture,
however because of political instability, Uganda is the most destitute and least developed African
country. Museveni has not only been hurting Uganda s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Development Limited (UVDL) was involved in this scandal and procured employment where women
were raped, beaten, and tortured by their employers. (Chan). The service companies like the UVDL
are continuing to abuse their employees because Museveni has given them no fear of repercussion
from the Ugandan government. If human rights into Uganda is going to improve, purging these
companies from Uganda is going to need to be the first step. Uganda has also illegally entered the
Congo on the hunt for natural resources. Uganda invaded into the Congo and was responsible for
killing hundreds of people and the extraction of wealth and resources from the Congo, and therefore,
the Congolese people. Numerous human rights groups have noted that Ugandan forces have blatantly
exploited Congolese wealth for their own benefit and that of their superiors at home. (Nampewo). The
conflict in Uganda has begun to spread to neighboring countries, such as the Congo creating more
conflict just to be able to economically support itself. The more Museveni causes Uganda to suffer, the
more he tries to take from. In the near future, Uganda will be extremely unstable financially and
politically. Several countries, such as Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands, have been imposing
trade embargos with Uganda because of its corruption, and other

The Importance Of Blood Flow In The Circulatory System
The circulatory system is an important organ system that circulates blood throughout the body in an
effort to transport nutrients and maintain homeostasis. In mammals, the heart is a vital part of the
circulatory system that pumps blood through blood vessels around the body. Blood circulation through
the heart begins with deoxygenated blood entering the right atrium at low pressure from the body. The
deoxygenated blood is then pumped to the right ventricle through the atrioventricular valve. From
there, the blood is pumped out of the right ventricle at high pressure to the lungs through the semilunar
valve. In the lungs, gas exchange occurs where carbon dioxide is released to the alveoli and oxygen is
absorbed by the blood. The oxygenated blood then leaves the lungs, enters the left atrium at low
pressure, and is pumped to the left ventricle where it is pumped back out to the rest of the body at high
pressure. Blood flow in the circulatory system is very important and is assessed by examining blood
pressure. Blood pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries every time
the heart pumps blood. There are two types of blood pressure: systolic and diastolic. As the heart
beats, blood forced through the arteries cause a rise in pressure, called systolic pressure (Department
of Integrative Biology, 2017). Following this rise in pressure, a decrease in pressure as the ventricles
relax and prepare for another beat is called the diastolic pressure

It is estimated that six million vertebrate animals are dissected in high schools each year, and another 5.7 million are used in college laboratories. The issue of educational dissection has become a national concern. Many groups such as PETA and The Humane Society have been lobbying for years to outlaw such practices, and implement new and safe dissection alternatives. Jennifer s high school then instated a student choice policy so that students who chose not to participate in dissections would be offered a viable alternative. Now there are seven states that have informed consent laws regarding classroom dissection: Florida, California, Maine, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Rhode Island, and New York. These laws require that students must be informed of a dissection lab at the beginning of a course, and if they wish, will be provided with an alternative. There are also two states where it is mandatory that students are provided with dissection alternatives: Maryland, and Illinois. There are also several nations that have banned educational dissection from their science curriculums. Argentina was the first in 1987, followed by Slovakia (1994), and Israel (1999). And in 2001, India banned the use of mice, rats, and frogs for any type of dissection purposes. The main issue with statewide dissection laws is that they only apply to elementary, middle, and high schools. Colleges and Universities are not required to follow each state s policy. However, lately it has been seen that instead of following the terms and conditions of the decree, judgment debtors have been placing a number of obstacles in the way of a decree holder. • 11. Jesus s Love Through Servant Leadership And Compassion... Nicholas Smith Relational Dynamics Mr. Bauer December 8, 2015 Jesus Love Jesus expresses love through servant leadership and compassion for others. He heals others and makes sure to lead by example, and serve his followers. He expresses all types of love except for eros. Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God. As I explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined by one word and that it love. The definitions of love are the same and yet different. Godly, for instance is the love of God, and your devotion and respect toward him, the creator. In all religion, god carries the same aspect. Fraternal love is the love of ones family and relatives, even the love of one who is close to you, in that respect, such as a friend. Then there s romantic love; a love between two people, which I consider to be both intimate and sexual. Older dictionaries and encyclopedias usually refer to the romantic aspect of love, as the love in which is experience between man and woman. In today s society it is said that romantic love can be found regardless of your gender and based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Importance Of STEM In Education What is STEM? Despite the growing push for STEM, it is not well understood; there is little consensus about what it is, how to integrate STEM into classroom instruction, and how STEM learning can be assessed (Brown et al., 2011; Huntley, 1998; Pitt, 2009). Stakeholders who are interested in promoting STEM are often confused by the construct. These stakeholders include government officials who are funding STEM initiatives, teachers who are expected to teach STEM, parents, businesses who need to invest in their future employment, and students (Breiner et al., 2012). Although many studies have shown that teachers recognize the importance of STEM education, educators do not consistently agree or understand what STEM education should be like in K 12 education (Wang et al., 2011). In a study by Brown et al. (2011) less than half of the teachers and administrators correctly defined STEM as education involving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Brown et al. (2011) mentioned that this may be an overestimate given that (a) some participants did not understand the meaning of STEM and used the Internet to research it and some teachers and (b) administrators revealed that they chose not to participate because they did not know about STEM. Even higher education faculty who are involved in STEM projects had varying definitions or conceptualizations of STEM (Breiner et al., 2012). • 15. Industrial Sectors Of Northern Ireland And The Republic Of... An instrument in which governments use as a method to intervene in international trade and investment as mentioned earlier are tariffs. A tariff is a form of tax established on foreign goods and services, which are imported. Tariffs are generally used to restrict international trade, as they increase the price of imported goods and services which as a result, makes those commodities more expensive to consumers. Also, a tariff can be exactly like a quota, which will be discussed later, if, permitting the same import volume, the domestic output and prices are identical under the alternative trade policies (Fung, 1989). By restricting trade of imported foreign goods and services through tariffs but increasing the costs, it provides protection to domestic producers against the foreign competitors. As seen from the experience from the Irish case study of a comparison between the industrial sectors of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to examine the effects of protection on industries specialization and trade, tariffs can play a major part in an industry s and its surrounding industries performance (McAleese, 1977). Governments employ the use of tariffs for many reasons; firstly, they could be protecting domestic employment because as the competition of imported goods that threaten domestic industries increase, it could cause these domestic firms to fire workers or even shift production abroad to cut costs to stay competitive. Evaluation is the process of using data to make judgements about students individual performance. Evaluation of clinical performance provides data from which educators use to judge the extent to which students have acquired specific learning outcomes (Billings Halstead, 2016). With the use of best practice evaluation methods, clinical performance can be evaluated to ensure quality patient care. Educators face a challenging task when providing evaluation that is fair and reasonable. Tasked with evaluating students in the clinical setting, educators can evaluate how students integrate theory and apply it to real life situations. Observations of performance in the clinical setting should focus on the outcomes to be met and competencies to be developed (Oermann Gaberson, 2014). Developing a clinical evaluation tool to determine whether students can think critically, prioritize problems, and complete patient care procedures correctly is essential. There are a variety of evaluation methods to use in nursing education. Depending on the learning outcomes to be measured will determine which tool best evaluates the students performance. Clinical practice is an essential and highly significant component of nursing education. Education programs are obligated to respond to government requests for well educated healthcare professionals. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This holds true especially for new democracies as these often maintain some dubious human right practices at the beginning of their transformation. Furthermore, a strong civil society, measured in its citizens membership in international nongovernmental organizations (INGOs), has a negative effect on the ratification of covenants with strong enforcement mechanisms. This follows logically from INGOs role as monitors of human rights treaties and their thrive to hold to account the violators. If the INGOs are more embedded within a country, it is easier for them to detect potential violations; this is anticipated by the state and consequently the rate of ratification decreases (pp. 490, 491). Considering the Clash of civilization approach, the analysis renders no support. Communist regimes were just as likely as democracies to participate in both human rights treaties, namely the political and economic rights covenants (p. 492). The question posed in the article s title, whether states relinquish their sovereignty by joining such treaties, can be answered with no. Participation is voluntary. Therefore, rational states will only sign treaties with which they would comply anyways and which do not impose additional cost on them. Hence, further research should rather focus on potential legitimacy costs arising from not signing such treaties (p. 492). Regarding the reputation costs resulting from violating the treaties terms, literature does not reach consensus. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Harper Lee takes both of these definitions and use them in her writing. This is not a flattering description at all, and if Berowne feels this way about Rosaline, it is not clear as to why he has trouble keeping his vow; it is almost as if Berowne is more interested in the performance of love than the beloved herself. • 28. The Death Of An Individual As seen throughout the assigned readings and videos from this semester, for many cultures and religions, the death of an individual is not quite the end. There are still many things done after the death, from preserving the body to never even mentioning that deceased individual s name again. Life styles tend to influence death styles. Religious beliefs are the primary way to understand how societies frame the explanation, grief management and societal impact of the loss of an individual. In the case of death, although the focus is on the dead individual the function of certain rituals is to help survivors by allowing the group a time out period after which the group must deal with a new normal . Before the turn of the century, death usually took place in the home (DeSpelder, Strickland, 6). A coffin was built that was then set up in the parlor of the home. Friends, acquaintances, and other relatives would come to the family s home to view the body and share in the act of mourning. Children even sometimes slept in the same room as the corpse! Each person learned about death first hand. In some cultures, such as in Indonesia, the family keeps their dead relative s corpse in the house with them as if they were still alive. Now, in modern times, our participation in the rituals surrounding the dead is minimal. It is often stated by anthropologists that the dominant feeling of the survivors is that of horror at the corpse and of fear of the ghost (Malinowski, 19). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the 16th century, as there was a demographic collapse of the indigenous population, there was now a new demand for slave labor in Latin America. In Brazil, the Portuguese needed a large workforce to cultivate sugar plantations. As a result, numerous slaves from Africa were imported to work on large plantation fields. In various plantations, rural slaves experienced harsh working and living conditions. Few slaves had a high life expectancy. Robert Edgar Conrad in Children of God s Fire, shares some primary sources that dealt with the types of environments and conditions many slaves faced and encountered in Brazil. The sources also gave insight into the regulations and economics/business of the slave trade. Conrad states that rural Brazil was a hell for blacks (Conrad 54). In assessing the best way to address the issues with maintenance, it has been determined that the most cost effective and efficient way to proceed is through reconstruction since the cost of repairs will add up to be about equivalent to the cost to rebuild some structures. Considering that the institution has suffered financial losses over the years in other areas due to deferred maintenance, this change is relevant because it has the ability to save the university money over a long period of time. In addition, it puts the institution in a position where it can be aesthetically and operationally competitive with its opposition. • 34. The Importance Of Blood Flow In The Circulatory System The circulatory system is an important organ system that circulates blood throughout the body in an effort to transport nutrients and maintain homeostasis. In mammals, the heart is a vital part of the circulatory system that pumps blood through blood vessels around the body. Blood circulation through the heart begins with deoxygenated blood entering the right atrium at low pressure from the body. The deoxygenated blood is then pumped to the right ventricle through the atrioventricular valve. From there, the blood is pumped out of the right ventricle at high pressure to the lungs through the semilunar valve. In the lungs, gas exchange occurs where carbon dioxide is released to the alveoli and oxygen is absorbed by the blood. The oxygenated blood then leaves the lungs, enters the left atrium at low pressure, and is pumped to the left ventricle where it is pumped back out to the rest of the body at high pressure. Blood flow in the circulatory system is very important and is assessed by examining blood pressure. Blood pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries every time the heart pumps blood. There are two types of blood pressure: systolic and diastolic. As the heart beats, blood forced through the arteries cause a rise in pressure, called systolic pressure (Department of Integrative Biology, 2017). Following this rise in pressure, a decrease in pressure as the ventricles relax and prepare for another beat is called the diastolic pressure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
