Jimmy Valentine A Retrieved Reformation
The short story A Retrieved Reformation is an interesting story about a man named Ralph D.
Spencer or known as Jimmy Valentine. The story is about a safe cracking man who goes to jail.
The man who wrote this book was actually in jail while writing this. He published his stories
under the name O Henry . Most of his stories have unexpected endings. By looking at O Henry s
A Retrieved Reformation one can see that the truth about Jimmy Valentine a safe cracker is really
not that bad at heart. Jimmy Valentine, a very smart criminal, who cracks safes for a living. He
gets out of jail within three months. (Pg 42). He outsmart the security and takes a turn in the story.

To What Extent Does One s Culture Inform The Way One Views...
To what extent does one s culture inform the way one views others and the world?
Have you thought of someone s culture as weird? Have you thought that you are completely
different from them? If so, what prompts us to make that assumption. Culture is a very good reason
for this. So, to what extent does one s culture inform the way one views others and the world?
Culture informs a person on the way others are and the world. Culture is what defines a specific
group of people. The customs, beliefs, arts, and social institutions of a race or specific group shape
the perspective of a person in that group. Culture is what is known of a group of people. This how
to differentiate different people from one another other than race and ethnicity.

The speaker introduces the first aspect of their relationship and points to a possible reason for
its death when he admits sometimes she loved me too. In the eighth line, he points out that he
remembers kissing her again and again under the endless sky as a sky is endless as he wishes
their relationship would be. Later we see a turnabout of the 6th line as how it occurs in the 9th
line when Pablo states she loved me, sometimes I loved her too . He may be offering a doubtful
statement of the nature of their love, it also shows that he s trying to distance himself from all the
memories. Immediately then he admits how could one not have loved great still eyes
Through lines 11 14 Neruda again repeats his opening line which is showed to be a sad abstain,
that line shows to people how the poet is struggling his lovers distance. To think that I do not have

How Did Emily Dickinson s Life Influence Her Poetry
Emily Dickinson Her Life and Poetry
Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born December 10, 1830, into an influential family in Amherst,
Massachusetts. Her father helped found Amherst College, where Emily later attended between
1840 and 1846. She never married and died in the house where she was born on May 15, 1886.
Emily Dickinson s reclusive life was arguably a result of her proposed bi polar disorder. This life
and disorder unduly influenced the themes of her poetry. She chose not to associate herself with
society and volumes of her poems, published posthumously, examine this idea as well as the
themes of nature and death. The clearest examples of these themes are presented in the following
analysis of just of few of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem conjures images of a solemn ceremony in which the soul reigns superior by shutting out
everyone, including the emperor, similar to the shutting out of everyone that Dickinson did. In one
of Dickinson s most famous poems, I heard a Fly buzz, the theme of death is presented as well as a
symptomatic characteristic of bi polar disorder. The poem itself epitomizes her preoccupation with
death and the macabre and also shows how the small, normally ignorable sound of a fly buzzing
becomes the only thing heard, she magnifies this sound in a situation when it seems that everything
else is much more important, but this inability to drown out extraneous noises is typical of
someone suffering from manic depression. The form of this poem employs all of Dickinson s
formal patterns: trimeter and tetrameter iambic lines, her specific use of the dash to interrupt the
meter of the poem, and it is in ABCB rhyme scheme.
Two of Dickinson s universal techniques are metaphor and the fresh application of language; both
techniques result in powerful images, and can be seen in two of her poems that focus on nature
themes, A Bird came down the Walk and narrow Fellow. She closes the poem, A Bird with a stanza
equating flight through the air with movement through water,

The Effect Of Fast Track System On Emergency Department...
Introduction In this paper I will discuss efficacy of fast track system in emergency department
across Ontario, that will influence patient satisfaction, and also identifies practices that can be used
in the Emergency Department. It also provides ways of promising strategies to help Emergency
Departments address patient satisfaction issues more effectively. Each hospitalcan identify critical
issues and processes and choose strategies to support local needs. By introducing the fast track
process in a hospital, it caters for the patients who have critical conditions and can be attended to
within a very short period. It ends up reducing the extensive waiting time in the emergency room
and improves the flow of the patients who come through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fast track system can be employed at various stages to check for potential outcomes and other
implementations in the healthcare industry. On the operation stage, the system can be used to
analyze the various outcomes of patient flow study. At the strategic stage, fast track system can be
used to monitor the financial gains of an organization and evaluate its commercial health. On the
national stage, it can be used to observe the government programs that address the reduction of
wait time for the patients in the ED s. At the operational stage, it aims to present a concrete
analysis of an ED that exists within a fast track system. Introducing the fast track system was
meant to reduce the wait times in the ED (Yoon, 2003). Reducing the time would allow the increase
of the numbers of patients who come in, get treated, and discharged. It ends up increasing the
efficiency and effectiveness of the ED. Increasing the effectiveness and its capacity makes it
possible for more patients to be examined and treated because there is more time in the system. For
example, at the Grand River Hospital, there are several initiatives that are already in place that are
targeting to reduce the staying duration of the patient in the ED. These initiatives include having
nurse practitioners in the emergency department, having a specific fast track area, emergency
medical rules that permit nurses to start on

Ethical Ramifications Of Cloning
Cloning has been around since 1952 when Robert Briggs and Thomas King externally fertilized
and developed a leopard frog using somatic cell nuclear transfer. Though scientists had discussed the
need for communication about the ethical ramifications of cloning since as early as 1972, it was
not until the successful cloningof a sheep named Dolly in 1997 that cloning came to the forefront of
scientific and societal discussion. As a result of the continuity of fast paced scientific discovery, the
issues surrounding cloning of both animals and humans remain a hot topic, with people divided on
both sides of the controversy.

The Three Branches Of Government Essay
The Three Branches of Government In 1787 the leaders of the united states gathered to write the
constitution which they also divided into three branches to ensure a central government in which
no group or individual gains too much control. The three branches consists on the following
Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. Legislative branch rejects or confirms presidential
appointments, and also has the authority to declare war. The power of the Executive branch is to
carry out and enforce laws. It includes the president, the vice president, the cabinet, independent
agencies, executive departments, commissions, committees, and other boards. The last branch that
is the Judicial branch interprets the meaning of laws, decides if laws violate the constitution, and
applies laws to individual cases. Article I of the United StatesConstitution created and empowered
our legislative branch of government. The legislative branch is made up of the two houses of
congress the Senate and the House of Representatives. As I mention on the introduction the most
important duty of the legislative branch is to make laws. The laws are written, discussed, and voted
in the congress.
There are 100 senators in the Senate, two from each state. Senators are elected by their states and
serve six year terms. The Vice President

What Is Privacy Or Improper Use Of Privacy
Concerns about privacy emerge when use of cellphones or improper use of social media gets
out of hand. Based on the article by Nancy Spector and Dawn M. Kappel, breach of privacy or
confidentiality against patients are the most egregious errors that nurses can make when
posting on social media (Spector Kappel, 2012). All patient information must be kept
confidential because everyone has the right to be treated with both dignity and respect. Any
violation of a patient s privacy whether intentional or unintentional is a serious act that must be
addressed immediately. It does not only damage the nurse s credibility and relationship with the
patient, but also affects the overall quality of care given. Additionally, nurses and other
healthcare professionals may face disciplinary action, drastic consequences, and/or legal charges
once held accountable. I have decided to pick scenario #3 as my scenario ending. It describes
how I went on Facebook during my day off and talked about the night when I had to work and
did not really feel as bad because I personally met the lead singer Jerod from the concert that I had
missed. After taking his photograph, I carelessly posted his picture on Facebook and Instagram
thinking that no one would recognize him in the first place. Not realizing the consequences of my
actions, I would find, in retrospect, that I was sightless of the possible harm that I m about to
inflict on my patient. The dangers of using Facebook and/or other social media

Meredith s life over eleven thrilling seasons, exposing her relationships, family affairs, and love

with a variety of different people. Meredith Grey is daughter to Ellis and Thatcher Grey (or so we
think). She was born and raised in Seattle where the show is primarily based. Seattle is also
home to Seattle Grace Hospital a place where lives are constantly put on the line, and thinking on
your feet comes with the territory. Seattle Grace was also where Meredith s mother completed her
surgical residency. With that said, after taking some time and deciding what she wanted to pursue
in terms of a career, Meredith ultimately decides to go to medical school, and follow in her

The Scientific Reasoning Behind Seatbelts
Motion is how everything in the universe moves, movement of the solar system never stops and
is constantly moving but at a very slow speed. There are three laws in motion that explain
movement, they are the Newton s three laws of motion named after Isaac Newton. The Newton
s first law states that an object that is a rest will stay at rest unless an outside force is acted upon
it and an object that is in motion will stay in motion unless an outside force is acted upon it. This
is also called as inertia , which means the property of an object to restrict its motion. Examples
of inertia would be when a car is driving at a constant speed and instantly stops the person will
fall forward if there is no seatbelt. The seatbelt is a safety device that is commonly found on car
seats and aircraft seats, it is made from strong durable materials such as fabric, nylon or
polyester. Cars that are manufactured are required to have seatbelts due to road safety laws. The
law was introduced in the 1970s, it was shown that having seatbelts reduced the amount of road
deaths. The seatbelt was invented by George Cayley in the 1800 s, the seatbelt appeared on
planes in the 1900 s but was later developed to a three point seatbelt by Nils Bohlin. The purpose
of seatbelts is to save lives during a sudden stop of movement. The seatbelt was designed to
restrain the person from forward motion that may occur in a collision or a sudden stop. Wearing a
seatbelt is the simplest way to reduce death or

The Idea And Theory Of Followership
Introduction to the Literature The purpose of this chapter is to analyze available followership
literature to identify established and acceptable definitions and attributes of followership. The
idea and theory of followership has been around for centuries. Aristotle once said, Who would
learn to lead must, as men say, first of all learn to obey (Aristotle, 1895). Since the mid 1900s
researchers conducted specific studies on followership, beginning with E. P. Hollander and Wilse
Webb s study Leadership, Followership, and Friendship: An Analysis of Peer Nominations where
they assess the validity of peer nominations (1953). Interest in the study of followership
increased in the 1980s and 90s. However, followership became an independent field when
Robert Kelly and Ira Chaleff each published books with followership in their titles (Crossman
Crossman, 2011). Kelly s The Power of Followership: How to Create Leaders People Want to
Follow and Followers Who Lead Themselves and Chaleff s The Courageous Follower: Standing
up to and for our Leaders are foundational works inspiring practically every subsequent study.
From here followership literature can be categorized into two defining groups descriptive, studies
that identify actual behaviors, and prescriptive, studies that identify ideal behaviors (Crossman
Crossman, 2011). This research combines both descriptive and prescriptive descriptions of
followership and arrays them along Jon Howell and Dan Costley s

My general goal for the year includes training the next generation of cadets. I also have some
specific goals I will complete during the upcoming term. First, I think mentorship between cadets
needs to step up and play an active role in week to week activities. Even though the 130th has an
outstanding group of cadet leaders currently, many newer cadets seem to lack the interest or
understanding to take the next step in their leadershipjourney; mentorship will assist in providing
novice cadets with the necessary tools and encouragement to succeed. Secondly, giving cadets

experienced cadets showcases another way to engage cadets and it would be great if the

The WorldCom fraud case exemplifies almost everything that is wrong with corporate America
today. People become obsessed with money and success and forget what it means to be an honest
human being. Business is a natural human concept. Barter and trade for goods and services are

place to ensure fair practices and a level standard for which profits can be evaluated. As meticulous

So many students, myself included, study fields that they are not interested in solely because

in this instance. I think regardless of what your boss tells you to do, if you are aware that it is
illegal you should refuse. In Ms. Vinson s case, WorldCom did not have the ability to fire her.
She was performing well in all other areas, and if by refusing to perform this illegal act she was

Use Of Hydraulic Systems Used From Ancient Egypt
1.INTRODUCTION
___________________________________________________________________
1.1 Chronology of Hydraulics
A machine could be described as a device which reduces human effort. Machines consist of
various components which perform their intended operations to give the desired result. Engines,
Vehicles, computers etc are all examples of machines we come across in our daily lives.
Hydraulic machines are those devices which use the power of a liquid to perform simple work.
These machines are based on the principle of hydraulics which deals with the mechanical
properties of liquids. Properties of fluids provide the basis of hydraulics. A hydraulic press is
one such device which is based on this principle. The use of hydraulic systems can be traced to
the regions of ancient Egypt, China and various other regions where the principle of hydraulics
was used for a variety of purposes but it was only in the modern era that the concept of hydraulics
was put to use for operating machinery and in the development of hydraulic power networks.
Numerous scientists like Blaise Pascal and Benedetto Castelli contributed enormously in this regard.
1.2 The Science of Hydraulics
The term hydraulics is derived from the Greek words hydro (meaning water) and aulics (meaning
pipes). We come across hydraulic machines like cranes, forklifts etc in our day to day lives.
Aeroplanes and cars use the concept of hydraulics for carrying out certain operations. A hydraulic
system works on the

As well as defining individuals as social failures directing the blame away from the system. And
thirdly defining criminals as animals and sick for example, justifying putting them in prison.
Keeping these individuals out of the public eye allows us to forget why the crime occurred
needed to help us solve the problems. Traditional Marxists also explore the ideological nature of
the law; this function is valuable in allowing the ruling class to maintain their position of wealth.
This process is what Althusser named the ideological state apparatus. This includes the school
and the variety of forms of media, and it is through these that the ruling class is able to socialise
individuals into accepting ruling class ideology. ISAs are responsible for promoting ruling class
values of self interest and competition and as a result create a society in which basic values
support the capitalist political and economic system. Marxists also believe that crime and the
law can perform an ideological function by essentially brain washing individuals. For example
some laws may appear to benefit the working class for example the health and safety laws at
work, but these, according to a Marxist Frank Pearce are only there to benefit the capitalists by
ensuring a fit and healthy work force. In addition to this by prosecuting a large proportion of the

The Importance Of Animals In Agony
Animals are pretty chill.
They do a lot for us too, dogs help police sniff out illegal drugs, sea lions are monitoring climate
change in the ocean and bees help grow our planet. Dogs have a sense of smell that is 1000 times
stronger than the average human.
Which is like woah.
With their strong sense of smell, detection dogs are used to help find drugs, contraband, blood,
etc. which helps the police keep us safe. Sea lions that are trained to monitor the ocean have
sensors attached to their fur and they go deep in the ocean and track water pressure and
temperature. Bees are pretty sweet as they provide us with honey, also they pollinate about в…“ of
what we eat and most plants in our world which is kind of important too. So many animals like
these help our environment and us people.
There is one more important thing animals have done for us that has greatly affected our health,
they have participated in animal testing.
Animals in Agony?
Many people think animals that are being used to test drugs are abused and tortured therefore they
need to be saved.
First of all.
How do they know that? Are they there with the animals? Did an animal send them a secret
message telling them that they need to be saved? No. Contrary to what the vegans might believe,
the researchers testing these animals aren t evil people who are sadistic and enjoy torturing
animals. They actually care for the animals and are very humane to them.

Throughout the poem, Bishop uses the poetry form, Villanelle. A villanelle is made up of nineteen

villanelle is five tercets of aba and a quartet of abaa. In the first four stanzas along with

Mexican War Justified
The Mexican War: Justified or Unjustified?
The Mexican War, or as it was called in Mexico, the American Invasion, was a very controversial
event. Before the Mexican War, people from the US began moving to Texas. Texas was a disputed
territory, as neither country agreed on who owned it. Mexico said they owned, while the US said
that they did. There are many reasons to argue that the Mexican War should/should not have been
started. The Mexican War should not have been started because US settlers in Texasbroke Mexican
law, the US invaded Mexico, and the countries had mixed up borders.
Before the Mexican War started, both the US and Mexico had mixed up borders. Mexico thought
that their border was at the Nueces, making Texas part of Mexico. ... Show more content on

(Roden 317). Mexico thought soldiers were deep into Mexico, while the US thought they were

country really owned Texas. Mexico had the Nueces River as their border, while the US thought
the Rio Grande to be the border (Roden 315). The borders were mixed up, so no one country was
in their own land, nor could they know if they were invading another land. The Mexican
government had to protect their border, the Nueces (Velasco Marquez 327). This Information
shows: Mexico s border was at the Nueces. This was technically the real border. This evidence
shows the US was not justified in going to war because the borders were mixed up. The US
should not have gone to war because of mixed up

The Missing White Woman Syndrome Summary
The videos assigned for this week were not only interesting but also intense, definitely full of vital
information. I found the Missing White Woman Syndrome video very interesting, for it brought up
a really important point, that being *fear of victimization. In fact, is has been proven that even
though crimein the U.S. has declined, fear of crime is still a huge issue. However, I do believe that
it is mostly because of the extensive coverage crimes get nowadays, mass mediahas influenced the
way we consume news and their power has increased significantly. Moreover, as mentioned in The
Hidden Meanings in Kids Movies, media can really shape the way our perspectives are formed and
this is more significant since the new generation grow up consuming

How Did Leonardo Da Vinci Done
Art is never finished, only abandoned. This is one of Leonardo da Vinci s famous quotes. I
personally find it appealing and memorizing. This is 100% true as well! Nothing in life is ever
truly finished! Leonardo da Vinci was pure genius, however not just from his quotes. He did much,
much, more!
Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452. He was born in Vinci Italy. His exact birthplace was
in a farmhouse in the middle of the beautiful hills of Tuscany outside the village of Anchiano in
what is now Italy. Leonardo da Vinci most likely spent most of his time with his uncle, Francesco,
instead of his two unmarried parents. At the age of 15, Leonardo da Vinci became the apprentice of
the artist Andrea del Verrocchio. Andrea del Verrocchio... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He studied the field of civil engineering, and created many amazing inventions. His invention of
the parachute was an international breakthrough! He also invented scissors, which also changed
the world, and is nowadays used in almost every classroom and almost every household.
Leonardo da Vinci also sketched up the first helicopter. He may not have built it, but he did
imagaine it, and his sketch helped modern day scientists and engineers build the helicopter. Not
only did Leonardo da Vinci sketch the helicopter, create the parachute, and invent the scissors, but
he also built The Revolving Bridge. The Revolving Bridge was a portable bridge, used over a
variety of bodies of water. It was mostly used by armies to pass over rivers, streams, and small
lakes. Leonardo da Vinci originally designed it for Duke Sforza.
I think that this field of science is something I would like to study because I enjoy both building
and creating, and I adore art. I definitely think that if I ever become a scientist, this would be the
field of science I would enjoy! I spend most of my time drawing and building, much like Leonardo
da Vinci did. And it just so happens that I ve always had an eye for science, and it seems to be my
best subject. I hope that maybe, just maybe, one day, I will be just as good as artist as Leonardo da
Vinci. So as I conclude my essay, I would like to say just one more genius quote by Leonardo da
Vinci

Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is an emerging computing technology that uses the internet and central remote
servers to maintain data and applications. Cloud computing allows consumers and businesses to use
applications without installation and access their personal files at any computer with internet
access. This technology allows for much more efficient computing by centralizing storage, memory,
processing and bandwidth. Cloud computing is broken down into three segments: applications,
platforms, and infrastructure. Each segment serves a different purpose and offers different products
for businesses and individuals around the world. In June 2009, a study conducted by VersionOne

Freud Vs Jung
Carl Jung offers a more accurate explanation of the human psychological experience. Whereas
his early ideas are similar to Sigmund Freud, he quickly strayed away in multiple, key areas. Both
Jung and Freud s theories divide the mind into three unique parts; however, Jung s explanation of
the unconscious mind is less narrow sighted and provides a description, archetypes, that account
for the universality of many common mental issues. Conversely, Freud believed that every
individual was on his or her own as he or she moved through the five stages of being and that
those five stages determined the rest of your life. Freud s theory puts everyone on their separate
iceberg floating about the sea. On the other hand, Jung believes that we have an ego,

The Pardoner In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Throughout the Canterbury Tales the pardoner shows that he is the vilest character through his
tale and his interactions with others while they make their journey to Canterbury. Not only is it
ironic that the Pardoner seems to be carefree of his sins and absolve himself of every crime
without hesitation, but the lengths he goes to back up his lies are by far extremely questionable.
To begin with, although the Pardoner does his job and gives his indulgences to those who seek
forgiveness from him, he does it in an unjust way. In order for common folks to have their sins
pardoned, they are to give him money. Although generally most would eventually figure out he
was lying, he manages to continue to get them to pay him money by displaying his relics . These

The Zumwalt class destroyer design included a tumblehome hull, which is an inverted bow. The
tumblehome hull had two big benefits. First being that is cut through the waves instead of riding
them. Secondly and most importantly the design This technology included the use of composite
radar absorbing materials and a unique hull reducing the ability to be detected by opposing radars,
which has been stated to reduce the radar cross section (RCS) by returning much less energy than
a conventional flare hull form. The U.S. Naval Institute stated the original design of the ship would
have had a much smaller RCS, but cost considerations prompted the Navy over the last several
years to make the trades in increasing RCS to save money...
The first ship built was named Zumwalt for Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, and is identified with DDG
1000 . The original plan was to have 32 ships built with a $9.6 billion cost for research and
development for the Zumwalt class. As the project ran on the cost of the project started to rise
exponentially and was reduced to 24, then to 7, and finally to 3. Which increased the cost per ship

a detrimental affect one the liver, another vital organ in the body. It causes an infectious death
upon the liver, especially if consumption is taking place for a long period time. Interestingly
enough, statistics show that drinking alcohol can affect the heart in good and bad ways. On one
hand, studies show that moderate drinking up to two drinks a day for men and one drink for
women can lower the chances of developing heart disease. On the other hand; however, heavy
drinking either all at once or over time can damage the heart. Long term alcohol use can also
result in high blood pressure, which increases a person s risk of heart disease (NIH Senior Health,

are well educated. Recently, the majority of the higher education surveys have been adopted this
method and achieved the goals of research. The advantages of using this method in higher
education are: (1) it is easy to control and design questionnaires as each surveyed system has
single users (2) it is well applied as the respondents are well educated (3) the questionnaire
method is time saving, low cost (4) it is good to have anonymous questionnaires (5) the
information from the questionnaires is easy to analysis (6) it can avoid subjective biases and

Friar Lawrence To Blame Quotes
Friar Lawrence s role in Romeo and Juliet Who is to blame for the deaths in the end of the play
Romeo and Juliet? Friar Lawrence is a main character who definitely affects the storyline. Some
people might believe that Romeo and Juliet are to blame, but I believe, ultimately, Friar
Lawrence is to blame. Romeo could be to blame because he stupidly fell in love and made Friar
Lawrence marry him and Juliet. Romeo s careless actions brought devastation to the Capulet and
Montague s families. He had many near death experiences, but people other than him died. Friar
Lawrence is suspicious because of his role in the book, how he carried the blame, and how
different the story would be without him. Friar Lawrence s role in the play makes him suspicious...

Juliet wanted to get out of an arranged marriage with Paris so badly, she wanted to kill herself.
She was also distraught because Romeo was banned from Verona, and she can t see him. Friar
Lawrence helped her plan to fake her death, he gave her a potion to make her fall asleep for forty
two hours. Take thou this vial, being then in bed, When presently through all thy vein shall run a
cold and drowsy humor; for no pulse shall keep his native progress, but surcease; no warmth, no
breath, shall testify thou livest... (Shakespeare 818). This quote helps show that Friar was
helping Juliet. He gives her a vial of potion that she will take to hibernate. Because of this,
Romeo believes Juliet is truly dead and he kills himself, wanting to be with her. During this time
of chaos, Friar Lawrence was supposed to go down to the cellar and get Juliet so she didn t
suffocate, but he didn t help Juliet. He let her kill herself, which is exactly what happened. Yea,
noise? Then I ll be brief. O happy dagger! This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die

of there because he heard a noise; he only cares about himself and his safety. He didn t even

The key findings so far have suggested that the psychopathic and narcissistic traits are highly
prevalent among adolescents. They also show factors leading to delinquency which include callous
unemotional and sadistic traits particularly in boys. Disengagement is another factor that plays a
large part in the emergence of Machiavellianism at an early stage. These findings will be useful in
locating a link between these behaviours and if they can be the main reason for juvenile
delinquency.
The gap in these research papers is that they have not yet looked into why it was particularly boys
that developed these traits were more prone to delinquent behaviour than girls who did. Works Cited

Frida the movie was released in 2002 and directed by Julie Taymor. The cast included Salma
Hayek as (Frida), Alfred Molina as (Diego Rivera), Ashley Judd, Antonio Banderas, Edward
Norton, Mia Maestro, and Geoffrey Rush. The film is a biography of the life of Mexican artist
Frida Kahlo. She is a woman who came from a very simple background. Kahlo rose to fame as an
artist with an unique vision for her craft. She endured a difficult relationship with her husband
/mentor Diego Rivera. Many of her paintings are based on her experiences in life. She is also an
artist who from the opinion of many, painted from her soul. Director Julie Taymorwas able to
capture and visually show us the life of Fridaby using creative and dynamic angles to bring Frida s
paintings to life.
Frida s rise to success was defined by the challenges she faced throughout her life. She had this
sense of durability, strength and resilience. She was rude, bold and also smoked and drank like
the men around her. At first Frida painted what she felt, but it wasn t for anyone to see or to be
sold. She would paint it and express every tragedy that affected her. In my opinion, her rise began
once she witnessed her husband having and affair with her sister. It hurt her so much inside the
only way to describe how she felt and let it out was she had to paint it. After that, she went on her
own and continued painting her pain. Through out her life she went through many hardships that
caused her pain internally.

When Wallace writes ...the air suffused with honeysuckle and lilacs both, which was almost too

Wallace s precise and purposeful style of language allows us to get a true feeling for Lane, our
protagonist, and the terror, desperation and nervousness he feels in making a horribly difficult
decision. He hated himself for sitting so frozen. He could almost visualize himself tiptoeing past
something explosive. A big stupid looking tiptoe, like in a cartoon. The whole last black week had

Wallace tells this story from a limited omniscience point of view, only allowing us into Lane s
head. This point of view complements Lane s character as well as the tone of this story as it
helps to set the frightened and worried mood of the story as it permits us, as readers, to
experience the inner conflict and desperation that Lane is feeling. The setting, in my opinion,
has hints of foreshadowing that work nicely with Lane s inner conflict. When Wallace writes

The Black Power Movement During The 1950 S
The Black Power Movement took place during the 1950 s into the early 60 s. The point of the
movement was to achieve civil rights for African Americans. Martin Luther King was a major
influence during the early stages of the movement. Many people turned to the Black Panthers,
founded by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, because they felt that nonviolence was not the
answer to achieving civil rights. The Black Power Movement unsuccessfully tried to change the
economic and social inequalities of blacks, because today many blacks are still treated socially
and economically inferior to whites. One reason the Black Power Movement was unsuccessful
is the economic insecurities of blacks in today s society. A major reason for the high rate of
poverty of blacks is what is known as the double burden of poverty. This double burden of
poverty is when a person is poor, but also surrounded by a neighborhood that is just as poor. One
cannot expect to get help, or have a better life, when one is surrounded by those who are in the
same situation as them. Chicago is a perfect example of a city whose poverty rate is extremely
high. Statistics show in the, five year American Community Survey data from 2009 2013, more
than a third of all poor African Americans in metropolitan Chicago live in high poverty census
tracts (Badger). The survey reveals that the poverty rate in Chicago during this time span was over

Target Corporation Business Analysis
Target Corporation is an American retailing company that uses various retail formats that range
from low end to high end items. It was founded in 1902 by George Draper Dayton. It is now the
fourth largest retailer in the United States and operates almost 1600 stores in 47 states (Funding
Universe, 2004). Target differentiate themselves by other competitors by offering consumers
fashion products and grocery at affordable prices, that drags the customers into purchasing more.
A typical Target store averages from 145,000 square ft by 126,000 square ft. (Funding Universe,
2004). The stores are spacious, with a display of a grid format, which concludes in consumers
shopping for items that are put on long gondolas so less space would be wasted.

This poem conjures images of a solemn ceremony in which the soul reigns superior by shutting out everyone, including the emperor, similar to the shutting out of everyone that Dickinson did. In one of Dickinson s most famous poems, I heard a Fly buzz, the theme of death is presented as well as a symptomatic characteristic of bi polar disorder. The poem itself epitomizes her preoccupation with death and the macabre and also shows how the small, normally ignorable sound of a fly buzzing becomes the only thing heard, she magnifies this sound in a situation when it seems that everything else is much more important, but this inability to drown out extraneous noises is typical of someone suffering from manic depression. The form of this poem employs all of Dickinson s formal patterns: trimeter and tetrameter iambic lines, her specific use of the dash to interrupt the meter of the poem, and it is in ABCB rhyme scheme. Two of Dickinson s universal techniques are metaphor and the fresh application of language; both techniques result in powerful images, and can be seen in two of her poems that focus on nature themes, A Bird came down the Walk and narrow Fellow. She closes the poem, A Bird with a stanza equating flight through the air with movement through water, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction In this paper I will discuss efficacy of fast track system in emergency department across Ontario, that will influence patient satisfaction, and also identifies practices that can be used in the Emergency Department. It also provides ways of promising strategies to help Emergency Departments address patient satisfaction issues more effectively. Each hospitalcan identify critical issues and processes and choose strategies to support local needs. The fast track system can be employed at various stages to check for potential outcomes and other implementations in the healthcare industry. On the operation stage, the system can be used to analyze the various outcomes of patient flow study. At the strategic stage, fast track system can be used to monitor the financial gains of an organization and evaluate its commercial health. On the national stage, it can be used to observe the government programs that address the reduction of wait time for the patients in the ED s. At the operational stage, it aims to present a concrete analysis of an ED that exists within a fast track system. Introducing the fast track system was meant to reduce the wait times in the ED (Yoon, 2003). Reducing the time would allow the increase of the numbers of patients who come in, get treated, and discharged. It ends up increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the ED. Increasing the effectiveness and its capacity makes it possible for more patients to be examined and treated because there is more time in the system. For example, at the Grand River Hospital, there are several initiatives that are already in place that are targeting to reduce the staying duration of the patient in the ED. These initiatives include having nurse practitioners in the emergency department, having a specific fast track area, emergency medical rules that permit nurses to start on ... The Three Branches Of Government Essay The Three Branches of Government In 1787 the leaders of the united states gathered to write the constitution which they also divided into three branches to ensure a central government in which no group or individual gains too much control. The three branches consists on the following Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. Legislative branch rejects or confirms presidential appointments, and also has the authority to declare war. The power of the Executive branch is to carry out and enforce laws. It includes the president, the vice president, the cabinet, independent agencies, executive departments, commissions, committees, and other boards. Based on the article by Nancy Spector and Dawn M. Kappel, breach of privacy or confidentiality against patients are the most egregious errors that nurses can make when posting on social media (Spector Kappel, 2012). All patient information must be kept confidential because everyone has the right to be treated with both dignity and respect. Any violation of a patient s privacy whether intentional or unintentional is a serious act that must be addressed immediately. It does not only damage the nurse s credibility and relationship with the patient, but also affects the overall quality of care given. Additionally, nurses and other healthcare professionals may face disciplinary action, drastic consequences, and/or legal charges once held accountable. I have decided to pick scenario #3 as my scenario ending. It describes how I went on Facebook during my day off and talked about the night when I had to work and did not really feel as bad because I personally met the lead singer Jerod from the concert that I had missed. After taking his photograph, I carelessly posted his picture on Facebook and Instagram thinking that no one would recognize him in the first place. • 13. The Scientific Reasoning Behind Seatbelts Motion is how everything in the universe moves, movement of the solar system never stops and is constantly moving but at a very slow speed. There are three laws in motion that explain movement, they are the Newton s three laws of motion named after Isaac Newton. The Newton s first law states that an object that is a rest will stay at rest unless an outside force is acted upon it and an object that is in motion will stay in motion unless an outside force is acted upon it. This is also called as inertia , which means the property of an object to restrict its motion. Examples of inertia would be when a car is driving at a constant speed and instantly stops the person will fall forward if there is no seatbelt. The seatbelt is a safety device that is commonly found on car seats and aircraft seats, it is made from strong durable materials such as fabric, nylon or polyester. Cars that are manufactured are required to have seatbelts due to road safety laws. The law was introduced in the 1970s, it was shown that having seatbelts reduced the amount of road deaths. The seatbelt was invented by George Cayley in the 1800 s, the seatbelt appeared on planes in the 1900 s but was later developed to a three point seatbelt by Nils Bohlin. The purpose of seatbelts is to save lives during a sudden stop of movement. The seatbelt was designed to restrain the person from forward motion that may occur in a collision or a sudden stop. • 14. The Idea And Theory Of Followership Introduction to the Literature The purpose of this chapter is to analyze available followership literature to identify established and acceptable definitions and attributes of followership. The idea and theory of followership has been around for centuries. Aristotle once said, Who would learn to lead must, as men say, first of all learn to obey (Aristotle, 1895). Since the mid 1900s researchers conducted specific studies on followership, beginning with E. P. Hollander and Wilse Webb s study Leadership, Followership, and Friendship: An Analysis of Peer Nominations where they assess the validity of peer nominations (1953). Interest in the study of followership increased in the 1980s and 90s. However, followership became an independent field when Robert Kelly and Ira Chaleff each published books with followership in their titles (Crossman Crossman, 2011). Kelly s The Power of Followership: How to Create Leaders People Want to Follow and Followers Who Lead Themselves and Chaleff s The Courageous Follower: Standing up to and for our Leaders are foundational works inspiring practically every subsequent study. From here followership literature can be categorized into two defining groups descriptive, studies that identify actual behaviors, and prescriptive, studies that identify ideal behaviors (Crossman Crossman, 2011). • 17. Use Of Hydraulic Systems Used From Ancient Egypt 1.INTRODUCTION ___________________________________________________________________ 1.1 Chronology of Hydraulics A machine could be described as a device which reduces human effort. Machines consist of various components which perform their intended operations to give the desired result. Engines, Vehicles, computers etc are all examples of machines we come across in our daily lives. Hydraulic machines are those devices which use the power of a liquid to perform simple work. These machines are based on the principle of hydraulics which deals with the mechanical properties of liquids. Properties of fluids provide the basis of hydraulics. A hydraulic press is one such device which is based on this principle. The use of hydraulic systems can be traced to the regions of ancient Egypt, China and various other regions where the principle of hydraulics was used for a variety of purposes but it was only in the modern era that the concept of hydraulics was put to use for operating machinery and in the development of hydraulic power networks. Numerous scientists like Blaise Pascal and Benedetto Castelli contributed enormously in this regard. 1.2 The Science of Hydraulics The term hydraulics is derived from the Greek words hydro (meaning water) and aulics (meaning pipes). We come across hydraulic machines like cranes, forklifts etc in our day to day lives. Aeroplanes and cars use the concept of hydraulics for carrying out certain operations. • 30. The Pardoner In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Throughout the Canterbury Tales the pardoner shows that he is the vilest character through his tale and his interactions with others while they make their journey to Canterbury. Not only is it ironic that the Pardoner seems to be carefree of his sins and absolve himself of every crime without hesitation, but the lengths he goes to back up his lies are by far extremely questionable. To begin with, although the Pardoner does his job and gives his indulgences to those who seek forgiveness from him, he does it in an unjust way. In order for common folks to have their sins pardoned, they are to give him money. Although generally most would eventually figure out he was lying, he manages to continue to get them to pay him money by displaying his relics . Friar Lawrence is a main character who definitely affects the storyline. Some people might believe that Romeo and Juliet are to blame, but I believe, ultimately, Friar Lawrence is to blame. Romeo could be to blame because he stupidly fell in love and made Friar Lawrence marry him and Juliet. Romeo s careless actions brought devastation to the Capulet and Montague s families. He had many near death experiences, but people other than him died. Friar Lawrence is suspicious because of his role in the book, how he carried the blame, and how different the story would be without him. Friar Lawrence s role in the play makes him suspicious... These findings will be useful in locating a link between these behaviours and if they can be the main reason for juvenile delinquency. The cast included Salma Hayek as (Frida), Alfred Molina as (Diego Rivera), Ashley Judd, Antonio Banderas, Edward Norton, Mia Maestro, and Geoffrey Rush. The film is a biography of the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. She is a woman who came from a very simple background. Kahlo rose to fame as an artist with an unique vision for her craft. She endured a difficult relationship with her husband /mentor Diego Rivera. Many of her paintings are based on her experiences in life. She is also an artist who from the opinion of many, painted from her soul. Director Julie Taymorwas able to capture and visually show us the life of Fridaby using creative and dynamic angles to bring Frida s paintings to life. Frida s rise to success was defined by the challenges she faced throughout her life. She had this sense of durability, strength and resilience. She was rude, bold and also smoked and drank like the men around her. At first Frida painted what she felt, but it wasn t for anyone to see or to be sold. She would paint it and express every tragedy that affected her. In my opinion, her rise began once she witnessed her husband having and affair with her sister. It hurt her so much inside the only way to describe how she felt and let it out was she had to paint it. After that, she went on her own and continued painting her pain. Through out her life she went through many hardships that caused her pain internally. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He hated himself for sitting so frozen. He could almost visualize himself tiptoeing past something explosive. A big stupid looking tiptoe, like in a cartoon. The whole last black week had been this way and it was wrong (1) portrays the sheer terror and desperation that Lane is feeling. • 42. The Black Power Movement During The 1950 S The Black Power Movement took place during the 1950 s into the early 60 s. The point of the movement was to achieve civil rights for African Americans. Martin Luther King was a major influence during the early stages of the movement. Many people turned to the Black Panthers, founded by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, because they felt that nonviolence was not the answer to achieving civil rights. The Black Power Movement unsuccessfully tried to change the economic and social inequalities of blacks, because today many blacks are still treated socially and economically inferior to whites. One reason the Black Power Movement was unsuccessful is the economic insecurities of blacks in today s society. A major reason for the high rate of poverty of blacks is what is known as the double burden of poverty. This double burden of poverty is when a person is poor, but also surrounded by a neighborhood that is just as poor. One cannot expect to get help, or have a better life, when one is surrounded by those who are in the same situation as them. Chicago is a perfect example of a city whose poverty rate is extremely high. Statistics show in the, five year American Community Survey data from 2009 2013, more than a third of all poor African Americans in metropolitan Chicago live in high poverty census tracts (Badger).
