Essay on Hardships in Birches by Robert Frost
Hardships in Birches by Robert Frost
In any life, one must endure hardship to enjoy the good times.
According to Robert Frost, the author of Birches , enduring life s hardships can be made easier by
finding a sane balance between one s imagination and reality. The poem is divided into four parts:
an introduction, a scientific analysis of the bending of birch trees, an imaginatively false analysis of
the phenomenon involving a New England farm boy, and a reflective wish Frost makes, wanting to
return to his childhood. All of these sections have strong underlying philosophical meanings.
Personification, alliteration, and other sound devices support these meanings and themes.
Frost supports the theme by using language to seem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Birch trees are naturally very flexible. Frost explains that this is caused by ice storms placing
weight upon the branches: When I see birches bend to left and right / Across the line of
straighter darker trees, / I like to think some boy been swinging in them. / But swinging doesn t
bend them down to stay. / Ice storms do that. Often you must have seen them . He writes of the
difference between childhood and adulthood in the first two lines of this passage. The comparison
is of the youthful birches with children playing in them to the dark and rigidly conforming straight
tree. The straighter darker trees are the symbol of adulthood, of the ridiculous redundancy of the
private sector. Frost appears to despise this repetitiveness and for this reason, he becomes a poet. In
this occupation he can use his imagination, and walk the border between the birches and the
straight trees. The theme of the poem refers to finding a balance between realism and imagination,
and that finding this balance would help ease the pains of life downtrodden times. There is,
however, a twist to this theme:
They are dragged to the withered bracken by the load / And they seem not to break; though one
they are bowed / So low for long, they never right themselves: A traumatic event in one s life, an ice
storm in relation to birch trees, will never cease to exist in the mind,

Speech Distracting Essay
In the informative speech, I didn t many things that were admired and distracting during the speech,
and I hope to improve on those distracting interrupting acts on my next speech. During the speech, I
did some items that were a little distracting through the speech. As I watched my speech I noticed I
had some awkward pauses, bad transitions, some um s, and a little stutteringthroughout the speech.
If you look at the speech I tendto stutter which is a little distracting. Talking about the festival
Diwali I talk about Rangoli and its colored pattern I stutter and forget what I am explaining.
Another thing I could improve on is my transitions when hearing the speech, the transitions are a
little rough and not as smooth. During the transition when I switch from talking about the
celebrations to the language I say, with all these celebrations it tends to bring many religions
and languages together doesn t really make sense and could be spoken a little smoother.
Stuttering is also a part of the speech I did during the speech which distracting. Throughout the
speech, I stutter during different parts and one of those parts being when I am talking about the
different traditions when eating Indian food. I say, some of the traditions when people eat in
India are well we all we eat on our hands, which is a little annoying. During the speech, I also said
um s during the speech. When citing my source on languages I said some ums, repeating the
citation from the notecard. During the speech I had a little tough time with stuttering at moments,
saying some um s, bad transitions, and some pauses in the future I tend to improve it for the next
speech. During the speech, I was also a good speaker in many ways. I had a good voice projection,
my hand moment was consistent, I was always facing the audienceand held eye contact, and had
facial expressions to emphasize the importance of a topic. Right off the bat when I was explaining
my citation saying According to the U.S Census Bureau there are alone 5.7% Asian s in the United
States, I was pointing my hands to make sure everyone was paying attention to the numbers.
Another thing I did well during the speech was, that I kept eye contact with everyone during the

Human Nature in Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now Essay
Human Nature in Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now
In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness and Francis Ford Coppola s Apocalypse Now the reader
learns more and more about human nature as Marlow, Captain Willard, go farther and farther up
the river in search of Kurtz. An evil side lies within every man, but this evil remains repressed by
society. When moving up the river and farther away from civilization, the evil side begins to
break out. Whenever basically different cultures meet we are led to discover ourselves and can
even drive us to perceived madness. Both stories are about Man s journey finding himself, and
confronting his fears of failure, insanity, culture and even death. Marlow is an early version of
Kurtz, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar events occur in Francis Coppola s Apocalypse Now, Captain Willard pushes farther up the
river where the solitude from society and the destruction of war tamper with human nature.
During the opening scene, Willard is shown in despair, going from America to war and back
was too much for him to handle. He moved back to Saigon hoping to find himself. However he
does not know his own true self until he discovers Colonel Kurtz s true nature. Throughout the
movie, new characters are introduced showing differences in human nature due to the effects of
war. For instance the helicopter commander no longer cares for human life anymore; he finds it
all right to surf while his men are being killed. He is hardened by the war, meaning he shows no
fear. Contrary to that the Chef lives in almost constant fear. With the river and surroundings
becoming more and more uncivilized with every mile, he grows more and more afraid. Afraid
for his life, afraid he should have joined the navy. Most human beings or at least Americans
believe that the most technologically advanced races are the best. Yet a patrol boat armed to the
teeth can not do anything against a few villagers with spears and arrows. When the chief of the
boat dies from a spear, Captain Willard s eyes are opened to the horror he finds himself trapped in.
Just as Marlow s eyes were opened to the same horror when a

Assumption of Risk
In the Dillworth v. Gambardella, 776 F. Supp. 170 (D. Vt. 1991) is a case where the
Plaintiff sues a skier that feel and thereby knocking down the plaintiff who feel and injured his

on the grounds that the court made an error in instructing the jury as to the Vermont Sports
Injury Statute and its relation to the doctrine of assumption of risk and the applications to this case.
The appellate court denied their motion for a new trial and stated that the sports injury statute

This inheritance of assumptions of risk and if the action is applicable to the case is a question of
fact for the jury, and therefore the jury in this matter found it applicable, which was not thereby
applicable for a new trial.
The jury in the Dillworth matter applied the assumption of risks to all participants in sports, not just
the operators of ski resort. In regards to dangerous activities and sports in general the court stated
that
when a primary assumption of the risk exists there is no liability to the plaintiff because there is no
negligence on the part of the defendant to begin with; the danger to the plaintiff is not one which
the defendant is required to extinguish or warn about. Having no duty to begin with, there is no
breach of duty to constitute negligence, showing that even other participants not just those in
charge of the activity can not be negligent for risks that are inherent to the activity. This assumption
of risk has a broader appeal than just skiing and was stated that A person who takes part in any

T-Mobile Case Study
A Comeback Story
Sonya Nicole Maynes
Mesa Community College
Introduction
The world of telecommunications is a dog eat dog world. Marketing and innovation is key.
Leading the pack as America s fastest growing network (*) is none other than T Mobile. Of course
it was not always this way. With the on boarding of CEO John Legere in 2012, the then small
telecommunications company, skyrocketed to 73 million customers(Feloni, 2016). In 1994 T
Mobile, with the name of VoiceStream Wireless PCS, was established by John Stanton. Seven
years later it was purchased by Deutsche Telekom AG for a whopping $39 million and rebranded T
Mobile US the following year. In 2011 T Mobile was in financial trouble and was looking to be
purchased by AT T. The deal was struck down by the US Department of Justice because it would
lessen the competition in the market. In early 2012 John Legere became CEO and the rebranding
started. T Mobile then went on to acquire MetroPCS Communication in October 2012 to broaden
their customer base and increase prepaid service revenue. John Legere then introduced contract
free pricing in 2013 which then forced the big guys (Verizon and AT T) to follow suit. Due to
their success, Sprint attempted to acquire the company in 2013 but abandoned the idea due to the
fact that it was unlikely to be approved by the government (Maynes, 2017). In 2016 there were
talks of T Mobile purchasing Sprint. In November of 2017, after months of negotiations and

Ngo Is An Acronym That Means Non Governmental Organization
NGO is an acronym that means non governmental organization. The term comes from the United
Nations and, originally, its meaning is broader than private development organization. According to
the United Nations, the NGO groups may include service organizations in order to profit
foundations, educational institutions, churches and hospitals.
However, this name has been accepted by the entire international community to refer more
specifically to non profit organizations involved in international development with various
programs abroad, or local actions related problems development (pressure group, study
organizations, information retrieval, etc.). Another distinction is usually made between national
NGOs and local. The first show either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NGOs perform a variety of services and functions: Humanitarian information to governments on the
concerns of their citizens to monitor government policies and promoting political participation at
the community level. They provide analysis and expertise, serve as early warning and help monitor
and implement international agreements. Some are organized around specific issues such as
human rights, the environment or health.
The definition of NGOs given by the UN is too broad to be applicable in all countries as it includes
organizations of very different nature: social movements, organizations close to churches or media
from the private sector, research centers academics and associations of members of Parliament and
local authorities. Several UN agencies have outlets regulating the accreditation of NGOs and the
relationship between NGOs and international organizations, but the criteria are always the same.
This definition is well aware of the general environment NGOs. NGOs are private non profit
organizations, with legal personality granted by their State of origin and are sometimes recognized
by an international organization in order to have consultative status. In addition to NGOS, there are
International Non governmental Organizations or INGOs.

How Does Edith Hamilton Use Violence In Greek Mythology
Violence appears frequently in mythology. There is physical disorder and destruction, considered
the most common. This is present in many of the stories dealing with the hero Hercules. It often
feels as though every narrative has a battle, be it a mere skirmish or a great war. Verbal violence
also occurs, prominent when Galatea argues with her sister Doris, in the myth concerning
Polyphemus and his great love for the nymph. Then there are battles in Olympus, the spat Apollo
had with Zeus over the murder of Aesculapius is a fine specimen of this. Furthermore, the Troy
Tale, described in Edith Hamilton s classic Mythology, actually incorporates three varieties of
violence including physical fights, linguistic quarrels, and even conflict concerning... Show more

In, This was just, and the Trojans would have agreed if Athena, at Hera s prompting, had not
interfered. Hera was determined that the war should not end until Troy was ruined. Athena,
sweeping down to the battlefield, persuaded the foolish heart of Pandarus, a Trojan, to break the
truce and shoot an arrow at Menelaus, Mythology page 192, it is perspicuous that these two
goddesses are meddling in the affairs of mortals. They want Troy demolished, Paris dead, and
Aphrodite defeated, and the way the go about this is through humans. Athena coaxes Pandarus
to loose his arrow at the Spartan king, knowing the Greeks will be peeved at this and resume the
battle. During the onslaught, Olympians are wounded alongside men. Aphrodite is hurt by
Diomedes, brave because of Hera, and the Greek s spear, guided by Athena, also strikes Ares.
Such actions prompted by these two goddesses are clear evidence that the Olympians are
involved in the Trojan War. In addition, the consequences of the behavior of Eris show this
particular type of violence. Sly and sneaky, the goddess of discord was not invited to the wedding
of Peleus and Thetis, and was naturally angered by this. She flung an apple, marked For The
Fairest, into the party. The events that occurred afterward would become legendary. Olympus
became divided over Troy,

Bulimia Nervosa Is An Eating Disorder
Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder that consists of the distortion on one s body image and an
obsessive desire to lose weight. It involves binge eating which is the rapid ingesting of large
amounts of food, commonly followed by vomiting, fasting, or purging that is accompanied by
depression. An individual with bulimia will attempt to avoid weight gain by vomitingor using
laxatives, diuretics, or enemas. It is common to see a bulimic individual restrict their food intake
or exercise excessively. The collective notion of a bulimic is that their self worth and self
evaluation is strongly influenced by their weight or body shape. This disorder is not only mentally
damaging but also takes a physical toll on the body. The physical... Show more content on

of bulimia but do not meet the criteria to be diagnosed. Apart from the common misconception
that only women develop eating disorders, it is reported that 10% of bulimics are males. I
personally never gave any thought to males suffering from an eating disorder. I have always
perceived that males with extra weight are more socially acceptable compared to women that carry
extra weight, and that commonly men don t view their image as defining to their value.
An interesting fact that I did not know is that 50% of individuals with an eating disorder abuse
drugs and alcohol. It s not shocking to me that bulimics would abuse drugs and alcohol, not only
because it can be used as an escape from the world and themselves, but also because numerous
drugs and alcohol effect appetite, usually in a negative way, aiding to weight loss. This disorder
really is a never ending cycle. First the body distortion image develops, then the binge eating occurs,
followed by guilt that leads to purging, vomiting, etc., which turns into depression that is commonly
coped with through drugs, alcohol, or food, which in turn starts the cycle over again.
Like most disorders, having a good family and friend support group is important to overcoming or
coping with bulimia. This became evident in this case study based off the fact that Amber felt
unable to communicate

What Instrument Was Best For Me
Jazz Standards
Music isn t just what I do, it s who I am, and who I ve always been. I play twelve instruments.
Some fluently, some only a singular note or, maybe a song. This all started out in sixth grade
when I could not decide what instrument was best for me. I started out my first two months of
middle school by switching from instrument to instrument. I began with the oboe, and a week
later, I changed to percussion. Only then, did I attempt to play all of the brass instruments and I
mean all of them trumpet, french horn, tuba, trombone, and baritone, you name it, and I ve
probably played it. Next, I moved on to all of the woodwinds, flutes, clarinets, and all of the
saxophones. Again, I cycled through the percussion instruments once again. Finally, I decided that
I would rather play notes on a staff than beat something with a stick. I was forced, by my very
irritated band teacher, to pick one of the two that I was better at, the alto saxophone or the trumpet.
Two completely different musical instruments in two completely different musical families. Of
course, as an indecisive twelve year old, I could not pick. Mr. Deneen, a woodwind player himself,
chose the alto saxophone.
The alto saxophone has stuck with me for many years six, to be exact. My sixth grade year I
became really good at playing my saxophone. I went from indecisiveness to first chair in a matter
of weeks. In fact, I was so talented that I was moved up into the eighth grade band as a sixth grader.

their effectiveness and their knowledge. Throughout its first years of service, the bureau did run

not like this because [t]he heart of any investigation is information (Kronenwetter 61). So, in

Vitamin C Essay
A question that is commonly asked when receiving a virus is, what is the fastest way to get rid of
it? No human enjoys the presence of a common cold, despite more extreme terms such as the flu.
Rest and fluids are typically the first reaction to curing a common cold. Then, medicine that is
categorized toward the symptoms is received. Although, how do you speed up the process? Many
think that the intake of large doses of vitamin ccan speed up or potentially get rid of the cold all
together.
Vitamin C is very essential to our bodies. Vitamin C helps the body to maintain its collective
tissues. This also includes our bones, blood vessels, and skin. Vitamin C is scientifically known as
L ascorbic acid. The vitamin is a water soluble vitamin that can be found in several fruits and
vegetables. Vitamin C can also be found as a dietary supplement. It is essential for our bodies to
have some source of vitamin C intake. Vitamin C is required for the biosynthesis of collagen, L
carnitine, and certain neurotransmitters; vitamin C is also involved in protein metabolism.
Collagen is an essential component of connective tissue, which plays a vital role in wound healing.
Vitamin C is also an important physiological antioxidant [3] and has been shown to regenerate
other antioxidants within the body, including alpha tocopherol (vitamin E). (1) The overall body
intake for vitamin C runs to a high of 2g. Lower amounts of vitamin C can be found in areas such
as eyes, pituitary gland, and

Effects Of Glass Ceiling On The Workplace
As we approach the millennium, the overall framework of the workforce has been steadily
flourishing. In this era, several individuals would like to think that the promotional and also hiring
processes in the workplace have become fair and also impartial. However, there still exist several
impediments for few individuals. The glass ceilingis a subtle framework that most organizations and
employers have utilized in legally discriminating particular groups of people. Although this action is
not apparently several women and also minorities have encountered challenges in advancing to
higher positions in their careers due to the concept of the glass ceiling (Horn, and Schaffner, 2003).
Also, several historical customs have continued to hinder the success of female individuals in
various societies. Due to these customs, the glass ceiling has been created above females in their
place of work. This is a serious impediment that exists within businesses that have prevented highly
qualified and learned women and people from minority groups from reaching their potential in
leadership positions in various corporations.
Purpose of this study
The paper will show the effects of glass ceiling clearly. The paper will also explore the dilemma of
the glass ceiling debate with a review of the literature, applicable concepts and also the necessary
recommendations and conclusions that the society and various policy makers in the corporate and
government sector must observe. The research also

The Historical Context Of Nursing
Nursing was not always seen as a profession, therefore it is important to explore what a
profession is and its historical context related to nursing. Turkoski (1995) states that profession is
a social construct that was determined by a male worldview; only men were allowed to have
professions. Over time the concept of professionhas moved beyond the gender divide and
established a set of criteria that are non gender specific. RNABC (as cited in Northrup et al,
2004) listed attributes that explained how nurses were a profession. These attributes are,
responsibility and accountability to the public, have own body of knowledge, bound by a code
ethics, provide a service to the public and is self regulating. However, education is missing from
the RNABC standards of professional development, according the Merriam Websters dictionary
(2015) a profession is, a type of job that requires special education, training or skill and requires
specialized knowledge. Bluhm (2014) adds that it is the specialized training that allows someone
to be called a nurse. Ten Hoeve, Jansen and Roodbol (2014) agree that education and
development of knowledge is the reason why nursing was raised to the professional status. It is
this knowledge development that has helped shaped what nursing is today, and has allowed nurses
to share a common worldview. Worldviews (paradigms) frame global assumptions for vocabulary,
theories and principles to direct the development of ideas for a domain (Duff, 2011

Essay about Perceptions of Persistence of Memory
Perceptions of Persistence of Memory
Although visual art is looked upon differently by all, everyone has a either a favorite piece or at
least something that catches their eye. Personally, I don t have a piece of art that I would label
my absolute favorite, but during a Spanish research project found that Salvador Dali s work really
stood out. The Persistence of Memory painted in 1931 by Dali, a highly renowned surrealist
painter, is among the most interesting works I have ever seen. Even though the painting itself is
rather simple in quality at first glance, what Dali s must have been thinking about while creating
this work is strikingly complex. The painting is attractive to me because it deals with the concept of
time, something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is reasonable, I think, to assume that most people could have created a landscape painting with
mountains being reflected into a sea, and that may have been Dali s goal when he started to paint
The Persistence of Memory. However, there remains no doubt that Dali s subconscious was at
work here because no one else could ever imagine the exact image depicting melting time as seen
here. The conscious part of the brain is the area that is alive and comprehends what is happening to
one and the world around one. The landscape, Catalonia, Spain (Dali s hometown), was the result
of Dali s conscious mind because he was living it and taking it in with his own two eyes. Everything
stemmed from thoughts of daydreams, bad memories, and other possible goods or evils that dwell
in the subconscious mind. Wikipedia explains that Sigmund Freud believed that the unconscious
mind was a depository of wishes, desires, socially unacceptable ideas, traumatic memories, and/or
painful emotions.
Dali s painting appears to be representative of mainly the subconscious mind because many of the
elements in the painting express objects or ideas that are highly characteristic of memories, dreams,
or even socially unacceptable elements. More importantly, The Museum of Modern Art explains
that a year before this painting was made Dali began to undergo his paranoiac critical method which

Dirt Track Racing Research Paper
The particular community I consider to be affiliated with is the local dirt track race car

INTRODUCTION:
In my research I will discuss with you about some interesting invention is the Bicycle. The

Cyrano De Bergerac By Edmond Rostand
The play Cyrano de Bergerac, written by Edmond Rostand, was written based on the life of the
real Cyrano de Bergerac. Even so, the setting of the story itself contributed greatly to the character
Cyrano de Bergerac and the development of the story itself. Overall, the play has very specific
stage directions and gives a very detailed description of the setting for every scene. This helps the
characterdevelop as the story continues, while also giving background and mood to that scene in
which it describes. For example, things like the season being autumn in act five, stage directions
stating the green lawn has turned red (Rostand 199) and spots of darker color formed by box
shrubs (Rostand 199) showing how death is coming. It is being represented by the falling leaves
and its change in color. The setting of the play also gives cultural background to the society in that
time period.
Overall, setting contributes greatly to the play. One aspect that the setting contributes greatly to is
the characters within the play. One character that setting contributes greatly to in this play is
Cyrano de Bergerac. Cyrano as a character and also in real life was a Gascon. During this time
period there was also a revolutionary war in France, which contributes greatly to the storyline and
how Cyrano was sent off to war with the Gascon Cadets. It is because he, himself, is a Gascon it

shows gave Croc s a personal relationship with the stores, and allowed the company to market the
shoes in each store. Placing a Croc s representative in each store allowed for service guarantee,
the ability to ensure its satisfactory delivery to the customer (Schroeder, R. et al, 2013, p. 97).
Crocs took the same grass roots approach in other countries, but the momentum generated in the

Notes On Sound And Noise
2.1SOUND AND NOISE:
Sound is the variation of pressure in an elastic medium (such as air) caused by a mechanical
disturbance. The movement of molecules in a transmitting medium caused by a disturbance results
in pressure oscillations above (compressions) and below (rarefactions) the ambient pressure level.
The oscillation of sound pressure variations is referred to as a sound wave. A sound wave will
move through an ideal medium longitudinally and omnidirectionally. The oscillation frequency of a
sound wave determines the pitch of a sound, which is measured in Hertz (Hz). The healthy human
ear can typically discern frequencies between 20 and 20,000 Hz. The amplitude of the pressure
oscillations of a sound wave describes the amount of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hard surfaces such as smooth wood or metal often reflect sound waves well but attenuate sound
poorly. Conversely, soft, porous surfaces usually reflect sound waves poorly but attenuate sound
waves well. Reflected sound waves can increase the overall SPL in an area, as the reflected
wave essentially becomes an additional sound source. Sound behaves predictably in the far field
(i.e., far enough away from individual sound sources relative to the size of the sound sources) and
most sound measurement equipment can only accurately measure SPLs in the far field. The
measurement of sound generated by a source within a reflective chamber (reverberant field) is
more difficult because the large number of reflections increase the overall SPL if the measurement
is also made within the reflective chamber. SPLs measured in the reverberant field of the ear
cannot directly be compared to SPLs in the free field without first compensating for the higher
SPLs at certain frequencies caused by the resonance of the ear canal.
2.2AUDITION:
Audition, or the perception of sound, is accomplished via the complex transformation from sound
pressure waves to electrical nerve impulses and interpretation in the brain. The human ear is
divided into three main parts; the outer ear, the middle ear, and the inner ear (see Figure 2.1). The
outer ear consists of the pinna (or auricle), which is the visible portion of

Chickfil-A Business Proposal
For my project, I will be creating the accounting portions of a business plan for a Chickfil
A restaurant.
I have selected this business for several reasons. Firstly, Chick fil A is the busiest restaurant I have
ever seen. It is the only vendor in the mall food court that requires waiting line dividers. The double
drive thru line wraps around the building most of the time. During peak hours, the parking lot is so
busy that it cannot hold any more cars. Although there are plenty of competing fast food options in
my town, including McDonald s, Burger King, Subway, KFC,
Popeye s and Wendy s all within half a mile of the Chick fil A restaurant, people will park in the
adjacent lot and walk across a busy road rather than go elsewhere for lunch.

According to their website, they receive approximately
20,000 franchise inquiries every year and select 75 to 80, on average, to become new franchise

would be serving chicken and taking home the bacon . While I did not know for sure how much
profit could be made from a franchise, I could only assume, based on its popularity, that it was a
very lucrative business.
The story of Chick fil A began in 1946 when Truett Cathy, along with his brother Ben, opened the
Dwarf Grill (now the Dwarf House) near the Ford Motor Company Atlanta Assembly
Plant. In 1960, when his second Dwarf Grill location was accidentally burned down, Truett
Cathy was forced to rethink his business. His fried chicken sandwich had always sold well, but
they took a long time to prepare and were more expensive compared to hamburgers and fries. In
1961, he found a pressure cooker that could cook a chicken breast in the same amount of time it
took for him to grill a burger. He then sought to reduce the cost of raw chicken by purchasing
boneless, skinless chicken breasts from Goode Brothers Poultry Company. Although

Analysis Of The Book The Big Boat
The Big Boat Going to the LACMA art museum was a very good experience to see many
different types of artwork by different artists. In 1920 Robert Michel created a painting named
Ship , which it contained many visual elements such as cool and warm colors curvilinear
geometric figures. First of all, Michel shows the viewer a lot of curvilinear lines meaning a
consisting of, bounded by, or characterized by a curved line, or a along a curved line of a set of
coordinates determined by or determining a system of three orthogonal surfaces (definition from
the internet). Geometric meaning, a set of points or vertices lines connecting the points in a
closed chain, as well as the resulting interior points. Such shapes are called polygons and include
triangles, squares, and pentagons (definition from the internet). And irregular shapes meaning
polygon that does not have all sides equal and all angles equal. A polygon is regular only when
all angles are equal and all sides are equal, otherwise it is irregular (definition from the internet).
He also adds warm, cool and intensity colors to catch the viewer attention. The person analyzing
the painting really has to pay very close attention to Micheles art work. Michele tends to add a lot
of small detail to his art work mostly about life; such as the sea representing water, animals like
elephants, numbers, moving flags representing air, two humans in the house representing a family,

Dr.Strangelove Film Analysis Essay example
Introduction
In 1964, Stanley Kubrick released Dr. Strangelove or: How I learned to stop worrying and love
the bomb to both critical and commercial praise. The historical context surrounding the film s
release was at the height of the Cold War, just over a year after the Cuban Missile Crisis as the
Vietnam War was beginning to escalate. While based on a more serious book, Red Alert by Peter
George, it was soon transformed into a black comedy that parodied the absurdity of global nuclear
destruction and the mentality of the Cold War. While not as overtly anti war as his third film Paths
of Glory, Kubrick still manages to show the ridiculousness of nuclear war while linking two basic
male instincts together, sex and the desire to kill. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ripper s paranoia about denying women his essence clarifies the connection between war and
sex. While Strangelove admits that women are essential to the survival of mankind, the
motivations of women are suspicious. Ripper s decision to attack Russia when he was

infringement he performs on others might fall on him. The constant waiting creates a life of its
own within his mind and a sense of deep apprehension that the same people he has abused will
take their revenge. In his office, Ripper is usually shot in high contrast lighting. A lighting effect

Ebola Virus Is A Serious Virus Disease
Ebola Virus is a serious transmitted disease by both humans and animals. The disease first
appeared in 1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks, one in Nzara, Sudan, and the other in Yambuku,
Democratic Republic of Congo. The latter occurred in a village near the Ebola River, from which
the virus received its name. EbolaVirus is a member of the negative stranded RNA viruses known
as filoviruses. There are currently, five different strains of the Ebola Virus including, Zaire
(EBOV), Sudan (SUDV), Bundibuguyo (BDBV), TaГЇ Forest (TAFV) and Reston (RESTV). Each
of the strains of the virus are very closely related including Reston which only effects animals. Yet,
Ebola Zaire is the most highly virulent subtype, often leading to death. All of the different types of
the virus are extremely dangerous and often cause death if untreated.
Description:
Ebola is an acute, infectious, hemorrhagic viral fever. It is an enveloped, single stranded,
unsegmented, negative sense RNA virus. The genomes (complete set of genes) of the five
different Ebola viruses differ in sequence and the number and location of gene overlaps. Ebola
virons are filamentous particles that can appear in the shape of a shepherd s crook, a 6 , a U ,
coiled, toroid or branched. The virons of the disease are roughly 80 nm (nanometers) in width and
can be as long as 14,000 nm. Yet the average length of a viron is approximately 920 nm.

Bridal Table Essay
Your Aunt Carole and Uncle Earl have been feuding since the 80s, your last single girlfriend is
hypersensitive to being seated at the wrong table, and you have one couple coming from out of
the country who only know you. Or perhaps your parents are divorced. How can you please
everyone? Seating dilemmas have cost brides and grooms many sleepless nights before the big
day. You want every guest to feel special, but if you have to rearrange that seating chart one more
time, you re going to lose it. What to do? With a little tact, diplomacy and common sense (along
with those deep breathing exercises you learned in yoga), you can create a seating plan that will
make almost everyone happy.

Speak to your caterer or wedding coordinator to determine this. If not, you might simply designate
the bridal table with place cards, and allow the other guests to seat themselves. Some couples opt
to have a cocktail party or buffet with a few tables, in hopes that guests will alternate sitting and
eating. If this is what you plan to do, make sure that your elderly guests have a place to sit down,
possibly even by designating a separate table for them.
Who Sits Where?
The Bridal Table. The bride and groom may sit at a long rectangular head table or round table at
the focal point of the room, or alternatively, at their very own sweetheart table. Some couples
choose to have no table at all, but to leave a few seats empty at every table so they can mingle
throughout the reception. No matter which configuration you choose, the bridal table is usually
set apart from the others by some type of decoration, such as flowers. Classically, the groom sits to
the bride s right and the best man sits to her left. The maid of honor sits to the groom s right.
Depending on how large the table is, the other attendants should be scattered around. In the old
days, spouses and significant others were relegated to different tables, but let s think about that for
a minute... It seems rather unfair to separate couples during an entire wedding dinner and dance, so
be sensitive. If you can only fit the best man and maid of honor along with their significant

Jovian Planets Research Paper
I would have to say that the atmospheres of Jovian planets and the atmospheres of terrestrial planets
similar because they are all part of the same primordial solar nebula. Another similarity is that, they
both move around the Sun at an angle orbit with changing eccentricities. Despite the fact, the Jovian
and terrestrial planets differ in structure, they both have a solid core which in turn makes the cores
of the terrestrial planets are larger than the cores of the Jovian planets.
The textbook defines Jovian planets as the Jupiter like planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
These planets have relatively low densities (Lutgens Tarbuck, 2011, pg 430). The atmospheres of

Abstract
Cancer nowadays is very widespread.
But what is cancer?
Cancer, known medically as a malignant neoplasm, is a large group of different diseases, all
involving unregulated cell growth. In cancer, cells divide and grow uncontrollably, forming
malignant tumors, and invade nearby parts of the body. The cancer may also spread to more distant
parts of the body through the lymphatic system or bloodstream. Not all tumors are cancerous.
Benign tumors do not grow uncontrollably, do not invade neighboring tissues, and do not spread
throughout the body.

I Chose The Top Left Picture Of The Vanity Fair
In this 21st century where representation and visibility of all groups is valued, it is not surprising
to see photos or videos in the media promoting or even advertising unique lifestyle that just a few
decades ago would unearthed a feeling of disgust or repulsion. While on one hand some uses
media in a positive way, introducing us to new fresher ideas which would ve been unthinkable
before. Suchlike families aside from the traditional nuclear family (e.g. single parent household,
lesbian and gay couples, or eccentric families in general), people of colour taking bolder or
positions of leadership, or even simple individuals breaking the barrier of norms. On the other
hand, there are those who simply see the media as a lucrative business aimed to spread
consumer commodification and vain lifestyle. As I want to focus on the latter, I chose the top
left picture of the Vanity Fair (VF) March 2014 issue. This month s issue s cover is Jen Selter,
fitness model and supposedly an inspiration for many young girls to go to the gym. I can be put
in the basket of haters but frankly, I ve never heard of her and seeing just the magazine with her
on the cover, in that position wearing that dress doesn t appeal to me. She s wearing a black dress
that covers parts that should be, but is showing enough skin to entice curiosity paired with black
stilettos. Taking a four legged animal stance on bland looking table with a hazy, rugged wall to
complete the scene . Honestly speaking, at

An oligopoly is a market situation in which relatively few sellers [like Burger King, McDonald s]
compete and high start up costs form barriers to keep out new competitors [like Five Guys Burgers
and Fries] (Boone and Kurtz, 2012, p. 80). Within this competitive fast food burger industry, the
main product being offered is a hamburger.
However, one of Five Guys unique features compared to Burger King and McDonald s is to only
offer fresh, never frozen, eighty percent lean meat burgers that are made to order. Many of the
traditional fast food burger restaurants, only offer frozen patties cooked in advanced, and stored
under heated lamp until ordered by the customers. They also offer the customers seventeen free
toppings for their burgers. Additionally, they use the same kind of bun for the burgers; as well as
the original baker.
Subsequently, Five Guys does not sell dehydrated French Fries unlike its competitors. Their
potatoes are slowly grown in Northern Idaho, where the weather conditions are quite favorable for
growing solid and tasty potatoes. Many of the competitors reduce their costs by purchasing
potatoes from California or Florida, where they are grown fast and are a lot cheaper. Five Guys
guarantees freshness by cutting the potatoes every morning while leaving slivers of skin on.

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Year Round School

very common in this world today. So, why can t we change public schools (like Hermon Middle
School) to a year round schedule? Ten percent of public schoolchildren have already switched to
year round in 2012 according to research done by theweek.com. and many sites like

spaced out vacations, a more amount of time to learn, and the extra funding. What s a good way
schools prevent academic burnout? Vacations. Each vacation for year round schools have 15

Effects Of Colonization On Indigenous People
Imagine having your identity and culture stripped away from you. This is what has happened to
many Indigenous people throughout history in Canada. This has been done through the process of
colonization. There are many devastating impacts of colonization that has affected Indigenous
people all over Canada including racism and stereotyping as well as the downfall of the health of
Indigenous people. Racism against Indigenous people has been a major impact of colonialism
throughout the years. The racism and institutionalized racism has grown over the years and has

also many health consequences of colonization including starvation, disease, mental illness and

history and continue to impact them today.
Racism is very prevalent in today s society against Indigenous people in Canada. They face many
forms of individual and institutionalized racism. According to LaRocque, Racism is prejudice or
discrimination based on the belief that one or one s group is innately or genetically superior to
another. Racists believe that race determines qualities such as intelligence, innovation, creativity
and even morality (N.D). People have been taught the stereotypes of Indigenous people whether it

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Carambola
Balimbing The carambola (Averrhoa carambola) or balimbing (local name in the Philippines) has
been developed in Malaysia and Southeast Asia for a long time and is believed to have begun and
originated in Moluccas and Ceylon. In the areas of Taiwan, India, Fukien, Kuangtung and Kuangsi
in Southern China it is commonly grown. This carambolatree is fairly prominent in the Philippines,
Australia, Queensland, and respectably in a portion of the South Pacific islands especially in
Guam, Tahiti, Hawaii, Netherlands New Guinea and New Caledonia.
In particular as to its preferable soil, the carambola tree will grow faster and bear more heavily in
rich loam. It needs good drainage too because it cannot stand when flooding. Moreover, it does

ensure cross pollination to obtain highest yields by means of interplanting carambola tree at

rainfall should be fairly evenly distributed all the year. In Australia, when yearly rainfall is 70 in

How Does Police Brutality On Children Affect How Society...
Imagine a young child screaming at the top of their lungs while being carried away, at what
looks like to be against their will. Many children have been removed from areas and even arrested
by police officers who have used unnecessary physical force on the child. Majority of these
altercations between the child and police, the child was unarmed, being cooperative, and not being
violent towards the police officer. When has there ever been a time where it was a justifiable right
to harm a child that isn t causing any physical harm to themselves or others? In this image one can
note that the young boy is terrified while being forcefully removed by authoritative figures, and
one of the officers seem to find the situation to be humorous. The boy was so scared that he
urinated on himself. It s obvious that the child is defenseless and shows no sign of hurting anyone,
but yet the officers choose to handle the situation with unnecessary force. How does police brutality
on children affect how society portrays law enforcement? Have children been traumatized after
having to go through the experience of being physically or even verbally harmed by an officer?
Are the children given justice for this injustice act by police? Police assert themselves,
assumingly as helpful, caring, and always doing what is right for the great or good of mankind,

  • 2. Essay on Hardships in Birches by Robert Frost Hardships in Birches by Robert Frost In any life, one must endure hardship to enjoy the good times. According to Robert Frost, the author of Birches , enduring life s hardships can be made easier by finding a sane balance between one s imagination and reality. The poem is divided into four parts: an introduction, a scientific analysis of the bending of birch trees, an imaginatively false analysis of the phenomenon involving a New England farm boy, and a reflective wish Frost makes, wanting to return to his childhood. All of these sections have strong underlying philosophical meanings. Personification, alliteration, and other sound devices support these meanings and themes. Frost supports the theme by using language to seem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Birch trees are naturally very flexible. Frost explains that this is caused by ice storms placing weight upon the branches: When I see birches bend to left and right / Across the line of straighter darker trees, / I like to think some boy been swinging in them. / But swinging doesn t bend them down to stay. / Ice storms do that. Often you must have seen them . He writes of the difference between childhood and adulthood in the first two lines of this passage. The comparison is of the youthful birches with children playing in them to the dark and rigidly conforming straight tree. The straighter darker trees are the symbol of adulthood, of the ridiculous redundancy of the private sector. Frost appears to despise this repetitiveness and for this reason, he becomes a poet. In this occupation he can use his imagination, and walk the border between the birches and the straight trees. The theme of the poem refers to finding a balance between realism and imagination, and that finding this balance would help ease the pains of life downtrodden times. There is, however, a twist to this theme: They are dragged to the withered bracken by the load / And they seem not to break; though one they are bowed / So low for long, they never right themselves: A traumatic event in one s life, an ice storm in relation to birch trees, will never cease to exist in the mind, ... • 3. Speech Distracting Essay In the informative speech, I didn t many things that were admired and distracting during the speech, and I hope to improve on those distracting interrupting acts on my next speech. During the speech, I did some items that were a little distracting through the speech. As I watched my speech I noticed I had some awkward pauses, bad transitions, some um s, and a little stutteringthroughout the speech. If you look at the speech I tendto stutter which is a little distracting. Talking about the festival Diwali I talk about Rangoli and its colored pattern I stutter and forget what I am explaining. Another thing I could improve on is my transitions when hearing the speech, the transitions are a little rough and not as smooth. During the transition when I switch from talking about the celebrations to the language I say, with all these celebrations it tends to bring many religions and languages together doesn t really make sense and could be spoken a little smoother. Stuttering is also a part of the speech I did during the speech which distracting. Throughout the speech, I stutter during different parts and one of those parts being when I am talking about the different traditions when eating Indian food. I say, some of the traditions when people eat in India are well we all we eat on our hands, which is a little annoying. During the speech, I also said um s during the speech. When citing my source on languages I said some ums, repeating the citation from the notecard. During the speech I had a little tough time with stuttering at moments, saying some um s, bad transitions, and some pauses in the future I tend to improve it for the next speech. During the speech, I was also a good speaker in many ways. I had a good voice projection, my hand moment was consistent, I was always facing the audienceand held eye contact, and had facial expressions to emphasize the importance of a topic. Right off the bat when I was explaining my citation saying According to the U.S Census Bureau there are alone 5.7% Asian s in the United States, I was pointing my hands to make sure everyone was paying attention to the numbers. Another thing I did well during the speech was, that I kept eye contact with everyone during the speech ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Human Nature in Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now Essay Human Nature in Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness and Francis Ford Coppola s Apocalypse Now the reader learns more and more about human nature as Marlow, Captain Willard, go farther and farther up the river in search of Kurtz. An evil side lies within every man, but this evil remains repressed by society. When moving up the river and farther away from civilization, the evil side begins to break out. Whenever basically different cultures meet we are led to discover ourselves and can even drive us to perceived madness. Both stories are about Man s journey finding himself, and confronting his fears of failure, insanity, culture and even death. Marlow is an early version of Kurtz, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar events occur in Francis Coppola s Apocalypse Now, Captain Willard pushes farther up the river where the solitude from society and the destruction of war tamper with human nature. During the opening scene, Willard is shown in despair, going from America to war and back was too much for him to handle. He moved back to Saigon hoping to find himself. However he does not know his own true self until he discovers Colonel Kurtz s true nature. Throughout the movie, new characters are introduced showing differences in human nature due to the effects of war. For instance the helicopter commander no longer cares for human life anymore; he finds it all right to surf while his men are being killed. He is hardened by the war, meaning he shows no fear. Contrary to that the Chef lives in almost constant fear. With the river and surroundings becoming more and more uncivilized with every mile, he grows more and more afraid. Afraid for his life, afraid he should have joined the navy. Most human beings or at least Americans believe that the most technologically advanced races are the best. Yet a patrol boat armed to the teeth can not do anything against a few villagers with spears and arrows. When the chief of the boat dies from a spear, Captain Willard s eyes are opened to the horror he finds himself trapped in. Just as Marlow s eyes were opened to the same horror when a ... This inheritance of assumptions of risk and if the action is applicable to the case is a question of fact for the jury, and therefore the jury in this matter found it applicable, which was not thereby applicable for a new trial. The jury in the Dillworth matter applied the assumption of risks to all participants in sports, not just the operators of ski resort. In regards to dangerous activities and sports in general the court stated that when a primary assumption of the risk exists there is no liability to the plaintiff because there is no negligence on the part of the defendant to begin with; the danger to the plaintiff is not one which the defendant is required to extinguish or warn about. Having no duty to begin with, there is no breach of duty to constitute negligence, showing that even other participants not just those in charge of the activity can not be negligent for risks that are inherent to the activity. • 6. T-Mobile Case Study A Comeback Story Sonya Nicole Maynes Mesa Community College Introduction The world of telecommunications is a dog eat dog world. Marketing and innovation is key. Leading the pack as America s fastest growing network (*) is none other than T Mobile. Of course it was not always this way. With the on boarding of CEO John Legere in 2012, the then small telecommunications company, skyrocketed to 73 million customers(Feloni, 2016). In 1994 T Mobile, with the name of VoiceStream Wireless PCS, was established by John Stanton. Seven years later it was purchased by Deutsche Telekom AG for a whopping $39 million and rebranded T Mobile US the following year. In 2011 T Mobile was in financial trouble and was looking to be purchased by AT T. The deal was struck down by the US Department of Justice because it would lessen the competition in the market. In early 2012 John Legere became CEO and the rebranding started. T Mobile then went on to acquire MetroPCS Communication in October 2012 to broaden their customer base and increase prepaid service revenue. John Legere then introduced contract free pricing in 2013 which then forced the big guys (Verizon and AT T) to follow suit. Due to their success, Sprint attempted to acquire the company in 2013 but abandoned the idea due to the fact that it was unlikely to be approved by the government (Maynes, 2017). In 2016 there were talks of T Mobile purchasing Sprint. In November of 2017, after months of negotiations and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. How Does Edith Hamilton Use Violence In Greek Mythology Violence appears frequently in mythology. There is physical disorder and destruction, considered the most common. This is present in many of the stories dealing with the hero Hercules. It often feels as though every narrative has a battle, be it a mere skirmish or a great war. Verbal violence also occurs, prominent when Galatea argues with her sister Doris, in the myth concerning Polyphemus and his great love for the nymph. Then there are battles in Olympus, the spat Apollo had with Zeus over the murder of Aesculapius is a fine specimen of this. Furthermore, the Troy Tale, described in Edith Hamilton s classic Mythology, actually incorporates three varieties of violence including physical fights, linguistic quarrels, and even conflict concerning... Hera was determined that the war should not end until Troy was ruined. Athena, sweeping down to the battlefield, persuaded the foolish heart of Pandarus, a Trojan, to break the truce and shoot an arrow at Menelaus, Mythology page 192, it is perspicuous that these two goddesses are meddling in the affairs of mortals. They want Troy demolished, Paris dead, and Aphrodite defeated, and the way the go about this is through humans. Athena coaxes Pandarus to loose his arrow at the Spartan king, knowing the Greeks will be peeved at this and resume the battle. During the onslaught, Olympians are wounded alongside men. Aphrodite is hurt by Diomedes, brave because of Hera, and the Greek s spear, guided by Athena, also strikes Ares. Such actions prompted by these two goddesses are clear evidence that the Olympians are involved in the Trojan War. In addition, the consequences of the behavior of Eris show this particular type of violence. Sly and sneaky, the goddess of discord was not invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, and was naturally angered by this. She flung an apple, marked For The Fairest, into the party. It involves binge eating which is the rapid ingesting of large amounts of food, commonly followed by vomiting, fasting, or purging that is accompanied by depression. An individual with bulimia will attempt to avoid weight gain by vomitingor using laxatives, diuretics, or enemas. It is common to see a bulimic individual restrict their food intake or exercise excessively. Apart from the common misconception that only women develop eating disorders, it is reported that 10% of bulimics are males. I personally never gave any thought to males suffering from an eating disorder. I have always perceived that males with extra weight are more socially acceptable compared to women that carry extra weight, and that commonly men don t view their image as defining to their value. An interesting fact that I did not know is that 50% of individuals with an eating disorder abuse drugs and alcohol. It s not shocking to me that bulimics would abuse drugs and alcohol, not only because it can be used as an escape from the world and themselves, but also because numerous drugs and alcohol effect appetite, usually in a negative way, aiding to weight loss. This disorder really is a never ending cycle. First the body distortion image develops, then the binge eating occurs, followed by guilt that leads to purging, vomiting, etc., which turns into depression that is commonly coped with through drugs, alcohol, or food, which in turn starts the cycle over again. Like most disorders, having a good family and friend support group is important to overcoming or coping with bulimia. • 11. What Instrument Was Best For Me Jazz Standards Music isn t just what I do, it s who I am, and who I ve always been. I play twelve instruments. Some fluently, some only a singular note or, maybe a song. This all started out in sixth grade when I could not decide what instrument was best for me. I started out my first two months of middle school by switching from instrument to instrument. I began with the oboe, and a week later, I changed to percussion. Only then, did I attempt to play all of the brass instruments and I mean all of them trumpet, french horn, tuba, trombone, and baritone, you name it, and I ve probably played it. Next, I moved on to all of the woodwinds, flutes, clarinets, and all of the saxophones. Again, I cycled through the percussion instruments once again. Finally, I decided that I would rather play notes on a staff than beat something with a stick. I was forced, by my very irritated band teacher, to pick one of the two that I was better at, the alto saxophone or the trumpet. Two completely different musical instruments in two completely different musical families. Of course, as an indecisive twelve year old, I could not pick. Mr. Deneen, a woodwind player himself, chose the alto saxophone. The alto saxophone has stuck with me for many years six, to be exact. My sixth grade year I became really good at playing my saxophone. I went from indecisiveness to first chair in a matter of weeks. In fact, I was so talented that I was moved up into the eighth grade band as a sixth grader. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Historical Context Of Nursing Nursing was not always seen as a profession, therefore it is important to explore what a profession is and its historical context related to nursing. Turkoski (1995) states that profession is a social construct that was determined by a male worldview; only men were allowed to have professions. Over time the concept of professionhas moved beyond the gender divide and established a set of criteria that are non gender specific. RNABC (as cited in Northrup et al, 2004) listed attributes that explained how nurses were a profession. These attributes are, responsibility and accountability to the public, have own body of knowledge, bound by a code ethics, provide a service to the public and is self regulating. However, education is missing from the RNABC standards of professional development, according the Merriam Websters dictionary (2015) a profession is, a type of job that requires special education, training or skill and requires specialized knowledge. Bluhm (2014) adds that it is the specialized training that allows someone to be called a nurse. Ten Hoeve, Jansen and Roodbol (2014) agree that education and development of knowledge is the reason why nursing was raised to the professional status. It is reasonable, I think, to assume that most people could have created a landscape painting with mountains being reflected into a sea, and that may have been Dali s goal when he started to paint The Persistence of Memory. However, there remains no doubt that Dali s subconscious was at work here because no one else could ever imagine the exact image depicting melting time as seen here. The conscious part of the brain is the area that is alive and comprehends what is happening to one and the world around one. The landscape, Catalonia, Spain (Dali s hometown), was the result of Dali s conscious mind because he was living it and taking it in with his own two eyes. Everything stemmed from thoughts of daydreams, bad memories, and other possible goods or evils that dwell in the subconscious mind. Wikipedia explains that Sigmund Freud believed that the unconscious mind was a depository of wishes, desires, socially unacceptable ideas, traumatic memories, and/or painful emotions. Dali s painting appears to be representative of mainly the subconscious mind because many of the elements in the painting express objects or ideas that are highly characteristic of memories, dreams, or even socially unacceptable elements. • 30. Notes On Sound And Noise 2.1SOUND AND NOISE: Sound is the variation of pressure in an elastic medium (such as air) caused by a mechanical disturbance. The movement of molecules in a transmitting medium caused by a disturbance results in pressure oscillations above (compressions) and below (rarefactions) the ambient pressure level. The oscillation of sound pressure variations is referred to as a sound wave. A sound wave will move through an ideal medium longitudinally and omnidirectionally. The oscillation frequency of a sound wave determines the pitch of a sound, which is measured in Hertz (Hz). The healthy human ear can typically discern frequencies between 20 and 20,000 Hz. The amplitude of the pressure oscillations of a sound wave describes the amount of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hard surfaces such as smooth wood or metal often reflect sound waves well but attenuate sound poorly. Conversely, soft, porous surfaces usually reflect sound waves poorly but attenuate sound waves well. Reflected sound waves can increase the overall SPL in an area, as the reflected wave essentially becomes an additional sound source. Sound behaves predictably in the far field (i.e., far enough away from individual sound sources relative to the size of the sound sources) and most sound measurement equipment can only accurately measure SPLs in the far field. The measurement of sound generated by a source within a reflective chamber (reverberant field) is more difficult because the large number of reflections increase the overall SPL if the measurement is also made within the reflective chamber. SPLs measured in the reverberant field of the ear cannot directly be compared to SPLs in the free field without first compensating for the higher SPLs at certain frequencies caused by the resonance of the ear canal. 2.2AUDITION: Audition, or the perception of sound, is accomplished via the complex transformation from sound pressure waves to electrical nerve impulses and interpretation in the brain. • 34. Analysis Of The Book The Big Boat The Big Boat Going to the LACMA art museum was a very good experience to see many different types of artwork by different artists. In 1920 Robert Michel created a painting named Ship , which it contained many visual elements such as cool and warm colors curvilinear geometric figures. First of all, Michel shows the viewer a lot of curvilinear lines meaning a consisting of, bounded by, or characterized by a curved line, or a along a curved line of a set of coordinates determined by or determining a system of three orthogonal surfaces (definition from the internet). Geometric meaning, a set of points or vertices lines connecting the points in a closed chain, as well as the resulting interior points. Such shapes are called polygons and include triangles, squares, and pentagons (definition from the internet). And irregular shapes meaning polygon that does not have all sides equal and all angles equal. A polygon is regular only when all angles are equal and all sides are equal, otherwise it is irregular (definition from the internet). He also adds warm, cool and intensity colors to catch the viewer attention. The person analyzing the painting really has to pay very close attention to Micheles art work. Michele tends to add a lot of small detail to his art work mostly about life; such as the sea representing water, animals like elephants, numbers, moving flags representing air, two humans in the house representing a family, a clock representing time, rims, and boats both ... Dr.Strangelove Film Analysis Essay example Introduction In 1964, Stanley Kubrick released Dr. Strangelove or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb to both critical and commercial praise. The historical context surrounding the film s release was at the height of the Cold War, just over a year after the Cuban Missile Crisis as the Vietnam War was beginning to escalate. While based on a more serious book, Red Alert by Peter George, it was soon transformed into a black comedy that parodied the absurdity of global nuclear destruction and the mentality of the Cold War. While not as overtly anti war as his third film Paths of Glory, Kubrick still manages to show the ridiculousness of nuclear war while linking two basic male instincts together, sex and the desire to kill. ... While Strangelove admits that women are essential to the survival of mankind, the motivations of women are suspicious. The constant waiting creates a life of its own within his mind and a sense of deep apprehension that the same people he has abused will take their revenge. In his office, Ripper is usually shot in high contrast lighting.
