Marketing Strategies in Las Vegas
Product Branding Las Vegas Style
Las Vegas is one of the nation s favorite points of interest for vacationing. It s a 24 hour/ 365 day a
year city where anything is possible. With Las Vegas being a loved past time and where dreams of
striking it rich can came true, there is another side that no one bothers to mention, the reality side.
Las Vegas has many attractions and more casinos than any other place in the world. They offer
entertainment for the whole family, unique marriages, and most recently plenty of activities for
children. Which means that companies must position themselves to be continuously
communicative to their potential consumers, including the kids (Kotler, 2010, p. 210). Which also

also shows a different feature of the actual product. The quality of service is a little different but the
brand named items and packaging (along with prices) still were the same.(2005, Vol.2). With this
new line of service, the need to sell the products effectively they must take into consideration the
effect that the packaging should have on the customers and the way in which displays of this
particular product are arranged. A good idea would be to have their town covered with riches on
the cover or something similar to encourage people to look and to buy the product and not be
considered with the price of the product.(Kotler, 2010, p.191). The marketers have generated a
newsletter that they also use to target potential vacationers, with emphasizing the choice to come to
Vegas or Stay at home with Virtual Vegas. Overall it can be said that Las Vegas product brand is
an existing one, with line extension, public and personal branding the possibilities are endless. They
utilize many multi brands with the hotels and casinos being in the same package. Yet there are

The Effects Of Reading On Reading For Pleasure
Forced/required/assigned reading has a significant effect on all students. Forced reading is reading
assigned by school teachers to students who will eventually be tested over the plot, characters,
themes and/or other details in the book. Many students don t realize that required reading is much
different than readingfor pleasure. Testing over assigned readingrequires a student to pay attention
to several small details that would otherwise be overlooked if they were reading on their own.
Although it is required reading, many students find ways around it by searching the internet for
Sparknotes, Cliff Notes, plot summaries, character lists, etc. to give them an overview of the bookto
excel on the tests they are given. Required reading can have an effect on a person s idea of reading
for pleasure for the rest of their life. So, how does assigned reading affect a student s view on
reading for pleasure both positively and negatively?
Although almost all students despise assigned reading, it can have significant positive outcomes.
There are so many other forms of entertainment that have become more popular in today s world,
such as video games, movies, athletic event and social media. With this in mind, forced reading
can be positive, because most students would never have the motivation to pick up a book,
magazine article, newspaper, etc. on their own time if they did not have assigned reading for
school. It exposes some of these students to reading that would otherwise

Diction And Imagery In The Weary Blues By Langston Hughes
This poem is entitled The Weary Blues and is written by Langston Hughes. It was originally
published in 1926 in the Urban League Magazine. The time period in which this poem was
written consisted of a lot of slavery of dark skinned people. Moreover, the collection that this poem
is extracted from, also entitled The Weary Blues , focuses on the struggles and experiences of
African Americans at that time. It was during the time period of these struggles when the Africans
brought the blues, originally originated from the Africans, to America. The arrival of this genre of
music into America explains the situation that is dealt with in this poem, which is a Negro man
singing and playing the blues to himself. Hughes use of poetic devices in this... Show more content

Lenox Avenue is a street in Harlem, New York; which, at the time, and even currently, do
African Americans mainly populate. Secondly, the use of imagery portrays his skin colour as it
describes his ebony hands (9). Given the time period, the physical description of the character
allows readers to understand why he d be singing the blues. Emotionally, the man in this poem
seems to be quite lonely. This is demonstrated through the lyrics he sings: Ain t got nobody in all
this world, /Ain t got nobody but ma self (19 20). The diction in these lyrics allows readers to see
that the man feels alone in this world. Furthermore, in the second stanza, he continues his song:
I got the Weary Blues / And I can t be satisfied / Got the Weary Blues / And can t be satisfied / I
ain t happy no mo / And I wish that I had died (25 30). The use of repetition in these lyrics,
excluding the word I the second time, emphasizes that he is unsatisfied but also suggests that he
is the voice of other African Americans that were dealing with a lifestyle like his. The poem ends
by stating that the man slept like a rock or a man that s dead (35). This simile is significant
because it conveys that the subject is lifeless and supports the ideas that he was singing about. His
use of, and, passion in music is portrayed through the personification of a piano: he made that poor

NIMS, what is it? What does it stand for? Well, it is a term that we expect all FEMA leaders to

April 21, 2015 Communist Manifesto s Impact on 19th Century France
Growing up in the United States, communism immediately causes people to cringe. Yes many
attempts at communist societies have gone horribly wrong, however the motives behind communism
are powerful. They hope to tear down the social classes that capitalism forms, they hope to educate
women and form a society where the proletariat is paid for their work by the government in order to
distribute the wealth evenly. The Communist Manifesto is a political pamphlet explaining the
communist beliefs. The Manifesto s effect on history cannot be stressed enough. It had an
immediate impact in 19th century France. The powerful messages embedded within the
Communist Manifesto impels people to take action, serving as a driving force in the French
Revolution of 1848, and is recognized as the platform for which the Paris Commune based their
government off of. The Communist Manifesto, written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, is a
political pamphlet summarizing Marx and Engels political theories on communism. Marx and
Engels were German authors and revolutionaries with unique ideas for their time. Engels joined the
Communist League in 1847, where he outlined twenty two questions about communism in the
Draft of the Communist Confession of Faith (Engels). These ideals were restructured and published
four months later in his piece, The Principles of Communism . Marx saw value in

The Islamic Ethical Principles Of Euthanasia Essay
HOW DOES ISLAM RESPOND TO EUTHANASIA?
INTRODUCTION
The objective of my inquiry is to find and investigate the Islamic ethical principles of the act of
euthanasia, to see how Islam responds to euthanasia. The Islamic ethical principles that this
investigation addresses includes the sanctity of human life and how only Allah has the right to
decide the length of our lives, in relation to evidence given by the authentic Islamic sources of
Quran, Hadith (sayings of the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him]), and opinions
of both Islamic scholars and medical experts. These sources have been used to inform and validate
my research. The research reveals that the Islamic perspective of euthanasia is a negative one, as it
is completely forbidden by the laws of Islam. To assist my research, a number of sources have been
used such as verses from the Quran, hadiths, and articles on Islamic medical ethics. I have used
multiple sources because this offers a reinforcement of the perspectives presented when addressing
each ethical principle of euthanasia.
EUTHANASIA
Euthanasia has been a major issue and subject of intense ethical debates throughout the course of
its existence. It has been a great issue in the perspective of human rights, as it affects the legal,
ethical, and medical issues regarding the patients and health care providers involved. This
paragraph will discuss the legal and ethical issues regarding euthanasia (both passive and active),

Lonliness is such a major theme throughout the book and reflects in other pieces of media,

Benito Mussolini s Ambiguity Of Fascism
Fascism such as that displayed in post World War 1 Italy was in many ways a contradictory
ideology; anti modernism contrasted with technological obsession and anti democratic views
paired with capitalism. Despite this ambiguity of the fascist ideology, one clear characteristic
among almost all fascists throughout history has been a heavy focus on militarism an aspect of
Mussolini s Italy which was intrinsically tied to his use of terror and force to achieve fascist
political agendas. For evidence of Benito Mussolini s heavy handed political tactics, one must first
examine how his fascist party first rose to power in a country which had been a constitutional
monarchy for many years prior. Although Italy had been among the allied victors of

Critical Analysis Of Symphonie Fantastique
During the Romanic period, there were many advances in regards to instrumentation, and the size
of a typical orchestra increased in size and range, adding in more instruments to the wind, brass and
percussion sections. Symphonie Fantastique, by Hector Berlioz, was no exception, and was written
for an extensive orchestraof 220 players, including, piccolos, flutes, oboes, horns, clarinets,
bassoons, cornets, trumpets, trombones, tuba (or ophicleides), timpani, bells, a wide variety of
percussion, bells, violins, violas, cellos and double basses. Through this symphony, various
instruments have programmatic purposes to develop the scene, such as the pizzicato strings in the
4th movement, representing the head bouncing after he was decapitated, and the clarinet in E flat
and bassoons in the 5th movement, depicting bubbles rising in a cauldron.
Both movements 4 and 5 were through composed, featuring various musical fragments and themes.
Movement 4 features two key themes in addition to the idГ©e fixe, whilst Movement 5 centred
around 3 musical themes; the Beloved (Harriet), the Great Shout, and the Fearsome Crowd. An
idГ©e fixe is a melodic fragment that returns throughout, and in Symphonie Fantastique, it
references the Beloved, Harriet, and varies in rhythm, tempo, metre, instrumentation and harmony
throughout to change the character. In the 4th movement, he is getting taken to the scaffolds. The
solo clarinet plays it from beat 3 of bar 164 to 168, however, it is abruptly

The Good And The Evil
The Good and The Evil
There is good and there is bad, I was only twelve when I figured this out the hard way. It was late
during school when an alarm went off. I was a kid what can go wrong I thought to myself as I
foolishly opened a door we were clearly prohibited to open because of a gun man near our school.
This very action lead the school to expel me and this would change my life for the good. Although
my bad decisions helped me know better, it s the bad that lead these three myths to suffer long life
consequences that ultimately explain why the earth is why it is today. These three myths show the
struggles and obstacles the Hebrew, Cherokee, and Maori people had to overcome because of their
vicious ways and or their actions under certain obstacles that challenged the people of these myths.
In the Yahweh myth the author communicates In the garden was a snake, and the snake persuaded
the women that she could eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil without
dying...She ate the fruit, and gave some to the man too. (Creation Story World 33). Therefore, the
snake making this bad decision, led to Yahweh cursing the snake shouting, you will be cursed by
crawling your whole life and the women s children will eat you, the women being Eve, whom he
had beguiled into eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But not only was the snake
cursed, Adam and Eve were also cursed. Yahweh told Eve that she would be cured to suffer the
pain of childbirth and

The First Arduino Essay
The first Arduino was introduced in 2005, aiming to provide a low cost, easy way for novices and
professionals to create devices that interact with their environment using sensors and actuators.
Common examples of such devices intended for beginner hobbyists include simple robots,
thermostats, and motion detectors. Arduino boards are available commercially in preassembled
form, or as do it yourself kits. The hardware design specifications are openly available, allowing
the Arduino boards to be produced by anyone. Adafruit Industries estimated in mid 2011 that over
300,000 official Arduinos had been commercially produced, and in 2013 that 700,000 official
boards were in users hands. Hardware: An Arduino board consists of an Atmel 8 , 16 or 32 bit AVR
microcontroller (although since 2015 other makers microcontrollers have been used) with
complementary components that facilitate programming and incorporation into other circuits. An
important aspect of the Arduino is its standard connectors, which let users connect the CPU board
to a variety of interchangeable add on modules termed shields. Some shields communicate with the
Arduino board directly over various pins, but many shields are individually addressable via an IВІC
serial bus so many shields can be stacked and used in parallel. Before 2015, Official Arduinos had
used the Atmel mega AVR series of chips, specifically the ATmega8, ATmega168, ATmega328,
ATmega1280, and ATmega2560. In 2015, units by other producers were

Cooking Is The Art And Science Of Cooking
Introduction:
Cooking is the art and science of preparing food for eating by the application of heat . It includes
full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats,
fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning
meals. Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast
killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the
customary raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole
culinary technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France
began to steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard
procedures as toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat
liquids, no further culinary advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made
culinary methods improved with the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during
Neolithic Period . The cooking techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient
forms of pickling, frying, and oven baking were added. Early cooks ... Show more content on

The Archetypal Themes Of Feminism In Beauty And The Beast
In the 1991 movie Beauty and the Beast the Narrator said, She warned him not to be deceived by
appearances, for beauty is found within. this quote refers to the archetypal theme of the Beauty and
the Beast. However, this archetypal theme of Beauty and the Beast is coincidentally parallel to the

When the fairy tale story Beauty and the Beast is evaluated from the critical viewpoints of
Archetypal, Feminism, and Morals, readers may discover that Shrek shares the same viewpoints.
To analyze the critical viewpoint of feminism in the stories of Beauty the Beast and Shrek,
certain questions a feminist would ask should be answered. For instance, Is the society in the

people with a vast amount of capabilities.Regardless of Belle and Fiona s expectations from their
fellow neighbors Belle was able to save her dad by sacrificing herself to the Beast. In addition,
Fiona beat up Robin Hood just as he was trying to save her when she didn t need saving. In the

A Young Girl s Growth to Maturity in Persepolis by Marjane...
The graphic novel Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi is a political and personal account of a young
girl s growth to maturity. The novel serves as an autobiography of the author s childhood in Tehren,
Iran. It describes what it was like to grow up during the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the end of the
Shah s regime, and the war with Iraq. One of the most prominent themes in the novel is the clash
between modernity and fundamentalism. The reader can observe this conflict through Irans internal
oppositions, the Satrapi s modernity, and Marji s western soci political beliefs. This aspect of the
novel is important because it shows the ideological diversity within Iran and the consequences
faced by those in the opposition.
Iran s conflict between modernism and fundamentalism can be seen in the novel s focus on the
political prisoners. Marji encounters various men that were incarcerated for holding extreme leftist
views, including her uncle, and the consequences they faced. In the chapter The Heroes Marji is
exposed to the various torture methods induced to make the prisoners betray others who shared
their discontent. This can be seen when Marji s father asks about Ahmadi and Siamk, the newly
freed prisoner, tells them, ... Ahmadi was assassinated. As a member of the guerrillas, he suffered
hell (54). In making this comment, Ahmadi shows the intensity with which fierce opponents were

Formerly known as the European Champions Clubs Cup (European Cup) the UCL was the result of
a measured overhaul of European football, in response to advances in technology, namely satellite
television. The challenge the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) faced was how best
to oversee this transitional phase whilst maintaining the crucial brand equity attached to the
European Cup brand name.
The report will discuss the affiliation between UEFA and marketingspecialists Television Event
and Media Marketing (TEAM). The writer will show that this association was fundamental to the
emergence of the UCL and discuss the strategies developed by TEAM to ensure the competition
was seen as a credible and visible brand.
The writer will provide evidence to suggest that the shrewd branding of the UCL and the cognisant
approach taken towards the competitions life cycle have been major influences in this meteoric rise.
2. Background Information
It has been suggested that the UCL is a product of societal evolution. After forty years without
change the European Cup had become commercially obsolete to broadcasters and sponsors due to
the lack of guaranteed matches involving Europe s biggest clubs (Ahlstrom, 2002). The knockout
format allowed for clubs who would bring in large sums of revenue to be eliminated after merely

a missionary was a person spreading the word of God and after years of doing so we have
diminished many different beliefs, practices, cultures and history. At the time it was thought to
be the right thing, to spread out and share the gospel to help people find meaning and
acceptance. In today s age a missionary is a lot of different things, in many cases it is more
focused on the health and physical wellbeing of the people. Many people still share the gospel
through missionary work, but in other cases it is more of a material aid. Donovan introduces the
book as a voyage of discovery he wants us to put our normal beliefs aside to see his perspective of
living a missionaries life and struggling with the fact of if you are helping or hurting.
Donovan speaks about the missionaries who came to East Africa after they were taken into
slavery. The missionaries thought it would be a good idea to come over and buy the people to
save them from harsh lives, so they bought as many as they could. Doing this they also taught them
all of their customs and where forced into Christianity instead of their beliefs ways and cultures.

The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven Analysis
In the story The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie, points out the
hardships of being a Native American back in the 20th century. These hardships were racism,
alcoholism, poverty and isolation. The story takes place in the reservation and it is about a
young Native American whom struggles in society because of his skin color, family s
addictions and fights. The narrator moves to Seattle with his white girlfriend who he seems to
have an odd relationship because they are constantly fighting. He becomes an alcoholic and
moves back to the reservation after a break up with his girlfriend. The story begins with the
narrator who enters a 7 11 store at three in the morning to be exact. The cashier looks at him in a
frightened way as if he was a criminal and becomes aware of every action that he does in the
store. Of course, this is something that still goes on today, specially at 7 11 stores and I once
experienced it. The cashier acted in a racist manner because he judges the guy due to his dark
skin color and thought he was a robber. Although the narrator did understand the reason why the
cashier behaved that way as he once worked in a 7 11 store and was robbed. The narrator started
fooling around with the cashier by making him more frightened, but the cashier noticed that he
wasn t a bad guy and offered him the Creamsicle for free. The narrator moves to Seattle and lives
with his white girlfriend who he is constantly fighting all the time. He breaks

The Universe is something that has been explored for years and years. Over time, our
understandings and beliefs on the Universe and our world has changed due to new technologies
and discoveries. The Big Bang Theory is one example of an concept that is actively believed
within the scientific community and has been made well known in our world today. This theory,
which can be used to explain the origin and age of our universe, has been refined over the years
through a reviewing process in the scientific community as more discoveries came in due to new
technological advancements.
Put simply, the Big Bang theory is most supported and believed theory on how the Universe began.

The Hubble Space Telescope is a telescope that was launched into space in 1990, April 24th. Its
primary function was to take pictures of stars, planets, moons, galaxies, etc. This type of
telescope is different from a telescope such as the Hooker Telescope as it is in space, rather than
on Earth, and was used for different things. Over the many years that this extraordinary telescope
has orbited in space, it has helped scientists with many new discoveries and refined previous
theories or beliefs. One of the biggest discoveries this telescope has made is the discovery of
galaxies that we did not know of previously because they were so far away. This discovery was
very important as it has lead scientists to calculating a more accurate age of the universe. The
Hubble Space Telescope made this discovery by observing Cepheid variables, which are stars
with the same average brightness. Although, their brightness is essentially the same, the stars
would seem either brighter or dimmer depending on its position in relation to Earth. For
example, if one Cepheid variable was 100,000 light years away and another Cepheid variable
was 200,000 light years away, the second star would seem dimmer as it is further away from the
Earth and our perspective makes it look like it is not as bright. Scientists can use this
observation to work out around how far away a Cepheid variable, and ultimately a galaxy, is
from the Earth. Using this information and the pictures taken by the Hubble Space Telescope,
scientists were able to work out a more accurate age of the universe which was around 13.75
billion years old. Without this sort of technology, we wouldn t know as much about the universe
as we do now and we may not have been able to refine our knowledge on the age of the universe.
To sum up, the Hubble Space Telescope is an important piece of

The Idea For Bloom s Taxonomy
The idea for Bloom s Taxonomy was born in 1948 during an informal meeting at the American
Psychological Association Convention in Boston, by Benjamin S Bloom and a committee of
over 30 leading educators. (Bloom, Engelhart, Furst, Hill Krathwol, 1956 p. 4) Although the
taxonomy is general referred to as Bloom s Taxonomy, the work is considered a group product
that came form many revisions. (Bloom et al., 1956 p.9) The original work of Bloom s Taxonomy
(OW) came in the form of handbook, titled the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives: The
Classification of Educational Goals. The Taxonomy of Educational Objectives consisted of the
cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 7) The cognitive domain
focused on sex level... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Bloom et al., 1956 p. 5) However, the committee agreed that since educational objectives can be
view in behavior form and behavior of individuals can be observed and measured, a classification
could be applied. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 7) To fully understand the OW, it is important to define
and clarify the term taxonomy as it is used in the handbook. The term taxonomy refers to the
classification systems that have made the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives so popular in the
world of education today. (Seaman, 2011 p. 30) The classification system was intended to
measure the degree to which student learned and intend educational behavior. (Bloom et al., 1956
p. 12) The committee likened its taxonomy system, to the classification of book in a library.
(Bloom et al., 1956 p. 9) The OW classifications are; 1) Knowledge 2) Comprehension 3)
Application 4) Analysis 5) Synthesis and 6) Evaluation. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 18) These six
classifications comprise a tiered learning system that teachers used to push students through when
implementing an instructional model based on the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives in the OW.
Each classification level presented a higher amount of rigor, which required students to think more
critically. (McKay, 1956) The OW of Bloom s taxonomy suggested that critical thinking and higher
order skills are essential to student development. Essentially, the OW was designed to provide
teachers with a

of a mother then John s mom can ever be. Miss Cooper has this unique distinction about her
dominant female presence. She is a very strong and smart woman not only the way she handles and
raises the adopted children but because she runs a farm and maintains all the housework that
comes with that. On top of that she has some one on one time with each kid. If you have one
child, making sure you have solo time with that child, too. When the oldest child went off to out

Axonal Nerve Injuries
Introduction
Nerve injury is not fatal but can severely impact quality of life. Peripheral nerve injuries occur in
an estimated 2 3% of all patients admitted to a Level 1 trauma center (1) and are commonly caused
by trauma to the upper limbs. The economic impact of nerve injuries can be large with operative
costs, hospital charges, rehabilitation visits, and lost time at work. Only subtle improvements to
peripheral nerve repair have been made recently, and our current knowledge of nerve physiology
and regeneration vastly exceeds our current repair capabilities.
Poor outcomes of peripheral nerve injury are largely due to the slow process of axonal outgrowth.
After nerve injury, severed proximal axons with intact cell bodies can grow up ... Show more

The proposed mechanism is PEG induced lipid bilayer fusion by removing the hydration barrier
surrounding the axolemma and reducing the activation energy required for membrane fusion to
occur. In an axonal injury without PEG, axonal endings seal after an influx of calcium,
preventing axonal fusion (6). Figure 1 demonstrates the bioengineered process of PEG fusion.
When severed axonal endings are exposed to calcium free hypotonic saline and an antioxidant
(i.e. Methylene Blue or Melatonin), vesicle mediated sealing is decreased, keeping membrane
leaflets open. PEG is then applied to artificially induce closely apposed membranes of severed
axonal ends to flow into each other and fuse. This produces a partial repair of the plasmalemmal
membranes that are then perfused with calcium containing saline, which causes vesicles to
accumulate and seal remaining holes at the injury site. This process is known as PEG fusion.
The success of our PEG fusion technique is based on multiple factors including PEG, calcium,
nerve stump approximation, and an antioxidant Methylene Blue (MB) (Figure 1). PEG, a
hydrophilic compound, enhances axonal fusion in either severed or crushed settings and restores
the ability to generate compound action potentials across the site of injury. PEG potentially
facilitates lipid bilayer fusion by removing water molecules from the lipid bilayer at or near the
damage site (Figure

It s hard. This city. I live in a tough city in a tough world, and that makes it hard.
Sometimes I love it here. Sometimes New York is life on the brink. It s people struggling to
survive, their will alone carrying them through. It s energy and intensity, and everything taken to
extremes. Sometimes it s the clichГ© of the dirt and suffering, the grey isolation that inspires and

But there are times when it is none of that. Times when all I see are empty shells running as fast

Community For My Old Volunteer Group
Community for me, is feeling connected, accepted, and at home. It is where everyone is
working together for a mutual cause, and having fun doing it. It is not so much a place to me,
as it is a feeling. I can go to any town, city, or community but it does not necessarily take a place
in my heart as much as the sense of community I have experienced before. What other place to
find community than my old volunteer group, ironically called FOCUS on Community.
FOCUS is an organization whose mission is to reach out to the people of our community, like
teens and families, to prevent substance abuse, smoking, alcoholism, and even to help families
that are already dealing with these issues. My favorite program was the F.A.S.T. program
Families And Schools Together because I worked one on one with people and really saw that
we were making a difference in these people s lives. At the time I first volunteered for F.A.S.T. I
did not realize exactly what I was doing, I merely signed up because I wanted to help out in some
way. However, I soon realized that we truly were bringing these families closer. We gave them a
safe environment with dinner and activities, and a chance every week to have one on one time with
the child of their choice. This helped them solve arguments and build stronger and closer
relationships with children who are having a rough time. Another place where I felt an immense
sense of community was Italian Fest. I have volunteered at this festival for the past

Essay on Comparing Othello and The Great Gatsby
All tragedies eventually end in chaos; however, Othello and The Great Gatsby both begin with
innocent characters thinking little about the possibility of disarray. During the climax of both
works it becomes evident that the idea of order is doomed, inevitably leading to a bounding spiral
of problems. The Great Gatsbyand Othelloboth end in chaos because the protagonists, Othello and
Gatsby are outsiders entering an ordered society. The actions of many characters cause confusion in
the storyline, and the chaos in both works gradually impact the downfall of every character.

This brings about chaos, as Daisy has been unaware of Gatsby s illegal ventures and how he made

Both Shakespeare and Fitzgerald want the reader to understand that sometimes many characters
can be to blame for the chaos that occurs. One may think that the downfall of the plots happen
solely because of the actions of the protagonists, Gatsby and Othello, when in reality, many other
characters are to blame. In Othello, Iago is behind Othello s deception making him believe that
his wife, Desdemona is unfaithful. Iago uses the other characters as pawns in his game to achieve
his main objective, obtaining the spot as lieutenant. During a party at Cyprus, Roderigo
convinces Cassio, upon encouragement by Iago, to drink and have a good time. This ends in a
fight between Roderigo and Cassio who then says, reputation, reputation, reputation (Shakespeare
2.3.281). Cassio is expressing his sadness as he is in fear that he has ruined his reputation after
Othello dismisses him from his place as lieutenant. Iago s plan has begun and he has already
played his first move, adding to the already visible chaos. Unlike Iago, Gatsby is not trying to

Analysis Of Mabel s Strange Predicament
Mabel s Strange Predicament is a 1914 American comedy film starring Charles Chaplin,
famously known for being the first time Chaplin wears the tramp costume. The movie was token
place in a hotel lobby. A drunk man, the tramp, runs into Mabel and tries to engage in a
conversation. Mabel walks away and goes on a date with her lover. Once Mabel returns, she goes
to her room and plays with her dog. While leaving her room for a quick moment, the door closes
and she gets locked out in her pajamas. The trampcomes up the stairs and finds her. He tries to
grab her but she escapes. As she tries to hide, she enters the room next to hers and hides under
the bed. In the room is a man whose wife recently left to complain to the manager about Mabel.
Her lover comes and knocks on Mabel s door to visit but gets no response; he decides to wait for
her with his friend, Mabel s neighbor. Soon he discovers Mabel under the bed and assumes that
she is having an affair with the neighbor. The wife enters the room and assumes the same as the
lover. After fighting, Mabel is kicked out and finds the tramp again. The lover fights off the tramp
and realizes it was the drunken man s fault that Mabel was hiding under the bed. Mabel and her
lover reconcile while the older couple continue to fight. This film shows a great representation of
the timeperiod and what we learned because of how it demonstrated the views of women, black, and
drunkeness.

A Experiment On Paramecium Experiment Essay
Paramecium Experiment Introduction The purpose of the paramecium experiment was to observe
competition or allelopathy between two different species of paramecium in the laboratory.
Allelopathy is a way organisms inhibit or affect other organisms when developing in nature. This
insures the survival of one organism against another organism. For instance in plants, some can
release a chemical that enters the environment and inhibits the growth and development of
surrounding plants. Another example in nature is plants developing defenses to prevent herbivores
from eating them. This kind of competition happens in nature when the need for resources is
limited and survival is necessary. Competition is displayed throughout nature all the time. A man
named Georgy Gause previously conducted this experiment between P. aurelia and P. caudatum. He
determined that different factors influence how the two species compete and coexist. Ever since
then not many scientist have attempted to experiment on paramecium. Only until recently have
more experiments been attempted. The issue with the experiment was that it was conducted in
1935 and nowadays there are more advance ways to conduct and interpret the experiment and
results. As previously stated, knowledge on this particular subject has been limited. Ever since
Gause s experiment, not many other scientists have attempted it until recently. As a class, the
experiment was a way to observe competition and better interpret the results gathered

how the dead can still be alive through literature. He wants to show how she will continue to live

with the constant death in Vietnam. Similar to Linda, O Brien is able to bring Norman Bowker

people under the law. The two articles I will be analyzing, After Orlando, a Political Divide on
Gay Rights Still Stands and Gay rights and wrongs: How the Orlando massacre affects the fight for
LGBT rights furthers the discourse among the divide in Congress over gay rights.
My first article, After Orlando, a Political Divide on Gay Rights still Stands, published in the

The writers show it s time for the argument to exist using logos stating, Gays have surpassed Jews

Childhood Dreams In As I Grew Older By Langston Hughes
Dreams, whether completely bizarre ones that leave you awakened in the early morning hours
and utterly confused, or wistful daydreams that drift into your head during a particularly
uneventful math class, or simply a scene you envision yourself starring in ten years down the
line, are all affected more or less by goals you have for yourself or your path in life. However,
humans are seasons, shedding their dreams with the appearance of any wall, just as trees cast
off their leaves. As one ages, and obstacles begin to clutter the eagerness and determination of a
young mind, one is likely to give up on or alter their aspirations rather than face the walls that
close them off from achieving their dreams. Langston Hughes s poem, As I Grew Older,
illustrates just that the struggle that the he has had while attempting to achieve his childhood
dreams due to obstacles that clutter his path to success. As a child, everything seems possible,
and, as one ages, they often look back to that period as a golden age, wistfully recalling the
endless capabilities available to them. Hughes is just one of many who look back to their
childhood days, reminiscing about the times when their dreams were just another item on their
checklist and anything was possible. Langston Hughes illustrates the prospects of his young self s
dream as being bright like a sun (Line 5). He uses figurative language in the form of a simile to
highlight the attainability that his childhood wish used to

It was a Friday, I hopped off the bus and sprinted home as fast as I could to pack my clothes in

minute to leave for Oklahoma. I grabbed my suitcase and flung it carelessly on my bed. I was so

Suddenly i remembered that I left a shirt in the laundry room. I stepped down from my bed and
felt something cut through my toe like butter. I looked down and saw a big piece of glass with
blood dripping down the side.
Immediately I knew what happened. With my quick thinking, I grabbed my cell phone and I
hopped into the bathroom. Trying my best not to get blood on the clean carpet. I sat on the edge of

  • 3. The Effects Of Reading On Reading For Pleasure Forced/required/assigned reading has a significant effect on all students. Forced reading is reading assigned by school teachers to students who will eventually be tested over the plot, characters, themes and/or other details in the book. Many students don t realize that required reading is much different than readingfor pleasure. Testing over assigned readingrequires a student to pay attention to several small details that would otherwise be overlooked if they were reading on their own. Although it is required reading, many students find ways around it by searching the internet for Sparknotes, Cliff Notes, plot summaries, character lists, etc. to give them an overview of the bookto excel on the tests they are given. Required reading can have an effect on a person s idea of reading for pleasure for the rest of their life. So, how does assigned reading affect a student s view on reading for pleasure both positively and negatively? Although almost all students despise assigned reading, it can have significant positive outcomes. There are so many other forms of entertainment that have become more popular in today s world, such as video games, movies, athletic event and social media. Moreover, the collection that this poem is extracted from, also entitled The Weary Blues , focuses on the struggles and experiences of African Americans at that time. It was during the time period of these struggles when the Africans brought the blues, originally originated from the Africans, to America. Lenox Avenue is a street in Harlem, New York; which, at the time, and even currently, do African Americans mainly populate. Secondly, the use of imagery portrays his skin colour as it describes his ebony hands (9). Given the time period, the physical description of the character allows readers to understand why he d be singing the blues. Emotionally, the man in this poem seems to be quite lonely. This is demonstrated through the lyrics he sings: Ain t got nobody in all this world, /Ain t got nobody but ma self (19 20). The diction in these lyrics allows readers to see that the man feels alone in this world. Furthermore, in the second stanza, he continues his song: I got the Weary Blues / And I can t be satisfied / Got the Weary Blues / And can t be satisfied / I ain t happy no mo / And I wish that I had died (25 30). The use of repetition in these lyrics, excluding the word I the second time, emphasizes that he is unsatisfied but also suggests that he is the voice of other African Americans that were dealing with a lifestyle like his. The poem ends by stating that the man slept like a rock or a man that s dead (35). This simile is significant because it conveys that the subject is lifeless and supports the ideas that he was singing about. • 7. The Islamic Ethical Principles Of Euthanasia Essay HOW DOES ISLAM RESPOND TO EUTHANASIA? INTRODUCTION The objective of my inquiry is to find and investigate the Islamic ethical principles of the act of euthanasia, to see how Islam responds to euthanasia. The Islamic ethical principles that this investigation addresses includes the sanctity of human life and how only Allah has the right to decide the length of our lives, in relation to evidence given by the authentic Islamic sources of Quran, Hadith (sayings of the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him]), and opinions of both Islamic scholars and medical experts. These sources have been used to inform and validate my research. The research reveals that the Islamic perspective of euthanasia is a negative one, as it is completely forbidden by the laws of Islam. To assist my research, a number of sources have been used such as verses from the Quran, hadiths, and articles on Islamic medical ethics. I have used multiple sources because this offers a reinforcement of the perspectives presented when addressing each ethical principle of euthanasia. EUTHANASIA Euthanasia has been a major issue and subject of intense ethical debates throughout the course of its existence. It has been a great issue in the perspective of human rights, as it affects the legal, ethical, and medical issues regarding the patients and health care providers involved. Benito Mussolini s Ambiguity Of Fascism Fascism such as that displayed in post World War 1 Italy was in many ways a contradictory ideology; anti modernism contrasted with technological obsession and anti democratic views paired with capitalism. Despite this ambiguity of the fascist ideology, one clear characteristic among almost all fascists throughout history has been a heavy focus on militarism an aspect of Mussolini s Italy which was intrinsically tied to his use of terror and force to achieve fascist political agendas. Critical Analysis Of Symphonie Fantastique During the Romanic period, there were many advances in regards to instrumentation, and the size of a typical orchestra increased in size and range, adding in more instruments to the wind, brass and percussion sections. Symphonie Fantastique, by Hector Berlioz, was no exception, and was written for an extensive orchestraof 220 players, including, piccolos, flutes, oboes, horns, clarinets, bassoons, cornets, trumpets, trombones, tuba (or ophicleides), timpani, bells, a wide variety of percussion, bells, violins, violas, cellos and double basses. Through this symphony, various instruments have programmatic purposes to develop the scene, such as the pizzicato strings in the 4th movement, representing the head bouncing after he was decapitated, and the clarinet in E flat and bassoons in the 5th movement, depicting bubbles rising in a cauldron. Both movements 4 and 5 were through composed, featuring various musical fragments and themes. Movement 4 features two key themes in addition to the idГ©e fixe, whilst Movement 5 centred around 3 musical themes; the Beloved (Harriet), the Great Shout, and the Fearsome Crowd. • 15. The First Arduino Essay The first Arduino was introduced in 2005, aiming to provide a low cost, easy way for novices and professionals to create devices that interact with their environment using sensors and actuators. Common examples of such devices intended for beginner hobbyists include simple robots, thermostats, and motion detectors. Arduino boards are available commercially in preassembled form, or as do it yourself kits. The hardware design specifications are openly available, allowing the Arduino boards to be produced by anyone. Adafruit Industries estimated in mid 2011 that over 300,000 official Arduinos had been commercially produced, and in 2013 that 700,000 official boards were in users hands. Hardware: An Arduino board consists of an Atmel 8 , 16 or 32 bit AVR microcontroller (although since 2015 other makers microcontrollers have been used) with complementary components that facilitate programming and incorporation into other circuits. An important aspect of the Arduino is its standard connectors, which let users connect the CPU board to a variety of interchangeable add on modules termed shields. Some shields communicate with the Arduino board directly over various pins, but many shields are individually addressable via an IВІC serial bus so many shields can be stacked and used in parallel. Before 2015, Official Arduinos had used the Atmel mega AVR series of chips, specifically the ATmega8, ATmega168, ATmega328, ATmega1280, and ATmega2560. In 2015, units by other producers were ... It includes full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats, fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning meals. Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period . The cooking techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient forms of pickling, frying, and oven baking were added. Early cooks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Donovan he is introducing us to the idea that missionaries now have a poor reputation due to their history. He says History has offered the opportunity to deflect and distort the meaning of missionary work in every age . For a long time a missionary was a person spreading the word of God and after years of doing so we have diminished many different beliefs, practices, cultures and history. At the time it was thought to be the right thing, to spread out and share the gospel to help people find meaning and acceptance. In today s age a missionary is a lot of different things, in many cases it is more focused on the health and physical wellbeing of the people. Many people still share the gospel through missionary work, but in other cases it is more of a material aid. Donovan introduces the book as a voyage of discovery he wants us to put our normal beliefs aside to see his perspective of living a missionaries life and struggling with the fact of if you are helping or hurting. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Hubble Space Telescope is a telescope that was launched into space in 1990, April 24th. Its primary function was to take pictures of stars, planets, moons, galaxies, etc. This type of telescope is different from a telescope such as the Hooker Telescope as it is in space, rather than on Earth, and was used for different things. Over the many years that this extraordinary telescope has orbited in space, it has helped scientists with many new discoveries and refined previous theories or beliefs. One of the biggest discoveries this telescope has made is the discovery of galaxies that we did not know of previously because they were so far away. This discovery was very important as it has lead scientists to calculating a more accurate age of the universe. The Hubble Space Telescope made this discovery by observing Cepheid variables, which are stars with the same average brightness. Although, their brightness is essentially the same, the stars would seem either brighter or dimmer depending on its position in relation to Earth. For example, if one Cepheid variable was 100,000 light years away and another Cepheid variable was 200,000 light years away, the second star would seem dimmer as it is further away from the Earth and our perspective makes it look like it is not as bright. Scientists can use this observation to work out around how far away a Cepheid variable, and ultimately a galaxy, is from the Earth. Using this information and the pictures taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, scientists were able to work out a more accurate age of the universe which was around 13.75 billion years old. Without this sort of technology, we wouldn t know as much about the universe as we do now and we may not have been able to refine our knowledge on the age of the universe. The term taxonomy refers to the classification systems that have made the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives so popular in the world of education today. (Seaman, 2011 p. 30) The classification system was intended to measure the degree to which student learned and intend educational behavior. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 12) The committee likened its taxonomy system, to the classification of book in a library. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 9) The OW classifications are; 1) Knowledge 2) Comprehension 3) Application 4) Analysis 5) Synthesis and 6) Evaluation. (Bloom et al., 1956 p. 18) These six classifications comprise a tiered learning system that teachers used to push students through when implementing an instructional model based on the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives in the OW. Each classification level presented a higher amount of rigor, which required students to think more critically. The economic impact of nerve injuries can be large with operative costs, hospital charges, rehabilitation visits, and lost time at work. Only subtle improvements to peripheral nerve repair have been made recently, and our current knowledge of nerve physiology and regeneration vastly exceeds our current repair capabilities. Poor outcomes of peripheral nerve injury are largely due to the slow process of axonal outgrowth. After nerve injury, severed proximal axons with intact cell bodies can grow up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The proposed mechanism is PEG induced lipid bilayer fusion by removing the hydration barrier surrounding the axolemma and reducing the activation energy required for membrane fusion to occur. In an axonal injury without PEG, axonal endings seal after an influx of calcium, preventing axonal fusion (6). Figure 1 demonstrates the bioengineered process of PEG fusion. When severed axonal endings are exposed to calcium free hypotonic saline and an antioxidant (i.e. Methylene Blue or Melatonin), vesicle mediated sealing is decreased, keeping membrane leaflets open. PEG is then applied to artificially induce closely apposed membranes of severed axonal ends to flow into each other and fuse. This produces a partial repair of the plasmalemmal membranes that are then perfused with calcium containing saline, which causes vesicles to accumulate and seal remaining holes at the injury site. This process is known as PEG fusion. The success of our PEG fusion technique is based on multiple factors including PEG, calcium, nerve stump approximation, and an antioxidant Methylene Blue (MB) (Figure 1). • 31. It s Hard Short Story It s hard. This city. I live in a tough city in a tough world, and that makes it hard. Sometimes I love it here. Sometimes New York is life on the brink. It s people struggling to survive, their will alone carrying them through. It s energy and intensity, and everything taken to extremes. Sometimes it s the clichГ© of the dirt and suffering, the grey isolation that inspires and sparks creativiВ¬ty. But there are times when it is none of that. Times when all I see are empty shells running as fast as they can from point A to point B with no time or inclination to pause a moment along the way. • 32. Community For My Old Volunteer Group Community for me, is feeling connected, accepted, and at home. It is where everyone is working together for a mutual cause, and having fun doing it. It is not so much a place to me, as it is a feeling. I can go to any town, city, or community but it does not necessarily take a place in my heart as much as the sense of community I have experienced before. What other place to find community than my old volunteer group, ironically called FOCUS on Community. FOCUS is an organization whose mission is to reach out to the people of our community, like teens and families, to prevent substance abuse, smoking, alcoholism, and even to help families that are already dealing with these issues. My favorite program was the F.A.S.T. program Families And Schools Together because I worked one on one with people and really saw that we were making a difference in these people s lives. At the time I first volunteered for F.A.S.T. I did not realize exactly what I was doing, I merely signed up because I wanted to help out in some way. However, I soon realized that we truly were bringing these families closer. We gave them a safe environment with dinner and activities, and a chance every week to have one on one time with the child of their choice. This helped them solve arguments and build stronger and closer relationships with children who are having a rough time. Another place where I felt an immense sense of community was Italian Fest. I have volunteered at this festival for the past ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Comparing Othello and The Great Gatsby All tragedies eventually end in chaos; however, Othello and The Great Gatsby both begin with innocent characters thinking little about the possibility of disarray. During the climax of both works it becomes evident that the idea of order is doomed, inevitably leading to a bounding spiral of problems. The Great Gatsbyand Othelloboth end in chaos because the protagonists, Othello and Gatsby are outsiders entering an ordered society. The actions of many characters cause confusion in the storyline, and the chaos in both works gradually impact the downfall of every character. Jay Gatsby and Othello are easily manipulated by other characters because they are both outsiders. Being outsiders, both protagonists dramatically stimulate chaos in the plot. Both Shakespeare and Fitzgerald want the reader to understand that sometimes many characters can be to blame for the chaos that occurs. One may think that the downfall of the plots happen solely because of the actions of the protagonists, Gatsby and Othello, when in reality, many other characters are to blame. In Othello, Iago is behind Othello s deception making him believe that his wife, Desdemona is unfaithful. Iago uses the other characters as pawns in his game to achieve his main objective, obtaining the spot as lieutenant. During a party at Cyprus, Roderigo convinces Cassio, upon encouragement by Iago, to drink and have a good time. This ends in a fight between Roderigo and Cassio who then says, reputation, reputation, reputation (Shakespeare 2.3.281). Cassio is expressing his sadness as he is in fear that he has ruined his reputation after Othello dismisses him from his place as lieutenant. • 37. A Experiment On Paramecium Experiment Essay Paramecium Experiment Introduction The purpose of the paramecium experiment was to observe competition or allelopathy between two different species of paramecium in the laboratory. Allelopathy is a way organisms inhibit or affect other organisms when developing in nature. This insures the survival of one organism against another organism. For instance in plants, some can release a chemical that enters the environment and inhibits the growth and development of surrounding plants. Another example in nature is plants developing defenses to prevent herbivores from eating them. This kind of competition happens in nature when the need for resources is limited and survival is necessary. Competition is displayed throughout nature all the time. A man named Georgy Gause previously conducted this experiment between P. aurelia and P. caudatum. He determined that different factors influence how the two species compete and coexist. Ever since then not many scientist have attempted to experiment on paramecium. Only until recently have more experiments been attempted. The issue with the experiment was that it was conducted in 1935 and nowadays there are more advance ways to conduct and interpret the experiment and results. As previously stated, knowledge on this particular subject has been limited. Ever since Gause s experiment, not many other scientists have attempted it until recently. As a class, the experiment was a way to observe competition and better interpret the results gathered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her purpose in this books to show his reason to write these stories. She shows that he wishes to make the dead immortal within the pages of The Things They Carried. Throughout the story, O Brien s belief that storytelling helps heals the wounds caused by the pain and confusion of coping with unexpected death. After Linda dies, O Brien uses his subconscious and imagination to bring her back to life as he doesn t want to forget her. He supports this point when he says And as a writer now, I want to save Linda s life. Not her body her life. (O Brien 236) This again shows how the dead can still be alive through literature. He wants to show how she will continue to live on inside of his writings. His experience with Linda s death also explains how he was able to deal with the constant death in Vietnam. Similar to Linda, O Brien is able to bring Norman Bowker and Kiowa back to the land of the living using the stories. As O Brien says himself We kept the dead alive with stories ( O Brien 239) He is showing that their lives and the way they spend them are much more important than them dying, and he will make sure this stays true by keeping writing about them and making sure no one forgets their story.. Patrons of Pulse nightclub, a gay nightclub in Orlando where massacred by Omar Mateen, Mateen took the lives of forty nine individuals all because of their presence in a gay establishment. This tragic incident wasn t the first attack on the LGBTcommunity, but it s massive fatalities put Congress under even more pressure to reform gun laws, gayrights, and suspected terrorist legislation. As a political Science major, I take a special interest in the reactions among legislators after the Orlando incident and believe there should be more equal protection for gay people under the law. The two articles I will be analyzing, After Orlando, a Political Divide on Gay Rights Still Stands and Gay rights and wrongs: How the Orlando massacre affects the fight for LGBT rights furthers the discourse among the divide in Congress over gay rights. My first article, After Orlando, a Political Divide on Gay Rights still Stands, published in the New York Times focuses on the separate discourse of Democrats and Republicans in Congress. The writers show it s time for the argument to exist using logos stating, Gays have surpassed Jews as the minority group most often targeted in hate crimes, according to the FBI. • 41. Childhood Dreams In As I Grew Older By Langston Hughes Dreams, whether completely bizarre ones that leave you awakened in the early morning hours and utterly confused, or wistful daydreams that drift into your head during a particularly uneventful math class, or simply a scene you envision yourself starring in ten years down the line, are all affected more or less by goals you have for yourself or your path in life. However, humans are seasons, shedding their dreams with the appearance of any wall, just as trees cast off their leaves. As one ages, and obstacles begin to clutter the eagerness and determination of a young mind, one is likely to give up on or alter their aspirations rather than face the walls that close them off from achieving their dreams. Langston Hughes s poem, As I Grew Older, illustrates just that the struggle that the he has had while attempting to achieve his childhood dreams due to obstacles that clutter his path to success. As a child, everything seems possible, and, as one ages, they often look back to that period as a golden age, wistfully recalling the endless capabilities available to them. Hughes is just one of many who look back to their childhood days, reminiscing about the times when their dreams were just another item on their checklist and anything was possible. Langston Hughes illustrates the prospects of his young self s dream as being bright like a sun (Line 5). I was so excited for my basketball tournament that I stood on my bed and began packing quickly. Suddenly i remembered that I left a shirt in the laundry room. I stepped down from my bed and felt something cut through my toe like butter. I looked down and saw a big piece of glass with blood dripping down the side. Immediately I knew what happened. With my quick thinking, I grabbed my cell phone and I hopped into the bathroom. Trying my best not to get blood on the clean carpet. I sat on the edge of the bathtub and turned on the water.
