Jellyfish Jew Jack Prelutsky Analysis
Jack Prelutsky s poem Jellyfish Stew is fresh, silly, and wacky. The combination of satisfying rhymes
and content make it easily approachable for kids. I was inclined to it because of its peculiarity. The
content matter seemed so random and I thought it would be fun to challenge myself by analyzing such
a silly poem and trying to find depth. I also really enjoyed how much its rhymes were consistent in
every line.
Sounds
A most memorable experience in reading a great variety of poems is the sound the poem makes. As
children, we are drawn to repetitive rhymes and melodies more than content itself. It is nice to hear a
familiar pattern as we evolve and expand our reading skills to more complicated poems. A key feature
of sounds is a poem s rhymes. Repetition of similar sounds is often comforting and Prelutsky does it
very well. In the first stanza, every line but two ends with the same sound; this is for variety: Oh, truly
I do / You re creepy to see / Revolting to chew / You slide down inside / With a hullabaloo . The poem
does not features alliterations, repetitions of initial sounds. Prelutsky makes up for this by including
consonance and assonance sounds instead which are repetitions of consonant sounds and vowel
sounds, respectively. The word you is repeated at the beginning of lines, frequently You re soggy, you
re smelly / You taste like shampoo / You bog down my belly . Within those same lines, the repetition
of the s and b sounds are heard as well. A fun example of an assonance is the following line: With
oodles of goo . Both words are humorous and repeat the silly oo sound. A bit more complicated
feature of sound is a poem s rhythm, a pattern created by beats. It is established by analyzing a poem s
meter. In the first line of the poem, is a trochee: Je/lly/fish/stew but the majority of remaining syllables
in the next few lines are unstressed, making it difficult to analyze the meter overall. Pictures Pictures
in poetry are the images writers create which make us use all of our senses. Excellent pictures can
make your mind travel to new destinations simply by reading. Prelutsky uses wonderful imagery
appealing to sight suggesting how disgusting jellyfish stew is: soggy , oodles of

Status Of Women In Victorian Society

Chapter Two
Victorian Women and Society
2.1 Introduction
The second chapter discusses the various pictures that reflect woman in the 19th century which states
the status of women in Victorian society, the ideal lady during the era, female body in religion and
society.
2.2 Women s Status in Victorian Society
Victorian society emerged after the Industrial Revolution in which it was the time of transformation
from rural to urban life. This period was significant on the grounds that England saw many changes in
the economy, society, and politics. Thus, even the image of women has changed during the Victorian
Age. Society before was not as today, women s freedom in the present day such as working ... Show

Almost, Victorian novels were based on women s situation in their writings and they criticised the
society that pushed women to be a fallen. The fiction could not tell us the true reality but at least we
can understand the culture and the situation at that time. There is no choice for women in the early
Victorian era whether to be a domestic angel who follows morals and values or became fallen women
who reject the rules and risk to lose its position within society. This ambiguity gave birth to a new
category of women that helped to change the image of

Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol On Teenagers
One night, you are waiting for your son to arrive home. You are thinking of ways to punish him, when
the doorbell rings. Ding...Dong! You immediately jump out of the couch and start opening your mouth
to yell, but are surprised that instead of seeing your son in front of the door are two cops. You can read
by their expressions that it is not good news. They tell you that your son has died, due to the cause of
driving under the influence of alcohol. The first thing that comes to your mind is, It s not true! . The
cops try to explain clearly what has happened, but your mind is still processing the news. You don t
even notice when the cops leave. Every day, 28 people in the U.S. die in vehicle crashes that involve
an alcohol impaired driver. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just because one of your parents had a beer and drove a couple of hours later does not mean that you
can, too. The effects are a lot stronger for teens than for adults, because the teenagers are still growing
and developing. Like you see, it is not recommended for teenagers to drink and drive. Alcohol
involvement in crashes peak at 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and is higher on weekends (Merrick, 2013). Usually,
the weekend is when teenagers go out to have fun, but why can t they have fun safely? They don t
need to necessarily drink to have fun. Especially, driving under the influence of alcohol. By having
strict rules, it will help teenagers stop the influence of drinking and driving. Parents love their kids,
and they want the best for them. So, try giving them good advice about
the driving process, and how drinking while driving can make them lose their life. Teenagers, your life
is a precious gift. Appreciate it while you can, sometimes life is too short to do what you want. By
drinking and driving, it just can shorten your life. Your family doesn t want that, and it is not good to
make them suffer for sometimes the bad decisions that we teenagers can make. Think twice about
drinking and driving. Is it worth risking your life, by having a small amount of

Clausewitz On Nature And Character Of War
Clausewitz on Nature and Character of War
There are no universal theories to explain the true nature and character of war, and any war theories
are not a fact or absolute truth. All strategic principles are dynamic and contextual, so every age had
its own kind of war, its own limiting conditions, and its own peculiar preconceptions. The battlefield
environment of the 21st century will be the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous, and nature of
war will be completely different because of the Revolution in Military Affairs. Highly advance

A theory is relevant to educate the mind of future commander and guide them to self education.
To developed the war theory, Clausewitz used the Dialectic approach, which is a method of
philosophical argument that involves contradictory process between opposing ideas to establish the
truth, propounded by the German philosopher G W F Hegel. His thesis on war is an absolute war.
According to him total or absolute war carry out with the utmost violence for unlimited aims, and
there is no logic limit to the application of available all power. On total war both warring fraction
could not suspend their military operation and hostilities until one or other side finally defeated, or

between these thesis and antithesis, Clausewitz develops Synthesis (theory of war).

elements of nature of war are; greater political nature , human dimension , uncertainty , and final one

THE IMPLICATIONS OF INTERNET SOCIAL NETWORKS Essay
The conclusion from the research of this paper indicates that social networks sites are here to stay.
Social network sites need to convey a sense of responsibility. Based on the increasing level of social
sites engaging in ecommerce, communication and socialization, the need of privacy protection is
passed on to individuals. What this research paper has demonstrated is that there are implications
users need to be aware of before signing up and placing their profile on these social network sites.
Social Network sites for human communication are rising at a staggering rate, especially since the
Internet is the world s fastest growing communication medium. It can diminish the quality of physical

This research suggests that even the most caution users can become victims of a social network site.
Users need to exercise precautions to guard your personal information such as full name, birth date,
address, email, credit card numbers and other sensitive personal information. Posting too much
information such as inappropriate comments, racy photos and where you are going tonight on these
sites could have a lasting effect. Businesses have jumped on the social network bandwagon as a way
to create leads, gain business and brand their products. Businesses are not realizing that their
employees spend an enormous amount of time on these sites. Therefore, some are creating Intranet
social networking sites within their company. Can social networking be treated as a business tool for
organizations? A company could create a virtual work world. The company could try out ideas in the
virtual worked without a huge investment and suffering the implications of ideas that did not work.
Businesses could use the virtual world as a think tank. Instead of having a meeting all day to discuss a
business strategy, they could load it up on the server and have the workers use the strategy and give
comments and inject their ideas and changes. Customers could get involved to help improve the
business to better serve their needs. Suppliers could inject their ideas to help them. The possibilities
are endless. Social networking could turn into organization networking. A business

1. What do you think is the clinical importance of the FVC and FEV1 values? FVC measures the
amount of gases expelled when a subject takes a deep breath, then exhales maximally. While FEV1
determines the amount of air expelled during the first second. Why do you think the ratio of these two
values is important to the clinician when diagnosing lung disease? Because it is a determining factor
as to whether the patient has healthy lungs, pulmonary disease, or restrictive disease.

The Nature Of Our Behavior
The Nature of our Behavior
The genes that make up the human body determine our behavior, even before we are born. Yet the way
we are raised may also have an impact on the way we behave, but how much does nature or nurture
determine our personality of who we are during the developing as children. Thomas B. Lewis, M.D.
once said While genes are pivotal in establishing some aspects of emotionality, experience plays a
central role in turning genes on and off. DNA is not the heart s destiny; the genetic lottery may
determine the cards in your deck, but experience deals the hand you can play. Scientists have proven,
for example, that good mothering can override a disadvantageous temperament . Since genes make up
the cards we are dealt, we are limited to our genes abilities.
The view that a person s behavior is determined by genetics is called nature, and the view that a
person s behavior is determined by the environment is called nurture. Kendra, Cherry states that the
extreme hereditary position is called nativists (Kendra Cherry). They believe that the basic assumption
is that the characteristics of the human species as a whole are a product of evolution and that
individual differences are due to each person s unique genetic code. Kendra, Cherry says the extreme
view on behaviorism is empiricists. They take the position that all or

Different Types of Attacks
An attack is any malicious or accidental disruption in the confidentially, integrity, or availability of
information and network resources. Attacks can come from many places, electronic, physical, or

(Intranet); physical attacks can come in the form of hardware and equipment sabotage or theft, and
human attacks most often come in the form of social engineering. Some of the attacks identify and

more people are communicating over the internet. Although cryptology is not new, the demand for this
technology has soared as its usefulness for security purposes has become more evident. Cryptology
involves converting original messages into non readable formats and plays an important role in
keeping data safe while it is in transit (Agrawal Mishra, 2012). Two popular forms of cryptology are
symmetric and asymmetric. Symmetric cryptology also known as single key encryption has been in
existence for several decades. It is the most widely used. Symmetric encryptions consist of five
components: plaintext, encryption algorithm, secret key, ciphertext, and decryption algorithm.

The Agile Software Development Process Essay
Motivation Over the last several years, agile software development processes have become
increasingly popular. According to Fowler (2003), the agile software engineering processes attempt to
enable more flexible and adaptive software development than the traditional software engineering
processes offer. Agile practitioners consider documentation as an important aspect for their projects
but there is too little internal documentation available in their projects (Stettina and Heijstek, 2011).
Although the documentation is mentioned, it is not anchored in the original process that relies on
verbal communication (Schwaber and Beedle, 2001). Verbal communication is susceptible to lapses of
memory and after some time it gets progressively harder to recall design rationale. This problem is
compounded by team turnaround (Stettina and Heijstek, 2011). The main objective of documenting a
project is to instruct consumers about the structure of the system, its functionality, operability and the
design structure in case there is need to redesign the system. The primary consumers of the design
documentation are those who maintain or upgrade the system. Other stakeholders, such as users,
testers, and project managers may also need to know about the system (Selic, B., 2009). However,
according to Bran Selic, (2009) software developers do not like to document, as it has no value for
them. Even the agile manifesto, issued by the software industry s avant garde, proclaims Working

2.1 Professor Ian Webster, chair of the Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Foundation, said the
number of young people putting themselves at risk of alcohol related harm was troubling given the
impact of alcohol on brain development.
Separate figures from the Bureau of Statistics reveal consumption of pre mixed alcoholic drinks has
leapt by 15% in the past year. The figures show that 60% of female drinkers aged between 15 and 17
reported drinking a pre mixed drink, compared to 14% in 2000, suggesting the sweet and fizzy mixes
are increasingly introducing young people to alcohol.
The foundation survey also underlines the rise of alcohol related violence, with more than a quarter of
respondents having been verbally abused by someone under the influence of alcohol, and almost one
in 20 having been physically abused by a drunk person.
The survey of 23,000 people found the proportion of the general population drinking alcohol daily fell
slightly and the number of people abstaining from alcohol climbed from 9.3% to 10.1%.
The alcohol industry seized on the survey to suggest that alcohol abuse was not getting worse. Stephen

manufacturers, said the study showed Australians were moderating their alcohol

Dr. Faustus Essay
Pride, Insolence and the Fall of Doctor Faustus
As a highly revered individual a doctor of theology who is also involved in liberal arts, medicine and

the more curious, thirsty and greedy for knowledge they become. Thus, wanting to know more and
therefore, gain supernatural power, Faustus creates his own fall through pride, insolence and child like

According to A Handbook of Critical Approaches of Literature, the id represents the pleasure principle
of human psyche with instinctual gratification, heedless of consequence, as its one and only concern.
Accordingly, the superego and the ego compete with the overpowering id, which results in Faustus
fall. On the other hand, the superego stands for the inhibiting agent or the morality principle and the
representative of all moral restrictions and the advocate of the impulse toward perfection (130).
Therefore, the ego remains the only factor of the psyche to create a healthy social balance of the two
extremes, which definition justifies the descriptions of the reality principle or the mediator . However,
Faustus id does not leave room for any counteraction from the superego, or at least not enough,
allowing his pride and insolence to completely take over his personality.
The chorus informs the reader, and at the same time gives him/her a foresight of Faustus flourishing
appearance on the beginning of the play:
Till swoll n with cunning, of a self conceit,
His waxen wings did mount above his reach
And melting, heavens conspired his overthrow! [I.i; 19 21]
With the same idea the chorus also conveys the tragic and parody like end of Faustus life:
Faustus is gone: regard his hellish fall,
Whose fiendful fortune may exhort the wise
Only to wonder at unlawful things,
Whose deepness

The Importance Of Religion In Literature
Religion guides humans to a higher order of existence through the collective organization of beliefs,
cultural identities, and world views. Religion seeks to define the meaning of life and human existence
through historical narratives, symbols, and faith. Since the birth of religions, these have adopted a
central focus of the way people live, their lifestyle choices, and their boundaries. In doing so, religion
has been used as a preeminent theme in works of literature since the ancient world, as the greater part
of first written texts were religious stories. Throughout centuries however, writers have been adapting
religion in literature in many different ways, such as in: Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler,
Dracula by Bram Stoker, and On the Road by Langston Hughes. Religion in these literary works has
played a life changing role in the lives of its characters. In these texts, some characters accept
established religions while others reject it, instead, focusing their time on creating their own. In
Octavia Butler s Parable of the Sower, the stories heroine, Lauren Olamina, daughter of a Baptist
minister during a degenerative and apocalyptic United States. Inside of the walls of her gated
community, religion is presented as the unifying doctrine keeping everyone together in times of
excruciating chaos. However, Lauren is beginning to mature as a young woman and has begun to
question her Christian faith; and as a result, seeks to create her own religion, Earthseed.

Development Cognitive Neuropsychology A Discipline
Introduction
Cognitive processes are described as the performance of composite cognitive actions. Notably
cognitive processes are operations that influence the content of the brain or the thinking process as
well as the remembering operation (Lamberts Goldstone, 2005). Cognitive processes are crucial
aspects of human behavior and are concerned with how persons utilize their skills. On the other hand,
cognitive neuropsychology is a component of cognitive psychology. Cognitive neuropsychology is
directed into comprehending how brain s function and structure are linked to certain psychological
processes. More significantly, cognitive neuropsychology studies the damaged brain cognitive effects
with the aim of inferring cognitive functioning models. Cognitive neuropsychology is a portion of the
extensive research field known as neuroscience. Neuroscience is multidisciplinary perspective that
combines numerous means of looking at cognition and human brain (Kaye, 2010). It is important to
note that evidence of brain injury, cognitive effects as well as the development of cognitive
neuropsychology is founded on patient case studies.

Summary Of Why Leaves Turn Color In The Fall By Diane...
My response to the story Why Leaves Turn Color in the fall by Diane Ackermans, is that it made me
feel emotional the way the author expressed life in a metaphor. For example, the author uses an
imprint of a leaf in a fossil stone to show evidence of previous life on Earth. The fossil stone addresses
the life cycle. Life persists on although plants, animals, and people perish. A thing that stood out to me
was that the author uses nature s seasons to relate to the life cycle of human beings. I believe the
author s purpose on describing the way that leaves change colors and fall off trees in autumn is to
compare to how the body changes in order to reach death; one day the leaves are colorful and vibrant,
and the next day they wither and die.

1. What is Heritage Significance?
The concept of heritage significance is based upon an idea that a place or an artefact may be historic,
scientific, aesthetic or social value for the past, present and future generations. The state of New South
Wales has two main types of heritage listings known as conservation areas and heritage items. An item
listed as heritage identifies that a place or object has some heritage significance. There are four main
permitted lists for heritage listings, for places that are local such as a council district, state wide,
Australia wide and internationally. Local items of heritage significance are listed on Local
Environment Plans, at the local council. The State Heritage Register lists our State s most significant
heritage places. The Nationale Heritage List contains details of Australia wide heritage items or

Sin and Symbols in The Scarlett Letter Sin is present in everyone s life and no human can escape its
reach. In The Scarlett letter the main conflict is rooted in one sin between a man and a woman in
colonial Massachusetts. The sin was adultery and there are several vital themes and symbols that stem
from it. Sin controls and characterizes lives in so many ways that people do not realize. This is
highlighted throughout The Scarlett Letter. Sin and revenge are symbolized by Pearl and nature in
many instances throughout several different chapters. Sin is the most prominent and reoccurring
theme in The Scarlett Letter. Opportunities arose due to Hester s husband being away for an extended
period. After Hester committed adultery with Reverend Dimmesdale her life was forever changed and
furthermore characterized by this theme. He could never escape his inner guilt for his sin with Hester
but could not bring himself to publicly repent. Hester continued her series of poor choices by agreeing
to keep the father of her baby a secret, so he would not be publicly punished and shamed. The theme
continues when her husband arrives in town angry that she is pregnant, and she also promises to keep
his identity a secret to the public. Her husband, Roger Chillingworth, is then overcome with anger and
strives for revenge as he is seemingly possessed by evil. Hester aids in this sin by not warning
Reverend Dimmesdale of Chillingworth s identity. Chillingworth quickly befriends the Reverend

Grief. One Small Word, Yet Holds So Many Different Emotions.
Grief. One small word, yet holds so many different emotions. One word, one syllable, yet thousands

or as if by bereavement. This would be the period of time after the loss of a loved one, where an
individual mourns the loss of the another person. Though each individual grieves and mourn the loss

Parable Of The Sower Critical Analysis
In The Parable of the Sower, author Octavia Butler realistically describes the dystopia of the U.S that
is currently ruled by poverty, crime, and chaos. Lauren, the main protagonist, evolves and goes on a
physical and emotional journey to create her own beliefs and prepare for life behind the wall. Lauren
lives in the community of Robledo that is guarded by a wall that is meant to protect them from crime
although it often fails to do so. Being the daughter of a Baptist, Lauren is challenged to conform and
participate in the religious passivity of the community. Not having enough water, food, and safety
prevents and angers Lauren to try to address her problematic reality immediately. Through the eyes
and actions of Lauren it is clear she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we change into the perspective of a conformist, one would cringe at her willingness to put herself in
more danger and one would label her attitude as rebellious and childish. Lauren clearly has different
opinions and beliefs than the rest of the community, a voice she often exercises. Lauren is capable and
smart to help her community; however, it is hard when they always dismiss her. Although the rest of
her community has conformed and resigned to their situations Lauren defies that ideal. Throughout the
entire novel Lauren does not give up or conform to her faith she continues to fight and seek solutions
to her problems regardless of the passivity of the community. Thus, from a conformist point of view
Lauren is dangerous and an arrogant person who might jeopardize the safety of the society because in
those set of lenses she does not accept and appreciate the life she was given. Moving on, in a different
case, from a survivalist point of view, Lauren is an admirable and brave character who recognizes
there is a problem and fearlessly decides to address it. Wishing to help the community Lauren bravely
tries to explain and convince Joanne that they must take action, she says, We can stop denying reality
or hoping it will go away by magic. (Butler pg. 58) She shows her frustration on the dismay of the
community that ignores and denies the problems present. Lauren understands that thief s will continue

The Y2k Catastrophe And Its Effects On Society
The Y2K Catastrophe
In The midst of a rising industrial climate, the 1990s was a time for change and expansion. On
December thirty first, 1999 nearly every developed nation in the world anticipated the oncoming new
millennium. After strike of midnight, January first, 2000 a forecasted event would take place, and
many in the world were anxious to comprehend the supposed inevitable. The occurrence of the Y2K
scare changed the way the world revolves around technology during the time period, which has lasting
residual effects on society.
The fear that drove society and a complete farce was the idea that everything on which the modern
world relied would simply come to a halt at the turn of the century. This contemporary concern of the
time over technology caused an alarming dissonance between people s daily realities and the threat of
an impending apocalyptic future.
At the height of computer development, for convenience purposes, digital programmers used two digit
codes in place of the years. For example, instead of writing 1986, computer engineers simply dated
programs with 86, the 19 was left out purposefully. Engineers compressed data usage to save storage,
which at the time was very costly and took up unnecessary space. Eventually these programmers
realized that once the year 2000 comes around then, the dates would revert to 00 which computers will
assume to be 1900. A simple date change to humans would equal a major blunder to a computer. This
glitch held the

but the boss is the one who will decide, Jerry a scratchy voice answers in return. A large face with a
bulbous nose peers at you. You whimper, trying to signal the pain you are in. The man just laughs, and
says Sorry, you little scamp, if the boss doesn t kill ye, ye going to da pound. A man with a tall frame
enters the room, his voice is like sandpaper on rough stone. Is this the stupid mutt that lost me 1,000
dollars? His voice is surprisingly calm but with a menacing edge. Well, mutt, you look in pain, let me
do something to ease your suffering. Without another word, he lifts a small black object and with a

Dog fighting needs to have a harsher punishment because it allows owners to train their dogs in
horrible circumstances. In one case in England, there are reports of dogs and owners who come to
children s playgrounds to train the dogs to fight. In the article, it said the people make the dogs bite on
to the equipment and hang off it to strengthen their bite before the illegal fight. I find it absolutely
astonishing that anyone is stupid enough to train fighting dogs but to do so in children s playground
shows quite remarkable levels of idiocy and selfishness. There have been to many reports in the media
of young children being seriously injured by dogs so to train a fighting dog in a playground and to
condition it to behave violently around play equipment which is used by toddlers is one of the most
despicable things that I have heard in a long time. said Chris Bond, the council member for the Enfield
council in England. There is also evidence found that dogs are forced to train their jaws by ripping off
bark from trees. This is killing trees as well as hurting their jaws. This is why dog fighting

The Advantages Of Asexual And Sexual Devices
Both asexual and sexual reproduction results in offspring with [think of good topic sentence. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . .]. Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and
sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation.
Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction
occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular
organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are
bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life.
Amoeba is a single celled animal that catches food and moves about by extending fingerlike

One advantage of sexual reproduction is that it creates offspring with a high genetic variability. This
will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For example,
female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically different. This will
increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces offspring that has the same
genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms. Another advantage of sexual
reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding can apply to sexually produced
organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen to mate, which produces more
desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective breeding is corn. Corn used to be
much smaller, and had fewer rows of kernels, however, farmers saved kernels from good plants and
planted them to create more desirable plants like corn, leading better agriculture. Asexual organisms
don t reproduce sexually, so they can t go through selective

Six and Seven in Masque of the Red Death
Edgar Allan Poe was a writer who believed every single word contained meaning and in his own
words expressed this idea in brevity only he is capable, there should be no word written, of which
tendency, direct or indirect, is not to the one pre established design. (Poe 244). To this effect, Poe
drenches his works in symbolism and allegory. Especially in shorter works, Poe assigns meaning to
the smallest object, explicitly deriving exurbanite significance within concise descriptions. The
Masque of the Red Death tells the story of a Prince Prospero who along with his one thousand friends
sought a haven from the plague that was ravishing their country. They lived together in the prince s
luxurious abbey with all the amenities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And the seventh, and most westerly apartment, is black with red accents and represents the end of life,
the setting of the sun, and death. Poe did not intend a specific meaning for the number seven, just for
the reader to be aware of the passing of time and the idea that the prince was trying to recreate a
perfect world complete with all the appliances of pleasure Without was the Red Death. (238). The
Prince s recreation of the world is ironic because it is modeled after the one the Prince and his
followers are trying to escape. The seven perfect rooms foreshadow the evitable downfall of
perfection. The number seven appears six times in the text which may lead to some significance
behind that number as well. Six could represent human morality, the devil, spiritual imperfection. The
masquerade takes place in the sixth month of isolation in the abbey; the sixth apartment is where the
Prince finally confronts Red Death and eventually dies, falling in to the seventh apartment. The sixth
apartment is also colored violet, which has meaning of royalty and power. It may be irony that the
prince succumbs to the Red Death in the violet room and may have more to do with the fact that it is
the sixth room they meet. It is the number six that represents the defiance of god and marks several
anti Christ like figures in

Abstinence Research
During the 20th century, American society faced plights relating to human sexuality like the HIV crisis
(1968) and the enormous teenage pregnancy rate in 1990 s. In this era, technological developments
made in contraception led to colossal advancement in the quest for finding solutions to the previously
mentioned problems. The results of these advancements came in the form of the contraception pill
approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1957 and the development of the latex
condom in 1920.
There has been much debate about the best method to approach complications related to sexual health.

In this study also supports the argument from the other article (Greslé Favier 2013) where the states

liberal states. This comprehensive study (2013) found that in those level three federation the teenage

Social Media Disadvantages
Social media, or social network is defined by Dictionary.com as an online community of people with a
common interest who use a website or other technologies to communicate with each other and share
information, resources, etc. Social media has become one of the most popular used forms of electronic
communication. It allows users ranging from various age groups to connect and interact with each
other from all across the world. Today, the younger generation can utilize social media as a useful tool.
Younger users can access these networks to communicate and create new friends, access up to date
information and events, and use them as a form of entertainment. However, social media has some
disadvantages that can impact younger users. Social media can affect younger users by being
addictive, impacting education, and can pose dangerous threats. First, younger users can become
addicted to social media. In the 21st century, technology has and still is evolving. Unlike some of the
previous generations, it is common today to see a child interacting with a mobile device. This allows
them to have access to social media websites and apps. Critics believe that social media can be
positive, [enabling] more young people to be creative and innovative (Austin). However, becoming
more active with social media activity can lead into an addiction. For instance, on popular websites
and apps such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, users have a popular feature called the like button
allowing them to show their support towards different content. For teens, gaining a high number of
likes can illustrate popularity, increasing self esteem. On the other hand, this could lead into an
addiction among individuals. In a brain scan study by Lauren Sherman, lead author of the brain study
and researcher at UCLA, claimed that one of the reasons that teens are such active users on social
media is that they re really sensitive to these likes (Almendrala). Consequently, a user addiction for
likes on social media can impact an individual s self esteem, and lead into time wasted on social media
by the individual. Furthermore, connecting into effecting education. Second, social media can affect

Classify Types Of Drivers
There are an estimated two hundred and sixty million registered vehicles in the United States of
America. Every one of these drivers has a unique background which shows through their different,
and sometimes unbearable, driving habits. Although it can be hard, it is important to realize that you
will not be the only person going out and driving today. One has to be cautious of others who may be
driving poorly. More importantly, it is necessary for us to avoid those distracted drivers that seem to
be inattentive and in a world of their own while attempting to drive.
Since receiving my driver s license, I have noticed different types of drivers everywhere I go. These
drivers appear everyday, no matter where you drive, and can either make or break your entire day.
While the term driver can be applied to almost anyone operating a motor vehicle, the way a person
drives often changes with age and experience. I am sure the types of drivers you have come across can
be classified in one of these four categories: The neutral driver, the cautious drivers, the reckless

  • 5. Jellyfish Jew Jack Prelutsky Analysis Jack Prelutsky s poem Jellyfish Stew is fresh, silly, and wacky. The combination of satisfying rhymes and content make it easily approachable for kids. I was inclined to it because of its peculiarity. The content matter seemed so random and I thought it would be fun to challenge myself by analyzing such a silly poem and trying to find depth. I also really enjoyed how much its rhymes were consistent in every line. Sounds A most memorable experience in reading a great variety of poems is the sound the poem makes. As children, we are drawn to repetitive rhymes and melodies more than content itself. It is nice to hear a familiar pattern as we evolve and expand our reading skills to more complicated poems. A key feature of sounds is a poem s rhymes. Repetition of similar sounds is often comforting and Prelutsky does it very well. In the first stanza, every line but two ends with the same sound; this is for variety: Oh, truly I do / You re creepy to see / Revolting to chew / You slide down inside / With a hullabaloo . The poem does not features alliterations, repetitions of initial sounds. Prelutsky makes up for this by including consonance and assonance sounds instead which are repetitions of consonant sounds and vowel sounds, respectively. The word you is repeated at the beginning of lines, frequently You re soggy, you re smelly / You taste like shampoo / You bog down my belly . Within those same lines, the repetition of the s and b sounds are heard as well. A fun example of an assonance is the following line: With oodles of goo . Both words are humorous and repeat the silly oo sound. A bit more complicated feature of sound is a poem s rhythm, a pattern created by beats. It is established by analyzing a poem s meter. In the first line of the poem, is a trochee: Je/lly/fish/stew but the majority of remaining syllables in the next few lines are unstressed, making it difficult to analyze the meter overall. Pictures Pictures in poetry are the images writers create which make us use all of our senses. Excellent pictures can make your mind travel to new destinations simply by reading. Prelutsky uses wonderful imagery appealing to sight suggesting how disgusting jellyfish stew is: soggy , oodles of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet the way we are raised may also have an impact on the way we behave, but how much does nature or nurture determine our personality of who we are during the developing as children. Thomas B. Lewis, M.D. once said While genes are pivotal in establishing some aspects of emotionality, experience plays a central role in turning genes on and off. DNA is not the heart s destiny; the genetic lottery may determine the cards in your deck, but experience deals the hand you can play. Scientists have proven, for example, that good mothering can override a disadvantageous temperament . Since genes make up the cards we are dealt, we are limited to our genes abilities. The view that a person s behavior is determined by genetics is called nature, and the view that a person s behavior is determined by the environment is called nurture. • 14. The Agile Software Development Process Essay Motivation Over the last several years, agile software development processes have become increasingly popular. According to Fowler (2003), the agile software engineering processes attempt to enable more flexible and adaptive software development than the traditional software engineering processes offer. Agile practitioners consider documentation as an important aspect for their projects but there is too little internal documentation available in their projects (Stettina and Heijstek, 2011). Although the documentation is mentioned, it is not anchored in the original process that relies on verbal communication (Schwaber and Beedle, 2001). Verbal communication is susceptible to lapses of memory and after some time it gets progressively harder to recall design rationale. This problem is compounded by team turnaround (Stettina and Heijstek, 2011). The main objective of documenting a project is to instruct consumers about the structure of the system, its functionality, operability and the design structure in case there is need to redesign the system. The primary consumers of the design documentation are those who maintain or upgrade the system. Other stakeholders, such as users, testers, and project managers may also need to know about the system (Selic, B., 2009). However, according to Bran Selic, (2009) software developers do not like to document, as it has no value for them. Separate figures from the Bureau of Statistics reveal consumption of pre mixed alcoholic drinks has leapt by 15% in the past year. The figures show that 60% of female drinkers aged between 15 and 17 reported drinking a pre mixed drink, compared to 14% in 2000, suggesting the sweet and fizzy mixes are increasingly introducing young people to alcohol. The foundation survey also underlines the rise of alcohol related violence, with more than a quarter of respondents having been verbally abused by someone under the influence of alcohol, and almost one in 20 having been physically abused by a drunk person. The survey of 23,000 people found the proportion of the general population drinking alcohol daily fell slightly and the number of people abstaining from alcohol climbed from 9.3% to 10.1%. The alcohol industry seized on the survey to suggest that alcohol abuse was not getting worse. According to A Handbook of Critical Approaches of Literature, the id represents the pleasure principle of human psyche with instinctual gratification, heedless of consequence, as its one and only concern. Accordingly, the superego and the ego compete with the overpowering id, which results in Faustus fall. On the other hand, the superego stands for the inhibiting agent or the morality principle and the representative of all moral restrictions and the advocate of the impulse toward perfection (130). Therefore, the ego remains the only factor of the psyche to create a healthy social balance of the two extremes, which definition justifies the descriptions of the reality principle or the mediator . Religion seeks to define the meaning of life and human existence through historical narratives, symbols, and faith. Since the birth of religions, these have adopted a central focus of the way people live, their lifestyle choices, and their boundaries. In doing so, religion has been used as a preeminent theme in works of literature since the ancient world, as the greater part of first written texts were religious stories. Throughout centuries however, writers have been adapting religion in literature in many different ways, such as in: Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler, Dracula by Bram Stoker, and On the Road by Langston Hughes. Religion in these literary works has played a life changing role in the lives of its characters. In these texts, some characters accept established religions while others reject it, instead, focusing their time on creating their own. My response to the story Why Leaves Turn Color in the fall by Diane Ackermans, is that it made me feel emotional the way the author expressed life in a metaphor. For example, the author uses an imprint of a leaf in a fossil stone to show evidence of previous life on Earth. The fossil stone addresses the life cycle. Life persists on although plants, animals, and people perish. A thing that stood out to me was that the author uses nature s seasons to relate to the life cycle of human beings. I believe the author s purpose on describing the way that leaves change colors and fall off trees in autumn is to compare to how the body changes in order to reach death; one day the leaves are colorful and vibrant, and the next day they wither and die. ... In one case in England, there are reports of dogs and owners who come to children s playgrounds to train the dogs to fight. In the article, it said the people make the dogs bite on to the equipment and hang off it to strengthen their bite before the illegal fight. I find it absolutely astonishing that anyone is stupid enough to train fighting dogs but to do so in children s playground shows quite remarkable levels of idiocy and selfishness. There have been to many reports in the media of young children being seriously injured by dogs so to train a fighting dog in a playground and to condition it to behave violently around play equipment which is used by toddlers is one of the most despicable things that I have heard in a long time. said Chris Bond, the council member for the Enfield council in England. There is also evidence found that dogs are forced to train their jaws by ripping off bark from trees. This is killing trees as well as hurting their jaws. This is why dog fighting ... Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation. Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life. Amoeba is a single celled animal that catches food and moves about by extending fingerlike projections of protoplasm. Asexual reproduction requires one parent, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One advantage of sexual reproduction is that it creates offspring with a high genetic variability. This will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For example, female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically different. This will increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces offspring that has the same genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms. Another advantage of sexual reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding can apply to sexually produced organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen to mate, which produces more desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective breeding is corn. Corn used to be much smaller, and had fewer rows of kernels, however, farmers saved kernels from good plants and planted them to create more desirable plants like corn, leading better agriculture. Six and Seven in Masque of the Red Death Edgar Allan Poe was a writer who believed every single word contained meaning and in his own words expressed this idea in brevity only he is capable, there should be no word written, of which tendency, direct or indirect, is not to the one pre established design. (Poe 244). To this effect, Poe drenches his works in symbolism and allegory. Especially in shorter works, Poe assigns meaning to the smallest object, explicitly deriving exurbanite significance within concise descriptions. And the seventh, and most westerly apartment, is black with red accents and represents the end of life, the setting of the sun, and death. Poe did not intend a specific meaning for the number seven, just for the reader to be aware of the passing of time and the idea that the prince was trying to recreate a perfect world complete with all the appliances of pleasure Without was the Red Death. (238). The Prince s recreation of the world is ironic because it is modeled after the one the Prince and his followers are trying to escape. The seven perfect rooms foreshadow the evitable downfall of perfection. The number seven appears six times in the text which may lead to some significance behind that number as well. Six could represent human morality, the devil, spiritual imperfection. The masquerade takes place in the sixth month of isolation in the abbey; the sixth apartment is where the Prince finally confronts Red Death and eventually dies, falling in to the seventh apartment. The sixth apartment is also colored violet, which has meaning of royalty and power. It may be irony that the prince succumbs to the Red Death in the violet room and may have more to do with the fact that it is the sixth room they meet.
