Health History
Introduction Health assessment thus plays an important role to provide information about one s health.
Assessment is the first step in the nursing process and includes collection, verification, organization,
interpretation and documentation of data.(Sue C.DeLaune and Patriciak .Ladner,2011) Almost every
admitted patient the first time required the implementation of the health assessment to determine their

The Birds Essay
The short story quot; The Birds quot; was written by Daphne du Maurrier and was filmed and directed
by Alfred Hitchcock. It has a very interesting and suspenseful plot. The short story was well written
and the film was well played, both are very similar. Although, they have a few differences the film and
short story have the same mood and theme. Would the differences in the film and the short story affect
the suspenseful and frightening plot?Alfred Hitchcock did an outstanding job filming the movie
matching it with the short story. In both the short story and film flocks and flocks of gulls, robins, and
sparrows join each other.
This is a very uncommon, because different species of birds never work mutually. Also, the story and

The short story s setting is just south of London, England, and is set during the period right after
World War II. The film setting is located in Bodega Bay just sixty miles north of San Francisco, and it
is set in the time frame of the 1960s. In the film, a mad woman accused Melanie of bringing quot;evil
quot; and causing the catastrophe of the attacking birds.
In the story the birds attacked when the tide came in and in the film the birds attack in brief intervals,
over and over. The characters are definitely different in the two versions. The short story s main
characters are a family: a husband, wife, and two children. The film s characters are a woman and a
man, and the man s mother and younger sister. Finally, there is no real ending to the short story. The
readers are just left with the family in the house fearing for their lives from the birds coming in and
attacking.
In the film the characters are able to slip out of the house during a quiet interval and drive away. The
short story and the film have the same plots and the same conflict of man vs. man, man vs. nature,
man vs. society, and man vs. the supernatural.
In either version of the story it could not be explained quot;why the birds waited 154 million years to
start attacking humans. quot; Is Melanie or the lovebirds really evil in the film, or in the story is it just
the black winter and tides? My preference version would definitely be the film, because at

Symbolism In My Antonia
My Antonia As time passes by, society changes but the land man lives on never does. In Willa Cather s
My Antonia, Cather describes the Nebraska landscape to convey her attitude toward each character
and to introduce and support the novels overall theme. As the novel progresses, Cather constantly
explains the theme of man s relationship with land and as the overall theme of this novel. Throughout
the course of this story, Cather s language institutes an unthought of deeper meaning to this account
and clearly identifies relationship between man and the land they live on as the main theme. Cather s
constant use of literary devices creates different perspectives to common themes throughout the novel.
Her use of imagery in this is always precise, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Jim departs the region, he is always bonded to it. As I looked about me I felt that the
grass was the country, as the water is the sea. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the colour
of wine stains, or of certain seaweeds when they are first washed up. And there was so much motion in
it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running. (10) Jim was always seen as a humble and
intelligent man, he never really showed any signs of anger or frustration throughout this novel. The
Nebraska landscape could be seen as a metaphor to Jim, as the land is both humble and calm; and so is
Jim. To relate to a specific part of the Nebraska landscape, Jim is seemingly symbolized by the river,
as he never wants to leave the river, but eventually does. For the first time it occurred to me that I
should be homesick for that river after I left it. (113) Cather uses this quote to explain how man must
move on from their past and look to their future, describing Jim as the river, and how the water must
continuously move. Antonia is seen as a cheerful and ecstatic girl who loves to be around people, as
she is also a reason that the landscape relates to the characters in the novel. As Antonia said, the whole
world was changed by the snow. (33) When Jim leaves for New York, Antonia changes and becomes a
different person, reflecting herself as the changes in season and how people

Effects of Overpopulation and Industrialization on the...
Effects of Overpopulation and Industrialization on the Environment
Throughout history, the world s population has expanded in an extremely exponential fashion taking
over three million years to achieve a one billion person benchmark, it then only took 130, 30, 15, 12,
and 11 years to reach subsequent billions, respectively. (Southwick, 159) Such a massive and still
increasing population, combined with the environmentally detrimental repercussions of
industrialization (as a result of the need to sustain such a large population), namely pollution from
fossil fuels, has begun to take a serious toll on our planet s ecosystem. Moreover, some scientists have
calculated that an optimal human population on earth in terms of reasonable ... Show more content on

Regardless of whether or not pollution increases as population increases, (Edwin Dolin strongly
refutes this principle that population increases lead to increases in pollution) the statistics nonetheless
illustrate that increased population, and now what many consider overpopulation, has without a doubt
led to continuingly deteriorating environmental conditions. Especially since the beginning of the
Industrial Revolution, new technologies have enabled cultures and communities, initially in the new
territories traversed by the Europeans, to expand in populace: we are forever realizing that the
Industrial Revolution has changed forever the relationship between humanity and nature. There is a
real concern that by the middle or the end of the 21st century human activities will have changed the
basic conditions that have allowed life to thrive on earth. (Internet 1) These basic conditions include
the earth s natural climate and the depletion and manipulation of its natural resources. Such expansion
(since the Industrial Revolution) and creation of new establishments began, on a small scale, to effect
the environment in many ways. The first element of the environment that was immediately effected
was forests. Massive deforestation occurred, and still does so today, as land was cleared to make way
for new towns. Moreover, many construction projects also used wood from trees, not to mention other
commercial uses, such as paper, and fuel. Deforestation may

The Movement Of Protest Movement Essay
The Movement of Protest
1) It was a decade of extremes, of transformational change and bizarre contrasts: flower children and
assassins, idealism and alienation, rebellion and backlash. For many in the massive post World War II
baby boom generation, it was both the best of times and the worst of times. (K. Walsh)
a. Historians nostalgically described the sixties as a counterculture and revolution in social norms,
such as: art, sexuality, formalities, and philosophy. The decade was also called the Swinging Sixties

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Beggars In Pakistan
Beggars are everywhere in Pakistan. They are found in nearly every village, town and city. The main
hubs of their action are places of worship and bazaars. They can be seen on the sides of the roads in
front of the mosques and other places of hectic activity. They move from street to street, from one area
to another and beg for alms, food and money. They take whatsoever is given to them. Sometime,
individual comes across a deaf or dumb beggar lifting a sightless or lame beggar on his back and
begging for charities.
The number of beggars in Pakistan is growing rapidly. These beggars live on the incomes of others. It
is indeed a curse that even able bodied peoples of Pakistan resort to begging. They indulge in
numerous evils like drinking and gambling. There are diseased. They bring with them infection and
roam from place to place and thus are responsible to an immense amount for spreading epidemics.
Begging must be banned in Pakistan by law. However, deserving should be facilitated and others
should be given productive opportunities. Street begging is certainly a great irritation. ... Show more

a person to stretch out his hand to others and beg. Why would somebody need to begin this day? Is it
an action of desperation, as that person has no other ways of making a living, or is it just a absence of
self morale, Can we apportion the presence of begging on our social attitudes, whereby beggars have
become complacent and rely on hand outs. Does begging exist because people are treating this as a
profession, or does it exist because a particular State government has ignored the poors. (Imran,

Research Paper On Dionyysus
Throughout Greek mythology, there are many great gods, goddesses and heroes. In Greek mythology
gods, goddesses and heroes often have suffered greatly but have achieved great tasks. Out of all the
great gods, goddesses and heroes, Dionysus is the greatest. Not Only did Dionysus save people like
Ariadne from the island of Naxos but he also created wine which is still one of the most popular
drinks today and is still often used to celebrate. Dionysus, or to the Romans, Bacchus, is a great god.
He is the god of wine, cheer, wild behavior, dancing, fertility, resurrection, drama, song, vegetation,
and all around jolly fellow. He was a very popular god because of his jolly disposition and carefree
attitude. His jolly disposition and carefree attitude which is mainly why he is the greatest god because

Symbolism In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
Symbolism is the use of symbols to express or represent ideas or qualities in literature and art. As a
result, many various authors use symbolism as a way to provide texture to their stories by hinting at a
different or even second meaning to the story or piece they have written. Most authors will not
disclose to the readers that they are using symbolism, so the readers have to infer whether or not the
author provides it in the work. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s short allegory Young Goodman Brown,
Hawthorne uses various forms of symbolism to give objects and characters in the story a deeper
meaning. In Young Goodman Brown, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses Goodman Brown s wife Faith as
symbolism to represent the man s faith in the Christian Religion. When ... Show more content on

The story begins with the ribbons being in Faith s hair as the ribbons are introduced as Faith, as the
wife was aptly named, thrust her own pretty head into the street, letting the wind play with the pink
ribbons on her cap while she called to Goodman Brown (Hawthorne 1). The author uses the
symbolism of Goodman Brown s wife alongside the symbolism of the innocence of the pink ribbons
to show Faith as a woman of good and pure intentions. Hawthorne continues to mention the pink
ribbons in the story to allude to the meaning of innocence to the reader at the beginning of the story.
Hawthorne states Faith, with the pink ribbons (Hawthorne 1). The author also states he looked back
and saw the head of Faith still peeping after him with a melancholy air, in spite of her pink ribbons
(Hawthorne 1). Nathaniel Hawthorne implements the use of repetition to guide the reader to grasp the
use of symbolism. Following this further, near the end of the story Hawthorne reestablishes the pink
ribbons just as the nefarious ceremony in the forest is taking place to help elude the reader to interpret
the use of symbolism in the story. Hawthorne describes There was a scream, drowned immediately in
a louder murmur of voices, fading into far off laughter, as the dark cloud swept away, leaving the clear
and silent sky above Goodman Brown. But something fluttered lightly down through the air and
caught on the branch of a tree. The young man seized it, and beheld a pink ribbon (Hawthorne 5).
Goodman Brown believes that Faith is with the heinous people as their ceremony is about to start. As
Goodman Brown introduces himself with the sinister ceremony, his innocence and purity succumbs to
the villainous thoughts and actions of the patrons of the

Through voice VARs? Data VARs? or both? I would recommend the distribution of VoIP products
through both voice and data VARs. Even though voice channel was considerably more consolidated
than the data channel however it is agreed that voice needed to be added to the mix of already existing
data VARs. In the data market, margins for the resellers where in the region 12%to 20% due to the
channel competition. On one hand, it makes sense to stay with existing margin structure because the
new technology delivered huge cost advantage for the end user. But the Voice VARs were entrenched

networking market and opportunity provided Cisco to expand their business and needed to the keep

How To Compare Beowulf To Batman
Beowulf and Batman: A Comparison Essay Beowulf and Batman Begins both follow the Hero Clock
TImeline because they start with Status Quo, follow a departure into the Special World, include Crisis,
a return from the special world, and they both end with a return to the Status Quo. Batman Begins and
Beowulf also share similarities in having a common enemy, an impromptu partnership, and bravery.
However, one difference found in both stories is praise given to each character. A common enemy is
best described as an enemy shared by many in any given situation. Beowulf s common enemy is
Grendel, who is shared between Beowulf and the Danes. Hrothgar, King of the Danes, hires the well

Batman is not afraid to go into situations alone, even when he is clearly outnumbered or he knows the
odds are not in his favor. He uses cunning, strength and planning to gain the advantage in those
situations. In one scene of Batman Begins, Batman says, It s not who I am underneath, but what I do
that defines me (Nolan Batman Begins). Bruce proves that he doesn t do it for his image and
reputation, but for a bigger cause, like justice and saving Gotham. Another scene involves
Commissioner Gordon and Batman. Gordon says, I never said thank you, and Batman responds, And
you ll never have to (Nolan Batman Begins). Again, Bruce Wayne gives evidence toward fighting for
something more, and not personal gain. Beowulf intentionally slept in Heorot, knowing Grendel
would appear and a battle would commence. Beowulf used his knowledge of the events and his
strength and bravery to defeat Grendel. One section of the poem reads, They have seen my strength
for themselves, have watched me rise from the darkness of war, dripping with my enemies blood. I
drove five great giants into chains, chased all of that race from the earth. I swam in the blackness of
night, hunting monsters out of the ocean, and killing them one by one; death was my errand and the
fate they had earned. Now Grendel and I are called together, and I ve come (Raffel, Page 36). The
description of Beowulf in the quote gives him a sense of bravery because

which entity is best suited for a business, there are many things to be considered. Prior to deciding on

The social security taxes, which are currently at a rate of 10.4% and Medicare taxes which is currently
at a rate 2.9%, total 13.9% down 2 percent from the previous year. This decrease in the self
employment tax rate is due to the 2010 tax relief act past by Congress. (Internal Revenue Service,
2011)
A Social Security tax is paid on the first $106,800 of income that is earned but anything thereafter is
not exposed to this tax. Taxes that are paid in for Social Security are most commonly known as going
towards old age benefits that are received when retirement age is met. It also goes towards survivors,
such as the spouse or young children of someone who has passed, and disability insurance. The taxes
paid in for Medicare go towards the medical insurance of those who are over the age of 65 or those
who meet other decisive factor. The Medicare portion of the self employment taxes is not subject to
any restriction on earnings and as a result all earning will be accountable for this tax. (Internal

individual s partnership of said trade or business. This self employment tax is levied on income in

Analysis Of The Poem An Athlete Dying Young
So many young athlete s keep on their mind the fame, fortune, victories, and championships that come

like they are on top of the world. Some people wonder what it would take to get this young athlete off
this feeling and come down to reality. The answer is quite simple and unforgettable. The answer is
death. Death comes to everyone, even if you are a state champion, star track runner, or captain of the

Housman want the readers to see in this stanza the pedestal that society puts achieving athletes on. The
athlete was glorified so much that the townspeople brought him home shoulder high. Housman is
conveying that the glory an athlete receives comes from the society putting an athlete atop other
people, rather than from inside an individual athlete. The transition from the first stanza into the next
was not very well. To day, the road all runners come/Shoulder high we bring you home/And set you at
your threshold down/Townsman of a stiller town (5 8). This stanza has much to say. Housman first
references back to the town putting the athlete on a pedestal. The athlete is being treated like royalty
because the words shoulder high and threshold give evidence that the townsman think highly of the
athlete. There is a foreshadowing of death at the end of the stanza. The reason of the stiller town is the
setting down of the athlete. Here one can see the call and response between these rhyming lines.
Going back to the beginning of the poem, Housman acknowledged the glory that the athlete acquired
by winning the race. In the next stanza, he elucidates that glory withers away. Smart lad, to slip
betimes away/From fields where glory does not stay (9 10). Housman is praising the athlete for
bowing out early. The athlete wouldn t have won every race and eventually disappoint the crowd. The
glory that the athlete has will not stay once death has come to take them

Analysis Of Tick Tock By Brian Eno
Tick Tock is an ambient piece of music that was made as a direct influence of Brian Eno s four part
ambient series of albums. 2/1 in particularly from Music for Airports is a reference for the aesthetics
of the sound design in the song which has a lot of darkened textures and is almost lullaby esque in
nature. A lot of randomness is often found within the ambient genre as a piece is meant to demonstrate
an ever evolving state. This is hard to express in a one minute piece however, so a constant tempo was
decided upon for the piece. To introduce some kind of randomness into it, the vocal part begins
playing on different beats through out the evolution of the music. Minimalist music had a massive
influence of Eno s music and I also wanted to take the aesthetics of that genre and try to apply it into
my music. As a result of this, only using the three selected sounds allowed me to avoid overcrowding
the piece which isn t meant to be imposing in nature i.e. background music.
The sound is derived from a vocal part saying tick tock and heavily laden with a clear long hall reverb
to give a huge depth to the voice. A slight delay on the voice is introduced halfway through the piece
to represent the ever evolving state in ambient music. The piano sound is a grand piano mixed with a
long hall reverb with a soft attack and medium long release to produce a dream like characteristic as
well as provide a deeper spacial texture to the soundscape. The third sound was a string sound that

Parametric Design in Architecture
Introduction:
The development of technology has made people pay more attention to computer skills. In
architecture, the advantages of digital tools have also become increasingly significant since 1940.
Before the parametric design, designers always used traditional software, like AutoCAD, Sketch up,
and Photoshop, to make the architectural expression. However, the parametric system encourages
designers to consider the variety of design, and make the design more editable by changing parameters
and controlled conditions. Therefore, we could say that parametric strategy did modify the process of

Through this rule based design strategy, the form of the building is easy to change by modifying the
constraints of the parameters. The time cost of the model could save because the whole model does
not need to rebuild. By parametric design, we could use the characteristics of Building Information
Modeling (BIM) elements to response the data from the environmental analysis, such as solar
radiation and wind velocity. Considering BIM providing a corporation system for information to share
and use by architects, which not only could build three dimensional models, predict the performance
of the building, but also enable to analyze the environment, BIM already become one of the most
significant computational design tools for contemporary architecture. The author uses sun shades as an
example to show the approach used by designers to complete a façade design step by step and the
relationships between analytic data, BIM and different software, such as Revit, Ecotect, and Excel.
Also, the limitations of parametric design are mention in the

Charles Dickens Biography
He is living proof of childhood corruption and portrays himself as his young, mischievous, and
perplexed characters Oliver Twist and David Copperfield. He proves that he is a product of the
Victorian era as he brings attention to the childhood cruelty, the less fortunate in an English society,
and the unwealthy dysfunctional families of the early Victorian time period. Charles Dickens reflects
these and other issues as he brings to life the realism of writing. While others were writing about the
way things should be, rather than the way things were, Dickens was challenging these ideas, and
argued that paupers and criminals were not evil at birth. This was an act of rebellion, for he in fact was

In the Victorian era, poverty became due to many reasons; a population increase, the search of
employment, and a depressing state of the shortage of housing. All of these points had a direct impact
to why there was the less fortunate in an English society. The nineteenth century saw a huge growth in
the population of Great Britain, and this brought the poverty line lower and lower in cities such as
London. Dickens, being affected by this, had a great impact on helping the less fortunate in the
Victorian time period by bringing to life the realism of the problems that the paupers, criminals, and
just plain poor people had. He did this through showing how the wealthy treated the poor with no
respect and with cruelty through his characters such as Mr. Bumble and Mrs. Sowerberry in Oliver
Twist. Although, Dickens brings attention to how not all upper or middle class people were always
cruel to the poor, through his characters in Oliver Twist such as Mr. Sowerberry, who was quite kind
to Oliver and was uneasy about being cross with him. Along with poverty being such an issue, there
were also the unwealthy dysfunctional families of the Victorian time period.
Charles Dickens grew up in a home where money was never a concern, until his father went bankrupt
and he was abandoned by his family which ultimately led to Dickens being a poor orphaned boy.
Dickens s dysfunctional family must have led to such families as

The Use Of Alternative Energy Sources
Alternative energy sources can be implemented for house and car factories and any other facility you
can imagine. The common known alternative energy sources are Hydroelectric Energy, Solar Energy,
and Wind Energy. The potential energy stored in hydroelectric energy that is driving into a dam of
water to make water turbines and generators. The energy that the earth receives from the sun is solar
energy. Human civilization has started realizing how much harm they have already caused to the
environment. Alternative Energy Sources helped people maintain balance of the nature without
causing harm to conventional energy sources. Solar energy is a renewable form of energy will not
deplete until thousands of years. It s solar power to a generation is very clean. Wind Energy is an
effective alternative sources of energy in places where the velocity of the wind is high but is a very
clean form of energy. But the wind is a renewable source of energy therefore it wouldn t make a big
problem. The new alternative energy source is apart from commonly knowing that there have been
recent advancements discovering to add of to the list of old alternative sources. Challenges by using
the alternative energy sources are promised as the use of alternative sources of energy is under
research to how to tap energy from other resources. Although the small powers of generation systems

How Networks Work And Different Types Of Them
Here I will explain a few keywords that will be frequently used in the PowerPoint Today we will learn
about networks. We will learn about how networks work and about the different types of them. You
will also learn about all of the Physical devices in a network which make it work. The First Type of
network we will talk about it LAN this stands Local Area Network. LAN networks can range in size
from two computers, but the size is limitless from there the only restriction is hardware. One example
of a LAN is your home network you have different device that connect to each other to get a service,
which is the internet. LANs use the IEEE standards to make sure there is inter compatibility between
different hardware from different manufacturers on LANs. LANs also use a range of protocols to help
provide different functions, for example LANs use the TCP/IP protocol suite to communicate with
WANs such as the internet. LANs may also use the token ring protocol to control network access also
they may use Fibre Distributed Data Interface to provide a backbone for LANs spread over large
distances. Normally LANs in a corporate network can be a mixture of wireless and wired connections
they use different technologies to avoid network collisions. The best way to think of network
collisions is like a tunnel with cars going through and if two cars want to go down the same lane at the
same time they will collide this would prevent the car from getting to its destination, this is the same

Herbs And Spices That Can Help Manage Your Diabetes
5 Herbs and Spices That Can Help Manage Your Diabetes
Meal planning is one of the most important (and sometimes frustrating) things for those with diabetes.
It can be challenging to create dishes that provide sound nutrition, limit sugar and carbohydrates, AND
taste good. But, by focusing on whole foods that incorporate a variety of herbs and spices, you ll find
you not only develop tastier dishes, but ones that can bolster your fight against diabetes.
The five herbs and spices on this list have been shown to assist in managing blood glucose levels as
well as reduce inflammation in the body, which can lead to insulin resistance and diabetes (along with
a whole host of other chronic diseases!)
Herbs and Spices Have Historically Been Used as Medicine
Herbs and spices have been used for thousands of years for their health benefits. Papyri from Ancient
Egypt spoke of fennel, juniper, coriander, cumin, garlic and thyme as health promoting spices. [1]
Ancient cuneiform records noted spice and herb use in Mesopotamia, where many aromatic plants
were traditionally used; and Sumerian medical literature dating from the 3rd millennium BC mention
various odoriferous plants, including thyme. [2]
Modern medicine is finally catching up to the ancients in realizing the health promoting benefits of
myriad herbs and spices. For instance, a study by the University of Georgia revealed that many herbs
and spices are a rich source of the antioxidant phenol, which can prevent inflammation and

Daily Water Level Forecasting At A Reservoir Using A...
Daily Water Level forecasting in a Reservoir using A Probabilistic Nonlinear Model
A reservoir is a place, either natural or artificial for storing water and this storage may be drawn from
for use, often to meet the uneven distribution of water in space and time. The natural flow of rivers
and streams differ significantly with the change in weather throughout a year and may lead to
overflows (flood) or low flows (droughts) in various regions (Postel and Richter 2012; Poff et al.
2007). Under such conditions, water reservoirs play an important role to alleviate these natural
disasters by holding water during periods of floods, and allowing steady release of water during
periods of droughts. In addition, these are widely used as the source of water for drinking as well as
irrigation. Therefore, accurate forecasts of reservoir water level is highly essential for optimizing the
various water management issues.
Concurrently, forecast of water level in reservoirs is a very challenging task, since it is impacted by
not only stream flow volume but also on other factors such as flow velocity, stream flow path, rainfall,
temperature, watershed characteristics, tributaries and the like (Bates et al. 2008; Piao et al. 2010;
Chamoglou et al. 2014). Tributaries, that convey suspended sediment, severely shorten the reservoir
life through siltation and rapidly reduce its storage capacity (Panagopoulos et al. 2008). Water losses
through evaporation may also occur in a reservoir (Christensen

important to acknowledge because it has a great impact on Billy his circumstances. It is seen that Billy

has made him do ballroom since he was a little child has forced him to compete in the way that she
wants so that he may achieve goals such as championships such as the Pan Pacific Grand Prix, which
she aspired to once winning which are actually her personal goals which she was not able to achieve
on her own, so she forces Scott to dance the way that she would that she wants him to in the hope that
he would achieve these goals on her behalf as she is living through her child Scott. Jackie Elliot also
pressures his son Billy to do boxing as he gives Billy his fathers boxing gloves expects him to follow
in the same footsteps as his family is known to be good boxers. Jackie himself is a very masculine
male expects his son to be the same, he wants his son to be masculine do wrestling, football, or boxing
but does not want him to do ballet because he is ashamed of it it is definitely not something that he
would ever do.

Body Care Products and their Impacts Essay
Body care products. We use them every day. On our hair, on our body, on our face. And, sometimes
but not often, we think about the environmental, ethical and social impacts it has. Nowadays, it s a
standardised idea that it is extremely important to take in these factors when choosing and purchasing
products; however, is it really as important as it is portrayed to be? To come to a conclusion as to
whether or not it is important to think about the environmental, social and ethical impacts when
buying a product, both sides shall be discussed.
The environment is probably one of the most debatable subjects around right now. And yet another
debatable aspect about the impact on the environment is related to the body products. One must be ...

The chemicals used and the consequences related to them are similar to those stated above. Another
factor where body products endanger the environment is when it comes to packaging. Statistics show
that in fact body products make up a third of all landfill waste. The packaging being non bio
degradable is left lying in landfills, waiting for hundreds of years to break down. With enough threats
to the environment, is there really need to worsen its condition even more? As can be seen above, the
environmental impact of body products is quite profound. Body products that go into the ocean can
also cause dangerous consequences to the eco system, especially to the organism living there. Even
the packaging of body products affects the environment. Therefore, the environmental impacts should
be taken seriously when choosing a body care product.
Yet, some are still doubtful. They think that perhaps they are part of a scheme to scare people with
over exaggerated statistics and dangers. Some believe we are being too paranoid and easily swayed by
what we hear. So are we creating needles worries and stirring a storm out of nothing? Before, we jump
to conclusions too quickly by drawing conclusions from things we hear; we should see the concrete
evidence first. Although there has been lots of research, nothing has been 100% confirmed nor are
they extremely certain the effects are caused by the body care

1. What economic issues gave rise to the Populist Party, and what political and economic changes did

growing economic dependency (Foner 636) in the mid nineteenth century, farmers in the South began
to face inevitable economic uncertainty. Farmers, both white and black alike, were thrown into
poverty due to sharecropping and the fall of the price of cotton, and many faced the fear of losing
everything they had due the inability to pay bank loans. Believing that their situation was caused by
...high freight rates...excessive interest rates for loans...and the fiscal policies of the government
(Foner 636), disgruntled farmers hoped to better their lives and conditions through the founding of the
Farmers Alliance in the 1870s. However, by the 1890s, the Alliance transformed into what became
known as the Populist Party. Keeping their roots in mind, the Populists sought to end what they
considered political corruption and economic inequality that arose during the Reconstruction. In order
to do so, they proposed ...the direct election of U.S. senators, government control of currency, a
graduated income tax, a system of low class public financing...the right of workers to form labor
unions...[and a] public ownership of the railroads (Foner 638). In addition to their propositions, the

Cultural Shock in Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard
Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard projects the cultural conflict of the turn of the twentieth century
of Russia. With a historical allusion, Chekhov exhibited the changing Russia with slice of life in his
play. The Cherry Orchard is not only a depiction of Russian life but also an understatement of
changing traditional value. Cultural conflict itself is an abstraction. To explain it, it is the traditional
culture that is unable to resist the invading one. In the play, each character has his or her own

divided the people of the orchard in different ways so that the orchard and its being sold carry a

The first group is the characters that dominate money and power; Ranevskaya and Lopahin are the

The Scientific Revolution And The Enlightenment
Kuda Masunungure Exam 2: Question 2 The Enlightenment was a period characterized by the idea
that people s use of reason could unlock the mysteries of the world around them. Thinkers of the
Enlightenment saw all aspects of the world religion, wealth, and the earth itself as being
understandable through natural laws. The reliance on and application of reason on the different aspects
of the world used by Enlightenment thinkers was directly informed by the Scientific Revolution. In
essence the presentation of and descriptive power of Enlightenment theories and ideas would not have
been possible without the strengthened exploratory and explanatory rigor established in the Scientific
Revolution. In terms of the PISCET categories discussed through the lectures and the text, the most
prevalent threads between the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment is in their intellectual,
economic, and political connections. During the Scientific Revolution, the established ideas came
from Aristotle. Aristotle s conception of the workings of the universe accepted to be a part of Middle
Ages cosmology by professor Jones set the empirical and rational standard that all scientists set their
sights upon. If one s calculations did not fall inline with the Aristotelian standard, it must not have
been correct (Buckowski lecture notes). The revolutionary element came in the form of Ptolemy s
modifications to Aristotle s standards to better fit the phenomena he was observing. It is here

The Rhodes Must Fall Movement

university s lack of cultural space and representation of blacks, racism in the university and

from an interplay of cognitive, social and environmental factors, whereas density refers to objective
physical characteristics of the situation. Similarly, there is enough literature available that establishes
the fact that crowding is not just dependent on physical density but also on various physical
antecedents, interpersonal factors, individual characteristics and modifiers (Sundstorm, 1978). Culture

fellow passengers (e.g., loud phone conversations, the odor of unclean passengers, noisy school

With regard to the subjective dimension of crowding, two measures are used to capture it in the

density. The former is more sensitive to changes in physical density than the latter (Zheng Li, 2013).

the organization to become a competitor in market.
1. Cost leadership:
It is a business strategy that allows a company to lowest cost production in an industry. There are two
options in businesses to improve profits, increasing or decreasing costs. This strategy focuses on

6. Encourage workers to talk with their leader:
Especially about their problems. Employees feel safe when they speak or ask for a help from their
leader rather than to feel fearful, this will leads to better performance outcomes. Feeling safe in the
workplace supports the spirit of experimentation for new innovations. Kamal (2015) shown that
empowerment, when coupled with good training and teamwork, leads to superior performance
outcomes whereas a range of efficient manufacturing and operations practices do not . (Kamal, 2015)
A positive workplace is the best successful place over the time because its well being and increases
positive emotions. In turn, it amplifies people s ability and creativity and improve their relationship
with other co workers. Also it improving employee s ability to attack challenges and difficulties while
boosting their health. This make the employees more loyal to the organizations and the leader as well
as bringing out their best strengths.

interacting with multimedia data, and video in particular, requires more than connecting with data

Gordon S. Wood s The Radicalism Of The American Revolution

America was traditional in its basic social relationships and in its cultural society. (Wood 11). Wood
even suggests that, in some respects colonial society was more traditional than that of the mother

The Argument For The Existence Of God
My paper scrutinizes numerous logical disputes for and alongside the presence of God. I shall argue
that there s no adequate evidence or inclusive arguments for the existence of God. It is grounded on
the views of certain great philosophers and scientists of all of mankind.
Generally speaking for myself, I would correspond to have faith that there is God . Regrettably, it s
awfully well defined that the being built up on insightful faith is no longer a suitable custom to
shadow. During the course, I expected to learn some type of proof with the intention of upholding a
course of the belief in a God implanted in me by my parents. Sadly, this wasn t the case. It could have
been fine if the ontological, theological, or cosmological argument could have related itself to the
experimental world with a God outside this world, but they are unable too. The ontological argument
failed because it was only a misleading piece of terms that couldn t prolong into actuality. The
teleological argument expressed unsupported inferences from similarities of experiential remark and
materialists supplied other possibilities that are reasonably legal. The cosmological argument failed as
well since it not once understandably argued the making of the universe. There are many amazing
individuals who ve consumed an immense sum of time in studying the Bible. Brilliant philosophers

How Token Economies Increase The Latency Of A Gifted Child...
Token economies have been used successfully to reduce the latency of responding to instructions;
Buisson, Murdock, Reynolds and Cronin (1995) used a token economy to decrease the response
latency for completing headings within a set time limit in hearing impaired children and Fjellstedt and
Sulzer Azároff (1973) used a token system to reduce latency of a student who did not follow directions
in a given time limit. The children received tokens, which were paired to back up reinforcers
contingent upon them being compliant and following directions within the time limit set. In this study
the aim is to use procedures similar to these two studies using a token economy to reduce the response
latency in compliance of a gifted child getting off their computer from the get off time that they have
been given, to when they actually shut down and gets off the computer for the day. The target
behaviour is the child not complying with the family rules that state a set time to get off and stay off
the computer and iPad each day. The operational definition of getting off the computer/iPad in this
case is, the computer and iPad are shutdown completely and the child has removed himself from the
computer desk and reported in person to his parents, and does not go back on his computer or iPad for
the rest of the night.

The Sorrowful Woman Short Story
Everyone experiences sorrow in their lives, it is not an enjoyable feeling, but a person may learn life
lessons from dealing with it. Two women experience the dreadful feeling of sorrow in two different
stories. The first woman s name is Faye, from A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee. The second
woman is from The Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin. In both stories sorrow plays a big role in the
plots, but the two stories are extremely different. The story, written by van der Zee is more enjoyable
than Godwin s because of the way the characters behave, the conflict, and fairy tale qualities. The
characters in both stories must deal with family dilemmas, but the way the characters deal with them
are different. Faye and Kai are in a serious relationship together until Faye feels she must leave him.
She knows she is barren and cannot have the children she desires. Faye feels she is terrible for Kai
because she cannot give him children. She loves her husband so much, she is willing to leave him so
he can have a real family. However, her husband refuses to leave and even demands, You re coming
with me, now. And I m not letting you out of my sight until we re safely married (van der Zee 35). Kai
is extremely demanding, but lets his wife know he will never abandon her because she cannot bear
children. His love for her is admirable and a model for all couples. All Faye desires is a loving family
with her husband Kai. One woman who feels completely different than Faye is the mother

The moment I changed the background color on my Commodore 64 I knew I wanted to do something
with computers when I grew up. Of course, as a young child, I really had no idea what computers
were capable of, but the connection was clear. The next few years were spent learning about
computers and electronics. I was so curious that every single phone, alarm clock, and remote were
disassembled and reassembled multiple times. Most of the time it was put back together and nobody
ever knew, but occasionally that screw I could not find a hole for would betray me. This curiosity
continued with lawnmower engines, trimmers, and anything new that came into the house. My
behavior became more than just a curiosity when I started disassembling the family car. Front Range

In the story the birds attacked when the tide came in and in the film the birds attack in brief intervals, over and over. The characters are definitely different in the two versions. Finally, there is no real ending to the short story. The readers are just left with the family in the house fearing for their lives from the birds coming in and attacking. • 4. Symbolism In My Antonia My Antonia As time passes by, society changes but the land man lives on never does. In Willa Cather s My Antonia, Cather describes the Nebraska landscape to convey her attitude toward each character and to introduce and support the novels overall theme. As the novel progresses, Cather constantly explains the theme of man s relationship with land and as the overall theme of this novel. Throughout the course of this story, Cather s language institutes an unthought of deeper meaning to this account and clearly identifies relationship between man and the land they live on as the main theme. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the colour of wine stains, or of certain seaweeds when they are first washed up. And there was so much motion in it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running. (10) Jim was always seen as a humble and intelligent man, he never really showed any signs of anger or frustration throughout this novel. The Nebraska landscape could be seen as a metaphor to Jim, as the land is both humble and calm; and so is Jim. To relate to a specific part of the Nebraska landscape, Jim is seemingly symbolized by the river, as he never wants to leave the river, but eventually does. For the first time it occurred to me that I should be homesick for that river after I left it. (113) Cather uses this quote to explain how man must move on from their past and look to their future, describing Jim as the river, and how the water must continuously move. Antonia is seen as a cheerful and ecstatic girl who loves to be around people, as she is also a reason that the landscape relates to the characters in the novel. As Antonia said, the whole world was changed by the snow. Effects of Overpopulation and Industrialization on the Environment Throughout history, the world s population has expanded in an extremely exponential fashion taking over three million years to achieve a one billion person benchmark, it then only took 130, 30, 15, 12, and 11 years to reach subsequent billions, respectively. (Southwick, 159) Such a massive and still increasing population, combined with the environmentally detrimental repercussions of industrialization (as a result of the need to sustain such a large population), namely pollution from fossil fuels, has begun to take a serious toll on our planet s ecosystem. Especially since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, new technologies have enabled cultures and communities, initially in the new territories traversed by the Europeans, to expand in populace: we are forever realizing that the Industrial Revolution has changed forever the relationship between humanity and nature. There is a real concern that by the middle or the end of the 21st century human activities will have changed the basic conditions that have allowed life to thrive on earth. (Internet 1) These basic conditions include the earth s natural climate and the depletion and manipulation of its natural resources. Such expansion (since the Industrial Revolution) and creation of new establishments began, on a small scale, to effect the environment in many ways. The first element of the environment that was immediately effected was forests. Massive deforestation occurred, and still does so today, as land was cleared to make way for new towns. As a result, many various authors use symbolism as a way to provide texture to their stories by hinting at a different or even second meaning to the story or piece they have written. Most authors will not disclose to the readers that they are using symbolism, so the readers have to infer whether or not the author provides it in the work. The story begins with the ribbons being in Faith s hair as the ribbons are introduced as Faith, as the wife was aptly named, thrust her own pretty head into the street, letting the wind play with the pink ribbons on her cap while she called to Goodman Brown (Hawthorne 1). The author uses the symbolism of Goodman Brown s wife alongside the symbolism of the innocence of the pink ribbons to show Faith as a woman of good and pure intentions. Hawthorne continues to mention the pink ribbons in the story to allude to the meaning of innocence to the reader at the beginning of the story. Hawthorne states Faith, with the pink ribbons (Hawthorne 1). The author also states he looked back and saw the head of Faith still peeping after him with a melancholy air, in spite of her pink ribbons (Hawthorne 1). Nathaniel Hawthorne implements the use of repetition to guide the reader to grasp the use of symbolism. Following this further, near the end of the story Hawthorne reestablishes the pink ribbons just as the nefarious ceremony in the forest is taking place to help elude the reader to interpret the use of symbolism in the story. Hawthorne describes There was a scream, drowned immediately in a louder murmur of voices, fading into far off laughter, as the dark cloud swept away, leaving the clear and silent sky above Goodman Brown. But something fluttered lightly down through the air and caught on the branch of a tree. The young man seized it, and beheld a pink ribbon (Hawthorne 5). Analysis Of Tick Tock By Brian Eno Tick Tock is an ambient piece of music that was made as a direct influence of Brian Eno s four part ambient series of albums. 2/1 in particularly from Music for Airports is a reference for the aesthetics of the sound design in the song which has a lot of darkened textures and is almost lullaby esque in nature. A lot of randomness is often found within the ambient genre as a piece is meant to demonstrate an ever evolving state. This is hard to express in a one minute piece however, so a constant tempo was decided upon for the piece. To introduce some kind of randomness into it, the vocal part begins playing on different beats through out the evolution of the music. Minimalist music had a massive influence of Eno s music and I also wanted to take the aesthetics of that genre and try to apply it into my music. As a result of this, only using the three selected sounds allowed me to avoid overcrowding the piece which isn t meant to be imposing in nature i.e. background music. The sound is derived from a vocal part saying tick tock and heavily laden with a clear long hall reverb to give a huge depth to the voice. A slight delay on the voice is introduced halfway through the piece to represent the ever evolving state in ambient music. One example of a LAN is your home network you have different device that connect to each other to get a service, which is the internet. LANs use the IEEE standards to make sure there is inter compatibility between different hardware from different manufacturers on LANs. LANs also use a range of protocols to help provide different functions, for example LANs use the TCP/IP protocol suite to communicate with WANs such as the internet. LANs may also use the token ring protocol to control network access also they may use Fibre Distributed Data Interface to provide a backbone for LANs spread over large distances. Normally LANs in a corporate network can be a mixture of wireless and wired connections they use different technologies to avoid network collisions. The best way to think of network collisions is like a tunnel with cars going through and if two cars want to go down the same lane at the same time they will collide this would prevent the car from getting to its destination, this is the same ... Herbs And Spices That Can Help Manage Your Diabetes 5 Herbs and Spices That Can Help Manage Your Diabetes Meal planning is one of the most important (and sometimes frustrating) things for those with diabetes. It can be challenging to create dishes that provide sound nutrition, limit sugar and carbohydrates, AND taste good. But, by focusing on whole foods that incorporate a variety of herbs and spices, you ll find you not only develop tastier dishes, but ones that can bolster your fight against diabetes. The five herbs and spices on this list have been shown to assist in managing blood glucose levels as well as reduce inflammation in the body, which can lead to insulin resistance and diabetes (along with a whole host of other chronic diseases!) Herbs and Spices Have Historically Been Used as Medicine Herbs and spices have been used for thousands of years for their health benefits. Papyri from Ancient Egypt spoke of fennel, juniper, coriander, cumin, garlic and thyme as health promoting spices. [1] Ancient cuneiform records noted spice and herb use in Mesopotamia, where many aromatic plants were traditionally used; and Sumerian medical literature dating from the 3rd millennium BC mention various odoriferous plants, including thyme. [2] Modern medicine is finally catching up to the ancients in realizing the health promoting benefits of myriad herbs and spices. • 27. Daily Water Level Forecasting At A Reservoir Using A... Daily Water Level forecasting in a Reservoir using A Probabilistic Nonlinear Model A reservoir is a place, either natural or artificial for storing water and this storage may be drawn from for use, often to meet the uneven distribution of water in space and time. The natural flow of rivers and streams differ significantly with the change in weather throughout a year and may lead to overflows (flood) or low flows (droughts) in various regions (Postel and Richter 2012; Poff et al. 2007). Under such conditions, water reservoirs play an important role to alleviate these natural disasters by holding water during periods of floods, and allowing steady release of water during periods of droughts. In addition, these are widely used as the source of water for drinking as well as irrigation. Therefore, accurate forecasts of reservoir water level is highly essential for optimizing the various water management issues. Concurrently, forecast of water level in reservoirs is a very challenging task, since it is impacted by not only stream flow volume but also on other factors such as flow velocity, stream flow path, rainfall, temperature, watershed characteristics, tributaries and the like (Bates et al. 2008; Piao et al. 2010; Chamoglou et al. 2014). Tributaries, that convey suspended sediment, severely shorten the reservoir life through siltation and rapidly reduce its storage capacity (Panagopoulos et al. 2008). Water losses through evaporation may also occur in a reservoir (Christensen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To come to a conclusion as to whether or not it is important to think about the environmental, social and ethical impacts when buying a product, both sides shall be discussed. With enough threats to the environment, is there really need to worsen its condition even more? As can be seen above, the environmental impact of body products is quite profound. Body products that go into the ocean can also cause dangerous consequences to the eco system, especially to the organism living there. Even the packaging of body products affects the environment. Therefore, the environmental impacts should be taken seriously when choosing a body care product. Yet, some are still doubtful. Due to ...falling agricultural prices and growing economic dependency (Foner 636) in the mid nineteenth century, farmers in the South began to face inevitable economic uncertainty.
