The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Essay
In Samuel Taylor Coleridge s poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, a wedding guest is
cornered by a sailor with a glittery eye and then proceeds to listen to the Mariner s story. In the
story, the Mariner is on a voyage and he make the rash decision to kill the albatross, which is a
sign of luck. Initially the act seemed to benefit the sailors. However, the weather change and the
ship was sent into unstable waters. During this time the sailors, except the Mariner, resorted to
cannibalism and ended up dying. The survivor encountered the supernatural world and spirit that
helped him escape the jail he was trapped in. When it was thought that death was the Mariner s
only true escape, he happened upon a coast where three men helped him to shore.... Show more

However, the other worldly dream would result in the death of the narrator. In the beginning of the
poem, there is an apparition of a beautiful women who reflects the characteristics and desires of the
speaker. When the two merge together , the women vanished leaving the man with an unforgiving
obsession to be reunited with her. As an example of his obsession, a caring and loving women
tends to the man s every end, but he doesn t acknowledge her presence. Through the rest of the
poem, the reader is pulled through the winding and desperate journey of the Poet. Like the Mariner,
the voyage occur on a boat that would ultimately leave the occupants alone and on the verge of
death. The two are pushed into unforgiving waters, that plunge them closer to the supernatural
world. As the Poet floats on, he comes to the conclusion that death is the only way for him to be
reunited with his love. During his observation of the moon that gleamed through the darkness , he
passively accepts the darkness. But when heaven remained/ utterly black, the murky shades
involved/ an image, silent, cold, and motionless... The outcome of the speaker in Alastor advises
readers not to get caught up in perfection and forget about the necessity of pure human

Trial Lawyer Language
What is language? Over centuries, language and communication have been vital to understanding
past and recent civilizations. Language has formed cultures and steepened traditions within
communities. In the past, researchers have examined the language of drawings used by ancient
civilizations, but in the future, they could be examining one hundred and forty character tweets to
determine what life was like during that time period. With language changing so rapidly, how do
people use it to serve their needs? In the justice system language plays a vital role in how they
achieve their desired results. The use of language is a cardinal and strategic method used heavily
by trial lawyers to obtain and communicate their desired results. Trial... Show more content on

A jury can find your client innocent, or they can find you client guilty which could potentially
cause him or her to lose periods of freedom or money. With so much a stake, a trial lawyer has to
be considerate of how they deliver messages to the jury. In the article The Kettleful of Law In Real
Jury Deliberations: Successes, Failure and Next Steps, researchers Shari Seidman Diamond, Beth
Murphy and Mary R. Rose prove beyond a reasonable doubt that singular importance of
communicating with a jury. After conducting research, the authors found that after a
Close study of fifty deliberations reveals, the failure to actively address the variety of sources
leading to miscomprehension of instructions has consequences: juries may reach decisions that are
inconsistent with the law they are ostensibly being asked to apply. While most verdicts appeared to
be unaffected by problems with the instructions or resistance to a relevant legal principle, the juries
in several instances awarded damages that were to some degree influenced by instruction errors.

Difference Between Cipla And Ranbaxy
A few years prior to 2006, investors were hooked to Ranbaxy Labs development story and the
numerous income triggers that lay ahead. Cipla on the other hand was an organization that got
little consideration, part of the way on the grounds that its strategies appeared to be very dismal
contrasted with Ranbaxy. Ranbaxy s high risk high return model had worked well for them till
2006, while Cipla s lower risk strategy seemed less engaging.
However the trends were changing in 2006, and Cipla s more stable strategies emerged rewarding,
while Ranbaxy went through a rough patch.
Most analysts awarded this change in the drift to Cipla s strategy, which showed to be more
suitable to the market scenario then. In early 2005, competition was increasing and pricing
pressure was unrelenting. Ranbaxy was the most globalized pharma company in India, with a
ground presence in 49 countries, products available in 125 countries, and manufacturing operations
in eight countries. In 05, Ranbaxy s formulation sales in markets outside India were $463m (40%
of overall revenue). On the contrary, Cipla dis not even have its own marketing presence anywhere
outside India. Cipla was also, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of these tie ups were robust. CIPLA had entered into global conglomerates with various
generic players (like Watson, Mylan, Barr and Ivax) for selling its generic products. These
strategic alliances enabled Cipla to leverage market understanding of its local partners and exploit
its own R D, product development, and manufacturing skills. Cipla also offered to distribute anti
aids drugs at one third the price to developing countries like South Africa. This act became quite
controversial and many questions were raised against this strategy the company followed. Most
believed that Cipla did not commit any illegal or unethical act as it was authorized to sell anti aids
drugs in any country that did have the obligatory patent

Figurative Language In A Storm In The Mountains
In the poem A Storm in the Mountains, the title does a great job of summarizing the poem. It
literally means exactly what it says, that there was a storm in the mountains. Figuratively, though, it
could mean different things. When I think of a storm, I think of someone going through problems
and they don t know if they will make it through. There could be big problems and scares, like the
crashing thunder of a thunderstorm. Or their problems could occur and that is the lightning, so the
person is hoping that it won t strike. The title contributes to the poem s meaning by adding the
theme to what the poem is going to be about. This poem uses a lot of figurative language in it. First
off, it has alliteration, like when the author says split

As you already know, the liability of a cumulative trauma claim runs one year before the end date
of a cumulative trauma claim. Here, the liability is from June 1, 2014 through June 1, 2015. Based
on my review of the file, it appears that Star Insurance Company also share the coverage for the
liability period. Based on your claimed status report, it appears that Star Insurance Company has

The Pros And Cons Of Sieges
The use of sieges as a tactic of war is not always condemned. Sieges are tolerated under
international humanitarian law as long as they are in compliance with all applicable regulations
and their purpose is to achieve a military objective, such as the capture of an uninhabited enemy
controlled area. However, a siegeshould not target civilianobjects or cause any damage to the
civilian population. In fact, individuals taking no active part in hostilities should always receive
humane treatment. To that end, there are some IHL rules that need to be respected in siege
warfare in order for it to be permissible. The wounded and the sick must evacuate the area and be
cared for. Diplomats and citizens of neutral States residing in a besieged area... Show more content

In a siege of low or moderate intensity, one can potentially smuggle in limited amounts of
supplies or buy them on the black market for elevated prices. Residents may have access to
alternative food sources such as the local agricultural production. The UN and other
humanitarian organizations may manage to negotiate few, if any, aid deliveries but the
assistance that does pass in is rarely enough for the besieged population. Civilians in these areas
are at some risk of malnourishment or dehydration and denial of medical care. The areas are
sporadically subject to attacks by besieging forces. In a siege of high intensity, very little is able to

Epilogue To Jesus
Good morning brother and sister, I pray all is well with your soul... as we continue on this series
on Get thee Behind Me, Satan ...here in Luke we see a different biblical story of Jesus fasting and
praying for forty days in the wilderness and Satan came to tempted Him...oh brother and sister we
sometimes think that Jesustemptations were not real because they were not exactly like ours.
There was never a sinful pull or a sinful memory inside of Jesus, like in us. But in many ways,
Jesus temptations were more real and more severe. For us, often times the pressure of temptation
only relents when we give in and Jesus never did. He had to withstand a much greater pressure of
temptation than you or I ever will....
Oh all of us walk in the spirit, it s good to walk in it... but as you walk, Satan is throwing
everything at you to try and turn you around... but when I was in the world... everything was
good... when I was doing evil and hateful things... life was good...and if I really think about it... I
did not see many temptation...because to me those temptations was a blessing... founding or seeing
money/things that did not belong to me...was a blessing.... seeing someone needing help was better
for them than me attitude...looking at someone walking, while I drive made me smile... oh brother

me, Jesus used it on the devil... We effectively resist temptation in the same way Jesus did: filled
with the Holy Spirit, we answer Satan seductive lies by shining the light of Gods truth upon them.

The Characters of Antigone and Creon in Antigone by Sophocles
The Characters of Antigone and Creon in Antigone by Sophocles
Antigone is story of divine retribution and human imperfectness. In this tragedy a powerful king,
Creon is brought down by the Gods because of his contempt against their divine laws and true
justice is shown to triumph at the end. Creon makes the mistake of putting his personal views over
and above the divine laws and fails in the eyes of the Gods. He makes the mistake of testing the
Gods power and the remaining story is basically the degeneration of Creon. After the crime of
Antigone, Creon is increasingly shown to be lone warrior in his cause and family and well wishers
start deserting him. As the tragedy progresses Creon becomes ... Show more content on

Both are to some extent right in their thinking but in the end both are shown to be mere humans in
the eyes of God and fail to rise beyond their puny existence.
At the beginning of the play, Thebes has fought back an armed attack and the brothers, Eteocles
and Polynices have died ;Creon crowns himself the king and issues edicts to proclaim Eteocles a
hero to be buried with full military honours and decrees that the body of the traitor, Polynices be
refused burial and left to rot. He issues warns that any person disobeying his edicts will be put to
death. However, his edicts clash with the divine laws which explicitly state that every dead body
deserves a burial, even that of a traitor. Creon thus starts the chain of his own destruction. He
considers himself to be paramount in his ideals and expects everyone to obey his edicts without
question. And for this, he is willing to risk everything he has : his prestige, his son, throne and his
own life at the altar of his pride. And in the end, he loses.
The Gods however give a number of chances to Creon to remedy his folly of judgement but he
misses every one of them. When Creon gets the news of Polynices burial he hastily judges that the
sentry or the sentries have been bribed and is on the verge of having the latter tortured or even
killed. In his illogical state of mind he accuses the Chorus of lunacy and illogical behaviour

The Pursuit Of Happiness In Willa Cather s My Antonia
Happiness is many things to different people. People have referred to the pursuit of happiness
for hundreds of years. In the book, My Antonia by Willa Cather, the main character, Jim Burden,
quotes happiness as ...to be dissolved into something complete and great. When it comes to one,
it comes as naturally as sleep. Antonia Shimerda, the person who impacted Jim s life directly
and indirectly for all of his life would view happiness in a different way. Jim feels the way he
does about happiness because he has led a fairly charmed life. Even though he became an
orphan and had to move to Nebraska to be raised by his grandparents, Jim had many privileges
and support from them growing up and he tended to be able to set his sights on what he wanted
and go after it with success. Antonia, in contrast, even with her wonderful soul, great strength
and ability to keep moving forward with a positive attitude, had to fight hard for every bit of
happiness that came her way. Antonia says to Jim, Things will be easy for you. But they will be
hard for us. She and Jim had drifted apart some after her father committed suicide. She and Jim
were sitting together watching an electrical storm on top of the chicken house and Jim asked her
why she had changed. It was clear that Antonia could see that Jim had a promising future ahead
because he was going to school and she was trapped having to take care of her family and wouldn

Compare And Consequences Of A Hero
A hero is a man who afraid to run away (English Proverb). Heroes are strong determined people
who will not let fears or bad influences stop them from doing what they truly believe in. A hero
is an everyday person who takes risk despite any person ot fears may get in there way. A hero is a
common person who takes riskdespite their fears, and inspires others. For example a herowill not let
their fears stop them from doing what they believe in and then it will inspire others to do the same.
For Instance, In the Sermon White House Funeral for Abraham LincolnDr. Phineas D. Gurley
states He is dead; but the memory of his virtues, of his wise and patriotic counsels and labors, of
his calm and steady faith in God lives is precious and will be a power for good. Citation). Dr.
Phineas describes how Abraham Lincoln left a great mark on this country for generations on
and on. A hero takes risk a hero might be scared to face his fears such as talking to his dad for the
first time who has been locked up in prison. It takes a hero to overcome that and not let the fears
take over his/her life. Lastly a Hero is a leader. In the poem O Captain! My Captain! It states,
From fearful trip the victor shop comes in with object won. (Citation). The poem explains how a
leader took a risk and fought for what he felt is right. In the end a true hero is a brave strong
person who takes risk not just for themselves, but for others. A person who represents a brave risk
taker who influences

Analysis Of The Film Safe Haven
In the romantic and drama/thriller film Safe Haven it has an unexpected twist in the final few
minutes of the movie. One of the main characters reads a letter that s giving advice and is full of
mixed emotions to the audience. However, the letter contains a surprising detail that no one saw
coming, it contained a shocking reveal about another characterin the story. Not only that but we see
flashbacks to support the twist we never saw coming, basically to show the audience of how insane
and surprising the twist was.

The film would ve been a lot more tense if it had shown greater details in that aspect.
The opening scene was powerful and dramatic, and has a beautiful visual, especially with the
sets, and cinematography. The actor Julianne Hough was very engaging in the film and played
her role outstanding. The role Julianne played is very important because it shows what a woman
in an abusive relationship goes through, and a person who watches the film and is in an abusive
relationship can possibly open their eyes and help them realize that they can escape out of that
unhealthy/abusive relationship. Furthermore, the musical and cinematography of the scenes
helped orchestrate each moment of the film in a unique and exceptional way. In the role being
played by David Lyons, his skills of acting seemed very realistic and captures the attention of the
audience, and were a highlight in every scene he was featured in. Another key downfall that the
audience may notice is the age difference between actor Josh Duhamel and actress Julianne
Hough. Besides the age difference between the actors, Josh Duhamel played an excellent role as a
father to his two kids. Compared to most romantic movies, this film seemed to have its own unique
love story and a shocking twist.
Just by looking at the poster of a film you can right away tell when it is based on a novel by
Nicholas Sparks. Sparks is one of the most beloved

Applying Criminological Theory to Solve the Murder of...
Applying criminological theory to a suspect s anecdotal evidence can help to distinguish which
suspect could be the possible offender. In this certain case, poor Tigger has been murdered and
there are 3 possible suspects. Merton s Anomie Theory will be applied to suspect number 1:
Winnie The Pooh. Eysenck s Theory will be applied to suspect number 2: Piglet and Social Bond
Theory will be applied to suspect number 3: Eeyore. Merton s Anomie theory works around the
theory that a society or culture inadvertently bring out offending behavior through pressure between
the social norms and the compulsion to achieve them (Thio, 1975). There are 5 aspects of social
structure that associate with this theory (Merton, 1938). Conformity,... Show more content on

Psychoticism relates to certain personality traits such as being impulsive, hostile and aggressive
(Eysenck, 1992). This theory is relatively consistent with the anecdotal evidence about Piglet,
but has more evidence that suggests that Piglet was not the murderer. The anecdotal evidence
states that Piglet has a Generalized Anxiety disorder which ties in with Neuroticism (Cattell and
Scheier 1961). Eysenck and Gudjonsson (1989) had found offenders tend to score high on both
Psychoticism and Neuroticism, (Lykken, 1990) which Piglet does not. He is often described as
a generous animal, which does not tie in with the aggressive, non empathetic, and anti social
nature of Psychoticism (Woody and Claridge 1977). Hirschi s Social Bond Theory is a theory
that instead of being based on why people in society commit offences, it is based on why people
in society do not commit offences (Hirschi, 2002). Hirschi (2002) identifies 4 main social bonds
that can be used to determine the individual s likelihood to become involved in deviant crimes.
These 4 social bonds are attachment, commitment, involvement and belief (Roland 1971).
Altogether these social bonds are what make up the average mindset and behavior of a non
criminal (Gundy Yoder, 2007). So if a person was not to have a strong presence of these bonds, it
would then indicate deviant or offending behavior, and this is the case of Eeyore. The first of these

The Betrayal Of Aboriginal Peoples
Mathushanna Tharmalingam Teacher Cynthia Martin Canadian Democracy 306 10 May 2016 The
Betrayal of Aboriginal peoples in Canada In Canadian history courses, we studied how the
Europeans established in Canada to start a new life. We also learned that Christopher Columbus
was the first explorer to discover this empty land, but in contrary, the native Canadians were already
living in Canada even before it is discovered. Notwithstanding the European settlers moved in and
took over the place. They brought their own Government, they called themselves as the majority
and they also took the lands of the aboriginal people. Indigenous people are seen differently from

However, these people are getting cheated over and over by the government. They were
manipulated and fooled. Aboriginal people want their way of life to be recognized, their values
and their beliefs, rather than the European s way of life. Each time they sign a treaty they face a
disappointment, in other words, they were betrayed by the state. The government of Canada
downplayed consistently the significance of Indigenous rights claims and failed to think about the
grievances left in the long term. Even to say that the Canadian criminal justice system has
abandoned the aboriginal people on a massive scale. It is not only that the justice system has failed
Aboriginal people, but also the government was opposed to them. The rights of Indigenous people
have been ignored and slowly deprived. This resulted in an injustice towards the Indian bands.
People who once ruled their own business independently ended up in poverty and without power.
The years go on and these people realize the unfairness about how they were treated by the justice
system and the authority. Even if they get their rights back, at the end of the day, whatever rights
they may have has no value compared to the state. The authority suppresses their rights. (Asch, M.,

Essay about A Sand County Almanac
A Sand County Almanac
Would I recommend A Sand County Almanac to someone I know? Depending upon who it was,
I would definitely recommend this book. I think I would suggest this book for someone who
enjoys the outdoors. But someone who does not appreciate the outdoors, in my opinion, would
not get as much out of the book. The reason I would recommend this book is because I thought it
did a splendid job describing the tinniest things and making them interesting. Who would have
known that reading about chickadees feeding or describing a bur oak would be interesting to
read? The first part of the book is broken down into months, while the final part really goes into

What exactly is land ethics? According to Leopold, Land ethics expands the boundaries of ethics
by including soils, waters, plants, and animals, (Leopold, page 239). However, a land ethic cannot
prevent the alteration, management, and the use of the resources stated above. Basically, Leopold
states that land ethics change the role that we humans play from that of a land conqueror to that of
a citizen and member. In class, we learned that land ethics imply respect for the surrounding
community. We as humans are important, and thus, have more responsibility to protect the
environment.
Leopold s land pyramid describes the hierarchical dynamics of the biotic community. Based upon
what we learned in class, a biotic community is the relationship between soil and animals. It is a
sum of all the parts within the community. The pyramid represents layers within the biotic
community. The bottom layer is the soil. A plant layer rests upon the soil layer, an insect layer
lies atop the plants, a bird and rodent layer rests upon the insects. The pyramid works its way up
the various animal groups until it finally comes to the peak layer, which consists of the lager
carnivorous animals. Leopold places humans in the top layer.
There was one idea in particular that really struck me in this book. Though it is merely a story in
part II and not a main

Analysis Of The Story The Night
The story starts with the Narrator, an engineer, who is temporarily staying at the Hale house in
Starkfield, Massachusetts due to a project in a nearby town. Dealing with a delay in his work,
the Narrator decides to observe the citizens of Starkfield. He notices Ethan Frome at the post
office and wonders why a man with immense strength seems so physically and mentally crippled.
He decides to investigate and finds out that Ethan was a victim of a smash up . The Narrator had
been using Denis Eady s horses to get to Corbury Flats so he could get on the train to the
Junction, but when Eady s horses fall ill, he hires Ethan as a driver. On the way back to Starkfield,
the Narrator has no choice but to seek shelter at Ethan s farmhouse due to a terrible snowstorm. In
the night, he finds a clue which helps him piece together the story of Ethan Frome.
The frame changes to a third person omniscient point of view, and Ethan is going to town to
walk Mattie, his wife s cousin, home from a dance at the church. Her parents both died just a
year ago, and she was left with nothing. Due to her father squandering her relatives money,
Mattie had no one to look to for help. Zeena, Ethan Frome s wife, decided to take her in, in

many people have made the mistake of bringing certain items with them onto the boat.
Depending on these items, the fishing charter may not be as fun and exciting as you expected.
Here are five things you shouldn t bring on your fishing charter in Alaska. Liquor: Fishing

A camera and your cell phone are okay to bring aboard, but anything else may not be a good idea.
For example, a tablet or laptop. Not only is there a risk of these items being stolen, there is also
a chance that it could be damaged. To be on the safe side, leave your expensive gadgets behind.
Jewelry: Too often when people go on vacation, they don t return home with some of the items
they took on the trip with them, and jewelry is included on this list. For the same reason you don
t want to bring electronics on your fishing charter, you shouldn t bring jewelry. Some pieces, like
rings, bracelets and earrings, can easily slip off and fall into the water. If this happens, there will
be a very slim chance of recovering these items. Weapons: Fishing charters are supposed to be
safe for all passengers on board, as well as the staff. When someone brings a weapon, it is no longer
safe for anyone. Not only is it not a good idea to bring weapons on the boat, it is just not
inappropriate. This is because it can make people uncomfortable and take away from their
experience, which is unfair because everyone deserves to have a safe, enjoyable

Hosea Essay
Hosea
THEME: There is nothing we can do which will separate us from God s compassion and love
I certify that I am the author of this work and that any assistance I received in its preparation is
fully acknowledged.
PART I
The book Hosea was written between 790 and 710 BC by the prophet Hosea.
The story is about the relationship between Hosea and his wife, Gomer, and how their lives parallel
that of the northern kingdom of Israel. There are several themes in the book of Hosea and I will
discuss what I think to be the main one, there is absolutely nothing we can do which will separate
us from God s love and compassion . While the northern kingdom prospers monetarily its morals

The LORD tells Hosea to love his wife again so he buys her back from a slave market and tells her
she must live with and be faithful to him. The LORD is extremely distressed by Israel s lack of
love and acknowledgment of His existence. He describes how they have reverted to lying,
cheating , stealing, murder, etc. and further fail to follow his word. The priests during this time
are not to be let off lightly. God tells how the priests have not spread His message, but rather they
ve fed off the Israelites sins. God tells how he s going to punish the people of Israel, for their sins,
and the priests, for their lack of concern. He closes by saying he will go to his place and not
recognize the peoples of Israel until they earnestly seek him out.
In chapter 11 God capsulizes Israel s sins and his judgment against the people. He describes how
he chose the Israelites as His people and how he delivered them from slavery in Egypt. During
this dissertation he has a change of heart and decides he will not destroy the nation Israel even if
they turn from Him. He decides he will force Israel to repent by less destructive means.
In chapter 12 Hosea preaches the Lord s message to the Israelites. He starts by describing Israel s
sins against God and how the

New England Patriots Deflated Footballs
I do believe that the New England Patriots deflated footballs in the American Football Conference
championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. The game was held on January 18, 2015, at
Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. The National Football League requires footballs to be inflated
between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch of air (2016 NFL Rulebook). Before halftime the
Colts linebacker, D Qwell Jackson, intercepted a pass from the Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady.
Later, Jackson said the football appeared spongy, which describes the texture of an underinflated
ball (Deflategate Timeline). At halftime all twelve of the Patriots footballs were measured, and all
twelve were below the minimum pressure (Deflategate). After the game when the National Football
Leaguelaunched an investigation, they hired Ted Wells to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Before the report was published, the Patriots argued that the pressure gauges used to measure
the footballs were inaccurate; however, during the testing two different gauges were used, and
both were made by different companies (Deflategate). Also, the gauges were tested after the
game, and both were determined to be accurate (Deflategate). The Patriots also argued that the
pressure temperature law was the cause of the low pressure in the footballs (Deflategate). This
law, also known as Gay Lussac s law, stated that a decrease in temperature would cause a
decrease in pressure and vice versa (ChemTeam: Gas Law Gay Lussac s Law). The Patriots said
that according to this law when the footballs were brought outside in the cold air from the warm
locker room, where the balls were inflated, the decrease in temperature caused a decrease in
pressure (Deflategate). HeadSmart labs, a well trusted scientific consulting group, stated that after
accounting for all environmental factors present during the time of the game the pressure
temperature law could cause at most one and eight tenths pounds per square inch of air to be

Why Do Paper Towel Absorb The Most Water
AIM: To determine which brand of 3 ply paper towel will absorb the most water
HYPOTHESIS: Brands with thicker paper towels will absorb more water as there are more
molecules present that are the key to absorbency in paper towels
INTRODUCTION:
The key to absorbency in paper towels are the fibers called cellulose molecules which are big
molecules that consist of lots of tiny sugar molecules chained together. When a paper towel
becomes wet, the water molecules rush in and cling onto the cellulose fibers which is why it is
able to absorb the water. Therefore most of the time, thicker the paper towels means there will be
more fibers resulting in more water absorbed.

The results in the table show that the paper towels from the brand Kleenex was able to absorb the
most water as it was the thickess, therefere proving my hypothesis, thicker paper towels will
absorb more water, correct. The results also showed that different paper towels absorb different
amounts of water, some more and some less.
The fibers that make up the paper towel are what enables the towel itself to absorb water. The
more fibers, the more water is absorbed which is why Kleenex was the most successful paper
towel brand in this experiment as it was more thick and held more fibers.
There weren t many weaknesses identified in the experiment design but there were a few
disadvantages of doing this experiment, the main one being that whlist the paper towel was
removed from the beaker using our fingers. This may of slightly affected the results as some of
the water may of fell back into the beaker or were stuck to our fingers. To avoid this, tongs should
be used instead.
An unforeseen problem that arouse during the experiment was that we could not measure anything
beneath 100ml with the 500ml beaker so we had to improvise and use a measuring cynliner which
solved the problem but also affected the results as some of the water could ve remained

A Child s Life Under Traditional Circumstances
From birth to age 6/7, studies have shown, the most important adult figure in a child s life under
traditional circumstances is the mother, and it is this period that the child learns what love is.
Relationships between the researched subjects and their mothers were uniformly cool, distant,
unloving, neglectful, with very little touching, emotional warmth the children were deprived of love.
As a small child, the grandfather who served as his father figure was Ted s beloved role model
from whom he was involuntarily separated when his mother moved him to Washington State. Being
torn from this father figure he loved at the young age of four, may have affected Bundy s ability to
socialize properly. This quote suggests that,
From ages of 8 to 12, all the negative tendencies present in their early childhoods were
exacerbated and reinforced. In this period, a male child really needs a father, and it was in just this
time period that the fathers of half the subjects disappeared in one way or another…. Potential
murderers became solidified in their loneliness first during the age period of 8 to 12; such isolation
is considered the single most important aspect of their psychological makeup. (Swiss Criminal
Profiling, Childhoods of Violence?)

extremely violent man who generally terrorised everyone he lived with (libertus.net). But it was not

The Cold War peaked the interest of the entire globe. Each threat, policy and action that took place
had ramifications far more reaching then ever imaginable. The world sat on edge because it feared
its own destruction, after the introduction of nuclear warfare at the close of World War II, another
World War could result in the Earth s demise. This fear ran through the hearts and minds of citizens
of both the United States and the Soviet Union, but it is the citizens elsewhere that had to pay the

up to the scandal. Since the origin of both major powers, Iran had managed to to maintain its
independence as a nation state by playing the two superpowers against one another. And it was

independence and identity in serious jeopardy. [2] The turning point in the relationship between
the Iran and the United States began after [the United States] part in the overthrow of
Muhammad Musadiq in 1953, the United States found itself the object of growing Iranian
criticism. [3] Moderate, nationalistic opposition forces and radical leftist began to refer to the

How Does Sowat Use Personification In Never Cry Wolf
Wolves are a vital part of animal s well being. In the book Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat,

Mowat uses Logos with Personification and Characterization to explain how the wolves are not

Never Cry Wolf when Mowat is alone studying the wolves he begins to give them names and

mouse traps to catch mice to study and dissect, but the wolf he called George walked through

The Color Green In The Great Gatsby Analysis
What does the color green make you think of? Do you think of beautiful forests home to unique
animals and intricate ecosystems? Do you think of fresh ripe kiwi in the summer? Do you think
of broccoli ,which takes the cake as the most hated vegetable by children under 8? A lot of times
people see colors very basically and don t think about the connotation or symbolism behind them
Fitzgerald is the contrary. He uses colors throughout the novel as a way to express his ideas in a
more interpretive way that cause the reader to really analyze the novel, The Great Gatsby.
Fitzgerald converges Gatsby s primary motivations with the use of the color green, a symbol
that represents both wealth, money, the chase of the American dream and ,on the flip side, a
renewal and revival of his and Daisy s relationship. Fitzgerald shows green in its many lights,
from the physical representation of wealthy, to wealths grasp on an individual who idolizes it, to
its freshness in relation to a new frontier to the American dream. We see the color green as a
symbol of dishonesty in multiple lights, in multiple characters, the way that the color green was
intertwined with their lies is a depiction of the way the system of wealth and class affects the
characters. One way we see dishonesty, and the idea of wealth intertwined is after the scene where

Dracul A Fundamental Step Stone For Horror Literature
Written and set in the Victorian era, Bram Stoker s novel Dracula is a fundamental stepping
stone for horror literature. Unlike most novels of its time, Dracula not only showcased the
ideals of its era, but it completely flipped it on its head. Firstly, there are numerous examples of
female sexuality and symbolism throughout the entire novel. In Victorian society, it was
believed that women had no sex drive and only partook in sex when their male partners insisted.
It was unheard of for a female to be sexually assertive in any way, and such an idea would likely
have been a very disturbing and frightening concept to a conservative society. Needless to say,
women often had to suppress their sexual desires during this period in order to keep... Show more

is regarded to as a new woman due to her job as an assistant schoolmistress, seeing as to most
women who worked were in order to make ends meat if their husbands were sick or injured and
typically were jobs requiring manual labor. Stoker basically wrote Mina to represent the ideal
Victorian woman with even Van Helsing praising her saying that she is one of God s women,
fashioned by His own hand to show us men and other women that there is a heaven where we can
enter, and that its light can be here on earth. So true, so sweet, so noble... (Stoker 114), but she is
also simultaneously classified a new woman . She is the only female character who keeps the
Victorian ideals constant throughout the novel, even after being vamped by Dracula and being
confronted later on by his three brides. Now where Mina is the quintessential Victorian woman,
Dracula s three brides are on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, the real new women .
They were completely sexual every time they showed up within the novel. Considering the high
standards of purity Mina was held to due to her common Victorian nature, these three were a

Personal Narrative-Escapism In Poetry

Designing A New Type Of Internal Combustion Engine
Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
The intention of Rudolf Diesel to provide a new type of internal combustion engine operating with
higher efficiency than conventional steam and Otto cycle engines, and that could be operated on
many types of fuels. The engine cycle developed by diesel involves injection of fuel into a volume
of air heated by compression. Over the course of history, the durable and efficient diesel engine has
replaced other less efficient modes of power production, including steam engines in the railroad
industry. A diesel engine or compression ignition (C.I.) engine is an internal combustion enginethat
uses the heat of compression to initiate ignition to burn the fuel, which is injected into the
combustion chamber.

  • 2. The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Essay In Samuel Taylor Coleridge s poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, a wedding guest is cornered by a sailor with a glittery eye and then proceeds to listen to the Mariner s story. In the story, the Mariner is on a voyage and he make the rash decision to kill the albatross, which is a sign of luck. Initially the act seemed to benefit the sailors. However, the weather change and the ship was sent into unstable waters. During this time the sailors, except the Mariner, resorted to cannibalism and ended up dying. The survivor encountered the supernatural world and spirit that helped him escape the jail he was trapped in. However, the other worldly dream would result in the death of the narrator. In the beginning of the poem, there is an apparition of a beautiful women who reflects the characteristics and desires of the speaker. When the two merge together , the women vanished leaving the man with an unforgiving obsession to be reunited with her. As an example of his obsession, a caring and loving women tends to the man s every end, but he doesn t acknowledge her presence. Through the rest of the poem, the reader is pulled through the winding and desperate journey of the Poet. Like the Mariner, the voyage occur on a boat that would ultimately leave the occupants alone and on the verge of death. The two are pushed into unforgiving waters, that plunge them closer to the supernatural world. As the Poet floats on, he comes to the conclusion that death is the only way for him to be reunited with his love. During his observation of the moon that gleamed through the darkness , he passively accepts the darkness. But when heaven remained/ utterly black, the murky shades involved/ an image, silent, cold, and motionless... Language has formed cultures and steepened traditions within communities. In the past, researchers have examined the language of drawings used by ancient civilizations, but in the future, they could be examining one hundred and forty character tweets to determine what life was like during that time period. With language changing so rapidly, how do people use it to serve their needs? In the justice system language plays a vital role in how they achieve their desired results. The use of language is a cardinal and strategic method used heavily by trial lawyers to obtain and communicate their desired results. Trial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A jury can find your client innocent, or they can find you client guilty which could potentially cause him or her to lose periods of freedom or money. With so much a stake, a trial lawyer has to be considerate of how they deliver messages to the jury. In the article The Kettleful of Law In Real Jury Deliberations: Successes, Failure and Next Steps, researchers Shari Seidman Diamond, Beth Murphy and Mary R. Rose prove beyond a reasonable doubt that singular importance of communicating with a jury. After conducting research, the authors found that after a Close study of fifty deliberations reveals, the failure to actively address the variety of sources leading to miscomprehension of instructions has consequences: juries may reach decisions that are inconsistent with the law they are ostensibly being asked to apply. While most verdicts appeared to be unaffected by problems with the instructions or resistance to a relevant legal principle, the juries in several instances awarded damages that were to some degree influenced by instruction errors. ... • 4. Difference Between Cipla And Ranbaxy A few years prior to 2006, investors were hooked to Ranbaxy Labs development story and the numerous income triggers that lay ahead. Cipla on the other hand was an organization that got little consideration, part of the way on the grounds that its strategies appeared to be very dismal contrasted with Ranbaxy. Ranbaxy s high risk high return model had worked well for them till 2006, while Cipla s lower risk strategy seemed less engaging. However the trends were changing in 2006, and Cipla s more stable strategies emerged rewarding, while Ranbaxy went through a rough patch. Most analysts awarded this change in the drift to Cipla s strategy, which showed to be more suitable to the market scenario then. In early 2005, competition was increasing and pricing pressure was unrelenting. Ranbaxy was the most globalized pharma company in India, with a ground presence in 49 countries, products available in 125 countries, and manufacturing operations in eight countries. Cipla also offered to distribute anti aids drugs at one third the price to developing countries like South Africa. • 5. Figurative Language In A Storm In The Mountains In the poem A Storm in the Mountains, the title does a great job of summarizing the poem. It literally means exactly what it says, that there was a storm in the mountains. Figuratively, though, it could mean different things. When I think of a storm, I think of someone going through problems and they don t know if they will make it through. There could be big problems and scares, like the crashing thunder of a thunderstorm. Or their problems could occur and that is the lightning, so the person is hoping that it won t strike. The title contributes to the poem s meaning by adding the theme to what the poem is going to be about. This poem uses a lot of figurative language in it. There was never a sinful pull or a sinful memory inside of Jesus, like in us. But in many ways, Jesus temptations were more real and more severe. For us, often times the pressure of temptation only relents when we give in and Jesus never did. He had to withstand a much greater pressure of temptation than you or I ever will.... Oh all of us walk in the spirit, it s good to walk in it... but as you walk, Satan is throwing everything at you to try and turn you around... but when I was in the world... everything was good... when I was doing evil and hateful things... life was good...and if I really think about it... I did not see many temptation...because to me those temptations was a blessing... founding or seeing money/things that did not belong to me...was a blessing.... seeing someone needing help was better for them than me attitude...looking at someone walking, while I drive made me smile... oh brother and sister as long it wasn t me I did not care about you.... so when you re not ... Even though he became an orphan and had to move to Nebraska to be raised by his grandparents, Jim had many privileges and support from them growing up and he tended to be able to set his sights on what he wanted and go after it with success. Antonia, in contrast, even with her wonderful soul, great strength and ability to keep moving forward with a positive attitude, had to fight hard for every bit of happiness that came her way. The role Julianne played is very important because it shows what a woman in an abusive relationship goes through, and a person who watches the film and is in an abusive relationship can possibly open their eyes and help them realize that they can escape out of that unhealthy/abusive relationship. In this certain case, poor Tigger has been murdered and there are 3 possible suspects. Merton s Anomie Theory will be applied to suspect number 1: Winnie The Pooh. Eysenck s Theory will be applied to suspect number 2: Piglet and Social Bond Theory will be applied to suspect number 3: Eeyore. Merton s Anomie theory works around the theory that a society or culture inadvertently bring out offending behavior through pressure between the social norms and the compulsion to achieve them (Thio, 1975). There are 5 aspects of social structure that associate with this theory (Merton, 1938). Conformity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Psychoticism relates to certain personality traits such as being impulsive, hostile and aggressive (Eysenck, 1992). This theory is relatively consistent with the anecdotal evidence about Piglet, but has more evidence that suggests that Piglet was not the murderer. The anecdotal evidence states that Piglet has a Generalized Anxiety disorder which ties in with Neuroticism (Cattell and Scheier 1961). Eysenck and Gudjonsson (1989) had found offenders tend to score high on both Psychoticism and Neuroticism, (Lykken, 1990) which Piglet does not. He is often described as a generous animal, which does not tie in with the aggressive, non empathetic, and anti social nature of Psychoticism (Woody and Claridge 1977). Hirschi s Social Bond Theory is a theory that instead of being based on why people in society commit offences, it is based on why people in society do not commit offences (Hirschi, 2002). Hirschi (2002) identifies 4 main social bonds that can be used to determine the individual s likelihood to become involved in deviant crimes. These 4 social bonds are attachment, commitment, involvement and belief (Roland 1971). Altogether these social bonds are what make up the average mindset and behavior of a non criminal (Gundy Yoder, 2007). So if a person was not to have a strong presence of these bonds, it would then indicate deviant or offending behavior, and this is the case of Eeyore. The first of these 4 social ... The government of Canada downplayed consistently the significance of Indigenous rights claims and failed to think about the grievances left in the long term. Even to say that the Canadian criminal justice system has abandoned the aboriginal people on a massive scale. However, a land ethic cannot prevent the alteration, management, and the use of the resources stated above. Basically, Leopold states that land ethics change the role that we humans play from that of a land conqueror to that of a citizen and member. In class, we learned that land ethics imply respect for the surrounding community. We as humans are important, and thus, have more responsibility to protect the environment. Leopold s land pyramid describes the hierarchical dynamics of the biotic community. Based upon what we learned in class, a biotic community is the relationship between soil and animals. It is a sum of all the parts within the community. The pyramid represents layers within the biotic community. The bottom layer is the soil. A plant layer rests upon the soil layer, an insect layer lies atop the plants, a bird and rodent layer rests upon the insects. The pyramid works its way up the various animal groups until it finally comes to the peak layer, which consists of the lager carnivorous animals. Leopold places humans in the top layer. Along with many other things Mowat uses Logos with Personification and Characterization to explain how the wolves are not savage killers. I can only attribute to the fact that George s sense of humor, which was well developed, led him to accept the affair as a crude practical joke (110). Mowat had set some mouse traps to catch mice to study and dissect, but the wolf he called George walked through them and ran home. George understood it as a joke. Do you think of fresh ripe kiwi in the summer? Do you think of broccoli ,which takes the cake as the most hated vegetable by children under 8? A lot of times people see colors very basically and don t think about the connotation or symbolism behind them Fitzgerald is the contrary. He uses colors throughout the novel as a way to express his ideas in a more interpretive way that cause the reader to really analyze the novel, The Great Gatsby. Fitzgerald converges Gatsby s primary motivations with the use of the color green, a symbol that represents both wealth, money, the chase of the American dream and ,on the flip side, a renewal and revival of his and Daisy s relationship. Fitzgerald shows green in its many lights, from the physical representation of wealthy, to wealths grasp on an individual who idolizes it, to its freshness in relation to a new frontier to the American dream. We see the color green as a symbol of dishonesty in multiple lights, in multiple characters, the way that the color green was intertwined with their lies is a depiction of the way the system of wealth and class affects the characters. One way we see dishonesty, and the idea of wealth intertwined is after the scene where Myrtle gets hit by the yellow car, the readers and other characters know the car is yellow.
