The Functionalist Perspective On Emotions
According to the functionalist perspective on emotions, emotions are defined as an attempt by the
individual to establish, maintain, change, or terminate the relation between the environment and the
individual (Frijda, 1986). This approach is intrinsically relational and suggests that one cannot
understand emotion without considering the individual within any given context. Thus, emotions are
conceptualized as being flexible, contextually bound, and goal directed, and are critical for guiding
interpersonal relations (Butler, Lee, Gross, 2007; Campos, Mumme, Kermoian, Campos, 1994). In
order to understand how emotions influence interpersonal relations one must consider the role of
cultural context. Culture influences the way in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the goal of this study is to examine cultural differences in peer socialization of emotions within
children s close, same sex friendships. In order to appreciate the role of culture on emotion, one must
first gain an understanding of the importance of emotional development and socialization. Once these
concepts have been explained, past research regarding culture and emotion will be evidenced in
support for the current study proposal.
Emotional Development and Socialization
Emotional development is the emergence of a child s experience, expression, understanding, and
regulation of emotions. This developmental process begins in infancy and continues through late
adolescence, with the most dramatic increase in skills often occurring during the transition from
middle childhood to adolescence (von Salisch, 2001). Emotional development is strongly related with
healthy psychological functioning, as research consistently supports the link between deficits in
emotional competency and a variety of negative social and psychological outcomes such as increases
in internalizing and externalizing symptomology (Garner Hinton, 2010; Perry Parish Zeman, 2011). It
is because of this strong association that researchers have pushed for increased attention to identify
components deemed necessary for adaptive

Military Installation Report
The target will include non combatant military personnel as well as civilians who will be present at
such a ceremony. Bruce Hoffman explains the definition of terrorism as violence against a TARGET
AUDIENCE which includes civilians as well as non combatant government workers and military
personnel who are not on the battle front, (Hoffman, B. Inside Terrorism 2006).
A military installation represents the home of military personnel, it s a place where they are able to
find solace, raise and enjoy their families, a place where they work, train and prepare for war to
defend the country, a national symbol of military strength. It is a location where most of the military s
conventional weapons are kept. An attack on such a place will send the message that the United States
military (USM) will not find peace or solace even in their most sacred and vulnerable place on their
home soil.

today. It stands for ammonium nitrate, fuel oil, ANFO is a simple mixture of the two. Ammonium
nitrate is an oxidizing agent that does more than just supply oxygen to support the combustion of a
fuel, it is an explosive substance by itself. Since it is an oxidizer and a material that explodes, the
combination of two legs of the fire triangle (the third is energy) can prove deadly. Indeed, on occasion,
ammonium nitrate has itself detonated, causing loss of life and considerable property

Bilingual Infants Have A Cognitive Advantage
Abstract
Cognitive development advances gradually during infancy. Bilingual infants have often been treated
as a special population with unique advantages or disadvantages as compared to monolinguals. A
recent collection of studies has demonstrated advantages in infants exposed to two languages,
however the specificity of this advantage remains unclear (Singh et al., 2015; Brito Barr, 2013).
Although, one component such as memory can show a hallmark of an infant s flexibility in
development. Summarized in this paper are two studies in which researchers investigated whether or
not bilingual infants have a cognitive advantage. With comparisons between monolinguals and
bilinguals both studies reveal a bilingual advantage in cognitive control. The studies utilized two
different methods, the visual habituation procedure and the deferred imitation of memory retrieval.
Taken together, the studies evaluated how bilingualism may be correlated to a general enhancement of
the cognitive control system.
The Bilingual Advantage
There has been substantial amount of empirical research done on bilingual infants in which researches
have come up with the term bilingual advantage. Previous studies conducted have shown advantages
associated with exposure within two languages (Singh et al., 2015; Brito Barr, 2013). One study
argues that visual habituation has been shown as the best predictor of later intelligence, and is the
most basic experimental test of information in infancy. During

Example Of Demythologizing Rizal
Demythologizing Rizal Whether you are discussing your neighbor, your foe, a government official or
somebody who lived 200 years prior, sex never neglects to catch individuals attention and
imagination. In spite of a few affirmations about Adolf Hitler s personal life, people still insist about
the gossip that he was an illegitimate son of Klara Polzl and Jose Rizal when Rizal visited Linz in
1887. Individuals attempted to elaborate on the sexual experiences of previous presidents or our
heroes. Many inquired as to whether Andres Bonifacio s dowager, Gregoria de Jesus, was truly raped
by Colonel Agapito Bonzon when they were in imprisonment, or whether without a doubt General
Antonio Luna s better half truly was a presidential progenitor named Isidra Cojuangco. At whatever
point there is negative information around a hero, it is dependably seen as tattles paying little heed to
the documentation. Perhaps this is a method for adapting, on the grounds that our heroes have been

Oaxaca Background
My background began with my birth in Managua, Nicaragua and my father was born in Oaxaca,
Mexico. I remember when I was younger and I thought to my self, Why do I have a beautiful name
with a unappealing last name Pablo ? And Why do boys use the adjective exotic to describe my beauty
? These questions boggled me until my late teens since my mother was unable to clarify to me my
father s background. They divorced when I was 5 years old and the only origin fact she had about my
father was that he and his family were Oaxacan Indians. On account of the lack of relationship my

Angelas Ashes Essay
Although life presents you with many obstacles, if you continue to persevere, eventually you will
achieve success. Angela s Ashes, by Frank McCourt, is a good example of this. Frank is constantly
limited by his poverty. We watch him stick with his goals and eventually accomplish them in the end.
He also watches his mother continually try to stretch the family budget in order to get meager amounts
of food. Death is also very prevalent in this book as Frank and his family have to adjust to the death of
loved ones.

Throughout Frank s childhood, there were very few times when feeding the family was not a
challenge. Even when Frank s father was working, he would very often drink his paycheck instead of
bringing it home to his family. Frank remembers a time when his father did bring home his paycheck,
and took notice at how proud his mother was when she was finally able to pay the man for her
groceries. She was able to hold her head up again because there s nothing worse in the world than to
owe and be beholden to anyone (23). This is where Frank learns that the ability to pay brings dignity
and self respect. He draws a connection, that when he has food, his family is prospering. Later on in
life, when Frank begins to earn his own wages, he loves the feeling of independence, and dreams of
providing for a family of his own. He works for Mr. Hannon, delivering coal, and makes many of the
other boys jealous of him. He doesn t mind when the boys harass him though, because he has the job
and Mr. Hannon tells him he s powerful (264). Frank connects having a job with being powerful. This
shows how Frank was able to overcome the struggles of hunger and actually taught him the value of
hard work.
Frank experiences his share of sadness relating to several deaths of

Use Of Diction And Its Effects On Adult Men With Erectile...
Sildenafil, or more commonly known as VIAGRA, is a medication that is geared towards adult men
with erectile dysfunction, abbreviated ED (Medicines EMC). It is stated that about 30 million men in
the United States suffer from ED (Viagra). In Viagra commercials and advertisements, blunt diction is
utilized to highlight the common insecurities of men, which creates this idea that in order to fulfill one
s manliness, then an individual would have to take Viagra. In this particular advertisement, I noticed
key ploys to entice a man suffering from ED to take Viagra as a means by using a bold selection of
diction, a paradise getaway background seen from a cabana, and an inviting, seductive woman.
In the advertisement, the audience may first notice the blue text in the upper left corner that reads,
Gentlemen: VIAGRA helps guys with ED get and keep an erection. The text is light blue, which is the
same color as the pill, to indicate that this product is targeted towards males. The use of diction in this
advertisement is straight forward with strong connotation. It blatantly states what the product does.
This could instill the idea that the product is confident and a guaranteed investment, thus making the
consumer believe that it may help with his sex life. Viagra may also be intentionally bolded as a
connection to what the product is intended to do. The text looks bigger and bolder and the product s
purpose is to make a male suffering from ED to become bigger and bolder. This

How Diversity Has Changed My Life
I always marveled at how Joshua s Yakama managed to stay on. Sweat dripping and curls bouncing
with each exercise, Joshua listened for my instruction. I had to be very articulate and an extremely
good demonstrator when correcting Joshua with his exercises. A practicing Hasidic Jew, Joshua was
not allowed to touch or be touched by a female. Touch for Gary, however, was crucial. Legally blind
from the age of 6, Gary relied on his sense of touch, as well as my physical contact guiding him
through the proper motions of his exercise program. Qing Yuan barely needed any guidance through
her exercise program. Despite the significant language barrier that existed between her and everyone
at the clinic, she had a doting son with her who would translate between Chinese and English.
However, we later found out that her son would intentionally misinterpret certain medical information
to his mother, that was thought in Chinese culture to bring shame to her. ... Show more content on

The Problem Of Drug Use And Trafficking
Lil Draggin
(An essay on the problem of drug use and trafficking and the multiple possibilities of solving this
issue)
It has come to my attention that a certain issue needs to be addressed and if this issue continues to
grow then this town could see some serious changes and people could find themselves in serious
dilemmas. The issue I am addressing is drug use and trafficking that has been known of for many
years. Due to the fact that the least bit of attention has been brought upon drug trafficking it has begun
to grow and create a larger issue than some can even begin to imagine. Illicit drug trade according to
the world UN Drug Report is one of the largest global businesses, at some $322 billion (Shah,2008).
Now in a sense it might be a risky business to get into, but that is fast cash and might I say a good
amount as well. Now this isn t the only issue I will bring up when you notice that the attention is not
given to this issue drugs can be in high demand and because no one has done much to barricade these
drugs it is extremely easy to obtain these drugs. My solution for this problem comes in three s as a
nation we should not make any drug legal, create effective crime policies, and reducing demand. The
first way we will decrease the drug trade is by not making any drug legal to any civilian of this
country. Drug legalization increasingly merits serious consideration as both an analytical model and a
policy option for addressing the drug problem.

Lady Macbeth Monologue
Lady Macbeth first appears in act 1 scene 5. She enters with a soliloquy; reading a letter that she has
received from Macbeth.
With the use of superlatives Macbeth refers to Lady Macbeth at the start of his letter as his dearest
partner of greatness. She reads the letter aloud and is astounded by what it has to say. The first thing
she says after finishing the letter is that Macbeth has already sustained the titles of Thane of Glamis
and Thane of Cawdor and shalt be what thou art promis d. She knows two of the prophesies have
come true and she will make sure that the third one does likewise. This indicates to us that Lady
Macbeth is very sure of herself; she is presented as having manly qualities such as leadership and
determination.

Why Do British Soldiers Wear Uniform
A common myth that I chose was the myth regarding the British Soldiers and their red coats. The
myth was the explanation of why the British soldiers wore red coats. The myth back then and that is
still circulating is that the British soldiers wore red coats so their enemies could not see blood on them
when they were injured. Ultimately, if you didn t have a knowledge of the exact reason, you would
automatically assume it was a war tactic. It would make sense in preventing one soldier or another to
be sought out because of an injury (weakness) making them an easy target. Let s look at the myth of
the British Soldiers, the reason behind their red coats and why this myth still circulates today. First, let
s discuss the myth of the British soldiers. Their uniforms they were red and white. The majority of
their uniform was white. So rationally speaking, it wouldn t make sense. In fact, the uniform would
need to be almost all red to meet this myth. If the uniform was all red would blood still show up on it?

Tax Implication Of Capital Assets Essay
Tax implication of Capital Assets: As mentioned above, when an asset is sold it may be sold in excess
of the owner s basis. When this occurs the taxpayer may be taxed on the gain at the more favorable
capital gains rate (typically around 15%). What was not discussed in prior modules, was the treatment
of capital gains for corporations, treatment of capital losses for both individuals and corporations, and
how the length of ownership impact the classification and tax treatment of assets upon their sale.
The IRS addresses the topic of capital assets in Section 1221 (Legal Information Institute). Within this
section, rather than defining what qualifies as a capital asset, The Code lists items that are not capital
assets. This backwards approach has led to a grey area in regards to what classifies as a capital assets.
As a result, many court cases have been on this topic. Once it is determined whether an asset is capital
in nature , the various tax treatments can be considered. Specifically, capital assets sold at a gain that
are held for less than one year at the time of sale will be classified as a short term gain (Investopedia,
2015). Short term capital gains can be used to offset short term capital losses for both individuals and
corporations, however any excess short term capital gains will be taxed at the taxpayer s regular tax
rate. In addition, long term capital gains experienced by a corporation are not subject to the more
favorable capital gains rate. Also, when

character, has an active imagination that causes her to loose sight of reality like getting lost in

The Importance Of Sharing An Underused Asset
So you ve accepted the fact that your car is dangerously depreciating in value every second it s parked
in the driveway but, you still have questions.
We realised since launching our business early this year that concept of sharing an underused asset is
new to many people!
Sure, sharing goods between family members and close friends has always been common practice.
But how exactly did the idea of sharing and earning some extra cash from an existing asset become so
easily accessible for everyone?
Advancement in technology and the rise of digital technology have led to laborious tasks becoming
automated. For anyone that s experienced the turmoil of unexpected item in bagging area during the
weekly grocery shop, the changes not always a welcome edition to daily life. One positive result is the
increased access to free information, meaning that consumers are much more informed and rely less
on traditional marketplaces and in some cases can choose to deviate from them altogether. The cost to
produce goods has gone down, and with many goods and services almost free this has led to a boost in
efficiency and individuals starting to networking with each other.
While most people aren t against the idea of the earning some extra cash by lending someone
something they already own, they don t want the hassle of taking care of all the little details or damage
to their property and that s where companies like us step in! In our case, our online platform enables

Socrates and the Apology
Some of the best sources of information about Socrates philosophical views are the early dialogues of

will only make more critics and thus the opposite result will be achieved. His final message was to not
stifle criticism and to make themselves as manly as they are. Socrates then comforts those who voted
for aquital by suggesting death a blessing. Socrates then states that death is either an eternal dreamless
sleep or a migration of the soul from this place to another. Socrates of course states that maybe he will
spend his time examining his ideas of his fellow intellectuals. Socrates then claims that nothing can
harm a good man.

br Personally I feel that Socrates defense was excellent. He proves that he is an intelligent man and
that he is capable of thinking and speaking for himself. I feel that he was tried unfairly and that maybe
the only reason why he was even arrested in the first place was because Meletus was angry that
Socrates made him look and feel like a fool. I think that he was arrested because Meletus is a head

Anita Citata Research Paper
Everything about her feels choreographed to perfection. She wears a tight, black leather jumpsuit
while steadying her Honda Grom 250cc motorcycle with poise. As she removes her helmet, dark,
messy curls cascade. Her makeup is bolder than normal, resembling an even fiercer version of
Marianne Faithfull from La Motocyclette. With heels that could kill, she takes on New York City. At 4
11 , she may be the smallest person seen on two wheels. Yet, when she looks into the camera, her
petite, porcelain nature transforms into a smoldering goddess. The metamorphosis is even more
apparent when she sings: lithe vocals expand among deep, sonorous beats. I m Cita Citata, she says.

Between September 6 14, 2016, Kidron brought the young Indonesian artist to the United States for
her first professional recording session, replete with video and photo shoots. Thus, NYCita was born.
Over the period of eight days, Cita eschewed delicate pageant gowns for a tight, belted leather
jumpsuit, setting off her transformation into an international, world class dangdut beat. The style [of
dangdut] shouldn t change, she says of her new creative direction, but it should also adapt to more
tastes as well. That s why Kidron and his team specifically chose two renown music producers, JKEY
(Beyoncé, The London Symphony, and Alicia Keys) and A X (Don Omar s Danza Kuduro, Taboo, and
Dutty Love ), to help achieve this effect. Known for their abilities to turn world musical influences
into delectable beats, JKEY and A X became the dream team on Cita s newest tracks, Rude Boy, a
Latin laced cover of the Rihanna original, and NYCita, a Cita first. The two songs, coupled with JKEY

Brazoria County Environmental Analysis
I grew up in the small town of Sweeny, Texas in Brazoria County. Brazoria County has a population of
over 330,000 people and about 1,600 thousand square miles long. The majority of Brazoria County is
a combination of small towns that gradually get bigger as you get towards the Houston area. About
77.5% of the population is white, 13.5 is African American, 6.8 is Asian and the other 2.2 percent
makes up many different races. The overall health ranking of Brazoria County is 23 out of 234 in 2017
(County Health Ranking). Compared to other counties, Brazoria County overall quality of living is
about average. We do not have any alarming health issues that are through the roof but that does not
mean that we do not have health issues that need to be addressed.
Growing up in the southern part of Brazoria County, I can honestly say that our biggest health issue
would have to be our diets. We enjoy the taste of southern style cooking where I come from and to us
it does not seem too bad until we develop health problems. Surrounding the majority of the small
towns in Brazoria county are rivers, creeks, bayous and a lot of land, for the ... Show more content on

It is common to see teenagers smoking marijuana or drinking in this day and time. Majority of adults
that drink and smoke started when they were in junior high. Growing up in Sweeny, quite a few of my
classmates started drinking, dipping (chewing tobacco), and smoking in the 7th or 8th grade. It only
got worse as they got to high school because it became easier to get ahold of it at parties. These acts
have been encouraged or turned a blind eye to because some parents do not see the harm in it. Out of
the three, underage drinking took a toll on your county the most. Every year there has been two or
three teenagers who have lost their lives due to drinking and driving. Alcohol impaired driving deaths

Vietnamese cultural identity.
Contemporary culture, however, plays a different role. As current contemporary movies, music, visual

cultural identity , which almost always incorporates Chinese elements or Chinese influence in some
ways: in its language, practiced customs, art motifs, etc., as addressed. Vietnam s contemporary
culture, in this condition, has the same low probability of dividing between the Chinese elements and
quintessentially Vietnamese . However, in reality, the concept of Vietnamese contemporary culture
does not only include productions by Vietnamese people. As the Vietnamese community reacts and
corresponds to foreign cultural productions as engagingly as they do with Vietnamese produced goods,
this country s contemporary culture encompasses these alien productions. In this context, culture is
more easily categorizable. Additionally, making the first step in protesting with contemporary culture
is a logical movement. Unlike other goods exchangeable economically, which can be manipulated to
present as if from a different origin, Chinese contemporary cultural productions take significantly
distinct forms. As they are very distinguishable the use of Mandarin s often a giveaway differentiation
of Chinese media and entertainment production becomes the simplest,

two people in the world, and from them comes everyone who has ever lived. Adam and Eve disobey
God by eating fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This act of defiance, called The

deep connection between spirituality and justice. It is very important to maintain and restore harm in

because it involves bringing together the victims, offenders, and others affected by the crime. The use

Amerigo Vespucci Research Paper
It is lawful to call it a new world, because none of these countries were known to our ancestors, and to
all who hear about them they will be entirely new. Amerigo Vespucci was a Florentine navigator and
explorer who played a prominent role in exploring the new world. Navigator and explorer Amerigo
Vespucci came in to this world on March 9, 1451. He was born in to a cultured family as the third son
of Ser Nastagio and Lisabetta Mini. Vespucci s father worked as a notary in Florence, Italy. As a child,
Amerigo was educated by his paternal uncle, a Dominican friar known as Giorgio Antonio Vespucci.

their way through the West Indies and got to the province of Central America within about five weeks.
This would mean that Amerigo came across Venezuela a year before Christopher Columbus did.
Amerigo and his fleets arrived back in Cadiz in October 1498. Then, in May of 1499, Amerigo set off
on his second Voyage. Sailing under the spanish flag, Vespucci worked as a navigator under the
command of Alonzo de Ojeda. They traveled to the coast of what is know known as Guyana, where it

The Death Penalty Of Indonesia
INTRODUCTION
Indonesia is by far the largest Southeast Asian nation, both in population and land area with the
majority of the population, Muslim (OMF International, n.d). Indonesia, also has one of the strictest
laws regarding drug offences and has demonstrated to not be afraid or be persuaded by neighboring
states not to enforce it (Aquino, n.d). Eight out of the eleven countries within Southeast Asia still
retain the death penalty for drug related offences in which Indonesia is the only country within
Southeast Asia that still carries out its executions by firing squad (Death Penalty Information Centre,
2013) (see Table 1). The death penalty was extended to include drug offences and only introduced into
Indonesian law in 1997 (Berman, 2013). However, Indonesia continues to enforce this penalty in the
wake of the 2013 execution of a Malawian national becoming the first execution in some years (see
Table 2) (Delaney, 2013, ¶23).

Why Do We Need Organ Transplants
Organ Transplants A Chance At New Life There are twenty two people that die daily waiting for an
organ transplant (Organ Statistics). This number continues to increase as people do not receive vital
organs that are necessary for them to live. Scientific experimentation is consistently shown by Jekyll,
most notably when he transforms into Hyde. Organ transplants are an example of scientific
experimentation in order to receive a positive outcome; saving lives. Based upon the scientific theories
posed in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, organ transplants should be legal because they
save many lives and provide opportunities that patients may not have had without undergoing a
transplant and are constantly advancing. Although many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, there is a strong importance of scientific experiments and their advancements.
Jekyll learns through his scientific experiments that man is not just one, but two good and evil. As he
researches more into in the discovery, he is at first hesitant to experiment. However, he ultimately
decides that the experiment itself could provide many positives. I hesitated long before I put this
theory to the test of practice, I knew that I risked death. But the temptation of a discovery so singular
and profound at last overcame the suggestion of alarm (Stevenson, 66 67). Jekyll understood the risks,
but knew that it could lead to a better future. Although there is risk in an organ transplant process, as
there is in any surgery, it is ultimately beneficial to the patient and their health. Jekyll had a strong,
propitious feeling when he reached a point of development in his research and experimentation.
Similarly to the organ transplant process, often organ donors are left with a rewarding feeling. The gift
of an organ can save the life of a transplant candidate. The experience of providing this special gift to
a person in need and serve as a positive aspect of the donation. Some donors have reported positive
emotional experiences from their donation (About Organ Donation). All donors will willingly provide
organs to others, often through their death, but sometimes living, numerous people still believe that
transplants should

Jock Sturges Essay
Jock Sturges, born in 1947 in New York, is an American photographer whose works, alongside Sally
Mann or Joseph Szabo, may be one of the most intimate portraits of adolescence and youth. Interested
in the medium since the mid 60s, Sturges educated himself at the Malboro College in Vermont (1974),
where he studied Perceptual Psychology and Photography, later continued at the San Francisco Art
Institute (1985). Even though he started to exhibit in the 70s, helding several displays throughout the
next decade, his serious recognition came in the early 90s. Surrounded by both broad acclaim and
many controversies, Sturges published his first book The Last Day of Summer (1992), followed by
Radiant Identities and Evolution of Grace (both 1994). Some of his most important exhibitions of the

What Is The Theme Of The Movie Girlhood
Girlhood Movie Review Life displays many petrifying inevitable circumstances to things that
humanity must live by. A main significant theme in Girlhood is coming of age, and I believe that
growing up is one of those petrifying inevitable issues that life leaves us to face by ourselves.
Marieme, the protagonist played by Karidja Touré, eventually finds herself going through several
difficulties in a rough environment. Unconfident about her choices in life, Marieme struggles
constantly until she discovers her inner strengths. French screenwriter, and film director, Céline
Sciamma, introduces the coming of age theme by screening different stylistic choices Marieme goes
through, and later on, gradually presenting her developing comprehension skills ... Show more content

Many parts of the film were confusing unless you took the time to pause and think about the concepts
of certain scenes, as many were needed to re watch it to fully understand. The movie being French had
nothing to do with my confusion in fact, I think that the movie being French is what allowed me to
give it a half more than my original rate. Although I found the message of the film to be a bit foggy, I
have to admit that it has a very magnificent message when you follow up with it. Losing yourself is a
very difficult situation to deal with, especially if at the moment you allow your heart to believe that
the people you re standing by now are the people that can satisfy your social happiness. Marieme
learning from her faults is an excellent example of how we should keep our fighting spirits up and
never give up on anything or anyone we love. The harsh truth is; sometimes that person we forget to
cut some slack, and or to love through all their faults is ourselves. Once we learn to overcome that, the
wonders of the world will be inevitable to occur

Essay on What Factors Affect Voter Turnout and Election...
Voter turnout, as well as election results, depend upon and are effected by several different factors.
Everything from family status to beliefs about abortion can determine how a person will vote. In my
presentation, however, I focused on three aspects that effect voter turnout and elections. I found, in my
research, that a voter s age, sex and party identification greatly factor into how a person will cast his or
her vote.
Men and women differ greatly in many aspects of life, and voting is one of them. In the 1992
Presidential elections, women were found by the U.S. Census Current Population Reports to have
voted two percent more than men did. Of the 62% of women who did vote, more were found to have
supported Bill Clinton rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
this low voting rate was attributed to a general lack of feeling of responsibility. As young adults age,
marry, and become parents, their sense of community and responsibility increases, while their apathy
toward voting decreases, (Abramson 116). Another reason for low voter turnout numbers for 18 to 24
year olds is their generally low levels of party loyalties. Not having strong party ties decreases one s
incentive to vote.
Registration and voting organizations such as MTV s Rock the Vote have been accredited with
increasing young Americans voter turnout numbers. Rock the Vote s primary focus, since its founding
in 1990, has been increasing voter registration within the nation s youngest age group. The
organization frequently hosts Get Out the Vote drives on college campuses and on concert tours in
order to reach young people. since its beginning, support for Rock the Vote has been massive, and in
1992 it was recognized for influencing more than one million young voters to participate in electing
their President.
Voter turnout for other age groups also increased in 1992, but those numbers were not considered to
be a significant rise because age groups with citizens over 45 years old already have generally high
turnout. According to the U.S. Census Current Population Reports, the 45 to 64 years old age group
was reported to have 75.3% of registered voters actually voting, while those in the 65 years or older
category

  • 2. The Functionalist Perspective On Emotions According to the functionalist perspective on emotions, emotions are defined as an attempt by the individual to establish, maintain, change, or terminate the relation between the environment and the individual (Frijda, 1986). This approach is intrinsically relational and suggests that one cannot understand emotion without considering the individual within any given context. Thus, emotions are conceptualized as being flexible, contextually bound, and goal directed, and are critical for guiding interpersonal relations (Butler, Lee, Gross, 2007; Campos, Mumme, Kermoian, Campos, 1994). In order to understand how emotions influence interpersonal relations one must consider the role of cultural context. Culture influences the way in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the goal of this study is to examine cultural differences in peer socialization of emotions within children s close, same sex friendships. In order to appreciate the role of culture on emotion, one must first gain an understanding of the importance of emotional development and socialization. Once these concepts have been explained, past research regarding culture and emotion will be evidenced in support for the current study proposal. Emotional Development and Socialization Emotional development is the emergence of a child s experience, expression, understanding, and regulation of emotions. This developmental process begins in infancy and continues through late adolescence, with the most dramatic increase in skills often occurring during the transition from middle childhood to adolescence (von Salisch, 2001). Emotional development is strongly related with healthy psychological functioning, as research consistently supports the link between deficits in emotional competency and a variety of negative social and psychological outcomes such as increases in internalizing and externalizing symptomology (Garner Hinton, 2010; Perry Parish Zeman, 2011). It is because of this strong association that researchers have pushed for increased attention to identify components deemed necessary for adaptive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Military Installation Report The target will include non combatant military personnel as well as civilians who will be present at such a ceremony. Bruce Hoffman explains the definition of terrorism as violence against a TARGET AUDIENCE which includes civilians as well as non combatant government workers and military personnel who are not on the battle front, (Hoffman, B. Inside Terrorism 2006). A military installation represents the home of military personnel, it s a place where they are able to find solace, raise and enjoy their families, a place where they work, train and prepare for war to defend the country, a national symbol of military strength. It is a location where most of the military s conventional weapons are kept. An attack on such a place will send the message that the United States military (USM) will not find peace or solace even in their most sacred and vulnerable place on their home soil. The personnel that will be selected for this mission must have certain qualities. They must have the ability to access ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It decomposes at 210 degrees Celsius and releases nitrous oxide gas and ammonia. It is a fertilizer which will explode under certain conditions. It is a very stable chemical compound and does not burn on its own, but when anything that will bum (a fuel) is added to it, ammonium nitrate becomes sensitized and can be detonated. ANFO is an acronym for the most popular blasting agents in use today. It stands for ammonium nitrate, fuel oil, ANFO is a simple mixture of the two. Ammonium nitrate is an oxidizing agent that does more than just supply oxygen to support the combustion of a fuel, it is an explosive substance by itself. Since it is an oxidizer and a material that explodes, the combination of two legs of the fire triangle (the third is energy) can prove deadly. • 4. Bilingual Infants Have A Cognitive Advantage Abstract Cognitive development advances gradually during infancy. Bilingual infants have often been treated as a special population with unique advantages or disadvantages as compared to monolinguals. A recent collection of studies has demonstrated advantages in infants exposed to two languages, however the specificity of this advantage remains unclear (Singh et al., 2015; Brito Barr, 2013). Although, one component such as memory can show a hallmark of an infant s flexibility in development. Summarized in this paper are two studies in which researchers investigated whether or not bilingual infants have a cognitive advantage. With comparisons between monolinguals and bilinguals both studies reveal a bilingual advantage in cognitive control. The studies utilized two different methods, the visual habituation procedure and the deferred imitation of memory retrieval. Taken together, the studies evaluated how bilingualism may be correlated to a general enhancement of the cognitive control system. The Bilingual Advantage There has been substantial amount of empirical research done on bilingual infants in which researches have come up with the term bilingual advantage. Previous studies conducted have shown advantages associated with exposure within two languages (Singh et al., 2015; Brito Barr, 2013). One study argues that visual habituation has been shown as the best predictor of later intelligence, and is the most basic experimental test of information in infancy. During ... Example Of Demythologizing Rizal Demythologizing Rizal Whether you are discussing your neighbor, your foe, a government official or somebody who lived 200 years prior, sex never neglects to catch individuals attention and imagination. In spite of a few affirmations about Adolf Hitler s personal life, people still insist about the gossip that he was an illegitimate son of Klara Polzl and Jose Rizal when Rizal visited Linz in 1887. Individuals attempted to elaborate on the sexual experiences of previous presidents or our heroes. Many inquired as to whether Andres Bonifacio s dowager, Gregoria de Jesus, was truly raped by Colonel Agapito Bonzon when they were in imprisonment, or whether without a doubt General Antonio Luna s better half truly was a presidential progenitor named Isidra Cojuangco. At whatever point there is negative information around a hero, it is dependably seen as tattles paying little heed to the documentation. I remember when I was younger and I thought to my self, Why do I have a beautiful name with a unappealing last name Pablo ? And Why do boys use the adjective exotic to describe my beauty ? These questions boggled me until my late teens since my mother was unable to clarify to me my father s background. They divorced when I was 5 years old and the only origin fact she had about my father was that he and his family were Oaxacan Indians. One of the most densely populated cities in Mesoamerica, Monte Alban is estimated to have had 18,000 Zapotecan residents at its peak (History.com Staff). • 8. Angelas Ashes Essay Although life presents you with many obstacles, if you continue to persevere, eventually you will achieve success. Angela s Ashes, by Frank McCourt, is a good example of this. Frank is constantly limited by his poverty. We watch him stick with his goals and eventually accomplish them in the end. He also watches his mother continually try to stretch the family budget in order to get meager amounts of food. Death is also very prevalent in this book as Frank and his family have to adjust to the death of loved ones. People always say, you can t judge a book by it s cover, and Frank McCourt is certainly an example of this. Throughout the book, he is constantly denied access to opportunities that will help to ... Even when Frank s father was working, he would very often drink his paycheck instead of bringing it home to his family. Frank remembers a time when his father did bring home his paycheck, and took notice at how proud his mother was when she was finally able to pay the man for her groceries. She was able to hold her head up again because there s nothing worse in the world than to owe and be beholden to anyone (23). This is where Frank learns that the ability to pay brings dignity and self respect. He draws a connection, that when he has food, his family is prospering. Later on in life, when Frank begins to earn his own wages, he loves the feeling of independence, and dreams of providing for a family of his own. He works for Mr. Hannon, delivering coal, and makes many of the other boys jealous of him. He doesn t mind when the boys harass him though, because he has the job and Mr. Hannon tells him he s powerful (264). Frank connects having a job with being powerful. • 9. Use Of Diction And Its Effects On Adult Men With Erectile... Sildenafil, or more commonly known as VIAGRA, is a medication that is geared towards adult men with erectile dysfunction, abbreviated ED (Medicines EMC). It is stated that about 30 million men in the United States suffer from ED (Viagra). In Viagra commercials and advertisements, blunt diction is utilized to highlight the common insecurities of men, which creates this idea that in order to fulfill one s manliness, then an individual would have to take Viagra. In this particular advertisement, I noticed key ploys to entice a man suffering from ED to take Viagra as a means by using a bold selection of diction, a paradise getaway background seen from a cabana, and an inviting, seductive woman. In the advertisement, the audience may first notice the blue text in the upper left corner that reads, Gentlemen: VIAGRA helps guys with ED get and keep an erection. The text is light blue, which is the same color as the pill, to indicate that this product is targeted towards males. The use of diction in this advertisement is straight forward with strong connotation. It blatantly states what the product does. This could instill the idea that the product is confident and a guaranteed investment, thus making the consumer believe that it may help with his sex life. Viagra may also be intentionally bolded as a connection to what the product is intended to do. The text looks bigger and bolder and the product s purpose is to make a male suffering from ED to become bigger and bolder. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. How Diversity Has Changed My Life I always marveled at how Joshua s Yakama managed to stay on. Sweat dripping and curls bouncing with each exercise, Joshua listened for my instruction. I had to be very articulate and an extremely good demonstrator when correcting Joshua with his exercises. A practicing Hasidic Jew, Joshua was not allowed to touch or be touched by a female. Touch for Gary, however, was crucial. Legally blind from the age of 6, Gary relied on his sense of touch, as well as my physical contact guiding him through the proper motions of his exercise program. Qing Yuan barely needed any guidance through her exercise program. Despite the significant language barrier that existed between her and everyone at the clinic, she had a doting son with her who would translate between Chinese and English. However, we later found out that her son would intentionally misinterpret certain medical information to his mother, that was thought in Chinese culture to bring shame to her. ... • 11. The Problem Of Drug Use And Trafficking Lil Draggin (An essay on the problem of drug use and trafficking and the multiple possibilities of solving this issue) It has come to my attention that a certain issue needs to be addressed and if this issue continues to grow then this town could see some serious changes and people could find themselves in serious dilemmas. The issue I am addressing is drug use and trafficking that has been known of for many years. Due to the fact that the least bit of attention has been brought upon drug trafficking it has begun to grow and create a larger issue than some can even begin to imagine. Illicit drug trade according to the world UN Drug Report is one of the largest global businesses, at some $322 billion (Shah,2008). Now in a sense it might be a risky business to get into, but that is fast cash and might I say a good amount as well. Now this isn t the only issue I will bring up when you notice that the attention is not given to this issue drugs can be in high demand and because no one has done much to barricade these drugs it is extremely easy to obtain these drugs. My solution for this problem comes in three s as a nation we should not make any drug legal, create effective crime policies, and reducing demand. The first way we will decrease the drug trade is by not making any drug legal to any civilian of this country. Drug legalization increasingly merits serious consideration as both an analytical model and a policy option for addressing the drug problem. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the use of superlatives Macbeth refers to Lady Macbeth at the start of his letter as his dearest partner of greatness. She reads the letter aloud and is astounded by what it has to say. The first thing she says after finishing the letter is that Macbeth has already sustained the titles of Thane of Glamis and Thane of Cawdor and shalt be what thou art promis d. I don t think Lady Macbeth will ever be truly happy again, unless Macbeth becomes King. Macbeth tells her that he is a brave man but if pushed to do something evil, he will become a monster, but Lady Macbeth attacks his ego by saying when he does it he will be so much more of a man. Lady Macbeth makes him feel bad by telling him that if she swore to do something then she would rather have dash d the brains out of the babe that milked her rather than go back on it. This shows how much of a cold and ruthless person she really is. Macbeth asks what happens if they should fail and she simply replies we fail. • 13. Why Do British Soldiers Wear Uniform A common myth that I chose was the myth regarding the British Soldiers and their red coats. The myth was the explanation of why the British soldiers wore red coats. The myth back then and that is still circulating is that the British soldiers wore red coats so their enemies could not see blood on them when they were injured. Ultimately, if you didn t have a knowledge of the exact reason, you would automatically assume it was a war tactic. It would make sense in preventing one soldier or another to be sought out because of an injury (weakness) making them an easy target. Let s look at the myth of the British Soldiers, the reason behind their red coats and why this myth still circulates today. First, let s discuss the myth of the British soldiers. Their uniforms they were red and white. The majority of their uniform was white. So rationally speaking, it wouldn t make sense. • 15. Tax Implication Of Capital Assets Essay Tax implication of Capital Assets: As mentioned above, when an asset is sold it may be sold in excess of the owner s basis. When this occurs the taxpayer may be taxed on the gain at the more favorable capital gains rate (typically around 15%). What was not discussed in prior modules, was the treatment of capital gains for corporations, treatment of capital losses for both individuals and corporations, and how the length of ownership impact the classification and tax treatment of assets upon their sale. The IRS addresses the topic of capital assets in Section 1221 (Legal Information Institute). Within this section, rather than defining what qualifies as a capital asset, The Code lists items that are not capital assets. This backwards approach has led to a grey area in regards to what classifies as a capital assets. As a result, many court cases have been on this topic. Once it is determined whether an asset is capital in nature , the various tax treatments can be considered. Specifically, capital assets sold at a gain that are held for less than one year at the time of sale will be classified as a short term gain (Investopedia, 2015). Short term capital gains can be used to offset short term capital losses for both individuals and corporations, however any excess short term capital gains will be taxed at the taxpayer s regular tax rate. In addition, long term capital gains experienced by a corporation are not subject to the more favorable capital gains rate. Also, when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everything from family status to beliefs about abortion can determine how a person will vote. In my presentation, however, I focused on three aspects that effect voter turnout and elections. I found, in my research, that a voter s age, sex and party identification greatly factor into how a person will cast his or her vote. Men and women differ greatly in many aspects of life, and voting is one of them. In the 1992 Presidential elections, women were found by the U.S. Census Current Population Reports to have voted two percent more than men did. Of the 62% of women who did vote, more were found to have supported Bill Clinton rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... this low voting rate was attributed to a general lack of feeling of responsibility. As young adults age, marry, and become parents, their sense of community and responsibility increases, while their apathy toward voting decreases, (Abramson 116). Another reason for low voter turnout numbers for 18 to 24 year olds is their generally low levels of party loyalties. Not having strong party ties decreases one s incentive to vote. Registration and voting organizations such as MTV s Rock the Vote have been accredited with increasing young Americans voter turnout numbers. Rock the Vote s primary focus, since its founding in 1990, has been increasing voter registration within the nation s youngest age group. The organization frequently hosts Get Out the Vote drives on college campuses and on concert tours in order to reach young people. since its beginning, support for Rock the Vote has been massive, and in 1992 it was recognized for influencing more than one million young voters to participate in electing their President. Voter turnout for other age groups also increased in 1992, but those numbers were not considered to be a significant rise because age groups with citizens over 45 years old already have generally high turnout.
