Legal Positivism Vs. Law Of Nature
Legal Positivism v. the Law of Nature
Legal philosophy has changed dramatically throughout the years; many theories have evolved and are
still supported to this day. Concepts such as values, morality, desires, and reason all come into play
when law is defined. Law is a very difficult word to define; what exactly is it and where does it come
from? To understand the idea of law, one must also understand how humans have evolved. From the
beginning, humans have been forming groups for survival; either they were frightened by animals or
other tribes. As time went on, according to Thomas Hobbes, a government was created to protect
humans from their own evil actions. Since humans, according to historic events, have always been
brutal it would make sense a governing body was created to put an end to these acts of violent. The
question, in reality, is whether the government put an end to violent acts based on ethical reasoning or
was it created to promote survival within a larger society. This question brings forth the two legal
theories of the Law of Nature and Legal Positivism which both will be discussed later on.
Nevertheless, the sense of morality and a divine power was prominent in the past, there has been a
change in the present time. We now have a government which creates laws based on current desires
and enforce these laws without morality in mind.
Morals have dictated the behaviors of different societies throughout time; the idea of morality has
been tied alongside a

It has been shown that one of the strongest effects of music on the brain is in the area of memory. A
tempo of a steady rate of 60 beats per minute is shown to be ideal for positive effects on one s memory
as it is proven that the silence between two musical notes triggers the brain cells and neurons, which
are responsible for the development of sharp memory. Classical music fits into both of these criteria s,
proving that it is the most beneficial music genre for improving one s intellectual ability.
Research has also proven that classical music from the baroque period causes the heart beat and pulse
rate to relax to the beat of the music. As the body becomes relaxed and alert, the mind is able to
concentrate more easily.
The Mozart effect is a phenomenon that states that when an individual listens to classical music, their
intellectual and motor abilities increase and become more efficient. It has a profound effect on young
children because their minds are still developing at a rapid rate and their neural pathways are easily
influenced.
The music composed by Mozart has a 60 beat per minute pattern that is repetitive throughout his
pieces. This pattern activates the right and left hemispheres of the brain and it strengthens the
connections between the neurons that connect the two halves. Strengthening of the neural connections
leads to more efficient information processing because the brain must concentrate on comprehending
multiple stimuli and it therefore

Finelli s Bust Of St. Peters Basilica
These three busts of women in the 1600s are exceptionally different than those before this time.
Women portraits in the 1600s have obvious influence from these sculptors, but also lack the focus to
detail and movement. Andrea Bolgi sculpted St. Helen which is housed in St. Peters. The sculpture has
movement expressed through the drapery which is used by Bernini in a copious amount of his
sculptures and Algardi used this in his bust of Olympia Maidalchini Pamphilj. Also in St. Peters
Basilica, Francesco Mochi takes the same approach to his sculpture of St. Veronica. St. Veronica is
portrayed in a dramatic way, with multiple folds in her dress and the cloth with Jesus s face is blowing
in the wind. Taking a page from the book of Bernini, Mochi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He adds a story to his portrait, and has intense detailed style to the face of the sitter without losing
beauty and passion. Finelli s bust is elegantly beautiful, but is not done natural. Finelli fails to focus on
anything about his sitters face which leaves her looking like just another wealthy woman with no
depth to her. Algardi adds detail to the face of his sitter, but instead of portraying at her best moment,
takes a naturalistic approach which makes the portrait unflattering. Bernini added detail needed, but
still managed to make the portrait look like the best version of the sitter. Although, this may represent
the beauty of the sitter more than the skill of the artist. Bernini, Algardi, and Finelli are all infatuated
with detail, this is what makes their portraits stand out from all of the others. These are some of the
first portraits of woman sculpted, and it is fitting to the time that the focus on detail is used on
accessories or sexuality. The artists focus on detail, but each to different parts of their works to create
different qualities. Finelli has fine detail to accessories, and intrinsic drill work. While Bernini is at the
other spectrum, detail to face but faster drill work, and Algardi falls in the middle of this. Bernini,
Algardi, and Finelli are all well respected and each bring their own unique style to baroque period, but
Bernini goes above and beyond. Bernini s

Figurative Language In Caged Bird
Poetry Essay of Caged Bird by Maya Angelou and I,Too by Langston Hughes The poems, Caged Bird
by Maya Angelou, and I,Too by Langston Hughes, both show a theme of being unfairly treated and
wanting to be normal and free. Both poems display similar themes and describe how this feels to be in
these harsh situations. The vivid imagery and description in these poems allowed the reader to
visualize a picture of the scene when reading these poems. There are many quotes in these poems that
show the imagery used, such as these from Caged Bird, and the trade winds soft through the distant
hills. But the caged bird stands on the grave of dreams. The caged bird makes the reader visualize a
paradise of freedom for the free bird and a torcherous grave for the caged bird. I,Too had many similar
quotes, they send me to eat in the kitchen, and I ll be at the table. This poem makes the reader
visualize the family and table as the poem progresses. They both contain great imagery of anger and
freedom. The poems also used figurative language to get the message across. In Caged Bird, his
shadow shouts on a nightmare scream, and, the caged bird sings. These quotes are examples of
personification because shadows cannot shout and birds cannot sing; the poem is giving ... Show more

In Caged Bird, can seldom see through his bars of rage, and, so he opens his throat to sing; to sing of
freedom. These quotes show the caged bird is angry and wants to be free; to do as the other birds and
roam free of charge. I,Too contains a similar theme, I am the darker brother, and, they send me to eat
in the kitchen, and, I ll be at the table. These quotes show the narrator is angry at his family, he feels
that he is being mistreated and does not see why he is not allowed to eat with the rest of the family; he
wants to do as the other kids and be able to eat without conflict. The theme of the poems help to

The Difference Between Sex and Gender
In today s society sex and gender seem to have two separate connotative meanings. Sex is a more
scientific term that explains physical traits and sexual preferences. Gender carries a more social tone.
Meaning that it refers to the different clothing, activities, career choices, and positions people hold in
society. A person s social status helps separate or classify the two sexes. br br Sex is the total sum of
physical characteristics that distinguish males and females from each other. The most distinctive
difference in characteristics is that man and women have different reproductive organs. This is pretty
obvious and so are other traits like facial hair, deep voices, and muscular builds. It is not often that you
see a six foot five ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the rapid changes in gender equality it is not as easy to separate sex by what a person does for a
living. What position they hold in society or a household is not a good indication either. Years ago I
could have said that if a person is a police officer, a soldier, a fireman, a politician, a lawyer, a doctor
or any type of highly paid professional than that person must be a man. Back then this would have
been a pretty good hypothesis. The father was the man of the house. The minister was always male
and there was no such thing as women in sports. br br I could have probably also said that if a person
was a secretary, a grade school teacher, a receptionist, a nurse, a maid, or a homemaker then that
person must be a woman. People in the female group or gender worked lower paying less demanding
jobs because It was believed that a woman could not handle the pressures that a man s job required. br
br With the absence of the father figure in many American homes women have taken over as head of
the house. They juggle home life and work to keep their families together so that they can properly
raise their children. br br Women have broken the gender barrier in almost every sport except for
football and hockey. Some women s sports are pretty interesting to watch. I like to look at women s
track, basketball, and boxing every now

Dinosaur Dinosaurs: Extinct or Natural Causes
As geologic time goes, all the dinosaurs living on earth suddenly disappeared. How did these
dominated and gigantic creatures really die? Was it a slow extinction through natural causes, or did it
happen suddenly? These questions give rise to many different beliefs on how the dinosaurs
disappeared over sixty five million years ago. Something happened sixty five million years ago, at the
end of the Cretaceous period that was so devastating that it altered the course of life on earth.
Extinction is easily defined: the birth rate fails to keep up with the death rate. However, the definition
does not answer the question about the nature or causes of extinction. Since so many ... Show more

A massive eruption may have saturated the atmosphere with carbon dioxide so the that a sharp rise in
temperature occurred worldwide. The excessive carbon dioxide would have permitted solar energy to
enter the atmosphere but would have blocked the radiation of most surface heat back into space,
causing the greenhouse effect . rising temperatures could have killed off or reduced the activity of
plankton, disrupting food chains and also disrupting the plankton s normal role in converting carbon
dioxide to oxygen through photosynthesis. It would have taken long for dinosaurs to become extinct.
Dinosaurs may have also killed themselves. It is possible that they consumed poison from plants. The
emergence of flowering plants could have poisoned them. These plants contained alkaloids. Smaller
animals with lesser appetites could have survived the doses, but perhaps the dinosaur could not. Most
mammals are smart enough to avoid these poison ness plants because of the bitter taste. The
dinosaurs, however, may have not had the sense or the liver. They could not taste the bitterness or
detoxify the ingested substances. This theory is not scientifically significant because there is no way
of telling if the dinosaurs could taste, or how their digestive system worked.
What if it wasn t the dinosaurs that caused their own extinction, but something greater? Species of
animals that have survived for millions of years have to be well adapted to their environment or they

Feeling Small Art
Feeling Small: Scale and Proportion in Art As I walk on the grounds of the Nelson Atkins Museum of
Art in Kansas City, I encounter one of the Oldenburg and van Bruggen s giant shuttlecocks.
Additionally, as I view and walk around this giant shuttlecock, I cannot help but think of how this
object is disproportional, especially in comparison to it s surroundings. The shuttlecock is huge and
unbelievably larger than the average size of a shuttlecock, which would fit within the palm of my
hand. An altered view is created by the use of the visual principles of scale and proportion in order to
create this sculpture. Distinguishing between scale and proportion is significant in depicting a specific
image in which the size is questionable and cannot be visualized accurately. According to the
textbook, scale is the size relation of one thing to another. However, Proportion is ... Show more

The image is also funny because of the proportion of the objects within the piece of art. According to
the text, it is appeared that the badminton game was being played on the grass and it appears that the
shuttlecock fell during a game between two giants who used the museum as the net for the game. I
find this to be hilarious when I picture it in my head because the falsehood of the museum is amazing.
Normally a museum would be much larger than the individuals playing badminton and the objects
used to play the game. However, in this piece of art, it is the complete opposite and it makes me laugh
when thinking about the game of badminton. Although I am unsure if the artists intended to make the
artwork funny, I believe that it provides a sense of relief for the individuals viewing the pieces. The
artists deserve to be respected for the intelligent idea to create something that can be misinterpreted

Analyzing Voltaire s Optimism In The Novel Candide
In the novel, Candide, Voltaire criticizes Lebiniz s optimism in the form of Candide s tutor, Dr.
Pangloss who claimed that everything is for the best in this best of all possible worlds . Using Dr.
Pangloss teaching, Voltaire demonstrates how optimism simplifies and ignores the real world of
human suffering and everyday experiences. In Chapter Three, Pangloss catches syphilis from the maid
whom he had an intercourse with. Instead of being in misery or trying to cure of the sexually
transmitted disease which could ultimately harm his life, he maintains on his philosophy and remains
positive. He justifies that syphilis is a wonderful ingredient in the best of world as if Columbus is an

How Does Anthropogenic Noise Affect Cetaceans
Introduction As human presence in the oceans is continually revealed to be detrimental to marine life,
one major area of concern is noise pollution in the ocean and its effects on marine mammals. Sound is
vital to marine mammals communication and livelihood, so the disturbance of the sound in their
habitat has varying effects. The impact of anthropogenic noise on marine mammals, specifically
cetaceans, can be seen in various experiments and observations concerning the sounds produced by
shipping, construction, and sonars. All of which reveal potential and consequential behavioral and
physiological effects, which include acoustic masking, change in foraging behavior, and mass
strandings. Species studied include harbor porpoises (Phocoena phocoena), ... Show more content on

It is important that we continue to research known harmful anthropogenic sounds and their effects on
cetaceans to limit further damage, and to research other sources of noise due to humans and their
potential effects to prevent future harm. Through research, it is shown that various noise pollution
caused by humans can have detrimental effects on cetaceans such as harbor porpoises, bottlenose
dolphins, killer whales, and Cuvier s beaked whales. Shipping, windfarm construction, and sonar can
cause temporary or permanent hearing threshold changes, which can result in decreased foraging
ability and communication ability. Shipping has been seen to decrease foraging time and cause
acoustic masking. Sonar can cause death due to strandings and lesions. These all add up to show that,
overall, noise pollution by humans has a serious effect on the quality of life for cetaceans. It is also
important to recognize that absence of a detected reaction does not mean that there is no impact on
these cetaceans. It is possible that noise pollution can cause physiological and psychological responses
without any external symptoms we can detect. It may be important to develop methods to observe
these more subtle reactions to noise pollution that may impact cetacean s way of life. It is important
that humans realize the full extent of their effect on marine life and create measures to prevent more
harm. Noise pollution s effect on cetaceans affect not only these species, but the other marine life they
interact with and the ecosystems of the

Title Page How does the title page of Slaughterhouse Five differ from that of a conventional book?
The title page looks sort of childlike instead of sophisticated like general novels. What is suggested by
the subtitle of the book: The Children s Crusade, a Duty Dance with Death? That the author may have
written it less gory so that children can read it. Chapter One From what point of view is Chapter One

authors point of view. It shows how much the author remembers from Dresden. In the first few pages

ended, those involved never stopped thinking of it. Slaughterhouse Five features constant internal
associations. That is, the reader notices subtle connections among characters, events, episodes, etc. For
instance, something happens to one character that is eerily similar to that which happened to another.

Social Observation Of The Southlands Mall In Centennial
Social Observations I decided to go the Southlands Mall in Centennial, to observe people interactions.
I choose to head over to the mall around 11 am on Friday, September 15th. This was a great time for
me because my son was in school and I knew I needed at least two hours where I could just sit and
observe people without any distractions. When I was observing, I was looking for norms of behavior
and American values. To Begin, let me give you a visual of the mall. The Southlands mall is a large
outdoor mall that s filled with shops, diners and entertainment. I thought I would sit near Town Square
which is in the center of the mall. I could see majority of the store from here. There were a lot of
mothers out watching their children play in the water fountain and at the park. Norms are how values
tell us to behave (Conley, 2017, pg. 90). They are like rules or guideline to what kind of behavior is
acceptable. Norms can be informal or formal. Informal norms are unspoken for example, as I observed
my surroundings I saw children taking turns going down the slide. I also saw families standing in line
getting Pretzels. These are norms that are not written down but we learn them when we are young.

The Controversy Over Voter Identification Laws Essay
In 2002, with the intention of updating election technology, hampering voter fraud, and increasing
faith in the electoral system, President George W. Bush signed into law the Help America Vote Act
(Gerken 14). Since the implementation of this act, controversial voter identification laws have begun
springing up all over the country. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, thirty
one states require all voters to show ID before voting at the polls. In fifteen of these, the ID must
include a photo of the voter; in the remaining sixteen, non photo forms of ID are acceptable (Voter
Identification Requirements). In 2005 Indiana lawmakers passed one of the strictest voter
identification laws in the country requiring voters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Republican proponents claim that voter identification laws do not discourage those who are most
likely to vote from turning out to the polls. They also believe voter identification laws are vitally
essential to discourage voter fraud and to strengthen public trust in the electoral system (Gerken 40).
Looking closer at both sides of this continuing controversy will help to clarify each sides claims and
reveal any misinformation. Democrats, who almost unanimously oppose voter identification laws,
strongly feel that minority groups of voters, who tend to vote Democratic, are more likely to not have
the resources, knowledge, or means to have or obtain the necessary identification requirements for the
polls. In a research project developed by Matt A. Barreto, Stephen A. Nuño, and Gabriel R. Sanchez,
testing was conducted to determine the rates of access to valid photo identification among voters and
non voters in Indiana, with an eye towards specific demographic groups, such as the elderly and racial
minorities (Barreto, Nuño, and Sanchez 112). Indiana was selected because of its strict voter
identification law and for the ability to closely assess specific segments of the electorate under such a
law. Their research method, using a random telephone survey of 1,000 registered and 500 non
registered voters, was conducted in a way that was unbiased and provided the most reliable and
accurate results possible (Barreto, Nuño, and Sanchez

The Case Of The Legal Rights
The following case study presents issues related to the legal rights afforded the accused and the
reasons those rights are provided to all individuals under our system of criminal justice.
John Doe is an individual that left his country in an effort to make a better life for himself. However,
he does not have legal status in America and was recently arrested for shoplifting, which was valued
over $1,000. At the time of his arrest, John voluntarily began to make incriminating statements to the

When John started to utter the self incriminating statements in front of the police officers he was not
under any force to make the self incriminating statements. For example, the Court ruled that when a
defendant makes an un Mirandized incriminating statement followed by a later Mirandized
confession, the subsequent confession should not be excluded from trial (see Oregon v. Elstad, 470
U.S. 298 [1985]). The un Miranda situation was completely legal by the police officers due to the
factor that John wasn t being interviewed in the patrol car and at the time of arrest. It is believed by
society that the Police must advise Miranda warnings at the time of the arrest. To advise a person of
the Miranda warnings there must be a requirement which is when a person is placed in custody which
then deprives of his/her freedom in any significant way, the police must advise by given a Miranda
warning prior to interrogation of the suspect. (Police Questioning: When Miranda Warnings Are
Required, 2010). The requirement for Miranda warning is custody with interrogation voluntary
statements are not subject to Miranda warnings, so an officer need not stop a suspect from making
incriminating voluntary statements. If the police officers were conducting an interrogation during the
time of arrest to include in the patrol car then the situation would have changed requiring the

Gender Roles And Roles Of Women s Career Advancement
According to Feistritzer s research (as cited in Bynum, 2015), there has been a disproportionate
representation of women in education at the highest positions of education leadership , especially in
comparison to the number who begin their careers as teachers. Although the number of women in
management and administrative positions has increased, the majority of senior positions are still held
by men. The lack of women role models in academic departments and barriers women face in
acquiring leadership roles can be contributed to male oriented organizational expectations. Research
has shown that mentoring can significantly enhance the salary and promotion possibilities for women
experiencing these types of situations. In academia, mentoring awareness can reduce barriers to
women s career advancement, tenure and pay (Cullen Luna, 1993). Reddick (as cited in Gamble
Turner, 2015) believes that the efforts diversifying and including women in the ranks of tenured
faculty positions have not made much process towards fulfillment. Women must seek mentorship
early in their careers; have diversity among their mentors; and share experiences with other female
faculty. As an African American female at a Historical Black University (HBCU), the importance of
acquiring mentorship to become successful in the academia arena is tantamount. As a junior faculty,

Big Data A New Source
Big Data a new source in Statistics
BIS 625 Research in Information Systems
Back ground:
Social Scientists exhibit overconfidence in the reliability of the statistical data which was achieved by
single or a small sampling. However, the reliability of data is mostly confined to a smaller volumes.
Statistics, when dealing with larger volumes of data exhibit inaccurate results. There are many factors
which affect the end results. This might be due to the improper sampling, improper handling of large
volumes of data or inefficiency in analyzing the large volumes. Growing technologies are able to
handle the data management and analyzing problems. Big Data, is a modern technology which can
handle such large data, analyze it and can get better results. Long before the term big data emerged,
Europe already had a pioneer in the field Alan Turing, the British mathematician who broke Nazi
Germany s Enigma code and is widely viewed as the father of modern computing and algorithms.
(Blau, 2015).
This increased the demand for data scientists across Europe. The larger the volumes of data the greater
the complexity of data and analyzing of data. Getting high varieties and volumes of data at greater
velocities is the advantage of using Big data.(H. Davenport, 2014). The trend of making information
from data has started from decision support followed by execution support, analytical processing,
business Intelligence (BI) ended with Big Data. The design Big data architecture and

What Is Concept Change
What is concept change? For example, the article A General Overview of Conceptual Change
Research says, It is important to understand that those who are involved in the conceptual change
research domain are concerned about much more than simply altering a particular belief. If this were
not the case, then it could be argued that conceptual change occurs every time someone changes his or

Random Acts Of Kindness
For the past thirty days, random acts of kindness were experimented at Galion s track and field. The
purpose of this experiment was to boost the confidence of my fellow track members, in hopes of them
to feel and perform better. The group of people I interacted with were mainly male and females aging
between 15 and 19. The females were most likely to respond verbally by saying thank you. The males
mostly gave facial expressions or did not say anything at all. After awhile, I started to notice that these
RAK s were commencing a domino effect. This domino effect is supported by Durkheim s collective
conscious concept. I also noticed that the peers began to perform better during track meets. The use of
soft skills were a key factor in this experiment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time period, a habit can be added or subtracted from one s lifestyle (Cutts, 2011). I am
pleased to announce that the habit of random acts of kindness is one that I now possess. After doing
RAK s for an experiment, I began to notice that these RAK s were becoming more of a natural
routine, not something that I was purposely doing for data. With this becoming a habit, I have helped
create a positive atmosphere at Galion s track and field. For instance, on April 4, I was cheering on
Marisa as she high jumped. I told her encouraging words when she did not jump to her satisfaction.
She repeated my actions towards her by doing the same thing to other high jumpers. The people on the
track team were beginning to develop a sense of natural optimism passed around by others,
unconsciously. By performing these RAK s, I feel that I have initiated social change. Gilmore (2007),
states that there is untapped potential in even the smallest good deed and it can have a multiplier effect
strong enough to change the world (p.133). This quote of hers is true within the experiment that I have
been practicing. The small RAK s I have been doing for my fellow track members are being passed on
to others around the track and field. If these students continue to do so, we can eliminate the
negativity, thus making the world a better

The Electronic Medical Record ( Emr ) Is It Really Secure
Educational to the hospital RN s and LVN s teaching how to be safe with EMR s. The Electronic
Medical Record (EMR) is it really secured? The Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is a secure source
of information that give clinicians real time access to a variety of patient health information, such as
patient history, billing or insurance data, allergies, immunizations, medications, orders, laboratory
tests, diagnostic results, and images. Such technology has enormous potential to enhance the
efficiency and effectiveness of health care through decreased medical errors, increased preventative
care and enhanced detection and treatment (Fiato, K. A., 2012). With the rapid development of
information technology, EMR is likely to have medical records disclosure issues. Some international
medical records leakage happens recently. In USA 2011, there is a leakage about hospitalized

serious damages. Thus the management security of EMR documents catches highly attention in these
few years and it induces the development of teaching nurses on how to provide safe care using EMR s.

Resolving Work Conflict Dementia
Resolving Work Conflict
Dementia often forces family members to admit their loved ones into long term care facilities.
Unfortunately, a variety of issues commonly arises after admission. For instance, family members,
especially those who have previously taken care of the resident, are sometimes reluctant to allow
changes in the residents routine, medication regimen, diet, etc. This can create conflict because
sometimes changes are necessary in order to create a plan of care capable of enhancing the resident s
quality of life.
Furthermore, health outcomes are individualized. Therefore, what constitutes an optimal plan of care

The Concept Of Capacity And Capacity Utilization
1.2 The concept of capacity and capacity utilization
Capacity is very important but least understood concept in manufacturing and business world
(Klammer,1996). Different categories of people in business and manufacturing measure capacity
differently. For example, some financial managers might measure plant capacity in terms of the
equipment installed in the plant while operational supervisors might measure capacity in terms of
worker efficiency. Klein Summers ,(1996) defined an organization s productive capacity as the total
level of output or production that it could produce in a given time period . Capacity utilization is the
percentage of the firm s total possible production capacity that is being used. Therefore, an
organization should be most efficient if it is running at 100% capacity utilization. An organization s
full capacity is the minimum point on total cost function, a full input point on the aggregate
production function and a bottleneck point in a general equilibrium system. Full capacity should be
defined as a realizable level of output that can be attained under normal input conditions without

econometric models in estimation of the relative significance of the determinants in investment,

Congress Enacted The Equal Opportunity For Individuals...
In 1990, Congress enacted the Equal Opportunity for Individuals with Disabilities Act, more
commonly known as the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, to provide a clear and
comprehensive national mandate for the elimination of discrimination against individuals with
disabilities. This followed four years of work by the National Council on Disability, an independent
federal agency charged with advising the President, Congress, and other federal agencies on disability
policies, programs, procedures, and practices. In 1986, the National Council on Disability
recommended that the U.S. Congress enact a comprehensive equal opportunity law for individuals
with disabilities. In 1988, the National Council on Disability drafted the first version of the Americans
with Disabilities Act, which was introduced by Sen. Weicker and Rep. Coelho in the 100th Congress.
Prior to the ADA, only federal agencies and federally funded programs were legally required to
provide protection and accommodations for disabled individuals. The protection, provided by the
Architectural Barriers Act of 1968 and the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Rehabilitation Act),
required that all federal and federally assisted facilities and programs be made accessible. However,

The closure of this clinic would go against the culture that the healthcare organization has promoted
and the mission that it pursues. Healthcare organizations have an obligation to protect vulnerable
populations by ensuring that access to healthcare is not hindered (Weber, 2001). This obligation is
derived from the principle of common good. According to this principle, organizations need to
embrace integrity as they promote the social welfare of communities (Kammer, 2012).The short term
goals that the hospital needs to develop to address this problem includes assuring the community and
the medical staff that the well baby and pre natal clinic remains open.
It has been observed that leaders are in the best position to offer direction to their organizations

The Causes Of President Herbert Hoover And The Great...
The reasoning behind what actually caused the great depression is contentious. Most Americans will

discussing the causations.
Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States of America (1929 1933) had a main role in
changing US policy. President Hoover, was born in 1874, grew up in the state of Oregon and

Hoover was present, before during and after the Boxer Rebellion in China. He worked to feed

International Chaos Of The United Nations
A number of researchers, especially realists, believe that the anarchy does exist in contemporary
international politics, since there are no hierarchy of authority exists in international relations (Pease,
2008:51). International anarchy does not always mean chaos or disorder, however, it urges each state
to arm itself for self defence, and it may also fraught with serious military conflict. Although the
Preamble of the United Nations (UN) Charter states that one of the duties of the UN is to maintain
international peace and security , it is not widely regarded as international government, which
exercises its authority all over the world. Still, millions of people believe that the international
organisations, especially the United Nations play crucial roles in preventing and resolving military
conflict between states. In this essay, I will examine whether the international organisation, especially
the United Nations contributes to prevent or détente international disputes caused wholly or partly by
the elements of international anarchy , or not.
Although some international organisations, even the UN, may not be recognised as world government
, which eliminates international anarchy, a number of studies suggest the positive dimensions of
international organisations in terms of preventing or resolving conflicts between member states
effectively. Russett, John, Oneal and Davis (1998) argue that the majority of international

the lesson or not. There is also no differentiation in the classroom. All of the students are given the
same materials, lessons and the same amount of help. There are students with IEP s and students with
their English at basic proficiency levels. The only time that instruction is differentiated is when one

The students should be instructed to use scaffolding and the teacher should be able to gage when the
students are starting to understand the information and send the individuals to their seats as she sees
fit.
When it comes to differentiated instruction, there is none. When it comes to the student whose L1 is
not English, she is stuck guessing on many of their assessments. Many times, the language of the test
is content specific academic language, which is much more difficult for the individual to understand.
This could easily be adjusted by, making sure the student is taught the specific language throughout
the lesson and unit. Another course of action would be to differentiate the assessment by adjusting the
language so that the L2 is comprehensible to the student.
Language Allocation in Classroom Within the Spanish speaking community at this charter school,
there is little to no L1 used during the school day. The students instruction does now allow for the
individuals L1 to be used. Occasionally, when the students are not having a silent lunch or when they
are given recess, there will be murmurs in the students L1. Aside from the occasional conversations
during recess or lunch time, the students do not speak in their native language at school. The teacher

John Anthony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange
A relatively unknown author at the beginning of his writing career, John Anthony Burgess Wilson,
better known under his pen name by just Anthony Burgess, would become a prominent author towards
the end of his life. Burgess has allowed many to scrutinize his novels, ranging from his three colonial
novels at the beginning of his writing career, Time for a Tiger, The Enemy in the Blanket, and Beds in
the East to his most well known novel, A Clockwork Orange (The International Anthony Burgess
Foundation). Burgess s dystopian classic continues to provoke deeper thinking, yet also startle those
today. Many believe that Burgess is a remarkable author due to his stunning portrayal of extreme
youth violence in his novel A Clockwork Orange. From a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A couple of years after his father remarried, Burgess would begin writing his earliest published poems
and short stories. Similar to many children today, Burgess despised his stepmother, declaring how she
subscribed to all the current bigotries. The relationship between father and son was not the ideal
relationship either, his father, to an extent, still blamed him for his mother s death. Burgess did not
only lose his mother, but he would lose his father as well, gaining a mostly absent drunk who called
himself a father (Burgess). Before Burgess could even speak, he lost his mother, and the affection of
his father.
Burgess was schooled at St. Edmund s Elementary School before moving to Bishop Bilsborrow
Memorial Elementary school, both Catholic schools in Moss Side. As a child, he be largely isolated
from others his age, due to being either persecuted because of his wealthier appearance, or ignored by
all (Burgess). As a result of Burgess s impressive grades, he would be given a place in Xaverian
College. This would be where he would stay to complete his School Certificate examinations. Burgess
s first published poems would appear in the school magazine, named The Manchester Xaverian, under
the name John Burgess Wilson. Although uninterested in music as a child, Burgess would find his
passion after listening to a flute solo in which he described as sinuous, exotic, and erotic. Music was

How Can Rubbish Protect Australian Marine Life
research Journal
Australian Marine Life
Script:
Introduction
Throughout Australian s seas lurks a silent killer. In Australia, rubbish is getting worse with plastic
pollution, it is not only heavily used beaches that get affected with so much rubbish floating in the
water but everywhere else in the world.
The predator is plastic and it s floating in our ocean and it is coming from the coast. This constant
barrier (the equivalent of 136 billion milk jugs each year, estimates a study published in the journal
Science) poses a serious danger to marine life. Animals can get tangled up in this trash or consume it
either because the animals mistake it as prey or because the plastic has been broken down into tiny
particles by seawater.
Research has shown that there is 5.25 trillion pieces of rubbish floating in the ocean and all that
pollution is coming from the shore. Plastic bottles, caps and straws, grocery bags, plastic wraps,
disposable cutlery, coffee cup lids are the main items ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In more recent times, policy changes in many countries have reflected the view that the ocean does not
have an infinite capacity to absorb our waste. However, marine pollution remains a major problem and
threatens marine life in the ocean at all levels. Micro plastics is another issue to our environment as it
is killing and polluting the environment. Micro plastics are bathroom products such as facial
exfoliators, body scrubs, and toothpaste is tiny pieces of plastic that are affecting animals, not only
marine life but also birds such as seagulls, penguins, Cuban bird, pelicans and so many more other
birds also seal, crocodiles, polar bears are also dying from this. The plastic pollution travels easily
from land to sea. It blows in from bins and garbage dumps, or flows through stormwater drains into
our waterways and eventually ends up in the

Should Graffiti Be Considered Art Research Paper
Should Graffiti Be Considered Art?
Graffiti has long been a controversial topic, is it art or is it vandalism? Most people would consider
graffiti to be vandalism but I think that it is so much more. It is a way for people to express their ideas,
graffiti isn t vandalism in certain areas, and graffiti is a very unique form of art. Graffiti is becoming
more accepted as a form of art by many and even though these painters put lots of time and care into
their works of art they are still labeled as vandals.
Graffiti is a way for people to express their ideas and their opinions on events happening in the world.
When many people see graffiti all they think is that the people who did it wanted to vandalize the area,
in many cases that is not true

RGAAnd Adelburger Case Study
Thankfully, most of the RGA and Adelburger holdings within the Greater American Catholic School
System and the countless numbers of Dweller cities in the Coalition were still under their immediate
sphere of influence. Although the number of Catholic schools, Catholic high schools and Dweller
cities lost to their rivals continued growing steadily, the number remained minimal. In addition, a
couple of RGA and Adelburger crews and groups trained to operate behind the front acted as stay
behind cells, disrupting the other factions communications, chain of logistics, sabotaging captured
assets, subverting and demoralizing them. This included some of the more elite of RGA groups, such
as the Nightingales and Plaid Circle. For schools possessing a large population of Volksryanischen and
Ryanites, especially in Catholic schools, high schools and colleges, these stay behind cells formed the
backbone of several partisan resistance groups bearing the Volksbesatzung designation, training and
advising them in resisting the hostile influences of the other factions. This strategy was so successful,
that the other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joining them was a group of sympathetic Volksryanischen, which they had been advising and aiding
for some unknown time now. By raiding a known stopover site of supplies being cached on behalf of
the Underground, this would potentially buy the other Adelburgers and RGA members in
Pennsylvania more time to complete their own respective tasks. Incidentally, it was through this act,
which allowed the French Canadian Adelburgers to worry less about having to contend with greater
numbers of Underground

Asian Athlete Stereotypes
In US sports, Asian or Asian American athletes are almost nonexistent, particularly in basketball,
football, and hockey. When they do appear, these athletes may be devalued, dismissed, and/or simply
go unnoticed and unconsidered. In a sports world dominated by Black and White, Asian athletes are
being denied roles due to their perceived abilities. According to The Jeremy Lin Effect: Being an
Asian Sport Psychology Consultant in a Black and White World , Alexander Brian Yu, Thomas
Nguyen, and Trent Petrie declare that Asian and Asian American athletes are being stereotyped which
decreases the opportunities they are given to participate in professional sports in the United States.
The article argues that although Asians, at least in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because individuals in sports who make the roster decisions have such high power they tend to
overlook, under respect, or devalue others because of those persons races and/or ethnicities. These are
subtle forms of racism that may not be known by anyone as a conscious action, but are created by
negative stereotypes. This presents itself in sports especially because of how big of a discrepancy there
is between the number of Asians and the amount of Whites and Blacks in professional sports in the
United States. I can agree with the point that stereotypes are decreasing the opportunities for Asians in
sports. Whether you want to deny it or not, Asians are not viewed as the primary choice for any
athletic event in the United States, and that is shown especially in the NBA where there is only one
Asian player on a roster, Jeremy Lin. Although I do want to point out that the discrepancy there is that
in the United States White and Black races make up a much larger part of the population than Asians
do; therefore, there is a statistically smaller chance for an Asian in the United States to have the talent
to play professional sports than a White or

  • 2. Legal Positivism Vs. Law Of Nature Legal Positivism v. the Law of Nature Legal philosophy has changed dramatically throughout the years; many theories have evolved and are still supported to this day. Concepts such as values, morality, desires, and reason all come into play when law is defined. Law is a very difficult word to define; what exactly is it and where does it come from? To understand the idea of law, one must also understand how humans have evolved. From the beginning, humans have been forming groups for survival; either they were frightened by animals or other tribes. As time went on, according to Thomas Hobbes, a government was created to protect humans from their own evil actions. Since humans, according to historic events, have always been brutal it would make sense a governing body was created to put an end to these acts of violent. The question, in reality, is whether the government put an end to violent acts based on ethical reasoning or was it created to promote survival within a larger society. This question brings forth the two legal theories of the Law of Nature and Legal Positivism which both will be discussed later on. Nevertheless, the sense of morality and a divine power was prominent in the past, there has been a change in the present time. We now have a government which creates laws based on current desires and enforce these laws without morality in mind. Morals have dictated the behaviors of different societies throughout time; the idea of morality has been tied alongside a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has been shown that one of the strongest effects of music on the brain is in the area of memory. A tempo of a steady rate of 60 beats per minute is shown to be ideal for positive effects on one s memory as it is proven that the silence between two musical notes triggers the brain cells and neurons, which are responsible for the development of sharp memory. Classical music fits into both of these criteria s, proving that it is the most beneficial music genre for improving one s intellectual ability. Research has also proven that classical music from the baroque period causes the heart beat and pulse rate to relax to the beat of the music. As the body becomes relaxed and alert, the mind is able to concentrate more easily. The Mozart effect is a phenomenon that states that when an individual listens to classical music, their intellectual and motor abilities increase and become more efficient. It has a profound effect on young children because their minds are still developing at a rapid rate and their neural pathways are easily influenced. The music composed by Mozart has a 60 beat per minute pattern that is repetitive throughout his pieces. This pattern activates the right and left hemispheres of the brain and it strengthens the

  • 5. Finelli s Bust Of St. Peters Basilica These three busts of women in the 1600s are exceptionally different than those before this time. Women portraits in the 1600s have obvious influence from these sculptors, but also lack the focus to detail and movement. Andrea Bolgi sculpted St. Helen which is housed in St. Peters. The sculpture has movement expressed through the drapery which is used by Bernini in a copious amount of his sculptures and Algardi used this in his bust of Olympia Maidalchini Pamphilj. Also in St. Peters Basilica, Francesco Mochi takes the same approach to his sculpture of St. Veronica. Finelli s bust is elegantly beautiful, but is not done natural. Finelli fails to focus on anything about his sitters face which leaves her looking like just another wealthy woman with no depth to her. Algardi adds detail to the face of his sitter, but instead of portraying at her best moment, takes a naturalistic approach which makes the portrait unflattering. Bernini added detail needed, but still managed to make the portrait look like the best version of the sitter. Although, this may represent the beauty of the sitter more than the skill of the artist. Bernini, Algardi, and Finelli are all infatuated with detail, this is what makes their portraits stand out from all of the others. These are some of the first portraits of woman sculpted, and it is fitting to the time that the focus on detail is used on accessories or sexuality. The artists focus on detail, but each to different parts of their works to create different qualities. Finelli has fine detail to accessories, and intrinsic drill work. • 6. Figurative Language In Caged Bird Poetry Essay of Caged Bird by Maya Angelou and I,Too by Langston Hughes The poems, Caged Bird by Maya Angelou, and I,Too by Langston Hughes, both show a theme of being unfairly treated and wanting to be normal and free. Both poems display similar themes and describe how this feels to be in these harsh situations. The vivid imagery and description in these poems allowed the reader to visualize a picture of the scene when reading these poems. There are many quotes in these poems that show the imagery used, such as these from Caged Bird, and the trade winds soft through the distant hills. But the caged bird stands on the grave of dreams. The caged bird makes the reader visualize a paradise of freedom for the free bird and a torcherous grave for the caged bird. I,Too had many similar quotes, they send me to eat in the kitchen, and I ll be at the table. This poem makes the reader visualize the family and table as the poem progresses. They both contain great imagery of anger and freedom. The poems also used figurative language to get the message across. Sex is a more scientific term that explains physical traits and sexual preferences. Gender carries a more social tone. A person s social status helps separate or classify the two sexes. br br Sex is the total sum of physical characteristics that distinguish males and females from each other. Years ago I could have said that if a person is a police officer, a soldier, a fireman, a politician, a lawyer, a doctor or any type of highly paid professional than that person must be a man. Back then this would have been a pretty good hypothesis. The father was the man of the house. The minister was always male and there was no such thing as women in sports. br br I could have probably also said that if a person was a secretary, a grade school teacher, a receptionist, a nurse, a maid, or a homemaker then that person must be a woman. People in the female group or gender worked lower paying less demanding jobs because It was believed that a woman could not handle the pressures that a man s job required. br br With the absence of the father figure in many American homes women have taken over as head of the house. Was it a slow extinction through natural causes, or did it happen suddenly? These questions give rise to many different beliefs on how the dinosaurs disappeared over sixty five million years ago. Something happened sixty five million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period that was so devastating that it altered the course of life on earth. It would have taken long for dinosaurs to become extinct. Dinosaurs may have also killed themselves. It is possible that they consumed poison from plants. The emergence of flowering plants could have poisoned them. These plants contained alkaloids. Smaller animals with lesser appetites could have survived the doses, but perhaps the dinosaur could not. Most mammals are smart enough to avoid these poison ness plants because of the bitter taste. The dinosaurs, however, may have not had the sense or the liver. Sound is vital to marine mammals communication and livelihood, so the disturbance of the sound in their habitat has varying effects. The impact of anthropogenic noise on marine mammals, specifically cetaceans, can be seen in various experiments and observations concerning the sounds produced by shipping, construction, and sonars. All of which reveal potential and consequential behavioral and physiological effects, which include acoustic masking, change in foraging behavior, and mass strandings. It is important that we continue to research known harmful anthropogenic sounds and their effects on cetaceans to limit further damage, and to research other sources of noise due to humans and their potential effects to prevent future harm. Through research, it is shown that various noise pollution caused by humans can have detrimental effects on cetaceans such as harbor porpoises, bottlenose dolphins, killer whales, and Cuvier s beaked whales. Shipping, windfarm construction, and sonar can cause temporary or permanent hearing threshold changes, which can result in decreased foraging ability and communication ability. Shipping has been seen to decrease foraging time and cause acoustic masking. Sonar can cause death due to strandings and lesions. These all add up to show that, overall, noise pollution by humans has a serious effect on the quality of life for cetaceans. It is also important to recognize that absence of a detected reaction does not mean that there is no impact on these cetaceans. It is possible that noise pollution can cause physiological and psychological responses without any external symptoms we can detect. It may be important to develop methods to observe these more subtle reactions to noise pollution that may impact cetacean s way of life. It is important that humans realize the full extent of their effect on marine life and create measures to prevent more harm. They also believe voter identification laws are vitally essential to discourage voter fraud and to strengthen public trust in the electoral system (Gerken 40). Looking closer at both sides of this continuing controversy will help to clarify each sides claims and reveal any misinformation. Democrats, who almost unanimously oppose voter identification laws, strongly feel that minority groups of voters, who tend to vote Democratic, are more likely to not have the resources, knowledge, or means to have or obtain the necessary identification requirements for the polls. In a research project developed by Matt A. Barreto, Stephen A. Nuño, and Gabriel R. Gender Roles And Roles Of Women s Career Advancement According to Feistritzer s research (as cited in Bynum, 2015), there has been a disproportionate representation of women in education at the highest positions of education leadership , especially in comparison to the number who begin their careers as teachers. Although the number of women in management and administrative positions has increased, the majority of senior positions are still held by men. The lack of women role models in academic departments and barriers women face in acquiring leadership roles can be contributed to male oriented organizational expectations. Research has shown that mentoring can significantly enhance the salary and promotion possibilities for women experiencing these types of situations. In academia, mentoring awareness can reduce barriers to women s career advancement, tenure and pay (Cullen Luna, 1993). Growing technologies are able to handle the data management and analyzing problems. Big Data, is a modern technology which can handle such large data, analyze it and can get better results. Long before the term big data emerged, Europe already had a pioneer in the field Alan Turing, the British mathematician who broke Nazi Germany s Enigma code and is widely viewed as the father of modern computing and algorithms. (Blau, 2015). This increased the demand for data scientists across Europe. The larger the volumes of data the greater the complexity of data and analyzing of data. Getting high varieties and volumes of data at greater velocities is the advantage of using Big data.(H. Davenport, 2014). For example, the article A General Overview of Conceptual Change Research says, It is important to understand that those who are involved in the conceptual change research domain are concerned about much more than simply altering a particular belief. After doing RAK s for an experiment, I began to notice that these RAK s were becoming more of a natural routine, not something that I was purposely doing for data. With this becoming a habit, I have helped create a positive atmosphere at Galion s track and field. For instance, on April 4, I was cheering on Marisa as she high jumped. The Concept Of Capacity And Capacity Utilization 1.2 The concept of capacity and capacity utilization Capacity is very important but least understood concept in manufacturing and business world (Klammer,1996). Different categories of people in business and manufacturing measure capacity differently. For example, some financial managers might measure plant capacity in terms of the equipment installed in the plant while operational supervisors might measure capacity in terms of worker efficiency. Klein Summers ,(1996) defined an organization s productive capacity as the total level of output or production that it could produce in a given time period . My CT, has to have her lesson plan turned in and approved at least 2 weeks prior to the lesson. There is no room for error, let alone the students not understanding any lesson. If a lesson is taught on a Monday, the classroom will be moving on to the next lesson on Tuesday, regardless if the students understand the lesson or not. There is also no differentiation in the classroom. All of the students are given the same materials, lessons and the same amount of help. There are students with IEP s and students with their English at basic proficiency levels. The only time that instruction is differentiated is when one specific student struggles with ... The students should be instructed to use scaffolding and the teacher should be able to gage when the students are starting to understand the information and send the individuals to their seats as she sees fit. When it comes to differentiated instruction, there is none. When it comes to the student whose L1 is not English, she is stuck guessing on many of their assessments. Many times, the language of the test is content specific academic language, which is much more difficult for the individual to understand. This could easily be adjusted by, making sure the student is taught the specific language throughout the lesson and unit. Another course of action would be to differentiate the assessment by adjusting the language so that the L2 is comprehensible to the student. Language Allocation in Classroom Within the Spanish speaking community at this charter school, there is little to no L1 used during the school day. The students instruction does now allow for the individuals L1 to be used. Occasionally, when the students are not having a silent lunch or when they are given recess, there will be murmurs in the students L1. Aside from the occasional conversations during recess or lunch time, the students do not speak in their native language at school. The teacher does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. John Anthony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange A relatively unknown author at the beginning of his writing career, John Anthony Burgess Wilson, better known under his pen name by just Anthony Burgess, would become a prominent author towards the end of his life. Burgess has allowed many to scrutinize his novels, ranging from his three colonial novels at the beginning of his writing career, Time for a Tiger, The Enemy in the Blanket, and Beds in the East to his most well known novel, A Clockwork Orange (The International Anthony Burgess Foundation). Burgess s dystopian classic continues to provoke deeper thinking, yet also startle those today. Many believe that Burgess is a remarkable author due to his stunning portrayal of extreme youth violence in his novel A Clockwork Orange. From a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A couple of years after his father remarried, Burgess would begin writing his earliest published poems and short stories. Similar to many children today, Burgess despised his stepmother, declaring how she subscribed to all the current bigotries. The relationship between father and son was not the ideal relationship either, his father, to an extent, still blamed him for his mother s death. Burgess did not only lose his mother, but he would lose his father as well, gaining a mostly absent drunk who called himself a father (Burgess). Before Burgess could even speak, he lost his mother, and the affection of his father. Burgess was schooled at St. Edmund s Elementary School before moving to Bishop Bilsborrow Memorial Elementary school, both Catholic schools in Moss Side. As a child, he be largely isolated from others his age, due to being either persecuted because of his wealthier appearance, or ignored by all (Burgess). As a result of Burgess s impressive grades, he would be given a place in Xaverian College. This would be where he would stay to complete his School Certificate examinations. Burgess s first published poems would appear in the school magazine, named The Manchester Xaverian, under the name John Burgess Wilson. Although uninterested in music as a child, Burgess would find his passion after listening to a flute solo in which he described as sinuous, exotic, and erotic. Music was not taught at ... • 43. How Can Rubbish Protect Australian Marine Life research Journal Australian Marine Life Script: Introduction Throughout Australian s seas lurks a silent killer. In Australia, rubbish is getting worse with plastic pollution, it is not only heavily used beaches that get affected with so much rubbish floating in the water but everywhere else in the world. The predator is plastic and it s floating in our ocean and it is coming from the coast. This constant barrier (the equivalent of 136 billion milk jugs each year, estimates a study published in the journal Science) poses a serious danger to marine life. Animals can get tangled up in this trash or consume it either because the animals mistake it as prey or because the plastic has been broken down into tiny particles by seawater. Research has shown that there is 5.25 trillion pieces of rubbish floating in the ocean and all that pollution is coming from the shore. • 44. Should Graffiti Be Considered Art Research Paper Should Graffiti Be Considered Art? Graffiti has long been a controversial topic, is it art or is it vandalism? Most people would consider graffiti to be vandalism but I think that it is so much more. It is a way for people to express their ideas, graffiti isn t vandalism in certain areas, and graffiti is a very unique form of art. Graffiti is becoming more accepted as a form of art by many and even though these painters put lots of time and care into their works of art they are still labeled as vandals. Graffiti is a way for people to express their ideas and their opinions on events happening in the world. When many people see graffiti all they think is that the people who did it wanted to vandalize the area, in many cases that is not true ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. RGAAnd Adelburger Case Study Thankfully, most of the RGA and Adelburger holdings within the Greater American Catholic School System and the countless numbers of Dweller cities in the Coalition were still under their immediate sphere of influence. Although the number of Catholic schools, Catholic high schools and Dweller cities lost to their rivals continued growing steadily, the number remained minimal. In addition, a couple of RGA and Adelburger crews and groups trained to operate behind the front acted as stay behind cells, disrupting the other factions communications, chain of logistics, sabotaging captured assets, subverting and demoralizing them. This included some of the more elite of RGA groups, such as the Nightingales and Plaid Circle. For schools possessing a large population of Volksryanischen and Ryanites, especially in Catholic schools, high schools and colleges, these stay behind cells formed the backbone of several partisan resistance groups bearing the Volksbesatzung designation, training and advising them in resisting the hostile influences of the other factions. • 46. Asian Athlete Stereotypes In US sports, Asian or Asian American athletes are almost nonexistent, particularly in basketball, football, and hockey. When they do appear, these athletes may be devalued, dismissed, and/or simply go unnoticed and unconsidered. In a sports world dominated by Black and White, Asian athletes are being denied roles due to their perceived abilities. According to The Jeremy Lin Effect: Being an Asian Sport Psychology Consultant in a Black and White World , Alexander Brian Yu, Thomas Nguyen, and Trent Petrie declare that Asian and Asian American athletes are being stereotyped which decreases the opportunities they are given to participate in professional sports in the United States. The article argues that although Asians, at least in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because individuals in sports who make the roster decisions have such high power they tend to overlook, under respect, or devalue others because of those persons races and/or ethnicities. These are subtle forms of racism that may not be known by anyone as a conscious action, but are created by negative stereotypes. This presents itself in sports especially because of how big of a discrepancy there is between the number of Asians and the amount of Whites and Blacks in professional sports in the United States. I can agree with the point that stereotypes are decreasing the opportunities for Asians in sports. Whether you want to deny it or not, Asians are not viewed as the primary choice for any athletic event in the United States, and that is shown especially in the NBA where there is only one Asian player on a roster, Jeremy Lin. Although I do want to point out that the discrepancy there is that in the United States White and Black races make up a much larger part of the population than Asians do; therefore, there is a statistically smaller chance for an Asian in the United States to have the talent to play professional sports than a White or ...
