`` Nature `` By Ralph Waldo Emerson
Nature is an essay written by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and published by James Munroe and Company
in 1836. [1] Nature has a total of 41 pages. The essay consists of eight parts: Nature, Commodity,
Beauty, Language, Discipline, Idealism, Spirit and Prospects. Each part takes a different perspective
on the relationship between humans and nature. In this essay, Emerson emphasizes the foundation of
transcendentalism, a religious and philosophical movement that developed during the late 1820s and
30s in the Eastern region of the United States as protest against the general state of spirituality and, in
particular, the state of intellectualism. [2] Transcendentalism suggests that the divine, or God, suffuses
nature, and suggests that reality can be understood by studying nature. [3] Transcendentalism is
closely related to Unitarianism, the dominant religious movement in Boston at the early nineteenth
century. Transcendentalism evolved as an organic consequence of the Unitarian emphasis on free
conscience and the value of intellectual reason. [4] Emerson divides nature into four stages:
commodity, beauty, language, and discipline. These define the ways by which humans use nature for
their basic needs. The historical significance of Nature was that transcendentalism club led the
celebration of the American experiment as one of the individualism and self reliance. [5]
Emerson s purpose in the essay Nature is to lay out and attempt to solve an abstract problem: that

Comparing Upton Sinclair s The Jungle And Capitalism
The major issues Sinclair addressed in The Jungle are Capitalism. The explosive growth of American
industry in the late nineteenth century caused a similar expansion in the work force. Working
conditions in the new urban industrial zones were wretched, and a progressive reform movement soon
grew out of the need to address the health and welfare of the American worker. In 1905, Upton
Sinclair (1878 1968), a young socialist journalist and novelist, received a $500 advance to write a
novel about abuses in the meat processing industry and spent seven weeks investigating the subject in
Chicago. His novel, The Jungle (1906), shows the unsanitary and dangerous conditions in the plants,
was an immediate best seller and incited President Roosevelt to

Causes Of The Obstacles In The Odyssey
Everyone faces struggles at some point in their life, no matter if you are a hero from an old mythical
story or a modern day person living in Iowa. Even though the struggles faced by Odysseus and me are
different, they have a common overlapping theme that ties them together. Which causes them in turn
to be in fact very comparable. Both Odysseus and I face obstacles such as temptation, laziness, and
distraction. Although his obstacles come from his want to go back home to Ithaca, mine are from my
desire to live a happy and healthy lifestyle.
Temptation, sin or not? Depending on who you ask it may or may not be. Temptation can come in any
form. It sidetracks people from whatever their individual goal is and draws them to do something that
isn t the best for them. Odysseus and I both face temptation in different ways. For him it is his struggle
against the sirens. Mythical mermaid like creatures that sing to him with enchantments calling him to
his death against his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is one of the most underrated troubles. For it causes many issues in the world, though the blame
always seems to fall upon some other reason of cause. Laziness causes people to not want to fulfill
their wildest dreams to refusing to do necessary duties. On the island of the lotus eaters, Odysseus
faces laziness at its most extreme. The lotus flowers cause people to magically lose their longing for
home. Sailors don t have much control over their laziness, for it was forced upon them by way of
magic lotus flowers from the natives. My troubles with laziness come from giving up because
something is too hard , when really I just am being lazy. It causes me to not work as hard as I should
to achieve my goal of having a happy and healthy lifestyle. Laziness in Odysseus story and mine are
similar because we both lose the lust for our goal. Luckily we can both overcome laziness with hard
work and determination, even if Pandora releases it from the box

Challenger Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Well known president, Ronald Reagan, in his address to the nation, Explosion of the Space Shuttle
Challenger, expresses grief for the explosion of the Challenger. Reagan s purpose is to commemorate
the seven men and women, who lost their lives and offer hope to those who will continue to explore
space. He creates a sad, yet hopeful tone in order to convey to America, we all mourn the loss of the
Challenger Seven, but our space program will continue. Reagan begins his address to the nation by
stating he postponed his State of the Union address to pay tribute to the Challenger Seven. He also
appeals to the audiences pathos by stating he and his wife, Nancy, are pained to the core by this
horrific tragedy. By stating this he appeals to the audience s sorrowful emotions. He also declares
today is a day for mourning and remembering and this is truly a national tragedy, which delves deeper
into the audience s sorrowful emotions. He, then, joins the nation in mourning this loss, to further
unify the nation, and meekly admits that we share this pain with all of the ... Show more content on

He justifies the importance of the space program by stating, It s hard to dazzle us. But for the past 25
years the United States space program has been doing just that. The space program is justified by that
statement because it shows the space program has helped the U.S. learn so much more about, not only
the world we live in, but the universe we live in. He goes onto state we ve only just begun. This also
justifies the space program by showing, if we ve already learned this much already, there s no limit to
what we can learn. He then establishes logos by calling the Challenger Seven pioneers and space is
still a frontier waiting to be explored. This also shows the crew knew the risk, and their sacrifice is still
important, and we should commemorate them by continuing space

An Experiential Approach For Organization Development
As I reflected on the course studies and what I have learned in taking this course. I came to a
conclusion that a lot of the information from the chapters will come very useful to my personal and
professional life. I decided to summarize on some of the concepts that I learned in the chapters in the
book An experiential approach to organization development . The concepts or theories that caught my
attention that I felt that I can relate to are the model of organizational development, changing the
culture, overcoming the resistance to change, goal setting theory and employee empowerment. All of
the chapters in the book can be incorporated into my professional life, and I feel that any organization
will benefit from reading this book. Model for organizational development is a continuing process of
long term organizational improvement that consists of several stages this model emphasizes on a
combination of individual, team and organizational relationships. The first phase is anticipated need
for change which states that before a change can be done there has to be a need. The manager of the
organization must feel that there is a need to change and he must adopt new ways for a change to be
productive. The second stage is developing the practitioner client relationship which means that after
the group has identified a need for change the organizational development practitioner enters the
system and a relationship begins to grow between the practitioner and the client system.

Description Of Wendouree Beach
Wendouree Beach Guys! Grab your togs, sunnies, towels and frisbees. We re all going to the beach!
Thats right, Ballarat may be getting its very own Beach around Lake Wendouree this summer. The
welcome news has come about after the City of Ballarat s Council revealed a proposal to build a pop
up beach near the eastern side of Lake Wendouree. Ballarat Councillor Samantha Mclntosh is hoping
that the attraction will encourage residents to remain in the city over the scorching summer months. As
many locals travel to the coastal parts of Victoria or even further to be refreshed in the beautiful, blue
ocean. One of the goals is attracting people to Ballarat and retaining the people that are already here.
commented Councillor Mclntosh. The miniature beach is only just one of several pop up installments
currently in the works that will revealed in the upcoming weeks. Including the return of last years
extremely popular Ferris wheel , further tantalizing the locals and tourists to swing on down and check

Case Study Strauder V Allsright Essay
Personal Property Case Study
The case study Parking Lot s Liability is an actual court case, Allright, Inc. v. Strauder. Plaintiff
brought suit alleging that as a result of defendant s negligence, his automobile was stolen from a
parking lot operated by defendant. Signs were located throughout the parking lot which stated that the
lot closed at 6 o clock p.m. and that anyone returning after that time could pick up their keys at
another parking lot operated by the defendant at a another location. He was aware of the time when he
left the car at the station and that the signs and the claim ticket said the lot closed at 6 o clock. So
indeed a bailment was created. The definition of bailment is a transaction in which an owner ... Show

Once the purpose of the bailment has been completed, the bailee usually must return the property to
the bailor, or account for it, depending upon the terms of the contract. Legal liability usually takes the
form of monetary damages to compensate for the breach of the legal duty. A requisite to the creation
of a bailment is the express or implied acceptance of possession or control over the property by the
bailee. A person cannot unwittingly become a bailee. Because a bailment is a contract, knowledge and
acceptance of its terms are essential to its enforcement. (Cheeseman, 2010) Had the parking garage
been closed when the plaintiff left his car, there would be no bailment created. Lost, mislaid, and
abandoned property is categories of the common law of property which deals with personal property
which has left the possession of its rightful owner without having entered the possession of another
person. Property can be considered lost, mislaid or abandoned. Property is generally deemed to have
been lost if it is found in a place where the true owner likely did not intend to set it down, and where it
is not likely to be found by the true owner. Property has been mislaid or misplaced if it is found in a
place where the true owner likely did intend to set it, but then simply forgot. If property has been
abandoned, it is found in a place where the owner likely intended to leave it, but is in such a condition

Florida Divorce Case Study
47487 Determining Dependency: What Florida Courts Consider During Divorce Cases
Divorce hurts wives and husbands. Grieving the dreams of what could have been and hashing out the
reality of what is cuts deep. While divorce impacts all parties involved, Florida courts strive to protect
those caught in the middle the children. This noble position can be muddied by various factors, but
Florida law works to make solutions to custody issues clear.
DEPENDENCY DETERMINATION
Dependency in Florida divorce cases is awarded to the parent with whom the child resides most of the
time. This measure considers the number of nights a child lives with each parent throughout the year.

be considered in determining dependency:
Health and Safety
The basic rights to a healthy, safe home for children of divorce are protected in Florida courts.
Alterations to the shared parental responsibility stance occur when evidence of potential or real harm
to the child exists. Domestic or sexual violence, child abuse, abandonment or neglect fall within this
category. Plus, diminished parental mental or physical health, or substance abuse in the home effect
dependency determinations.

A GSM Base Device
1 Problem Statement
A GSM base device creates severe interference with a wireless infrastructure. It can be used to activate
any explosive device in an indoor environment. Moreover, a GSM signal is also very likely to
interfere with wireless network, employed by emergency and/or confidential departments.
2 Aims Objectives
The motive of this paper is to propose a novel band stop Frequency Selective Surface (FSS). The
proposed FSS provides security to wireless networks used by sensitive areas. It also provides security
to explosive devices by blocking both GSM 900 and GSM 1800 frequency bands.
A ringing cell phone can be very irritating in places of adoration, classrooms, and hospitals.
Trans European Trunked Radio GSM (TETRA GSM) is a bidirectional communication technology
informally known to Walkie Talkie. This well known technology used by emergency amenities, armed
forces, law enforcement and other government agencies.
Moreover, a mobile phone signal can be used to explode an ammunition lorry, an incendiary bomb or
any other explosive device, in an indoor environment or other extremely sensitive areas. Many of
these areas usually use jammers and other variants of reflectors to reflect and/or block GSM signal.
However, these reflectors have limitation in sense that they disturb other type of wireless
communication too. Therefore, there is a need to design an innovative reflector which can block only
desired signals.

Blue Winds Dancing By Tom Whitecloud
Search for Self in Blue Winds Dancing
Blue Winds Dancing by author Tom Whitecloud, is narrated by the story s unnamed main character.
The young Indian man s persona is brought to life through his own recollection and spoken words. We
recognize the turmoil this character faces as he is away from his people, attending college in White
man s society. He doubts his place in either world, believes he must choose between them, and
realizes finally that being an Indian is only one part of who he is. Through his thoughts, actions and
words we gain understanding of this character s attitudes of confusion and inferiority in his struggle to
define his niche in society.
The character s feelings of not belonging are represented in his ... Show more content on

It seems as though I were among people I have never seen before (122) are his words as he enters the
lodge where they have gathered to celebrate Christmas.
The character shows definite signs of bitterness toward White men and their attitude of superiority. He
scoffs at the organization of their society and calls it a beauty of captivity (119). A mere existence
where freedom and individuality have given way to a life of dictated regulation. Here where all the
orange trees line in military rows, and endlessly bear fruit (119). The young man does not want to be
another orange tree whose life is decided by the conforming ways of their society, dancing to the
strings of custom and tradition (119).
What then is he striving for? He tells us of the beauty and calm of his homeland, and how much he
desires to be back among his people and the simplicity and freedom of their lifestyle, but he is also
angry that his people are forced to live such a menial existence. I feel suddenly angry that my people
should have to do such things for a living (120). This is what is at the core of his struggle, the
supposition that he has to choose between living as an inferior Indian with their freedoms, or parallel
the rigid, dictated life that he feels the white men live. It is the reason he feels alone among the pines.
It is after talking to some hobos and bums on the train that that the young man starts to realize what
his sociology professor was trying to tell

foreign born outsiders, who can never fully realize a permanency of equal status as citizens (Ng 9),
and as model citizens: the complexity and mobility of Asian American racialization goes beyond a
simple hierarchy with Whites on the highest level, Black people on the lowest, and other groups in
between (Kim 109).
Rather, we must consider race as a field of racial positions, which acknowledge superiority/inferiority
and insider/foreigner racializations, from which we can observe how Asian Americans continue to be
viewed as interlopers in a Black/White racial discourse through the intertwined processes of relative
valorization (Whites valorizing Asian Americans relative to Black people) and civic ostracism (Whites

When comparing the performance of Asian American participants on a mathematical examination
after having been positively stereotyped and without having been positively stereotyped, it was found
that the performance [on the test] was significantly lower in the ethnicity condition than in the control
condition (Cheryan 400). In the ethnicity salient condition, participants reported that they had
experienced significantly poorer ability to concentrate during the math task than did participants in the
control condition (444). Therefore, positive stereotypes, in the form of salient social expectations, can
place a considerable burden on stereotyped Asian Americans, adversely affecting their performance in
the stereotyped domain (401). That is, while Asian Americans can be characterized as a high achieving
model minority, this characterization can lead to agitation, distraction, and lower self confidence,
which ultimately contributes to poorer academic performance. The study elucidates the mechanisms
behind Asian American negative reactions to positive stereotypes: failing to meet high expectations
and the possibility that one s poor performance may threaten the reputation of one s group engenders
stifling performance pressures when positive Asian stereotypes are initiated. As a result, positive

Connotation Of 12 Angry Men
When analyzing the film, 12 Angry Men, one will notice the reasoning is not consumed by the story,
but by the characters and their involvement and interaction. In a brief summary of the film, it contains
twelve jurors who are all participating in a trial. The trial is concerning a young adolescent who is
being appointed for the death of his father. Credit the power of this lucid study to the fact that the
attributes, failings, passions and prejudices of these tales men is as striking and important as the
awesome truth that they hold a boy s life in their hands (Weiler). Through out the story, $#$#3$#$# s
personalities and qualities are shown, each having their own opinion of the plea bargain. Identified in
detail through this analysis, one will be able to clearly depict the different characterization of the
jurors. Along with their individual personas, all of the juryman fall under the category of either being
Socratic or a sophist in Aristocratic terms. When looking at the arguments among the jurors one can
see the different logical styles utilized, and which were effect versus the not effective approaches.
Progressively through the movie, the argument grows and each juror becoming their own. When
criticizing and evaluating the content of 12 Angry Men, the real meaning behind the story becomes

The Sudanese Dispute after the Split
Less than a year after Sudan divided into new Republic of South Sudan and the new Republic of

community to put an end to this prolong conflict by assisting, negotiating and signing of the
Comprehensive Peace Agreement CPA in 2005 and the other effort to guarantee the downy division of
the South and North come in to view to become naught. According to CPA referendum in January

Big Dig Research Paper
The Central Artery/Tunnel Project, also known as the Big Dig, is one of the most expensive,
technically challenging, and largest public projects in American history. The Big Dig was a super
project that was created to reroute the Central Artery of Interstate 93, the main roadway through the
core of the city, into the 1.5 mile Thomas P. O Neill Jr. Tunnel. The construction of the Big Dig
untangled the co mingled traffic in Boston, Massachusetts and resulted in a 62% decrease in vehicle

The highway planning of the Big Dig started in 1982 with the actual construction starting in 1991. The
Big Dig was initially planned to be finalized in 1998 with the estimated total cost of 2.8 billion (7.8

Today, alcohol is the most commonly used addictive substance in the United States (NCADD Staff,

this mass issue, several self help programs has evolved. Perhaps the most well known and most

(Rehab4alcoholism Staff, 2017). Moreover, because the program emphasizes the reliance on a higher
power it can cause individuals to believe they are powerless to change without the higher power
(Rehab4alcoholism Staff, 2017). Next, the anonymity of AA has led some member to abuse other
members (Rehab4alcoholism Staff, 2017). Since members are subjected to a policy to protects people

this issue has caused the program to eliminate the thirteenth step of the program: sponsoring

Hence, the members are not truly willing to recover. Thus, prohibiting the growth of the other

Since the program is community based, participants are surrounded by those who may also be

Gas Prices Persuasive Speech
Have you ever woken up late for something important, rushed to shower, swiftly brushed your teeth,

quickly, but still abiding by the speed limit, drive to the gas station, grab some money out of your

There s an increase in attention to gas prices when they re higher or lower than usual because that
directly concerns them as a consumer. Even when gas prices are higher, consumers keep paying
because there s not really an alternative out there besides buying a new environmentally friendly car.
However, there s currently a much deeper problem in the United States related to gas prices. Today, in

education and entertainment. With this financier and developer of the program, Jeff Hammond brings
together a team of scientists, a lawyer and two of his grandchildren on an adventure to experience the
park first hand. However, due to a series of unfortunate events the parks loses functionality resulting
in their team having to physical experience survival during the time of the dinosaur. While half of the
team fights to stay alive the developer his group of survivors must find a way to rescue the visitors and
get back in control of the park. I found the movie to be more entertaining than educational. It was
more for the purposes of telling a story, which I believe was about the power that genetics has brought
humans. The story seems to warn against going too far with the use of genetic information. This, in my
opinion, is greatly exemplified by one of the last scenes in the movie.

Revolution In Xinjiang, Chechnya, And Quebec
Revolution is a common part of life, from the relatively simple revolution of changing your individual
life, to a nation becoming severing the ties that bind it to its past. Xinjiang, Chechnya, and Quebec are
all areas that have experienced revolution on a massive scale. However, not all of them followed the
same ideal of revolution. First, in Xinjiang, the revolution was brought about by the heavy influx of
Han Chinese into the Uighurs territory. This caused them to feel marginalized politically, and also
made them feel as if their very culture and independence were being threatened. The Uighurs reacted
to these feelings by going down a violent path, rioting and fighting for what they perceive to be
incursions on their rights. Now, even 50 years later, there is still conflict in the region, with the
Chinese Army having to quell a riot just as recently as 2009. Next, in Chechnya, following along the
same lines of political conflicts as Xinjiang, just with a dose of economic and cultural for good
measure, the revolution was brought about by the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. After the fall of
the USSR and Russia losing its status as a world superpower, Chechnya tried to abandon ship, so to

Though the beginning of the separatist movement was marred by fighting and violence, the vast
majority of the conflict has been a political one. The reason for the revolution in Quebec stems from
the restrictions placed upon the populace by the English. These restrictions were on both the language
and culture of the Quebecois, and caused them to feel trapped in under the English rule, for lack of a
better term. This revolution is on a much less certain foot than the others however, with many of the
younger citizens not remember the restrictions of days

Invisalign Sunday, December 8, 2013 Abstract Invisalign was founded in 1997 by two graduate

braces aesthetically pleasing and nearly invisible. They were able to secure initial funding, set their
sights on their target market and worked to build relationships and train approximately 75% of all US

keep their venture capitalists happy was by going strait to consumers. When they didn t see things
progressing like they hoped, Prescott states, In the very early days, those same founders were
frustrated because they were not having success with the doctors or gaining any meaningful adoption.
So they decided to go right around the doctors to the consumers. They spent a lot of money early on. A
lot of that money was wasted... A lot of the effort and investment turned into demand for conventional

What Are The Effects Of The Cold War In The 1940s
At the heart of the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union in the 1940s was a
fundamental difference in the ways the great powers envisioned the postwar world. After World War II
countries were in chaos, no one was able to agree on what should happen to the postwar world. While
the Soviet Union and the United States were allies during the world wars, they were the one with the
biggest issues during the aftermath of the war and their issues ended up becoming what we now know
as the Cold War. Many issues led up to this war and to this day we still suffer from the war and the
American people still fear communism.
To begin with, both the United States and the Soviet Union had their own beliefs about what would
benefit our world during the postwar period. After World War II, both Russia and the United States
competed to be the greatest world power, When two sides competed for influence and power in this
way, the Cold War began. The United States and the Soviet Union were both great world powers who

Introduction: The educational challenges endured by the Ukrainian government and its citizens is a
suitable option for the final comparison paper against Finland. Ukraine shares a longstanding history
with Russia having only attained independence in 1991, and aimed to cultivate a relationship with
Western Europe, particularly the European Union (EU). Discouragingly, twenty six years after
independence Ukraine wrestles with a depleted economy inherited from former and first President

One of Russia s most well known acts of aggression against Ukraine was the annexation of Crimea.
With evidence that Russia is attempting to expand its influence, how will this affect Ukraine s
sovereignty and most importantly its policies? (The Atlantic 2014). Above all, it will be interesting to
dissect how this affects education policies. In spite of pressure from Russia, in 2014 Ukrainian
policymakers passed a legislation that empowered universities with more autonomy with their
curriculum, finances and hiring practices. Before its passage, the government was overly involved in
the design and implementation of education programs which inhibited faculty research endeavors
(Freedom House 2016).
The Electoral System Ukraine s next presidential and parliamentary election is scheduled for 2019. A
mixed election system is utilized to elect the 450 legislative seats. 225 members of parliament are
elected through first past the post voting (FPTP) with a five percent threshold from single member
districts and the other 225 are selected from a closed list through proportional representation. In order
for a party to be successful they must acquire a minimum of 5 percent of the votes. On Election Day,
Ukrainians cast two ballots, a ballot in support of their local representative and political party
(Freedom House 2016). More so than other parliamentary systems coalitions are imperative for
victory. One of the most notable aspects on the 2014

Is Art Worth The Cost Of Education
Attending a university to study art is not the only way to learn the skills necessary to become an artist.
The sheer cost alone of university is enough to deem the degree unworthy of such a price. Individual
art books, technical skill experiences, and art shows can sum less than that cost. For each person to
determine the true cost of something, he or she must deem what they are paying for necessary. In
terms of education, with the sheer amount of money spent, the importance of making sure the degree
will be worth the cost is essential. This dissatisfaction could likely come from issues there are in other
universities. In an article about the return on investment of degree programs, 34% [of students] now

Pros And Cons Of School Blocking Students
Professor Sam Wineburg of Stanford University adamantly opposes the practice of schools blocking
students from certain websites and databases such as Wikipedia, Twitter, and Instagram. Dr. Wineburg
suggests that if students only have access to information chosen and filtered by the institution, their
ability to choose what to believe, and how to think will not develop. If students do not have access to
sites such as Wikipedia, once they are able to browse freely, they will be unable to tell what is reliable.
By imposing these restrictions, schools are failing to allow students to think freely. More importantly,
they are depriving students of furthering their intelligence by choosing themselves what information is
valid and what is not. These constraints essentially tell students what to believe; therefore, once they
go beyond classroom doors and browse freely, they will be incapable of finding sources on their own.
Furthermore, blocking sites only worsens the spread of fake news, since students believe everything
they read. I agree with Dr. Wineburg in that schools should not block certain websites. Blocking
students from sources or only allowing certain online databases not only limits students ability to
expand their knowledge, but harms their free thinking and forces them to believe the information
placed in front of them, ultimately contributing to students spreading fake news.
Dr. Wineburg s opposition to schools blocking students from unvetted websites is backed by

Basic Financial Concepts and Pinkerton
Executive Summary. Wathen is attempting to value the proposed acquisition of Pinkerton in an effort
to determine whether bids of $85 million to $100 million is value enhancing for CPP s shareholders.
Additionally, Wathen must choose between two financing options: (1) raising $100 Million via a $75
million debt structure at 11.5% interest rate together with a $25 million equity investment for a 45%
stake in the combined company and (2) a $100 million debt facility at 13.5% interest rate. General
Assumption. We assumed that Wackenhut is comparable to Pinkerton, and therefore that Wackenhut s
asset beta reflects that of Pinkerton. Additionally, we assumed that Pinkerton s bond rating is A. As
such, we assumed a debt service ratio for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the synergies expected, the value to CPP increases by $14.6 Million (see exhibit 4). Generally
for the particular small firms to maintain rating of A, the firms have to maintain a debt service ratio of
6. Hence it is practical to assume interest coverage ratio of 6.0x in the long term for Pinkerton in this
case. Pinkerton gets benefit from 34% tax shield, which account for the value of $15.4 Million (see
exhibit 5). Therefore, as calculated in exhibit 6, the total value of Pinkerton from 3 sources to CPP in
expected case is $119.7 Million. This is higher than the $100 million asking price. Financing: Free
cash flow after debt service is still positive in both options. For the value to existing shareholder, as
option 1 CPP gives premium of $15.2 Million over $25 Million for 45% stake of CPP to investors,
option 2 of $100 Million Debt would be more preferable. Pessimistic Case Valuation: We then
perform the valuation exactly the same method as expected case. The value of Pinkerton with less
gross margin and more working capital needed is $67.1 Million (See exhibit 9 for 5 years valuation
and exhibit 10 for terminal value). With lower performance, the value of 34% tax shield is also lower
to $10.8 Million (see exhibit 12). Without any additional incremental value to CPP (exhibit 11), total
Pinkerton value from 3 sources is $77.9 Million (exhibit 13), which is even less than the original
proposed value of $85 Million from Wathen. Financing:

Essay On Anger
The effects of anger on health have more to do with duration than frequency and intensity. The normal
experience of overt anger lasts only a few minutes. But the subtle forms of anger, such as resentment,
impatience, irritability, grouchiness, etc., can go on for hours and days at a time. Consistent, prolonged
levels of anger give a person a five times greater chance of dying before age 50. Anger elevates blood
pressure, increases threat of stroke, heart disease, cancer, depression, anxiety disorders, and, in
general, depresses the immune system (angry people have lots of little aches and pains or get a lot of
colds and bouts of flu or headaches or upset stomachs). To make matters worse, angry people tend to

You have an anger problem if some subtle form of anger that you may not even be aware of makes
you do what is not in your best interest or keeps you from performing at your highest potential. This
could mean something subtle, like putting a chilly wall between you and others or a continual
impatience or low frustration tolerance that interferes with problem solving and performance
competence.
Whatever the form of anger, in persistence you run the risk of becoming a reactaholic, with your
thoughts, feelings, and behavior totally controlled by whoever or whatever you re reacting to. The
more reactive you are, the more powerless you feel; anger is ultimately a cry of powerlessness.
Self Compassion and Compassion for Others
Mastery of the three steps of self compassion and compassion for others makes us virtually immune to
the ill effects of anger. The first step of self compassion is seeing beneath the symptom or defense
(anger, anxiety, manipulation, obnoxious behavior) to the cause, which is some form of core hurt
(feeling unimportant, disregarded, accused, devalued, guilty, untrustworthy, rejected, powerless,
unlovable). Second, the core hurt must be validated (this is how I feel at this moment), and, third,
changed (this behavior or event or disappointment or mistake does not mean that I m unimportant, not
valuable or lovable.) Compassion for others is recognizing that their symptoms, defenses, and
obnoxious behavior come from a core hurt,

Because of nitrous oxide s stability, it is not metabolized. Once the inhalation is cut off, it is

In the case of medical care, nitrous oxygen mixed with oxygen prevents pain. Some side effects

Pictures Don amp;#8217;t Always Paint a Thousand Words
John Berger makes a bold statement in saying amp;#8220; No other relic or text from the past can
offer such a direct testimony about the world which surrounded other people at other times. In this
respect images are more precise and richer than literature, ; (Ways of Reading, 106). This statement is
very untrue. Literature has been the focal point of all modern learning.. Literature lets the reader feel
what the author is thinking, not just see it as you would in a painting. This can be proven after reading

There was a lot of harmonic tension between musicians they couldn t stay on key. The timbre was

Zen Buddhism
Zen Buddhism emphasizes much like the Shinto tradition the act of cleansing, accept that it focuses on
meditation as a way to purify the mind. This interpretation of purification as seen within the Buddhist
teachings, is the attempt to clear the mind of contaminated beliefs, concepts, and materials, which can
be harmful to someone seeking enlightenment. This can be understood by Dogen who wrote within
the Bendowa that the, The person seated in zazen without fail casts off body and mind, severs all the
heretofore disordered and defiled thoughts and views emanating from his discriminating
consciousness, conforms totally with the genuine Buddha Dharma, (Dogen 2002, p. 12). Within this

The negativity of being attached to materialistic objects and desires are the two most prominent
possessions that Dogen explains must be destroyed in order to achieve absolute awareness. This belief
is evident when Dogen states that, Leaving no perceptions in any sphere or directions; all living beings
use it unceasingly, with no sphere or direction appearing in their perceptions, (Dogen 2002, p. 8). This
describes Dogen s thought that by being restricted or limited to think in a certain way can be a leading
influence where pollutants of the mind can grow and fester. The historical context of the following
passage was that Dogen gave the distinction that zazen was the more superior technique. This was
asserted in order to gain a better understanding of the prominent technique that was utilized by the

Zen Buddhism attempts to clarify within its own interpretation the causes of these types of mental
toxins, and ways in which they can be cured. Although Shinto focuses primarily on physical
impurities, Zen Buddhism describes them on a spiritual level and so it is through this where we can
see the clear relations that the two respective religions have with each

Historical Development of Security Forces and Policy...
Historical Development of Security Forces: The historical development of security forces and policy
making in crime and justice from civilization period to the establishment of contemporary nation
states and governments mainly involves the evolution of law and legal structures. Some of the various
codes of law and justice that have been promulgated at different periods of history include: The Code
of Hammurabi: This is the earliest code of written and public laws that was developed in Babylonia
approximately 2,000 years before Christ. While this ancient legal code was promulgated by Emperor
Hammurabi, it was popularly accepted as a law of divine origin that helped reinforce its legitimacy.
Since it dealt with various aspects, the Code of Hammurabi established the idea of restorative and
retributive justice (Shahidullah, 2008, p. 3). Draco s Law: This code of law was originally written by
an Athenian legislator as a strict legal code for Greece around 621 B.C. Draco s law stated that it was
the state s responsibility to punish offenders instead of private citizens as many people were sentenced
to death for crimes. Law of the Twelve Tables: The introduction of the Twelve Tables around 450 B.C.
was the most significant ancient legal code of the Roman Law. The development of this law involved
10 Roman men who had total control in writing laws to govern Roman citizens (Limbaugh, 2010).
Based on the concept of safeguarding the lower class from political elites, the law

Don Pedro Foils
The Dons Foil The depth of characters in a story build off of each other as they highlight each other
character s strengths. This is called character foils. In William Shakespeare s book Much Ado About
Nothing the characters Don Pedro, Claudio, Benedick, and Don John come back from the war to
return to Messina, Italy. Claudio falls in love with Hero, and with the help of Don Pedro, Claudio is
able to marry Hero. However, Don Pedro s brother, Don John, deceives everyone with his
mischievous lies to ruin the marriage. Throughout the book, there are many character foils, Don John
and Don Pedro are character foils of each other because of their social status, their reactions, and their
personalities. Although Don Pedro and Don John are brothers, ... Show more content on

As stated by Don John, I had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in this grace...will it serve for a
model to build mischief on? What is he for a fool that betroths himself to unquietness. (Shakespeare
14). Here it is shown that Don John feels very miserable around people, especially his brother. He
blames others for his mistreatment and prefers to avoid them. Don Pedro shows different feelings with
regard to people as he said, Thou wilt be like a lover presently and tire the hearer with a book of
words. If thou dost love fair Hero, cherish it and I will break with her and her father thou shalt have
her, (Shakespeare 11). Don Pedro shows that he cares for others and will support them in their ideas,
as he said here to help Claudio s love life. He doesn t show that he hate peoples as much as Don John,
but rather he gives advice and helps others with their problems. Don John is move negative character,
while Don Pedro is significantly more considerate for others. In conclusion, Don Pedro and Don John
are clear foils of each other. They show completely different traits as the story goes on. The way they
are treated in society, the way they react towards similar situations, and their differing personalities
show the clear depth between the characters. Shakespeare put these differences in the brothers, Don
Pedro and Don John to enhance the plot. Especially, to clarify and further show the character s traits.

The Swatch s price strategy was clear, they sold their products at an affordable price everywhere in the
world (in the US: $40, in Switzerland: SFr50, in Germany: DM60, in Japan: Y7000). What is more
important that they didn t change their price in the first ten years despite their incredible success. Their
price strategy helped their positioning, and helped to communicate their brand message: Swatch is not
just affordable, it s approachable. Buying a Swatch is an easy decision to make, an easy decision to
live with. The Swatch was unique in its advertising strategy too. They spent 30% of the retail price on
advertising which was compared to the industry average, was more than double. Besides the high
profile advertising, they also used below the line activities, like break dancing sponsorship, celebrity
endorsement, special events, or product placements (for example the Giant Swatch in Germany). They
created a Swatch Collectors Club for their most ardent fans, who could receive a subscription to the
Swatch Street Journal magazine which contained the latest news, information about Swatch. The
Swatch s distribution strategy was so different from the other watches . They created new approach
and ways of points of purchase. For example The Veggie Swatch line was sold in fruits and vegetable
markets. They didn t sell Swatches in jewelry displays like the others; they preferred

An Investigation Into The Nature And Causes Of The Wealth...

Throughout the book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith
uses the term commercial society rather than more accustomed words like capitalism. Smith explains
what he means by this term, is when the division of labour has been once thoroughly established, it is
but a small part of a man s want which the produce of his own labour can supply. He supplies the far
greater part of them by exchanging that surplus part of the produce of his own labour, which is over
and above his own consumption, for such parts of the produce of other s men s labour as he has
occasion for. Every man thus lives by exchanging, or becomes in some measure a merchant, and the
society itself grows to be what is properly a commercial society (Smith, 2003, p. 37).
He was trying to say is that commercial society is a civilization where everyone is a merchant: a
dealer, trader, and seller. Throughout the book, Smith starts having an agreement and disagreement on
commercial society, which is a commercial society deforms human nature. However, continuing
reading his book, there are more benefits of a commercial society than the drawbacks. A commercial
society does not damage human nature, instead improves human nature by acting on one s self interest
to bring positive benefits to society, connects and aids members of society together through trade and

  • 2. `` Nature `` By Ralph Waldo Emerson Nature is an essay written by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and published by James Munroe and Company in 1836. [1] Nature has a total of 41 pages. The essay consists of eight parts: Nature, Commodity, Beauty, Language, Discipline, Idealism, Spirit and Prospects. Each part takes a different perspective on the relationship between humans and nature. In this essay, Emerson emphasizes the foundation of transcendentalism, a religious and philosophical movement that developed during the late 1820s and 30s in the Eastern region of the United States as protest against the general state of spirituality and, in particular, the state of intellectualism. [2] Transcendentalism suggests that the divine, or God, suffuses nature, and suggests that reality can be understood by studying nature. [3] Transcendentalism is closely related to Unitarianism, the dominant religious movement in Boston at the early nineteenth century. Transcendentalism evolved as an organic consequence of the Unitarian emphasis on free conscience and the value of intellectual reason. [4] Emerson divides nature into four stages: commodity, beauty, language, and discipline. These define the ways by which humans use nature for their basic needs. The historical significance of Nature was that transcendentalism club led the celebration of the American experiment as one of the individualism and self reliance. [5] Emerson s purpose in the essay Nature is to lay out and attempt to solve an abstract problem: that humans do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though the struggles faced by Odysseus and me are different, they have a common overlapping theme that ties them together. Which causes them in turn to be in fact very comparable. Both Odysseus and I face obstacles such as temptation, laziness, and distraction. I came to a conclusion that a lot of the information from the chapters will come very useful to my personal and professional life. I decided to summarize on some of the concepts that I learned in the chapters in the book An experiential approach to organization development . The concepts or theories that caught my attention that I felt that I can relate to are the model of organizational development, changing the culture, overcoming the resistance to change, goal setting theory and employee empowerment. All of the chapters in the book can be incorporated into my professional life, and I feel that any organization will benefit from reading this book. Model for organizational development is a continuing process of long term organizational improvement that consists of several stages this model emphasizes on a combination of individual, team and organizational relationships. The first phase is anticipated need for change which states that before a change can be done there has to be a need. The manager of the organization must feel that there is a need to change and he must adopt new ways for a change to be productive. The second stage is developing the practitioner client relationship which means that after the group has identified a need for change the organizational development practitioner enters the system and a relationship begins to grow between the practitioner and the client system. ... The Uighurs reacted to these feelings by going down a violent path, rioting and fighting for what they perceive to be incursions on their rights. Now, even 50 years later, there is still conflict in the region, with the Chinese Army having to quell a riot just as recently as 2009. Next, in Chechnya, following along the same lines of political conflicts as Xinjiang, just with a dose of economic and cultural for good measure, the revolution was brought about by the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. What Are The Effects Of The Cold War In The 1940s At the heart of the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union in the 1940s was a fundamental difference in the ways the great powers envisioned the postwar world. Pros And Cons Of School Blocking Students Professor Sam Wineburg of Stanford University adamantly opposes the practice of schools blocking students from certain websites and databases such as Wikipedia, Twitter, and Instagram. Dr. Wineburg suggests that if students only have access to information chosen and filtered by the institution, their ability to choose what to believe, and how to think will not develop. If students do not have access to sites such as Wikipedia, once they are able to browse freely, they will be unable to tell what is reliable. By imposing these restrictions, schools are failing to allow students to think freely. More importantly, they are depriving students of furthering their intelligence by choosing themselves what information is valid and what is not. These constraints essentially tell students what to believe; therefore, once they go beyond classroom doors and browse freely, they will be incapable of finding sources on their own. Furthermore, blocking sites only worsens the spread of fake news, since students believe everything they read. I agree with Dr. Wineburg in that schools should not block certain websites. Blocking students from sources or only allowing certain online databases not only limits students ability to expand their knowledge, but harms their free thinking and forces them to believe the information placed in front of them, ultimately contributing to students spreading fake news. Wathen is attempting to value the proposed acquisition of Pinkerton in an effort to determine whether bids of $85 million to $100 million is value enhancing for CPP s shareholders. Additionally, Wathen must choose between two financing options: (1) raising $100 Million via a $75 million debt structure at 11.5% interest rate together with a $25 million equity investment for a 45% stake in the combined company and (2) a $100 million debt facility at 13.5% interest rate. With the synergies expected, the value to CPP increases by $14.6 Million (see exhibit 4). Generally for the particular small firms to maintain rating of A, the firms have to maintain a debt service ratio of 6. Hence it is practical to assume interest coverage ratio of 6.0x in the long term for Pinkerton in this case. Pinkerton gets benefit from 34% tax shield, which account for the value of $15.4 Million (see exhibit 5). Therefore, as calculated in exhibit 6, the total value of Pinkerton from 3 sources to CPP in expected case is $119.7 Million. This is higher than the $100 million asking price. Financing: Free cash flow after debt service is still positive in both options. For the value to existing shareholder, as option 1 CPP gives premium of $15.2 Million over $25 Million for 45% stake of CPP to investors, option 2 of $100 Million Debt would be more preferable. Pessimistic Case Valuation: We then perform the valuation exactly the same method as expected case. The value of Pinkerton with less gross margin and more working capital needed is $67.1 Million (See exhibit 9 for 5 years valuation and exhibit 10 for terminal value). With lower performance, the value of 34% tax shield is also lower to $10.8 Million (see exhibit 12). As stated by Don John, I had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in this grace...will it serve for a model to build mischief on? What is he for a fool that betroths himself to unquietness. (Shakespeare 14). Here it is shown that Don John feels very miserable around people, especially his brother. He blames others for his mistreatment and prefers to avoid them. Don Pedro shows different feelings with regard to people as he said, Thou wilt be like a lover presently and tire the hearer with a book of words. If thou dost love fair Hero, cherish it and I will break with her and her father thou shalt have her, (Shakespeare 11). Every man thus lives by exchanging, or becomes in some measure a merchant, and the society itself grows to be what is properly a commercial society (Smith, 2003, p. 37).
