Standard Definition Algorithm For A Wired Network
Part 1:
Question 1
Standard Definition Algorithm Suggested Use
WEP A wireless protocol that is intended to deliver the privacy comparable to that of a wired network.
RC4 No longer used unless it is for lessons in hacking. Big security flaws and easy to hack.
WPA This protocol offers more data encryption than WEP and also offers user authentication. RC4
with TKIP This is used with older devices. But these may still need an update through firmware so
they will be compliant.
WPA2 This protocol offers CCMP (Counter Cipher Mode with Block Chaining Message
Authentication Code Protocol) as the replacement of TKIP. AES Only used in newer devices.
(Dulaney Easttom, 2014) (How To Geek, n.d.)
Question 2 Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) is an encryption protocol that is included in the
IEEE 802.11i standard for wireless LAN networks. It helps provide more encryption security than
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). TKIP uses its algorithms to protect WEP s security flaws and allows
the users of older devices to upgrade without replacing any hardware. These algorithms are additional
code at the beginning and end to capture and modify WEP. TKIP uses RC4 as its foundation but it also
includes four more algorithms to increase strength: cryptographic message integrity check,
initialization vector sequencing mechanism, per packet key mixing function, and re keying
mechanism. Although, TKIP is used for upgrading security on devices equipped with WEP, it isn t

Catcher in the Rye Essay
J.D Salinger s fictional novel The Catcher in the Rye explores ideas of coming of age and challenging
society s morals through the life of Holden Caulfield, the young protagonist of the novel. The term
coming of age can be defined as when someone reaches an important stage in development and is
accepted by a large number of people. The word morals is concerned with the principles or rules of
right conduct or the distinction of right and wrong. Themes such as innocence, isolation and youth
reside in the novel, the audience is made aware of Caulfield s view on children s innocence, the
isolation he feels and how he perceives adults as phony .
Holden Caulfield is a 17 year old adolescent boy that becomes infatuated with protecting ... Show

She kept telling him to sit still and behave himself. She was about as kind hearted as a goddam wolf.
The simile She was about as kind hearted as a goddam wolf emphasises the similarities between the
lady and a wolf, this then positions the reader to become aware of Caulfield s feelings towards adults
and the lack of respect . This sense of him having no respect for adults challenges society s moral of
respecting your elders is explored throughout the novel and represented through Caulfield s character.
In conclusion, J. D Salinger explores ideas and concepts of what it is like to become of age and how
society s morals are challenged by adolescents and children. He uses themes such as the innocence of
children, the isolation of Caulfield and how the youth perceive adults to represent these ideas. I
believe that Salinger effectively explores the ideas of coming of age and challenging society s morals
within his novel by using these themes and allows myself as an individual to understand the novel on

Intermodal Surface Transportation Act Of 1991 Case Study
The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) was created to better the
transportation infrastructure in the United States. One of the main reasons for the act was that it
emphasized intermodalism the seamless linking of highway, rail, air, and marine transportation
(Schweppe, 2001). The legislation enabled the state and local government to have a greater flexibility
in transportation programs such as safety, traffic mitigation and reduced emissions. This has lead to
many positive changes in the enhancement of roads and bridges along the intermodal transport system
to include historic and scenic improvements. What the legislation did not enable the federal
government to be directly involved with innovative changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At present the trucking industry functions on public roads and the railways function as privately
owned. Each mode needs to be addressed equally to make improvements. If the government
implements or funds a change to a road network it should be done to either add a benefit to the rail
system. As innovations are ready to be utilized there may be a need for government assistance in
implementation due to the scale of which the transportation modes operate. The nation s railway is the
largest in the world due to the amount of land mass it crosses and size of the country. A balance needs
to be achieved between the companies that own the transportation companies and the nations end goal
that is beneficial to both the public and private sector. The many different trucking and railway
companies needs legislature to be in effect on a federal level so each company falls within the
guidelines across the country. The private and public sectors need to synchronized their future goals

Literary Research Paper
Tennyson Owen
War Poems Their Ideas The poems, The Charge of The Light Brigade and Dulce et Decorum Est, both
deal with an idea of war. The writers both have the same viewpoint about war, but the way that they
articulate those ideas on paper varies. Through literary devices in the poems, the authors show two
different wars, but the same tragic outcome death. These two poems showcase how people can have
different outlooks on war, but in the end they all end with the same deadly outcome. These writers,
Wilfred Owen and Alfred Lord Tennyson, uses tone, metaphor or repetition, and rhyming and diction
to present a more concrete version on their perception of war. The ... Show more content on

The tone that Alfred Lord Tennyson created for this poem has an honorable and celebratory feel to it
for those whom were lost. The overall tone of the poem capitalizes on the his idea of war and how we
should be acting towards those who have given up themselves to hopefully makes their country better.
Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est also created a specific tone in his poem as well. His poem takes
on a completely different tone though. In his version of a war piece, Owen is showing us how war is
bad and how much he feels that it is wrong, and how we won t like the conclusion that results from
them. This war poem, about the First World War, has a more negative look on the actions of war. An
example of this tone can be seen in the first stanza. According to the Bloom s Literary Reference
Online, The first stanza presents a scene saturated with misery. (Dulce et Decorum Est) Throughout
the entire piece Owen gives us the tone of misery, awful challenges, and death all negative feelings.
We can see in the last couple of lines of the poem how Owen really felt about war, The old Lie, Dulce
et Decorum est / Pro patria mori. (27 28) This roughly translates to it is sweet and right to die for your
country. It is a wonderful thing that one could die for their country, the soldiers should be filled with
honor to do so. But Wilfred Owen tells us

Stephen Kings Why We Crave Horror Films Essay
As I was lying in bed recalling the event happened an hour before I was thinking to myself that I will
never look at lightning the same way again. Thunder and lightning was still present in the night sky as
I lay there in bed thanking God I was alive and well. Each flash of lightning lit the entire room and
each clap of thunder rattled the windows of my hotel room. Lightning can seem much more terrifying
when you re up 20,000 ft in the mountains, and the thunder sounds a lot louder too. The sound of
nature s fury seemed to slowly descend as the night went on, but my nerves did not. I was still stunned
and in shock of being stuck in a lightning storm high in the mountains. I never thought about the
power and damage lightning can inflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soon the moonlight illuminated the scenery. As I was standing on the balcony admiring the scenery
something finally went wrong, a huge black cloud covered the moon. I soon heard the thunder. It
seemed to be nothing to worry about, so I didn t acknowledge it. A few hours later the thunder grew
louder and I could see the flashes of lightning headed our way. I went inside to inform my parents of
the weather, but they didn t seem to worry about it much until the cloud was almost over the lodge.
My family and I left the reception alone while everyone else stayed in cover; they were the smart ones
I thought.
We left quickly walking fast and practically running toward the gondolas so we wouldn t be stuck on
the mountain all night long. By now the storm was close and so was the lightning. The people at the
station loaded the four of us into a gondola and we slowly worked our way down the mountain.
Hanging in this tiny box of metal by a hook on a wire cable was not the most reassuring thing. I
looked out the window hoping to see the ground, but it was too dark. I could barely see the hand in
front my own face. Lightning would flash, and all I could make out were the tops of trees. Paranoia
overwhelmed me. My breaths seemed to become further and further apart as time slowed. As I was
trying to relieve my mind of worst case scenario, a big flash and enormous rumble sounded. We
stopped moving. Our gondola had

Molecule 2-Formylphenyl Configuration
In our molecule 2 formylphenyl, tosyl group and 4 methylbenzene fluorophenyl prop 2 enoate are
attached at N1 atom. The atoms around the sulfonamide S1 atom in the MFMSF are arranged in a
slightly distorted tetrahedral arrangement configuration. The largest deviation is in the angle O3 S1
O2 of 119.60(1) o, but it conforms to the non tetrahedral arrangement commonly observed in
sulfonamides [24, 25]. The bond angles N1 S1 C8 of 107.8(1)o is correspondingly smaller than the
tetrahedral values of 109o [26]. The significant difference in length of the C24 O5 = 1.329(2) Å and

between fluorophenyl(C18 C23) and 2 formylphenyl(C1 C6) ring is 44.0(1)o. The structural
parameter of MFMSF conforms to those reported for similar structure [31]. Fluorine atom F1 is

Pros And Cons Of Bangsamoro
To our honourable adjudicators, competitive co debaters, guests, a pleasant morning to everyone.
Compromising peace agreements between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the
Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) may lead to betrayal. Betrayal, in a sense that the ruling
president, which is President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, might put the Bangsamoro people s life in danger.
We all know that President Duterte s decisions when it comes to these kinds of problems are
somewhat diversed. For instance, last November 3, 2016, President Duterte and MNLF s leader Nur
Misuari talked about a Pre Agreement with regards to peace talks. However, the said agreement

Salt Water Lab Report
We did Lab 2 part 1, first we found the weight of the graduated cylinder and 10 ml of water. Then we
found the weight of the graduated cylinder. After that we found the we found the weight of the 10 ml
of water by subtracting the weight of the water and the cylinder by the weight of only the cylinder. We
found the volume of the water by seeing how much the water rises but it did not rise from 10 ml mark
because no object or weight was in the water. The density of the water is mass divided by volume. Our
volume was 1 ml and our, mass was 9.8g, and after dividing those two numbers we got a density of
.98g/ml. But the density of pure water is 1.0, and the density we got for the density of tap water which
is not pure water, is supposed to weigh more than the pure water. In Lab 2 part 3 the wt of the 10 ml of
salt water and G.C together was 37g about 1g difference from the weight of 10 ml of H2O and the
G.C. The weight of the G.C alone is 27g. The weight of the salt water alone is 10g, the volume of it
was 10ml. The density of the salt water was 1g/ml. The discrepancy in this data about part 1 and part 3
of lab 2.The data of the 2 parts only have a difference of 1g or lower.

The Penang Second Brigde in Malaysia
The Penang Second Bridge is one of the longest in Malaysia and also in the South East Asia region. It
is also known as the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge which is named after the Sultan of
Kedah. The bridge connects from Batu Kawan on the mainland to Batu Maung on the Penang Island.
It has an overall length of 24km and a length over water (displacement) of 16.9km. It is much longer
when compared to the Penang First Bridge which only has an overall length of 13.5km. The building
of this bridge has cost the government for RM4.5billion.
The planning of building the second bridge to link the mainland to the island has been brought up
back in the year of 1995 by the 4th Prime Minister which is Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad and also
the 3rd Chief Minister of Penang, Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon. Later, Malaysian government unveiled
the plan to construct the bridge in August 2006. The project is implemented in the 9th Malaysian Plan.
It is the largest civil construction work carried out in Malaysia in the past 2 decades.
The construction of the bridge officially started in November 2008 after all the planning and
procedure done. The bridge is currently projected completed on February 2014. The bridge is built
under the cooperation between China and Malaysia. The project itself was funded by China through
the Export Import Bank of China as Malaysia signed RM2.7bilion loan agreement in July 2007.
Besides that, Malaysia also cooperated with the contractor from China that is China

The Effects Of Drunk Driving On The Road Of Driving
Oluwaseyi Isola
Prof. Laura Baltuska
English 101 015
29 November, 2016
Under the Influence Is Under Arrest
What is one of the most evil and deadly acts? Drunk driving? Oh no! These two words together are
uncordial behaviors. The crime of driving a vehicle or operating a motorized machine while under the
influence of alcohol is totally against the law of the land, but some people still won t stop. Is there any
gain in drunk driving than loss of lives, loss of driving privileges, and property vehicles? One third of
traffic deaths involve alcohol impaired driving (MADD). Therefore, a behavior that involves a tiny
proportion of drivers is one of the key causes of death on the roads. This is an indication that retaining
the licenses of drivers involved in drunk driving is not enough to deter drunk driving because some
people in this category are still driving even though their licenses have been suspended or revoked.
For this reason, it is necessary to adopt more strict measures to deal with the problem. In particular,
drunk driving can be prevented through the use of ignition interlock systems and sobriety checkpoints
at an individual level while a school based instructional program can help to prevent the problem at a
community level.
To begin with, drunk driving is a serious menace to Americans on the road, as it contributes to a large
number of traffic deaths and injuries. In 2012, for instance, over 10,000 people lost their lives from
crashes attributed to drunk driving.

Mentoring For Senior Professional Field
Mentoring is an interregnal part of every professional field. Organizations that pursue future
improvement and development focus on mentoring by means of inviting internal and external
professionals to mentor junior members. Mentoring is a rather complex subject and often takes serious
preparation on the part of a mentor. Just being an experienced professional is not enough for becoming
a good mentor for juniors. Mentoring is a responsible activity, which requires high levels of patience,
professionalism, ethics, enthusiasm, tolerance and skills. Even though most of organizations mention
highly developed training programs, in practice mentoring is still a new territory for most of them and
often the professionals cannot properly explain what actually makes a good mentor and what efficient
mentoring should include.
The field of engineering is one of the professional spheres where young specialists are in high demand
since there is a growing skills shortage in this field. To be able to function effectively in the future,
engineering companies must take the issue of skills and professional scarcity seriously and improve
mentoring methods in order to prepare highly qualified workers for the future.
The word mentor comes from ancient Greek mythology, Mentor was the name of the teacher of
Odysseus s son (Miller 3). Today this word is used to refer to wise and reliable supervisors. First of
all, mentoring is based on a relationship between a mentor and a protégé. The success

An Analysis Of Flannery O Connor
The percentage of people who say they believe in God, pray, frequently go to religious services,
embrace minimal religious practices or find their faith meaningful has declined over the last 50 years.
A growing group of Americans do not believe in God or any organized faith. In fact, unbelief is even
fashionable. Religious conviction is perceived as burdensome or an outdated attitude easily discarded.
This is the backdrop upon which 20th century American, Southern Gothic writer, Flannery O Connor,
wrote her books and short stories in the 1950s and 1960s. She, in her short stories and books of
fiction, did not describe beautiful rooms or people living happily ever after; she wrote about the
human condition in the American South and the state of religious conviction. She wrote about
unbelievers, lukewarm souls, narcissists and the spiritually illiterate. She wrote about racists, white
trash, busy bodies and poor, beaten down black folks. She wrote about the unraveling of faith where
the default mode for her characters was apathy, smugness, desapir or indifference. She believed the
South was haunted by religion but as a group were literally swimming in mediocrity, cynicism and
emptiness a rough and tumble nihilism. They might say their faith mattered or attended services, but
many were just lying to their neighbors and themselves. To her, they were just checking the box with a
faith bordering on tepid and pathetic. She felt, given their current status, they would not know a

Glaciers-The Identity Of A Glaicer
The Identity of a Glaicer Glaciers have helped define the topography of earth for many years. A
glacier is a large mass of ice that has been compacted of snow and ice for a long period of time. The
ice age we will be focusing on is the Pleistocene era, which was a period that began about 2.5 million
years ago and ended about 10,000 years ago (513). This was the most recent ice age where it helped
formed our present day lands. During this time, ice covered about 19 million square miles which was
about 1/3 of earth s land surface (515). Many parts of all the continents were covered with ice and that
had a great effect on our topography due to the glaciers it created. The two primary types of glaciers

The moraines is a general term for glacier deposited landforms composed of till (526). The features
usually are irregular and is normally longer than wider. The three types of moraines in glacial
deposition of ice sheets are terminal, recessional and ground. Terminal moraine is the front part of a
glacier where all the power is. Although glaciers may appear to stop moving forward, the internal part
of the glacier continues to give strength to its movement. Recessional moraine is right behind the
terminal moraine where the ice would spread out putting pressure out to the edges in bulges. The last
type is called ground moraine and that is when large quantities of till are laid down from underneath
the glacier rather than from its edge (527). A feature we see from the glaciers deposition is an
elongated hill (527) called a drumlin. These long, small hills that are usually in groups, are much
smaller than moraines but still made predominantly of

The Formula Of Zinc And Hydrochloric Acid
In this lab, we balanced the equation xZn(s) + yHCl(aq) → ZnxCly (s) + y/2H2(g) by the information
obtained from the lab. When zinc and hydrochloric acid are mixed together, the reaction took place in
an evaporating dish that was accompanied by hydrogen gas. Then we measured out the mass of zinc
and chlorine in the reaction and calculated the empirical formula of zinc chloride which was ZnCl8.
Based on the conservation of mass, we balanced the equation and got Zn(s) + 8 HCl (aq) → ZnCl8 (s)
+ 4 H2 (g). In the second part of the experiment, we obtained copper wire and sulfur from the
instructor. Then we measured out the mass of copper and added proper amount of sulfur to cover the
copper wire. During the lab, copper with sulfur was heated, and the reaction was carried out. We saw
the blue flame occurred on the crucible. We determined the empirical formula of copper sulfide, which
was Cu2S. Then, the equation was balanced easily from the obtained data which was 2Cu + S = Cu2S.

universally higher scores, however the impact on the achievement gap remained marginal (Stone

The first database provided a sample of hospital CEO compensations throughout Ontario. Considering
it only depicted employee salaries that were $100,000 or above, the sample was restricted to salaries
equal to or above this value. The performance data was drawn from the Hospital Report Research
Collaborative: Acute Care for Three Years. The sample purposely used acute care hospitals of varying
sizes over a time span of three years (2005, 2006, 2007). This data was then combined with the
corresponding hospital s CEO compensation for each of the previous years. Salaries of CEOs were
intentionally looked at from the prior year since changes implemented by the CEO and their impact on
performance measurements would follow thereafter. Overall, the study consisted of 261 CEO hospital
year observations in a sample of 103 acute care nonprofit hospitals. The control variables for the study
were year fixed effects, whether CEOs manage one or multiple hospital sites, hospital size/type

Teotihuacan Art
Although the Olmec, Teotihuacan and Post Classic are civilizations that are years apart from each
other, many of their basic ideological concepts are extremely similar. Some scholars claim that the
forms of the objects of visual culture remain constant with the passage of time, while the symbolism
and ideology behind objects of visual culture are altered by the different civilizations that adopt the
form and by the passage of time. Form and style are directly correlated, as the style being used to
produce an object of visual culture will have an impact on its overall form and appearance. It is
evident that each civilization had their own art style, therefore, making the form to vary throughout
the different civilizations and time periods in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While certain symbols and figures maintained the significance and meanings despite the passage of
time, art styles utilized by the different Mesoamerican civilizations evolved with the passage of time.
Having a unified system in which each of the figures possessed the same meanings and importance for
each civilization, allowed for the emergence of an art style that could be easily understood and utilized
by most. Before the Postclassical International system, there was not a unified art style used through
Mesoamerica; this system was an expression of the unification among the dominant religious and
political views at the time after the fall of Teotihuacan and before the rise of Tula (Kubler Ecleticism
172). Developing a unique, yet universal style was enabled by the similarities in the ideologies of the
different Mesoamerican civilizations. Through repeated interaction, the symbols and styles merged. In
order to create a system different cultures could understand and identify, the meaning attributed to
each of the symbols had to be somewhat similar throughout the different regions. The merger could
not have occurred if the symbolized used by the different population did not resemble each other. Due
to their similarity, with repeated interaction the

Who s For The Game Pope Analysis
In the two given sources, the poems have a strong intention on the reader. The authors of the two
poems use many similes and hyperboles. In the first poem, Who s For The Game?, Pope has a strong
hook on the reader and uses imagery to describe the scene at which soldiers are at battle. In the
beginning of the poem, Who s for the Game? , the author states that the poem was inteneded for the
reader to be convinved in joining the U.S. Army. The author shows point of view when she goes on to
describe the scene of many wars and battles. For example, she states, Who ll give his country a hand?
This line means that who will sacrifice their life for their beloved country and remembered citizens.

When the author states, Who ll grip and tackle the job unafraid? the author means that who will be
fearless to go and help their country fight in the war. The meaning of the second poem, Dulce et
decorum est, means It is sweet and fitting to die for one s country. The author portrays and convinces
the reader not to go to war. In contrast, the second poem is an opposition to the poem Who s for the
Game? The poem tries to explain that war is not at all glorious, nor is the death of a soldier sweet nor
pleasant. In addition, the author says, For there s only one course to pursue, meaning that our country
has a goal to destroy another country in the war and the soldiers have to pursue this goal. When the
author says, Your country is up to her neck in a fight, And she s looking and calling for you, the author
means that the United States is waiting for people to join the army and fight for our country and our
country is looking and calling for you. In this first paragraph, the author describes the ranks of the
soldiers, and says that soldiers resemble old beggars and hags. In addition, the term blood shod

Peter Van Houten s An Imperial Affliction
John Green derives his book s title from a famous line in Shakespeare s Julius Caesar: The fault, dear
Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are the underlings. (I,ii 139 140). What does the
line mean and why would Green have used it for his title? Even more important, why would he have
altered it to read, The fault in our stars rather than ourselves? How does Green s meaning differ from
Shakespeare s? This line means that we have as many faults as we do stars in the universe, that we
usually intend on making the world better and helping others but sometimes you must think of the
people around you and if they would benefit. Green may have used this for the title of the book
because nobody is perfect, everybody has a downside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This book s real author, John Green, has said that Van Houten is a horrible, horrible person but I have
an affection for him. Why might Green have said that? What do you think of Van Houten? I believe
that Peter Van Houten, the fictional author of An Imperial Affliction, is a man still grieving the loss of
his daughter. He has become depressed and moved to alcohol as a distraction from how his life fell
apart after she died. Van Houten is still trying to cope but doesn t know how and after he wrote the
book he fell deeper into this depressive state because of all the questions and fan mail being sent to
him making him remember the death of his daughter, and at first he may have replied to a few pieces
of fan mail, but after that it brought back to many memories causing him to become a drunk recluse.
Green may have called Van Houten a horrible person because of how he portrayed the fictional author
in the book, that when he was writing the book he probably never really realised what the character
could be assumed to be going through. I think that Van Houten may be hostile on the outside, but in
reality he has put up a wall to try to keep people out so that he doesn t get hurt again when they leave

Restaurant Business Report
Business report Executive summary As the world gets intricate and complex courtesy of new trends
and social waves, no sector of life seems to be left behind. The hospitality industry is faced with one
of the greatest challenges ever and all attention and focus is certainly geared toward addressing
customer satisfaction. However, without efficient information systems and proper technological
applications, the whole efforts are always insufficient or wasted. The need to upgrade systems and
improve operations is the main strategic objective of most restaurant executives. This report is
therefore an analysis of the need to apply the modern information systems in the industry and embrace
the growing usage of the point of sale system (POS) that has become the industry norm across the
world. In a way, most hoteliers and restaurant owners are confronted with unrelenting demand to
radically transform operations or to exit the market. To avoid the latter, implementation is inevitable.
Introduction In an increasingly competitive global environment, where the search for opportunities
dominates all other undertakings, where resources are less than those who seek them, it becomes
important to find ways and means of sailing through. Businesses across the world are increasingly
responding to these challenges by applying information systems to enhance performance and
efficiency in the operations. The major objective lies in producing high quality goods at the lowest
possible cost. As

Deadliest Shooting In American History
On October 1 2015, tragic news traumatized people from all over United States of America and even,
people from all over the world. A 26 year old student at Umpqua Community College of Roseburg,
Oregon, Christopher Sean Harper Mercer, opened fire in a classroom and gunned down nine people
(students and a teacher) and injured nine others. A survivor from that incident, Anastasia Boylan, told
the news that the shooter singled out the Christians in the classroom and that before shooting the
students he asked them about their religion and told the Christian students that they would be meeting
God in a minute. Then, he shot them. During the investigation, the investigators also found blog posts

Social Norms In Research
Social norms are people s beliefs about the attitudes and behaviors that are normal, acceptable or even
expected in a particular social context. In many situations people s perceptions of these norms will
greatly influence their behavior. When people misperceive the norms of their peer group that is, when
they inaccurately think an attitude or behavior is more (or less) common than is actually the case they
may choose to engage in behaviors that are in sync with those false norms.1 Pluralistic Ignorance is
the term that is used in academia to discuss social norms theory and refers to the incorrect belief that

A Study On Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic Fibrosis Rhonda Abraham Maternal/Child Nursing March 20, 2015 Esha Osborne
Cystic Fibrosis It was suggested by Bush (2012) that most of the genetic related diseases are the
hardest to cure or have no cure at all. This is due to the fact that the DNA of the individuals cannot be
altered easily by modern medicine and even the most innovative medical machines available. One of
the diseases which is considered as a genetic disorder is the Cystic Fibrosis, also called as
mucoviscidosis. This is a genetically transmitted, hence hereditary, disease which affects the internal
organs of an individual primarily the lungs, pancreas, liver, kidneys, and the intestine (Buckingham,

This disease is considered as inherited disease mostly among Caucasians, where approximately 1000
new cases are recorded every year. Latinos and American Indians are among the races most likely to
acquire CF by genetic characters and less prevalent among African American. Statistics from the
health agencies had recorded that there are more than 10 million Americans who have faulty CF gene
carriers without them knowing it (Buckingham, 2012). Based on the Changing Epidemiology of
Cystic Fibrosis reported by Simmons (1992) in Journal of Pediatrics, he said that from 17,857 patients
treated with cystic fibrosis Foundation demonstrated a significant shift in the age distribution of
patients. The adult patient population increased and in 1990s the median age range of patients with
this disorder is 12.5 years old. Statistics revealed that among the surveyed patients, 90% of those
belong to age 12 was diagnosed with CF. Median survival age doubled in later years from age 14 to 28
years. Females are found to have lower median survival age than males. Etiology The main cause of
cystic fibrosis is hereditary where a carrier parents may transmit the faulty CFTR to her offspring,
whereas if such gene is transferred to the child, the latter has the chance of 25 percent of developing
CF. Experts claimed that if the child acquired the faulty CFTR gene from only one parent, say

Cigarette Smoking And Its Effects On The Human Body
It is widely understood that cigarette smoking carries many serious health risks, especially for
cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis and hypertension (Rahman et al. 2007). Studies have
shown that cigarettes release over 4000 different chemicals, all of which can wreak havoc on the every
organ of the human body, especially the cardiovascular and pulmonary system, when inhaled (Jonas et
al., 1992; Sin and Man 2003). Over 200 people die every day from complications due to cigarette
smoking in the United States alone, and smoking cigarettes causes an estimated 76% of all vascular
disease (Czermin and Waldherr, 2003; Cole et al., 1993). It therefore stands to reason that cigarette
smoking and how it specifically effects the human body would be an extremely relevant area of study.
It has been consistently shown that cigarette smoking impairs endothelial dependent vasodilation in
humans (Ueda et al., 1997; Poredos et al., 1999; Campisi et al. 1998, 1999). It also increases the blood
plasma levels of endothelin in both humans and rats (Wright et al., 2001; Goerre et al. 1995; Haak et
al., 1994). But until now, researchers have not been able to determine what the effects of increased
endothelin levels due to cigarette smoking have on the vascular system, specifically on vascular
contractility (Rahman et al., 2007). This is of particular interest because increased endothelin levels
have been shown to play a part in atherosclerosis pathogenesis (Haak et. Al, 1994). In this

Flimsy clippers break too easily. As for the muzzle, your dog may mouth you the first few times
before he gets used to the process.
It s best to have started clipping your dog s nails when he was a pup. But if it s too late, start playing
with your dog s feet gently so that he s not terrified when you try to use the clippers.
For the first few times you clip his nails, only trim a tiny bit of nail off so he gets used to the process.
Try to trim his nails every six to ten weeks. If your dog goes outside a lot, the pavement actually keeps
the nails at a decent length. But if your dog stays indoors, you ll have to clip them every 4 to six
weeks.
DO NOT cut into the live part of the nail. Your dog will be in agony! The live part is wear you see the
nail starting to turn pink. Also you can tell the live part by the differing texture and color of his nails.
Don t forget to trim the pointed end of the declaw (that s the dog s thumb).
When in doubt, you can always ask your vet or groomer to show you how to trim your dog s nails.

Impressionism And Its Influence On Art
Impressionism is often considered the first, true, modern art style. Do you agree with this statement, or
not? In your post, please refer to both Impressionist images and earlier art to support your discussion.
According to Giuntini the period of modernism began in 1850 and goes to 1960. (2015, para. 2)
Moreover, Giuntini continued that it started with Realist and ended with Abstract Impressionism.
Other sources say that Impressionism was the first truly modern artistic style. I am a tendency to agree
with that statement that Impressionism is the first modernistic style and here is my basis. There were
certain standards that art schools sort of subscribed to, and some ideals were that art be morally
uplifting and of a classic standard. However, there was shift in art with the Romanticism movement,
and while romanticism wanted to evoke emotion and used various methods to do so, realist artists
wanted to be in there here and now, something that was rather new and forward thinking. With the
industrial revolution all around them realists wanted to paint what they saw in everyday life.
Charles Baudelaire proclaimed that an artist must be their own time not stuck in the past. Gustave
Courbet of course embraced this and painted his uncle s funeral and called it A Burial at Ornans, of
course it was rejected for display so he did his own showing.
(Courbet, 1849) A Burial at Ornans
While this was a more modern subject matter still this style seemed harkened to Caravaggio in the

Connections Between The Stranger And Cool Hand Luke
Oftentimes when I get asked who s my most favored character is in a movie or TV show, it is usually
the hero and not necessarily the darker characters. In The Stranger and Cool Hand Luke , there are
both messianic roles that are connected with their main characters. In both the novel and the movie,
symbolism of Christ is one of the main relations that connect these stories together. In the movie Cool
Hand Luke , the main character Luke is the messianic archetype throughout the whole movie. His
name is related to the apostle Luke in the bible. Not everything Luke says is related to the bible or

Solution Focused Theory
As solution focused practice is one of the main influencing theoretical perspectives used by my
organisation, I have done some research into this theory and found aspects that I like and dislike
within it. I read up on solution focused therapy in Howe s A Brief Introduction to Social Work Theory
(2009). Solution focused therapy is generally a brief form of therapy where the aim is generally for
problems to be fixed within around 5 sessions. Howe (2009) recommends small positive, specific,
concrete and attainable, changes to help the client believe that change is possible. O Hanlon Weiner
Davis, 1989, as cited in Howe, 2009, p.90 91) suggest the following as key principles underlying
solution focused therapy:
Clients have resources and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the chapter, I found again and again, emphasis on the fact that workers are disinterested and
see no point in knowing the cause or explanation of a problem. Stalker, Levene Coady (1999), in their
critique of solution focused therapy, suggest that information about the past is not seen as useful, but
as problem talk . There are a few possible reasons that I might find an aversion to this. It could
possibly be because of my own personality type, I am someone who needs to talk through feelings
before I am ready to do anything about them. I need to feel like I am being heard, if I don t, then I tend
to hold on to the feelings and not move forward. This is probably somewhat linked to my second
possible reason for aversion to workers showing little interest in the full story. While I mostly come
from a raiser of consciousness perspective, I am also a seeker of meaning. I like to get a full picture, of
all the how s and why s of a situation, to better understand it, before looking at possible solutions. I
do, however, understand that this is just my view, and that other people may have a different

The Properties Of A Whole ( System )
As stated in my previous paper, change in an organization is often met with resistance, aggression,
confusion and most of all misunderstanding. When organizations do not perform adequate due
diligence prior to understanding major activities of change, employees become confused because of
the level of uncertainty that comes with change, for this reason people undergoing change must have
the knowledge of the properties of understanding change. This paper will discuss the properties for
understanding change and how these properties interact. The properties of understanding change are:
Understand that people are reluctant to change and fear change, change can be successful or fail
depending on the mindset of the organization, change is not about or doesn t occur as a matter of
resources or intelligence, and also the understanding that the motivation of change can happen by
applying both E and O theories, the understanding that continuous change happens in cycle, and
finally understanding that change goes through challenges. Russell Ackoff s stated that the essential
properties of a whole (system) are the product of the interactions of the parts, not the action of the
parts taken separately. Therefore for an organization to be productive it needs to concentrate more on
the interaction of the parts working together not separately. For instance, we discussed in class that (3
+ 3=6) and (3x3=9), these numbers illustrates that each departments within the organization may

There were long term and short term causes of WWI. While the long term causes made war inevitable,
the short term causes provided the spark that started the war. The first long term cause was the rise of
nationalism. This was a general rise in pride for your country, and the belief that your country is better
than anybody else s. Many of the other causes of war contributed to the rise of nationalism, including
imperialism, militarism, and the industrial revolution. Confederations of states that would eventually
link up like Italy and Germany finally unified as one country. Instead of being split up, they were one
force. Part of nationalism was militarism, because one of the ideal things to build up as a country is

In these policies, European countries would claim land as their own in other parts of the world that
weren t as developed, like Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Tension would rise between these
countries because of this claiming of land, especially when it came to Africa. It was called the
Scramble for Africa, and almost all of Africa was taken under control by European powers, so
territorial conflicts were not uncommon. This ties into nationalism because as these countries gained
confidence, they spread their influence throughout the less developed world. Another movement that
could be attributed to the start of WWI is the industrial revolution, It started in England but eventually
spread throughout Europe and even to the new world. In this movement, many new technologies were
created, and the steam powered engine was a driving force for many of them. These new technologies
enabled societies to accomplish things they couldn t do before, and do things faster than before.
Inevitably, weapons like tanks, submarines, biplanes, and poison gas also came out of this, and these
are the weapons that did the talking before and during the

Living Conditions In The Progressive Era
The Progressive movement that began in the late 1800 s and early 1900 s was an attempt to bring
about governmental reforms and to correct injustices in American life. Tired of the poor working and
living conditions, overcrowding of the cities, political corruption, and abuses by industrialists, people
took it upon themselves to try and create change. By using many forms of the media, combined with
organized protests, people exposed these issues and informed thousands of Americans of the
conditions that existed. Living conditions were poor, food safety was strictly hazardous, and child
labor played a big part in the Progressive era.
One key aspect that was discussed was living conditions in the late 1800 s and early 1900 s were poor.

Food safety in the late 1800 s and early 1900 s was hazardous, filthy, and unsanitary. The food safety
issue was not thoroughly recognized until Upton Sinclair published his book, The Jungle. The
publishing of The jungle was meant to open America s eyes to the situation of the workers in the
filthy, dangerous Chicago stockyards. Instead, it caused an outrage over the meat packaging. Within
the first few weeks of his book getting published, Theodore Roosevelt received many letters from the
public regarding that the meat packing industry should be more closely watched and regulated. In
Sinclair s book, he stated, there would be meat that had tumbled out on the floor, in the dirt and
sawdust, where the workers had tramped and spit... There would be meat stored in great piles in
rooms. This is showing that the meat was not properly taken care of and the workers simply did not
bother in trying to make it sanitary. Another piece of data that would support this would be, a man
could run his hand over these piles of meat and sweep off handfuls of the dried dung of rats. and This
was no fairy story and no joke; the meat would be shoveled into carts, and the man who did the
shoveling would not trouble to lift out a rat even if he saw one. The workers would feel and see the
dead rodents and not bother in attempting to do anything about

  • 2. Standard Definition Algorithm For A Wired Network Part 1: Question 1 Standard Definition Algorithm Suggested Use WEP A wireless protocol that is intended to deliver the privacy comparable to that of a wired network. RC4 No longer used unless it is for lessons in hacking. Big security flaws and easy to hack. WPA This protocol offers more data encryption than WEP and also offers user authentication. RC4 with TKIP This is used with older devices. But these may still need an update through firmware so they will be compliant. WPA2 This protocol offers CCMP (Counter Cipher Mode with Block Chaining Message Authentication Code Protocol) as the replacement of TKIP. AES Only used in newer devices. (Dulaney Easttom, 2014) (How To Geek, n.d.) Question 2 Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) is an encryption protocol that is included in the IEEE 802.11i standard for wireless LAN networks. It helps provide more encryption security than Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). TKIP uses its algorithms to protect WEP s security flaws and allows the users of older devices to upgrade without replacing any hardware. These algorithms are additional code at the beginning and end to capture and modify WEP. TKIP uses RC4 as its foundation but it also includes four more algorithms to increase strength: cryptographic message integrity check, initialization vector sequencing mechanism, per packet key mixing function, and re keying mechanism. Although, TKIP is used for upgrading security on devices equipped with WEP, it isn t dependable or effective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Catcher in the Rye Essay J.D Salinger s fictional novel The Catcher in the Rye explores ideas of coming of age and challenging society s morals through the life of Holden Caulfield, the young protagonist of the novel. The term coming of age can be defined as when someone reaches an important stage in development and is accepted by a large number of people. The word morals is concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction of right and wrong. Themes such as innocence, isolation and youth reside in the novel, the audience is made aware of Caulfield s view on children s innocence, the isolation he feels and how he perceives adults as phony . Holden Caulfield is a 17 year old adolescent boy that becomes infatuated with protecting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She kept telling him to sit still and behave himself. She was about as kind hearted as a goddam wolf. The simile She was about as kind hearted as a goddam wolf emphasises the similarities between the lady and a wolf, this then positions the reader to become aware of Caulfield s feelings towards adults and the lack of respect . This sense of him having no respect for adults challenges society s moral of respecting your elders is explored throughout the novel and represented through Caulfield s character. In conclusion, J. D Salinger explores ideas and concepts of what it is like to become of age and how society s morals are challenged by adolescents and children. He uses themes such as the innocence of children, the isolation of Caulfield and how the youth perceive adults to represent these ideas. I believe that Salinger effectively explores the ideas of coming of age and challenging society s morals within his novel by using these themes and allows myself as an individual to understand the novel on a deeper ... • 4. Intermodal Surface Transportation Act Of 1991 Case Study The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) was created to better the transportation infrastructure in the United States. One of the main reasons for the act was that it emphasized intermodalism the seamless linking of highway, rail, air, and marine transportation (Schweppe, 2001). The legislation enabled the state and local government to have a greater flexibility in transportation programs such as safety, traffic mitigation and reduced emissions. This has lead to many positive changes in the enhancement of roads and bridges along the intermodal transport system to include historic and scenic improvements. What the legislation did not enable the federal government to be directly involved with innovative changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At present the trucking industry functions on public roads and the railways function as privately owned. Each mode needs to be addressed equally to make improvements. If the government implements or funds a change to a road network it should be done to either add a benefit to the rail system. As innovations are ready to be utilized there may be a need for government assistance in implementation due to the scale of which the transportation modes operate. The nation s railway is the largest in the world due to the amount of land mass it crosses and size of the country. A balance needs to be achieved between the companies that own the transportation companies and the nations end goal that is beneficial to both the public and private sector. The many different trucking and railway companies needs legislature to be in effect on a federal level so each company falls within the guidelines across the country. The private and public sectors need to synchronized their future goals and develop timelines together to reach their end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Poem, The Charge Of The Light Brigade And Dulce Et Decorum... Elizabeth Miller Literary Studies May 8, 2017 Literary Research Paper Tennyson Owen War Poems Their Ideas The poems, The Charge of The Light Brigade and Dulce et Decorum Est, both deal with an idea of war. The writers both have the same viewpoint about war, but the way that they articulate those ideas on paper varies. Through literary devices in the poems, the authors show two different wars, but the same tragic outcome death. These two poems showcase how people can have different outlooks on war, but in the end they all end with the same deadly outcome. These writers, Wilfred Owen and Alfred Lord Tennyson, uses tone, metaphor or repetition, and rhyming and diction to present a more concrete version on their perception of war. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tone that Alfred Lord Tennyson created for this poem has an honorable and celebratory feel to it for those whom were lost. The overall tone of the poem capitalizes on the his idea of war and how we should be acting towards those who have given up themselves to hopefully makes their country better. Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est also created a specific tone in his poem as well. His poem takes on a completely different tone though. In his version of a war piece, Owen is showing us how war is bad and how much he feels that it is wrong, and how we won t like the conclusion that results from them. This war poem, about the First World War, has a more negative look on the actions of war. An example of this tone can be seen in the first stanza. According to the Bloom s Literary Reference Online, The first stanza presents a scene saturated with misery. (Dulce et Decorum Est) Throughout the entire piece Owen gives us the tone of misery, awful challenges, and death all negative feelings. We can see in the last couple of lines of the poem how Owen really felt about war, The old Lie, Dulce et Decorum est / Pro patria mori. (27 28) This roughly translates to it is sweet and right to die for your country. It is a wonderful thing that one could die for their country, the soldiers should be filled with honor to do so. • 6. Stephen Kings Why We Crave Horror Films Essay As I was lying in bed recalling the event happened an hour before I was thinking to myself that I will never look at lightning the same way again. Thunder and lightning was still present in the night sky as I lay there in bed thanking God I was alive and well. Each flash of lightning lit the entire room and each clap of thunder rattled the windows of my hotel room. Lightning can seem much more terrifying when you re up 20,000 ft in the mountains, and the thunder sounds a lot louder too. The sound of nature s fury seemed to slowly descend as the night went on, but my nerves did not. I was still stunned and in shock of being stuck in a lightning storm high in the mountains. As I was standing on the balcony admiring the scenery something finally went wrong, a huge black cloud covered the moon. I soon heard the thunder. It seemed to be nothing to worry about, so I didn t acknowledge it. A few hours later the thunder grew louder and I could see the flashes of lightning headed our way. I went inside to inform my parents of the weather, but they didn t seem to worry about it much until the cloud was almost over the lodge. My family and I left the reception alone while everyone else stayed in cover; they were the smart ones I thought. We left quickly walking fast and practically running toward the gondolas so we wouldn t be stuck on the mountain all night long. By now the storm was close and so was the lightning. The people at the station loaded the four of us into a gondola and we slowly worked our way down the mountain. Hanging in this tiny box of metal by a hook on a wire cable was not the most reassuring thing. I looked out the window hoping to see the ground, but it was too dark. I could barely see the hand in front my own face. Lightning would flash, and all I could make out were the tops of trees. Paranoia overwhelmed me. My breaths seemed to become further and further apart as time slowed. As I was trying to relieve my mind of worst case scenario, a big flash and enormous rumble sounded. We stopped moving. Compromising peace agreements between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) may lead to betrayal. Betrayal, in a sense that the ruling president, which is President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, might put the Bangsamoro people s life in danger. We all know that President Duterte s decisions when it comes to these kinds of problems are somewhat diversed. For instance, last November 3, 2016, President Duterte and MNLF s leader Nur Misuari talked about a Pre Agreement with regards to peace talks. After that we found the we found the weight of the 10 ml of water by subtracting the weight of the water and the cylinder by the weight of only the cylinder. We found the volume of the water by seeing how much the water rises but it did not rise from 10 ml mark because no object or weight was in the water. It is also known as the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge which is named after the Sultan of Kedah. The bridge connects from Batu Kawan on the mainland to Batu Maung on the Penang Island. It has an overall length of 24km and a length over water (displacement) of 16.9km. It is much longer when compared to the Penang First Bridge which only has an overall length of 13.5km. The building of this bridge has cost the government for RM4.5billion. The planning of building the second bridge to link the mainland to the island has been brought up back in the year of 1995 by the 4th Prime Minister which is Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad and also the 3rd Chief Minister of Penang, Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon. Later, Malaysian government unveiled the plan to construct the bridge in August 2006. The project is implemented in the 9th Malaysian Plan. • 11. The Effects Of Drunk Driving On The Road Of Driving Oluwaseyi Isola Prof. Laura Baltuska English 101 015 29 November, 2016 Under the Influence Is Under Arrest What is one of the most evil and deadly acts? Drunk driving? Oh no! These two words together are uncordial behaviors. The crime of driving a vehicle or operating a motorized machine while under the influence of alcohol is totally against the law of the land, but some people still won t stop. Is there any gain in drunk driving than loss of lives, loss of driving privileges, and property vehicles? One third of traffic deaths involve alcohol impaired driving (MADD). Therefore, a behavior that involves a tiny proportion of drivers is one of the key causes of death on the roads. This is an indication that retaining the licenses of drivers involved in drunk driving is not enough to deter drunk driving because some people in this category are still driving even though their licenses have been suspended or revoked. For this reason, it is necessary to adopt more strict measures to deal with the problem. In particular, drunk driving can be prevented through the use of ignition interlock systems and sobriety checkpoints at an individual level while a school based instructional program can help to prevent the problem at a community level. To begin with, drunk driving is a serious menace to Americans on the road, as it contributes to a large number of traffic deaths and injuries. In 2012, for instance, over 10,000 people lost their lives from crashes attributed to drunk driving. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Mentoring For Senior Professional Field Mentoring is an interregnal part of every professional field. Organizations that pursue future improvement and development focus on mentoring by means of inviting internal and external professionals to mentor junior members. Mentoring is a rather complex subject and often takes serious preparation on the part of a mentor. Just being an experienced professional is not enough for becoming a good mentor for juniors. Mentoring is a responsible activity, which requires high levels of patience, professionalism, ethics, enthusiasm, tolerance and skills. Even though most of organizations mention highly developed training programs, in practice mentoring is still a new territory for most of them and often the professionals cannot properly explain what actually makes a good mentor and what efficient mentoring should include. The field of engineering is one of the professional spheres where young specialists are in high demand since there is a growing skills shortage in this field. To be able to function effectively in the future, engineering companies must take the issue of skills and professional scarcity seriously and improve mentoring methods in order to prepare highly qualified workers for the future. The word mentor comes from ancient Greek mythology, Mentor was the name of the teacher of Odysseus s son (Miller 3). Today this word is used to refer to wise and reliable supervisors. First of all, mentoring is based on a relationship between a mentor and a protégé. The success ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. An Analysis Of Flannery O Connor The percentage of people who say they believe in God, pray, frequently go to religious services, embrace minimal religious practices or find their faith meaningful has declined over the last 50 years. A growing group of Americans do not believe in God or any organized faith. In fact, unbelief is even fashionable. Religious conviction is perceived as burdensome or an outdated attitude easily discarded. This is the backdrop upon which 20th century American, Southern Gothic writer, Flannery O Connor, wrote her books and short stories in the 1950s and 1960s. She, in her short stories and books of fiction, did not describe beautiful rooms or people living happily ever after; she wrote about the human condition in the American South and the state of religious conviction. A glacier is a large mass of ice that has been compacted of snow and ice for a long period of time. The ice age we will be focusing on is the Pleistocene era, which was a period that began about 2.5 million years ago and ended about 10,000 years ago (513). This was the most recent ice age where it helped formed our present day lands. During this time, ice covered about 19 million square miles which was about 1/3 of earth s land surface (515). Many parts of all the continents were covered with ice and that had a great effect on our topography due to the glaciers it created. The moraines is a general term for glacier deposited landforms composed of till (526). The features usually are irregular and is normally longer than wider. The three types of moraines in glacial deposition of ice sheets are terminal, recessional and ground. Terminal moraine is the front part of a glacier where all the power is. Although glaciers may appear to stop moving forward, the internal part of the glacier continues to give strength to its movement. Recessional moraine is right behind the terminal moraine where the ice would spread out putting pressure out to the edges in bulges. The last type is called ground moraine and that is when large quantities of till are laid down from underneath the glacier rather than from its edge (527). A feature we see from the glaciers deposition is an elongated hill (527) called a drumlin. When zinc and hydrochloric acid are mixed together, the reaction took place in an evaporating dish that was accompanied by hydrogen gas. Then we measured out the mass of zinc and chlorine in the reaction and calculated the empirical formula of zinc chloride which was ZnCl8. Based on the conservation of mass, we balanced the equation and got Zn(s) + 8 HCl (aq) → ZnCl8 (s) + 4 H2 (g). In the second part of the experiment, we obtained copper wire and sulfur from the instructor. Then we measured out the mass of copper and added proper amount of sulfur to cover the copper wire. During the lab, copper with sulfur was heated, and the reaction was carried out. We saw the blue flame occurred on the crucible. We determined the empirical formula of copper sulfide, which was Cu2S. Then, the equation was balanced easily from the obtained data which was 2Cu + S = Cu2S. Introduction: The purpose of this lab is to become familiar with chemical formulas and how they re obtained. Chemical formulas represent what are produced from a chemical reaction. Compounds composed of molecules are called molecular compounds, which may or may not contain more than one type of atom. • 29. Cigarette Smoking And Its Effects On The Human Body It is widely understood that cigarette smoking carries many serious health risks, especially for cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis and hypertension (Rahman et al. 2007). Studies have shown that cigarettes release over 4000 different chemicals, all of which can wreak havoc on the every organ of the human body, especially the cardiovascular and pulmonary system, when inhaled (Jonas et al., 1992; Sin and Man 2003). Over 200 people die every day from complications due to cigarette smoking in the United States alone, and smoking cigarettes causes an estimated 76% of all vascular disease (Czermin and Waldherr, 2003; Cole et al., 1993). It therefore stands to reason that cigarette smoking and how it specifically effects the human body would be an extremely relevant area of study. It has been consistently shown that cigarette smoking impairs endothelial dependent vasodilation in humans (Ueda et al., 1997; Poredos et al., 1999; Campisi et al. 1998, 1999). It also increases the blood plasma levels of endothelin in both humans and rats (Wright et al., 2001; Goerre et al. 1995; Haak et al., 1994). But until now, researchers have not been able to determine what the effects of increased endothelin levels due to cigarette smoking have on the vascular system, specifically on vascular contractility (Rahman et al., 2007). This is of particular interest because increased endothelin levels have been shown to play a part in atherosclerosis pathogenesis (Haak et. Al, 1994). In this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were certain standards that art schools sort of subscribed to, and some ideals were that art be morally uplifting and of a classic standard. However, there was shift in art with the Romanticism movement, and while romanticism wanted to evoke emotion and used various methods to do so, realist artists wanted to be in there here and now, something that was rather new and forward thinking. With the industrial revolution all around them realists wanted to paint what they saw in everyday life. Charles Baudelaire proclaimed that an artist must be their own time not stuck in the past. Gustave Courbet of course embraced this and painted his uncle s funeral and called it A Burial at Ornans, of course it was rejected for display so he did his own showing. • 37. The Properties Of A Whole ( System ) As stated in my previous paper, change in an organization is often met with resistance, aggression, confusion and most of all misunderstanding. When organizations do not perform adequate due diligence prior to understanding major activities of change, employees become confused because of the level of uncertainty that comes with change, for this reason people undergoing change must have the knowledge of the properties of understanding change. This paper will discuss the properties for understanding change and how these properties interact. The properties of understanding change are: Understand that people are reluctant to change and fear change, change can be successful or fail depending on the mindset of the organization, change is not about or doesn t occur as a matter of resources or intelligence, and also the understanding that the motivation of change can happen by applying both E and O theories, the understanding that continuous change happens in cycle, and finally understanding that change goes through challenges. Russell Ackoff s stated that the essential properties of a whole (system) are the product of the interactions of the parts, not the action of the parts taken separately. Therefore for an organization to be productive it needs to concentrate more on the interaction of the parts working together not separately.
