Mr Darcy Quotes In Pride And Prejudice
It is better to lose your pride with someone you love rather than to lose that someone with your useless
pride. John Ruskin. Had Mr. Darcy heard these words, the love that induced both him and Elizabeth
would have come about much more quickly than it had originally. However, Mr. Darcy had pride and
Elizabeth had a prejudice against him; two walls that prohibited them from understanding each other;
for a while. Beginning with the first time they met, Mr. Darcy had a proud, yet depressing aura about
him. This immediately raised a red flag to Ms. Elizabeth. Father into the evening, Ms. Elizabeth had
the pleasure of hearing Mr. Darcy s feeling towards her. She is tolerable, but not handsome enough to
tempt me.... (Page 8) Upon hearing such words spoken about her, she began to feel prejudice towards
the fine Mr. Darcy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elizabeth later came to Netherfield so that she may see her sister. While visiting her, Mr. Bingley, his
sisters, and Mr. Darcy were conversing. The Bingley sisters went on about her appearance as she
walked to Netherfield in mud. Caroline, who fancied Mr. Darcy, asked him how he felt about her
appearance. She implied that his new appreciation for her eyes must have been put out. Nevertheless,
he contradicted her, saying that the exercise brightened them greatly. When many months had passed,
and Elizabeth found herself in the comforts of her Cousin Mr. Collins home, she was granted with an
almost unwanted surprise. Mr. Darcy had come in hopes to find Elizabeth. After many moments, he
professed his love for her and his want to have her hand in marriage. Blinded by her prejudice, she
refused; striking him down by insulting is pride and using, unbeknownst to her knowledge, lies of his
character. Therefore, feeling embarrassed and angered at her refusal, he left quickly and left Elizabeth

Excerpt From Night, By Coretta Scott King
In our everyday lives we deal with rules being broken. Everyone makes the decision on whether to
break the rules or not. People can make decisions that affect the world around them for better or for
worst. But is there certain rules that should be broken? Rules that are meant to be broken at the time of
injustice, to help others ,and in traditions. Throughout history there has been events that show people
breaking the rules. These events are shown in times of injustice and can catch the attention of others,
which can make a movement to change the rules. In the memoir, Montgomery Boycott by Coretta
Scott King, it shows the time of injustice in the USA and especially in Montgomery.. Mrs. Parks found

In the Excerpt From Night, by Elie Wiesel, it shows the courage of people to help others even if it
breaks rules even in terrible situations because it goes against their morals or their own personal
beliefs. In this situation, the excerpt takes place in the Holocaust. Hey, kid, how old are you? The man
interrogating me was an inmate... Fifteen. No. You re eighteen Then he asked my father, who
answered: I m fifty. No. The man now sounded angry. Not fifty. You re forty. Do you hear? Eighteen
and forty . The inmate knew he would get in trouble if the officers found out that he was changing
people ages. He was changing their ages because if he didn t they would be killed because they would
be seen as useless, changing their ages possibly helped them stay alive by working. Even though
people broke the rules to help others, and change the situation sometimes it s just not worth it. We
must do something. We can t let them kill us like that, like cattle in the slaughterhouse . We must
revolt.. Let the world learn of the existence of Auschwitz ...But the older men begged their sons not to
be foolish . The inmates wanted to revolt for being treated as nothing and be killed like it s game, they
wanted the world to know that they broke the rules to be set free. Their minds soon change as the
older men told them not to because they knew what would happen

Case Study Of Frranquicias And Franchising
1.1.5.1.3 Franquicias / Franchising
Combs J.G. and Castrogiovanni G.J., (1993) argued that a franchise is an organization designed to
allow franchisors to obtain the resources needed to accelerate the growth of the company, with the aim
of reaching a minimum level of efficiency and thus strengthen the brand awareness.
Davies J. (2015, p. 62) adds that a franchise is generally a form of business organization in which a
franchisor as owner of a trademark or trade name conveys to one or more independent entities, the
franchisees, the right to market a product or service, usually within a specified geographic area and
subject to a number of franchisor imposed constraints. The wider franchise system is essentially a

(2000, p. 6) a joint venture is a business partnership in which two or more companies agree to invest
[...] in a particular business activity. The main purpose of many join ventures is to create a strategic
alliance between separate companies with common interests and complementary skills or experience.
A joint venture is a business established abroad in which an international company has equity in a
local company to manage it, but it does not have full power to control all the company (Terpstra et al.
2012). The mixed ventures are joint ventures undertaken with government entities.
Authors state that the objectives of an international joint venture are: to gain access to foreign markets,
to allow R D cooperation to develop new products or to solve supply chain problems. The joint
ventures have as advantage: greater gaining potential as opposed to royalties, greater control over
production and marketing, better feedback from consumers, and more experience in international
marketing.

Essay On The Age Of Wordsworth
The Age of Wordsworth (1798 1832) is considered to have begun with the joint publication of Lyrical
Ballads by the Lake Poets , William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The poetry of this age
witnessed altering of the theme from public and impersonal to subjective. Common people and
common things were given the most importance. Depiction of countryside, rural life, pastoral life and
Nature was common. The subject of the poetry switched from facts, reasons to the world of
imagination, passion, and senses. Imagination is the soul of romantic poetry. Poets employed it to
experience transcendentalism and spirituality. Emotions were the bed rock of romanticism. It took
over reason and logic. Poets talked about the elementary passions of human beings, derived through
the senses eyes, nose, ears. It was marked with super naturalism and was devoid of materialism. They
had a vision of the mystic and mysterious forces whom they called the divine. To complement the
subject of poetry, the language used by the poets was simple and rustic, the one that is spoken by
common people. There was no stereotypical and conventional diction. Poets used various forms of
meter. Rhyme and rhythm wasn t their actual concern, expressing the emotions and ... Show more

Preste, Ne, Chanoun Analysis
Throughout the Middle Ages travel is represented in many different forms and is seen in many
different groups, especially within the world of the Franciscan monks. Constantly on the move, these
mendicant friars faced many trials and tribulations throughout their journeys. The monks were forced
to be constantly on the move, never able to claim a home of their own and were under constant
ridicule from those around them, causing problems and riffs as they went. The poem, Preste, Ne
Monke, Ne Yit Chanoun , written in 1382, outlined the problems mendicants placed on those around
them and warned society of their evils and destructiveness. Preste, Ne Monke, Ne Yit Chanoun

How Did John Lennon Influence Pop Culture
John Lennon (1940 1980)
The 1980s started on a devastating note as John Lennon, who was a songwriter, singer, and co founder
of the Beatles, was assassinated in Manhattan, New York, by a psychotic fan named Mark David
Chapman. John Lennon s albums were very successful as it sought for peace. In his album Imagine ,
he said, Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I m a dreamer, but I m not the only
one. I hope someday you ll join us, and the world will be as one. ( John Lennon Imagine. ). His
albums helped people to overcome the terror that happened during the Vietnam War. The assassination

Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston are examples of pop stars that were influenced by
MTV. The stars started to set trends and fans started to follow. The trends include, fashion, culture,
and language. Even though the MTV helped the pop stars to rise, there are also many other reasons
that the pop stars became a role model. Their talent, ability to take advantage of their fame and public
interest, and the company s ability to market, were the major elements of helping them to escalate to
fame ( The Music of the 1980s ).
MIDI (1983)
In the 1980s, many musical devices were introduced, such as, the MIDI, CD and CD players, and the
Walkman. Also, the 1980s was a period of rapid change of recording devices. MIDI, Musical
Instrument Digital Interface, was introduced in 1983. This device helped to combine and synchronize
different kinds of musical devices. Sequencing devices helped to make the music more rhythmic and
musical. Sequencing devices existed before 1980s, but the devices in the 1980s were much easier,
costless, and efficient. The MIDI shifted how the recordings were made in many different ways.
Usage of MIDI replaced the usage of traditional instruments with pre programmed electronic

Soviet Union s Presence in Eastern Europe Essay
Soviet Union s Presence in Eastern Europe
This paper will introduce the development of Soviet internationalism alongside the development of
Soviet interests in Eastern Europe. It will be argued that the Soviet interests which developed out of
the Wars became fixed alongside the ideology behind internationalism. The legacy of Stalinism
influenced the development of Soviet policy toward Eastern Europe and Soviet internationalism and
the Cold war meant that the Soviet presence in Eastern Europe would persist until Gorbachev. The
Soviets could not consider withdrawing from Eastern Europe so long as they were governed by an
ideology which viewed the world as two distinct and opposing camps.

Stalin s eyes turned toward Eastern Europe and through his dissolution of the Comintern he sought to
make unthreatening appeals to a common Slavic identity. According to D Encausse, The may 15,
1943, decision to dissolve the Comintern which suggested a definitive retreat by the USSR to within
its own borders, in fact signified a more dynamic opening to the external world because it was based
upon a real and growing phenomenon, power (D Encausse, H, 1987, pg. 7). Soviet intentions became
clearer when the iron curtain was realised at Yalta and at Potsdam. However, Stalin did not wish to
move the Soviet Union into Europe, he wished to isolate Eastern Europe outside of Western influence
and under the control of the Soviet powers based in Moscow.
Stalin s aims in Eastern Europe epitomise Soviet aims because of the fact that his policies set the tone
for Soviet policy toward Eastern Europe and his policies were still influencing Soviet Society when
Gorbachev came to power. His alienation of Eastern Europe from the West was both ideological and
practical in nature. Stalin wished to undermine Slavic western sentiments and construct and autarkic
socialist regime governed from Moscow. The shift in the traditional site of socialist power away from
Germany was accompanied by a manipulation of the theoretical

The Population Of Canada And The Proportion Of Seniors
The population of Canada regularly changes in pattern and growth and the proportion of seniors in
Canada is increasing (Refer to Appendix A). The life expectancy of Canadians has increased greatly
for both males and females. The number of seniors peaked in the year 2013 to 5.4 million which is
approximately 15.3% of the total population (1). It is also projected that by 2056, 25% of the
population of Canada (13 million) will be aged 65 years and older (Refer to Appendix B) (2).

Income is a crucial indicator of the given standard of living of seniors and it also directly impacts their
health. Currently in Canada, low income among seniors is at a record low. This has been largely
attributed to the Canada s retirement income system, particularly the various pension plans and private
savings. In 2003, the most susceptible to low income are single seniors, especially women, with a rate
of 18.9% (155,000), compared with 14.7% (46,000) for senior men (4).
In general, seniors are vulnerable to a range of chronic health conditions such as diabetes, cancer,
chronic heart diseases, arthritis and Alzheimer s disease which adversely influence their quality of life.
These diseases also increase demands on the healthcare system (5). It was reported in 2012 that
approximately 85% of seniors aged 65 to 79 years and about 90% of seniors aged over 80 years have
at least one chronic condition (6). In 2004, about 1.7% of the total Canadian labour force were seniors.
The number of Canadian seniors aged 65 or over participating in the labour force was approximately
300,000 (287,000 of them are employed and 9,000 actively looking for work) (7). This impacts the
health of seniors because the more the number of seniors participating in the workforce, the more
physically active and healthier they are. Working also provides an additional means of income besides
their pension funds which would help improve the quality of life.

The Current Rating System in the United States Essay

The Current Rating System in the United States
The current content rating system in use for film, the MPAA, is the only content rating system that is
legally enforced in the United States. For this reason, the system has caused controversy. Many have
claimed that the system is unbalanced, as the MPAA bases the level of appropriate content for all
people in the United States off of the opinions of an unidentified council of people over the age of
forty (Jenkins). The stance on how the system s effectiveness is a relative stance, however, the
secondhand effects of the system are obvious and existing today. Decisions have been made by film
distribution companies that have affected the way films with objectionable ... Show more content on

This type of butterfly effect that the rating system has on films is evident: the attempt to block off
certain age limits to harsh types of content has ultimately put pressure on artists to limit types of ways
to tell a story in mainstream film. In the interview with filmmaker Kirby Dick on this subject, the
interviewer asks him about the topic of sexuality in film, MPAA s stance on sexuality, and how Dick
represented these ideas presented in his film. Dick stated,
Allison Anders makes the very interesting point that in some ways the ratings system is more
restrictive of sexuality now than it was in the Sixties and Seventies. I think there are a number of
reasons. Perhaps to some degree society has shifted slightly. Film studios were making some money
from films that were more sexually provocative, like Midnight Cowboy. But, then again, you have to
realize that the studios benefit from the system s coming down hard on films, especially on
independent films about adult sexuality. To begin with, who makes those films? Independents and
foreign filmmakers make those films, and that s the studios competition. So they restrict it. It s not
much competition, but it does make a difference. Jt also makes it appear like the Rating Jioard is
doing its job as censors, as raters, doing their job, and doesn t pay attention to the fact that all these
films about violence are slipping through unencumbered by a rating. And the studio filmmakers are

The movie of focus, People vs. Larry Flynt , is a film by Milos Forman which stars Woody Harrelson
as Flynt. Larry Flynt is the president and publisher of Hustler magazine. Hustler is sort of the Mad
magazine of written pornography which was started in the early 1970 s. The interest for me was seeing
how this movie depicts the sexual exploitation of women in the sex industry with a specific look at
how the material devalues women.
The movie starts out in 1952 with a young Larry Flynt along with his younger brother peddling

Unsure of my opinion on the correlation of pornography and rape, I considered two articles: (1)
Egalitarian, sexist, and aggressive sexual materials: attitude effects and viewer responses; and (2) Men
s enjoyment of explicit erotica: effects of person specific attitudes and gender specific norms. In the
first article, research on sexual attitudes was conducted among a sample of college students in
Syracuse University. Hypothesis one was that both sexist and sexually aggressive scenes would
increase acceptance of sexist attitudes; Hypthothesis two was that only sexually aggressive scenes
would increase acceptance of rape myths and sexual coercion (Bauserman, 1988). Study one was
conducted to identify the ways in which the sample described what sexism and sexual aggression
meant to the sample. The second study examined change in attitude. Hypothesis one was weakly
supported. Hypothesis two was totally rejected. This

(Conklin and Keely, 2007). It initially protects against tumourigenesis; but neoplastic cells cause
changes and recruit various other cell lines with a multitude of functions, forming a tumour micro
environment (TME). This is defined as a heterogeneous population of cells consisting of the tumor
bulk plus supporting cells (Bussard et al., 2006). The tumour cells recruit the stroma cells and cause a
reactive phenotype, known as tumor associated stromal cells (TASCs).
Mesenchymal stem cells, endothelial cells, pericytes, fibroblasts and various other immune cells are
all components of the TME,each with specific functions. When activated, they take on a similar in
function to those found in inflammation and wound healing and cause fibroblast infiltration,
recruitment of immune cells, remodelling of the extracellular matrix. This is why cancer has been
likened to a wound that never heals, the tumour stroma being chronically activated and promoting
growth and angiogenesis (Dvorak, 1984).
The rapid proliferation of tumour cells soon exhausts the existing vascular supply and brings about a
hypoxic environment in the TME (Coussens and Werb, 2005). Endothelial and stromal cells form a

Psychopathy In The Cask Of Amontillado By Edgar Allan Poe
An FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin contends, Psychopathy is the most dangerous of the personality
disorders. To understand it, one must know some fundamental principles about personality.
Individuals personalities represent who they are; they result from genetics and upbringing and reflect
how persons view the world and think the world views them. In The Cask of Amontillado , Poe directs
attention to Montresor who is a man that is tormented by Fortunato sick pranks. Little to be know is

The Natural Radioactivity Of Soil Samples
Abstract The concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K are measured in the material collected from
two locations. The collected materials are tested using gamma ray spectrometry. The activity
concentration of the naturally occurring radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th and 40K in building material it
varies from 12.6 to 121.4, 13.6 to 142 and from 69.5 to 620.6 Bqkg_1, respectively. The radium

Rocks and soils contribute considerably to indoor and outdoor exposure to the environmental

radioactivity in the environment and knowledge of these concentrations provides useful information in
the monitoring of environment radioactivity (kessaratikoon and Awaekechi, 2008) [2]. Even though
these radionuclides are extensively distributed, their concentrations have been proven to depend on the

The Period Of World War II Essay
The period from World War II till the present has been widely regarded as a period of an immense
amount of social progress. The years following saw vast acceptance of people of various tenets of
faith and colors of skin. One can argue that for a period of time America post WWII, there was
growing amount of acceptance amongst the population, especially with the election of the first
Catholic President, John F. Kennedy. The sentiment of allowing other people continued as quotas of
allowing people from other countries diminished with the Immigration and Nationality Services Act of
1965 opened up availabilities for Hindus and Muslims to enter the country. With the existing
demographics in this early phases of the post WWII United States, America was definitely making
strides towards becoming a more pluralistic nation, continuing a trend from even before WWII.
Things began to take a reverse shift in the late 1970s as counterculture left white conservative
evangelists thinking that the new generations were preventing their stronghold of the country. America
has been a less pluralistic nation ever since the Reagan Revolution and the rightward shift of the white
demographic and the new religious right, the attacks on 9/11, and just recently with the election of
Donald Trump. All of these events have elicited feelings of subliminal prejudice against minority
religious sects, such as the of the Islamic faith. Scholars tend to agree that progress was being made

Essay on Voltaire s Candide
Everything happens for the best, in this the best of all possible worlds. This is a statement that can be
found many times within Voltaire s Candide. Voltaire rejected Lebitizian Optimism, using Candide as
a means for satirizing what was wrong with the world, and showing that, in reality, this is not the best
of all possible worlds.
The philosophy of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz, which Voltaire called optimism, is one of the main
themes of Candide. The two main points of Leibnitzian philosophy are that God is beneficent, and that
in creating the world, He created the best possible one. Leibnitz did not argue that the world was
perfect or that evil was non existent, but thanks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Voltaire does most of his satirizing through the character of Dr. Pangloss, an unconditional follower of
Leibnitz s philosophy and Candide s mentor. Pangloss ramblings are not personal attacks on Leibnitz,
but in some way represent the thoughts of a typical optimist. He is a very hopeful character in the
story because he refuses to accept bad. When Candide encounters Pangloss after a long period of time,
Pangloss explains how he was almost hanged, then dissected, then beaten. Candide asks the
philosopher if he still believes that everything is for the best, and Pangloss replies that he still held his
original views. Voltaire frequently exaggerates his point on optimism; there is nobody in reality who is
positive about everything all the time, especially after so many horrible experiences. One could say
that Pangloss is irrational and idiotic, and Voltaire tries to depict how inexplicable his beliefs are
which do not measure up to reality.
Another example of how Voltaire ridicules Pangloss optimistic philosophy is the mention of the
Lisbon earthquake and fire. Even though the disastrous earthquake took over 30,000 lives, Pangloss
still upheld his philosophical optimism by stating, quot; For all that is for the best...It is impossible that
things should not be other than they are; for everything is right. (26) quot; The disaster in Lisbon
affected Voltaire s life so much that he wrote the Poem

Many struggles but I believe if you I work hard, it will paid off in the future. Logic or Intuition
Decisions are important and hard to make. People maybe decide quickly without thinking about the
consequences but on the other half, they will think about it back and forth then they will reply.
Christopher makes his point that people rely on their intuition so much, but I m kindly disagree with
him because it usually based on the ages. As people get older, they become more aware of they re
doing. Intuition usually evolves in easy decision, without any reasons they just decide as quickly as
possible to get out of that problem. I can t say which one people rely on more because they are
different and they solve the problem with their way. Did I used mostly logic or intuition to make the
decision? My answer is I used mostly logic to decide something. I feel like to have the comfortable
feeling, I should think back and forth, then use reasons so I don t have to hold any consequences later.
The way I solve the problem should comfortable others too because I don t want anyone get in trouble.
One time, I had to decide the money I have left, should I buy my favorite shoes or birthday gift for my

Themes Of The Outsiders
Sammy Davis Jr. once said You always have two choices: your commitment versus your fears . This
means you can chose to be scared and back off, or commit to face your fears without worrying about
what the consequences or the result will be when you make this choice. This relates to the choices
made in The Outsiders, because Johnny faces his fears face on, not backing off and instead,
committing. He does this to save the ones who he most cares about the most. Correspondingly, the
theme of The Outsiders is that committing and making choices that you may not like, may have a
beneficial, long term effect on the people around you. To begin with, Johnny stabs Bob, the Soc, with
his switchblade because Bob was about to brutally beat Johnny up with his rings on his bare hands and
his hurtful words from his crude, deceptive mouth. Johnny also stabs Bob because Bob s gang was
trying to drown Ponyboy, so if he was able to stab Bob then his nasty and cruel gang would leave
Ponyboy alone. When Johnny stabs Bob, his plan ends up working and the other socs runaway
because they got frightened at the sight of Johnny stabbing and killing their what used to be alive
friend. I killed him, he said slowly. I killed that boy. (56) Johnny says this to Ponyboy as he awakens;
coughing up water from nearly being drowned by Bob s gang. When the socs runaway they go and try
to find police. Because of this, Johnny and Ponyboy now have to run away in order for them not to be
caught and punished by

California State Budget
The state of California along with many other states has gone through periods of recessions. The
major difference between California and other states is the difference how California manages the
state budget. The California governor creates a budget and is sent to the Department of Finance. The
Department then modifies the budget according to the likings of the governor. The governor can have
a deficit but must fit the deficit into next years budget. A deficit refers to a shortage of funds and can
create problems when creating the state budget. If there is a surplus (abundant amount of revenue) in
the budget then the governor has the power to create programs that are politically advantageous.
During times of financial crisis the process of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During Governor Pete Wilson term in the 1990s his main goal was to eliminate the huge budget gap.
Many of the changes that were done in the budget involved taxes and expenditures. During this period
of time, although there was not a complete unified of government, most democrats and republicans
were able to negotiate with each other and were able to have majority vote to raise taxes and its deficit
rules were also unclear at the time. Both situations are similar despite time differences. Similarities
include a strong unified government, and weak anti deficit rules. Governor Pete Wilson was able to
have both parties agree to cut back on programs and increase revenue by increasing taxes. The only
difference that can occur and has occurred is the response from the citizens. During the 1990s
investments in technology came out successful therefore having more people paying more taxes. If the
citizens today were to be given a vote to increase taxes, most would not agree. This is because the
state of the economy reflects largely on how California becomes affected. During Wilson s term,
technology was a new concept and there were many successful investments that increased many
citizens income. Both situations are similar and can become a valuable lesson to learn

Analysis Of Hidden Figures By Margot Lee Shetterly
The novel Hidden Figures, written by Margot Lee Shetterly consists of a prologue, twenty three
captivating and without a doubt inspiring chapters, and a reflective epilogue, detailing the lives of
Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson. For me, the most inspirational and
resonating passage is found in the epilogue. As Shetterly is reflecting on Katherine Johnson s
aeronautical achievements she questions, What could be more American than the story of a gifted little
girl who counted her way from White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, to the stars? (Shetterly 251).
Shetterly s rhetorical question comes at perfect timing, as I will soon begin my undergraduate

The Symbolism Of The Conch

The Symbolism of the Conch
For centuries philosophers, have debated the question of whether man is naturally evil. William
Golding poses this question in his novel Lord of the Flies. Set on a tropical island during World War
II, the novel begins when schoolboys from Great Britain are being flown to safety and their plane is
shot down. No adults survive, and the boys are left to control themselves and get rescued. The boys
find a conch, which is a symbol of power and authority to whoever has it in his possession. William
Golding uses symbolism in the form of the conch to represent the concept of society. Throughout the
course of the novel, the boys developing relationship with the conch ... Show more content on

When the boys first start a fire on top of the mountain, Piggy holds the conch and attempts to speak.
But Jack scolds him by saying, The conch doesn t count on top of the mountain, so you shut up
(Golding 39). Boys like Jack begin to place restrictions on the conch and lose respect for it and for one
another. Then one day at an assembly, Jack places even less importance on the conch excluding more
of the boys and weakening the equal order and authority that the conch provides. Jack says, We don t
need the conch anymore. We know who ought to say things...It s time some people knew they ve got
to keep quiet and leave deciding things to the rest of us (Golding 92). Jack s statement here clearly
connects the end of the conch to a change in the social order. Jack is slowly becoming a power hungry
dictator, and the orderly influence of the conch is replaced by man s evil desires. In the end, the conch
loses significance to all but Piggy, and most of the boys turn into evil savages. Piggy tells Ralph to call
an assembly, and Ralph only laughs. Finally, after Piggy glasses are stolen, Piggy tells Ralph, Blow
the conch, blow as loud as you can. The forest echoed; and birds lifted, crying out of the treetops, as
on that first morning ages ago (Golding 154). Piggy believes that the authority of the conch will once
again bring the boys together, but only four boys meet in this assembly. The rest have joined Jack s
savage tribe.

  • 2. Mr Darcy Quotes In Pride And Prejudice It is better to lose your pride with someone you love rather than to lose that someone with your useless pride. John Ruskin. Had Mr. Darcy heard these words, the love that induced both him and Elizabeth would have come about much more quickly than it had originally. However, Mr. Darcy had pride and Elizabeth had a prejudice against him; two walls that prohibited them from understanding each other; for a while. Beginning with the first time they met, Mr. Darcy had a proud, yet depressing aura about him. This immediately raised a red flag to Ms. Elizabeth. Father into the evening, Ms. Elizabeth had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Darcy s feeling towards her. She is tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me.... Elizabeth later came to Netherfield so that she may see her sister. While visiting her, Mr. Bingley, his sisters, and Mr. Darcy were conversing. The Bingley sisters went on about her appearance as she walked to Netherfield in mud. Caroline, who fancied Mr. Darcy, asked him how he felt about her appearance. She implied that his new appreciation for her eyes must have been put out. Nevertheless, he contradicted her, saying that the exercise brightened them greatly. When many months had passed, and Elizabeth found herself in the comforts of her Cousin Mr. Collins home, she was granted with an almost unwanted surprise. Mr. Darcy had come in hopes to find Elizabeth. After many moments, he professed his love for her and his want to have her hand in marriage. Blinded by her prejudice, she refused; striking him down by insulting is pride and using, unbeknownst to her knowledge, lies of his character. Therefore, feeling embarrassed and angered at her refusal, he left quickly and left Elizabeth alone with her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People can make decisions that affect the world around them for better or for worst. But is there certain rules that should be broken? Rules that are meant to be broken at the time of injustice, to help others ,and in traditions. Throughout history there has been events that show people breaking the rules. These events are shown in times of injustice and can catch the attention of others, which can make a movement to change the rules. In the Excerpt From Night, by Elie Wiesel, it shows the courage of people to help others even if it breaks rules even in terrible situations because it goes against their morals or their own personal beliefs. In this situation, the excerpt takes place in the Holocaust. Hey, kid, how old are you? The man interrogating me was an inmate... Fifteen. No. You re eighteen Then he asked my father, who answered: I m fifty. No. The man now sounded angry. Not fifty. You re forty. Do you hear? Eighteen and forty . The inmate knew he would get in trouble if the officers found out that he was changing people ages. He was changing their ages because if he didn t they would be killed because they would be seen as useless, changing their ages possibly helped them stay alive by working. Even though people broke the rules to help others, and change the situation sometimes it s just not worth it. We must do something. We can t let them kill us like that, like cattle in the slaughterhouse . We must revolt.. Let the world learn of the existence of Auschwitz ...But the older men begged their sons not to be foolish . The inmates wanted to revolt for being treated as nothing and be killed like it s game, they wanted the world to know that they broke the rules to be set free. Case Study Of Frranquicias And Franchising 1.1.5.1.3 Franquicias / Franchising Combs J.G. and Castrogiovanni G.J., (1993) argued that a franchise is an organization designed to allow franchisors to obtain the resources needed to accelerate the growth of the company, with the aim of reaching a minimum level of efficiency and thus strengthen the brand awareness. • 5. Essay On The Age Of Wordsworth The Age of Wordsworth (1798 1832) is considered to have begun with the joint publication of Lyrical Ballads by the Lake Poets , William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The poetry of this age witnessed altering of the theme from public and impersonal to subjective. Common people and common things were given the most importance. Depiction of countryside, rural life, pastoral life and Nature was common. The subject of the poetry switched from facts, reasons to the world of imagination, passion, and senses. Imagination is the soul of romantic poetry. Poets employed it to experience transcendentalism and spirituality. Emotions were the bed rock of romanticism. It took over reason and logic. Poets talked about the elementary passions of human beings, derived through the senses eyes, nose, ears. It was marked with super naturalism and was devoid of materialism. They had a vision of the mystic and mysterious forces whom they called the divine. To complement the subject of poetry, the language used by the poets was simple and rustic, the one that is spoken by common people. There was no stereotypical and conventional diction. It will be argued that the Soviet interests which developed out of the Wars became fixed alongside the ideology behind internationalism. The legacy of Stalinism influenced the development of Soviet policy toward Eastern Europe and Soviet internationalism and the Cold war meant that the Soviet presence in Eastern Europe would persist until Gorbachev. According to D Encausse, The may 15, 1943, decision to dissolve the Comintern which suggested a definitive retreat by the USSR to within its own borders, in fact signified a more dynamic opening to the external world because it was based upon a real and growing phenomenon, power (D Encausse, H, 1987, pg. 7). Soviet intentions became clearer when the iron curtain was realised at Yalta and at Potsdam. However, Stalin did not wish to move the Soviet Union into Europe, he wished to isolate Eastern Europe outside of Western influence and under the control of the Soviet powers based in Moscow. Stalin s aims in Eastern Europe epitomise Soviet aims because of the fact that his policies set the tone for Soviet policy toward Eastern Europe and his policies were still influencing Soviet Society when Gorbachev came to power. Income is a crucial indicator of the given standard of living of seniors and it also directly impacts their health. Currently in Canada, low income among seniors is at a record low. This has been largely attributed to the Canada s retirement income system, particularly the various pension plans and private savings. In 2003, the most susceptible to low income are single seniors, especially women, with a rate of 18.9% (155,000), compared with 14.7% (46,000) for senior men (4). In general, seniors are vulnerable to a range of chronic health conditions such as diabetes, cancer, chronic heart diseases, arthritis and Alzheimer s disease which adversely influence their quality of life. These diseases also increase demands on the healthcare system (5). It was reported in 2012 that approximately 85% of seniors aged 65 to 79 years and about 90% of seniors aged over 80 years have at least one chronic condition (6). In 2004, about 1.7% of the total Canadian labour force were seniors. The number of Canadian seniors aged 65 or over participating in the labour force was approximately 300,000 (287,000 of them are employed and 9,000 actively looking for work) (7). The Current Rating System in the United States Essay English 122 12 1 11 The Current Rating System in the United States The current content rating system in use for film, the MPAA, is the only content rating system that is legally enforced in the United States. For this reason, the system has caused controversy. Many have claimed that the system is unbalanced, as the MPAA bases the level of appropriate content for all people in the United States off of the opinions of an unidentified council of people over the age of forty (Jenkins). The stance on how the system s effectiveness is a relative stance, however, the secondhand effects of the system are obvious and existing today. This type of butterfly effect that the rating system has on films is evident: the attempt to block off certain age limits to harsh types of content has ultimately put pressure on artists to limit types of ways to tell a story in mainstream film. In the interview with filmmaker Kirby Dick on this subject, the interviewer asks him about the topic of sexuality in film, MPAA s stance on sexuality, and how Dick represented these ideas presented in his film. Dick stated, Allison Anders makes the very interesting point that in some ways the ratings system is more restrictive of sexuality now than it was in the Sixties and Seventies. I think there are a number of reasons. Perhaps to some degree society has shifted slightly. Film studios were making some money from films that were more sexually provocative, like Midnight Cowboy. But, then again, you have to realize that the studios benefit from the system s coming down hard on films, especially on independent films about adult sexuality. To begin with, who makes those films? Independents and foreign filmmakers make those films, and that s the studios competition. So they restrict it. It s not much competition, but it does make a difference. Jt also makes it appear like the Rating Jioard is doing its job as censors, as raters, doing their job, and doesn t pay attention to the fact that all these films about violence are slipping through unencumbered by a rating. This is defined as a heterogeneous population of cells consisting of the tumor bulk plus supporting cells (Bussard et al., 2006). The tumour cells recruit the stroma cells and cause a reactive phenotype, known as tumor associated stromal cells (TASCs). Mesenchymal stem cells, endothelial cells, pericytes, fibroblasts and various other immune cells are all components of the TME,each with specific functions. Voltaire rejected Lebitizian Optimism, using Candide as a means for satirizing what was wrong with the world, and showing that, in reality, this is not the best of all possible worlds. The philosophy of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz, which Voltaire called optimism, is one of the main themes of Candide. Voltaire does most of his satirizing through the character of Dr. Pangloss, an unconditional follower of Leibnitz s philosophy and Candide s mentor. Pangloss ramblings are not personal attacks on Leibnitz, but in some way represent the thoughts of a typical optimist. He is a very hopeful character in the story because he refuses to accept bad. When Candide encounters Pangloss after a long period of time, Pangloss explains how he was almost hanged, then dissected, then beaten. Candide asks the philosopher if he still believes that everything is for the best, and Pangloss replies that he still held his original views. Voltaire frequently exaggerates his point on optimism; there is nobody in reality who is positive about everything all the time, especially after so many horrible experiences. One could say that Pangloss is irrational and idiotic, and Voltaire tries to depict how inexplicable his beliefs are which do not measure up to reality. Another example of how Voltaire ridicules Pangloss optimistic philosophy is the mention of the Lisbon earthquake and fire. Set on a tropical island during World War II, the novel begins when schoolboys from Great Britain are being flown to safety and their plane is shot down. In the end, the conch loses significance to all but Piggy, and most of the boys turn into evil savages. Piggy tells Ralph to call an assembly, and Ralph only laughs. Finally, after Piggy glasses are stolen, Piggy tells Ralph, Blow the conch, blow as loud as you can. The forest echoed; and birds lifted, crying out of the treetops, as on that first morning ages ago (Golding 154). Piggy believes that the authority of the conch will once again bring the boys together, but only four boys meet in this assembly. The rest have joined Jack s savage tribe. ...
