Martin Luther King Jr. And Malcolm X Essay
Without Martin Luther King, there is no Malcolm X. Without Malcolm X, there is no Martin Luther
King. There couldn t have been one without the other. They were complete opposites; they were two
of the most different men. Nevertheless, they were fighting for the same thing. They were fighting for
the civil rights of African Americans in a country thought to have been based on freedom and equality
. These two men were brave enough to stand up for what they believed in, for what was right. They
were brave enough to take on the weight of the responsibility and burdens they were about endure to
make what was wrong, right. Equality and fairness among all types of people. Martin Luther King Jr.
and Malcolm X are probably the two best known African American leaders of the last century. Since
their deaths in the 60 s no one has been able to fill the shoes that these men wore in striving for the
civil rights of African Americans. Both men were ministers and also victims of assassination. They
became famous around the same time but, they believed in very different styles of going about how
they planned on fighting for these rights. King was a peaceful man. He didn t believe in violence, he
hoped for a day where black and white men could one day call one another brothers. Malcolm X
wanted African Americans to be able to take control of their own lives, by any means necessary. He
was known for having believed that violence could solve problems like these. These two men,

Examples Of The Greatest Entertainment
America s Greatest Entertainment
America today is a world completely driven by entertainment. Our lives are surrounded by it each and
every day. Entertainment could be anything from TV, movies, music, social media and the internet to
skydiving, mini golfing and paintball. Since there is so many different forms of entertainment, and the
want for it is so demanding, competitors are always trying to find a way to one up one another. One
classic form of entertainment that seems to be bringing people back to play, is laser tag. Many
different entertainment places offer laser tag but two seem to outshine the rest, Laser Quest and Main
Event. Laser Quest has a futuristic arena that is unmatched. They are in ownership of the best
equipment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Laser quest gives you the ability to select you very own codename. This codename could be anything
from your real name to your favorite superhero. This codename is tied to whichever pack you select
and adds to the fun and entertainment of laser tag. At Main Event, all of the names are preselected and
assigned limiting your imagination and creativity. After a quick game of laser tag at Main Event you
are left with a leaderboard of all the scores of the last mission, you get to see how you ranked amongst
opponents which can either be quite satisfying or, depending on how you did, disappointing. At Laser
Quest, you are offered that same opportunity, but not only that, everyone receives a personalized
scorecard that lets them know how they did. This scorecard shows everyone that you tagged, everyone
that tagged you, where exactly you tagged or were tagged, and how many lasers you fired. Laser
Quest has the best equipment around and blows Main Event out of the water. Laser Quest creates a
sense of competitiveness while maintaining a safe environment. Laser Quest has its own rewards
program. You register your account with your codename and it ranks you across not only the people at
Laser Quest but it ranks you against questors across the world. People are constantly battling their way
to the very top. Laser Quest seems to be all fun and games but they actually host professional laser

Causes Of Global Involvement And World War I
Global Involvements and World War I, 1902 1920
World War I began in Europe in 1914 when Germany and Austria Hungary went to war with Britain,
France, and Russia. WWI lasted from 1914 1918 and more than 16 million people were dead
(retrieved from history.com). There were immediate causes from WWI. Militarism began and the
nation started building a bigger, smarter and faster armed forces. Alliances were formed; the
agreement of two of more nations trusted one another. Nationalism also became very popular. Men
and women were developing more pride within America. Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated on 28
June 1914, and led to a chain reaction or world changing events (retrieved from history.com). The race
for world power was the main target and countries were determined at all cost to own the world. Men
were being killed by the thousands in sacrifice for world power and freedom. ... Show more content on

The ultimate reason for America entering the war was a German submarine sank the Lusitania by
using U boats. The Lusitania was a passenger ship caring war supplies for allied powers from the
United States, including explosives and munitions. On April 1917 the United States declared war on
Germany. Should the United States become involved? We were already trying to help England and the
Germans sank the help. I personally feel we were already involved at that point. I am glad we did
enter the war or we all might have been serving or serving under the Bundesflagge. Americans were
outraged by the sinking of the ship and was ready to fight Germans due to their actions against the
Lusitania. If the president didn t declare war and support the American people, who knows what

Our Dependence On The Electronic Tools
The way in which we store, process, and retrieve information, in other words, our schemas, has been
altered by the use of the web. Our dependence on the electronic tools we interact with on a daily basis
may have altered how we communicate what we have learned to others. The traditional manner of
structuring argument may have been replaced by a more diffuse manner that parallels the format of
web content (Rusciano Xia, 2013). Our knowledge structure has moved from print based to web based
(Rusciano Xia, 2013) and our use of the web has moved the way our knowledge is organized and
shared (Rusciano Xia, 2013). The traditional form of knowledge is in an indexical linear structure,
which ...has formed the basis for the creation of writing, and reached maturity in the linear visual
space of the printing press; it remains the core of contemporary knowledge dissemination and
acquisition (Rusciano Xia, 2013). The web, however, works in an entirely different manner. ...this
structure through the web centers on the concept of an associative system of organizing and presenting
information that is nonsequential and open ended (Rusciano Xia, 2013). While the Internet is still a
fairly new invention, it is not an entirely new concept. Vannevar Bush had a big vision in 1945 of what
the power of machines could do for organizing and retrieving information. He dreamt up a device,
which he called the memex machine. Bush s imaginative machine allows for the entire body of human

Dysart Speech In Equus By Peter Shaffer
In the play, Equus, by Peter Shaffer, Dysart speaks to both the large in the theatre and the smaller one
on stage about his concerns. There the concerns that he addresses are that he feels as if he is lost and
cannot reach his goals, like a bit forbids it, and [his] own basic force...is too little to overcome it.(18)
Dysart is a commendable psychiatrist who works in a psychiatric hospital, and he is not completely .
Dysarts initial speech has several effects such a establishing Dysart as a character, the speech also
results in the establishment of the dramatic features of the play as a whole, for example, conflicts and
theme. Dysarts speech has a great effect on the play, specifically Dysart s character. His speech

The internal conflict that Dysart deals with is with himself and deciding whether taking away the
passion and life from his patients that he envies for is fair or not. This then ties into the the theme of
normality, because by taking his patient s faith aways like Alan s he is taking away their originality.
Although Dysart is primarily focusing on Alan as his patient throughout the entirety of the play, the
underlying story in the play is about Dysart trying to find himself, like Alan already has, even if it is

Essay On Frank Romero
A Famous artist named Frank Romero painted a mural in 1984 in the city of Los Angeles he named
this mural Going to the Olympics. In the mural he tries to show the people of Los Angels what they
are known for, in the mural he paints cars with hearts on top to representing that the people of L.A.
love their cars, showing palm trees in between each car. On top he paints what you always see or can
do in L.A he paint a horse, goodyear blimp, men wresting, typical thing that people do in L.A. The
color choices he uses are bright vivid colors try to described Los Angeles and a big bright colorful
city.
In the the painting Romero tries to tell the viewers that one thing that everybody in Los Angeles cares
about is their cars. We know he tries to tell us this because what mostly pops out in the painting is the
cars and the giant heart on top of each car. The colors that Romero has chosen for his painting give a
certain type of mood to the viewers. When I first looked at the painting it gave me a bit of happiness
because his painting does really represent Los Angeles.
Frank Romero had officially finished the mural in 1984. Showing the people of Los Angeles what we

because they removed the mural without permission. The city could have avoided all this by just

The Pay Gap Between Men And Women
The pay gap between men and women has become quite a topic today. The difference in pay are very
common now in many career paths where men and women are doing the same work amount. It is rare
to think that when men and women are performing the same task and are just as qualified as each
other that they would get paid the same. As the wage gap is being discussed more, the question is why
do men and women have different wages when they are working the same job. While it seems that
men don t have to take as much time off from work or may work more, we have to look at it from
Women s viewpoints also. Women and Men should be paid equally for the work that they perform.
However, if a Man is working a in a factory or any other job that has them constantly lifting things
and a woman works there and they can t do the same as the man can then, the man should receive
more pay. Women and Men should have the same pay unless they are not performing the same task.
In his article Gender pay gap widens despite AfC , The nursing standard talks about the reasons why
men get paid more in nursing than women. Nursing Standard states that women are more likely to take
career breaks and work part time than men (Nursing Standard 1).
Women get paid less because they are more likely to work part time and take career breaks than men
are. How is this fair to women that have to work for a living and already have their careers and do not
plan on taking a break. This pre judged pay wage for

He only now is trying to modify his ideas on policies that many in his party have suggested for many

appealing to so many Republicans that are too unsure about him? The real problem is that he
campaigned on many never pitched ideas by someone on the campaign trail which garnered support
from those on the far right in the conservative party. By changing those policies now could hurt him in
a number of ways. 1. Those that supported him for those extreme policies might become disappointed
at these changes (if he makes too many). Those who now support him seem to like his quite unique
direction for the country. Granted, many of them support him because

Essay on The Failure of the Spanish Armada
The Failure of the Spanish Armada The Armada could have succeeded the plan was simple and could
have been effective. The Spanish had the strongest army in Europe and the English defences were not
exactly good. The plan was very simple, but could have been deadly if it had worked. The main
reasons for it not working out were the communication problems. The messenger ships travelled the
same speed, as the Armada so they were nearly useless and the communication between Parma s army
and the Armada were not good. On top of all of this the Armada had received message that Parma s
army was not ready when they were at Calais, which caused a big problem for the Spanish.
Communication was not the only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the English sent in their fireships the problems started, the Armada s formation had broken up
and the English were coming in for the attack. Luckily he managed to keep himself out of a fight. The
Armada was sailing in the wind and was going to be run aground, they couldn t turn round because
they were being followed by the English. The wind changed and they thought they were saved. During
this time the Duke s advisors all persuaded Medina to surrender to the English instead of running
aground. Medina Sidonia decided to wait and when the wind changed direction he decided that his
first priority was to the safe keeping of the Armada. The wind would have made it difficult to sail in
the Channel, on the other hand the way that he went he lost about 18 ships overnight, because of the
storms. By the time the last ship got back to Spain there were only 63 ships left. The English attack at
Calais did cause the Spanish to fail one of their orders, to keep in the crescent formation and it caused
them to fail there main objective... pick up Parma s Army. The army were nearly ready but the English
managed to get the Spanish out of the port and into sea using fireships that made the Spanish think
that we had hell burners, from here they started to start a huge battle and the army was unable to get
picked up because of this. Many sources say many different things about the English ships.

Noah s Piety In The Play
In the York Corpus Christi Plays, many of the characters are so over top, so remarkably buffoonish
that those characters are ultimately quite comedic in effect. To a modern audience, a comedic biblical
character may seem blasphemous it may seem morally wrong to laugh at Jesus s executioners as they
struggle to crucify Christianity s most important figure. However, when examining exactly how those
characters function in the play, the comedic nature of those characters may not be wholly blasphemous
in effect. For example, do those comedic executioners only make the audience laugh at Jesus s
crucifixion, or do they emphasize Jesus s calm and solemn nature? Similarly, plays about Noah s ark
and the great flood include comedic characters, yet those plays do not feel totally blasphemous.
Instead, the inclusion of a variety of characters in these plays seems more nuanced. In the York Corpus
Christi Play The Building of the Ark, Noah s piety is established through his undying trust in God and
his general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his encounter with God, Noah does not question God s intentions or his plan. The only
thing Noah questions is his own ability to perform such great actions (which is, again, related to his
pious humility), never God s general plan. God explains to him his plan, and Noah ends the play by
telling God that he will go and fulfill God s wishes: Abowte this werke now bus me wende, (PAGE #,
l. 148). Not only is Noah humble, he is also obedient and trusts in his God. In attributing Noah s piety
to humility, trust in God, obedience, and gratitude, The Building of the Ark subsequently praises these
attributes and establishes them as virtues. Thus, the play not only categorizes Noah as pious (and
explains what exactly makes him a pious character), the play also makes the public aware of how one
can become pious like

Plano Food Pantry Personal Statement
Because I have a very strong interest in nutrition and both internal and rehabilitative medicine, I
would like to dedicate myself to serve the medical needs of those less fortunate. I believe that this is
the best way for me to contribute to society from the experiences I have had. I believe there is nothing
that I would find more meaningful than studying and practicing medicine. Being part of Balavikas,
youth service group, has given me a glimpse into the vast class differences that occur in our society. In
Balavikas, I volunteered at the Austin Street Shelter and at the Plano Food Pantry, where I was able to
interact with socially and economically disadvantaged people who have dealt first hand with these
pressing issues. Volunteering at these places has been a motivational and educational experience by
showing me the medical issues that affect the poor, including nutrient deficiency. To serve these

St. Thomas Aquinas Arguments On Lawful Suicide
The topic of whether or not suicide is lawful is very popular among both ancient and modern
philosophers. Two of the most notable minds to opposing the issue include St. Thomas Aquinas and
Immanuel Kant. Both men come from different worlds separated by the centuries. Even though they
both oppose lawful suicide; they approach the topic in differing ways. I will analyze both of their
arguments, compare the similarities and differences, as well as provide my own though which I find to
be most agreeable. St. Thomas Aquinas is a widely renowned Christian theologian and philosopher, as
well as an important doctor of the Church. Because of his deeply rooted Catholic faith, Aquinas
reasoning is based heavily on Church doctrine and scripture. However, he is also known for his study
of Aristotle, whose more practical views he intertwines with Christian teaching. For Aquinas, the idea
of suicide is an obvious violation of Christian doctrine as well as the worst possible offence against
God. Aquinas argument against the idea of lawful suicide is rooted in the rules within his definition of
natural law. To Aquinas natural law is based on practical reason of beings. This practical reason is
conveys the notion that all beings naturally seek good ends. We are naturally inclined to do good
actions and avoid evil ones. His view is influenced from Christian ... Show more content on

Immanuel Kant was born several centuries after Aquinas but he was aware of Aquinas position on
natural law. For Kant, the idea of natural law is also based three propositions. The first is the notion
that all natural law is obeyed from duty. It is important to know the Kant holds the view that emotions
ought not involved when dealing with proper moral or natural law. Desire and natural inclinations are
not the same for all people, and there for cannot be a judge of an actions moral

excess, and it was an age of satire. The First World War just ended. The traditional moral code obeyed
by Puritans, which calls for thrift and simplicity, has fallen apart. At the same time, hedonism started
prevailing in the whole country. Fitzgerald is also one of these people who indulged in gay life and

Woodland Periods in North America
North America was a land of quite diversities from the east to the south. One of the early periods was
the Eastern Woodland period (800 200 BCE) which led to the mound emergence and when the Middle
Woodland period (c. 200 BCE AD 400) started, the mounds became more significant for ritual and
spiritual meaning widespread (Scarre 681: 2013). Adena and the Middle Woodland societies traded
throughout the land such as the southern Appalachians and the Great Lakes. They would trade artifacts
like marine shells, whelks, and pipestones (ibid 682). Most of the Middle Woodland artifacts were
actually found in Ohio though it was evident that people would travel long distances to different
destinations. During the Late Woodland period (AD 400 1000), mounds were coming to an end in
some areas as well as long distance trades. Population didn t cease to grow and stretched through the
Midwest and Southwest. The villages that separated into owning more land where it was farther from
river access started to cultivate native plants but they only lasted a few years (ibid 684). When the
trading system of non local materials started to die, weapons began to emerge such as arrowheads,
bows and arrows for hunting. Tension between villages rose which then led to fighting and death
which then also led to the formation of militarized groups by the end of the first millennium (ibid
686). Chiefdoms also became a part of life around AD 1000 mainly due to people seeking help from

An Analysis Of Peter Pan, By J. M. Golding s I Die...
J. M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, said: To die would be an awfully big adventure. I believe it
would be. I have had many experiences with almost dying. I have had many experiences where my
life had flashed before my eyes. April 4th, 2014, I almost died 27 times. On that date, I looked death
right in the face, and laughed at it.
In the summer, I was supposed to go to a girls camp for my church. There were a few requirements we
had to pass off before going. One of them was a 3 mile hike and a camping trip. We decided to hit 2
birds with 1 stone. So we set a date to go camping with the girls who were going to camp. There were
about 16 girls who decided they would go. We set off on our 1 night trip on April 4th, 2014. It started
off normal. A regular trail through the woods. The path started to get thinner and thinner as we walked
on it. We then got to a part where we had to go over a log that was partly hanging over a chasm. I
peered over the edge to see thousands of sharp rocks and a large pool of rushing water. After 3 girls
had gone over the log safely, it was my turn. I slowly put my right leg over the enormous log. I had
made sure to steady myself before putting my left leg over. After I had done so, I threw my left leg
over and sat on the log. Then I put my right foot on the ground. I thought I was safe, but my left foot s,
shoelace got caught on the rugged wood. I pulled with force, but that was a bad idea. I got it undone,

by not caring what people think of her, Prufrock is insecure and questions who he is and how people
will perceive him. Both characters have detailed traits that express who they are. Daisy appears very
confident, outspoken, and has a vivacious personality. On the other hand, Prufrock starts off with an

However, Daisy starts up a little argument with him. The narrator states, She opened fire upon the
mysterious charmer in Geneva (James 113). Daisy and Winterbourne had only known each other for a
few days, so Daisy had no reason to question Winterbourne s intentions. Through her argument with
Winterbourne, Daisy shows herself as being quick tempered, needy, and jealous. During the same
argument Daisy states, I don t want you to come for your aunt... I want you to come for me (James
113). Daisy s desire to be the center of Winterbourne s attention makes her jealous of another woman,
even if that woman is his relative. She wants to be the only reason Winterbourne goes to Rome. While
Daisy is an attention craver, Prufrock is the exact opposite and does not want any attention on him.
Prufrock states: And I have known the eyes already, known them all The eyes that fix you in a
formulated phrase, And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin, When I am pinned and wriggling
on the wall, Then how should I begin (Eliot 582). Prufrock describes how he feels when all the
attention is on him. He feels as if he is on display and believes people will analyze and scrutinize
everything about him. He then questions how he should begin a conversation, believing he will be
judged. Before Prufrock goes down the stairs, he also states: With a bald spot in the middle of my hair

How John Snow Tested The Water Supply At Broad Street Essay
Science in the 1850s was very underdeveloped as compared to the technology we have this day.
Therefore it would have been incredibly challenging for scientists, like John Snow, to hold labs and
experiment. One big factor I noticed that differentiates the two centuries was how John Snow tested
the water supply at Broad Street. These days, epidemiologists and scientists use meters or technology
to test the groundwater. However, John Snow had no other choice but to drink test it himself; this was
his method that led him to discover water borne diseases. From this, we can learn how much John
Snow was devoted to discovering better health for the communities. When John Snow gathered his
data, he knew that eliminating differences in location or other factors would mess the result of the
study. Rather keeping the confounding variable the same would help him find the problem of the
study, which was water.
London was going through a revolution, everyone living in the city for jobs, overpopulated and
starting to get polluted. However, John Snow did not budge even with this kind of adversity; but rather
was fascinated by the environment. Because during that time, London gave John Snow great chances
to examine and study water and air borne diseases, which is not commonly seen in rich and clean
countrysides. John Snow and his partners resided in London to discover new diseases and the cure for
that.
Not only was John Snow played a big part of the history of epidemiology, but his partner

33 patients between 15 to 60 which mean age of patients in laser group was 38.94±11.86, and in
control group was 37.12± 11.60 years, the study results have shown that in laser group, both THI and
VAS figures have significantly decreased(p=0.004). However, in control group, pain intensity and
tinnitus have not shown any significant difference in 4 time spans (p=0.641). All patients are
compared by four phases. Although results in all four phases were significant, they have shown that
mean figures of both tests after one month follow up have reached scores close to commencement of

Determination Of Amino Acids From Fruit Juices
Outcome 1
Literature Research
My research topic Determination of the amino acids present in the fruit juices.
What is an amino Acid?
An Amino Acid is a basic organic compound containing both a carboxyl and an amine group
H O N X C
H OH
What makes all amino acids different?
In amino acids, it is the section between the two function groups ( represented by x in the above
diagram ) that makes each amino acid different.
How many are there? What is an essential amino acid?
Scientists have discovered over fifty amino acids but only twenty are used in the body to make
proteins. Nine of this twenty are called essential amino acids which we give ourselves from our food
and the other eleven are made by the body itself.
The 9 Essential amino acids
Phenylalanine
Methionine
Histidine
Tryptophan
Isoleucine
Arginine
Threonine
Lysine
Leucine
What is their function in the body? Amino acids are important in our diet because they have so many
different functions. One of the main uses of amino acids is that they are the building blocks that make
proteins. Proteins are lchains of amino Acids linked together by peptide bonds making up our muscles,
organs, nails, hair and many other necessary part for every living body.
Vitamins and minerals are regulated by amino acids making sure they are performing properly, also
enzymes and hormones that catalyse all chemical reactions in our body are proteins. Most importantly

The Kenmore Midget Baseball Board
The Kenmore Midget Baseball board relied entirely upon one person to run the organization and as a
result needs to create a new structure in which board members are more involved. After the board of
the Kenmore Midget Baseball League voted against allowing the chairwoman Sarah s husband to take
over the league s concession stand (as it was a clear conflict of interest) Sarah left the organization
abruptly and rather dramatically. While Sarah s departure was an initial blow to the league, over time
it came to be seen as a great opportunity to rebuild the organization and this time build a more
balanced, stronger organization. The main lesson learned was that the board needed to govern as a
collective and that it was each person s responsibility to contribute to the well being of the league. In
the following paragraphs I will discuss what went wrong while Sarah was the league chair and how
the league board will be able to address these issues.
Gill puts forth his four pillars of excellence in which he thinks every good board possessed. These
pillars are Board Development, Management of board work and meetings, decision making and .
board and organizational culture.Throughout this paper I will show how after the departure of sarah
the league designed and created a good board by implementing each pillar. At first glance it may have
appeared as if Sarah was an asset to the organization but upon further inspection one can determine
that when one single person dominates the

Tenochtitlan Influence On The Aztecs
Kaavye Lal
Period 4 In Northern Mexico, a group of people known as the Aztecs arrived and became the
dominant tribe in the region. Since the 13th century the Aztecs developed their capital city of
Tenochtitlan as well as controlled their capital city of Tenochtitlan and their rival s city states.
However in the 16th century invaders from Spain led by conquistador, Hernan Cortez, put an end to
the Aztecs after taking Tenochtitlan ( Beyond Human Sacrifice , 2002; Montezuma, II , 1998). Though
the Aztec s civilization crumbled, much of their art remains to tell stories of their religion and rituals
that they practiced. Their art included statues of gods, ceremonial clothing, and illustrations depicting
a warrior society built upon human sacrifice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason is that much of what the Aztec s created displays the brutal is acts they did on their
enemies. In museums exhibits that show Aztec work often have illustrations of them using prisoners
of war for their bloodletting ceremonies, battles with other tribes, and wearing the skin of their victims
( Terrible Beauty , 2002). Also the weapons that they use such as daggers with serrated edges and
bows. This gives people the idea that the Aztecs were obsessed with death, but the Aztecs practiced
agriculture as well and other works of art they created represent gods that controlled wind, the sun,
and rain ( Beyond Human Sacrifice , 2002). So the Aztecs were more well rounded they cared for war
as much as they cared for the state of their people s food and

The Four Types of Paragraphs
THE FOUR TYPES OF PARAGRAPHS (With Examples)
There are four types of paragraphs we write. They include: narrative, informative, descriptive, and
persuasive. All paragraphs have certain elements, but the four types are also different from one
another in how they are composed. Look at the outline about paragraphs in general.
All paragraphs:
1. It has a strong beginning, or introduction sentence, which states the main idea clearly.
2. It has several supporting sentences which make up the body, and support the main idea. All
sentences in the supporting details should back up, or point to, that main idea. The details should be
strong and vivid. The sentence structure and length should vary.
3. It has a strong concluding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All that was left was the bathroom and my bedroom. I snuck into the bedroom, wielding the sharp
knife in terror, and bent over to look under the bed. No one was there. I silently released my breath
and turned toward the closet. I opened the closet carefully and switched on the light. Again, no one
was there. I had one place left to look: the bathroom. This was probably the hardest place, because I
had seen too many movies where someone was hiding in the shower. Nonetheless, I crept into the tiny
bathroom and flipped on the light switch. The navy blue shower curtain hung there concealing
whatever fate lay before me. I reached my hand out toward the curtain, paused a moment, steeling
myself and summoning the last of my courage, and committed myself to the search. I grabbed the
edge of the curtain and whipped it back in a flash, preparing myself to use the knife on the fiend
hiding in there. I trembled as the knife dropped out of my hand. No one was there. Relief flooded me
so strongly that I nearly crumpled to the floor. Later, after I had called my boyfriend back, he
remembered that he had gone by the apartment while I was gone and dropped off a book I was
reading. I had forgotten that he had a key. He had forgotten he d been there and closed the door. That
was one wild homecoming!

A Brief Note On Physician Assisted Suicide And Euthanasia
Before I start, I want you all to know that this speech is meant to challenge your beliefs and show
there are always two sides of the story. Physician Assisted Suicide (PAS) is a very touchy subject;
some people are passionately for it and some people are passionately against. Everyone has their own
personal views or personal opinions but this is one of the situations where you would not know what
you would do unless you were in that particular situation. Some people choose to die with dignity and
would like to control how, where, or when they die. Some people would choose to avoid excruciating
pain and not to have their loved ones see them suffer. Some people would choose to speed up the
inevitable, avoid outrageous medical bills, and choose physician assisted suicide to die peacefully. Just
imagine, you are a 44 year old married man with 2 young children and you were diagnosed with ALS
and that your diagnosis is terminal. You were told that you would lose all muscle function, never will
be able to hold your kids or your loving wife again, or enjoy life with your loved ones. You will first
lose the use of your legs; you will not be able to walk anymore and you will have to use a wheelchair
to move around. Next you will lose the use of your arms and no longer able to feed or dress yourself.
You will experience vocal cord spasms and eventually lose your voice, you would no longer be able to
tell your kids, I love you . You will lose your bowel function and must

The Public Spheres Of British Victorian Society Essay
The public spheres of British Victorian society was a markedly masculine jurisdiction, obviously
lacking in a feminine presence. Traditionally the public spheres of the society were considered a man s
domain and women were sequestered into the home, women of the public were thus considered of ill
repute. The modern stay at home woman was considered an extension of her husband s wealth, and
her being in the home that of how well off the man had become. The rise of the department stores lead
to an increase of women into what was considered a masculine space and as transportation means
became more readily available to them the roles of women within the public sphere also changed.
These marked changes and shifts in gender role can be seen with the admit protest against their
presence London s West End, and the portrayal od exulted angels gracing the shops with their
presence creating a chaste space. These and many other examples in Erika Diane Rappaport s
Shopping for Pleasure: Women in the Making of London s West End illustrate how women entering
the public sphere altered their gender roles with Victorian English Society.
The preconceived gender roles before 19th century England allowed the privilege of public space
reserved for men, with women usually being in the home. The rising industrial age had led to many
changes especially with the women being employed in factories in large cities where droves of young
people had flooded in to find work. From this influx came the

Evergreen State College Trip Report
This trip began at 7:20 a.m. when I arrived at the Evergreen State College. At my time of arrival, it
was a cool 53 F and was slightly raining with the expected forecast of heavy rain throughout the day.
At 7:45 a.m. I met the rest of the class in front of the vans in parking lot C and I noted that everything
was wet from all the rain. We left campus at 8:15 a.m. and headed south towards Vancouver WA. My
goal for this trip was learn more about the history of the Columbia River Gorge and the city of
Vancouver. Throughout the drive, I took notes every fifteen minutes to record my observations. At
8:30 a.m. we passed the last Tumwater exit heading south on I5, at 8:45 a.m. we passed the Centralia
Outlet Mall. At 9:00 a.m. we passed the Morton exit where there was a lot of scotch broom present.
By 9:15 a.m. we passed the mile 49 markers. At 9:30 a.m. we passed a river along the freeway (was it
the Columbia?)/ By 9:45 a.m. the class stopped at the rest stop for a few minutes before leaving once
again towards Vancouver. By 10:00 a.m. the slight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shortly after our arrival to the park Christina and I set out on a walk around the river which didn t
seem like it would be too bad due to the rain, but about half way through we soon regretted it.
Throughout our walk the rain and wind picked up immensely and by the time we finished we were
both soaking wet from the head down despite having an umbrella. Although the rain made the walk
difficult it was nice taking note of the tremendous amounts of blackberry plants and long grasses that
lined the walkway in addition the informational signs about the area. By the time we finished our walk
it was 11:39 a.m. and we sat down under a covered area where we ate our lunched and listened to a
talk by Martha who explained the history of the Columbia River and its importance for Native

  • 2. Martin Luther King Jr. And Malcolm X Essay Without Martin Luther King, there is no Malcolm X. Without Malcolm X, there is no Martin Luther King. There couldn t have been one without the other. They were complete opposites; they were two of the most different men. Nevertheless, they were fighting for the same thing. They were fighting for the civil rights of African Americans in a country thought to have been based on freedom and equality . These two men were brave enough to stand up for what they believed in, for what was right. They were brave enough to take on the weight of the responsibility and burdens they were about endure to make what was wrong, right. Equality and fairness among all types of people. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X are probably the two best known African American leaders of the last century. Since their deaths in the 60 s no one has been able to fill the shoes that these men wore in striving for the civil rights of African Americans. Both men were ministers and also victims of assassination. Our dependence on the electronic tools we interact with on a daily basis may have altered how we communicate what we have learned to others. The traditional manner of structuring argument may have been replaced by a more diffuse manner that parallels the format of web content (Rusciano Xia, 2013). Our knowledge structure has moved from print based to web based (Rusciano Xia, 2013) and our use of the web has moved the way our knowledge is organized and shared (Rusciano Xia, 2013). The difference in pay are very common now in many career paths where men and women are doing the same work amount. It is rare to think that when men and women are performing the same task and are just as qualified as each other that they would get paid the same. As the wage gap is being discussed more, the question is why do men and women have different wages when they are working the same job. While it seems that men don t have to take as much time off from work or may work more, we have to look at it from Women s viewpoints also. Women and Men should be paid equally for the work that they perform. However, if a Man is working a in a factory or any other job that has them constantly lifting things and a woman works there and they can t do the same as the man can then, the man should receive more pay. • 12. Noah s Piety In The Play In the York Corpus Christi Plays, many of the characters are so over top, so remarkably buffoonish that those characters are ultimately quite comedic in effect. To a modern audience, a comedic biblical character may seem blasphemous it may seem morally wrong to laugh at Jesus s executioners as they struggle to crucify Christianity s most important figure. However, when examining exactly how those characters function in the play, the comedic nature of those characters may not be wholly blasphemous in effect. For example, do those comedic executioners only make the audience laugh at Jesus s crucifixion, or do they emphasize Jesus s calm and solemn nature? Similarly, plays about Noah s ark and the great flood include comedic characters, yet those plays do not feel totally blasphemous. Instead, the inclusion of a variety of characters in these plays seems more nuanced. In attributing Noah s piety to humility, trust in God, obedience, and gratitude, The Building of the Ark subsequently praises these attributes and establishes them as virtues. Two of the most notable minds to opposing the issue include St. Thomas Aquinas and Immanuel Kant. Both men come from different worlds separated by the centuries. Even though they both oppose lawful suicide; they approach the topic in differing ways. I will analyze both of their arguments, compare the similarities and differences, as well as provide my own though which I find to be most agreeable. St. Thomas Aquinas is a widely renowned Christian theologian and philosopher, as well as an important doctor of the Church. Because of his deeply rooted Catholic faith, Aquinas reasoning is based heavily on Church doctrine and scripture. However, he is also known for his study of Aristotle, whose more practical views he intertwines with Christian teaching. For Aquinas, the idea of suicide is an obvious violation of Christian doctrine as well as the worst possible offence against God. Aquinas argument against the idea of lawful suicide is rooted in the rules within his definition of natural law. To Aquinas natural law is based on practical reason of beings. Therefore it would have been incredibly challenging for scientists, like John Snow, to hold labs and experiment. One big factor I noticed that differentiates the two centuries was how John Snow tested the water supply at Broad Street. These days, epidemiologists and scientists use meters or technology to test the groundwater. However, John Snow had no other choice but to drink test it himself; this was his method that led him to discover water borne diseases. From this, we can learn how much John Snow was devoted to discovering better health for the communities. When John Snow gathered his data, he knew that eliminating differences in location or other factors would mess the result of the study. Rather keeping the confounding variable the same would help him find the problem of the study, which was water. London was going through a revolution, everyone living in the city for jobs, overpopulated and starting to get polluted. However, John Snow did not budge even with this kind of adversity; but rather was fascinated by the environment. Because during that time, London gave John Snow great chances to examine and study water and air borne diseases, which is not commonly seen in rich and clean countrysides. • 26. Determination Of Amino Acids From Fruit Juices Outcome 1 Literature Research My research topic Determination of the amino acids present in the fruit juices. What is an amino Acid? An Amino Acid is a basic organic compound containing both a carboxyl and an amine group H O N X C H OH What makes all amino acids different? In amino acids, it is the section between the two function groups ( represented by x in the above diagram ) that makes each amino acid different. How many are there? What is an essential amino acid? Scientists have discovered over fifty amino acids but only twenty are used in the body to make proteins. Nine of this twenty are called essential amino acids which we give ourselves from our food and the other eleven are made by the body itself. The 9 Essential amino acids Phenylalanine Methionine Histidine Tryptophan Isoleucine Arginine Threonine Lysine Leucine What is their function in the body? Amino acids are important in our diet because they have so many different functions. One of the main uses of amino acids is that they are the building blocks that make proteins. Proteins are lchains of amino Acids linked together by peptide bonds making up our muscles, organs, nails, hair and many other necessary part for every living body. Vitamins and minerals are regulated by amino acids making sure they are performing properly, also enzymes and hormones that catalyse all chemical reactions in our body are proteins. • 27. The Kenmore Midget Baseball Board The Kenmore Midget Baseball board relied entirely upon one person to run the organization and as a result needs to create a new structure in which board members are more involved. After the board of the Kenmore Midget Baseball League voted against allowing the chairwoman Sarah s husband to take over the league s concession stand (as it was a clear conflict of interest) Sarah left the organization abruptly and rather dramatically. While Sarah s departure was an initial blow to the league, over time it came to be seen as a great opportunity to rebuild the organization and this time build a more balanced, stronger organization. The main lesson learned was that the board needed to govern as a collective and that it was each person s responsibility to contribute to the well being of the league. In the following paragraphs I will discuss what went wrong while Sarah was the league chair and how the league board will be able to address these issues. Gill puts forth his four pillars of excellence in which he thinks every good board possessed. These pillars are Board Development, Management of board work and meetings, decision making and . board and organizational culture.Throughout this paper I will show how after the departure of sarah the league designed and created a good board by implementing each pillar. At first glance it may have appeared as if Sarah was an asset to the organization but upon further inspection one can determine that when one single person dominates the ... • 28. Tenochtitlan Influence On The Aztecs Kaavye Lal Period 4 In Northern Mexico, a group of people known as the Aztecs arrived and became the dominant tribe in the region. Since the 13th century the Aztecs developed their capital city of Tenochtitlan as well as controlled their capital city of Tenochtitlan and their rival s city states. However in the 16th century invaders from Spain led by conquistador, Hernan Cortez, put an end to the Aztecs after taking Tenochtitlan ( Beyond Human Sacrifice , 2002; Montezuma, II , 1998). Though the Aztec s civilization crumbled, much of their art remains to tell stories of their religion and rituals that they practiced. Their art included statues of gods, ceremonial clothing, and illustrations depicting a warrior society built upon human sacrifice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason is that much of what the Aztec s created displays the brutal is acts they did on their enemies. In museums exhibits that show Aztec work often have illustrations of them using prisoners of war for their bloodletting ceremonies, battles with other tribes, and wearing the skin of their victims ( Terrible Beauty , 2002). Also the weapons that they use such as daggers with serrated edges and bows. This gives people the idea that the Aztecs were obsessed with death, but the Aztecs practiced agriculture as well and other works of art they created represent gods that controlled wind, the sun, and rain ( Beyond Human Sacrifice , 2002). • 29. The Four Types of Paragraphs THE FOUR TYPES OF PARAGRAPHS (With Examples) There are four types of paragraphs we write. They include: narrative, informative, descriptive, and persuasive. All paragraphs have certain elements, but the four types are also different from one another in how they are composed. Look at the outline about paragraphs in general. All paragraphs: 1. I snuck into the bedroom, wielding the sharp knife in terror, and bent over to look under the bed. No one was there. I silently released my breath and turned toward the closet. I opened the closet carefully and switched on the light. Again, no one was there. I had one place left to look: the bathroom. This was probably the hardest place, because I had seen too many movies where someone was hiding in the shower. Nonetheless, I crept into the tiny bathroom and flipped on the light switch. The navy blue shower curtain hung there concealing whatever fate lay before me. I reached my hand out toward the curtain, paused a moment, steeling myself and summoning the last of my courage, and committed myself to the search. I grabbed the edge of the curtain and whipped it back in a flash, preparing myself to use the knife on the fiend hiding in there. I trembled as the knife dropped out of my hand. No one was there. Relief flooded me so strongly that I nearly crumpled to the floor. Later, after I had called my boyfriend back, he remembered that he had gone by the apartment while I was gone and dropped off a book I was reading. I had forgotten that he had a key. He had forgotten he d been there and closed the door. That was one wild homecoming! Informative paragraph An informative paragraph has the purpose to give information. It is based on ... • 30. A Brief Note On Physician Assisted Suicide And Euthanasia Before I start, I want you all to know that this speech is meant to challenge your beliefs and show there are always two sides of the story. Physician Assisted Suicide (PAS) is a very touchy subject; some people are passionately for it and some people are passionately against. Everyone has their own personal views or personal opinions but this is one of the situations where you would not know what you would do unless you were in that particular situation. Some people choose to die with dignity and would like to control how, where, or when they die. Some people would choose to avoid excruciating pain and not to have their loved ones see them suffer. Some people would choose to speed up the inevitable, avoid outrageous medical bills, and choose physician assisted suicide to die peacefully. Just imagine, you are a 44 year old married man with 2 young children and you were diagnosed with ALS and that your diagnosis is terminal. You were told that you would lose all muscle function, never will be able to hold your kids or your loving wife again, or enjoy life with your loved ones. You will first lose the use of your legs; you will not be able to walk anymore and you will have to use a wheelchair to move around. Next you will lose the use of your arms and no longer able to feed or dress yourself. You will experience vocal cord spasms and eventually lose your voice, you would no longer be able to tell your kids, I love you . You will lose your bowel function and must ... The rise of the department stores lead to an increase of women into what was considered a masculine space and as transportation means became more readily available to them the roles of women within the public sphere also changed. These marked changes and shifts in gender role can be seen with the admit protest against their presence London s West End, and the portrayal od exulted angels gracing the shops with their presence creating a chaste space. These and many other examples in Erika Diane Rappaport s Shopping for Pleasure: Women in the Making of London s West End illustrate how women entering the public sphere altered their gender roles with Victorian English Society. The preconceived gender roles before 19th century England allowed the privilege of public space reserved for men, with women usually being in the home. The rising industrial age had led to many changes especially with the women being employed in factories in large cities where droves of young people had flooded in to find work.
