How Did The Cold War Containment
The U.S. had a foreign policy of containment during the Cold War and wished to stop the spread of
communism by the Soviets because they send economic aid to Western European countries and
they collaborate with democratic nations who are resisting subjugation. The containment policy
resulted in the joining of NATO (i.e. the end of isolationism) and the majorly successful Truman
Doctrine, Marshall Plan, and the Berlin airlift. Those policies paved the road to stop the spread of
communism to the Western European countries and Asia. (3)
The United States sent economic aid to Western European countries in order to contain
communism. The Marshall plan is now known as the most unselfish act in history. (The Cold War

In a speech given on June 5th, 1947, George C. Marshall, Secretary of State, said, Europe s
requirements...of essential products principally from America are much greater than her present
ability to pay that she must have substantial help or face economic, social, and political
deterioration of a very grave character. (Cold War Reader 17) This proves foreign policy was
containment because they wanted to rebuild the damaged countries economy, so they can resist
communism. In order to ensure communism did not spread and prosperity was reached, a healthy
economy was needed. The Berlin Airlift was a huge step to ending communism. The Soviets
closed all ground routes into the city because they wanted Western powers out. The United States
fought back by flying over Berlin in cargo planes to supply Berlin with necessary supplies. Flying

The Importance Of Stage Directions In Shakespeare s Romeo...
In the very beginning of Act 1, Scene 1 of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, there is a fight
between the Montagues and the Capulets servants about them biting their thumbs at each other;
biting their thumbs at each other was a sign of disrespect. The variations in the intonation, tones,
and stage directions in the four different variations of the scene, show the viewer or the audience
how differently they were created and how each director has different ideas about how it should
look and sound. They had different ideas about how to show the emotions of the characters. The
stage directions in the first scene by George Cukor are pretty general. They show how the
characters do have a rivalry with each other. During the fight, you could tell that each person had
different directions to follow during the fight. During the second scene by Alvin Rakoff, they had
more emotionin their actions, which you could tell was through their stage directions. The director
had a different idea about the part when Sampson asks a question quietly to... Show more content on

An example of this is when Sampson is up against the wall with the Montagues surrounding him,
he sounds very scared and like he does not want to disrespect them at all and as if he never did.
In the one by Alvin Rakoff, the actors use different tones than the actors did in the first one. For
example, they never once had a tone that suggested that they may be nervous or scared. They
showed confidence and courage with their tones. The scene created by Franco Zeffirelli has very
confident tones radiating from the actors. They each do not show fear. Their voices show us that
they both think they are better than the other. In the last scene by Baz Luhrmann, there are very
intense tones being put to use. They show their anger very obviously, rather than maybe trying to
cover it a bit more, like in the other

Essay On Student Athletes Should Be Paid
College sports are everywhere in today s world. Turn on ESPN and you will be surrounded
hearing about Jay Bilas final four predictions or possibly Jon Gruden s Heisman candidates.
College sports have turned into a multi billion dollar industry with consistent growth. Despite of
the fast growing business, the NCAA remains non profit and labels the players student athletes to
mark them amateur. With this label, athletes are recognized as student first and athlete second.
Scholastics are supposed to be prioritized over athletics, however with the growing industry the
lines are being blurred. The NCAA is considered to be an amateur league, however, groups of
people are pushing for players to become paid due to the high revenue. While one... Show more

Ed O Bannon, a previous UCLA basketball player filed a case looking to sue the NCAA for
licensing players without consent. The NCAA marks their players as amateurs, therefore, they
do not allow paying players. However after the ruling, the NCAA was found to be violating
antitrust laws, which could potentially change the model of the system (Maese). Judge Claudia
Wilken ruled an injunction that schools in the NCAA would be allowed to provide players a trust
fund in order to compensate players for using their names in broadcasting, merchandise or
imaging. In 2016, this trust fund will allow universities to conduct bidding wars for future recruits
(Strauss, Tracy). This of course, would be able to be capped at a certain mark and would not be
payable until after the departure of a student athlete s time at a college or the end of their eligibility
(Berkowitz) This court case could potentially change the way college sports are run.
Marc Edelman, a writer for forbes.com, argues his point in 21 Reasons Why Student Athletes Are
Employees And Should Be Allowed To Unionize is for the movement to pay players. Edelman
focuses his point on NCAA programs being large revenue businesses and in his opinion should
consider student athletes as employees. With this, he explains that student athletes have to work an
average of 43.3 hours a week and oftentimes forced to miss class due to NCAA playoff scheduling
(Edelman). Edelman goes on to compare

The Effect Of Personality On Teacher Leadership
The Effect of Personality on Teacher Leadership

Flagler College
Methods This study looks at the effect personality has on teacher leadership. In this study, the
independent variable is based off of the Big Five Inventory (BFI), and is a person s T score in
each of the Big Five personality traits. The dependent variable would be the scores in each of the
seven domains on the Teacher Leadership Inventory (TLI). An Analysis of Variability (ANOVA)
will be used to determine if there is a relationship between personality and teacher leadership.
In previous research by Aydin, Balvi, and Alci (2013), it was shown that neuroticismhas negative
effects on all teaching competencies examined, and extroversion is significantly and positively
correlated to teaching competency, so this study will look at the effects of extroversion and
neuroticism on teacher leadership. In this study, it is predicted that there will be a relationship
between personality and leadership, and while Extroversion will have a positive correlation with the
seven teacher leadership domains, neuroticism will have a negative correlation with the seven
teacher leadership domains.
Participants
Participants of the study were from a sample of Flagler students, all of which were members of the
education department, and were selected on a voluntary basis. Compensation received by the

entire story encompasses a conversation between two lovers and leaves the reader with more

The reader can easily view that the couple is merely just passing time. However, several
references could lead the reader to believe that the alcohol consumption is a panacea for the
couple. In the opening paragraph, the couple is getting off the train. They wanted to get
something to drink. The couple could have had any beverage to drink but the man suggested
they drink beer and then he emphasized big ones. This was an indication that the couple was
dealing with something serious. In paragraph 87 when the girl did not want to talk anymore, she
then asked if they could have another beer (Stanford 841). It is human nature to avoid problems,
as this couple is doing. Why do people drink? People develop dependencies, to cope with
troubles. In relation to Hemingway, he was among the many literary writers who were alcoholics.
He even said, That all good writers are drinking writers (Benedictus). Looking at the
circumstances when Hemingway wrote the story, he was very depressed. He became so
emotionally depressed he vowed to kill himself by Christmas if his love affair had not settled (Baker

Desire In The Symposium
In Plato s The Symposium, a group of well versed men consider philosophical arguments,
specifically regarding the role desire plays in a virtuous life. As academics and philosophers who
hold high rank in the social system of ancient Greece, these men are praised for their wisdom and
eloquence. One such philosopher, Pausanias, gives a speech early in the text that addresses desire
as a multifaceted concept, setting the tone for the novel. The Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Indian text
that is much revered in modern Hindu culture, considers the same concepts of desire and virtue, but
is written as a dialogue between the warrior prince Arjuna and his charioteer, the deity Krishna.
Within the text, Krishna addresses Arjuna s concerns regarding his... Show more content on

Therefore, for Pausanias, desire of such worldly and mortal objects is a manifestation of an inferior
type of love. Of the man who succumbs to this love, Pausanias says, He is not constant, because
he loves something that is not constant: as soon as the bloom of the body fades, which is what
attracted him, he flies away and is gone , bringing disgrace on all he said and promised, (Plato 16).
The fickle nature of worldly desire is illuminated by the flower metaphor Pausanias uses; the
beauty of a flower, the bloom, is akin to the superficiality of earthly desire, and neither is the
foundation of lasting love. Physical desire and the resulting attachment to the material world cause
disgrace for the soul who delights in such cravings. While Pausanias warns against over attachment
to physical objects in The Symposium, the deity Krishna completely condemns the material world
in The Bhagavad Gita. For Krishna, desire of sensuous objects is the root of evil, trapping the soul
and bringing it harm.Concerned only with these sensuous object, Arjuna is rebuked on the
battlefield by Krishna, who says, Contacts with matter make us feel heat and cold, pleasure and
pain. Arjuna, you must learn to endure fleeting things they come and go! (Miller 33). Krishna
extends Pausanias s warning to all physicality, saying that desire of any physicality is dangerous to
the soul. In a

Social Justice And Its Entire Entity
Social Justice in its entire entity: The Final Countdown to Defining Social Justice
Kaylie Ines
ID 201: Social Justice
Dr. Jorsch Dr. Van Tassel Fear and cruelty are the weapons of animals, not humanity, and social
injustices derive from fear the masked ego of one who has sustained through power: white power.
It is only fair to continue to talk about social injustice by defining what is social justice. Social
justice embodies a framework (and certainly not limited to) a community, a united nation,
equitable in standing together in belief and acceptance of diversity; equality; freedom; and equal
opportunity to income and its privileges. Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United
States of America proclaims that a house divided cannot stand. I believe President Lincoln is
correct with his statement, if the house is not endowed in a universal cause and foundation, then
the infrastructure is faulty and will collapse. Here is how this connects to social justice, if that
same house is not socially just, separation will impel and will cause dilapidation within the
foundation. This paper will implement foci on Michelle Alexander s (The New Jim Crow)
approach of the social issue of a new Jim Crow system of mass incarceration in a colorblind
society, and Barbara Ehrenreich s (Nickle and Dimed) notion to the social injustice that derives
from a capitalistic driven society that undermines the working lower class men and women. With

Variables of Tridacna isotopes as environmental indicators. Ontogeny, zooxanthella symbiosis, trace
elements, seasonality and relative living depth.
Abstract (In progress)
Isotopic profiles of mollusks provide insight to the biology of fossil and living specimen and the
conditions under which they live in. Isotopic profiles record seasonal variance in temperature,
salinity, dissolved oxygen concentrations and can provide evidence of changes in bio mineralization
in correlation with seasonality and ontology. The shells of Tridacnaare beneficial for Pleistocene
paleoceanography isotopic studies because of their large size making it easier to gain detailed
samples of shell carbonate. The density of the shell better preserves original carbonate of the shell.

The Most Notable Irish Politicians Of The 19th Century And...
John Dillon is one of the most notable Irish politicians of the later 19th century and early 20th
century. He was an avid home rule advocate, a leader in the Irish Parliamentary Party, and a
devout follower of Charles Parnell. He was jailed several times for his political activity within
the home rule cause. In May of 1881, he wrote this letter out of Kilmainham Gaol, where he was
imprisoned. One of the first notable things seen is the actual stationary, which is has black edges.
Black edged stationery was mostly used for mourning stationary during the Victorian era. It was
used when a family member died. Dillon s sister Christina had died from tuberculosis in
December 1880, prompting him to use the black edge stationary. Dillon wrote the letter in
Kilmainham Gaol, located in Dublin. It was opened in 1796, and was used to house political
prisoners, as well as others. Notable prisoners held here were Dillon, Dillon s mentor Charles
Stewart Parnell, Robert Emmet, The Invincibles, along with other Home Rule advocates and
independence seekers. It was abandoned in 1924 due to aging infrastructure. Interest in its
refurbishment began in 1966. Today, the gaol serves as a museum open to the public, operated by
the Irish Office of Public Works.
The letter was written on of May 30th, 1881, and was addressed to Cowen. This can be presumed
to be Joseph Cowen, who was an English member of Parliament for Newcastle upon Tyne from
1874 until 1886. Cowen was a member of the Liberal Party,

Hot Fat Research Paper
HOT FAT MAKES AN APPEARANCE
In recent science news, scientists at the University of Berkeley have developed a way to encourage
the growth of fat that aids in reducing weight and low blood sugar in mice subjects. The study is
available to read online in the Diabetes (http://diabetes.diabetesjournals.org/content/early/2015/08

In the press release (http://news.berkeley.edu/2015/08/20/engineered implants turn white fat to
brown/) made available by the university, the hot fat implant was shown to produce the favored
results mentioned in the beginning, involving the use of brown fat to help burn the calories. The
implications of this study have some promising potential, according to one of the researchers of the
study, Kevin Tharp, a student in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology (http:/

Before, what was known about brown fat was that it disappeared as one grew older but can still be
found in certain areas of the body in adults.
Not only has the hot fat had a positive impact on the mice s metabolism and health, but it also helps
to produce heat. This is evident in a thermograph when viewing a place with no implant in the mice
and the hot fat implant on the opposite side, the latter having a warmer temperature than the former.

The Sound Of Silence By Simon And Garfunkel
The sound of silence The sound of silence was originally composed by Simon and Garfunkel in
1964 and it was number one on billboard s hot 100 for a week. Originally this song falls under
the folk rock and soft rock genres. The two covers I have choose are by Disturbed (2015) and
Touch of Glass (2016). While many older people have heard of the song sound of silence by
Simon and Garfunkel most of the younger generation have only heard of the song by Disturbed
with many people believing that disturbed wrote the song in the first place. Most people have
never heard of Touch of Glass let alone that they sung this cover. The most major difference I
have found between all 3 songs is the mood that artist gives off. With Simon and Garfunkel
giving off more of a upbeat and funky mood that makes the song seem to have good feelings
attached to it. Then Disturbed gives off more of a dark and foreboding mood that leaves the
listener feeling lonely. Then Touch of Glass in my opinion gives off a more country and western
mood that shows hardship in life. Simon and Garfunkel is trying to show silence and darkness
as more of a friend that you are glad to see and to show that silence is not a bad thing with their
tone. Disturbed on the other hand is trying to show the sound of silence and darkness as more of
a old friend you would rather not meet until the very end. Very similar with Disturbed s song the
Touch of Glass they seem to try to tell you of the hardship of silence and

Essay On Romans 13
Romans has long been the mainstay of Christian theology; in addition to, Messianic Jews (Hebrew
Christians). A critical factor for biblical interpretation is context and nowhere is this point truer
than Romans 13: 1 7. The common interpretation of Romans 13 is obedience to governing
authorities; however, there are exceptions to rules, both legally and scripturally. There are times
when God s law supersedes man s law. Theologian, Bob Deffinbaugh states that, Even when one
cannot obey, they can still demonstrate a submissive spirit; ergo, this submissive spirit should never
be set aside when it comes to those in authority. Robert L. Deffinbaugh, The Christian and Civil
Government Romans 13: 1 7 В¶13, (18 August 2004).
One illustration of obeying God s law over men while demonstrating a submissive spirit is in the
case of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego In the Book of Daniel 3. These three wise Jewish boys
had found favor in the eyes of Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzer and were placed as high
appointed officials in Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzer had commissioned the creation of an

Persuasive Essay On Paid Maternity Leave

Paid maternity leave Tara is an American female who was nine months pregnant. She was
working full time at home and care for her one year old toddler. In several days in of end in her
pregnant, she was focused not just on her expected date of confinement, but also on another
deadline which she would have to go back at work 20 days after giving birth. Actually Tara s
situation is pretty typical in the U.S. America is the only developed country which has no paid
maternity leave. Many other countries have new rule for new parents and new babies. New mons
in Finland can get 16 weeks paid maternity leave. Denmark government can provide the salary for
52 weeks maternity leave. The Latin American cuarentena and the Uzbek chilla have 40 days of
rests and social support. However, maternity leave in the United States is regulated by US labor law.
(Wikipedia). Companies have the right to provide the unpaid break for new moms when they are
during the month before and after childbirth. Recently, more and more citizens hope that
government can implement the rule of paid maternity leave. Donald Trump, who is the president
of America now, even declared that he would publish the rules of paid maternity leave during the
presidential selection. As for me, I obviously believe that paid maternity leave should be
implemented in America, so that the and it is beneficial for the health of new mothers and babies,

A Brief Description of Alex Rodriguez
The star third baseman, the man with the incredible swing, and the quarter billion dollar man. All
these things can be used to describe Alex Rodriguez but now you can add cheater, liar, and drug
abuser. Alex Rodriguez, also known as A Rod, has been involved in an investigation going on for
over a year about his use of performance enhancing steroids. Starting on January 29th, 2013 Alex
Rodriguezs name was included in an article by the Miami New Times that link him to Biogenesis,
an anti aging clinic that had been discovered to be supplying MLB players with performance
enhancing drugs. Rodriguez, along with star right fielder Ryan Braun and 17 others, became part
of the longest doping suspension in history. All of the other players accepted the 50 60 game
suspensions, but Rodriguez would receive an unprecedented 211 game suspension. This caused
Rodriguez to appeal.
The MLB released the following statement explaining the extended suspension of Rodriguez. For
use and possession of numerous forms of prohibited performance enhancing drugs substances,
including Testosterone and Human Growth Hormone, over the course of multiple years. For
attempting to cover up his violations of the Program by engaging in a course of conduct intended to
obstruct and frustrate the Office of the Commissioners suspension. Rodriguez announced that he
would continue his appeal. When the hearing for Rodriguez s case began on September 30th 2013,

History And Background Of John Deere
History and Background of John Deere John Deere (also known as Deere and Company) began
when founder John Deere, a blacksmith and a repair man, began to grow tired with the
traditional way of making plows. Plows in the nineteenth century were made to order and usually
made from wood or iron. In 1837, John Deere created a plow using a steel saw blade. The smooth
sided plow was much easier and faster to clean than traditional plows (Wikipedia). John Deere
decided that he would manufacture the plows and then put them up for sale. This allowed
customers to actually see what they were buying beforehand. His business started to gain
popularity. In 1912, the company began to expand into the tractor business. In 1918 Deere and

In the role of executive producer there are no women or men of color in these position across
ABC, CBS and NBC news channels. Additionally, there are no women of color in a lead anchor
position, but there are only a few that are in the co anchor positions. Each national station s

As for our local news stations, white females account for 50% of the anchor, co anchor and reporter

By analyzing the number of positions that are currently being held by women of color we can
bring awareness to the struggles they face in order to fill a lead anchor or reporter s position.
There has not been a lot of changes, but by bringing attention to how uneven the playing field is
when it comes to television journalism, women of color have dealt with for decades has
changed very little. The hypothesis is correct, that there is a lack of present when it comes to
women of color in the television news media. Consequently, no data sets are available that has
discussed the prevalence of racism and sexism in broadcast journalism. My theory of Spiral of
Silence reflects that, women of color, value their jobs and fear that if they voice their opinion
they could lose their jobs. The lack of dataset does not completely rule out that the spiral of
silence theory is applicable in this setting, but that current available studies do not focus on the
reason for the lack of representation. Tabnie Dozier, said that the road to become a lead anchor
for women of color takes grit, determination the struggles present, keep pressing forward (Dozier,
Personal Communication, 2018). With our local news station data there are only 6 women of
color in lead anchor jobs compared to 45 white females during the same job. The national
morning news show has similar results, only 3 women of color that are in lead anchor roles. To
increase the validity of this analysis, including cable network news in this study, which would have
impacted the finding greatly. There were studies that I found that mainly focus on women in
general, but not women of color, but the dates of these studies were outdated. There were no
studies shown that reflected on the lack of women of color in television news and the reason why.
There were articles that showcase women of color that has made a difference in the television

George Bush Speech On Homeland Security
George Bush vs Obama on Homeland Security George bush and Obama have very differing
opinions on homeland security and terrorism from their different experiences during presidency.
George Bush was president of the United States when the world trade centers were the target of
a terror attack. 9/11 was the day that changed our country forever. During his presidency he also
had to deal with the war in Iraq from the beginning. Unlike Bush, Obama does not agree in war
and insisted on taking our soldiers out of Iraq and back home. Although we weren t involved as
much in the war we did kill Osama bin Laden while Obama has been in office. Both Bush and
Obama come from very different backgrounds and served as presidents at different time periods,
so obviously have very different opinions on how to run the country and especially on homeland
security. I am using Bush s remarks in address to the nation at the Cross Hall for his speech. For
Obamas speech, I will be using a speech from the 2012 State of Union Address. The two speeches

Hotel-Booking Market
PROMOTIONAL CHANNELS
Hotel booking market is heating up its rivalry, as Hotel sales in the U.S. and European online
hotel bookings market are projected to increase by 16 percent to $79 billion next year, from $68
billion in 2012. Travel related inquiries on search engines are now second most searched topics,
surpassing shopping, according to WordStream Inc., a developer of search marketing software.
Competitors for this segment include travel advertisers such as Expedia, TripAdvisor and Orbitz

booking giant, boosted annual ad spending to more than $1 billion. The competition strategy over
other booking websites like Expedia and Google have raised questions about the benefits of
promoting online versus good old fashion TV campaigning. Online advertising is preferred method
today as it provides consumers a quick way to compare prices and complete the transaction all in
one step. Online channels recently included social networking services Facebook and Twitter take
a majority share of the web advertising market. Second portion of that share is still spent for ads
on search sites. With major decline in money spent on TV campaigns, Priceline is one of the
companies still heavily vested in TV ads and continues to use that promotion channel to raise brand
awareness. Also, in 2013 TripAdvisor, the hotel reviews site, started to broadcast its first TV

The Effects Of Malaria On The World s Poorest
CUNY Nobel Science Challenge Around 300 600 million people suffer from malaria each year,
and over one million people die from this disease every year, mostly children younger than five.
This disease is endemic to over 100 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and
the South Pacific, almost 40% of the world population. Malariais caused by a parasite that is
transferred by the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito. The most deadly form of
malaria is known as Plasmodium falciparum because almost all deaths from malaria are caused
by this specific one. In addition to being the deadliest form of malaria, Plasmodium falciparum
destroys red blood cells along with causing complications with the kidneys, lungs, and brain. In
more serious cases, it can cause permanent neurological effects and even death. As the Nobel
Assembly said at the announcement of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, Diseases
caused by parasites have plagued humankind for a millennium and constitute a major global health
problem. In particular, parasitic diseases affect the world s poorest populations and represent a
huge barrier to improving human health and wellbeing . Youyou Tu, one of the winners of the
prize, discovered Artemisinin, a drug that has significantly reduced the mortality rates for patients
suffering from malaria by killing the malaria parasites an early stage of their development. The

The Marketing Mix 1: Products, Brands Their Distribution
Question 1: Explain what Fournier means by having a relationship with a brand.
Establishing a relationship with a product brand sounds like a strange thing, we often have
numerous relationships with the brands of products we purchase without even knowing why we
do. The article by Fournier plainly defines that for a relationship with a brand to exist there must be
some kind of interdependence between the product and the partner. The interdependence with the
brand may be emotionally, economically, Robert B. Hinde (1979) best defines this interdependence
relationship;

The two brands I have chosen from the product categories are a dentist and auto repair. Let s first
look at the dentist and try and decipher if a customer could have a relationship with this provided
service. When you visit the dentist you can pretty much say that it becomes a personal experience.
When you allow someone to open your mouth and stick sharp objects in it, you must or have
developed some kind of relationship with that individual. That relationship may have been
established over time through quality service or you have visited this dentist as a kid. How does
this apply to someone who visits this dentist for the first time? A bond of trustworthiness must be
initially established by a first time customer to complete the dyad. When dealing in a human to
human interaction, and especially with a medical procedure being accomplished, relationships are
essential. Both parties in this dyad are essentially providing a service to each other which clearly
establishes a formed relationship with this service or individual brand.
When trying to define a relationship with an auto repair service brand I believe that there is also a
clear relationship in this matter also. Trustworthiness is also a major factor in this relationship, who
would want to take their automobile to an auto repair service that they do not

Comedy in Don Quixote
Q.2 Wherein lies the comedy in part one of Don Quixote?
The story Don Quixote is a burlesque, mock epic of the romances of chivalry, in which Cervantes
teaches the reader the truth by creating laughter that ridicules. Through the protagonist, he succeeds
in satirizing Spain s obsession with the noble knights as being absurdly old fashioned. The
dynamics of the comedy in this story are simple, Don Quixote believes the romances he has read
and strives to live them out, and it is his actions and the situations that he finds himself in during his
adventures that make the reader laugh. We can define comedy as something that entertains the
reader and that makes us want to laugh out loud and Cervantes succeeds in doing this through his

Consequently, most of the situations that Don Quixote is placed in during his ridiculous quest
are excellent examples of slapstick comedy. The reader is highly entertained by Don Quixote on
his adventures during which he implicitly believes that he is like the knights in the novels he has
read and so; he logically believes his own fiction. The reader is embarrassed when Don Quixote
decides that by choosing a new name for himself, his horse, his lady and his friends that this will
suffice in making him a knight. Just like he shaped his own appearance, he chooses his name as
Don Quixote de La Mancha and this becomes one of the most prominent jokes of the book. It is
a name that is undignified and pretentious but simultaneously amusing because La Mancha is a
dry, sparsely populated region of Spain, which is exactly what a knight should avoid. The suffix
ote was considered derogatory at that time and it is even funny sounding. We are skeptical from
the very beginning as to whether or not Don Quixote is worthy of the title Don and our suspicions
are confirmed when he fails to assist people in distress like any good knight should. It is highly
entertaining when AndrГ©s specifically asks Don Quixote not to complicate his life with any more

The most essential reason of methadone being such a controversy is that methadone has potential
side effects, such as drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision , and thus can put someone under the
danger of an automobile accident. It is true that the defendant may be convicted of DUI by
methadone due to his inconsistent driving, but the conviction depends on a two part test by the
prosecution. First, the blood test conducted at a state approved and certified lab must show
appropriate threshold levels of the drug in the defendant s system (Goodnough 1). Secondly, the
police and the prosecution must prove that the driver who tests positive for the medication was
impaired to the point that he or she was incapable of safe driving (Goodnough 1). However, both of
these tests are subjective measurements of one s level of impairment, and therefore, cannot avoid
having some uncertainties.
During the blood test, for example, the presence of clots in the blood sample can artificially
increase the drug concentration on the report since blood is a heterogeneous mixture, which often
forms clots. The possibility of blood clotting cannot be ignored because it occurs very frequently

Michelangelo s Last Judgement Analysis
Michelangelo s Last Judgement is a depiction of the second coming of Christ and captures the
moment when God judges all human beings. With over 300 nude figures in the fresco, there was
a lot of controversy. Many of those who opposed the work were those who believed it to be
something that belonged in a bath house rather than a church because of the images being shown.
One of the most prominent features of the fresco is that all the figures have a very muscular
physique, which was what Michelangelowas most known for. Although the work faced an extreme
amount of criticism during the time, it now receives high praises and is one of the most notable
pieces of art in the world. In this fresco Michelangelo is capturing the force and triumph of the
most feared moments in the future, while retaining the purity and power of nature by representing
all of humanity as nude and muscular. One of the Last Judgment s most prominent detail that has
caused debate since it was first made was the fact that all the figures depicted were nude. Nudity
was an immense issue during the time especially for those supportive of the Catholic churches
counter reformation. One of those people is Biagio da Cesena who is noted in Schlitt s text as
saying that the excessive number and shameful representation of the nudes made it better suited to
a bath house or tavern than to the honored place it occupied. Michelangelo was so committed to

The State Of Nature Is An Important And Relevant...
Erich Harkema
Prof. Wolfe
10/1/14
Intro: The state of nature is an important and relevant philosophical idea that has been discussed
and debated for a long time. The reason it is such a key topic in philosophy is it delves into the
reasoning behind why man had to create political society. In order to properly understand the
philosophy of the state of nature it is important to look at conflicting viewpoints about it in order to
understand it with less bias. Thomas Hobbes and Jean Jacques Rosseau both have differing
viewpoints regarding the state of nature. Hobbes feels that man s natural state is cowardly, fearful,
almost paranoid, so man created political society in order to protect himself. Rosseau, on the other
hand, feels that man was much happier before political society was created. Their viewpoints differ
regarding the state of nature, man s phase after leasing their state of nature, and the basis and
legitimacy of the social contract.
Hobbes and Rousseau s views on man s state of nature are quite different. Hobbes feels that man
is naturally brutish, and constantly in a state of misery due to the fact that everyone else is your
adversary and may act as they see fit. Due to this natural state, anyone could simply kill you in your
sleep, like the coward that they naturally are. Hobbes felt that because man did not understand good
and evil, man responds with violence or panic: Hobbes maintains that man is naturally intrepid and
seeks only to attack and fight...And

But nowadays, women has become more powerful and even gradually take men s place in the art
world and gain more achievements for themselves. What have been changed throughout many
years of art history? Throughout the length of this essay, I will explore this problem by giving the
brief view about gender bias and the way it affects women artists in the art world from the past,
then mainly discuss about how women has overcome gender bias, in order to be succeeded in art
world nowadays.
Gender bias is known as the inclination towards or the prejudice against one gender, which are
women in art world in this circumstance. This is an unequal treatment in employment opportunity,
such as privileges or benefits (Oxford dictionary). It is also known as women discrimination.
According to Inga Muscio, Remedios Varo did not receive the recognition she deserved because of

How Did The Cold War Containment The U.S. had a foreign policy of containment during the Cold War and wished to stop the spread of communism by the Soviets because they send economic aid to Western European countries and they collaborate with democratic nations who are resisting subjugation. The containment policy resulted in the joining of NATO (i.e. the end of isolationism) and the majorly successful Truman Doctrine, Marshall Plan, and the Berlin airlift. Those policies paved the road to stop the spread of communism to the Western European countries and Asia. • 4. The Importance Of Stage Directions In Shakespeare s Romeo... In the very beginning of Act 1, Scene 1 of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, there is a fight between the Montagues and the Capulets servants about them biting their thumbs at each other; biting their thumbs at each other was a sign of disrespect. The variations in the intonation, tones, and stage directions in the four different variations of the scene, show the viewer or the audience how differently they were created and how each director has different ideas about how it should look and sound. They had different ideas about how to show the emotions of the characters. The stage directions in the first scene by George Cukor are pretty general. They show how the characters do have a rivalry with each other. During the fight, you could tell that each person had different directions to follow during the fight. During the second scene by Alvin Rakoff, they had more emotionin their actions, which you could tell was through their stage directions. They showed confidence and courage with their tones. The scene created by Franco Zeffirelli has very confident tones radiating from the actors. They each do not show fear. Their voices show us that they both think they are better than the other. In the last scene by Baz Luhrmann, there are very intense tones being put to use. Despite of the fast growing business, the NCAA remains non profit and labels the players student athletes to mark them amateur. With this label, athletes are recognized as student first and athlete second. Scholastics are supposed to be prioritized over athletics, however with the growing industry the lines are being blurred. Ed O Bannon, a previous UCLA basketball player filed a case looking to sue the NCAA for licensing players without consent. The NCAA marks their players as amateurs, therefore, they do not allow paying players. However after the ruling, the NCAA was found to be violating antitrust laws, which could potentially change the model of the system (Maese). Judge Claudia Wilken ruled an injunction that schools in the NCAA would be allowed to provide players a trust fund in order to compensate players for using their names in broadcasting, merchandise or imaging. In 2016, this trust fund will allow universities to conduct bidding wars for future recruits (Strauss, Tracy). This definition along with abounding others refers to animal activity. However it is more common for humans to do something savage or cruel than it is for animals. To be blunt we as humans have committed horrendous, disgraceful, inhuman acts of violence and repulsion towards other humans and animals. This is often displayed in H.G. • 15. Desire In The Symposium In Plato s The Symposium, a group of well versed men consider philosophical arguments, specifically regarding the role desire plays in a virtuous life. As academics and philosophers who hold high rank in the social system of ancient Greece, these men are praised for their wisdom and eloquence. One such philosopher, Pausanias, gives a speech early in the text that addresses desire as a multifaceted concept, setting the tone for the novel. The Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Indian text that is much revered in modern Hindu culture, considers the same concepts of desire and virtue, but is written as a dialogue between the warrior prince Arjuna and his charioteer, the deity Krishna. Therefore, for Pausanias, desire of such worldly and mortal objects is a manifestation of an inferior type of love. Of the man who succumbs to this love, Pausanias says, He is not constant, because he loves something that is not constant: as soon as the bloom of the body fades, which is what attracted him, he flies away and is gone , bringing disgrace on all he said and promised, (Plato 16). The fickle nature of worldly desire is illuminated by the flower metaphor Pausanias uses; the beauty of a flower, the bloom, is akin to the superficiality of earthly desire, and neither is the foundation of lasting love. Physical desire and the resulting attachment to the material world cause disgrace for the soul who delights in such cravings. While Pausanias warns against over attachment to physical objects in The Symposium, the deity Krishna completely condemns the material world in The Bhagavad Gita. For Krishna, desire of sensuous objects is the root of evil, trapping the soul and bringing it harm.Concerned only with these sensuous object, Arjuna is rebuked on the battlefield by Krishna, who says, Contacts with matter make us feel heat and cold, pleasure and pain. Arjuna, you must learn to endure fleeting things they come and go! (Miller 33). Krishna extends Pausanias s warning to all physicality, saying that desire of any physicality is dangerous to the soul. Social Justice And Its Entire Entity Social Justice in its entire entity: The Final Countdown to Defining Social Justice Kaylie Ines ID 201: Social Justice Dr. Jorsch Dr. Van Tassel Fear and cruelty are the weapons of animals, not humanity, and social injustices derive from fear the masked ego of one who has sustained through power: white power. It is only fair to continue to talk about social injustice by defining what is social justice. Social justice embodies a framework (and certainly not limited to) a community, a united nation, equitable in standing together in belief and acceptance of diversity; equality; freedom; and equal opportunity to income and its privileges. Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States of America proclaims that a house divided cannot stand. I believe President Lincoln is correct with his statement, if the house is not endowed in a universal cause and foundation, then the infrastructure is faulty and will collapse. Here is how this connects to social justice, if that same house is not socially just, separation will impel and will cause dilapidation within the foundation. This paper will implement foci on Michelle Alexander s (The New Jim Crow) approach of the social issue of a new Jim Crow system of mass incarceration in a colorblind society, and Barbara Ehrenreich s (Nickle and Dimed) notion to the social injustice that derives from a capitalistic driven society that undermines the working lower class men and women. Abstract (In progress) Isotopic profiles of mollusks provide insight to the biology of fossil and living specimen and the conditions under which they live in. Isotopic profiles record seasonal variance in temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen concentrations and can provide evidence of changes in bio mineralization in correlation with seasonality and ontology. The shells of Tridacnaare beneficial for Pleistocene paleoceanography isotopic studies because of their large size making it easier to gain detailed samples of shell carbonate. The density of the shell better preserves original carbonate of the shell. • 19. The Most Notable Irish Politicians Of The 19th Century And... John Dillon is one of the most notable Irish politicians of the later 19th century and early 20th century. He was an avid home rule advocate, a leader in the Irish Parliamentary Party, and a devout follower of Charles Parnell. He was jailed several times for his political activity within the home rule cause. In May of 1881, he wrote this letter out of Kilmainham Gaol, where he was imprisoned. One of the first notable things seen is the actual stationary, which is has black edges. Black edged stationery was mostly used for mourning stationary during the Victorian era. It was used when a family member died. Dillon s sister Christina had died from tuberculosis in December 1880, prompting him to use the black edge stationary. Dillon wrote the letter in Kilmainham Gaol, located in Dublin. It was opened in 1796, and was used to house political prisoners, as well as others. Notable prisoners held here were Dillon, Dillon s mentor Charles Stewart Parnell, Robert Emmet, The Invincibles, along with other Home Rule advocates and independence seekers. It was abandoned in 1924 due to aging infrastructure. Interest in its refurbishment began in 1966. Today, the gaol serves as a museum open to the public, operated by the Irish Office of Public Works. While many older people have heard of the song sound of silence by Simon and Garfunkel most of the younger generation have only heard of the song by Disturbed with many people believing that disturbed wrote the song in the first place. Most people have never heard of Touch of Glass let alone that they sung this cover. The most major difference I have found between all 3 songs is the mood that artist gives off. With Simon and Garfunkel giving off more of a upbeat and funky mood that makes the song seem to have good feelings attached to it. Then Disturbed gives off more of a dark and foreboding mood that leaves the listener feeling lonely. Then Touch of Glass in my opinion gives off a more country and western mood that shows hardship in life. Simon and Garfunkel is trying to show silence and darkness as more of a friend that you are glad to see and to show that silence is not a bad thing with their tone. Disturbed on the other hand is trying to show the sound of silence and darkness as more of a old friend you would rather not meet until the very end. A critical factor for biblical interpretation is context and nowhere is this point truer than Romans 13: 1 7. For instance, one source confirms that One of the main aims of the Apollo missions of the 1960s was to determine whether the moon had any water on it. If man were to build a colony on the moon, having water present would make living there easier (Anand, Barnes, Mortimer, and Tartese). As research continued scientist finally found evidence of water on lunar poles. Source admits that This polar water on the moon was confirmed by American space agency NASA s LCROSS mission in 2010. Then, another exciting discovery came about through NASA s Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) instrument onboard India s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 37. Allusion In John Cuddon s The Moon And The Stars 12)ДЌa:nd Й”r ta:re (Moon and Stars) In the poem The Moon and the Stars, show the star fatigue caused by the eternal journey. The moon reminds them that movement is the essence of life and only those who endure; those who are tired will die. The poet recognizes that the arrest of the movement leads to historical gains; Human history is prescribed in a universe where change is the eternal law of time. But the universe continues to grow and numerous treasures complement its history at every moment. Iqbal finds hope in the consciousness of this eternal change. 4.2. 2: Allusion Cuddon (1992) stated that, Allusion is usually an implicit reference, perhaps to another work of literature or art, to a person or an event. It is often a kind of appeal to a reader to share some experience with the writer. An allusion may enrich the work by association and give it depth. When using allusion a writer tends to assume an established literary tradition, a body of common knowledge with an audience sharing that tradition and an ability on the part of the audience to pick up the reference. The following kinds may be roughly distinguished: A reference to events and people, Reference to facts about the author himself, a metaphorical allusion, an imitative allusion . Allusion is a brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance. It does not describe in detail the person or thing to which it refers. It is just a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most essential reason of methadone being such a controversy is that methadone has potential side effects, such as drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision , and thus can put someone under the danger of an automobile accident. It is true that the defendant may be convicted of DUI by methadone due to his inconsistent driving, but the conviction depends on a two part test by the prosecution. First, the blood test conducted at a state approved and certified lab must show appropriate threshold levels of the drug in the defendant s system (Goodnough 1). Secondly, the police and the prosecution must prove that the driver who tests positive for the medication was impaired to the point that he or she was incapable of safe driving (Goodnough 1). However, both of these tests are subjective measurements of one s level of impairment, and therefore, cannot avoid having some uncertainties. During the blood test, for example, the presence of clots in the blood sample can artificially increase the drug concentration on the report since blood is a heterogeneous mixture, which often forms clots. The possibility of blood clotting cannot be ignored because it occurs very frequently for many reasons, such as certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Michelangelo s Last Judgement Analysis Michelangelo s Last Judgement is a depiction of the second coming of Christ and captures the moment when God judges all human beings. With over 300 nude figures in the fresco, there was a lot of controversy. Many of those who opposed the work were those who believed it to be something that belonged in a bath house rather than a church because of the images being shown. One of the most prominent features of the fresco is that all the figures have a very muscular physique, which was what Michelangelowas most known for. Although the work faced an extreme amount of criticism during the time, it now receives high praises and is one of the most notable pieces of art in the world. In this fresco Michelangelo is capturing the force and triumph of the most feared moments in the future, while retaining the purity and power of nature by representing all of humanity as nude and muscular. One of the Last Judgment s most prominent detail that has caused debate since it was first made was the fact that all the figures depicted were nude. Nudity was an immense issue during the time especially for those supportive of the Catholic churches counter reformation. One of those people is Biagio da Cesena who is noted in Schlitt s text as saying that the excessive number and shameful representation of the nudes made it better suited to a bath house or tavern than to the honored place it occupied. Michelangelo was so committed to making every person in the Sistine Chapelnaked, which was to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The State Of Nature Is An Important And Relevant... Erich Harkema Prof. Wolfe 10/1/14 Intro: The state of nature is an important and relevant philosophical idea that has been discussed and debated for a long time. The reason it is such a key topic in philosophy is it delves into the reasoning behind why man had to create political society. In order to properly understand the philosophy of the state of nature it is important to look at conflicting viewpoints about it in order to understand it with less bias. Thomas Hobbes and Jean Jacques Rosseau both have differing viewpoints regarding the state of nature. Hobbes feels that man s natural state is cowardly, fearful, almost paranoid, so man created political society in order to protect himself. Rosseau, on the other hand, feels that man was much happier before political society was created. Their viewpoints differ regarding the state of nature, man s phase after leasing their state of nature, and the basis and legitimacy of the social contract. Hobbes and Rousseau s views on man s state of nature are quite different. Hobbes feels that man is naturally brutish, and constantly in a state of misery due to the fact that everyone else is your adversary and may act as they see fit. Due to this natural state, anyone could simply kill you in your sleep, like the coward that they naturally are. Hobbes felt that because man did not understand good and evil, man responds with violence or panic: Hobbes maintains that man is naturally intrepid and seeks only to attack and fight...And ... • 42. Who Remedios Varo Is By Inga Muscio Throughout the art history, women have been involved in making art, whether as creators and innovators of new forms of artistic expression, patrons, collectors, sources of inspiration, or significant contributors as art historians and critics. Women have been and continue to be integral to the institution of art, but despite being engaged with the art world in every way, many women artistshave found opposition in the traditional narrative of art history. They have faced challenges due to genderbiases, from finding difficulty in training to selling their work and gaining recognition. What have been changed throughout many years of art history? Throughout the length of this essay, I will explore this problem by giving the brief view about gender bias and the way it affects women artists in the art world from the past, then mainly discuss about how women has overcome gender bias, in order to be succeeded in art world nowadays. Gender bias is known as the inclination towards or the prejudice against one gender, which are women in art world in this circumstance. This is an unequal treatment in employment opportunity, such as privileges or benefits (Oxford dictionary). It is also known as women discrimination. According to Inga Muscio, Remedios Varo did not receive the recognition she deserved because of the male social system. The white, male portion gave them the authority to present art as an artist but not women. Women did not have a right and had been excluded from the process of creating art (202). So, what had happened in the 19th century, which prevented Muscio from gaining her recognition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
