On Bruce Springsteen s Song Born In The USA
Born in the U.S.A. The song Born in the U.S.A. was written by Bruce springsteen. Bruce grew up in
New Jersey, and shows it in this song. Bruce is widely known for his americana, working class poetic
lyrics. The song is about the mistreatment of Vietnamese War veterans, but people believe Born in the
U.S.A. is a real patriotic song, when in reality they just misunderstand the deeper connotation .Bruce
himself did not serve in the Vietnam War. He was called upon to serve, but did not meet requirements.
This song was meant to defend the veterans, his use of diction ,repetition , and comparisons
throughout the song to meets that purpose rather than just patriotism. Bruce Springsteen was born in
Long Beach, New Jersey in 1949. He was known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song is from the point of view of a soldier just returning home that tries to get a job at the
refinery. The man doing the interviews for the refinery will not hire him, for fear of backlash from the
public, and other workers not cooperating with him. Veterans were not appreciated because America s
public thought they killed innocent women, and children in the war. So when he went to see the v.a.
man , v.a. means veteran affairs, he was trying to seek help, but he man could not do anything for him
because the veterans were looked down so poorly, and that what is not understood by the man in the
story (Behind The Song: Bruce Springsteen, Born In The U.S.A. American Songwriter). That concept
of not being liked is understood by Bruce Springsteen and he is ashamed. That the men that went to
defend our freedom, and put their lives at risk were wrong by the people from the same place, the
U.S.A., which he repeats a lot in the

Critical Comparison of Porphyrias Lover and My Last Dutchess
Critical Comparison of Porphyrias Lover and My Last Dutchess
Both of these poems are based around the concept of power and possesion. They tell the story of
obssesional lovers. The effect of using dramatic monologue to convey this idea is very effective.
The first poem, Porphyrias Lover, was written in the mid ninteenth century, around 1842. It is the
dramatic monologue of the Lover. It is not made known who the recipient of this poem is. I believe it
to be an internal monologue, the Lover is going through in his head the events of the previous day and
night.
The use of only one person speaking gives off the dominance which is important in the understanding
of both poems.
The lover also shows his abnormal character, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After he has done this he believes she blushed bright beneath my burning Kiss. This behavior is both
neurotic and frightening.
Porphyria is seen as being graceful, she glides through the door and also as a very warm person, by the
way she brings warmth into the cottage, When she came in she shut the cold and the storm out . As the
reader reads on we see her seductiveness, she put my arm about her waist and made her shoulder bare
After this has happened the
Lover states his critisisem of her. He says she is too weak and proud and vain. This however tells more
about the character of the
Lover than that of Porphyria, it shows his very high expectations and his dissatisfaction.
We are led to believe the cottage in which they meet is isolated and that it doesn t belong to either of
them. This gives us the sense of secrecy and seclusion which is reflected in their love for each other.
There also seems to be barriers between where Porphyria has come from and the cottage , like the
storm. This is also true in their relationship, and I think this comparative difference is a very effective
image in putting across the sense of troubles that she encounters because of her inadequacy.
The poem moves on to be very warm and loving in contrast to this previous image of the storm. Yet
the idea of a hidden uneasiness is shown subtly show through the

Financial Crisis Of The Great Depression
Great economic times in America
The Great Recession and the Great Depression are the aftermath of mostly similar economic
difficulties and are only different in a few respects. Each period is marked by a massive run ups in
asset prices followed by a crash in the stock market and sent both debt and equity markets down.
These periods are said to be the worse economic downturn in the country s history. During the great
depression, as banks failed and threatened to shut down the financial system altogether, President
Franklin Roosevelt moved quickly and effectively to address the most dangerous financial crisis of the
Great depression. During the great depression, the stock market collapse that began in October 1929
took away huge amount of wealth due to the greedy activities of the financial institutions who lent out
money hastily and later had less even in their reserves. He created the New Deal which responded to
an unemployment rate that had reached 25 percent, and in some cities as much as 75 percent. He
signed the Emergency Banking Act, where investigators deemed it right for banks to continue their
operations. The Glass Steagall Act created a barrier between commercial and investment banking and
established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which provides a warranty that customers
funds will be secured(Brinkley) .

The Craft Beer Industry How Brew Stooges Made Their Mark...
Company Overview During this presentation we will be going into depths concerning the craft beer
industry and how Brew Stooges made their mark on the industry in Huntsville, Alabama. Five years
ago, in early 2010, there was a single brewery in Huntsville, Alabama, one brewery, and the only of its
kind to open since the repeal of national prohibition in 1933. The city literally went for a span of 71
years without a single commercially brewed local beer.
As of June 2015, there are eight breweries in Huntsville, soon to be nine. This smallish southern city,
population 180,000, has undergone a total transformation as far as its craft brewing industry is
concerned. Like so many other American cities, beer has come into the vogue, but few if any can
claim to have experienced such as a rapid, radical, city defining seismic shift. In just five years, old
veteran brewing presences have been established and a younger generation has come along to reap the
rewards of a clientele that continues to refine its taste. It s still very much a work in progress, but to
compare the before and after statistics is shocking. Thanks to a timely repeal of some antiquated laws
that held the brewing industry back a home brewing ban, an ABV cap, a ban on large format bottles
craft beer is now free to thrive.
None of this would likely have happened without the first brewery, the now defunct Olde Towne
Brewing Company, which opened in 2004 to snap the 71 year drought. It s difficult to overstate

Nintendo Switch Essay
7 Games that Should Be on Nintendo Switch
While the initial hype around the Nintendo Switch has fallen away, there are still many of us who
enjoy this neat little console. It is actually a rather portable device and it does make hanging out with
friends while playing games an enjoyable experience well, as long as you keep winning! Now, while
there are some great games you can play on the console yes, we re talking about Zelda you still have
plenty of titles out there that are not on it. A number of these gaming titles would also make great
Switch games.
Here are the seven games that should be on Nintendo Switch.
Pokemon Red/Blue

and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, unlike some of the other titles on the list this one might be a rather hopeful edition rumours
suggest the trilogy might be coming out on Nintendo Switch.
Star Fox Adventures 2
Another extremely fun game to play on the Nintendo Switch console would be Star Fox. The ability to
move around with your console and to do it more than with the Wii U would make flying rocket
powered mopeds a lot of fun. Not to mention that we ve not been treated with a proper Star Fox game
for years, even though the last game was highly acclaimed. The problem with seeing Star Fox pop up
on Switch might be the fact that the gaming company behind it, Rare, has been bought by Xbox. But
w can still hope.
South Park: The Stick of Truth
The Nintendo Switch also requires quite a bit of fun action. We don t want gaming to just be serious
business and to give us some laughter, we all rely on South Park. As the new game in the franchise is
coming out hopefully sooner rather than later the franchise could also announce it will find it s way on
Twitch. If we had to pick an old South Park game, the Stick of Truth would certainly be on the cards.
Metroid Prime 4
This anticipated title is coming to Nintendo but there has been no official announcement that it would
be making its way on Switch. But it really should, as it is one of the best sci fi serious out there and
that s saying a lot. The previous versions have had great mechanics in

Top 3 Fear Research Paper
Fear is, an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to
cause pain, or a threat. I don t have many fears; however, the ones that I do have are extreme. My top
3 fears are; Thanatophobia The fear of death, Entomophobia the fears of bugs or fear of insects, and
Nyctophobia The fear of darkness. I am afraid of death because of two reasons the first reason is
because the feeling is becoming normal and the second one is if I die who will miss me. So many
people that are close either killed or die of natural causes. I know I can t change the process of life
when it all boils down to them just growing old but the feeling stills hurts. One minute they are here
living happy then the next they just slither away with in the arms of the grim ripper and to me that is
scary. Also, my other fear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I fear the cold death will snatch me up like a snake catching its prey, but it ll be too late for me to

Also, my other fear is Entomophobia this is the fear of bugs. It is just the way it moves and look;
however, the three bugs that scare me the most is spiders, centipedes, and bees. Spider scares me the
most because they move so sneaky yet, so fast ready to spring into action. I think what scares me the
most about spiders is that they can come in all shapes, sizes and colors. You never can know which
ones are poisoning because some are the exact same color. However, Centipedes creep me out just as
much as spiders. They are long but, they can blast off like a rocket freaking you out, trying to run for

To His Excellency General Washington By Phillis Wheatley
In the poem To His Excellency General Washington the author Phillis Wheatley incorporates many
themes to show the strength the new nation, America, actually has. Wheatley uses these themes to
incorporate them into a bigger idea. He uses themes of freedom, grand hero and divine rights. All of
these come together to help mold the view of George Washington as the father of our country. By
having all these themes molded into the poem based on Washington builded up to a view that he is a
patriot and a leader. All these themes are built together with freedom as the building block that helps
connect the other themes. The themes of freedom, heroism, and divine rights all build a view that
makes Washington be viewed like a saint. The theme

Lying In The Truth For The Liar
Margaret Moran Dressen Hour 6 05/26/18
The Truth for the Liar Although lying is sometimes used as an easy way out of trouble or a quick save
from having to admit something you don t want to , lying and hiding things can actually ruin
relationships by leaving the receiver of the lie questioning why was it necessary to lie. In relationships
of all types, there is a mutual trust that is set between the two persons , that trust started off weak but
then over time developed into a wonderful relationship. A relationship needs to have trust in order to
completely flourish and have a long lasting friendship. According to Christine Hammond from

Lying is still a part of history that repeats itself , we have not learned yet that our government should
be honest and truthful with the entire population. Reflecting back on the 2 years since Donald Trump
has been elected , the lies do seem to follow him like a swarm of angry bees. Numerous amounts of
time there has been speculation regarding the validity of the things that Trump says. Trump has come
in contact with many significant problems that have played major roles in degrading his respect as a
president , whether that might be the trouble with stormy daniels , putin and the sexual accusations by
women who he had met. Trump really lowers his respect when he also makes racist remarks towards
many minorities in the United States which has also led him to be seen as the more unfavorable
president. How does that affect our country? The president of the United States should be considerate
for all of the world s people, these other countries must be looking at the United States thinking what
have we been doing. Back to the subject of lying , Donald Trump has so much money and is so
famous that often we just completely forget the wrongful things that he is capable of doing. If Trump
were more upfront and honest, we just might have a brighter

Standardized Tests Argument
Standardized tests argument Do we really need 20 25 hours for testing? Some people think testing is
fine the way it is. I think testing needs a change. We spend way too much time doing standardized
tests that don t even measure the skills people need in life. My main pieces of evidence are, the
government is suggesting shorter tests, many other factors can affect standardized test scores, and my
last piece of evidence is standardized tests don t measure all the skills people need in life. My first
piece of evidence is the government is suggesting shorter tests. Kids spend on average 20 25 hours

One thing standardized tests doesn t measure is creativity, or how well we think about it. Another
thing is verbal skills, it doesn t measure how well we speak or read. We ve been taking the same IQ

paragraph explains that standardized tests don t measure all the skills people need in life. Some people
believe the test does not need to be changed and that it is just fine. 20 25 hours of testing is just the
right amount of testing to give the correct data. I think not, it still does not measure life skills and it is
way too long. So now you know why the test needs changing. This essay explains why we need

Plate Tectonics Video Analysis
The first video was on plate tectonics, the building blocks of earth. The focus was on the interior
workings of the earth and it described the movement of the earth and the process of redistribution. The
earth is made up of several surfaces and the plates are rigid slabs of solid rock that move around the
earth s crust and upper part of the mantel. They wrap around the globe like a net and interact at
boundaries, such as land and ocean.
There are three types of place boundaries, convergent, divergent and transform. Convergent
boundaries are regions that develop when two tectonic plates collide. The area surrounding the
collision becomes mountainous as the plates buckle. This happens through a process called
subduction. Divergent boundaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different structural arrangements in the carbon atoms determine the outcome of the mineral.
Diamonds are the hardest mineral; they are formed under a covalent bond which is very strong.
Graphite on the other hand is one of the softest; it is held with a softer bond. Despite the difference in
structure, both of these minerals are made from the same substance, pure carbon.
Silicates are minerals that contain oxygen and silicon. These two elements can be found in 90% of the
earths minerals. While they do not produce the beauty of diamonds or the wealth of gold, they are
used in the making of construction material. The element in silicon is a common ingredient in many
products in the computing industry.

Although the cost of medical school is great, some may point out that many hospitals offer incentives
for doctors. With this, specialist doctors mainly surgeons receive loan forgiveness and do not have to

When doctors are searching for a place to reside some hospitals will offer a bonus usually between
24,000 to 150,000 depending on what specialty doctor one is. These bonuses however, are a one time

Heise says that with this large number of elderly taking up the population there will be a shortage of
doctors due to the idea that society has done a poor job of valuing the elderly. She says that negative
or neutral attitudes towards the elderly are common in this youth oriented society because the youth of
today lack interest and caring of other individuals including the elderly (Heise et al). This type of
attitude prevents the care that is needed for those who will take care of people as doctors in the United
States; therefore, the second cause of the doctor shortage is in fact lack of care. In fact according to a
study because of the lack of interest in one year only 75 residents entered the geriatrics field. The
study shows that if this rate continues the number of needed specialist in geriatrics will rise to

My Field Placement Will Be At Child Protective Services Essay
Introduction
My field placement will be at Child protective services in El Paso TX. The department of child
Protective Services withholds a wide range of services and responsibilities that include, investigating
reports of abuse and neglect of children, provide services to children and families in their homes,
providing services to help youth in foster care successfully transition to adulthood and helping
children find adoption. There are many subdivisions within the department itself which offers different
amenities during an open case with CPS, although these services solely justify the department, there is
a unit known as Family Based Services or also FBSS which focuses on resources that will strengthen
the family s privation in order to ensure child safety and wellbeing. The Department predominantly
benefits from task groups rather than treatment groups, because the department is on deadlines with

For this assignment; we have been asked to design the company s new Total Rewards package with
the objective of attracting and retaining the best talent. The first thing we have, to do is perform some
background research on best practices for benefit design. I am personally researching nonprofit
organization benefits and I am currently taking over the position as HR person for the company. There
are different benefits for different companies for instance a soup and other food companies would
probably focus on health care coverage because it is a food item, that used properly could be healthy

Some of the things we have come up with lately is finding places around the area that would provide a
discount price to your employees for their help and services to the company. I found an idea recently
to that gives employees who work on a certain day (non holidays) and consider them as company
holidays with an additional item for working those days. If it is an employee who can arrange to have
time off offer them an unpaid summer vacation for those that want it. Hire mostly part time or flex
time workers to accommodate for additional expenses that way you are not paying full time plus
additional benefits putting the company s budget at risk, also by offering the 401 or the 403b
retirement plan could be a plan but it must be one that does not match employee contribution, it can be
up to like 5% of what employee s base salary is, employer can always match amounts later if they
choose. I learned also in my research about what is called a flexible spending

Courageousness In The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini
In the attention grabbing book, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, which is about an Afghan boy,
Amir, growing up and dealing with the pain of mistakes and unfortunate circumstances. Amir manages
to hide his wrong doings until he receives a call from an old friend. Amir moves out of Afghanistan in
his late teenage years with his father Baba, a man who is courageous and hard to satisfy, not bringing
much with him besides a few clothing items and a whole lot of guilt for abandoning his friend Hassan.
To redeem himself, Amir travels back to Afghanistan as an adult facing challenges such as violence
and lack of courage to save his nephew and bring him to safety. Amir channels Baba s courageousness
when fighting with Assef, which then allows Amir to relieve the guilt he struggles with during the
story. Baba s actions clearly display his undeniable traits of courage and dissatisfaction in the first half
of the book. The fact that Baba is a strong and heroic man is easily identified by the reader at the
beginning of the book especially when a soldier requests to rape a wife as the price for the truck
passing through when Baba and Amir are escaping Afghanistan; however, Baba stands up to the
soldier saying, Tell him I ll take a thousand of his bullets before I let this indecency take place
(Hosseini 82). It is necessary for Hosseini to portray Baba as a courageous character because it
introduces the theme of guilt early when Amir lacks courage and feels poorly about

Science fiction is broadly defined as a film about the future or alternate realities, often but not always
set in space, and frequently incorporating horror elements, science fiction movies are wildly popular
among fans (Goodykoontz, 2014). As a subgenre of fantasy, science fiction enables viewers to relate
to themes from an idealized alternative version of reality (Edwards, 2014). Star Wars: Episode IV A
New Hope is a feature length film that fits this genre perfectly. Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope
unfolds as princess named Leia is held hostage by the evil Imperial forces in their effort to quell the

1. WHAT SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN COMPUTER SCIENCE? HOW DID THIS LEAD YOU

INFLUENCED THE GOALS YOU HAVE FOR YOURSELF.
The world of Computer Science has always been a fascinating field to me. Right from elementary
school when I was taught about the evolution of computers, from the early counting mechanisms
using the abacus to the father of computer s difference machine and down to reinventions of various
concepts, to what we have now in our modern day world as efficiently serving computers. Also while
growing up, I had an Uncle who lived with my family for a while. He was always trying to solve
Computer Science related programs. In fact, his room at the time was like a Computer laboratory, with
lots of gadgets and resources like infrared enhancing equipment, CPU systems all dismantled into
little pieces, lots of books and encyclopaedias on how to be an excellent computer programmer, to
different things I could not comprehend at the time but knew they were out of this world.
My passion for Computer Science is not just because of its intriguing nature but also because evidence
of reinventions constantly show that anyone can make a difference or contribution no matter how little
that contribution may be, which is why I believe the field of Computer Science to be continually
evolving day after day. All of these helped to not just

Statement of the research problem and hypothesis: According to the second article provided, the
research problem indicated is to verify whether or not virtual reality rehabilitation for stroke patients
causes enjoyment despite the level of difficulty, and if the effects of the rehabilitation will provide
functional benefits for the upper extremity (Chung, et al., 2016). The hypothesis provided in the article
is in regards to the implementation of the given strategies. These strategies will deem necessary the
level of progression through the program to ultimately have the patients carry out the activities while
experiencing a higher level of enjoyment (Chung, et al., 2016).
Identification of the study design: The authors of the article used a mixed method design using
qualitative and quantitative analyses (Chung, et al., 2016). This allows for the collection of data
through various means over time. Due to this, the study design would be considered longitudinal. The
study design is also considered to be a Cohort study because all the patients have a disease in common
in which there is research being done over time on them.
Brief description of the research methodology: Eight out of eleven stroke patients from various
backgrounds were chosen to partake in this study with virtual reality rehabilitation. The three that did

An Analysis Of Shakespeare s Henry IV
Centralizing a political theme of this whole saga is the consolidation of the country under the authority

Shakespeare tried to convey truthfully what is proclaimed to be war, and the personalities of others,
but a significant part of the latter consisted polemical writings exposed the machinations of
reactionary feudal lords and kings to chant. Consequently, this primarily explains the fact of what
Shakespeare idealized in Henry IV. Shakespeare described deviations from historical truth, but they
were not conscious of Shakespeare. An exception is the Shakespeare s desire to reduce the duration, to

The Spiritual Practice Of Sabbath
My life is full of habits. And a lot of them. Some of them are really good habits, but, unfortunately,
some of them are really bad. One of the bad habits I ve become accustomed to over the years is
working myself to my breakpoint and not taking a chance to breathe. More than that I tend to keep
busy way more often than I should be some simply over just trivial things. That is why I decided to
choose the spiritual practice of Sabbath where I took one 24 hour period in my week and dedicated it
to simply rest and rejuvenate and nothing more. Now by rest, I don t necessarily mean sleep, a lot of
times it was just doing what brings me pleasure and replenishes me instead of exhausting myself, or
giving to me, instead of taking from me.
Although I have heard people talking about the Sabbath growing up multiple times, I have never heard
it phrased like it was in this class: as a spiritual formative practice. To my dismay, that was all it has
been until this class. My extent of knowledge about Sabbath had only came from some of what I ve
read about it in the Bible. That was when the Jews practiced Sabbath as commanded under the Mosaic
Law, given to them when they were in the wilderness. Exodus 20:8 10 shares, Remember the Sabbath
day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to
the LORD your God. The Jews were allowed to do no work on this day, marked as Friday evening
until Saturday evening on the Jewish calendar.

Socioeconomic Status And Academic Achievement
Introduction:
There are many different factors that affect a student s academic success in the education system. One
of the main factors that play a part in a student academic success is where their family lies on the
socio economic scale. The components of socioeconomic status income, parent education and parent
occupation are each statistically significant predictors of student achievement (Buckingham, Wheldall,
Beamnan Whelldan, 2013). Socioeconomic status defines not just the income of an individual but also
that educational attainment, financial security, and subjective perceptions of social status and social
class (APA, 2017). Socioeconomic Status and Academic Achievement is an important topic to discuss
as many of our students in the education system are either on the bottom of the scale or the top and to
find accurate resources to help these students succeed academically we have to look at the research
regarding socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic status affects the human functioning overall psychical
and mental health. The research has found that students from families with lower social economic
status struggle more than those students who come from a higher social economic status due to the
slower development in academic skills as they are focused on so many different skills at one time than
those who are from higher socioeconomic status communities. Along with that, school systems in
lower socioeconomic status neighborhoods are often under resourced,

Necrophilia Cults
As defined by the American Heritage Dictionary a cult is 1) a system or community of religious
worship and ritual 2a) a devoted attachment to, or extravagant admiration for, a person, principle, etc.,
especially when regarded as a fad b) the object of such attachment 3) a group of followers; (Aronoff,
2000).
Some of the major features of cults as described by Whitsett et al. include family dynamics within
cults, child abuse, health issues, and moral development. A common/devastating repercussion of cult
participation is losing complete control by subjecting to leadership. Cult leaders are so controlling
they typically curtail and demolish relationships between families when they feel their loyalty is being
threatened. Members of cults are denied independence and all parental authority is diminished. Cults
tear families apart, take children away from their parents, and demand complete control over all of the
members.
An alarming ramification of participating in a cult is that the members are regularly facing feelings of
extreme shame and humiliation, in the community and at home. Children are forced into feelings of
humiliation and parental abandonment so that in turn they search for someone to look up to and
admire, in this case the cult leader. While, the adults within the cult are shamed into feeling less ...

Constitutional Law And The Legal System
With the media giving cost play to the term Constitutional , in reference to ongoing discussions
between the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch, some confusion concerning the power of
Constitutional Law and its foundation for our legal system is understandable. Constitutional law is not
confined to the founding document as the sole source of our legal system. It includes the past rulings
of the Supreme Court, as well as guidance given in the various writings of the original founding
fathers and the precedence of Common Law. Thus Constitutional Law encompasses the entire sphere
of American Jurisprudence and its continued evolution will have a resounding effect on both the rights
and liberties of the individual for generations to come. Division and Enumeration of Powers The first
three articles of the U.S. Constitution describe the division of power among the three branches of the
Federal Government. Article I, Sections 1 10 enumerate the powers and duties of the Legislative
branch. Article II, Sections 1 4 concern the powers and duties of the Executive Branch and Article III,
Sections 1 3 enumerates the duties and powers of the Legislative Branch. Significantly, the
enumerated powers are not an exhaustive list. Not all powers are delimited in relation to the other
branches nor to that of the States. Thus, the powers of each branch has been further determined by
Supreme Court rulings, under the guise of specific powers outlined in these three Articles. Therefore,

The American Counterculture Movement
The American counterculture movement began with the assassination of U.S. President John F.
Kennedy, the termination of the United States combat involvement in Southeast Asia, the end of the
draft in 1973, and the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon in 1974. Students for a Democratic
Society (SDS) was the main organizational groups of the campus based radical movement known as
the New Left in the 1960s. The New Left was a term used to describe the left wing movements in the
1960s and 1970s.
Students for a Democratic Society were the largest and most influential radical student organization of
the 1960s. At the beginning, there were just a few dozen members, inspired by the civil rights
movement and initially concerned with equality, economic justice, peace, and participatory
democracy. With the escalation of the Vietnam War, SDS grew rapidly as young people protested the
destruction wrought by the United States government and military. Polite protest turned into stronger
and more determined resistance as rage and frustration increased all across the country.
We are people of this generation, bred in at least modest comfort, housed now in universities, looking

at the base of Lake Huron, Michigan, to hash out their beliefs about social change. All these years

As it aged into the twenty first century, Washington State Route 520 s Evergreen Point Floating Bridge
began experiencing significant problems that indicated it was approaching the end of its useful

many years to come. Over a five year span, construction was performed to create a floating pontoon
bridge, similar in style to the original, but wider and better equipped to withstand the natural

Silver Linings Playbook (2012), Patrizio Pat Solitano, Jr, played by Bradley Cooper, is shown to be
diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Though Cooper s acting of Pat is more grounded than other
interpretations of the disorder. The conflict within himself is cured by the end of the film when Pat
falls in love with and starts dating Jennifer Lawrence s character, Tiffany. In reality, bipolar disorder
cannot be cured but instead can be treated. In the movie, actor Bradley Cooper plays a man with
bipolar disorder who is being released from a psychiatric hospital. He soon connects emotionally with
a quirky young woman, played by Jennifer Lawrence, who has struggled with her own mental health
issues, largely brought on by her husband s death.Psychologists and other mental health professional
are touchy about how they are depicted in movies. So are doctors, police officers and lawyers. Given
the widespread influence of movies, any profession is naturally going to be invested in whether its
members are portrayed positively and accurately. After all, misrepresentations could potentially lead
to public relations problems. In the case of psychotherapy, it might mean that someone will not seek
help because they have developed a negative perception of counseling. Or in the case of mental
disorder, inaccurate depictions could increase the stigmatization of various kinds of difficulties and
diagnoses. However, as I point out in my book, The Psychology at the Movies, there is a danger in
psychologists being too uptight and literal in commenting about Hollywood movies. Film makers are
not in the same business as psychologists. Their job is to tell dramatic, compelling stories, and
sometimes they distort reality in order to accomplish this task.

Beethoven Influence On Society
After taking the online Music Appreciation class it has inspired me to appreciate different musical
genres. I really enjoyed learning about the many great composers and the different eras of music that
greatly influenced our society. Music is a beautiful form of art and it is something most of us enjoy. It
can really help in many ways, such as bringing people together or it can simply help us get through
stressful situations in life. Sometimes when I am really stressed out I will listen to music to help me
relax and get my mind off things for awhile. Music has been around for thousands of years throughout
those years there has been many talented composers who have had a great influence on many
composers throughout history. In this essay I will discuss how Ludwig Van Beethoven is known to be
one of the best composers of his time and how the classical period was a moment in musical history

and can indefinitely bring people some benefits or disadvantages. Technology is also one of the
indispensable elements in society. Postman (1992) supports his argument by analyzing the myths
about technology. Through the metaphor of Thamus, Postman (1992) states that it provides two
criteria for contemporary technology criticism technology always comes with a hidden cost and
people who create technology might not best judges of its value .
As a matter of fact, with the gradual development of science and technology, robots have been widely
used in people s work and life. On the one hand, robots have brought a mass of convenience to people.

As Thamus, the king of an Egyptian city said, although a person who invented the product cannot be
considered a reliable prophet. Because new technologies may change what we call know , truth and
even the deep rooted thinking habits. Actually, if we look back at the history of cell phones
infrastructure, we also found that it is really unpredictable. In the 1940s, the first mobile phone calls
appeared. However, they were made by cars using equipment weighing about 35 kilograms. And then,
the first commercial mobile phones made by Motorola were introduced to the market in 1983. These
mobile phones used first generation (1G) networks. Next, the development of mobile phones had a
rapid growth. In the meantime, the weight of mobile phones gradually decreased from about 800
grams to less than 160 grams during around 20 years. In addition, in the 1980s, the first network (1G)
was introduced to people on a large scale but its use was only restricted to the country s boundaries.
The second generation (2G) network was digital, not analog and its development began in the late
1980s. Then, the marketing demand began to shift from 2G to 3G in 2002. Compared with the
previous networks, the data and voice communications capabilities of 3G have increased significantly.
In present, 4G is applying with IMT Advanced and bring more convenience to people. The evolution
of mobile phone infrastructure is developing at an incredible rate. No one can accurately predict the
trend of its

Who Is The Sheng Family Obituary In Nineteenth-Century...
Sheng Xuanhuai 盛宣懷 (1844 1916), former Minister of Communications and Junior Guardian of the
Heir Apparent (taizi taibao 太子太保) of the Qing Dynasty (1644 1911), passed away in Shanghai on
April 27, 1916. In November 1917, the Sheng family assembled an unprecedentedly extravagant
funeral procession in the International Settlement of Shanghai. Widely believed to have cost the Sheng
family 300,000 silver dollars, the mile long cortege passed along major streets at the heart of Shanghai
and thereby captivated probably over one million spectators. The 1917 funeral procession of Sheng
Xuanhuai made a lasting impression upon the Shanghai citizens as a grand spectacle in this city. While
a living Sheng Xuanhuai s accomplishment in modernizing China s industry, commerce, education,
and transportation has been fruitfully studied, this article turns attention to a deceased Sheng s
contribution to shaping a modern sensibility in early twentieth century Shanghai. The activities in

The Importance of Having Health Insurance
Health insurance is something every person should have as it helps cover medical and surgical
expenses. If a person were to lose an arm or a leg, insurance would help pay for the cost of a
prosthetic or surgery to repair the arm or leg. Most insurance companies offer subsidies such as vision
and dental plans to assist with anything in regards to your eyes or teeth. There are a very few
insurance companies that do offer a hearing plan, but most of those companies are private insurance
companies. (Gandal)So, what about a person that is born with hearing loss or loses their hearing?
Insurance companies do not consider hearing aids as something people need. However, if you were
born with hearing loss or if a tragedy occurred and caused you to lose your hearing you are pretty
much on your own. There are devices and a surgical procedure that you can do to improve your
hearing but the majority of health insurance companies do not consider those as medical necessities.
Actually the health insurance industry considers hearing aids as an elective comparable to liposuction
or plastic surgery. (Christensen) The federal government considers hearing aids to be an optional
treatment for those that could benefit from them, so there is no legislation to provide coverage for
hearing aids. (Early) If hearing loss were considered a disability, it would be the highest rated form of
disability. (Christensen) Thirteen thousand babies are born with some form of permanent hearing loss

Bruce is widely known for his americana, working class poetic lyrics. The song is about the mistreatment of Vietnamese War veterans, but people believe Born in the U.S.A. is a real patriotic song, when in reality they just misunderstand the deeper connotation .Bruce himself did not serve in the Vietnam War. He was called upon to serve, but did not meet requirements. This song was meant to defend the veterans, his use of diction ,repetition , and comparisons throughout the song to meets that purpose rather than just patriotism. • 3. Critical Comparison of Porphyrias Lover and My Last Dutchess Critical Comparison of Porphyrias Lover and My Last Dutchess Both of these poems are based around the concept of power and possesion. They tell the story of obssesional lovers. The effect of using dramatic monologue to convey this idea is very effective. The first poem, Porphyrias Lover, was written in the mid ninteenth century, around 1842. It is the dramatic monologue of the Lover. It is not made known who the recipient of this poem is. I believe it to be an internal monologue, the Lover is going through in his head the events of the previous day and night. The use of only one person speaking gives off the dominance which is important in the understanding of both poems. The lover also shows his abnormal character, he ... Porphyria is seen as being graceful, she glides through the door and also as a very warm person, by the way she brings warmth into the cottage, When she came in she shut the cold and the storm out . As the reader reads on we see her seductiveness, she put my arm about her waist and made her shoulder bare After this has happened the Lover states his critisisem of her. He says she is too weak and proud and vain. This however tells more about the character of the Lover than that of Porphyria, it shows his very high expectations and his dissatisfaction. We are led to believe the cottage in which they meet is isolated and that it doesn t belong to either of them. This gives us the sense of secrecy and seclusion which is reflected in their love for each other. There also seems to be barriers between where Porphyria has come from and the cottage , like the storm. This is also true in their relationship, and I think this comparative difference is a very effective image in putting across the sense of troubles that she encounters because of her inadequacy. The poem moves on to be very warm and loving in contrast to this previous image of the storm. Yet the idea of a hidden uneasiness is shown subtly show through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Financial Crisis Of The Great Depression Great economic times in America The Great Recession and the Great Depression are the aftermath of mostly similar economic difficulties and are only different in a few respects. Each period is marked by a massive run ups in asset prices followed by a crash in the stock market and sent both debt and equity markets down. These periods are said to be the worse economic downturn in the country s history. During the great depression, as banks failed and threatened to shut down the financial system altogether, President Franklin Roosevelt moved quickly and effectively to address the most dangerous financial crisis of the Great depression. During the great depression, the stock market collapse that began in October 1929 took away huge amount of wealth due to the greedy activities of the financial institutions who lent out money hastily and later had less even in their reserves. He created the New Deal which responded to an unemployment rate that had reached 25 percent, and in some cities as much as 75 percent. He signed the Emergency Banking Act, where investigators deemed it right for banks to continue their operations. The Glass Steagall Act created a barrier between commercial and investment banking and established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which provides a warranty that customers funds will be secured(Brinkley) . • 5. The Craft Beer Industry How Brew Stooges Made Their Mark... Company Overview During this presentation we will be going into depths concerning the craft beer industry and how Brew Stooges made their mark on the industry in Huntsville, Alabama. Five years ago, in early 2010, there was a single brewery in Huntsville, Alabama, one brewery, and the only of its kind to open since the repeal of national prohibition in 1933. The city literally went for a span of 71 years without a single commercially brewed local beer. As of June 2015, there are eight breweries in Huntsville, soon to be nine. This smallish southern city, population 180,000, has undergone a total transformation as far as its craft brewing industry is concerned. Like so many other American cities, beer has come into the vogue, but few if any can claim to have experienced such as a rapid, radical, city defining seismic shift. In just five years, old veteran brewing presences have been established and a younger generation has come along to reap the rewards of a clientele that continues to refine its taste. It s still very much a work in progress, but to compare the before and after statistics is shocking. Thanks to a timely repeal of some antiquated laws that held the brewing industry back a home brewing ban, an ABV cap, a ban on large format bottles craft beer is now free to thrive. None of this would likely have happened without the first brewery, the now defunct Olde Towne Brewing Company, which opened in 2004 to snap the 71 year drought. It s difficult to overstate ... Not to mention that we ve not been treated with a proper Star Fox game for years, even though the last game was highly acclaimed. The problem with seeing Star Fox pop up on Switch might be the fact that the gaming company behind it, Rare, has been bought by Xbox. But w can still hope. South Park: The Stick of Truth The Nintendo Switch also requires quite a bit of fun action. We don t want gaming to just be serious business and to give us some laughter, we all rely on South Park. • 25. Courageousness In The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini In the attention grabbing book, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, which is about an Afghan boy, Amir, growing up and dealing with the pain of mistakes and unfortunate circumstances. Amir manages to hide his wrong doings until he receives a call from an old friend. Amir moves out of Afghanistan in his late teenage years with his father Baba, a man who is courageous and hard to satisfy, not bringing much with him besides a few clothing items and a whole lot of guilt for abandoning his friend Hassan. To redeem himself, Amir travels back to Afghanistan as an adult facing challenges such as violence and lack of courage to save his nephew and bring him to safety. Amir channels Baba s courageousness when fighting with Assef, which then allows Amir to relieve the guilt he struggles with during the story. Baba s actions clearly display his undeniable traits of courage and dissatisfaction in the first half of the book. The fact that Baba is a strong and heroic man is easily identified by the reader at the beginning of the book especially when a soldier requests to rape a wife as the price for the truck passing through when Baba and Amir are escaping Afghanistan; however, Baba stands up to the soldier saying, Tell him I ll take a thousand of his bullets before I let this indecency take place (Hosseini 82). It is necessary for Hosseini to portray Baba as a courageous character because it introduces the theme of guilt early when Amir lacks courage and feels poorly about ... One of the bad habits I ve become accustomed to over the years is working myself to my breakpoint and not taking a chance to breathe. More than that I tend to keep busy way more often than I should be some simply over just trivial things. That is why I decided to choose the spiritual practice of Sabbath where I took one 24 hour period in my week and dedicated it to simply rest and rejuvenate and nothing more. Now by rest, I don t necessarily mean sleep, a lot of times it was just doing what brings me pleasure and replenishes me instead of exhausting myself, or giving to me, instead of taking from me. Although I have heard people talking about the Sabbath growing up multiple times, I have never heard it phrased like it was in this class: as a spiritual formative practice. To my dismay, that was all it has been until this class. My extent of knowledge about Sabbath had only came from some of what I ve read about it in the Bible. That was when the Jews practiced Sabbath as commanded under the Mosaic Law, given to them when they were in the wilderness. Exodus 20:8 10 shares, Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. • 31. Socioeconomic Status And Academic Achievement Introduction: There are many different factors that affect a student s academic success in the education system. One of the main factors that play a part in a student academic success is where their family lies on the socio economic scale. The components of socioeconomic status income, parent education and parent occupation are each statistically significant predictors of student achievement (Buckingham, Wheldall, Beamnan Whelldan, 2013). Socioeconomic status defines not just the income of an individual but also that educational attainment, financial security, and subjective perceptions of social status and social class (APA, 2017). Socioeconomic Status and Academic Achievement is an important topic to discuss as many of our students in the education system are either on the bottom of the scale or the top and to find accurate resources to help these students succeed academically we have to look at the research regarding socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic status affects the human functioning overall psychical and mental health. The research has found that students from families with lower social economic status struggle more than those students who come from a higher social economic status due to the slower development in academic skills as they are focused on so many different skills at one time than those who are from higher socioeconomic status communities. Along with that, school systems in lower socioeconomic status neighborhoods are often under resourced, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the major features of cults as described by Whitsett et al. include family dynamics within cults, child abuse, health issues, and moral development. A common/devastating repercussion of cult participation is losing complete control by subjecting to leadership. Cult leaders are so controlling they typically curtail and demolish relationships between families when they feel their loyalty is being threatened. Members of cults are denied independence and all parental authority is diminished. Cults tear families apart, take children away from their parents, and demand complete control over all of the members. An alarming ramification of participating in a cult is that the members are regularly facing feelings of extreme shame and humiliation, in the community and at home. • 35. Constitutional Law And The Legal System With the media giving cost play to the term Constitutional , in reference to ongoing discussions between the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch, some confusion concerning the power of Constitutional Law and its foundation for our legal system is understandable. Constitutional law is not confined to the founding document as the sole source of our legal system. It includes the past rulings of the Supreme Court, as well as guidance given in the various writings of the original founding fathers and the precedence of Common Law. Thus Constitutional Law encompasses the entire sphere of American Jurisprudence and its continued evolution will have a resounding effect on both the rights and liberties of the individual for generations to come. Division and Enumeration of Powers The first three articles of the U.S. Constitution describe the division of power among the three branches of the Federal Government. Article I, Sections 1 10 enumerate the powers and duties of the Legislative branch. Article II, Sections 1 4 concern the powers and duties of the Executive Branch and Article III, Sections 1 3 enumerates the duties and powers of the Legislative Branch. Significantly, the enumerated powers are not an exhaustive list. Not all powers are delimited in relation to the other branches nor to that of the States.
