Operation Nordwind Research Paper
One of the least know battles of World War II would become a crushing blow to a once world
dominating force. The battle that would become the last offensive operation for the Waffen SS (Armed
Squadron) it would be known as Operation Nordwind (Unternehmen Nordwind) (Chaisson, 2017).
There were two offensive operations that were planned to occur almost simultaneously in the French
Alsace Lorraine territory. Operation Nordwind was not the only relative operation planned to fight off
the Allied force from entering Germany thru France. Operation Baseplate (Unternehmen Bodenplatte)
was the Germans aerial offensive operation designed to weaken allied forces in northwestern Europe (
Ardennes Alsace, 2003). Ultimately, the second operation greatly depended on the successful outcome
of Operation Nordwind. They were both planned by the Chancellor of Germany (Adolf Hitler) and his
Commander in Chief West Field Marshal (Gerd von Rundstedt) in the winter of 1944 ( Ardennes
Alsace, 2003). Furthermore, as with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The terrain was mountainous, hilly and heavily wooded, this provided the Allied forces with some
cover and concealment abilities. Alsace Lorraine territory was often foggy which greatly deterred the
Germans from conducting aerial bombing attacks and proper reconnaissance missions. ( Ardennes
Alsace, 2003). The Germans were at an advantage with the size of their force being condensed
whereas, the Allies were forced to maintain almost three times the battle space with relatively the
same number of troops. The Germans had approximately 200,000 men, 1,000 battle tanks and 2,000
guns, deployed across a 60 mile front. Its combat power rivaling that of the Eastern Front made them a
highly formidable fighting force. The Allies were spread thin across a 228 mile front that was
defended by approximately 230,000 troops. ( Ardennes Alsace,

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development ( Rio+20 ) brought Heads of State and
Government to Brazil in 2012, to appraise progress in the implementation of agreements struck since
the landmark 1992 United Nations Conference on the Environment and Development in Rio de
Janeiro. At Rio+20 , countries renewed their political commitment to sustainable development, agreed
to establish a set of sustainable development goals and established a high level political forum on
sustainable development. Importantly, the outcome document, entitled The future we want ,also
reaffirms the commitments of States to women s equal rights, access and opportunities for
participation and leadership in the economy, society and political decision making and includes
explicit references to accelerating the implementation of commitments in the Convention on the
Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the Beijing Platform for Action and the
Millennium Declaration. The outcome document also states that gender equality and the effective
participation of women are important for effective action on all aspects of sustainable development

Essay on Technology in the film Tron
Technology in the film Tron
Introduction
The purpose of my project is to discover how technology is represented within the film Tron. To
answer this research question, I viewed and analyzed the movie and incorporated information from the
text and various websites. While studying this film, I took into consideration factors such as images
and language used, how technology is related to society, and what symbols the creator used to convey
certain qualities of technology. In this research paper, I will begin by explaining the significance of
this project and my areas of research. I will then relay the focus of my investigation, the methods I
employed to gain my research, analyze the film, and discuss the implications of my analysis. ... Show

This description led me to believe that the outlook of technology at the time, when the Internet was
just being introduced to the public, was fear. People feared the unknown power of the new technology
of computers. Tron is a story of man battling his own creations, which represents technology as a
powerful force with destructive capabilities.
I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to
think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how
technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited
access to computers at that time. I wasn t concerned with the impact of new computer technology
then, but remember hearing people say that machines would someday run the world. For example, I
worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines
were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. I think this
movie would probably have a bigger impact now that computers are such a large part of our everyday
lives. Artificial intelligence is still a popular theme for science fiction movies, so people must like to
consider it a possibility. I ve read that there is a possible sequel to the movie

Cheap Kitchen Renovation
Cheap Kitchen Renovation Design An old friend of mine moved into a home with a very old design.
At this point my friend declared that she plus her four children all absolutely hated the kitchen area
plus shall love to renovate plus modern it but were utterly daunted by the task and so hadn t attempted
it. Her main fear was the perceived high cost of redesigning a classic home as she had heard many
home improvement horror stories also People spending tens of thousands of dollars on what started
out to be quite modest renovations with only to find a number of non budgeted repairs plus
maintenance were also required as well as therefore significantly blowing out the estimated costs. My
friend didn t relish the idea of finding herself in a similar predicament so the idea of undertaking
restoration plus renovation work had been shelved. Among the guests at the party was a builder plus
another a professional interior designer plus they both explained that while restoration work (restoring
the building to as new condition similar to when the building was originally constructed) was quite
extensive plus time consuming with however also a small kitchen makeover designs (modernization)
project was relatively cheap. Kitchen Renovation Ideas Your kitchen is the area of your home that is

Wrinkle In Time Quotes
In the book, A Wrinkle In Time, three major characters are Mrs. Witch, Mrs. Who, and Ms. Whatsit.
They are warriors who are fighting against the darkness and evil in the whole universe. Mrs. Who
finds it hard to communicate using words strung together in her brain, so she communicates in the
form of quotes. Mrs. Who inspires Meg, Charles, and Calvin with her quotes to fight alongside them
to bring the light back to the whole universe. Le coeur a seis raisins que la razón ne connait point.

Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Analysis
In The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, it is clear that the biggest theme of the story is the
concept of good against evil. In the case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the conflict exists within the
same person. It is generally believed that this internal struggle exists in everyone, and that man is not
truly one, but truly two. It suggests that everyone has a dual personality , and a good and evil side
exists in everyone. The struggle supposedly is usually a close fought battle that is close to a stalemate.
But in the story, is there a clear winner of this internal battle? Does Mr. Hyde completely take over or
does Dr. Jekyll ultimately resolve the situation? The battle is very tight, and there is, in fact, a clear
winner in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

we see Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, their characters (and thus the conflict between good and evil) is
already developed. As the story moves on, we can see how evil starts to edge forward in the battle of
good vs evil. Of course, it does not become the clear winner yet, but there are signs of how Robert

One of the other reasons is when the company needs to find janitors we lose money of putting job

The Role Of Endothelin Receptor Populations On Ventricular...
Use of Competitive Radioligand Binding to examine Endothelin Receptor Populations on Ventricular
Cardiomyocyte Membranes of Spontaneous Hypertensive Rats. Abstract
This investigation concerned the relationship between endothelin receptor populations on the
ventricular cardiomyocyte membrane of spontaneous hypertensive rats at 16 weeks old. The use of
radioligand competitive binding assay method, involving the displacement of [125I]ET 1 by 3
competitive, cold ligands, ET 1, ET 3 and BQ123, allowed for the generation of competition binding
curves, that adopted either a one site or two site model and allowed the determination of relative
IC50s and identification of receptor proportions. ET 3 produced a two site model suggesting the
existence of ET A and ET B receptors on cardiomyocyte membranes in SHRs and calculated that
around 29% of receptors were ET B, whereas ET 1 and BQ123 both produced one site models.
Introduction
Endothelin peptide family is a group of 3 isoforms of a peptide, comprising of 21 amino acids, all of
which are formed from the same larger precursor, pro endothelin 1 by endothelin converting enzyme.
(Inoue A et al,1989) Each isoform is distinguished from the others by a differing gene, with endothelin
2 and 3 differing from endothelin 1 by 2 and 6 amino acids, respectively. (Inoue A et al,1989)
Endothelin is known mostly as a potent vasopressor, but is also known to have a positive inotropic

What Is The Role Of Islam A Turning Point In History
The emergence of Islam in the seventh century is a turning point in history due to its high conversion
rates and its advances in literature, science, and fine arts that affected the lives of many.
Before the prophet Muhammad cultivated the religion of Islam, Arabia was a center of trade. Being
the home of various clans and tribes, there would be feuds along the Arabian Peninsula over their
opposing beliefs. Along with the blood feuds among the nomadic tribes, there was also village based
agriculture which benefited flourishing small kingdoms. Being located in the crossing point for many
trade routes, Arabia also gave rise to many cosmopolitan cities. Arabia before Muhammad differs,
from Arabia after Muhammad s discoveries because of the decrease in battles around neighboring
people. When Islam was made present, it unified the Afro Eurasian world which caused the world to
be more peaceful and rose the social standing of Arabia.

A reason for Islam not being a turning point in history is due to the presence of patriarchy. Although in
the beginning of Islam women were give more rights, some of women s rights were diminished over
time. An example of patriarchy in Islamic culture is women had to restrict themselves by covering
themselves too reassure the dominance of men. Due to the women s sexuality being concealed it put
men and women in too different worlds because men didn t want to be reminded of women s power
over them. Another reason Islam isn t considered a turning point in history to many is due to its mix
with other cultures. When Islam spread to places such as West Africa and Swahili city states they
adopted Islam but also joined it with their traditional beliefs. To many Islam isn t a turning point in
history due to its beliefs in patriarchy along with the dilution on the religion when mixed with other

Abolition And James Russell Lowell
Abolition and James Russell Lowell
The Declaration of Independence gave us the famous words: we hold these truths to be self evident,
that all men are created equal. James Russell Lowell was a staunch believer that this famous phrase
referred to all men, including slaves. Lowell held the opinion that it was the inborn right of all men to
be free and that God created all human beings with the same natural rights. The poems The Present
Crisis, On the Capture of Fugitive Slaves Near Washington, and Ode Recited At the Harvard
Commemoration combined moral and religious beliefs and arguments to make a political statement
about the abolition of slavery.
The Present Crisis was written by James Russell Lowell in 1844 to the discuss the crisis sweeping the
nation at that time slavery. In this poem, Lowell explains some of the justifications for the practice of
slavery, which he considered to be utterly incorrect. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By writing this poem, the author hopes to clearly state that all men are equal and that slavery is an
affront to God. Ultimately his goal is that those reading this poem will be inspired to abolish slavery.
He makes it clear that all people are equal in the eyes of God, or in Lowell s words, God works for all
(Lowell 82). Lowell believed that America was no longer using morality as its guide, but instead was
being guided by poorly concealed self interest. According to a critic of Lowell s, He believed that
America had lost sight of the common good. Increasingly divided into high and low, the populace
seemed, to his mind, no longer willing to distinguish individual self interest from civic virtue (Bell
131). As a result of the strong sentiments the author displays in this poem, the reader might feel
repulsed at those who put themselves and what they perceive to be best for their country above

Single parenting
Introduction
Single parenting is one of the most important issues in world. People were not except the idea of
single parenting, that one of the parents has the responsibility to take care of the child. They believe
that one hand cannot clap. They see that the child should live with his parents not one of them.
Nowadays, single parenting become the phenomenon of the time , which mean we can find a lot of
children living with one their parents could be the mother or the father. There several reasons that

Grounding both parents in the child s life is also important, it s important to involve both parents
equally, even when the child may only be living with one. Communication is key; a parent should
never ignore what their child is saying, because they might be saying something that is very important
to them. Parents need to make sure they communicate with both each other and their children, about
the child s everyday life.
Advantages of single parenting
There are several advantages of single parenting .first, No compromises. You get to be the sole
decision maker. With big decisions, especially if you have an amicable co parenting relationship, you
may have to occasionally consult the other parent. But, for the most part, you get to decide .second,
less stress when you are not spending your time and energy fighting with your husband you feel
happier .also, you child feel comfortable this create less stress in your home .you finally have the time
and energy to spend with your child and you feel happy. Third, children feel like part of the team.
Since you will be spending much more time with them alone, they will probably have more of a voice
in family decisions. They will learn that what they have to say matters and that willing to listen to
their opinions. Finally, one less child to care for taking care of kids is one thing, things do get very

The Secret Labyrinth Of A Snail Shell By Robert Hughes Essay
The readings this week began to introduce basic ideas about urbanization and some general
information about famous sites in Barcelona. In the first chapter of Barcelona: the Great Enchantress ,
Robert Hughes described how he was first introduced to Barcelona and its rich culture. He painted a
very compelling picture of a city I now can t wait to visit one day. He began by introducing some
Barcelonan sites he visited such as, the Sagrada Família designed by Gaudí, the Pyreness mountain
range, and his friend Xavier Corberó s house, Can Cargol, located in Esplugües de Llobregat in
Southern Barcelona. I found it fascinating that winding catacombs had been dug underneath Can
Cargol for storage and possibly defense in the Roman times (Hughes 2004: 5). Hughes also suggested
that these caves might have reminded people of the secret labyrinth of a snail shell (Hughes 2004: 5)
which would explain how it got its Catalan name in which translates to house of the snail. He
described his experiences in the cave and one particular instance stood out to me; In one of the storage
rooms there was an old printing press that could have been used by a radicalist to promote anti Carlist
texts (Hughes 2004: 5). According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, the Carlist movement was a
political movement in Spain that attempted to change the government system from a more
conservative to a liberal style. It impressed me that this smaller town could have housed a place that

Art And Symbolism In Ancient Egyptian Art
In ancient Egypt the art was both uniquely stylized and symbolic. As the way that hieroglyphs were a
visual language, the art of human figure ancient Egypt followed specific rules in order to be read,
understood, and symbolic. Artists were not concerned with creating realistic images but rather to
represent an ideal and harmonious version of reality. Artists developed conventions a harmonious
canon of proportions, controlling the angle of view, and the size of each part in relation to the whole.
The human figure was presented in composite perspective. For royal and other depictions of beings of
a higher power, heads were shown in profile, capturing the shape of the nose, forehead, and chin. The
eyes were formed to face frontwards, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During 17 years of reigning, 1353 1336 BCE, he broke the conventions of Egyptian art by showing
himself in warm family scenes with his wife and children, and portraying himself and the rest of the
royal family in a much more human and naturalistic manner, such as eyes being slightly more profiled
than any of his predecessors had. There was also a push of physical distortion. It was all distinctively
stylized. The portrayal of the physical characteristics of the pharaoh himself was the most peculiar
result of Akhenaten art reform. In sculptures and paintings of Akhenaten, he is shown as having a
long, slender neck, a long face with a sharp chin, almond shaped eyes, full lips, long arms and fingers,
rounded thighs, a soft belly, and enlarged breasts. His odd androgynous appearance, depicted in the
colossal statue of Akhenaten raising to about 16 feet, carved out of sandstone, was particularly
prominent in art from the early part of the reign. His appearance was the challenge of Egyptian art
style and the test of his relationship to the gods. Also another important piece to come out of this time
was the head of Nefertiti, the favorite queen, made of painted limestone. The beautiful Nefertari was
discovered in 1912 in the studio of the sculptor Thutmose. The facial features of her are too idealistic
to be human, with a thin slender neck, but strangely come so close to what moderns day society ideal

Riordan Manufacturing Team Building and Conflict Management
Riordan Manufacturing is launching a Card Care produce and in doing so is designing a team to care
out the product launch. The company is looking to use some employees along with new hires to build
the team needed to manufacture this new product. They will be using team building strategies to
determine how to put to gather new team for this product and will also be looking at conflict
management strategies and conflict management to handle any problems that may come about.
Part I: Strategy Plan There are different strategies that can be used to identify employees for a team. It
is very important that when putting a team together the people have skills and are able to work well
together. Reviewing their files would be a good place to begin. Looking at performance reviews and
their strengths and weaknesses can help to determine what people to use on the team for this new
project. This will only work for the current employees. With the new employees that are coming in to
work on the project for the new product the data from the interviewing process and past job
experience will help to determine how these employees can be best used in the new team that is being
developed. There can be many challenges that arise during the development of this team. Employees

7 Traditions Of Christianity Research Paper
Christianity Journal
Beliefs and morals are two concepts that explore the polarities of right and wrong. Tradition is the
faith and practice that was imparted from Jesus to the Apostles and it is an essential belief for
Orthodox Christians. Tradition is not only unchanging throughout history as it can be traced back to
the Apostles, but it is also present in everyday moments through the idea of creative fidelity. Creative
fidelity entails that we follow tradition and live it with the help of the Church. The Doctrine of
Deification is another important belief that Orthodox Christians follow more literally than other
Christians might. Deification refers to Christians becoming God and this became possible through the
Incarnation of Jesus because if Jesus was human than all humans can be God. Moreover, Orthodox
Christians relate this back to the Fall of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Starting with Constantine, the Roman Emperor, in 313 A.D through the Edict of Milan he legalized
Christianity. This was a huge step towards his next major move in history, which was moving the
capital to Constantinople. This was significant because it created a split between the East and West,
essentially a split between Catholicism and Orthodoxy. Constantine s final major move in Orthodox
history was creating the Council of Nicaea. This council defined the creed that Orthodox Christians
still use to this day. The divide between the East and West became even more significant with the rise
of Islam in 632 A.D. With Islam ruling in a majority Christian world, Orthodox Christians decided to
leave spreading their religion as missionaries to the East. While the rule of Constantine, the Council of
Nicaea, and the rise of Islam are only snippets of Orthodox history, we can still get a glimpse into the
complex history that shaped Orthodox

How Did Chaucer Wrote The Wife Of Bath s Tale
One reason Chaucer wrote this story because he The wife of bath s Tale because he wanted to show
how women have feelings and opinions over things two and that they should be given equal rights as

One example is when the king who said that the knight should die later gave his life to the queen he
gave the queen the case and granted her his life. (pg. 140 ln 42) so she could decide whether he should

The Person of Christ Essay
The Person of Christ
When discussing and proving the person of Christ, there are two basic laws that must be addressed
and proven. First you must prove that Christ is one hundred percent human (humanity), then you must
prove that at the same time Christ is one hundred percent God (deity). As human, Christ had a body,
he had a soul and spirit, he had human characteristics, and he was called by human names. In Luke
2:52, it is written that Christ, even though he had a virgin birth, He was born with a human body that
was conceived by a human body. Christ s humanity included both the material and immaterial aspects
of the human body (he was flesh but at the same time he was also Soul and Spirit). For Christians,

385) . It took not only the humanity of Christ, but also his deity to affect the world in this way. In the
view of His deity, Christ is God. Not only is he Christ, but the Son of God, and called God in the New
Testament. The Johannine teaching includes the following passages: John 1:1, 18, where some
manuscripts read the only begotten God, and that unusual reading may be regarded as grounds for
accepting its authenticity; 20:28,
where Thomas used both kurios and theos of Jesus; and 1 John 5:20. It is preferable to ascribe the
phrase God blessed forever to Christ (Ryre Basic Theology p. 56) .
Apart from his distinction as human, there is evidence of oneness. The New Testament insists that
there is only one true God in James 2:19 as it states, You believe that there is only God. Good! Even
the demons believe that and shudder. Christ is part of the Trinity and is recognized as God in creation
John 1:3, judge of all things in the future john 5:27, and he has omniscience Matthew 9:4. Charles
Ryre proves Christ s deity and involvement in the Trinity in Basic Theology, as he writes,
How then do we arrive at a clear doctrine of the Trinity? Simply by accepting two lines of evidence in
the bible: (a) clear statements that teach there is only one God; and (b)equally clear statements that

Questions On Organizational Communication Concepts Essay
1. The movie I chose for this assignment is The Terminal.
2 Three Organizational Communication Concepts:
Organizational Cultural Elements: According to Keyton (n.d.), organizational culture is defined as the
set of artifacts, values and assumptions that emerges from the interactions of organizational members
(p. 550). Some examples of artifacts and values include, norms, customs, how members should
behave, and assumptions are revealed when talking about your work experiences. The culture of an
organization can be simply what it feels like to be there (Keyton, n.d.). Every culture is dynamic,
always changing and guides the construction of reality in a social community. There are 7 elements of
culture which include metaphors, rituals, stories, artifacts, heroes and heroines, performances and
values (class notes, Oct. 25). In the movie The Terminal the culture is constantly changing and when
Viktor Navorski arrives, just his presence and the things he does changes the culture of the terminal
and those people that he comes in contact with. One element is artifacts, this can include how he
gathers the carts and puts them back to get the quarters. When I think of artifacts I think of how he
remodeled the space where he is living; gate 67. He added a plant and a wheel chair with a blanket and
made his space his home. He made one area like a restaurant when he had dinner with Amelia. The
restaurants, stores, customs office etc. are all elements of artifacts. In the movie

Essay On Head And Neck Cancer
Radiation Therapy has been a standard treatment for Head and Neck cancers whether used alone or in
combination with other treatment methods. Using radiation as a single modality treatment in head and
neck cancer patients allowed us to preserve function and form of organs in this region.6 Head and
neck cancers have distinctive clinical, pathological, and epidemiological features. Their sensitivity to
treatment also distinguishes them from other cancers.4 Radio sensitive cells are classified as cells that
have high division rate, high metabolic rate, and cells that are non specialized. Using ionizing
radiation leads to killing of cells. In radiation therapy the most important endpoint is the cell losing

Therefore the fractionation effect is smaller in early responding tissues than in late responding tissues.
When talking about fractionation response, tumors tend to behave similar to early responding tissues
providing that late reactions are dose limiting5 Hyperfractionation is based on the difference between
the response of early and late responding tissues. One benefit is that hyperfractionation can be
effective even if tumors have high sensitivity by looking at their alpha/beta ratios. Usually
hyperfractionation is generally expected to have an escalation of total dose which increases control
rate without increasing the risk of late complications5 5 year survival for head and neck cancers that
were treated with radiation therapy alone were reported below 60%, treatment failure were due to the
high rate of local recurrence or distant metastasis.4 Local recurrence was due to active proliferation of
the tumor cell left behind in the surgical field. In this report we will be looking at two different types
of radiation treatment for head and neck cancers and their effects on the rate of control at the end of
treatment time in mainly fast growing tumors, which are more sensitive to radiation. Loco regional

Within any company, managers must be reminded that the focus of a layoff is not on the actual
individual being released, but rather on the position itself. The layoff decision is made based on the
needs of the company and the position. If the individual is not fulfilling the position or if the position
is no longer necessary, the company must make the decision to let the person go. With this
perspective, managers can prevent as many negative emotions as possible and it will additionally
affect the communication between the manager and employee being laid off. When the employee is

Included in the benefits package offered to the employee is the option for the single lump sum, which
pays the employee the full amount of their layoff benefits in one lump sum. However, it would not

Three Ways the Layoff May Affect the Company
Even if a layoff is completed successfully and with little resistance, there are possible negative effects
in which the decision can have on the company. These include:
* Decrease trust among valuable employees
* Hidden costs, such as severance packages, may cause the layoff to be ineffective
* Workplace morale may decrease
Companies are oftentimes hasty to undergo layoffs as they feel they are eliminating their ineffective
employees and building an environment full of strong and effective employees. However, this does
not guarantee that the valuable employees will remain loyal to the company and it is important that
managers do not depend too much on these employees. Layoffs can also decrease trust among the
valuable employees as they may worry that they too could be

Uniforms In High School Uniforms
Growing up in parochial schools, uniforms were a part of my daily life. I wore uniforms for twelve
consecutive years, and I feel very strongly that they impacted my education for the better. I had many
friends attending public schools, and though they got to wear the latest fashion trends and look cute
going to school, I felt that they were at a disadvantage not having uniforms. Uniforms should be
implemented in primary and secondary schools because they enhance self esteem, produce a
conducive learning environment, increase safety, and are cost effective.
It is no surprise that children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, religions, and cultures attend
the same schools. Individuality is a beautiful thing, but many times children seeing differences among
their peers allows room for confusion, animosity, jealousy, and even anger. If a child is insecure about
their clothes or appearance, their self esteem can suffer. Principle of Barbara Comstock Morse
Elementary School, Mike Gulden, puts it plainly when asked what would happen if uniforms
disappeared tomorrow, Our needy kids and fairly well to do kids might become magnified and
polarized... There s that stigma of my socioeconomic status. Kids 5, 6, 7 years old shouldn t have to
deal with that. (Boutelle 36.) When children aren t worried about what their clothes say about how
much money their family has or their home life, they will feel more confident knowing they are
dressed how everyone else is dressed.
People who are apposed to the implementation of uniforms in schools argue that uniforms do not hide
socioeconomic status. This may be true, but it certainly does minimize the visual signs of one s
financial situation. There is always going to be a wide range of diversity in schools. This should not
change, but as Gulden puts it, Life has enough hurdles for families and kids; I don t think one of them
should be at school. (Boutelle 36.) Self esteem is a very sensitive thing for kids as they grow up, and
as they go through puberty. Uniforms can boost that self esteem, and help those kids walk a little taller
every day at school.
The environment of a school is very important and has a huge impact on the children in that school
and how they learn.

Looking Back: Interpreting in Antiquity (Hermann)
Alfred Hermann, a German Egyptologist, is credited with writing the earliest overview on the topic of
interpreting. In this work, published in 1956, Hermann gives an overview of the history of
interpreting.
Hermann s work begins with the ancient Egyptians, who believed that they were superior to all other
races, referring to themselves alone as humans and to all others as barbarians. Ancient Egyptian
inscriptions never depict the literal words of these so called barbaric foreigners. The foreigners are
always shown requesting mercy, and their speeches are always from the point of view of the Egyptians
illustrating Egyptian prejudices. Egyptians utilized interpreters as early as the fourteenth century and
then from the seventh century forward. Egyptians relied on interpreters in the Province of Elephantine,
in the mining region of the Sinai Peninsula, and in their central government. Hermann indicates that
interpreters became so necessary that Phararoh Psammetichus selected Egyptian boys to learn the
Greek language from the Hellenic settlers in the Nile Delta (cited in Pochhacker and Shlesinger, 2001,

The Abraham Friedman Occupational Center
Throughout the program, my placement was set at the Abraham Friedman Occupational Center. The
students were predominantly Spanish speaking adults who lived in downtown Los Angeles. The
program was ESL Intermediate High B that integrated language skills. Since October last year, I
devoted seventy hours to observation and taught four lessons totaling five hours. The guiding teacher
Mr. Buckley was an inspiring educator who created a variety of classroom activities.
Analysis
I benefited from the observation experience both as a language learner and a potential ESL teacher.
When I started the practicum, I had little teaching experience. I never attended any English learning
program in the United States, and its interactive teaching style surprised me. I thought to myself that
being interactive should mean spontaneous and going with what s happening in the classroom. I came
up with the first lesson in just an hour.
It was when I reviewed my first teaching video that I found how powerful the reflective cycle was. It
helped me slow down thinking so that I can attend to what is rather than what I wished were so, and
then to shift the weight of that thinking from my own teaching to students learning (Rodgers, 2002, p.
231). It looked like in the first TLE I wasn t teaching at all. Then I started to reread the Rogers article
for help and was able to dig out more information that I overlooked before.

The technology of electric vehicles has been around since the turn of the nineteenth century but faded
as the gasoline powered engine took the spotlight. Now the future of electric vehicles is very bright.
Their impacts are very significant ranging from economic, to new technology that can be applied
elsewhere, to most importantly, the environment. Ford and GM, through its Saturn plant, have already
begun production on their own version of the electric vehicle and have made them available to the

considered adopting the ZEV mandate for themselves, with New York already mandating the policy.
Several auto makers have filed suit against the ZEV mandate, but the latest rulings have gone against
the auto makers.
In 1989, Los Angeles City Council member Marvin Braude issued a worldwide bid for 10,000 electric
vehicles to be delivered to southern California in the mid 1990 s (Sperling 1995). The bid was met
with major skepticism from major automotive companies about the market for the electric vehicles,
and the bid was granted to Clean Air Transport, an Anglo Swedish company with a small number of
employees. The company spent millions to build a hybrid electric gasoline car but could not get any
funding to begin manufacturing. As a result, the company simply disappeared in the early nineties, but
it did not matter because by this time the major auto makers had taken interest.
Elsewhere in the world, many other countries were also experimenting with electric vehicles. British
manufacturers never stopped producing these vehicles and had turned out several thousand electric
milk delivery trucks a year. By 1990 it was estimated that 33,000 of these were on England s roads. In
Japan, major auto makers had indulged themselves in the development of the electric vehicle during
the 1970 s, but backed off their efforts in the 1980 s only after they had built a small

This topic is paradigm shifts. A synonym for a paradigm would be a perception, and for most
teenagers, the way you are perceived is a very important piece of the mental, and emotional aspect of
life. Asking yourself what is most important to you, and what you spend the most time thinking about,
can often reveal the paradigms of your life. Covey refers to paradigms as life centers, or things you
center your life around. Some of these life centers include friends, stuff, school, parents, sports, and
social media. I learned that heavily focusing on one of these life centers is not a healthy way to
perceive your life, and that equally focusing on all of them is a much more effective way to use
paradigms. Time management is another subject I feel Covey has really mastered. Covey puts all
people into four quadrants: slackers, procrastinators, the yes man, and the prioritizers. Being honest
with yourself and determining where you fall in these four categories is important. Once you have
decided where you are at, you decide where you want to be, and how you are going to get there.
Setting up a game plan is one of Covey s go to strategies for dealing with the problems of being a
teenager. A plan, with the end in mind, is a major key in becoming the best person you can be. Covey s
main point for readers, was to have a perfect balance of your

deep in the Alaskan woods near a creek referred to as Dorothy Creek, where just so happen Tee, her
little brother and her father were residing near, however escalated to a conundrum about the Shadow
that turned out to just be a dog, a jet black Husky with pale blue eyes with a strong broad body,
discovered by the two young girls after taking Tee s beagle on a walk in the snow. While Tee s and
Jack s Mother was in Japan for two weeks during their spring break for law work, the siblings went
with their dad, a writer, who was on the hunt for a story about how the relationship between dogs and
man have become less and less throughout the years because of snowmobiles, there for people were
not requiring dogs to pull sleds from place to place. Thus, Tee s father begins to work with a

Why Is Thomas Paine Important
Thomas Paine once said, Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state,
an intolerable one. Thomas Paine, the author of not just Common Sense but also The American Crisis ,
was one of the greatest journalists of the Revolutionary times.
So to start, Thomas Paine was born January 29th, 1737 in Thetford, England. Even as a little boy his
father had high expectations, so when Paine failed out of school at age 12 his father was very
disappointed. At age 19, he set out to sea, but eventually failed at that too. Paine became a tax officer
by 1768, but he was fired twice. After many career failures he met Benjamin Franklin, who
encouraged him to work in Philadelphia as a journalist. He didn t know it yet, but that was beginning
to his great, influential journalism career. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to chicagotribune.com, Common Sense fanned the Revolution s flame and Paine s
publication fired up American colonists ahead of the Declaration of Independence. Referring to the
quote I said earlier, the government being a necessary evil is one of the main themes throughout
Common Sense. Other themes include the harsh monarchy and the unavoidable concept of
Independence for the Americans. In addition to that Common Sense influenced people of the 13
colonies to fight for their independence. Not only did the pamphlet explain all of those things, it
explained them in an easy, understandable

Radiocarbon Dating Is Inaccurate
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound? If God created the
earth and no one was around to see it, did it still happen? The answer to both of these questions is yes.
Because of the Bible, we know that God created the earth in a literal 6, 24 hour days about 6,000 years
ago. Many Christian think God may have used evolution and creation but that is not a viable theory.
Methods such as Carbon Dating cannot be trusted because they have been proven inaccurate over and
over again. Because radiocarbon dating is inaccurate, the literal Genesis account of creation is the one
and only viable answer to where this world came from.
Back in the 1800 s, people started to drift away from God. Because ... Show more content on

Just like one can tell that age of a person by thing such as their height, weight, hair, and skin, scientists
should be able to see signs of wear on the earth. Every year, water and wind erode about 20 billion
tons of dirt and rock and debris from the continents and deposit them on the sea floor. Yet the average
thickness of all of these sediments globally over the whole seafloor is not even 1,300 feet. (The New
Answers Book 4 113) This disproves the theory of evolution since there is so little settlement on the

The Catholic Faith
Paper #2 The Catholic faith is based on this central figure, Jesus, who teaches them how to live in a
manner according to the ultimate creator: God. There are ways to view Jesus in the modern day
through different means of interaction. One way of interaction with Jesus is achieved when people
attend church on Sundays to ensure that they are live according to God through their daily activities.
Another way Christians see interaction with Jesus is through Mary and the saints because Mary and
the saints are ideal examples of Jesus. These interactions are essential to the Catholic faith, but the
most important reappearance of Jesus is through the Sacraments. Essentially, the Sacraments are a
way of getting inside of the Bible by committing to the same actions that Jesus performed in the Bible.
By conducting the sacraments, a person is considered to be transformed by doing the same things
Jesus did. The reappearance of Jesus is best viewed through the Sacraments, more specifically in An
Introduction to Catholicism through the explanation of the concept of sacramentality, which
encompasses baptism, confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. In order to grasp an understanding of the
Sacraments, a person must first understand the concept of sacramentality. According to Lawrence
Cunningham, the word sacrament mean[s] a visible sign of divine power manifested in humanity
(Cunningham, pg.101). This concept of divine power portrayed in humanity can be understood as a
public sign that

Baseball Compared To Other Sports
The history of baseball is a lot more complicated compared to other sports. There is no (real)
definitive answer as to how or who started the game of baseball. However, there are some theories, the
most common theory, references to games resembling baseball in the United States date back to the
18th century. Its most direct ancestors appear to be two English games: rounders (a children s game
brought to New England by the earliest colonists) and cricket, (History.com Staff). When the
American Revolution occurred there were many different variations of this game that were being
played in schools of all levels, from elementary school yards to college campuses. Overall, the basis of
the sport did not start in the United States of America, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been many players in MLB have used and been caught using PEDs and have faced serious
penalty. The biggest case as of recent years was the Alex Rodriguez scandal. After a positive urine
test, he continued to deny the use of PEDs but later, like half a year later finally committed to using
them and was suspended without pay for a whole season. He is not the only player to use PEDs in the
MLB but he is one of the ones to be caught in recent years. It is obvious that using drugs to enhance
performance is banned, but there is the ethical debate of why? The main reason people come up with
is that it is, basically, cheating which implies a theft of opportunity from other players of the sport.
When one player gains benefits monetary compensation, fan appreciation, seasonal honors, statistical
records, etc by using performance enhancing drugs, he does so by shouldering a lesser burden than
players who do not use drugs, (Belousek 2014). That being said, a lot of players who have been in the
game a while and their skills are starting to decrease feel like they need to keep up with the younger
generation of players entering the world of baseball. However, the older players are not getting any
younger with their age, or their body s ability, so their way of keeping up is to use PEDs so that their
recovery time is shortened to what it used to be so they can keep up with a 162 game schedule.
Another example of this would be Chris Colabello with the Toronto Blue Jays last season. He was
suspended 50 games for the use of PEDs but claims that he does not know how they entered his
system, but many people believe it was the case of not being able to keep up with the younger
generation, especially Tom Valcke, who has been around baseball for over 35 years. During one of
iCASE s practices he made this statement, He may love the game but if

Infj Personality Analysis
I agree and disagree with the results that I have a INFJ personality. I agree that I am an introvert
person. I don t really spend a lot of time hanging out with other people and I am normally quiet when I
am amongst big groups. I just like observing from the sidelines rather than being in the thick of it. I
also agree that I am mostly intuitive. I mostly act on my instincts and experiences from the past.
Additionally, I agree that I a have a judging personality. I enjoy sticking to routine most of the time. I
found it uncomfortable or stressful if I don t follow a schedule or if I am late to something. Although, I
can be flexible in certain circumstances. The one personality trait that I disagree about is that I have a
feeling personality.

I feel this process should be added to the un enroll task when doing account cleanup, as we already
have a process to remove a cardholders email and replace it with none@capitalone.com. Having
customers reply stop will provide a number cleanup in workbench. As for the identity verification
piece. If legal decides a customer needs to be verified before we can provide the reply STOP info then
we could use my original idea when this first came up and utilize the Step Up authentication piece,
that would give us the verification we need from a legal standpoint. Sorry this was so long but I
wanted your insight on this so we can come up with a viable solution during our next DTL meeting.

Advantages Of Open Lunch
When an argument is in the happening, it is always important to listen to, and understand both sides to
the story. Such as how seniors, or even students in high school would like to have open lunch instead
of having to stay in school during lunch hours. The administration is not allowing this to happen, for
they believe they cannot trust the students enough. The reason they think they cannot trust the students
is because of students breaking their trust in different matters. This has caused other students the
inability to be given a chance at gaining a teacher, or even the administrations trust. But if the
administration would look at this from the student s point of view, they could possibly see why
students are upset by not having an open lunch hour. The administration seems to think that all
students will act the same if given the privilege of an open lunch hour. But this is because they aren t
looking at this from a student s point of view. Many students are well behaved in school, and deserve
trust from teachers and such. If those students aren t allowed an open lunch hour, because of some
irresponsible student actions, then you could see why that could be irritating to the well behaved
students. Also if the schools lunch isn t something that the student wants to eat that day, the student
should be able to go out and eat, because lunch is a very important meal. I know that if I don t eat a
good breakfast, and I come to school I can t really concentrate on working

Is Turkey The Stupidest Animal In The World
Turkeys are large birds that behave differently from other birds. Their sizes are bigger compared to
most birds and are natives of North America. There are two different kinds of Turkey; domestic and
wild. Wild turkeys are the ones we eat for Thanksgiving or for Christmas. The domestic turkeys are
the ones raised in the farm while the wild ones are found in open forest, grassland and woodlands.
Turkey is a famous meal for western countries especially in Americas. This famous turkey is also
known for acting stupid and dumb. This paper will explain why Turkey is the stupidest organism in
the world.
Domestic turkeys have big boobs, which makes it more appealing for dinner meal. The big boobs are
what make it harder for domestic turkeys to be able to fly. Adult turkeys have approximately 5,000
feathers each and the male adult turkeys have 18 tails, which they use to attract the female turkey ...

What makes Turkeys very stupid from other birds is the way talk looks at thing. Turkeys do not have
ears but they good hearing which could be why they try to see whatever they hear. Turkeys can stare at
the sky for sixty seconds long without moving. Myths say that Turkeys drown in the rain from staring
at the sky. Although this myth is wrong it was made up due to how stupid turkey is. When Turkey
hears the rainstorm or thunderstorm, it just stands still and stares to see if it can what is making the
noise. In this process, it tilts its head to hear the sound better and that help it know where the sound is
coming from which is very stupid. Another weird thing about turkey is that the head changes color to
red when it is excited. The head of turkey can change to the color of red, brown, white, yellow, blue
and black based on its mood. When other animals are excited about something they make noise or run
around but in the case of turkey, it changes to

Treatment Of Metastatic Squamous Non Small Cell Lung Cancer
Opdivo (nivolumab)
Opdivo (nivolumab); Bristol Myers Squibb; For the treatment of metastatic squamous non small cell
lung cancer, Approved March 2015
WEDNESDAY, March 4, 2015 (HealthDay News) U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval of
Opdivo (nivolumab) has been expanded to include advanced non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the
agency said Wednesday in a news release.
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States, having been diagnosed more
than 224,000 times and causing more than 159,000 deaths in 2014, the FDA said. NSCLC is the most
common type, affecting seven of eight people with lung cancer.
Opdivo inhibits a protein that prevents the immune system from attacking cancer cells, the agency
said. The drug is sanctioned for people who have been treated with platinum based chemotherapy.
Opdivo was clinically compared to another anti cancer drug, docetaxel, in a study involving more than
270 people with NSCLC. People who received Opdivo lived an average of 3.2 months longer than
people given docetaxel, the FDA said.
The most common side effects of Opdivo are fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle and bone pain, loss
of appetite, cough, nausea and constipation. More severe adverse effects included immune reactions
involving healthy organs, including the lungs, colon, liver, kidneys and hormone producing glands.
Opdivo was approved previously to treat advanced melanoma among people who don t respond to
other medicines. ( FDA Expands Approved

  • 2. Operation Nordwind Research Paper One of the least know battles of World War II would become a crushing blow to a once world dominating force. The battle that would become the last offensive operation for the Waffen SS (Armed Squadron) it would be known as Operation Nordwind (Unternehmen Nordwind) (Chaisson, 2017). There were two offensive operations that were planned to occur almost simultaneously in the French Alsace Lorraine territory. Operation Nordwind was not the only relative operation planned to fight off the Allied force from entering Germany thru France. Operation Baseplate (Unternehmen Bodenplatte) was the Germans aerial offensive operation designed to weaken allied forces in northwestern Europe ( Ardennes Alsace, 2003). Ultimately, the second operation greatly depended on the successful outcome of Operation Nordwind. They were both planned by the Chancellor of Germany (Adolf Hitler) and his Commander in Chief West Field Marshal (Gerd von Rundstedt) in the winter of 1944 ( Ardennes Alsace, 2003). Furthermore, as with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The terrain was mountainous, hilly and heavily wooded, this provided the Allied forces with some cover and concealment abilities. Alsace Lorraine territory was often foggy which greatly deterred the Germans from conducting aerial bombing attacks and proper reconnaissance missions. ( Ardennes Alsace, 2003). The Germans were at an advantage with the size of their force being condensed whereas, the Allies were forced to maintain almost three times the battle space with relatively the same number of troops. The Germans had approximately 200,000 men, 1,000 battle tanks and 2,000 guns, deployed across a 60 mile front. Its combat power rivaling that of the Eastern Front made them a highly formidable fighting force. The Allies were spread thin across a 228 mile front that was defended by approximately 230,000 troops. ( Ardennes Alsace, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Essay on Technology in the film Tron Technology in the film Tron Introduction The purpose of my project is to discover how technology is represented within the film Tron. To answer this research question, I viewed and analyzed the movie and incorporated information from the text and various websites. While studying this film, I took into consideration factors such as images and language used, how technology is related to society, and what symbols the creator used to convey certain qualities of technology. In this research paper, I will begin by explaining the significance of this project and my areas of research. I will then relay the focus of my investigation, the methods I employed to gain my research, analyze the film, and discuss the implications of my analysis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This description led me to believe that the outlook of technology at the time, when the Internet was just being introduced to the public, was fear. People feared the unknown power of the new technology of computers. Tron is a story of man battling his own creations, which represents technology as a powerful force with destructive capabilities. I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited access to computers at that time. I wasn t concerned with the impact of new computer technology then, but remember hearing people say that machines would someday run the world. For example, I worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. I think this movie would probably have a bigger impact now that computers are such a large part of our everyday lives. Artificial intelligence is still a popular theme for science fiction movies, so people must like to consider it a possibility. I ve read that there is a possible sequel to the movie ... At this point my friend declared that she plus her four children all absolutely hated the kitchen area plus shall love to renovate plus modern it but were utterly daunted by the task and so hadn t attempted it. • 8. Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Analysis In The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, it is clear that the biggest theme of the story is the concept of good against evil. In the case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the conflict exists within the same person. It is generally believed that this internal struggle exists in everyone, and that man is not truly one, but truly two. It suggests that everyone has a dual personality , and a good and evil side exists in everyone. The struggle supposedly is usually a close fought battle that is close to a stalemate. But in the story, is there a clear winner of this internal battle? Does Mr. Hyde completely take over or does Dr. Jekyll ultimately resolve the situation? Even before we see Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, their characters (and thus the conflict between good and evil) is already developed. As the story moves on, we can see how evil starts to edge forward in the battle of good vs evil. Of course, it does not become the clear winner yet, but there are signs of how Robert Louis Stephenson tries to show that evil is overpowering in the soul. For example, when Mr. Utterson starts feeling bad for Jekyll, his friend, and And the lawyer set out homeward with a very heavy heart. Ay, it must be that; the ghost of some old sin, the cancer of some concealed disgrace: punishment coming, PEDE CLAUDO, years after memory has forgotten and self love condoned the fault. • 10. The Role Of Endothelin Receptor Populations On Ventricular... Use of Competitive Radioligand Binding to examine Endothelin Receptor Populations on Ventricular Cardiomyocyte Membranes of Spontaneous Hypertensive Rats. Abstract This investigation concerned the relationship between endothelin receptor populations on the ventricular cardiomyocyte membrane of spontaneous hypertensive rats at 16 weeks old. The use of radioligand competitive binding assay method, involving the displacement of [125I]ET 1 by 3 competitive, cold ligands, ET 1, ET 3 and BQ123, allowed for the generation of competition binding curves, that adopted either a one site or two site model and allowed the determination of relative IC50s and identification of receptor proportions. ET 3 produced a two site model suggesting the existence of ET A and ET B receptors on cardiomyocyte membranes in SHRs and calculated that around 29% of receptors were ET B, whereas ET 1 and BQ123 both produced one site models. Introduction Endothelin peptide family is a group of 3 isoforms of a peptide, comprising of 21 amino acids, all of which are formed from the same larger precursor, pro endothelin 1 by endothelin converting enzyme. (Inoue A et al,1989) Each isoform is distinguished from the others by a differing gene, with endothelin 2 and 3 differing from endothelin 1 by 2 and 6 amino acids, respectively. • 12. What Is The Role Of Islam A Turning Point In History The emergence of Islam in the seventh century is a turning point in history due to its high conversion rates and its advances in literature, science, and fine arts that affected the lives of many. Before the prophet Muhammad cultivated the religion of Islam, Arabia was a center of trade. Being the home of various clans and tribes, there would be feuds along the Arabian Peninsula over their opposing beliefs. Along with the blood feuds among the nomadic tribes, there was also village based agriculture which benefited flourishing small kingdoms. Being located in the crossing point for many trade routes, Arabia also gave rise to many cosmopolitan cities. Abolition And James Russell Lowell Abolition and James Russell Lowell The Declaration of Independence gave us the famous words: we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal. James Russell Lowell was a staunch believer that this famous phrase referred to all men, including slaves. Lowell held the opinion that it was the inborn right of all men to be free and that God created all human beings with the same natural rights. The poems The Present Crisis, On the Capture of Fugitive Slaves Near Washington, and Ode Recited At the Harvard Commemoration combined moral and religious beliefs and arguments to make a political statement about the abolition of slavery. By writing this poem, the author hopes to clearly state that all men are equal and that slavery is an affront to God. Ultimately his goal is that those reading this poem will be inspired to abolish slavery. Lowell believed that America was no longer using morality as its guide, but instead was being guided by poorly concealed self interest. According to a critic of Lowell s, He believed that America had lost sight of the common good. Increasingly divided into high and low, the populace seemed, to his mind, no longer willing to distinguish individual self interest from civic virtue (Bell 131). The list of patents is extensive (Fig 6). * Human Resources Management: Tesla is constantly aiming at recruiting and working with the best talents within the technology industry to achieve superior product development. * Company s culture: Unlike most companies, Tesla is still being funded by its investors, betting on establishing a new propulsion standard and making profits in the long run. Without the support of its CEO Elon Musk, this most probably would not have been possible. Tesla s differentiation strategy will most probably be sustainable in the long run, but only if the company keeps its essence of innovation. Although a differentiation strategy is harder to replicate than a cost advantage strategy, Tesla needs to innovate and improve their products or other competitors will find ways to replicate their products, even more now that Tesla released its patents. Tesla has already gained a reputation and position in the global market, the key for sustainability is how they manage to exploit and grow based on their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Secret Labyrinth Of A Snail Shell By Robert Hughes Essay The readings this week began to introduce basic ideas about urbanization and some general information about famous sites in Barcelona. In the first chapter of Barcelona: the Great Enchantress , Robert Hughes described how he was first introduced to Barcelona and its rich culture. He painted a very compelling picture of a city I now can t wait to visit one day. He began by introducing some Barcelonan sites he visited such as, the Sagrada Família designed by Gaudí, the Pyreness mountain range, and his friend Xavier Corberó s house, Can Cargol, located in Esplugües de Llobregat in Southern Barcelona. I found it fascinating that winding catacombs had been dug underneath Can Cargol for storage and possibly defense in the Roman times (Hughes 2004: 5). Hughes also suggested that these caves might have reminded people of the secret labyrinth of a snail shell (Hughes 2004: 5) which would explain how it got its Catalan name in which translates to house of the snail. He described his experiences in the cave and one particular instance stood out to me; In one of the storage rooms there was an old printing press that could have been used by a radicalist to promote anti Carlist texts (Hughes 2004: 5). According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, the Carlist movement was a political movement in Spain that attempted to change the government system from a more conservative to a liberal style. It impressed me that this smaller town could have housed a place that advocated for political change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the way that hieroglyphs were a visual language, the art of human figure ancient Egypt followed specific rules in order to be read, understood, and symbolic. Artists were not concerned with creating realistic images but rather to represent an ideal and harmonious version of reality. Artists developed conventions a harmonious canon of proportions, controlling the angle of view, and the size of each part in relation to the whole. During 17 years of reigning, 1353 1336 BCE, he broke the conventions of Egyptian art by showing himself in warm family scenes with his wife and children, and portraying himself and the rest of the royal family in a much more human and naturalistic manner, such as eyes being slightly more profiled than any of his predecessors had. There was also a push of physical distortion. It was all distinctively stylized. The portrayal of the physical characteristics of the pharaoh himself was the most peculiar result of Akhenaten art reform. In sculptures and paintings of Akhenaten, he is shown as having a long, slender neck, a long face with a sharp chin, almond shaped eyes, full lips, long arms and fingers, rounded thighs, a soft belly, and enlarged breasts. His odd androgynous appearance, depicted in the colossal statue of Akhenaten raising to about 16 feet, carved out of sandstone, was particularly prominent in art from the early part of the reign. His appearance was the challenge of Egyptian art style and the test of his relationship to the gods. Also another important piece to come out of this time was the head of Nefertiti, the favorite queen, made of painted limestone. The beautiful Nefertari was discovered in 1912 in the studio of the sculptor Thutmose. Creative fidelity entails that we follow tradition and live it with the help of the Church. The Doctrine of Deification is another important belief that Orthodox Christians follow more literally than other Christians might. Constantine s final major move in Orthodox history was creating the Council of Nicaea. This council defined the creed that Orthodox Christians still use to this day. The divide between the East and West became even more significant with the rise of Islam in 632 A.D. First you must prove that Christ is one hundred percent human (humanity), then you must prove that at the same time Christ is one hundred percent God (deity). As human, Christ had a body, he had a soul and spirit, he had human characteristics, and he was called by human names. In Luke 2:52, it is written that Christ, even though he had a virgin birth, He was born with a human body that was conceived by a human body. The movie I chose for this assignment is The Terminal. 2 Three Organizational Communication Concepts: Organizational Cultural Elements: According to Keyton (n.d.), organizational culture is defined as the set of artifacts, values and assumptions that emerges from the interactions of organizational members (p. 550). Some examples of artifacts and values include, norms, customs, how members should behave, and assumptions are revealed when talking about your work experiences. The culture of an organization can be simply what it feels like to be there (Keyton, n.d.). Every culture is dynamic, always changing and guides the construction of reality in a social community. There are 7 elements of culture which include metaphors, rituals, stories, artifacts, heroes and heroines, performances and values (class notes, Oct. 25). In the movie The Terminal the culture is constantly changing and when Viktor Navorski arrives, just his presence and the things he does changes the culture of the terminal and those people that he comes in contact with. One element is artifacts, this can include how he gathers the carts and puts them back to get the quarters. I wore uniforms for twelve consecutive years, and I feel very strongly that they impacted my education for the better. I had many friends attending public schools, and though they got to wear the latest fashion trends and look cute going to school, I felt that they were at a disadvantage not having uniforms. Uniforms should be implemented in primary and secondary schools because they enhance self esteem, produce a conducive learning environment, increase safety, and are cost effective. It is no surprise that children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, religions, and cultures attend the same schools. Individuality is a beautiful thing, but many times children seeing differences among their peers allows room for confusion, animosity, jealousy, and even anger. If a child is insecure about their clothes or appearance, their self esteem can suffer. Principle of Barbara Comstock Morse Elementary School, Mike Gulden, puts it plainly when asked what would happen if uniforms disappeared tomorrow, Our needy kids and fairly well to do kids might become magnified and polarized... There s that stigma of my socioeconomic status. Kids 5, 6, 7 years old shouldn t have to deal with that. (Boutelle 36.) When children aren t worried about what their clothes say about how much money their family has or their home life, they will feel more confident knowing they are dressed how everyone else is dressed. People who are apposed to the implementation of uniforms in schools argue that uniforms do not hide socioeconomic status. This may be true, but it certainly does minimize the visual signs of one s financial situation. There is always going to be a wide range of diversity in schools. This should not change, but as Gulden puts it, Life has enough hurdles for families and kids; I don t think one of them should be at school. (Boutelle 36.) Self esteem is a very sensitive thing for kids as they grow up, and as they go through puberty. Uniforms can boost that self esteem, and help those kids walk a little taller every day at school. Ancient Egyptian inscriptions never depict the literal words of these so called barbaric foreigners. The foreigners are always shown requesting mercy, and their speeches are always from the point of view of the Egyptians illustrating Egyptian prejudices. Egyptians utilized interpreters as early as the fourteenth century and then from the seventh century forward. Egyptians relied on interpreters in the Province of Elephantine, in the mining region of the Sinai Peninsula, and in their central government. I learned that heavily focusing on one of these life centers is not a healthy way to perceive your life, and that equally focusing on all of them is a much more effective way to use paradigms. Time management is another subject I feel Covey has really mastered. Covey puts all people into four quadrants: slackers, procrastinators, the yes man, and the prioritizers. Being honest with yourself and determining where you fall in these four categories is important. Once you have decided where you are at, you decide where you want to be, and how you are going to get there. Setting up a game plan is one of Covey s go to strategies for dealing with the problems of being a teenager. A plan, with the end in mind, is a major key in becoming the best person you can be. Covey s main point for readers, was to have a perfect balance of your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An anonymous monk at Byland Abbey wrote majority of the stories of vampires. The monks and high relgious leaders of these towns came up with these legends because they believed in vampires, but they also used them to control the people of their town. By doing the right thing during life you could prevent yourself from becoming a vampire in the afterlife. So basically the religious leaders played on the fears of the towns people to keep them in church and keep them in line. One of the more famous stories of this time was of two brothers that fell down dead one day and were buried only to be seen later that night walking through the town. (Keyworth 245). These stories spread and eventually the whole world was on vampire alert. These stories continued well on into the 1900 s eventually dying off slowly as the scientist learned more about humans, the body and how it worked. Legend Of The Ghost Dog Analysis The novel Legend of the Ghost Dog , written by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel, is a thriller and mystery tale about a young girl named Anita (although is known as Tee throughout the book), on an expedition she attended to a small cabin located in the Alaska wilderness, in the town of Nome, with her father and her younger brother Jack, and another young girl that she befriended named Quin. This adventure starts from not Tee s perspective, but from an older woman named Dodie about her childhood raising Siberian Huskies with her family, these chapters would consistently reoccur in the novel. The legend began as just a silly yet spine tingling fable of a dark looming creature known as the Shadow that lived deep in the Alaskan woods near a creek referred to as Dorothy Creek, where just so happen Tee, her little brother and her father were residing near, however escalated to a conundrum about the Shadow that turned out to just be a dog, a jet black Husky with pale blue eyes with a strong broad body, discovered by the two young girls after taking Tee s beagle on a walk in the snow. While Tee s and Jack s Mother was in Japan for two weeks during their spring break for law work, the siblings went with their dad, a writer, who was on the hunt for a story about how the relationship between dogs and man have become less and less throughout the years because of snowmobiles, there for people were not requiring dogs to pull sleds from place to place. Thomas Paine, the author of not just Common Sense but also The American Crisis , was one of the greatest journalists of the Revolutionary times. So to start, Thomas Paine was born January 29th, 1737 in Thetford, England. Even as a little boy his father had high expectations, so when Paine failed out of school at age 12 his father was very disappointed. At age 19, he set out to sea, but eventually failed at that too. If God created the earth and no one was around to see it, did it still happen? The answer to both of these questions is yes. Because of the Bible, we know that God created the earth in a literal 6, 24 hour days about 6,000 years ago. Many Christian think God may have used evolution and creation but that is not a viable theory. Methods such as Carbon Dating cannot be trusted because they have been proven inaccurate over and over again. • 44. The Catholic Faith Paper #2 The Catholic faith is based on this central figure, Jesus, who teaches them how to live in a manner according to the ultimate creator: God. There are ways to view Jesus in the modern day through different means of interaction. One way of interaction with Jesus is achieved when people attend church on Sundays to ensure that they are live according to God through their daily activities. Another way Christians see interaction with Jesus is through Mary and the saints because Mary and the saints are ideal examples of Jesus. These interactions are essential to the Catholic faith, but the most important reappearance of Jesus is through the Sacraments. Essentially, the Sacraments are a way of getting inside of the Bible by committing to the same actions that Jesus performed in the Bible. By conducting the sacraments, a person is considered to be transformed by doing the same things Jesus did. The reappearance of Jesus is best viewed through the Sacraments, more specifically in An Introduction to Catholicism through the explanation of the concept of sacramentality, which encompasses baptism, confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. In order to grasp an understanding of the Sacraments, a person must first understand the concept of sacramentality. According to Lawrence Cunningham, the word sacrament mean[s] a visible sign of divine power manifested in humanity (Cunningham, pg.101). There is no (real) definitive answer as to how or who started the game of baseball. However, there are some theories, the most common theory, references to games resembling baseball in the United States date back to the 18th century. Its most direct ancestors appear to be two English games: rounders (a children s game brought to New England by the earliest colonists) and cricket, (History.com Staff). When the American Revolution occurred there were many different variations of this game that were being played in schools of all levels, from elementary school yards to college campuses. There have been many players in MLB have used and been caught using PEDs and have faced serious penalty. The biggest case as of recent years was the Alex Rodriguez scandal. After a positive urine test, he continued to deny the use of PEDs but later, like half a year later finally committed to using them and was suspended without pay for a whole season. He is not the only player to use PEDs in the MLB but he is one of the ones to be caught in recent years. It is obvious that using drugs to enhance performance is banned, but there is the ethical debate of why? The main reason people come up with is that it is, basically, cheating which implies a theft of opportunity from other players of the sport. When one player gains benefits monetary compensation, fan appreciation, seasonal honors, statistical records, etc by using performance enhancing drugs, he does so by shouldering a lesser burden than players who do not use drugs, (Belousek 2014). That being said, a lot of players who have been in the game a while and their skills are starting to decrease feel like they need to keep up with the younger generation of players entering the world of baseball. However, the older players are not getting any younger with their age, or their body s ability, so their way of keeping up is to use PEDs so that their recovery time is shortened to what it used to be so they can keep up with a 162 game schedule. Another example of this would be Chris Colabello with the Toronto Blue Jays last season. He was suspended 50 games for the use of PEDs but claims that he does not know how they entered his system, but many people believe it was the case of not being able to keep up with the younger generation, especially Tom Valcke, who has been around baseball for over 35 years. • 48. Advantages Of Open Lunch When an argument is in the happening, it is always important to listen to, and understand both sides to the story. Such as how seniors, or even students in high school would like to have open lunch instead of having to stay in school during lunch hours. The administration is not allowing this to happen, for they believe they cannot trust the students enough. The reason they think they cannot trust the students is because of students breaking their trust in different matters. This has caused other students the inability to be given a chance at gaining a teacher, or even the administrations trust. But if the administration would look at this from the student s point of view, they could possibly see why students are upset by not having an open lunch hour. The administration seems to think that all students will act the same if given the privilege of an open lunch hour. But this is because they aren t looking at this from a student s point of view. Many students are well behaved in school, and deserve trust from teachers and such. If those students aren t allowed an open lunch hour, because of some irresponsible student actions, then you could see why that could be irritating to the well behaved students. Also if the schools lunch isn t something that the student wants to eat that day, the student should be able to go out and eat, because lunch is a very important meal.
