From the beginning of time, there has always been wildlife. The animals and plants of our
wildlife contribute to what makes this life so interesting. If all wildlife were to go extinct, then
we would not have a way to replenish the oxygen to survive off of. All animals and plants are a part
of our lifecycle and should be respected as such.
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was put in place to protect threatened and endangered animals
and plants. There are two agencies that equip this program, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
(FWS) and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This act was dated

The Endangered Species Preservation Act of 1966 authorized the Secretary of Interior to spend
$15 million per year to purchase habitats for the species on the endangered list. This act also
required protection of these species on federal land. All land belonging to the public that was
not government was not required but were encouraged to. Many benefits have come from these
law acts that have been set in place. Recovery plans have been put into place to help our animals
and plants replenish. While doing this, exemptions can and do occur. If there is a project to be
done within a habitat of a listed species, then the ESA must notify the FWS and National Marine
Fisheries Service. Once listed species reached a level of stable existence again, they were
delisted. As of 2011, fifty one species had been delisted. Any kind of harming, wounding, or
killing is considered to be a violation. Violations of these laws have a variety of penalties. The
maximum fine is up to $50,000 or a year of imprisonment, possibly both. I do absolutely believe
this law has improved our societies and environments due to helping original life to be sustained.
These animals and plants were created to be on this earth. They did not choose to be here and did
not choose to be killed for human pleasure. This law has given these listed species another chance.

The Declaration Of The Rights Of Man And The Citizen Analysis
By reading the Encyclopedie and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, one can
understand that there were many problems concerning people during that time, such as the
creation of a just government as well as the responsibility of a father. Firstly, the author in the
Encyclopedie put forth his belief of a just government, in which the rights of the people would be
preserved. In other words, this could also show the people s fear at the time of a creation of a
tyranny or a government which was regulated for the benefit of those who governed only.
Moreover, the author argued against other writers saying that their reason for one to oblige to
follow the unjust laws of the government because they were born the subject of their fathers

What Is The Broken Window Theory
James Q. Wilson and George Kelling in 1982 developed the idea of the Broken Windows Theory.
The Broken Windows theory was the first study linking minor crime being left unattended to
growing into serious crime. That crime originated from disorder. Wilson and Kelling argued by
eliminating disorder, serious crimewill decrease. The types of disorders are explained in further
depth. The first type of disorder is physical disorder. Examples of physical disorder is but not
limited to vacant buildings, broken windows, abandoned vehicles, and vacant lots filled with trash.
The second type of disorder is defined by noise, hostile panhandlers and young adults gathering in
groups on corners. These forms of disorder make the community appear unsafe

Essay On The Middle Passage
There are not very many detailed accounts from people who have experienced the Middle Passage
firsthand. One of those is the autobiography The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah
Equiano (1789) written by Olaudah Equiano. In this chilling book, he describes the awful
conditions he was faced with while on a ship across the Atlantic as a slave from West Africato the
West Indies, known as the Middle Passage. The Middle Passage was a horrible way to transport
slaves and there was no regard for human life on these ships. Millions of West Africans
experienced these horrors for more than three hundred years (1500 1860) (Berlin 1). It has also
been estimated by Curtin, a historian, that of those 20 to 30 million Africans only 9 to 12 million
survived the voyage (Guillaume 1). This voyage... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although not all of them agreed, it took quite some time for anyone to speak out. Around the
1830s, abolitionists came out to the public, at least in the North. As Guillaume describes the
slave trade: It is a phenomenon that forever changed life on both sides of the Atlantic. It
established the socio economic and cultural foundations for what would become the United
States, and it continues to determine how we value or disdain African Americans and other
people in this hemisphere (Guillaume 1). Colonists started to realize they could get free labor if
Africans were shipped over to them to do the rough work none of them wanted to do. Like
working on sugar, tobacco, cotton plantations, and many other types of hard labor, the kind people
think of immigrants doing in America to this day. They also helped in the process of mining gold
and silver but reaped none of the benefits. This also helped develop the idea of the single world

Much Ado About Nothing Tragedy
Tragicomedies, a type of writing or play, has been around for thousands of years. Much Ado
About Nothing, a drama written by playwright William Shakespeare, exemplifies compelling
characteristics that show up in tragicomedies. A few of the work s character s, such as Hero,
Beatrice, Benedick, Dogberry, Don Pedro, and Claudio, provide multiple examples of what a
tragicomedy has to offer. Shakespeare s dramaMuch Ado About Nothingis both a comedy and a
tragedy due to Dogberry s monologue, Hero s exposure of her unfaithfulness, and Beatrice and
Benedick s love.
For instance, Dogberry s monologue about Conrad s claim he is an ass provides a situation of
comedy. Dogberry, a constable who watches over the city of Messina, was the first to discover...

After the two future lovers were tricked into falling for each other, Hero was accused of her
unfaithfulness to Claudio by being around another man. Beatrice later said to Benedick Kill
Claudio...Not for the wide world. You kill me to deny it. Farewell (Act 4, Scene 1, 74). In her
eyes, Beatrice believes that Hero would do no such thing as cheat on her future husband, and that
Claudio must be murdered for his treason of calling her out in front of the crowd on the most
important day of her life. The idea of a possible death to a main character created a sense of panic
to readers and the thought of lifetime friends fighting to the death seems extremely inhumane.
On the other hand, once the conflict is resolved and Don John is found guilty of the entire
scheme, Beatrice and Benedick begin to joke about their love with each other and try to hide it
from the outside world by stating Do not you love me? Troth no, no more than reason... (Act 5,
Scene 4, 101). Hero then pulls out Beatrice s halting sonnet (Act 5, Scene 4, 101) that is writ in
my cousin s name (Act 5, Scene 4, 101), and Benedick and Beatrice s love is proven to the
world. By mixing some tragic and comedic flares into one scene, the understanding of the work is
brought out and imagery is present to paint a vivid image in any reader s

Simplifying Expressions
While working on this problem I learned a lot about basic properties of addition and
multiplication, such as distributive property, inverse property, commutative properties, etc. What s
common about these problems is the order in which we are going to do the steps. The first step
will always be to remove the parenthesis, which uses the distributive property. Second will always
be combining like terms and adding related coefficients what we have been working on this week
which is dealing with real numbers.
Here is the solution to the first problem:
2a(a 5)+ 4(a 5)
=2aa+2a( 5)+4a 4в‹…5
=2a^2 10a+4a 20
=2a^2 6a 20
The steps used to simplify this equation are as follows:
First I remove all of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I still have parentheses in the equation, they are only there to emphasize the negative
numbers.
20.05(0.3m+35n) 0.8( 0.09n 22m) =0.05в‹…0.3m+0.05в‹…35n 0.8в‹…( 0.09n) 0.8в‹…( 22m)
The second step is to figure out the correct coefficients:
0.05в‹…0.3m+0.05в‹…35n 0.8в‹…( 0.09n) 0.8в‹…( 22m)=0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m
The final step is to find the like terms and then combine them to obtain the simplified form:
0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m=17.615m+1.822n
The expression is now fully simplified to 17.615m+1.822n
In all three problems in this problem set, I learned how to simplify algebraic expressions using
distributive property and commutative property. In the second problem I used the inverse property
of addition. I noticed that the third problem was different from the first and second problems, in that
in the third problem there were no integer numbers. This whole section is about real numbers so
this problem set teaches us how to operate using both integer and non integer real

Advantages Of Tourism Essay
Theme: Tourism
A very good morning to our English for Effective Communication lecturer, Madam Pushparani
Anthony and fellow friends. In this wonderful morning, I would like to give a talk on Tourism . In
my speech, I am going to share with you some information on the beauty of Malaysia and the
advantages and the disadvantages of tourism towards the development of Malaysia. Basically,
tourism is a practice of travelling for pleasure especially on one s holidays. It is an organized
journey where several places are visited. When it reaches the time to decide the location for your
holiday, most probably you will be choosing a foreign country such as Korea, Japan, China or
European countries like Germany, France, United Kingdom and Italy. Since we are born in
Malaysia and have been living here for years, it is understandable why most of us willing to
choose foreign country as the destination for our holidays trip instead of domestic tourism. It is
true that you may be experience a whole different culture and lifestyle in others counties, but do not
forget, Malaysia is also one of the most beautiful and fascinating tourism destinations of South East
Asia. As we already knew, Malaysia has a multi ethnic, multicultural and multilingual society. There

relax and keep themselves far away from stressful, busy urban life. I am sure that all of us are
waiting anxiously for the holiday, just to escape ourselves somewhere in the mountains or on the
island. I believe, just by packing our luggage with family or friends, we can easily feel wonderful

The Arduous Journey Of Discovering Antonio s Destiny
I decided that The Arduous Journey to Discovering Antonio s Destiny is a decent, exceptional title
for my paper, because it gives a brief description on what my paper will be about, Antonio s
expedition on finding his destiny.
1 ВЅ ) When reading over the assignment rubric, I noticed a few errors. One being in question
number 1, where it says, How are Samuel, Antonio, and Cico different? . Instead of saying are
you would say is. Is is singular while are is plural, and since it s talking about each individual, it
would make it singular. 2) Antonio and Cico just saw a golden carp, which is a pagan god
according to Samuel. Witnessing it strongly impacted Antonio, since actually seeing it was as
splendid and impressive as the Catholic God. Previously observing Ultima s magic and just the
thought of the carp really shows to Tony that there is more to life than what he s been taught from
church and his mother. After confronting the carp, Antonio realizes that Ultima was able to do
things his Catholic god couldn t, revealing that he would never be fulfilled by his Catholic faith.
His friends Samuel and Cico are all different from each other. Antonio is a Catholic, Samuel tells
Antonio about the carp, and Cico believes in many gods, like the golden carp, and shows it Antonio.
3) In the setting of the novel, it seemed as if the boys and girls were separated in a way, because the
girls had to stay confined indoors while the boys had to go outside, even in the

The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems
The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our morals:
Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue Ethics. These four
theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and how one should handle any
situation. There are many strengths and weaknesses of each view. The goal is to determine which
theory is the best by exploring real world situations and questioning the claims that just don t work
out.
RELATIVISM ETHICS
There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and Subjectivism. Cultural
Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that
the individual person decides what is right and wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall
relativistic view. First, the positive: Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is
not likely to discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social
experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from the surrounding
people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many aspects of the world. Although this
might sound like a perfect world for everyone to be tolerant and understanding of one another, there
are many flaws to this theory. One flaw is that with this way of thinking, justice cannot exist. If
someone committed murder, they cannot be punished because they believe murder is right, which

Advantages and Considerations for Wynn Macau’s Casino
Executive Summary
Wynn was among the first 3 concessionaries to enter Macau when its gaming industry was liberated
and quickly became one of the most profitable casinos in Macau relative to its size. Junketeers have
contributed greatly to win s success, along with government initiatives. Though gambling is illegal
in many parts of the world, the industry is growing and competition is increasing, particularly in
the east By 2015, the Asian gaming market is expected to be the biggest in the world. In order to
continue to thrive in this growing industry, Wynn will have to consider expanding.

Macau s gaming industry is void of frequent price wars, proliferation of new products, intense
advertising campaigns, and high cost competitive actions and reactions (Peng, 2014, p. 35),
indicative of a low degree of rivalry among competitors. In the future as Macau attracts more, the
industry s profitability may be susceptible to decline because of the following characteristics:
rising number of firms in the industry, rivals are similar in size, influence, and product offerings,
capacity is added in large increments, and high exit costs. (Peng, 2014, p. 37) New casino
projects are already popping up in the nearby region and looking to attract high rollers away from
Macau. This particular market segment has been an integral part of Macau s growth and currently
accounts for 60 65% of the revenues of its largest casinos (The Economist, 2013). As Chinese
leaders attempt to zero in on leadership corruption, high rollers seek alternatives to the restricted
Macau.
1.2 Threat of Potential Entry In general, scarcity is one of the factors driving the SAR s success in
the gaming industry. Firstly, the Macanese government is exercising tight control over its
concessions by carefully selecting winners and holding them accountable to their obligations. Next,
we have the issue of land availability for development. Macau is a small peninsula measuring 28
square kilometers. As a result, there is little room for license holders to

Advantages Of The Dsm-5 Classification System
Essay Questions to the DSM IV Rodney Thomas Sr. Western International University Abnormal

DSM The DSM is a classified system used by psychiatrist and other clinical professions in order
to diagnose clients and patients who show signs of some type of disorder. The two advantages of
using this model or classification system ranges from the validity of an assessment used by
clinicians and other health care professionals. Build around the concepts and purposes for the DSM
model is that it supports a number of standard assessments of diagnosing different treatment
providers. Furthermore, (Comer, J. 2016) suggest that the DSM 5 requires clinicians to provide
both categorical and dimensional information which is part of being consistent in diagnosing. From
a categorical perspective this refers to the name of a particular category of a disorder which is
indicated on behalf of the client s symptoms. From the dimensional perspective it is a rating of how
the client symptoms and the severity of the dysfunction through various dimensions. Drawbacks
The controversy and criticism surrounding the DSM 5 models has raised questions about its
credibility and has raised concerns from the public on the reliability and effectiveness. Problems

The Effects Of Radiation On Tissue And Its Effects On The...
Since x rays were discovered in 1895, there have been several improvements made to diagnostic x
ray to make it safer for both the patient and the radiographer. Some of these improvements include,
aluminum filters, protective housing, lead shields/ aprons, and quicker exposure film. These
changes have undoubtedly improved the diagnostic radiation process, however both patient and
radiographer will still receive some dose of radiation. The effects of radiation on tissue are divided
into two types: deterministic and stochastic. A deterministic effect describes ionizing radiation
induced damage that occurs once a certain threshold is exceeded and increases in severity the
greater the dose.1. (pg2 3) Some of the more extreme deterministic effects that occur with
exposure to high amounts of radiation in a short period of time are: Skin Erythema/Necrosis,
cataracts, sterility, radiation sickness, and death. Stochastic effects are probabilistic and there is no
threshold amount that must be reached. As the amount of exposure increases so does probability
of effects. However the amount of exposure does not correspond to the severity of the effects.
Some of the stochastic risk can include development of various types of cancer and hereditary
defects. It is more difficult to track the long term stochastic effects that occur during chronic low
doses exposure because there are other additional factors that must be taken into account. We are all
exposed to background radiation. The

Drunk Driving Family
August 7th 2012, a day I will never forget, I heard the news that would alter my life and my
family s lives forever. My uncle was in a devastating car accident that almost took his life. We
were worried sick; It took what felt like forever for my family and I to see him after the accident,
the doctor told us that he was lucky to survive because the chances of him making it were very
slim. The cause of this accident was drunk driving, a man hit my uncle out of nowhere. The man
who was driving did not get hurt and left the scene right after he hit my uncle. Many drunk
drivers are careless and do not realize the damage that they can cause to many people s lives. My
uncle was lucky enough to survive an accident from drunk driving while many people are not as
fortunate. Even though my uncle did not die he was still severely injured and it made my whole
family aware of the pain of these accidents. These accidents can happen to anybody.
From that day forward, I decided that I had to educate myself on the harms of drunk driving and
educate others about how drinking and driving is not something that should be taken lightly. I am
an advocate against drunk driving not only because my uncle was a victim in an accident but
because of all the innocent lives that are lost to people who should not be on the road ... Show more

Caleb McLaughlin. He looked so handsome with his tuxedo even though he is a young boy. The
tuxedo fitted nicely on him because he mixed colors very well. He wore navy blazer that was
embellished with silver flower patterned jacquards. It was notch lapels and a single breasted with
one button. He didn t mention the brand or designer of the tuxedo, but he just said that he rented it.
He wore white classic medium spread collar shirt with black buttons. He didn t wear vest but it

The Experience Of Metaphors In Speak By Laurie Halse...
The experience of abuse and trauma is overwhelming emotional pain that threatens the soul and
avoids all rationalization. (Dr. Bill) Speak , a novel by Laurie Halse Anderson helps you consider
how others actions could permanently damage someone s future and mindset. Melinda Sordino s
past peers incidentally haunt her, making her feel damaged and ghostly. Melinda s thoughts altered
making her think that her speech negatively affects everyone, which is the result of Melinda s
schoolmates bullying her, making her struggle in being positive. Students at Melinda s school make
her feel isolated and even unable to deliver speech by having unhealthy thoughts about herself,
resulting in Melinda feeling dirty and cold. Furthermore, throughout the school year, Melinda s past
distress obstructs her maturation process.
Metaphors in Speak show that Melinda s past peers unintentionally destroy her self respect,
resulting in a feeling of dread engulfing Melinda, her. Thus, Some individuals tend to jump to
conclusions without thinking about others .On her first day of high school, the entire ninth
grade population holds a grudge against Melinda for calling the cops at a summer party without
knowing it was because she was raped. During her lunchtime, Melinda stand[s] in the centre aisle
of the auditorium as if she is a wounded zebra in a National Geographic special, looking for

people, yet still alone, shows that she has no support from anyone. Melinda is hurt so strongly
by others rude attitude towards her to the point she feels as if she has been physically wounded,
even hunted, by the students from her school. Melinda is seen as if she betrayed her peers by
calling the police, lowering her certainty along with her self esteem, which interrupts her mental
ageing process. She is instantly blamed which results in a lack of support, as well as company to
start high school. In addition, Melinda views herself as a broken girl who cannot figure out her

The greatest factor within health care between social and racial divides is that of a
socioeconomic status. The rich are given more opportunities and advantages than the poor, a
common history that is also found between white and minorities. Minorities make up a majority
of the lower class society due to oppression and lack of opportunities that can be used to gain
upward social mobility. The elite and upper class are more readily available to gain intellect about
current medical trials that show advancement in health issues. The elite are educated and they
have financial strengths that allow them advantages that the lower class lack. While there are
other integrated factors, such as, underlying health issues and racial disparities the main issue is
socioeconomic status. In Marxism theory this would be comparable in that the bourgeoisie are
exploiting the proletarians by not providing adequate healthcare opportunities. Additionally,
W.E.B. DuBois would use the color line theory, by showing that there is a pure divide between
races. The lower social class is mostly those of racial and ethnic backgrounds and therefore this

For this assignment I selected The Policy and Legislation Debate for U.S. Health Care Reform
2009 present. I believe that we are in need of health care reform because the current system
although previously revamp with the Afford able health care plan is still not working for everyone.
In 2009, 50.7 million of the population in the United States had no health insurance; this reflects
16.7 percent of the total population, and 10 percent under the age of 18 (Wolf, 2010). The new law

According to Bovbjerg and Hadley (2007), the following is true: members of our society who
have no insurance receive medical care in lesser amounts and in less timely fashion; health
outcomes for those without insurance are 25 percent higher than for those diagnosed with chronic
illnesses; families with no insurance carry a large financial burden making the expansion of
coverage a greater benefit than the costs that are for services added. We must find a solution to
this problem; we are the wealthiest nation in the world and yet we provide no universal health care
for our citizens. The level of the role the government must play must be explored until a resolve is
found to the satisfaction of the majority.

the Black Panther Party. He was born in Texas in 1936, Bobby Seale is one of a generation of
young African American radicals who broke away from the usually nonviolent Civil Rights
Movement to preach an idea of militant black empowerment, He helped create the Black Panthers
(later renamed the Black Panther Party) in 1966. In the 1970s, as the Black Panthers went off the

In September 1962, Seale met Huey Newton at a rally that was protesting the Kennedy

start of Seale s political radicalism, which was deepened when Bobby attended a speech given by
Malcolm X.
In 1966, Seale and Newton were ready to organize their beliefs and they formed the Black Panthers.
Originally created as an armed force protecting the black community from the racist Oakland police,
the Panthers reputation grew and people started to know who the Black Panthers were.. The
Panthers became a new, but powerful voice in the Civil Rights Movement, and they rejected the

The Panthers focused much of their time on communities, and the California movement sparked

was needed to be explained to the public, so he wrote Seize the Time: The Story of the Black
Panther Party and Huey P. Newton(published in 1970). In that same year, Seale was arrested
while protesting at the Democratic National Convention. He and seven other defendants, known as
the Chicago Seven after this incident, were tried for conspiracy to incite riots that resulted in
Seale being sentenced to four years in prison for contempt of court. Seale was also tried during
this period for the murder of a fellow Panther suspected of being a police informant, but the trial

Notes On Phenotypic Plasticity And Local Adaptation
Phenotypic Plasticity
Phenotypic plasticity is when a genotype of an organism displays different phenotypes due to the
conditions of the environment. It is important to understand why different organisms respond
differently to changes in the environment and the ways they adapt to these changes. This paper
focuses on whether these adaptations are due to either phenotypic plasticity or local adaptation.
Since nothing is ever perfect, the paper also concentrates on the constraints of phenotypic plasticity
which are divided into two; costs and limits. Costs of phenotypic plasticity would be that which
would lead to reduced fitness. In contrast, the limit of plasticity is where the traits produced by
plasticity is not at an optimal level. The effects of plasticity in a population is also discussed. Since
phenotypic plasticity can be measured at different levels, this paper would focus mainly on the
individual phenotypic plasticity.
Introduction
Environmental adaptation, which occurs when there is a change in the environment leading to
modifications that allow the organisms in that environment adapt to those changes over time, can
be characterized into two levels; selection and phenotypic plasticity. Selection happens when an
allele is more favorable in an environment, its frequency increases over time but when it is
unfavorable, its frequency decreases. When a genotype of an organism displays different phenotypes
due to the conditions of

Tate and Lyle PLC Tate and Lyle PLC is an international manufacturer of cane sugar, sucralose

merger of two companies: Tate, a sugar refining business started by Sir Henry Tate in 1859, and
Lyle, a sugar refining business started by Abram Lyle in 1865. They are currently the only cane
sugar refiner in the UK, and the largest in Europe. (Tate and Lyle, 2009) Tate and Lyle operate in

As illustrated by Sloman and Hinde (2007), an Oligopoly by nature has price stability, even
when there has been no collusion between firms. This theory is based on two assumptions. For
example, if Tate and Lyle were to lower their prices, British Sugar and the other rivals would feel
the need to follow suit to prevent losing customers to Tate and Lyle. Contrastingly, if British
Sugar raised their prices, Tate and Lyle would not follow suit. They would keep their prices the
same and gain customers from British Sugar. The kinked demand model illustrates this. A
kinked demand curve for Tate and Lyle as an Oligopolist Sloman and Hinde (2007) For any firm
changing its price, it is vital to know the likely effect on the quantity demanded Sloman and
Hinde (2007). Tate and Lyle was thinking of increasing its prices after a decline in profitability
due to the rising cost of oil which plays a big part in its energy costs. Tate and Lyle are in a
market with very low price elasticity. Sugar is not a very expensive commodity and people will
still buy it even if the price goes up slightly. Another aspect is that people become accustomed to
sugar in their tea or coffee for instance, so even if prices rose significantly, consumers would not
give up their sugar consumption straight away. (Bized, 2005) Price elasticity of demand curve for

Analysis of The One Minute Manager by Kenneth Blanchard and Spencher Johnson The One
Minute Manager by Kenneth Blanchard, Ph.D. and Spencer Johnson, M.D., seems like a
practical simple plan on managing people and there for other areas of one s life, however I must
admit I am a little skeptical. The three philosophies do make sense especially once analogies are
used to put them into more simple terms. Being in the work forcefor more than fourteen years I
have witnessed many types of mangers. I have worked for hostile managers, calmcaringmanagers
and managers who fit somewhere in between. My skepticism with this theory is simply applying
its use. On paper this method sounds great and makes a lot of key points, but again after... Show

The One Minute Praising is a pleasant philosophy. As a manager tell the employee up front that
they will receive updates on their performance. Give your employee praising every time he or
she does something right to point them in the direction of the ultimate goal. Specify what they
did right and how it made you feel. A moment of silence should then be kept to give off your
good feeling. This concept teaches the employee how to praise him or herself. The praising is
followed up by a handshake or physical gesture to show you support their success.
I agree the more you praise the individual the closer they are to praising themselves. When people
feel good about themselves and the work they perform, it makes them want to do better. I could
be categorized as one of those people. My performance reviews have always been happy times
for me. After going over my review, I find myself on a high for weeks. My boss will then critique
me on something that was not done right and I go into I don t care mode. I get defensive and my
attitude reflects in my work. It takes longer for me to accomplish that task and I do not put as
much effort into it as when I am feeling good. Giving praise gets people in the routine of praising
themselves. I have a habit of patting myself on the back when I feel I have done a good job or

from the Bay of Bengal. Farmers have relied on embankments to segregate saline sea water from
engulfing their soil but the devastation caused by Typhoon Aila in 2009 destroyed approximately
900 kms of embankment thus salinating many miles of agricultural land. This prompted Kolkata

A Christmas Carol Analysis
Chains composed of links forged from sin, sorrow and seclusion are Ebenezer Scrooge s awaiting
fate, unless he can put his pride behind him to gain forgiveness from those he hurt...before it s too
late. Scrooge believes that man s business is to make money, which opposes Dickens teachings, in
his book A ChristmasCarol. In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickensshows that one s business in life
is to commit to charity and helping others, through what Scrooge learns from the Three Spirits
lessons. In stave I, Scrooge thinks man s business is making money, which caused him to be the
way he is, penurious and lonely. In the following piece of evidence, Scrooge gets into an
argument with his nephew. Clearly expressing the fact he very much dislikes Christmas, in this
argument, and that it makes no one any richer, so there should be no point to celebrate;
especially for someone who is apparently as poor as Fred, his nephew. But, Fred believes there
is so much more to Christmas. On page 5, in stave I, Scrooge says to Fred, Whats Christmastime
to you but a time for paying bills without money; a time for finding yourself a year older, and not
an hour richer... This evidence is relevant, because it shows how Scrooge believes that Christmas
is unproductive and ineffective. While Fred believes otherwise, he did not convince his Uncle
Scrooge of the true meaning of Christmas, not in this encounter anyway. Still carrying on the
argument, Scrooge tells Fred his honest opinion about Christmas. From Scrooge to Fred, ...If I
could work my will... every idiot who goes about with Merry Christmas on his lips should be
boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart, stave I, page 6.
This evidence is essential, because it unmistakably shows Scrooge s true hatred for anyone who
carries the Christmas spirit in his presence. After all the Spirit s lessons, Scrooge now believes
mankind s businesses is to give to and take care of others, and be happy with what you ve been
given. In the book, after Scrooge wakes up on Christmas morning in the best mood ever, he runs
into the charity workers that asked him to donate to the less fortunate, at the beginning of the book.
Upon seeing him, Scrooge feels guilty

.........An analysis of oppression and resistance in Alice Walker s The Colour Purple (1982) and
Lawrence Hill s The Book of Negroes (2007).
Historically, it is widely known that during times of segregation and the slave industry that
oppression was common towards African Americans and that white supremacy was prominent.
Alice Walker s award winning The Colour Purple (1982) is a narrative, told through the perspective
of a poor, uneducated, African Americannamed Celie, who is writing letters to God. Through her
letters readers learn of her abuse, and her experience with being bought and sold away from home,
far from the ones she loves. With that perspective readers are educated on the trials ... Show more

Readers are educated on the double edged sword of being both black and a female. Walker does
this by by expressing how gender oppression complicates racial oppression. Black female
characters not only had to face slavery and racism but also sexism and abuse, mentally,
physically and sexually. This was encountered by both white and black male characters. The
black males in the novel are portrayed as cruel, as they live in a world where white men rule and
feel like less of a man and because of this they take out their anger and frustration on the black
females. Walker starts her novel with Celie s letter describing the brutal rape by her father.
Walker writes He just say you gonna do what your mammy wouldn t. First he put his thing up
against my hip ... when that hurt I cry. He start to choke me, saying you better shut up and git
used to it. (1) In comparison to the white male characters, Celie s father feel as if he has very
little worth, therefore taking out his frustration on his daughters. Readers learn that Fonso
impregnated Celie twice, disposing of both children, and once he got bored he turned his
attention towards Nettie. Celie is also raped daily by Mr.__. He would try to convince her that
since they are married she is obligated to have sex with him whenever he wants, but when she
wouldn t oblige he would beat her then forcefully rape her. Walker writes Just finish my business,
get off and go to sleep. Mr__ also asserts his male dominance by beating her in front of people.
Walker writes, He beat me today cause he say I winked at a boy in church. I may have got
something in my eye but I didn t wink. I don t even look at mens, I m too scared of them. This
quote shows how fearful Celie is of the male character both black and white. She doesn t say i m
scared of white men , she openly writes of her fear of all men. She s afraid to look or speak with
them as she knows it will result

News Media Bias Essay
News media has a largely, overwhelming influence on Americans in this day and age. Over the
years, audiences have been exposed to various types of broadcast journalism, each with their own
forms of bias to generate attention towards various topics. The audience perceive bias in news
media program. An in depth analysis of bias on opinionated news compared to non opinionated
news is key to figuring out how the news mediamay be sensationalizing a problem. The apparent
goal of some American news media particularly cable news shows and talk radio is to stimulate a
problem.
According to one news source, What works in cable television news is not an objective analysis
of the day s events but hard nosed, unstinting advocacy of a specific point of view on a sizzling

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Chipotle
Chipotle ventured into a new territory when it was created, as it had an innovative vision for fast
casual restaurants. By using fresh and quality ingredients, Chipotle raised the bar in their segment.
The service line where customers could see their order being prepared enhanced the experience of
Chipotle. Consumers who were used to eating at fast casual restaurants where the food was frozen
and made out of sight were able to savor the uniqueness of Chipotle. These differences helped
Chipotle become successful. However, as competitors copy the traits that make Chipotle unique,
Chipotle must adapt and overcome in order to remain a profitable company. Chipotle saw an
opportunity in the fast casual restaurant industry and launched an innovative concept. It believes
that fresh and quality ingredients are key and that customers are willing to pay more for such
ingredients. To ensure such ingredients, Chipotle uses a large amount of organic food in their
restaurants. This not only creates fresher and healthier food options for consumers, but also assists
local farms that supply the organic food. Not only does Chipotle use organic food, but it uses
produce that is in season. This reduces the costs of transporting produce and ensures that the
ingredients are fresh. While competitors attempt to replicate the menu, style, and flavors of
Chipotle, they do not have the resources to use organic ingredients as efficiently as Chipotle does.

Music is shown to have a profound impact on the emotional experience felt by a listener, resulting
in an association of music and emotion. The tone of a song is able to ignite specific emotions within
people, and often times, that feeling of happiness.
Musicality is like math it is the same in every country. It is a universal code, which creates the
intensifying of emotions in human beings one of which is happiness. Because it is the same in
every language, music creates a common denominator for people everywhere. When opinions
differ, and social issues change, music remains constant. It can be referred to as a science of some

Art concerned with combining vocal or instrumental sounds for beauty of form or emotional
expression, usually according to cultural standards of rhythm, melody, and, in most Western music,
harmony. Music most often implies sounds with distinct pitches that are arranged into melodies and
organized into patterns of rhythm and meter. The melody will usually be in a certain key or mode,
and in Western music it will often suggest harmony that may be made explicit as accompanying
chords or counterpoint. Music is an art that, in one guise or another, permeates every human
society. It is used for such varied social purposes as ritual, worship, coordination of movement,
communication, and entertainment. (Quoted in Merriam Webster) Music is characterized by the

The Family Fang Analysis
In the words of renowned artist Pablo Picasso, the purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life
off our souls . Art can be interpreted in many ways by those who view it, it can take many forms
and its purpose is not always clear. The way art is defined is just as broad. The Merriam Webster
dictionary defines it as a branch of learning , an occupation requiring knowledge or skill or as the
conscious use of skill and creative imagination . This definition can also be widened to include a
branch of art known as performance art, where art is performed and experience live by an audience.

The early 1970 s, the period in which both pieces were preformed, saw the United States engaged
in a violent conflict in Vietnam with protests and demonstrations sometimes being put down
with force. Political unrest was visible especially among young artists. These young artists were
at the center of this resistance and used their art to make their views known. The work in the
novel has the added nuance of actually taking place on a university campus. Author Kathy O
Dell remarks that she knew that the Vietnam War was one of the reasons Burden pushed himself
to such physical and phycological limits (O Dell xii) in his performances. In the novel, Caleb
and Hobart seem concerned most of all with creating art that is noteworthy and meaningful
(Wilson 186). One of the most noteworthily things that can be done with their art is to create
something with a political message behind it. In the novel, this message is not explicitly stated,
it is more clear in the real life version of the act. In 2005, Burden explained certain aspects of his
original 1971 performance. He says all of a sudden U.S. troops were shooting at protesting
students... all of a sudden it [the violence] ... took on another dimension . He took the social unrest
and unease he saw around him and used his art as a platform to start a conversation around the war
in Vietnam and the prevalence of violence in general. These

How Long Should A Roof Fail Essay
Homeowners often ask the question, how long should a roof last? , yet there is no simple answer
to this query. Numerous factors play a role in the lifespan of a roof, from the type of shingles
selected, the climate in which the residence is located and roof maintenance. Sadly, many
homeowners have a new roofput on the home, then forget about it until a problem arises. They fail
to inspect the roof regularly, then when a storm hits or snow comes down, they hope and pray it
holds up. Don t fall into this category. With proper roof maintenance, a homeowner can feel secure,
knowing their home is protected by a strong and stable roof.
How Long Should A Roof Last?
The average roof, one constructed with asphalt shingles, should last a minimum of 20 to 25 years in
the event it is properly maintained. As the vast majority of homes in the United States currently
have an asphalt shingle roof, this applies to most homes. Metal roofs tend to be extremely durable
and can last 40 years or more, while tile roofs have an average lifespan of 50 years. Invest in a slat

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Seddi
6. PREPARATION OF SEDDS
Method of preparation may vary according to the dosage form of the formulation. The techniques
can be implemented accordingly to the stability, sensitivity and adaptability of the drug excipients
to self emulsified form. In olden days, SEDDS are prepared in the form of liquid state where it will
be enclosed by hard or soft gelatin capsules. By this, it helps to enhance oral administration and
later on it is known to burden in the formulation. Main disadvantages are low drug incompatibility
and stability, drugs leakage and precipitation, capsule ageing and it is very costly. Besides, addition
of large quantity of surfactants in this formulation tend to induce gastrointestinal irritations. To

7.1 Advantages
As SEDDS is formulated, it carries a major advantage over delivering efficiently as it has
improved the stability of highly lipophilic drugs. The major advantages of SEDDS are:
пѓјEnhances the dissolution rate and bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs
пѓјActs as substitute for traditional oral formulation of lipophilic drugs
пѓјBetter consistent of temporal profiles of drug absorption
пѓјHelps in selective drug targeting towards a specific site in GIT
пѓјProtects drug molecule from the hostile environment of GIT

The Ethical Beliefs Of Judaism And Judaism
Judaism is a way of life for the devout Jew as it has significant abundance of traditions and
teachings associated with it. Its main aim is to form a proper manner between an individual and
God, and the second is the proper manner between two or more people. The core ethical teachings,
the Commandments of the Torah, the Prophetic Vision, the Book of Proverbs and its teachings
bestowed upon it, Wisdom, Righteousness, Purity and Generosity of Spirit are a constant reminder
of the Jews relationship with God.
The Commandments of the Torah Halachah which means the way of life is the foundation of the
Jewish ethical system and the essence of the 613 mitzvot, which include the written and oral Torah.
The Ten Commandmentsthat were given to Moses by God on Mount Sinai is the basis of the
covenant between God and the Jewish people and state the central code of conduct for a devout Jew
. These commandments are split into positive and negative commandments, which highlight how a
Jew should and should not conduct themselves. The positive commandments deal with the
relationship and worship between God and his people of Israel. This can be seen in the
commandment, You shall have no other gods before me The negative commandments are
concerned with individuals and their relationship with the community on what they should not do.
An example of this would be, You shall not murder
The prophets of Tanakh were individuals who experienced the calling of God to bring important

Wernher Von Braun Research Paper
Wernher von Braun
I decided that for my project i would research Wernher von Braun. The reason i chose him was
because of his development of missiles and rockets for the United States of America and Germany.
He boosted the efforts of the Americans during the cold war with the Soviet Union and became the
first head of the National Aviation and Space Administration. This is important to us in aviation
because he helped to propel American aviation to new heights with technology developed during
the space race.
Wernher von Braun was born on March 23, 1912, in Wyrzysk, Poland to a wealthy family with
minor political influence. Most people born to such an aristocratic family would have gone on to
lead a similar lifestyle, but Wernher von Braun

In counter to the Soviet Union s launch America decided to launch their own satellite. That satellite

Semi Autonomous Vehicles In William Gibson s The Shining
Imagine this, Mr. Jones, a fictitious character, is flying in to visit his family in Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania. He arrives at the Pittsburgh Int l Airport and instructs the Uber app on his phone
to ring him a ride and take him to his family s residence. A grey Ford Fusion pulls up to the curb,
and Mr. Jones notices that the roof looks like it s been taken over by a robotic parasite, cameras
and sensors festoon the once elegant design. Nevertheless he pops in his carry on luggage and
gets in. Only to find that no one is the car, just him, alone. He types in the address on the
blinking iPad and the car drives away seemingly knowing exactly where it s going. Mr. Jones is
more frightened of this trip s outcome than the first time he saw The Shining. This alarming, gut
wrenching, nervous reaction will be quite common if tech giants win the battle for Completely
Autonomous Cars (CAC). Semi Autonomous Cars (SAC) already exist and are extremely helpful
to most people. These cars still have steering wheels, pedals, gear selectors, etc. Most importantly
they can still be controlled by humans. CAC are boxes with a bench, no controls and no
emergency override. Occupants are subjected to whatever the car decides what is best for them.
While this may sound like a perfect utopian future, it is closer to something from a Ray Bradbury
book than Disney s Tomorrowland.

Parker s Back by Flannery O Connor
To the uninitiated, the significance of Flannery O Connor s Parker s Back can seem at once
cold and dispassionate, as well as almost absurdly stark and violent. Her short stories routinely
end in horrendous, freak fatalities or, at the very least, a character s emotional devastation.
Flannery O Connor is a Christian writer, and her work is message oriented, yet she is far too
brilliant a stylist to tip her hand; like all good writers, crass didacticism is abhorrent to her. Unlike
some more cryptic writers, O Connor was happy to discuss the conceptual and philosophical
underpinnings of her stories, and this candor is a godsend for the researcher that seeks to know
what makes the writer tick.
Flannery O Connor put much conscious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For me, the most chilling aspect of the story is the description of a prophetic water stain above
Asbury s bed:
Thematic Elements
This concept of displacement runs throughout O Connor s work, and it is essentially a
displacement from the world of the one true God, a theological displacement, although within the
context of the story it is more social, based on the nature of the freak s position in the society. Very
often, the grotesque elements of O Connor s stories are balanced out by anagogical ones. Again,
the latter are not specifically symbols, for symbols work contextually to represent interactive story
elements, whereas O Connor s anagogical elements are just there, they wander in and out of the
action; they may have symbolic significance, but it never comes directly into play as a plot
element. Facing death is another thematic element that recurs often in O Connor, for obvious
reasons, both personal and religious. 23 O Connor admits as much herself, in an essay in which
she discusses A Good Man is Hard to Find: The heroine of the story, the Grandmother, is in the
most significant position life offers the Christian.
She is facing death. 24 This last quote speaks volumes; it is probably the single most significant and
telling remark the student of Flannery O Connor can have in his attempt to understand her work.
Clearly facing death as a Christian was the motivational engine that

The Missing Statues

the collection Love begins in Winter in 2009. As one of the five tales written in the collection, the
author brings out the emotions to the surface with symbolic meanings and deeper psychology
thoughts as they are presented alongside the characters in these short stories. In The Missing
Statues , we have a main protagonist whose story we follow from the beginning towards the end.
This story is about an American diplomat who collapses onto a bench near St. Peter s Square. He

meaning to it. As for our main character Max, it is not randomly that he is in Rome by the St.

depressed. Paradoxically, the place is also being described as a joyful place where lots of people

The Demon Lover And The Disturbing Lover
Marriage has been an important aspect of life for thousands of years. While the world has not
always married people formally, the link between a wife, her husband, and both their families has
been a significant part of history; however, things change. Many women cheat and have children
that are not their husbands . It has been a problem since Mesopotamian society; at least, that is as
far back as society can trace it. Ancient societies started making laws against the adultery of a
womanand punished them for cheating. While the laws have disappeared, adultery has still
continued through history. Both the The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen and the Scottish
ballad The Daemon Lover deliver messages in order to warn women to stay faithful to their
partners, no matter the circumstances. Bowen s The Demon Lover expresses a warning to
women during times of war. The story takes place at the beginning of World War 2 and tells the
tale of a woman, Mrs. Drover, who remarried after her fiance was presumed dead during his time
in the war, but many years later, received a letter from him. She was awestruck, but she had a
husband and kids... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both stories have the woman remarry and have kids (though the number of kids varies) and the
woman reunites with the man in some form, whether through the letter in Bowen s story or in

ship and the couple going to hell and Bowen s story ends in the taxi speeding away without
mercy, (arguably) taking the taxi driver, the Devil, and Mrs. Drover to hell. Both stories varied in
details. The number of children changed and the story of the woman changes. The ballad is more
straight to the point and conveys the message quickly in contrast to The Demon Lover in which the
story is more descriptive and is left to deeper

With that, I got out of the car waved and gave a thumbs up to my Dad and headed towards my

waited, standing off to the side of team. Almost too soon the chatter of the group died down and
the coach, a small fit man approached us. He told us to run two miles in under fourteen minutes,
which was about six laps around the field. So with no further discussion the group set off at a
grueling pace, happy to race each other. We ran as a unit and I became comfortable with the
rhythm of their thumping feet. I was content that I was able to keep up, considering they had
already been practicing for a while. Soon our group was increasingly linear and I found myself
unsurprisingly, near the back. My very bones hurt, rattling as my aching legs continued on
purely by effort. I desperately sucked in breath but my throat was tight and it was not enough. I
tried again, and again but my airway was even smaller. It was as if I was in a raging river,
moving downstream quickly helplessly trying to stay afloat, completely out of control. Now I was
falling behind the group and I imagined disapproval from the distant foreboding figure of the

extreme effort. Not even after a minute my pace had

The Significance of Act 3 Scene 7 to Shakespeare s Richard III Richard iii essay Richard the
third is the last play in a cycle of eight plays that Shakespeare wrote to dramatize the history of
England between 1398 1485. The plays depict the struggle for the crown and in Richard the
third it shows how Richard finally gets to the crown by committing lots of murders but then is
toppled by Richmond. In this essay I will explore how significant act 3 scene 7 is to the play. In
this play Richard is presented as a ingenious man who can easily manipulate others for his sake ,

Buckingham answers give me some little breath, some pause, dear lord . That quote shows how
buckinghams conscience needs some time to think about whether he shall kill the princes. I
think Buckingham has a problem about killing the princes as they are only young and innocent.
Buckingham helps Richard become king as he is promised riches, power and the earldom of
Hereford but when he thinks about killing the princes Richard gets angry as he does not want
someone who thinks about orders they were given, so Richard does not give Buckingham the
reward that he was promised. This makes Buckingham angry so he brings an army to kill Richard
but a storm disperses the troops. Buckingham aand Richard need each other to be as strong an
example of this would be when Buckingham spreads the rumours about king Edward and the
people don t say anything but then when Buckingham gets Richard to stand between two
churchmen the people begin to want Richard to become king. Richard wants to have more power
than Buckingham an exmple of this would be when Richard says I will not yield to you . Which
means I will not do what you want me to do. Richard and Buckingham both try to manipulate each

  • 2. Environmental Science Essay SCIE210 Unit 5 Individual Project Sandra Allen American Intercontinental University May 27, 2012 From the beginning of time, there has always been wildlife. The animals and plants of our wildlife contribute to what makes this life so interesting. If all wildlife were to go extinct, then we would not have a way to replenish the oxygen to survive off of. All animals and plants are a part of our lifecycle and should be respected as such. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was put in place to protect threatened and endangered animals and plants. There are two agencies that equip this program, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This act was dated official ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Endangered Species Preservation Act of 1966 authorized the Secretary of Interior to spend $15 million per year to purchase habitats for the species on the endangered list. This act also required protection of these species on federal land. All land belonging to the public that was not government was not required but were encouraged to. Many benefits have come from these law acts that have been set in place. Recovery plans have been put into place to help our animals and plants replenish. While doing this, exemptions can and do occur. If there is a project to be done within a habitat of a listed species, then the ESA must notify the FWS and National Marine Fisheries Service. Once listed species reached a level of stable existence again, they were delisted. As of 2011, fifty one species had been delisted. Any kind of harming, wounding, or killing is considered to be a violation. Violations of these laws have a variety of penalties. The maximum fine is up to $50,000 or a year of imprisonment, possibly both. I do absolutely believe this law has improved our societies and environments due to helping original life to be sustained. These animals and plants were created to be on this earth. They did not choose to be here and did not choose to be killed for human pleasure. This law has given these listed species another chance. • 3. The Declaration Of The Rights Of Man And The Citizen Analysis By reading the Encyclopedie and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, one can understand that there were many problems concerning people during that time, such as the creation of a just government as well as the responsibility of a father. Firstly, the author in the Encyclopedie put forth his belief of a just government, in which the rights of the people would be preserved. In other words, this could also show the people s fear at the time of a creation of a tyranny or a government which was regulated for the benefit of those who governed only. Moreover, the author argued against other writers saying that their reason for one to oblige to follow the unjust laws of the government because they were born the subject of their fathers ... • 4. What Is The Broken Window Theory James Q. Wilson and George Kelling in 1982 developed the idea of the Broken Windows Theory. The Broken Windows theory was the first study linking minor crime being left unattended to growing into serious crime. That crime originated from disorder. Wilson and Kelling argued by eliminating disorder, serious crimewill decrease. The types of disorders are explained in further depth. The first type of disorder is physical disorder. Examples of physical disorder is but not limited to vacant buildings, broken windows, abandoned vehicles, and vacant lots filled with trash. The second type of disorder is defined by noise, hostile panhandlers and young adults gathering in groups on corners. These forms of disorder make the community appear unsafe ... • 5. Essay On The Middle Passage There are not very many detailed accounts from people who have experienced the Middle Passage firsthand. One of those is the autobiography The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano (1789) written by Olaudah Equiano. In this chilling book, he describes the awful conditions he was faced with while on a ship across the Atlantic as a slave from West Africato the West Indies, known as the Middle Passage. The Middle Passage was a horrible way to transport slaves and there was no regard for human life on these ships. Millions of West Africans experienced these horrors for more than three hundred years (1500 1860) (Berlin 1). It has also been estimated by Curtin, a historian, that of those 20 to 30 million Africans only 9 to 12 million survived the voyage (Guillaume 1). This voyage... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although not all of them agreed, it took quite some time for anyone to speak out. Around the 1830s, abolitionists came out to the public, at least in the North. As Guillaume describes the slave trade: It is a phenomenon that forever changed life on both sides of the Atlantic. It established the socio economic and cultural foundations for what would become the United States, and it continues to determine how we value or disdain African Americans and other people in this hemisphere (Guillaume 1). Colonists started to realize they could get free labor if Africans were shipped over to them to do the rough work none of them wanted to do. Like working on sugar, tobacco, cotton plantations, and many other types of hard labor, the kind people think of immigrants doing in America to this day. They also helped in the process of mining gold and silver but reaped none of the benefits. This also helped develop the idea of the single world which connected Europe, West Africa, North and South America, and the CaribbeanIslands mostly (Lovejoy, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Much Ado About Nothing Tragedy Tragicomedies, a type of writing or play, has been around for thousands of years. Much Ado About Nothing, a drama written by playwright William Shakespeare, exemplifies compelling characteristics that show up in tragicomedies. A few of the work s character s, such as Hero, Beatrice, Benedick, Dogberry, Don Pedro, and Claudio, provide multiple examples of what a tragicomedy has to offer. Shakespeare s dramaMuch Ado About Nothingis both a comedy and a tragedy due to Dogberry s monologue, Hero s exposure of her unfaithfulness, and Beatrice and Benedick s love. For instance, Dogberry s monologue about Conrad s claim he is an ass provides a situation of comedy. Dogberry, a constable who watches over the city of Messina, was the first to discover... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the two future lovers were tricked into falling for each other, Hero was accused of her unfaithfulness to Claudio by being around another man. Beatrice later said to Benedick Kill Claudio...Not for the wide world. You kill me to deny it. Farewell (Act 4, Scene 1, 74). In her eyes, Beatrice believes that Hero would do no such thing as cheat on her future husband, and that Claudio must be murdered for his treason of calling her out in front of the crowd on the most important day of her life. The idea of a possible death to a main character created a sense of panic to readers and the thought of lifetime friends fighting to the death seems extremely inhumane. On the other hand, once the conflict is resolved and Don John is found guilty of the entire scheme, Beatrice and Benedick begin to joke about their love with each other and try to hide it from the outside world by stating Do not you love me? Troth no, no more than reason... (Act 5, Scene 4, 101). Hero then pulls out Beatrice s halting sonnet (Act 5, Scene 4, 101) that is writ in my cousin s name (Act 5, Scene 4, 101), and Benedick and Beatrice s love is proven to the world. By mixing some tragic and comedic flares into one scene, the understanding of the work is brought out and imagery is present to paint a vivid image in any reader s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. 4.0 Student Essay Simplifying Expressions While working on this problem I learned a lot about basic properties of addition and multiplication, such as distributive property, inverse property, commutative properties, etc. What s common about these problems is the order in which we are going to do the steps. The first step will always be to remove the parenthesis, which uses the distributive property. Second will always be combining like terms and adding related coefficients what we have been working on this week which is dealing with real numbers. Here is the solution to the first problem: 2a(a 5)+ 4(a 5) =2aa+2a( 5)+4a 4в‹…5 =2a^2 10a+4a 20 =2a^2 6a 20 The steps used to simplify this equation are as follows: First I remove all of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although I still have parentheses in the equation, they are only there to emphasize the negative numbers. 20.05(0.3m+35n) 0.8( 0.09n 22m) =0.05в‹…0.3m+0.05в‹…35n 0.8в‹…( 0.09n) 0.8в‹…( 22m) The second step is to figure out the correct coefficients: 0.05в‹…0.3m+0.05в‹…35n 0.8в‹…( 0.09n) 0.8в‹…( 22m)=0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m The final step is to find the like terms and then combine them to obtain the simplified form: 0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m=17.615m+1.822n The expression is now fully simplified to 17.615m+1.822n In all three problems in this problem set, I learned how to simplify algebraic expressions using distributive property and commutative property. In the second problem I used the inverse property of addition. I noticed that the third problem was different from the first and second problems, in that in the third problem there were no integer numbers. This whole section is about real numbers so this problem set teaches us how to operate using both integer and non integer real

  • 10. The Arduous Journey Of Discovering Antonio s Destiny I decided that The Arduous Journey to Discovering Antonio s Destiny is a decent, exceptional title for my paper, because it gives a brief description on what my paper will be about, Antonio s expedition on finding his destiny. 1 ВЅ ) When reading over the assignment rubric, I noticed a few errors. One being in question number 1, where it says, How are Samuel, Antonio, and Cico different? . Instead of saying are you would say is. Is is singular while are is plural, and since it s talking about each individual, it would make it singular. 2) Antonio and Cico just saw a golden carp, which is a pagan god according to Samuel. Witnessing it strongly impacted Antonio, since actually seeing it was as splendid and impressive as the Catholic God. Previously observing Ultima s magic and just the thought of the carp really shows to Tony that there is more to life than what he s been taught from church and his mother. After confronting the carp, Antonio realizes that Ultima was able to do things his Catholic god couldn t, revealing that he would never be fulfilled by his Catholic faith. His friends Samuel and Cico are all different from each other. Antonio is a Catholic, Samuel tells Antonio about the carp, and Cico believes in many gods, like the golden carp, and shows it Antonio. 3) In the setting of the novel, it seemed as if the boys and girls were separated in a way, because the girls had to stay confined indoors while the boys had to go outside, even in the ... • 11. The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our morals: Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue Ethics. These four theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and how one should handle any situation. There are many strengths and weaknesses of each view. The goal is to determine which theory is the best by exploring real world situations and questioning the claims that just don t work out. RELATIVISM ETHICS There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and Subjectivism. Cultural Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that the individual person decides what is right and wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall relativistic view. First, the positive: Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is not likely to discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from the surrounding people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many aspects of the world. Although this might sound like a perfect world for everyone to be tolerant and understanding of one another, there are many flaws to this theory. One flaw is that with this way of thinking, justice cannot exist. If someone committed murder, they cannot be punished because they believe murder is right, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Macau s gaming industry is void of frequent price wars, proliferation of new products, intense advertising campaigns, and high cost competitive actions and reactions (Peng, 2014, p. 35), indicative of a low degree of rivalry among competitors. In the future as Macau attracts more, the industry s profitability may be susceptible to decline because of the following characteristics: rising number of firms in the industry, rivals are similar in size, influence, and product offerings, capacity is added in large increments, and high exit costs. (Peng, 2014, p. 37) New casino projects are already popping up in the nearby region and looking to attract high rollers away from Macau. This particular market segment has been an integral part of Macau s growth and currently accounts for 60 65% of the revenues of its largest casinos (The Economist, 2013). As Chinese leaders attempt to zero in on leadership corruption, high rollers seek alternatives to the restricted Macau. 1.2 Threat of Potential Entry In general, scarcity is one of the factors driving the SAR s success in the gaming industry. Firstly, the Macanese government is exercising tight control over its concessions by carefully selecting winners and holding them accountable to their obligations. The two advantages of using this model or classification system ranges from the validity of an assessment used by clinicians and other health care professionals. Build around the concepts and purposes for the DSM model is that it supports a number of standard assessments of diagnosing different treatment providers. Furthermore, (Comer, J. 2016) suggest that the DSM 5 requires clinicians to provide both categorical and dimensional information which is part of being consistent in diagnosing. From a categorical perspective this refers to the name of a particular category of a disorder which is indicated on behalf of the client s symptoms. From the dimensional perspective it is a rating of how the client symptoms and the severity of the dysfunction through various dimensions. • 15. The Effects Of Radiation On Tissue And Its Effects On The... Since x rays were discovered in 1895, there have been several improvements made to diagnostic x ray to make it safer for both the patient and the radiographer. Some of these improvements include, aluminum filters, protective housing, lead shields/ aprons, and quicker exposure film. These changes have undoubtedly improved the diagnostic radiation process, however both patient and radiographer will still receive some dose of radiation. The effects of radiation on tissue are divided into two types: deterministic and stochastic. A deterministic effect describes ionizing radiation induced damage that occurs once a certain threshold is exceeded and increases in severity the greater the dose.1. (pg2 3) Some of the more extreme deterministic effects that occur with exposure to high amounts of radiation in a short period of time are: Skin Erythema/Necrosis, cataracts, sterility, radiation sickness, and death. Stochastic effects are probabilistic and there is no threshold amount that must be reached. As the amount of exposure increases so does probability of effects. However the amount of exposure does not correspond to the severity of the effects. Some of the stochastic risk can include development of various types of cancer and hereditary defects. It is more difficult to track the long term stochastic effects that occur during chronic low doses exposure because there are other additional factors that must be taken into account. Notes On Phenotypic Plasticity And Local Adaptation Phenotypic Plasticity Phenotypic plasticity is when a genotype of an organism displays different phenotypes due to the conditions of the environment. It is important to understand why different organisms respond differently to changes in the environment and the ways they adapt to these changes. This paper focuses on whether these adaptations are due to either phenotypic plasticity or local adaptation. Since nothing is ever perfect, the paper also concentrates on the constraints of phenotypic plasticity which are divided into two; costs and limits. Costs of phenotypic plasticity would be that which would lead to reduced fitness. In contrast, the limit of plasticity is where the traits produced by plasticity is not at an optimal level. The effects of plasticity in a population is also discussed. Since phenotypic plasticity can be measured at different levels, this paper would focus mainly on the individual phenotypic plasticity. Introduction Environmental adaptation, which occurs when there is a change in the environment leading to modifications that allow the organisms in that environment adapt to those changes over time, can be characterized into two levels; selection and phenotypic plasticity. Selection happens when an allele is more favorable in an environment, its frequency increases over time but when it is unfavorable, its frequency decreases. Contrastingly, if British Sugar raised their prices, Tate and Lyle would not follow suit. They would keep their prices the same and gain customers from British Sugar. A moment of silence should then be kept to give off your good feeling. This concept teaches the employee how to praise him or herself. A Christmas Carol Analysis Chains composed of links forged from sin, sorrow and seclusion are Ebenezer Scrooge s awaiting fate, unless he can put his pride behind him to gain forgiveness from those he hurt...before it s too late. Scrooge believes that man s business is to make money, which opposes Dickens teachings, in his book A ChristmasCarol. In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickensshows that one s business in life is to commit to charity and helping others, through what Scrooge learns from the Three Spirits lessons. In stave I, Scrooge thinks man s business is making money, which caused him to be the way he is, penurious and lonely. In the following piece of evidence, Scrooge gets into an argument with his nephew. Clearly expressing the fact he very much dislikes Christmas, in this argument, and that it makes no one any richer, so there should be no point to celebrate; especially for someone who is apparently as poor as Fred, his nephew. But, Fred believes there is so much more to Christmas. On page 5, in stave I, Scrooge says to Fred, Whats Christmastime to you but a time for paying bills without money; a time for finding yourself a year older, and not an hour richer... This evidence is relevant, because it shows how Scrooge believes that Christmas is unproductive and ineffective. While Fred believes otherwise, he did not convince his Uncle Scrooge of the true meaning of Christmas, not in this encounter anyway. Still carrying on the argument, Scrooge tells Fred his honest opinion about Christmas. From Scrooge to Fred, ...If I could work my will... every idiot who goes about with Merry Christmas on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart, stave I, page 6. This evidence is essential, because it unmistakably shows Scrooge s true hatred for anyone who carries the Christmas spirit in his presence. Historically, it is widely known that during times of segregation and the slave industry that oppression was common towards African Americans and that white supremacy was prominent. Alice Walker s award winning The Colour Purple (1982) is a narrative, told through the perspective of a poor, uneducated, African Americannamed Celie, who is writing letters to God. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Readers are educated on the double edged sword of being both black and a female. Walker does this by by expressing how gender oppression complicates racial oppression. Black female characters not only had to face slavery and racism but also sexism and abuse, mentally, physically and sexually. This was encountered by both white and black male characters. The black males in the novel are portrayed as cruel, as they live in a world where white men rule and feel like less of a man and because of this they take out their anger and frustration on the black females. Walker starts her novel with Celie s letter describing the brutal rape by her father. Walker writes He just say you gonna do what your mammy wouldn t. First he put his thing up against my hip ... when that hurt I cry. He start to choke me, saying you better shut up and git used to it. (1) In comparison to the white male characters, Celie s father feel as if he has very little worth, therefore taking out his frustration on his daughters. Readers learn that Fonso impregnated Celie twice, disposing of both children, and once he got bored he turned his attention towards Nettie. Celie is also raped daily by Mr.__. He would try to convince her that since they are married she is obligated to have sex with him whenever he wants, but when she wouldn t oblige he would beat her then forcefully rape her. Walker writes Just finish my business, get off and go to sleep. Mr__ also asserts his male dominance by beating her in front of people. Walker writes, He beat me today cause he say I winked at a boy in church. I may have got something in my eye but I didn t wink. I don t even look at mens, I m too scared of them. This quote shows how fearful Celie is of the male character both black and white. She doesn t say i m scared of white men , she openly writes of her fear of all men. Flannery O Connor is a Christian writer, and her work is message oriented, yet she is far too brilliant a stylist to tip her hand; like all good writers, crass didacticism is abhorrent to her. Very often, the grotesque elements of O Connor s stories are balanced out by anagogical ones. Both stories varied in details. The number of children changed and the story of the woman changes. The ballad is more straight to the point and conveys the message quickly in contrast to The Demon Lover in which the story is more descriptive and is left to deeper ... • 51. Heat Resistance of Endospores of Bacillus Pumilus Heat resistance of endospores of Bacillus pumilus Abstract Spore suspension of Bacillus pumilus was inoculated into universal bottles containing sterile distilled water in water baths at temperatures of 85В°C, 90В°C and 95В°C. At specific time intervals, a sample was removed and spread on nutrient agar plates. The number of colonies formed was used to determine the D value and z value. The D value for 85В°C is 64.1 minutes, 25.7 minutes for 90В°C and 8.2 minutes for 95В°C while the z value is 11.2В°C. Introduction Bacterial endospores are very resistant to hostile chemical and physical environments, thus allowing bacteria to lie dormant for extended periods. A few bacterial genera, such as Bacillusand Clostridium are capable of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 52. I Was A New Coach It was one in the morning but I could not stop now, I refreshed the page again, again and again. My leg was involuntarily bouncing and my eyes were burning but I wanted to know badly, it was agonizing. I was on vacation and the results from soccer tryouts, which were a couple weeks ago were going to be posted soon. The elite team I had always been apart of had a new coach, who was renowned for having success. I was so ready to win, and my old team was inadequate. My blinks became longer and I refreshed the page a few more times before I couldn t open my eyes. When I woke up the my family was asleep in the hotel room, it was eerily still. I ran over to the computer, out of battery, I plugged it in and I screamed into my pillow. I checked... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had a mild appreciation for his fatherly worry but rest assured I knew everything would be fine. With that, I got out of the car waved and gave a thumbs up to my Dad and headed towards my new team. The nervousness receded as I saw some old teammates. I set my bag down and waited, standing off to the side of team. Almost too soon the chatter of the group died down and the coach, a small fit man approached us. He told us to run two miles in under fourteen minutes, which was about six laps around the field. So with no further discussion the group set off at a grueling pace, happy to race each other. We ran as a unit and I became comfortable with the rhythm of their thumping feet. I was content that I was able to keep up, considering they had already been practicing for a while. Soon our group was increasingly linear and I found myself unsurprisingly, near the back. My very bones hurt, rattling as my aching legs continued on purely by effort. I desperately sucked in breath but my throat was tight and it was not enough. I tried again, and again but my airway was even smaller. It was as if I was in a raging river, moving downstream quickly helplessly trying to stay afloat, completely out of control. Now I was falling behind the group and I imagined disapproval from the distant foreboding figure of the coach, so I tried harder. I gasped with renewed vigor and with each exhalation I puffed out with extreme effort. Not even after a minute my pace had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Significance of Act 3 Scene 7 to Shakespeare s Richard III Richard iii essay Richard the third is the last play in a cycle of eight plays that Shakespeare wrote to dramatize the history of England between 1398 1485. The plays depict the struggle for the crown and in Richard the third it shows how Richard finally gets to the crown by committing lots of murders but then is toppled by Richmond. In this essay I will explore how significant act 3 scene 7 is to the play. In act 4 scene 3 we find that Buckingham has a conscience when he is asked to kill the princes Buckingham answers give me some little breath, some pause, dear lord . That quote shows how buckinghams conscience needs some time to think about whether he shall kill the princes. I think Buckingham has a problem about killing the princes as they are only young and innocent. Buckingham helps Richard become king as he is promised riches, power and the earldom of Hereford but when he thinks about killing the princes Richard gets angry as he does not want someone who thinks about orders they were given, so Richard does not give Buckingham the reward that he was promised. This makes Buckingham angry so he brings an army to kill Richard but a storm disperses the troops. Buckingham aand Richard need each other to be as strong an example of this would be when Buckingham spreads the rumours about king Edward and the people don t say anything but then when Buckingham gets Richard to stand between two churchmen the people begin to want Richard to become king. Richard wants to have more power than Buckingham an exmple of this would be when Richard says I will not yield to you . Which means I will not do what you want me to do.
