Public Money Should Cut Down Expenses For Space Exploration
Public money should be spent wisely and with regard to the interests of taxpayers. If the developed
technologies will be used in the futrue to earn money for private companies and not citizens, then its
research should be financed with private funds. A private investor uses financial resources much more
efficiently and achieve better results. Proof of this is the activity of Space X, belonging to billionaire
Elon Musk. This company is very active in the field of space flight and space exploration. Even
though some people think that this is extremely important for humanity, governments should cut down
expenses for space exploration because its root cause is behind the curve, there are many other
problems that need to be solved first, and large scale community development is impossible on any
planet but Earth.
The space race has begun in the time of the Cold War in 1955 as the competition between the Soviet
Union and United States. It was about prestige and spying the rival from the space. The Cold Was is
finished, USA and Russian governments inform that there is no reason for a human presence on the
Moon, but they still make giant expenses for space programs. Both countries have many problems that
affect the communities in their daily lives, but their governments have spend billions of dollars every
year on space technology and space exploration. The worst thing is that when some scientific
discoveries and completed studies will make the developed technology profitable,

John Sirica and The Ammidown Murder Essay
When I discovered that my English class had to do a Research Paper, I became horrified. I thought
students only did this when they were finishing graduate school not when they were starting their first
year in college. All I knew about research papers was that there is an overwhelming amount of
research to do. In my efforts to complete this obstacle and not bore myself to sleep with researching, I
wanted to do an interesting topic, but I had no idea where to begin. I spent hours going through a great
number of subjects and people, but once I found topic remotely interesting, I could not find much
information on the Library of Congress website. Therefore, I decided to choose one word that would
hopefully lead me to an interesting topic. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ammidown. This is typically because John Sirica was more important to the United States history due
to his involvement in the Watergate Trails.
I continued searching further into the United States v. Ammidown, when John was Chief Judge for the
United States District Court, by finding sources on the Library of Congress website. At the Manuscript
Division of the Library of Congress there is a collection summary on The Papers of John J. Sirica that
has 123 containers holding 38,000 items. I visited the Manuscript Division at the Library of Congress
on April 4th , 2012. I was able to get hold of his Bench Book and files on the Ammidown case. I took
a few pictures of some of the documents, but the information was overwhelming.
A few weeks later I decided to come back to fully immerse myself into his Bench Book because I felt
like that was the best way to comprehend John Sirica s thoughts and opinions on the case.
Nevertheless, the information within the book was hand written and is difficult to read. I used a
camera to take pictures of the page that related to the case I m researching in the bench book where I
have started on deciphering the handwriting. Yet, the amount of time I have spent on trying to do so
has made me realize that decoding the rest will take more than a while. There were other files

Smallpox Vaccines Essay
The world is full of dangers some seen while others slip right under the radar until it is too late.
According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary a vaccine is, a preparation of killed
microorganisms, living attenuated organisms, or living fully virulent organisms that is administered to
produce or artificially increase immunity to a particular disease. Before the invention of vaccines, the
immune system was left fighting a losing battle against some of mankind s worst enemies, but with
the help of vaccines humans have a tool to strengthen their immune system and fight back against
these unseen killers. Vaccines defeat deadly viruses, strengthen society, and change lives.
Invented by an English physician, Jenner Edwards, in 1796 vaccines have come to defeat many deadly
viruses. Through experimentation and hard work, Jenner created the first vaccine for the deadly
smallpox virus. Jenner spent much of his life researching and experimenting to find a way to beat
smallpox, and in 1796 from the teats of cows Jenner invented the first effective smallpox vaccine.
After infecting children with a small amount of cowpox, Jenner discovered that the children built up
an immunity to the otherwise deadly smallpox virus (Helicon). Before Jenner s invention of vaccines

nations to work together in order to protect their people. Though the first vaccine was invented by an
Englishman, the knowledge was shared with every nation, the French even released British prisoners

country may not be able to cure a sickness, but thanks to society s willingness to work together viruses
such as smallpox and polio are far less

The Importance Of Segregation In Public School
In 1948, a black American, George McLaurin, was accepted to the University of Oklahoma but treated
with much disrespect. He sat in a desk roped off from the others in class, he ate lunch by himself, and
he studied in a separate library. This is just one of the many things that occurred during the time of
separate but equal . Due to the poor conditions in black schools under separate but equal , the main
argument of the NAACP attorneys cases was to end segregation in schools, leading to the Brown v.
Board of Education Supreme Court decision to integrate black and white public schools.
The school conditions for blacks under the separate but equal doctrine were awful. School terms for
blacks were only 6 months, class sizes were large, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This greatly impacted public schools across America and the south prepared for change, protests, and
violence. Governors and lawmakers didn t want to push school changes because the majority of voters
were white (19), North Carolina passed a law making it so that if a school system refused to integrate,
parents had to file an individual lawsuit (20), the governor of Arkansas ordered the National Guard to
prevent nine students from entering Little Rock Central High School (23) and, James Meredith had the
right to attend University of Mississippi but even after the integration, the school remained all white
and they wouldn t let James in (25). Although people reacted to the Supreme Court decision in a vile
way, great things came out of it out of it. By 1972, 90% of schools were integrated and all of these
acts helped lead to the Civil Rights Act which Lyndon Johnson signs and makes segregation

Essay Mending Wall
What is so important about mending a wall? Robert frost a down to earth, phenomenon has used his
supernatural skills to write a poem which may seem to be a simple, ordinary poem, yet what lays
hidden behind the veils may be unraveled. That is the spiritual world that you and me may learn to
understand the philosophical basis of human nature that provokes the human revolution. Believe it or
not this poem was ingeniously devised by Robert Frost to articulately open up a world of ideas that
acumen imagination and its complexities. That is what I will be elaborating on in terms of textual
evidence.
Like many of Frost s poems, mending wall involves a journey. We are introduced to two farmers in an
annual meeting at the wall that separates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like tree felling, sheep shearing and crop harvesting. It is a ritual which has it s own paradox, it
causes two neighbors to cooperate so that the wall which separate them to be sustained. It divides even
their energies at this moment as they keep the wall between them as they walk its line. The definition
of the ritual in strong symbolic terms is a statement of humankind s determination to hang on to all
that divides it. Furthermore in this stanza they fix the wall in springtime, after wintertime, when the
frozen ground swell has done its work of destruction.
Frost feels a sense of mischief, an urge to question deep rooted and unreasoned attitudes. So he
questions his neighbour s motto: why do good fences make good neighbours? He uses the most
elementary of examples: if you had cows you would of course want to wall them in and stop them
from roaming into others properties. But he points out the obvious, simple truth, in the most simple of
language: But here there are no cows. Surely, such a persuasive argument must make his neighbour
rethink his preoccupation that you need walls between you to make good neighbours.
Frost questions the reasons for the wall being built in the first place. He sees a couple of reasons for
building a wall: if there is something you need to keep in or out, build a wall; if some trouble can
result from open spaces, build a wall. Otherwise why have one? He climaxes his argument by

Courage In Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes
Courage
There has always been times where everyone has needed courage, sometimes more often than others,
and I believe that there are three main reasons to be courageous. I read a book full of courageous acts,
called Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, which shares the story about a girl who has scares, making her an
outcast. She meets a boy named Eric who is overweight and both are outcasts and later on, he stays fat
just so she doesn t feel so bad about her scars. It is important to be courageous because it helps make
people creative, more daring, and overall just better people.
Courage can play a big part of making changes in everyday life and over time. In Staying Fat for
Sarah Byrnes, Sarah influences change in page 26. But Sarah Byrnes kept getting up and getting up

It was around this time when Jackson started incorporating the moonwalk, and other dance moves into

Parthenon And Pantheon Research Paper
The Parthenon and Pantheon The Parthenon and Pantheon have many similarities and differences. The
Parthenon was completed in 432 B.C.E. in Athens, Greece. Pantheon was completed in 125 C.E. in
Rome. The first major similarity is that the Parthenon and Pantheon were both built as temples for the
gods and goddesses of their time. The Parthenon was dedicated to the goddess Athena and completed
in 432 B.C.E. The Parthenon was built by Iktinos, Kalikrates. Whereas the Pantheon was dedicated to
all the gods and goddesses of Rome in 126 C.E. The Pantheon was built by Aelius Hadrianus. The
design and structure of both the Pantheon and the Parthenon is where we get a lot of differences with
few similarities. The Parthenon was built on a rectangle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The building became a church and was given to Pope Poniface IV in 609 AD. It was converted to a
Christian church, this saved the Pantheon from being looted and destroyed like the Parthenon. Some
of the Pantheon s marble was given to the British Museum. During the Renaissance, the Pantheon
became a very important burial place. Some buried here are artists Raphael and Anibale Carraccit and
the musician Arcangelo Corelli. In 1832 Greece became independent and gained control of Athens.
The Parthenon became a historical precinct controlled by the Greek government. In 1975 the Greek
government began to restoring Parthenon and made the Committee for Conservation of the Acropolis
Monuments over the Parthenon in 1983, the European Union funds the restoring.. Today the Pantheon
is still used as a church. The Pantheon holds special masses for the Pope like Lent. The Pantheon has
been very influential in architecture since the Renaissance. The Pantheon s influence can still be seen
in numerous buildings today. The Parthenon and Pantheon were in different times but, have many
things in common. Both were built so long ago but still have a major influence on the world today.
Hopefully the Parthenon and the Pantheon on around for future generations to be inspired and

Case Study Of Enron, Worldcam, And Adelphia Communications
This case study was about different accounting company s that were investigated and charged with
making fraudulent documents and records with money. These different company s in this case study
were Enron, WorldCam, and Adelphia Communications (Ferrell, 2009). Enron was founded by former
CEO Kenneth Lay, former CEO Jeffrey Skilling and former CEO Andrew Fastow. Enron was one in
several other major corporations (most famous) accused of dirty dealings (Ferrell, 2009). Enron had
reported 111 billion in 2000. The Corporation collapsed in debt after it had been concealed through a
complex scheme of off balanced sheet partnership called mark to market. Mark to market accounting
is assets that are yet to be obtained based on the current market prices. Mark to market allowed Enron
to record future profits on books as present and ignoring sources of debt boosting the company s
revenue on paper (Ferrell, 2009). Enron Corporation was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy and had
to lay off 4,000 employees and a thousand more lost their retirement savings that had been invested in
Enron stock. Later former chief financial officer Andrew Fastow was sentenced to six years in prison
in exchange for giving prosecutors important information (Ferrell, 2009). Jeffery Skilling was
sentenced to 24 years in prison and was ordered to pay back 45 million in restitution for his part in the
scandal. Kenneth Lay died before he could began serving his 20 30 year sentence in prison (Ferrell,
2009).

Vladek In Maus
Art Spiegelman, the author of the highly acclaimed graphic novel, Maus, portrays the characters in his
book in a very distinctive and potent way. Spiegelman s novel chronicles the life of his father, Vladek,
who is a Holocaust survivor. He uses racial stereotypes to depict each character by his or her
nationality; Jews as mice, Germans as cats, and Poles as pigs. This unique portrayal of the characters
can be attributed to the positive reception that Maus received upon its release. The main character of
the novel, Vladek Spiegelman, has almost two different complex personalities from before the war and
after. Most of the actions young Vladek performs are on behalf of his beloved wife, Anja. Vladek

However, once one delves into Speigelman s character, it becomes very simple to understand how
vital he really is. Moreover, further insight into Speigelman s character facilitates the explanation of
why he designed Maus the way that he did. Very early on in the novel, readers are able to cognize the
burdensome weight the Holocaust placed on Speigelman as a child and even as an adult. Speigelman
is constantly reminded of the horrific events that his parents had to face, even by just being near them,
especially his father. He also feels that he must incessantly compete with Richieu, his ghost brother ,
who passed away before Art was born. All this repressed guilt was finally liberated when he decided
to write Maus in the medium he was most familiar with comics. However, while writing Maus,
Speigelman was acutely aware that genuinely conveying such a story is impossible, even once noting
to Françoise, reality is too complex for comics...so much has to be left out or distorted (Speigelman
16). It is for this reason that Speigelman chose for his novel to convey a story within a story; as well
as depicting Vladek s struggles during the war, Maus also shows Speigelman s troubles with
publishing his book. The underlying reason for publishing Maus, however, is to pay tribute to his
parents, whose graves Speigelman poignantly ends the last

Bruce Dawe The Homecoming Analysis
The concluding line in Bruce Dawe s The Homecoming , complements the respectful and, at times,
resentful tone the speaker adopts. Opening with a comparatively broad statement; they are bringing
them home alludes to the story of the soldiers decent home. Moreover, by utilising the phrase they ,
the anonymity of the soldiers is also augmented, leaving the reader to again question who exactly they
are. Being brought home a place that symbolises love/family, was a nationwide debate at the time of
the Vietnam War. Protests were all over the country, arguing for the return of our soldiers to safety.

Essay on American Politics
Every two to four years, politicians aspire to demonstrate their competency for political office.
Political campaigns and organizations concentrate millions of dollars to undercut and outlast the
opposition. They drag names through the mud, as if it were the next step on the political corporate
ladder. The American people, caught in the middle, are torn between the need for elected officials and
the heartbreak of countless shattered oaths. Consequently, they dissociate themselves from misused
words like Democrat, Republican, and change. They have learned to bite their tongue, drink their beer
and leave well enough alone. That s exactly what the politicians want. In 1933, the political landscape

Sinclair was the author of over forty fictional books. In those books were quotes, from fictional
characters, that Campaigns, Inc. used as Sinclair s own words in the L.A. Times. Campaigns, Inc. didn

dishonesty carries through to today. Now, hiring a political consultant is a requirement and a warning:
we will do whatever it takes to win (Cain 377). Ironically, Leone Baxter once voiced that political
consulting must be in the hands of the most ethical, principle[d] people . . . or else it will erode into
the hands of people who have no regard for the world around them. It could be a very, very destructive
thing (Lepore 59). In America s political history, there has never existed a person, who fits Baxter s
standards. The first five presidents, who helped instigate America s freedom, were still trapped in
monarchy s glamour: They hated monarchial rule, yet desired the appearance of a king. Their periods
of rule was marked with great ideologies, yet blotted with law that was quite contrary. With the
election of the seventh president, Andrew Jackson, George Washington s political party free America
was abandoned. Jackson compared to . . . John Quincy Adams . . . was poorly educated, with rather

What Role Does Dolley Play In Women s Rights
Although women now have many more rights and freedoms than what they used to, it didn t simply
happen over night. Throughout the course of history men have always had a superior role to women in
our society. White Men could own land, earn a wage, get an education, and state their political ideas
much before women ever could. Women have earned their way closer to being equivalent to men by
fighting for a higher position in law, receiving education, and advancing to wage labor in the work
force. Women today can vote, run for office, and have many interactions with politics, but it took a lot
to lead up to this point. Dolley Madison, wife of James Madison, played an important role in women s
political life. Known as the Presidentress , Dolley hosted many female social political parties called
Mrs. Madison s Crush or squeeze . At Mrs. Madison s parties, information was often traded, informal
channels were established, and political access was gained. She was a main asset to her husband and
understood the function of the White House and what it took to have the power of being in presidency.

Gambling
Topic: The down side of gambling
General Purpose: To argue
Specific Purpose: To argue against how gambling should be allowed in all cities because it helps
generate more income, allows for more jobs and helps struggling cities.
Thesis Statement: Gambling should be banned from the United States because it allows people to
spend more than they actually have, it doesn t actually help the unemployment rate and brings more
violence.
Introduction
I. [Attention Getter]: Having money without having to work really hard to get more than you really
have. That would be nice!
II. [Establish Controversy/Justify Topic]: I want to make an argument about gambling effects in cites
A. There are many states that gambling is legal.

III. The third reason is that gambling brings more violence to those areas.
A. In an article by Hjelmeland in the state like Colorado, New Jersey and South Dakota there is a
direct connection between these areas and the crime rates, with the crime rate being the highest in the
state per 10,000 residents. (Hjelmeland 1)
B. The majority of the crime comes because of an increase in tourists which attract for the opportunity
to have more crime against the tourists. (Hjelmeland 1)
Conclusion
I. [Restatment]: In conclusion, we should ban legalizing gambling in all the cities in the United States.
A. First people spend more money than they actually have.
B. Second it doesn t actually help the unemployment rate or the economy.
C. Third gambling brings more violence those areas.

Richard IIi As A Historic Play
Richard III is literarily known as a historic play. This play portrays historical events, such as when the
play opens, Edward IV has become re crowned. This play represents 14 years of events which is
condensed into about 14 days. There are ultimately elements of tragedy and comedy throughout this
play and many of which these elements seem unusual to this documented event in history. The first
factor that is revealed that makes this play not entirely a historic retelling is that Shakespeare makes it
his own. The events are exaggerated and many fictional elements are involved. Curses and other
supernatural elements are mentioned throughout the play. Firstly, curses are represented through
Queen Margaret, old widow of King Henry VI. Her late husband was pushed from the throne by
Richard s family so that Edward IV could be crowned king; Richard also killed her son. Her lonely
mumbles as she sulks around the castle are curses that she sets. In Act 1, Scene 3, Margaret calls on
the power of divine justice and states many things that later come true, some of these include that
King Edward IV should die; Queen Margaret should outlive her children and be made to see a woman
crowned queen; Richard should be betrayed by his friends; Rivers, Dorset and Hastings should die

Justice Kagan Reasonableness
The U.S. Constitution provides equal protection to all citizens, regardless of race, color, or state of
residence. As such, cases of Fourth Amendment violations should yield consistent verdicts across
jurisdictions. The objective reasonableness standard adopted in Heien, however, fails to ensure
uniform application of the Forth Amendment. In contrast, a categorical exclusion of evidence obtained
through a mistake of law would have ensured equal application of the law and excluded inconsistency
in criminal verdicts.
The majority in Heien failed to clarify what exactly constitutes a reasonable mistake, leaving it up to
lower courts to adopt and interpret their own standards of reasonableness, including ones that are more
relaxed than the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, under Justice Kagan s approach, one court may find a statute very hard to interpret, but give
more deference to the facts of the case than another court. For instance, one judge may consider
emergency, lack of time, lack of police resources, or other circumstances in determining whether a
mistake was reasonable. Second, under Justice Kagan s approach, one state may have different
expectations about ambiguity or the level of legal expertise than another, which would lead to
inconsistent verdicts. For instance, a state that sets a higher standard for its police force might have a
higher bar for the reasonableness test than a state that lacks resources or will to supply expert police
force. As such, the Heien approach will result in wide inconsistency across the fifty states, thousands
of U.S. cities, and millions of municipalities. In contrast, a categorical exclusion would completely
avoid inconsistency. Because an officer s mistake of law is black or white either the mistake did or did
not happen accepting the categorical exclusion approach would always yield consistent results. That
is, once a court determines that something is not a law, all police actions based on that provision
would be nullified. As such, the Forth Amendment will apply equally to all citizens regardless of race,
color, state of residence or other social cleavages as provided in the

Essay on America Needs the Exclusionary Rule
The proposition that the exclusionary rule should be abolished is preposterous. There are few rules
that are as useful in protecting the rights of the general public. Unfortunately, there are many who
believe, for a number of reasons, that the exclusionary rule does more harm than good, and that
American society suffers needlessly for the sake of protecting the rights of those who violate its laws.
Opponents of the exclusionary rule perceive its gains to be dubious; its costs overwhelming. This
perception is a flawed overestimation of the results of the rule s principles. The principle in this case is
that the exclusionary rule serves to protect the rights of the accused, and is specifically designed to
create an incentive for police ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there are some that would prefer that we not bother with said protection, and exchange our
personal rights to privacy for a safer society. If only things were that simple. There are several
objections to the exclusionary rule, and some of them effectively point out the shortcomings thereof.
However, none of them separate nor all of them together constitute a valid case for the abolition of the
exclusionary rule.
The first objection is a common sense rationale that the function of the exclusionary rule is to let the
guilty go free on the grounds that the evidence collected against the defendant was done so illegally.
Based on this fact, there are three arguments against the ruling. The first is the utilitarian rationale that
letting guilty people loose on the grounds that the evidence against them was illegally places more
criminals on in society than would otherwise be without the exclusionary rule, thus creating a danger
to society. The second objection based upon this fact is the nonconsequentialist argument that the
exclusionary rule is unfair to those who are legally convicted of crime, considering the fact that others
who possibly commit worse crimes are not incarcerated because they were fortunate enough to be
arrested by a half wit. The third objection based upon this fact is that it hampers the abilities of the
police force to fulfil their obligation to society by restricting their

If there is a special reunion that an individual would like to attend, then they should send an email
their supervisor ahead of time requesting these particular days off from work. Although it is
asynchronous, if the individual does it ahead of time it should not be an issue. There is written
documentation that the individual requested these days ahead of time, why they wanted these days off,
and who will be completing their job while they are gone or all the work will be done ahead of time.
In other words, it includes great detail. 3. If an individual is trying to train a new employee to operate

Writing Is An Important Aspect
Essay Writing Essay writing is an important aspect, not just in the life of the average student, but also
every other person in general. This is because they are not only used by to assess the performance of
students, express ideas or develop creativity, but people regularly in their every day life also use them.
For instance, when writing resumes, in publication agencies such as magazines and newspapers,
writing contracts, journals, and for other reasons. There have been several improvements in my
writing process as I have been able to practice and learn more concerning essay writing. This has
helped to improve upon the basic knowledge I had about the subject, as I used to find it stressful when
writing essays. Writing requires certain processes that enable one to create a good and concise essay,
such as, pre writing, organizing, drafting, revising, and editing (Sims, Chan, and Sethuram 374). These
steps are necessary as they help one to generate ideas, plan the essay, make it easy to comprehend, and
also use time wisely. When organizing the essay, it should have a topic sentence or thesis in the
introduction, a body, and then the conclusion followed by salutations if required. With several
improvements in these areas, I have also been able to work on the grammar aspect of the essay,
including spelling, punctuations, and other areas. This helps make the audience or readers easily
understand the essay. With the help of the Foundations of

E Commerce And Its Impact On Waste Management
According to Pawar and Driva (2000), not every firm is ready to embrace e commerce as it could lead
to serious security, legal and financial problems. Back in early 2000s those hurdles of e commerce
limited the confidence of companies in terms of Internet based business integration (Prasad et al.,
2000). The research by Quayle (2002) revealed that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the UK
would generally focus on waste management rather than adopting e commerce. Moreover, some
critics even predicted an imminent collapse of e commerce (Wallace, 2000). Surprisingly for the
oppositionists, wide use of e business initiatives has proved its impact on waste management with the
adaption of electronic data interchange, electronic catalogue ordering, e mail, mobile telephone, direct
link ups with suppliers According to the research in the lean manufacturing conducted by Toyota
Production System, companies encounter 7 types of waste in their operations: overproduction, defects,
over processing, inventory, transportation, waiting, motion (El Namrouty et al., 2013). Different
business model of ecommerce companies as opposed to brick and motors` enables reduction or
elimination of some of those types of waste (reduced paper transactions, shorter order cycle time and
the subsequent inventory reduction). The changes result in speedy transmission of information,
enhanced supplier/buyer partnership through web communication networks (Gulledge et al., 1998)
and cost savings. Moreover, if

Myasthenia Gravis in Pets and Companion Animals
Every muscle in your body is controlled by your nervous system. The brain sends signals, or impulses
down your spinal column and out through the nervous system controlling the contraction and
relaxation of every muscle in your body, from the ones that control your eyelids to the ones that you
use to walk and jump. The same is true for your pets and companion animals.

Over time, this incomplete or improper contraction of the muscles leads to weakness, prohibiting them
from exercising and being able to stand normally for extended periods of time. Additionally, the
condition can affect the muscles that regulate swallowing correctly and even the muscles that enable
your pet to breathe.
Congenital Versus Acquired Myasthenia Gravis
There are two basic forms of myasthenia gravis congenital and acquired. With the congenital form of
the disease, animals are born with too little of the receptors for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
This type of MG is very rare and has only been found in Smooth haired Fox terriers, Springer
Spaniels, and Jack Russell terriers. The acquired form of the disease is caused by a faulty immune
system and accounts for the overwhelming majority of cases. In acquired MG the affected animal s
immune system generates antibodies that attack the acetylcholine receptors in the animal s muscles.

The American Dream Of Home Ownership
Too many Americans have fallen victim to the crisis that has become the norm for our citizens these
days. Lenders no longer want to work with individuals who have gone through the foreclosure process
and for many it is not only their homes they lose. Some have lost their jobs and/or families, others fall
into a deep depression and worst of all some have taken their own lives. An alternative would be for
lenders to add a true customer service department which is not based on pay or get out, but is
counseling based to keep Americans in the American Dream of home ownership. This would not only
keep their customers for future business with new home loans, but would be noticed by neighbors and
the community who are appreciative their home values are not decreasing. The lenders would counsel
them through the sale by assisting them with getting the most they can for their home. By getting local
community organizations involved to help with home repairs and curb appeal. Once the home is
market ready and a dollar amount has been reached for these repairs the home owner will have to
volunteer time and/or resources to assist another person going through the same situation. This would
not only help the homeowner but will keep homes in the area selling at a fair market value and not
bring down the values in their neighborhood. The assistance provided by the lenders and assistance
from the community will help build their self confidence and make them feel like they are not alone.

Scaffold Of Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Seth Delposen
Mrs. Macacci
Literary critic essay
December 1, 2015
Scaffold s Role in Scarlet Letter
The scaffold, in Puritan times, was where criminals were shamed, ridiculed, and executed by the
community. When they were released from jail, the first place that they went was to the scaffold, to be
shown to the community. In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the scaffold was not only a
place of shame, but it was where character s social status rose and fell throughout the book.
Hester Prynne s world came crashing down atop the scaffold. After spending time in jail for being
pregnant outside of wedlock, she had to face her community, wearing a big scarlet letter across her
bosom. The scarlet letter was the community s punishment for her sin and was their way of trying to
get her to repent. The community forced her to wear the scarlet letter at all times and she was
constantly shunned and abused for it. She wrestled with the decision to leave, and one time even
considered killing Pearl and committing suicide. Also, she sees her husband for the first time in a long
time on top of the scaffold. At the first scaffold scene, it says, Be that as it might, the scaffold of the
pillory was a point of view that revealed to Hester Prynne the entire track along which she had been
treading, since her happy infancy. Standing on that miserable eminence, she saw again her native
village (Hawthorne 88). This not only shows Hester as miserable, but it is the start of

Mexican War
The most dramatic event in the history of relations between Mexico and the United States took place a
century and a half ago. (Document C, Paragraph 1) The Mexican War started in 1846, and ended in
1848. President Polk and Texas agreed that the Texas Mexico border was the Rio Grande River. But
when President James K. Polk heard Mexicans were the first to fire upon Americans at Texas, America
was prepared to go to war. The majority of Congress agreed on the war vote too. In the Senate, the
votes were 40 to 2, and in the House of Representatives it was 174 to 14. Restless spirits, discontented
at home ... joined them .... (Document D, Paragraph 3) Though the Mexicans were the first to start the
war, the Americans had a play in it too. There are many different perspectives on the Mexican War,
and many people wonder if it was reasonable or not. One opinion is that the United States was
unjustified in going to war with Mexico because America robbed Mexico, invaded Mexican territory,
and took advantage of Mexico s offers.
The Mexican War was not justified because America robbed Mexico. The American government acted
like a bandit who came upon a traveler. (Document C, Paragraph 4) America wanted to extend its
territory all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This longing caused the Americans to become greedy for
land, especially that belonged to Mexico. (Background Essay, Paragraph 6) After Texas claimed being

In 2014, Viacom profit margin was 30%, highest in 5 years, whereas the peer group average was 25%.
This higher value of profit margin can be attributed to the increase in the revenue generated from their
media network segment, mainly from advertising and affiliate revenues. There was a significant 20%
increase from international advertising due to acquisition of Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited (UK),
however, the other revenue was driven by news channels, MTV Italy, and improvement in European
markets. Moreover, its affiliate revenue was increased remarkably by $415 million because of higher
fees rate, as well as the benefit of distribution agreements. In contrast to income, Viacom had reduced
their overall expenses by $257 million, however, they had incurred more expenses for their media
network component. Company s media network segment expenses increased by $340 million in
comparison to prior year mainly due to higher operating and selling, general administrative expenses.
This increase in expenses was attributed to their investment in the original content and programming
cost. Distribution expenses were also increased due to higher participations expense and costs from
news channels in international markets. They also spent lot of money in advertising and promotional
expenses to market their original programmes. Overall, Viacom had an outstanding performance in

The Cold War Between East And West From The End Of The...
From 1948 to 1991 countless anti communist films were made, dominating the stage of transnational
politics and geostrategic affairs between East and West from the beginning to the end of the USSR.
The Cold War would impose an atmosphere bursting with tension on the world film production arena.
The main tense issues that prevailed included but were not limited to: Communist expansionism,
American Imperialism, an arms race including a nuclear menace, the subjugation of space, and the
infamous intelligence and counter espionage clash. It is important to note that the skirmishes amongst
these main actors the Unites States and The Soviet Union was not only in the domain of defense and
economy, but also encompassed ideology and culture. The latter was especially mirrored in the
cinema.
From the nonviolent coexistence to the climax and fall of prevalent democracies, and all that is within
cinema has reflected the societal patterns of major periods in history. Furthermore, the media s
evolvement as an effective propaganda machine used mainly for denunciation purposes secured the
box office a chief function in the Cold War. A multitude of films were introduced with varying
dimensions on the same topic. The Iron Curtain (1948) along with The Invasion of The Body
Snatchers (1956) and The Witch Hunt (1994) were amongst films which proliferated during the
period.

The gas giving off from the space shuttles break up the molecules of the ozone layer (Rastogi, 2009).
Decreasing the molecules that make up the ozone layer has a direct impact of climate change
specifically global warming. The space shuttles and rockets give off the gases into the middle and
upper troposphere of the atmosphere which causes the breakup of the ozone rapidly. Professor Darin
Toohey of CU Boulder s atmospheric and oceanic sciences department who research the relationship
between NASA s space missions and the ozone layer stated, If left unregulated, rocket launches by the

Hitler s Foreign Policy During The World War II
The official start of the Second World War is most commonly linked with the German invasion of
Poland on September 1, 1939. Nevertheless, there are still ongoing disagreements as to whether Adolf
Hitler, the leader of Germany at the time, aspired to spark an extensive world war through his actions
in Eastern Europe. In the years leading up to September 1939, Hitler s foreign policy had become
increasingly dependent on the idea of expansionism. Constructed through Hitler s foreign policy at the
time, there are many historians that view the occupation of Poland as nothing more than an extension
of the two previous successful Nazi annexations of Austria and Czechoslovakia, with Hitler expecting
a coy reaction from the other European countries. Richard Overy and A. J. P. Taylor are among the
historians that believe that the outbreak of war ensuing the Polish invasion, was a direct result of the
underestimations generated by the German government, who were heavily distracted by continuous
issues occurring inside of the Reich. In contrast, some historians including Adam Tooze and Klaus
Hildebrand, view the invasion of Poland as much more than just a trial of expansion. These historians
believe that the invasion was a conscious attempt to draw Europe into a conflict that would catapult
Germany to the top of the European powers by increasing their influence and status throughout the
world. These historians acknowledge that Germany had prominent racial motivations at the time that

Similarities And Differences Between The Giver Book And Movie
The Giver is both best selling book by Lois Lowery and a major motion picture. They are both
centered on the same storyline and character but also have some major differences. The movie (and
the book) takes place in the confines of the community, something that started after the ruin, when all
memories were erased and everyone became equal. (Krule, 2014). The book and the movie and the
book are very different in many ways such as the plot, characters and concepts. The book and movie
are more different than they are similar, although there are a few similarities.
The plot of the book and movie follows a similar story line although there are many minor differences.
In both the book and movie the protagonist, Jonas, is about to go through some major changes. The
Elders of the community are selecting job positions for his class. At the selection ceremony the elders
announce each kid s job positon individually. The elders skip Jonas and move on to the next child.
This part of the story is very similar in the book and the movie, Jonas is selected to be The Receiver of
Memories , his job is to receive all the memories of the past and gain wisdom to help the elders of the
community. Some other main plot points that stay the same are Jonas training. The Giver transmits
memories of things such as color and war and emotions, things that no longer exist in the community.
The final major event is very different between the book and the movie. In the book, after learning
about much of the past, Jonas decides that he needs to leave the community to Elsewhere to release
the memories back to the community. In the movie, however, Jonas decided to leave the community
on a spur of the moment decision with little planning or thought. This is very different from the book
where Jonas escape was carefully planned out. One thing that is the same about Jonas escape is that he
takes Gabriel, a baby that is about to be released (Euthanized). The ending of both the book and movie
are the same, Jonas leaves the community and finds a house in Elsewhere . Neither works give much
closure as to what happens, the movie and book leave the reader to decide how the story ends.
The characters of The Giver are very similar but also

Democracy In J. Allen Smith s The Spirit Of American...
Discussion Democracy flourished in America where it had previously floundered in Europe. As early
as 1907, J. Allen Smith attributed this to the fact that the colonists were more active, enterprising, and
dissatisfied than the typical Englishman, in his work The Spirit of American Government,. He noted
that the Revolutionary War was not sparked by colonists hating the monarchical system, but by the
negative relationship between England and its newest colony. This attitude, coupled with an active
revolution, created the perfect outlet for democratic theory to be expressed and enacted (Smith, 1907;
Thoman, n.d.). In creating an independent nation, the founding fathers looked to various forms of
government, both ancient and modern, for inspiration.

Tattoos And Body Art
There were many different forms of body art that was shown in the documentary. In the culture there
are the bandag s, the markings that they have, and Tattoos and body art painting is an art movement in
its own right. It is getting to the point that having an original tattoo done by a famed tattoo artist is as
coveted as owning an original artwork done by one of the painting masters. People will proudly show
off and boast of their ink as if they are showing a Da Vinci, Picasso or Monet. However, they rarely
brag about its uniqueness or cost; they would rather rattle off the amount of hours it took to complete
and the inspiration and personal meaning behind it.
Due to body art s current popularity, tattoo artists are being likened to the painting masters of the past.
Just like the great artists, tattoo artists and body art painters must have a keen eye for detail, skilled
hands, and incredible vision. It takes incredible precision to paint on a living, breathing human being
compared to painting on an inanimate object such as paper or canvas. Tattooing leaves very little or no
room for error. Moreover, tattoos cannot just be shoved into a closet when they become tiresome to

The cause behind all this was a loophole in Irish tax law. Loophole is when there is inadequacy in law
and set of acts. Apple was permitted in Irish to avoid this law without breaking the law.
Furthermore, in 2013 European commission rules that EU countries were not allowed to offer tax
deals without making the same terms accessible to others, where Irish tax law and Apple were in a
huge problem. Referring to Apple, they generated billions of pounds overseas without paying any tax

Barriers to Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Health promotion has been defined as the process of enabling people to increase control over their
health and to improve it. This process requires personal participation and supportive environments.
For people with disabilities, however, personal participation is often limited by non supportive
environments. Lack of knowledge on how to modify programs to meet specific needs, poor attitudes,
and unfriendly environments often creates insurmountable barriers to participation for many people
with disabilities. While innovative medical technology has increased the life span of individuals with
disabilities, little attention has focused on improving their health span. The reportedly high incidence
of chronic secondary conditions seen in persons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Health disparities refer to differences between groups of people. These differences can affect how
frequently a disease affects a group, how many people get sick, or how often the disease causes death.
Many different populations are affected by disparities. These include
Racial and ethnic minorities
Residents of rural areas
Women, children, the elderly
Persons with disabilities
While better nutritional habits are a major concern for most people with and without disabilities, there
may be some specific differences in diet and nutrition guidelines pertaining to people with specific
types of disabilities. Issues related to accessing healthy foods, determining food interactions with
commonly used medications to control various secondary conditions ( pain, seizures, depression), and
establishing specific requirements for food supplements ( vitamins, minerals, fluid intake) are all
major concerns among people with certain disabilities. For example, people with spinal cord injury
have a higher rate of bone loss after their injury, which increases their risk of osteoporosis. A few
studies on persons with cerebral palsy and Down syndrome have also reported a higher incidence of
osteoporosis. While it is the recommended daily allowance for calcium intake and vitamin D may
need to be increased for certain types of disabilities to offset the rate of bone loss, recommended
guidelines are not available. There are little data

How Does the Scarlet Letter Comment on Religion in...
Religion is the name given to a relationship with God, and different groups of people have different
Gods and belief systems (Terhart Schulze, 2008). Today there are 313 religions and denominations in
the United States; from monotheists who believe in one God, to polytheists who believe in many
Gods, to others who believe in no God, or a God as represented by animal spirits, alien groups, or
psychoactive substances (ProCon.org, 2008). Christianity was the first religion that was brought to the
world by European settlers and it became dominant religion of the United States throughout its
history. Although Puritan practices was accepted under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, both James I

Therefore this essay will describe how the characters, setting and themes in the Scarlet letter comment
on the religion in America by exploring the scene of puritan morality, scaffold and through the
interpretation of the Scarlet Letter A .
According Puritan moral values, one is guilty of adultery if married man or woman had a sexual
relationship with a person who is not their wife or husband. The situation becomes worse when
women bear an illegitimate child and such behavior is considered as one of the sinful acts in the
Puritan society. The protagonist and the bearer of the scarlet letter A signify that Hester Prynne is an
adulterer. Hester was married to an elderly scholar, Roger Chillingworth who sent her ahead to
America to live but never followed her. While waiting for him, she had an affair with a Puritan
minister named Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, after which gave birth to Pearl. Hester giving birth to
Pearl became an attention of that Puritan society and she was humiliated in the public where she
showed her faults to the world without revealing the names of Pearl s father. Mr. Wilson said, Speak
out the name! That, and thy repentance, may avail to take the scarlet letter off thy breast. Never!
replied Hester Prynne. It is too deeply branded. Ye cannot take it off. And would that I might endure
his agony, as well as mine! (Hawthorne, p 58). Unwillingness to reveal the name of Pearl s father by
Hester shows the strength and

`` Everything Rises With Leadership But Falls As A Tragedy

Troy Maxson
Everything rises with leadership but falls as a tragedy, said Alexander the Great, before his Battle of
the Hydaspes, where his army suffered many casualties and marked the end of his military campaign.
In history, there have been many downfalls. A few examples, Marcus Brutus was responsible for the
downfall of Julius Caesar. Fighting a two front war against England and Russian empires led to the
downfall of Napoleon. Many historians call those events tragedies. The word tragedy originates from
the Greek word tragōidia , meaning the goat song, which is not what society associates as a tragedy in
current times.
Today, tragedy is understood as a disastrous event, that involves an enormous loss of life (ex: terrorist
attack, natural disaster, etc.), which gains widespread media attention for public perception and world
understanding. As a literary term, tragedy in a fictional narrative, typically drama involves a sorrowful
event, where a good individual, who through a character flaw and/or conflict with an overwhelming
effect, experiences setbacks of fortune from success to adversity and becomes a tragic individual.
Tragedy usually involves the death of one or more characters (including the tragic individual) caused
by the actions of a tragic individual and/or the villain in the literary work of art. (Aristotle)
August Wilson s Fences is a complex bildungsroman tragedy full of conflicting desires, major

The Beast within Have you ever known or heard of somebody that takes stuff too far? Or perhaps they

over and become savages. Throughout the book Golding molds the boys after society. Golding states
that Humans are savage by nature , and that what empowers the inner savage in people is selfishness,
brutality and wanting dominance over others. He proves this statement by providing an antagonist
who is shellfish, brutal and demands dominance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Flight That Changed My Life
Most people always went through an event that has a great impact on their lives, changing the very
manner in which they view life and perceive it. My story might not outstanding to other people, but
for me, it was a spectacular changed. For years in my life, I would never forget the first time I had my
first flight. My family and I immigrated to a new country that I never thought of. Because of that
flight, my life had changed from one culture to a different culture in just 24 hours on the airplane It
was winter in 2006 when my family and I decided to move out of the country. One week before the
departure date, my mum told me that her, my brother, and I needed to immigrate to the United State of

Importance of Childcare Background Checks
Criminal Background Checks Childcare background checks have always been important for those
hiring people to work particularly with children. But, the recent rise in child related crimes in the past
decade has made this kind of check even more important, not only to people hiring childcare workers,
but for anyone that will be providing care for a child in any way. This includes volunteers working
with children in a public daycare center, church daycare center, home daycare center, and even for
volunteers at summer camp. Parents have become much more protective over their children, and with
good cause (Oliveri, 2008). Organizations that hire employees or volunteers are accountable for their
actions and must make sure, as best they can, that the people representing them can be trusted with
their clients. Employers should be well informed on the risk of failing to conduct screening checks of
potential volunteers or employees, as they may be held legally and morally accountable through
vicarious liability. Vicarious liability makes an organization accountable for the behavior of volunteers
or employees under certain circumstances. It functions on the supposition the organization has
aggravated the risk that harm would take place. It makes sure that organizations take all rational
measures to decrease the risk of harm by using methods such as screening. If they fail to take
reasonable measures to reduce the risk of harm to their clients, an organization (such as a school,

  • 2. Public Money Should Cut Down Expenses For Space Exploration Public money should be spent wisely and with regard to the interests of taxpayers. If the developed technologies will be used in the futrue to earn money for private companies and not citizens, then its research should be financed with private funds. A private investor uses financial resources much more efficiently and achieve better results. Proof of this is the activity of Space X, belonging to billionaire Elon Musk. This company is very active in the field of space flight and space exploration. Even though some people think that this is extremely important for humanity, governments should cut down expenses for space exploration because its root cause is behind the curve, there are many other problems that need to be solved first, and large scale community development is impossible on any planet but Earth. The space race has begun in the time of the Cold War in 1955 as the competition between the Soviet Union and United States. It was about prestige and spying the rival from the space. The Cold Was is finished, USA and Russian governments inform that there is no reason for a human presence on the Moon, but they still make giant expenses for space programs. Both countries have many problems that affect the communities in their daily lives, but their governments have spend billions of dollars every year on space technology and space exploration. The worst thing is that when some scientific discoveries and completed studies will make the developed technology profitable, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. John Sirica and The Ammidown Murder Essay When I discovered that my English class had to do a Research Paper, I became horrified. I thought students only did this when they were finishing graduate school not when they were starting their first year in college. All I knew about research papers was that there is an overwhelming amount of research to do. In my efforts to complete this obstacle and not bore myself to sleep with researching, I wanted to do an interesting topic, but I had no idea where to begin. I spent hours going through a great number of subjects and people, but once I found topic remotely interesting, I could not find much information on the Library of Congress website. Therefore, I decided to choose one word that would hopefully lead me to an interesting topic. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ammidown. This is typically because John Sirica was more important to the United States history due to his involvement in the Watergate Trails. I continued searching further into the United States v. Ammidown, when John was Chief Judge for the United States District Court, by finding sources on the Library of Congress website. At the Manuscript Division of the Library of Congress there is a collection summary on The Papers of John J. Sirica that has 123 containers holding 38,000 items. I visited the Manuscript Division at the Library of Congress on April 4th , 2012. I was able to get hold of his Bench Book and files on the Ammidown case. I took a few pictures of some of the documents, but the information was overwhelming. A few weeks later I decided to come back to fully immerse myself into his Bench Book because I felt like that was the best way to comprehend John Sirica s thoughts and opinions on the case. Nevertheless, the information within the book was hand written and is difficult to read. I used a camera to take pictures of the page that related to the case I m researching in the bench book where I have started on deciphering the handwriting. Yet, the amount of time I have spent on trying to do so has made me realize that decoding the rest will take more than a while. There were other files ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Smallpox Vaccines Essay The world is full of dangers some seen while others slip right under the radar until it is too late. According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary a vaccine is, a preparation of killed microorganisms, living attenuated organisms, or living fully virulent organisms that is administered to produce or artificially increase immunity to a particular disease. Before the invention of vaccines, the immune system was left fighting a losing battle against some of mankind s worst enemies, but with the help of vaccines humans have a tool to strengthen their immune system and fight back against these unseen killers. Vaccines defeat deadly viruses, strengthen society, and change lives. Invented by an English physician, Jenner Edwards, in 1796 vaccines have come to defeat many deadly viruses. Through experimentation and hard work, Jenner created the first vaccine for the deadly smallpox virus. Jenner spent much of his life researching and experimenting to find a way to beat smallpox, and in 1796 from the teats of cows Jenner invented the first effective smallpox vaccine. After infecting children with a small amount of cowpox, Jenner discovered that the children built up an immunity to the otherwise deadly smallpox virus (Helicon). Before Jenner s invention of vaccines disease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The Importance Of Segregation In Public School In 1948, a black American, George McLaurin, was accepted to the University of Oklahoma but treated with much disrespect. He sat in a desk roped off from the others in class, he ate lunch by himself, and he studied in a separate library. This is just one of the many things that occurred during the time of separate but equal . Due to the poor conditions in black schools under separate but equal , the main argument of the NAACP attorneys cases was to end segregation in schools, leading to the Brown v. • 6. Essay Mending Wall What is so important about mending a wall? Robert frost a down to earth, phenomenon has used his supernatural skills to write a poem which may seem to be a simple, ordinary poem, yet what lays hidden behind the veils may be unraveled. That is the spiritual world that you and me may learn to understand the philosophical basis of human nature that provokes the human revolution. Believe it or not this poem was ingeniously devised by Robert Frost to articulately open up a world of ideas that acumen imagination and its complexities. That is what I will be elaborating on in terms of textual evidence. Like many of Frost s poems, mending wall involves a journey. We are introduced to two farmers in an annual meeting at the wall that separates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like tree felling, sheep shearing and crop harvesting. It is a ritual which has it s own paradox, it causes two neighbors to cooperate so that the wall which separate them to be sustained. It divides even their energies at this moment as they keep the wall between them as they walk its line. The definition of the ritual in strong symbolic terms is a statement of humankind s determination to hang on to all that divides it. Furthermore in this stanza they fix the wall in springtime, after wintertime, when the frozen ground swell has done its work of destruction. Frost feels a sense of mischief, an urge to question deep rooted and unreasoned attitudes. So he questions his neighbour s motto: why do good fences make good neighbours? He uses the most elementary of examples: if you had cows you would of course want to wall them in and stop them from roaming into others properties. But he points out the obvious, simple truth, in the most simple of language: But here there are no cows. Surely, such a persuasive argument must make his neighbour rethink his preoccupation that you need walls between you to make good neighbours. Frost questions the reasons for the wall being built in the first place. He sees a couple of reasons for building a wall: if there is something you need to keep in or out, build a wall; if some trouble can result from open spaces, build a wall. Otherwise why have one? He climaxes his argument by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Parthenon was completed in 432 B.C.E. in Athens, Greece. Pantheon was completed in 125 C.E. in Rome. Case Study Of Enron, Worldcam, And Adelphia Communications This case study was about different accounting company s that were investigated and charged with making fraudulent documents and records with money. These different company s in this case study were Enron, WorldCam, and Adelphia Communications (Ferrell, 2009). Enron was founded by former CEO Kenneth Lay, former CEO Jeffrey Skilling and former CEO Andrew Fastow. Enron was one in several other major corporations (most famous) accused of dirty dealings (Ferrell, 2009). Enron had reported 111 billion in 2000. The Corporation collapsed in debt after it had been concealed through a complex scheme of off balanced sheet partnership called mark to market. Mark to market accounting is assets that are yet to be obtained based on the current market prices. Mark to market allowed Enron to record future profits on books as present and ignoring sources of debt boosting the company s revenue on paper (Ferrell, 2009). Enron Corporation was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy and had to lay off 4,000 employees and a thousand more lost their retirement savings that had been invested in Enron stock. Later former chief financial officer Andrew Fastow was sentenced to six years in prison in exchange for giving prosecutors important information (Ferrell, 2009). Jeffery Skilling was sentenced to 24 years in prison and was ordered to pay back 45 million in restitution for his part in the scandal. • 13. Vladek In Maus Art Spiegelman, the author of the highly acclaimed graphic novel, Maus, portrays the characters in his book in a very distinctive and potent way. Spiegelman s novel chronicles the life of his father, Vladek, who is a Holocaust survivor. He uses racial stereotypes to depict each character by his or her nationality; Jews as mice, Germans as cats, and Poles as pigs. This unique portrayal of the characters can be attributed to the positive reception that Maus received upon its release. However, once one delves into Speigelman s character, it becomes very simple to understand how vital he really is. Moreover, further insight into Speigelman s character facilitates the explanation of why he designed Maus the way that he did. Very early on in the novel, readers are able to cognize the burdensome weight the Holocaust placed on Speigelman as a child and even as an adult. Speigelman is constantly reminded of the horrific events that his parents had to face, even by just being near them, especially his father. He also feels that he must incessantly compete with Richieu, his ghost brother , who passed away before Art was born. All this repressed guilt was finally liberated when he decided to write Maus in the medium he was most familiar with comics. However, while writing Maus, Speigelman was acutely aware that genuinely conveying such a story is impossible, even once noting to Françoise, reality is too complex for comics...so much has to be left out or distorted (Speigelman 16). It is for this reason that Speigelman chose for his novel to convey a story within a story; as well as depicting Vladek s struggles during the war, Maus also shows Speigelman s troubles with publishing his book. The underlying reason for publishing Maus, however, is to pay tribute to his parents, whose graves Speigelman poignantly ends the last ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Essay on American Politics Every two to four years, politicians aspire to demonstrate their competency for political office. Political campaigns and organizations concentrate millions of dollars to undercut and outlast the opposition. They drag names through the mud, as if it were the next step on the political corporate ladder. The American people, caught in the middle, are torn between the need for elected officials and the heartbreak of countless shattered oaths. Consequently, they dissociate themselves from misused words like Democrat, Republican, and change. They have learned to bite their tongue, drink their beer and leave well enough alone. That s exactly what the politicians want. In 1933, the political landscape attained a new twist: No single ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ironically, Leone Baxter once voiced that political consulting must be in the hands of the most ethical, principle[d] people . . . or else it will erode into the hands of people who have no regard for the world around them. It could be a very, very destructive thing (Lepore 59). In America s political history, there has never existed a person, who fits Baxter s standards. The first five presidents, who helped instigate America s freedom, were still trapped in monarchy s glamour: They hated monarchial rule, yet desired the appearance of a king. Their periods of rule was marked with great ideologies, yet blotted with law that was quite contrary. Throughout the course of history men have always had a superior role to women in our society. White Men could own land, earn a wage, get an education, and state their political ideas much before women ever could. Women have earned their way closer to being equivalent to men by fighting for a higher position in law, receiving education, and advancing to wage labor in the work force. Women today can vote, run for office, and have many interactions with politics, but it took a lot to lead up to this point. Dolley Madison, wife of James Madison, played an important role in women s political life. Known as the Presidentress , Dolley hosted many female social political parties called Mrs. Madison s Crush or squeeze . At Mrs. Madison s parties, information was often traded, informal channels were established, and political access was gained. • 20. Richard IIi As A Historic Play Richard III is literarily known as a historic play. This play portrays historical events, such as when the play opens, Edward IV has become re crowned. This play represents 14 years of events which is condensed into about 14 days. There are ultimately elements of tragedy and comedy throughout this play and many of which these elements seem unusual to this documented event in history. The first factor that is revealed that makes this play not entirely a historic retelling is that Shakespeare makes it his own. The events are exaggerated and many fictional elements are involved. Curses and other supernatural elements are mentioned throughout the play. Firstly, curses are represented through Queen Margaret, old widow of King Henry VI. Her late husband was pushed from the throne by Richard s family so that Edward IV could be crowned king; Richard also killed her son. Her lonely mumbles as she sulks around the castle are curses that she sets. In Act 1, Scene 3, Margaret calls on the power of divine justice and states many things that later come true, some of these include that King Edward IV should die; Queen Margaret should outlive her children and be made to see a woman crowned queen; Richard should be betrayed by his friends; Rivers, Dorset and Hastings should die young; Richard should have a nightmare filled sleep. There are few rules that are as useful in protecting the rights of the general public. Unfortunately, there are many who believe, for a number of reasons, that the exclusionary rule does more harm than good, and that American society suffers needlessly for the sake of protecting the rights of those who violate its laws. Opponents of the exclusionary rule perceive its gains to be dubious; its costs overwhelming. This perception is a flawed overestimation of the results of the rule s principles. However, none of them separate nor all of them together constitute a valid case for the abolition of the exclusionary rule. The first objection is a common sense rationale that the function of the exclusionary rule is to let the guilty go free on the grounds that the evidence collected against the defendant was done so illegally. Based on this fact, there are three arguments against the ruling. The first is the utilitarian rationale that letting guilty people loose on the grounds that the evidence against them was illegally places more criminals on in society than would otherwise be without the exclusionary rule, thus creating a danger to society. The second objection based upon this fact is the nonconsequentialist argument that the exclusionary rule is unfair to those who are legally convicted of crime, considering the fact that others who possibly commit worse crimes are not incarcerated because they were fortunate enough to be arrested by a half wit. The third objection based upon this fact is that it hampers the abilities of the police force to fulfil their obligation to society by restricting their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. E Commerce And Its Impact On Waste Management According to Pawar and Driva (2000), not every firm is ready to embrace e commerce as it could lead to serious security, legal and financial problems. Back in early 2000s those hurdles of e commerce limited the confidence of companies in terms of Internet based business integration (Prasad et al., 2000). The research by Quayle (2002) revealed that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the UK would generally focus on waste management rather than adopting e commerce. Moreover, some critics even predicted an imminent collapse of e commerce (Wallace, 2000). Surprisingly for the oppositionists, wide use of e business initiatives has proved its impact on waste management with the adaption of electronic data interchange, electronic catalogue ordering, e mail, mobile telephone, direct link ups with suppliers According to the research in the lean manufacturing conducted by Toyota Production System, companies encounter 7 types of waste in their operations: overproduction, defects, over processing, inventory, transportation, waiting, motion (El Namrouty et al., 2013). Different business model of ecommerce companies as opposed to brick and motors` enables reduction or elimination of some of those types of waste (reduced paper transactions, shorter order cycle time and the subsequent inventory reduction). This would not only keep their customers for future business with new home loans, but would be noticed by neighbors and the community who are appreciative their home values are not decreasing. The lenders would counsel them through the sale by assisting them with getting the most they can for their home. By getting local community organizations involved to help with home repairs and curb appeal. Once the home is market ready and a dollar amount has been reached for these repairs the home owner will have to volunteer time and/or resources to assist another person going through the same situation. This would not only help the homeowner but will keep homes in the area selling at a fair market value and not bring down the values in their neighborhood. Scaffold Of Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne Seth Delposen Mrs. Macacci Literary critic essay December 1, 2015 Scaffold s Role in Scarlet Letter The scaffold, in Puritan times, was where criminals were shamed, ridiculed, and executed by the community. When they were released from jail, the first place that they went was to the scaffold, to be shown to the community. In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the scaffold was not only a place of shame, but it was where character s social status rose and fell throughout the book. Hester Prynne s world came crashing down atop the scaffold. After spending time in jail for being pregnant outside of wedlock, she had to face her community, wearing a big scarlet letter across her bosom. The scarlet letter was the community s punishment for her sin and was their way of trying to get her to repent. The community forced her to wear the scarlet letter at all times and she was constantly shunned and abused for it. She wrestled with the decision to leave, and one time even considered killing Pearl and committing suicide. Also, she sees her husband for the first time in a long time on top of the scaffold. At the first scaffold scene, it says, Be that as it might, the scaffold of the pillory was a point of view that revealed to Hester Prynne the entire track along which she had been treading, since her happy infancy. Nevertheless, there are still ongoing disagreements as to whether Adolf Hitler, the leader of Germany at the time, aspired to spark an extensive world war through his actions in Eastern Europe. In the years leading up to September 1939, Hitler s foreign policy had become increasingly dependent on the idea of expansionism. Constructed through Hitler s foreign policy at the time, there are many historians that view the occupation of Poland as nothing more than an extension of the two previous successful Nazi annexations of Austria and Czechoslovakia, with Hitler expecting a coy reaction from the other European countries. Richard Overy and A. J. P. Taylor are among the historians that believe that the outbreak of war ensuing the Polish invasion, was a direct result of the underestimations generated by the German government, who were heavily distracted by continuous issues occurring inside of the Reich. They are both centered on the same storyline and character but also have some major differences. The movie (and the book) takes place in the confines of the community, something that started after the ruin, when all memories were erased and everyone became equal. (Krule, 2014). The book and the movie and the book are very different in many ways such as the plot, characters and concepts. The book and movie are more different than they are similar, although there are a few similarities. The plot of the book and movie follows a similar story line although there are many minor differences. In both the book and movie the protagonist, Jonas, is about to go through some major changes. The Elders of the community are selecting job positions for his class. At the selection ceremony the elders announce each kid s job positon individually. The elders skip Jonas and move on to the next child. This part of the story is very similar in the book and the movie, Jonas is selected to be The Receiver of Memories , his job is to receive all the memories of the past and gain wisdom to help the elders of the community. Some other main plot points that stay the same are Jonas training. The Giver transmits memories of things such as color and war and emotions, things that no longer exist in the community. The final major event is very different between the book and the movie. In the book, after learning about much of the past, Jonas decides that he needs to leave the community to Elsewhere to release the memories back to the community. In the movie, however, Jonas decided to leave the community on a spur of the moment decision with little planning or thought. This is very different from the book where Jonas escape was carefully planned out. One thing that is the same about Jonas escape is that he takes Gabriel, a baby that is about to be released (Euthanized). The ending of both the book and movie are the same, Jonas leaves the community and finds a house in Elsewhere . Neither works give much closure as to what happens, the movie and book leave the reader to decide how the story ends. The characters of The Giver are very similar but also ... • 38. Democracy In J. Allen Smith s The Spirit Of American... Discussion Democracy flourished in America where it had previously floundered in Europe. As early as 1907, J. Allen Smith attributed this to the fact that the colonists were more active, enterprising, and dissatisfied than the typical Englishman, in his work The Spirit of American Government,. He noted that the Revolutionary War was not sparked by colonists hating the monarchical system, but by the negative relationship between England and its newest colony. This attitude, coupled with an active revolution, created the perfect outlet for democratic theory to be expressed and enacted (Smith, 1907; Thoman, n.d.). In the culture there are the bandag s, the markings that they have, and Tattoos and body art painting is an art movement in its own right. It is getting to the point that having an original tattoo done by a famed tattoo artist is as coveted as owning an original artwork done by one of the painting masters. People will proudly show off and boast of their ink as if they are showing a Da Vinci, Picasso or Monet. However, they rarely brag about its uniqueness or cost; they would rather rattle off the amount of hours it took to complete and the inspiration and personal meaning behind it. Due to body art s current popularity, tattoo artists are being likened to the painting masters of the past. Just like the great artists, tattoo artists and body art painters must have a keen eye for detail, skilled hands, and incredible vision. It takes incredible precision to paint on a living, breathing human being compared to painting on an inanimate object such as paper or canvas. Tattooing leaves very little or no room for error. Moreover, tattoos cannot just be shoved into a closet when they become tiresome to their owner. Some think that body art painting is not as valid an art form as painting and sculpture, and that body art artists should not be compared to the great painting masters. Nonetheless, they do have one thing in common: a relationship with the subject. Illustrious painters hold a relationship with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According Puritan moral values, one is guilty of adultery if married man or woman had a sexual relationship with a person who is not their wife or husband. The situation becomes worse when women bear an illegitimate child and such behavior is considered as one of the sinful acts in the Puritan society. In history, there have been many downfalls. A few examples, Marcus Brutus was responsible for the downfall of Julius Caesar. Fighting a two front war against England and Russian empires led to the downfall of Napoleon. Many historians call those events tragedies. The word tragedy originates from the Greek word tragōidia , meaning the goat song, which is not what society associates as a tragedy in current times. Today, tragedy is understood as a disastrous event, that involves an enormous loss of life (ex: terrorist attack, natural disaster, etc.), which gains widespread media attention for public perception and world understanding. As a literary term, tragedy in a fictional narrative, typically drama involves a sorrowful event, where a good individual, who through a character flaw and/or conflict with an overwhelming effect, experiences setbacks of fortune from success to adversity and becomes a tragic individual. • 48. Importance of Childcare Background Checks Criminal Background Checks Childcare background checks have always been important for those hiring people to work particularly with children. But, the recent rise in child related crimes in the past decade has made this kind of check even more important, not only to people hiring childcare workers, but for anyone that will be providing care for a child in any way. This includes volunteers working with children in a public daycare center, church daycare center, home daycare center, and even for volunteers at summer camp. Parents have become much more protective over their children, and with good cause (Oliveri, 2008). Organizations that hire employees or volunteers are accountable for their actions and must make sure, as best they can, that the people representing them can be trusted with their clients. Employers should be well informed on the risk of failing to conduct screening checks of potential volunteers or employees, as they may be held legally and morally accountable through vicarious liability. Vicarious liability makes an organization accountable for the behavior of volunteers or employees under certain circumstances. It functions on the supposition the organization has aggravated the risk that harm would take place. It makes sure that organizations take all rational measures to decrease the risk of harm by using methods such as screening. If they fail to take reasonable measures to reduce the risk of harm to their clients, an organization (such as a school, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
