Effects Of Teen Pregnancy On Teens
Every teen has dream about how they want to graduate from high school and then go to college, but
some teens are not willing to take the challenge. Some of these teens want to drop out of high school
and other teens want to keep furthering their education. For some there are obstacle that life throw at
them to be able to accomplish their goals. Earning an education is challenging enough, but when there
is a teen parent trying to finish their education it becomes more difficult than it would be for ordinary
teens. Education has had many impacts on teen parents trying to reach their future goals.
In early years of American history there were many things that happened and one of those things was
when teen pregnancy rates declined. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government has added no regrets to schools, which is a program to give advice to teens about sex
education.
The government has worked many ways to drop the rate of teenage pregnancy. In the 1996 the
government the U.S. congress enacted welfare reform legislation funded a program line no regrets to
promote abstinence only until marriage education (Teenage) this is to help students in schools see that
they should wait to be married to have sex. This program did reduce the rates of teenage pregnancies
and until today many of these programs are in use today. There are government programs that have
been helpful toward reducing teenage pregnancy, but some of the programs are actual schools that are
based on helping the teen parents. As mentioned before abstinence only until marriage (Teenage) is
referred to today s program No Regrets. This programs have been going on in Melba High School and
it s a program that has been around for a while. This programs teach students to wait until they are
married to have sex, but the program also says that if you have sex before you get married you should
protect yourself. You can protect yourself by using condoms and many more products out there that
can help any teenager become a teenage parent. There aren t just programs that can help

Essay about The Road to the American Civil War
The majority of speculations regarding the causes of the American Civil War are in some relation to
slavery. While slavery was a factor in the disagreements that led to the Civil War, it was not the
solitary or primary cause. There were three other, larger causes that contributed more directly to the
beginning of the secession of the southern states and, eventually, the start of the war. Those three
causes included economic and social divergence amongst the North and South, state versus national
rights, and the Supreme Court s ruling in the Dred Scott case. Each of these causes involved slavery in
some way, but were not exclusively based upon slavery. The North and South were forming
completely different economies, and therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The South had some urbanization, in cities such as Atlanta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina.
These cities served as transportation hubs, mainly for the transporting of goods, specifically cotton.
The South would transport cotton to the northern industries to produce finished goods from the cotton.
The transportation hubs and railroad systems existed more often in the North than in the South,
because there were more large cities. Due to the North and South existing with completely diverse
demographics, geographies, and economies they were unable to understand the needs of one another
in reference to the continuation of their thriving economies. With the North becoming more urbanized
and based on industry, its power was also growing. The bulk of politics, transportation, and industry
all existed in the North. The South began forming an opinion that new political decisions were being
made in the North s favor, and threatening the expansion of slavery, which threatened the expansion of
their economic growth. This began with the formation of Henry Clay s Missouri Compromise of 1820,
which let Missouri come into the Union as a slave state, and Maine would come in as a free state. This
established a clear separation, at the southern border of Missouri, between the slave and free states,

Multiculturalism And Media Analysis
While American mainstream media has often been notorious and often ridiculed for being directed
towards specifically white audiences, the rise of populations of color has recently altered the target
audience of media industries. While minorities have made up the population long before, only recently
have industries paid attention to the needs and desires of other non white individuals. Thus, the
panelists featured in Millennials, Multiculturalism and Media: What the Audience Wants /
Convergence expand upon the significance, current methods and improvements needed when
incorporating multiculturalism into American mainstream media.

ambicultural lifestyles have begun to air on television networks. In spite of the progress made so far
for diversity in American media, the panelists still determined several areas where media industries
still have yet to change in order to weaken the power of white dominated media whether that be
redefining historical notions regarding race or limiting the amount of white staff within media outlets.
While the panelists featured in the video all share similar beliefs and arguments for appealing to
multicultural audiences, there are also many other scholarly sources and online articles that point out
similar key issues. Despite the focus on Asian American representation within the articles, the same
arguments are made by the panelists because several other minorities have experienced the same

The Past and Present Views on the Status of Women in...
Introduction
In India, past and present, the status and freedom that are held by women has and is in a constant
decline due to both external and cultural factors that not only causes large panic, but defensive
reactions that negatively affect and hinder the women in their culture.
Many studies conducted, have shown that the influence of other cultures and religions have made an
impression on the ideas of Indian men that have resulted in alterations to certain behaviors, attire,
possession and customs. In the beginning the treatment and views of Indian women was somewhat
degrading and depressing, often called the dark ages . Even in today s modern times, although some
changes have been made the condition and atmosphere of the Indian ... Show more content on

According to research conducted by Kamat (1997), Indian leader Rajaram Mohan Roy, through his
organization Brahmo Samaj was among the first who fought to eliminate Sati. The ritual of sati was
banned by the British Government in 1829 There was also the Purdah System where women were
demanded to wear veils to protect them from invaders from other cultures, but in the process it
hindered the women s freedom. Female infanticide was also a large practice in medieval Indian times.
This is when a female infant was killed as soon as they were born because they were considered a
burden.
Conditions of Indian Women Culture
In addition to these customs there were also other problems that plagued the Indian women such as
malnutrition, poor health, maternal mortality and lack of education. The poor health is generally
stemmed from poor nutrition and the poor nutrition came in many forms and some still exists in India
today. The contributions to malnutrition range anywhere from negligent nursing as an infant for
favoritism to the male sibling, the desire for sons and women getting pregnant at early ages to try and
conceive one when the body was not ready to bear children, and the fact that women eat the least of all
members in the family. The families in India generally arrange most marriages and women have a
severe lack of power in their country. Divorce almost never really happens but

Wood Thrush Populations
The paper explicitly outlined the four key questions, asking (1) Is there evidence that asymmetrical
dispersal and therefore source sink dynamics occur consistently over time between pairs of Wood
Thrush populations? And if so (2), over what distance(s) does this occur? (3) Do identified sources
occur in areas with more habitat than their dependent sinks? And (4), are source sink dynamics
clustered in any particular part of the species range? (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 2)
Identifying key words, in this case posit , helps identify the hypothesis quickly.
We posit that, when dispersal occurs from a source to a sink year after year, there will be a one year
time lagged correlation in abundance between the two populations
(Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 1).
The authors often restate their hypothesis multiple times to clarify to readers the intent of their
research. In other words, a decline in abundance in the source population in one year will result in a
decline in the sink population in the following year, as a smaller source population produces fewer

Nowadays, attackers may use many means and methods to jamming and intercept the data
transmitting in the optical fiber. Ethernet is a medium shared network, the data packets that sending to
any users will also be broadcasted to everyone in the network. These packets contain the address
information of the intended users. At the client side, users will collect their own packets based on the
address information. Therefore, users may easily get the data belong to the others. For the security of
the optical Ethernet, physical security must be considered first. The purpose of physical security is to
ensure the security and performance of the transmitting data on the physical layer, and be able to alert
users when such objects cannot be guaranteed. The meanwhile, the transmitting data on the physical
level need to be further processed. This process is called information security. By processing
information security, the attackers will not be able to read the data even they actually catch the
packets. Information security can be done by encryption. Therefore, physical security and information
security must be done simultaneously. II. ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL SECURITY Optical network
generally use WDM technology. The existing optical components are not perfect, the crosstalk exist

Mental Health History
ntroduction to the History of Mental Illness Before the advent of technology and the scientific age,
sources of mental illness were found to be the workings of demons, spirits, and the supernatural. In
that first century B.C superstition eventually transformed into some of the first early biological
explanations. Hippocrates was the first to theorize that mental illness was a disease of the brain. With
the fall of the Roman empire came the Dark Ages in Europe. The churches of Europe gained massive
influence and doctors were replaced with missionaries and faith healers. With the turmoil of Middle
Ages Europe s epidemics, political unrest, and famines a reversion of demonology was rampant in the
form of witch hunts, lunacy trial, and other barbaric ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there were other ways to ward of mental illness in this innovative society. The Ancient
Egyptians treated mental illness through recreational activities. Such activities were; concerts, dances,
painting, and gardening. The disabled were to engage in activities in order to achieve some
resemblance of normality in their lives, as well as to relive symptoms of their illness such as
erraticness. Knowledge of the human body was also known to this civilization. The advancement of
their technologies included surgeries, and medicine. Through papyri dating back to the sixteenth
century B.C.E , early documents suggest Egyptians were also likely the first to site the brain as the
location of mental functions. Hysteria in women was diagnosed as a biological function of a
wandering uterus fumigation of the vagina was used to recorrect the organ and return it to its original
position. ( INCERT reference)
The early physician and commonly held father of modern medicine Hippocrates was a vocal critic of
demonology. The Physician proposed mental illness stems from natural forces within the body,
principally the brain. If there were disturbances to ones thoughts or actions, the brain was the source
of these abnormalities. The categories classified into three different categories: mania, melancholia,

How To Prevent There s Too Little Torque
A rogue 200 pound truck wheel bounding toward your windshield at a combined speed of over 100
mph is the stuff of nightmares. These highway missiles can freely roll long distances and bound 15
feet into the air. A particularly bad scenario is a truck wheel that bounces over a divider separating the
opposing traffic lanes of an interstate highway. Another, is a wheel off occurring in an urban area,
which endangers pedestrians on sidewalks and people inside buildings next to windows and glass
doors.
The wheel of a semi truck or its trailer can come off when the wheel bearings fail. However, a
common reason is incorrect wheel installation. This happens when the lug nuts are installed with too
little or too much torque. Preventing this problem requires following the correct procedures to the
letter and using torque limiting wrenches (both un powered and air driven types). ... Show more

Bernini Vs Michelangelo Essay
Art has always played an enormous role in history. Historical art has frozen in time events and ways of
life in different time periods so that we may learn and understand how our history has evolved over
hundreds of years. Two well known historical art periods are the Baroque and Surrealist, which
contrast each other significantly in style and are from two different time periods. One such piece of art
from the Baroque time period was the sculpture of David. This sculpture was actually created by two
different artists. Gianlorezo Bernini and Michelangelo s versions of the sculpture of David are very
different in comparison. In Chapter 10, Sayre suggests, Bernini s sculpture of David commissioned by
a nephew of Pope Paul V, appears to be an intentional contrast to Michelangelo s sculpture of the same
subject (Sayre 310). There are many contrasts to the two sculptures portraying the same event. ...

In 1924 Surrealists Manifesto, a French writer, poet, and theorist Andrè Breton credited Freud with
encouraging his own creative endeavor (Sayre 464). Breton was a doctor and used Feud s idea of free
association when treating victims in World War 1. He initially credited the idea of Surrealism as a
literacy movement. Surrealists believed in the idea of new art instead of anti art . Breton and Picasso
argued that Picasso had showed the way to Surrealist art in his Les Demoiselles d Avignon. Picasso
liked the idea of Surrealist art because it offered him new directions and possibilities. This initiative

The Year Of Magical Thinking By Joan Didion
The question that we aimed to answer as a class was: what do women want? The class focused on
themes such as desire, family, community safety, and even more, but I feel that the theme that really
appeared in all of the books and films that we studies was the idea of meaningful work. This is one of
the most important things that women want, or that anyone wants, because it is doing something on a
daily basis that means something to you and means something to somebody else. Meaningful work
presented itself initially in The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion when she discusses in both
the play and the memoir the way that she has created an identity as a writer, as well as the way that
she bonded with her husband through their joint identity as authors. It is also clear in the memoir that
she is writing it in order to understand what she was going through and it is the most important way
that she can cope with the horrific experience. Writing is meaningful work not only because she can
share her craft and her experience to help others, but it her work that makes her who she is. In More of
This World or Maybe Another, we see all of the characters come to and converge in a small
laundromat. This is the point of connection for all of the characters, and it is owned and run by one of
the primary characters. She pours her heart and soul into the laundromat, and she not only makes it a
success, but she makes a place of safety for the people in her community. She works so hard

Synoptical Essay On The Gospel Of John
John s Gospel, unlike the Synoptic Gospels focuses more on eye witness events of Jesus life. John s
passage about Jesus washing his disciples feet is one of the many passages where Jesus teaches his
disciples through demonstration what it truly means to be a disciple. Jesus knows that he is the son of
God, and despite that knowledge, he still gets down on his knees to wash his disciples feet. This
passage shows his profound love for all of his disciples. John s audience at this time was all of the
Christians living between 100 110 CE.
Although the Gospel of John is formally anonymous, with the help of internal and external evidence, a
better understanding of who wrote this text can be achieved. Modern scholars believe that this gospel

It also included two well known ceremonies, the Water Ceremony and Light Ceremony found in
chapters seven and eight, along with the sacrifices of lambs in the Temple during the Passover. In the
Synoptic Gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke, most of events take place in Galilee, whereas in the
Gospel of John more events take place in Jerusalem and Judea. These customs and locations of events
suggest that the audience this Gospel was written for were people who believe in Judaism.4 Despite
these conclusions, some may argue that the Gospel of John was written more for Gentiles since this
Gospel portrays Jews in a more hostile lightning as seen when they reject Jesus.5 For many years,
people have tried to approximate which year the Gospel of John was finished. Many scholars believed
that it was written sometime between 140 170 CE, and many would also agree that John was the last
written of the four Gospels. It is very hard to set a date for this Gospel because of how the theological
nature has developed. However, most scholars believe now that it was

Indirect Clorimetry And Temperature
1. A calorimeter is an instrument that we can use for direct and indirect calorimetry, which can give us
volume measurements of CO2 and O2 that our lungs exhale and inhale during a certain time frame.
Direct calorimetry can be defined as a method where the body gauges the quantity of energy it has
produced and its body rate through direct measurement of the heat that is produced in the body.
Indirect calorimetry can be defined as a method of measuring the body s respiratory gases that will
give us an estimate of the body energy expenditure.

The Happiest Day Of My Life
Is it ok if I m 5 years old and that I was very ignorant (I m much more educated now though...)? This
is memorable because it s the happiest day of my life I had just gotten home from pre School. I gave
my parents a kiss and told them how my day went. Soon after that I told them I was hungry, so they
made some platanos fritos with some well done cow beef. After I ate my food, I went to my room and
fell asleep for about 2 hours.
It was now 3:59 PM, and unfortunately, I woke up to the sound of screaming, but it was not that blood
curdling scream you hear just before someone gets murdered in a movie, it was more of a cheerful
kind of scream. So, I ran down stairs to see what all the commotion was about. I saw my two older
brothers who were at the time 16 and 15 years old and my mom and dad. My father was holding some
sort of cake in his hands. He told me my mother and he had gone to Sam s club to buy a few things.
My brothers told me to go help get the rest of the food out of the van and that s exactly what I didn t
do. You could say I had ADHD at the time and maybe I still do. I say this because I asked a million
questions at the same time and started jumping up and down about 200 to 300 times. Apparently, the
only question they understood out of all the 1million questions was What type of cake is that!? This is

Peer Assistance Programs for Nurses
Substance abuse among health care professionals is an issue that is continually gaining more attention
due to the harmful affects it can have individuals as well as the patients. Substance abuse can greatly
hinder the ability to provide quality care and if left unchecked could lead to serious implications
within the health care facility. There are a significant amount of nurses and health care providers that
deal with substance abuse problems. At one point, it was estimated, that 2 3%, of all nurses were
addicted to drugs (Trinkoff, Storr, 1998). To encourage nurses to seek help, the Texas Peer Assistance

After researching peer assistance programs, it is apparent that they foster several ethical principles.
The most prevalent of these ethical issues include autonomy, beneficence, non malfeasance, and
fidelity. Autonomy refers to a person s right of freedom or the right to make their own choices,
assuming they are mentally competent to do so. An example of this would be the nurses right to seek
help for a substance abuse problem. The nurse has the freedom to choose whether or not to go to
treatment and no one else can force him or her to obtain help. Beneficence is the ability to prevent
harm or promote good within the heath care setting. Non malfeasance is to do no harm and fidelity
states that it is the nurse s job to always practice faithfully. It is these ethical principles that serve as
the backbone for all nursing practice. Nurses are required to abide by these principles as stated by the
rules and regulations set forth by the Texas Board of Nursing and the Nursing Practice Acts. In regard
to this case study, several ethical perspectives by both the patient and the nurse need to be considered.
First of all, when it comes to substance abuse the patient would most likely take the perspective that
the nurse violated the ethical codes of fidelity, beneficence, and non malfeasance. The patient has the
right to receive proper treatment and when a nurse abuses substances,

The Pros And Cons Of Gene Patents
Gene Patents: More Harm Than Good?
Michael Crichton and John E. Calfee explain the factors and outcomes that have come from gene
patents. While Crichton is against these patents, suggesting that patents are a barrier to research and
increase the cost of medical expenses, Calfee refutes these ideas; furthermore, the authors disagree as
to whether genes meet the criteria for a patent to begin with (Crichton, paras. 1 13) (Calfee, paras. 1
6).
Innovation of research for diseases is a key part to their treatment, and Crichton and Calfee disagree
whether patents barrier this research. When an item or idea is patented it means it s owned; therefore
no one else can use it without the owner s permission. Michael Crichton discusses how patents are ...

It is one of the main points that Crichton uses to show that gene patents are unethical. Crichton brings
up breast exams. The exam can be done for $1,000, but because the gene involved is patented, it now
cost $3,000 (Crichton para. 2). In his article he states Couldn t somebody make a cheaper test? Sure,
but the patent holder blocks any competitor s test (Crichton para. 3). Since the gene is patented, the
owner has complete control of pricing making it impossible to make or find a cheaper test. He also
uses the example of Canavan disease. The owner of the gene connected with Canavan s disease began
to require that royalties be paid before tests could be run. Calfee on the other hand discusses the case
about breast exams and states that most patented genes are owned by universities on behalf of
researchers (Calfee para. 2). Calfee suggests that because the patents are mostly owned publically, all
testing can not be inflated and monopolized as believed. He states, The other article concluded that
prices of patented and exclusively licensed tests are not dramatically or consistently higher than those
of tests without a monopoly a very different scenario from that suggested by the Myriad lawsuit

profits are the fundamental objectives for every organization. However, many firms today continue to
invest extensively in business development activities and less on employee productivity. This mindset
ignores the firm s chief asset and its core foundation, its workforce. The fact is employee productivity
can make or break a firm, and a firm staffed with underperforming employees will inevitably fail
regardless of the amount invested into business development. Many firms that do recognize the
importance of employee productivity often invest in improving the corporate culture, but overlook
investing in the right tools that result in increased productivity. Sure, they have the latest coffee maker,
but what they don t have are the technology based tools employees use daily to perform the functions
of their jobs. The goal of this whitepaper is to challenge employers to evaluate the way they currently
use technology and identify if they are aiding or impeding employee productivity. Based on our
experience and research, many firms seem satisfied with using their antiquated systems or the fear of
change and learning a new system is simply too overwhelming. they are simply uncomfortable with
upgrading and learning a new system. The problem with this is that technology is rapidly evolving and
what works today is not necessarily going to work tomorrow. Let s face it, decreased employee

Olympics of International Financial Institution Projects Every year, International Financial Institutions
engage themselves in several projects related to the improvement of the world through financial
means. International Financial Institutions were created after World War II in order to prevent another
worldwide economic cataclysm like the Great Depression that had destabilized Europe and the United

The World Bank has provided technical assistance and direct positive impacts include: (ii) there has
been a significant drop in water connections fees, from US$250 to US$50 per household connection,
plus the adoption of a lifeline social tariff for the first 8 cubic meters of consumption per month; (iii)
the restoration of the financial equilibrium of the urban sector since 2006; and (iv) the implementation
of 160,200 new social household connections (108,000 under Ziga1), including peri urban settlements
and the installation of 711 standpipes (World Bank, 2017). Although there are no related negative
impacts due to the execution of this project, there is still a huge challenge in delivering water to the
population. One of the main issues of this is that the government is centralized and the agency
responsible for managing water infrastructure cannot delegate this responsibility to municipalities.
One way through which the World Bank could have improved this is by instead of giving technical
advice to a central entity, they trained and loaned money to municipalities. Lending money to
municipalities in rural areas would have ensured that even those that are the most far away would have
gotten access to this improvement in infrastructure. The Silver Medalist:

Dance Music and Moral Panic
ME5331ass2 Discuss one of the ideas of the following writers in relation to popular music culture:
Stanley Cohen. You may use a case study approach in your answer. Scholars such as Rietveld suggest
that; The British Culture has a long history in regulating pleasures associated with parties. A fear
seems to exist of the unregulated body that dances and is intoxicated...It is therefore not surprising that
the acid house parties; that heady mix of house n E events in 1998, were followed by various moral
panics. (Rietveld, 1998, pp. 253 4.) The dance music genre that became popularised in the late 1980s

Crass also joined the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) in order to work alongside while

recognising it as a socio political ideal rather than a means to gain further popularity. It can be
theorised that the intention of anarcho punk is to deteriorate government or outside oppression. They
challenge capitalism suggesting that the economic system itself is problematic and simply a way of

societal panic the aforementioned genre of anrcho punk can be used as an example of how a
misunderstood sub culture within a popular music genre can be demonised and seen as the cause of
the moral and socio political problems within society. During the emergence of the punk movement
those involved in the culture were perceived by the media as being dangerous and violent thugs who
threatened the established moral system within civilized societies through lyrical content that directly

Essay on Second Character Role in Hamlet by William...
In many stories, the concept of a secondary character role is often overlooked and deemed irreverent.
However, in the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare and the novel Fifth Business by Robertson
Davies, the secondary characters Horatio and Dunstan Ramsay respectively both play a crucial role in
the fulfillment of Fifth Business . According to Davies, Fifth Business are those roles which, being
neither those of Hero nor Heroine, Confidante nor Villain, but which were nonetheless essential to
bring about the Recognition or the denouement (Davies, Preface). Fifth Business represents a person

Hamlet could theoretically soliloquize the whole play, but it is his conversations with Horatio that
truly reveal what the Prince is really thinking and feeling. For example, insight on Hamlet s troubled
nature is first revealed when Horatio says My lord, I came to see your father s funeral (1.2.176) and
Hamlet sarcastically responds with I prithee, do not mock me, fellow student; / I think it was to see my
mother s wedding (1.2.177 78). Such influence on Hamlet proves that Horatio is valuable in the
interpretation of the recognition and denouncement of Hamlet s inner self. Secondly, Horatio has
proven to be the anchor of reason to the plot; his role as Fifth Business is heavily credited to his
intelligence and rational thinking. From the first scene, Horatio is calm and reasonable, as he is not
afraid to confront and reason with the ghost. He demands it to speak if it knows what the future of
Denmark is:
Speak to me, / If there be any good thing to be done / That may to thee do ease, and grace to me, /
Speak to me, / If thou art pricy to thy country s fate, / O, speak! / Or if thou hast uphoarded in thy ice /
Extorted treasure in the womb of earth, / For which, they say, you spirits oft walk in death, / Speak of
it, stay and speak! (1.1.129 39).
Lastly, Horatio, above all, is Hamlet s only true and loyal friend. As part of their close relationship,
Horatio makes it clear when Hamlet

The Problem With Drugs And Drugs Essay
Denying you have a problem with drugs when the facts demonstrate otherwise is one of the greatest
hindrances to recovery. After all, what is there to recover from if you don t have a problem?
But deep inside you know the truth. It s like the person who drinks a case of beer every day yet denies
being an alcoholic because It s only beer, not the hard stuff. For the opioid addict, similar excuses are
It s only painkillers, not heroin, I only snort, never inject, or My friends use more me.
You have an addiction because opioids control you and adversely affect most every aspect of your life.
Accepting that you are an addict is long overdue.
Let s look at where you are in the scheme of things. Are you wondering if treatment is the right for
you or if this is the right time to do it? Are you seeking treatment because a family member, friend,
employer, or the court is pushing you in that direction? I hope you want to recover for the most
important reason of all you are sick and tired of being on the addiction merry go round and want to
stop using.
Where you are starting from will likely determine how you will finish.
You must be willing to work for change for change to happen. Don t expect sobriety to take hold
unless you are willing to work for it. It s as basic as that. You can probably come up with a thousand
and one excuses why you keep using, but not one is doing you any good because of the negative
consequences you experience from using.

Not Lowering the Drinking Age
Bryan Blejski ENG 101 010 Ms. Abbott 28 July 2011 Not Lowering the Drinking Age Many teenage
deaths in the United States are caused in some way by the influence of alcohol; however, many people
still believe that the legal drinking age should be reduced to eighteen. This issue has been going on for
years, but the law has not been changed since the change to twenty one in 1980. States have become
stricter about preventing under age drinking, but teenagers have no problem getting alcohol. There are
many arguments in favor of changing the drinking age back to eighteen. The facts show that drinking
alcohol is too large of a responsibility for an eighteen year old to handle. In 1980 the government
raised the drinking age to twenty one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In summary, research supports the argument that the drinking age should consider the overall
perception of how successful undeveloped teens could handle alcohol. Those who want to see the
legal drinking age was reduced from twenty one to eighteen often argue that the legal drinking age in
Canada and many European countries are in the middle of adolescence, and argue further that this
lower drinking age has not resulted in the dismantling of the social structure (Heath 28). As some
scientists and social researchers have pointed out, however, drinking habits of young people has
changed considerably in recent years as the influence of American advertising and the availability of
U.S. products has spread (Heath 231). Although the argument that a lower legal drinking age may be
based on data from other countries, we must remember that the culture of alcohol are different in
many of these countries and should not serve as a valid basis for a discussion of American matters.
Once again, science and research should lead to an argument for reducing or increasing the legal
drinking age. Interestingly, on a cultural tone, in relation to the argument against lowering the drinking
age, the fact that younger teens are allowed to drink helped researchers suggest that there is an
increase in binge drinking, which have been associated with a dramatic increase in harmful and fatal.

Causes Of Solar Eclipse
A solar eclipse is a type of eclipse that occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and
the Moon fully or partially blocks the Sun. This can happen only at new moon when the Sun and the
Moon are in conjunction as seen from Earth in an alignment referred to as syzygy. In a total eclipse,
the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon. In partial and annular eclipses, only part of the Sun
is obscured. If the Moon were in a perfectly circular orbit, a little closer to the Earth, and in the same
orbital plane, there would be total solar eclipses every month! However, the Moon s orbit is inclined at
more than 5 degrees to the Earth s orbit around the Sun so its shadow at new moon usually misses
Earth. Earth s orbit is called the ecliptic plane as the Moon s orbit must cross this plane in order for an
eclipse to occur. In addition, the Moon s actual orbit is elliptical, often taking it far enough away from
Earth that its apparent size is not large enough to block the Sun totally. The orbital planes cross each
other at a line of nodes resulting in at least two, and up to five, solar eclipses occurring each year; no
more than two of which can be total eclipses. However, total solar eclipses are rare at any particular
location because totality exists only along a narrow path on the Earth s surface traced by the Moon s
shadow or umbra. An eclipse is a natural phenomenon. Nevertheless, in some ancient and modern
cultures, solar eclipses have been attributed to

The Chicano Movement By Frank Romero
Throughout history, art has helped in different mediums to bring awareness to different issues and
constructive messages to society. The Chicano movement started in the 1960s; the public wanted to
repair social injustice. The Chicano movement encompassed a broad section of issues; from
restoration of lands, to farm workers rights, to enhance education, to voting and political rights. At this
moment many individuals were trying different ways to express their views and one of those ways
was art. In the early years of the Chicano movement, Frank Romero established a reputation as one of
the Chicano art heroes. Through murals Frank Romero expressed his thoughts and embodied a
Chicano identity. His murals would not only connect with Mexicans, but with everyone. In his
painting or art Romero would usually show everyday events in different views, opening the eyes of
the viewer. Romero s art would come out strong. Although Romero gained his fame with his murals,
he is amazing in drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculptures. He is not just a remarkable Chicano
artist, but an astonishing artist around the world.
Frank Romero was born in 1941 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in a culturally mixed,
middle class community and was well into his career when he identified himself as a Latino artist.

to be increasing due in part to our society becoming more health aware.1 The pain begins with
increased tension or stiffness in the muscles of the posterior neck, with varying levels of pain that
begin to spread to other areas of the body over time. The positioning of the head towards protraction,
pushing forward the shoulders, and an increase in spine inclination is the cause of the pain. If this pain

The Development of Christianity in America
As Christianity spread through the Western world, it rarely followed a linear path: different pockets of
faith and doctrine were developed by a variety of peoples in an even greater variety of locales.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Roman Britain and the era of Anglo Saxon migrations. In five
centuries, English religious culture transformed from one of pagan worship to that of leadership in the
Christian world. Controversies included more than merely pagan Christian dynamics; the Christians
were greatly divided, and Christian efforts went through many ebbs before becoming firmly
established. One must evaluate the development of both Rome and England to gain an adequate

Christianity gained a foothold in Britain by the mid second century, but had yet to gain anything
approaching religious supremacy on the island. Early Christian churches were local communal affairs
each board of elders was elected democratically by the community s inhabitants. Early Christians
refused to bow before Roman authority as the Jews had previously done, and many were persecuted as
enemies of the state (quite similar to the Druidic situation in Britain). Rome would tolerate native
religious rites, but would brook no treason. The universality of the empire, however, paved the way
for the universality of Christianity, as Christian missionaries traveled easily along Roman roads on
evangelistic expeditions. As Christianity spread throughout the empire, the Roman government found
Christian refusals to worship Roman gods and participate in Roman festivals increasingly distressing;
Christians endured persecution in the first and second centuries, but on an individualized, local scale.
The third century proved disastrous to the empire: an outbreak of the plague, increasing barbaric
invasions from the north, and fifty years of relentless civil war tarnished the image and reputation of
Rome. Manpower shortages due to plague sharply decreased trade and commerce. Persians

Internal Conflict In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
An internal conflict is defined as a mental struggle arising from opposing demands or impulses. The
struggle can be about the simplest of things, or it could even be about a more extensive and vexatious
complication. In the book, the Lord of the Flies, author William Golding, wrote about a strange, but
unique character named Simon. This character went through many tough experiences and conflicts
between other characters, nature, and even himself. This is occured in Simon because man, is indeed,
inherently evil and malicious. How the author structured this book was significant in a way that it
strongly showed how Simon was behaving and acting. Golding used numerous examples of
symbolism and sophisticated word choice to show that Simon s internal struggle was about either
becoming evil or staying peaceful. The internal struggle within Simon was portrayed through Golding
s substantial use of symbolism. In chapter eight, the author wrote about butterflies around Simon s
spot and how they show an important characteristic of the island which the boys were stranded on. He
wrote, Even the butterflies deserted the open space where the obscene thing grinned and dripped
(Golding, 141). The butterflies around Simon s relaxation area symbolize peace and tranquility. Once,
these butterflies left, his spot was now filled with a sense of darkness and evil. This is showing his
struggle because now something positive around his only place of happiness is gone. Golding was

My Papa Waltz Analysis
In this poem My Papa Waltz by Theodore Roethke, the writer is describing a relationship between a
father and son. The relationship is characterized by a form of dance which is waltzing. This dance was
taught by the father to the son. Throughout the poem, the writer uses aggressive words such as death,
knuckle, buckle, and beat letting it be known that this is not a pleasant poem. This poem is from the
viewpoint of the innocent child that is why it is possible to see the truth in this poem. In the poem, the
child is being hurt by his father. The writer tries to beautify a father hurting his child with a beautiful
dance, the speaker does this to make the beaten readable so he used the waltzing metaphor. You would
think this is a nice moment between a father and his child but instead, it is just a cover up of what s
really going on in this home.
He used the word beat in this line which refers to a musical beat but also physical assault comes to
mind as well. You beat time on my head. They were, in fact, waltzing to music, but he was also getting
beat in the process. The beaten is taken place directly in this scene which is being described by the
son. By now the dance was becoming more physical. It is so much commotion going on with this

accomplish. Greatness can be achieved through military victories, being appointed a high officer,
known as a political figure and considering the lower class citizens. Many leaders strive to reach being
one of the people s greatest leaders, but many fail. However, there is one in particular who was
capable of achieving the position of being known as one of the people s greatest leaders . Marc

Playing a part in many military quests made Marc Antony a great military leader in the eyes of Rome,
and making him known as one of the people s greatest leaders. In the days of Julius Caesar, it was
Marc Antony who was the second most powerful figure in Roman politics. He was a subordinate to
Julius Caesar in the command of his armies and he was an influential figure in Roman politics.
Antonius becomes a tribune of the people, an office with considerable political power; include veto
power over legislation passed by the Senate. With this Marc Antony, being a high political figure, he
served in a tribune, a group designed to represent the rights of lower class Roman citizens. Soon after,
Marc Antony is elected one of the two consuls of Rome; chief officer, this was the highest legal
administrative office in the Roman government. Therefore, Marc Antony was appointed into the
government, making him a high political figure and looked up upon from the lower class citizens of
Rome, this is how Marc Antony achieved being one of the people s greatest leaders. Marc Antony

group to rule Rome, formed to fill the void in government left by Julius Caesar s death. Octavian and
Antonius agreed to a sharing of power. They, along with Lepidus, are designated by the Senate as a
Triumvirate with dictatorial powers for five years. Octavian, Antonius and Lepidus

Essay On YA
How does YA affect teenagers, adults and their brains?
YA or young adult literature is a topic of many controverses today. Everyone is speaking out about
their opinion on YA. In this essay I want to compare two articles, who give a different opinion. We can
make our own conclusions out of that.
Apparently teen fiction characters like Edward Cullen and Harry Potter can affect teenager s brains. At
a conference called: Emergent Adult Adolescent Literature and Culture, scientists, authors and even
parents had come together to discuss the effect YA from the 21st century can have on the brains of
youngsters. Both articles agree that YA literature has changed but this is something literature does
over time. In 1950 s they talked about boys ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teenagers are very vulnerable and from neuroscience we know that the part of the brain responsible
for feelings like fear, anxiety and grief isn t fully developed yet. So, as a teenager dark fiction
amplifies the sense of insecurity. But hold your horses! Maureen Johnson does not agree with this at
all.
While dystopia or dark themes in general, seem like a new theme, it actually isn t. There has been
written about before and she argues that books from classical authors like: Shakespeare, Tolstoy... are
as dark or even more dark than current YA literature. It is true that adolescents feel very vulnerable
and are very sensitive to these darker themes.
But Maureen says that these books help teenagers deal with their feelings and even help them relate to
other people . On twitter a the tag: #YAsaves started trending. With this tag young adults or adults
who read YA started to describe how YA literature about dystopia or dark themes helped them! There
are a lot of teenagers who were relieved to finally find something to relate to, to realise that there can
be light at the end of tunnel or to help them deal with certain situations (death, abuse,

The Fast and Violent Fall of Societies
Societies fall like comets falling to earth; fast and violently. Rome, Samurai in Japan, the civil rights
era, and the society in the novel delirium fell fast and changed everything. A corrupt government,
citizens in poverty, and lack of rights and freedoms all lead to the downfall of great societies.
Some great societies fall because of a corrupt government, and leaders. The government in the society
of Delirium is ruthless and harsh. They have raids where they make sure everyone is valid. While
checking everyone they are strict, harsh, and unforgiving. The regulators the raiders come inside the
citizen s house, tear their walls down, and look for signs of suspicious activity. All laws are suspended
on raid nights. The government is heartless, and will eliminate everything their way without a second
thought. They will kill animals that are barking too loudly, or kick a child looking at them the wrong
way. The government invades anything social because they are afraid everyone will catch the deliria,
love. When they invade, they let dogs loose, club people, and worst of all they enjoy it. The leaders of
the samurai in Japan were harsh like the government in delirium was. Young samurai went for days
without eating, marched barefoot in snow on long journeys, and held stiff postures for hours without
complaining. In order The young man s fencing master used to whack him with a wooden sword

Financial Analysis JET2 Task 3 A1. Capital Structure Recommendation A sound capital structure
needs to be in place for Competition Bikes to maximize its shareholder return and expand. A good
capital structure would ensure adequate funding and future business stability. However, adequate
funding involves capital financing which also has its own risks. If bonds are issued, the company
would have to pay interest on them but if sales projections aren t met, this could have a huge negative
impact on shareholder earnings. Also dividends could be impacted if no shares issued to cover growth
or expansion costs because profits will have to be spread among larger number of shares. To provide a

The total earnings per common stock is $.16 for years 9 13. 2. Discuss capital budget areas that raise
concern. 9% Bonds Income before taxes was hugely lowered because of the significant amount of
interest paid to the bonds. This caused the total income paid for common stock after paying the
income taxes to be the lowest in all structures. Also, these bonds means more debt was added to the
company. The more bonds the greater the amount of debts. For a firm with such amount of debts, will
likely find itself struggling to manage cash flow because of the many payments with interests no
matter how much the income will be. As a result, this option provided the lowest earnings per
common share in years 9 13 of $.103. 50% Preferred stock (5%, $50 par), 50% Common stock This
option provided for zero interest payment on bonds. The company will be able to keep all earnings
before interest in taxes because interest on bonds will be paid. The company will have the most net
income out of all structures which resulted to $.203 for years 9 13 of earnings per common share. It is
the recommended option to consider. 20% 9% Bonds, 80% Common Stock This option is a mixture of
bonds and common stock which provides a much better form of financing the business than having
only bonds. The main reason is because it reduces interest rates to be paid on bonds while increasing

While slavery was a factor in the disagreements that led to the Civil War, it was not the solitary or primary cause. There were three other, larger causes that contributed more directly to the beginning of the secession of the southern states and, eventually, the start of the war. Those three causes included economic and social divergence amongst the North and South, state versus national rights, and the Supreme Court s ruling in the Dred Scott case. Each of these causes involved slavery in some way, but were not exclusively based upon slavery. The North and South were forming completely different economies, and therefore ... The transportation hubs and railroad systems existed more often in the North than in the South, because there were more large cities. Due to the North and South existing with completely diverse demographics, geographies, and economies they were unable to understand the needs of one another in reference to the continuation of their thriving economies. With the North becoming more urbanized and based on industry, its power was also growing. The bulk of politics, transportation, and industry all existed in the North. The South began forming an opinion that new political decisions were being made in the North s favor, and threatening the expansion of slavery, which threatened the expansion of their economic growth. This began with the formation of Henry Clay s Missouri Compromise of 1820, which let Missouri come into the Union as a slave state, and Maine would come in as a free state. Wood Thrush Populations The paper explicitly outlined the four key questions, asking (1) Is there evidence that asymmetrical dispersal and therefore source sink dynamics occur consistently over time between pairs of Wood Thrush populations? And if so (2), over what distance(s) does this occur? (3) Do identified sources occur in areas with more habitat than their dependent sinks? And (4), are source sink dynamics clustered in any particular part of the species range? We posit that, when dispersal occurs from a source to a sink year after year, there will be a one year time lagged correlation in abundance between the two populations (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 1). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nowadays, attackers may use many means and methods to jamming and intercept the data transmitting in the optical fiber. Ethernet is a medium shared network, the data packets that sending to any users will also be broadcasted to everyone in the network. These packets contain the address information of the intended users. At the client side, users will collect their own packets based on the address information. Therefore, users may easily get the data belong to the others. For the security of the optical Ethernet, physical security must be considered first. The purpose of physical security is to ensure the security and performance of the transmitting data on the physical layer, and be able to alert users when such objects cannot be guaranteed. The meanwhile, the transmitting data on the physical level need to be further processed. This process is called information security. By processing information security, the attackers will not be able to read the data even they actually catch the packets. Information security can be done by encryption. Therefore, physical security and information security must be done simultaneously. II. ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL SECURITY Optical network generally use WDM technology. Mental Health History ntroduction to the History of Mental Illness Before the advent of technology and the scientific age, sources of mental illness were found to be the workings of demons, spirits, and the supernatural. In that first century B.C superstition eventually transformed into some of the first early biological explanations. Hippocrates was the first to theorize that mental illness was a disease of the brain. With the fall of the Roman empire came the Dark Ages in Europe. Knowledge of the human body was also known to this civilization. The advancement of their technologies included surgeries, and medicine. These highway missiles can freely roll long distances and bound 15 feet into the air. A particularly bad scenario is a truck wheel that bounces over a divider separating the opposing traffic lanes of an interstate highway. Another, is a wheel off occurring in an urban area, which endangers pedestrians on sidewalks and people inside buildings next to windows and glass doors. The wheel of a semi truck or its trailer can come off when the wheel bearings fail. However, a common reason is incorrect wheel installation. • 11. The Year Of Magical Thinking By Joan Didion The question that we aimed to answer as a class was: what do women want? The class focused on themes such as desire, family, community safety, and even more, but I feel that the theme that really appeared in all of the books and films that we studies was the idea of meaningful work. This is one of the most important things that women want, or that anyone wants, because it is doing something on a daily basis that means something to you and means something to somebody else. Meaningful work presented itself initially in The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion when she discusses in both the play and the memoir the way that she has created an identity as a writer, as well as the way that she bonded with her husband through their joint identity as authors. It is also clear in the memoir that she is writing it in order to understand what she was going through and it is the most important way that she can cope with the horrific experience. Writing is meaningful work not only because she can share her craft and her experience to help others, but it her work that makes her who she is. Autonomy refers to a person s right of freedom or the right to make their own choices, assuming they are mentally competent to do so. An example of this would be the nurses right to seek help for a substance abuse problem. The nurse has the freedom to choose whether or not to go to treatment and no one else can force him or her to obtain help. Beneficence is the ability to prevent harm or promote good within the heath care setting. Non malfeasance is to do no harm and fidelity states that it is the nurse s job to always practice faithfully. It is these ethical principles that serve as the backbone for all nursing practice. After all, what is there to recover from if you don t have a problem? But deep inside you know the truth. For the opioid addict, similar excuses are It s only painkillers, not heroin, I only snort, never inject, or My friends use more me. You have an addiction because opioids control you and adversely affect most every aspect of your life. Accepting that you are an addict is long overdue. Are you seeking treatment because a family member, friend, employer, or the court is pushing you in that direction? Not Lowering the Drinking Age Bryan Blejski ENG 101 010 Ms. Abbott 28 July 2011 Not Lowering the Drinking Age Many teenage deaths in the United States are caused in some way by the influence of alcohol; however, many people still believe that the legal drinking age should be reduced to eighteen. This issue has been going on for years, but the law has not been changed since the change to twenty one in 1980. States have become stricter about preventing under age drinking, but teenagers have no problem getting alcohol. There are many arguments in favor of changing the drinking age back to eighteen. The facts show that drinking alcohol is too large of a responsibility for an eighteen year old to handle. In 1980 the government raised the drinking age to twenty one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In summary, research supports the argument that the drinking age should consider the overall perception of how successful undeveloped teens could handle alcohol. Those who want to see the legal drinking age was reduced from twenty one to eighteen often argue that the legal drinking age in Canada and many European countries are in the middle of adolescence, and argue further that this lower drinking age has not resulted in the dismantling of the social structure (Heath 28). As some scientists and social researchers have pointed out, however, drinking habits of young people has changed considerably in recent years as the influence of American advertising and the availability of U.S. products has spread (Heath 231). Although the argument that a lower legal drinking age may be based on data from other countries, we must remember that the culture of alcohol are different in many of these countries and should not serve as a valid basis for a discussion of American matters. Once again, science and research should lead to an argument for reducing or increasing the legal drinking age. Interestingly, on a cultural tone, in relation to the argument against lowering the drinking age, the fact that younger teens are allowed to drink helped researchers suggest that there is an increase in binge drinking, which have been associated with a dramatic increase in harmful and fatal. accidents, ... • 29. Causes Of Solar Eclipse A solar eclipse is a type of eclipse that occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks the Sun. This can happen only at new moon when the Sun and the Moon are in conjunction as seen from Earth in an alignment referred to as syzygy. In a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon. In partial and annular eclipses, only part of the Sun is obscured. If the Moon were in a perfectly circular orbit, a little closer to the Earth, and in the same orbital plane, there would be total solar eclipses every month! However, the Moon s orbit is inclined at more than 5 degrees to the Earth s orbit around the Sun so its shadow at new moon usually misses Earth. Earth s orbit is called the ecliptic plane as the Moon s orbit must cross this plane in order for an eclipse to occur. In addition, the Moon s actual orbit is elliptical, often taking it far enough away from Earth that its apparent size is not large enough to block the Sun totally. The orbital planes cross each other at a line of nodes resulting in at least two, and up to five, solar eclipses occurring each year; no more than two of which can be total eclipses. However, total solar eclipses are rare at any particular location because totality exists only along a narrow path on the Earth s surface traced by the Moon s shadow or umbra. An eclipse is a natural phenomenon. Nevertheless, in some ancient and modern cultures, solar eclipses have been attributed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Development of Christianity in America As Christianity spread through the Western world, it rarely followed a linear path: different pockets of faith and doctrine were developed by a variety of peoples in an even greater variety of locales. Nowhere is this more evident than in Roman Britain and the era of Anglo Saxon migrations. In five centuries, English religious culture transformed from one of pagan worship to that of leadership in the Christian world. Controversies included more than merely pagan Christian dynamics; the Christians were greatly divided, and Christian efforts went through many ebbs before becoming firmly established. Early Christian churches were local communal affairs each board of elders was elected democratically by the community s inhabitants. Rome would tolerate native religious rites, but would brook no treason. The universality of the empire, however, paved the way for the universality of Christianity, as Christian missionaries traveled easily along Roman roads on evangelistic expeditions. As Christianity spread throughout the empire, the Roman government found Christian refusals to worship Roman gods and participate in Roman festivals increasingly distressing; Christians endured persecution in the first and second centuries, but on an individualized, local scale. The third century proved disastrous to the empire: an outbreak of the plague, increasing barbaric invasions from the north, and fifty years of relentless civil war tarnished the image and reputation of Rome. • 35. Internal Conflict In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding An internal conflict is defined as a mental struggle arising from opposing demands or impulses. The struggle can be about the simplest of things, or it could even be about a more extensive and vexatious complication. In the book, the Lord of the Flies, author William Golding, wrote about a strange, but unique character named Simon. This character went through many tough experiences and conflicts between other characters, nature, and even himself. This is occured in Simon because man, is indeed, inherently evil and malicious. How the author structured this book was significant in a way that it strongly showed how Simon was behaving and acting. Golding used numerous examples of symbolism and sophisticated word choice to show that Simon s internal struggle was about either becoming evil or staying peaceful. The internal struggle within Simon was portrayed through Golding s substantial use of symbolism. In chapter eight, the author wrote about butterflies around Simon s spot and how they show an important characteristic of the island which the boys were stranded on. He wrote, Even the butterflies deserted the open space where the obscene thing grinned and dripped (Golding, 141). The butterflies around Simon s relaxation area symbolize peace and tranquility. Once, these butterflies left, his spot was now filled with a sense of darkness and evil. This is showing his struggle because now something positive around his only place of happiness is gone.
