Buddhism and Ecotourism
Following Mao Zedong s Communist forces victory over the Kuomintang forces of Generalissimo
Chiang Kai shek, Mao declared the founding of the People s Republic of China on October 1, 1949.
(History of PRC) This marked the beginning of the socialist transformation under Mao s rule in which
he planned to unify China and raise the standard of living through the development of China s
infrastructure, industry, healthcare, and education. Mao s two main campaigns during his time in
power were the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution. Through these campaigns he hoped to
purify China s culture by eradicating the landlord ownership system and focusing on class struggle by
implementing a distribution system in favor of poor, landless ... Show more content on

Its market reforms still aren t complete and its per capita income is still much lower than any
advanced country, which has led to China s high inequality. Along with economic issues, the rapid
economic growth has caused multiple other issues. China s main focus has been solely on its
economic aspects for so long that it almost seems as if they have been blind to the environmental
degradation, increasing rural crisis, growing unemployment and poverty, government corruption,
deteriorating public services, as well as escalating social unrests that is and has been occurring for a
while now. Although all of these issues at hand are important, the issue that I will be focusing on is the
massive environmental degradation and how it has been affected by the increases in Buddhist
religious freedom and ecotourism.
In 1949, China s natural forests were nationalized and private forests were collectivized, this gave
state enterprises control over the forests. The main problem that came out of this was that these
enterprises promoted leadership with higher profits from timber production. This caused managers of
companies to try to increase their profits from timber production but wouldn t use any of those profits
for replanting timber resources because they had no incentive to. This led to China s annual forest
volume harvested to be greater than the growth in forest volume, which directly connects to
deforestation. China had

Life Of Pi Response Research Paper
Write a composition based on literature that you have studied in which the significance of characters

God. The novel, Life of Pi by author Yann Martel is a compelling story that follows a young sixteen
year old boy, Piscine (Pi) Molitor Patel, after the cargo ship transporting them to Canada, the
Tsimtsum, sinks without warning, leaving Pi stuck at sea with only an adult Bengal tiger for company.
Martel develops the notion that behavior and being able to read the body language of others may be
the difference between life and death through direct characterization and allegory. Pi s responses to the
behaviors of Richard Parker signify the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

conversing with the Frenchman, the Frenchman displays cannibalistic tendencies and attempts to eats

submissive relationship they had created caused Richard to see Pi as the alpha male, and by extension,
part of his pack. This means that when a member of the pack is attacked, the others will come to the
defense of the harassed member. Pi s treatment of Richard saved his life. The result of Pi s response to
Richard Parker s behavior saved Pi s life numerous times. The peaceful relationship between the two
protagonists helped them both endure 227 days at sea, struggling against all odds. With Pi s prior
knowledge of the body language of animals, he is able to successfully asses his options with the intent

American Cultural Values
When discussing America and its pervasive issue with crime, it is important to note the cultural values
that not only make America but also break it in terms of encouraging criminality and objectivity of
crimes. Furthermore, there are three major cultural values that are held most dear to the American
public: freedom, success, and individualism.
To begin, freedom is at the core of the American culture. In America, freedom can be defined as the
notion that, individuals are guaranteed rights and that those rights can be expanded by the constitution
at any time if needed (Burfeind Westermann, 1991). While in some aspects this cultural value has led
to great advances in individual rights that may not be seen in other nations, it has some down sides
that cause a strain on the American society. For example, because many individuals value freedom and
in particular personal freedom, there is often a disconnect between their definition and reality of
freedom, the governments definition, and of course others. This type of disconnect and road to
eventual criminality can best be represented when discussing one of the major political discussions to
date, Marriage Equality. Some American laws that have passed and were enforced were
unconstitutional at the very nature of their disallowance of American equality for all and citizens who
knew of this used their individual freedom to break this law by practice of civil disobedience.
However, since different sections of American s have

Social Influence of Television Advertisement on Children a...
CHAPTER ONE 1. BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY Social influence is defined as a change in an
individual s thoughts, feelings, attitudes, or behaviors that results from interaction with another
individual or a group of people . Social influence is distinct from conformity, power, and authority.
French and Raven (1959) provided an early formalization of the concept of social influence in their
discussion of the bases of social power. For French and Raven, agents of change included not just
individuals and groups, but also norms and roles. They viewed social influence as the outcome of the
exertion of social power from one of five bases: reward power, coercive power, legitimate power,
expert power, or referent power. A change in reported ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well when a young child sees something like that they can only think but to go try it themselves and
maybe they will have fun and enjoy themselves. Children that are trying smoking are becoming
younger and younger. Smoking has nothing good to offer to children but health problems later on in
life. Television impacts children the most as far as advertising goes. Many children as young as three
years old recognize brand named products and clothing. When these children spend time watching so
much television they cannot help but be influenced by it; and want what they see. These children
become so obsessed with having what they see on television that they continue to hassle their parents
until they get it Some parents may even have trouble keeping up with the amount of money theft child
thinks that they need so they may have the newest products out there. These children that are watching
more television, are going to want more toys seen in advertisements and eat more advertised food than
children who do not watch as much television (Strasburger, 2001). The British Medical Association,
responding to the Government s White Paper of November 2004, recommends an outright ban on
advertising foods to children in the UK (see British

Literary Analysis: The Verdict
People delegate important personal aspects of their lives to professionals, but not without the risks of
unethical behaviors. The word Professional makes one think of wealth and power, which can result in
corruption; winning by any means necessary. In the movie The Verdict, Frank Galvin plays a lawyer
who has reduced himself to being a drunken ambulance chaser (Brown, Harris, Zanuck, amp; Lumet,
1982). He is given an opportunity by his good friend, Mickey Morrisey, to morally redeem himself;
not only as a lawyer, but most importantly a person.

He was compelled to make their wrong right and did so by taking the case to trial. He viewed this as a
way to turn his life and career around by doing what was right, but he discovers quickly that Ed
Concannon was always one step ahead and through many corrosive acts almost derails Frank s case.
The Prince of Darkness Ed Concannon is a distinguished and deceitful lawyer defending the hospital
and doctors Towler and Marks. There would be no one to stand in his way of another victory; he pays
off witnesses and hired Laura Fischer, who sought out Frank romantically to get insight into his
strategies. Laura fell hard for Frank and her deceitful actions became more than she could handle. She
let Ed Concannon know and he said to her:
I m going to tell you something that I learned when I was your age. I had prepared a case and old man
White asked me, How did you do? I said, I did my best. He said, You re not paid to do your best; you
re paid to win! (Mamet, 1982, p. 59)
Ed Concannon viewed his client s as fomites that he could manipulate for profit rather than do what is
right. His approach to law was unethical both morally and professionally, but the most contentious
view of Concannon s ethical behavior was his callous views of justice.

Human Cloning Is Not More Difficult Than Cloning
Human cloning involves removing the nucleus of a human egg and replacing it with the nucleus of an
existing person (Glannon, p. 89). It is the genetic duplication of an existing person (CGS). Identical
twins are a naturally occurring cloning (Science Daily). Several countries worldwide have bans on
human cloning (Kilner). The U.S. government has cut funding for cloning research (Kilner).
Arguments in favor of human cloning point out the benefits of advancing technology, while those
against question the effect it has on human dignity and even the clone itself.
Although the clone has the DNA of the donor, the clone will have epigenetic effects. Epigenetic
disturbances refer to the altered physical structures of the DNA, but not the DNA sequence itself
(Epigenetics). Cloning technology has produced clones of several mammals, including sheep, mice,
goats, and horses (AMA). Cloning humans is technically more difficult than cloning other mammals
(Cloning Fact Sheet). The process is still extremely inefficient and rarely produces viable cells. Those
usable cells are unlikely to survive until birth (AMA). So far, animal cloning research has caused
death and deformities of the clone (Kilner). Dolly, a cloned sheep, aged rapidly and had to be
euthanized at six years old (Glannon, p91). We can assume that human cloning will also have a dismal
failure rate (AMA). It would be considered unethical to attempt to produce human clones due to the
potential physical harm to the cloned child

Parallels In Our World and the World of The Giver
The story in The Giver by Lois Lowry takes place in a community that is not normal. People cannot
see color, it is an offense for somebody to touch others, and the community assigns people jobs and
children. This unnamed community shown through Jonas eye, the main character in this novel, is a
perfect society. There is no war, crime, and hunger. Most readers might take it for granted that the
community in The Giver differs from the real society. However, there are several affinities between
the society in present day and that in this fiction: estrangement of elderly people, suffering of
surrogate mothers, and wanting of euthanasia.
The first similarity is that elderly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Birthmothers never even get to see new children (p. 22). Today, some women decide to become
surrogate mothers of other women s babies because of several reasons, such as sympathy for the
couples who cannot have children of their own or financial reason. However, to carry other women s
children gives surrogate moms great senses of responsibility. They writhe in not only soreness of
body, but also agony of mentality. The psychological pain by giving their babies to other women is
greater than that of body. Thus, some surrogate mothers refuse to give up their babies sometimes.
The third similarity is that some people want to embrace euthanasia in any society. Here is the release
in the community. The release is not a natural death, but the end of life by human being. Nevertheless,
some people want to be released from the community. He made a lovely good bye speech... He was

The Girl Who Drank The Moon
Synopsis The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Regan Barnhill is an intriguing book about a young
girl, named Luna, who becomes enmagicked at a young age. The story starts off in the Protectorate, a
dismal and sorrowful town on the other side of the perilous forest. Every year, come The Day of
Sacrifice, the people of the Protectorate were forced to sacrifice the youngest infant among them to the
evil witch. Moreover, according to centennial stories, if they did not sacrifice a child, the evil witch
would destroy them all with no mercy. However, the supposedly evil witch was not a threat to the
town whatsoever, and was instead a benevolent witch named Xan, who had nothing but good
intentions ahead of her. Xan did not understand why the people of the Protectorate insisted on leaving
a helpless child in the fatal forest every year. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the mother of the sacrificial infant would not hand over her child and instead put up a fight,

people of the Protectorate still got ahold of the infant and imprisoned the fuming, sorrowful mother
because she was considered a madwoman. The town suddenly filled with sorrow and as the people of
the protectorate left the infant in the forest, Xan retrieved the child and started her journey to one of
the Star Cities. As planned, during the journey across the forest, Xan fed the baby copious amounts of
starlight to dwindle the child s hunger. However, one night, while Xan wasn t paying attention, she
accidentally fed the infant strands moonlight, which enmagicked the child. The infant was becoming
powerful and magic ran all throughout her body. Will the child be able to control all the power she is

Reflection Paper On Field Experience
Field Experience Reflection Paper For this field experience my group have taught five different
lessons that has consisted of four different groups of students. This made it difficult to analyze the
different students work, and to know what types of problems each student typically struggles with.
Since we had different students, my group was able to pose similar problems to different students and
it allowed us to get better with our teaching. Since we used similar problems, we were able to practice
our questioning skills and get better after each lesson. Lesson 1: For the first day we only had five to
ten minutes with one student named Lucas and posed the following problem: Sarah has 78 apples. She
needs to put 6 apples in each basket. How many full baskets will she have?his student solved the
problem by writing, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, .... Lucas wrote all the way up to 78 and he was able to
tell us that there would be 13 baskets. That first day, I could have been better at communicating with
Lucas. I should have asked at the beginning, what do know about this problem? What are you trying
to find? Do you have any questions about the problem?. I believe that this would have helped clear up
any confusion that Lucas could have had. We also read the problem out loud, what we should have
done was type it in the chat box and then read it aloud. Big mistake on our part. Overall, Lucas was
able to solve the problem, but we could have done better with communicating to him.

Sol And Aquara Short Story
Sol and Luna lived high in the heavens in their shimmering thrones above Terro, the earth. One day
Luna had a baby. That baby s name was Aquara. She grew up in the heavens and slowly developed an
aching love for Terro. She watched and watched, then as she grew older she decided to move to be

her devoted emotion.. As time went on Sol realized a problem. He knew that he needed to have a place
for beings to live. He couldn t put beings on Terro, for he was covered in Aquara s long draping navy
blue cloak. Sol knew that the only way was to split them apart. One day Sol reached down to Terro
and Aquara, and split them apart and placed them side by side. Terro understood and thanked Sol for
letting them still be close. Aquara on the other hand, was agonized. Sol placed all the animals down to
Terro. He nurtured and nourished them as Aquara sat in silence. Finally she broke down.
Anger and outrage struck her. Who is he to tell me what I can do?
Her body started shaking, her legs trembling, her eyes changed from a royal blue to a smoldering red.

The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Autism
Individuals with autism are often described in terms of the impairments, challenges and difficulties
that affect them. When people hear the word autism , most of them automatically think of impaired
communication and social interaction, of repetitive and often challenging behaviour. Others might
think of sensory issues, echolalia, narrow range of interests and the lack of empathy, as well as weak
central coherence and impairment of the theory of mind. The list can go on. The fact is, that one will
almost certainly think of challenges and deficits rather than strengths when the word autism is
mentioned. The purpose of this essay is not to try and prove that the strengths of autism outweigh the
challenges that would simply be untrue. The purpose of this essay is to focus on the strengths, rather

two are closely linked together. As systemising is a common characteristic in autism, it can be said
that, in a way, autistic individuals become experts when it comes to distinguishing and recognising
repetitive patterns in various stimuli. They feel the need to analyse or construct systems which can
only be achieved by systemising, as it helps to explain how a certain system works. There are many
different kinds of systems, the major ones being mechanical, social, numerical, motoric, abstract

Sex Roles Are A Social Construct Society
Sex roles are a social construct society has placed upon the sexes to do things that are within their
nature. For example, a woman, has been seen as a mother, caretaker, housewife, whereas, a man, is
seen as a breadwinner , hunter, and so on. Those depict occupations men and women are labeled to
have. In other terms, sex roles can indicate personality traits. For example, women are seen as gentle,
caring, and emotional. Men are seen as aggressive, brave, and sometimes hostile. Theories have
shown why the sexes are different biologically and how children grow up conforming to society s role
of what is masculine and feminine, or even androgynous.
Researchers in the 1930 s have noticed differences in the responses of men and women pertaining ...

To be masculine is to have those personality traits. In contrast, femininity are traits such as, nurturing,
empathetic, and expressive of emotions. In turn, one can express traits that of masculine and feminine,
being androgynous. For example, I being a female, am not expressive of my emotions and tend to be
assertive at times. That being the social construct of masculine and feminine does not pertain to each
sex anymore. Androgyny is the fact that one can express both traits on the spectrum and not just being
on one side. Overall, sex roles are reinforced by the socialization theory, that explains children are
reinforced to be masculine or feminine. For example, when a boy does an action of out his role, plays
with dolls, he is reinforced by parents or older adult figures that what he is doing does not make him
masculine and take away the doll. In contrast, for girls playing with trucks is seen as not feminine.
Research to support the social role theory found that individuals assigned a supervisor role were more
dominant versus being the supervisee and being submissive. As well as the social learning theory
which states children model behavior of the gender they are associated with. Boys watch their dad
watch sports and fix cars, where as, girls watch their mom cook and clean. More than often, the
parents teach them and want them to model after

Cuiousity and a Sense of Adventure Drove the Atomic Age
The Atomic Age was driven by curiosity and a sense of adventure. As some of the most well thinkers
of the day continued with passion about physics, their self confident in peeling the layers of the
proverbial scientific onion led to severe unintended consequences that dramatically impacted the lives
of billions of people. Moreover, complacency fuelled by arrogance resulted in the betrayal of
compassion and principled action, ultimately leading to the sacrifice of millions to pay the debt of a
few. Atomic energy re invigorated technological and scientific purpose of the early 20th century.
Augmenting knowledge through scientific inquiry motivated researchers and academics to collaborate
in labs and conferences in developing an emerging field. As discoveries dotted the path to scientific
self indulgence, the purported results of the research which was often purely coincidental, was
promoted as yielding untold benefits to society. Medicine would be radically transformed and the
scarcity of energy to fuel engines of economic growth would be a thing of the past (De Groot, Steg
Poortinga, 2013). The marvels of the atomic age, it seemed, would become the Holy Grail that would
breathe renewed life to human progress. Despite leaps in theoretical knowledge, the development of
the Atomic Age also transitioned into a more nefarious pre occupation for some. As successive wars
raged across the Atlantic and consumed much of Europe, the development of a weapon became a
central focus

Abstract:
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is major public health problem. SCD continues to be one of the leading
causes of mortality worldwide, with an annual incidence estimated at 250000 to 300000 in the United
States and with the vast majority occurring in the setting of coronary disease and other cardiac events.
I performed the systematic review of journal article ranging from 2006 to 2016 with appropriate
information related to sudden cardiac death and related consequences, the context of problem and
related solution. SCD is so immediate that detailed study should be performed to understand and to
review in better depth with screening evaluation and permanent treatment.
Objective is to summarize published sudden cardiac death information literature and article with valid
information and to understand extend of issue with available options for solution.
Conclusion: The sudden cardiac death is tragic event to happen. Many research had been published
and new content comes nearly every year, but existing research related to it is weak. Future research
efforts should be directed for developing new policy changes and social aspect of this situation. The

Microscopic Hair Analysis Cases
According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), the FBI, the Innocence Project, and the National
Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), over 90 percent of all microscopic hair analysis
cases performed by scientists working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation have turned up with
erroneous statements. 26 out of 28 analysts provided false testimony or incorrect information was
submitted on laboratory reports during trials (Cates, Dominguez, Kortan, Pierce, 2015). Cases that had
not had mitochondrial DNA in their time have falsely accused and/or wrongfully convicted victims
due to the misinterpretation of data caused by an agent trying to corroborate evidence whether it was
their personal choice or by someone who is of a higher rank. The lab analysts would corroborate
evidence by trying to make certain information fit into trial or by simply trying to pinpoint a crime on
a defendant due to their bias. In each of those cases, an FBI agent lied under ... Show more content on

Many jurisdictions still only rely on microscopic hair analysis and prefer not to use mitochondrial
DNA as a method for testing evidence because it is said to be too expensive and is not thorough
enough. What many people forget is that not one specific method of testing evidence is 100 percent
accurate. There have been errors made in fingerprint identification, bite mark analysis, and in
microscopic hair comparisons, just like the FBI have made. According to a review article done by the
FBI, they have developed and implemented mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) analysis in conjunction
with probative hair analysis because it is the most effective protocol for the forensic examination of
hair, and it provides a more meaningful association than either technique used alone (FBI/DOJ

Jennifer Heap Research Paper
She s not your traditional author by any means, but her work could be be considered poetry. A solo
artist known for the group Frou Frou and her song Hide and Seek , meet my favorite author, Imogen
Jennifer Heap. Born December 9, 1977 in Essex, Imogen Heap for the most part is self taught and is a
huge success. Imogen defied the unwritten rule of solo acts by instead of making a name for herself in
a group then leaving to do their own thing, Imogen did the opposite. She was born in the rural part of
Essex to a businessman and a future art therapist. 12 years after Imogen was born, her parents
divorced. At the young age of 13, Heap could already play piano, cello, and clarinet. She attended the
Quaker Friends School and there she self taught herself how to produce music on Atari computers
after she could not get along with her music teacher. At 16, she wanted to produce orchestral music.
As part of her studies, she recorded pop demos that caught the attention of managers that believed she
should go into the studio. In 1996, Heap began working with an experimental pop band called Acacia.
She was never a real member of the band, just a guest vocalist. One of the band members would play
an important part in the future, and one of Acacia s songs will pop up later on. ... Show more content

John Bunyan Research Paper
John Bunyan a man who was and is important to Christianity, but who was he? John Bunyan was born
on 11/30/1628 and died on 8/31/1688. John Bunyan was also the author of The Pilgrim s Progress and
Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners two very important pieces of Christian Literature for the
time. He also preached to the people of England near the town of Bedford. Bunyan served as a
Protestant leader, and was faithful to God. Bunyan s life will be analyzed from an aspect of his life,
split into two topics of early life and adult life, his worldview, and his accomplishments in his lifetime.
John Bunyan s early life did not make him look like a servant for the Lord. His childhood was not well
recorded; however, it was known that he was being taught to be a tinkerer by his father. In the year
1644 during the spring both his mother and sister passed away. Later, in the same year but during the
fall he was enrolled in the Parliamentary army during the English Civil war. In the year 1647 after
three years of service in the army he went home to resume being a tinkerer. Soon Bunyan s life would
change in a completely different way. John Bunyan s early life was leading him to become a tinkerer,
however during his adult life his path changed. During the years of 1647 and 1649 he met his first

his personal spiritual autobiography. His second book The Pilgrim s Progress is one the highest
regarded pieces of Christian literature, and it was an allegory about a Christian s progress from being
saved to becoming a strong Christian. Both of his book are held in high regards not only as Christian
literature, but also in regards of literature of all history. John Bunyan s Achievements were simple he

Pennsylvania American Architecture
Brianna Jerdan
May 11, 2017
Pennsylvania German Architecture Pennsylvania German architecture is very unique to Southeastern,
Pennsylvania. It spread through Pennsylvania; however, it is most prominent where it originated in
Southeast, Pennsylvania. Most homesteads consist of a main house, along with domestic outbuildings.
A domestic outbuilding is an auxiliary building on a property, and one that is functionally associated
with the domestic aspect of the homestead, that is, with the work and other activities that take place in
the area of the dwelling. (Domestic Outbuildings, p. 66) The domestic outbuildings that existed on
most Pennsylvania German properties, in addition to the main house, was the springhouse, the
bakeoven, the root cellar, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An outdoor privy would allow for an enclosed space to use the bathroom. It would cover one or more
toilets. The idea of an outdoor privy is not unique to the Pennsylvania German culture and
architecture. It has been an idea that has been used for centuries in many different cultures and is still
used in developing countries today. Most outdoor privies were basic structures with lightly framed
structures; however, some of them were of higher class like the outdoor privy at the Tulpehocken
Manor. Tulpehocken Manor has a large and elaborate Victorian privy, of frame construction and
sporting a tall cupola ventilator. (Domestic outbuildings, p. 85). These more elaborate outbuildings
were not as common. Bibliography

Rob Roy
The virtue in his features coincides with neither that of the revolutionaries nor the bland features of the
bank, which are described just before. He is shown to have a very different honesty and courage that
France lacked and that Victorians would not usually have associated with trade. This forms a sharp
contrast to the revolution and strengthens his purity of character. When he must face the dangers of
France, he does not compromise his honesty or loyalty towards either his business or his friends. His
choices are described in saying, His own possessions, safety, life, he would have hazarded for Lucie
and her child, without a moment s demur; but the great trust he held was not his own, and as to that
business charge he was a strict man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Rob Roy, we are presented with Andrew Fairservice who is neither honest nor loyal. He is Frank s
servant throughout the novel who is commonly trying to cheat Frank out of money, despite his
pretences of faithfulness. At one point, he tries to cheat Frank by selling his own horse for one that s
lame and begs money from Frank when Frank tells him to get the other back again. Frank very nearly
falls for this plea, but Jarvie arrives in time and instantly cut short all debate, by pronouncing, that if
Fairservice did not forthwith return the three legged palfrey, and produce the more useful quadruped
which he had discarded, he would send him to prison, and amerce him in half his wages (Scott). Thus,
Jarvie uses his knowledge and understanding of trade to prevent Andrew from taking advantage of
Frank. This happens more than once in the novel and there is such a contrast between Andrew s
dishonesty in business and Jarvie s strict honesty, as well as both their sense and practicality that
Andrew s way of approaching exchange is ridiculous rather than

Canagarajah Analysis
There are a couple of authors that I agree with. I first would like to share why Canagarajah is the
author who I mostly agree with before the other one. Her intention to write her statement was to have
both evangelicals and non evangelicals dialogue in the TESOL field. She mentioned that post
positivist scholars are tired of being stereotyped. On the other hand, believers feel rejected because
they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what
other authors did not. On her statement she did not lean to one particular side, Christian or non
Christian. Instead, she politely exposed both sides on the plate. She asked a number of questions to
why do Christians hinder and do not attend non Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He described great points with respect, empathy, and sincerity. However, I disagree with his
confrontation questions against Christians who believe in the Almighty God. He says, I have no inking
why some people believe (I almost wrote, choose to believe, but that would be to beg the question...in
the existence of a supernatural creator of the world in which I live (p. 21). His statement describing
the importance of respect, empathy and sincerity can make a better world. But, how can creation not
surrender to the Creator of the universe the Almighty God. How can mere people have good deeds
without knowing the one Who is good. I do not agree with Edge pointing fingers instead I would like
to refer to him a quote, Wishing spirituality would die away is not helpful (Canagarajah, S, 2009, p.

(History of PRC) This marked the beginning of the socialist transformation under Mao s rule in which he planned to unify China and raise the standard of living through the development of China s infrastructure, industry, healthcare, and education. Mao s two main campaigns during his time in power were the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution. Along with economic issues, the rapid economic growth has caused multiple other issues. China s main focus has been solely on its economic aspects for so long that it almost seems as if they have been blind to the environmental degradation, increasing rural crisis, growing unemployment and poverty, government corruption, deteriorating public services, as well as escalating social unrests that is and has been occurring for a while now. Although all of these issues at hand are important, the issue that I will be focusing on is the massive environmental degradation and how it has been affected by the increases in Buddhist religious freedom and ecotourism. In 1949, China s natural forests were nationalized and private forests were collectivized, this gave state enterprises control over the forests. The main problem that came out of this was that these enterprises promoted leadership with higher profits from timber production. This caused managers of companies to try to increase their profits from timber production but wouldn t use any of those profits for replanting timber resources because they had no incentive to. This led to China s annual forest volume harvested to be greater than the growth in forest volume, which directly connects to deforestation. China had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. American Cultural Values When discussing America and its pervasive issue with crime, it is important to note the cultural values that not only make America but also break it in terms of encouraging criminality and objectivity of crimes. Furthermore, there are three major cultural values that are held most dear to the American public: freedom, success, and individualism. To begin, freedom is at the core of the American culture. In America, freedom can be defined as the notion that, individuals are guaranteed rights and that those rights can be expanded by the constitution at any time if needed (Burfeind Westermann, 1991). While in some aspects this cultural value has led to great advances in individual rights that may not be seen in other nations, it has some down sides that cause a strain on the American society. For example, because many individuals value freedom and in particular personal freedom, there is often a disconnect between their definition and reality of freedom, the governments definition, and of course others. This type of disconnect and road to eventual criminality can best be represented when discussing one of the major political discussions to date, Marriage Equality. Some American laws that have passed and were enforced were unconstitutional at the very nature of their disallowance of American equality for all and citizens who knew of this used their individual freedom to break this law by practice of civil disobedience. However, since different sections of American s have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY Social influence is defined as a change in an individual s thoughts, feelings, attitudes, or behaviors that results from interaction with another individual or a group of people . Social influence is distinct from conformity, power, and authority. French and Raven (1959) provided an early formalization of the concept of social influence in their discussion of the bases of social power. For French and Raven, agents of change included not just individuals and groups, but also norms and roles. They viewed social influence as the outcome of the exertion of social power from one of five bases: reward power, coercive power, legitimate power, expert power, or referent power. Television impacts children the most as far as advertising goes. Many children as young as three years old recognize brand named products and clothing. When these children spend time watching so much television they cannot help but be influenced by it; and want what they see. These children become so obsessed with having what they see on television that they continue to hassle their parents until they get it Some parents may even have trouble keeping up with the amount of money theft child thinks that they need so they may have the newest products out there. These children that are watching more television, are going to want more toys seen in advertisements and eat more advertised food than children who do not watch as much television (Strasburger, 2001). • 9. Human Cloning Is Not More Difficult Than Cloning Human cloning involves removing the nucleus of a human egg and replacing it with the nucleus of an existing person (Glannon, p. 89). It is the genetic duplication of an existing person (CGS). Identical twins are a naturally occurring cloning (Science Daily). Several countries worldwide have bans on human cloning (Kilner). The U.S. government has cut funding for cloning research (Kilner). Arguments in favor of human cloning point out the benefits of advancing technology, while those against question the effect it has on human dignity and even the clone itself. Although the clone has the DNA of the donor, the clone will have epigenetic effects. Epigenetic disturbances refer to the altered physical structures of the DNA, but not the DNA sequence itself (Epigenetics). Cloning technology has produced clones of several mammals, including sheep, mice, goats, and horses (AMA). Cloning humans is technically more difficult than cloning other mammals (Cloning Fact Sheet). The process is still extremely inefficient and rarely produces viable cells. Those usable cells are unlikely to survive until birth (AMA). So far, animal cloning research has caused death and deformities of the clone (Kilner). Dolly, a cloned sheep, aged rapidly and had to be euthanized at six years old (Glannon, p91). We can assume that human cloning will also have a dismal failure rate (AMA). It would be considered unethical to attempt to produce human clones due to the potential physical harm to the cloned child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The psychological pain by giving their babies to other women is greater than that of body. Thus, some surrogate mothers refuse to give up their babies sometimes. The third similarity is that some people want to embrace euthanasia in any society. Here is the release in the community. The release is not a natural death, but the end of life by human being. Reflection Paper On Field Experience Field Experience Reflection Paper For this field experience my group have taught five different lessons that has consisted of four different groups of students. This made it difficult to analyze the different students work, and to know what types of problems each student typically struggles with. Since we had different students, my group was able to pose similar problems to different students and it allowed us to get better with our teaching. Since we used similar problems, we were able to practice our questioning skills and get better after each lesson. Lesson 1: For the first day we only had five to ten minutes with one student named Lucas and posed the following problem: Sarah has 78 apples. She needs to put 6 apples in each basket. How many full baskets will she have?his student solved the problem by writing, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, .... Lucas wrote all the way up to 78 and he was able to tell us that there would be 13 baskets. That first day, I could have been better at communicating with Lucas. I should have asked at the beginning, what do know about this problem? What are you trying to find? Do you have any questions about the problem?. I believe that this would have helped clear up any confusion that Lucas could have had. We also read the problem out loud, what we should have done was type it in the chat box and then read it aloud. Big mistake on our part. Overall, Lucas was able to solve the problem, but we could have done better with communicating to him. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sol knew that the only way was to split them apart. One day Sol reached down to Terro and Aquara, and split them apart and placed them side by side. Terro understood and thanked Sol for letting them still be close. Aquara on the other hand, was agonized. Sol placed all the animals down to Terro. When people hear the word autism , most of them automatically think of impaired communication and social interaction, of repetitive and often challenging behaviour. The fact is, that one will almost certainly think of challenges and deficits rather than strengths when the word autism is mentioned. The purpose of this essay is not to try and prove that the strengths of autism outweigh the challenges that would simply be untrue. • 22. Cuiousity and a Sense of Adventure Drove the Atomic Age The Atomic Age was driven by curiosity and a sense of adventure. As some of the most well thinkers of the day continued with passion about physics, their self confident in peeling the layers of the proverbial scientific onion led to severe unintended consequences that dramatically impacted the lives of billions of people. Moreover, complacency fuelled by arrogance resulted in the betrayal of compassion and principled action, ultimately leading to the sacrifice of millions to pay the debt of a few. Atomic energy re invigorated technological and scientific purpose of the early 20th century. Augmenting knowledge through scientific inquiry motivated researchers and academics to collaborate in labs and conferences in developing an emerging field. As discoveries dotted the path to scientific self indulgence, the purported results of the research which was often purely coincidental, was promoted as yielding untold benefits to society. Medicine would be radically transformed and the scarcity of energy to fuel engines of economic growth would be a thing of the past (De Groot, Steg Poortinga, 2013). The marvels of the atomic age, it seemed, would become the Holy Grail that would breathe renewed life to human progress.
