Fast Food Essay
FAST FOOD
This is a type of a mass produced food that is prepared and served very quickly. The food is less
nutritional compared to other foods and dishes. This refers to food sold in a restaurant or a store with
preheated ingredients and served to the customer in a packaged form for take away.
The history of fast food
The concept of ready cooked food for sale is closely connected with urban development. Homes in
cities always lacked proper food. Additionally, procuring cooking fuel could cost as much as
purchased produce. In Ancient Rome, cities had street stands a large counter with a receptacle in the
middle from which food or drink would have been served.

Western World Religion
Although there were many different aspects that played into the shaping of Western society, religion
was the most influential. That s not to say that religion was able to do that alone, but it seems that no
matter what was happening during the course of the last several hundred years, religion played a part.
Without the efforts of Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, and many others who were willing to stick their necks
out for religious freedom. Bucking the system and questioning the status quo was exactly the theme of
every major development in the Western world. The following words from Martin Luther help to bring
together an idea that sparked progression and reform that began in the early 1500s and is still in
motion today:

God s right, or the divine right of kings, led to many civilizations under the direction of rule by those
who were only in that position because of religious standing. Thanks to the actions of political
reformers, many nations began adopting policies that were more representative of their inhabitants.
They weren t perfect to begin with, and many countries were ruled by emperors who claimed to be
progressive but were clinging on to ideas that would further their own agendas. They were called
enlightened despots. Catherine the Great was one of those rulers. She had many great ideas and was
seen by most of her people as a friend of Enlightenment. However, she had a greater desire to be
views as an enlightened leader, rather than actually being one. When Catherine suspended meetings of
a Legislative Committee aimed at giving a voice to all due to her lack of order, it led many to believe
that there were aspects of her persona that were simply for show (Boeve, Schrijvers, Stoker, Vroom,
2006). However, even a glimmer of progression showed that the once unheard of actions of religious
reformists was beginning to have an impact on all facets of

The Definition of Success and How to Be Successful
Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles
which he has overcome , Booker T. Washington, spoke that success is not measured in the riches and
status of a person, but by the hard work and commitment they made to reach their goals while
conquering challenges along the way. Washington states a brilliant point, although there are others
who would disagree, instead viewing materials as a measurement of success. Since when did success
start being acquisitively measured? Modern day society has force fed people through television, social
media, and iconic celebrities that being successful has all to do with the materialistic items, luxuries,
money and fame that a person has. On the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through her difficult childhood, Oprah became a courageous woman, who went on to pursue her
dreams by earning herself a scholarship to Tennessee State University. Her career then started,

thousands of people with her television show The Oprah Winfrey Show and her school for girls in
South Africa Oprah s Leadership Academy. She is an icon to millions of people all over the world for
her generous and philanthropic personality. Life handed Oprah strenuous and unpleasant obstacles in
her early years, but through conquering these obstacles and dedicating her life to what she believes in,
she has become an icon of success. Another ideal example would be renowned actor, Johnny Depp.
Depps is known for his prosperous acting career starring in award winning movies such as Titanic,
Pirates of the Caribbean, and Sweeney Todd. He holds fame and luxuries most people can only dream
of, but he is not a successful man for being famous, he is successful for the challenges he has faced
and fought on his journey to the big screen. Depp was born in Owensboro, Kentucky as the youngest
of four children. To accommodate his father s job as a civil engineer, the family was forced to move
frequently, making a stable childhood for Depp impossible. He became withdrawn from people and

Tobacco And Its Effects On The United States
Tobacco is the number one cause of preventable death in the United States. According to the American
Lung Association in 2009, 20.6% of adults were current smokers. In 1970, the United States banned
television and radio advertisements of cigarettes. Across the world countries battle similar issues in
how to help prevent deaths, lower healthcare costs, and educate the population. Countries have banned
advertising, posted health causes, renamed brands, and even included informational fliers in packs of
cigarettes. In 2001, The Government of India decided to ban the advertising of cigarettes. This ban
was created to help the youth of India and hoped to reduce the amount of future smokers. The
proposal of this restriction caused debates between the government, advertising companies, and
tobacco manufacturers. The supporting and dismantling arguments for these ethical and commercial
causes of the ban have enabled the government to make their final decision. The Government of India
has created an anti tobacco plan to tackle the growing issues of tobacco, health concerns, and rising
death toll. Their first goal was to eliminate advertising as this was perceived to encourage the youth to
take up the dangerous habit. This ban posed ethical and commercial challenges for both sides of the
argument. The government has the power to pass laws to help prevent people from smoking and
protect its people. They found the ethical decision was to use this power by creating and

The American Dream By John Steinbeck
The American Dream is the ideology that each American believes. In the 1930 s they thought they
could obtain anything they wanted if they put in significant effort, hard work, and had motivation.
This dream is something that the immigrants from Europe heard of before they came over. They
wanted this so bad that they left their home and their families to find their personal American Dream.
It didn t come easy for everyone at first because of the discrimination and prejudice against them. But
with their mindsets that this is something they wanted and wouldn t stop until they reached it, many
Americans found their dream. Each person had their unique goal. Some wanted to build a house and
live in the country. Others wanted to invent something and become a millionaire. In the novel, each
character had their own dream as well.
For example, Lennie and George wanted to have their own farm and live in freedom. Curley s wife
wanted to become a movie star and Candy latches on to Lennie and George s dream. Each character
makes up for the lack of their dream by compensating it with something else. The
American Dream can be extraordinary or simple, depending on whose it is.
The modern day American Dream is far different from the dream in the 1930 s. Today the dream is the
white picket fence house and family. The ideal lifestyle is to be moderately wealthy and live in a big
home with a nice yard in a nice neighborhood. It would have a white picket fence around the yard
with a dog and a

Nora and Kristine Nora Helmer and Kristine Linde represent the role of women in Henrik Ibsen s, A
Doll House. Their lives had always been in parallel. In the beginning of the story Nora lives a very
happy life and has the role of a loving wife, while Kristine is a lonely widow. As the story develops;
Nora Helmer and Kristine Linde emerge as contrasting characters; one goes on to liberate herself,
while the other comes to security.
Nora portrays as a happy and submissive wife in the beginning of the story; however, as the story
emerges Nora turns out to be an unconventional character who goes on to liberate herself. At first
Nora lives under the security of the norm by being a submissive wife and obeying her husband. People

woman. For example, Kristine had to work non stop for the past three years to support her afflicted
mother and her younger brothers. Moreover, she had to marry a man she did not love for the survival

(received two years early) NPV = 200/1.13 + 200/1.14 + 200/1.15 + 200/1.16 + 200/1.17 + 200/1.18 =

625/1.19 = 2045,107391 Preproduction costs We already know from above that the net present value
of preproduction costs is 733,9730893 Now, having the discounted cash inflows and outflows, we can
calculate the net present value of the project when production is roughly 300 units: NPV = discounted

production is 300. This proves that Lockheed did not break even in value terms when the production
level was 300. At what sales volume did the Tri Star program reach true economic break even? When
the level of production is 210, each plane contributes 2 million to Lockheed. That is the difference
(=contribution margin) between sales price (16 million) and production costs per plane (14 million).
Therefore, we can find the break even point with the following equation: Fixed costs / contribution
margin = 733,9730893 / 2 = 366,986... ~ 367 planes In the above

Estee Lauder Case Study
The environmental factors are something that the company cannot control but able to response back to
the change. As time change, more and more women are educated and work in professional fields
which require women to dress and look professional; this increase the demand of skin care products
and make up products. Also, people work under a fast paced environment and this make time become
important, Estée Lauder company would want to think how to response to the change of time.
Customers want to shorten skin care time by applying a 2 minute moisturize instead of a 15 minutes
mask, so Estée Lauder need to innovate their products or create a new product that save customers
time. Currently, Estée Lauder creates a capsule product as replacement of serum, which is easier to
carry and use. Within international trading, the language and culture of other country affect the way
company package Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair and the way they advertised the product. For
example, the culture of China love to use red color when it comes to celebration, and avoid use black
or white when wrap the products.
Economic
The better the economic, the more sale of the product. If the economic goes well, more and more
female customers would able to afford the premium product, and customers are willing to spend more.
If economic goes under recession, the demand of product decrease which hurt the sale. The company
might want to create more promotion to lower the price to maintain customer

The Country Of Ghan Ghana
History Thousand of years ago, between the 9th and 11th centuries, Ghana took pride on being one of
the richest areas in Africa. Geographically, they were literally sitting on a gold mine. The dogs wore
gold collars, horses had silk bridles, and Ghana s kings were easily some of the richest in the world.
This medieval Ghana was located about 500 miles north of present day Ghana, and was referred to as
the Gold Coast for obvious reasons. Far more advanced than any country in its time, Ghana was a
trading hotspot with a powerful king and economy. However, this time of prosperity would not last
forever. In the 13th century, Ghana faced gold trading competition and attacks from other territories
out of jealously. Eventually, they were defeated and taken over by the Kingdom of Mali, the next great
empire which was even wealthier than Ghana. Although that kingdom was eventually weakened, it
marked one of the last periods before European intervention. In 1471, the Portuguese arrive as the first
Europeans with the intention to trade; they traded firearms and slaves from other territories in return
for gold dust. By now, the Akan people are the largest tribe in the area. Slaves increased economic
productivity, and the weapons allowed the Akan states to expand. In 1642, the Dutch replaced the
Portuguese, and 30 years later, Great Britain and Denmark established their own trading posts. These
European powers wanted slaves, and soon they replaced gold as the main export. Conflicts

Medusa Brewing Company
1 Houghton Street, Hudson MA
General
The site is located at the northwestern side of the intersection between Houghton Street and South
Street. The project site is shown in Figure One, Locus Map: 1 Houghton Street, Hudson MA.
The project site is labelled as Assessors Sheet 29, Lot 218 and is a historic mill complex. Therefore,
certain activities are exempted from requirements stated in 310 CMR 10.58(1) through (5), but Best
Management Practices (BMP) will still be applied.
The site area is currently vacant and is approximately 14,757 SF. The lot is bordered to the west by the
Danforth Brook, with Houghton Street to the east, South Street to the South, and a one story
commercial structure to the north. There is a footbridge southwesterly of the site which connects to a
parking lot. The site is flat with an elevation change of 1 foot from the northern property line to south
street.
The Danforth Brook is a perennial stream, with a running water depth of roughly one foot. The bottom
of the stream is covered with plants and various pieces of rubble. It is confined by stone walls, both of
which are over 100 years old. The riverfront is degraded because, parts of the stone wall are covered
by overgrowth and a tree has grown in the riverbed in an area adjacent to the footbridge. The wall is in
various states of disrepair with pieces of it lying in the riverbed.
Additionally, a small area of Bordering Land Subject to Flooding (BLSF), extends onto the western
portion of the property. Based on the FEMA Flood Insurance Study for Middlesex County from July
6, 2016, the elevation of the floodplain was determined to be at 204.2 feet. The flood zone area is
having been calculated to be approximately 4,588 SF. The actual area of the flood zone could vary
slightly because the site is flat and could have various undulations not considered in the survey.
Description of Existing Conditions
Prior to its demolition in 1999 the building housed a three story shoe factory. After its demolition it
was used as a drive through ATM until 2002, when the ATM was removed. Currently the lot is vacant
with low lying plant growth and random debris. The stone wall requires repair at

Theme Of Allusions In Dantes Inferno
James Dietrich

4th Hour

The Secrets Behind People
Smiling.. Shaking head, and acting like everything is understood and okay is a common gesture
people show when they are told something they are incapable of putting together or understanding.
This feeling of cluelessness or embarrassment most commonly occurs when someone uses an allusion
to describe a noun. Most people use allusions everyday and have no idea that they are doing so.
Allusions are an excellent way to build someone s confidence or put them in down in a sneaky and sly
way. Using allusions is quite simple; comparing someone or something that has a specific
representation or meaning to a person or group. This allows: authors, friends, and even enemies to
indirectly imply a reference. The Book Dante s inferno is filled with a plethora of allusions from small
references to big that take a significant amount of elaboration and background knowledge to
understand completely. Including Greek emperors and queens being alluded including: Virgil, Pope
Celestine V, and many others.
Dante made it through many different obstacles and layers of hell, but he could not of made it through
his journey without Virgil. The character in the book is being alluded to the Roman poet Publius
Vergilius Maro. Maro believed and wrote a legendary piece of literature that stated the mission to
civilize the world under divine guidance. He not only wrote about these ways of life but he did his

This move was largely due to the hardships experienced on American soil during the Great Depression
and its losses in World War I (American Isolationism). However on December 7th, 1941, the
isolationist stance held by the United States was shattered when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor
and war was officially declared on Japan, Germany, and Italy (American Isolationism). This war
would go on for another four years, taking with it close to 50 million lives and devastating not only
families, but entire nations (By The Numbers). Due to the incredible loss of life, the United States
understood that ending the war, especially the ongoing war in the pacific, was of paramount
importance. Unfortunately for the Japanese, it would be its country s own sense of pride and
nationalism that brought its undoing. Despite being overpowered, without resources, and lacking a
functioning navy, the Japanese government refused to surrender to the United States (Powers). Many
have speculated that a contributing factor may have been Japan s ancient belief in bushido an old

their lives, and left their country in ruin. While he knew that continuing the

Acute Renal Failures
Acute Renal Failure The kidneys are vitals organs that are responsible for various function in the
human body such as reabsorption, secretion and excretion. They are the filters that enable us to get
waste materials that are produced by metabolism or ingested. The most important element that they
filter is blood plasma. The kidneys simultaneously eliminate unwanted substances by excreting them
into the urine and return substances that are needed back in to the blood. While filtration is the
primary function the kidneys are responsible for regulation of arterial pressure, acid base balance and
excretion of hormones. Any injury to the kidney may result in an interruption of these functions. The
kidneys are highly vascular organs that receive on average about 1100ml of blood per min. which is
20 25% of total cardiac output. This large volume is necessary to provide enough plasma for the high
glomerular filtration rate needed to effectively regulate fluid volumes and solute concentrations.
Therefore when the blood supply to the kidneys is compromised the kidneys start to show signs of
failure. The causes of renal failure can divided into three categories prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal.
Prerenal cute renal failure is a result of decreased blood flow to the kidneys. It can be a result cardiac
failure and of intravascular volume depletion such as hemorrhage and burns. Without adequate blood
flow the glomerular filtration rate is reduced as well as the amount of

How Did Malthus Build Food Production In The Ottoman Empire
Growth and Food Production in the Ottoman Empire
In his 1798 Essay on the Principle of Population, Thomas Malthus defended the proposition that, had
population and food increased in the same ratio, it is probable that man might never have emerged
from the savage state. Labeled a Malthusian trap after the demographer s work, the theoretical
principle holds that, because population increases exponentially, while agricultural output increases
arithmetically, periodic premature deaths among the population will be caused by a lack of sustenance.
Had a population never overcome the reoccurring demographic trap of an equal increase in food and
population, Malthus contends, the life of man as a subsistence farmer would continue to be, as

In the Ottoman Empire, immigration from Russia and the upper Balkan Peninsula brought a ten fold
increase in iron plow use in Ottoman Bulgaria, and the introduction of the calorie rich potato to
Anatolia, which had a beneficial effect of agriculture of Anatolia as a whole. Whether or not the
limited introduction of improved techniques and plant species into the Empire was also driving force
behind increased production, it still appeared to be caused by the influx of people to the region.
Malthus s doomsday prediction of stagnation upon population growth appears to fail when considering
the possibility of introduction of new techniques to maximize gains. So far, in the case of the Ottoman
Empire, the relationship between changes in population density and agricultural production has proven
to be that an increase in the former resulted in a subsequent and equal rise in the latter. In order to

Freight Rate Management and Shareholder Value
The shipping markets have been among the most active among markets over the last couple of years.
This significant growth in shipping markets has been influenced by changes in import policies,

and continents have positively influenced the growth of the shipping markets, with marginalized and
developing countries having an opportunity to venture into the global arena.

To avoid the risks associated with fluctuating freight rates and volatility as witnessed over the last
couple of years, companies must ensure that they consider hedging. Hedging helps in controlling the
cash inflow and outflow as dictated by both internal and external parameters (Kavussanos Visvikis
2006). Operating costs, which is affected by among other things bunker prices, should be addressed
through hedging to ensure that companies maximize their profits and that the share prices remain
competitive and profitable.
Being registered in the London Stock Exchange, Hellenic Company has witnessed a significant
reduction in its share prices, mainly due to changes in the freight rates. The charges associated with
transporting gods and commodities from one region to another have been affected by among other
things, competition, bunker prices and inflation. The companies in the shipping business have to adopt
many strategies to minimize the risks associated with freight services (Schwartz Smith 2000). Change
in technology and services would influence management of cash inflows and outflows as it would
influence change in freight rates and hence maximize profits.

Shipping companies have experienced volatility over the last couple of years due to inflation, change

The Problem Of Deaf Culture
Deaf culture is a way to start this essay. Most people, when they think of deafness, assume that it is
nothing more than a disability. This is erroneous because defining what deaf really means, means
looking past the definition and looking into the heart of a deaf person, to see equality among us all.
Equality among humans isn t controversial, but what is? Cochlear Implantation is controversial.
Inserting an internal disruption of the deaf culture is controversial. Placing an electronic device in
your children s ears because you want them to talk like a normal child is controversial. After having a
very rigorous debate about CI s in my ASL class, I came to the conclusion that out of 30 students,
more than half of them would choose implantation of their young fragile, pure child. Being deaf is
way more than just being able to hear, being deaf is a gift; a family within a family, and implanting a
child a child under your circumstances only shreds the wrapping paper off that gift. Lets jump right
into the positive facts of cochlear implants, because there isn t many. in a very descriptive and
informational article by Ron Kotulak, he mentions that, The implant significantly improve the hearing
of adults in conjunction with speech reading. Benefits have also been observed in children as young as
two. So, it is an unbiased fact that, in some cases, Cochlear Implantation is highly effective and serves

This lecture considers how the Critical Theorists of the Frankfurt School sought to understand the
relationship of culture and society in an age of advanced capitalism and mass media. It explores their
analyses of popular culture, and poses the question of whether the term culture industry has now lost
its original, critical meaning.
Key thinkers: Marx, Gramsci, Adorno, Horkheimer, Benjamin
Seminar questions
1.Has the mechanical reproduction of art opened up possibilities of a more democratic appreciation, or
merely reduced it to the status of a commodity?
2.Has the Culture Industry killed High Culture ?

How is this useful for media criticism
Film Criticism:
The difference between theater and film is also about loss of aura. A play (has aura) is always different
because the actors interact with the audience and each performance is unique. A film, however has no
audience the actors usually only perform tiny fragments of the whole and generally not even in
order....movies are pieced together by editors. Film 也是一种reproduction。
Audience Reception:
Watching a film is a collective experience and each audience member is a critic its part of the fun.
Think of a newsreel when a group of people witness an event they are educated on something and they
can become politically active because of it (For example, although he was talking about the potential
for class revolt Benjamin would be proven correct when American men and women were motivated

Capitalism/Fan Culture:
But just as the medium has the potential to be used in the Revolution, it cannot be because it is
controlled by capitalism (this might be a good connection to the Hollywood Censored book).
Because of the way capitalism operates, there is a false consciousness between the actors and
audience. The actors become held up as having cult value (ritual

Book Review- One Crazy Summer
Book Review One Crazy Summer The genre historical fiction focuses young readers to inform them
about historical and significant cultural events in history, but to do in a way that is comfortable for
readers in this age group. One Crazy Summer is a good example of young adult literature of
highlighting cultural/historical events and entertaining to its audience. Two characteristics that make
this a great novel for middle school readers is that 1 It encourages further inquiry( historical) and 2
The situations and characters are relatable (Y/A novel).
The story is set in 1968 in Oakland, California three young girls Delphine, Vonetta, and Fern who
leave their father in Brooklyn to go Oakland to meet their mother who abandoned them. Oakland at
this time is a boiling pot with political and racial turmoil, with the Black Panthers at the head of a
movement fighting for civil rights. In a historical context many readers at this age level have not been
exposed to the many freedom fighter organizations like The Black Panthers, middle school students
are usually only exposed to a limited number of figures in the civil rights movement like Martin
Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. In One Crazy Summer, the racial and social tones are very accurate
for the time, this is something that also resembles in today s society since race relations have
improved but as still has a long way to go. This story gives a nice glimpse of the societal issues of the
time with the mention of rioting in

A Sand County Almanac Summary
Fall is a time of change. The leaves change from green to brilliant shades of brown, red and yellow.
The seasons begin to change from the dog days of summer to the cool stillness of winter. Fall is my
favorite time of the year. When asked to choose just one chapter from A Sand County Almanac, my
first idea was to look in the section about the fall.
When reading the chapters about Fall, the one that struck a chord was the chapter about October. I
chose this section because it really seemed to paint a picture that reminded me of what the fall is like.
In Smoky Gold , the writer discusses hunting for birds. This is defiantly something that I associate
with the month of October. In Too Early, the author discusses what a person who chooses to go out
into the wild before dawn can witness. In Red Lanterns, the author discusses a pheasant hunt. All of
these readings give a feeling of fall. They reflect the month for which they were entitled and they help
to paint a picture of what I believe fall is. That is why I chose to write about this specific section of A
Sand County Almanac.
The first section of this chapter is called Smoky Gold. In this section of the chapter, the writer
discusses grouse hunting. He states that few people are aware of the grouse population in Adams
County. He goes on to say that most hunters speed on through to the counties farther north. He smiles
as he sits in the tamaracks and listens to sounds of these other hunters speeding by. The point he is
trying to make here is that there can be beauty in many places; you just have to take the time to slow
down and experience this beauty. The hunters that speed by are on their way to hunt in another place.
This is most likely a place they have been before. They are used to doing things the same way and
they do not take the time to try anything new. If they would slow down, they may come to discover
that what they are looking for can be found in Adams County.
Section two is called Too Early. In this section of the chapter, the author discusses the beauties that can
be seen by people and animals that get up before the sunrise. The author describes showing up at the
marsh too early for the sun was really a lesson in listening. The

The Libation Bearers and Hamlet
Many of Shakespeare s plays draw from classical Greek themes, plot and metaphors. The tragedies of
Sophocles, Aeschylus, Euripides and Homer have themes like royal murders, assassinations by near
relatives, the supernatural, ghostly visits, and vengeful spirits of the dead themes which reappear in
Shakespeare s tragedies with a difference.
Shakespeare s tragic hero Hamlet and Aeschylus s Orestes have a great deal in common. Both the
plays are set in a time when the society is going through transition. In Orestia gods are changing.

Both the tragic heroes are troubled by supernatural visits and nightmares. Both have ethical and moral

Jessica Price observes:
An onslaught of tragic elements appear in both Hamlet and The Oresteia. Hamlet s hamartia in
William Shakespeare s Hamlet leads to his succumbing to corruption and his eventual demise. In The
Oresteia by Aeschylus, Orestes hamartia takes a slightly different course, causing him to stumble, but
not completely fall.
While Orestes never indulges in long existential speeches or philosophical thinking Hamlet delays the
action in his endless quest for a right answer. Hamlet is not faced with the terrible commitment of
killing his own mother. He has to kill his uncle to whom one is not as dearly related as a son is to his
mother. Still he does not consider it right to kill his uncle on an apparitions command. He puts him to
test to affirm what his father s ghost said. He arranges a play based on the actual event of king s
murder to be performed before his uncle and mother and note their responses to it. Even after his
suspicion is validated he cannot bring himself round to kill his uncle. He wants to heal what has been
hurt, make right what is wrong, do the justice but deep inside he does not want to kill Claudius.

Rap music is easily accessible by the means of television, newspapers and other media these days, and

Another major issue with the influence in rap isn t the rap music itself, but the lyrics associated with
the music. For example, Time Warner should stop its sponsorship and promotion of lyrics that

Financial Risks
The successful management of financial institutions (FIs) demands an understanding of the relevant
structures, operations, and the associated risks. In particular, the assessment of the risks is necessary to
make the appropriate steps to maintain the solvency of FIs (Saunders Cornett, 2007). One of the steps
involves the application of off balance sheet (OBS) activities. OBS refers to the properties of the FI
which are considered assets, but which do not feature in the balance sheets and thus are not used in
balancing the ledger (at most, they may appear at the bottom of the balance sheet). OBSs are

The operations also include future contracts, structured in such a way so as to execute organized
exchanges that involve payment for assets at a later date (Saunder Cornett, 2016). Finally, the OBS
items include commitments, guarantees, and other derivative financial instruments that sometimes
serve as significant sources of revenue for the commercial banks (Papanikolaou Wolff, 2014).
Furthermore, an off balance sheet item can move onto the balance sheet after the agreed conditions are
met. For instance, when the accepted obligations are met by the parties involved in the transaction, the
OBS assets transform into the balance sheet assets, hence moved accordingly (Bučková, 2012). The
future contracts are therefore terminated, valid from the moment when the pre requisite conditions are
met. In most cases, the OBS items are joined to the credit risks. More importantly, the derivative
instruments are introduced into the balance sheet in their real values, but reflected in the OBS in their
nominal values (Bučková, 2012).
Finally, it is vital to assess the risk of the particular OBS item before implementing it. Nevertheless, an
accurate evaluation of any OBS activity and its risk implications is an extremely difficult process
since every separate OBS item possesses complex contingent claim

Steal The Baudelaire The Art Of Creativity
When individuals ask about creativity, typically they have pre conceived notion of what is creativity.
Studies from Business insider claims that school are trying to limit creativity by forcing classes that
are little to no interest to students. Those who ponder the idea about what is truly creative are
individuals who can be reason with. The art of creativity is one s own perspective; what one accepts as
ludicrous other might believe to be brilliant. A ted talk by Sir Ken Robinson s proven this statement by
using a child who fidgets a lot as an example of how most saw her as ill, but actually she s a talented

Unlike math, science, history, and physical education classes, you can fully examine your options. The

Baudelaire children s fortune. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny have studied in every subject imaginable due
to their parents status, but they have never taken a course in creativity. If they had, life threatening
situation like being trapped in a hospital, or trying to escape from a slumbering wouldn t be as
challenging. The Baudelaire children are a prime example of how endless classes can all be useless if
your ability to adapt are adequate. If they even spend a fraction of their studying time for a creative
class, then their lives wouldn t always be in danger and fending for themselves in reality would be
easier. When Count Olaf trapped them inside a burning hospital, voilet didn t notice and came up with
a plan last second that almost costed her sibling their lives. If they ve been taught that a creative class,

The purpose for restorative justice is to find a peaceful way to help the victim, the offender, and the
community in terms of healing, reconciliation, and forgiveness, instead of focusing on the punishment.
Restorative justice also tries to help build up the community life with the victim and the victims
family and peers, with the offenders and his/hers family and peers discussing the situation on hand.
Question ask in restorative justice are: What or who was harmed? Who is responsible for the harm
done? What needs to happen to repair the harm?

  • 3. Western World Religion Although there were many different aspects that played into the shaping of Western society, religion was the most influential. That s not to say that religion was able to do that alone, but it seems that no matter what was happening during the course of the last several hundred years, religion played a part. Without the efforts of Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, and many others who were willing to stick their necks out for religious freedom. Bucking the system and questioning the status quo was exactly the theme of every major development in the Western world. The following words from Martin Luther help to bring together an idea that sparked progression and reform that began in the early 1500s and is still in motion today: I have often said that ... God s right, or the divine right of kings, led to many civilizations under the direction of rule by those who were only in that position because of religious standing. Thanks to the actions of political reformers, many nations began adopting policies that were more representative of their inhabitants. They weren t perfect to begin with, and many countries were ruled by emperors who claimed to be progressive but were clinging on to ideas that would further their own agendas. They were called enlightened despots. Catherine the Great was one of those rulers. She had many great ideas and was seen by most of her people as a friend of Enlightenment. However, she had a greater desire to be views as an enlightened leader, rather than actually being one. When Catherine suspended meetings of a Legislative Committee aimed at giving a voice to all due to her lack of order, it led many to believe that there were aspects of her persona that were simply for show (Boeve, Schrijvers, Stoker, Vroom, 2006). However, even a glimmer of progression showed that the once unheard of actions of religious reformists was beginning to have an impact on all facets of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Washington, spoke that success is not measured in the riches and status of a person, but by the hard work and commitment they made to reach their goals while conquering challenges along the way. Washington states a brilliant point, although there are others who would disagree, instead viewing materials as a measurement of success. Since when did success start being acquisitively measured? According to the American Lung Association in 2009, 20.6% of adults were current smokers. In 1970, the United States banned television and radio advertisements of cigarettes. Across the world countries battle similar issues in how to help prevent deaths, lower healthcare costs, and educate the population. Countries have banned advertising, posted health causes, renamed brands, and even included informational fliers in packs of cigarettes. In 2001, The Government of India decided to ban the advertising of cigarettes. This ban was created to help the youth of India and hoped to reduce the amount of future smokers. The proposal of this restriction caused debates between the government, advertising companies, and tobacco manufacturers. The supporting and dismantling arguments for these ethical and commercial causes of the ban have enabled the government to make their final decision. • 6. The American Dream By John Steinbeck The American Dream is the ideology that each American believes. In the 1930 s they thought they could obtain anything they wanted if they put in significant effort, hard work, and had motivation. This dream is something that the immigrants from Europe heard of before they came over. They wanted this so bad that they left their home and their families to find their personal American Dream. It didn t come easy for everyone at first because of the discrimination and prejudice against them. But with their mindsets that this is something they wanted and wouldn t stop until they reached it, many Americans found their dream. Each person had their unique goal. Some wanted to build a house and live in the country. Others wanted to invent something and become a millionaire. In the novel, each character had their own dream as well. For example, Lennie and George wanted to have their own farm and live in freedom. Curley s wife wanted to become a movie star and Candy latches on to Lennie and George s dream. Each character makes up for the lack of their dream by compensating it with something else. The American Dream can be extraordinary or simple, depending on whose it is. The modern day American Dream is far different from the dream in the 1930 s. Today the dream is the white picket fence house and family. The ideal lifestyle is to be moderately wealthy and live in a big home with a nice yard in a nice neighborhood. It would have a white picket fence around the yard with a dog and a ... This proves that Lockheed did not break even in value terms when the production level was 300. At what sales volume did the Tri Star program reach true economic break even? When the level of production is 210, each plane contributes 2 million to Lockheed. That is the difference (=contribution margin) between sales price (16 million) and production costs per plane (14 million). Therefore, we can find the break even point with the following equation: Fixed costs / contribution margin = 733,9730893 / 2 = 366,986... ~ 367 planes In the above ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Country Of Ghan Ghana History Thousand of years ago, between the 9th and 11th centuries, Ghana took pride on being one of the richest areas in Africa. Geographically, they were literally sitting on a gold mine. The dogs wore gold collars, horses had silk bridles, and Ghana s kings were easily some of the richest in the world. This medieval Ghana was located about 500 miles north of present day Ghana, and was referred to as the Gold Coast for obvious reasons. Far more advanced than any country in its time, Ghana was a trading hotspot with a powerful king and economy. However, this time of prosperity would not last forever. In the 13th century, Ghana faced gold trading competition and attacks from other territories out of jealously. Eventually, they were defeated and taken over by the Kingdom of Mali, the next great empire which was even wealthier than Ghana. Although that kingdom was eventually weakened, it marked one of the last periods before European intervention. In 1471, the Portuguese arrive as the first Europeans with the intention to trade; they traded firearms and slaves from other territories in return for gold dust. By now, the Akan people are the largest tribe in the area. Slaves increased economic productivity, and the weapons allowed the Akan states to expand. In 1642, the Dutch replaced the Portuguese, and 30 years later, Great Britain and Denmark established their own trading posts. These European powers wanted slaves, and soon they replaced gold as the main export. Conflicts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shaking head, and acting like everything is understood and okay is a common gesture people show when they are told something they are incapable of putting together or understanding. Using allusions is quite simple; comparing someone or something that has a specific representation or meaning to a person or group. This allows: authors, friends, and even enemies to indirectly imply a reference. The Book Dante s inferno is filled with a plethora of allusions from small references to big that take a significant amount of elaboration and background knowledge to understand completely. Unfortunately for the Japanese, it would be its country s own sense of pride and nationalism that brought its undoing. • 17. Acute Renal Failures Acute Renal Failure The kidneys are vitals organs that are responsible for various function in the human body such as reabsorption, secretion and excretion. They are the filters that enable us to get waste materials that are produced by metabolism or ingested. The most important element that they filter is blood plasma. The kidneys simultaneously eliminate unwanted substances by excreting them into the urine and return substances that are needed back in to the blood. While filtration is the primary function the kidneys are responsible for regulation of arterial pressure, acid base balance and excretion of hormones. Any injury to the kidney may result in an interruption of these functions. The kidneys are highly vascular organs that receive on average about 1100ml of blood per min. which is 20 25% of total cardiac output. This large volume is necessary to provide enough plasma for the high glomerular filtration rate needed to effectively regulate fluid volumes and solute concentrations. Therefore when the blood supply to the kidneys is compromised the kidneys start to show signs of failure. The causes of renal failure can divided into three categories prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal. Prerenal cute renal failure is a result of decreased blood flow to the kidneys. It can be a result cardiac failure and of intravascular volume depletion such as hemorrhage and burns. Equality among humans isn t controversial, but what is? Cochlear Implantation is controversial. Inserting an internal disruption of the deaf culture is controversial. • 31. A Sand County Almanac Summary Fall is a time of change. The leaves change from green to brilliant shades of brown, red and yellow. The seasons begin to change from the dog days of summer to the cool stillness of winter. Fall is my favorite time of the year. When asked to choose just one chapter from A Sand County Almanac, my first idea was to look in the section about the fall. When reading the chapters about Fall, the one that struck a chord was the chapter about October. I chose this section because it really seemed to paint a picture that reminded me of what the fall is like. In Smoky Gold , the writer discusses hunting for birds. This is defiantly something that I associate with the month of October. In Too Early, the author discusses what a person who chooses to go out into the wild before dawn can witness. In Red Lanterns, the author discusses a pheasant hunt. All of these readings give a feeling of fall. They reflect the month for which they were entitled and they help to paint a picture of what I believe fall is. That is why I chose to write about this specific section of A Sand County Almanac. The first section of this chapter is called Smoky Gold. In this section of the chapter, the writer discusses grouse hunting. He states that few people are aware of the grouse population in Adams County. He goes on to say that most hunters speed on through to the counties farther north. He smiles as he sits in the tamaracks and listens to sounds of these other hunters speeding by. The point he is trying to make here is that there can be beauty in many places; you just have to take the time to slow down and experience this beauty. The hunters that speed by are on their way to hunt in another place. This is most likely a place they have been before. They are used to doing things the same way and they do not take the time to try anything new. If they would slow down, they may come to discover that what they are looking for can be found in Adams County. Section two is called Too Early. Ava missed, and in the seconds intervening the scene unfolded as if in slow motion before my eyes. The pointed bolt, it s false feathers guiding it s course, parted the darkening fog as it tore through the air. A whistling sound could be heard before the wet thump of the arrow colliding with young flesh. The head of the arrow pierced Gloria s thigh with a sickening sound not unlike that of a rabbit pounding it s foot against marshy soil. Her face contorted in agony, her hand unclasped around the arrows, and she fell sideways, her knees buckling, against the tree. Tears rushed to her eyes and she released a blood boiling banshee shriek. Her mother stood at the doorway a second later, and in no time at all was bounding across the frozen December earth to her daughter s side in stocking feet. Gloria! Gloria are you alright! Blood was seeping from the wound and congealing on the leg of her pants. Ava. Jane. Inside, now. We obeyed. The mother lifted her daughter into her arms and rushed past us into the house. Inside she carefully removed the bolt and them her daughter s pants, dabbing peroxide on a cotton swab and laying it over the wound. She tore her shirt into thick strips and wrapped them tightly around Gloria s leg. Blood poured from the puncture, soaking the new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Libation Bearers and Hamlet The Libation Bearers and Hamlet Many of Shakespeare s plays draw from classical Greek themes, plot and metaphors. The tragedies of Sophocles, Aeschylus, Euripides and Homer have themes like royal murders, assassinations by near relatives, the supernatural, ghostly visits, and vengeful spirits of the dead themes which reappear in Shakespeare s tragedies with a difference. Shakespeare s tragic hero Hamlet and Aeschylus s Orestes have a great deal in common. Both the plays are set in a time when the society is going through transition. In Orestia gods are changing. Furies turn into Eumenides or the Pacified Ones. Social and political norms are changing. The old laws of revenge and retribution have to be re established. Similarly Hamlet s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both the tragic heroes are troubled by supernatural visits and nightmares. Both have ethical and moral dilemmas , nevertheless, Hamlet is much more scholarly and agonized than Orestes who better fits in the robe of a Classical Greek revenge hero. Jessica Price observes: An onslaught of tragic elements appear in both Hamlet and The Oresteia. Hamlet s hamartia in William Shakespeare s Hamlet leads to his succumbing to corruption and his eventual demise. In The Oresteia by Aeschylus, Orestes hamartia takes a slightly different course, causing him to stumble, but not completely fall. While Orestes never indulges in long existential speeches or philosophical thinking Hamlet delays the action in his endless quest for a right answer. Hamlet is not faced with the terrible commitment of killing his own mother. He has to kill his uncle to whom one is not as dearly related as a son is to his mother. Still he does not consider it right to kill his uncle on an apparitions command. He puts him to test to affirm what his father s ghost said. He arranges a play based on the actual event of king s murder to be performed before his uncle and mother and note their responses to it. Even after his suspicion is validated he cannot bring himself round to kill his uncle. He wants to heal what has been hurt, make right what is wrong, do the justice but deep inside he does not want to kill Claudius. Orestes, on the other hand, right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Financial Risks The successful management of financial institutions (FIs) demands an understanding of the relevant structures, operations, and the associated risks. In particular, the assessment of the risks is necessary to make the appropriate steps to maintain the solvency of FIs (Saunders Cornett, 2007). One of the steps involves the application of off balance sheet (OBS) activities. OBS refers to the properties of the FI which are considered assets, but which do not feature in the balance sheets and thus are not used in balancing the ledger (at most, they may appear at the bottom of the balance sheet). OBSs are extremely useful since they often assist in leveraging the commercial banks in times of crisis, especially when the financial markets are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The operations also include future contracts, structured in such a way so as to execute organized exchanges that involve payment for assets at a later date (Saunder Cornett, 2016). Finally, the OBS items include commitments, guarantees, and other derivative financial instruments that sometimes serve as significant sources of revenue for the commercial banks (Papanikolaou Wolff, 2014). Furthermore, an off balance sheet item can move onto the balance sheet after the agreed conditions are met. For instance, when the accepted obligations are met by the parties involved in the transaction, the OBS assets transform into the balance sheet assets, hence moved accordingly (Bučková, 2012). The future contracts are therefore terminated, valid from the moment when the pre requisite conditions are met. In most cases, the OBS items are joined to the credit risks. More importantly, the derivative instruments are introduced into the balance sheet in their real values, but reflected in the OBS in their nominal values (Bučková, 2012). Finally, it is vital to assess the risk of the particular OBS item before implementing it. Nevertheless, an accurate evaluation of any OBS activity and its risk implications is an extremely difficult process since every separate OBS item possesses complex contingent claim ... Studies from Business insider claims that school are trying to limit creativity by forcing classes that are little to no interest to students. Those who ponder the idea about what is truly creative are individuals who can be reason with. The art of creativity is one s own perspective; what one accepts as ludicrous other might believe to be brilliant. A ted talk by Sir Ken Robinson s proven this statement by using a child who fidgets a lot as an example of how most saw her as ill, but actually she s a talented dancer who later on became a prodigy in ballet. If they had, life threatening situation like being trapped in a hospital, or trying to escape from a slumbering wouldn t be as challenging. The Baudelaire children are a prime example of how endless classes can all be useless if your ability to adapt are adequate. If they even spend a fraction of their studying time for a creative class, then their lives wouldn t always be in danger and fending for themselves in reality would be easier. When Count Olaf trapped them inside a burning hospital, voilet didn t notice and came up with a plan last second that almost costed her sibling their lives. If they ve been taught that a creative class, violet wouldn t have hesitated and her sibling would not have to risk their lives while escaping. Additionally, when the Baudelaire were trying to decipher a code from their friends, about where they are being kept prisoner when they ve been captured by Count Olaf, if they had taken a class on creativity then the code would of been a simple to them due to how its just basically a riddle. Unfortunately, due to the fact that they ve never had any prior knowledge of expanding their mind beyond: memorizing date for a class, remembering formulas, or learning names, failure is inevitable.
