2. Plato and the Republic Essay
The Sun of Knowledge:
Platonic Epistemology as Discussed in The Republic
The history of philosophy can be viewed as the result of the work of an obscure Athenian whose
voluminous works, penetrating questions, novel ideas, and didactic teachings have shaped the flow of
nearly all philosophic thought. It has been said that the influence of the ancient Greek philosopher
named Plato has laid the foundation for Western culture. Plato was born to an aristocratic family in
Athens in 428/427 B.C. As a young man, Plato studied poetry, but later under the tutelage of the
famed Socrates, turned to philosophy, who introduced him to the ethical importance of the pursuit of
wisdom. Plato was also influenced by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the purpose of this essay to give an analysis of Plato s theory of the cause of knowledge in the
idea of the good through his illustration of the sun and determine how his theory relates to his question
of justice.
The Forms
Plato in the Republic assumes the reader has an understanding of his doctrine of the forms, thus an
introduction to his doctrine is imperative before a discussion of his illustration of the sun can begin.
Plato was an idealist, meaning that ideas comprise what is ultimately real in this world. This is
antithetical to his student Aristotle who held that material was ultimately real. The Renaissance painter
Raphael illustrates these two contrasting positions in his famous painting The School of Athens.
Raphael depicts Plato with his arm stretched out, pointing to the sky (implying that ideas are real), and
Aristotle with his hand spread, pointing down to the earth (implying that material is real).
For Plato, ideas, or forms, are intelligible, distinct, eternal patterns of which the objects on earth are
mere reflections. Each object on earth has a corresponding form. For example, there is a single form
of a chair, and all other chairs (whether three legged or four, metal or wood) are flawed copies of the
ultimate, changeless form of the chair. Plato is concerned with the nature of existence. What is the
substance of

The world around us has many current issues that relate one way or another to family and consumer
science. I recently read an article written by Joan R. McFadden and Kay T. Rawson Swan, entitled
Women During Midlife: Is It Transition or Crisis? . The article talked about how women go through
the different stages of menopause also known as mid life crisis to some. With a mid life crisis it is
stated to involve a feeling of loneliness, a period of wanting to find one s self in the world, a time to
reinvent yourself, to live outside of a woman s everyday life style, and to experience changes in health
and family roles. For many women these statements are said to be true, but not all women are the
same. Within the article it states that statistics

4. Benefits Of Physical Exercise For Health
Declining physical activity is surprising because in the West, it is often believed that many people do
exercise. It is true that sports circles and newspaper articles devoted to the benefits of physical
exercise for health are more numerous than ever but, overall, the information related to the usefulness
of physical activity seem not lead to behaviour change (O Brien et al 2015). Sedentary lifestyles have
serious consequences for public health. In particular, in recent years, obesity is increasing dramatically
throughout the European Region. Obesity, which is not simply a matter of appearance, causes serious
diseases and significantly increases the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (O Brien et al
2015). Surveys in various countries of the European Region show low levels of physical activity in
many populations. Physical activity seems to be disappearing. We travel by car more than ever, take
care jobs increasingly sedentary and spend our leisure by spending less and less energy. Due to
technical progress, even the simplest tasks are mechanized and there is no need to strain to survive (O
Brien et al 2015). The fitness and sports is a global social phenomenon, recognized by all. It is clearly
growing from a few years worldwide, especially in Europe, America and Asia, comprising all sport
activities carried out in gyms. From one point of view it is comparable to the process of hatching and
development of modern sport in the 2nd half of the twentieth century.

5. Why Plastic Bags Should Be Banned
Banning Plastic Bags
The plastic bag is an innovative invention all around the world. It makes the world more convenient
and because of this convenience, the plastic bag is multi purposeful and is used widespread such as in
stores, houses, restaurants, etc. However, the problem is that a lot of people do not know that plastic
bags have many harmful effects. First of all, plastic bags cause environmental damages, and produces
cataclysmic events in wildlife. For example, plastic bags become litter after they are found in
waterways, parks, beaches, and streets. Plastic bags also effect air when burned, infusing the air with
toxins. Something that many may not think about when they think of plastic bags is the harmful
effects it brings to the animals. The death of countless animals such as dolphins, turtles, penguins, etc.
is due to the production of plastic bags. The ocean is home to thousands of species and ocean wonders
but there is so often trash thrown into the sea that disrupts the life beneath the water. Those animals
ingest plastic bags and ultimately die, while another animal comes back and eats that dead animal
which results in a chain reaction that is going to come back around and bite humans back. The public
should realize that plastic bags have adverse effects, and those effects will be worse than the
convenience of using a plastic bag.
Plastic bags produce environmental pollution. People need to reduce the use of plastic bags in order to
save the environment. This

Grammar is a concept that is used in writing, speaking and even reading; it describes a language and
can be different depending on the location of a person. Grammar is affected by the dialect that a
person speaks. I have chosen the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins to focus on various
grammar topics and build a better understanding of some topics. This book is one that examines the
life of families in twelve districts, all of which are currently living their lives at different paces and in
different styles. Twice a year two people are chosen to come forward and attend the Hunger Games ,

10. A Report From Unesco Of A Good Education For Girls Essay
Dr. Martin Luther King once said no one is free until we are all free . This idea sounds very simple,
but it lays a profound message to many different events and issues that are happening around us,
including many big challenges to the world such as racial and ethnic discrimination. However, there is
a sub issue to those challenges that we rarely think of it as a discrimination girls education. By
investing in a good education for girls all over the world teaching them how to empower themselves,
we are contributing to eliminate discrimination and empower the world.
A report from UNESCO in October 2013 shows some shocking statistics about girls and women
around the world. There are 1.8 billion young people in the world. Approximately half of them 900
million are adolescent girls and young women, but 62 millions girls worldwide are not in school. As a
result, they lack the basic skills for work: Two thirds of the 774 million illiterate people in the world
are female. This will have some lifelong effects. Girls will face limited opportunities and choices in
the job market. They lack basic health knowledge and will be subjected to serious health risks, and
threatened by violence. They don t know about their basic rights, so their views and concerns are often
unheard. These three effects are enough to prove that girls are discriminated against as females
Therefore, if education is the key to their future, what doors can it open for those girls? They will be

12. Process Essay On How To Pitch A Four-Seam Fastball
Pitching is an artwork, the velocity, accuracy, and curve of the ball determines the success of a pitcher.
Just like every professional athlete in order to be a good player you have to know the fundamentals
such as, how to throw a pitch. In order to throw a pitch one has to follow three key steps: First, grip
the ball; afterward, get ready to throw a pitch; and finally, throw the pitch.
There are several ways to through a baseball, the various grips of the ball determines how your pitch
will curve whether it be diagonally, vertically or even horizontally. There are numerous grips, but the
most basic ones are the four seam fastball and curveball. In order to grip a four seam fastball, spread
the index and ring finger slightly, place the tips of the fingers barely over the laces of the ball, and use
the other fingers to hold the ball firmly. Four seam fastball is a pitch that provides for great location
and velocity. But if one feels the need to trick a batter and add more curve into a pitch, the curveball is
the best choice. In order to throw a curveball, place the index and middle fingers, close and tight next
to each other on the seams, and use the other fingers to grasp the ball firmly. Keep the ball inside the

In spring 2003, the Sudanese government promised land to Arab tribes who agreed to control the

16. Julius Caesar Persuasive Analysis
In Julius Caesar, Shakespeare s Brutus persuades the plebeians that killing Caesar was justified,
through constant interrogation appealing nationalism.. Brutus s constant interrogation creates the
connection that killing Caesar was justified and good to Rome. Brutus quickly yells the question Had
you rather Caesar were living, and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all freemen?
(III.ii.24 6). Brutus phrases the question this way he does in order to create an association in the
plebeians minds that if Caesar were alive, they would all be slaves. This creates a lose lose situation
for the plebeians, and deviates attention from the real problem. The constant rhetorical questions allow
Brutus to manipulate the crowd without outright stating it. It guides the plebeians to the same
conclusion, but allows them to believe they came up with the conclusion themselves. Many plebeians
would not have heeded his word if Brutus did not present the question the way he did, and remained
focused on the fact that Brutus killed Caesar. Brutus continues to interrogate the crowd, Who is here
so base that would be a bondman? If any, speak for him have I offended. Who is here so rude that
would not be a Roman? If any, speak for him have I offended. Who is here so vile that will not love
his country? If any, speak for him have I offended. (III.ii.30 6). Brutus poses the carefully calculated
question as a way to make the plebeians believe that that not only was the killing justified, but that if
you disagreed with the brutal killing, you were an enemy of Rome or not Roman. Brutus to beat his
ideas into the plebeians brains, not allowing them to think or speak out against him because of how he
phrased the question, forcing the crowd to hear, and eventually believe his words. Had Brutus not
phrased the question as he had done, the crowd could have realized that Caesar s death was just
senseless murder. Brutus uses appealing nationalism to charm the crowd into believing that it was
Rome, or Caesar, and that Brutus chose Rome. Brutus quickly yells to the crowd, If then that friend
demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer: not that I loved Caesar less, but that I
loved Rome more. (III.ii.21 4).

Employee can take advantage of this issue and create a legal issues and obstacles against Walmart.
Legal issues against Walmart have been brought up in many different states. Many states has a
minimum wage requirement that has to be followed by all the businesses in the state. One example is
the case Walmart Stores vs S.C. Savaglio, where a group of Walmart employees sued Walmart because
Walmart allegedly had violated California s meal period law (Cascio, 2010). Walmart lose $172
million dollars in the general and punitive damages. Not even a year after that, Walmart loses another
lawsuit in the state of Pennsylvania for forcing employees to work off the clock (Cascio, 2010).
The recommendation of the writer for Walmart is to get unionized so that Walmart can mitigate
possible litigation. Walmart then can save a lot of money and time in fighting against lawsuits coming
from their employees.
Union Benefits, Profits, and Bargain
Union benefits the employee by negotiating with their employer as a group to get a higher pays,
benefits, better hours, etc. Unionization process is done with employee agreement to agree to use
union in representing them in negotiation with employers. The Legal Basis to engage in union

18. The Public Enemy Genre Analysis
To define a film by a certain genre, there are several elements and signatures that a film will display in
order to signify its place amongst the genre. A film from the gangster genre is characterized by
violence and lawlessness of american capitalism and The American Dream. The short lived classical
era of the gangster genre in Hollywood is also greatly influenced by the production code which
manifested the iconic moral narrative of the gangster genre. William A. Wellman s 1931 film The
Public Enemy can be considered a film of the gangster genre when one examines the conflict with the
American dream, the rise and fall of the protagonist Tom Powers, as well as the visual storytelling
employed to support the narrative.

As a film, The Public Enemy explores this relationship between crime and the American dream
through Tom s journey as a bootlegger as he becomes increasingly more violent. This conflict and the
violence is ultimately the reason Tom must die at the end of the film.
Another element of the gangster genre that is seen in Wellman s film is the rise and fall trajectory of
the central gangster protagonist. In order to avoid glamorizing the life of a gangster and his perverted
American Dream, his crimes must be punished. This is a central element to any gangster film created
under the auspices of the production code. To obey the rules and regulation of the PCA, any gangster
in film will live a short but glamorous life..that reaffirms the audience s knowledge that in Hollywood,
lawlessness cannot go unpunished (Køhlert 857). The era under the PCA shaped the narrative of the
gangster genre to include the death of essentially every gangster protagonist. In one of the most
powerful scenes of the film, after Tom has taken revenge on the rival members, he stumbles, shot,
clutching his chest into the raining streets and gutter (The Public Enemy). He is alone, isolated by the
rain, and likely going to die. This is not a character the audience is supposed to sympathize with, and
this is exactly to goal of the gangster genre. After the audience has seen Powers rise through the world
of crime starting as a little boy

19. Summary Of The Poem Before I Got My Eye Put Out
In both of Emily Dickinson s poem she refers to her sight. In the poem, Before I Got My Eye Put Out,
it s about her lost of sight, but throughout the poem she has many metaphors about her lost of sight.
Like in the first stanza she s talking about how she liked and enjoyed her sight when it was good but
didn t appreciate it as much when she had it. Then in her other poem, We Grow Accustomed to the
Dark, it s saying how her sight is bad but she s getting used to the dark and can get around much easier
towards the end of the poem. In stanza four she is saying how the brave stumbles in the dark but learns
to walk properly. Finally the attitude of the poem, Before I got my eye put out, is kind of regretful
because she wasn t grateful for her sight when she had it but now regrets that. In the poem, We grow
accustomed to the dark, the speaker shows perseverance when she talks about trying and trying to get
used to the dark and adjust to it. In this poem, Before I got my eye put out, the speaker is talking about
how she misses her sight in the first stanza saying, Before I got my eye put out I liked as well to see...
this shows that she liked her vision. Then says, ...And know no other way, I think this means that she
knows no other way to see like she used to before. This means that she regrets not appreciating her
eyes as much and realizes that when she loses her sight. Then in stanza four she says, The motions of
the dipping birds the morning s Amber road for mine to look at when I liked... In this part the speaker
is saying how she used to see the dipping birds and amber roads but now that her sights isn t as good
she misses all of that. After all of the images she misses seeing she says, The news would strike me
dead, she was shocked and very sad about the news. Then in the poem, We grow accustomed to the
dark, the speaker talks about how she s slowly getting used to the dark. At first she s talking how she
need the neighbors lamp light to help her find her way. Then explains how the first steps she was
uncertain of and her vision will adjust to the dark and help her walk straighter. Then in stanza four she

appeared delicate and urgent. On March 12, 1947, Truman addressed Congress and unveiled the
Truman Doctrine, which pledged American support to free peoples in their fight against totalitarian
regimes, including $400 million to help Greece and Turkey (808). Congress approved his proposal and
tried to facilitate America s self appointed role as global policeman by passing the National Security

21. Persuasion Techniques in the Workforce Essay
What is the most influential way of speaking that anyone can use that can change one s belief in a
matter of a few minutes? The techniques of persuasive language can alter the mind of anyone almost
subliminally. The use of such techniques such as rhetorical questions, humor, parallelism, or
exaggeration can change the mind even the most swayed believer. Good persuasive techniques are
often used in the work force through various instances. People who practice law or are car salesman
often find themselves using the effective persuasive techniques to convince others that their idea is the
only capable of being correct.

Loaded words are sometimes used by attorneys to make an action seem more important or serious
than they really is. For an example, if someone steals an object from someone else, and it is put as, the
perpetrator deprived the victim s freedom by taking a prized possession that meant so much to him,
the incident is blown to a large proportion they may or may not be as serious as it is put. When jurors
receive loaded words, the real information is sometimes hidden or lost, which satisfies the goal of the
speaker, or in this a case, an attorney. Humor is sometimes used by lawyers to make the situation seem
lighter or less serious than the situation really is. If the lawyer makes the situation seem less important,
the listeners, or the jurors, can be effectively swayed into looking at the situation from a different
perspective. The use of persuasion in the law profession takes great skill and practice in order to be
used effectively. Although the persuasion used by attorneys are necessary for their profession, it is the
persuasive techniques used that make them look like liars or cheaters all because they make their
living by proving others wrong.

Pride is the parent of destruction; pride eats the mind and the heart and the soul alive. Anne Rice. In
this story we learn how ruthless pride can be on oneself and how it pushes you to do things that are
terrible. The victim of pride here is the narrator who has a brother named Doodle that was born
disabled so the narrator does everything in his power to make Doodle normal even if it means death.
In fact death of Doodle is the result we get and it is the narrator s fault because he overworked him, he
left him in the storm, and the fact that he never even loved Doodle in the first place. One of the
reasons the narrator was responsible for killing Doodle was because he overworked him. The narrator
didn t want a brother that couldn t do what others could do so he worked and worked him until he

Summary
To investigate cableways and design an efficient vertical transportation system for goods, in the hilltop
communities of Nepal.
My research established an understanding of existing cableway technology and explored a practical
engineering improvement for adaptation in developing countries. I identified that engineering, a topic
of personal interest, should be the field of research considered. A discussion with university students
was completed to find a specific issue that I could investigate. One topic suggested for investigation
from the EngineersWithoutBorders Challenge, inspired the research question.
The outcome format, a report, discussed my key findings and recommendations including; the nature
of cableways, influence of local topography, and constraints of existing technology. The majority of
my secondary sources were reports written by academics or aid organisations, found on the web.
Emailed questionnaires and personal interviews provided critical information and practical critique of
the design outcome. Analysis of findings combined with creative thinking enabled a resolution of the
research question. This was presented in the form of a proposed design at the conclusion of the
outcome report.

24. Tips For Buying The Right Golf Glove
Tips for Buying the Right Golf Glove
The golf glove is an important component in the whole golfing setup because it provides a tackier
grip, which helps prevent club twisting when taking a swing or shot. Majority of golfers also wear
gloves to protect their hands from blisters, calluses and elements such as the sun and rain. Golf gloves
are made from three main types of material; synthetic, leather and hybrid material. A high quality
leather glove promises ultimate comfort because it is soft and pliable while a glove made from
synthetic material is more durable, flexible and cheap. Synthetic gloves are cheaper largely because
they do not breathe as well as leather made gloves. Hybrid gloves, on the other hand, are mostly made
from real and synthetic leather.
Hybrid gloves are popular because they aptly combine the benefits of true leather and synthetic
materials to guarantee comfort and firm grip. Because of increased competition, the best golf gloves
are marketed with features and functionalities like premium Cabrera leather, excellent fit and use of
micro vent material for enhanced breathability. The other types of golf gloves in the market include all
weather gloves, thermal gloves and golf mitts. The challenge amateur and professional golfer s face
when buying gloves is choosing a product that will work for them without compromising quality. This
decision is usually influenced by a number of factors, key among them personal preference, budget,
material and level of

Social Security Trust v. Privatization
Debates over Social Security have been ongoing since its inception in 1935 until today. The trend

even improve benefits. However, the trend towards privatization of Social Security is also on the rise.
What is not clear is whether Americans favor privatization because of fears that the Social Security

The North was extremely hard. Many houses were 10 to 20 miles apart, which meant slaves had to

very helpful underground railroad. The North Korean Underground Railroad is a horrendous path
across China that leads to South Korea. It is a treacherous path because China sends about 200 North
Korean refugees back to North Korea each day. As soon as North Koreans are sent back, they either
end up in jail, in a prison camp or are killed. Similar to white people helping African American slaves
escape to freedom, many Chinese and South Korean people try and help North Koreans escape as
well. China does not want refugees to live in their country. Surprisingly, 300 thousand North Korean
refugees live in China because they managed to escape. Along the dangerous journey through China,
there are houses and helpers for those escaping North Korea. It is a shame that some people and
countries are afraid to help North Koreans because of all the powerful weapons that North Korea has

Introduction
The definition of a gang crime by the law enforcement officials takes two dimensions but they employ
one of the definitions in order to measure and tackle this problem in the society. The first definition
considers gang related all crimes committed by individuals who belong to a particular gang without
regard to the circumstances surrounding such crimes or the nature of the offense. This therefore is a
member based definition of gang crime. Another but more restrictive definition is that a gang crime is
committed if and when such occurs as part of the function of a gang or for the benefit of the gang and
therefore is strictly gang motivated. Based on the evidence that gang motivated crimes constitute more

The Internet, as we all know, has rapidly spread around since its commercialization in the 1990s. It is
evident that cybersecurity attacks are not going anywhere, and that government will continue to
remain a target. In addition, the Internet of Things (IoT) growth will lead to more devices being
connected to the networks. Therefore, with technology moving forward and hackers being more
motivated as ever, the government finds itself struggling to keep up with effective cybersecurity
measures and with filling up the designated positions in the Cybersecurity department. On May 11,
2017, our new President, Donald Trump, issued a new Executive Order 13800, to the Nation s
capabilities and be able to mitigate cybersecurity threats (The White ... Show more content on

Another thing the government should be focusing on is to stop buying on cyber technology from other
countries and start relying on cyber technology done in the U.S. By relying on technology from other
countries, it makes us a target therefore, placing us at more risk. Why? Because they might know or
have an idea in which areas we are lacking based on the technology that we buy from them. As far as
we know, they might have a hidden agenda on how and when to attack. Don t get me wrong the
government already follows this policy to some extent but they should try use it more. As I said
before, these are all great goals for the next few years but what has been done since this new EO was
established? In August 2017, the SecurityScoreCard Security Research Team released the analysis
done on 552 local, state and federal government organizations. They found that the government was
lagging on replacing outdated softwares, patching, individual endpoint defense and IP address
activities that showed that they may have been compromised (SSC Research Team, 2017). These are
all vulnerabilities that if worked on, would fix most of the problems in the government. Which bring
my next issue. According to Senator John McCain (2017), Leadership from the executive branch has
been weak He also said, While, the current administration promised a

40. Problem Of Cyberbullying In The United States
Cyberbullying has become a prevalent problem over the past decade in the United States. This is due
to the radical updates in technology and the easy access that teens have to these electronic resources.
Whether at school, a local coffee shop, or in their own home, teens can gain access to computers, and
are able to use them for cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place online or through
any electronic device such as a computer or cellphone. There are many different ways to bully
someone through these devices. This includes text messages, emails, direct messages on social media,
comments on social media profiles, and much more. From 2010 2011, 1 million children reported
being harassed, threatened, or subjected to other forms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some schools have considered getting surveillance companies to install software on the school s
computers in order to supervise student s activity while at school. This would help to prevent the act
of cyberbullying and many other inappropriate uses of school computers. Another good idea is to
block certain websites from the school computers so that even if the student tries to break the rules,
the computer system will not allow them to complete the task. These are simple solutions that could
end a huge problem (Mendola,

41. Analysis Of The Poem F.w De Klerk Fixing A Broken Land
F.W de Klerk: Fixing a Broken Land
Sea and Sand
My love
My land,
God bless Africa
Sea and sand
My love
My land,
God bless Africa
But more the South of Africa
Where we live...
Bless the angry mountains
And the smiling hills
Where the cool water spills
To heal the earth s brow
Bless the children of South Africa
The white children
And the black children
Who lost the sea and the sand
That they may not lose love
For white children
Whose fathers raped the land...
Sea and sand
My love
My land,
God bless Africa
(The land and People of South Africa) This piece of art is written by a South African poet by the name
of Don Mattera. This poem embellished the distress and hardship that South Africa and the people of
this unique and beautiful land had to go through during the times of Apartheid. During these tragic
times of separation people of South Africa, that were against this racial segregation, stood up for their
rights through many ways such as poetry and petition. Others, such as F.W de Klerk expressed his
dislike for this cruel act of disconnection through politics and made it his goal to make South Africa
racially equal and whole. During apartheid in South Africa F.W de Klerk took a stand to fight for
human rights through tough times of racial separation to equality by ending apartheid.
Apartheid was a government system that South Africa used from the years 1948 to 1994 ( Frederik
Willem De Klerk ). The word apartheid means separateness which is exactly what the government
wanted
43. Reflection On Issues And Ethics
Issues and Ethics: Reflection Paper Assignment
Fareeha Ikram
Ethical Dilemma:
1. You are working with a man who has a history of suicide attempts and has been hospitalized on
more than one occasion. He tells you that he has found it very hard to get help in the past, because
whenever he tells a counselor he is feeling suicidal they immediately call for help and he is
hospitalized. He tells you that at those times he really just needs someone to talk to and wishes he
could find a counselor he could confide in when he is feeling suicidal who would not call an
ambulance and seek psychiatric help for him. He is a very high risk for suicide given his past attempts
and frequent thoughts that include a detailed plan. He tells you that he wants to tell you something but
is worried about how you will react. He wonders if he can tell you and if you can promise that you
will just help him and not involve emergency services, if you cannot make that promise he will not tell
you.
Part A
1. Step One: Identify the problem
The presenting problem is that as the counselor to a man with a history of suicide attempts and
hospitalization, I m in a situation where he has asked me to promise to not report any information he
confides in me to emergency services.
The major participant in this situation is the man as his life and safety are at risk, given his troubling
history, and as the counselor, it is my responsibility to help and support him. Therefore, I must use this
8 step ethical decision making model to decide the best course of action to solve this ethical dilemma.
2. Step Two: Identify the potential issues involved
The issues involved are ethical and legal. First of all, choosing to remain quite in this situation can be
a form of enabling, but it will respect the client s promise. But, if I were to report this to emergency
services, I would be violating the client s confidentiality and his trust. This is a moral and ethical
issue. This issue is also legal in nature because while counselors must maintain confidentiality, as per
certain provincial and territorial laws, there is a duty to protect/warn/inform in case of imminent
danger to the client, even when it is inflicted by one s own self.

1. Who should be held accountable for the factory that killed hundreds of people in Bangladesh? Is it
sufficient to arrest the building owner, or should the companies that buy from the factories face
consequences as well?
The stakeholders who should be accountable for the factory fire are the Western retailers that source
from the factory, Bangladesh Government and the factory building owner who leased or rented the
building. The companies that buy the goods from the factories should also be held accountable for
reasons such as:
Exploiting the cheap labor to earn high profits
Turning a blind eye on the working conditions and the worker safety

The labor laws in Bangladesh indeed should be strengthened like those in the U.S. to prevent such
incidences at work.
4. Some people have called for a boycott of garments produced in Bangladesh. Do you agree with this
recommendation? If retailers boycott the factories to ensure their compliance with basic levels of
safety, what happens to the people who work in those factories? Consider your response using a
utilitarianism perspective.
I don t think boycotting garments made in Bangladesh will solve the problem. A boycott of garments
from Bangladesh would increase unemployment, considering the dependency of the country, and its
people in garment manufacturing industry. This could result in an increase in the poverty level of the
country. Bearing in mind all the stakeholders, it may be advisable to increase the safety, hygienic and
compliance standards of these factories avoid disasters like the fire accident.
5. Oxfam claims that the wages paid to workers in the garment factories are far too low and should be
boosted significantly. Is Oxfam right? Is it a human rights violation to source goods from factories
where wages are so low? If higher wages are implemented what might happen to the

Differences in Marketing for B2C and B2B Sites

Differences in Marketing for B2C and B2B Sites
Introduction
Marketing in an electronic business/commerce (e business/e commerce) arena today is truly no
different than the ole ‘brick and mortar business. Business to business (B2B) and business to
consumer (B2C) sites need to have a crafty approach to implement marketing strategies and develop
an effective marketing plan to reach the intended (targeted) market. Thus, the mixing or blending of
the four Ps (product, place, price, and promotion) in such a way to attain both the business and target
market s goals and objectives is the key to success. The correct marketing mix, or blend, will help
both a B2B or B2C site ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the relationships that are developed between a B2C business and a consumer are
normally shorter in duration than the relationship between a B2B business and their customer

Business to Business (B2B)
Like B2C sites, B2B sites must also have a good understanding on the target market they are
attempting to reach, but B2B marketing is more focused on relationship building than transaction
building like B2C sites. Additionally, the business buyer is sophisticated, understands your product or
service better than you do, and wants or needs to buy products or services to help their company stay
profitable, competitive, and successful (http://www.vista consulting.com/marketing articles/b2b b2c
marketing.htm, 2006). Furthermore, the visitor to the B2B site might not be the actual buyer, but a
member of the decision making team. Thus, B2B sites must fulfill the needs of the ‘researcher who
may be just wanting to locate detailed information about the product, long term customer care, and the
financial stability of the B2B (Grove, 2005). And, in most cases, B2B site s target market is smaller
and well defined versus the B2C target market. For B2B sites, they are building their customer base on
long term relationships, trust, and commitments not on the number of

The first consideration of case study research method emerged around 1900, mostly within the
discipline of anthropology. From early accounts of journeys, systematic investigations of other
cultures in the form of field studies emerged, with participant observation as the predominant method
of data collection. Another source of case study methodology has been provided by descriptions of
individuals within medicine, social work and psychology, often called case work or case history . The
first generation of case studies culminated in the Chicago school of sociology, in which the

suggests we should not place too much weight on any one case, no matter how crucial it appears to be.
Second, the crucial case design assumes a narrow theory testing role for case studies, which, as we
have suggested, is often inappropriate for comparative politics. Third, crucial case studies involve a
risky bet on the results. If the findings run counter to expectations, we have learned nothing at all of
significance beyond the case. Suppose Michels has discovered, contrary to his expectations, that

52. The Commodity Chain Analysis On The Red Gold Spice
This commodity chain analysis focuses on the red gold spice: saffron. The spice is known to be more
expensive than gold, with high values at $2,000 per kilogram (Iran Daily). It high price has landed
saffron in the category of a luxury good . Although saffron is grown in many countries, the most
interesting saffron geographically is Iran. It s widely known that the value and cost of this particular
spice is connected to the strenuous labor of cultivation, but there are more explanatory variables that
contribute to the market price. Popular angles determining cost and value on commodities, such as a
labor and supply demand, are often discussed. This paper, however, will explore the political angle of
price determination. Due to a political agreement between major countries to place Iran on an
economic hold, Iran is forced to pursue alternative means of trade for many goods; trades of which
other saffron producing countries are not subjected to. The large distinction on how Iran exports its red
gold to a foreign consumer base affects the country s economy and the market price of saffron. Where
the cost and value grows during the commodity chains lifespan will be unraveled through the
production, marketing, and consumption. Cultivation Technology has created many opportunities for
agricultural purposes (actually google and copy/paste anem dash because isn t anything) however it
has yet to affect the harvesting of the most expensive spice in the world, saffron thin
