Analysis Of The Brain Is Wider Then The Sky
The poem The Brain is Wider Then the Sky by Emily Dickinson, written in 1862. Emily Dickinson
was a woman who never married. She lived with her parents in Amherst Massachusetts. Emily
believed in feminist. She came from a very church going family but as she got older she stopped going
to church. She was a very smart woman. She attended college at Amherst Academy. Her father was
the founder of Amherst Academy, which today is called Amherst College. Amherst college is still a
well know college in Massachusetts. Emily Dickinson started a book club involving multiple friends,
as well as her loving attentiveness to individuals in times of both suffering and joy. These inquiries
highlight her thoughts on love, marriage, gender roles, art, and death, while unraveling mysteries
ranging from legal discourse to Etruscan smiles. In addition to a foreword by Marietta Messmer, the
volume includes essays by Paul Crumbley, Karen Dandurand, Jane Donahue Eberwein, Judith Farr,
James Guthrie, Ellen Louise Hart, Eleanor Heginbotham, Cindy MacKenzie, Martha Nell Smith, and
Stephanie Tingley. One of Emily s favorite books was the bible. She referred back to the bible in a lot
of her work. The poem The Brain is Wider Then the Sky can be interpreted in many different ways. If
you have knowledge of Emily Dickinson back round you may interpret it differently than others who
do not know much about her life and upbringing. This poem is a four line stanza, most of her work
was. She would

The Importance Of Voter Voting In The United States
Despite popular opinion that the United States is the greatest democracy in the world, we have
shockingly low voter turnout compared to international standards (Desilver). A complicated
registration process and strict restrictions on voting consistently discourage and inhibit Americans
from exercising their right to vote. Despite this, lawmakers continue to push for and often pass
unnecessary legislation limiting the ways in which citizens can register and cast their ballot. Certain
demographics are the most likely to be hindered by this kind of legislation, including young people,
poor people, and people of color. Politicians often use claims of voter fraud as an excuse to
systematically hinder these marginalized groups from participating in the democratic process, despite
being unable to back up those claims with any kind of concrete evidence. The limiting of voting rights
for young and minority populations is often blatantly politically motivated. Continuing to pile
restrictions and obstacles onto our electoral process is not only unnecessary, it is contradictory to
democratic values. There should be a shift in the focus of voting legislation towards expanding the
ways in which citizens can participate in elections and away from limiting them, which would both
increase voter turnout and ensure that all people have an equal voice in our government.
Voter registration legislation being used as a tactic to disenfranchise minority voters has a long history

Freedom, And Freedom In The Shawshank Redemption
The Shawshank Redemption is a high quality film with many themes, that are going to be explored.
There are themes in any form of entertainment. But, the Shawshank Redemption is much different, in
that is so packed full of them, that there is no good place to start looking for them. For that matter,
there also is no right answer in which themes are the most important. Therefore, the Shawshank
Redemption s most important themes are freedom and confinement, transformation, and hope.
Freedom and confinement is the third most important theme in the movie, the Shawshank
Redemption. There are many aspects of the inmates talking about what freedom is like, and how they
are confined to Shawshank prison for a long time. In Shawshank they quite literally cannot do
anything they want, they have to ask for everything. This can be no better seen than when Captain
Byron Hadley said, You eat when we say you eat! You s*** when we say you s***! You p*** when
we say you p***! Not only is this line of thought present in a fictional prison, but also in real life.
There are TV shows out there that follow the cops of real life prisons, and real life prisoners do not
have much more freedom. Then again, all things considered, prisoners have some freedoms, mainly in
what they do during their yard times. The people who have it the worst, the one s who have it like the
quote, are the people who live under complete dictatorships. They cannot do anything, and I mean
anything without the consent of

The Old Testament Law And The Gospel
Church leaders have sought to define the relationship between the Old Testament Law and the Gospel,
while seeking to determine the applicability of Old Testament laws for Christian believers.
Unfortunately, a consensus among modern theologians remains unattainable, producing a spectrum of
views on the subject. Contention primarily arises over obedience to customary laws, principally the
requirement for Christians to observe the Sabbath. While brevity excludes a thorough examination of
the subject, this essay will laconically detail the relationship between the law and the Christian
believer, arguing (1) the Mosaic Law cannot be divided and categorized as some have suggested, and
(2) adherence to the Mosaic Law is not an obligation for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the Ten Commandments (Exod. 20:1 17) show an intermingling of moral laws (you shall not
murder) and ceremonial laws (remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy). Second, the New
Testament suggests continuity within the law (Gal. 5:3; James 2:10; Matt. 5:18), seemingly excluding
the possibility of division. Addressing this issue, theologian Douglas J. Moo concludes, ...in general, it
is notoriously difficult to know from the Old Testament itself which commandments should be placed
in the category of moral and therefore eternally binding in the form in which they were first given.
Jews in Jesus and Paul s day certainly did not divide up the law into categories; on the contrary, there
was a strong insistence that the law was a unity and could not be obeyed in parts. These considerations
suggest it is unreasonable to divide the Mosaic Law into categories, allowing for the abrogation of
some sections, while maintaining the validity and obligatory nature of others. Proponents suggesting
Christians must conform to moral laws, and some ceremonial laws (i.e. the Sabbath, but not sacrificial
offerings), must address these points and present a Scriptural basis for the division and categorization
of the Mosaic Law, before making the rest of their case.
Adherence to the Mosaic Law is not an Obligation for Christians Establishing that there is no basis for
arbitrary division and

Elton John Baldy s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
This renowned musical artist is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the album, Goodbye Yellow Brick
Road, Reginald Kenneth Dwight also known as Elton John. His music is a combination of soul, disco,
and country, as well as classic pop balladry and even progressive rock. October 5th ,1973 Elton s
album came out becoming a #1 hit on the charts for at least two months. Before Reginald changes his
name to Elton, he joined a band called Bluesology. In 1966, the bands name changed to Long John
Baldry s. Reginald left the band because of the way Baldry controlled the band. He went on to an
audition, which he failed. Although he failed the audition, he was given lyrics that were from Bernie
Taupin. Dwight wrote music for the lyrics given to him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason it changed is because Elton asked Bernie to and he saw no reason not to. Goodbye Yellow
Brick Road was based on childhood events of Taupin, which consisted of the first movie he saw, The
Wizard of Oz and growing up. Bernie wrote most of his songs about Elton but this particular song is
about him. The song was rumored to be about Judy Garland seeing that she starred in the Wizard of
Oz and the album art represents the Wizard of Oz. However, it was actually about Elton s fame and
fortune and to contrast of Bernie s attempts to remain low key while Elton s was be extravagant.
Bennie and The Jets is about a fictional band. Bennie is suppose to be a female character. Even though
the song has no substantial meaning it turned into one of the top hits in the album. The music for this
song was to represent glam rock . The lyrics originated from movies, comic books, and a German
photographer, Helmut Newton. The song was a hit on R B chart. Elton was proud of making the chart
due to that fact that he was influenced by many African American musicians. Since the song has no
meaning, Elton was shocked it became #1. Elton s producer, Gus Dudgeon, added crowd noise from
the Royal Festival Hall show to add a live feeling to the song. In addition, whistles were included
from a concert in Vancouver. In 1997, Elton played the song on the The Muppets Show. While playing

Implementing Job Analysis Components For Recruitment,...
Organizations have recently been investing greater capital and time into human resources seeing as it
impacts companies presently more than it has previously. With the focus on human resources,
companies can gain a competitive advantage by maintaining sustainability, as well as solving
challenges on a global and technological level. Second Dimension International (SDI) Marketing has
recently faced issues affecting their intangible assets that are detrimental to the company s
sustainability. Implementing job analysis components will aid in the resolution of problems associated
with recruitment, training, communication, and retention for SDI. SDI has been in operation for over
25 years, yet has gained sudden popularity within the past five ... Show more content on

As long as SDI continues to receive contracts from recognized companies, their economic growth will
continue to rise. However, the continuation of contracts will only be plausible if the issues and
subsequent recommendations presented will be initiated and executed. When a particular market or
industry experiences sudden growth, it is difficult for companies to immediately adapt to the changes
in order to be efficient and effective. With companies spending more of their capital on providing an
experience for their audience, SDI is a company who must adapt to these changes proficiently.
Unfortunately, there are still opportunities for the marketing firm to strengthen and grow. SDI s
intangible assets including human capital pose a threat to the company s sustainability, as they are
vital to a company s competitive advantage. The company s main drawback is their inability to
manage their talent in terms of attracting, retaining, and developing. This not only increases SDI s
recruitment and training costs but it also effects employee morale and engagement. Globalization is
now present now more than ever, as it is the international amalgamation of people, cultures, and
companies, derived from international exchanges mainly aided from technology. Globalization makes
it easier for companies to enter and compete in foreign markets. As a result of abundant competition, it
is crucial for companies to enter

Outcome1 Understand how to plan work and be accountable to others 1.1 Outline guidelines,
procedures codes of practice relevant to personal work
There are a number of guidelines and procedures in place to enable me to do my job not only to the
best of my ability but in a professional manner. Whilst on the reception area, there are procedures that
need to be followed relating to various aspects of the job including correct procedures to greet visitors,
answer the telephone, dealing with incoming and outgoing mail, booking meeting rooms aswel as
other procedures.
1.2 Explain the purpose of planning work, and being accountable to others for own work
Planning is fundamental to time management and involves organising and ... Show more content on

It also forms part of good business ethics and is good practice to keep people up to date at all times
when things change or need to be changed. Failing to do so can result in other peoples work plans
being out of sync.
1.8 Describe types of problems that may occur during work
The types of problems that may occur during my work are; * Computers crashing, * Work not getting
saved, * Power cut, * Photocopier runs out of toner and * Photocopier/Printer runs out of paper
All of these issues can be resolved very simply. Any technical fault that involves my computer should
be reported to uplands for them to put back right. Things like photocopier/printer running out of paper
I would just use knowledge to fill it back up with paper. If the paper gets jammed inside the printer I
would try and resolve it, if not I would let a member of staff know and see if they could help me with
it.
1.9 Describe ways of seeking assistance with getting help to resolve problems
If I am seeking assistance with getting help to resolve problems, I would just ask anyone of the
colleagues around me, if they couldn t help I would email/phone my tutor and ask her.
1.10 Explain the purpose and benefits of recognising and learning from mistakes
The purpose and benefits of recognising and learning from mistakes are so you don t make them again
and also to learn what you did wrong so it can be put right.

Individual Employees Should Be Protected From Penalties
I. Introduction
Individual employees should be protected from penalties with regard to sensitive data that has been
compromised/released. Since a majority of security breaches result from corporate culture, malicious
attacks, or glitches in the system, employees should be protected from misdirected penalization. Such
breaches may also stem from improper training of computer illiterate employees. With the many
factors involved in a data breach, a company will benefit more from providing a great employee with
proper safeguard procedures than from hiring a fresh employee, one just as likely to make such
mistakes.
II. Definitions and historical context
According to a study by Kim Lindros and Ed Tittel from CIO, 33% of data breaches are ... Show more

23,000 patient s records were stolen as a result of this security breach.
There are currently laws to protect employees who are whistleblowers, allowing lower level
employees to be protected if they talk about a security issue that could have been easily prevented
(OSC, 1970). These protections prevent the higher level employees from turning around and blaming
the lower level employee because they were the ones who let the breach be known. The laws don t
specifically talk about security breaches because they are still fairly new so laws and regulations are
still being developed for IT security.
Some attacks are impossible to stop, like a well done Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack as
Microsoft and Sony learned during Christmas of 2014. Both the Xbox Live and PlayStation Online
networks were taken down for a couple of days (Love, 2014), and the attacks were stopped only when
the attackers, Lizard Squad, was bribed into stopping by Kim Dotcom. The employees for both
companies were competent and did everything they could to stop the attacks, but with DDoS attacks,
data is not lost, and the server is just brought down making companies lose business. It is possible to
stop smaller scale DDoS attacks using certain tricks, but unless all of the IP addresses are banned, it is
almost impossible to

Sales and Employees
Nordstrom: Dissension in the Ranks?
(1) What problems does Nordstrom s evaluation/compensation system have? Think about this question
while considering the objectives of the company s evaluation/compensation system, what measures it
took, and what happened as a result. A. Nordstrom was renowned for its superior customer service that
was the result of the exceptional customer service efforts (or heroics ) put by their salespeople. So in
order to retain their competitive advantage of superior customer service in the highly competitive
retailing market, they designed a evaluation/compensation system that had the following objectives:
(1) To support its high service strategy, and (2) To motivate its sales employees. They tried to evaluate
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would also avoid helping their associates to keep them from getting the good SPH ratios. This
created a culture of cutthroat competition. (2) Poor differentiation of Selling and Non Selling time
There was a lack of clear differentiation of Selling and Non Selling time. Employees were not clear
about recording time spent in activities such as hand deliveries, merchandise preparation, sales
promotion and customer correspondence, etc. as Selling or Non Selling time. If they recorded it as
Non Selling work time, they were entitled to the guaranteed base wage with no effect in their SPH.
However, if they recorded it as Selling work time, their SPH would be low. The evidence of this
ambiguity in defining the Selling and Non Selling time is presented by the fact that the Nordstrom
family had to issue the Internal Memo Differentiating Selling vs. Non Selling Time amidst the labor
disputes crisis in mid 1989. (3) No evaluation/compensation service/satisfaction of work time related
to customer
There was no evaluation/compensation of work time related to activities for improving customer
service/satisfaction such as home deliveries, calling up valued customers

informing them of newly arriving merchandises, helping customers with their sales, writing thank
you notes, etc. So the system lacked in providing motivation for employees to perform such activities
and also did not compensate the employees

The Great Wave Book Review
The Great Wave by Christopher Benfey shows a glimpse of Old Japan and its fascinating artwork
around the time of the cultural tsunami in 1854 followed by the time of American Fascination. This
book is not so much a book on Japan, more or less it is a piece comparing the U.S. and Japan by
looking at topics like cultural and social aspects faced by both countries. Towards the latter half of the
book, Benfey really keys into aspects like Jiujutsu and martial arts along with forms of Japanese art
and the idea of expressing ones spirit. The first portion of the latter half of the book discusses a key
question in identifying who is Lafcadio Hearn? The first idea that comes to mind after reading about
Hearn is that he is old fashioned. He liked the crumbling wooden houses, the Spanish relics and
French architecture (Pg. 214). From how I understood reading about Mr. Hearn is that he is a very old
fashioned man who loves the old fashioned ways. It talks about his joy for the antique art of Nippon
and their colors and patterns (Pg. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

because of his time spent on in while in presidency (Pg. 241). Roosevelt was taught by Mr. Kano was

makes Roosevelt s perception of Japan much better because he has always been a man of action and
purpose and this fighting style is exactly that. When Hearn wrote Japan has won in her Jiujutsu, he
mean t that even though the arts nor virtues have been gained for them, they have obtained a display
of new scientific powers of aggression and destruction (Pg. 261). Basically, even though they still lack
on a few aspects within their country, they have developed a top of the line fighting style that

The Mesozoic Era
Introduction
The Mesozoic Era began around 250 million years ago and ended 65 million years ago. It is divided
into three different periods, The Triassic, The Jurassic and The Cretaceous. In the Mesozoic Era Earth
was extraordinaly different from what it is now. The climate was humid and tropical, the sea levels
were constantly changing and even the shape of the Earth s continents were different (Benson et al,
2010). The land was dominant by the dinosaurs but the oceans were populated by more rich and
diverse marine reptiles. There were more than a dozen different groups of marine reptiles in the
Mesozoic era, these groups contained pelagic and coastal predators and coastal herbivores. The three
main predators of the oceans were the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Late Triassic period they reached their highest diversity, they became more advanced and
specalized, making them one of the top Marine predators. Ichthyosaurs over time evolved to have
streamlined, fish shaped bodies and large heads. They also evolved to have thicker bodies and a
thicker backbone which meant they swam more with a convergent motion (Callway, 1997). They had
the largest eyeballs (up to 264mm in diameter), of all vertebrates which were supported by a ring of
sclerotic bones, these eyes were adapted to help them find prey in low light environments (Motani,
2009). Ichthyosaurus also had large ear bones, scientists believe this was an adaptation that allowed
them to locate their prey by listening for their arrival through the water . This adapation was also a
useful way for them to listen for predators that may be approaching (Fisher et al, 2016). The most
distinguishable feature of their body plan was the presence of the caudal fin and the dorsal fin which
was formed of stiff tissue, not bone. The first whole fossil of an Ichytosaur was discovered 200 years
ago by Mary Anning on the Jurassic coast of Dorset at Lyme Regis. Mary Annnings brother, Joseph
found the skull of an Ichthyosaur in 1811 between the cliffs at Lyme Regis and Charmouth but failed
to find the rest of it. Mary went out found the remainings of this fossil a year later, she found the rest
of the fossil at Lyme Regis. This fossils skull was around 1 meters long and the whole

Magnesium And Hydrochloric Acid Lab Report
On November 3, 2017, I conducted an experiment with the purpose of measuring the heat in a reaction
between a mixture of Magnesium and Hydrochloric Acid (HCI). While being mixed, the reaction can
either release or obtain more energy in an excessive manner. The surrounding environment then can
give a measure of the amount of heat energy, and in this case the surrounding environment is a
calorimeter. A calorimeter is a tool that is able to isolate the reaction from its surroundings, and is a
very essential part of the lab. One must be careful when conducting this experiment so that the
calorimeter can successfully retain the energy so the results will be as accurate as possible.
There are two possible reactions that can occur during an experiment. The first one is an endothermic
reaction, which is when there is a flow of heat coming into the reaction. When this happens, it will be

Florence Kelley Speech Rhetorical Analysis
In America, there used to be unfair laws and regulations regarding labor. Children are put to work in
harsh conditions, conditions often deemed difficult even for adults, and are forced to work ridiculous
hours. Florence Kelley gave a speech at the National American Woman Suffrage Association in
Philadelphia on July 22, 1905. In her speech, Kelley uses repetition, pathos, imagery, logos, and
carefully placed diction to express how child labor is morally wrong and inhumane. In her opening
paragraphs, Kelley uses an antistrophe to emphasize the increase of young girls in the work force. She
said, Men increase, women increase, youth increase, boys increase... (ln 10 14).She uses this to point
out that all these groups increased, but the amount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She places a feeling of guilt on her audience, but calls them to action. She said, Tonight while we
sleep, several thousand little girls will be working in textile mills, all the night ... spinning and
weaving cotton and wool silks and ribbons for us to buy (ln 18 22). She faults herself and her audience
for sitting idly by while children are working in the middle of the night in harsh conditions.
Furthermore, she continues to guilt the audience by stating that all the work these children are doing
are for products that the audience will buy. In lines 59 61, Kelley attacks a bill that was removed that
protected fourteen year old girls from working all night. This condemns her opposition as shameful.
Kelley tries to unite her female audience against the great evil (ln 64 65) that is child labor. She
believes that the suffrage of women will free children from the cruel nature of their working
conditions. Florence Kelley uses the rhetorical strategies of repetition, pathos, imagery, logos, and
carefully placed diction to express how child labor is morally wrong. Her vivid and strong
descriptions garner sympathy from her Philadelphia audience. Her use of diction expresses how the
audience is to be blamed equally for the cruelty and inhumane nature of child labor. She is able to spur
her audience and call them to action against the evil of child labor. For the sake of the children... and
their cause (ln 92 94), Kelley expresses that

golden yellow color does not reflect sunshine rays or happiness but rather a crucial survival skill of
these golden dart frogs. A vacation to the Amazonian rainforest should be done in caution, avoiding
these brightly colored frogs. Because this species of frogs has become endangered, an experiment

Gaalema performed the experiment Sexual Conditioning in the Dyeing Poison Dart Frog to increase
the rate of reproduction among these endangered frogs. 38 dart frogs including 19 males and 19
females were put into pairs and separated into three different groups (Gaalema 8). The three groups
included a control group that received no conditioning, an experimental group that received an active
control conditioning, and another experimental group that received experimental conditioning
(Gaalema 8). In the experimental condition, a green LED light would flash for approximately 90
second intervals followed by a 120 second interval of interaction between the opposite sex paired
frogs (Gaalema 9). The LED lights were used as a conditional stimulus and the presentation of the
opposite sex frog was used as an unconditional stimulus (Gaalema 9). The active control group was
not consistently exposed to the green LED light and the opposite sex frogs, as was the experimental
group (Gaalema 9). The frogs were being trained to see the unconditional stimulus and then know that
it is time to breed upon arrival of the opposite sex frog (Gaalema 9). After the training period, the
experimenter did testing trials to see if the frogs had been conditioned to the stimuli (Gaalema 9). The
training period consisted of both the experimental groups receiving the green LED light (conditional
stimulus) for 90 seconds followed by presentation of opposite sex frogs that remained for five days
instead of 120 seconds (Gaalema 9). The control group testing was identical to that of the
experimental groups but no flashing green LED lights were used in the control group (no conditional
stimulus) (Gaalema 9). Throughout the testing time period, the frogs tank was checked for the
production of eggs twice a day (Gaalema

My Special Event Speech
On Monday, I gave my special occasion speech. I would have to say that I was most nervous for this
speech and really I don t know why. The topic I believe was a little harder because you did not have as
strict of an outline that you could speak on. We could really pick any topic that had to do with a
special occasion. I know for me it took a lot of thinking to decide which one I wanted to do and the
one I did choose still felt awkward. Having such broad speech choice also made it hard for many
people in the class including me to make the time requirement. I would say that the time was my
largest fault for this speech. Some of the other problems that I had during my speech was that I did not
go into a great deal of detail on the husband and not going into much fun detail on anything else. I left
most the speech pretty broad in the way that I only really told one story. If I were to do the speech
again I would come up with much more to say about each person and why they are so perfect for each
other. The topic I choose was doing a maid of honor speech for my sister. It did feel really awkward to
do a speech about her because any inside joke that I was going to say the true audience in the room
would not understand what I was talking about. For that reason it made it hard for me to choose what
content to put into the speech. However, I do think I had a good basis of information, but I could have

Huck Finn Satire Essay
Satire in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Many authors use satire to discuss issues in society that
they have opinions on. These authors express their opinions by mocking the issues in a subtle way in
their writing. Throughout The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain satirizes many societal
elements. Three of these issues include the institution of slavery, organized religion, and education. By
satirizing slavery and the prejudice placed against blacks in Huck s society, Twain takes a stance
against these institutions. There are many situations throughout the novel that mock slavery in
different ways. Miss Watson s telling Huck to pray every day, (10) yet she owned a slave named Jim

(213) and write a letter to Miss Watson, but he began to think about his actions, and he decided that he
will go to hell (214) anyway, so he tore it up (214). Organized religion and society has taught Huck
that turning Jim in is the right thing to do, but he cannot bring himself to do it. Huck realizes that
everyone s life is important. Huck s life changing realization represents Twain s own opinion on the
issue of slavery. By mocking the issue of education, Twain s own ideas are incorporated into the
novel. When Tom and Huck form a gang, Tom is chosen as the leader. When asked what ransomed (8)
means, Tom claims that he does not know but they have got to do (9) it, because he has seen it in
books (9). The gang blindly follows Tom s orders because he is the most educated out of the group.
They believe that Tom s education automatically makes him more intelligent than them. Later in the
novel, Jim gets captured by the Phelps family. While trying to break Jim out of his temporary jail, Tom
claims that they must use picks and shovels and not modern conveniences because it will be more
authentic to a real jail break (243). Huck goes along with Tom s overly elaborate and inconvenient
plan to free Jim because he believes that

Analysis Of Bittorrent, A Nightmare For Copyright...
BitTorrent, a nightmare for copyright enforcement agencies Using BitTorrent has become a popular
and effective way of downloading files over the internet. BitTorrent is a peer to peer file sharing (P2P)
internet protocol that allows files to be distributed via an internet connection. The use of BitTorrent
itself is a perfectly legal and legitimate process of downloading certain files. For example, if someone
wanted to obtain a large free to use file like a Linux distribution, BitTorrent provides a fast and
effective means to download the file legally. Another legal use of BitTorrent would be companies like
Blizzard who use custom BitTorrent clients to distribute and update their games to avoid overloading
their servers. The main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A swarm is a group of computers that all have the desired torrent file available for downloading.
Computers enter the swarm by accessing a torrent file (file extension is generally .torrent) via a torrent
client such as BitTorrent, uTorrent, Vuze, Transmission, or many others. Trackers are located inside
torrent files that keep track of connected computers. The tracker communicates with the other
computers in the swarm and shares their corresponding IP addresses with everyone in the swarm so
the computers can connect to one another. The tracker does not handle any of the data being
transmitted, it merely provides a medium for the computers to keep track of which computers are in
the swarm. In other words, when an individual wants to download a file, first they download a torrent
file and access it via a client that contains a tracker allowing them to download the file from not one
but many people at one time. The actual file being transferred is not transferred as one large file, but is
broken down into many pieces when it is downloaded. After a computer has downloaded a piece of
the file, they are then able to upload that piece to others in the swarm. Thus, computers in the swarm
are downloading and uploading to and from each other simultaneously. Once the computer has all the
pieces of the file, the client then assembles the pieces so the file is operable. BitTorrent clients can

Stone Angel
Stone Angel Hagar as a Product of her Environment
Since the commencement of our world, there have been those such as Hitler, Einstein and Hitchcock,
whose very name stands apart from the masses; their distinct aura symbolized something far greater
than just a simple human life. Such a statement can be applied to Hagar Shipley, the protagonist from
the novel The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence, and hold true. Hager is a unique character, whose
essence rises above others, such that after understanding the journey of her life, her first name evokes
a series of emotion within the reader. Due to her crass nature and uncompromising pride, one
questions if the prestigious background of the Currie clan sculpted such. In ... Show more content on

To illustrate, regardless of the care that Aunty Doll provided Hagar over the years, she thought of her
as a homely woman with her sallow skin (Laurence, 17), snubbing her merely because she was hired
help. Furthermore, Hagar s God fearing (Laurence, 16) father who pulled himself up by his boot straps
(Laurence, 14), seeded her immense dislike for human weakness. To elaborate, Hagar states, for she
was a flimsy, gutless creature (Laurence, 4) about her own ungrateful fox voiced mother (Laurence,
4). Hagar detested her own mother because she perceived her as weak, a characteristic her father
taught her to hate. Right through the novel, we see very little humanistic qualities of Hagar, but more
accurately an immovable stone figure filled with Currie pride.
The arrogance deeply embedded within Hagar, was not only an inheritance from her father and the
Currie past, since the values and beliefs of nineteenth century Manawaka also fashioned her persona.
During this era, the society was divided into social classes, and due to her uncompromising pride,
Hagar desired to be situated on top. Thus Hagar was always conscious of with whom she was
associated. For this reason, Hagar despised John s association with the Tonnerre boys (Laurence, 127),
some uncouth French half breeds (Laurence, 127). Additionally, it was believed that the women of
Hagar s time needed a proper education based on the curriculum of language,

International Space Shuttle Essay
The Columbia essentially faced a strike to its left wing when it was taking off. A piece of foam fell
and struck the left wing, potentially damaging it on its way into space. When Columbia was
attempting to reenter, abnormal readings from the left wing appeared. They could not get a
temperature gauge on the left wing, and shortly after the temperature disappeared so did the tire
pressure readings. It was discovered later on that a hole formed from the foam strike upon entry into
space, so when the Columbia was later trying to return, the hole allowed atmospheric gases to seep
into the shuttle. These gases essentially overheated when it reached the hot, fiery part of the
atmosphere, causing the temperature pressure, the tire pressure, and ... Show more content on

The decrease in funding was great. The creation of the International Space Station (ISS) took the
biggest hit in the aftermath of Columbia, making its need for funding to go up from $24 billion to $30
billion, but the actual funding itself stand still, if not decrease. The budget for NASA was now seen as
a burden, or a waste in resources, and the billions of dollars that were going to them were starting to
dwindle away. Because of this, Shuttle Discovery and Atlantis, which were supposed to fly much
sooner, took longer to fund and get up into space. The plan for these four shuttle expeditions ended up
taking 30 years and billions of dollars, when that was typically not the original plan. Things were set
to a halt because of the Challenger and the Columbia failures, but essentially NASA was still able to
accomplish all they desired to, just in a much larger time frame. NASA now focuses on expeditions to
sound, singular locations such as the Moon and Mars, and that is where they are planning on putting
most of their budget and resources for the time being. While there may have been a funding decrease
due to the Columbia and its failure, support from government officials such as George W. Bush
allowed NASA to rebuild their budget while still explaining the importance of space travel and
exploration. The NASA we have today is not held in as much importance as it was back in the 80 s

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Behavior
There are 3 basic research methods that social psychologists use to describe behaviors. Each of these
have both strengths and weaknesses. The observational method is done by observing and collecting
data which is then used to describe the behavior. The researcher observes the events in a natural
setting so none of the variables are manipulated. There must be interjudge reliability, meaning that
when different researchers administer the same test to the same subject they each must obtain the same
measurement. The advantages in this method is that it is the simplest method, it has greater accuracy,
and it is useful for setting up hypothesis. The weaknesses are that this method is hard to observe
because of privacy and secrecy. It is great for explanation but not as good for prediction and
description. The observer might also be biased being that he has his own opinion on what is right and
wrong. The correlation method focuses on prediction. It is a statistical measure of two or more
variables and the relation between them are assessed. The Correlation coefficient assesses how well
you can predict one variable from another. A positive correlation is when the value of one variable
increases it is associated with the increase of the other variable. For example height and weight, the
more one grows the more he will weigh. A negative correlation is when the value of one variable
increases it is associated with the decrease of the other variable. An example is that the

tutors who influenced Tiberius at a young age were Diophanes, a teacher of oration and Blossius of
Cumae, a philosopher.

the senate regarding this measure and instead brought it before the popular assembly. His reason for
doing so might have been that he believed it would get bogged down in the senate, as it was a bill
directly affecting their finances or perhaps it was because he only had one year to act and realized the
immediate need for reform. However Tiberius had friends in the senate and it is possible that the bill
may have got through if he had followed procedure and if the senators put the needs of the republic

tribune M. Octavius, a large holder of public land. After pleading with Octavius to withdraw his veto,
Tiberius asked the people for the removal of Octavius as tribune. The people voted in favour of his
deposition and elected another tribune who carried Tiberius

Electronic Medical Records In Healthcare
Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) are used throughout the hospital where I work. An EMR has led
to many improvements in having access to medical records, in a timely manner. When a patient
registers in the Emergency Department, I can see how many visits they have had. I can see all records,
including past medical problems, allergies, test results, and a list of current medications they have
filled at a Pharmacy. This is very useful when the patient omits information. It only takes a few steps
to input protocols. An EMR decreases the risk of losing information or having to wait on records from
the Medical Records Department. Additionally, the EMR allows Physicians to easily compare lab

Socrates’ Speech in Apology
Aristophanes Clouds, if read hastily, can be interpreted as a mindless satyr play written in 419 BCE.
Yet the chorus warns the reader not to expect the play to have farcical ploys like a hanging phallus
stitched on the actors to evoke a laugh, but has underlying seriousness as she [the play] comes in
trusting only her words (Clouds 538 44). Even if the play does use some low devices, the play s
message is sophisticated and can be read as a warning to Socrates. Aristophanes is a friendly critic of
Socrates and warns Socrates to change his ways for Athens and for the good of himself (Whidden).

They are referred to as a voice that Socrates hears, not unlike a conscience, that turns me [Socrates]
away from whatever I am about to do, but never turns me forward (Apology 31d). Socrates uses that
as the reason why he never got into politics, as the majority rule is usually against his own code of
morals (31d). Socrates is not exactly godless or immoral for he would not condemn a group of
prisoners without trying them separately. His whole care is to commit no unjust or impious deed
(32d). Socrates may have moral standards, but perhaps his followers would not. This leads into the
charge that he corrupts the youth, for if Socrates can question the gods, they can too. Athenians acted
out of fear of heavenly retribution, not morals (Whidden). Those youth found it acceptable to do
whatever they wanted because of the apparent lack of gods and thunderbolts coming down from the
heavens to smite those who deserve justice. Clouds Socrates argues, If in fact he [Zeus] strikes
perjurers, then how is it that he did not burn up Simon, or Cleonymus or Theorus? Yet they are
vehement perjurers. But he strikes his own temple and Sunium, the cape of Athens, and tall oak trees.
Why? (Clouds 398 402).
Those youths have mimicked Socrates style of rhetoric and argument. Pheidippides is an extreme
satiric version of these sophists, as he uses the weaker speech to justify why he has beaten his father

Nervous system:
Since the nervous system does not store nutrients, it must receive a continuous supply from food. Any

The Destruction of the Corn Earworm
INTRODUCTION
Corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie) (formerly Heliothis zea) (Lepidoptera: Moctuidae), is one of
the most damaging insect crop pest in North America and causes millions of dollars of economic
damage each year (Capinera 2000). It is a polyphagous noctuid pest of agricultural crops across the
United States that is gaining attention as a pest of field corn (Bohenblust et al. 2013). The moth s high
fecundity, ability to lay between 500 to 3,000 eggs, polyphagous larval feeding habits, high mobility
during migration, and a facultative pupal diapause have led to the success of this pest (Fitt 1989). Its
preferred oviposition site is maize (Zea mays L.), specifically fresh silks, but when they are not
available H. zea readily oviposits on a wide range of host plants (Johnson et al. 1975). During the
reproductive stages, the female corn earworm adults are attracted to kairomones produced by corn
during the silk production stage (Johnson et al. 1975). Corn is most attractive to corn earworm adults
during the silking stage (Johnson et al. 1975). Ovipostion generally occurs on the leaf hairs and the
silks (Lingren et al. 1982). This process occurs during the reproductive stage in corn and may range
from several day to several weeks. Due to the high value of sweet corn, multiple insecticide
applications (12 to 40 insecticide applications) for corn earworm are economically viable. However,
the value of field corn is considerably lower (Rector et al. 2002).

livestock loss is not only due below normal rangeland condition (rain fall) but also as a result above

result heavy rains also could be a reason for covariate loss of herds. However, the IBLI in the area
does not provide coverage for such losses rather the coverage is offered against a loss due to drought.

With similar hypothesis it is also observed an increment in the annual income of the IBLI purchaser

forage was expected to negatively affect herd offtake. The data reveals that the average annual
expenditure on livestock probably for veterinary and forage expenses is Birr 701.71. The insured

large mean difference, we can infer that there is a strong correlation between willingness to spend on

First English Parliament During The Industrial Revolution
7) Parliament comes into being (Jan. 20, 1265) After his victory at the Battle of Lewes over Henry III,
De Montfort seized power in England. Even though he was in control, De Montfort s grip on the
country was threatened. He summoned the barons and the county knights, along with burgesses from
major towns to join him January 20th in an attempt to gain more support. This was called De Montfort
s Parliament. They discussed reforms and were able to temporarily stabilize de Montfort s political
state. Unfortunately, later that year he was killed at the Battle of Evesham, but his idea of parliament
did not die out. Under reign of Edward I, the idea of inviting both knights and the burgesses to
parliament become more popular. By the 14th century, this became normal and it became known as
the House of Commons. This parliament sometimes in referred to as the First English parliament, and

The Harm In Hate Speech Analysis
Jeremy Waldron argues in favor of hate speech restrictions in his book The Harm in Hate Speech . He
presents the central argument that vulnerable minorities are in need of hate speech regulation to
protect them from harm. Another argument he presents is that such regulation must be a content based
regulation, as opposed to a time, place, and manner restriction that is usually employed to prevent
certain kinds of speech. A final argument he uses is that speech is the harmful action, rather than
speech simply causing harmful actions. I do not find his arguments to be compelling enough reasons
to support restricting free speech with hate speech laws.
Waldron s central argument is that vulnerable minorities need and deserve government ... Show more

He believes that since hate speech legislation is seen as acceptable and necessary in most developed
nations that it is therefore the principles are also applicable to the United States. He openly admits that
he does not accept any assumptions that make up free speech jurisprudence, because they are contrary
to his views on how society needs to address hateful speech. The assumptions he rejects include the
tendency for truth to prevail in the marketplace of ideas, the effectiveness of counter speech, and that
content based restrictions are bad.

  • 2. Analysis Of The Brain Is Wider Then The Sky The poem The Brain is Wider Then the Sky by Emily Dickinson, written in 1862. Emily Dickinson was a woman who never married. She lived with her parents in Amherst Massachusetts. Emily believed in feminist. She came from a very church going family but as she got older she stopped going to church. She was a very smart woman. She attended college at Amherst Academy. Her father was the founder of Amherst Academy, which today is called Amherst College. Amherst college is still a well know college in Massachusetts. Emily Dickinson started a book club involving multiple friends, as well as her loving attentiveness to individuals in times of both suffering and joy. These inquiries highlight her thoughts on love, marriage, gender roles, art, and death, while unraveling mysteries ranging from legal discourse to Etruscan smiles. In addition to a foreword by Marietta Messmer, the volume includes essays by Paul Crumbley, Karen Dandurand, Jane Donahue Eberwein, Judith Farr, James Guthrie, Ellen Louise Hart, Eleanor Heginbotham, Cindy MacKenzie, Martha Nell Smith, and Stephanie Tingley. One of Emily s favorite books was the bible. She referred back to the bible in a lot of her work. The poem The Brain is Wider Then the Sky can be interpreted in many different ways. If you have knowledge of Emily Dickinson back round you may interpret it differently than others who do not know much about her life and upbringing. This poem is a four line stanza, most of her work was. She would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Voter Voting In The United States Despite popular opinion that the United States is the greatest democracy in the world, we have shockingly low voter turnout compared to international standards (Desilver). A complicated registration process and strict restrictions on voting consistently discourage and inhibit Americans from exercising their right to vote. Despite this, lawmakers continue to push for and often pass unnecessary legislation limiting the ways in which citizens can register and cast their ballot. Certain demographics are the most likely to be hindered by this kind of legislation, including young people, poor people, and people of color. Politicians often use claims of voter fraud as an excuse to systematically hinder these marginalized groups from participating in the democratic process, despite being unable to back up those claims with any kind of concrete evidence. The limiting of voting rights for young and minority populations is often blatantly politically motivated. Continuing to pile restrictions and obstacles onto our electoral process is not only unnecessary, it is contradictory to democratic values. There should be a shift in the focus of voting legislation towards expanding the ways in which citizens can participate in elections and away from limiting them, which would both increase voter turnout and ensure that all people have an equal voice in our government. Voter registration legislation being used as a tactic to disenfranchise minority voters has a long history in United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Freedom, And Freedom In The Shawshank Redemption The Shawshank Redemption is a high quality film with many themes, that are going to be explored. There are themes in any form of entertainment. But, the Shawshank Redemption is much different, in that is so packed full of them, that there is no good place to start looking for them. For that matter, there also is no right answer in which themes are the most important. Therefore, the Shawshank Redemption s most important themes are freedom and confinement, transformation, and hope. Freedom and confinement is the third most important theme in the movie, the Shawshank Redemption. There are many aspects of the inmates talking about what freedom is like, and how they are confined to Shawshank prison for a long time. In Shawshank they quite literally cannot do anything they want, they have to ask for everything. This can be no better seen than when Captain Byron Hadley said, You eat when we say you eat! You s*** when we say you s***! You p*** when we say you p***! Not only is this line of thought present in a fictional prison, but also in real life. There are TV shows out there that follow the cops of real life prisons, and real life prisoners do not have much more freedom. Then again, all things considered, prisoners have some freedoms, mainly in what they do during their yard times. The people who have it the worst, the one s who have it like the quote, are the people who live under complete dictatorships. They cannot do anything, and I mean anything without the consent of ... • 5. The Old Testament Law And The Gospel Church leaders have sought to define the relationship between the Old Testament Law and the Gospel, while seeking to determine the applicability of Old Testament laws for Christian believers. Unfortunately, a consensus among modern theologians remains unattainable, producing a spectrum of views on the subject. Contention primarily arises over obedience to customary laws, principally the requirement for Christians to observe the Sabbath. While brevity excludes a thorough examination of the subject, this essay will laconically detail the relationship between the law and the Christian believer, arguing (1) the Mosaic Law cannot be divided and categorized as some have suggested, and (2) adherence to the Mosaic Law is not an obligation for ... Even the Ten Commandments (Exod. 20:1 17) show an intermingling of moral laws (you shall not murder) and ceremonial laws (remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy). Second, the New Testament suggests continuity within the law (Gal. 5:3; James 2:10; Matt. 5:18), seemingly excluding the possibility of division. Addressing this issue, theologian Douglas J. Moo concludes, ...in general, it is notoriously difficult to know from the Old Testament itself which commandments should be placed in the category of moral and therefore eternally binding in the form in which they were first given. Jews in Jesus and Paul s day certainly did not divide up the law into categories; on the contrary, there was a strong insistence that the law was a unity and could not be obeyed in parts. These considerations suggest it is unreasonable to divide the Mosaic Law into categories, allowing for the abrogation of some sections, while maintaining the validity and obligatory nature of others. Proponents suggesting Christians must conform to moral laws, and some ceremonial laws (i.e. the Sabbath, but not sacrificial offerings), must address these points and present a Scriptural basis for the division and categorization of the Mosaic Law, before making the rest of their case. Adherence to the Mosaic Law is not an Obligation for Christians Establishing that there is no basis for arbitrary division and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Think about this question while considering the objectives of the company s evaluation/compensation system, what measures it took, and what happened as a result. A. Nordstrom was renowned for its superior customer service that was the result of the exceptional customer service efforts (or heroics ) put by their salespeople. If they recorded it as Non Selling work time, they were entitled to the guaranteed base wage with no effect in their SPH. However, if they recorded it as Selling work time, their SPH would be low. The evidence of this ambiguity in defining the Selling and Non Selling time is presented by the fact that the Nordstrom family had to issue the Internal Memo Differentiating Selling vs. Non Selling Time amidst the labor disputes crisis in mid 1989. (3) No evaluation/compensation service/satisfaction of work time related to customer There was no evaluation/compensation of work time related to activities for improving customer service/satisfaction such as home deliveries, calling up valued customers 2/6 informing them of newly arriving merchandises, helping customers with their sales, writing thank you notes, etc. So the system lacked in providing motivation for employees to perform such activities and also did not compensate the employees ... The Great Wave Book Review The Great Wave by Christopher Benfey shows a glimpse of Old Japan and its fascinating artwork around the time of the cultural tsunami in 1854 followed by the time of American Fascination. Towards the latter half of the book, Benfey really keys into aspects like Jiujutsu and martial arts along with forms of Japanese art and the idea of expressing ones spirit. The first portion of the latter half of the book discusses a key question in identifying who is Lafcadio Hearn? The first idea that comes to mind after reading about Hearn is that he is old fashioned. He liked the crumbling wooden houses, the Spanish relics and French architecture (Pg. 214). They had the largest eyeballs (up to 264mm in diameter), of all vertebrates which were supported by a ring of sclerotic bones, these eyes were adapted to help them find prey in low light environments (Motani, 2009). Ichthyosaurus also had large ear bones, scientists believe this was an adaptation that allowed them to locate their prey by listening for their arrival through the water . This adapation was also a useful way for them to listen for predators that may be approaching (Fisher et al, 2016). Magnesium And Hydrochloric Acid Lab Report On November 3, 2017, I conducted an experiment with the purpose of measuring the heat in a reaction between a mixture of Magnesium and Hydrochloric Acid (HCI). While being mixed, the reaction can either release or obtain more energy in an excessive manner. The surrounding environment then can give a measure of the amount of heat energy, and in this case the surrounding environment is a calorimeter. A calorimeter is a tool that is able to isolate the reaction from its surroundings, and is a very essential part of the lab. One must be careful when conducting this experiment so that the calorimeter can successfully retain the energy so the results will be as accurate as possible. • 24. International Space Shuttle Essay The Columbia essentially faced a strike to its left wing when it was taking off. A piece of foam fell and struck the left wing, potentially damaging it on its way into space. When Columbia was attempting to reenter, abnormal readings from the left wing appeared. They could not get a temperature gauge on the left wing, and shortly after the temperature disappeared so did the tire pressure readings. It was discovered later on that a hole formed from the foam strike upon entry into space, so when the Columbia was later trying to return, the hole allowed atmospheric gases to seep into the shuttle. These gases essentially overheated when it reached the hot, fiery part of the atmosphere, causing the temperature pressure, the tire pressure, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The decrease in funding was great. The creation of the International Space Station (ISS) took the biggest hit in the aftermath of Columbia, making its need for funding to go up from $24 billion to $30 billion, but the actual funding itself stand still, if not decrease. The budget for NASA was now seen as a burden, or a waste in resources, and the billions of dollars that were going to them were starting to dwindle away. Because of this, Shuttle Discovery and Atlantis, which were supposed to fly much sooner, took longer to fund and get up into space. The plan for these four shuttle expeditions ended up taking 30 years and billions of dollars, when that was typically not the original plan. Things were set to a halt because of the Challenger and the Columbia failures, but essentially NASA was still able to accomplish all they desired to, just in a much larger time frame. NASA now focuses on expeditions to sound, singular locations such as the Moon and Mars, and that is where they are planning on putting most of their budget and resources for the time being. While there may have been a funding decrease due to the Columbia and its failure, support from government officials such as George W. Bush allowed NASA to rebuild their budget while still explaining the importance of space travel and exploration. • 25. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Behavior There are 3 basic research methods that social psychologists use to describe behaviors. Each of these have both strengths and weaknesses. The observational method is done by observing and collecting data which is then used to describe the behavior. The researcher observes the events in a natural setting so none of the variables are manipulated. There must be interjudge reliability, meaning that when different researchers administer the same test to the same subject they each must obtain the same measurement. The advantages in this method is that it is the simplest method, it has greater accuracy, and it is useful for setting up hypothesis. The weaknesses are that this method is hard to observe because of privacy and secrecy. It is great for explanation but not as good for prediction and description. The observer might also be biased being that he has his own opinion on what is right and wrong. The correlation method focuses on prediction. It is a statistical measure of two or more variables and the relation between them are assessed. The Correlation coefficient assesses how well you can predict one variable from another. A positive correlation is when the value of one variable increases it is associated with the increase of the other variable. For example height and weight, the more one grows the more he will weigh. A negative correlation is when the value of one variable increases it is associated with the decrease of the other variable. An example is that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gracchus did not consult the senate regarding this measure and instead brought it before the popular assembly. His reason for doing so might have been that he believed it would get bogged down in the senate, as it was a bill directly affecting their finances or perhaps it was because he only had one year to act and realized the immediate need for reform. However Tiberius had friends in the senate and it is possible that the bill may have got through if he had followed procedure and if the senators put the needs of the republic before their own. When the bill was brought before the Concilium Plebis, it was vetoed by fellow tribune M. Octavius, a large holder of public land. • 28. Socrates’ Speech in Apology Aristophanes Clouds, if read hastily, can be interpreted as a mindless satyr play written in 419 BCE. Yet the chorus warns the reader not to expect the play to have farcical ploys like a hanging phallus stitched on the actors to evoke a laugh, but has underlying seriousness as she [the play] comes in trusting only her words (Clouds 538 44). Even if the play does use some low devices, the play s message is sophisticated and can be read as a warning to Socrates. They are referred to as a voice that Socrates hears, not unlike a conscience, that turns me [Socrates] away from whatever I am about to do, but never turns me forward (Apology 31d). Socrates uses that as the reason why he never got into politics, as the majority rule is usually against his own code of morals (31d). Socrates is not exactly godless or immoral for he would not condemn a group of prisoners without trying them separately. His whole care is to commit no unjust or impious deed (32d). Socrates may have moral standards, but perhaps his followers would not. This leads into the charge that he corrupts the youth, for if Socrates can question the gods, they can too. Athenians acted out of fear of heavenly retribution, not morals (Whidden). Those youth found it acceptable to do whatever they wanted because of the apparent lack of gods and thunderbolts coming down from the heavens to smite those who deserve justice. Clouds Socrates argues, If in fact he [Zeus] strikes perjurers, then how is it that he did not burn up Simon, or Cleonymus or Theorus? Yet they are vehement perjurers. But he strikes his own temple and Sunium, the cape of Athens, and tall oak trees. Why? (Clouds 398 402). Those youths have mimicked Socrates style of rhetoric and argument. • 32. The Destruction of the Corn Earworm INTRODUCTION Corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie) (formerly Heliothis zea) (Lepidoptera: Moctuidae), is one of the most damaging insect crop pest in North America and causes millions of dollars of economic damage each year (Capinera 2000). It is a polyphagous noctuid pest of agricultural crops across the United States that is gaining attention as a pest of field corn (Bohenblust et al. 2013). The moth s high fecundity, ability to lay between 500 to 3,000 eggs, polyphagous larval feeding habits, high mobility during migration, and a facultative pupal diapause have led to the success of this pest (Fitt 1989). Its preferred oviposition site is maize (Zea mays L.), specifically fresh silks, but when they are not available H. zea readily oviposits on a wide range of host plants (Johnson et al. 1975). During the reproductive stages, the female corn earworm adults are attracted to kairomones produced by corn during the silk production stage (Johnson et al. 1975). Corn is most attractive to corn earworm adults during the silking stage (Johnson et al. 1975). Ovipostion generally occurs on the leaf hairs and the silks (Lingren et al. 1982). This process occurs during the reproductive stage in corn and may range from several day to several weeks. Due to the high value of sweet corn, multiple insecticide applications (12 to 40 insecticide applications) for corn earworm are economically viable. However, the value of field corn is considerably lower (Rector et al. 2002). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He summoned the barons and the county knights, along with burgesses from major towns to join him January 20th in an attempt to gain more support. This was called De Montfort s Parliament. He presents the central argument that vulnerable minorities are in need of hate speech regulation to protect them from harm. Another argument he presents is that such regulation must be a content based regulation, as opposed to a time, place, and manner restriction that is usually employed to prevent certain kinds of speech. A final argument he uses is that speech is the harmful action, rather than speech simply causing harmful actions. He believes that since hate speech legislation is seen as acceptable and necessary in most developed nations that it is therefore the principles are also applicable to the United States. He openly admits that he does not accept any assumptions that make up free speech jurisprudence, because they are contrary to his views on how society needs to address hateful speech. The assumptions he rejects include the tendency for truth to prevail in the marketplace of ideas, the effectiveness of counter speech, and that content based restrictions are bad. However, these ideas cannot be simply dismissed because they are central to the American perspective on the necessity of hate speech legislation. Waldron fails to address in an effective way why he is able to dismiss these central ideas. In doing so, he is practically admitting to the reader that his ideas are based outside of the framework of the reality of American free speech tradition. The strength of his argument suffers from the fact that his argument is not applicable to the reality of American society s views on free speech. Waldron also argues that the harms caused by hate speech are constituted by speech, rather than merely caused by speech (166).
