Thesis on the First World War
i. Introduction A. Attention step: the change in the context and trend of war in terms of ferocity of the
weapons and the increase in human/nations participation was occasioned by the industrial revolution
and the French revolution. B. Thesis: The First World War stimulated the greatest changes in warfare
because it brought about new technology and industry development, advancement in science, and
improved infrastructure and communication; essentially the First World War combined the legacies of
the French and Industrial Revolutions and set the pattern for twentieth century warfare. ii. The
industrialization in Europe and the new technology escalated the power of the WWI as compared to
the other wars fought across the world there before. A. The industries led to increased production of
the weapons needed in the war. B. The availability of raw materials for the industries meant mass
production of the weapons sufficient to replace the damaged and the lost as well as the vast army. iii.
The advancement in science saw the war become sophisticated as each side tried to outwit the other in
tact and equipment. A. Chemistry was largely employed to come up with explosives and ammunitions
that had superior destructive power. B. New discoveries for instance of the rockets added to the power
of the WWI. iv. The improved infrastructure and communication system boosted the participation of
bigger number of troops from the French Revolution. A. The industrial revolution saw

Analysis of Friedrich Nietzsche´s Book 5 of The Gay...
Friedrich Nietzsche s own skepticism symbolized the secular changes in contemporary Western
civilization, in which he details mankind s break away from faith into a new rule of chaos. In Book 5
of The Gay Science, Nietzsche establishes that God is dead , meaning that modern Europe has
abandoned religion in favor of rationality and science (Nietzsche 279). From this death, the birth of a
new infinite blossoms in which the world is open to an unlimited amount of interpretations that do not
rely on the solid foundations of faith in religion or science. However, in contrast to the other
philosophers of his age such as Immanuel Kant and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Nietzsche
deviates from the omniscient determinism of history towards a ... Show more content on

Despite such claims, Nietzsche criticizes this mistaken idea that the knowledge of the universe can be
comprehended by any method; he argues that not even the most scrupulously conscientious analysis
and self examination of the intellect cannot successfully interpret the progressive history of the world
as the human intellect cannot avoid seeing itself in [only] its perspectives (Nietzsche 336). To
Nietzsche, Kant and Hegel s attempts to find truth in history is faulty because faith is just now found
in science and reasoning rather than religion. What Kant and Hegel fail to realize is that the human
race s separation from this faith gave rise to our new infinite , in which the world has become infinite
for [humanity] all over again, inasmuch as we cannot reject the possibility that it may include infinite
interpretations (Nietzsche 336). Thus the new infinite is self consciously made by the individual
members of humanity itself, as we can now independently interpret the world ourselves as we see fit.
Nietzsche declares that even if some of these interpretations may include too much devilry, stupidity
and foolishness , it does not matter because it does not rely on faith (Nietzsche 336). The new infinite
that arises is ours, in which the abundance of perspectives is too overwhelming for any scholar to give
meaning to such chaos. There is no logical reason how such disorder should

The Bus A Modern Panacea Summary
Transportation is an everyday occurrence in today s society; it takes you where you need to in a timely
manner. In the article The Bus, a Modern Panacea by Lester Detroit, he explains that taking the VTA is
a cure all solution. Detroit notes that the VTA is convenient because students do not have to drive
around to find parking space. He revels that students can save money with the free Echo Pass that is
provided with registered SJSU students. He also notes that taking the VTA helps with the
environmental problems because it solves traffic congestion, rising oil consumption, and carbon
pollution. With Detroit s statement, I agree with him that the VTA is a cure all solution because it
saves money, has health benefits, and is environmentally friendly. Taking the VTA can save thousands
of dollars annually. When people pay for gas it usually costs around three dollars per gallon depending
on the company. Mantill Williams states in her article, Individuals Save $9,343 by Riding Public

Copeland mentions the Los Angeles Metro Fit how it encourages people to exercise more by taking

Excessive consumption of lipids leads to higher rates of obesity.
For carbohydrates, consuming the right amount of carbs will give you energy to complete tasks such
as eating and exercising. An overconsumption of carbs will lead to multiple, deadly and life
threatening diseases such as type 2 diabetes. This is because when a person overeats on carbohydrates,
their body will produce excess insulin. Such insulin overproduction can overwhelm their body and
cause serious irregularities in insulin production.
With protein, consuming the correct amount of proteins will slow the aging process. Proteins helps the
body synthesize glutathione. Glutathione helps us reduce and detox carcinogens, which age people
significantly. Consuming too much protein can cause intestinal irritation. Too much protein has been
linked with harmful side effects, such as constipation, diarrhea, or excessive gas. After my research on

a charming and witty young lady with dreams that are out of this world. It s about Rapunzel s stolen
life as she is kept up in a tower with only having human interaction with a woman who kidnapped her

Tangled s main character Rapunzel showcases many topics we discussed in class in her personality
and her relationships. Rapunzel shows that she is a late maturing girl, her mother shows a specific
parenting style, Rapunzel shows her cognition in friendships and intimacy, and she also plays with
decision making. All of these characteristics make up just a few of the major concepts we learned
about adolescents in class.

We Real Cool Gwendolyn Brooks Analysis
We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of teenage rebellion.
This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences that create a steady meter giving the
poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the poem is short, it packs a powerful message about youth.
Gwendolyn Brooks centered her works predominately around the African American consciousness.
During the 1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young African American men
felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On the surface, it appears this poem
is a mere description of young adults that are misjudged. The deeper message of this poem addresses
the dangers of peer pressure, and its detrimental effects to self identity because of the disconnect
between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure can take place whenever people gather and
spend frequent time together. Most people are subject to its effects and often experience it because of
shared experiences or they share the same perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group
has enough influence to dictate an individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual is
desperate to find a place to belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know that they are
participating in something immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real Cool. As the poem begins, the
reader is introduced to the subjects of the poem, The Pool Players. Seven at the

Essay on Media and Violence
Introduction
In this essay I will be analysing whether less visual violence within the media would mean less
violence on the streets. Firstly, I will be questioning whether there is a connection between the
viewing of media violence and actual acting upon it. To do this I will analyse the usefulness of the
different methods used to approach such as complex issue. To illustrate this I will use examples of
different media forms that seem to have been a catalyst for acts of violence. I will then attempt to
come to a conclusion on whether less media violence could mean less acts of violence. Define
Firstly, to begin to analyse the media effects of violence one must define the term violence. The fact
that there are several different levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This post modern society can either have a positive affect or a negative one especially as technology
and the media have become more advanced and widespread, for example technology can be used to

so overpowering a dominant that it will create hyper reality whereby the distinctions between image

Research
Some argue that watching violence on screen may have a negative effect on the individual and may
lead to that individual imitating that act. Many researchers especially psychologist have carried out
studies attempting to prove that there is a correlation between the two commonly using experiments
with the use of observations (Boyle, 2005). The most common way that researchers go about
answering the question is by selecting a group of children, making them watch something which has a
level of violence and analyses the way the children react to it after they have watched it (Bandura et
al, 1963). There are many flaws when conducting such as study, one of them being that the study
highly lacks in reliability. Even if there appears to be a link between media violence and street
violence, the results would not be geographically consistent if the study was repeated as they fail to
realise that the social situation of every individual is different, (Guanlett, 2001) therefore, generalising

because of how important this issue is. The educational system is corrupt because people are required
to pay thousands of dollars or take out loans that are putting them in debts for years which is absurd.
Students from all over the nation forced to take out loans that put them in debt for most of their life.
Low income students also do not have many options for education and cannot afford one. The cost of
education will keep on getting higher and higher as time progresses and the next president and
congress of the democratic party needs to focus on this problem for students that are in college and for
the ones who will be in the future. The education issue is one of the biggest challenges that the United
States are facing today and needs to be fixed by lowering tuition, more options for low income
students, and create more teaching jobs. Both political parties have different views on education and
only one has the right mind to fixing the educational issue. On the website feelthebern.org,

Urban Politics Of The Brazil
Urban politics of poverty in Brazil have been highly publicized over the past few years. In large part,
this is due to capital spending on the creation and renovation of stadiums for the World Cup in 2014
and the Summer Olympics in 2016. Imagine waking up every morning and walking outside to slum
like conditions. Right next to those slum like conditions are brand new athletic stadiums that will
primarily used for about a month. It must be infuriating seeing public money be spent on flashy
buildings, meanwhile, homes, parks, schools, and more are not given nearly enough funding that is
required for complacency. Yet, much of what an individual sees may be interpreted differently. These

Urban politics in Brazil happen to be the exact reason why housing, transportation, inner city crime,
and more happen to occur in the favelas. Brazil is suffering from inconsistent political agendas which
ultimately, has created collective effort by citizens to riot against uneven development. All throughout
Brazil they built new state of the art stadiums, meanwhile there was a massive issue of poverty
occurring. Favelas in Brazil can be found throughout the country. Most famously, Rochina, a favela in
Rio De Janeiro sits massively entrenched on a hill in between a mountain range. Just below Rochina
lies Rio s developed downtown area. Maracanã, a local stadium in Brazil that was subject to much
criticism, just miles away from Rochina was renovated heavily to be the standard for all stadiums.
Accord to NPR, further outcry embellished when a brand new stadium in Manaus was built. Manaus
is located in the middle of the Amazonas state (in the Amazon Rainforest) and it is only accessible by
boat or plane. That is how far out of the way this city is. Yet, Brazil decided to invest in a brand new
stadium in the middle of the Amazon Rainforest rather than invest in its people. There is increasing
hope that the arena will draw future investors, businesses, and home developers/renovators to the area.
However, it is unlikely that this occurs quickly if at all. Amazonas is amongst the poorest states in
Brazil, which infers that

Example Of Intertextuality In Literature
Reality, as people often point out, is an ongoing, live soap opera in which the cast and roles depend on
perspective and the storyline on history. Literature, on the other hand, boasts a world of magic and
possibility. It exists as an interactive universe where a story can go in one direction and a thousand
directions all at once. Such a world is made possible by Intertextuality, the use of old, malleable
literature to create new literature by either alluding to the former to bring to light a revelatory hidden
message or exploring the consequences of a twist on a classic. William Golding s Lord of The Flies,
Stephanie Meyer s The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, and ABC Family s Once Upon A Time are a
few examples of works that have helped me gain a better understanding of Intertextuality and the
effect of its use. Intertextuality allows works and their essences to remain timeless. Whereas a classic
is restricted to the words included on the pages, newer books have the freedom to expand the life
altering concepts presented in these classics and make them relevant to ... Show more content on

The ABC Family s popular T.V. show, Once Upon A Time, portrays the story of a town called
Storybrooke where fairytale characters are imprisoned without their memories from the enchanted

Intertextuality, reinvents the common understanding of Fairytale Land and the essence of each
intertwined story but maintains each character s basic, recognizable identity. In fact, one of the
episodes is an adaptation of the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk in which Jack is actually female, and
climbs up the stalk with an army to murder the giants but ultimately dies of blood loss. This deviation

Why Do Jewish Women Join Partisan Groups
Jewish women fighting within the partisan groups faced an uphill battle in their attempt to gain respect
and find their place within the group. Being both Jewish and women, just gaining access into the
group was difficult but then once they were in, they faced being bound by traditional feminine role
and the threat of sexual abuse. Many partisan women though, did not let racism, and sexism define
them and proved themselves valuable through their work ethics, skills, and strength. Through several
stories we have learned about, we can see the heroism that these women showed and how they broke
away from the traditional roles that women were expected to play, shattering the stereotypes that were
put on them. These women survived not only being a partisan but also the evil twins of anti Semitic
and sexual violence (JPEF1). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

boys can go (JPEF2). So the women that did join partisans were already breaking free of the
traditional roles that many people felt they should be playing as women. Women that joined the
partisans wanted to live, and to avenge the humiliation that had been thrown upon them and their
families. This concept of women wanting to fight and use a gun broke conventional roles and shows

The Pros And Cons Of Child Pornography
In most states, teenagers who send or receive sexually explicit photographs via cell
phone, known as sexting , risk felony child pornography charges and the stigma of being listed
on the sex offender registry for life. The fact that sexting can fall under child pornography laws
has created some heated conversations and understandably so. There are numerous thoughts and
opinions on the matter. The majority of the time, sexting in teenagers isn t meant to be
malicious, isn t child pornography therefore shouldn t carry such a like punishment.
Teenagers sending a sext to another teenager isn t meant as a malicious act but rather a
way of flirting and letting the other person know they are interested in them in most cases.
While this behavior may cross moral lines it should not ruin their lives as a blatant crossing of
legal lines. If messages containing sexually explicit pictures, or videos are sent between teens
are meant to hurt someones reputation then that is a different story. Many states today are
struggling to write laws that create clear lines regarding this problem. Sexting can be very
serious and certainly needs to be addressed however, in the meantime, we cannot be putting
children behinds bars or labeling them as sex offenders.
Typical teenage sexting is not child pornography. Child pornography is a criminal
offense and is defined by HG.org as any visual depiction involving the use of a minor, or one
appearing to be a minor, engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Visual depictions include
photographs, film, video, pictures or computer generated images or pictures, whether made or
produced by electronic, mechanical, or other means. This is a clear definition of an act. Sexting
with teenagers today is more of a flirtatious way to start a relationship or to maintain a
3
relationship with another teenager. Most sext messages contain images meant to entice the other
person into wanting to spend more time with the sending individual. They are desires to
attract another, not images of sexual acts and therefore should not be considered child
pornography.
Sexting laws are very new and are not clearly defined yet, therefore should not

snipers in American history. In his four tours of duty, his goal is to save the lives of his comrades, but
this makes him the most wanted man by insurgents in Iraq. Chris has to sacrifice his relationship with
his family at home in order to complete his duty, and when he finally returns home, he still cannot get
over the war. Clint Eastwood succeeded in his choice of cast. Bradley Cooper was a perfect actor for
this role because he accurately portrayed Chris Kyle s experiences and struggles. Cooper displayed the
actions of a veteran upon returning home from war, and this could not have been done in a more
realistic way. Sienna Miller played ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These items are detailed through Kyle s deployments. Eastwood successfully created images of what
the battlefield in Iraq looks like. In addition, he used symbols such as the American flag and the Navy
SEAL trident to express Kyle s pride for America. The themes of this film connect Kyle s struggles
with his family, deployment, and remembrance of war. Overall, the story line successfully depicts
Chris Kyle s life. The film begins with Kyle s childhood and training to become a Navy SEAL. The
rest of the film goes through Kyle s deployments in Iraq and his struggles with being a husband and
father at home. Having the film from the perspective of Chris Kyle makes the plot more effective than
if it were from another character s perspective. The character of Taya Kyle seemed to have a negative
aspect because she was against her husband going to war and she was overall a very one dimensional
character. The production of American Sniper by Clint Eastwood was very well done. The use of
montages to show Kyle s memories is successful in reinforcing his inner struggles. The continual use
of diegetic sound made the film even more real and put the viewer in a position as if they were
experiencing the war with the characters. When Kyle is killed by a Marine whom he was trying to
help, the film transitions to actual videos from his funeral procession in Texas, which makes the film

He decided on Syria to bring attention to the civil war that started in 2011, and still continues today.
There are many similarities between The Ghost Sonata and Syria, such as, people being condemned
for their sins, death everywhere, and corruption. TCC s theatre department did an excellent job
bringing The Ghost Sonata to life, and the use of present day Syria as the setting, tied in nicely. The
set was designed to look like an apartment building that had been bombed in a war torn town. The
costumes that the actors wore were true to what you would see people of Syria wearing. Many of the
women were dressed in the traditional Abayah, which is, a black garment that covers them from
shoulders to feet. They were also wearing a head and face cover that only shows their eyes. The one
costume that really stood out was The Fiancée. She wore a long white dress that had an antique look
to it. Her hair was very long and white as well. Her make up had a ghostly appearance, leaving you to
wonder if the fiancée was just showing her age, or if she was in fact a ghost. There was one costume
that did not make sense to me, and that was The Milkmaid, who was a ghost. She was dressed in a
plain long red dress and I felt her make up was poorly done. Her costume did not remind me

Introduction
This report aims to investigate how foreigners see Brazilian culture from an average outsider point of
view. To achieve this, we tried to identify some of the stereotypes that the interviewees had towards
Brazilian culture, particularly in music. The purpose of the collected information is to give the readers
insights of how stereotypes are prejudicial and how they can have huge impacts in big social matters
that can increase social inequality, and therefore prevent prejudice.

They consisted in the questions showed in the table asked after some introductory questions created to
know the interviewee. The introductory questions were: * What is your name and how old are you? *
Where are you from? Which city? * How long have you been living in Brazil?
We used these questions to divide the interviewees in different categories in which we searched for
patterns, as can be seen in the Discussion, analysis and results section.

The group searched for foreign people to interview in Portuguese for foreigners classes and in the
members of the group s regular classes, seen that some of them accept exchange students.
Furthermore, the group asked to the interviewees if they had any friends that could be interviewed too.
We ended up with 10 interviewees from the following nationalities, ages and time living in Brazil: *
Three Americans, a 56 year old (6 years living in Brazil) and two 46 year old (one living in Brazil for
8 years, and another for 6 years); * Two Germans, a 24 year old and a 21 year old (both living in

Lord s Resistance Army Essay
The Lord s Resistance Army is one of the longest running and most violent armed groups in Africa.
The US State Department reports that it has been active since 1986, it was formed in northern Uganda
to fight Uganda s government. It has a sordid and violent history including the forcible recruitment of
over 66,000 children for both sex slaves and child soldiers. The longevity and continued activity of the
Lord s Resistance Army can be attributed to its leader, Joseph Kony.
The Lord s Resistance Army was created due in part to the Holy Spirit Movement which was founded
in the 1980 s to represent the Acholi people of northern Uganda. Kony founded the L.R.A in order to
combat Uganda s government headed by President Yoweri Museveni.
The Lord s Resistance Army has never been a popular movement, it has never had the support of the
citizenry in the countries in which it operates. Although it was created in Uganda, it has operated in
the Central African Republic, Southern Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The
supposed mandate of the L.R.A when it was conceived was to create a theocratic style state in Uganda
based on the 10 commandments of the Bible.
The armed status of the L.R.A has been reduced to an almost insignificant amount, the Guardian
reported after being chased across the Nile in 2005 the L.R.A has maybe around a few hundred

Jello Monster Monologue
Have you ever been attacked by a jello? I have, or rather there is a jello attacking me right now. So
about, say an hour ago, I woke up in the middle of a big field. I will admit that i found nothing odd

Hold on a moment, I need to take care of this damn jello monster thing. Right now where was I? Jello
monster, empty field, blackout drunk... Right. So I started walking around and found the jello monster,
it attacked me and... I think you re caught up now. Hmmn... I better tell you about what I m seeing. So
I am alone in this relatively flat field, though it might be better to call it an open plain.... If you could

Abstract
This paper compares the philosophies of three diverse faiths, that of: Buddhism, Islam, and Christian
Science, comparing them to Christianity. We will look at basic beliefs, spiritual perspectives on
healing, beliefs about healthcare, and components of healing such as prayer, meditation, and rituals
followed. We will also look at what is important to know when caring for a person with different
beliefs and cultural views, so that we may treat them with respect, dignity and promote the healing
process.

Muslims believe their faith is the only true faith, it was revealed to them through a long line of
prophets inspired by God. To practice their faith Muslims must accept five primary obligations called
five pillars of Islam. The first pillar, is the profession of faith, repetition of the statement, There is no
god but God; Muhammad is the Messenger of God . The second pillar is the devotion to prayer and
worship. Muslims pray five times a day while facing towards Mecca the house of God . Prayers are
simple and personal but also done in groups. The third pillar is the obligatory religious tax it is paid by
all for the benefit of the community. The fourth pillar is the month long fast each year during
Ramadan from dawn to dark along with refraining from cursing, lying, and cheating. The fifth pillar is
the pilgrimage to Mecca at some time during your life.
Muslims beliefs about health and illness vary considerably from the Christian perspective. Muslims
believe that illness is atonement for their sins and accept it with prayers and patience. Cleanliness is
considered half the faith, the Quran prohibits the eating of pork and by products and any meat not
slaughtered in the halal way. The one month fast is thought to rest the body and have medical values.
When caring for Muslim patients where the cultural differences are vast, first respect privacy and
modesty, examine patient over gown when possible. Provide halal foods, allow patient to pray and

Essay on The Moment of Inertia of a Disk and a Ring
Objective: The objective of this laboratory was to theoretically calculate the moment of inertia of a
disk and a ring and then to verify the moment of inertia for both objects through experiment. This
laboratory shows that while the theoretical is not within the uncertainty of the experimental, both
values are extremely similar to each other.

This calculation will be done later on. After using equation 1 to find the experimental moment of
inertia, the average and standard deviation of the five trials for No Ring and Ring were calculated
using Excel commands for average and standard deviation. The averages will be used later on in order
to calculate the experimental moment of inertia for the ring. In the next step, the theoretical moment of
inertia was calculated for the disk by using equation 2.
I_disk^th=1/2 M_d R_d^2 (2)
In the equation above, the I_disk^th is the theoretical moment of inertia of the disk, M_d is the mass
of the disk, Rd is the radius of the disk. Next, the theoretical moment of inertia of the Ring was
calculated using equation 3 below.
I_ring^th=1/2 M_r (R_1^2+R_2^2) (3)
In the equation above, I_ring^this the theoretical moment of inertia of the Ring, Mr is the mass of the
ring, R_1^2 is the inner radius of the ring, and R_2^2 is the outer radius of the ring. In order to
compare the experimental and theoretical moments of inertia of the Ring, the experimental moment of
inertia of the ring alone has to be calculated. It is given that the experimental moment of the system
equals to the experimental moment of inertia of the ring plus the experimental moment of inertia of
the disk. The experimental moment of inertia can be found by solving

The first abdominal hysterectomy was first performed by Charles Clay in Manchester in 1843 even
though the initial procedure was to remove an ovarian tumour, the patient coughed and extruded a
huge uterine fibroid through the incision. He had no choice but to perform a subtotal hysterectomy,
unfortunately the patient died a few hours later. Surprisingly in the same year another surgeon Heath
had the same situation happen to him and the patient died from post operative blood loss. The
following year Charles Clay attempted another hysterectomy procedure and almost succeeded, but the
patient died post operatively after fifteen days having fallen out of bed. Nevertheless, Ellis Burnham
from Lowell, Massachusetts successfully achieved the first abdominal hysterectomy, but diagnosis
was wrong, he thought he was removing an ovarian cyst. However, Kimball who was also from
Massachusetts carried out the first hysterectomy for a fibroid tumour with the patient surviving the
operation. The most common reason for performing hysterectomy is to cure uterine fibroids, but
however, The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) stated that total abdominal
hysterectomy should be considered as a last option for fibroids and that woman should be told about
other treatments which are less drastic surgical procedures. Mrs Bird is health and fit with no other
presenting issues besides her current problem. It is important for Mrs Bird to understand the changes
her body will go through after the operation. Her medical history indicates that she has normal and

Poor Law Amendment Act Research Paper
What, in your view, was the short term significance of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act?
The 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act changed the law that was already in place, to centralise the relief
given, and bring in more regulations. Outdoor relief was abolished for the able bodied, and
workhouses were to be established in parishes, or within unions of parishes. Under the Act, ratepayers
in each union or parish elected a board of guardians to supervise the workhouse and send reports to
the Poor Law Commissioners, who were appointed by the government and responsible for overseeing
the implementation of the Act across the countries. Furthermore, the Act aimed to create workhouses
as a last resort, and make the regulations and conditions dismal enough ... Show more content on

The Nottinghamshire Guardian in 1849 reported an inquest at the Southwell Union Workhouse due to
the death of a 4 year old girl, due to her being with her mother in the workhouse and becoming injured
by the boiling water her mother was using. This shows how segregation was not being practically
used, even though it was outlined in the Act. This could show that there was not as much of a
significant different following the act, in many ways because of the lack of regulation and the small
amount of overseers. This source can be considered a more truthful representation of how workhouses
truly were than from the idea given by the official documentation that was published in order to make
the workhouses look successful. However, this is an independent event and does not represent the
conditions in every workhouse, and furthermore the conditions in the whole of the particular
workhouse. Therefore, segregation could have been apparent in many other places and aspects, but not
at this time, showing a potential lack of regulation and following of the rules outlined by the Poor Law

Factors That Influence Tsarina Alexandra Had On Tsar...
The fall of the Romanovs can be put down to a number of factors, one of them being the influence
Tsarina Alexandra had on Tsar Nicholas II. Due to her close relationship with the Tsar she was able to
influence and manipulate him in a number of ways and convinced him to hold on to his autocratic
power no matter what. As a result of her intervention she can be seen as a significant figure in the fall
of the autocratic system. Her significance can be measured by a number of factors such as her
relationship with the Tsar and the influence she had over him, her relationship with the Russian people
as a result of her German roots, and finally her relationship with the monk Rasputin and the influence
he had over both the Tsarina and the Tsar. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it was the Tsar s actions that lead to many riots and fuelled the fire for revolution, he made
those decisions because of the Tsarina and her influence. She had no political knowledge but that didn
t stop her from getting involved, she was a firm believer that the Tsar deserved his autocratic power
and it was the will of God that he was in the position he was in. This belief led her to encourage him
to ignore many people who could have potentially helped preserve the autocratic system by helping
the Tsar make sensible decisions regarding the situation at hand. The fact that the Tsarina assumed an
active political role later on and would often let Rasputin to get involved was a major factor in
bringing about the fall of the Romanovs. She was unpopular as it was, but by attempting to make such
big decisions without the advice of the Duma, she was in fact destroying the autocratic system rather
than saving it as she thought she was doing. Not only did she continue to encourage the Tsar to ignore
all others, she often undermined his authority by overruling decisions made by him. By getting
involved in the way she did, she only further increased her own popularity but was also starting to
unintentionally take the Tsar down with

Bitcoin Is A New Form Of Currency
Bitcoin is a new form of currency that is entirely digital with no central authority. It can be traded
anywhere; it is accepted for all sorts of goods and services. There are online market places and
exchanges to allow you to exchange Bitcoin for USD or other currencies. But with an entirely digital
nature comes the potential for a very risky business. The currency, sites, and transactions all have the
possibility of being hacked. Theft is still likely to occur with digital currencies. The way transactions
are processed gives the currency an anonymous nature. This anonymity allows for it to be used in
unethical and ultimately illegal ways. This paper shows both positive and negative sides of Bitcoin
and demonstrates how Bitcoin can be a valid currency with better control. Due to the recent nature of
this topic and how it will be discussed in this paper, there are very few reasonable scholarly sources
available. There are a few from well known publications and journals but none that touch on Bitcoin
in the way I would like to discuss it. I have a few good sources to pull from but because the lack of

The Basic Concepts Of Algebra
Sam is a student in middle school who is having difficult in his algebra class. Sam is having a
difficulty with the basic concepts of algebra. The possible strategies that may be used on Sams case
are teaching vocabulary, concrete representational abstract method and graphic organization. The
teaching vocabulary is very important when it comes to solving a problem in mathematics this is
because a student must understand the content of the problem in order to solve. Not only knowing the
content, but knowing the difference between the vocabulary. For example, knowing the difference
between addition and subtraction. If a student does not know the different between both, the problem
will be incorrect. A teacher must teach a student the vocabulary in their classroom. They should use
the first 10 to 15 minutes reviewing any vocabulary that would be used that day. In addition, they
should provide examples for each word. For example, if they are explaining a program they should
define the words they are using to refresh the students who are lost and confuse during the lecture. The
benefits of using this strategie with Sam is that every time Sam sits down in class he would be able to
have his mind refreshed. A lot of students believe their student know the material, therefore, they
continue teaching. However, if Sam has his mind refreshed every time he goes to class he has a
opportunity to understand the material. Moreover, if the teacher explains the vocabulary with a
problem, Sam

History Of The Berlin Wall
The Cold War by nature divided Europe in two camps capitalist West, and communist East. This
slowed down the political, economic and social integration drastically. As Winston Churchill put it, an
iron Curtain had descended across Europe. Consequently, Europe was more divided than any other
time in history. Germany was divided into east and west. Berlin itself was also divided into similar
territories which caused a huge economic, political and social strain on its people. The construction of
the Berlin wall was one of the pivotal moments of the Cold War as it served as a physical illustration
of the iron Curtain . Today however, Germany has become the economic hotspot of the EU so
evidently the Cold War only hindered/delayed the inevitable

The House Home Exhibit
Do you remember playing with dollhouses as a child, or how about building homes out of Lego s or
Lincoln Logs? The concept of home is something we experience from a very young age, after all, as
the new long term exhibit House Home at the National Building Museum points out, We all live
somewhere. The House Home exhibit explores a subject so wide and so fundamental to the American
way of life that it resonates with visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
A visit to any of the Washington, D.C. based National Building Museum s exhibit starts with taking in
the grandeur of the museum itself. Located in the historic Pension Building, a towering Italian Revival
structure, the museum opened in 1980, with a mission to to advance the quality of the built
environment by educating people about its impact on their lives (About the National Building
Museum, 2016). The museum s great hall features 75 foot high corinthian columns, as well as a 1,200
foot long, 3 foot high frieze designed by Caspar Buberl in 1899. The very structure of this museum is
an exhibit in and of itself, and it sets the stage for discussions about the evolution of American
architecture, investigations into why we live where we do, and explorations of work and play.
House Home is the National Building Museum s newest long term exhibit, which opened in 2012 to
positive public and critical reception. The Washington Post summary and review of the exhibition
concludes House Home does a good job of

The During The Civil War
As tumultuous as the United States was during the Civil War, the period of reconstruction was filled
with a similar sense of uncertainty; the Confederate states had to be assimilated back into the Union
but there were many conflicting views on how this should be done. While the Thirteenth Amendment
had already emancipated the Africans living in the Southern territories, it did not guarantee them equal
treatment. Still up for debate was whether Africans would be given the equal protection under the law,
citizen status, and the right to vote. While the South had been defeated militarily, it still fought to
preserve its way of life through politics, and much of the political debates during the Reconstruction
period would define the futures of the African Americans.
The position of blacks in America had long been a point of debate, both ethically and politically. Many
Northern people before the Civil War sympathized with African slaves and recognized that slavery
might be morally wrong, but could not care less when it came to doing something about it; slavery, for
the most part, was a Southern tradition and not their issue. However, as more states were being
admitted to the Union, the issue of slavery became politically important for the North when
maintaining the balance of slave states and free states. With the release Uncle Tom s Cabin, causing
more Northern people to join the abolitionist movement, and the election of the slavery opponent
Abraham Lincoln, the South felt

The Impact Of Religion And Spirituality On Psychological...
A Hope that Restores: The Impact of Religion and Spirituality on Psychological Distress Those who
plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as
they return with the harvest (Matthew) . Everyone in life goes through a tribulation of some variety,
including those who believe in a superior being. A common term for these people, that is, people who
carry said belief, is religious, referring to a person who is devoted to the applications of a church or
other institution, perhaps a synagogue. Although the two compliment each other, religion is not to be
confused with spirituality. While religion focuses on involvement in a religious program, such as a
church, spirituality is often thought to be a reserved and private experience, in which the partaker
places meanings with events that are close to them as an individual. Religious and spiritual people
alike have been studied over recent years in order to clarify theories which claim that coping with
trauma in a religious manner has an effect on the outcome pertaining to how well the person copes.
First of all, the matter of who is affected by trauma should be addressed. As previously stated,
everyone experiences such ordeals at one occasion or another in their lifetime. However, people of
greater extents of unique backgrounds, such as poverty or specific types of ethnicity, tend to be more
prone to distress and the consequences resulting from. Also, while consequences

Mr Keating Influence
In my opinion the two boys that were most affected by Mr. Keating, are Neil and Todd respectively.
Both were affected in different ways and Mr. Keating had different effects on them. For Todd it takes a
little while longer than Neil but he still seems to have been influenced greatly. Todd Anderson was a
quiet and shy kid who couldn t find his voice. He was what people would call a follower in a group.
Todd wouldn t add anything to a conversation unless asked a question. Basically he didn t want to be
recognized or put in the spotlight. While attending Mr. Keating s classes you could see him change
slightly. In fact, he even did something adventurous by joining the new dead poet s society. Although
he was pressured into that it was still his decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A breakthrough for Todd was when Keating assigned to write an original poem and recite it in front of
the class. At first Todd reveals he hasn t done the assignment; Keating up for the challenge of getting
Todd more rambunctious he makes Todd go out in front of the class. Keating digs into Todd and Todd
delivers a spectacular poem as he gains confidence in himself and his abilities. Perhaps the greatest
example of Todd s growth was at the end of the movie. Mr. Keating is gathering his personal items
from his office while the new English class is taking place. As Keating is about to step out the door
Todd shouts to Keating that the school had made him sign a paper charging Keating with the
responsibility of influencing a death. Todd is scolded by his new teacher and Keating is also asked to
leave. Not worried about the consequences Todd stands on

The Brand Communication Strategy
Harley Davidson image and the loyalty it engendered among its customers are their greatest assets.
The company is described as an archetype of American style and the ultimate biker status symbol, a
quasi religion, an institution, a way of life. Harley had a unique relationship with American culture,
because its values represented individuality, freedom, and adventure, referring to the cowboy and

  • 3. Analysis of Friedrich Nietzsche´s Book 5 of The Gay... Friedrich Nietzsche s own skepticism symbolized the secular changes in contemporary Western civilization, in which he details mankind s break away from faith into a new rule of chaos. In Book 5 of The Gay Science, Nietzsche establishes that God is dead , meaning that modern Europe has abandoned religion in favor of rationality and science (Nietzsche 279). From this death, the birth of a new infinite blossoms in which the world is open to an unlimited amount of interpretations that do not rely on the solid foundations of faith in religion or science. However, in contrast to the other philosophers of his age such as Immanuel Kant and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Nietzsche deviates from the omniscient determinism of history towards a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite such claims, Nietzsche criticizes this mistaken idea that the knowledge of the universe can be comprehended by any method; he argues that not even the most scrupulously conscientious analysis and self examination of the intellect cannot successfully interpret the progressive history of the world as the human intellect cannot avoid seeing itself in [only] its perspectives (Nietzsche 336). To Nietzsche, Kant and Hegel s attempts to find truth in history is faulty because faith is just now found in science and reasoning rather than religion. What Kant and Hegel fail to realize is that the human race s separation from this faith gave rise to our new infinite , in which the world has become infinite for [humanity] all over again, inasmuch as we cannot reject the possibility that it may include infinite interpretations (Nietzsche 336). Thus the new infinite is self consciously made by the individual members of humanity itself, as we can now independently interpret the world ourselves as we see fit. Nietzsche declares that even if some of these interpretations may include too much devilry, stupidity and foolishness , it does not matter because it does not rely on faith (Nietzsche 336). The new infinite that arises is ours, in which the abundance of perspectives is too overwhelming for any scholar to give meaning to such chaos. There is no logical reason how such disorder should ... With Detroit s statement, I agree with him that the VTA is a cure all solution because it saves money, has health benefits, and is environmentally friendly. • 10. We Real Cool Gwendolyn Brooks Analysis We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of teenage rebellion. This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences that create a steady meter giving the poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the poem is short, it packs a powerful message about youth. Gwendolyn Brooks centered her works predominately around the African American consciousness. During the 1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young African American men felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On the surface, it appears this poem is a mere description of young adults that are misjudged. The deeper message of this poem addresses the dangers of peer pressure, and its detrimental effects to self identity because of the disconnect between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure can take place whenever people gather and spend frequent time together. Most people are subject to its effects and often experience it because of shared experiences or they share the same perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group has enough influence to dictate an individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual is desperate to find a place to belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know that they are participating in something immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real Cool. As the poem begins, the reader is introduced to the subjects of the poem, The Pool Players. Seven at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firstly, I will be questioning whether there is a connection between the viewing of media violence and actual acting upon it. To do this I will analyse the usefulness of the different methods used to approach such as complex issue. To illustrate this I will use examples of different media forms that seem to have been a catalyst for acts of violence. I will then attempt to come to a conclusion on whether less media violence could mean less acts of violence. Postmodernist fear that the media will become so overpowering a dominant that it will create hyper reality whereby the distinctions between image and reality no longer exist (Jewkes, 2004: 26) Research Some argue that watching violence on screen may have a negative effect on the individual and may lead to that individual imitating that act. Many researchers especially psychologist have carried out studies attempting to prove that there is a correlation between the two commonly using experiments with the use of observations (Boyle, 2005). The most common way that researchers go about answering the question is by selecting a group of children, making them watch something which has a level of violence and analyses the way the children react to it after they have watched it (Bandura et al, 1963). There are many flaws when conducting such as study, one of them being that the study highly lacks in reliability. Even if there appears to be a link between media violence and street violence, the results would not be geographically consistent if the study was repeated as they fail to realise that the social situation of every individual is different, (Guanlett, 2001) therefore, generalising the study based ... • 16. Example Of Intertextuality In Literature Reality, as people often point out, is an ongoing, live soap opera in which the cast and roles depend on perspective and the storyline on history. Literature, on the other hand, boasts a world of magic and possibility. It exists as an interactive universe where a story can go in one direction and a thousand directions all at once. Such a world is made possible by Intertextuality, the use of old, malleable literature to create new literature by either alluding to the former to bring to light a revelatory hidden message or exploring the consequences of a twist on a classic. William Golding s Lord of The Flies, Stephanie Meyer s The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, and ABC Family s Once Upon A Time are a few examples of works that have helped me gain a better understanding of Intertextuality and the effect of its use. The Pros And Cons Of Child Pornography In most states, teenagers who send or receive sexually explicit photographs via cell phone, known as sexting , risk felony child pornography charges and the stigma of being listed on the sex offender registry for life. The fact that sexting can fall under child pornography laws has created some heated conversations and understandably so. There are numerous thoughts and opinions on the matter. The majority of the time, sexting in teenagers isn t meant to be malicious, isn t child pornography therefore shouldn t carry such a like punishment. Teenagers sending a sext to another teenager isn t meant as a malicious act but rather a way of flirting and letting the other person know they are interested in them in most cases. While this behavior may cross moral lines it should not ruin their lives as a blatant crossing of legal lines. If messages containing sexually explicit pictures, or videos are sent between teens are meant to hurt someones reputation then that is a different story. Many states today are struggling to write laws that create clear lines regarding this problem. Sexting can be very serious and certainly needs to be addressed however, in the meantime, we cannot be putting children behinds bars or labeling them as sex offenders. Typical teenage sexting is not child pornography. Child pornography is a criminal offense and is defined by HG.org as any visual depiction involving the use of a minor, or one appearing to be a minor, engaging in sexually explicit conduct. In his four tours of duty, his goal is to save the lives of his comrades, but this makes him the most wanted man by insurgents in Iraq. Chris has to sacrifice his relationship with his family at home in order to complete his duty, and when he finally returns home, he still cannot get over the war. Clint Eastwood succeeded in his choice of cast. Bradley Cooper was a perfect actor for this role because he accurately portrayed Chris Kyle s experiences and struggles. These items are detailed through Kyle s deployments. Eastwood successfully created images of what the battlefield in Iraq looks like. In addition, he used symbols such as the American flag and the Navy SEAL trident to express Kyle s pride for America. The themes of this film connect Kyle s struggles with his family, deployment, and remembrance of war. Overall, the story line successfully depicts Chris Kyle s life. The film begins with Kyle s childhood and training to become a Navy SEAL. The rest of the film goes through Kyle s deployments in Iraq and his struggles with being a husband and father at home. Having the film from the perspective of Chris Kyle makes the plot more effective than if it were from another character s perspective. The character of Taya Kyle seemed to have a negative aspect because she was against her husband going to war and she was overall a very one dimensional character. The production of American Sniper by Clint Eastwood was very well done. The use of montages to show Kyle s memories is successful in reinforcing his inner struggles. The continual use of diegetic sound made the film even more real and put the viewer in a position as if they were experiencing the war with the characters. When Kyle is killed by a Marine whom he was trying to help, the film transitions to actual videos from his funeral procession in Texas, which makes the film ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The set was designed to look like an apartment building that had been bombed in a war torn town. The costumes that the actors wore were true to what you would see people of Syria wearing. Many of the women were dressed in the traditional Abayah, which is, a black garment that covers them from shoulders to feet. They were also wearing a head and face cover that only shows their eyes. The one costume that really stood out was The Fiancée. She wore a long white dress that had an antique look to it. Her hair was very long and white as well. Her make up had a ghostly appearance, leaving you to wonder if the fiancée was just showing her age, or if she was in fact a ghost. The US State Department reports that it has been active since 1986, it was formed in northern Uganda to fight Uganda s government. It has a sordid and violent history including the forcible recruitment of over 66,000 children for both sex slaves and child soldiers. The longevity and continued activity of the Lord s Resistance Army can be attributed to its leader, Joseph Kony. The Lord s Resistance Army was created due in part to the Holy Spirit Movement which was founded in the 1980 s to represent the Acholi people of northern Uganda. Kony founded the L.R.A in order to combat Uganda s government headed by President Yoweri Museveni. The Lord s Resistance Army has never been a popular movement, it has never had the support of the citizenry in the countries in which it operates. Although it was created in Uganda, it has operated in the Central African Republic, Southern Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The supposed mandate of the L.R.A when it was conceived was to create a theocratic style state in Uganda based on the 10 commandments of the Bible. After using equation 1 to find the experimental moment of inertia, the average and standard deviation of the five trials for No Ring and Ring were calculated using Excel commands for average and standard deviation. The averages will be used later on in order to calculate the experimental moment of inertia for the ring. In the next step, the theoretical moment of inertia was calculated for the disk by using equation 2. I_disk^th=1/2 M_d R_d^2 (2) In the equation above, the I_disk^th is the theoretical moment of inertia of the disk, M_d is the mass of the disk, Rd is the radius of the disk. Next, the theoretical moment of inertia of the Ring was calculated using equation 3 below. I_ring^th=1/2 M_r (R_1^2+R_2^2) (3) In the equation above, I_ring^this the theoretical moment of inertia of the Ring, Mr is the mass of the ring, R_1^2 is the inner radius of the ring, and R_2^2 is the outer radius of the ring. In order to compare the experimental and theoretical moments of inertia of the Ring, the experimental moment of inertia of the ring alone has to be calculated. It is given that the experimental moment of the system equals to the experimental moment of inertia of the ring plus the experimental moment of inertia of the disk. The 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act changed the law that was already in place, to centralise the relief given, and bring in more regulations. Outdoor relief was abolished for the able bodied, and workhouses were to be established in parishes, or within unions of parishes. Under the Act, ratepayers in each union or parish elected a board of guardians to supervise the workhouse and send reports to the Poor Law Commissioners, who were appointed by the government and responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Act across the countries. The possible strategies that may be used on Sams case are teaching vocabulary, concrete representational abstract method and graphic organization. The teaching vocabulary is very important when it comes to solving a problem in mathematics this is because a student must understand the content of the problem in order to solve. Not only knowing the content, but knowing the difference between the vocabulary. For example, knowing the difference between addition and subtraction. If a student does not know the different between both, the problem will be incorrect. A teacher must teach a student the vocabulary in their classroom. They should use the first 10 to 15 minutes reviewing any vocabulary that would be used that day. In addition, they should provide examples for each word. For example, if they are explaining a program they should define the words they are using to refresh the students who are lost and confuse during the lecture. The benefits of using this strategie with Sam is that every time Sam sits down in class he would be able to have his mind refreshed. The construction of the Berlin wall was one of the pivotal moments of the Cold War as it served as a physical illustration of the iron Curtain . Today however, Germany has become the economic hotspot of the EU so evidently the Cold War only hindered/delayed the inevitable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. The During The Civil War As tumultuous as the United States was during the Civil War, the period of reconstruction was filled with a similar sense of uncertainty; the Confederate states had to be assimilated back into the Union but there were many conflicting views on how this should be done. While the Thirteenth Amendment had already emancipated the Africans living in the Southern territories, it did not guarantee them equal treatment. Still up for debate was whether Africans would be given the equal protection under the law, citizen status, and the right to vote. While the South had been defeated militarily, it still fought to preserve its way of life through politics, and much of the political debates during the Reconstruction period would define the futures of the African Americans. The position of blacks in America had long been a point of debate, both ethically and politically. Many Northern people before the Civil War sympathized with African slaves and recognized that slavery might be morally wrong, but could not care less when it came to doing something about it; slavery, for the most part, was a Southern tradition and not their issue. However, as more states were being admitted to the Union, the issue of slavery became politically important for the North when maintaining the balance of slave states and free states. With the release Uncle Tom s Cabin, causing more Northern people to join the abolitionist movement, and the election of the slavery opponent Abraham Lincoln, the South felt ... A Hope that Restores: The Impact of Religion and Spirituality on Psychological Distress Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest (Matthew) . Everyone in life goes through a tribulation of some variety, including those who believe in a superior being. A common term for these people, that is, people who carry said belief, is religious, referring to a person who is devoted to the applications of a church or other institution, perhaps a synagogue. Although the two compliment each other, religion is not to be confused with spirituality. While religion focuses on involvement in a religious program, such as a church, spirituality is often thought to be a reserved and private experience, in which the partaker places meanings with events that are close to them as an individual. Religious and spiritual people alike have been studied over recent years in order to clarify theories which claim that coping with trauma in a religious manner has an effect on the outcome pertaining to how well the person copes. First of all, the matter of who is affected by trauma should be addressed. As previously stated, everyone experiences such ordeals at one occasion or another in their lifetime. However, people of greater extents of unique backgrounds, such as poverty or specific types of ethnicity, tend to be more prone to distress and the consequences resulting from. Also, while consequences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Mr Keating Influence In my opinion the two boys that were most affected by Mr. Keating, are Neil and Todd respectively. Both were affected in different ways and Mr. Keating had different effects on them. For Todd it takes a little while longer than Neil but he still seems to have been influenced greatly. Todd Anderson was a quiet and shy kid who couldn t find his voice. He was what people would call a follower in a group. Todd wouldn t add anything to a conversation unless asked a question. Basically he didn t want to be recognized or put in the spotlight. While attending Mr. Keating s classes you could see him change slightly. In fact, he even did something adventurous by joining the new dead poet s society. Although he was pressured into that it was still his decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A breakthrough for Todd was when Keating assigned to write an original poem and recite it in front of the class. At first Todd reveals he hasn t done the assignment; Keating up for the challenge of getting Todd more rambunctious he makes Todd go out in front of the class. Keating digs into Todd and Todd delivers a spectacular poem as he gains confidence in himself and his abilities. Perhaps the greatest example of Todd s growth was at the end of the movie. Mr. Keating is gathering his personal items from his office while the new English class is taking place. As Keating is about to step out the door Todd shouts to Keating that the school had made him sign a paper charging Keating with the responsibility of influencing a death. Todd is scolded by his new teacher and Keating is also asked to leave. Not worried about the consequences Todd stands on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
