Hazards of Robots in Manufacturing
Robot Hazards
Introduction: the aim of this assignment is to gain general awareness and an understanding of the legal
requirements and responsibilities that are involved in the safe working practices associated with
robotic assisted manufacture. This is to be achieved by the identification of associated hazards with
robotic applications and provide an understanding of how these hazards are overcome.
Typical sources of hazards associated with robotic operations within the working environment include.
· Crushing
· Shearing
· Striking
· Entrapment / entanglement
· Process hazards such as toxic fumes, welding flash, lasers, dust, coolant, high pressure water jet,
unguarded abrasive wheel etc.
· Fire – if the robot is function s by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Laser scanning devices
These are single devices which function by the use of a scanning laser beam to view and map an area.
This works by use of a two dimensional sensing zone, this zone is programmable thus enabling it to
recognise any stationary equipment within the scanning zone.
Guards / Physical Barriers
The standard barrier used to prevent access to a robot consists of a perimeter fence that is made from 2
m high rigid panels securely fastened to the floor or to some convenient structure and positioned so
that it is not possible to reach any dangerous parts of machinery.
The possibility of component ejection should also be considered when designing this type of barrier.
Fixed transparent barriers may be adequate. For most purposes, a hollow section steel framework in
filled with mesh is satisfactory.
Where regular access is required, the fencing may be provided with sliding or hinged interlocked
access gates; and/or an opening protected by a trip device.
Brakes or hydraulic/pneumatic stop valves
Should be incorporated to prevent the robot from moving or cause the gripper to release the load when
power is removed. Such as that in the event of an emergency stop.
Brakes should be provided where there is the danger of

Who Provides the Better Approach to Human Behaviour, Freud...
Why do we behave the way we do? Is our environment responsible for shaping our personalities?
Does childhood influence who we are? These are all questions that have intrigued philosophers and
society in general for centuries. There are many experts that share and dispute the answers to these
questions, but there are two in particular that have contributed greatly in finding explanations (Crux,
2006); Sigmund Freud and Burrhus Frederick Skinner. This essay will compare Freud s and Skinner s
approach towards human behaviour, highlighting the main ideas and focus of their theories and
subsequently coming to an informative decision as to who provides the better approach. This is
achieved by pinpointing criticisms that hinder their reasoning, ... Show more content on

For example; over concern about going regularly may cause either obsessive time keeping. The phallic
stage starts from about four years of age and is where the genitals become the focus for the child s
erotic energy, largely through self stimulation (Weiten, 2001, p. 495). During this fundamental stage
the Oedipus Complex emerges. That is little boys develop an erotically tinged preference for their
mother. They also feel resentment towards their father, whom they view as a challenger for their mum
s affection. Similarly, little girls develop a special connection to their father. At the same time they
learn that little boys have very different genitals, and supposedly they develop penis envy. The latency
and genital stages last from around age six through puberty, where the child s sexuality is greatly
suppressed (Weiten, 2001, p. 495). The latency stage focuses on expanding social contacts beyond the
immediate family. Subsequently, with puberty the child advances into the genital stage. Sexual drives
re emerge and the focus moves to the genitals once again. At this point, sexual energy is normally
channeled towards peers of the other sex, rather than towards ourselves as in the phallic stage. Freud
argued that future developments are rooted n early, formative experiences and that significant conflicts

Speech About Recycling At Home
Each year, the United Kingdom has been generating more than 290 million tonnes of waste each of
which nearly 10% comes from homes. Up until the 1980s, much of this waste was never recycled.
However, in the early 90s, the green revolution in Europe and North America led to the concept of
recycling. By the late 90s, there was more awareness of climate changes caused by humans and the
earth s valuable resources were being rapidly destroyed. Experts began to state that life would not be
sustainable for long and recycling was necessary. At the same time, the UK had joined the European
Union who encouraged a recycling program in the UK.
In just one decade, British citizens increased recycling of waste from 7.5% to 44%. Today, British
citizens recycle more household waste than what is sent to the landfill sites. Today most UK citizens
are being encouraged to participate in recycling at home. The good thing about recycling is that any
homeowner can participate because it is not an expensive undertaking. Some of the ways you can start
recycling at your home include the following:
1. Gift wraps: This is the season where people give each other presents. Avoid wrapping presents with
too much paper and limit the number of box fillers/bubble wrap. Make your own gift cards. You can
even reuse the gift paper to send gifts to others.
2. Recycle containers: In almost all households, plastic, tin, and cardboard make up a significant
amount of waste. These items can easily be separated and

The Effect of World Heritage Site Designation on...
1. Introduction
The city of Bath has become a World Heritage Site (WHS) since 1987, identified as a place of
outstanding universal value for its architecture, town planning, landscape, archaeological remains and
its role as a setting for social history , which is a unique WHS in Britain covering the whole city scale
instead of only historic core part (UNESCO, 2009).
Following the inscription of Bath from UNESCO (2009), which is astonishingly, undertaken with no
boundary , WHS designation became a remarkable label for Bath. A large increase in the number of
tourists to Bath after the designation, which makes Bath to be recognized by historic attractions

As Howard (2003) suggests that maintain heritages empty and change it to museum may the available
way in the future, even it might harm the benefits of operators.
2.2 Changes in Local community
2.2.1 Overcrowding and local people s life
Poria(2013) claims that some of the currently designated WHS, since they are recognized as part of
heritage, an increase in demand explosion and tourist boost would be happened. Visitors normally
attracted and associated by the iconic words World Heritage Site , and treat this site as a culturally
famous and major significance to world (Tucker, 2010). Therefore, the status of overcrowding in Bath
has drawn people s attention.
In order to balance the distance between the increasing tourism demand and the carrying capacity in
Bath, the living cost in bath has to increase, the local surrounding tends to be crowded. WHS
designation attracts more and more visitors to Bath, at the same time, it is creating troubles for
residents or people who need to living in Bath (Poria,2013).
The increasing popularity pressure could not only make house price, living cost increase, but also lead
to the heavy tourism traffic. As one of the symbols of modern tourists, most joyful travels possibly
rely on cars (Howard, 2003). This change could also be a challenge for Bath tourism, which is hard to
spare enough space for affording the increase parking

their products, this was based on their sales and it was accomplished thanks to the development of a
project named Global Water Replenishment project. They developed a system that in 2015 was able to
give back to the world more than the 115 percent of the water used by the company in that year. This
means that they were able to give back more water to the planet than the one they used to manufacture
their products, keeping the levels of potable water high, the initiative was a success and since 2015
they have been working towards bringing the percentages up, they work towards this goal and they
implemented clear rules to accomplish them, they focused in:

Partnership Is An Arrangement Between The Parties And...
Partnership is an arrangement between the parties and cooperates to carry on the business with mutual
benefits and interest. For determining partnership, there must be a valid contract, should posses mutual
rights, agency, interest and obligations with the view of making profit. The characteristics of
partnership are unlimited liability where the members of the company are legally bound for paying the
debt while dissolving of the company. When two or more people enter into a contract to share the
liabilities, risk and profit of a business firm is known as partnership. Partnership also includes
incorporated limited partnership, which means that one of the partners has limited liability among the
various partners involved in the company. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pros And Cons Of Data Security
On Piotrowski et alcite{Piotrowski}, the authors present a collaborative data storage (tinyDSM)
middleware that addresses the common problems of store data on wireless sensor networks (WSN)
using data replication on nodes of the network. However, in the proposal, the decision of the node to
assume the role of data replicators is static and uses a random criterion depends only on the number of
nodes and density of the network. It s created some problems if that node disappears from the
network.
On Lieskovsky et alcite{Lieskovsky}, the authors present a solution for data distribution and

the work does not address the persistence of data at the edge of the network, considering the dynamic

On Confais et alcite{Confais} the authors evaluate through performance analysis three off the shelf
object store solutions, namely Rados, Cassandra and InterPlanetary File

some computation processing power, so it is not applicable for simple devices, often found it in IoT

A first step to address the data persistence problem in the environment of Fog/Mist computing
(DPPF), it is to model the problem formally. Therefore, given $D$, a data block of size $L$, which it
wants to persist in the environment of Fog/Mist computing. Let s define $F$ as the network devices
located at the edge of the network, and dynamically composed by $n$ active devices at time stamp
$t$, among a total possible of $N_{t}$ devices. Therefore, let s assume that the set $F$ at the moment
$t$ can be represented by a graph $G(V, E)$. Where the set of vertex $V$ are the $n$ active devices at
the instant $t$, and $E$ the set of edges formed by the communication link between them.
In our approach, the devices that are part of $F$ at instant $t$,

Electronic commerce or ecommerce allow consumers to exchange goods and services. Most business
or companies are using this service to reach their customers. Ecommerce have expanded rapidly over
the past few years and it is still expanding widely. As we can see nowadays, lot of companies are
investing more money on ecommerce to expand their business because they can see that the business
can reach international market and make more profit [1][2].
One of the businesses that have expanded in the last few years is taxi services by going online and

Poor Countries Are Better Than Wealthy Countries Analysis
Are poor countries somehow different than wealthy countries? Poor countries are different than
wealthy countries in several aspects. Coming to terms with this realization may be somewhat
troublesome for some of us that leave in wealthy countries like the U.S., where per capita Gross
domestic product in 2009 was about $48,000, to get a handle on the way that around 2.5 billion
individuals, or about a large portion of the total populace, live on $2 or less a day. About 1.4 billion
live on under $1.25 a day. Craving, dinginess, and ailment are the standard in numerous countries of
the world (Mankiw, 2012). Human capital and capital are restricted and conveyed unevenly all
through the world and among individuals. Every individual and country has points of interest and
impediments, resources and liabilities. What constitutes riches comprise of various merchandise and
administrations for every person. When contrasting other poorer nations with wealthier nations there
is greater imbalance and constrained assets. In any case, despite the fact that a nation might be poorer
than another nation it might deliver products and enterprises at the most minimal relative cost. In what
capacity can firms and markets increment the abundance of poor nations? We should take for instance
firms from the Unified States and Japan, despite the fact that not poor nations, each firm create a hefty
portion of a similar decent. Apple and Sony vie for similar clients in the market for advanced music

Ethos Pathos Logos
Advertisement Success and the Use of Ethos, Logos, and Pathos
The main purpose of commercials and advertisements is to persuade the viewer to purchase the
product that is advertised, but not all commercials are successful in this endeavor. Companies, such as
Budweiser and Kleenex, appeal to the viewers ethos, logos, and pathos in order to influence them to
buy the advertised product(s). In order to appeal to each of the categories, companies use different
tactics to catch viewers attention. The use of ethos, logos, and pathos can make or break an
advertisement based on how it is being used.
Budweiser first released its Lost Dog commercial during Super Bowl XLIX (49). The advertisement
centers itself around a small dog who, out of curiosity, enters a truck trailer without the knowledge of
his owner. The dog then attempts to find its way back home but encounters an obstacle that it cannot
overcome a hungry wolf. When all hope seems lost, the dog s best friends, the Budweiser trademarked
Clydesdale horses, come to save him. The dog and horses all make it back home to their owner at the
end of the advertisement.
The commercial appeals to the audience s pathos more than anything. Animals, especially dogs, have
a way of pulling with human heartstrings. ...they can be used to transfer desired meanings to the
products with which they are associated (Phillips 1). In other words, using animals in advertisements
can link advertised products to the feelings that are associated

The Poisonwood Bible Book Report
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. A book that I never expected to read because of my
stance on avoiding religious books, but oddly enough I could not put it down. The book is a
representation of culture arrogance, racism, greed, ignorance, and imperialism that occurred through
1959 and on. The book introduces a religious, missionary family from Georgia who are headed to the
village of Kilanga in Belgium Congo. What grabbed my attention in the beginning is that each
member in the family, which happens to be all girls, has their turn to tell their story through their eyes,
except oddly enough the overly religious evangelical Baptist father, who s only purpose is to spread
the name and views of God to the Congolese.
Each daughter is different from the other. You have the oldest, who s to ignorant to try to understand
the culture of the Congolese and just wanted to go back to the US where her beauty belonged. Two
twins who are complete opposites because of a disease that harmed the younger s mind rendering her
crippled and mute, but gave her the most beautiful and dark view of the world. The oldest twin who
believed every word her father says is right and plans to follow in his footsteps. Next the youngest
daughter who is too young to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gender Socialization Is The Process Of Learning Gender...
Why is it that despite making up 55.5 % of the United States population women hold only 19.6 % of
seats on the U.S Congress, 4.6% of CEO positions (S P 500 companies), and 13.2% of school
superintendent positions? Many people believe that women are intellectually inferior, and/or lack the
desire to reach the top. However, these individuals are misguided in their belief about the professional
and interpersonal strengths that most women possess. The disproportionate number of women in
prominent positions is a result of a historical tradition of gender socialization that facilitates
prejudicial practices within the work environment. Gender socialization is the process of learning
gender roles and expectations. It is what determines which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As a result, women speak more tentatively, apologize more, and interrupt less than men. Ultimately,
this leaves the impression that men are more confident and capable, and therefore, better leaders
(Lakoff, 1975). This impression, coupled with the perception of aggression as a predominantly
masculine trait, can lead to unwelcoming work environments in which women may experience double
standards, bias in assessments, as well as harassment. For instance, many women experience co
workers telling inappropriate jokes and making sexually oriented remarks toward them. One woman
recounts, it happened so often that I stopped telling [my boss] about it (Angyal, 2015). In this way
gender socialization may prevent women from obtaining high level positions or cause them to miss
out on opportunities to advance in their careers.
Women have to maneuver through many obstacles some more apparent than others in order to climb
up the corporate ladder. Every day women fall prey to vertical segregation (also known as the glass
ceiling ), which refers to a barrier that keeps women from rising to the upper rungs of the corporate
ladder. Eventually, these obstacles create a reality in which it is rare to see a woman ascend to upper
level positions. For example, women become teachers and principles, while men are superintendents.

Organic Food Vs Organic Foods
Organically grown foods are not new to the world, they have been around since Native Americans
lived on the land. Most people do not buy organic goods because of the cost and fear that the foods
have been contaminated with different types of disease insects carry. Some do not even know what
organic foods are; organic foods are foods produced by organic farming. while the standards differ
worldwide, organic farming in general features cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that
foster recycling of resources, promote ecological balance a conserve biodiversity (Arnett, 1). The U.S
Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates the organic food and make sure it is clean enough for
human consumption. Different health organizations around the country try to encourage people to add
organic to their diet. Conventional food chemicals are polluting the soil and finding their way into
people s water systems and slowly destroying their bodies. The destruction finds its way through the
consumption of the food or the chemicals in the water. Despite the cost difference, organically grown
foods are better than non organic foods because they are healthier for human consumption, are more
sustainable for the environment, and support the local food movement. All over the world people are
making the switch to organic because it is a better choice for one s health. Some people may not even
know what organic grown food is. Organic is a substance that is grown and not treated with any

Application Verification Calibration Circuit For Workstations
Our capstone project, DDR4 INTERFACE DESIGN VERIFICATON FOR SERVERS aims at the
design verification calibration circuit for high speed interfaces for memory subsystems. These
interfaces allow for data transfer to and from the memory to facilitate interoperability. During the
initial phase, we thoroughly studied the unique features and requirements of DDR4, the latest and
fastest version of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) and the implications of those factors
for controller and physical layer design. In this project, my initial focus was on the physical layer that
connects the DDR4 memory to its controller. After an extensive literature review, I narrowed my focus
to the design and verification of calibration circuit, which is going to be used to calibrate resistance
and slew rate of drivers at IO buffers to provide better communication with external devices. 2.1.
Overview The DDR4 memory works at twice the data rate of its predecessors. This is facilitated by
the physical layer, which needs to be capable of reliably handling twice the data rate than it did with
the previous version of DRAM, DDR3. At the integrated circuits level, several changes have been
made to allow for this. Owing to these changes in specifications, the DDR4 subsystem is capable of
achieving the doubled data rates at a lower power consumption allowing for prolonged battery life in
devices employing this

Review Of Joan Templeton s A Doll House Backlash
Joan Templeton s The Doll House Backlash: Criticism, Feminism, and Ibsen criticizes author, Henrik
Ibsen and his feminist societal drama, A Doll House. Templeton s article discusses multiple criticisms
of A Doll House theme and one of its main characters, Nora Helmer. In the beginning of the article,
Templeton opens her criticism with comparing A Doll House theme to William Shakespeare s Richard
II theme. The Doll House Backlash: Criticism, Feminism, and Ibsen has many opinions on whether or
not the play contributes to feminism and how did Nora Helmer s character explore feminism
throughout the play? Templeton s article helped analyze Ibsen s intentions when writing A Doll House.

Evidence in Templeton s article supports her assertions about Ibsen s text, because it explains how the
text can be related to every human s truth. Obviously, Templeton believes that A Doll House does not
represent a societal feminist drama but a societal drama for humans in everyday life. Templeton says,
it is argued, never meant to write a play about the highly topical subject of women s rights; (28).
When researching A Doll House, Templeton realized that numerous critics made Ibsen s play into a
promotion for propaganda feminists (28). Feminists believed that A Doll House was created to speak
on the struggle and rights of women. Joan Templeton s argument about feminism is convincing
because she supports Ibsen s intentions as being a person that just speaks the truth about humans let

Literary Analysis Of The Thing In The Forest
The literary device that is going to be used to pair up with the primary context is Symbolism. In the
Story The Thing in the Forest, there is plenty of symbolism in this short story. The whole story is
essentially a symbol. There are plenty of objects in this story that have a very different meaning,
referencing to the time period in the piece of literature. In The Thing in the Forest there is a great deal
of symbolism. For example the whole story is a symbol for the war going on at that time, WWII. In
the story it talks about how the girls and a number of other children went on a train to escape the cities
that were most likely being hit hard by the war. There are two girls that have plenty of different
meanings to them that can mean so many things, the house that they were at for a while, and of course
the thing that also has many meanings to it.
In The Thing in the Forest, let s start off with the beginning of the story. In the second paragraph it
talks about Penny and Primrose, the main characters in the story. It describes the girls very precisely,
Penny was thin and dark and taller, possibly older, than Primrose, who was plump and blond and
curly. Primrose had bitten nails, and velvet collar on her dressy green coat. Penny had a bloodless
transparent paleness, a touch of blue in her fine lips. (Byatt 325). The symbolism in this sentence can
mean that Penny had an imaginary friend, which was Primrose, that possibly died. We can infer this
because the author

The Use of Biometrics
There have been use of Biometrics which can be traced as far back to 500 BC, but where does its
future lay in the 21st century and beyond? Exactly what is Biometrics and its proposed applications;
will it truly be as useful or will it be a hindrance? Currently, which nations along with the international
corporations are in the market for such a medium and who are the pioneers, trying to advance
Biometrics; into something more streamlined? Will Biometrics truly have as much of an impact on the
digital industry as predicted? Or is it all hype? Lastly, what are the advantages and disadvantages
when applying Biometrics in today s world?
What do we define as biometrics, is it something which can be emulated by another being or is it
absolutely unique to one s self that it can never be copied and disturbed for others to use? By
definition, Biometrics is derived from the Greek words bio meaning life and metrics meaning to
measure. By today s standards, Biometrics uses cutting edge technologies to identify terrorists and
criminals. (Nadeau) Many revolutionary ideas regarding Biometrics have been based on ideas which
were originally conceived hundreds, maybe even thousands of years ago. Since the early days of man,
we have been practicing to distinguish other humans based on intrinsic physical or behavioral traits.
Early Babylonian and Chinese merchants kept records of: fingerprints, palm prints, and even
footprints to manage business transactions and census records.

Nuclear Bomb Devastation Analysis
Nuclear bombs destroy important locations in the targeted region. Homes in the affected region would
be severely damaged by the blast: Just when I thought, This is terrible, there was a boom. The roof fell
in the house, and the doors all fell over (Irby, 2014). A survivor of the nuclear detonation in
Hiroshima, named Rebecca Irby, spoke to interviewers and told them the details of the detonation
from her perspective. All places that were historically or religiously significant to the country are
destroyed: The explosion [in Hiroshima] sucked in the surrounding atmosphere and air into a
minuscule space which, inevitably, collapsed in on itself, and at the speed of sound expanded
outwards in a series of shock waves which tore everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Those who experienced the effects of the nuclear explosions in Japan recall horrifying memories
related to the event: Everybody who got burned, burned all over the outside of their bodies. Small
maggots, white maggots, were all over them. It wasn t a pleasant sight (Irby, 2014). Rebecca could
remember and tell the interviewers about one of the disturbing effects the bomb had on people, nearly
seventy years after the event. Survivors mourn the deaths of loved ones. The only thing Irby s son
knew was that his mother s beloved father passed away due to the bomb. He never knew the details of
his death, because she rarely talked about it (Irby, 2014). Rebecca demonstrated that she mourned the
death of her father, and discussing the details of the subject was uncomfortable for her to talk about,
decades after the event had occurred. Therefore, the sheer power of a nuclear bomb is capable of
permanently altering the lives of those who were affected by the blast.
Nuclear bombs cause victims of the attack more damage than is necessary, as significant locations,
natural regions, and the physical and mental states of individuals would all suffer from the effects. All
buildings caught in the blast, including those significant to the country s history, religions, and people
will be rendered unrecognizable. The surrounding

Argumentative Essay On Beauty Pageants
In 1854 instead of judging woman or young girls on their looks, Phineas Taylor Barnum began
judging animals on their looks, this was the first beauty pageant. The first swimsuit competition was
held in 1880 at a festival to bring business however, it soon became a summer tradition . Women from
all around the world became interested in them, wanting to be seen as the perfect woman. Currently,
there are 3 different types of beauty pageants, a glitz pageant consists of the contestants wearing heavy
makeup, crystal decorated clothes and wearing slip on veneers. Another type of pageant is named a
semi glitz pageant which is very similar to the glitz pageant , except contestants are not allowed to
wear any hair pieces or slip on veneers. The third type of pageant is referred to as the natural pageant ,
contestants are permitted to wear natural makeup and will be disqualified if any hair piece or slip on
veneers are worn. Each of these different pageants are taken very seriously by its contestants with the
goal in mind of winning the crown. Many contestants will often make drastic or permanent changes,
forced by their guardian or parent(s) if they think they have a better chance of winning. Beauty
pageants exist only to judge girls based on their looks, which can be extremely damaging, both
physically and emotionally, therefore beauty pageants should be prohibited around the world to help
end the constant discrimination and unreal expectations of women and young girls.

Nabokov Letter To Lolita
Nabokov uses a letter to Humbert from Lolita to insure that although she says mean things about him
and repeatedly insults hum she does in fact feel a strong attraction to Humbert. Nabokov s purpose in
this excerpt is to convey how Loloita hides her love for Humbert by telling him to leave. To achieve
this hidden meaning Nabokov uses Lolita s dialogue and sarcasm. Although Lolita knows she is in
love with Humbert she thinks if she points out their differences in opinion she may lose her feelings
toward Humbert. Nabokov uses Lolita s tone towards Humbert to prove she does love him even while
she is saying things about him that she doesn t love. Nabokov ultimately uses Lolita s dialogue to
show hidden meaning in Lolita s letter.
Lolita feels very strongly about religion and doesn t appreciate he fact that Humbert is an extremely
unreligious man. Last Sunday in Church bad you who refused to come (Nabokov). Lolita repeatedly
reminds Humbert of his absence in Church even when he was asked to make an appearance by Lolita
and her mother. Lolita is trying to make herself feel worse about her love for Humbert by convincing
herself just how bad he really can be. The fact that Lolita is very religious and Humbert isn t is another
reminder for her of why she should forget this love she has for him. Lolita is a very religious young

Humbert just might feel bad enough to console her and tell her how he feels about her. Lolita is
extremely smart for her age and knows enough about Humbert to figure out tricks to make her desires

Essay on Enlightened Despots
Enlightened Despots Enlightened despots believed that political change could best come from above;
from the ruler. However, they were encouraged by the philosophers to make good laws to promote
human happiness. How did these monarchs differ from earlier unenlightened monarchs of the past?
The difference lay in tempo. These new despots acted abruptly and desired quicker results. They were
impatient with all that stood in the way of their reforms. In addition, they justified their authority on
the grounds of usefulness, not divine right. These new monarchs were rational and reformist and they
regarded political change as possible and desirable. Frederick the Great, Catherine the Great, and
Joseph II are good examples of Enlightened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Catherine the Great was the German wife of Peter III. She corresponded actively with Voltaire and
other prominent eighteenth century thinkers, and paid lip service to their liberal ideas; but she did little
to reform or modernize Russia. She introduced such western ideas as pleased her, at the same time
increasing Russian autocracy and military power. In addition, she extended Russia s boundaries
southward and westward. Catherine joined with Austria and Prussia in three partitions that completely
eliminated independent Poland. On the death of Charles VI (1740), the Habsburg dominions passed to
his twenty three year old daughter Maria Theresa. The German princes ignored the Pragmatic
Sanction (1713) guaranteeing her succession, and looked forward to partitioning the Habsburg s lands.
Frederick the Great, who had just inherited the Prussian throne, was first to strike. He invaded Silesia
and won solid victories. Maria Theresa soon demonstrated that she had a strong mind and will of her
own. She went to Hungary s Magyar nobles and appealed for support. In exchange for her promise of
sovereignty within the Habsburg Empire, the Magyars offered her loyalty and the troops necessary to
resist the invaders. With Hungarian troops and British and Dutch financial aide she was able to fight
Prussia to a standstill, but she did not regain Silesia. The Empress Maria Theresa believed in the need
for reform. She increased taxes on

Effects Of Carpentry
Carpentry and the effects on the Environment The carpentry business presents a very harmful affect to
our environment and the people that work in the wood industry. The killing of trees is damaging the
oxygen our earth needs and also limits resources that can be acquired by people. The earth is already
in an inadequate state with pollution and not taking proper care of our surroundings. Also, the wood
industry is very harmful to the people that work and inhale the wood particles and dust which can
have very fatal effects to the lung and air cage in their daily lives. These factors can be limited if tree
cutting were reduced and carpentry workers used less wood, it could also be reduced if trees that were

It also kills pests and species to clear land. Wood and trees builds our beds and houses, and makes
other important things we use in our daily lives. The effects of tree cutting cause no harm to the
environment and in some ways are beneficial. Wood, hard, tough substance that forms the trunks of
trees, and that has been used for thousands of years as a fuel and as a material of construction ( Wood )
is a big part of the world as it is used universally for a lot of activities. For example to build a house
you have to use wood, to build a bed you most likely have to use wood, to build your own chair you
most likely have to use wood, and etc. The way people use wood is starting to place limitations on the
environment and the availability of carbon and other resources important to restore our oxygen. The
overall consensus of carpentry and woodworking is what is leading to the deterioration of the amount
of trees that are available on the planet whether it s for construction or personal projects. The world
needs to limit the amount of trees being slain and take precaution to save the environment. The more
trees being the cut the less resources and available oxygen and CO2 we have, and the risks of workers
of wood is a serious issue. Many of woodworkers put themselves in

People have been asking what FINA is going to do about the...
People have been asking what FINA is going to do about the world records set using the now banned
swim suits. Thirty eight of the forty two world records have been broken by swimmers wearing the
LZR Racer while it was legal. Twenty three of these records were set at the 2008 summer Olympics in
Beijing with the suits on. Ninety four percent of the gold medals were won by people wearing these
swim suits and eighty nine percent of the total medals won were by swimmers in these illegal suits
(Cole, 2008). These statistics say a lot about how much the polyurethane swim suits have changed the
sport of competitive swimming. Records are made to be broken, but it is a clear indication that these
suits should not be allowed when twenty three world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most plausible option, however, is to place an asterisk mark next to every record set with the
polyurethane swimsuits. Fortunately, FINA has come to this conclusion and from now on the records
set in the LZR Racer swim suits (or in any other now banned swim suit) will remain in their own
separate asterisked category. The old records held before the suits will also stand in a different
category to be broken by people wearing legal swim suits that are FINA approved and are going to
stay FINA approved. FINA has stated that world records in any competition will only be recognized as
world records if the swimmer was wearing a FINA approved swim suit (FINA, 2013). Both of these
categories should be equally credible, the only difference is some records are with the swim suits and
some are without the swim suits. This issue has caused a huge riot throughout competitive swimming.
FINA has done the best they can at covering up a mistake that shouldn t have been made in the first
place; swimming, however, will never be the same. If they bring these suits back, this will all happen
again. Why repeat past mistakes?
Legal Advancement in Swimming Accessories
Much has been done to improve swimming as a sport. After much research and experimenting, we
have learned that by making pools deeper and building gutters around the edges of the pool, we can
reduce the amount of waves working against the swimmer. Lane lines also help keep each swimmers
waves in their own

This works by use of a two dimensional sensing zone, this zone is programmable thus enabling it to recognise any stationary equipment within the scanning zone. Guards / Physical Barriers The standard barrier used to prevent access to a robot consists of a perimeter fence that is made from 2 m high rigid panels securely fastened to the floor or to some convenient structure and positioned so that it is not possible to reach any dangerous parts of machinery. The possibility of component ejection should also be considered when designing this type of barrier. Fixed transparent barriers may be adequate. For most purposes, a hollow section steel framework in filled with mesh is satisfactory. Where regular access is required, the fencing may be provided with sliding or hinged interlocked access gates; and/or an opening protected by a trip device. Brakes or hydraulic/pneumatic stop valves Should be incorporated to prevent the robot from moving or cause the gripper to release the load when power is removed. • 4. Who Provides the Better Approach to Human Behaviour, Freud... Why do we behave the way we do? Is our environment responsible for shaping our personalities? Does childhood influence who we are? These are all questions that have intrigued philosophers and society in general for centuries. There are many experts that share and dispute the answers to these questions, but there are two in particular that have contributed greatly in finding explanations (Crux, 2006); Sigmund Freud and Burrhus Frederick Skinner. This essay will compare Freud s and Skinner s approach towards human behaviour, highlighting the main ideas and focus of their theories and subsequently coming to an informative decision as to who provides the better approach. The phallic stage starts from about four years of age and is where the genitals become the focus for the child s erotic energy, largely through self stimulation (Weiten, 2001, p. 495). During this fundamental stage the Oedipus Complex emerges. That is little boys develop an erotically tinged preference for their mother. They also feel resentment towards their father, whom they view as a challenger for their mum s affection. Similarly, little girls develop a special connection to their father. At the same time they learn that little boys have very different genitals, and supposedly they develop penis envy. The latency and genital stages last from around age six through puberty, where the child s sexuality is greatly suppressed (Weiten, 2001, p. 495). The latency stage focuses on expanding social contacts beyond the immediate family. Subsequently, with puberty the child advances into the genital stage. Sexual drives re emerge and the focus moves to the genitals once again. At this point, sexual energy is normally channeled towards peers of the other sex, rather than towards ourselves as in the phallic stage. Freud argued that future developments are rooted n early, formative experiences and that significant conflicts in later years are replays from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Speech About Recycling At Home Each year, the United Kingdom has been generating more than 290 million tonnes of waste each of which nearly 10% comes from homes. Up until the 1980s, much of this waste was never recycled. However, in the early 90s, the green revolution in Europe and North America led to the concept of recycling. By the late 90s, there was more awareness of climate changes caused by humans and the earth s valuable resources were being rapidly destroyed. Experts began to state that life would not be sustainable for long and recycling was necessary. At the same time, the UK had joined the European Union who encouraged a recycling program in the UK. In just one decade, British citizens increased recycling of waste from 7.5% to 44%. Today, British citizens recycle more household waste than what is sent to the landfill sites. Today most UK citizens are being encouraged to participate in recycling at home. The good thing about recycling is that any homeowner can participate because it is not an expensive undertaking. Some of the ways you can start recycling at your home include the following: 1. Gift wraps: This is the season where people give each other presents. Avoid wrapping presents with too much paper and limit the number of box fillers/bubble wrap. Make your own gift cards. You can even reuse the gift paper to send gifts to others. 2. Recycle containers: In almost all households, plastic, tin, and cardboard make up a significant amount of waste. These items can easily be separated and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book introduces a religious, missionary family from Georgia who are headed to the village of Kilanga in Belgium Congo. What grabbed my attention in the beginning is that each member in the family, which happens to be all girls, has their turn to tell their story through their eyes, except oddly enough the overly religious evangelical Baptist father, who s only purpose is to spread the name and views of God to the Congolese. Each daughter is different from the other. You have the oldest, who s to ignorant to try to understand the culture of the Congolese and just wanted to go back to the US where her beauty belonged. Two twins who are complete opposites because of a disease that harmed the younger s mind rendering her crippled and mute, but gave her the most beautiful and dark view of the world. • 15. Gender Socialization Is The Process Of Learning Gender... Why is it that despite making up 55.5 % of the United States population women hold only 19.6 % of seats on the U.S Congress, 4.6% of CEO positions (S P 500 companies), and 13.2% of school superintendent positions? Many people believe that women are intellectually inferior, and/or lack the desire to reach the top. However, these individuals are misguided in their belief about the professional and interpersonal strengths that most women possess. The disproportionate number of women in prominent positions is a result of a historical tradition of gender socialization that facilitates prejudicial practices within the work environment. As a result, women speak more tentatively, apologize more, and interrupt less than men. Ultimately, this leaves the impression that men are more confident and capable, and therefore, better leaders (Lakoff, 1975). This impression, coupled with the perception of aggression as a predominantly masculine trait, can lead to unwelcoming work environments in which women may experience double standards, bias in assessments, as well as harassment. For instance, many women experience co workers telling inappropriate jokes and making sexually oriented remarks toward them. One woman recounts, it happened so often that I stopped telling [my boss] about it (Angyal, 2015). In this way gender socialization may prevent women from obtaining high level positions or cause them to miss out on opportunities to advance in their careers. Women have to maneuver through many obstacles some more apparent than others in order to climb up the corporate ladder. Every day women fall prey to vertical segregation (also known as the glass ceiling ), which refers to a barrier that keeps women from rising to the upper rungs of the corporate ladder. Eventually, these obstacles create a reality in which it is rare to see a woman ascend to upper level positions. For example, women become teachers and principles, while men are superintendents. The U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates the organic food and make sure it is clean enough for human consumption. Different health organizations around the country try to encourage people to add organic to their diet. Conventional food chemicals are polluting the soil and finding their way into people s water systems and slowly destroying their bodies. The destruction finds its way through the consumption of the food or the chemicals in the water. Despite the cost difference, organically grown foods are better than non organic foods because they are healthier for human consumption, are more sustainable for the environment, and support the local food movement. Application Verification Calibration Circuit For Workstations Our capstone project, DDR4 INTERFACE DESIGN VERIFICATON FOR SERVERS aims at the design verification calibration circuit for high speed interfaces for memory subsystems. These interfaces allow for data transfer to and from the memory to facilitate interoperability. During the initial phase, we thoroughly studied the unique features and requirements of DDR4, the latest and fastest version of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) and the implications of those factors for controller and physical layer design. In this project, my initial focus was on the physical layer that connects the DDR4 memory to its controller. After an extensive literature review, I narrowed my focus to the design and verification of calibration circuit, which is going to be used to calibrate resistance and slew rate of drivers at IO buffers to provide better communication with external devices. 2.1. Overview The DDR4 memory works at twice the data rate of its predecessors. This is facilitated by the physical layer, which needs to be capable of reliably handling twice the data rate than it did with the previous version of DRAM, DDR3. At the integrated circuits level, several changes have been made to allow for this. Owing to these changes in specifications, the DDR4 subsystem is capable of achieving the doubled data rates at a lower power consumption allowing for prolonged battery life in devices employing this ... Obviously, Templeton believes that A Doll House does not represent a societal feminist drama but a societal drama for humans in everyday life. Templeton says, it is argued, never meant to write a play about the highly topical subject of women s rights; (28). When researching A Doll House, Templeton realized that numerous critics made Ibsen s play into a promotion for propaganda feminists (28). Feminists believed that A Doll House was created to speak on the struggle and rights of women. Joan Templeton s argument about feminism is convincing because she supports Ibsen s intentions as being a person that just speaks the truth about humans let alone, not just female society. The worst aspects of The Doll House Backlash: Criticism, Feminism, and Ibsen was Templeton failing to address other characters in A Doll House. There are plenty of objects in this story that have a very different meaning, referencing to the time period in the piece of literature. In The Thing in the Forest there is a great deal of symbolism. For example the whole story is a symbol for the war going on at that time, WWII. In the story it talks about how the girls and a number of other children went on a train to escape the cities that were most likely being hit hard by the war. There are two girls that have plenty of different meanings to them that can mean so many things, the house that they were at for a while, and of course the thing that also has many meanings to it. In The Thing in the Forest, let s start off with the beginning of the story. In the second paragraph it talks about Penny and Primrose, the main characters in the story. It describes the girls very precisely, Penny was thin and dark and taller, possibly older, than Primrose, who was plump and blond and curly. Primrose had bitten nails, and velvet collar on her dressy green coat. Penny had a bloodless transparent paleness, a touch of blue in her fine lips. (Byatt 325). The third type of pageant is referred to as the natural pageant , contestants are permitted to wear natural makeup and will be disqualified if any hair piece or slip on veneers are worn. Each of these different pageants are taken very seriously by its contestants with the goal in mind of winning the crown. Many contestants will often make drastic or permanent changes, forced by their guardian or parent(s) if they think they have a better chance of winning.
