Examples Of Mise En Scene In V For Vendetta
V for Vendetta (2006) is a dystopian political thriller film which is directed by James McTeigue. Films
are not merely art form or product for consumption. They are also a form of social practice that
conveys and constructs meanings. In this short essay, I would try to discuss how the mise en scene and
editing in the film V for Vendetta conveys and constructs meanings in the falling dominoes scene.
Mise en scene (Props and Colour)
In films, mise en scene means the director s control over what appears in the frame that means how
the visual materials are staged, framed and photographed. In the falling dominoes scene, I would try to
focus on the props and colour.
In this scene, the most significant props used are V s mask and the falling dominoes. The simplest
purpose for V s mask is to not disclose V a real identity, but simply to create him an icon . The mask
becomes a motif in the film. It is a significant repetition that appear throughout the whole film and
develop a dominate idea that is everyone will die but the idea can alive forever. In this scene, V sent
out a large number of the masks and costumes to the public by BFC. He encourages people wear
masks and goes out to the streets against forced conformity. It shows that everyone ... Show more

It symbolizes the chain reaction that it states to a related order of actions where the time between
consecutive actions is comparatively slight. Even the beginning is just a little fuse, it will become a
out of control power after much fire and heat are collected. In this scene, it also brings out the idea of
the simmering resentment of the people and the Coming Collapse of the government. Audiences
attention always can be drawn to the dominoes by use of close up. In end of the scene, the simmering
resentment of the people has already met the peak. It shows that all of the condition of the rebellion
has completed and V controls all keys of the

Blessing Vs Bottled Water
Frequently people have always questioned if bottled water or tap water is better for themselves and
their community. Bottled water has no end of conveniences and is needed, or even wanted, by
numerous people in the United States and all over the world. Bottled water is not just a want for some,
it is a necessity. It has been used in many times of disasters, such as hurricanes, when tap or the
communities water is not available to them. Bottled water is convenient as well as a great resource to
have in a time of disaster. A reason that bottled water has been valued over tap water would be that it
is more portable. It is more convenient to just pick up a bottle of water than having to fill something
up and take it with on the journey. If someone is in a time crunch, one must need to ask himself/
herself as to what would be more convenient and time saving for said person and their busy lifestyle.
Fager states in his essay called The Top Ten Reasons (Plus Three) Why Bottled Water Is a Blessing,
Bottled water is fully portable, and thus versatile (3). In this excerpt, Fager proves the point of the idea
that bottled water is superior due to its amount of convenience. Therefore, this shows that if someone
is in a hurry, or need some extra time in their day, pick up bottled water and do not waste the time in
the day on tap when there is a more convenient solution. Bottled water is crucial and necessary during
multiple disasters. During disasters, numberless breakages can

Annotated Water
In this modern world, people need more efficient ways to grow food due to increased population. In an
effort to increase food production, scientists are testing novel methods of increasing plant growth. A
technology of interest is ozonated water. Ozonated water is infusing more oxygen into water. Infusing
oxygen into water is accomplished by using a machine called an ozonator which adds more oxygen
into water. The theory behind ozonated water is that ozonated water provides oxygen to the root of the
plant. Ozone improves the respiratory process [of the plant] at the cellular level, (Oz air.). Further
ozone makes a plant, free of virus, bacteria, fungi ... and other microorganisms, (Oz air.) Essentially,
ozone promotes fast and steady ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data was organized into two different groups ozonated and control plants with the plants on both
greenhouses being numbered 1 12 as shown in fig 3.On the bottom of chart I did calculations for
averages, standard deviation and T test. As shown in Fig. 3 there are 4 zeros on the Ozonated and one
zero on control. This was a result of them being duds and not being able to work with them. Looking
at how the data in the fig. 5 you see that the control always seems to be one step ahead then the
ozonated radishes. Now if we remove the zeros it s a slightly different story. Looking at figure 4 we
see that the average for day 5 that the ozonated radishes has a higher plant average. This is only
because with the 4 zeros being removed the 1.1, 1.58, 1.9 all weigh down the average for the whole
chart. Also, I noticed that in figure 6 that the gap between the two has shrunken drastically. This is
because the four zeros wore down the ozonated bar down compared to only one zero in the control
group. Also looking at the t test it shows that most if not all the data was by chance so this experiment

The Revolutionary Theory Of Class Struggle
Benjamin Guerrero
Prof. Fatovic / POT 3054
December 7, 2015
Progress through the Struggle
Karl Marx, chief characteristic was singleness of purpose, his idea of happiness was to fight and his
idea of misery was submission, his inspiration was the rebel slave leader Spartacus, who was a violent
gladiator fighting for his freedom. His favorite motto was that you must have doubts about everything
and lastly his favorite color was red. Many philosophers interpret the world, but the important thing is
to change it and Marx wanted to explain the conditions under which many citizens lived. Since The
Soviet Revolution from 1917, almost more than 30 countries have claimed to be inspired by Marx s
philosophy. The revolutionary theory of Class Struggle (PG 220, The Marx Engels reader) have
inspired a chain of revolutions throughout the world, but the Marxists states that have resulted, are not
what he advocated for. These new governments were violent, repressive, oppressive and autocratic.
One can find the promise of revolution hidden on his most famous and lengthiest work, his book
called Capital; A text that gave catalyst for the chain of ideas that have inspired a world movement.
The aim was not for the moral protest but to write a complex, far reaching, interconnected series of
books, articles and manifestos. Their aim was not at the moral protest at the evils of capitalism, but as
an explanatory analysis of how capitalism actually works, how it came about and how it

Carpe Diem
Both, To the Virgins, To Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick and A Psalm of Life , by Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow, conveys, through a persona, a matured perspective of Carpe Diem. Both poets
communicate their individual opinion, Longfellow s 19th century poem discusses the importance of
creating a legacy and leaving an impact on time, whereas Herrick s 17th century cavalier style poem
implies the significance of retaining the prime years of your life, and portrays the brevity of the life
cycle. These main aspects of Carpe Diem are expressed through various visual and auditory features to
manifest an idea to readers about how to seize the day.
In To the virgins, To Make Much of Time , Herrick uses a variety of visual techniques ... Show more

Herrick discusses the inevitability of death but the tone maintains the positive and cheerful nature. The
tone promotes optimism to us readers and reflects how Herrick views life. Herrick uses alliteration
throughout the poem, such as in stanza 1 with same and smiles , or stanza 2 with higher and he s .
These examples of alliteration create focus on the importance of the ideas the poet presents on Carpe
Diem. The auditory features cooperate to communicate Herrick s main ideas on the notion of how to
seize the day.
In A Psalm of Life , Longfellow develops ideas on Carpe Diem through visual representations. The
poet, using a powerful extended metaphor in stanza 5, expresses life as a battle using striking visual
imagery with the phrase, In the world s broad field of battle . A military battle negatively connotes
hardship and unpredictability , reflecting the nature of suffering in life. The metaphor continues
throughout the stanza conveying to readers not to be dumb, driven cattle whereas to be a hero in the
strife! . This compelling idea supports the theme of creating a legacy and promotes being courageous.
Longfellow reinforces his agnostic ideas, which are disagreed with by Herrick, about religion several
times in the poem, suggesting religion holds people back from seizing the day. In stanza 6, the

This prayvanganza is a group wedding. Twenty men known as Angels are to be married, and twenty
white veiled girls enter. They are the daughters of the Wives. The marriages are all arranged. They are
married to the angels. People in the whole districts had come to attend this ceremony including the
Econowives, the Marthas, the Hanmaids and the Wives. Their seats are arranged according to their
rankings. The area for the Handmaids is separated by ropes: our area is cordoned off with a silky
twisted scarlet rope, this rope segregate us, marks us off, keeps the others from contamination by us,
makes us a corral or pen; so into it we go, arranging ourselves in rows, which we know very well how
to do, kneeling then on the floor. (247) This visually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

each other. Once placed Ofglen reveals that the baby of Janine, Angela, was a shredder : It was no

in my opinion, it implies that something went wrong about the baby and the baby did not make it or it
is deformed and not sufficient enough for the society. It was hard to say whether Offred feels remorse
or triumph for Janine. Offred started to think about Janine s shoes: that s terrible, I say. It s like Janine
though to take it upon herself, to decide the baby s flaws were due to her alone. But people will do
anything rather than admit that their lives have no meaning. (249) Both Janine and Offred are
handmaids, after all, and giving birth to an healthy child is the same wish of them. Offred seems to
find in Janine an object of both pity and revulsion. While she is in the same position as the other
women at the Center, she seems to crave attention and behave differently from the others: she had
another child, once, I know that from the Center, when she used to cry about it at night, like the rest of
us only more noisily (144). Janine seems to cry more noisily than the other mothers who have lost
children as if to outdo them, as if her grief is more real or important. But now she had just lost her
newborn child and lost her glow of pregnant and anything she

While falls onto your buttocks have been the matter of funny side of slip and trip accidents are no joke

The Berlin Wall Of World War II
The Berlin Wall symbolized many things for different people. For the Germans it served as their
punishment from World War II, this punishment divided up their country and separated many people
from their families who might have lived in different parts of Germany. Everyday things that were
accessible to them like going to the grocery store or visiting family members were now made harder
since in order to cross to the other side of the wall people would have to go through security checks.
The Wall also represented death because if someone were to try to escape to the other side of the wall
they would be shot dead. To other countries the Berlin Wall represented communism as well as
division between two different forms of government. During ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During the Cold War people had been living in fear thinking that one day their country might be
bombed with a nuclear weapon. With the détente the nuclear anxieties were eased a bit. In 1972 a
discussion known as Strategic Arms Limitation Talks or SALT was held. United States President
Richard Nixon and Soviet President Leonid Brezhnev agreed to freeze a number of strategic ballistic
missile launches as well as reduce spending on nuclear weapons. The two countries also agreed to
limit their number of nuclear weapons. A second Strategic Arms Limitation Talk was held in 1979 this
time between United States President Jimmy Carter and Leonid Brezhnev. This time more controls
were put in place on strategic nuclear weapons and new missile programs were banned, however this
deal was not ratified by the U.S congress. The reason why this treaty was never ratified was because
President Carter was angry that the USSR had decided to invade Afghanistan. This goes to show that
there was a period of relaxation between the United States and the USSR; however tensions did start
to rise again when Afghanistan was invaded. The election of Mikhail Gorbachev as president of the
USSR is another example of thawing out of the Cold War. Gorbachev was regarded as a young and
reformist leader. In 1988 Gorbachev ordered that troops should with drawl from Afghanistan. Tony

Essay about Comprehensive study of Road Roughness in India
COMPREHENSIVE STUDY ON ROAD ROUGHNESS
Road roughness is the deviation of the pavement surface from a true planar surface with characteristic
dimension that affect vehicle dynamics, ride quality, dynamic load and drainage , for example
longitudinal profile, transverse profile, and cross slope(ASTM E867). By causing vehicle vibrations,
roughness has a direct influence on vehicle wear, ride comfort, and safety. The relationship between
vehicle operating cost and road roughness are well established through several studies conducted in
India and abroad. Roughness measurements are an important factor in making decisions towards
spending limited budgets for maintenance and improvements. Due to this, specifications for roughness
have been adopted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The roughness of the pavement causes change in the normal forces that act at the tyre pavement
interface and affects the lateral forces needed to control a vehicle, thereby influencing the steering
capabilities of the vehicle. Roughness can also cause significant loss of breaking force or slip
resistance on a vehicle. In addition to this, problems can arise due to variation of roughness in each of
the wheel tracks of a lane. These differences of roughness in each wheel path cause differences in the
breaking and sliding forces that act on the vehicle. This will cause the exposure of vehicle to different
levels of friction on each side, which can cause a significant safety problem.
Effect on Vehicle Operating Cost
The Vehicle Operating Cost (VOC) components consist of fuel consumption, oil consumption, tyre
wear, maintenance and repair, and depreciation. Road surface roughness is one of the factors
determining VOC. While increasing roughness increases fuel consumption at any given speed,
increasing roughness also reduces travel speed, which reduces fuel consumption per unit distance for
most free running travel speeds. Repair and maintenance cost is also get affected by road roughness.
Effect on Vehicle Riding Comfort
Vehicle s riding quality varies with travel speed, the dynamic characteristics of the roughness of the
road. Assessment of ride quality and road roughness by measuring the

Miss Fozzard in Alan Bennett s Talking Heads Essay
Miss Fozzard in Alan Bennett s Talking Heads
The video, Talking Heads Two was made in 1998. It is a collection of six dramatic monologues by
various different actors, each one telling their own story. Bennett wrote a series of monologues in
1988 for BBC 2 at a time when they were having financial difficulties. Monologues were chosen as
they only required a few actors and cameramen. They were successful and Bennett decided to write a
second series of monologues, the one which I am going to study is called Miss Fozzard finds her feet
and I will be discussing how Alan Bennett creates her character and how her story is told.
The monologues were written for, and shown on television. The use of ... Show more content on

The title Miss Fozzard finds her feet lets the audience guess at what might happen in the monologue.
The use of the pun finds her feet tells us two things about the story she is going to tell. Firstly, that
Miss Fozzard has to find a new chiropodist to look after her feet when her old chiropodist Mr Suddaby
moves away. Secondly, before this monologue was written, Miss Fozzard seems to have a fairly
uneventful life, now however, she seems to have plenty of stories to tell the audience. By the end of
the monologue she seems to have an eventful and fulfilling life. So in other words she has Found her
feet in life and chiropody.
Also in the title there is humour. The name Miss Fozzard suggests humour and a character whose
traits suggest they are rather ditzy and slow to catch on which is true in Miss Fozzard s case. For
example when Bernard calls Miss Fozzard a cow she doesn t realise he is insulting her. This type of
humour is very tongue in cheek as it is used in her name. Her name is a source of humour and she
judges people by their names. She repeats her name a lot in the monologue especially when someone
she respects says it in conversation.
In the opening section, Miss Fozzard s character is built up immediately with the use of the phrase Bit
of a bombshell today which introduces the war imagery which I will later explain. Miss

Benefits Of Staying Single In Japan
Staying Single is Popular in Japan When people talk about what family is, the first image in my mind
is that a father and his son are sitting on the deep green grass beside a jewelry blue lake, and colorful
birds are singing while the sun is shining on their smiling faces, which is a good example from Once
More to the Lake (White). What is a family? In my opinion, a family is that the people have the close
relationship and share the responsibility for each other. In a family, people love each other and follow
the same value, and they share the same sorrow and happiness, and they support each other, such as
the father s helping his son to do carpentry from The Inheritance of Tools (Sanders). Considering for
these, a family seems like at least two persons in people s traditional opinions. If more and more
people want to stay single instead of getting married, what and how will affect our society? I have
some Japanese friends in International Education Center, which is an ESL school for international
students. They tell me that living single has been popular in Japan, and they have some relatives who
prefer to a single life. Staying single in Japan is increasing because of the pressure of finances for
supporting a family, and this kind of trend results in the growth rate of population is declining, which
gives a great challenge to Japanese society. There are more people who want to stay single, which is a
significant trend in Japan. The reason might be that it is more

Theories Of The Great Man Theory
Great man theory
This theory evolved around the 19th century, and was originally proposed by Thomas Carlyle. The
great man theory is basically assuming that, only an individual that was born with greatness is indeed
great. The focus on great leaders were limited to only men, as women were not seen as leaders in any
way. Leaders are born and not made (leadership theories). From this statement, Thomas Carlyle is
making it clear that a person cannot be made a great leader by any extrinsic means, but it must be
intrinsic traits of leadership that this person was born with, that can enable him to become a great
leader. Great leaders will arise when there is a great need (leadership theories). By this, Carlyle meant
that you may see a great leader every day without even knowing that this person is a great leader, but
as soon as the need arises for a great leader you will then recognize the individual that was gifted to be
the great leader in completing that specific task. This theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This leadership theory argues that there is no specific way of leading, rather a leadership style should
be based on the situation. This means that when a person is set to lead, they will perform at maximum
level, however as soon as they are taken out of their element this level of performance may fall. Also,
a leadership style that worked well in one situation may not work well in another situation and so it s
based on how a leader adjust in various situations. To a certain extent contingency leadership theories
are an extension of the trait theory, in the sense that human traits are related to the situation in which
the leaders exercise their leadership. (leadership theories). I agree with this statement, since an
individual in leadership mode would indeed possess better characteristic traits than when they are not
leading. This theory also assumed that leaders are more likely to express their leadership when they
feel that their followers will be

painting of the Torture of Cuauhtemoc. Below is the specific text for Leandro Izaguirre s Torture of
Cuauhtemoc. The main figure in this painting is Cuauhtemoc, who was an heir to the meshika
emperor, and he is being tortured by Hernando Cortes. Cuauhtemoc represents the imperial, elite
Indian of the past by his portrayal as a noble emperor. The other Indian, meanwhile, represents the
current pathetic and barbaric Indian, as his face is scrunched up in pain. This romantic image is
enforced further through the power struggle of Cortez and Cuauhtemoc, as they are placed as equals

Leadership Is An Influential Process
Introduction
Leadership quality plays a key role in the success of the any organisation. Leadership is the ability of a
superior to induce subordinates to work with confidence and zeal (Brown, 2014). Leadership is an
influential process. In other words, we can say leadership is an ability of a company s management to
make sound decisions and inspire others performs well. Leadership is the art of motivating a group of
people to act towards achieving a common goal. Leadership is a winning combination of personal
traits and the ability to think and act as a leader, a person who directs the activities of others for
achieving the goals of subordinates and organisation s goals (Lunenburg, 2011). Leadership is about

It could be ensured that the rise of Emotional Intelligence idea has refreshed power attribute approach
which backtracks to 1930s (Robbins, 2001), however this time with a broad refinement, reverse to
countless qualities included in differing trademark characteristics (especially IQ), emotional
intelligence can be created.
Emotional intelligence is broadly known to be a key part of effective leadership. Understanding how
the brain works and how the emotional response works should also be an element in where we place
colleagues within our organisations (Brown, 2014). Having the capacity to relate behaviours and
difficulties of emotional intelligence on workplace performance is an immense point of interest in
building an outstanding team (Lunenburg, 2011). Also, Emotional intelligence should refer to
heightened mental capacities including thinking about feeling, for example, recognizing what
someone else is feeling, and that this should include extensive thinking as opposed to preferred ways
of behaving (Lunenburg, 2011). Their altered meaning of emotional intelligence was then advanced as
the capacity to perceive emotions, to access and produce emotions in order to help thought, to
understand emotions and emotional knowledge and to brilliantly regulate emotions in order to
promote emotions and intellectual development (Kulkarni,

The Social Contract Theory Of Society
The social contract theory is the view that in order to form a stable society, a contract or agreement
must made implementing the people s ethical and political obligations . Before this theory people
lived in the state of nature meaning, there was no government and no laws were enforced to control
their community . Everyone did what they wanted freely. Although freely may sound like a good
thing; when someone committed, what we call in today s society, a crime, they received no
punishment for it back then . The Social Contract was a way for people to organize their own
government and assemble laws that had to be followed by everyone. Doing so, allowed people to find
understanding in how administration and authority works, and allowed ... Show more content on

As time went on a theorist arose, a man named John Locke. Along with him having a different
perception of the social contract theory compared to Thomas Hobbes, he also had a different view on
what the state of nature was. Locke was actually the most influential theorist to the founding fathers,
specifically Thomas Jefferson . The third theorist was John Rawls. Rawls name for his theory of the
social contract was actually often called the A Theory of Justice . These three theorists of the Social
Contract have strong beliefs about how a government should work and what concepts are most
important, as well as I do. I ve proposed a Social Contract that s based on different views and different
philosophical justifications from these three theorists. My social contract is based on a very thoughtful
and intellectual idea of fariness and equality among our nation. Before societies came into existence
people lived an ordinary life. Everyone went through accomplishments and tragedies, as we do now.
However, people didn t have laws implemented to protect them from any type of crime. Regulations
weren t put into action to eliminate the taking advantage of lower class citizens. I ve based my Social
Contract off of the issue of crime and people in higher ranking taking advantage of others below them.
My social contract is an agreement between the people and those holding specific positions in the
government, where the main focus is equality and fairness being present between

Project Requirements Of AAir Quality
3 Feasibility Study
3.1 Project requirements
The main requirements of this project is to create a solution that is capable of detecting a change of air
quality in a room(s) without a physical connection to the sensor and the web page host.
The sensor must be able to detect a change in air quality such as temperature and humidity. A wireless
network connection will be required so that data can be submitted to a webpage which will be
constantly updated via a live stream.
There must be some form of interaction with the end user, being able to send an alarm warning the
user about the room condition or a warning system on the sensor webpage with an alert on the page.
Also the webpage must be able to display multiple results in the event additional sensors are added.
3.2 Potential solutions and technical feasibility
I have three potential solutions, however there is only a slight variation between them, as a result, I
will make statements on the changes in the following solutions, and note in the title will cover what
area the solution covers to prevent repetition.
3.2.1 Solution 1 Temperature humidity sensor with XML data format
The first stage would be to build or obtain(both have advantages, building a sensor is more flexible
plus be more accessible but would be time consuming whereas obtaining one would be more
restrictive but it would save time for more important tasks) a sensor that can detect fluctuations in
temperature and humidity.
The next step would be to

What Is The Theme Of Law And Order In Lord Of The Flies
William Goldings Lord of the Flies represents the theme of Law and order throughout the novel.
During the novel the group of the boys are stuck on an island and some turn into savages. Golding
uses symbolism, characters and actions to represent law and order.
The conch was the first thing to gather all the boys on the island, for a meeting. The boys then
discussed how things should be done and they elect to vote for a chief. Him with the shell. Ralph, the
fair haired, good looking boy is voted as chief. But he isn t voted chief because of his age, leadership
skills or any form of democracy. Ralph was voted in as chief because he was the one who blew the
conch. The conch that would call the boys to sort out and discuss all the problems that they would
have over the months that the boys would spend on the island. During these meetings, the conch didn t
just call them, the conch allowed the holder to speak. To express their thoughts and ideas to all the
other boys. But as soon as fear and bloodthirst took over their minds, the conch didn t mean anything
to them and once this happened there was no way of getting them back. Soon Jack, Ralphs hunter,
turned too and decided to start his own group. Who ll join my tribe and have fun? Boy by boy, more
kids started to join Jacks tribe. Eventually the conch smashes and all breaks loose on the island. The
conch represented law and order on the island and once the conch was destroyed, Ralph s rules went
with it.

Amelia Earhart Speech
Have you ever been daring enough to think outside the box or do something out of the ordinary?
Maybe you have, or maybe you ve been too scared to do it. Someone who wasn t afraid was Amelia
Earhart. She did something no one else had done or attempted to do before. Amelia Earhart, daring
and outgoing from the start of her life, achieved many things, which is why she should be remembered
because, indeed, flying is what ended her life.
Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1898, in Atchison, Kansas. Around 1907, her whole family
moved to Des Moines, Iowa. Amelia was a full out tomboy during her whole childhood. She once slid
a sled off a barn roof, calling it a roller coaster. She also played all the sports that, normally, only boys
played like football and basketball. During the summer of 1907, Amelia s dad, Edwin, took her and
her sister, Muriel, to the Des Moines State Fair. Edwin was really attracted to the model airplane at the
fair. On the other hand, Muriel and Amelia, surprisingly, were unamused. They just thought the plane
was boring. (Lardner, 205 207).
In 1917, Amelia and her mother took a trip to Toronto, Canada, even though, there was a war
happening. Amelia saw wounded soldiers on her left and right. She knew she had to help in some way.
So, she stayed in Toronto and became a nurse s aid. This began her path down the medical and nursing
road. After the war, Amelia started premedical nursing school in New York. (Lardner, 207).
Amelia s love for planes started to

Persuasive Essay On Texas
This is America. We re entitled to our opinions. Wrong. This is Texas. And my opinion is the only
want that matters (Susan Elizabeth Phillips). Oh, how this quote is so accurate. Texans believe that
what they say is always right no matter what. You can t talk bad about a true Texans. I remember my
first day is Texas like it was just yesterday. People used to say how everything is bigger in Texas, and
they weren t lying. Just the drive seemed like it was never going to end. I remember thinking about
only seeing open road and people riding on horses everywhere in cowboy boots and hats. Too bad that
wasn t true, well not the riding around on horses and everybody in cowboy boots and hats. All I saw
was trees all around me and gigantic hills that you couldn t see anything over. Although, it seemed like
it was never going to end; there was some good things about my drive. Just to see how Texas took
pride in their state and the beautiful scenery. I remember when I first saw don t mess with Texas sign
and thought to myself, Wow they are really serious. The monuments and statues of past Texans stood
tall and how you can drive on the median to take pictures with the Texas signs. So, in all it wasn t that
bad.
Texans are cool, unless you re talking about their football team. Texans take pride in football like no
other state. They would ride or die for them; win or lose. Now, I m from Louisiana and I love my city,
but I grew love for Texas. I may not be native but I can see the difference between the two states.
Texas is way bigger than what I was expecting and the traffic is a killer. You ll think that it would be
better because they have more highways and more lanes, but it s not. Texans cannot drive and believe
that they own the whole road with their humongous trucks. So, I had to learn how to drive like a
Texans.
Texans a truly country and they love them some country music. Their accent is like no other. When
you hear a Texan talk, you must stop and think what they mean. You begin to question your sanity
when you talk to a Texans. I didn t know if I should be insulted or appreciated about what they said.
You begin to understand them after being down here after some time, but that s what most people say

Compare And Contrast Essay On Julius Caesar
Do good motives make bad actions good? You could narrow the motives down to planning for the
future, wanting for a better nation, or hoping for a better leader. Planning for the future could be
justified by some peoples moral compasses by saying they plan for the future out of genuine care,
other could say that the future could not be justified by genuine care. Maybe the fuel of planning for
the future is fear of the future. If you are wanting a better nation, it could easily be spurred on by
lusting for a nation or empire, because you are envious of other nations, or it could spurred on by a
genuine love for your nation and the best for it. Hoping for a better leader is a natural wish, because as
humans we are discontent. Therefore we need weigh our motives based on whether we want a new
leader because we have true hope in a new leader, or we simply hate those currently in authority over
us. Whilst one is reading Julius Caesar, one must be concerned with the moral happenings in the book,
such as Antony s planning for Rome, Brutus killing of Caesar, and ... Show more content on

Making it clear to Cassius that he would not be lead into dangers, he acts sarcastic about Caesar s
triumph and support. He seemed snarky at first, but as one searches deeper, it would seem that he did

decides it can only be solved by death, and believes it is for the welfare of the people, and believes
that he has never known a time when his heart ruled his head. Soon after, Brutus starts preparing for
Caesar s death. Following Caesar s death, he asks Antony to not censure him and Cassius at Caesar s
funeral, but to promote them. Brutus was very interested and motivated by other s opinions. Because

Her lack of short term memory and possession of long term memories turn her brother and fathers

they can t live a real life. Also the people in their lives have a big burden and a tough task to live with.
Henry finally finds a solution in the end to help with Lucy s situation. He makes a tape about their life
and how they are in love and everyday she wakes up and watches it and learns about her accident. By
doing this she is almost able to live a normal life just like everybody

Transparency As A Theoretical Matter Of Perception
Transparency (Literal vs. Phenomenal) Transparency is defined and understood by most people as
having the property of transmitting light without appreciable scattering so that bodies lying beyond are
seen clearly . The growth in production and development of technology resulted in a new
understanding for transparency in architecture and art. The architects Colin Rowe and Robert Slutzky
believe that transparency is classified into two different types, literal and phenomenal, where one is
the result of optical effects, while the other type is based on spatial effects that are translated in the
subconscious mind. Classifying transparency into two different types allows a shift from
understanding transparency as science, to comprehending transparency as a theoretical matter of
perception. The categorization of transparency into two types helps people understand transparency as
something beyond science and relate it to a speculative matter of observation. While both literal and
phenomenal are understood as types of transparencies they preform completely differently. Literal
transparency leaves nothing for the imagination of the viewer to see. The materials and pigments used
in architecture or art to achieve this type of transparency are superimposed, and the forms are placed
behind the transparent surface are clear to the viewer. Therefore, literal transparency is based strictly
on the viewer sight, where the viewer is only using his eyes and emotions to read the project.

Separation Of Juveniles
In Chapter two, it discusses the separation of juveniles from the criminal justice system. It really stood
out to me that there were different groups and programs to help separate the youth. Those groups were
the Chicago Boy s Court and Youth Counsel Bureau. The Chicago Boy s Court used community
service groups such as a Catholic Church agency, a predominantly Protestant agency, a Jewish Social
Service, and the Colored Big Brothers. This really helped the youth because they were released into
their supervision. It also helped because the groups would evaluate the individual s behavior over time
and report back to the court. If the youth made satisfactory progress then the individual would be
released without a record. The Youth Counsel Bureau

U.S. and The Middle East Essay
The role of the Middle East has been very crucial to the United States, especially after WWII. The
U.S. had three strategic goals in the Middle East and consistently followed them throughout various
events that unfolded in the region. First, with the emergence of the cold war between the Soviet Union
and the U.S., policymakers began to recognize the importance of the Middle East as a strategic area in
containing Soviet influence. This also coincides with the U.S. becoming increasingly wary of Arab
nationalism and the threat it posed to U.S. influence. Secondly, the emergence of the new Israeli state
in 1948 further deepened U.S. policy and involvement in the region while also creating friction
between the U.S. and Arab states which were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The U.S. was cautious in approaching the problem with Syria, though. They did not want to appear as
having imperial motives and thus sought incite a regional response, especially the support of Saudi
Arabia. The relationship with Saudi Arabia was strategic in itself because of its fundamental role in
the Arab world, especially in dealing with Egypt, as well as its increasing wealth in oil. The U.S.,
though, did not get the response they were looking for. Saudi Arabia placed the problem squarely on
the U.S. government s shoulders and therefore caused them to change their policies towards Syria.
One such change would be that of a military intervention in Syria. Eisenhower could not justify
military intervention with Syria without separating it from the similar crisis in the Suez. Thus, military
intervention in Syria was justified through asserting that Syria was secretly being infiltrated by the
Soviet Union. To solidify this policy the United States needed to find physical proof that this was
indeed happening in Syria. This further fueled the need for an all Arab response in Syria. When other
Arab nations refused to respond to the crisis the United States looked to Turkey to stage a military
intervention against Syria. This move was not a smart one in that it prompted a response from the
Soviet Union in which it warned Turkey not to take action against Syria.
In this particular crisis it seems as if U.S. policy of

Essay On English Reflection
Semester One English Reflection
August 17, 2017; also known as my first day of officially naming myself a high school student at
Lindbergh High School. I walked into my fourth hour, English 1 Honors, not knowing what I would
encounter within the next four months of my academic career. English (until now) remained my best
and most favorite subject ever since I could remember, however, this year I began to feel the challenge
I have always needed, especially with the new grading system. Standard based grading consists of
grading each individual category us students consistently remain expected to learn, and master this
year. Categories like speaking and listening, reading, writing, and habits of learning . Throughout
semester one, I showed an increase of my weaknesses within the categories of speaking and listening
and habits of learning while I showed an increase of my strengths in the categories reading and
writing.
To begin, the first semester of my high school experience as a whole seemed very stressful. By this I
mean, completing my work along with adapting to listening to the new teaching styles and getting
over my biggest fear speaking in front of the class. Although, anything takes time to get used to,
English illustrates a perfect example. As I stated before, the standard based grading system needed
some time to get used to, along with the expectations and requirements of honors versus regular. As
time went on, my grades show that I never really got used to this. During term one, my habits of
learning average ended with an average of 91%. At this time, I realized the level of difficulty English
would endure, so I put more effort into it... at the time. During term two, my habits of learning average
went down to a 76%. The biggest reason, while in English there consisted a large amount of
classwork, it meant an increased amount of classwork for other classes as well. After reviewing this, I
feel very disappointed with how my efforts towards academic responsibility weakened, making one of
my goals to put forth more effort during semester two. As I said before, high school alone pulled out a
magnificent amount of stress, not helped by one of my weakest categories ever since I started school
consisted of

Form Of Government In The 17th And 18th Century
For over 5,000 years of human civilization, there has always been a need for societal structure and
stability. People developed governments in order to guarantee that structure and stability are present
within the region. While there are various forms of government, some are more effective than others.
Yet the effectiveness of that form of government is mostly dictated by the time period it is being used
in. Even though democracy is widely regarded as the best form of government in the 21st century, the
same cannot be said for the 17th and 18th centuries. The most effective form of government for the
17th and 18th centuries in Europe is absolutism because of the power of religious unity, the
importance of fear, and the focus of the overall well being of the state.
Where democracy falls short is in the power of religious unity. Democracy promotes secular values
which would have been extremely unsuccessful at the time while the very foundation of absolutism is
based on a religious concept called the theory of The Divine Right of Kings. As explained by King
James I of England in 1609, the theory of The Divine Right of Kings states that for kings are not only
God s lieutenants upon Earth, and sit upon God s throne, but even by God himself they are called
gods. The theory explains that the King was sent from God and is accountable to nobody but God.
This connection between religion and policy allows for unanimous agreement for any course of action.
In the 17th and 18th

Theme Of Racism In The Room
A form of cultural violence is racism which can be seen in the play The Room. In the play The Room,
Pinter does not explicitly deal with racism, but he does insinuate the prejudice that the locals practised
against the immigrants and the hatred, suspicion and distrust that they attached to all foreigners. An
example of racism is Bert s instant reaction on seeing the blind negro, Riley. On seeing the black
stranger, Bert is so furious that he indulges in direct physical violence and beats him cruelly till he
dies. Another instance of racism can be seen in the play The Caretaker. Davis in the play is suspicious
of the immigrants or foreigners in Britain and he feels that they give themselves the airs that they are
better than him. Throughout the play he refers to them in vilifying ways which reveals his racist
attitude towards them.
All them Greeks had it, Poles, Greeks, Blacks, the lot of them, all them aliens had it...And they had me
working there... Davies, 6
Through Davies fear and suspicion, Pinter tries to express the fear of the lower class whites of Britain
in the Fifties, regarding their position, rights and employment opportunities being usurped by the
foreigners. A form of cultural violence is dominant patriarchal ideology which has its foundation in
family. Family not only acts as a site for the transmission of patriarchal ideology but also reproduces
this ideology. Kate Millet in her book Sexual Politics claims: patriarchy s chief institution is the

  • 2. Examples Of Mise En Scene In V For Vendetta V for Vendetta (2006) is a dystopian political thriller film which is directed by James McTeigue. Films are not merely art form or product for consumption. They are also a form of social practice that conveys and constructs meanings. In this short essay, I would try to discuss how the mise en scene and editing in the film V for Vendetta conveys and constructs meanings in the falling dominoes scene. Mise en scene (Props and Colour) In films, mise en scene means the director s control over what appears in the frame that means how the visual materials are staged, framed and photographed. In the falling dominoes scene, I would try to focus on the props and colour. In this scene, the most significant props used are V s mask and the falling dominoes. The simplest purpose for V s mask is to not disclose V a real identity, but simply to create him an icon . The mask becomes a motif in the film. It is a significant repetition that appear throughout the whole film and develop a dominate idea that is everyone will die but the idea can alive forever. In this scene, V sent out a large number of the masks and costumes to the public by BFC. He encourages people wear masks and goes out to the streets against forced conformity. It shows that everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It symbolizes the chain reaction that it states to a related order of actions where the time between consecutive actions is comparatively slight. Even the beginning is just a little fuse, it will become a out of control power after much fire and heat are collected. In this scene, it also brings out the idea of the simmering resentment of the people and the Coming Collapse of the government. Audiences attention always can be drawn to the dominoes by use of close up. In end of the scene, the simmering resentment of the people has already met the peak. It shows that all of the condition of the rebellion has completed and V controls all keys of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Blessing Vs Bottled Water Frequently people have always questioned if bottled water or tap water is better for themselves and their community. Bottled water has no end of conveniences and is needed, or even wanted, by numerous people in the United States and all over the world. Bottled water is not just a want for some, it is a necessity. It has been used in many times of disasters, such as hurricanes, when tap or the communities water is not available to them. Bottled water is convenient as well as a great resource to have in a time of disaster. A reason that bottled water has been valued over tap water would be that it is more portable. It is more convenient to just pick up a bottle of water than having to fill something up and take it with on the journey. If someone is in a time crunch, one must need to ask himself/ herself as to what would be more convenient and time saving for said person and their busy lifestyle. Fager states in his essay called The Top Ten Reasons (Plus Three) Why Bottled Water Is a Blessing, Bottled water is fully portable, and thus versatile (3). In this excerpt, Fager proves the point of the idea that bottled water is superior due to its amount of convenience. Therefore, this shows that if someone is in a hurry, or need some extra time in their day, pick up bottled water and do not waste the time in the day on tap when there is a more convenient solution. Bottled water is crucial and necessary during multiple disasters. During disasters, numberless breakages can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The iconic image on social media: how a single image transformed the debate on refugee and immigration An image of a three year old young boy Alan Kurdi washed up on the Turkish shoreline has become photographic sensation that rapidly spreading around the world and prompting international responses on the issues of immigration and Syrian refugee crisis. This tragedy happened while the family of Alan was trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea from Turkey to a Greek Island Kos on an inflatable boat that capsized. A Turkish journalist Nilufer Demir took photographs of Alan s body and after published, this suddenly and instantly changed the way people were talking about refugee and migration on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. Researchers from University of Sheffield Visual Social Media Lab have analyzed almost 3 million posts following the publication of recovery of the young refugee s body from a Turkish beach on the 2nd of September 2015 (Sheffield, 2015). • 5. Annotated Water In this modern world, people need more efficient ways to grow food due to increased population. In an effort to increase food production, scientists are testing novel methods of increasing plant growth. A technology of interest is ozonated water. Ozonated water is infusing more oxygen into water. Infusing oxygen into water is accomplished by using a machine called an ozonator which adds more oxygen into water. The theory behind ozonated water is that ozonated water provides oxygen to the root of the plant. Ozone improves the respiratory process [of the plant] at the cellular level, (Oz air.). Further ozone makes a plant, free of virus, bacteria, fungi ... and other microorganisms, (Oz air.) Essentially, ozone promotes fast and steady ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data was organized into two different groups ozonated and control plants with the plants on both greenhouses being numbered 1 12 as shown in fig 3.On the bottom of chart I did calculations for averages, standard deviation and T test. As shown in Fig. 3 there are 4 zeros on the Ozonated and one zero on control. This was a result of them being duds and not being able to work with them. Looking at how the data in the fig. 5 you see that the control always seems to be one step ahead then the ozonated radishes. Now if we remove the zeros it s a slightly different story. Looking at figure 4 we see that the average for day 5 that the ozonated radishes has a higher plant average. This is only because with the 4 zeros being removed the 1.1, 1.58, 1.9 all weigh down the average for the whole chart. Also, I noticed that in figure 6 that the gap between the two has shrunken drastically. This is because the four zeros wore down the ozonated bar down compared to only one zero in the control group. Also looking at the t test it shows that most if not all the data was by chance so this experiment may not be valid at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Revolutionary Theory Of Class Struggle Benjamin Guerrero Prof. Fatovic / POT 3054 December 7, 2015 Progress through the Struggle Karl Marx, chief characteristic was singleness of purpose, his idea of happiness was to fight and his idea of misery was submission, his inspiration was the rebel slave leader Spartacus, who was a violent gladiator fighting for his freedom. His favorite motto was that you must have doubts about everything and lastly his favorite color was red. Many philosophers interpret the world, but the important thing is to change it and Marx wanted to explain the conditions under which many citizens lived. Since The Soviet Revolution from 1917, almost more than 30 countries have claimed to be inspired by Marx s philosophy. The revolutionary theory of Class Struggle (PG 220, The Marx Engels reader) have inspired a chain of revolutions throughout the world, but the Marxists states that have resulted, are not what he advocated for. These new governments were violent, repressive, oppressive and autocratic. One can find the promise of revolution hidden on his most famous and lengthiest work, his book called Capital; A text that gave catalyst for the chain of ideas that have inspired a world movement. The aim was not for the moral protest but to write a complex, far reaching, interconnected series of books, articles and manifestos. Their aim was not at the moral protest at the evils of capitalism, but as an explanatory analysis of how capitalism actually works, how it came about and how it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Carpe Diem Both, To the Virgins, To Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick and A Psalm of Life , by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, conveys, through a persona, a matured perspective of Carpe Diem. Both poets communicate their individual opinion, Longfellow s 19th century poem discusses the importance of creating a legacy and leaving an impact on time, whereas Herrick s 17th century cavalier style poem implies the significance of retaining the prime years of your life, and portrays the brevity of the life cycle. These main aspects of Carpe Diem are expressed through various visual and auditory features to manifest an idea to readers about how to seize the day. In To the virgins, To Make Much of Time , Herrick uses a variety of visual techniques ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Herrick discusses the inevitability of death but the tone maintains the positive and cheerful nature. The tone promotes optimism to us readers and reflects how Herrick views life. Herrick uses alliteration throughout the poem, such as in stanza 1 with same and smiles , or stanza 2 with higher and he s . These examples of alliteration create focus on the importance of the ideas the poet presents on Carpe Diem. The auditory features cooperate to communicate Herrick s main ideas on the notion of how to seize the day. In A Psalm of Life , Longfellow develops ideas on Carpe Diem through visual representations. The poet, using a powerful extended metaphor in stanza 5, expresses life as a battle using striking visual imagery with the phrase, In the world s broad field of battle . A military battle negatively connotes hardship and unpredictability , reflecting the nature of suffering in life. The metaphor continues throughout the stanza conveying to readers not to be dumb, driven cattle whereas to be a hero in the strife! . This compelling idea supports the theme of creating a legacy and promotes being courageous. Longfellow reinforces his agnostic ideas, which are disagreed with by Herrick, about religion several times in the poem, suggesting religion holds people back from seizing the day. The marriages are all arranged. They are married to the angels. People in the whole districts had come to attend this ceremony including the Econowives, the Marthas, the Hanmaids and the Wives. Their seats are arranged according to their rankings. The area for the Handmaids is separated by ropes: our area is cordoned off with a silky twisted scarlet rope, this rope segregate us, marks us off, keeps the others from contamination by us, makes us a corral or pen; so into it we go, arranging ourselves in rows, which we know very well how to do, kneeling then on the floor. (248) By shredder, in my opinion, it implies that something went wrong about the baby and the baby did not make it or it is deformed and not sufficient enough for the society. It was hard to say whether Offred feels remorse or triumph for Janine. Offred started to think about Janine s shoes: that s terrible, I say. It s like Janine though to take it upon herself, to decide the baby s flaws were due to her alone. But people will do anything rather than admit that their lives have no meaning. (249) Both Janine and Offred are handmaids, after all, and giving birth to an healthy child is the same wish of them. Offred seems to find in Janine an object of both pity and revulsion. While she is in the same position as the other women at the Center, she seems to crave attention and behave differently from the others: she had another child, once, I know that from the Center, when she used to cry about it at night, like the rest of us only more noisily (144). Janine seems to cry more noisily than the other mothers who have lost children as if to outdo them, as if her grief is more real or important. For the Germans it served as their punishment from World War II, this punishment divided up their country and separated many people from their families who might have lived in different parts of Germany. United States President Richard Nixon and Soviet President Leonid Brezhnev agreed to freeze a number of strategic ballistic missile launches as well as reduce spending on nuclear weapons. The two countries also agreed to limit their number of nuclear weapons. A second Strategic Arms Limitation Talk was held in 1979 this time between United States President Jimmy Carter and Leonid Brezhnev. This time more controls were put in place on strategic nuclear weapons and new missile programs were banned, however this deal was not ratified by the U.S congress. The reason why this treaty was never ratified was because President Carter was angry that the USSR had decided to invade Afghanistan. This goes to show that there was a period of relaxation between the United States and the USSR; however tensions did start to rise again when Afghanistan was invaded. Essay about Comprehensive study of Road Roughness in India COMPREHENSIVE STUDY ON ROAD ROUGHNESS Road roughness is the deviation of the pavement surface from a true planar surface with characteristic dimension that affect vehicle dynamics, ride quality, dynamic load and drainage , for example longitudinal profile, transverse profile, and cross slope(ASTM E867). By causing vehicle vibrations, roughness has a direct influence on vehicle wear, ride comfort, and safety. The relationship between vehicle operating cost and road roughness are well established through several studies conducted in India and abroad. Roughness measurements are an important factor in making decisions towards spending limited budgets for maintenance and improvements. Due to this, specifications for roughness have been adopted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The roughness of the pavement causes change in the normal forces that act at the tyre pavement interface and affects the lateral forces needed to control a vehicle, thereby influencing the steering capabilities of the vehicle. Roughness can also cause significant loss of breaking force or slip resistance on a vehicle. In addition to this, problems can arise due to variation of roughness in each of the wheel tracks of a lane. These differences of roughness in each wheel path cause differences in the breaking and sliding forces that act on the vehicle. This will cause the exposure of vehicle to different levels of friction on each side, which can cause a significant safety problem. Effect on Vehicle Operating Cost The Vehicle Operating Cost (VOC) components consist of fuel consumption, oil consumption, tyre wear, maintenance and repair, and depreciation. Road surface roughness is one of the factors determining VOC. While increasing roughness increases fuel consumption at any given speed, increasing roughness also reduces travel speed, which reduces fuel consumption per unit distance for most free running travel speeds. It is a collection of six dramatic monologues by various different actors, each one telling their own story. Bennett wrote a series of monologues in 1988 for BBC 2 at a time when they were having financial difficulties. Monologues were chosen as they only required a few actors and cameramen. They were successful and Bennett decided to write a second series of monologues, the one which I am going to study is called Miss Fozzard finds her feet and I will be discussing how Alan Bennett creates her character and how her story is told. The title Miss Fozzard finds her feet lets the audience guess at what might happen in the monologue. The use of the pun finds her feet tells us two things about the story she is going to tell. Firstly, that Miss Fozzard has to find a new chiropodist to look after her feet when her old chiropodist Mr Suddaby moves away. Secondly, before this monologue was written, Miss Fozzard seems to have a fairly uneventful life, now however, she seems to have plenty of stories to tell the audience. By the end of the monologue she seems to have an eventful and fulfilling life. So in other words she has Found her feet in life and chiropody. Also in the title there is humour. The name Miss Fozzard suggests humour and a character whose traits suggest they are rather ditzy and slow to catch on which is true in Miss Fozzard s case. For example when Bernard calls Miss Fozzard a cow she doesn t realise he is insulting her. This type of humour is very tongue in cheek as it is used in her name. Her name is a source of humour and she judges people by their names. She repeats her name a lot in the monologue especially when someone she respects says it in conversation. In the opening section, Miss Fozzard s character is built up immediately with the use of the phrase Bit of a bombshell today which introduces the war imagery which I will later explain. Miss ... What is a family? In my opinion, a family is that the people have the close relationship and share the responsibility for each other. • 15. Theories Of The Great Man Theory Great man theory This theory evolved around the 19th century, and was originally proposed by Thomas Carlyle. The great man theory is basically assuming that, only an individual that was born with greatness is indeed great. The focus on great leaders were limited to only men, as women were not seen as leaders in any way. Leaders are born and not made (leadership theories). From this statement, Thomas Carlyle is making it clear that a person cannot be made a great leader by any extrinsic means, but it must be intrinsic traits of leadership that this person was born with, that can enable him to become a great leader. Great leaders will arise when there is a great need (leadership theories). He seemed snarky at first, but as one searches deeper, it would seem that he did not want to be persuaded by Cassius. Soon after, Brutus starts preparing for Caesar s death. Following Caesar s death, he asks Antony to not censure him and Cassius at Caesar s funeral, but to promote them. • 29. Transparency As A Theoretical Matter Of Perception Transparency (Literal vs. Phenomenal) Transparency is defined and understood by most people as having the property of transmitting light without appreciable scattering so that bodies lying beyond are seen clearly . The growth in production and development of technology resulted in a new understanding for transparency in architecture and art. The architects Colin Rowe and Robert Slutzky believe that transparency is classified into two different types, literal and phenomenal, where one is the result of optical effects, while the other type is based on spatial effects that are translated in the subconscious mind. Classifying transparency into two different types allows a shift from understanding transparency as science, to comprehending transparency as a theoretical matter of perception. The categorization of transparency into two types helps people understand transparency as something beyond science and relate it to a speculative matter of observation. While both literal and phenomenal are understood as types of transparencies they preform completely differently. Literal transparency leaves nothing for the imagination of the viewer to see. The materials and pigments used in architecture or art to achieve this type of transparency are superimposed, and the forms are placed behind the transparent surface are clear to the viewer. Therefore, literal transparency is based strictly on the viewer sight, where the viewer is only using his eyes and emotions to read the project. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Separation Of Juveniles In Chapter two, it discusses the separation of juveniles from the criminal justice system. It really stood out to me that there were different groups and programs to help separate the youth. Those groups were the Chicago Boy s Court and Youth Counsel Bureau. The Chicago Boy s Court used community service groups such as a Catholic Church agency, a predominantly Protestant agency, a Jewish Social Service, and the Colored Big Brothers. This really helped the youth because they were released into their supervision. It also helped because the groups would evaluate the individual s behavior over time and report back to the court. If the youth made satisfactory progress then the individual would be released without a record. The Youth Counsel Bureau ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. U.S. and The Middle East Essay The role of the Middle East has been very crucial to the United States, especially after WWII. The U.S. had three strategic goals in the Middle East and consistently followed them throughout various events that unfolded in the region. First, with the emergence of the cold war between the Soviet Union and the U.S., policymakers began to recognize the importance of the Middle East as a strategic area in containing Soviet influence. This also coincides with the U.S. becoming increasingly wary of Arab nationalism and the threat it posed to U.S. influence. Secondly, the emergence of the new Israeli state in 1948 further deepened U.S. policy and involvement in the region while also creating friction between the U.S. and Arab states which were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The U.S. was cautious in approaching the problem with Syria, though. They did not want to appear as having imperial motives and thus sought incite a regional response, especially the support of Saudi Arabia. The relationship with Saudi Arabia was strategic in itself because of its fundamental role in the Arab world, especially in dealing with Egypt, as well as its increasing wealth in oil. The U.S., though, did not get the response they were looking for. Saudi Arabia placed the problem squarely on the U.S. government s shoulders and therefore caused them to change their policies towards Syria. One such change would be that of a military intervention in Syria. Eisenhower could not justify military intervention with Syria without separating it from the similar crisis in the Suez. Thus, military intervention in Syria was justified through asserting that Syria was secretly being infiltrated by the Soviet Union. To solidify this policy the United States needed to find physical proof that this was indeed happening in Syria. This further fueled the need for an all Arab response in Syria. When other Arab nations refused to respond to the crisis the United States looked to Turkey to stage a military intervention against Syria. This move was not a smart one in that it prompted a response from the Soviet Union in which it warned Turkey not to take action against Syria. In this particular crisis it seems as if U.S. policy of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Essay On English Reflection Semester One English Reflection August 17, 2017; also known as my first day of officially naming myself a high school student at Lindbergh High School. I walked into my fourth hour, English 1 Honors, not knowing what I would encounter within the next four months of my academic career. English (until now) remained my best and most favorite subject ever since I could remember, however, this year I began to feel the challenge I have always needed, especially with the new grading system. Standard based grading consists of grading each individual category us students consistently remain expected to learn, and master this year. Categories like speaking and listening, reading, writing, and habits of learning . Throughout semester one, I showed an increase of my weaknesses within the categories of speaking and listening and habits of learning while I showed an increase of my strengths in the categories reading and writing. To begin, the first semester of my high school experience as a whole seemed very stressful. By this I mean, completing my work along with adapting to listening to the new teaching styles and getting over my biggest fear speaking in front of the class. Although, anything takes time to get used to, English illustrates a perfect example. As I stated before, the standard based grading system needed some time to get used to, along with the expectations and requirements of honors versus regular. As time went on, my grades show that I never really got used to this. During term one, my habits of learning average ended with an average of 91%. At this time, I realized the level of difficulty English would endure, so I put more effort into it... at the time. During term two, my habits of learning average went down to a 76%. The biggest reason, while in English there consisted a large amount of classwork, it meant an increased amount of classwork for other classes as well. After reviewing this, I feel very disappointed with how my efforts towards academic responsibility weakened, making one of my goals to put forth more effort during semester two. As I said before, high school alone pulled out a magnificent amount of stress, not helped by one of my weakest categories ever since I started school consisted of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Form Of Government In The 17th And 18th Century For over 5,000 years of human civilization, there has always been a need for societal structure and stability. People developed governments in order to guarantee that structure and stability are present within the region. While there are various forms of government, some are more effective than others. Yet the effectiveness of that form of government is mostly dictated by the time period it is being used in. Even though democracy is widely regarded as the best form of government in the 21st century, the same cannot be said for the 17th and 18th centuries. The most effective form of government for the 17th and 18th centuries in Europe is absolutism because of the power of religious unity, the importance of fear, and the focus of the overall well being of the state. Where democracy falls short is in the power of religious unity. Democracy promotes secular values which would have been extremely unsuccessful at the time while the very foundation of absolutism is based on a religious concept called the theory of The Divine Right of Kings. As explained by King James I of England in 1609, the theory of The Divine Right of Kings states that for kings are not only God s lieutenants upon Earth, and sit upon God s throne, but even by God himself they are called gods. The theory explains that the King was sent from God and is accountable to nobody but God. This connection between religion and policy allows for unanimous agreement for any course of action. • 35. Theme Of Racism In The Room A form of cultural violence is racism which can be seen in the play The Room. In the play The Room, Pinter does not explicitly deal with racism, but he does insinuate the prejudice that the locals practised against the immigrants and the hatred, suspicion and distrust that they attached to all foreigners. An example of racism is Bert s instant reaction on seeing the blind negro, Riley. On seeing the black stranger, Bert is so furious that he indulges in direct physical violence and beats him cruelly till he dies. Another instance of racism can be seen in the play The Caretaker. Davis in the play is suspicious of the immigrants or foreigners in Britain and he feels that they give themselves the airs that they are better than him. Throughout the play he refers to them in vilifying ways which reveals his racist attitude towards them. All them Greeks had it, Poles, Greeks, Blacks, the lot of them, all them aliens had it...And they had me working there... Davies, 6 Through Davies fear and suspicion, Pinter tries to express the fear of the lower class whites of Britain in the Fifties, regarding their position, rights and employment opportunities being usurped by the foreigners.
