Use Matlab to Understand Bonds Valuation
Use Matlab to get an intuitive understanding of bonds valuation.
1. Basic knowledge:
1.1 The price equation and its six contributing factors
As we know, there are six factors that determine the expected price of bonds: the par value(F), the
maturity(n) the yield to maturity(y), the coupon interest(CF), the interest payment frequency(m), and
the interest rates for each period(ri).
We assume that the coupon interest is fixed, then the price of bonds(P)is the discounted cash flows of
each period:
P=i=1nm(CF(1+ym)i)+F(1+ym)mn=i=1nm(CF(1+rim)i)+F(1+rnm)mn
Indeed, to intuitively understand this equation is not easy. Firstly, we can see that the yield to
maturity(y) is a kind of average of the interest rates(ri) for each ... Show more content on

Why Women s Women Have Been Repressed For A Long Period...
Why not Women?
Women have been repressed for a long period of history. Only recently have women started to gain
respect as equals and individuals. While women s rights have advanced in many ways in the past 50
years alone, it is obvious that there is a significant disconnect in the advancement of women in the
church. The promotion of gender equality is a slow and painful process, and has barely begun to
progress worldwide. Attitudes towards women as leaders in the church, and in religion in general, are
rooted in Biblical interpretations of women s involvement, not only in leadership in the church, but
also in marriage, society, and government. The role of gender in religion is one that is often ignored;
yet the issue should be addressed in that most religions, particularly Christianity and Catholicism,
place women in submissive roles. This encourages the gender gap in society as a whole.
Traditionally, Christianity has given men the position of authority in marriage, society, and
government. The Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches, and many conservative Protestant
denominations emphasize today that only men can be ordained as priests, clergy, and as deacons. Even
though women are not seen as traditional leaders in the church, the majority of Christians have
immense respect for women. After all, God chose a woman, Mary, to have the honor of giving birth to
Jesus, the Son of God. Historically, women have played very significant roles in religion. Nuns,
specifically,

Hypnotherapy And Social Anxiety
Having a fear of people and their personal judgments against oneself is the worry of social scenarios
in which the communication with other individuals could immediately bring on feelings of intense self
scrutiny where person feel that others are watching their every move. It is also where a person may
feel like they are constantly being evaluated as well as examined adversely others which can bring
about feelings of inadequacy, shame, and embarrassment. One should note that if a person only feels
like they are sitting on pins and needles in social circumstances, and not when no one else is around,
social anxiety should be taken into consideration.

Manual based therapies proposed to individuals or groups have an equal efficiency in the decrease of
anxiety signs in youngsters. How can this be further explained? Perhaps that is because it reinforces
the theory that team vehicles may provide more positive peer modeling chances, reinforcement, as
well as social support.
They are additionally a practical option when it concerns the limited availability of child focused
alternative therapy treatment specialists. Child and adolescent team programs are focused on dealing
with one certain, currently existing stress and anxiety problem. However, the majority of these

The Public Education System In The United States
From the beginning of its existence, the United States has pushed for a democratic society due to its
strict ruling under the English monarchy. A democratic society is simply viewed as a society that is
based on the ideas of democracy: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In order to produce people
who perpetuate this type of government, a proper education is vital. American philosopher John
Dewey had a vision that democracy should work hand in hand with the education system. Dewey
strongly believed that participating in a democratic society was extremely important, and he thought
that the education system was the way to achieve that. In the current schooling system, every child is
presented with the same luxury: the equal chance to receive a proper education. However, schooling
systems stop here. Today s education system is preparing students to participate and perpetuate in a
democratic society to a certain extent. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a typical American high school, many co curricular activities are offered. These can be described
as: athletic teams, academic teams such as Science Olympiad or Mathletes, and student council. All
these activities require a specified leader, team involvement, and active participation in order to
succeed mirroring a common democracy. However, schooling systems stop here. Ironically, many
people believe that education should be based on the three r s, or reading, writing, and arithmetic. This
type of education causes the understanding of democratic ideals banish because the students are not
educated on what a democracy really means nor how to perpetuate it. Many citizens do not realize that
their rights based on democracy are broken on a daily basis, granting them great

How Does Lee Use Prejudice In To Kill A Mockingbird
Today, many people are faced with different forms of discrimination and prejudice. To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee tells the story of Scout Finch as her family, friends, and herself as they
endure and encounter different types of prejudice such as getting ridiculed for being a tomboy, racism,
and reverse racism. Scout is considered a tomboy because she does not wear dresses because she can
do nothing in a dress (Lee 92) so instead she wears overalls or pants. She also goes to Finch s Landing
and starts to cuss around her Uncle Jack; when he asks her does she want to Grow up and be a lady,
(Lee 90) she tells him Not particularly. (Lee 90) When she does wear a dress for Aunt Alexandra and

Analysis Of Paul Green Theatre At Detroit 67 And Took My...
When I walked into Paul Green Theatre to watch Detroit 67 and took my seat on stage right, my first
thought was this story is going to be entirely depressing. The scene was a dingy living space of a
family in the 1960 s with a cold concrete floor that served as a modest barrier between the stage and
audience along with a dimly lit single room containing a couch and a record player in the front of the
stage. I could almost feel the chilly aura being emitted from the concrete floor and poorly painted,
solid grey steps leading up to the stage exit. In the back of the setting was a combined kitchen, wash,
and bar area. All these signs of destitution were nothing special except for one piece of the scenery
that did not fit the rest. The Christmas lights that served as decor for the backstage bar area stood out
to me and I figured the time took place around Christmastime. Even still, the lights could not eradicate
the dreary feeling looming overhead in the dark theatre. Then, I heard the music and everything
changed.
Suddenly, Marvin Gaye s voice broke through my deep, somber thoughts and gave me a glimmer of
hope. There was no doubt that I was hearing Ain t No Mountain High Enough, and I knew at that
point that the play would have have a resilient message. The setlists of this play would include many
more 60 s top artist, such as The Temptations, Four Tops, and Earth,Wind, Fire. This was a great way
to tell the story before the main presentation of the story took place. I

My Parents At My Childhood Home
When living with both my parents at my childhood home, I attended Abraham Lincoln Washington
Elementary until the fourth grade. I stared going to pre school when I was 3 years old and then
transitioned into Kindergarten, where I attended Abraham Lincoln. The school included grade levels
from Kindergarten to eight grade. I loved going to school and would have my mother prepare my
lunch box early in the morning before walking me to school. We only lived three blocks from school,
which was very convenient for my mother and baby sister. My mother always walked me to class, but
my father would literally walk me to the corner of the street, which was two houses away from where
we lived and would watch me take the three block walk to school alone. My mother would mostly
take me to class, but on days she wasn t feeling well, she would have my father take me. However, I m
not sure why he would let me walk alone because if my mother knew, she would have a panic attack. I
was eager to go to school and play with my friends at recess. Although, I liked to learn new things, I
mostly liked going to school to socialize with people my own age. I ve always had a fascination for art
and numbers, which is probably why I m artistically gifted and creative. My favorite subjects were
P.E., art and math. I received a lot of certificates for student of the month during my elementary years
and was on the honor role and principles list numerous times. Before I was able to go into fourth

Wars End, By Harry Truman Essay
Wars End Imagine a road. The horrid smell and images of bloodshed flash through your head as you
try to focus on walking down this path. You soon come to the disgusting realization that you are
walking upon dead soldiers. Trenching forward you approach a fork in the road. Surrounded by death
you try to keep your head clear, and focus on making a clear decision. Seemingly both roads end in
traumatic loss of human life. You soon realize you are on the path of war, the most destructive path in
human history. The metaphorical road we walk upon is analogous to the pacific war, a war that
became Americas focal point after the fall of the third Reich in Berlin. With this war came Harry
Truman s dilemma, to bomb, or not to bomb. The decision would be questioned for decades to come.
The pacific war ended with the first and last atomic bomb to ever be discharged. Although whether
Truman s decision was the right one is arguable, you may find that through investigation of this war,
many compelling reasons to use the atomic bomb jump out at you. To draw the conclusion that the
Japan bombing was the correct decision, one must examine these five topics: Japan s culture and
values during world war two, Japan s tactical military strategies, the culture of world war two,
alternatives to bombing and the arguments that are against using the atomic bomb. When discussing
the topic of the pacific war, one would be foolish not to mention the culture of Japan and the influence
it had on the wars

Analysis Of The Movie Insomnia
In the movie Insomnia, the main character, Will Dormer daydreams, has hallucinations, and
flashbacks often throughout the movie. This attributed to his everyday life by causing him to space out
and veer off track. These symptoms appear to be most similar to those of the insomnia disorder.
Insomnia is not only the inability to get sleep, stay asleep, or get a good quality of sleep, but is also an
altered state of consciousness. Many factors that can contribute to insomnia include medical or
psychiatric illness, sleep disorders, medications, the environment and even poor sleep habits.
Sometimes depression and anxiety can also contribute to this disorder as well. Some symptoms of this
may include daydreaming, fatigue, drowsiness, confusion, tension headaches, anxiety, hallucinations,
flashbacks, sleep deprivation, light sensitivity, and distressing memories and dreams. Even though,
there are many ways to combat this disorder, not everyone will, as seen by Will Dormer s actions
throughout this movie. Insomnia is a sleep disorder that can be caused by various factors. Like in the
beginning of the movie, Insomnia, Will Dormer struggles to fall asleep at the time of investigating a
murder in a town where the sun does not set. A lack of melatonin could have lead to the first few signs
of sleep deprivation. Melatonin is a hormone produced by a gland in the brain, and helps regulate
other hormones and maintains the body s circadian rhythm. Melatonin is produced on a larger

The Advantages Of Surrogate Endpoints
In clinical research, a clinical endpoint is a sign or symptom that constitutes a target outcome of a
study. Unfortunately, there may be no convenient clinical endpoint for some studies. For example, the
clinical endpoint of hypertension is death over the next 50 years, so blood pressure is used as a
surrogate endpoint. Similarly, the concentration of viral particles is used in HIV/AIDS studies. Bone
density is used in osteoporosis studies. A true endpoint must be a medical condition that a patient
would want treated and a physician or dentist would agree deserves treatment.
Surrogate endpoints are physiological or biochemical markers that are easier to measure than true
endpoints. Surrogate endpoints often occur soon after the intervention in the disease process. Such
surrogate endpoints can, therefore, be viewed as intermediate endpoints. Also, surrogate endpoints
may not be of direct practical importance to the patient. A given disease process may have multiple
markers that could be used as the surrogate endpoint. Or, more than one could be used. ... Show more

`` Alone Together `` By Sherry Turkle
Throughout the history, our civilization has been evolving because it transportation systems, the
currency units, the industries and others developed. Furthermore, people were exposed to the various
changing by the development of technology. The development of the airplane industry allowed people
to go anywhere faster, and the development of the IT industry allowed people easily stay connected to
each other through the online world. Because of this, human beings have been influenced by the
changing of their surrounding environments, and it leads to new issues that human beings never faced
before. Sherry Turkle, the author of Alone Together , introduces the impact of the development of
technology on humans, particularly human relationships. She argues that although the development of
technology allowed people to have easier, faster, and more efficient lives, it also asked people to think
about the meaning of authenticity within their relationships. Zadie Smith, the author of Speaking in
Tongues , talks about having voices which represent the human beings identities. She asks reader to
think about the meaning of authenticity while she explains the multiple voices and single voice . Susan
Blackmore, the author of Strange Creatures , introduces the meme view by saying that the most of
interactions for human beings lives are imitated, not created which problematizes the conventional
concept of authentic . Through the development of technology, human beings

The War between the States
The Civil War also known as the War Between the States was a war fought from 1861 to 1865. The
war was fought in the United States after seven Southern slave sates declared their separation to form
the Confederate States of America. The Southern states were known as the Confederacy. But, the
states that remained which were the Northern States were called the Union. The War was the deadliest
war in American history; it killed approximately 620,000 soldiers. The soldiers died from combat,
accidents, starvation, and diseases. The Southern States declared secession because they did not want
to get rid of slavery. However, the Northern States and Abraham Lincoln had abolished slavery and
were completely against it. This made the Southern states upset; it became the major cause of The
Civil War.
On April 12, 1861, the deadliest was begun, shots were fired. The Confederate soldiers attacked the
Union s Fort Sumter in South Carolina. General Beauregard sent Major Anderson a message an hour
before the attack saying he would fire if Anderson and his soldiers didn t surrender. An hour passed
and Anderson did not surrender so the firing began. Major Anderson and 68 of his soldiers were inside
the fort when the attack began. A couple months prior Anderson moved his troops from Fort Moultrie
to Fort Sumter, because he thought Fort Sumter was more protected. Fort Sumter had been the only
fort in South Carolina that was not seized. On the day of the attack when the Confederate opened fire,

Analysis Of The Movie Princess And The Frog
The Disney Franchise produced their first African American princess back in 2009 depicting the
classic fairytale story of Princess and The Frog . During the animation, Tiana is an independent,
multifaceted woman who is goal oriented causing her to be faced with problems throughout. However,
because the film contained the first African American princess which shed light on many cultural
details surely there are going to be problems associated with various subjects throughout the movie. In
the past, Disney films would focus more about true love rather than a girl achieving her dreams of
having her very own restaurant. Having the main character achieve her goals in the film while Disney
still adds romance throughout her adventure making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, some critical questions for children of color in the context of the role fairy tales may play
in the identity formation of children would be: How am I represented in the images in the tales? What
do these fairy tales tell me about me and about others? If I am not in the picture at all, what does this
mean? (Hurley, 228). Over many years, Disney princesses have developed into something that little
girls admire. With this, Disney only producing one race is quite limiting to say the least. As a globally
dominant producer of cultural constructs related to gender, race, ethnicity, class and sexuality, Disney
reigns supreme, and part of that supreme reign is an unquestionable privileging of patriarchy and
whiteness (Lester 294). However, recent Disney films similar to Princess and the Frog have impacted
this generation by breaking past racial barriers and influencing the upcoming children. Creating
characters like Tiana give young children of all races a heroine princess from a Disney film that
inspires and act as a role model in many ways. By Disney broadening their princess standards:
opening up the franchise to produce lead characters of various races, have altered the viewers
perspective. This has lead to portray women of all ethnicities that children will look up and
accomplish their goals.
The Disney animation team had humongous job on their hands to create the first

Heathcliff Betrayal
In Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff s cruel childhood experiences with Hindley s
dehumanizing treatment and Catherine s betrayal affect him negatively, causing him to develop a
desire for vengeance as a sense of closure. This association with revenge as closure for his childhood
illuminates the theme that people do not always move forward from the cruel events in their life, and
though they strive to move on, the result does not always give them happiness. Heathcliff s relations
with Hindley and his cruel treatment reveal that people are not always willing to let things go without
giving themselves justice. When Heathcliff was brought to the Earnshaw home, it was evident that he
was not well received by any of the inhabitants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His actions, which aim to hurt her, further exhibit the recurring theme that although one searches for
their own justice, their way of achieving it leads to their ultimate unhappiness. A complete opposite to
the constant malicious undertone of Heathcliff s relations with Hindley, Heathcliff grows to fall in
love with Catherine and her haughty, headstrong nature (Brontë). Aside from their father, Catherine
was the first person in the Earnshaw household to bestow upon him love, respect, and basic human
kindness. It would be after her selfish betrayal that Heathcliff s relations with her undulates from a
nostalgic love to vengeful hatred. Catherine s betrayal of her constant headstrong nature originates
from her desire to keep her social status as opposed to marrying Heathcliff even though she loves him.
She chooses to marry Edgar Linton instead, a man of honorable status in the community, due to the
fact that he is handsome, and pleasant to be with as well as the fact that his future inheritance will
make her the greatest woman of the neighborhood (Brontë). Her selfish endeavor to gain a higher
status is what causes Heathcliff to feel betrayed as he only hears half of the conversation, not hearing
the love that Catherine proclaims for Heathcliff even though she chose to wed Edgar. This lack of
communication between the two is what fuels Heathcliff s desire to gain revenge for Catherine s
selfishness. Throughout his search for vengeance, Heathcliff still loves Catherine, which will be a
hindrance to him as his unwillingness to move on from Catherine and his desire for justice overpowers
his cause of happiness. Heathcliff leaves Wuthering Heights, and years later comes back a fully
changed man a man of Edgar Linton s

External Influences on the Accounting Profession
External Influences on the Accounting Profession The Accounting profession is distinguished by the
heavy demand placed upon its practitioner to adhere to laws, standards, regulations and best practices.
Any failure to do so may result in financial loss, economic oversights and even legal penalties. As a
result, it is incumbent upon the accounting professional to recognize and abide the external influences
that help to define the field. Distinct political, economic and cultural factors converge to define
practice within the accounting profession. Today, accountants are subject to the same global economic
changes that are impacting professional in every sector. With the deconstruction of global barriers, a
whole new host of economic realities must drive accounting decisions, requiring knowledge of the
economic practices not just in a domestic country of operation but also in a partner state or states. This
combines with pointed domestic pressures emerging from political systems such as that in the United
States. Quite to this point, a panel called the Investors Technical Advisory Committee (ITAC),
according to Reuters (2009), roundly criticized the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) for
its clear vulnerability to outside pressures derived by political agendas. According to the Reuters
article, the panel released a statement accusing the FASB of setting new accounting and financial
reporting standards with a laxity sought by a coalition of government officials,

Han-Chinese Violence
The violence that is occurring in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region amongst the Uyghurs and the
Han Chinese, stems from the conflict and debate between the Uyghurs and the People Republic of
China (PRC) in 1975. According to Gardner Bovington, there is a diverging perspective on the history
of Xinjiang; to the Chinese historical perspective, in 1795, once the Qing general conquered the vast

Uyghurs, such concurring of land did not occur, allowing the Uyghurs to believe that they are still a

However, such rumors were not verified nor confirmed. Due to the strong authoritarian regime China
centers itself upon, media outlets are potentially inaccurate sources of information. The CCP controls
the outflow of information released by the media, due to such control over media outlets, China is able
to manipulate any situation in order to gain support and sympathy. In reference to the Global Conflict

Uyghurs are associated with either the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) or the Turkestan

international support via identifying terrorist organizations within the PRC it allows China to address
that this problem is not just a problem for China but also other countries who s enemies are terrorist
organizations example, the United States and its fight against ISIS. Although this may seem as a
benefit for China and its aims to integrate Xinjiang, for the Uyghurs it labels them as a potential
terrorist organization; hence, limiting their ability to tell their side of the narrative and gain
international sympathy limiting their ability to gain international support and address how the CCP is

America s Education And Political Leaders Essay
By January, 2014, even former U.S. Secretary of Education Arnie Duncan had noticed the dysfunction
(Elliott, 2014) among Indiana s education and political leaders. A 2015 Senate Bill was even authored
that would have ended Indiana s practice of electing the state education chief so one could be
appointed by the governor (SB 24). A look at the headlines in the Indianapolis Star over the past
couple of years sums up nicely the relationship among Indian s educational and political leaders:

A Project Manager For The Success Of Acer Inc.
I Worked with Nokia Solutions Networks as a Project Manager for many years. Acer is one of the
largest telecommunication companies in the world. Over the years, the company has emerged from a
small local business to become successfully global. Its visionary founder took into account its difficult
path as the best way in which the company could prosper towards the acquisition of the global market.
As Barrow (2011) contends, one of the factors that has promoted the success of Acer Inc. is the proper
financial systems and budget employed in the management of its finances. For example, in 1976, it
was founded with a capital of US$25ooo, but has grown steadily to become a multibillionaire
company, together with its other close competitors (Barrow, 2011).
Running a company often requires carefully planning and review of finances. Various studies reveal
that most companies use other forms of accounting mainly for measuring, identifying, analyzing, and
reporting their financial information. In spite of making tremendous success, proper financial budget
planning is still important for the development and success of Acer Company. In this way, accounting
tools may include financial statements, forecasts, and other may be employed. Proper budget planning
is important to the business in the following ways. Firstly, through the budget, detailed information on
the analysis of how the company anticipates spending its finances, in future times can be revealed.

which should not be contained within food and beverages. Chemical substances or simply adulterants
may be internationally added to substances to reduce manufacturing costs, or for some deceptive or
malicious purpose. When profit in business is more important than morality, then it is possible to add
the poisoning contents to the foods and beverages. Food adulteration, a clear violation of human
rights, has crossed all limits now a days, as drive against this menace is neither effective nor regular in
the country. Dishonest and unscrupulous businessmen are behind this crime against humanity. Food
adulteration, synonymous with slow poisoning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If some one looks at the Gulshan lake, one may easily find that fish are dying, floating on top of the
lake because of high level of toxins. Fish meal therefore from polluted lakes and rivers poses a great
health risk for consumers. * Another concern is whether arsenic water is used for irrigation of
producing vegetables in the country. The vegetables may retain some trace of arsenic component in
fresh vegetables as well. This means that the best protection of consumers is to make informed choices
and lessen the chances of exposure to potential toxins by eating polluted fish and arsenic laced
vegetables.
TYPES OF FOOD THAT ARE OFTEN ADULTERARTED: * Basic food items on the market like
rice, fish, fruits, vegetables, and sweetmeats are adulterated with hazardous chemicals in an
indiscriminate manner. * More than 76 percent food items on the market were found adulterated in a
random survey by Public Health Laboratory of Dhaka City Corporation in 2009.
Adulterated Food acts as slow poison: * Slow Poisoning Consumers Consider Food Adulteration a
Minor Irritant and That Remains the Reason for Its Stealthy and Steady Transformation Into a Major,
Multi Faceted Health Hazard. * Spices are laced with excessive edible colors and heavy metals. While
lead can cause anemia, paralysis and the risk of abortion, colors can cause mental retardation in
infants and increase the risk of cancers.

Case Study Of Subway
Business Identification Summary: The above case study is about the success story of Subway. Subway
s type of ownership is franchise. Subway was founded in the year 1965 in state of Connecticut in the
United States of America by Fred DeLuca who 17 years old at the time and was looking to pay his
college fees by opening a sandwich shop. DeLuca s restaurant has since expanded and is, today, one of
the largest restaurant franchises in the world. DeLuca started by getting a loan of $1000 from a close
friend who encouraged him to open his own restaurant. In 1965, he started his first restaurant but the
result was underwhelming. Instead of closing his business down, he went on and opened a second
restaurant. Yet again, the result was underwhelming. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

oversee operations of the restaurants as the franchise expanded. The name of the holding company is
coming from the fact that DeLuca was aspiring to become a doctor but instead opened a restaurant that
eventually became Subway. In the year 1968, the sandwich shop was renamed

PENALTY Unsportsmanlike conduct. Administer as a dead ball foul. 15 yards from the succeeding
spot and automatic disqualification. Automatic first down for fouls by Team B if not in conflict with
other rules. This is the official rule in question as written in the 2016 and 2017 NCAA Football Rules
and Interpretations. If you have been paying attention to the bowl games the last few days, this rule
has come up in two key instances. The first was on December 29th in the Music City Bowl featuring
Kentucky and Northwestern while the second happened on December 30th in the Orange Bowl
between Miami and Wisconsin. Here is what happened, the response dictated by the rules, and how
the officials involved should have reacted. Music City Bowl What Happened: Arguably Kentucky s
best offensive player, running back Benny Snell, was handed the ball on a running play in the second
quarter of the game. Snell was tackled for a loss by numerous Northwestern players who, while not
breaking any rules themselves, were pretty rough slamming him to the ground. As Snell was getting
up, an official stood over him and reached out both hands towards Snell s upper chest. Snell reached
up and grasped the official by the wrists and pushed the official lightly away by shaking his head. A
flag was thrown, a 15 yard penalty was enforced, and Snell was ejected from the game. What the
Rules Say: According to the rules, the official made the right call. Snell did intentionally contact a
game official, and there is also a strong argument that, by pushing the officials hands away, Snell
contacted the official forcibly. What Should Have Happened: The official should have realized that
Snell was just downright mauled by Northwestern players at the end of a play that lost his team a

Beowulf s Motives Of A Biblical Warrior
Readers should admire Beowulf s actions, but not his motives. Through the stories of Samson, David
and Barak, the Bible shows what God expects of a Biblical warrior. Beowulf sacrificed his life for the
sake of others, just like Jesus, but he desired everlasting fame more than the safety of the city of
Heorot. When he said, For every one of us, living in this world means waiting for our end. Let
whoever can win glory over death, (lines 1387 1388) he wanted to fight to leave a legacy and glorify
his own name before he died. Just as Samson, David, and Barak defended God s oppressed people,
Beowulf defended the innocent people of Heorot, but his claim, It is always better to avenge dear
ones, than to indulge in mourning, (lines 1384 1385) reveals the differences between his motives and
the Biblical warriors motives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Judges chapter sixteen, God gave Samson the gift of incredible physical strength. However, when
Samson idolized Delilah over the Lord, God allowed the Philistines to cut Samson s hair, gouge out
his eyes, and leave him in jail for many years (Judges 16:21 22). After many years, Samson regained
his strength when his hair grew back, and he destroyed the Philistines with the help and blessing of
God (Judges 16:28:30). God called Samson to defeat His enemies so that everyone would know that
God expects His people to avoid evil and live within His will. Unlike Samson, Beowulf desired
vengeance for the death of his friends to glorify himself and leave his

Mid-Term Examination
In my social psychology class, there was a recent examination given to the class. It was the mid term
examination. For the mid term examination, the class was instructed to read chapter s 1 6 in the text
book. The class was also instructed to study for the exam by reviewing the lecture notes. In this paper
I will focus on a few questions I answered incorrectly on my mid term examination. The exam
contained 48 multiple choice questions and two true/false questions. Out of this 50 questions total, I
answered 18 incorrectly. One of the questions I will focus on is located on the second page. The
question reads, Nicole has just met some new people in her dorm. During a discussion on campus

I now see that covariation model is definitely not the answer. Another choice was the
representativeness heuristic. A mental shortcut through which people classify something as belonging
to a certain category to the extent that it is similar to a typical case from that category is the definition
of representativeness heuristic (Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini 78). The correct answer to question 30,
which is a definition, is correspondent inference theory. Franklin dislikes the Rush Limbaugh radio
talk show. At a party, Franklin meets Jefferson, who lavishly praises the Rush Limbaugh show.
Franklin takes an instant dislike to Jefferson. Which of the following psychological theories would
best predict Franklin s response to Jefferson (Huck) , was also one of the questions I missed on the
mid term. This is question 46 which is located on the seventh page. For this question I answered
reciprocity theory. I don t even know if there is a reciprocity theory but there is a norm of reciprocity.
The norm of reciprocity requires that we repay others with the form of behavior they have given us
(Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini, 196). Franklin did not repay Jefferson with the same behavior so this is
not the answer. The balance theory states that we all prefer to have

Deviance Is A Violation Of Social Norms
Imagine someone rich or powerful committing crimes without the fear of serving consequences. The
crime may include murder, robbery, or stealing. Deviance is a label for an action or behavior that
violates social norms. Social norms are rules or expectations which usually guide members of society.
Deviance is nonconformity to these norms. Social norms can vary from culture to culture and is
defined in numerous ways. Many researchers believe that deviance is a violation of social norms.
Some believe deviant behavior is breaking the law or acting in a negative manner. Sociologists use
specific words to classify deviant actions from a sociological perspective. There are crimes that are
deviant actions and not deviant acts. For example; this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many laws are enacted to punish criminals and protect individuals from violent deviant actions.
Privileged Deviance is economically costly because some powerful individuals attempt to escape the
consequences of deviant actions. Deviance occurs through interactions between individuals and
groups. The labeling theory discusses the social behavior of how and why individuals continue deviant
activity to maintain their identity or label. Thio, Taylor, and Schwartz state the word interaction
deviance is a human activity involving more than one person s act (Thio, et. al, 2013, p. 35). The
theory suggests individuals reflect on their behavior and how others view their actions. The labeling
theory can be linked to the symbolic interaction foundation perspective. Understanding deviance and
criminal behavior are addressed through the labeling theory. Thio, Taylor, and Schwartz suggest that
the deviant act begins with the hypothesis that no act is essentially criminal. Criminality is recognized
by individuals who feel powerful through the design of laws and the interpretation of law
enforcement. Deviance is determined by the interaction between deviant and nondeviant actions and
how the community interprets the actions. Individuals who adhere to the law and promote acceptable
behaviors are the main source of labeling. For example; this may include police officers, courts, or
school authorities. Defining specific

The title of the novel The Inheritance of Loss is very suitable as tells failures, disappoinments of the
real characters once lived in the post colonial India. The themes of loss, for in our world if mankind
has nothing else to take over, it can accept loss as its heritage, however, the matter is not as simple or
straight as it looks, the reason is that this novel is a highly intricate work which confronts several
themes extending from loss to poverty, gain, to wealth, justice to injustice.
The Inheritance of Loss is a political and historical novel, but the truth is that in spite of its political

Tap Dancing History
The history of tap originated in the United States from many styles of dance forms from different
ethnicities such as African Tribal, Scottish Dance, Irish and English clog dances and jigs. Ever since
then tap has been updated in many types of styles. Tap is a form of dance using tap shoes (shoes with
metal plates in the heel and ball of the foot) striking the floor as a form of percussion. It is believed
that African slaves and Irish servants had watched each other dancing on the plantations and combined
them together to invent tap dancing, before it was believed that tap dancing came from an urban
environment such as the Five Points District in New York City, where many ethnic groups lived
together. Tap started between the mid and late 1800 s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leonard Reed said there wasn t a show that didn t feature tap dancing. If you couldn t dance you
couldn t get a job! All kinds of shows featured tap dancing like nightclubs, vaudeville shows and
musicals. Since tap dancing was a common skill, tap dancers had to create something unique to be
noticed. The Berry Brothers act included rhythmic, synchronized cane twirling and dazzling acrobatics
to pop out. Soon newer styles were invented such as flash, novelty, eccentric, legomania and comedy,
swing tap also known as classical tap, class, military, rhythm, close floor and paddle and roll. Flash is
a style of dance that incorporated acrobatics and were often used to finish a dance. Novelty is the
incorporation into a routine of specialty props, such as jump ropes, suitcases, and stairs. Eccentric,
legomania and comedy each used the body in eccentric and comedic ways to fool the eye and
characteristically involved wild and wiggly leg movements. Swing/classical tap combines the upper
body movement found in 20th century ballet and jazz with percussive, syncopated footwork, a style
used extensively in the movies. Military is the use of military marching and drum rhythms. Lastly
rhythm, close floor and paddle and roll each emphasized footwork using heel and toe taps, typically of
a rapid and rhythmic

Capturing the Friedmans
Home movies are about innocence our lost fuzzy, glowing personal pasts, all horseplay, and funny
hats and the promise of youth (Cooper, 23). Andrew Jarecki s remarkable film, Capturing the
Friedmans captured just what is clearly a case study of extreme family dysfunction through such home
videos. At first Andrew Jarecki just wanted to do a nice little documentary about clowns. He decided
to try film making and thought he would cut his teeth on something easy like birthday party clowns.
He had met David Friedman a top childrens birthday party clown from Manhattan, New York. Much

It was also in this search that the inspectors began to have suspicions that the crimes could have
involved local children who came to the room for music lessons and computer classes. Jarecki
successfully emphasizes the situation leading up to Arnold s arrest that he gives the audience such
imagery of what was in Arnold s house that we start to believe that he is guilty of sex crimes. With
notable skill, Jarecki and his editor Richard Hankin, have interwoven the family movies with
interviews of the Friedmans, relevant police officials, postal inspectors, some lawyers, and specialists
of several kinds (Kauffmann, 25). Jarecki uses editing for persuasion. As the film begins and starts to
get going we are exposed to numerous interviews that both support and oppose Arnold and Jesse.
Jarecki favorably edits opposing points of view together in order to emphasize the complexity and
moral underpinnings of the case. For example the shots when Arnold and Jesse are arrested, during
those scenes we see and hear from their lawyer Peter. From there we see views of their trial and views
of the lawyer. Andrew Jarecki also keeps the issue of guilt and innocence darkened with the use of
editing. As in the part of the film David talks about how his

Essay On Dog Desensitisation
Fears and phobias are reversed by using operant conditioning techniques such as desensitisation,
combined with positive re assosiation in order to help turn a negative association into a positive one
(positive rewards). Whilst helping a dog overcome a fear of something using desensitisation or
immersion therapy, a dog will always choose avoidance, but if the dog is allowed the option to choose
avoidance, the fear will never be overcome. So the only way a dog will overcome it s fear of bicycles
would be to face it and work towards a more positive assosiation. Positive rewards are useful in this
instance. A strong smelling food treat would be ideal, so that the dog is more keen on the reward it
receives.

Why is timing important when using treats as part of a behaviour modification program to help
overcome a fear or phobia?
When overcoming a fear or phobia with the use of treats, it is important to get the timing right. For
example, a dog that is rewarded whilst still in a fearful state would make matters worse. A reward
must be used to get the dog s attention and take it s mind off the source of the fear. It is important that
you do not unintentionally reward the wrong behaviour as this can confuse a dog and encourage
unwanted behaviour instead of the behaviour you want, whilst also prolonging the behaviour
modification process.
The key to rewarding behaviour is also reifnorcement, not bribery. Reinforcement is basically a
reward given for a job well done, whilst bribary would be showing a dog a treat before the wanted
behaviour, and only then giving them the reward. Bribery is best to be avoided as if you do not, you
could create a dog that will only follow your commands when bribed with food and this is not ideal.
So only show a dog the reward AFTER they have successfully completed a behavior, and not

officially got us involved in World War II. Although Roosevelt didn t like confliction he announced a

studied economics and sociology. As Reagan grew older his political views went from liberal to
conservative. In 1966 he was elected governor of California then re elected in 1970. In 1980 Reagan
won the Republican Presidential nomination then took office on January 20, 1981. He won the
presidential race easily due to the inflation and secret of Americans in Iran. Only sixty nine days later
after he took office he was shot. While Reagan was in office the economy grew, inflation lessened,
employment increased, and national defense was strengthened. He helped the economy by cutting
taxes and government expenses. In 1984, Reagan won a second term due to his brilliance in his first.
At the end of his presidency the nation had the longest period of peacetime prosperity without

Eugene Onegin Essay

A tremendous explosion of emotion, of pain intermingled with joy is what transpires at the end of
Onegin, since there is an acknowledgment of a frustrated yet genuine and abiding love on both
characters parts. Pushkin s Eugene Onegin travels throughout the world only to discover that what is
most precious in it is the modest, shy Tatiana s heart which he had arrogantly set aside years ago in
order to pursue his vain and false ambitions. His final effort to woo Tatiana is no base attempt to
seduce a married woman, but a cathartic, necessary atonement for his earlier haughty dismissal of her.
At long, long last the young woman s heartbreaking love letter heartbreaking for her, in time for
Onegin, forever for readers gets the commensurate response from its original recipient it deserves.
Tatiana s rejection of his overtures has little to do with revenge, but is the ultimate validation of her
character and worth. A physical relationship between the two is not just unthinkable since she is now

  • 2. Use Matlab to Understand Bonds Valuation Use Matlab to get an intuitive understanding of bonds valuation. 1. Basic knowledge: 1.1 The price equation and its six contributing factors As we know, there are six factors that determine the expected price of bonds: the par value(F), the maturity(n) the yield to maturity(y), the coupon interest(CF), the interest payment frequency(m), and the interest rates for each period(ri). We assume that the coupon interest is fixed, then the price of bonds(P)is the discounted cash flows of each period: P=i=1nm(CF(1+ym)i)+F(1+ym)mn=i=1nm(CF(1+rim)i)+F(1+rnm)mn Indeed, to intuitively understand this equation is not easy. • 3. Why Women s Women Have Been Repressed For A Long Period... Why not Women? Women have been repressed for a long period of history. Only recently have women started to gain respect as equals and individuals. While women s rights have advanced in many ways in the past 50 years alone, it is obvious that there is a significant disconnect in the advancement of women in the church. The promotion of gender equality is a slow and painful process, and has barely begun to progress worldwide. Attitudes towards women as leaders in the church, and in religion in general, are rooted in Biblical interpretations of women s involvement, not only in leadership in the church, but also in marriage, society, and government. The role of gender in religion is one that is often ignored; yet the issue should be addressed in that most religions, particularly Christianity and Catholicism, place women in submissive roles. This encourages the gender gap in society as a whole. Traditionally, Christianity has given men the position of authority in marriage, society, and government. The Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches, and many conservative Protestant denominations emphasize today that only men can be ordained as priests, clergy, and as deacons. Even though women are not seen as traditional leaders in the church, the majority of Christians have immense respect for women. After all, God chose a woman, Mary, to have the honor of giving birth to Jesus, the Son of God. Historically, women have played very significant roles in religion. Nuns, specifically, ... Manual based therapies proposed to individuals or groups have an equal efficiency in the decrease of anxiety signs in youngsters. How can this be further explained? Perhaps that is because it reinforces the theory that team vehicles may provide more positive peer modeling chances, reinforcement, as well as social support. They are additionally a practical option when it concerns the limited availability of child focused alternative therapy treatment specialists. Child and adolescent team programs are focused on dealing with one certain, currently existing stress and anxiety problem. • 6. The Public Education System In The United States From the beginning of its existence, the United States has pushed for a democratic society due to its strict ruling under the English monarchy. A democratic society is simply viewed as a society that is based on the ideas of democracy: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In order to produce people who perpetuate this type of government, a proper education is vital. American philosopher John Dewey had a vision that democracy should work hand in hand with the education system. Dewey strongly believed that participating in a democratic society was extremely important, and he thought that the education system was the way to achieve that. In the current schooling system, every child is presented with the same luxury: the equal chance to receive a proper education. However, schooling systems stop here. Today s education system is preparing students to participate and perpetuate in a democratic society to a certain extent. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee tells the story of Scout Finch as her family, friends, and herself as they endure and encounter different types of prejudice such as getting ridiculed for being a tomboy, racism, and reverse racism. Scout is considered a tomboy because she does not wear dresses because she can do nothing in a dress (Lee 92) so instead she wears overalls or pants. She also goes to Finch s Landing and starts to cuss around her Uncle Jack; when he asks her does she want to Grow up and be a lady, (Lee 90) she tells him Not particularly. • 8. Analysis Of Paul Green Theatre At Detroit 67 And Took My... When I walked into Paul Green Theatre to watch Detroit 67 and took my seat on stage right, my first thought was this story is going to be entirely depressing. The scene was a dingy living space of a family in the 1960 s with a cold concrete floor that served as a modest barrier between the stage and audience along with a dimly lit single room containing a couch and a record player in the front of the stage. I could almost feel the chilly aura being emitted from the concrete floor and poorly painted, solid grey steps leading up to the stage exit. In the back of the setting was a combined kitchen, wash, and bar area. All these signs of destitution were nothing special except for one piece of the scenery that did not fit the rest. The Christmas lights that served as decor for the backstage bar area stood out to me and I figured the time took place around Christmastime. Even still, the lights could not eradicate the dreary feeling looming overhead in the dark theatre. Then, I heard the music and everything changed. Suddenly, Marvin Gaye s voice broke through my deep, somber thoughts and gave me a glimmer of hope. There was no doubt that I was hearing Ain t No Mountain High Enough, and I knew at that point that the play would have have a resilient message. The setlists of this play would include many more 60 s top artist, such as The Temptations, Four Tops, and Earth,Wind, Fire. This was a great way to tell the story before the main presentation of the story took place. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. My Parents At My Childhood Home When living with both my parents at my childhood home, I attended Abraham Lincoln Washington Elementary until the fourth grade. I stared going to pre school when I was 3 years old and then transitioned into Kindergarten, where I attended Abraham Lincoln. The school included grade levels from Kindergarten to eight grade. I loved going to school and would have my mother prepare my lunch box early in the morning before walking me to school. We only lived three blocks from school, which was very convenient for my mother and baby sister. My mother always walked me to class, but my father would literally walk me to the corner of the street, which was two houses away from where we lived and would watch me take the three block walk to school alone. My mother would mostly take me to class, but on days she wasn t feeling well, she would have my father take me. However, I m not sure why he would let me walk alone because if my mother knew, she would have a panic attack. I was eager to go to school and play with my friends at recess. Although, I liked to learn new things, I mostly liked going to school to socialize with people my own age. I ve always had a fascination for art and numbers, which is probably why I m artistically gifted and creative. My favorite subjects were P.E., art and math. I received a lot of certificates for student of the month during my elementary years and was on the honor role and principles list numerous times. Before I was able to go into fourth grade, I was ... • 10. Wars End, By Harry Truman Essay Wars End Imagine a road. The horrid smell and images of bloodshed flash through your head as you try to focus on walking down this path. You soon come to the disgusting realization that you are walking upon dead soldiers. Trenching forward you approach a fork in the road. Surrounded by death you try to keep your head clear, and focus on making a clear decision. Seemingly both roads end in traumatic loss of human life. You soon realize you are on the path of war, the most destructive path in human history. The metaphorical road we walk upon is analogous to the pacific war, a war that became Americas focal point after the fall of the third Reich in Berlin. With this war came Harry Truman s dilemma, to bomb, or not to bomb. The decision would be questioned for decades to come. The pacific war ended with the first and last atomic bomb to ever be discharged. Although whether Truman s decision was the right one is arguable, you may find that through investigation of this war, many compelling reasons to use the atomic bomb jump out at you. To draw the conclusion that the Japan bombing was the correct decision, one must examine these five topics: Japan s culture and values during world war two, Japan s tactical military strategies, the culture of world war two, alternatives to bombing and the arguments that are against using the atomic bomb. When discussing the topic of the pacific war, one would be foolish not to mention the culture of Japan and the influence it had on the wars ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Analysis Of The Movie Insomnia In the movie Insomnia, the main character, Will Dormer daydreams, has hallucinations, and flashbacks often throughout the movie. This attributed to his everyday life by causing him to space out and veer off track. These symptoms appear to be most similar to those of the insomnia disorder. Insomnia is not only the inability to get sleep, stay asleep, or get a good quality of sleep, but is also an altered state of consciousness. Many factors that can contribute to insomnia include medical or psychiatric illness, sleep disorders, medications, the environment and even poor sleep habits. Sometimes depression and anxiety can also contribute to this disorder as well. Some symptoms of this may include daydreaming, fatigue, drowsiness, confusion, tension headaches, anxiety, hallucinations, flashbacks, sleep deprivation, light sensitivity, and distressing memories and dreams. Even though, there are many ways to combat this disorder, not everyone will, as seen by Will Dormer s actions throughout this movie. Insomnia is a sleep disorder that can be caused by various factors. Like in the beginning of the movie, Insomnia, Will Dormer struggles to fall asleep at the time of investigating a murder in a town where the sun does not set. A lack of melatonin could have lead to the first few signs of sleep deprivation. Melatonin is a hormone produced by a gland in the brain, and helps regulate other hormones and maintains the body s circadian rhythm. Melatonin is produced on a larger ... • 12. The Advantages Of Surrogate Endpoints In clinical research, a clinical endpoint is a sign or symptom that constitutes a target outcome of a study. Unfortunately, there may be no convenient clinical endpoint for some studies. Similarly, the concentration of viral particles is used in HIV/AIDS studies. Bone density is used in osteoporosis studies. Surrogate endpoints are physiological or biochemical markers that are easier to measure than true endpoints. Surrogate endpoints often occur soon after the intervention in the disease process. The development of the airplane industry allowed people to go anywhere faster, and the development of the IT industry allowed people easily stay connected to each other through the online world. The war was fought in the United States after seven Southern slave sates declared their separation to form the Confederate States of America. The Southern states were known as the Confederacy. But, the states that remained which were the Northern States were called the Union. The War was the deadliest war in American history; it killed approximately 620,000 soldiers. The soldiers died from combat, accidents, starvation, and diseases. The Southern States declared secession because they did not want to get rid of slavery. However, the Northern States and Abraham Lincoln had abolished slavery and were completely against it. This made the Southern states upset; it became the major cause of The Civil War. On April 12, 1861, the deadliest was begun, shots were fired. The Confederate soldiers attacked the Union s Fort Sumter in South Carolina. General Beauregard sent Major Anderson a message an hour before the attack saying he would fire if Anderson and his soldiers didn t surrender. An hour passed and Anderson did not surrender so the firing began. Major Anderson and 68 of his soldiers were inside the fort when the attack began. Therefore, some critical questions for children of color in the context of the role fairy tales may play in the identity formation of children would be: How am I represented in the images in the tales? What do these fairy tales tell me about me and about others? If I am not in the picture at all, what does this mean? (Hurley, 228). Over many years, Disney princesses have developed into something that little girls admire. With this, Disney only producing one race is quite limiting to say the least. As a globally dominant producer of cultural constructs related to gender, race, ethnicity, class and sexuality, Disney reigns supreme, and part of that supreme reign is an unquestionable privileging of patriarchy and whiteness (Lester 294). However, recent Disney films similar to Princess and the Frog have impacted this generation by breaking past racial barriers and influencing the upcoming children. Creating characters like Tiana give young children of all races a heroine princess from a Disney film that inspires and act as a role model in many ways. By Disney broadening their princess standards: opening up the franchise to produce lead characters of various races, have altered the viewers perspective. Heathcliff Betrayal In Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff s cruel childhood experiences with Hindley s dehumanizing treatment and Catherine s betrayal affect him negatively, causing him to develop a desire for vengeance as a sense of closure. This association with revenge as closure for his childhood illuminates the theme that people do not always move forward from the cruel events in their life, and though they strive to move on, the result does not always give them happiness. A complete opposite to the constant malicious undertone of Heathcliff s relations with Hindley, Heathcliff grows to fall in love with Catherine and her haughty, headstrong nature (Brontë). Aside from their father, Catherine was the first person in the Earnshaw household to bestow upon him love, respect, and basic human kindness. It would be after her selfish betrayal that Heathcliff s relations with her undulates from a nostalgic love to vengeful hatred. Catherine s betrayal of her constant headstrong nature originates from her desire to keep her social status as opposed to marrying Heathcliff even though she loves him. She chooses to marry Edgar Linton instead, a man of honorable status in the community, due to the fact that he is handsome, and pleasant to be with as well as the fact that his future inheritance will make her the greatest woman of the neighborhood (Brontë). Her selfish endeavor to gain a higher status is what causes Heathcliff to feel betrayed as he only hears half of the conversation, not hearing the love that Catherine proclaims for Heathcliff even though she chose to wed Edgar. This lack of communication between the two is what fuels Heathcliff s desire to gain revenge for Catherine s selfishness. Throughout his search for vengeance, Heathcliff still loves Catherine, which will be a hindrance to him as his unwillingness to move on from Catherine and his desire for justice overpowers his cause of happiness. It is important that you do not unintentionally reward the wrong behaviour as this can confuse a dog and encourage unwanted behaviour instead of the behaviour you want, whilst also prolonging the behaviour modification process. The key to rewarding behaviour is also reifnorcement, not bribery. Reinforcement is basically a reward given for a job well done, whilst bribary would be showing a dog a treat before the wanted behaviour, and only then giving them the reward.
