Pro Choice Vs. Abortion
Introduction Pro Choice is an opposing position against the pro life that completely and clearly
advocates that every women in the world has equal rights of having abortion and there will no
legal or religious restriction against electing an abortion in routine life. Many of social religious,
civil and national federations raised a slogan against abortionand in the support of this opposition
all of these communities and people also run Pro life movement, United States. This movement
opposes Pro choice and many people considered in early days that abortion is an illegal
phenomenon, while the religious communities strongly believed this would be an evil and would
also cause of God s anger. When USA Supreme Court in 1973 announced its final decision in case
of Roe v. Wadeabout the right of having an abortion, then most of country laws and legislations
were stuck down in many of American States. After this, it was declared that would be no legal
penalty to a woman for having an elective abortion after having a sex (Kerns,....... Steinauer, 2012).
Discussion Pro choice is just for advocacy and supporting the women s rights to have abortion
whenever they want. This part of assignment will illustrate some of reasons, facts, statistics and
ethical arguments about the right of women to have an elective abortion according to situations and
their physical conditions.
1) Reasons of Pro Choice As there are sound reasons of pro life in health industry, so there are also

Analysis Of Anna Kendrick s Scrappy Little Nobody
1 Anna Kendrick (written with Abbie) I Remember Every Slight: You ve Been Warned and
Mike and Anna Take New York , are two excerpts from the book Scrappy Little Nobody, by Anna
Kendrick. Kendrick uses detailed stories to recreate a picture of her childhood, including
memories of sleepovers, school bullies , and bus trips to New York. Anna Kendrick also
mentions people that were part of her life, such as her parents sending her and her brother to
New York for an audition, and Tori the bully who tried to steal all of her friends. Kendrick
expresses her anger when Tori frames her for insulting her friends, and shares about the excitement
she felt when she landed her first acting job. All of this being told from a first person point of...

He tells all of this from a first person perspective. Bill O Reilly uses humor and wordplay to
engage the reader. My favorite phrase from his memoir was even though he is eternally young,
Peter Pan was getting kind of old he said this when he was talking about finally getting to watch
something other than a disney movie. He tells everything with no details left out. O Reilly used
imagery when describing the time he finally gave the annoying woman what she deserved, he
wrote, The child, distraught and panic stricken, then dropped the sundae, and all that extra hot
fudge hit the steamy, sticky pavement, immediately finding a comfortable home. 3 Tom Brokaw
Games an excerpt from A Long Way from Home: Growing Up in the American Heartland by
Tom Brokaw uses memories of growing up in a small town in the midwest to share his
experiences with the world. He uses memories such as chasing foul balls at baseball games to
turn them in for a dime a piece and playing basketball with a rolled up sock to connect and relate
to the reader. Brokaw talks about lasting friendships that were made with the boys in his town
such as Johnny Strutz never actually played baseball with them but was the decision maker when
the teams were bickering. He shares how he felt proud that he could give one of his favorite
coaches tickets to the olympics opening ceremonies, and how devastated he was when his basketball

Personal Publishing Is Broken, By Michael P. Taylor
Academic publishing is something that many people will experience at some point, either in
school or at their job, and some of whom are being paid to publish in academic journals. When
published in academic journals, to read the papers, those interested would need to buy an expensive
subscription and annually renew it. However, this is starting to take a toll on many universities and
researchers around the world because they do not have the past research that others performed to
base their future research on. Michael P. Taylor s Opinion: Academic Publishing
is Broken,
addresses the fact that many people do not have access to academic literature, due to the high cost
of purchasing subscriptions for the academic journals, and that is... Show more content on

Taylor is a research associate in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol. To
make an impact in the scientific community, a scientist must publish their research in academic
journals, specifically journals for certain areas of science. Taylor has published many papers about
the structure of dinosaurs bodies and the evolution of dinosaurs in both open access journals and
academic journals ( Michael P Taylor ). This shows that Taylor himself had to experience the
process of publishing papers, both in academic journals and open access journals, and going
through other academic journals to create ideas for new scientific discoveries. Therefore, he
understands both the research side and the side of the ordinary citizens who want to read scientific
papers. This impacts the audience by making them understand that Taylor is a credible person to be
writing an article on this topic, strengthening his argument.
Additionally, Taylor shows that he is a credible source for the discussion of open access publishing
through being knowledgeable about the topic by using statistics and doing his own research to
strengthen his argument. Taylor begins his article by explaining that the money that comes from
the taxations of the taxpayers goes to the government to be reallocated into the government funded
research. Then, the researchers release their information by publishing it in academic journals,
using the government s money. Next, by defining open

Arguments For Plaintiffs Motion Attorneys Fees And Costs
OPPOSITION TO PLAINTIFF S MOTION FOR DEFENDANT TO ADVANCE ATTORNEYS
FEES and COSTS
COMES NOW, the Defendant, Michael A. McNeil, and opposes the Plaintiff s Motion for
Defendant to Advance Attorney s Fees and Costs and states the following:
1.The Plaintiff s Motion is not properly before this court since she failed to bring it pursuant any
applicable rule since the matter before this court is a child custody/support matter and not a
divorce/alimony/property settlement matter which Sections 7 107, 8 214, and 11 110 of the
Maryland Code s Family Law Article are concerned with. (See ¶¶ 8 through 10 of this document)

Law Article this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for this Court to grant attorney s fees and costs, under Section 12 103 it is required to
perform a Section 12 103(b)(3) analysis in order to determine whether either party had a substantial
justification for bringing, maintaining, or defending the proceeding. Since this requires the Court
to perform a retrospective analysis, it is impossible for this Court to perform the analysis at this
point in the litigation.
5.However, if the Court was to perform a Section 12 103(b)(3) analysis today, it would find that the
Defendant s prima facie case is well supported by police reports, school records, an expert witness
report, the Plaintiff s own testimony, the Plaintiff s own admissions, and the Defendant s testimony.
Whereas, the Plaintiff s prima facie case is not so well supported. (See ¶¶ 31 through 38 of this
document).
6.Additionally, the Plaintiff is seeking $20,000 in attorney fees for discovery, expert witness,
and other costs. It should be noted that accordance with Scheduling Order (D.E. 588) the period
for Discovery came to an end on June 2, 2016, and the times for designating experts ended on
June 8, 2016. Also., neither times for designating experts or discovery has been extended.

12. How are the Internet and interactive performances changing what we understand by
performance and live audience performer relations?
The development and improvement of the Internet has revolutionised the way of communication
and greatly changed how information is shared. It is now an essential means of communication, and
can be used for most of the daily activities: sending messages, online shopping, reading news, and
even watching performances. Producers and performers have been experiencing with this new

Pros And Cons Of Bitcoin Wallets
Bitcoin Wallets What are they and How Do they Work?
Do you need a digital Bitcoin wallet for your mobile device or desktop computer? To understand
what a Bitcoin Wallet is, you should first learn about the Bitcoin. It is defined as a digital currency
that is transacted virtually rather than tangibly. Bitcoin was founded in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto,
a mysterious entity that abandoned their venture in 2010. Bitcoin was the first currency to use
cryptography, and there is no match for it until now. Cryptography is all about encryption of data
and communication when being conveyed online to ensure maximum security.
So, what is a Bitcoin Wallet?

Many types of coin wallet exist. Each of these wallets has its own pros and cons that you need to be
aware of. These are:
1.Desktop computer wallets
These entail software that is downloaded from the internet and installed on a laptop or a desktop PC.
The desktop software offers the user total control over their coins, ensuring that they do not entrust
them to dishonest third parties.
Desktop wallets are seen as the most secure because they are less likely to be targeted by internet
hackers who would mostly attack a group of Bitcoin addresses to be able to steal many coins at
once. Having a desktop wallet does not guarantee complete security though. You have the
responsibility to protect your Bitcoins from anything that could compromise the security of your PC.
If you are running a full node, it means that you have downloaded the entire block chain on your
PC or laptop and are solely responsible for updating it so that you can reference it when
transacting. A node is described as a spot on a network. For instance, the node will be the desktop
computer for those choosing to use it. A full node isn t always fun to run

Causes Of Water Scarcity
The Global Water Institute stated that approximately 700 million people in 43 countries are
currently suffering from water stress and scarcity in 2013 , by 2025 2.8 billion people will face
water stress and scarcity (Hameeteman, 2013, p.3). The global water supply is approximately
2.5% freshwater and 97.5% is saltwater (Hameeteman, 2013, p.4). Hence, it is crucial that the
Earth s population tries to manage the water stress and scarcity. There are many causes of water
stress and scarcity, for instance: overuse of water due to economic reasons, pollution of water,
drought, governmental access and policies, and many more. In Africa, many children and women
are responsible in collecting water, thus, traveling large distances to collect clean or unclean water.
In addition, sanitationfacilities are inadequate causing half the population to suffer from
waterborne diseases (Hameeteman, 2013, p.6). As a result, unclean water and poor sanitation are
a leading cause of illness and death in this region. There are a few approaches to providing clean
water to the African population, for example: piped water, stand posts and wells. Moreover, poor
sanitation can be alleviated with pit latrines, urine diversion dry toilets and pour flush toilets
(Septien, 2015). However, such methods can be expensive. Hence, it is important to understand the
household s income and the economic situation of the country. Contrary, different strategies are

Implementing A New Program That Will Benefit An Industry
Implementing a new program that will benefit an industry takes investors, time, money and a
planning committee to ensure that the proper regulations is selected for the right. It also ensures
that the best processes that are in place will benefit the business at its appropriate time. In health
care the demands for modification and adjustment comes often to benefit the overall care for the
patient. In today s society, technology has thrust its way into the forefront of medicineand its
demand has become high, causing it to be an important factor in healthcare (Palvia Thambusamy,

Implementing Best Practices
When implementing ways to eliminate medication errors are impossible, however best practices
should be applied to avoid as many concerns or issues that could present itself. Through research
there are many approaches that have been found to support the reduction of medication errors.
The first areas to review was the way that medication orders are written, too many times
medication orders are left to facilities with non licensed nurses transcribe orders or to receive a
verbal order from the physician s office, sometimes written prescription are also faxed. When
orders are received the staff member should verify the order with the physician s office or have the
office to escript the prescription directly to the pharmacy. Therefore if the order is incorrect, then
the pharmacist who is licensed can obtain the correct order for the facility, it then can be sent to

Osha And Its Involvement Of The Meatpacking Industry
In contradiction to the downgrading tone presented in the previous discussion towards OSHA
and its involvement in the meatpacking industry, the implementation of OSHA had some
uplifting attributes even though it had minute significance to the cause as presented by the
scholarly individual, Dr. Sears, and the two notable muckraker, Eric Schlosser and Upton

With the increasing costs, both financial and ecological, of fossil fuels, fuel efficiency in
vehicles has become an increasingly important factor. Vehicle manufacturers and designers are
exploring alternative fuels, with electric, hybrid and hydrogen powered vehicles being looked at
as viable alternatives. Solar power has been somewhat overlooked but has the ability to become
widely used because it is both clean and economical. The advantages over fossil fuels are

Battery packs are still heavy, bulky and expensive but the costs of solar power are coming down
while the cost of gasoline keeps going up. A number of different vehicles from sports cars to
vans to golf carts have had solar panels added to flat surfaces, primarily their roofs. Some of the
vehicles are ordinary cars which have been modified for solar; others are highly futuristic. The
picture below is a good example of a futuristic design. The vehicle, called car on a stick was
designed to be used as a streetlight when not being driven, which accounts for the one sitting at a
higher elevation in the picture, as opposed to the one on the ground. It would also save on

The Courage to Differ Essay example
Life has many instances in which one must choose whether to stand apart from the group and
disagree with his peers or to nod vehemently in agreement and quickly seek security as a part of
the group. Many choose to follow the crowd because of the fear of rejection. They hang tightly to
the bumper of the car of acceptance not worrying of the cuts and scrapes they are suffering as they
struggle to hold on. Others painfully watch the car drive over the horizon and reassure themselves
continually that it was worth it to stay behind. When we are older and look upon our past, we will
realize that the courage to dissent or assent during our lifetimes can cause us either regret or
contentment.

The Impact Of Multi-Ethnicity On Queer Identity
The Impact of Multi Ethnicity on Queer Identity During the interview, Hans pointed out that his
multi ethnic background has a big impact on his identity formation and his current lifestyle. In
particular, he stressed on the psychological trauma of the doubt, that it would be impossible for him
to know for certain if discriminationhas prevented him from access to tangible opportunities or
benefits: there is looming sense of did I not get this because of my lack of skill or talent or is it
because of my sexual identity and race? I think the doubt is even more pervasive and detrimental
than any one instance of explicit discrimination. He stated that this doubt is ever present, and he
often feels helpless about it, because racismand heterosexism is built in most of the societies and
cultures, and most of systemic prejudice derives from actions and ideologies that are covert and
oblique. Prejudice is dark, and idiotic, and frustrating, and pure negativity... I try not to get too
bogged down with the fact that I feel that my personal culture is working against my ultimate goals
in life.
Although he never experienced bullying or abusive relationship, he dealt with various forms of
microaggressions and subtle discrimination against his sexuality and his ethnicity throughout his
life. For example, a form of microinvalidation happens when his female friends make insensitive
comments as you don t dress well for gay guy, because this comment carries hidden insulting
message.

2. LITERATURE REVIEW
Estimates reported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD,1997)
suggest that several countries have experienced very rapid growth of the private sector during
the transition period. A number of studies have suggested that investment and growth in
developing economies is positively associated with indicators of openness and export promotion
(Balasubramanyam et al., 1996). Such findings may suggest that investors prefer countries with
relatively liberal trade regimes and few constraints on profit repatriation, possibly within regions
with wider supra national free trade arrangements. De Mello (2000) analyzed the time series and
panel data for 32 OECD and non OECD countries for the period 1970 90. He estimated the
impact of FDI on capital accumulation and output growth in the recipient economy supporting the
FDI led growth hypothesis. Similarly, Soto (2000); Alfaro, Chanda, Kalelmi Ozcan, Sayek
(2004); Li and Liu (2005) found positive impact of FDI on GDP growth. They all used FDI
measure as percentage of GDP. Liu et al. (2002) examined the long run relationship between
economic growth, FDI and trade in China. A study on the quarterly data for imports,

Research Paper On Jesus
Writing Assessment Option 1: Who I Admire
Thousands of people are idolized and admired every day. However, who would be the greatest
role model to admire? What actions, or feelings need to be demonstrated? Feelings of love, caring
or hatred? A man who was perfect, that shown miracles, and that treated equally, and even
sacrificed his life for all of us, is the perfect example of who to admire. To introduce, the man, his
name is Jesus. In history, Jesus was immeasurably known as the man of perfection, and was also
known as the holy one and divine in his human nature. Why do people think that Jesus was
perfect? Above all things, Jesus loved everyone and people loved him back. Our savior, Jesus
Christ, is the one who displayed many miracles, treated people equally, and is the one who

Burmese Pythons And Their Effect On Native Species
BURMESE PYTHONS

Principles of Ecology
Introduction
Burmese Pythons and their effect on native species in the Everglades Burmese Pythons is a non
native pest in the United States of America, which originated from South Asia. The species is
becoming an established breeding population in South Florida and its environs. The python was
illegally freed in the Everglades National park where the marshy grasses and water provide a
conducive environment for its survival. Burmese python was recognized as a reproducing
population around the year 2000. The python has been classified as an invasive species in Florida.
The species has disrupted the ecosystem by preying on native species and out competing them for
food. The python is a successful invasive species because their large size makes it have fewer
predators (alligators and humans) (Brown, 2006). Efforts have been put in place to manage the
increase of the Burmese pythons due to the devastating effects it has caused in the ecosystem.
Python removal and control is being done through dogs and human search. Dog search has recorded
much greater success than human beings because humans cannot access some areas due to the
thick vegetation. The origin of Burmese python can be attributed to the regions of South East Asia
including Burma,Thailand, China, and the regions of Archipelago. There is continued decrease of
the python in its native land, which has placed

Maple Wood Research Paper
Maple is most commonly associated with the production of syrup, not primarily with smoking
food. Sugar maple trees are tapped for their sap, which is reduced to make maple syrup and
reduced even further to make maple sugar. The sugar contained in the wood is thought to enhance
its value as a smoking wood.
Which tree do maple wood chips come from?
Maple trees are native to Asia but can also be found in Europe, Africa and North America. There
are about 128 species of maple tree. The wood from maple trees is classified as a hardwood,
which means that it is dense and relatively dry when compared to the wood from softwoods.
Wood from softwood trees like redwood and cedar can be highly resinous. Resinous woods cause
creosote build up and can give foods an unpleasant taste. How does smoking with maple wood
chips impact taste? How is it unique?
Maple wood is said to give ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has more in common with fruit woods like cherry and apple than with stronger flavored woods
like hickory or mesquite. It is perfect when used in combination with the more flavorful woods
as you can use it to tone down their harshness and to give them a little sweetness. Note that while
maple wood does give out a lot of white smoke when you first put it on the coals, it will quickly be
replaced by the light blue smoke you want from your wood chips. Which foods work best with the
maple wood chip flavor?
Maple wood s sweetness is thought to be best for pork and poultry and will pair well with their
flavors. This is because those meats are milder and maple wood enhances their flavors without
canceling them out the way a stronger tasting wood might. Maple wood does an especially good
job when used to smoke hams. If you pair it with another mild smoke wood like alder, you can
use maple wood chips to smoke fish like salmon and trout. Maple is also used by some to smoke
cheeses, often in combination with other mild

The Biological Theories Of Race
As a black girl, I have thought about race a lot. I have personally seen how race has affected my

people. Of course, I know that race does not exist as a scientific category. The theory of race is not
a biological reality, and has been proven as illegitimate. There is after all only one racethe human
race. We all have the same basic characteristics and genetically are all homo sapien sapiens. Our
physical differences can be explained by means of Charles Darwin s concept of human variation.

Congruent Communication In The Classroom
Haim Ginott
Focuses on how adults can build the self concepts of children, especially emphasizing that adults
should avoid attacks on the child s character and instead focus on the situation or actions.
Finding effective alternatives to punishment.
Effective classroom management is dependent on the manner the teacher interacts with the students.
Teachers should maintain a secure, humanitarian, and productive classroom through the use of
congruent communication and appropriate use of praise.
Congruent communication essentially means to match the students feelings towards a certain
situation or current feelings about themselves.
A variety of ways a teacher can express congruent communication:
Deliver sane messages
Addresses the situation, not how the student handled the situation.
Express anger appropriately
Rather than go on a rampage telling the student how annoying they are or something wrong that
they did, walk the student(s) through your frustrations. For example, instead of saying, You are so
irresponsible when you... simply say, It makes me angry when you... .
Invite cooperation
Allow students to demonstrate their independence. For example, rather than selecting the seating
chart let the students pick; or an example we talked about in class, include the students in creating
the classroom rules.
Accept and acknowledge student feelings
Be someone that they can go to express their feelings. Walk the student(s) through their emotions
and validate what they

Byzantines Dbq Essay
The Byzantines have made many great accomplishments during the middle ages. Whether you re
talking about the numerous defeats they have in battles to their defenses or the impact they had on
Christianity, there s no doubt of the importance of studying the Byzantines. The purpose of this
paper is to explain why it is important to study the Byzantines.
The Byzantines had many defeats in battles against the Persians, Avars, and Muslim Arabs. The
Byzantines withstood five years of siege by the Arabs, and in doing so, saved Western civilization.
(Doc A) By winning the battles against the Arabs, they saved Constantinoplefrom being captured

a moat and three walls, each 25 feet thick, on the land side. (Doc B) Invaders were first faced
with the moat that was 60 feet wide and 22 feet deep. This was normally dry but could be

Lord Of The Glies And William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Human nature brought to light many philosophical queries; one major one is the question: what
components does a government need in order to effectively coincide and last along side
humans? Forced to answer this question on their own, a group of boys, stranded on an island in
William Golding s classic novel Lord of the Flies, elect Ralph, a young and energetic male who
brought the boys together, to be their leader, instead of Jack, a boy who disregards other s ideas
and views his ideas as the best. The boys, especially a well educated lad named Piggy, try their
best to give everyone an equal status on the island; however, their society inevitably collapses
because of the fact that the boys have no effective system for preventing power hungry figures from
obtaining too much power and leading their society down a path of failure. When differentiating the
actions taken by the boys to the political theories of French Enlightenment thinker Baron de
Montesquieu, the most noteworthy difference is the boys unsuccessful attempt in implementing a
system of checks and balances that could ve prevented Jack from leading their society into
devastation. The boys inability to successfully integrate Montesquieu s idea of a governing system
with checks and balances resulted in the absence of the rights for freedom of speech and equal
representation on the island. Montesquieu believed that the only way to successfully prevent a
person from having too much power was to create a system of

As of today s date, the United States Census Bureau estimated the world s population to be an

1.2% per year. On the other hand, nearly 600 years ago, the population was around 300 million
(according to the CIA). Ever since improvements in agricultural productivity and medical advances,
population growth has risen drastically over the years. However, when studies proved that it could

Technological advancement in fertility treatment grants couples the ability to have a much more

Unfortunately, overpopulation causes drastic and detrimental effects on our planet. They include:
shortage of resources (water supply, food supply)
social problems (War and conflicts, population density e.g.)
species endangerment (Destruction of habitats, species extinction e.g.)
These complications take place because there is an addition of nearly 1 billion people on Earth
every 12 years. These issues will only grow if there s no solution.
Global Perspectives Part 2
India launched its own national family planning program in 1951, which also became the world s
first governmental population stabilization program. Up until now, it is estimated to have
prevented 168 million births. In the early 1970s, the Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi
implemented a program regarding forced sterilization on men with two or more children. But
when it got too far, such as when single and poor men were subjected to the program, or when a
few states stated it was compulsory in order for people to receive new housing or other
government benefits, it was hugely criticized and ended as a failure.
Nevertheless, India still faces another dilemma: Abortion. The sex ratio of boys to girls (babies) is
1.12/1. In many parts of India (like many other Asian countries), having daughters are not preferred;

A Brief Note On Crime And Crime Rates
Crime is one of the major issues that America has been facing for over one hundred years.
Although crime has been steadily decreasing ever since the 1990 s there are still a lot of room for
improvement. With this issue bring many subsequent problems, such as incarcerated people per
capita. This doesn t only have an extreme burden on those incarcerated and their families, but also
on the federal government. This costs them billions of dollars every year to control delinquent
behavior but it still hasn t worked to its full potential. There are three topics containing four

The first studied found there was a strong correlation between the rate at which someone is
arrested for an offense and the rate of the same offense (Tittle and Rowe, 1974). This was mostly
seen in robberies, when a robber was arrested the rate of robberies would slightly decrease. This
poses two reason of the decrease, either the other people who frequently rob people do it less
frequently because they are frightened to also be arrested, or that the robber who was arrested
was a repeat offender. This is interesting because it doesn t have to be one or the other, the reality
is that there is most likely a mix of both happening. This effect was examined by another
researcher who coined the term the tipping effect, and understood that clearance rates only affect
some crime rates and not in others depending on the offense (Bailey n.d.). This means that the
clearance of a crime, which is the closing of an open case, either by arrest, death, etc. could not
always positively impact the crime rate. This is not only a difference in violent crimes and
property crimes because there was a negative association found in property crimes and clearance
rates (Logan, 1975).
This poses four main problems, first the fact that crime rates and clearance rates directly influence
each other. This is a major road block that is preventing the causal effect of the independent variable
on the crime

The Myth Of The Chupacabra
Chupacabra is Spanish for goat sucker . The creature s name derives from stories in Latin
America of several dead goats with puncture wounds in their necks and all the blood drained
from their bodies. Most experts believe the Chupacabra to be a coyote with mange, which is a
skin disease that can cause their hair to fall out and the skin to shrivel. In humans, mange is just
mildly annoying. But it can be fatal in canines. Chupacabras have been described as resembling a
rodent or reptile, with green gray skin and a disgusting odor. Puerto Rican conspiracy theorists
have claimed that the government is covering up the truth of the Chupacabra in order to prevent

There has been a significant increase in new corporate bond issues (and other hybrid securities) that

Ways for retail investors to access corporate bonds have continued to develop.
Regulatory changes to reduce impediments to retail investment in corporate bonds are slowly

Jing says As soon as I get beyond the gate, we run toward each other, all three of us embracing,

Saint Augustine s Life Of Augustine
Saint Augustine
The Life of Augustine
Augustine was born in North Africa in AD 354 in the city of Thagaste. His father, Patricius, was
a pagan and his mother, Monica, a devoted Catholic who relentlessly prayed for her son s
salvation. Saint Augustine of Hippo wrote Confessions between AD 397 and AD 398. He is
regarded as a great theologian, philosopher, and one of most prolific Latin author s of many
works. Augustine was schooled at Tagaste and Madaura and later at Carthage where he became
interested in Latin literature and became a teacher of literature and public speaking. Later in Milan
he converted to Catholicism and was baptized, ordained, and eventually became the Bishop of
Hippo. He is still considered an influential, but very controversial bishop of the Catholic Church
(Smither, 2009).
Confessions of Saint Augustine
Augustine wrote Confessions while he was a bishop at Hippo. The book was written using a
peculiar and very original style. It is a type of conversation from Augustine directed towards God.
The book is a form of autobiography, written in thirteen books that are bound together by the
theme of God s grace and redemption. His own life is testimony to this as God s love is seen in
each stage he went through along his journey back to the truth (Pusey, 2014).
Throughout the entire book Augustine uses philosophical and theological reasoning; he also
includes an exegesis of biblical scripture. In the first nine books are written as an autobiography

The Loss Of His Mother In The Prelude By William Wordsworth
In this essay I hope to uncover the many instances that William Wordsworth inconspicuously places
his mother into The Prelude and to explore the multimodal occurrence of paternal loss throughout
the text. Although both of Wordsworth s parents perished while he was young in years, it seems
that his mother, Ann Wordsworth, was the greatest influencer of his poetic artistry. The loss of Ann
Wordsworth can be said to be a defining point in the young William Wordsworth
s life, and have had
more of an impact on him than the loss of his father. If any of Wordsworth s poetic artistry came
from the influence of the loss of his parents, it was most likely from the anger he felt towards his
mother s desertion of him and his siblings, rather than the guilt that he associated with his father s
death.
Wordsworth is a poet of nature, a poet of morality. Scholar Eugene Stelzig explores this idea more
throughout his article, Wordsworth s bleeding spots: Traumatic memories f the absent father in The
Prelude. Stelzig states that at the same time as being the poet of morality, Wordsworth is also, a
poet of human continuity, of growth and development. (533) Stelzig s word choice relates to The
Prelude as a whole, rather than each book in sections. The main reasoning for the autobiographical
content within the psuedo epic is to transcribe the history of what made William Wordsworth into
the poet that he was and that he is viewed as. This allows the poem to act as a palimpsest. Revision

Bed Room Descriptive Writing
Terrified beyond belief as I fall, i hit the carpet with a soft thud, and turn enough to see you stand
to your mesmerizing full height, laughing. You turn away, and I can practically hear your
footsteps boom as you step to the counter, grab my wallet, and leave, closing the seemingly mile
tall door shut. Alone, in carpet fibers up to my knees, I stay still. You ll come back, right? I
wonder.* PRINCESS!!!! *I shout out, and I wait, as the light slowly fades from the room, and all
that is left to illuminate your bedroom is the light flooding in from a crack in the door to the
bathroom that you absent mindedly left on getting ready to go out. That, and the soft glow of your
laptop, up on your computer desk. You were serious. I was alone.*

The finish is too smooth to attempt a climb up the leg, and I ponder in the darkness for a while.
The chair would also be too difficult, not to mention once i reach the seat being at the mercy of
your ass. But there, in the back, barely visible. A power cord, plugged in a power strip. I race toward
it, and gently climb up the cord, straddling it, and stand up on it, delicately balancing my way to
the towering plug. Luckily, its contour allows many places to grip, and soon I am to the top,
where the cord begins. I shudder as I look at the thing cord disappear overhead into the darkness,
between the wall and the desktop, but I grasp the cord and begin to shimmy up. The cord is thicker
aorund than I am tall, but the rubbery surface allows for ease while climbing. Slowly and slowy I
inch higher, as the floor and power strip disappear into the darkness. Higher and higher I go for
what seems like nearly an hour before, in the darkness, the cord begins to slip. I m in free fall, my
pathetic life flashing before my eyes, dying on the cord of a laptop before I m jolted back to reality.
I slide a few inches down the cord as it stops, and sweaty and panting, I race to the top. I discover
the connector, twice as long as I, had become lodged in the crack behind the desk, and could not
fall to the ground. My meager weight and tugging must have dislodged it. I climb onto the smooth
surface, the room aglow in a soft blue light from the disturbed

Toni Morrison s Sula Essay example
Sula Toni Morrison s Sula is a novel that has a theme about the nature of evil. The story follows
the lives of two black female friends who present differing views on evil. On one hand, we have
society s conventional view of evil represented by the character of Nel and also seen in the Bottom
s disapproval of Sula. The other view of evilis seen through the character of Sula and through her
actions, which conflict with traditional society. The friendship of Sula and Nel is how the author
conveys her message about evil in the relationship. In the relationship the two different conceptions
of evil mix and create an essentially neutral mixture. By looking at Nel s and Sula s friendship and
the two different views of evil that they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Absorbed in this conception of evil her whole life, it is Nel who becomes the embodiment of the
town s moral code when she gets married and is one of them (120), meaning a member of
mainstream society. Instantly, her views become the same with those of the town and she
belonged to the town and all of its ways (120). She is especially offended by Sula s behavior,
because Sula sleeps with her husband. While Nel has used the town s moral code, Sula is in open
defiance of it, and Sula is caught off guard by Nel s possessiveness (119), not really knowing that
marriage...had changed all that (119), referring to their earlier tendency to share the affection of
other people (119). Nel s outrage at Sula s actions is similar to the town s anger at Sula and we see
the personal hurt that Sula s inconsiderate actions have caused. While society s view of evil is
really based on the disapproval of anything that would break down way society works, Sula s view
of evil is based on a different goal and she acts according to a different set of standards. In other
words, Sula was distinctly different (118). Sula had been looking all along for a friend (122) and
that is the goal she is really trying to reach. In sleeping with many men, she is sort of looking for a
release for her misery and...deep sorrow (122). She is trying to find a friend who she can

A Brief Note On The First Time Or Recreational Paddler
For the first time or recreational paddler there is perhaps nothing scarier than having your canoe
or kayak capsize. Sometimes it is caused by the incautious tilting their boat a little further than it is
meant to go, but very often it is caused be a force beyond your control. Waves or wake caused by
wind, swell, or boats very often lead to a capsized boat and possibly a paddler in distress. There are
a few techniques to help prevent this so you can enjoy your day on the water. Boat position or
angle is a very important factor in whether you will be knocked over or the wake will roll passed
you. When a wake is approaching you or you are entering a set of waves the appropriate position
for you boat is to be perpendicular with the them,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a canoe you have the ability to lower your center of gravity by dropping from your seat and
kneeling on the floor. These techniques will help your paddling abilities and give you an
enjoyable experience on the water rather than a terrifying one. It is also important to plan ahead
and be cautious of where you travel to avoid large waves and wake all together. Make sure to get a
weather report. As a novice paddler it is also important to avoid heavily trafficked boat channels.
On windy days paddle in sheltered coves and creeks, and always where a life jacket.
It s amazing to think that what started as a functional and vital form of transportation, is today one
of the world s most popular water sports and an Olympic activity. But that s exactly how canoeing
and kayaking has evolved. Ms that a canoe in your pocket or are you simply pleased to see me?
No, it s a kayak... . Many people are confused by the difference between a canoe and kayak. In
simple terms, a kayak has a closed deck (apart from the hole you sit in) and is powered using a
double bladed paddle. A canoe, on the other hand, is an open boat in which you can either stand
up or kneel, and is powered using a single bladed paddle. Many people use the term canoeing to
describe the general sport, not to define what type of boat is used, so that s what we ll do here.
Canoeing s popularity is probably due to the huge range of activities available within the sport. It
caters for

The Role Of B C Kitchen
Like all successful businesses, a well constructed team of members must have a plan on how it
should operate. Running a business takes time, dedication, effort, and commitment. Each member
takes on the challenge of completing different tasks, but in the end, they all come together as a
whole to run the business. Just like B C Kitchen, each member takes on a fundamental role behind
the scenes to ensure the success and liveliness of the restaurant. In any restaurant setting, the magic
begins in the kitchen. The kitchen is home to all the action packed cooking, frying, and the slicing
and chopping of ingredients. The leader, the commander in chief, and the boss, my father Jeffrey

Due to the inviting aroma that surrounds the entirety of the restaurant, B C Kitchen has become a

quality, my mother Katie Ho s position plays a significant part in the business. With her most
enticing presence, her prime responsibilities consist of serving and tending to customers needs
while still overseeing the entire front of the restaurant. As much as she already does, she also
manages to complete all the bookkeeping chores. Considering all of the numerous tasks my
mother has to juggle on a daily basis, her role of taking charge as manager and the head waitress
is clearly irreplaceable. Even though my parents and aunt have already constructed a full and

team, I commonly work in the front as a waitress and in the kitchen with the responsibility of
clean up. Given that I m able to assist both the customers and the team behind the scene that runs it

glamorous, but I d like to think I provide as much as the rest of my family does. In essence, my

Federal Courts Case Study
In this week chapter, we learn more about Federal Courts which deals with caseloads and case
filings. Also, there are a lot of aspects that are involves in case filings in U.S Courts such as civil,
criminal, prisoner petitions, and minor criminal. Furthermore, the rule of four has been a major
factor when choosing which cases to review every year. And, I believe if we want to reduce the
amounts of federal caseloads we need to adapt to a similar approach like the one specialized
federal courts use when deciding which cases to hear. According to Neubauer Meinhold (1991),
These courts are called specialized federal court because they are authorized to hear only a limited
range of cases (p. 64). The three ways that the federal court caseloads

Bilingual Education Essay examples
Bilingual Education Our school systems play host to dozens of languages in addition to the
standard fare of English. Starting in the late 1960s, partially as a swing off the Civil Rights
Movement, school systems were required by law to provide bilingual education anytime twenty or
more children spoke the same foreign language, and were found to be limited in their English
proficiency. At first, the need for such programs was small, but over time it has been steadily
increasing until now where the need has reached what many consider to be massive. In recent years,
the population of the United States has exploded with many non English speaking students, making
the need for bilingual educationmore urgent. Although this amount is... Show more content on

In Richard Rodriguez s essay entitled ARIA, he explains What I needed to learn in school was that
I had the right and the obligation to speak the public language of los gringos. (Rodriguez 531)
When comfortable that they have the right to learn another language, students gain the positive
attitude, as well as the self esteem that is so badly needed to succeed.
Another unexpected source of support comes from Deborah Tannen in her essay entitled
Conversational Styles. Americans are often proud that they discount the significance of cultural
differences: We are all individuals, many people boast. Ignoring such issues as gender, and
ethnicity becomes a source of pride: I treat everyone the same. But treating people the same is not
equal treatment if they are not the same. (Tannen 549) By discounting the cultural differences such
as language, students are not being treated as equals, as they are not being allowed to learn
English. A perfect example of this is shown every day in the classroom when children slip into
their desks, and pull out their English books.
Also, how much the student perceives the need of the new language can have a great impact on
how willing they are to learn it. In terms of his own advancement in perhaps obtaining a job where
it may be necessary to know English, or meeting some other goal, which is

My World Issues Class Analysis
Throughout the course of my World Issues class, numerous themes and concepts were explored
spanning across entire time periods and geographical locations. The first exercise completed in class
was a visual representation of the connections between all themes categorized under the umbrella
term: world issues. This included diversity, economic disparity, environmental issues, global health,
nutrition/food security, accessibility, human rights, peace/war, media, education, and identity. Each
of us found connection between every one of these themes; they are simultaneously independent
and interconnected a change in any sector can affect all of the others. One major connection I found
in the course was the concept of citizens clinging to social status quo and the resulting political
/interpersonal violence due to that close minded rejection of difference. For example, violent acts
by Buddhist monks in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these issues can be boiled down go a couple major themes that of power politics, identity
politics, religious differences, and how all of these themes are affected through the lense of the
media. One key example we talked about was the relationship between Buddhists from Thailand.
The deeply rooted history of Buddhism in Thailand can be linked with the political struggles
between that of communism and capitalism. Certain Buddhist monks like Phra Kittiwut Tho argue
that the murder of communists would not violate any of the nonviolent ideologies of Buddhism.
This has an interesting link with the historical perception of Christianity in the 1100 s around the
first crusade when The Pope argued that war and killing were acceptable under theological terms if
it was against non christian people. The conflict in Thailand demonstrates to me that, even though
religion and politics might be somewhat separated, there is an inherent link when pushed hard

Proposed title revision: Utilizing 3 NBA as an internal standard to improve an official AOAC
method to derive a simple and sensitive quantification protocol for trace level detection of patulin

The Abstract is also presented in a coherent manner. It summarizes the objective and the main
results (LOD, LOQ, R2 values). It also highlights the advantage of the internal standard used as well
as going into detail about the simplified sample preparation and the efficient liquid extraction step,
which all contribute to the method s development.
The Abstract and Introduction are well structured, and both state the objective of the research in
enough detail (Strength). However, the title does not adequately state the same objective, and thus
it needs a revision (Weakness).

Reflection About Reading
You have to read 10 hours this week said my first grade teacher. In elementary school reading
logs were what all the teachers made us do. Every week I had to read a certain amount of hours.
I however, never read the amount of hours I was supposed too. I would just fill out the log and
tell my mom to sign it. At that time it sounded like a good idea but then came freshman year.
Mrs. Daugherty changed my whole perspective on reading and how important it is to read. In
elementary school reading never came easy too me. My mom would always say The more you
read, the better you ll be. but I never listened to her. Books were just not interesting to me. We
would have bookfairs in our school library and I would always ask my grandma to come and buy
me a bunch of books, but in reality I never even read the books that she bought me. I would
wonder around the library looking for the perfect book then once I thought I found one, I would
read one chapter then be done with it. Most of the time the books would just sit in my room until I
got a letter from the librariansaying that the book was past due. Then when I went to return a
book, the librarian would always ask How did you like the book? and I would reply It was great I
really enjoyed it! , even though I had never even finished the book. In Mrs. Daugherty s freshman
college prep English class reading was what the majority of the class consisted of. We were always
reading passages and would have to answer questions about

Petrified Wood
2. Background on the mineralogical composition of petrified woods
A diverse suite of minerals and phases have been found in petrified woods from all over the world.
The common species found range from pure opal to pure quartz whereas others include calcite,
dolomite, pyrite, goethite, phosphates (apatite), laumontite, uraninite, sphalerite and organics
(Nowak et al., 2005). In coal deposits inundated by sea water (Yossifova et al., 2011), the woods
can be permineralized by quartz, plagioclase, muscovite, smectite, kaolinite and nacrite (a typical
hydrothermal mineral).
Cross polarized light shows that opal CT has very low interference colours, in contrast to the
brighter colours typical of chalcedony (Mustoe, 2008). However, polarizing microscope images
alone cannot resolve the degree of crystallinity of phases. For this, XRD and Raman microscopy
are required to clearly identify chalcedony, moganite, orthorhombic silica, opal CT, opal C and
quartz (HatipoДџlu and TГјrk, 2009). It is not easy to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

cell walls, where they are enclosed within colourless chalcedony that later permineralized the cell
lumina (Mustoe, 2008). The observed alternating crystallization of quartz and chalcedony may be
caused by variations in the degree of silica saturation of the mineral forming SiO bearing fluids.
These results confirm the earlier conclusions of Heaney and Davis (1995) and Götze et al. (1998)
who showed that the agate structure can probably be interpreted as an alternating formation of fine
grained, highly defective chalcedony intergrown with moganite, and coarse grained low defect

  • 2. Pro Choice Vs. Abortion Introduction Pro Choice is an opposing position against the pro life that completely and clearly advocates that every women in the world has equal rights of having abortion and there will no legal or religious restriction against electing an abortion in routine life. Many of social religious, civil and national federations raised a slogan against abortionand in the support of this opposition all of these communities and people also run Pro life movement, United States. This movement opposes Pro choice and many people considered in early days that abortion is an illegal phenomenon, while the religious communities strongly believed this would be an evil and would also cause of God s anger. When USA Supreme Court in 1973 announced its final decision in case of Roe v. Wadeabout the right of having an abortion, then most of country laws and legislations were stuck down in many of American States. After this, it was declared that would be no legal penalty to a woman for having an elective abortion after having a sex (Kerns,....... Steinauer, 2012). Discussion Pro choice is just for advocacy and supporting the women s rights to have abortion whenever they want. This part of assignment will illustrate some of reasons, facts, statistics and ethical arguments about the right of women to have an elective abortion according to situations and their physical conditions. 1) Reasons of Pro Choice As there are sound reasons of pro life in health industry, so there are also strong ... Kendrick uses detailed stories to recreate a picture of her childhood, including memories of sleepovers, school bullies , and bus trips to New York. Bill O Reilly uses humor and wordplay to engage the reader. My favorite phrase from his memoir was even though he is eternally young, Peter Pan was getting kind of old he said this when he was talking about finally getting to watch something other than a disney movie. He tells everything with no details left out. O Reilly used imagery when describing the time he finally gave the annoying woman what she deserved, he wrote, The child, distraught and panic stricken, then dropped the sundae, and all that extra hot fudge hit the steamy, sticky pavement, immediately finding a comfortable home. 3 Tom Brokaw Games an excerpt from A Long Way from Home: Growing Up in the American Heartland by Tom Brokaw uses memories of growing up in a small town in the midwest to share his experiences with the world. He uses memories such as chasing foul balls at baseball games to turn them in for a dime a piece and playing basketball with a rolled up sock to connect and relate to the reader. Brokaw talks about lasting friendships that were made with the boys in his town such as Johnny Strutz never actually played baseball with them but was the decision maker when the teams were bickering. • 6. Personal Publishing Is Broken, By Michael P. Taylor Academic publishing is something that many people will experience at some point, either in school or at their job, and some of whom are being paid to publish in academic journals. When published in academic journals, to read the papers, those interested would need to buy an expensive subscription and annually renew it. However, this is starting to take a toll on many universities and researchers around the world because they do not have the past research that others performed to base their future research on. Michael P. Taylor s Opinion: Academic Publishing is Broken, addresses the fact that many people do not have access to academic literature, due to the high cost of purchasing subscriptions for the academic journals, and that is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taylor is a research associate in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol. To make an impact in the scientific community, a scientist must publish their research in academic journals, specifically journals for certain areas of science. Taylor has published many papers about the structure of dinosaurs bodies and the evolution of dinosaurs in both open access journals and academic journals ( Michael P Taylor ). This shows that Taylor himself had to experience the process of publishing papers, both in academic journals and open access journals, and going through other academic journals to create ideas for new scientific discoveries. Therefore, he understands both the research side and the side of the ordinary citizens who want to read scientific papers. This impacts the audience by making them understand that Taylor is a credible person to be writing an article on this topic, strengthening his argument. Additionally, Taylor shows that he is a credible source for the discussion of open access publishing through being knowledgeable about the topic by using statistics and doing his own research to strengthen his argument. Taylor begins his article by explaining that the money that comes from the taxations of the taxpayers goes to the government to be reallocated into the government funded research. Then, the researchers release their information by publishing it in academic journals, using the government s money. Next, by defining open ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But not only did OSHA begin collecting records of the employees, but in OSHA Updates Guide on Training Requirements by Professional Safety, OSHA supplies workers with news occurring to fellow members of the country wide workforce, and in this case is an injury pertaining to Harco and his personal negligence and misunderstanding of faulty hardware in order to prevent similar injuries and to analyze the faults and fabricate new directions to have a safer time when in the workplace (Professional Safety). With the increasing costs, both financial and ecological, of fossil fuels, fuel efficiency in vehicles has become an increasingly important factor. Vehicle manufacturers and designers are exploring alternative fuels, with electric, hybrid and hydrogen powered vehicles being looked at as viable alternatives. Solar power has been somewhat overlooked but has the ability to become widely used because it is both clean and economical. The advantages over fossil fuels are obvious: Solar power is renewable, cannot be exhausted and doesn t cause pollution. Fossil fuels are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. Battery packs are still heavy, bulky and expensive but the costs of solar power are coming down while the cost of gasoline keeps going up. A number of different vehicles from sports cars to vans to golf carts have had solar panels added to flat surfaces, primarily their roofs. Some of the vehicles are ordinary cars which have been modified for solar; others are highly futuristic. The picture below is a good example of a futuristic design. The vehicle, called car on a stick was designed to be used as a streetlight when not being driven, which accounts for the one sitting at a higher elevation in the picture, as opposed to the one on the ground. It would also save on parking. Of course, this design is only an idea at this point, but it gives some interesting possibilities for vehicles (and cities) of the future. In order for PVCs to become more practical, engineers will have to increase their efficiency. Current cells have an average efficiency of about 20% (Perch 2013). The Courage to Differ Essay example Life has many instances in which one must choose whether to stand apart from the group and disagree with his peers or to nod vehemently in agreement and quickly seek security as a part of the group. Many choose to follow the crowd because of the fear of rejection. Others painfully watch the car drive over the horizon and reassure themselves continually that it was worth it to stay behind. The Impact Of Multi-Ethnicity On Queer Identity The Impact of Multi Ethnicity on Queer Identity During the interview, Hans pointed out that his multi ethnic background has a big impact on his identity formation and his current lifestyle. In particular, he stressed on the psychological trauma of the doubt, that it would be impossible for him to know for certain if discriminationhas prevented him from access to tangible opportunities or benefits: there is looming sense of did I not get this because of my lack of skill or talent or is it because of my sexual identity and race? I think the doubt is even more pervasive and detrimental than any one instance of explicit discrimination. He stated that this doubt is ever present, and he often feels helpless about it, because racismand heterosexism is built in most of the societies and cultures, and most of systemic prejudice derives from actions and ideologies that are covert and oblique. Prejudice is dark, and idiotic, and frustrating, and pure negativity... LITERATURE REVIEW Estimates reported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD,1997) suggest that several countries have experienced very rapid growth of the private sector during the transition period. A number of studies have suggested that investment and growth in developing economies is positively associated with indicators of openness and export promotion (Balasubramanyam et al., 1996). Such findings may suggest that investors prefer countries with relatively liberal trade regimes and few constraints on profit repatriation, possibly within regions with wider supra national free trade arrangements. De Mello (2000) analyzed the time series and panel data for 32 OECD and non OECD countries for the period 1970 90. He estimated the impact of FDI on capital accumulation and output growth in the recipient economy supporting the FDI led growth hypothesis. Similarly, Soto (2000); Alfaro, Chanda, Kalelmi Ozcan, Sayek (2004); Li and Liu (2005) found positive impact of FDI on GDP growth. They all used FDI measure as percentage of GDP. Liu et al. Burmese Pythons And Their Effect On Native Species BURMESE PYTHONS Stephanie Diaz Tuesday, June 21, 2016 Dr. Marguerite Koch Principles of Ecology Introduction Burmese Pythons and their effect on native species in the Everglades Burmese Pythons is a non native pest in the United States of America, which originated from South Asia. The species is becoming an established breeding population in South Florida and its environs. The python was illegally freed in the Everglades National park where the marshy grasses and water provide a conducive environment for its survival. Burmese python was recognized as a reproducing population around the year 2000. The python has been classified as an invasive species in Florida. The species has disrupted the ecosystem by preying on native species and out competing them for food. The python is a successful invasive species because their large size makes it have fewer predators (alligators and humans) (Brown, 2006). Efforts have been put in place to manage the increase of the Burmese pythons due to the devastating effects it has caused in the ecosystem. Python removal and control is being done through dogs and human search. Dog search has recorded much greater success than human beings because humans cannot access some areas due to the thick vegetation. The origin of Burmese python can be attributed to the regions of South East Asia including Burma,Thailand, China, and the regions of Archipelago. When differentiating the actions taken by the boys to the political theories of French Enlightenment thinker Baron de Montesquieu, the most noteworthy difference is the boys unsuccessful attempt in implementing a system of checks and balances that could ve prevented Jack from leading their society into devastation. The first studied found there was a strong correlation between the rate at which someone is arrested for an offense and the rate of the same offense (Tittle and Rowe, 1974). This was mostly seen in robberies, when a robber was arrested the rate of robberies would slightly decrease. This poses two reason of the decrease, either the other people who frequently rob people do it less frequently because they are frightened to also be arrested, or that the robber who was arrested was a repeat offender. This is interesting because it doesn t have to be one or the other, the reality is that there is most likely a mix of both happening. This effect was examined by another researcher who coined the term the tipping effect, and understood that clearance rates only affect some crime rates and not in others depending on the offense (Bailey n.d.). This means that the clearance of a crime, which is the closing of an open case, either by arrest, death, etc. could not always positively impact the crime rate. This is not only a difference in violent crimes and property crimes because there was a negative association found in property crimes and clearance rates (Logan, 1975). This poses four main problems, first the fact that crime rates and clearance rates directly influence each other. This is a major road block that is preventing the causal effect of the independent variable on the crime ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While we saw Jing change her opinion about her mother, and saw her start to embrace her heritage, there is one thing that remains unchanged: her being afraid to confront her sisters. As the plane lands and Jing steps on to the runway, she starts thinking negatively about the inevitable confrontation. She states I am so nervous I cannot even feel my feet. I am just moving somehow (Tan 135). The thought of having to meet her sisters without her mother is paralyzing until the very end. However, Jing does not get the reunion she expects. When Jing sees her sisters for the first time, the three of them run and hug each other without questions. Jing says As soon as I get beyond the gate, we run toward each other, all three of us embracing, all hesitations and expectations forgotten (Tan 135). This meeting and feeling of unconditional love, is what brings about Jing s biggest change: acceptance of her heritage. After the sisters met and cried a bit, Jing accepted who she is. His father, Patricius, was a pagan and his mother, Monica, a devoted Catholic who relentlessly prayed for her son s salvation. Saint Augustine of Hippo wrote Confessions between AD 397 and AD 398. He is regarded as a great theologian, philosopher, and one of most prolific Latin author s of many works. Augustine was schooled at Tagaste and Madaura and later at Carthage where he became interested in Latin literature and became a teacher of literature and public speaking. Later in Milan he converted to Catholicism and was baptized, ordained, and eventually became the Bishop of Hippo. He is still considered an influential, but very controversial bishop of the Catholic Church (Smither, 2009). Confessions of Saint Augustine Augustine wrote Confessions while he was a bishop at Hippo. The book was written using a peculiar and very original style. It is a type of conversation from Augustine directed towards God. The book is a form of autobiography, written in thirteen books that are bound together by the theme of God s grace and redemption. His own life is testimony to this as God s love is seen in each stage he went through along his journey back to the truth (Pusey, 2014). Throughout the entire book Augustine uses philosophical and theological reasoning; he also includes an exegesis of biblical scripture. In Collins proposal, he speaks of his patroness, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, whom he relies on very heavily for advice. She says that marriage is for [her] sake; and for [Collins], showing the selfish intentions behind Collins proposal. His self interested goals of marrying Bennet are insincere and not as persuasive, making her less likely to empathize with Collins and accept his proposal. • 41. The Loss Of His Mother In The Prelude By William Wordsworth In this essay I hope to uncover the many instances that William Wordsworth inconspicuously places his mother into The Prelude and to explore the multimodal occurrence of paternal loss throughout the text. Although both of Wordsworth s parents perished while he was young in years, it seems that his mother, Ann Wordsworth, was the greatest influencer of his poetic artistry. The loss of Ann Wordsworth can be said to be a defining point in the young William Wordsworth s life, and have had more of an impact on him than the loss of his father. If any of Wordsworth s poetic artistry came from the influence of the loss of his parents, it was most likely from the anger he felt towards his mother s desertion of him and his siblings, rather than the guilt that he associated with his father s death. Wordsworth is a poet of nature, a poet of morality. Scholar Eugene Stelzig explores this idea more throughout his article, Wordsworth s bleeding spots: Traumatic memories f the absent father in The Prelude. Stelzig states that at the same time as being the poet of morality, Wordsworth is also, a poet of human continuity, of growth and development. (533) Stelzig s word choice relates to The Prelude as a whole, rather than each book in sections. The main reasoning for the autobiographical content within the psuedo epic is to transcribe the history of what made William Wordsworth into the poet that he was and that he is viewed as. This allows the poem to act as a palimpsest. Revision after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The common species found range from pure opal to pure quartz whereas others include calcite, dolomite, pyrite, goethite, phosphates (apatite), laumontite, uraninite, sphalerite and organics (Nowak et al., 2005). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Organic constituents of cell walls have a strong affinity for silicic acid molecules (Leo Barghoorn, 1976). Opal mineralized woods have densities ) are attached to the interior surfaces of cell walls, where they are enclosed within colourless chalcedony that later permineralized the cell lumina (Mustoe, 2008). The observed alternating crystallization of quartz and chalcedony may be caused by variations in the degree of silica saturation of the mineral forming SiO bearing fluids. These results confirm the earlier conclusions of Heaney and Davis (1995) and Götze et al. (1998) who showed that the agate structure can probably be interpreted as an alternating formation of fine grained, highly defective chalcedony intergrown with moganite, and coarse grained low defect quartz (Götze et al., ...
