Why I Need Literature Analysis
I can admit whole heartedly that Literature has saved my life.
Looking back, I have chosen literature over a lot of things, sometimes it was my family and friends
whose views on education differed greatly from my own, but most often I was choosing literature over
temptation; which, seductively presented itself all over the extremely urban streets of south central
L.A. Temptation is the reason many of my old friends are in jail now and why I am the only member
in my family to have graduated from high school. It has taken many people away from me, my friends
and family who have turned to drugs to numb the woes of their inherit circumstances and even my
father who is still in jail, that I have yet to and may never meet.
Literature offered me companionship and a place to be understood. It was sanctuary, my nurturer. I
was introduced to James Baldwin, Langston ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, as the president of the literature club I am changing people s attitudes towards reading and
writing and cultivating a community of readers and writers on campus. Through the club I am able to
act as an instructor on many different genres and styles of literature. There I most often choose pieces
of literature that would allow members to analyze another era of time and understand the struggles of
that time through the literature; as well as, other forms of literature like movie scripts, music lyrics,
and comic books to promote the diversity of literature in its many contemporary forms. Through
events like book drives and poetry slams we are able to reach out to people, who aren t even
necessarily English majors, and watch as literature enhances their lives as they voice their angst with
society through their poetry. The workshops I ran on poetry and creative writing as a means of self
expression allowed me to analyze many peoples work while improving my poetry just by teaching

Analysis of the Free-Throw Shot
Analysis of the Free Throw Shot
When deciding about a movement to study, I thought about many, and very few interested me. Then I
decided to choose something that was very important to me.
Shooting the basketball, and more specifically the technique in performing a free throw. I thought by
looking more closely at the details of a movement I have been doing since a small child. I thought
possibly I could learn something that would give me an advantage in my shot. The application of this
particular movement is for shooting a free throw, which is a stand still uncontested shot. There are a
few rules that go with shooting a free throw, such as you have to be behind the fifteen foot line, called
the free throw line, and you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is where you want to focus on the rim and extend at the elbow, and extending at the wrist. Now to
talk about what all this really means and how you get the ball from your hand to the rim. When we do
it, we consider it to be very simple, but it is actually a very complex movement, involving many
different muscles. Many muscles are involved, some more than others. I will first talk about the ones
used the least. The shoulder girdle involves muscles that are key to the movement, but are mostly used
in stabilization of the shoulder. The Trapezius and the Rhomboid muscles are stabilizers of the
shoulder along with the rotator cuff muscles including the Supraspinatis, Infraspinatis, Teres Minor,
and Subscapularis which provide dynamic stability of the shoulder. All these muscles are key, but are
not involved much in the actual movement. The Serratus Anterior is commonly used in movements
drawing the scapula forward with slight upward rotation, and would be used in shooting the basketball
and works in conjunction with Pectoralis Minor. Now we will get into some of the muscles actually
doing the work when shooting the free throw. The Deltoid, which is one of the most important
muscles involved in any shoulder movement is responsible for the movement of the Humerus. Any
movement of the Humerus will involve the Deltoid. The Coracobrachialis assist in flexion of the
shoulder. Other muscles involved in the cocking phase of

Proposal on Energy Audit
Proposal Energy Audit: An energy audit is an inspection, survey and analysis of energy, flows for
energy conservation in a building, process or system to reduce the amount of energy input into the
system without negatively affecting the output(s). Energy audit identifies opportunities for financial
savings by elimination of wasteful use of electricity, coal and fuel oil, without affecting the process or
quality of product. Need for Energy Audit: It has been established that Energy savings of the order of
5 to 20% are possible by optimizing use of Energy with better house keeping, low cost retrofitting

It is this first phase where you, the facility manager, can watch the work of the energy auditor to make
sure he does not miss any equipment and allocates the equipment to their right meters. Phase II: Data
Analysis The second phase expected of an energy audit is an analysis of the data obtained at the
facility. Here the auditor leaves the facility and returns to his place of business to use his skills and
computer programs to analyze the data collected. When he/she has analyzed your existing equipment s
operation, it should match the demand and energy consumption on the electric bills. The analysis
should show a breakdown of the percent of demand and energy used by various types of equipment
such as air conditioning, heating, lighting, motors, etc. It should bench mark the facility s energy use
index to similar facilities. Phase III: Recommend Energy Conservation with Cost Effective The third
phase of an energy audit is to recommend energy conservation measures in equipment and operations.
This would include replacing inefficient with high efficiency lighting, air conditioning, and motors,
adding window tint to south and west facing windows, installing motion sensors, and purchasing there
energy saving devices. Each item would have a cost and an annual savings associated with it so as to
calculate a payback period and rate of return percent. They should be graphed to show individual as

My Poetry By Martha Nell Analysis
The humanities are very crucial in human existence and their characteristic. It is not luxury as smith
Martha Nell arguing in this article; however, it is a way to understand and learn more about human
conditions. It is the quality of the light in which we see our dreams, hope, wishes, and fears toward
changes that first made to language then idea finally action (51). My Poetry said Smith includes;
music, history, art, philosophy, dance, theater and overall humanities (48). Poetry is a way to give
name to nameless things then we will be able to think critically (48). Many politicians by advertising
they want us to move with metaphors; however, they fix our language in which being taking away

situation they use a misleading metaphor, which stop most people from thinking straight specially
about the state of the humanities and he emphasize the humanities are not in crisis (51). Therefore,
Smith argued that this fact need to be certified and he emphasized that humanities are not in crisis

are in humanity. First he said to disregard any false story about cost and pay in humanity (53). Next,
He recommended knowing the value of humanities and advocate that constantly is very important for

Cyber Security, By Mark Rasch
The ISSA conference was very enlightening and interesting. Mark Rasch introduced cyber security to
us from a very different perspective that I haven t had anyone explore before. To some extent it clears
and clarifies some of the decisions that have been taken resulting in the many different cases that I
have read in the news regarding cyber security. The closest example that comes to mind is the
Snowden case in regards to privacy and security laws.
In addition to that, I concur with Mark regarding the laws that are stated that in terms of privacy are
not as transparent and certain loopholes change the way these laws can have effect upon an individual,
organization or an employee. As per what I understood from his initial remarks about lawmaking from
his early work experience.
The scenarios that Mark jumped into, being that conference a room of senior officials who have all the
authority and power that they need to take certain kinds of decisions that will change things beyond
our borders. It was an on the spot exercise that actually made me think harder and allowed me to grasp
better the basic knowledge and understanding of cyber security that I have gained throughout this
semester.
I have been recommended to read Sun Tzu s Art of War as it not only covers strategic aspects of only
war but the main analogy of it could be applied to an individual s way of living and how he/she deals

The Golden State
California, nicknamed the Golden State, has attracted many an immigrant through the years. From the
migrations of peoples thousands of years ago that led to the establishment of the many Native
American tribes that populated the land, to the Spanish and Americans in later centuries, one wonders
what attracted all to the farthest frontier, the unsettled west coast. That is until you delve deeper into
what the land had to offer as an economic source. The year 1769 saw Gaspar de Portola and Father
Saint Junípero Serra leading the first permanent European settlers to California. Before the end of the
century, missions were established along the coast and towns were established, especially Los Angeles
in 1781. The establishment of missions and towns began economic growth based on agricultural
production and Native American labor that would soon lead to cities, ranches and local owners under
Mexican occupation taking the same advantage to produce locally until the United States brought a
wave of new settlement and industrial ideas that would sweep local trade and production into a new
era of transcontinental economic growth, transportation and financial gains.
In 1542, Juan Cabrillo made his way up what the coast of what the Spanish called Alta California from
the newly conquered Spanish province of Mexico in search of gold, but he only found Native
Americans living on land that consisted of thousands of square miles of fertile valleys, high
mountains, freshwater lakes, and

What it Takes for a Site to be Inscribe on the UNESCO...
The process required for a site to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List is long and
complicated. It has four main steps, each of which are a process in themselves: placement on a
tentative list, submission of a nomination file, evaluation by an Advisory Body, and a final decision by
the World Heritage Committee. The entire process usually takes about a year and a half, but can vary
depending of the time taken for each step (World Heritage Ireland, 2010). In order to submit sites to
the World Heritage List, a country must first sign the World Heritage Convention, thereby committing
to protecting their natural and culture heritage. After that, the State Party, in Ireland s case, the

The State Party should include both a management history of and a history of the culture surrounding
the site in order to help establish its authenticity, integrity, and how it fits the selection criteria. The
definitions of authenticity and integrity that UNESCO uses are in the Nara Document on Authenticity
(World Heritage Ireland, 2010). The State Party can demonstrate the authenticity and integrity by
listing and defending any and all works completed on the site, whether for conservation, restoration,
or adaptation (World Heritage Ireland, 2010). This history of works is important, because if a site has
been reconstructed so many times that barely an of the original survives, the site may no longer have
authenticity. The history of the site itself and the surrounding culture is also important, because it
helps to demonstrate the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) of the site, as well as how it might fit
the criteria as a unique or exceptional example of cultural traditions, civilizations living or dead, or
any of the other ten criteria. The nomination file also has to contain a management plan to insure the
OUV, authenticity, and integrity of the site are maintained for future generations. The management
plan can be one of the most difficult aspects of the nomination file, because it requires so much
cooperation between all of the owners of the site, stakeholders in the

The Is My Real Life Story Of Bias At Uc Davis
This is my real life story of bias at UC Davis...
Today I had an appointment with my upper division writing professor, Dr. Emily Foss. I met with her
to review my coursework, and to address some concerns. The first part of the 20 minute meeting went
fairly well. She had not taken the time to collect collect some early writing steps from us, not were we
required to upload these steps online. There was also ambiguity about the due date of our last paper.
All of those things were ironed out in fairly short order.
The discussion then turned to my most recent paper, a paper that required two, distinct perspectives of
a community based on in group (first essay) and out group (second essay) membership. I wrote my
first paper about my experiences growing as a Black, gay male, and the feeling of not belonging of
any community. The second was an academic perspective, taken from a sociological approach about
gay persons of color (intersectional identities).
On this particular paper, I received an 80% (under the University of California system that is a B
minus) and based on the quality of the paper, I couldn t understand why. Getting feedback in this
course has not been the easiest. Dr. Foss made it clear early in the quarter that she will not read our
papers in advance. Instead, she will skim our papers, perhaps read a few sentences or a single
paragraph, and then offer general advice. As students, we are ultimately left with the information we
are given in class, which is often

I have been immensely helped by many people, and especially by Deborah Bronnert of the
Department of the Environment, to whom I am particularly grateful. But shortcomings or mistakes in
this Report are my fault alone. Some recommendations are radical. The participants in the construction
process can react in three ways to them. They can refuse to have anything to do with the Report. That
would be a pity. The problems would remain, but the goodwill to tackle them, which has been growing
dramatically over the last twelve months, would be lost. They can pick out the sections which suit
them and reject the rest. If everyone does that, nothing will happen. Or, hopefully, they can try to
make the package work, through the implementation structures which the Report recommends. They
can set about Constructing the Team. The time to choose has arrived. The construction process cannot

My Point Of View Of Franchising Essay
TASK ONE According to my point of view, franchising is simply a technique for extending a business
and distributing goods and services through a permitting relationship. It is a type of business that is
owned and operated by franchisees but that is branded and overseen by a usually national or
multinational company. Franchise is a business that you see in different cities. They are recognizable
because their company logo and products are same. A franchise is a type of business that is the same

master franchise. Master franchise is a franchising contract in which the master franchiser hands over
the control of the franchising activities in a specified territory to a person. Single product or service
operations In simple words two or more company operated by single hand is called single products or
service operations. Manufacturing and whole sale Manufacturing and Retail industry is subject to

Economic And Monetary Union Of The European Union
Introduction: Since the enlightenment, Europeans have called for a stable and united Europe. Even
though there have been many setbacks to a united Europe, including WWI, WWII, and the Cold War,
the realization of a united Europe became a reality with the signing of the Maastricht Treaty in 1992
creating the European Union (EU). Furthermore, the progression towards a fully united Europe took
another step with the introduction of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union
(EMU), which introduced a common currency, the euro (Bordo). Both of these institutions have had
an immensely positive impact on Europe, both socially and economically. Today, the European Union
is considered the world s largest economy, or second largest, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This change, that would overcome the inherent economic flaws of the EU and EMU, is the adoption of
a European Fiscal Union (EFU). The implementation of the EFU will prevent the issues that are
occurring today in Europe, and ensure economic stability; thus, it will save Europe from failing.
The Flaws of the European Monetary Union and European Union: Even with the limitations inherent
to the EMU and EU, they have provided great economic gains. Since the establishment of the EMU
and EU, trade costs have decreased between member nations, and have given Europe the ability to
compete economically with the United States, China, and other global economic superpowers
(Feldstein). However, there are four major problems that the EMU and EU cannot currently address:
(1) irresponsible government expenditure, (2) stabilizing economic shocks, (3) coordinating economic
policy between nations, and (4) addressing debt crises.
[1] Irresponsible Government Expenditure: A major issue faced by the nations in the EMU and EU is
irresponsible government expenditure. This issue grew rapidly due to the low interest rates offered to
members of the EMU after its creation. At the time, creditors believed that nations involved would
either be protected from default by member nations, or become more fiscally responsible as a result of
becoming a member (Feldstein). However, this did not stop countries like

Under the control of Hitler from 1918 1939 Poland was under serious attack. Concentration camps
were being constructed and Poles were possible targets because, at the time, Poland was home to the
worlds largest Jewish population (Polish Diaspora). In 1939 Poland was invaded by Germany and was
put under the Soviet Union s control. One cultural aspect Poles like to exercises is their right to
freedom and to be different, but under the rule of the USSR it was very hard to express ones
individuality and religion. Communism called for unionism and the Poles disliked this way of life.
This lack of personal freedom handicapped the Polish culture, not allowing it to grow because many
Poles were not known as wealthy. Because Poland was lacking in artistic culture Paris became their
center for literacy and artistic expression (Barnett, 374). Many feared for their lives around this time
and fled to America in the 20 s, allowing for the spread of Polish values over seas. This is the main
cause of the Polish diaspora because many of the Poles immigrating to America were Jewish (Polish

the government would catch them and punish them like they were to the Jewish Poles(Black, 47). It

birthday party
Birthday Party by Katherine Brush uses literary devices such as tone, point of view, diction, and
sensory details to achieve her purpose. The title of this short story is very deceiving the tone is
different from the tone of the story. The tone changes from happy to sad as soon as the cake is brought
out. The women tried to show affection and love towards her husband by the cake but it was basically
turned down. The point of view is through a random person who doesn t know the couple at all. The
speaker doesn t know how they are as a couple but can see that the woman is upset at her husband s

People in the restaurant give a polite and almost desperate applause, but the husband is hotly
embarrassed (line twelve about his wife s little surprise . In the final paragraph, Brush clearly reveals
her sentiments about the husband s response, coloring him as cruel and unkind (line eighteen). The
line You looked at him and you saw this and you thought, Oh, now don t be like that! and the author s
italicization of the word be implies a certain amount of disgust for a husband who is trying to crush his
wife s jovial spirit. With a spit of contempt, Brush adds that he was like that (line fifteen), intensifying
her anger and disapprobation of his meanness. Brush supplies a list of words to describe what the
husband muttered to his wife as some punishing thing, quick and curt and unkind (line eighteen). The
lengthened syntax in this sentence has the feel of the husband s criticism of his wife for essentially
being sweet to him. He comes off as a nasty man too concerned with his macho, stoical reputation to
take a moment to be nice to his wife and thank her for remembering his birthday. Birthday Party is an
ironic story with an ironic title. What this husband and wife experience is certainly no party, but
merely another miserable episode in their unenviable

Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma Manufacturing
DISCUSSION
Lean manufacturing six sigma Manufacturing:
Six sigma and lean system has the same way of approaching but uses different technology to achieve
the goal. The both procedure lives up to expectations for to dispense with waste and expand the
productivity of the procedure and convey the zero defect items. Recognizable of primary cause of
waste is the fundamental distinction between lean and six sigma. lean innovation says that waste
originates from undesirable steps in the production process which don t add the value of the final

Lean manufacturing and Theory of Constraints:
The hypothesis of constraints may be an extremely powerful technique for shop floor administration
for a few manufacturers, however in numerous mass customization circumstances it will be hard to
execute because of its substantial dependence on a steady and consistent constraint in the system. At
the point when considering the capacity of TOC to help in making productive mass customization, it is
vital to consider the high variability that will be available. It has been found that once the DBR
component is actualized, the constraint can shift because of variety in the system (Goldratt, 2004), and
these occasional shifts must be recognized and the system adjusted likewise. With mass customization,
numerous organizations will manage high work content variety from every work piece to the
following, accordingly it is likely that the constraint will shift oftentimes, with a higher impact for low

Baraka And Kaufman
Question: What can be seen by examining the nexus of marginalized experiences expressed in both
Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka s poetry (using critical race theory and queer theory), which centers
on homophobia and racism, and produces cultural isolation, alienation/imprisonment, and a
devastating psychic loneliness.
Question: How does the subject presented in Bob Kaufman and Amiri Barak s poetry polarize a shift
in American Culture and thus redefine what it means to be an American.
Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka as poet activists drew influence from William Blake and Arthur
Rimbaud by adopting and building on their poetic techniques of self mythologization and self
othering. It is important to analyze these foundations because as Maria Damon ... Show more content

(Damon 141). This completely ignores that fact that in San Francisco where Kaufman lived, and in
New York where Baraka lived, the Beat culture lived in close and overlapping proximity with a
burgeoning gay male community which had cultural but as yet no political visibility (141). During the
Beat Generation, the black man was a source of fear and desire for white men both gay and straight. In
this space the Black hipster carried a presumed straightness (144). In her essay Triangulated Desire
and Tactical Silences in the Beat Hipscape: Bob Kaufman and Others Maria Damon juxtaposes the
poem Bagel Shop Jazz, which is a kind of exposé into the Beat poetic scene and Russell Fitzgerald s
unpublished diary, which she deems to be the counter text to the aforementioned poem one
illuminating the other. Nonetheless, The queer side of Bob Kaufman, such as it was, and of the Beat
scene, is dramatically excised from the bagel shop poem which is framed precisely to exclude the
formal presence of queers as a group that makes up the counterculture. There is no queer content in
the poem, except insofar as the homo social economy of desire that flows between white men and
Black men, mediated by women as

Underdog Chapter Summaries
I greatly enjoyed this book, any book about an underdog is my kind of book. It always reminds me of
my neighbor s father who owned a racehorse or two. There is a trail where he used to run them as if
they were at the racetrack. That sticks out to me for a reason grandfather would tell us that story every
time we smack that divot . This book is greatly enthralling and I ll read it again and maybe even
another time.
The first chapter I witnessed the destitutions Charles Howard prevailed over. Ordinarily, I can t
envisage just starting from a bicycle salesman and becoming an automobile millionaire. Although,
Howard agonized through so much his son passing, marriage falling through, and it was too much for
one man to ordeal in one lifetime. Working from humble beginnings Howard worked his way to
become an automobile millionaire. There is one statement that remains true arduous work trumps
talent. The trainers worked with Seabiscuit equaling a top athlete. During Seabiscuit s career skeptics
were abundant, they never believed in him, but Tom could see the potential that could be harnessed
from training and time. Considered a sleeper, Seabiscuit had hidden talent, and became the best. He
even was known to showboat a little when he obtained a sizeable lead in a race, that s my kind of
horse. Floundering in the starting gate was a problem of Seabiscuit, Tom ... Show more content on

In conclusion, the story is especially inspirational even if it s about a horse. A true underdog story that
should be read, even if you re not into sports or racehorses. A ornery colt was turned into the
champion called Seabiscuit, it is dumbfounding that they had the patience. Overcoming obstacles to
achieve eternal glory in race history was what Howard and Smith had accomplished. Additionally, this
is by far one of the best books I have ever read. In retrospect, I m pretty sure he is the greatest

The Gap in Social Classes in Detroit
With Detroit being the most segregated city in the country, the center with the richest business
industries mixed along with the largest minority middle class anywhere, much controversy is
occurring and it is causing many issues to the surrounding metropolitan area. Due to such a large gap
in social classes, status frustration has led to a spike in racial tensions causing more crime. Because of
this Detroit has become a main focus of many local news reports. Many Detroit residents are
becoming upset with the fact that only negative reports have made the front covers of newspapers
giving Detroit a false image. This has been proven true with many television shows, movies, and
video game images. The previously aired show Detroit 1 8 7, an American crime drama about Detroit
s leading homicide unit, was taken off air because it gave a negative outlook on the Detroit area. The
show s producer, David Zabel stated that even though it was show about crime, there still was an
opportunity to give the city positive light because of the heroic people that do fight for the city s
justice. After reading many commentaries on this show, the conclusion that the people of Detroit say
the people of the city are not as mean and violent as the shows producers make them seem. In 1974,
Detroit was given the nickname of Murder City after more than 700 homicides were committed. Since
this is such a sensitive subject for Detroit citizens, one of the biggest issues with

Pornography Essay
Pornography
Pornography comes from the Greek root porne (harlot, prostitute, or female captive) and graphos
(writing about or description of) (Buchwald 35). Already the word pornography has a negative
connotation towards women condemning women of porn to a submissive or exploited role. The
pornography industry is predominantly a male owned and run business, hence the male perspectives
portrayed versus the female perspectives portrayed in pornography. There is a lack of women, in the
controlling ranks of the porn industry, calling the shots; this could be one possible contributor to the
majority of pornography having content that belittles women in subtle even in blatantly purposeful
ways apparent to any audience member. In short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

www.literotica.com contained many different types of erotic stories. However, some of the stories
involved women being kidnapped, abused physically and mentally, restrained, raped, and even forced
to be inseminated. There is a section in the erotic stories called NonConsent/Reluctance , which
contains hundreds of stories geared towards exciting someone s fantasy of being in control over
women. It is also possible that there are some women who are excited or turned on by thinking about
or reading about being taken control of considering some of the stories were written by women. In one
particular story that stands out, a woman was kidnapped, stripped, handcuffed, blindfolded, gagged
and left there. She woke up, urinated on herself, cried, defecated on herself then was brought to clean
up by the stranger who kidnapped her. She was then brought to a chair where she was held down in a
position with her legs open where the man proceeded to have sex with her for the purpose of bearing
his child. He called her things like sow to belittle her on top of her already miserable situation. The
story is narrated from the woman s point of view so the reader can see her thoughts about how much
she hates the situation and wants to escape, but as the story goes she puts up little to no fight. But

Feminist Movements By Dorothy Sue Cobble, Linda Gordon,...
Feminist movements have transcended generations while evolving as women s role within and
perspective of society change. These movements ranged from women wanting to simply being viewed
as equal to men in the eyes of employers to women who wanted to completely disassociate themselves
from men. On top of covering a wide range of desires they crossed generational lines as well as race,
class, professional, and ethnic lines. Some of these movements were integrated while others were
exclusively for one group of women. There is no clear cut event or day when women began pushing
for equality but it began around the beginning of the 20th century when women pushed for the right to
vote which culminated with Congress passing the Nineteenth Amendment in 1919 giving women the
right to vote. Feminism Unfinished by Dorothy Sue Cobble, Linda Gordon, and Astrid Henry picks up
the history of feminist movements following the creation of the Nineteenth Amendment. The book
highlights many of the different movements that have occurred from the 1920s until present day, it
was published in 2014 so it discusses some of the latest movements. The authors use the term
feminisms as opposed to feminism since they want to emphasize the fact that there were, are, and will
continue to be many different approaches to improve the quality of life for women in the United
States. Despite the fact that there were many different approaches to solving the issues or improving
their situation it is all

different types of ectodermal dysplasia exist. Sonic Hedgehog is a protein that plays a role in cell
growth, cell specialization, and shape of physical state. This protein is important in the embryonic

Mirror, Courage, And The Explorer)
Life Lessons
(Literary analysis on Mirror, Courage, and Explorer) Anxiety is one of the hardest things to overcome
and face up to. People may put others down that they think are lesser than themselves, this is very true
for women in 1950s and how men looked down on them. But women finally had a chance coming out
of the Great Depression and others looking for new views to look at. Three very famous titles come
out by three different women showcases their talents and view through their writing. There is Mirror
by Sylvia Plath portraying the opinion of beauty and aging. The second title being Courage by Anne
Sexton bringing to attention the struggle every human being had overcome to become an
adult/growing up that usually goes unnoticed. Then the third title The Explorer by Gwendolyn Brooks
showing the inner voice of a people who are put in new situations. Davis said on an online article, it is
bad enough that so many women dealt with sexism for as long as they did . Women in the 1950s
struggle trying to get there message out over the men, but compared to earlier years this was the first
time they were even given a chance. Mirror, Courage, and The Explorer all display 1 message on
prevailing and finding your true self. Certainly, Mirror Challenges a woman who is aging and
realizing she is no longer the young beautiful being she once was. The women is left wondering why it
is she is old and is sad that it happened to her, when she was younger she felt invincible. The poem

Social Consequences Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a period in Great Britain that took place around the 18th and 19th
century. It was a time where Britain was evolving, the people of Britain were beginning to work in the
cities, the county was becoming more urbanized with factories, and the manufacturing of new
inventions were coming about so mass production of work was done in an efficient time. This resulted
in more money, causing the rich became wealthier because business was booming. The living
conditions were getting better for some, cities were beginning to grow, and social class changes like
the emergence of the working class started coming about in the period of the Industrial Revolution.
Some may say this was a great time for Britain the country is making lots of progress the economy is
doing well big advancements are being made. But undoubtedly, others will say there were many
consequences of the Industrial Revolution. Many difficulties were faced by the specter of working
class poverty and misery during the Industrial Revolution has been and still remains an important
justification for government intervention into social economic affairs. (Majewski). Consequences of
the industrial revolution were harsh? Working conditions for both children and adults, living
conditions people had to suffer through, and the loss of cotton industries.

Love Of A Mother Essay
A LOVE OF A MOTHER
Mother is the woman who gave birth to you. Mother is the one who knows all about you and Mother
is the one who sacrifice all for you. So all mother in the world should be respected because we all

you and if you respect you have a good opinion of them, and lastly if you care you feel that it is
important and are concerned about it.
She is the first person to sacrifice her life by giving birth to all of us children. She taught us how to
walk, talk and smile. Our first mentor and teacher in helping us determine what is right and wrong.

appreciating them enough. The definition for love is a great liking or affection. But love is something
stronger. Love doesn t give up, doesn t have a swelled head and doesn t force itself on others. Love isn

Examples Of Gender Equality In The Franklin s Tale
Chaucer, in The Franklin s Tale , takes Boccaccio s older Italian tale Filocolo and changes three
distinct characteristics that transforms the tale into a more modern approach when dealing with courtly
love. Chaucer takes the traditional concepts of gender equality, social class, and infidelity and changes
them slightly in order to convey how lust can affect one s need for dominance, and make an individual
participate in abnormal behavior, such as uncontrollable lust, guilt, and pride. The concept of gender
equality is discussed frequently throughout The Franklin s Tale . Chaucer takes Boccaccio s original
pattern of having two knights fight over one lower class woman and scrambles it by having a lowly
squire chase after a higher class maiden who is already married to an absent husband. This change
helps to increase the intensity of the tale by having the women in the traditional place of dominance
over the men. Another mention of gender equality is within the relationship of Dorigen, the maiden,
and Arveragus, the knight, who originally agree on a marriage where they are both equals, however,
when Arveragus gets the chance he chooses to go away to fight in a war and ... Show more content on

in a game of courtly love. Chaucer includes this passage on affairs in order to show the consequences
for a woman if she were to chase dominance in her own life. The traditional pattern is, therefore,
transformed to convey that guilt is a consequence for a woman who contemplates the want for

tribe closer together and allows the mind to talk their god more easily. They will continue to drink this
elixir for hours until they have consumed enough to go to the shrine and start the religious ritual. The
shrine is one of the biggest structures in the tribe s community. Religion is such an important part of
the Nawois live they have placed the shrine far enough from the river to avoid flooding even though
much of their community is within the flooding zone. The shrine is shaped like a bowl. It has a state in

  • 2. Why I Need Literature Analysis I can admit whole heartedly that Literature has saved my life. Looking back, I have chosen literature over a lot of things, sometimes it was my family and friends whose views on education differed greatly from my own, but most often I was choosing literature over temptation; which, seductively presented itself all over the extremely urban streets of south central L.A. Temptation is the reason many of my old friends are in jail now and why I am the only member in my family to have graduated from high school. It has taken many people away from me, my friends and family who have turned to drugs to numb the woes of their inherit circumstances and even my father who is still in jail, that I have yet to and may never meet. Literature offered me companionship and a place to be understood. It was sanctuary, my nurturer. I was introduced to James Baldwin, Langston ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today, as the president of the literature club I am changing people s attitudes towards reading and writing and cultivating a community of readers and writers on campus. Through the club I am able to act as an instructor on many different genres and styles of literature. There I most often choose pieces of literature that would allow members to analyze another era of time and understand the struggles of that time through the literature; as well as, other forms of literature like movie scripts, music lyrics, and comic books to promote the diversity of literature in its many contemporary forms. Through events like book drives and poetry slams we are able to reach out to people, who aren t even necessarily English majors, and watch as literature enhances their lives as they voice their angst with society through their poetry. The workshops I ran on poetry and creative writing as a means of self expression allowed me to analyze many peoples work while improving my poetry just by teaching ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis of the Free-Throw Shot Analysis of the Free Throw Shot When deciding about a movement to study, I thought about many, and very few interested me. Then I decided to choose something that was very important to me. Shooting the basketball, and more specifically the technique in performing a free throw. I thought by looking more closely at the details of a movement I have been doing since a small child. I thought possibly I could learn something that would give me an advantage in my shot. The application of this particular movement is for shooting a free throw, which is a stand still uncontested shot. There are a few rules that go with shooting a free throw, such as you have to be behind the fifteen foot line, called the free throw line, and you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where you want to focus on the rim and extend at the elbow, and extending at the wrist. Now to talk about what all this really means and how you get the ball from your hand to the rim. When we do it, we consider it to be very simple, but it is actually a very complex movement, involving many different muscles. Many muscles are involved, some more than others. I will first talk about the ones used the least. The shoulder girdle involves muscles that are key to the movement, but are mostly used in stabilization of the shoulder. The Trapezius and the Rhomboid muscles are stabilizers of the shoulder along with the rotator cuff muscles including the Supraspinatis, Infraspinatis, Teres Minor, and Subscapularis which provide dynamic stability of the shoulder. All these muscles are key, but are not involved much in the actual movement. The Serratus Anterior is commonly used in movements drawing the scapula forward with slight upward rotation, and would be used in shooting the basketball and works in conjunction with Pectoralis Minor. Now we will get into some of the muscles actually doing the work when shooting the free throw. The Deltoid, which is one of the most important muscles involved in any shoulder movement is responsible for the movement of the Humerus. Any movement of the Humerus will involve the Deltoid. The Coracobrachialis assist in flexion of the shoulder. Other muscles involved in the cocking phase of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is this first phase where you, the facility manager, can watch the work of the energy auditor to make sure he does not miss any equipment and allocates the equipment to their right meters. Phase II: Data Analysis The second phase expected of an energy audit is an analysis of the data obtained at the facility. Here the auditor leaves the facility and returns to his place of business to use his skills and computer programs to analyze the data collected. When he/she has analyzed your existing equipment s operation, it should match the demand and energy consumption on the electric bills. The analysis should show a breakdown of the percent of demand and energy used by various types of equipment such as air conditioning, heating, lighting, motors, etc. It should bench mark the facility s energy use index to similar facilities. Phase III: Recommend Energy Conservation with Cost Effective The third phase of an energy audit is to recommend energy conservation measures in equipment and operations. This would include replacing inefficient with high efficiency lighting, air conditioning, and motors, adding window tint to south and west facing windows, installing motion sensors, and purchasing there energy saving devices. • 5. My Poetry By Martha Nell Analysis The humanities are very crucial in human existence and their characteristic. It is not luxury as smith Martha Nell arguing in this article; however, it is a way to understand and learn more about human conditions. It is the quality of the light in which we see our dreams, hope, wishes, and fears toward changes that first made to language then idea finally action (51). My Poetry said Smith includes; music, history, art, philosophy, dance, theater and overall humanities (48). Poetry is a way to give name to nameless things then we will be able to think critically (48). • 6. Cyber Security, By Mark Rasch The ISSA conference was very enlightening and interesting. Mark Rasch introduced cyber security to us from a very different perspective that I haven t had anyone explore before. To some extent it clears and clarifies some of the decisions that have been taken resulting in the many different cases that I have read in the news regarding cyber security. The closest example that comes to mind is the Snowden case in regards to privacy and security laws. In addition to that, I concur with Mark regarding the laws that are stated that in terms of privacy are not as transparent and certain loopholes change the way these laws can have effect upon an individual, organization or an employee. As per what I understood from his initial remarks about lawmaking from his early work experience. The scenarios that Mark jumped into, being that conference a room of senior officials who have all the authority and power that they need to take certain kinds of decisions that will change things beyond our borders. It was an on the spot exercise that actually made me think harder and allowed me to grasp better the basic knowledge and understanding of cyber security that I have gained throughout this semester. I have been recommended to read Sun Tzu s Art of War as it not only covers strategic aspects of only war but the main analogy of it could be applied to an individual s way of living and how he/she deals with the things that are encountered in one s daily life. Keeping that in mind, his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Golden State California, nicknamed the Golden State, has attracted many an immigrant through the years. From the migrations of peoples thousands of years ago that led to the establishment of the many Native American tribes that populated the land, to the Spanish and Americans in later centuries, one wonders what attracted all to the farthest frontier, the unsettled west coast. That is until you delve deeper into what the land had to offer as an economic source. The year 1769 saw Gaspar de Portola and Father Saint Junípero Serra leading the first permanent European settlers to California. Before the end of the century, missions were established along the coast and towns were established, especially Los Angeles in 1781. The establishment of missions and towns began economic growth based on agricultural production and Native American labor that would soon lead to cities, ranches and local owners under Mexican occupation taking the same advantage to produce locally until the United States brought a wave of new settlement and industrial ideas that would sweep local trade and production into a new era of transcontinental economic growth, transportation and financial gains. In 1542, Juan Cabrillo made his way up what the coast of what the Spanish called Alta California from the newly conquered Spanish province of Mexico in search of gold, but he only found Native Americans living on land that consisted of thousands of square miles of fertile valleys, high mountains, freshwater lakes, and ... • 8. What it Takes for a Site to be Inscribe on the UNESCO... The process required for a site to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List is long and complicated. It has four main steps, each of which are a process in themselves: placement on a tentative list, submission of a nomination file, evaluation by an Advisory Body, and a final decision by the World Heritage Committee. The entire process usually takes about a year and a half, but can vary depending of the time taken for each step (World Heritage Ireland, 2010). In order to submit sites to the World Heritage List, a country must first sign the World Heritage Convention, thereby committing to protecting their natural and culture heritage. The State Party should include both a management history of and a history of the culture surrounding the site in order to help establish its authenticity, integrity, and how it fits the selection criteria. The definitions of authenticity and integrity that UNESCO uses are in the Nara Document on Authenticity (World Heritage Ireland, 2010). The State Party can demonstrate the authenticity and integrity by listing and defending any and all works completed on the site, whether for conservation, restoration, or adaptation (World Heritage Ireland, 2010). This history of works is important, because if a site has been reconstructed so many times that barely an of the original survives, the site may no longer have authenticity. The history of the site itself and the surrounding culture is also important, because it helps to demonstrate the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) of the site, as well as how it might fit the criteria as a unique or exceptional example of cultural traditions, civilizations living or dead, or any of the other ten criteria. The nomination file also has to contain a management plan to insure the OUV, authenticity, and integrity of the site are maintained for future generations. The management plan can be one of the most difficult aspects of the nomination file, because it requires so much cooperation between all of the owners of the site, stakeholders in the ... • 9. The Is My Real Life Story Of Bias At Uc Davis This is my real life story of bias at UC Davis... Today I had an appointment with my upper division writing professor, Dr. Emily Foss. I met with her to review my coursework, and to address some concerns. The first part of the 20 minute meeting went fairly well. She had not taken the time to collect collect some early writing steps from us, not were we required to upload these steps online. There was also ambiguity about the due date of our last paper. All of those things were ironed out in fairly short order. The discussion then turned to my most recent paper, a paper that required two, distinct perspectives of a community based on in group (first essay) and out group (second essay) membership. I wrote my first paper about my experiences growing as a Black, gay male, and the feeling of not belonging of any community. The second was an academic perspective, taken from a sociological approach about gay persons of color (intersectional identities). On this particular paper, I received an 80% (under the University of California system that is a B minus) and based on the quality of the paper, I couldn t understand why. But shortcomings or mistakes in this Report are my fault alone. Some recommendations are radical. The participants in the construction process can react in three ways to them. They can refuse to have anything to do with the Report. That would be a pity. The problems would remain, but the goodwill to tackle them, which has been growing dramatically over the last twelve months, would be lost. Even though there have been many setbacks to a united Europe, including WWI, WWII, and the Cold War, the realization of a united Europe became a reality with the signing of the Maastricht Treaty in 1992 creating the European Union (EU). Furthermore, the progression towards a fully united Europe took another step with the introduction of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union (EMU), which introduced a common currency, the euro (Bordo). The Flaws of the European Monetary Union and European Union: Even with the limitations inherent to the EMU and EU, they have provided great economic gains. Since the establishment of the EMU and EU, trade costs have decreased between member nations, and have given Europe the ability to compete economically with the United States, China, and other global economic superpowers (Feldstein). However, there are four major problems that the EMU and EU cannot currently address: (1) irresponsible government expenditure, (2) stabilizing economic shocks, (3) coordinating economic policy between nations, and (4) addressing debt crises. [1] Irresponsible Government Expenditure: A major issue faced by the nations in the EMU and EU is irresponsible government expenditure. This issue grew rapidly due to the low interest rates offered to members of the EMU after its creation. In 1939 Poland was invaded by Germany and was put under the Soviet Union s control. One cultural aspect Poles like to exercises is their right to freedom and to be different, but under the rule of the USSR it was very hard to express ones individuality and religion. Communism called for unionism and the Poles disliked this way of life. This lack of personal freedom handicapped the Polish culture, not allowing it to grow because many Poles were not known as wealthy. The line You looked at him and you saw this and you thought, Oh, now don t be like that! and the author s italicization of the word be implies a certain amount of disgust for a husband who is trying to crush his wife s jovial spirit. With a spit of contempt, Brush adds that he was like that (line fifteen), intensifying her anger and disapprobation of his meanness. Brush supplies a list of words to describe what the husband muttered to his wife as some punishing thing, quick and curt and unkind (line eighteen). The lengthened syntax in this sentence has the feel of the husband s criticism of his wife for essentially being sweet to him. He comes off as a nasty man too concerned with his macho, stoical reputation to take a moment to be nice to his wife and thank her for remembering his birthday. • 34. Examples Of Gender Equality In The Franklin s Tale Chaucer, in The Franklin s Tale , takes Boccaccio s older Italian tale Filocolo and changes three distinct characteristics that transforms the tale into a more modern approach when dealing with courtly love. Chaucer takes the traditional concepts of gender equality, social class, and infidelity and changes them slightly in order to convey how lust can affect one s need for dominance, and make an individual participate in abnormal behavior, such as uncontrollable lust, guilt, and pride. The concept of gender equality is discussed frequently throughout The Franklin s Tale . Chaucer takes Boccaccio s original pattern of having two knights fight over one lower class woman and scrambles it by having a lowly squire chase after a higher class maiden who is already married to an absent husband. This change helps to increase the intensity of the tale by having the women in the traditional place of dominance over the men. Another mention of gender equality is within the relationship of Dorigen, the maiden, and Arveragus, the knight, who originally agree on a marriage where they are both equals, however, when Arveragus gets the chance he chooses to go away to fight in a war and ...
