Nerds Vs. Nurdle Analysis
In this chapter Nerds vs. Nurdles we discuss the beginnings of the other half of the Project Kaisei and
a project with the New Horizon ship called the SEAPLEX voyage. This all started due to one of a new
generation of ocean researchers named Miriam Goldstein. The chapter goes into enough detail about
her origins and why she decided to become an ocean researcher. The young scientist is even quoted of
calling herself an accomplished barfer for lack of better words. This is due to her not really being a sea
fairing person as her family origins as she put it as, ...we re not really a very outdoorsy family, but she
started small in the oceanic research department at the University of California in coastal pollution
focusing mainly on knee deep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I mean for crying out loud my computer is made WITH plastic! Also after reading it I have started to
feel a little bit of guilt. Not that it has me overly messed up it s just got me asking questions. Such as,
How in the world can this issue be reversed? Or Am I compounding the issue with my own consumer
notions? Of course I personally find it disturbing that I would even be remotely linked to this issue.
But I am. Most all of America is linked to it with the rest of the world following in suit. But I tend to
try and put a positive spin on it myself so that maybe just maybe there is a solution. A clean up method
that could work, or a better way of using our current materials so as to try and make our economy
bounce back and stop or slow this whole water pollution issue. This chapter is now also making me
consider whether or not the shrimp I ate at a restaurant awhile ago may have been affected as well. If
it did then what effect has it had on me physically? Also, another thought that comes to mind is if it
has had any major affects on the U.S. population as a whole? Or if it has anything to do with why our
politicians don t seem to do anything remotely right or close to what they say they are going to do.
Then there is the fact that FOUR MILLION tons of plastic just up and poof, disappear, every year.
That in itself could be a major factor in the U.S. economic crisis as well as a number of other
ecological issues as

Pros And Cons Of Edward Snowden
In 2010, Snowden took a job as a private contractor at an NSA facility in Japan. He worked for Dell
corporation which contracted with the agency. As we know, after 9/11, opportunities for contactors
increased as the American security state turned many of its intelligence tasks to private corporations.
This job gave Snowden a top secret clearance and greater access to surveillance secrets than he
previously had working for the CIA. Like his reaction in the CIA, Snowden seemed even more
shocked by what he saw going on in the NSA: I could watch drones in real times as they surveilled the
people they might kill. You could watch entire villages and see what everyone was doing. I watched
NSA tracking people s Internet activities as they typed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Snowden from the previous whistleblowers like Julian Assange, Daniel Ellsberg, Bradley Manning

Snowden which will be analyzed in the next chapter might show if it is a reason behind the reforms

Spanking And Discipline
Many people, ages forty or older, grew up in a household where parents disciplined. The two types of
discipline was in the form of spanking or Time out. Spanking or Timeout tend to be a structured way
of letting a child know that he/she has done something wrong. Many parents used these forms of
punishment as a deterrent hoping the child would not make the same mistake twice but instead
succeed. The question of what is the best way to discipline depends on what a parent experienced as a
child. Different disciplinary can have a huge impact on how successful a child is in the future.
Spanking can make a child become more open to violent and depression behavioral, leading to them
failing in the future. Jim Sims Giles author of the Child, maternal, and family characteristics
associated with spanking stated that spanking can have a long term and short term side effect. Having
been spanked as a child and/or adolescent is related to later psychological problems including an
increased chance of being depressed and thinking about suicide (Straus, in press), becoming violent
and delinquent (Straus, 1991), and experiencing alienation and lower economic achievement. Physical
discipline can have an emotional effect on a child opening them up to become depress or turn to
violence for relief. Spanking also can have a long term effect on a child s memory. The article Child,
maternal, and family characteristics associated with spanking stat that many adults can remember a

Design And Analysis Of Control System Structures For...
This thesis deals with the design and analysis of control system structures for electric drives equipped
with permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) in automotive application. With the increasing
popularity of multi level inverters, the room for improvement of the performance of voltage source
inverters has continuously been tested for various applications. The rapid development of high
switching frequency power electronics in the past decade leads towards wider application of voltage
source inverters in AC power generation. Therefore, this prompts the need for a modulation technique
with less total harmonic distortion, fewer switching losses, and wider linear modulation range. The
present thesis highlights the comparison of the conventional two level inverter and the three level
diode clamped inverters for the application in automotive industry. The thesis highlights the DC link
balancing control which is the most commonly faced problem in case of a three level diode clamped
inverter, with no additional circuit. Modifications of the modulation techniques for the realization of
the DC link balancing control have been proposed. Comparison of the total harmonic distortion of the
line to line voltages at the outputs of the two and three level inverters has been presented for PWM,
SVPWM CB SVPWM techniques. The thesis also deals with the control of the Permanent Magnet
Synchronous Motor drive using Field Oriented Control technique. A PMSM drive system based on

Taking a Look at Francis Alÿs
Francis Alÿs Francis Alÿs has startled and dumbfounded our contemporary art world time and again.
As a Belgian architect turned artist, now residing in Mexico city, Alÿs is able to offer a multi cultural
approach to the problems and fallacies of today. Although Alÿs is clearly interested in themes of
informal manual labor and homelessness in Mexico, failed promises to assist in the modernizing of
Latin America, and society constructed limits in immigration and movement, his work tends to lend
itself more towards poetic attitudes and moods of ephemera, instead of adopting a loud and violent
feel. His projects rotate around ideas of magical absurdity, which leaves them open to interpretation
and moves political and economic crises into landscapes of lyric, where they can be re examined. The
most significant question he poses is whether such poetic acts, while underlining the senselessness of
particular real situations, can also create a space for new ways of thinking (1). The way that Alÿs
works reflects the fluidity of his ideas, he begins with a concept. He has spoken about being
influenced by everything from fairy tales and children s book to Belgian Surrealism and early Italian
Renaissance painting, and Alÿs has even begun projects based entirely on an anecdote he has
happened upon. Then come the projects themselves, which are mostly actions and events. Some of
these actions require months of developing and financing, and others are modest and abrupt. Francis

Argumentative Essay On The 13th Amendment
By the time the sun barely peeks over the horizon, several others and I have been working the fields
for hours. We pick cotton until our fingers bleed. If my first strip isn t done before noon, the whip will
come slashing. If I complete my strip and take a break before moving on to the next section, the whip
will come slashing. If my legs give out and can no longer support my weight, the whip will come
slashing. When I was informed about the new amendment to the constitution tears welled up in my
eyes as I took a step towards freedom, or what I thought was freedom. The thirteenth amendment
brought forth the idea that slavery would be abolished. However, the congressmen left a loophole in
the amendment, allowing slavery to continue, but under another name. The thirteenth amendment was
the first to abolish slavery, or so people say. The thirteenth amendment reads, Neither slavery nor
involuntary servitude except as punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly
convicted shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction, the
constitution. This amendment could easily fool people into believing that all was right within the
world. However, soon after this amendment was added to the constitution unjust laws started to pop
up within the states, When slavery was legally abolished. A new set of laws called Black Codes
emerged to criminalize legal activity for African Americans. Through the enforcement of these laws,
acts such as

Phaethon Analysis
1. Phaethon
Phaethon was the son of the Sun god and a mortal woman named Clymene. Phaethon went to see his
father at his palace where his father swore on Styx to grant his son one wish of whatever he desired.
He chose to drive his father s chariot and could not be dissuaded though his father warned him of the
many dangers. Once he began his journey, the horses realized it was not their owner driving the
chariot and went as they pleased, causing them to run into tons of monstrous beasts and terrors.
Phaethon then let go of the reins, which made the horses act even more rebellious and set Mother
Earth ablaze in which she replied with a cry to the gods. Jove then hurled a thunderbolt down upon the
chariot which killed Phaethon and shattered the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hercules was short tempered and emotional, resulting in many deaths by his hands, including his
music teacher. Hercules was known as a hero despite his many killings, four being his wife and three
kids because Hera sent him into temporary madness since she was angry over Hercules being Zeus
son. He then went to Athens, but could not stay because he felt as if he needed to be punished for his
wrongs. So he set off to Delphi who told him to go to Eurystheus where he would complete twelve
labors known as the Labors of Hercules . Hercules felt no reprieve once finished, but lived on with
many more adventures and even remarried to a young princess named Deianira (236). Later on
Hercules had slayed a friend of his, resulting in punishment by Zeus to be a slave to the Queen,
Omphale for a year (or speculation of three). After he was free he set off to kill King Eurytus with an
army to defeat the city as well. While Hercules was gone someone told Deianira Hercules was in love
with another woman and she sent a robe with blood that she believed would make Hercules love her
once again, but only tortured him. Once Deianira learned of her mistake she killed herself, resulting in
Hercules having people build him a pyre on Mount Oeta. After the pyre was lit Hercules was sent to
heaven where he married Hera s daughter,

An Example Of Representative Democracy In The UK
Democracy means literally rule by people . However, it is a broad and imprecise term. Democracy
refers to political systems in which the people are involved in decision making in some way, either
directly or indirectly. Direct democracy is when all individuals express their opinion themselves and
not through representatives acting on their behalf. An example of direct democracy is a referendum.
Representative democracy is a form of democracy in which an individual selects a person (or political
party) to act on behalf to exercise political choice. The UK is an example of a representative
democracy. There are ongoing debates about how democratic the UK is. The UK has a number of
positive democratic features such as; devolved government, independent judiciary, free media, free
and fair elections and a wide range of political parties and pressure groups. However the UK has also
been criticised for having a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is where powers have been transferred from the UK parliament in London to the Scottish
parliament in Edinburgh, the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff and the Northern Ireland Assembly in
Belfast. This gives power to the local people to make laws better suited to that area. For example, the
Welsh Assembly made all prescription medicine free as it benefited the poorest in their community.
Therefore, the UK is democratic as power is not held in one place, it is distributed amongst official
government bodies. However, there is still an underrepresentation of minority viewpoints due to the
voting system. The HOuse of Commons is elected by the first past the post system, which produces a
mismatch between the votes cast for UK political parties and the seats that each party wins in
parliament. For example in the 2015 general election, UKIP gained 12.6% of votes but only one seat
in the House of Commons. Therefore, the UK is undemocratic as it does not accurately represent the
views of the

Organ donation is the surgical removal of organs or a tissue transplanted to another for the purpose of
exchanging a failed organ injured by disease or injury. Organs and tissues that can be transferred are
liver, kidneys, pancreas, heart, lungs, intestines, cornea, middle ear, skin, bone, bone marrow, heart
valves, and connective tissues. Each person regardless of age can consider themselves a prospective

based on their medical history as determined by the Organ Procurement Agency (Cleveland Clinic).

There should be a call for stricter regulation of post mortem human tissue. It would seem obvious that
what is of paramount value in life would necessarily depreciate in death. This is not true of the human
body. With the emergence of biotechnology and the consequent need for post mortem human tissue,
the human cadaver has become quite valuable. In pieces and parts or in its entirety, organizations will
pay top dollar for the human body, even after it houses the human spirit.
Throughout history, civilizations have found uses for the bodies, organs and tissue of the dead. The
potential for the human cadaver is ever expanding. Since 1954, human organs have been successfully
transplanted into living recipients who would otherwise die. (Ranee Khooshie Lal Panjab) Modern
researchers use cadaver tissue to study physiological processes and conduct testing. Clinicians restore
transplant recipient functions through procedures that include skin grafts and corneal transplants.
Cadavers are essential to medical school anatomy classes, forensic experts measuring body
decomposition etc. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) organs worldwide both are
legal and illegal, but the use of the organ only decrease half of the actual need.
A particular heated debate has risen on the matter of legislative defaults on cadaveric organ donation.
In many countries, including the U.S., Great Britain, Germany and Austria, cadaveric organ

Twelve Angry Men, a play by Reginald Rose, follows the plot of twelve jurors in a courthouse jury
room. They are attempting to decide on a verdict for a 16 year old boy on trial for the murder of his
father. It is one of the hottest years on record in New York and these jurors just want the case to be

Essay about The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1948 would have lasting negative effects on Mexican Americans.
The Treaty was signed after America had won the Mexican American war. America gained possession
of the southwest states that had been part of Mexico for the price of around eighteen million dollars. In
Article IX of the Treaty, it states that the Mexicans shall be maintained and protected in the free
enjoyment of their liberty and property, and secured in the free exercise of their religion without
restriction (Vargas 139). And as Rachel Rivera points out Article VII promised the Mexicans the right
to keep their land which previously belonged to Mexico. However, the Treaty would not grant the ...

Tijerina raised questions of Spanish and Mexican land grants. Tijerina fought to uphold the Mexican
American rights protected by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Tijerina opposed the government for
confiscating the Mexican American land illegally. In an open letter from 1969 he writes from the
Sante Fe jail. He compares the Mexican struggle with the black struggle in America. The black Civil
Rights movement of the sixties would help open the door for other causes, such as the Chicano
movement. In the movie Chicano! the blacks led by Martin Luther King Jr., and the Chicano
movement led by Corky Gonzalez plan for a poor people march on the capital in Washington D.C.
However, Dr. King was shot weeks before the planned march. Without King s leadership the
movement did not have the same effect. The different ethnic groups could not organize as well as they
could behind King s strong words. The movement would have had positive effects on the rest of
America. Unfortunately, as stated in the film, they never could get it together.
The social awareness of the 1960 s was in part successful because of the youth. The Chicano
movement and many organizations began to grow in high schools

Women s Roles Of Women In Duel In The Sun
Straying away from the stereotypical timid housewife, women in the West were given room to create
new identities. In the movie Duel in the Sun (1946), Pearl engages in a shootout in the desert with a
man. While in the movie The Outlaw (1943), Rio McDonald ambushes gunfighters in order to avenge
her brother s death. Although women often stood in the shadows of their more rugged male
counterparts, these movies and characters proved that women were just as rugged as men, shocking
the world with their ruthless behavior and unladylike behavior.
These Wild West women were pioneers in their own way because they challenged the traditional roles
of females, similar to how the present day feminist movement aims for gender equality within a
patriarchal society. Present day feminism champions for equal pay in the workplace since according to
the National Organization for Women women are paid on average only 77 percent of what men are
paid. While in the West women were seeking greater job opportunities, women now are arguing for
equal pay to reduce the discrepancies between the genders. Additionally, women are fighting to heal
the wounds of rape, acceptance of street harassment, and the generally undermining of female
intelligence, ability and strength. Similar to how women in the Wild West were breaking stereotypes
and the glass ceiling, present day feminism movement such as the 2017 Women s March argues
against patterns that undermine feminine equality and empowerment. The March

imperative in the industry. This study evaluates the response of Nigerian banks to this new trend and
examines the extent to which they have adopted innovative technologies in their operations and the
resultant effects. Information and Communication Technology Information Technology (IT) is the
automation of processes, controls, and information production using computers, telecommunications,
software and ancillary equipment such as automated teller machine and debit cards. It is a term that
generally covers the harnessing of electronic technology for the information needs of a business at all
levels. Communication is the conveyance or transmission of information from one point to another
through a medium. An example of how ICT has had an impact on the Banking Industry is that its
emergence allows banks to apply credit scoring techniques to consumer credits, mortgages or credit
cards. Hence, products that used to be highly dependent on the banks´ evaluation of its customers have
now become more standardized. Other examples of ICT impact on the Banking Industry include the
increased process efficiency, which can reduce costs in banks, and the branch renewal, where focus is
gradually shifting away from traditional brick and mortar banks towards the dual bank concept

The first source I chose to assess was the Swiss Gothic Iron Chamber Clock, 1600 s the mechanics of
the clock is still a very important attribute to modern European history; although it is dated 200 years
before what can be perceived to be its relevance in a sociological sense,it can be considered vital in
explaining the key concept, which is modernity; particularly caged and chambered clocks. The source
represents a seismic shift in the pre modern world becoming disenchanted from religion and being as
morally true and right 1 this can be seen actively in the religious sects such as Quakerism in the 16th
century believing that they were part of the true (Christian Church) 2 in the ways the acted and lived

Decision Systems And Human Computer Interaction Essay
On a warm evening after a busy day at the office, I fired up my Laptop to search Big Bang Theory , to
learn further about the famous theory. However, all my search results were related to the sitcom. This
was astonishing, nevertheless, I checked the next page, the page after that, and so on. Surprisingly, not
even a single result pertaining to the intended scientific theory existed in the search result. Only after
appending the term science I arrived at the expected result. This made me ponder about underlying
intelligent systems at play, including the possible reasons for search engine s failure to present the
expected results. This incident was phenomenal in transforming my way of thinking about
recommendation systems and Human Computer Interaction.
During my senior year (B.E), my focus was mainly towards studying software development and
Intelligence in electrical systems (Smart systems). My accomplished projects involved Integrated
Smart Meters alongside Schneider Electric and High Voltage Breakdown Automation sponsored by
National Instruments which seamlessly implemented Internet of Things. Both projects demanded
learning new programming suites as languages such as JAVA and LabVIEW. The more I worked on
smart systems, the more curious I was about Intelligence systems and their interaction with humans.

The Implications Of Prospect Theory
The aspects that prospect theory takes into account and the expected utility doesn t, are emphasis on
low probability events and protective willingness, which means greater risk aversion for precautionary
decisions under risk (Kusev, P., van Schaik, P., Ayton, P., Dent, J. Chater, N. 2009). These are called
heuristics and biases in decision making. In this part, other heuristics and biases of framing of the
problem, gambler s fallacy and overconfidence will be discussed in depth with respective example and
ACAR of its significance on process of making decisions. Firstly, the bias is framing of the problem.
When people frame the problem in different ways, it will result in different decision. The example is
observed when the description of options in terms of gains (positive frame) rather than losses
(negative frame) elicits systematically different choices (Gonzalez, C., Dana, J., Koshino, H. Just, M.
2005). This takes an important place in business decision making. ACAR is made following. Frame
(2012) outlines that framing is the first step when people make decisions. Russo and Schoemaker
(1989) proves that this bias affects the recognition and response to problems by providing the
boundaries (what will be considered part of the choice set), reference points (elements used to
determine success and failure), and yardsticks (how the outcomes are measured) . Nevertheless,
different people can have different framing of the problem so if they exchange thoughts, outcomes

Kitty Kallen s Argument Essay
Go often to the house of a friend, for weeds soon choke up the unused path is a Swedish proverb. This
proverb means that one should make an effort to check up on their friends and always try. All people

people. People should check in on friends once in awhile. This proverb is accurately portrayed by a

later in the game by allowing the opposing team to come back and take the win? It s no surprise that
the lack of focus from an athlete or an athletic team can lead to disappointing ties or loses. This is why
it is important that athletes keep their head in the game and remain focused. When athletes are in the
zone they are not as easily distracted and they are totally involved with what they are doing. In this
state, it s like time has stopped and they are tuned in to the task at hand. One of the most important
skills in sports is having the ability to focus. All athletes, regardless of skill level, can benefit greatly
from an improvement in their ability to focus and concentrate. Luckily enough, there are foods that
you can eat that are known to help improve your mental focus. If you want to keep your head in the
game, make sure you are ingesting these top brain foods for increased athletic focus. 1. Oatmeal This
breakfast favorite is a nutritious one that not only helps your endurance and strength, but also keeps
you full as well. This low calorie food is chock full of magnesium, which has been shown to help
improve your memory and boost your brain. Oats also release their sugar as glucose slowly, and
having a steady glucose level means better attention levels and focus. 2.

Liver Synthesis
Without the liver, the human body would not be able to regulate chemical levels in the blood. The
liver is composed of eight segments that form two main lobes. Our body relies on the production of
bile to help break down fats, and the liver to process the blood to create nutrients useful for the body.
Regulating blood clotting, processing use of hemoglobin, glucose release and storage, and the
production of proteins are only a few of the many functions for the liver.
Storage is an important function of the liver and is needed to provide a constant supply of vitamins
and minerals to the body. The liver as an organ of the immune system, the aids the body and fights off
foreign bodies by Kupffer cells. Kupffer cells line the sinusoids and capture/digest cellular debris,
bacteria, fungi, and old blood cells. Aiding in the production of essential protein ... Show more content

As blood passes through the hepatic portal vein, hepatocytes monitor the blood and make sure all
impurities are cleaned before the blood exits the liver. By neutralizing the toxins to form activated
intermediates, the enzyme system can then break down the toxin chemicals lowering the toxicity by
hydrolysis, reduction, and oxidation. The product of these reactions is antioxidants, which can use
damage if too many are produced. As this is occurring, conjugation pathway is taking place, which
adds another substance like cysteince or glycine to make the toxin less harmful, water soluble, and
able to be excreted in waste.
In conclusion, from detoxifying to body to metabolism and storage of important nutrients to the
production of bile the liver preforms a lot of important functions. When damaged by substances such
as alcohol, the liver is not able to properly perform its functions and can lead to a variety of diseases
or permanent damage. Awareness of these functions and what can cause damage to it is a good way to
keep your liver healthy and

Rhetorical Speech In Toussaint-Louverture
In 1861 Wendell Phillips a white abolitionist wrote a passionate speech about Toussaint Louverture
near the beginning of the Civil War. Phillips wrote the speech to persuade Northerners to allow
African Americans to join the military. Toussaint Louverture was a former slave turned Haitian
general who led a revolt to liberate enslaved Haitians. In the speech Phillips uses rhetorical devices,
such as: juxtaposition, logos, ethos, allusions, and antithesis to convince Northerners African
Americans are more than capable of serving in the military. Phillips starts his speech by making
allusions to past military leaders for instance George Washington, and Napoleon. Phillips alludes to
the love France has for Napoleon and the love America has for Washington, which also brings about
pathos in Americans. Phillips conveys this through lines like If I stood here tonight to tell the story of
Napoleon, I should take it from the lips of Frenchmen, who find no language rich enough to paint the
great captain of the nineteenth century. Were I here to tell you the story of Washington, I should take it
from your hearts you, who think no marble white enough on which to carve the name of the Father of
his Country. Directly after, Phillips states I am about to tell you the story of a Negro who has left
hardly one written line. Phillips does this to illustrate just because Washington and Napoleon were
highly favored and remembered does not mean those men were more skilled than Toussaint. Toussaint
wasn t remembered as being on the same military level of Washington or Napoleon because Toussaint
had testimonies written about him by his the British, French, and Spanish. All those countries despised
Toussaint because he defeated them in battle, so by Phillips adding these details he hopes it ll make
the Northerners realize African Americans have already been talented in military aspects, but the
stories went untold because men like Toussaint were hated and lied about by their enemies. Phillips
goes on to say Were I here to tell you the story of Washington, I should take it from your hearts you,
who think no marble white enough on which to carve the name of the Father of his Country, and I am
about to tell you the story of a

Tips In Fashion
Tips for Experimenting with a New Look
Changing your style can be difficult. The fear of the unknown is often stifling and the initial feeling of
something new can feel uncomfortable. But we all need to step outside of our comfort zone at times in
order to discover something new and finding out who we really are as human beings.
So, if you are looking to update your style and do something different, here are a few tips to help you
get started. These tips will guarantee you experiment without fear and while still maintaining a
comfortable and personalised style.
Find your ideal fashion muse
You should start by finding a fashion muse. It can be a person you know in real life or a male celebrity
you admire. The key is to find someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To ensure you don t end up wearing colours that are not flattering, you might want to try colour tests
online to find those that suit you the most. You can find tests, which help determine what colours are
best for you. Pick those colours from the list you haven t ever tried or which you didn t think would
suit you.
Play with fabrics
You can also change your look by playing with different fabrics. You might be known for your denim
outfits. Perhaps you mainly wear jeans when you go out. So, pick something different such as khaki.
Steer away from the fabrics you normally use and opt something different.
If you usually have a basic cotton blend blazer when dressing up, swap it to a velvet one from Moss
Bros. If you ve never own jeans in your entire life, then get yourself a denim jacket or a pair of Levis
jeans. Similarly to the colour thing above, you want to go for the opposite and play with materials you
don t normally wear.
You can do the same with patterns. If you always wear non patter suites, try picking a pin stripe suit
the next time. On the other hand, if your t shirts are and shirts are always patterned, consider opting
for simple coloured shirts instead.
Find somewhere new to shop
Sometimes our sense of style is not just driven by what we think we like to wear but the places we
shop. Different stores often embrace different style and if you always shop with the same fashion
brand or retailer, you aren t going to end up with unique style.

Jonah s Attempt For Escape His Divine Mission
Jonah s Attempt to Escape His Divine Mission The book of Jonah is a fascinating one. It is full of
intrigue, suspense, questions, and unbelievable events that let the discerning believer in on the
awesome power of God s correction, His love, and especially His grace. For some reason Jonah,
though a prophet of God who seemingly was willing to follow the Lord s commands, did not adopt the
grace attribute of God s character. Jonah was judgmental, as human beings often are, and he could not
see past the egregious sin of Nineveh in order to understand the grace and the heart of God. Nineveh
was a city saturated with sin. Its inhabitants performed evil deeds in the sight of God. The Assyrian
empire ruled this very important city and all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wanted Nineveh totally destroyed. Jonah did not believed that the Ninevites deserved another
chance, possibly because of the ferociousness of their sin, so he decided that he was not going to bring
the prophetic word of God before them. Knowing that his words had the power to change people s
minds, Jonah did not want even the slightest chance of Nineveh repenting to God (Jonah 1:3). Some
ministers in modern day would be wise to revisit the book of Jonah. So many refuse to preach in
certain places because they feel the sin is too great, or that God cannot meet the need, or even that
they are not the right person to bring the word to that group of people. They will claim, as Jonah did,
that the people do not deserve mercy; therefore, it is better to run from the task (and God) than to
preach a word that might change the hearts of man. In running from God, readers can see just how
stubborn and steadfast in his convictions Jonah was. He boarded a boat to Tarshish hoping foolishly to
escape the presence of the Lord (Jonah 1:3). This is an interesting tactic because as a prophet of God,
and a very successful prophet at that, Jonah knew that there was no where he could go to escape God.
For the reader, one would do well to remember that God omnipresent. He is everywhere all the time.
He is also omniscient, so he hears every thought that enters the mind and knows the exact intentions of
each person s

Fluid s Resistance To The Viscosity Of A Fluid
Viscosity The viscosity of a fluid of measured by said fluid s resistance to the gradual deformation
caused by shear and tensile stress and is identified as a property of a fluid in which opposes the
relative motion between two different surfaces of a fluid both moving at different velocities. A fluid
that has no resistance to shear stress is known as an inviscid or ideal fluid. Not every fluid is highly or
even somewhat viscous though zero viscosity can only be observed at rather lower temperatures but
other than that all fluids can be said to have a positive viscosity and technically are said to be viscid
and/or viscous. Though a fluid may only be called viscous if the viscosity of this fluid is substantially
greater than that of water but it may be deemed mobile if its viscosity is notably less than water. An
example of viscosity would be when a fluid is being forced through a tube. The particles that compose
the fluid would typically move more quickly near the tube s axis but slower near said tube s walls.
There are some stresses in which require overcoming the friction between the particle layers in a fluid
to keep said fluid in motion and for a given velocity pattern the stress required must be proportional to
said fluid s viscosity. An example of a viscous fluid would be honey, which because of both the high
attraction between its particles, and the previously mentioned, resists the urge to flow. An example of
a highly viscous fluid would be pitch, which is the

Genetic, Biological, Chemical Pathways, And Modification...
A cancerous cell must adapt to various biological, chemical pathways, and modify it to impose its
malignant behavior in human s cell. The authors, Douglas Hanahan and Robert A. Weinberg points out
six significant variations in cell physiology that leads to the composition of most of these cancerous
cell. The cell s autonomy in growth signals, insensivity to growth inhibitory signals, circumvent
apoptosis, endless replication, angiogenesis sustainability, as well as neighboring tissue invasion along
with metastasis are main acquired capabilities of cancer cells. The article s significance depends on its
simplicity to convey information by providing concise methods as to how the cancer cell acquires the
capabilities to turn normal human cells into cancerous one.
The impersonating behavior of tumor cells result in heterotypic signaling thereupon making cancer
cell hyper responsive to encourage more growth. Furthermore, the article suggests that in 25% human
tumor cells, a Ras protein is often found structurally altered. A problem with mutated Ras protein is
that it cannot be phosphorylated hence a prolonged signaling is expected. Despite knowing this, there
is a limitation as to what other growth factors get deregulated in human tumor. For example, one study
found that half of the tumors in human colon carcinomas bear mutant ras oncogenes (Kinzler and
Vogelstein, 1996, p. 59). Thus, the researchers theorized that other half of tumor cell carried defects in
growth signaling

Comparing Cops And The Literary Versions Of The Maltese...
Cops and Chiaroscuro In the film and the literary versions of The Maltese Falcon, cops are portrayed
differently because of the distinct tools available to each media. The written descriptions of the novel
give people on the police force a personality, so that they are humanized. On the other side, the film
creates a cynical depiction of cops, where policemen are less complex humans than the criminals of
the world, so this portrayal makes the film s world appears grimmer than the literary world. In lieu of
written description, the lighting of Huston s The Maltese Falcon (1941) causes the policemen to lack
some of the depth that they had in Hammett s novel of The Maltese Falcon (1929) because the lighting
creates fewer contrasting shadows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In figure 2, Polhaus and Dundy wear nearly identical outfits, they have the same grim expressions, and
they have extremely similar lighting on their faces, clothes, and hands. In figure 3, they both appear
menacing with the same dark lighting and this lighting reinforces the idea that Spade is more
trustworthy than the cops. Figures 2 and 3 illustrate how the individuals in the police force have been
blurred, so that they are nearly the same. It has already been established that the lack of contrast in
shadows on the faces of the cops makes them less complex characters, and since all the cops are
similar, it means nearly all are superficial in a way, and that Spade is more human than all of them
because he is in charge of his own actions and morals. The cops in the film have been transformed
from characters into plot devices and obstacles for Spade to get around. This de characterization of the
police forces people to relate to criminals and morally ambiguous private investigators like Spade. The
world of the film is bleaker than the world of the novel because cops, who are meant to protect and
serve others, have been slightly discredited. Thus, the institutions in the filmic world are seen as
ineffective and unstable, and the audience can only relate to people like Spade who work outside the

Clinically, the oral findings were high arched palate in all cases, malocclusion in 6 cases and
macrostomia in 4 cases while multiple impactions of the teeth were detected in four patients (Gataa,

patients had zygomatic hypoplasia and seven patients had maxillary sinus hypoplasia. Many patients
also had micrognathia and short ramus of the mandible. As only two patients had family history of

This review discussed how Treacher Collins syndrome is caused by a decline in migrating neural crest
cells as determined in the genetic study, which suggested that inhibited p53 gene function could help
to prevent craniofacial anomalies. The decline in migrating neural crest cells then results in many oral
and dental malformations as exhibited in the clinical study, such as a high arched palate, malocclusion,
macrostomia, multiple impactions of the teeth, and cleft palate. The presence of these malformations
has been shown to have a negative correlation on the lives of those diagnosed with the syndrome as
portrayed in the quality of life study. High levels of depression and low levels of quality of life were
seen in patients diagnosed with TCS. Researchers are starting to gain more insight into the causes of
TCS which could help in determining a prevention for TCS. A definitive procedure to prevent TCS,
including what triggers the activation of p53 and the resulting loss of neural crest cells, would be a
significant discovery given the evidence of physical and emotional effects Treacher Collins syndrome

Steps in Banana Shoot-Tip Culture
In this era of science and technology, inventions are being made to improve the economic marketing
especially. One of the new inventions is from agriculture sector, which is plant tissue culture.
Nowadays, banana tissue culture is one of the famous inventions created by agriculturist. Robinson
and Saúco (2010) mentioned that, banana is ranked second among the other fruit in most important
fruit crop since it is high fruit production and high demands in the market. As elaborated by Singh,
Uma, Selvarajan and Karihaloo (2011), there are five steps in banana shoot tip culture namely
selecting of sucker, sterilizing of instruments, medium and environment, introducing the explant to
Murashigee Skoog (MS) medium, sub culturing the callus, and lastly is weaning and hardening of
plantlets. (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1) The first step in banana shoot tip tissue culture technique is
selection of healthy sucker. During this stage, a healthy sucker is chosen when it is about four months
of age. The healthy and young sucker is selected because they have higher rate differentiation, which
helps them to grow rapidly. Then, the outer tissue and the root of the sucker is pared away until the
size of meristem tissue is suitable to the size of petri dish, which is about 1.0 to 2.0 cm diameter
(Singh et al., 2011). Next, the tissue is sterilized with bleach and it is rinsed with distilled water for
three times. The second step is sterilizing of the instruments, medium and environments.

Analysis Of A Gentleman s Life
Tristam Shandy, A Gentleman s Life
Tristam Shandy is the narrator of his own life story. The narrative is similar to an autobiographic
account of his life, but the narrative goes farther than that. It examines his philosophy, provides a
glimpse into the standards and ideals of the early 1700s. The work provides an interesting perspective
on the life of a noble man of his time, At times the narration is humorous. Shandy cannot explain
anything simply, but must embellish the tale with long explanations that wander in and out of the
original topic, eventually arriving at the destination. Shandy uses the piece to rationalize the
misfortunes of his life and to try to find meaning in his personal tragedies. This essay will explore
Shandy s explanations of conception, birth, christening, accidental circumcision, and other
circumstances about his own birth. It supports the thesis that Shandy presents his story because he
feels he must rationalize how the philosophy of his father shaped his own opinions. At the time of
Shandy s conception, it was believed that a traumatic experience or energy out of alignment could
affect the mental and physical traits of a child, and that this imbalance would be present throughout
their entire life. When Shandy was conceived, at the very moment of his conception, his mother asked
his father an off topic question that annoyed and distracted his father, throwing the act out of balance
and setting Shandy up for a life of mishaps and maladies. One

There were advances in astronomy, geography and chemistry, proving that the world was ready for a

Beethoven was born on December 17, 1770 in Bonn, Germany. Bonn was a pleasant city. It was very
old and very rich in tradition. Its location was on the western bank of the Rhine River which offered
protection form intruders.(Marek, 26 7) It was a close knit community and there was a good balance

Impressions of the Meaning and Significance of African...
In his book African Religions and Philosophy professor John Mbiti continually explains that all
African cultures and societies, regardless of differences in national origin, language, or ethnicity are
deeply religious. African traditional religion is so much a part of the African traditional heritage that it
is found in every aspect of life. Traditional religion for the Africans is the normal way of looking at
the world and experiencing life itself. Therefore, as Mbiti interprets, A study of these religious systems
is, therefore, ultimately a study of the peoples themselves in all the complexities of both traditional
and modern life. (p.1). This statement, along with many others similar to it in the first few pages of

Furthermore, it is not unusual for an African Christian to participate in Christian religious practice by
going to church on Sunday and then to participate in African religious practice later on in the same
week.
At first this was something I did not truly understand because in my religion (Judaism) I believe we
are taught to only participate in the practice/rituals of one single faith, the Jewish faith. However, my
confusion was cleared up by professor Mbiti s following explanation:
It is not enough to learn and embrace a faith which is active once a week, either on Sunday or Friday,
while the rest of the week is virtually empty. It is not enough to embrace a faith which is confined to a
church building or mosque, which is locked up six days and opened only once or twice a week. Unless
Christianity and Islam fully occupy the whole person as much as, if not more than, traditional
religions do, most converts to these faiths will continue to revert to their old beliefs and practices for
perhaps six days a week, and certainly in times or emergency and crisis. (p.3)
When evaluating these statements in the context of what I had learned earlier regarding how African
traditional religions permeate every aspect of a person s life, everything in existence has actual or
potential religious significance, and that there is no dichotomy between

pre school age children may require oral surgery if they don t implement the right habits. By teaching
your child to regularly brush and floss now, you can help him or her avoid many dental issues in the
future.
It is not unusual for a parent to doubt the necessity of flossing for a child. This could be a tragic

Here are some tips on flossing from your local dentists:
Why Flossing Is Important: Brushing every day is essential, but it isn t as effective as daily brushing
and flossing. Although a toothbrush works to remove plaque, it cannot reach between the teeth or
underneath the gums. Your child needs dental floss to access those areas. Neglecting to floss enables
harmful bacteria to grow there. That growth may result in many oral health problems.
Display a Chart: Children respond positively to visual cues, so consider hanging a printable flossing
chart with a calendar in your bathroom. You can give your child a sticker to reward him or her for
flossing on a daily basis. Let your child place the stickers on the calendar to reflect every flossing
session.
Floss with Your Child: To further promote this healthy habit, floss with your child every day. Show
your child how to floss, and then, floss your own teeth along with him or her. If you are unsure about
how to demonstrate flossing to your little one, ask your Red Deer dentist for guidance. Your family

around in shock, Neo sees, for the first time, his true surroundings. He is actually living in a human
factory.
At first, Plato says that the Freed Prisoner would be confused at what he saw. He [would] suffer sharp
pains; the glare [would] distress him, and he [would] be unable to see the realities of which in his
former state he had seen the shadows....he d be at a loss and believe that what was seen before is truer
than what is now shown. As for Neo, when he is finally confronted with the truth surrounding the
matrix, Neo is in a state of confusion and denial. In fact, the realization of the true is so overwhelming
that he throws up and passes out.
As pointed out in The Allegory Of The Cave, the Freed Man might even feel that what he was seeing
now was the illusion and the shadows on the wall were actually more real. Like Cypher tells Trinity, I
think the matrix can be more real than this

LSD is sometimes mixed with another hallucinogen, phencyclidine, or PCP. As it can be produced
with a fairly simple process, PCP labs have sprung up in many areas and can be hard to detect.
CLUB DRUGS
Another category of drugs that forensic scientists have to test for and identify is club drugs. Club
drugs are synthetic drugs that are typically used in bars, nightclubs, raves, and other gatherings. Some
of these drugs have become popular in these settings because they are thought to enhance or improve
the experience, although they also have side effects and dangers. Many of these drugs are used
primarily by teens and young adults.
The settings of raves and nightclubs also support the use of these drugs. Their small, often tablet form
make the drugs easy to conceal, and with so many people dancing and moving, individuals who take
the drugs are often not as noticeable as they might be in another setting even when experiencing the
effects of the drug.
Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), or Ecstasy, as it is more commonly known, is one of the
most popular club drugs. Originally patented as an appetite suppressant, this synthetic drug produces
feelings of happiness as well as hallucinations. Chronic use of the drug has serious effects on the body,
including kidney failure, stroke, and seizures.
Another drug found in the club scene that produces feelings of happiness and hallucinations is
ketamine (also known as Vitamin K or Special K), which is also used as an

Research Paper On Les Cours Du Mont Royal
Les Cours du Mont Royal: An Upscale Edifice on Peel Street
Les Cours Mont Royal is one of the contributions of Ross and Macdonald in Canada. This former
home of Mount Royal Hotel has emerged as an upscale commercial arcade in Downtown Montreal.
The commercial building cum condos for sale in Montreal has a rich history since it was completed in
1922 by the famous architectural firm. Its current address is at 1455 Peel Street. Les Cours Mont
Royal was born in the late 1980 s after the original structure of the then Mount Royal Hotel was gutted
by fire. Most of the structural parts of the hotel were destroyed and only the ceiling of the entrance
lobby was left. The living areas of the condos are from 800 to 1,500 square feet, which are open for

The Influence Of Kierkegaard On The Divine Command Theory
To answer the question if Kierkegaard had a restricted or unrestricted view on the divine command
theory I believe we need to take a close look at the divine command theory. In my opinion a great
general summery of what the divine command theory is comes from the pg. 23 the first page of the
chapter.
The divine command theory about to be presented is what we may call an unrestricted view about the
relation between God and morality because it proposes to explain the nature of both the right and the
good terms of God s command (Timmons, 2013). This stands out to me more than anything else in the
chapter, because that one statement outlines the criteria that Kierkegaard must fulfill to either have a
restricted or unrestricted view on the divine command theory. To reentrant and to make where I m
going with this clear; if the divine command theory is unrestricted in its view between God and
morality then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now since the Divine command theory that s a simplistic view of what is right and wrong, good and
bad in the world I think it can easily be deduced what kind of stance Kierkegaard stance is. Within the
context of the theory of divine command, the theory of right conduct and the theory of value is the
direct outline from which the prime directives of the theory of divine command are laid out. From
here it is just a simple matter of taking these rules and applying them to Kierkegaard s examples of
Abraham, Judas, Brutus, Jephtha, The Virgin Marry, and Agamemnon. According to history and the
theory of right conduct in the divine command theory all of the fore mentioned examples were either
doing what they thought was; right, wrong, or possible optional and same can be said, about the theory
of value. Now where

Mermaid Observation
Today was a special day to do my observation paper because it is my anniversary. I got to spend time
with my husband and the share the hands on experience together. We spent almost 2 ½ hours at the
Virginia Aquarium Marine Science Center, located in Virginia Beach, on Saturday, May 6, 2017. This
was a perfect day to observe different ethnicity s groups because it was nice outside with a cool breeze
that blew the crowd into the aquarium. We started our visiting the center ourselves before observing
the different people and their families.
In the beginning, we were undecided on which would a be great place to start to observe without
looking suspicious. Therefore, I choose the Loggerhead Sea Turtles (Caretta caretta) that swam in the
same tank as some baby sharks. The reason why I picked this particular section out of the entire
aquarium was because it had the most beautiful creature that caught your eyes as you walked by. The
Loggerhead sea turtle was a must picture taking while posing in front of the glass exhibit. The
children eyes lit up as this huge sea creature came towards that glass.

What Is Prospero In The Tempest
In Shakespeare s Tempest, Prospero is in complete control of his life and the lives of those around
him. With the help of his spirit Ariel, he bends the weather and the minds of others in order to produce
the exact chain of events that will bring his family back into power after his brother usurped his
dukedom. From the beginning of the play, he has a fairly accurate idea of what will happen and
informs the reader of his plans as the play progresses. However, one detail that Prospero fails to
mention is what the last third of his life consists of. Prospero reveals that one third of his life is his
daughter Miranda while another third is thoughts of his death. The last third is not mentioned which
leaves the reader guessing as to what Prospero deems to be as significant in his life as his daughter and
his death. With his dukedom restored, his enemies at his mercy, and possession of his magic books,
the last third of his life is anything but predictable. Despite his large reliance on magic, it seems that
the rest of Prospero s life is concerned with his ultimate goal of pleasing others. First, one should
establish the scope of the first two thirds that Prospero mentions. In act 4, scene 1, Prospero has given
Ferdinand his daughter Miranda in marriage. In doing so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He specifically states that his daughter and death are two thirds of his life. The last third is concerned
with pleasing others as seen through the forgiving of his brother and giving his daughter to Ferdinand.
These thirds of his life were actually controlling him throughout the play by influencing his actions.
The elaborate plan he devises has the sole purposes of ensuring a good life for his daughter and
pleasing others before he dies. Perhaps Shakespeare is using Prospero to suggest that life truly consists
of only the things that inspire us to act as Prospero breaks his life up into the aspects which make him

Simon s Rising Action In Lord Of The Flies
Lord of the Flies by William Golding, is a story of a group of young boys that gets stuck on an island
together after a plane crash. The rising action of this novel is when ralph blows on the conch to gather
all the boys. The climax is when Simon discovers the Lord of the Flies in the glades and discovers that
the Lord of the Flies is actually an entity that lives within each of the boys. The falling action is when
the adult is spotted by Ralph. Ralph: logical, charismatic, civilized, productive Jack: ego maniac,
savage, violent, power hungry Simon: good, moral, virtuous, noble Simon is a character that, instead
of letting his morals go as soon as they figured out that they were all alone, kept his values and morals
until his death. Simon is the character that discovers the beastie and the true meaning of it. He
recognized that the beastie was not a real serpent, but the evil that lurks in all human beings. He is
killed because he is the good in the world, not recognized by the savage beasts that are humans. ...

Why is Simon the only one to doubt the existence of a beast? ¨His mind was crowded with memories;
memories of the knowledge that had come to them when they closed in on the struggling pig,
knowledge that they had outwitted a living thing, imposed their will upon it, taken away its life like a
long satisfying drink¨ This passage from the fourth paragraph describes how Jack felt and thought
after killing his first pig. It is explaining how Jack began to hunt to feed the group but began to enjoy
it. He actually gained a need to hunt. He needed the power over the life of another life. This quote
connects to the theme because it explains how easy it is for humans to become beasts. Jack embodies
the true savagery and violence of humans. It also is another milestone of the boys changing into
savages. He is also able to gain more power over the group as he becomes more

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day
Introduction The Sonnet 18 Shall I compare thee to a summer s day is around the most admired and
prominent of the 154 poems of William Shakespeare . Most researchers concur that the true recipient
of the lyric, the mate of pleasant toward oneself, whom the artist is composing, is a man, however the
sonnet is generally used to portray a lady. In the piece, the pleasant toward oneself contrasts his
adoration with a June through August, and contends that his affection is superior to summer (Kennedy
Gioia). He additionally states that your beau will live everlastingly through the expressions of the
lyric. Researchers have discovered parallels between this poem and sonnets Tristia and Amores of
Ovid . A few interpretations have uncovered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Medical Practice Initiative
Medical Practice Initiative. One of the main drivers of the Medical Practice Initiative (MPI), aside
from patient safety, is the acquisition, maintenance, and minimization of cognitive and psychomotor
skill decay of healthcare personnel. A primary focus is maintenance of military and medical skills
throughout a caregiver s career (7). There is some crossover between the CCTI and the MPI as both
apply to healthcare providers, but the MPI is more closely tied to Role 3 through Role 5 skills and
procedures as well as common skills and procedures performed by non military healthcare providers
during routine care delivery. Capability gaps addressed and identified as subsets of MPI are: Fostering
Clinical Excellence Competency and Certification; Patient Variation (Anatomical) and Pathology
Scenarios; Training Measurements Metrics and Evaluation Criteria; and Patient Safety. Fostering
Clinical Excellence Competency and Certification There remain many questions regarding how and
why individuals learn. The optimal methods to train and educate an individual need to be studied, as
well as team training for optimal outcomes. Inserting multiple variables into individual training further
complicates the issue. The See One, Do One, Teach One method has been used in the past, however,
with simulation systems, the model should move toward See Many, Do Many, Teach Many as it is
understood that simulation systems are relevant for novices as well as for experts providing

that china is likely to outshine the US economy by 2020 and the BRIC will be one of the G7 by 2032
according to Goldman Sach, 2017. The recent financial simmer evident indicates that these economies

  • 2. Nerds Vs. Nurdle Analysis In this chapter Nerds vs. Nurdles we discuss the beginnings of the other half of the Project Kaisei and a project with the New Horizon ship called the SEAPLEX voyage. This all started due to one of a new generation of ocean researchers named Miriam Goldstein. The chapter goes into enough detail about her origins and why she decided to become an ocean researcher. The young scientist is even quoted of calling herself an accomplished barfer for lack of better words. This is due to her not really being a sea fairing person as her family origins as she put it as, ...we re not really a very outdoorsy family, but she started small in the oceanic research department at the University of California in coastal pollution focusing mainly on knee deep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I mean for crying out loud my computer is made WITH plastic! Also after reading it I have started to feel a little bit of guilt. Not that it has me overly messed up it s just got me asking questions. Such as, How in the world can this issue be reversed? Or Am I compounding the issue with my own consumer notions? Of course I personally find it disturbing that I would even be remotely linked to this issue. But I am. Most all of America is linked to it with the rest of the world following in suit. But I tend to try and put a positive spin on it myself so that maybe just maybe there is a solution. A clean up method that could work, or a better way of using our current materials so as to try and make our economy bounce back and stop or slow this whole water pollution issue. This chapter is now also making me consider whether or not the shrimp I ate at a restaurant awhile ago may have been affected as well. If it did then what effect has it had on me physically? Also, another thought that comes to mind is if it has had any major affects on the U.S. population as a whole? Or if it has anything to do with why our politicians don t seem to do anything remotely right or close to what they say they are going to do. Then there is the fact that FOUR MILLION tons of plastic just up and poof, disappear, every year. That in itself could be a major factor in the U.S. economic crisis as well as a number of other ecological issues as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Pros And Cons Of Edward Snowden In 2010, Snowden took a job as a private contractor at an NSA facility in Japan. He worked for Dell corporation which contracted with the agency. As we know, after 9/11, opportunities for contactors increased as the American security state turned many of its intelligence tasks to private corporations. This job gave Snowden a top secret clearance and greater access to surveillance secrets than he previously had working for the CIA. Like his reaction in the CIA, Snowden seemed even more shocked by what he saw going on in the NSA: I could watch drones in real times as they surveilled the people they might kill. You could watch entire villages and see what everyone was doing. I watched NSA tracking people s Internet activities as they typed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Spanking And Discipline Many people, ages forty or older, grew up in a household where parents disciplined. The two types of discipline was in the form of spanking or Time out. Spanking or Timeout tend to be a structured way of letting a child know that he/she has done something wrong. Many parents used these forms of punishment as a deterrent hoping the child would not make the same mistake twice but instead succeed. The question of what is the best way to discipline depends on what a parent experienced as a child. Different disciplinary can have a huge impact on how successful a child is in the future. Spanking can make a child become more open to violent and depression behavioral, leading to them failing in the future. Jim Sims Giles author of the Child, maternal, and family characteristics associated with spanking stated that spanking can have a long term and short term side effect. Having been spanked as a child and/or adolescent is related to later psychological problems including an increased chance of being depressed and thinking about suicide (Straus, in press), becoming violent and delinquent (Straus, 1991), and experiencing alienation and lower economic achievement. Physical discipline can have an emotional effect on a child opening them up to become depress or turn to violence for relief. Spanking also can have a long term effect on a child s memory. • 6. Design And Analysis Of Control System Structures For... This thesis deals with the design and analysis of control system structures for electric drives equipped with permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) in automotive application. With the increasing popularity of multi level inverters, the room for improvement of the performance of voltage source inverters has continuously been tested for various applications. The rapid development of high switching frequency power electronics in the past decade leads towards wider application of voltage source inverters in AC power generation. Therefore, this prompts the need for a modulation technique with less total harmonic distortion, fewer switching losses, and wider linear modulation range. The present thesis highlights the comparison of the conventional two level inverter and the three level diode clamped inverters for the application in automotive industry. The thesis highlights the DC link balancing control which is the most commonly faced problem in case of a three level diode clamped inverter, with no additional circuit. Modifications of the modulation techniques for the realization of the DC link balancing control have been proposed. Comparison of the total harmonic distortion of the line to line voltages at the outputs of the two and three level inverters has been presented for PWM, SVPWM CB SVPWM techniques. The thesis also deals with the control of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor drive using Field Oriented Control technique. A PMSM drive system based on Field ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Taking a Look at Francis Alÿs Francis Alÿs Francis Alÿs has startled and dumbfounded our contemporary art world time and again. As a Belgian architect turned artist, now residing in Mexico city, Alÿs is able to offer a multi cultural approach to the problems and fallacies of today. Although Alÿs is clearly interested in themes of informal manual labor and homelessness in Mexico, failed promises to assist in the modernizing of Latin America, and society constructed limits in immigration and movement, his work tends to lend itself more towards poetic attitudes and moods of ephemera, instead of adopting a loud and violent feel. His projects rotate around ideas of magical absurdity, which leaves them open to interpretation and moves political and economic crises into landscapes of lyric, where they can be re examined. The most significant question he poses is whether such poetic acts, while underlining the senselessness of particular real situations, can also create a space for new ways of thinking (1). The way that Alÿs works reflects the fluidity of his ideas, he begins with a concept. He has spoken about being influenced by everything from fairy tales and children s book to Belgian Surrealism and early Italian Renaissance painting, and Alÿs has even begun projects based entirely on an anecdote he has happened upon. Then come the projects themselves, which are mostly actions and events. Some of these actions require months of developing and financing, and others are modest and abrupt. Francis will ... • 8. Argumentative Essay On The 13th Amendment By the time the sun barely peeks over the horizon, several others and I have been working the fields for hours. We pick cotton until our fingers bleed. If my first strip isn t done before noon, the whip will come slashing. If I complete my strip and take a break before moving on to the next section, the whip will come slashing. If my legs give out and can no longer support my weight, the whip will come slashing. When I was informed about the new amendment to the constitution tears welled up in my eyes as I took a step towards freedom, or what I thought was freedom. The thirteenth amendment brought forth the idea that slavery would be abolished. However, the congressmen left a loophole in the amendment, allowing slavery to continue, but under another name. The thirteenth amendment was the first to abolish slavery, or so people say. The thirteenth amendment reads, Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude except as punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction, the constitution. This amendment could easily fool people into believing that all was right within the world. However, soon after this amendment was added to the constitution unjust laws started to pop up within the states, When slavery was legally abolished. A new set of laws called Black Codes emerged to criminalize legal activity for African Americans. Through the enforcement of these laws, acts such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Phaethon went to see his father at his palace where his father swore on Styx to grant his son one wish of whatever he desired. He chose to drive his father s chariot and could not be dissuaded though his father warned him of the many dangers. Once he began his journey, the horses realized it was not their owner driving the chariot and went as they pleased, causing them to run into tons of monstrous beasts and terrors. Hercules was short tempered and emotional, resulting in many deaths by his hands, including his music teacher. Hercules was known as a hero despite his many killings, four being his wife and three kids because Hera sent him into temporary madness since she was angry over Hercules being Zeus son. He then went to Athens, but could not stay because he felt as if he needed to be punished for his wrongs. So he set off to Delphi who told him to go to Eurystheus where he would complete twelve labors known as the Labors of Hercules . Hercules felt no reprieve once finished, but lived on with many more adventures and even remarried to a young princess named Deianira (236). Later on Hercules had slayed a friend of his, resulting in punishment by Zeus to be a slave to the Queen, Omphale for a year (or speculation of three). After he was free he set off to kill King Eurytus with an army to defeat the city as well. While Hercules was gone someone told Deianira Hercules was in love with another woman and she sent a robe with blood that she believed would make Hercules love her once again, but only tortured him. • 10. An Example Of Representative Democracy In The UK Democracy means literally rule by people . However, it is a broad and imprecise term. Democracy refers to political systems in which the people are involved in decision making in some way, either directly or indirectly. Direct democracy is when all individuals express their opinion themselves and not through representatives acting on their behalf. An example of direct democracy is a referendum. Representative democracy is a form of democracy in which an individual selects a person (or political party) to act on behalf to exercise political choice. The UK is an example of a representative democracy. There are ongoing debates about how democratic the UK is. The UK has a number of positive democratic features such as; devolved government, independent judiciary, free media, free and fair elections and a wide range of political parties and pressure groups. This is where powers have been transferred from the UK parliament in London to the Scottish parliament in Edinburgh, the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff and the Northern Ireland Assembly in Belfast. This gives power to the local people to make laws better suited to that area. For example, the Welsh Assembly made all prescription medicine free as it benefited the poorest in their community. Therefore, the UK is democratic as power is not held in one place, it is distributed amongst official government bodies. However, there is still an underrepresentation of minority viewpoints due to the voting system. The HOuse of Commons is elected by the first past the post system, which produces a mismatch between the votes cast for UK political parties and the seats that each party wins in parliament. For example in the 2015 general election, UKIP gained 12.6% of votes but only one seat in the House of Commons. Therefore, the UK is undemocratic as it does not accurately represent the views of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There should be a call for stricter regulation of post mortem human tissue. It would seem obvious that what is of paramount value in life would necessarily depreciate in death. This is not true of the human body. With the emergence of biotechnology and the consequent need for post mortem human tissue, the human cadaver has become quite valuable. In pieces and parts or in its entirety, organizations will pay top dollar for the human body, even after it houses the human spirit. Throughout history, civilizations have found uses for the bodies, organs and tissue of the dead. The potential for the human cadaver is ever expanding. Since 1954, human organs have been successfully transplanted into living recipients who would otherwise die. (Ranee Khooshie Lal Panjab) Modern researchers use cadaver tissue to study physiological processes and conduct testing. Clinicians restore transplant recipient functions through procedures that include skin grafts and corneal transplants. Cadavers are essential to medical school anatomy classes, forensic experts measuring body decomposition etc. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) organs worldwide both are legal and illegal, but the use of the organ only decrease half of the actual need. The Treaty was signed after America had won the Mexican American war. America gained possession of the southwest states that had been part of Mexico for the price of around eighteen million dollars. In Article IX of the Treaty, it states that the Mexicans shall be maintained and protected in the free enjoyment of their liberty and property, and secured in the free exercise of their religion without restriction (Vargas 139). Tijerina fought to uphold the Mexican American rights protected by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Tijerina opposed the government for confiscating the Mexican American land illegally. In an open letter from 1969 he writes from the Sante Fe jail. He compares the Mexican struggle with the black struggle in America. The different ethnic groups could not organize as well as they could behind King s strong words. The movement would have had positive effects on the rest of America. In the movie Duel in the Sun (1946), Pearl engages in a shootout in the desert with a man. While in the movie The Outlaw (1943), Rio McDonald ambushes gunfighters in order to avenge her brother s death. Although women often stood in the shadows of their more rugged male counterparts, these movies and characters proved that women were just as rugged as men, shocking the world with their ruthless behavior and unladylike behavior. These Wild West women were pioneers in their own way because they challenged the traditional roles of females, similar to how the present day feminist movement aims for gender equality within a patriarchal society. Present day feminism champions for equal pay in the workplace since according to the National Organization for Women women are paid on average only 77 percent of what men are paid. While in the West women were seeking greater job opportunities, women now are arguing for equal pay to reduce the discrepancies between the genders. Additionally, women are fighting to heal the wounds of rape, acceptance of street harassment, and the generally undermining of female intelligence, ability and strength. Similar to how women in the Wild West were breaking stereotypes and the glass ceiling, present day feminism movement such as the 2017 Women s March argues against patterns that undermine feminine equality and empowerment. This study evaluates the response of Nigerian banks to this new trend and examines the extent to which they have adopted innovative technologies in their operations and the resultant effects. Information and Communication Technology Information Technology (IT) is the automation of processes, controls, and information production using computers, telecommunications, software and ancillary equipment such as automated teller machine and debit cards. It is a term that generally covers the harnessing of electronic technology for the information needs of a business at all levels. Communication is the conveyance or transmission of information from one point to another through a medium. An example of how ICT has had an impact on the Banking Industry is that its emergence allows banks to apply credit scoring techniques to consumer credits, mortgages or credit cards. Hence, products that used to be highly dependent on the banks´ evaluation of its customers have now become more standardized. Other examples of ICT impact on the Banking Industry include the increased process efficiency, which can reduce costs in banks, and the branch renewal, where focus is gradually shifting away from traditional brick and mortar banks towards the dual bank concept ... Decision Systems And Human Computer Interaction Essay On a warm evening after a busy day at the office, I fired up my Laptop to search Big Bang Theory , to learn further about the famous theory. However, all my search results were related to the sitcom. This was astonishing, nevertheless, I checked the next page, the page after that, and so on. Surprisingly, not even a single result pertaining to the intended scientific theory existed in the search result. Only after appending the term science I arrived at the expected result. This made me ponder about underlying intelligent systems at play, including the possible reasons for search engine s failure to present the expected results. This incident was phenomenal in transforming my way of thinking about recommendation systems and Human Computer Interaction. During my senior year (B.E), my focus was mainly towards studying software development and Intelligence in electrical systems (Smart systems). My accomplished projects involved Integrated Smart Meters alongside Schneider Electric and High Voltage Breakdown Automation sponsored by National Instruments which seamlessly implemented Internet of Things. Both projects demanded learning new programming suites as languages such as JAVA and LabVIEW. The Implications Of Prospect Theory The aspects that prospect theory takes into account and the expected utility doesn t, are emphasis on low probability events and protective willingness, which means greater risk aversion for precautionary decisions under risk (Kusev, P., van Schaik, P., Ayton, P., Dent, J. Chater, N. 2009). These are called heuristics and biases in decision making. In this part, other heuristics and biases of framing of the problem, gambler s fallacy and overconfidence will be discussed in depth with respective example and ACAR of its significance on process of making decisions. Firstly, the bias is framing of the problem. When people frame the problem in different ways, it will result in different decision. The example is observed when the description of options in terms of gains (positive frame) rather than losses (negative frame) elicits systematically different choices (Gonzalez, C., Dana, J., Koshino, H. Just, M. 2005). This takes an important place in business decision making. ACAR is made following. Frame (2012) outlines that framing is the first step when people make decisions. Russo and Schoemaker (1989) proves that this bias affects the recognition and response to problems by providing the boundaries (what will be considered part of the choice set), reference points (elements used to determine success and failure), and yardsticks (how the outcomes are measured) . • 24. Rhetorical Speech In Toussaint-Louverture In 1861 Wendell Phillips a white abolitionist wrote a passionate speech about Toussaint Louverture near the beginning of the Civil War. Phillips wrote the speech to persuade Northerners to allow African Americans to join the military. Toussaint Louverture was a former slave turned Haitian general who led a revolt to liberate enslaved Haitians. In the speech Phillips uses rhetorical devices, such as: juxtaposition, logos, ethos, allusions, and antithesis to convince Northerners African Americans are more than capable of serving in the military. Phillips starts his speech by making allusions to past military leaders for instance George Washington, and Napoleon. Phillips alludes to the love France has for Napoleon and the love America has for Washington, which also brings about pathos in Americans. Phillips conveys this through lines like If I stood here tonight to tell the story of Napoleon, I should take it from the lips of Frenchmen, who find no language rich enough to paint the great captain of the nineteenth century. Were I here to tell you the story of Washington, I should take it from your hearts you, who think no marble white enough on which to carve the name of the Father of his Country. Directly after, Phillips states I am about to tell you the story of a Negro who has left hardly one written line. Phillips does this to illustrate just because Washington and Napoleon were highly favored and remembered does not mean those men were more skilled than Toussaint. Toussaint wasn t remembered as being on the same military level of Washington or Napoleon because Toussaint had testimonies written about him by his the British, French, and Spanish. All those countries despised Toussaint because he defeated them in battle, so by Phillips adding these details he hopes it ll make the Northerners realize African Americans have already been talented in military aspects, but the stories went untold because men like Toussaint were hated and lied about by their enemies. Play with fabrics You can also change your look by playing with different fabrics. You might be known for your denim outfits. Perhaps you mainly wear jeans when you go out. So, pick something different such as khaki. Steer away from the fabrics you normally use and opt something different. If you usually have a basic cotton blend blazer when dressing up, swap it to a velvet one from Moss Bros. If you ve never own jeans in your entire life, then get yourself a denim jacket or a pair of Levis jeans. Similarly to the colour thing above, you want to go for the opposite and play with materials you don t normally wear. You can do the same with patterns. If you always wear non patter suites, try picking a pin stripe suit the next time. On the other hand, if your t shirts are and shirts are always patterned, consider opting for simple coloured shirts instead. Find somewhere new to shop Sometimes our sense of style is not just driven by what we think we like to wear but the places we shop. Different stores often embrace different style and if you always shop with the same fashion brand or retailer, you aren t going to end up with unique style.

It is full of intrigue, suspense, questions, and unbelievable events that let the discerning believer in on the awesome power of God s correction, His love, and especially His grace. For some reason Jonah, though a prophet of God who seemingly was willing to follow the Lord s commands, did not adopt the grace attribute of God s character. Jonah was judgmental, as human beings often are, and he could not see past the egregious sin of Nineveh in order to understand the grace and the heart of God. Nineveh was a city saturated with sin. He wanted Nineveh totally destroyed. Jonah did not believed that the Ninevites deserved another chance, possibly because of the ferociousness of their sin, so he decided that he was not going to bring the prophetic word of God before them. Knowing that his words had the power to change people s minds, Jonah did not want even the slightest chance of Nineveh repenting to God (Jonah 1:3). Some ministers in modern day would be wise to revisit the book of Jonah. So many refuse to preach in certain places because they feel the sin is too great, or that God cannot meet the need, or even that they are not the right person to bring the word to that group of people. They will claim, as Jonah did, that the people do not deserve mercy; therefore, it is better to run from the task (and God) than to preach a word that might change the hearts of man. In running from God, readers can see just how stubborn and steadfast in his convictions Jonah was. He boarded a boat to Tarshish hoping foolishly to escape the presence of the Lord (Jonah 1:3). This is an interesting tactic because as a prophet of God, and a very successful prophet at that, Jonah knew that there was no where he could go to escape God. Fluid s Resistance To The Viscosity Of A Fluid Viscosity The viscosity of a fluid of measured by said fluid s resistance to the gradual deformation caused by shear and tensile stress and is identified as a property of a fluid in which opposes the relative motion between two different surfaces of a fluid both moving at different velocities. A fluid that has no resistance to shear stress is known as an inviscid or ideal fluid. Not every fluid is highly or even somewhat viscous though zero viscosity can only be observed at rather lower temperatures but other than that all fluids can be said to have a positive viscosity and technically are said to be viscid and/or viscous. Though a fluid may only be called viscous if the viscosity of this fluid is substantially greater than that of water but it may be deemed mobile if its viscosity is notably less than water. An example of viscosity would be when a fluid is being forced through a tube. The particles that compose the fluid would typically move more quickly near the tube s axis but slower near said tube s walls. There are some stresses in which require overcoming the friction between the particle layers in a fluid to keep said fluid in motion and for a given velocity pattern the stress required must be proportional to said fluid s viscosity. An example of a viscous fluid would be honey, which because of both the high attraction between its particles, and the previously mentioned, resists the urge to flow. A cancerous cell must adapt to various biological, chemical pathways, and modify it to impose its malignant behavior in human s cell. The authors, Douglas Hanahan and Robert A. The cell s autonomy in growth signals, insensivity to growth inhibitory signals, circumvent apoptosis, endless replication, angiogenesis sustainability, as well as neighboring tissue invasion along with metastasis are main acquired capabilities of cancer cells. The article s significance depends on its simplicity to convey information by providing concise methods as to how the cancer cell acquires the capabilities to turn normal human cells into cancerous one. The impersonating behavior of tumor cells result in heterotypic signaling thereupon making cancer cell hyper responsive to encourage more growth. Furthermore, the article suggests that in 25% human tumor cells, a Ras protein is often found structurally altered. A problem with mutated Ras protein is that it cannot be phosphorylated hence a prolonged signaling is expected. Despite knowing this, there is a limitation as to what other growth factors get deregulated in human tumor. The written descriptions of the novel give people on the police force a personality, so that they are humanized. On the other side, the film creates a cynical depiction of cops, where policemen are less complex humans than the criminals of the world, so this portrayal makes the film s world appears grimmer than the literary world. Figures 2 and 3 illustrate how the individuals in the police force have been blurred, so that they are nearly the same. Shandy cannot explain anything simply, but must embellish the tale with long explanations that wander in and out of the original topic, eventually arriving at the destination. Shandy uses the piece to rationalize the misfortunes of his life and to try to find meaning in his personal tragedies. This essay will explore Shandy s explanations of conception, birth, christening, accidental circumcision, and other circumstances about his own birth. It supports the thesis that Shandy presents his story because he feels he must rationalize how the philosophy of his father shaped his own opinions. At the time of Shandy s conception, it was believed that a traumatic experience or energy out of alignment could affect the mental and physical traits of a child, and that this imbalance would be present throughout their entire life. When Shandy was conceived, at the very moment of his conception, his mother asked his father an off topic question that annoyed and distracted his father, throwing the act out of balance and setting Shandy up for a life of mishaps and maladies. There were advances in astronomy, geography and chemistry, proving that the world was ready for a revolution of innovation and excitement. Beethoven was born on December 17, 1770 in Bonn, Germany. Bonn was a pleasant city. It was very old and very rich in tradition. Its location was on the western bank of the Rhine River which offered protection form intruders.(Marek, 26 7) It was a close knit community and there was a good balance between business and recreation. In his book African Religions and Philosophy professor John Mbiti continually explains that all African cultures and societies, regardless of differences in national origin, language, or ethnicity are deeply religious. African traditional religion is so much a part of the African traditional heritage that it is found in every aspect of life. Traditional religion for the Africans is the normal way of looking at the world and experiencing life itself. Therefore, as Mbiti interprets, A study of these religious systems is, therefore, ultimately a study of the peoples themselves in all the complexities of both traditional and modern life. (p.1). Furthermore, it is not unusual for an African Christian to participate in Christian religious practice by going to church on Sunday and then to participate in African religious practice later on in the same week. At first this was something I did not truly understand because in my religion (Judaism) I believe we are taught to only participate in the practice/rituals of one single faith, the Jewish faith. However, my confusion was cleared up by professor Mbiti s following explanation: It is not enough to learn and embrace a faith which is active once a week, either on Sunday or Friday, while the rest of the week is virtually empty. It is not enough to embrace a faith which is confined to a church building or mosque, which is locked up six days and opened only once or twice a week. Unless Christianity and Islam fully occupy the whole person as much as, if not more than, traditional religions do, most converts to these faiths will continue to revert to their old beliefs and practices for perhaps six days a week, and certainly in times or emergency and crisis. (p.3) When evaluating these statements in the context of what I had learned earlier regarding how African traditional religions permeate every aspect of a person s life, everything in existence has actual or potential religious significance, and that there is no dichotomy between ... In fact, even pre school age children may require oral surgery if they don t implement the right habits. By teaching your child to regularly brush and floss now, you can help him or her avoid many dental issues in the future. It is not unusual for a parent to doubt the necessity of flossing for a child. Here are some tips on flossing from your local dentists: Why Flossing Is Important: Brushing every day is essential, but it isn t as effective as daily brushing and flossing. Although a toothbrush works to remove plaque, it cannot reach between the teeth or underneath the gums. Your child needs dental floss to access those areas. Neglecting to floss enables harmful bacteria to grow there. That growth may result in many oral health problems. Display a Chart: Children respond positively to visual cues, so consider hanging a printable flossing chart with a calendar in your bathroom. You can give your child a sticker to reward him or her for flossing on a daily basis. Let your child place the stickers on the calendar to reflect every flossing session. Floss with Your Child: To further promote this healthy habit, floss with your child every day. Show your child how to floss, and then, floss your own teeth along with him or her. If you are unsure about how to demonstrate flossing to your little one, ask your Red Deer dentist for guidance. The Freed Man In Allegory of The Cave, Plato goes on to present the hypothesis that one of the prisoners (who he often referred to as the philosopher or intellectual) would eventually be released or escape from his chains and flee the cave. After turning around in his chair, this philosopher/intellectual would then be able to see the real objects that are casted as only shadows on the cave wall as well as the puppet handlers who are holding these objects. In the movie, The Matrix this scene directly parallels with Neo s scene in the matrix pod. Looking around in shock, Neo sees, for the first time, his true surroundings. He is actually living in a human factory. At first, Plato says that the Freed Prisoner would be confused at what he saw. He [would] suffer sharp pains; the glare [would] distress him, and he [would] be unable to see the realities of which in his former state he had seen the shadows....he d be at a loss and believe that what was seen before is truer than what is now shown. As for Neo, when he is finally confronted with the truth surrounding the matrix, Neo is in a state of confusion and denial. In fact, the realization of the true is so overwhelming that he throws up and passes out. As pointed out in The Allegory Of The Cave, the Freed Man might even feel that what he was seeing now was the illusion and the shadows on the wall were actually more real. CLUB DRUGS Another category of drugs that forensic scientists have to test for and identify is club drugs. Club drugs are synthetic drugs that are typically used in bars, nightclubs, raves, and other gatherings. Some of these drugs have become popular in these settings because they are thought to enhance or improve the experience, although they also have side effects and dangers. Many of these drugs are used primarily by teens and young adults. The settings of raves and nightclubs also support the use of these drugs. Their small, often tablet form make the drugs easy to conceal, and with so many people dancing and moving, individuals who take the drugs are often not as noticeable as they might be in another setting even when experiencing the effects of the drug. Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), or Ecstasy, as it is more commonly known, is one of the most popular club drugs. Originally patented as an appetite suppressant, this synthetic drug produces feelings of happiness as well as hallucinations. Chronic use of the drug has serious effects on the body, including kidney failure, stroke, and seizures.

The Influence Of Kierkegaard On The Divine Command Theory To answer the question if Kierkegaard had a restricted or unrestricted view on the divine command theory I believe we need to take a close look at the divine command theory. In my opinion a great general summery of what the divine command theory is comes from the pg. 23 the first page of the chapter. The divine command theory about to be presented is what we may call an unrestricted view about the relation between God and morality because it proposes to explain the nature of both the right and the good terms of God s command (Timmons, 2013). This stands out to me more than anything else in the chapter, because that one statement outlines the criteria that Kierkegaard must fulfill to either have a restricted or unrestricted view on the divine command theory. With the help of his spirit Ariel, he bends the weather and the minds of others in order to produce the exact chain of events that will bring his family back into power after his brother usurped his dukedom. From the beginning of the play, he has a fairly accurate idea of what will happen and informs the reader of his plans as the play progresses. However, one detail that Prospero fails to mention is what the last third of his life consists of. Prospero reveals that one third of his life is his daughter Miranda while another third is thoughts of his death. The last third is not mentioned which leaves the reader guessing as to what Prospero deems to be as significant in his life as his daughter and his death. With his dukedom restored, his enemies at his mercy, and possession of his magic books, the last third of his life is anything but predictable. Despite his large reliance on magic, it seems that the rest of Prospero s life is concerned with his ultimate goal of pleasing others. In the piece, the pleasant toward oneself contrasts his adoration with a June through August, and contends that his affection is superior to summer (Kennedy Gioia).
