Its time for me to share my opinion and perspective regarding the Supreme Court ruling on gay
marriages. Forewarning, this post will be long because I have more than just an opinion to express, but
rather a story to tell which will enlighten anyone who chooses to read this as to what my true
perspective and opinion regarding gay marriages. (and gay people in general as a Christian)
A few months ago I faced a difficult time in my life. I was homeless and I had nowhere to stay with
my newborn baby. To my dismay, there was no family who would have the ability to take me in. They
had helped me enough in their eyes regarding sheltering me, so I was abruptly kicked out of my
grandmothers house I was staying in and face the option to find shelter in a homeless shelter.
But let me back up a second. A couple weeks before my life made a turn for the worse, I met a girl on
Facebook who was a photographer. We collaborated together on eventually meeting up to take
pictures of my newborn, however, at that time I did not have any money because I was on maternity
leave and not working.
Looking at her beautiful work as a photographer, I knew one day I would have her take pictures of my
baby I just did not know when.
Then suddenly one day she messaged me and offered me free pictures of my newborn in exchange of
being able to build her newborn portfolio.

During July of this past summer, I had the experience of a lifetime at Palmetto Girls State. I spent a
week getting to know so many different girls and making friendships that still last today, all while
learning about South Carolina s government and political system. On the first night there we had to
vote for our city offices, although we had all just met each other, I won mayor for my city. That only
required talking in front of about fifteen girls; which I had no problem with and was completely
comfortable doing. After that I knew the competition would get more intense and I had to step up my
game if I wanted to win a congressional election. We would have city meetings every night to share
our plans for the week, and to share any struggles we were having. My counselor told us that we could
come to her if we needed any help preparing speeches or campaigning. All the girls were talking about
who was running for what position, but some said they didn t want to even run. Up next came the
county elections; which although was a larger group of girls, didn t stop me from going up there and
