Support Group field experience Essay
Compulsive gamblers groups were of high interest to me, because my father was an obsessive
gambler. The group was spearheaded by a lady who is a LPC. In Gam Anon the member will
experience relief from anxiety by accepting the fact of powerlessness over the problem in the family.
The heavy load of responsibility for the gambling problem is lifted and the agonizing guilt in regard to
failures is gradually alleviated. The energy wasted in attempts to stop loved ones from gambling can
be channeled into more useful methods of problem solving. The group meets every Thursday. The
only requirement for membership is a desire to stop gambling. There are no dues or fees for Gamblers

I believe that some of the group members will leave differently than before they arrived because of
this particular program and group, The theoretical framework was somewhat dictatorship on today; I
learned that the tone that the facilitator sets for the majority of the session is how the session runs.
This is actually how I figured the sessions would be run, but to be aware that always expect the
unexpected at any time. You must also be ready to adjust to whatever it is happening at that particular
moment. This particular session appears to be more somber with quite a bit of silence and skepticism.
Why this climate I asked myself? I really don t know. I would suggest to the facilitator to have some
kind of activity that she uses as an icebreaker. This would help get the communication going between
the members. A specific skill that I have that would hinder me as an effective group leader is my
ability to shut down once I got ticked off. This skill is useful in other settings to cool down situations.
My last observation session began with the group leader introducing all members present. She also
announced to the group that this was my last time attending. This stage of the sessions was supposed
to be more intense because this was a 6 week program. The group leader was going to be more of a
facilitator during this process allowing the

Sarin Attack In Japan
On March 20th 1995, in Japan s capital of Tokyo was fell victim to a chemical agent attack by the
terrorist group Aum Shinriko. The group, which at its high water mark, numbered an estimated 50,000
members after the attack, was found to have been able to produce enough sarin to kill more than four
million people. (Wright 2008) Members of this group, faithfully followed the orders of their leader
Shoko Asahara and launched the chemical attacks against civilians in the Tokyo subway system.
Twelve people were killed by the gas, and thousands were injured, and experts have suggested that if
the five men who carried out the attack had better understood how to distribute Sarin properly,
thousands could have died (Crime Museum, n.d.). This nerve

Behavior observed in each primate Patas Monkey They are very fast and can be able to run within
short distances using the most minimal time. It takes less than 10 seconds to run within a distance of
approximately 100 meters. While the animals move around they try to monitor the environment as
quadrupedally and monitoring of the environment can be able to take as much as up to ten minutes in
any case they have doubts of where they are, this alerts them of any predators. Consortship is a
situation where the two animals would stay close to each other and monitor the movement and
environment of each other. This is done as long as the animals are out in an environment that is not

They are clean primates that like grooming, and while observing them in the morning they would
groom each other for about 10 minutes. They clean the hair of one another using their fingers. Just like
any other primates, the Siamangs also do sleep, and based on the observation that I had they sleep for
up to around 8hours. They sleep alone with one individual hurdled on each other on the tree trunk,
sitting up right. The male and female have a throat sac which they inflate in order to make a defining
sound, this takes place within seconds. The sacs are important in making their call even much louder
than the rest of the gibbons. Brachiating; this is the movement that is used by the Siamags to move

With growth of interest in sport in the 19th century, and the organization °f annual and traditional
sport competitions, especially between schools and universities, the idea arose of reviving the
Olympic Games in the modern world. A Frenchman, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, was the enthusiast
whose personal drive and initiative brought about the inauguration of the modern Olympic Games in
1896 with the participation of 311 athletes from thirteen countries, competing in nine sports. At first,
the modern Games were limited to men. Women first competed in the Games in 1910, playing golf,
but real women s participation only began in Paris in 1924 with the inclusion of women s athletics in
the program. Winter sports were brought into the Olympic program through the organization of special
winter Games, first held in France at Chamonix in 1924, with competitions in ice hockey, speed
skating, figure skating, and skiing. These are still the basic events of the winter program, with the
addition of bobsled and toboggan races. The most impressive event of the opening ceremony of the
Games is the taking of the Olympic oaths. First a representative athlete from the host country, holding
a corner of the Olympic flag, takes the following oath on behalf of all the participants: In the name of
all competitors, I promise that we will take part in these Olympic Games,

Jeremy Bentham and the United Nations
Jeremy Bentham and the United Nations: Jeremy Bentham is generally considered the father of
Utilitarianism. As a doctrine that seeks to maximize pleasure and minimize pain, Utilitarian thinkers,
including Bentham, would approve of any organization or set of practices that have the tendency to do
so. The United Nations is such an organization. Bentham firmly believed world governance was
possible, at least under his utilitarian system (Pitts 212). The community is a fictitious body, composed
of the individual persons who are considered as constituting as it were its members, (Bentham 1823,
586). In this quote Bentham refers to how single communities are merely collections of individuals.
Since the distinctions between individuals are arbitrary the only objective grouping of people is to
include the entire world population. As Bentham saw borders as imagined, he would approve of the
coming together of humanity that the United Nations fosters. With its border crossing initiatives of
conflict resolution and humanitarian aid, the United Nations is a source of good in the modern world
and one that Bentham would endorse if he were here to do so, albeit with some concerns and
recommendations. The United Nations primary goal stated in Article One, Section One of the
organization s charter is [t]o maintain international peace and security . So far as the United Nations
achieves this goal, Bentham would be in complete approval as war and conflict are great causes of

Toaster Oven Essay
We have all had days where we just need one little piece of toast browned to perfection and not have
to turn on an entire oven and heat up the whole kitchen in the process. Or other times when you have a
house full coming over, and it seems as if you need just more oven rack to bake the rolls on or to keep
a dish warm while the meat finishes up cooking. Or maybe, it is a summer evening and a pizza sounds
amazing except the kitchen is still blazing from a record setting heat wave blasting through, and the
last thing you want to do is generate more heat in your kitchen.
The list of examples could go on and on as to why a toaster oven is an extremely essential kitchen
appliance to own alongside your conventional oven. Its small size, versatile ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Along with saving money on energy because of its stature, the small size allows the toaster oven to fit
just about anywhere in the kitchen. Due to its compact size, a toaster oven can sit on top of other
appliances or on countertops, making it an easy appliance to place in the kitchen.
The size you choose determines what items you can cook inside. Obviously, the larger the toaster
oven, the higher the cost. However, considering you can use your toaster oven in much the same way
you can use a conventional oven, investing in a larger toaster oven is prudent.
Different Cooking Elements
Toaster ovens have various cooking elements, depending on what you are looking for. Many of them
come with a convection function. This means generated heat is continually circulated throughout the
oven by means of a fan. The movement creates an even cooking environment, ensuring that the top
and the bottom are cooked evening. That means heat spots are eliminated: one area of a pan of cookies
does not cook more than another. Convection ovens also cut cooking down by almost a third, saving
you not only time but also electricity and of course,

A Speech At Texas s State Capitol
On July 1, 2013, Texas Senator Wendy Davis made a speech at Texas s State Capitol. She had an
audience of about 5,000 people, as she spoke about Women s Rights and Texan power. In Stand with
Texas Women , Wendy Davis argues that Texas is all about fairness, so women deserve equal
opportunity. Specifically, Davis states that Texas has pushed to be fair, but politicians have been
selfish in their careers. Her point is that creating equal opportunity for women will help not only
Texan families, but Texas as a whole. She also points out that Texas needs politicians who want what
is best for the state and the people. Overall, Davis s main purpose is to unite Texan women in order to
make equal opportunity to improve Texans quality of life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The importance of the date of the Stand with Texas Women speech is that it was only a few days after
her filibuster at the senate. She was trying to reach out to the women who felt regretful about their
abortions. She was trying to further her points from the filibuster, by talking directly to the Texas
women who attended the rally. As she stood in front of 5,000 men and women at the Texas Capitol,
she stood in front of a much larger audience than expected. Her speech targeted women and men
wanting a better life for them and their families. During the weekend before she spoke Rick Perry,
knowing she is a single mother accused her of not learning her lesson (Koh, Luthra). He was pushing
her to a limit that she did not appreciate. She attacked him in her speech by stating I was lucky enough
to be able to make the choices in my life that I knew would work for me. And I don t regret for one
minute my decisions about my daughters, my education or my direction in life. She pushed through
what Rick Perry said about her, by showing her strength in her speech about her past. As abortion
rights lay as a big issue, she makes a statement about the issue in the speech. She suggested a better
way of limiting unwanted pregnancy by suggesting investing in good family planning services and
honest, effective, age appropriate sex education rather than regulating abortion. At the rally, a few

Clinician Psychodynamic Theory Paper
Introduction Theories inform many activities that social workers use within their practice. It provides
a lens that allows the clinician to understand the client s needs in a different way, depending on what
theory is being acknowledged. This paper explores three theories, and how they informed projects
performed within the Department of Family Services. Additionally, the strengths and limitations of
each theory are also documented. While no theory fits in to every situation within the social work
practice, each has a concept or quality that can improve overall practice and understanding of the
client s being served.

The theory is considered revolutionary due to it s life span model of human development that included
eight psychosocial stages. He purposed that in each stage there is a conflict or crisis that the individual
must successfully settle to continue with their development. Erikson also believed that external and
internal forces had significant contributions to how successful an individual s development would be
(Sokol, 2009). The theory is broad and assists in the understanding of development across the lifespan.
Additionally, it takes in to consideration both social and biological factors. The theory has some
criticism as well. Often labeled as vague, some feel the theory is not specific enough and is difficult to
test. Furthermore, other perspectives are that the theory needs to elaborate on how culture impacts the
developmental stages (Zhang,

An Unequal Distribution Of Wealth And Power Across The Nation
Living in America, I have always been aware of fact that there is an unequal distribution of wealth and
power across the nation. However, I was unaware that there is such a significant gap between the rich
and the poor. It was made clear in the video Wealth Inequality in America , that the top 1% has more
power and wealth than the middle and poor classes. The rich can get away with not paying their taxes
and sitting on their pile of free money. In the meantime, the poorest people are down to the loose
change in their pockets and are still paying their taxes. Corporations today have more privileges in
America, including a voice in the democracy. People like us are being excluded from important
decision making regarding our economic lives. Our understanding of what s going on with the wealth
distribution and the actuality of what s going on is two completely different things. So you may ask,
what s the reason behind this inequality? The answer is corporations and big businesses. Corporations
such as Bank of America, Nike, Google, Apple, and Microsoft are rising to power. Corporations have
also completely diminished the original intent of our Founding Fathers. According to Collin and
Yeskel s Economic Apartheid in America , it s sad to say that many Americans are unaware of these
things and it s starting to affect us as a country day by day. But while the truth of the economy may be
difficult to understand, Collins, Yeskel, and Perkins clarified and changed my views on the

Network Neutrality or Network Tier?
Network neutrality has offered entrepreneurs the ability to start up a new business using the internet as
a passage for advertising and gaining a customer base. It has allowed for individuals to surf the World

Listeria Monocytogenes
Description
Listeria monocytogenes is a gram positive motile facultative anaerobe that inhabits a variety of
environments. Using selective media it can be readily isolated from soil, water, vegetation and
processed products, including ready to eat products designated for human consumption (Graves et al.,
1992). The bacterium was named monocytogenes because one distinguish characteristic of infection in
rabbits, which was the production of monocytosis in blood (Shuin et al., 1982).
L. monocytogenes is phychrophilic, has a temperature for growth of 0°C to 45°C (Barbosa et al.,
1994), and enjoys a competitive advantage against other gram positive and gram negative

monocytogenes. Pasteurization effectively inactivates this organism. However, fluid milk that is
contaminated after pasteurization and stored under refrigeration may achieve very high populations of
L. monocytogenes after one week; Furthermore, temperature abuse may enhance the multiplication of
bacterial cells. L. monocytogenes can also be found in cheese because of its relative hardiness to
temperature fluctuations, ability to multiply at refrigeration temperature and salt tolerance. During
manufacturing process, L. monocytogenes is primarily concentrate in the cheese curd, with only a
very small portion of cells appearing in the whey. Then, during ripening of the cheese, the numbers of
cells may increase (Camembert), decrease gradually (Colby or cheddar), or decrease rapidly (blue
cheese) and then stabilize. In addition, cooked and ready to eat meat and poultry products have been
implicated as the source of sporadic and epidemic listeriosis on several occasions in North America
and Europe (Schwartz et al., 1989). L. monocytogenes attaches strongly to the surface of raw meats
and is difficult to remove or inactivate. The multiplication in meat and poultry depends on the type of
meat, pH, and the type of cell populations of competitive flora (Farber et al., 1999). However, it has
been shown that poultry supports the growth of L. monocytogenes better than other meats.

Sexual Abuse And Child Abuse
Sexual abuse to a child can be a confusing and devastating experience for the family. Families who are
affected by child sexual abuse can have a difficult time talking about the abuse. Studies have shown
that about one out of every four girls and one out of every five boys are sexually abused by the time
they are 18 years old.
Sexual abuse to children does not discriminate based on socioeconomic status, ethnicity, culture,
religion or education. Treating a victim of child sexual abuse is a difficult process because of the lack
of trust the child will have for authoritarian figures. Often times when child sexual abuse occurs the
family members have a hard time acknowledging or even believing the abuse occurred, which can
lead to the family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most disturbing fact is how many reports
of child abuse go unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the abuse, and not wanting to
get their offender in trouble.
Children between the ages of three to five years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a
victim of sexual abuse. Children need to have supervision at all times, especially during times like
changing clothes and bathing. If unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives,
babysitters, etc. The second risk factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child
isn t getting any attention from the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The
perpetrator will offer to buy the child things that the family can t, listen to the child s problems and
gain their trust. The level of education plays a role, if the child is raised by a single parent and/or if the
parents have marital problems. Once trust is established this is when the perpetrator will sexually
abuse a child. Lastly, the final part is how well the child knows the perpetrator. The abuse of the child
usually has occurred for a long time due to the close relationship between the child and perpetrator.
The perpetrator will groom the child and his/her family by doing things for them, which the abuser has

College Benefits In College
When I was in school, my mother stressed education. I am so glad she did. I graduated from Yale
College and Yale University with my master s and I didn t do it by missing school (Angela Bassett).
Everyone has their own experience in college whether good or bad. School is home to me, ever since
Middle school after I finally grasped the art of studying. In high school I thought attending either a
two year or four year college consisted of me working hard to achieve a degree that would in turn help
me land a job. Not only would I walk away with a degree to help me out when it came down to
looking for a job, but the useful and successful skills would also come in handy. But, in my freshman
year really open my eyes to see that college is so much bigger than what I originally thought. Earning
an education enables us to succeed academically, make better career choices and build self confidence

Milky Way Photography Analysis
Although shooting the sky, including scenes, such as the Milky Way, may seem impossible; it is in fact
fairly easy depending on location and timing. In Gavin Hardcastle s How to do Milky Way
Photography tutorial he thoroughly explains how the importance of positioning of the camera, moon,
and timing of seasons, can all affect the shot. The most important tip to remember is where the Milky
Way is positioned; it is best when it is positioned in the southeast and is best seen in the southern
hemisphere between February to October. Phone apps, such as Stellarium, can help better determine
the location of the Milky Way so the photographer can plan where to shoot. Although the Milky Way
is more visible in the southern hemisphere, anyone can take

Kwanzaa Book Review
Saint (1997) wrote a book to introduce children to the significance of the African American holiday of
Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is a non religious cultural holiday based upon the ancient customs of Africa. The
holiday was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga and is the first original African American
holiday dedicated to African culture and spirituality (Saint, 1997). Additionally, the holiday is a time
where African Americans honor the traditions of their African ancestors. According to Walter (1996),
Dr. Karenga created the holiday based on the harvest festivals of several African cultures. Harvest
celebrations were traditional throughout Africa and were a time where people gave thanks for the first
fruits of their harvest (Walter, 1996). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Saint (1997) used visual imagery to convey a message and assist the reader in
consciously and unconsciously relating the certain colors used in the book to the principles of
Kwanzaa and thus, later fostering a sense of pride whenever the colors are seen. For example, Saint
(1997) used the colors red, black, and green throughout the book to help children identify these colors
as symbols of the Holiday. Therefore, when the child later sees the colors they will automatically
relate the colors to the holiday, which will in turn assist the child in remembering the pride instilling
principles expressed by the holiday. Saint (1997) also explained in detail the significance of Kwanzaa
as well as the importance and meaning of its seven principles. Also, in order to clarify the meaning of
the principles, Saint (1997) explained the principles in writing as well as with a corresponding picture.
This in turn, provided the child with a visual representation to identify with the written explanation.
Additionally, Saint (1997) used phonetic spelling in addition to the standard spelling in order to help
the reader pronounce the African principles correctly. Overall, Saint (1997) did an excellent job of not
only introducing African American children to their African culture, but also attempting to instill a
sense of cultural pride and

Understanding the Practices of Hinduism Essay
Religion is a powerful yet sensitive subject in many parts of the world. It is powerful in the sense that
it gives a person comfort in their beliefs and practices. A particular religion that reflects the acceptance
of a person s own beliefs and practices would be Hinduism. Hinduism is one of the oldest religions
that exist in our world today. It is widely practiced all over the world, especially in the west.
Sometimes Hinduism can be misunderstood, as some people don t really know how to interpret
Hinduism. What exactly is Hinduism? Exploring the many themes of this particular religion helps
answer the many questions that are raised by others. As mentioned earlier, Hinduism is one of the
oldest religions that still exist today. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Brahmanas consisted of the rituals and rites of Hinduism. Sometimes the Aranyakas are
considered parts of the Brahmanas, but it seems to focus more on the philosophy of the life of
humankind. The Upanishads are considered the concluding part of the Vedas, which is usually referred
to as the Vedanta. There are many times that some may consider the Vedas and Upanishads separately,
but essentially the Upanishads represent many more important ideas/thoughts in the Epic period. The
Vedas are viewed as the spiritual literature of the ancient Indian culture. As previously mentioned, the
Upanishads are another important part of Hindu history as they were focused on in the Epic period.
The Upanishads are considered a concluding part of the Vedas, or referred to as the Vedanta, but this is
when many of the core thoughts of Hinduism started to develop. It is said that the Upanishads is made
up of mostly dialogue between a master and his disciple. It has brought forth many of the concepts
that are central to Hinduism today, such as karma, moksha, samsara, atman and the Brahman. The
Upanishads was when the very descriptions of the absolute Brahman, or the almighty, came about.
Yoga and meditation were introduced during this time period. This era was important, as it was able to
introduce spiritual vision as well as provide a philosophical argument. The third time period, which is
referred to as the Sutras

Misfolded Proteins
F. The role of prions in BSE is to trigger proteins in the brain to fold abnormally. These prions are
formed by abnormally folded protein that causes neurodegenerative conditions, similarly to that of
Alzheimer s disease. These misfolded proteins tend to clump together, or aggregate, because of their
shape. This disease has no known cause but is generally associated with the ingestion of meat from
cows who already have BSE. Chaperone proteins in BSE are used to (possibly) refold the misfolded
proteins into their correct forms. This may be true because in a normal cell, chaperone proteins
promote the correct folding of their substrate proteins by unfolding the incorrect polypeptide chain
conformations and providing a sequestered environment

Civility In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
Noah A. Shelanski
Fritz
English 2H Set 6
26 October 2017
An Anticipated Evolution: Civility to Barbarism in the Children of Lord of the Flies There are many
laws and unspoken and logical rules that keep society civil. In the beginning of Lord of the Flies,
Roger finds himself throwing minuscule stones at the younger boys, however missing them, due to the
conditioning of society. This is a result of the little boys being protected by policemen, parents, school
and the law. It is also evident and true that there are other factors that allow for civility to prosper in
humanity, some of which are present on the island with the boys, but some factors are extremely
scarce. But it is when these factors are mostly absent or diminish, that the idea and foundation of
civilization will weaken or fade. William Golding allows symbols to show a complex, yet beautiful
and convincing transition from a theme of civility and order, to one of savagery and also moral
depravity. The reason for this new theme being that the boys are faced with an internal danger; the true
nature of humanity, which fuels the drastic change from innocent boys who abide by rules to rabid
animals. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, while the conch symbol best conveys the influence of
the adult world on the boys, the conch symbol, paired with the pig hunt motif best conveys the theme
of regression into savagery. Although the island lacks an adult authority figure, the conch symbolizes
the adult world. Since

Why Is Skidmore Guilty
In real true court cases there is always evidence that can be shown and provided to the jury in order to
persuade peoples opinions in finding someone guilty or not guilty. In this case, I am very influenced in
believing that Skidmore if found guilty in poisoning his brother. The author, Paul Haven, has an
outstanding perspective to influence the readers. In the excerpt, The Curse of the Poisoned Pretzel ,
there are several ideas that are conveying the audience to believe that Skidmore is guilty of poisoning
his brother Manchester.
To begin, the first significant example for proving that Skidmore is guilty is that he was the only
person that didn t like Manchester. Skidmore has a burning hatred for his brother, some people could
say he is jealous due to everyone s love for him. In the excerpt, The Curse of the Poisoned Pretzel , it
states, Everyone loved Boddlebrooks. Everyone, that is, except his younger brother, Skidmore by this
statement it simply proves that he is the only person that could possibly hate his brother enough to
commit such an action to poison such a loving and caring guy. No one else could have possibly done
the crime except Skidmore, this is a prime example on why people believe he is guilty. Everyone ...

One of the reasons that Skidmore loathes Manchester is because Manchester absolutely loves bubble
gum. Everything that Manchester loves has to do with bubble gum, even his mansion is painted his
favorite bubble gum flavor. Despite how much Manchester loves bubble gum, Skidmore despises it
mainly because of how allergic he was to bubble gum. The excerpt mentions, Skidmore saw his
brother s sweet, chewable candies as a personal insult This shows that he hated his brother and that he
most likely poisoned his brother due to the fact that he couldn t be around him because of how deathly
allergic he is to his bubble gum fanatic

Essay On Nursing And Rehabilitation Facilities In Tennessee
Two brand new state of the art nursing and rehabilitation facilities were recently built, in Tennessee,
by a multimillionaire. The first nursing and rehabilitation facility was built, in East Tennessee
surrounded by, ten privately owned nursing and rehabilitation centers. The second, nursing and
rehabilitation facility is located, in West Tennessee surrounded by, ten company owned nursing and
rehabilitation facilities. The multimillionaire, moved to Tennessee from New York City, a year ago.
After experiencing continued success with the five nursing and rehabilitation centers in New York
City. Now, with all the success the multimillionaire has had in New York it was time to grow and
expand. The Multimillionaire thought about the expansion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sample groups from these states with nursing and rehabilitation centers all received online web
surveys (Mirabella, 2011). The multimillionaire took into consideration that there was going to be a
difference in the results, of the samples (Mirabella, 2011). The whole idea was for the results to be
relatively close to the truth and to have confidence in the results (Mirabella, 2011). The
multimillionaire could have taken the easy way out and randomly stopped at ten nursing and
rehabilitation centers, in the area (Mirabella, 2011). With the data, information gathered computed the
mean price for room and services (Mirabella, 2011). However, it is doubtful the mean would equal the
population mean (Mirabella, 2011). By performing sample online web surveys of different locations,
the multimillionaire would come closer to the true means (Mirabella, 2011). Once the sample means
established, along with the margin of error a confidence interval can be computed (Mirabella, 2011).
Confidence intervals can be computed for any level of confidence typically, 95% confidence intervals
are used to understand population mean (Schindler, 2016). However, confidence levels of 90% and
99% can also be used to decrease or increase the level of confidence (Schindler, 2016). A 90%
confidence interval, means that there is a 90% chance the confidence interval includes the sample
mean (Schindler, 2016).

Phoebe Pyncheon Character Analysis

The inhabitants of the House of The Seven Gables appeared to be most affected by Phoebe s visit. It is

Personal Narrative-My Hero s Journey To Freedom
We watch Him gain His power legally, through the system. We watch as He turns us against the ones
we used to call our friends. We watch Him use the Proclamation, a way to weed out those who didn t

only to be sent back. We watch other countries turn their backs to us like we did them. We watch as
we slowly, but surely, end up alone.
Through all this, I try and work by myself. After the last attempt, most people are too afraid to try and
rebel publicly, so we hide in the shadows. My main goal for months has been to recruit those on the
outskirts of society and send them the resistance s way. The scientists, the activists, the ones with

Phenylcyanamide derivatives can be readily prepared in high yields from the corresponding anilines

The identification of C N vibrations is a very difficult task, since mixing of several bands is possible
in this region. Silverstein and Webster [18] assigned C N stretching absorption in the region 1382

Polymer
In this study, polymer of [AgL]n was immobilized onto the surface of a glassy carbon electrode
(GCE), which leads to the efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of Dibucaine and Naphazoline. The GCE
was previously tested in PBS buffer (pH = 3) before polymer were drop coated on it. It presented no
redox process in the potential range applied. The working electrode coated with polymer of [AgL]n
was immersed in the electrolyte solution for 20 min prior to the measurement to ensure the diffusion
of the solution to the interlayer space and permit better ionic exchange. The cyclic voltammograms
were recorded for Dibucaine and Naphazoline at modified electrode and are shown in Fig.4. As it can
be seen, at the surface of the modified electrode, oxidations of Dibucaine and Naphazoline are
irreversible processes. These results indicate that the electron transfer rate is quite slow. Such slow
electron transfer kinetics is due to the electrode fouling caused by the evidence of Dibucaine and
Naphazoline and their oxidation products.
In addition, at modified electrode, oxidation of these compounds resulted in a typical

Autistic Children Essay
Throughout my research, I have discovered that all autistic children have specific individualized
characteristics and that both programs are equally stressful because both require IEP for their students
even though special education has it for all and not just a fraction of their children. A successful
special education program requires research supported practices that include individualized
assessment of a child s skills and strengthens, interests, and needs. It includes intense treatment, low
adult child ratios, and highly structured and individualized intervention programs and its goal would
be to improve and increase the child s social and language skills as well as to reduce/ minimize

But based on the research conducted this is only proven under certain conditions. The main condition
is that integration should be based on the individual needs of the student. This means that child
movement relies solely on social and academic readiness. Socal readiness is characterized by
impairments in social interactions, communication, and behavior. Some social issues include the
dislike for being touched, the inability to look others in the eye, being more interested in objects than
people, and not being able to make friends or play with others. When it comes to communication these
individuals have the inability to socialize properly, and difficulty with verbal and nonverbal
communication. Nonverbal communication is defined as the understanding of body language,

can also be found in the autistic children. This causes these individuals to have impulses to do certain

  • 2. Support Group field experience Essay Compulsive gamblers groups were of high interest to me, because my father was an obsessive gambler. The group was spearheaded by a lady who is a LPC. In Gam Anon the member will experience relief from anxiety by accepting the fact of powerlessness over the problem in the family. The heavy load of responsibility for the gambling problem is lifted and the agonizing guilt in regard to failures is gradually alleviated. The energy wasted in attempts to stop loved ones from gambling can be channeled into more useful methods of problem solving. The group meets every Thursday. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop gambling. There are no dues or fees for Gamblers Anonymous membership; we are self supporting through our own ... I believe that some of the group members will leave differently than before they arrived because of this particular program and group, The theoretical framework was somewhat dictatorship on today; I learned that the tone that the facilitator sets for the majority of the session is how the session runs. This is actually how I figured the sessions would be run, but to be aware that always expect the unexpected at any time. You must also be ready to adjust to whatever it is happening at that particular moment. This particular session appears to be more somber with quite a bit of silence and skepticism. Why this climate I asked myself? I really don t know. I would suggest to the facilitator to have some kind of activity that she uses as an icebreaker. This would help get the communication going between the members. A specific skill that I have that would hinder me as an effective group leader is my ability to shut down once I got ticked off. This skill is useful in other settings to cool down situations. My last observation session began with the group leader introducing all members present. She also announced to the group that this was my last time attending. This stage of the sessions was supposed to be more intense because this was a 6 week program. The group leader was going to be more of a facilitator during this process allowing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The group, which at its high water mark, numbered an estimated 50,000 members after the attack, was found to have been able to produce enough sarin to kill more than four million people. (Wright 2008) Members of this group, faithfully followed the orders of their leader Shoko Asahara and launched the chemical attacks against civilians in the Tokyo subway system. Twelve people were killed by the gas, and thousands were injured, and experts have suggested that if the five men who carried out the attack had better understood how to distribute Sarin properly, thousands could have died (Crime Museum, n.d.). It takes less than 10 seconds to run within a distance of approximately 100 meters. While the animals move around they try to monitor the environment as quadrupedally and monitoring of the environment can be able to take as much as up to ten minutes in any case they have doubts of where they are, this alerts them of any predators. Consortship is a situation where the two animals would stay close to each other and monitor the movement and environment of each other. This is done as long as the animals are out in an environment that is not seen as being friendly. They sleep alone with one individual hurdled on each other on the tree trunk, sitting up right. The male and female have a throat sac which they inflate in order to make a defining sound, this takes place within seconds. The sacs are important in making their call even much louder than the rest of the gibbons. With growth of interest in sport in the 19th century, and the organization °f annual and traditional sport competitions, especially between schools and universities, the idea arose of reviving the Olympic Games in the modern world. A Frenchman, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, was the enthusiast whose personal drive and initiative brought about the inauguration of the modern Olympic Games in 1896 with the participation of 311 athletes from thirteen countries, competing in nine sports. At first, the modern Games were limited to men. Women first competed in the Games in 1910, playing golf, but real women s participation only began in Paris in 1924 with the inclusion of women s athletics in the program. Winter sports were brought into the Olympic program through the organization of special winter Games, first held in France at Chamonix in 1924, with competitions in ice hockey, speed skating, figure skating, and skiing. These are still the basic events of the winter program, with the addition of bobsled and toboggan races. The most impressive event of the opening ceremony of the Games is the taking of the Olympic oaths. • 6. Jeremy Bentham and the United Nations Jeremy Bentham and the United Nations: Jeremy Bentham is generally considered the father of Utilitarianism. As a doctrine that seeks to maximize pleasure and minimize pain, Utilitarian thinkers, including Bentham, would approve of any organization or set of practices that have the tendency to do so. The United Nations is such an organization. Bentham firmly believed world governance was possible, at least under his utilitarian system (Pitts 212). The community is a fictitious body, composed of the individual persons who are considered as constituting as it were its members, (Bentham 1823, 586). In this quote Bentham refers to how single communities are merely collections of individuals. Since the distinctions between individuals are arbitrary the only objective grouping of people is to include the entire world population. As Bentham saw borders as imagined, he would approve of the coming together of humanity that the United Nations fosters. With its border crossing initiatives of conflict resolution and humanitarian aid, the United Nations is a source of good in the modern world and one that Bentham would endorse if he were here to do so, albeit with some concerns and recommendations. The United Nations primary goal stated in Article One, Section One of the organization s charter is [t]o maintain international peace and security . So far as the United Nations achieves this goal, Bentham would be in complete approval as war and conflict are great causes of human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Or other times when you have a house full coming over, and it seems as if you need just more oven rack to bake the rolls on or to keep a dish warm while the meat finishes up cooking. Or maybe, it is a summer evening and a pizza sounds amazing except the kitchen is still blazing from a record setting heat wave blasting through, and the last thing you want to do is generate more heat in your kitchen. The list of examples could go on and on as to why a toaster oven is an extremely essential kitchen appliance to own alongside your conventional oven. Its small size, versatile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with saving money on energy because of its stature, the small size allows the toaster oven to fit just about anywhere in the kitchen. Due to its compact size, a toaster oven can sit on top of other appliances or on countertops, making it an easy appliance to place in the kitchen. The size you choose determines what items you can cook inside. Obviously, the larger the toaster oven, the higher the cost. However, considering you can use your toaster oven in much the same way you can use a conventional oven, investing in a larger toaster oven is prudent. Different Cooking Elements Toaster ovens have various cooking elements, depending on what you are looking for. Many of them come with a convection function. This means generated heat is continually circulated throughout the oven by means of a fan. The movement creates an even cooking environment, ensuring that the top and the bottom are cooked evening. That means heat spots are eliminated: one area of a pan of cookies does not cook more than another. She had an audience of about 5,000 people, as she spoke about Women s Rights and Texan power. In Stand with Texas Women , Wendy Davis argues that Texas is all about fairness, so women deserve equal opportunity. Specifically, Davis states that Texas has pushed to be fair, but politicians have been selfish in their careers. Her point is that creating equal opportunity for women will help not only Texan families, but Texas as a whole. She also points out that Texas needs politicians who want what is best for the state and the people. Overall, Davis s main purpose is to unite Texan women in order to make equal opportunity to improve Texans quality of life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of the date of the Stand with Texas Women speech is that it was only a few days after her filibuster at the senate. She was trying to reach out to the women who felt regretful about their abortions. She was trying to further her points from the filibuster, by talking directly to the Texas women who attended the rally. As she stood in front of 5,000 men and women at the Texas Capitol, she stood in front of a much larger audience than expected. Her speech targeted women and men wanting a better life for them and their families. During the weekend before she spoke Rick Perry, knowing she is a single mother accused her of not learning her lesson (Koh, Luthra). He was pushing her to a limit that she did not appreciate. She attacked him in her speech by stating I was lucky enough to be able to make the choices in my life that I knew would work for me. And I don t regret for one minute my decisions about my daughters, my education or my direction in life. She pushed through what Rick Perry said about her, by showing her strength in her speech about her past. As abortion rights lay as a big issue, she makes a statement about the issue in the speech. She suggested a better way of limiting unwanted pregnancy by suggesting investing in good family planning services and honest, effective, age appropriate sex education rather than regulating abortion. The theory is broad and assists in the understanding of development across the lifespan. Additionally, it takes in to consideration both social and biological factors. • 10. An Unequal Distribution Of Wealth And Power Across The Nation Living in America, I have always been aware of fact that there is an unequal distribution of wealth and power across the nation. However, I was unaware that there is such a significant gap between the rich and the poor. It was made clear in the video Wealth Inequality in America , that the top 1% has more power and wealth than the middle and poor classes. The rich can get away with not paying their taxes and sitting on their pile of free money. In the meantime, the poorest people are down to the loose change in their pockets and are still paying their taxes. Corporations today have more privileges in America, including a voice in the democracy. People like us are being excluded from important decision making regarding our economic lives. Our understanding of what s going on with the wealth distribution and the actuality of what s going on is two completely different things. So you may ask, what s the reason behind this inequality? The answer is corporations and big businesses. Corporations such as Bank of America, Nike, Google, Apple, and Microsoft are rising to power. Corporations have also completely diminished the original intent of our Founding Fathers. According to Collin and Yeskel s Economic Apartheid in America , it s sad to say that many Americans are unaware of these things and it s starting to affect us as a country day by day. But while the truth of the economy may be difficult to understand, Collins, Yeskel, and Perkins clarified and changed my views on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most disturbing fact is how many reports of child abuse go unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the abuse, and not wanting to get their offender in trouble. Children between the ages of three to five years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a victim of sexual abuse. Children need to have supervision at all times, especially during times like changing clothes and bathing. If unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child isn t getting any attention from the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child things that the family can t, listen to the child s problems and gain their trust. The level of education plays a role, if the child is raised by a single parent and/or if the parents have marital problems. Additionally, the holiday is a time where African Americans honor the traditions of their African ancestors. Furthermore, Saint (1997) used visual imagery to convey a message and assist the reader in consciously and unconsciously relating the certain colors used in the book to the principles of Kwanzaa and thus, later fostering a sense of pride whenever the colors are seen. For example, Saint (1997) used the colors red, black, and green throughout the book to help children identify these colors as symbols of the Holiday. Therefore, when the child later sees the colors they will automatically relate the colors to the holiday, which will in turn assist the child in remembering the pride instilling principles expressed by the holiday. Saint (1997) also explained in detail the significance of Kwanzaa as well as the importance and meaning of its seven principles. Also, in order to clarify the meaning of the principles, Saint (1997) explained the principles in writing as well as with a corresponding picture. This in turn, provided the child with a visual representation to identify with the written explanation. Additionally, Saint (1997) used phonetic spelling in addition to the standard spelling in order to help the reader pronounce the African principles correctly. • 28. Civility In Lord Of The Flies Analysis Noah A. Shelanski Fritz English 2H Set 6 26 October 2017 An Anticipated Evolution: Civility to Barbarism in the Children of Lord of the Flies There are many laws and unspoken and logical rules that keep society civil. In the beginning of Lord of the Flies, Roger finds himself throwing minuscule stones at the younger boys, however missing them, due to the conditioning of society. This is a result of the little boys being protected by policemen, parents, school and the law. It is also evident and true that there are other factors that allow for civility to prosper in humanity, some of which are present on the island with the boys, but some factors are extremely scarce. But it is when these factors are mostly absent or diminish, that the idea and foundation of civilization will weaken or fade. William Golding allows symbols to show a complex, yet beautiful and convincing transition from a theme of civility and order, to one of savagery and also moral depravity. The reason for this new theme being that the boys are faced with an internal danger; the true nature of humanity, which fuels the drastic change from innocent boys who abide by rules to rabid animals. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, while the conch symbol best conveys the influence of the adult world on the boys, the conch symbol, paired with the pig hunt motif best conveys the theme of regression into savagery. Although the island lacks an adult authority figure, the conch symbolizes the adult world. Since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
