Looking at these two poems considered to be sister poems I have found distinct similarities and
differences. In The Seafarer, an old man is reflecting upon his life as a sailor. He described his

The River Stinchar and its tributaries, the ferly burn and the Dalquairne burn show patterns which
follow the Bradshaw Model to a large extent. The typical upper course of a river is narrow in width,
shallow in depth and slow in velocity. The load size is very large and therefore, less of it. The bank

Abstract. An effective way for promoting photocatalytic activity of a semiconductor is doping of rare
earth metal nanoparticles (NPs) onto it. Zinc oxide and Lanthanum doped Zinc oxide nanoparticles
were synthesized by modifying the gel combustion method. It was found that La can greatly enhance
the cytotoxicity and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles towards various cell lines and
paracetamol drug. These nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic and other
techniques which clearly revealed the presence of lanthanum ions. The UV vis spectroscopy displayed
the absorption edge shifts towards the visible region after doping with La which is extremely
favorable for absorbing the visible light. We compared the enhancing effect of La ions and found that
La doped ZnO nanoparticles is more effective than ZnO nanoparticles in promoting the generation of
hydroxyl radicals, holes and the photocatalytic activity of ZnO. Finally, the results of these studies

In this paper the submerged flow through radial gates with and without a gate sill was experimentally
investigated. The effect of different gate sill heights on contraction coefficient, discharge coefficient,
submerged jump length, backup water depth, flow energy dissipation, and velocity distribution with
different hydraulic parameters were analyzed and graphically presented. A combination of
dimensional and regression analysis tools was employed to develop reliable formulas for estimating
the studied parameters. This paper concluded the negative influence of sills under submerged radial
gates and justified the local scour phenomena occurred immediately downstream the stilling basin of
some existing submerged radial gates with a gate sill in Egypt.
