Move and position
MOVE AND POSITION INDIVIDUALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLAN OF CARE
1:1 Outline the anatomy and physiology of the human body in relation to the importance of correct
moving and positioning of individuals
The anatomy which the physical structure of the body and physiology which is the normal
functions of the body help individuals to move their limbs. Muscles have the power of contraction
thus it produce movement of the body and allow the bones to work like hinges. When moving
someone/individual it is important to remember that the muscles can only move the joint as far as
the bones will allow them.

Attica Prison Riot and Prison Reform
We live in a society today filled with crime and fear. We are told not to go out after a certain
hour, always move in groups, and even at times advised to carry a weapon on ourselves. There is
only one thing that gives us piece of mind in this new and frightening world we live in: the
American penal system. We are taught when growing up to believe that all of the bad people in
the world are locked up, far out of sight and that we are out of reach of their dangerous grasp.
Furthermore, the murderers and rapists we watch on television, we believe once are caught are to
be forgotten and never worried about again. We wish on them the most horrible fates and to rot in
the caged institution they are forced to call their new home. But, where do... Show more content on

This led to stagflation and high unemployment. This stagflation let to the discomfort and discontent
in the prison system. Prisons felt the effects of this oil shortage as well and led to their want to
further voice their opinions. But, as if theses conditions weren t bad enough, we were also going
through a political reform as well as dealing with the end of the Great Society era. Things were
bad both inside and outside prison walls. Prisoners heard about the incredibly horrific conditions
outside of their walls and believed that they should be allowed to do, or at least say something
about it.
Conditions inside the prison were no better. For starters, many of the prisoners were those who
had committed menial crimes. Worse so, many were war heroes, back from Vietnam who couldn
t find a job and thus had to go about other illegal means to stay alive, and thus were thrown in
prison. Attica prison in particular was famous at the time among prisoners for having the most
horrific treatment of their inmates. Guards did whatever they could both legally and illegally to
keep their prisoners in perpetual fear and discomfort. The prisoners were not just treated like
children, but as animals. The one thing prisoners treasure the most is their contact with the outside
world. It keeps them sane and allows them to remain in some type of contact both with their
families as well as with what is going on outside the prison walls. But, guards did whatever

Literary Voices Of Martin Amis
Martin Amis, who turns out to be a celebrity after the controversies and criticism he met with over
his personal life and the alleged gender bias, is one of the most significant literary voices of the
contemporary period. His narratives, oscillating between realism and postmodernism, present the
bitter truths of modern capitalist society. British government under the rule of Margaret Thatcher
shifted its interest from the progress of the Welfare state to privatization of business, marketing and
consumerism which gave a rapid increase to commercialization. As the government policies change,
media and advertising began to aggrandize free market and individual entrepreneurship where greed
has become the prime motive. Amis deals with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But this deceptive and mendacious image aims at befooling people because it can be obtained only
through its false signifiers. Money is one of the best examples presenting such devastating and self
deceiving impact of modern celebrity culture on human beings. Image conscious people, in order to
attain affluence, high status and fame which are only appearance not actual success, depend on the
conspicuous consumption of materialistic signifiers. The concepts of material consumption, the
false appearance and money are interrelated. Commenting on the source of inspiration, Peter Childs
remarks that it suggests through the increasingly intense popular cults of celebrity and fame, to the
commercial greed of 1980s (44).
The novel reflects the spirit of the Zeitgeist. It premises on the loss of self, integrity, authenticity
and self restrain. As a critique of capitalism, it satirizes the growing interest in free market and
privatization. The tempting and inducing strategies of free market economy have largely changed
people s lives and their way of thinking. In the absence of self faith, morality and authenticity, the
true value of life declined in the bleak world of late capitalist Western civilization.
Set in 1981 and published in 1984, Money is a story of John Self, the narrator and protagonist
whose life is made of fast food, sex shows, space games, slot machines, video nasties, nude mags,
drink, pubs, fighting, television, handjobs (67).

Good Ole Day Research Paper
I love to tell stories about my childhood. Looking back now, through all of my life s experiences,
it almost feels like I was living in a fairy tale. It brings both joy and sadness to my heart when I
share these memories with my daughter. The joy comes from remembering how things were
back then and how those things impacted my life today. The sadness comes from knowing that
she will never get to experience those things, therefore, she will only get to live them through
me. Even now as a young woman, she will say to me from time to time, mom, tell me a story about

Saturday was cleanup day and I helped my grandfather shovel the sawdust off of the meat
market floor. After the morning rush of customers, I took the shovel and began my journey. For
most kids, this was a lot of hard work, but I loved being my grandfather s little helper. I would
take the giant shovel and slide it across the floor, scooping more sawdust than I could pick up. I
would spill half of it back onto the floor. After the old sawdust was picked up, we would put new
sawdust down so the floor would be nice and clean. It was time for my favorite part of the day.
After we cleaned up everything, my grandfather and I would walk downtown to the Dime Store
so I could spend my savings! The Dime Store was like the Dollar General store is to us today. To
me it was the biggest toy store in the whole world! My grandfather would say ok, you can pick
two things, that s it . He knew he had to set a limit or my arms would be loaded down with items
when we reached the cash register. I would have spent my limit and more. My grandfather taught
me not to spend all of my money. He would tell me, save some for a rainy day . I often wondered
what that meant. As I placed my items on the counter, my grandfather said are you sure that is
what you want ? It was the same items every month, a bag of play money and a new receipt book,
so I could pretend I was a cashier like the lady that worked at the grocery

Essay on Corporate Downsizing
Corporate Downsizing Corporate Downsizing Organizations in every segment of business, industry,
government, and education are downsizing. Downsizing is and has been a controversial
phenomenon in the last few years. The controversy that surrounds downsizing may be better
described as a debate in organizational theory about whether change is adaptive or disruptive. The
issues which establish the outcome of the controversy include why the downsizingis taking affect,
how it is implemented, and what steps are taken to enhance its effects on organizational performance
. The reasons for corporatedownsizing are presented in many forms. Some companies downsize due
to technological changes such as automation, which brings about the need for a... Show more

Management wants a quick cut that protects he company s assets, yet it wants to be gentle and
compassionate to those who are let go. These two objectives are self canceling, and to
accomplish the first requires considerable compromise on the second. Many companies wait
until the day of the lay off to inform its employees. They are concerned about sabotage and
productivity. They seem to think that if they retain the bad news until the last moment that the
employees will leave and the rest will get back to business. However, this method of a lay off is
the least favorable for the employees. If the company gives the employees notice of the cutback in
the workforce, they will have time to plan for the financial problems, look for other work, and
make other necessary arrangements to prepare them for the loss.
It would be in the best interest of the company to give this notice to its workers. Being a survivor
of downsizing can have its own ethical issues. Those who are left after the downsizing has
occurred, may share perceptions about the ethics of the decisions leading up to the dismissal of
those who left. They may experience feelings such as anger, guilt, fear, and even depression.
These feelings could be brought on by having to take up the slack and doing more work. They
could also be asked to learn new tasks and for the same or maybe even less money than before the
downsizing. Asking people to do more

The First Song The Piano
I.In the first song the cello was placed in front of the piano. The song was allegro to moderato. At
times it would speed up to allergo, but usually stayed at moderato. The song was also piano when
the tempo was moderato. when the song would pick up speed the sound was also rise to mezzo
piano.
The second piece of the song started out as andante, but then quickly picked up to allegro or vivace.
The musicians was very into the music. You could follow the entire story of the music just with their
facial expressions.
The third piece of the song was fast or vivace and fortissimo. The song was almost rushed, as if
something bad had happened or the were running from something. it did not sound deep or dark at
all so maybe it was not bad.
II. The singer was placed in front of the piano, but staged so you could see them both. The entire
song was in French. They did have it translated on the screen, but something happened to the
projector and the lyrics were lost about half way through the first piece. This made it very hard
to follow exactly what was going on in the song. Yes, the lyrics were also in the booklet that we
had, but I personally did not want to be staring inside of a book. Much rather be watching them
perform and their facial expressions. What i could understand was a love/ heart break song. The
song was andante to moderato.

Symbolism In Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
In the book hatchet there is a main theme, the theme is to symbolize survival in a harsh place. I
think this is the main theme because there is significant textual evidence Brian survives for
about 54 days. This is also shown when Brian tries and gets the medical kit inside the plane. So
basically the Symbolism of this book is to survive. Also, he uses his hatchet in some parts of the
book to make and build his fort. How would you react if you were in his situation? Would you be
in a position to survive?
In one of the scenes in Hatchet Gary Paulsen uses repetition. In one of the scenes of the book
Bryan thought to himself I am rich, rich with food now, just rich... He described the berries in
the book as Sweet and not as distasteful as the gut cherries. One effect of this is to show how
grateful Bryan is to find food and to show how desperate he was. Bryan acts like he has just found
a gold mine when he tastes the rich berries. This shows the main character in this book is super
happy. This relates to the theme because it depicts survival by Brian finding the berries.... Show

In the book Bryan describes the winds as Fierce wind that ripped through the forest. one effect
this author helps show is that it s hard to live in the forest. Bryan acts like he was amazed of how

with his writing and his literary devices. This symbolizes survival because he was observant of his
surroundings. This is also one of the many things that help Bryan

The Effect Of String Function On An Accidental Of A...
One does not need to use words to convey a message. Dots and lines on a page can convey
emotion just as well, if not better. Music can fill in the context where words cannot. The simple
switch between major to minor, an accidental of a natural or a flat can easily show the motion of a
piece.
As a cellist for over six years, I wanted to understand the fundamental idea of why notes were
audible. I asked myself, why do I press down on certain parts of the strings on a cello to produce
certain notes? How are sound waves calculated? With these two questions in mind, I dove in with
the desire to apply a different perspective of music.
Diagram 1
One of the earliest discoveries of how string function comes from the Greek philosopher,
Pythagoras. The wavelength and pinches between strings are what differentiate the varying notes.
As shown in Diagram 1, the wavelengths have specific spacing in between, which are directly
related to mathematics. Nodes, or pinches, are strategically and mathematically placed to resonate
precise pitches, and particular ratios are able to be derived from these intervals. For example, an
octave describes two notes that are eight notes apart. In order to create the perfect first octave, the
string is pinched into perfect halves, making the mathematical ratio , as 2 parts are created from the
whole with one pinch. By pinching the string in half, the frequency becomes twice as fast ,
producing a higher tone of the same note. One octave higher than an A

Straight Hair Vs Clean Hair
People who dye their hair commonly have straight or slightly wavy hair. I have seen numerous
people with straight hair get highlights, streaks, or even color their whole head. But one thing
that is uncommon, almost rare is people with colored my type of hair. My type of hair can be
described as curly, kinky, frizzy, natural, or even as afro hair. Growing up I have seen very few
people with color their afro hair. Not only in my hometown, but nearly everywhere I have been to
and even in the media. I want to know why dyed straight hair is more common than dyed afro hair.
Whether that must do with the effects hair dyehas to natural hair. Or the price and extended effort
of taking care of dyed hair. Or even the way hair trends are portrayed in the media and by
celebrities When dyeing darker hair, bleach is needed to lighten the color for the actual hair dye
to color the hair. Bleach is harmful to the hair as it causes dryness and breakage. Natural hair is
usually dark and would need to be bleached if it were going to be dyed, but the last thing it needs
is more dryness. From experience, my type of hair dries out easily and needs numerous other
products to keep it moisturized. Hair dye is purely chemical which might affect curl patterns and
the overall look of the hair. Convenience stores don t always carry the best quality products for an

The, Peace, Night, Day, Love, Hate
Introduction
Binaries are embedded within every facet of our perceptions. War, peace, night, day, love, hate; we
are inclined to believe that every subject, idea, and thing has a polarizing companion. While this
paradigm may be beneficial in understanding the distinction and differences between these pairs, it
fails to entertain an idea even more compelling; that these polar opposites may not in fact be that
different from one another, and the bold notion that these dichotomies might not be as real as we
presume. Art and physics have been traditionally painted as polar opposites; neither resembling the
other even remotely. One is rational, objective, and logical, while the other is interpretive,
subjective, and, at times, seemingly illogical. While these superficial characteristics make a
persuasive argument for an antagonistic relationship between these subjects, it fails to acknowledge
their overarching commonality. Both disciplines have rich and prolific histories, saturated with
radical ideas, incredible individuals, and ground breaking discoveries and progressions. These rich
histories have provided the necessary foundation for the modern interpretations of these subjects
and all the wonderful innovations and understandings this modernity has entailed. While many
factors, movements, and people are responsible for this progression, two such movements in
particular have caused radical paradigm shifts in their respective disciplines. Impressionism and

The Raven And The Scarlet Letter
A common theme in the American Renaissance is breaking free from the intellectual traditions of
the past. This is effectively expressed by Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne despite
differences in their writing style through the stories of The Raven and The Scarlet Letter
respectively. Although their writing style is different, both authors indicate that breaking free from
intellectual traditions of the past is present in their writing. Both Poe and Hawthorne want to know
why things happen rather than how things happen so they focus on how the mind works. As well
as being gothic writers, they wanted to determine whether guilt or sin has a psychological effect. In
many of the stories by both authors a path of consciousness is shown followed by the deterioration
of a character s mind. As a result, characters of Hawthorne and Poe are often deranged or they
simply go mad. My finger, pointed at this man, would have hurled him from his pulpit into a
dungeon, thence, peradventure, to the gallows! (Hawthorne 14). Chillingworth could have easily
had his revenge by having Dimmesdale hanged or thrown in prison. But instead he settles for
psychological revenge that sends Dimmesdale into a guilt ridden version of himself who punishes
himself emotionally and mentally which ultimately leads to his death. Frequently, Poe and
Hawthorne show the struggles of human nature. Both believed that human nature was less than
good therefore evil was able to take hold of someone. Thrilled

Essay on History of Disparity in Development
History of Disparity in Development Human is one of few creatures of mother earth that can
think and decide what is right or wrong. Due to that special characteristic, people are always
curious about something and try to find the reason about it. In 1974, Jared Diamond was
staying in Papua New Guinea, and one day, a local named Yali asked Diamond a deceptively
simple question Why is it that you white people developed so much cargo, but we black people
had little cargo of our own? (NGO, 2005) Jared thought it was very interesting question and
made a research for more than 20 years. As a result, Jared was able to find his own conclusion and

People started using plows using animals and animal s dung worked as a great fertilizer.
Meanwhile animals in Papua were not that useful. All they did was just providing meat. Due to
that, people in Papua needed to spend more time on gathering food while people in Fertile Crescent
started to develop day by day. People in Fertile Crescent now had more people and they were able
to feed technicians who work with irons. This made huge difference in technological development.
There are some other theories of human development. The most popular theory is about water
(Marrone, 2014/02/04). The key role water plays in human development is well accepted
(Donoso, 2009) throughout the world. Unlike Diamond s theory, people who support the theory
that water is a main factor say domestication was possible because of existence of water and
support with 3 different examples. First example is in 11500 years ago, people didn t have
technology to pump the water, so they had to use their hand in order to provide water to plants
and animals. Due to that, people naturally moved to the region that is close to the water (Briggs,
2009 and 2014/02/03). Second example is, in ancient world, people s average life expectancy
was 20 years (Galor/ Moav, 2007), it is caused by many reasons, but the main reason was disease.
By washing their body everyday with water made them cleaner and healthier than before. Longer

Imagery in Macbeth by William Shakespeare
Imagery in Macbeth William Shakespeare use of imagery creates a picture in the mind of his
audiences that tells a thousand words. In most of his literary work, he shows the importance of
imagery, and how authors can manipulate a reader s feelings towards a character. In Macbeth, one
of Shakespeare s greatest plays, he shows his very skillfully uses imagery. Macbethis one of the
great tragedy themed plays by William Shakespeare. It s about three witches that decide to
manipulate a Scottish general called Macbeth when he returns from a war. The Scottish king,
Duncan, honors Macbeth with the title Thane of Cawdor for his heroic. Macbeth and his friend
Banquo meet the witches. They predict that he will one day become king. So he decides that he
will murder King Duncan. Macbeth s wife agrees to his plan, and so his ambition builds. In The
play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, his use of imagery is display through symbolism
of light and darkness, Macbeth ill fitting garments and the images of blood. In many of
Shakespeare s works, readers are introduced to the idea of light and dark. Often these two are
symbols of good and evil. Shakespeare use of the theme light vs. darkness is used to show a
conflict between two opposing sides. To begin Darkness shows up more throughout the play. An
example of this is the witches that cause chaos and confusion to other characters. As critic Spurgeon
states the witches are secret, black and midnight hags (Spurgeon 112). The witches

Mansa Musa
Before Mansa Musa took the thrown, there was not really known about him. It was only until
1312 when he took the thrown from his father Abu Bakr II, people started to know the young
Musa when he inherited the title Mansa. 1312 is a year that many will not forget, because of the
generous king s progressive ideas and how he was loved by his people. His reach stretched over
two thousand miles. He was known by many different names like Emir of Melle , Lord of the
Conqueror of Ghanata , or Lion of Mali (newtonic learnodo.com). But he was mostly known by the
name Mansa Musa, which means the King of Kings
As West Africa s first Muslim King, he ensured peace for decades. He was loved by many, not
only for his grace but for the large sums of money and gold that we would give out to charitable
organizations. Even though he was the richest king in history, he believed that most of his wealth
should be shared with vast amounts of people. Even though Mansa Musa was a ruler, there were
many times where he did not act as a King.
The Mansa was also the first ruler to travel over four thousand to the city of Mecca. On this
pilgrimage, he stopped at many large cities along his way, including Cairo, Medina, and other
Arab cities. Years of planning and hundreds of people preparing, he made the journey with large
sums of gold. But he was not going to leave his palace and kingdom to be left alone while he was

Sociological Perspectives on Religion Essay example
Religion is a ritualized system of beliefs and practices related to things defined as sacred by an
organized community of believers. (Basirico et.al. 379). Religion is an important element in the
society because it influences the way individuals act and think. It has shaped the relationship and
bonding among families as well as influenced the decision made in economics and politics. Religion
in general has contributed to shape a society and a government structure which will influence the
way the individuals under certain governmental structure behave. Sociologists are interested in
religion mainly because religious belief is heavily rooted in individuals lives and it helps

However, no matter how sociologists and scientists view religion, there are a lot of people who
will still believe in their own religion and that there exists a power that science cannot explain. For
example, in an Islamic country such as Indonesia, government is organized base on what is
appropriate according to Islam. Even though, there are a lot of people questions the existence of
supernatural power and hundreds of books publish that study the scientific view of religion,
government and people in that country still believe in their religions. Students at school also
study about science and sociological perspective toward religion and almost every student still
believe in their religion and practice it in their societies. Moreover, in US where freedom of
speech is allowed and knowledge can be shared quickly by internet, every person in US knows
about scientific study of religion but Christianity is still emphasized in everyday life. People
may only view sociological and scientific perspective of religion as one of the knowledge that
need to be known but doesn t have to be practiced. Overall, the sociological study in religions
does not undermine nor strengthen one s faith. Other factors such as people who use religion to

Two Views of Violence
Two Views of Violence
It is easy to interpret that the world is more violent today than in the past, when violence is present
on many television and radio channels and dispersed so liberally throughout the internet. The truth
of the matter, however, is that physical violence has always been a part of our lives. Beginning
with the first murder in the Bible by Cain, an early example of violence in literature, physical
violence has often been a part of what one reads. In comparing the novel Maggie: A Girl of the
Streets by Stephen Crane, and the novel Deadwood Dick s Doom by Edward Wheeler, one can see
that both novels portray many types of physical violence, that there is not necessarily a relationship

In retaliation, little Jimmie kicked repeatedly at his father s shins (Crane 44). Most of the main
characters in this novel were uneducated, because they had to start work early in life. This is

Mcdonald s A Fast Food Hamburger Chain
( McDonald s Wordmark ) ( McDonald s Prix ) ( Nos Menus ) By: Austin Gardner 2 1 January
28, 2015 Ms. Chalmers Introduction McDonald s is a multinational fast food hamburger chain.
The company was founded in 1940 by two brothers named Maurice and Richard McDonald (
McDonald s ). McDonald s currently has over 35,000 restaurants and serve over 68 million
customers a day on average ( History of ). The fast food giant makes 28 billion dollars annually,
and are the largest fast food chain in the world ( McDonald s ). That calculates to 75 million
dollars a day, which is unreal. This paper will examine the working conditions of the employees.
( McDonald s Across the World ) History In 1937 Richard and Maurice s father decided to open a
food stand as a hobby ( History of ). Orange juice and hamburgers were sold below market price (
History of ) In fact, burgers were originally sold for only 15 cents (Gilbert, 8). After three years,
the two brothers realized that their father s business was actually very profitable. Richard and
Maurice decided to lease a building and open up a drive in restaurant, to make larger production
possible; they named it McDonald s Bar B Q and the soon to be fast food giant had begun (
History of ). The restaurant the brothers opened was a drive in, and was an instant hit. In 1948, the
McDonald brothers decided that it was time to open a sit down restaurant in which their main
priority was efficiency ( History

Reliability Based Cost Model Essay
Reliability Based Cost Model Development As it is of December 2017, AWST contracts Romax

instead of performing an estimate ourselves is that Romax can do a better job than AWST due to
a larger database of failure modes and deeper expertise. Due to this reason, AWST does not have a

complicated but it is based only on the Weibull failure distribution and Markov matrices process
which some people of our team are very familiar with. Alternatively, a simple Monte Carlo
simulation for two states up and down can be calculated using the Weibull failure distribution
described below. Developing an algorithm to process the time in operating, failing, and failed
condition for each of the components is the key element for the cost modeling. This effort should
go in parallel with obtaining the Weibull distributions for each of the components described below.
A feedback should be obtained from Brian Kramak and Stephen Lightfoote to quantify the time
and effort required for developing Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithm. Weibull Distribution
Most of the failure modes follow a two parameter Weibull failure distribution as shown below.
F(t)=1 exp[ (t/О·(X) )^ОІ ] О·(X)=characteristic life (scale parameter) ОІ=Weibull slope (shape
parameter) ОІ is obtained through Weibull Log fit from field data. О·(X) is obtained through
fitting a Weibull Log Linear model (also known as Weibull regression or Weibull proportional

What Is The Tone Of The Santa Ana Winds By Joan Didion
There are moments when mother nature does something that may be inexplicable to mankind.
There is not always an explanation for why things happen. This type of change is explained in Joan
Didion s essay The Santa Ana Winds. Didion tries to describe the instinct that people have which
tells them the Santa Ana Windsare the reason for the change in the climate and within one another.
Didion is able to convey the effects of the the Santa Ana Winds on Los Angeles Natives by using a
dark tone, comparing her reasons to reliable sources, and outlining an image of the specific changes
that happen. Didion sets a dreadful tone by associating a set of words that contain unhappy
connotations, with the wind. She begins the essay by setting up an unpleasant... Show more content

After she has provided her readers with an idea of how destructive the winds can be, she begins
to include specific examples of how different groups of people will react. Didion s perspective of
the city is similar to the view of a bird when flying over the city. This can be seen as an advantage
for Didion s essay which consequently, acquires a focused flow. She uses a personal experience
of watching her neighbor s husband [who roamed their] place with a machete. This example
supports her assertions about the winds causing unusual behavior. Her neighbor s actions are not
something that a psychologist or himself can explain. Instead, the way Didion herself makes
sense of it is that something in the wind (or nature) have turned on a switch for the world around
them. She maintains this fearful tone when describing the animals and the environment.
Additionally, Didion uses an oxymoron when she describes the ocean as ominously glossy. Her
readers begin to question how the ocean would deceive them. Didion s intentions are to make
her readers visualize the aspects of the ocean during this time. Once they have formed an image
of the ocean in their minds the flow of her essay is much smoother. Overall, detailed images
Didion paints for her readers is helpful to the purpose of her essay, which is to prove to that the
Santa Ana winds are not like any other winds that they know. The winds are local and will bring a

Barium Sulfate Research Paper
Almost all of the barium consumed commercially is obtained from barite, which is often highly
impure. Barite is processed by carbothermal reduction (heating with coke) to give barium sulfide:
BaSO4 + 4 C в†’ BaS + 4 CO
In contrast to barium sulfate, barium sulfide is soluble in water and readily converted to the oxide,
carbonate, and halides. To produce highly pure barium sulfate, the sulfide or chloride is treated
with sulfuric acid or sulfate salts:
BaS + H2SO4 в†’ BaSO4 + H2S
Barium sulfate produced in this way is often called blanc fixe, which is French for permanent white.

The accidental discovery of this conversion many centuries ago led to the discovery of the first
synthetic phosphor.[4] The sulfide, unlike the sulfate, is water soluble. Sometime prior to the
autumn of 1803, the Englishman John Dalton was able to explain the results of some of his
studies by assuming that matter is composed of atoms and that all samples of any given compound
consist of the same combination of these atoms. Dalton also noted that in series of compounds, the
ratios of the masses of the second element that combine with a given weight of the first element
can be reduced to small whole numbers (the law of multiple proportions). This was further
evidence for atoms. Dalton s theory of atoms was published by Thomas Thomson in the 3rd edition
of his System of Chemistry in 1807 and in a paper about strontium oxalates published in the
Philosophical Transactions. Dalton published these ideas himself in the following year in the New

of social networking, whether they are positive or negative standpoints. Nevertheless, social media
and networking is a part of our American lifestyles as a whole. As a Computer Information
Systems major and studying the foundations and composition of computer applications, I would
like to research the effects that social networks have on underclassmen undergraduate students
attending an Historically Black College or University. In order to conduct this research, a study
and survey must be held to determine whether social networking positively or negatively affects
grade point averages by recording the number of social networks students are actively using and
the number of hours spent on these applications in comparison to grade point averages. This
research is important because there are many individuals who do not know the effects of their
social networking, or lack thereof, has on their grades, sleeping patterns, health, and lifestyles in
general. Although this research will focus on grade point averages of students, it will also
determine if social networking has effects on other aspects of the college life such as sleeping
patterns, health, and awareness. Purpose of Study Individuals should understand that the use or

might use them to find business intelligence. The three primary types of decision making systems
are: the transactional support system, the management information system, and the decisions
support system (FreeTutes.com, 2014).
First, the transactional support system encompasses all of the information contained within a single
business process or unit of work, and its primary purpose is to support the performing of daily
operational or structured decisions. Some examples of transactional information are when
customers purchase stocks, make an airline reservation, or withdraw cash from an A.T.M. (Baltzan,

(Baltzan p.54) Analytical information encompasses all organizational information, and its primary
purpose is to support the performing of managerial analysis or semi structured decisions. Analytical
information is used to identify and explain problems, market trends, sales, product statistics, and
forecast future growth. (Baltzan p.55). The difference between transactional and analytical
information is: transactional data drives operations, and analytical data drives strategy.
Actionly would use both transactional and analytical information to create a digital dashboard for
its customers. Analytical information such as social ROI, Twitter analytics, sentiment analysis, and
competitive analysis are all forms of historical data. This historical data would then be utilized to
observe marketplace trends, the successes or failures of a rival company s new product launches,
and acquisitions. This data could also be analyzed to monitor customer feedback and the brands
reputation management. (Baltzan pp. 43 44).
Transactional data such as marketing campaign tracking, click performance, and finding influences
would be utilized by Actionly to measure the competitions market share. Actionly could segment
transactional data by posts to track marketing campaigns to view the tendencies of an entire
industry like clean energy. Actionly uses all of these types of information to create gages, lights,

How Is Miss Emily Grierson A Dynamic Character
Upon reading William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, one discovers several colorful characters,
including one Miss Emily Grierson of Jefferson, Mississippi. Readers uncover her quirks and
specific character traits as seen through the eyes of the townspeople who are highly interested in
the goings on in her life. Miss Emily Grierson is a round yet static protagonist who is lonely,
unyielding to change, and overcome by her unfortunate life circumstances, and as such she should
not be considered a mad womanas many readers might accuse her of being.
Miss Emily lived her life almost throughout on display before the town of Jefferson and
ultimately this resulted in her lack of socialization and human interaction. The fault in this matter
lies with her father, the respected mayor of Jefferson, who protected her and kept her under
thumb, driving away every suitor that came to call. People came to picture poor Miss Emily as a
slender figure in white in the background, her father a spraddled silhouette in the foreground, his
back to her and clutching a horsewhip, the two of them framed by the back flung front door
(Faulkner 35). In this visualization, her father clearly stood between her and the real world as a
threatening and domineering figure. One might believe that such a prominent figure would interact
with the public on a daily basis in a positive manner, but it appears that the Grierson status only
encouraged the prying eyes of the townspeople to impede on Miss Emily s

The Global Financial Crisis And The Crisis Essay
Introduction
The Global Financial Crisis, also known as The Great Recession, broke out in the United States of
America in the middle of 2007 and continued on until 2008. There were many factors that
contributed to the cause of The Global Financial Crisis and many effects that emerged, because the
impact it had on the financial system. The Global Financial Crisis started because of house market
crash in 2007. There were many factors that contributed to the housing market crash in 2007. These
factors included: subprime mortgages, the housing bubble, and government policies and
regulations. The factors were a result of poor financial investments and high risk gambling, which
slumped down interest rates and price of many assets. Government policies and regulations were
made in order to attempt to solve the crises that emerged; instead the government policies made
backfired and escalated the problem even further.
Subprime Mortgages
The housing market crash, which broke out in the United States in 2007, was caused by high risk
subprime mortgages. The subprime mortgage crisis resulted in a sudden reduction in money and
credit availability from banks and other lending institutions, which was referred to as a credit
crunch. The credit crunch and its effect spread across the United States and further on to other
countries across the world. The credit crunch caused a collapse in the housing markets, stock
markets and major financial institutions across the globe.

Anabolic Steroid Use in Sports Summary
Anabolic Steroid use in Sports The competitive drive to win at all cost is fierce among athletes.
Winning at all cost often includes using one of many performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic
steroids. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs, like steroids, to achieve higher goals and
set higher records than other drug free successful athletes. Although athletes are performing at
higher levels when using such drugs, what is the cost? Finally anabolic steroids should remain
banned from sports because their use results in many harmful side effects; because their use violates
sports regulations, and because their use can cause death. Anabolic steroids should remain banned

Another reason is the potential side effect caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Since the use
of steroids has become a trend among athletes, the number of deaths among them has risen. A lot
of these deaths are due to suicides and violent behavior as a result of the effect of these anabolic
androgenic steroids on mood. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football
players have drawn attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised
important public health concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are
exempt from U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation (Haller, 2002). Performance
enhancing drugs are not only dangerous and damaging; they are potentially deadly. Between
1985 and 1995, at least 121 US athletes collapsed and died during or directly after a training
session or game; most often because they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart
malformations (Maron, 1996). Most of the athletes that have collapsed and died during or directly
after training session or game tested positive for some type of performance enhancing drug. From
case reports, the incidence of life threatening effects appears to be low, but serious adverse effects
may be under recognized or under reported. Data from animal studies seem to support this
possibility. One study found that exposing male

Ethical and Legal Concerns for Emergency Room Physicians...
There are unique ethical and legal obligations of the Emergency Room Physician. Commonly faced
issues include patient dumping , organ donation, and Do Not Resuscitate orders. These issues have
ethical and legal considerations for the Emergency Room Physician in regards to their
responsibilities and actions.
The ethical right for individuals to have access to health care already has a form of legal binding
within the United States as seen in the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. In
1986, Congress passed the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), which
forbids Medicare participating hospitals from dumping patients out of emergency departments
(Pozgar, 2010, p. 221). The act provides that:
In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the EMTALA, therefore, much more than emergency room care is provided regardless
of ability to pay (Menzel, 2011, p. 84).
Hospitals are not only required to care for emergency patients, but they also are required to do so
in a timely fashion (Pozgar, 2010, p. 272). Hospitals are expected to notify specialty on call
physicians when their particular skills are required in the emergency department. An on call
physician who fails to respond to a request to attend a patient can be liable for injuries suffered
by the patient because of his or her failure to respond (Pozgar, 2010, p. 271). Under the doctrine of
Respondeat Superior, hospitals are also liable for the actions of physicians working or on call in
their emergency department.
The need for organ donations creates another ethical dilemma for Emergency Room Physicians.
Obtaining organs from emergency room patients has long been considered off limits in the United
States because of ethical and logistical concerns (Stein, 2010). The shortage of organs available for
transplant has caused many patients die while waiting. A pilot project from the federal government
has begun promoting an alternative that involves surgeons taking organs, within minutes, from
patients whose hearts have stopped beating but who have not been declared brain dead (Stein,
2010). The Uniform Determination of Death Act

Two Sisters Of Persephone Sylvia Plath Literary Devices
Through the use of distinct opposites, Sylvia Plath is able to create two different mood in her
poem, Two Sisters of Persephone. The concept of two moods is set up in the poem s first stanza:
daylong a duet of shade and light, (2). This line suggests a battle between light and dark. Light
being a metaphor for and hope and happiness and darkness a metaphor for depression and
sadness. Already, it s obvious that there are two distinct females who are representative of
different concepts. The first girl, who has a, root pale...meager frame, (12) is obviously
darkness. She s weak and pale which suggests hunger or deprivation of some sort. There s no doubt
that this fact contributes to the darkness portrayed by the first female. It also seems as though she
is dying. This death could be a sort of hyperbole to explain what s happening within her or it could
be literal. The girl of darkness, sees how their red silk flare / of petaled blood, (17 18). Plath speaks

A Reflection On Educational Ideas Essay
A Reflection on Educational ideas in the Enlightenment
Introduction
The Enlightenment, an anti feudal and anti church ideological liberation movement, took place
principally in Europe during the late 17th and early 18th century. The rise of concepts of reason,
liberty and the scientific method are characteristics of the Enlightenment. (Live Science, 2016) The
Enlightenment covered various fields of knowledge such as science, literature, philosophy,
economics, sociology and education. A number of influential thinkers have emerged in the age of
Enlightenment. In education, the Enlightenment thinkers John Locke in English and Jean Jacques
Rousseau in French wrote foundational texts on educational theory. Both of them laid emphasis on
education in children s early age. Their educational theories affect education not only in their
respective period, but also in the modern societies. However, there are some limitations of their
educational theories.
The reason I am interested in the Enlightenment is because I have found the writings of Rousseau
and Locke are interesting and far reaching. Besides that, some of their theories strike a chord with
me and remind me of the experience in my growth process.

Voter Id Issues
What are the significant issues related to the recent revisions to voter ID laws?
The IDs help from impersonation and that makes a lot of people confidence in the election process.
They feel that it is important that voter s proof of identity requirements is essential to avoid voter
fraud and protect election honesty. By doing that many Americans don t have the requirements to
obtain a government voter Id because of low income. Many Americans don t have the funds to pay
for the mandatory documents needed to secure a government issued photo ID. The people has the
right to vote because its protected by more constitutional amendments. By putting restriction such as
requiring Ids when many Americans can t afford them leaving them out from voting

Five Key Concepts Of Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis was the name given by Sigmund Freud to a system of interpretation and
therapeutic treatment of psychological disorders. (McLeod, 2007) In particular, we present five
key concepts on psychoanalytic therapy: structure of personality, psychosexual stages, defense
mechanism, anxiety, and the unconscious mind. First of all we start off with the structure of
personality, which consists of 3 systems: the id, the ego superego. Each and individual has their
own functions such as the id, it starts from a person who is at birth and driven by the pleasure
principle. They will be out of awareness and demand for something to be done. (Snowden, 2010,
p.126) Adding on to the next system is the ego that begins to develop after birth. It makes decisions,
controls the actions and solving problem. Lastly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In classical psychoanalysis they uses free association method. The primary goal is to make
unconscious material conscious and to promote understanding. Therefore, clients are allow to say
anything which they would like to express no matter how illogical the problems could be. From
here on, the therapist s duty is to listen to the feeling that has been expressed by them. (Corey,
2001) However in contemporary psychoanalysis, therapists simply do not instruct clients to talk at
length about their problems, instead of that they had to figure out clearly what does the clients
experiencing and discovered in the moment due to time. Joffe, H., Elsey, J. W. B. (2014). Free

took about 5 times per week while as for contemporary, they will get involved in dream analysis.
Contemporary psychoanalysis has challenged many of the fundamental assumptions about
traditional psychoanalytic theory and treatment. Perhaps

Cronus And Hera In Greek Mythology
Cronus and Rhea were the parents of six children, one of them including Hera. Since Cronus had
an uneasy conscience about his children s future intentions, he decided to eat them one by one.
When it came to the last child, Zeus, Rhea decided to save him. Zeus soon came back to dethrone
his father and rescue his siblings. Hera, the Greek goddess of the gods and women, was saved and
then became the wife of Zeus. While they were together, Zeus and Hera had five children. Their
children include Ares; the god of war, Hephaestus: the god of fire, Hebe: the goddess of youth,
Eris: the goddess of strife, and Eileithyia: the goddess of childbirth. Hera always wanted Zeus

Blakes cry for a voice Essay
Blake s cry for a voice
William Blake had a vision. It was a thought that changed the way poetry and writing would be
viewed from here to eternity. Blake s point of views and associations with the characters
represents a change in the way the reader dictates who the victim is really and who is not. In Blake
s The Chimney Sweeper from the Songs of Innocence and Experience, both aspects of heaven and
hell can be examined just the same as a good versus evil aspect of the two different styles of the
poem. One poem, two totally different views on manners, morals, customs, and what is right and
wrong.

Highly critical poems on rationality, normality and societal parameters are not uncommon and a
trademark of Blake s later, far more bitter poetry. As a social commentator, a number of issues
relevant at the time were the inspiration behind gloomy works such as The Chimney Sweeper
regarding industrialization and, from the Songs of Experience.
Blake was society s unwillingness to accept and recognize new ideas and opportunities for
change. Stating at one point that these reservations were an enemy to social progression . To be
condemned in a society that is much Blake s as well as anyone else s is a torment that would be
felt on all of his art.
The Chimney Sweeper from William Blake s Songs of Innocence comprises
songs of happy cheer about field and flower, hill and stream, and the innocence of child and lamb,
as seen through the eyes of a child (World Book vol.2 pg 314).
In one excerpt, The Chimney Sweeper, Blake, through religious symbolism, gives the image of
an innocence child living a life of hardship and grief that gains comfort from the knowledge that
God will deliver him to a better life in heaven. The image of this child who cried when his head,
that curled like a lamb s back, was shaved gives the impression of the sacrificial lamb, sacrificed
into a life of hardship, poverty, and early death. The child dreams of an

Taking a Look at the Omnivore s Dilemma
What am I exactly eating? Where does our food come from? Why should I care? The Omnivore
s Dilemma may forever change the way you think about food. I enjoyed Mr. Pollan s book, The
Omnivore s Dilemma and learned a great deal of information. Pollan s book is a plea for us to
stop and think for a moment about our whole process of eating. Pollan sets out to corn fields and
natural farms, goes hunting and foraging, all in the name of coming to terms with where foodreally
comes from in modern America and what the ramifications are for the eaters, the eaten, the
economy and the environment. The results are far more than I expected them to be.
I had no idea we used so much fossil fuel to get corn to grow as much as it does. There is a
widespread of obesity today due to the need of agricultural excesses of corn. I hadn t thought, for
example that anyone could give me any more reasons not to eat HOT French fries at McDonalds,
but Pollan did!
The first section of this book traces a meal at McDonalds back to its basic ingredient corn. From
the corn that feeds the chickens to the xanthan gum in the milkshake to the sweetener in the
ketchup and oil in which the fries are cooked, McDonalds is mostly corn. Since Fast Food
Nation and the other exposes, I don t think there s anyone who cares who doesn t know how
gross fast food is, and Pollan admirably stays away from the yuckiest. Instead, he goes to accusing
Americans who eat food of having become like koalas, capable of absorbing

Wherein this might have been possible in times past, it appears that in the future it will mean a
decrease in revenue for these organizations. Another reason for a lack of alignment is that the key
players of the organization are not on the same sheet of music. When this happens it is nearly
impossible to form an internal alignment of types. In this situation information technology is
wasted. The motive is because one key ingredient to alignment is collaboration. Collaboration is
actually about effective communicating. In this forum not only is information shared it is also
redefined into new ideas. All of this is not possible if key players of the organization do not work
collaboratively. The Right Combination The solution to what ills the alignment of IT strategy and
business strategy can be found in the alignment of the organization s CEO, CIO, and CFO. In
order for the business strategy and the IT strategy to come together to for any type of alignment
(cutting edge) there must be harmony among this group. The reason why this select few people are
important to the alignment process is because of their roles inherent within the organization. Below
is an illustration followed by a brief description of each role and what that person would be

The weather was just perfect for the 29 anglers who signed up and took to the Colorado River, in

According to Cunningham s log book, the largest catch of the year was a 40.9 pounder in Imperial

Since this is a five part series fishing competition, Cunningham said the next leg of the tournament

back in October for the Grand Championship at Max s Bait Shop in Palo Verde.
At the last event in October, we will crown the flathead king and the channel king, Cunningham

North Dallas Forty vs. Any Given Sunday Essay example
Any Given Sunday and North Dallas Forty, made over 25 years apart, are two of the most
famous football movies ever made. Both of these movies focus on an examination of American
values as seen through the lens of a professional sport, both on and off the field. Any Given
Sunday and North Dallas Forty do indeed have many striking similarities. Furthermore, it seems
that both movies try to give a detailed depiction on the corporate mentality of modern day
professional football; while at the same time, still working to deliver a traditional, likeable sports
flick. Though there is a large time gap between the two films, they have similar messages and much
in common.

Both films focus on characters struggling to stay successful in professional football and deal
with pressures off the field. In North Dallas Forty, Phil Elliott is in such terrible shape, so in
order to get through a game, it requires drugs, tape, and much padding. He is only able to compete
in games when he is hopped up on painkillers, which are conveniently provided to him by
management. His cynicism and independent spirit is looked upon as troublesome by team coaches.
Eventually, the Bulls management team benches Elliot after manipulating him to help train a
fellow teammate. Many similar things happen in Any Given Sunday. Cap Rooney, an older
quarterback struggles to succeed, as the new owner balks at renewing his contract. However,
unlike Elliot, Rooney s coach fights for his spot on the team and wants him to play for the Sharks.
Unfortunately, he ends up getting hurt and is replaced by a third string rookie quarterback. Just as
management in North Dallas Forty gives away drugs, the doctor in Any Given Sunday also saw
nothing wrong with administering drugs to assist players in making sure they got on the field no
matter what.
Both movies demonstrate the fact that the game of football has changed from a true sport into a
business. In its own way, each film shows the passing of older generations and

  • 4. Attica Prison Riot and Prison Reform We live in a society today filled with crime and fear. We are told not to go out after a certain hour, always move in groups, and even at times advised to carry a weapon on ourselves. There is only one thing that gives us piece of mind in this new and frightening world we live in: the American penal system. We are taught when growing up to believe that all of the bad people in the world are locked up, far out of sight and that we are out of reach of their dangerous grasp. Furthermore, the murderers and rapists we watch on television, we believe once are caught are to be forgotten and never worried about again. We wish on them the most horrible fates and to rot in the caged institution they are forced to call their new home. But, where do... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This led to stagflation and high unemployment. This stagflation let to the discomfort and discontent in the prison system. Prisons felt the effects of this oil shortage as well and led to their want to further voice their opinions. But, as if theses conditions weren t bad enough, we were also going through a political reform as well as dealing with the end of the Great Society era. Things were bad both inside and outside prison walls. Prisoners heard about the incredibly horrific conditions outside of their walls and believed that they should be allowed to do, or at least say something about it. Conditions inside the prison were no better. For starters, many of the prisoners were those who had committed menial crimes. Worse so, many were war heroes, back from Vietnam who couldn t find a job and thus had to go about other illegal means to stay alive, and thus were thrown in prison. Attica prison in particular was famous at the time among prisoners for having the most horrific treatment of their inmates. Guards did whatever they could both legally and illegally to keep their prisoners in perpetual fear and discomfort. The prisoners were not just treated like children, but as animals. The one thing prisoners treasure the most is their contact with the outside world. It keeps them sane and allows them to remain in some type of contact both with their families as well as with what is going on outside the prison walls. But, guards did whatever ... • 5. Literary Voices Of Martin Amis Martin Amis, who turns out to be a celebrity after the controversies and criticism he met with over his personal life and the alleged gender bias, is one of the most significant literary voices of the contemporary period. His narratives, oscillating between realism and postmodernism, present the bitter truths of modern capitalist society. British government under the rule of Margaret Thatcher shifted its interest from the progress of the Welfare state to privatization of business, marketing and consumerism which gave a rapid increase to commercialization. As the government policies change, media and advertising began to aggrandize free market and individual entrepreneurship where greed has become the prime motive. Amis deals with the... Money is one of the best examples presenting such devastating and self deceiving impact of modern celebrity culture on human beings. Image conscious people, in order to attain affluence, high status and fame which are only appearance not actual success, depend on the conspicuous consumption of materialistic signifiers. The concepts of material consumption, the false appearance and money are interrelated. Commenting on the source of inspiration, Peter Childs remarks that it suggests through the increasingly intense popular cults of celebrity and fame, to the commercial greed of 1980s (44). The novel reflects the spirit of the Zeitgeist. It premises on the loss of self, integrity, authenticity and self restrain. As a critique of capitalism, it satirizes the growing interest in free market and privatization. The tempting and inducing strategies of free market economy have largely changed people s lives and their way of thinking. In the absence of self faith, morality and authenticity, the true value of life declined in the bleak world of late capitalist Western civilization. Set in 1981 and published in 1984, Money is a story of John Self, the narrator and protagonist whose life is made of fast food, sex shows, space games, slot machines, video nasties, nude mags, drink, pubs, fighting, television, handjobs (67). ... • 6. Good Ole Day Research Paper I love to tell stories about my childhood. Looking back now, through all of my life s experiences, it almost feels like I was living in a fairy tale. It brings both joy and sadness to my heart when I share these memories with my daughter. The joy comes from remembering how things were back then and how those things impacted my life today. The sadness comes from knowing that she will never get to experience those things, therefore, she will only get to live them through me. Even now as a young woman, she will say to me from time to time, mom, tell me a story about the Good Ole Days ! I grew up in a small town across the Florida/Georgia line. The trees towered over the dirt roads like canopies and you could follow a creek in the woods... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Saturday was cleanup day and I helped my grandfather shovel the sawdust off of the meat market floor. After the morning rush of customers, I took the shovel and began my journey. For most kids, this was a lot of hard work, but I loved being my grandfather s little helper. I would take the giant shovel and slide it across the floor, scooping more sawdust than I could pick up. I would spill half of it back onto the floor. After the old sawdust was picked up, we would put new sawdust down so the floor would be nice and clean. It was time for my favorite part of the day. After we cleaned up everything, my grandfather and I would walk downtown to the Dime Store so I could spend my savings! The Dime Store was like the Dollar General store is to us today. To me it was the biggest toy store in the whole world! My grandfather would say ok, you can pick two things, that s it . He knew he had to set a limit or my arms would be loaded down with items when we reached the cash register. I would have spent my limit and more. My grandfather taught me not to spend all of my money. He would tell me, save some for a rainy day . I often wondered what that meant. As I placed my items on the counter, my grandfather said are you sure that is what you want ? • 7. Essay on Corporate Downsizing Corporate Downsizing Corporate Downsizing Organizations in every segment of business, industry, government, and education are downsizing. Downsizing is and has been a controversial phenomenon in the last few years. The controversy that surrounds downsizing may be better described as a debate in organizational theory about whether change is adaptive or disruptive. The issues which establish the outcome of the controversy include why the downsizingis taking affect, how it is implemented, and what steps are taken to enhance its effects on organizational performance . The reasons for corporatedownsizing are presented in many forms. Some companies downsize due to technological changes such as automation, which brings about the need for a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Management wants a quick cut that protects he company s assets, yet it wants to be gentle and compassionate to those who are let go. These two objectives are self canceling, and to accomplish the first requires considerable compromise on the second. Many companies wait until the day of the lay off to inform its employees. They are concerned about sabotage and productivity. They seem to think that if they retain the bad news until the last moment that the employees will leave and the rest will get back to business. However, this method of a lay off is the least favorable for the employees. If the company gives the employees notice of the cutback in the workforce, they will have time to plan for the financial problems, look for other work, and make other necessary arrangements to prepare them for the loss. It would be in the best interest of the company to give this notice to its workers. Being a survivor of downsizing can have its own ethical issues. Those who are left after the downsizing has occurred, may share perceptions about the ethics of the decisions leading up to the dismissal of those who left. They may experience feelings such as anger, guilt, fear, and even depression. These feelings could be brought on by having to take up the slack and doing more work. They could also be asked to learn new tasks and for the same or maybe even less money than before the downsizing. Asking people to do more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The second piece of the song started out as andante, but then quickly picked up to allegro or vivace. The musicians was very into the music. You could follow the entire story of the music just with their facial expressions. The third piece of the song was fast or vivace and fortissimo. The song was almost rushed, as if something bad had happened or the were running from something. it did not sound deep or dark at all so maybe it was not bad. II. The singer was placed in front of the piano, but staged so you could see them both. The entire song was in French. They did have it translated on the screen, but something happened to the projector and the lyrics were lost about half way through the first piece. This made it very hard to follow exactly what was going on in the song. Yes, the lyrics were also in the booklet that we had, but I personally did not want to be staring inside of a book. • 11. Symbolism In Hatchet By Gary Paulsen In the book hatchet there is a main theme, the theme is to symbolize survival in a harsh place. I think this is the main theme because there is significant textual evidence Brian survives for about 54 days. This is also shown when Brian tries and gets the medical kit inside the plane. So basically the Symbolism of this book is to survive. Also, he uses his hatchet in some parts of the book to make and build his fort. How would you react if you were in his situation? Would you be in a position to survive? In one of the scenes in Hatchet Gary Paulsen uses repetition. In one of the scenes of the book Bryan thought to himself I am rich, rich with food now, just rich... He described the berries in the book as Sweet and not as distasteful as the gut cherries. One effect of this is to show how grateful Bryan is to find food and to show how desperate he was. Bryan acts like he has just found a gold mine when he tastes the rich berries. This shows the main character in this book is super happy. This relates to the theme because it depicts survival by Brian finding the berries.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 13. The Effect Of String Function On An Accidental Of A... One does not need to use words to convey a message. Dots and lines on a page can convey emotion just as well, if not better. Music can fill in the context where words cannot. The simple switch between major to minor, an accidental of a natural or a flat can easily show the motion of a piece. As a cellist for over six years, I wanted to understand the fundamental idea of why notes were audible. I asked myself, why do I press down on certain parts of the strings on a cello to produce certain notes? How are sound waves calculated? With these two questions in mind, I dove in with the desire to apply a different perspective of music. Diagram 1 One of the earliest discoveries of how string function comes from the Greek philosopher, Pythagoras. The wavelength and pinches between strings are what differentiate the varying notes. As shown in Diagram 1, the wavelengths have specific spacing in between, which are directly related to mathematics. Nodes, or pinches, are strategically and mathematically placed to resonate precise pitches, and particular ratios are able to be derived from these intervals. For example, an octave describes two notes that are eight notes apart. In order to create the perfect first octave, the string is pinched into perfect halves, making the mathematical ratio , as 2 parts are created from the whole with one pinch. By pinching the string in half, the frequency becomes twice as fast , producing a higher tone of the same note. One octave higher than an A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My type of hair can be described as curly, kinky, frizzy, natural, or even as afro hair. Growing up I have seen very few people with color their afro hair. Not only in my hometown, but nearly everywhere I have been to and even in the media. I want to know why dyed straight hair is more common than dyed afro hair. Whether that must do with the effects hair dyehas to natural hair. Or the price and extended effort of taking care of dyed hair. Or even the way hair trends are portrayed in the media and by celebrities When dyeing darker hair, bleach is needed to lighten the color for the actual hair dye to color the hair. Bleach is harmful to the hair as it causes dryness and breakage. Natural hair is usually dark and would need to be bleached if it were going to be dyed, but the last thing it needs is more dryness. From experience, my type of hair dries out easily and needs numerous other products to keep it moisturized. War, peace, night, day, love, hate; we are inclined to believe that every subject, idea, and thing has a polarizing companion. While this paradigm may be beneficial in understanding the distinction and differences between these pairs, it fails to entertain an idea even more compelling; that these polar opposites may not in fact be that different from one another, and the bold notion that these dichotomies might not be as real as we presume. Art and physics have been traditionally painted as polar opposites; neither resembling the other even remotely. One is rational, objective, and logical, while the other is interpretive, subjective, and, at times, seemingly illogical. While these superficial characteristics make a persuasive argument for an antagonistic relationship between these subjects, it fails to acknowledge their overarching commonality. Both disciplines have rich and prolific histories, saturated with radical ideas, incredible individuals, and ground breaking discoveries and progressions. These rich histories have provided the necessary foundation for the modern interpretations of these subjects and all the wonderful innovations and understandings this modernity has entailed. While many factors, movements, and people are responsible for this progression, two such movements in particular have caused radical paradigm shifts in their respective disciplines. • 16. The Raven And The Scarlet Letter A common theme in the American Renaissance is breaking free from the intellectual traditions of the past. This is effectively expressed by Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne despite differences in their writing style through the stories of The Raven and The Scarlet Letter respectively. Although their writing style is different, both authors indicate that breaking free from intellectual traditions of the past is present in their writing. Both Poe and Hawthorne want to know why things happen rather than how things happen so they focus on how the mind works. As well as being gothic writers, they wanted to determine whether guilt or sin has a psychological effect. In many of the stories by both authors a path of consciousness is shown followed by the deterioration of a character s mind. As a result, characters of Hawthorne and Poe are often deranged or they simply go mad. My finger, pointed at this man, would have hurled him from his pulpit into a dungeon, thence, peradventure, to the gallows! (Hawthorne 14). Chillingworth could have easily had his revenge by having Dimmesdale hanged or thrown in prison. But instead he settles for psychological revenge that sends Dimmesdale into a guilt ridden version of himself who punishes himself emotionally and mentally which ultimately leads to his death. Frequently, Poe and Hawthorne show the struggles of human nature. Both believed that human nature was less than good therefore evil was able to take hold of someone. Thrilled ... People in Fertile Crescent now had more people and they were able to feed technicians who work with irons. This made huge difference in technological development. There are some other theories of human development. The most popular theory is about water (Marrone, 2014/02/04). The key role water plays in human development is well accepted (Donoso, 2009) throughout the world. Unlike Diamond s theory, people who support the theory that water is a main factor say domestication was possible because of existence of water and support with 3 different examples. The Global Financial Crisis started because of house market crash in 2007. There were many factors that contributed to the housing market crash in 2007. These factors included: subprime mortgages, the housing bubble, and government policies and regulations. The factors were a result of poor financial investments and high risk gambling, which slumped down interest rates and price of many assets. Government policies and regulations were made in order to attempt to solve the crises that emerged; instead the government policies made backfired and escalated the problem even further. Subprime Mortgages The housing market crash, which broke out in the United States in 2007, was caused by high risk subprime mortgages. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football players have drawn attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised important public health concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are exempt from U. Hospitals are expected to notify specialty on call physicians when their particular skills are required in the emergency department. An on call physician who fails to respond to a request to attend a patient can be liable for injuries suffered by the patient because of his or her failure to respond (Pozgar, 2010, p. 271). Under the doctrine of Respondeat Superior, hospitals are also liable for the actions of physicians working or on call in their emergency department. The need for organ donations creates another ethical dilemma for Emergency Room Physicians. Obtaining organs from emergency room patients has long been considered off limits in the United States because of ethical and logistical concerns (Stein, 2010). The shortage of organs available for transplant has caused many patients die while waiting.
