Informal Institutions In Thailand Case Study
Why Coup d état recurrently exist in Thailand?  Strong informal institutions.
Strong informal institutions
The definition of informal institution according to Douglass North is that informal institutions are
specific organizations or rules that constrain and influence human behavior. It is the structure of
human actions by providing incentives that shape economic and political behavior. Informal
institutions are not written in rules or laws, but still constrain the behavior of people. Antonio
Gramsci, Italian neo Marxist theorist talked about the hegemonic stability, which is the dominant class
constructed norms in society, with the coercion consent. Constructed norms embedded in political
cultural value and accepted by lower class in society. For example the case of Thais have to stand for
the royal anthem to pay respects to His majesty the king and Thais have to stand for the National
Anthem. It is the norms in the society that constructed in school and family when Thais are young and

and legitimately established, but are carried out and acknowledged in the society, such as norms,
religious and languages. Informal institutions in each society are verities throughout the context of
each cultural practice, nevertheless the common things in informal institutions is that they are
recognized by people in society and a solid structure in societies. Informal institutions are constructive

Essential Questions On The Play Julius Caesar
Act 1 Essential Question In Act One Scene 1, Cassius had created a secret club of people to over run
Julius Caesar. Cassius did this because he wasn t fond of Caesar s actions. Cassius, Cinna, and Casca
want Brutus to join because he is very popular and wealthy. Many people look up to Brutus. It s
possible that if Brutus joins the club, his followers would support him and help over run Caesar, they
re going to need as much support as they can get. Three parts of him ours already, and the man entire

Obstacle Course Report
The lesson will begin with a warm up, playing a version of the game beans (resource available at:
http://www.teachingideas.co.uk/pe/beans.htm) as a means to prepare the body for activity, increasing
the body temperature and preventing injury to muscles (Australian Sports Commission, 2010). At the
completion of the warm up, the teacher will walk the students through the obstacle course. As the
students are in the developing stage, have volunteers come up to demonstrate, whilst the teacher
explains the focus of each obstacle. If required the teacher can answer any questions regarding the
course that the children may have. It is at this point the teacher should mention the importance of
following instruction for safety reasons, in order to avoid any collisions.
In addition to the classroom teacher, there will be a teacher s aide, and a parent helper. The classroom
teacher will be located at the start of the obstacle course; hopscotch, and ensure that before children
enter the obstacle course, there is sufficient space between them and the previous student. As stated ...

Whilst there is sufficient room for obstacles to be placed out, there is also an increased chance of
injury due to the rough surface. For this reason, soft mats are a requirement for obstacles three and
five. The parent helper will stand by obstacle three, with a particular focusing being on landing
technique.
For safety reasons, only a maximum of five children will be completing the obstacle course at the
same time. Once the first group of children has been through the obstacle course twice, the teacher
aide will direct the students away from the course where they will play do this do that! (resource

The Anti War Of The Vietnam War
In the mid 1960s a pervasive anti war atmosphere came about surrounding the Vietnam War.
Encompassing this war, the anti war movement was fueled by three ambitious groups who, in their
quest for distinct changes, induced the downfall of the liberalist democratic party and set the stage for
the new conservative republicans with three movements that made up the anti war radicalism. These
three movements include, the New Left movement, Black Power and Women s liberation movement.
All three movements were initiated due to the negative effects of the Vietnam War on their needs,
suggesting that the American system was connected to the evolution of the war. Therefore, one by one,

You let that white man know, if this is a country of freedom, let it be a country of freedom; and if its
not a country of freedom, change it.
Many black in America began to feel the need to address this white supremacy that they felt
suppressed under and found that they are only being used as a tool of the white liberal establishment;
liberal whites have not begun to address themselves to the real problem of black people in this
country. The most important lesson they learned was that anything the white man does is never in the
best interest for the black man or community. This led to a growing rage amongst blacks and led them
to take a stand against the problems they faced. However, from the testimony of Anne Moody, a black
girl growing up in Mississippi, the black power movement led to much tension and violence between
the blacks and whites; After the sit in, all I could think of was how sick the Mississippi whites were.
They believed so much in the segregated Southern way of life, they would kill to preserve it. The

A Short Note On Ct Dose Calculation ( Ct )
iSAP CT Dose Calculation
Introduction:
The role of computed tomography (CT) in imaging has risen substantially in the previous decade
(Hess et al. 2014). With its increasing demand, one of the most predominant concerns for radiation
workers is the dose administered to the patient (Hess et al. 2014). Therefore, the calculation of dose is
a parameter that must be monitored closely.
Task 1:
Exposure
Exposure is the amount of electrical charge produced by ionising radiation per unit mass of air. It is
measured in Coulomb per kilogram C kg 1, where its former unit was Roentgen (Schoepf 2005).
Absorbed dose
The absorbed dose is the energy (joules) deposited by ionising radiation per unit mass of material in
kilograms, as a result of exposure to ionising radiation. The absorbed dose is therefore measured in
J/kg or gray (Gy) where 1Gy = 1J/kg. The absorbed dose is calculated by multiplying exposure with
W, where W is the conversion factor from exposure to absorbed dose depending on the absorbing
medium (Siegel 2008).
Equivalent dose
The absorbed dose is a poor indicator of the likely biological effect, as the biological effect of the
same absorbed dose will depend on the type of radiation. This is because the linear energy transfer of
radiations that produce dense ionisation tracks cause more biological damage per unit dose than low
linear energy transfer radiations, and thus must have higher radiation weighting factors. Therefore, the
equivalent dose (HT) is measured

Analysis Of The Play Antigone
In the reading Siddartha, the protagonist, Siddartha, is a man who comes to the realization that he is
lacking in life and that the materialistic treasures of the world, such as power, wealth, and sex, do not
satisfy him anymore. He then embarks on a long journey to fill the void inside of him and search for
the enlightenment that he craves. Before he experiences his awakening, he faces many obstacles and
fights many battles between his internal values and the values of the world. Likewise, the play
Antigone is the story of a tragic hero who defies the rules of her society in order to do what she feels
is morally just. She is eventually charged with treason and sentenced to death by the society because
of her act of heroism. It is made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It had to be found, the pristine source in one s own self, it had to be possessed! Everything else was
searching, was a detour, was getting lost (Hesse 5). These thoughts that were running through
Siddartha s mind clearly demonstrates how much he disagrees with his family s ways. The sheer
thought of Siddartha following in his father s footsteps brings him immense dissatisfaction. Even
though his father is a noble and good man, Siddartha believes that his father lacks what he is
ultimately searching for, enlightenment.
Siddhartha experiences multiple instances of conflict between his search for truth and traditional
social structure and addresses it by seeking out new experiences. This is displayed when Siddartha is
leaving the Brahmins and says, But there is one thing that the so clear, so vulnerable Teaching does
not contain: it does not contain the secret of what the Sublime One himself has experienced, he alone
among the hundreds of thousands. That is what I thought and realized when I heard the Teaching. That
is why I am resuming my wandering not to seek a different, a better teaching, for I know that there is
none; but to leave all teachings and all teachers and to reach my goal alone or die (Hesse 32). Here,
Siddartha is explaining that his method of achieving enlightenment is different from the standards of
his people. The Brahmins maintain the culture and method of having a teacher who is

How Is Booker T Washington Related To Education
Booker T. Washington and Education Throughout the life of Booker T. Washington expressed in his
autobiography, Up From Slavery, one element has remained the same through his influences,
education, public speaking, and teaching of others. This is the fact that one cannot succeed solely on a
book education, but must accompany this with that of an industrial education as well. He believed that
with this type of education, the black man could provide necessary services not only for himself, but
also for those in his community as well. Washington was born on a slave plantation in either 1858 or
1859 in Franklin County, Virginia. He grew up with his mother, his brother John, and his sister
Amanda. They lived in an extremely small log ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
About this same time a school had been stated in Kanawha Valley, a little town a few miles away from
Malden. This is where Washington began his book education. To attend the school, Washington, at
first, had to go to night classes due to his job at the salt mines. With a little persuasion, Washington
finally was allowed to attend during the day provided he worked from four o clock to nine o clock in
the morning. This education was very disorderly due to the fact he could not attend regularly.
Eventually Washington had to drop out of the school and continue working full time at the salt mines.
Washington continued working at the salt mines until he was able to work in the coal mines. The coal
mines paid a little more, but not a significant difference. It was here where Washington overheard two
men talking about a new all Negro school in Hampton, Virginia. In order to go to this school,
Washington needed to save money for clothes and traveling expenses. For this he worked in the house
of Mrs. Viola Ruffner, who turned out to have an ample affect on his life. The lessons that I learned in
the home of Mrs. Ruffner were as valuable to me as any education I have ever gotten since,
(Washington 52). From Mrs. Ruffner, Washington learned about taking pride in having a clean living
area. She also encouraged his education during the time of his work there. After saving whatever
money he could, Washington set off for the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute. During

Pop Art In The 1960s
Years following World War II, the United States enjoyed an unprecedented period of economic and
political growth. The Vietnam War incited mass protests, the Civil Rights Movement sought equality
for African Americans, and the women s liberation movement gained momentum. Entertainment
stepped into the new level with the monumental super stars such as Elis Presley led the emergence of
Rock and Roll, Marilyn Monroe was a reigning film star, and television replaced radio as the
dominant media outlet. Yet by the late 1950s and early 1960s, a cultural revolution was underway, led
by activists, thinkers, and artists who sought to rethink and even overturn what was, in their eyes, a
stifling social order ruled by conformity. Following the transformation to popular of the world, the
new art movement had occurred, Pop Art. Pop artists began to look for inspiration in the world around
them, representing and, at times, making art directly from everyday items, consumer goods, and mass
media. When it emerged in the 1960s, Pop art was not just about bold colors and celebrity culture; it
brought the popular world from cartoons and advertising to apples and bananas into the realm of high
art, turning taste on its head in the process. It was in this climate of turbulence, experimentation, and
consumerism that a new generation of artists emerged in Britain and America in the mid to late 1950s.
They did this in a straightforward manner, using bold swaths of primary colors, often

Financial Statements And The Financial Position Of A Firm...
Introduction
The overall purpose of financial statements is the provision of relevant and concise information about
the financial position of a firm or other business enterprise. Financial statements allow a manager or
analyst to make informed judgments regarding the proven and likely future performance of a firm
prior to the making of important investment decisions (Bernstein and Wild, 2000).
Purpose of the Income Statement
According to Melicher and Norton (2014), the primary purpose of the income statement is to provide a
concise report of the revenues generated and expenses incurred by a business entity over a defined
time period typically a quarter or a year. Importantly, the revenues and expenses referred to in the
income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will often include advertising costs, the salaries and commissions earned by the sales force, and
general accounting costs such as for the preparation of financial records and statements (Melicher and
Norton, 2014).
The final type of expenses listed on a typical income statement is depreciation. This refers to the
estimates made on the reduction in value of key production and other assets over the period covered
by the income statement. This is regarded as a non cash expense and is often applied to items such as
plant and equipment, vehicle or aircraft fleets, and some types of real property (Melicher and Norton,
2014).
Purpose of the Balance Sheet
According to Melicher and Norton (2014), the primary purpose of the balance sheet is to summarize a
company s overall financial position at a fixed point in time typically the conclusion of a quarter or
year. A balance sheet is differentiated from an income statement in that the former is, effectively, a
snapshot of a business s financial position while an income statement provides a reflection of financial
performance over time. At its most basic, the balance sheet provides details on the firm s assets,
liabilities, and its shareholders equity as at a specific date.
Major Types of Assets
There are two major categories of assets listed on a typical balance sheet current assets, and property
and equipment (sometimes referred to as fixed assets).

Sudden Cardiac arrest is when the heart s electrical system starts malfunctioning and beats in a useless
rhythm causing the victim to become unconscious and to stop breathing almost immediately.
Sudden Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in the United States, killing around 325,000 people
a year.
It is also estimated that around 95 percent of victims die before being able to receive help.
Signs / symptoms
The symptoms of cardiac arrest are suddenly collapsing, losing consciousness, losing the ability to
breath, and losing the pulse in your heart. Signs of possibly having Cardiac arrest in the future include

Cloisonne Tripod Censer
The 19th century luxurious Cloisonné tripod censer has no known artist and is labeled to be from 1644
to 1911. It is made of enamel on copper alloy with a dimension of 28cm in height. In a display with
five objects, it was the most lavished in both form and colors. The ornamented pot can be associated
with higher society or respected people because the material of copper and enamel are, unlike clay or
bronzes, produced for specific groups of people with no mass production. Initially, the dominant light
blue color didn t look like a typical Chinese censer that I ve seen before. However, like other censers
we see in Chinese cultures today, this tripod censer would be seen as the centerpiece of an altar
surrounded by vases and candlesticks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The colors used in the enamel are light blue as its main background that symbolizes the sky, dark blue,
yellow, dark green, light green, red and white. Every shape has a thin golden outline, which explains
the unique and non industrialized manufacturing process. The fluid patterns seem to be filling up the
space in a non systematic nor a symmetrical way to reflect the natural behaviors of the plants. There
are no composition or main point of focus. Thus, the patterns are there to create the surface rather than
to illustrate a story. The empty areas such as the legs of the tripod are filled with curved vine patterns.
The curling vines overlap each other, creating a sense of dimension and space on a flat surface. The
leaf texture and lines make the vines recognizable. Moreover, the absence of the leaf on the middle
section of the lid shows that the curls on the lid are clouds intertwining with smaller dragons that are
hidden. This style reminisces the art of Zhou where interlacing animals formed intricate patterns.
Coincidentally, this is where the smoke or the cloud of the incense will flow through. This censer
portrays the commonly displayed theme of journey to heaven, as it is embodied by the elements of the
plants on Earth and the clouds from heaven. The use of Leiwen patterns in the vines and clouds
throughout the object helps unify the different

Density Investigation
5861
Are these Objects Made of the Same Material?
Every substance has its own unique density due to all of the atoms mass, size, and arrangement being
different for each atom. Density is the relationship between two characteristics of matter which are
mass and the occupied space. Density is a characteristic property, meaning the density of a substance
will stay the same. In an investigation the objects densities would be calculated to determine whether
the objects are made of the same material. The objects are all different colors, sizes, textures and
shapes. In order to find density, the mass and volume would need to be calculated.
In order to calculate the density of an object two things must be calculated the mass and volume of the
object. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The blue object has a density of 1.19g/cm3, while the black object has a density of 1.41g/cm3, and the
clear object has a density of 1.04g/cm3. Although the density difference is in the tenths it still is a
difference in the densities. For example, the difference in the density of neon versus sodium is 0.03
which is a small difference and because of the different densities the two substances are completely
different. The measurement of the volume in mL could have been better if the 10mL graduated
cylinder was used in place of the 50 mL. The calipers and graduated cylinder only measures to the
tenths which does not give as precise measurements as the balance. The human error causes the non
identical cm3 to mL measurement of the same objects causing a slight difference in the densities of the
same object. When comparing my data to another group doing the same experiment I found a possible
miscalculation of volume in mL for the clear object in my own experiment. Aside from the possible
miscalculation, the volume measured in the other group was to the ones place of a number while our
group measured to the tenths place. Since the top loader balance the other group used was different,
the masses were also different in the hundredths. They also stated that the objects are made of the
same material which according to their data is not

The Visible And Invisible In Edo Japan
The Visible and Invisible in Edo Japan The Edo period in Japan was the result of strict social control
and economic growth resulting in a burgeoning artistic scene. Art was a way of expressing the feelings
and desires that was denied by social norms imposed by an authoritarian government. As a result,
there was a clash of ideas that pushed artists to focus on subtle refinement of traditional styles and the
values therein. This sentiment not only applied to religious art, but to secular art forms as well due to
the wealthy patrons being a part of the systems that restricted society. However, this restriction created
a unique environment that birthed art and ideas that are unique to their time and place as the lack of
outside influences forced all to turn inwards for inspiration. Therefore, the balance between the visible
and the invisible is represented in the design of the art. The first artwork is Pair of Phoenix Overdoor
Panels (Ramma) which was designed in the 19th century during the Edo period for a Buddhist temple.
The elaborate wooden carving derives its aesthetics from the ideas and symbolism that are attached to
the phoenix. Being a mythical creature, the phoenix brought over much of its symbolism from China
when Buddhism was introduced to Japan during the 7th century. This example is carved of wood that
is lacquered and painted with metal accent inlays. Buddhist temples of the time had architecture that
resembled their Chinese counterparts, but reinterpreted to

Difference Between Rsa And Mvp Classification Analysis And...
1.1 What is representational similarity analysis?
Representational similarity analysis (RSA) is an analysis framework builds on a rich
psychological and mathematical literature, in which multi channel measures of neural activity
are quantitatively related to each other and to computational theory and behavior by comparing
RDMs. RDM is the representational dissimilarity matrix, which contains a cell for each pair of
experimental conditions. Each cell is a number reflecting the dissimilarity between the activity
patterns associated with the two conditions. The core of the of RSA is to use RDM as a signature
of the representations in brain regions and computational models (Kriegeskorte, Mur,
Bandettini, 2008).
1.2 The differences between RSA and MVP classification analysis and the new information
that can be obtained from representational similarity analysis that is not revealed by MVP

RSA is a particular versatile version of MVPA. It goes beyond testing of information in
regional response patterns and enables researchers to handle condition rich experiments without
predefined stimulus categories, to test conceptual and computational models, and to relate
representations between humans and monkeys, and even to related across different types of brain
activity measurements.

A Diagnostic Tool For Renal Disease And Hypertensive...
Introduction Proteinuria is often used to detect the presence of any type of proteins in the urine and
serves as a diagnostic tool for renal disease and hypertensive disorders. Among those disorders, pre
eclampsia is characterized by low renal perfusion and leakage of proteins in urine due to a damaged
glomerular base membrane (1). This condition is associated with a high risk of maternal complications
and prenatal mortality. Pre eclampsia is usually defined as a combination of hypertension, edema and
proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation and is determined by a threshold of 300mg/24 hours of proteins
(2). Normal urine excretion is up to 150mg/day (3). The most common test used in antenatal care to
screen proteinuria is the visual reagent dipstick. It is a semi quantitative and colorimetric method. The
stick changes colour when the reagent (tetrabromophenol) binds to the proteins. The binding is pH
dependent (albumin binds at a pH between 5 and 7, other proteins bind only at a pH below). If the
urinalysis by the dipstick is positive, a 24 hour urine collection is performed in order to confirm the
proteinuria and to estimate the total amount of protein (4). Another method available for detecting
proteinuria is called the Bradford assay. This quantitative method is based on the binding of proteins
with the dye Coomassie Blue which increases the absorption of the dye at 595nm. The absorbance
measured by spectrophotometry is related to the amount of proteins present in the

Why Youth Do Not Vote
Intro
Youth in industrialized countries currently are more educated than any generation has ever been.
While education levels have risen, the conventional wisdom is that this would cause levels of voter
turnout and party attachment to climb, however, this has not been the case. (Nevitte 1996, 50 51)
Despite the great deal of research on this topic, there is not consensus on the answer to this question.
In these interviews I attempted to look at how different forms of participation were viewed by
members of the LBGTQ+ community, in order to draw some inferences about why youth are less
likely to vote.
Hypothesis
LBGTQ+ students will be less likely to participate in traditional forms of political participation, such
as writing to an MP or becoming active in a Political Party, as a way to address equity issues. Instead
they will be more likely to engage in more grassroots, individual acts of activism.
Case selection
Addressing the question of why youth do not vote is a large task and one that would require much
more than two interviews. I chose to focus down onto the LBGTQ+ community as a most likely case
to find low levels of traditional political involvement and high levels of interpersonal grassroots
activism. Due to social views on being homosexual, gender queer, or transsexual, etc., until quite
recently, the LBGTQ+ community was totally excluded from traditional politics. This total exclusion
from traditional political involvement, means that it is more likely that

Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci: The Renaissance man
Leonardo Da Vinci was a successful man in more areas than artwork. From the time he was a boy, he
began studying the arts as well as the ideas of science, medicine, machinery, and much more. Da Vinci
s history is reflected in his paintings and inventions that have been able to change the world of then
and now. Leonardo s artistic vision led him down a prosperous path of life that has made him one of
the most innovative individuals the world has seen. With the help of a lot of childhood exposure to the
arts, along with the natural creativity born inside of him, Leonardo Da Vinci changed the fifteenth and
sixteenth centuries through his work.
Hardworking and curious from the beginning, Leonardo dove into any information he could get his
hands on in order to fulfill his natural talents of creation. Just at the age of 15 he began to work with
his father at the Verrochio work shop where he took the biggest step in his artwork. He grew up
around great artists, Verrochio himself, and mastered all the challenges art had too offer. He became so
good that around the age of 20 he made Verrochio retire in art, as well as become one of the most
famous painters known in Italy. Shortly after he began to work for a Duke, which is where he began to
branch into sculpting, designing buildings as well as weapons and machinery. Leonardo was never a
man of war because he hated the idea of people dying, but he had to pay his bills some how and that s

The Role of Autonomy and Responsibility Held by the Bourgeoisie during the Industrial Revolution
During the Industrial Revolution the population was broken up into two classes; the minority was the
rich, industrial middle class, the bourgeoisie, and the majority was the poor working class, the
proletariat. The bourgeoisie believed in their rights to gain wealth and preserve individuality and in
their duty to maintain these rights, which in turn determined the harsh laboring and living conditions
of the working class. The indignities forced upon the lower class also caused movements that
challenged the bourgeoisie to alter their beliefs. These included the creation of Communism, the
Christian Socialist Movement, utopian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their labor was necessary because wages rose only to a subsistent level. It was either work in
appalling surroundings or die of starvation.
Since this hard laboring class only received subsistent wages, their living conditions were bleak as
well. Wages were only high enough for most of the working class to buy products necessary for
survival, such as food and shelter. In his essay, ìThe Condition of the Working Class in England,î
Frederick Engels described the city of Manchester, England, which was a primary manufacturing
town. Everywhere heaps of debris, refuse, and offal; standing pools for gutters, and a stench which
alone would make it impossible for a human being in any degree civilized to live in such a district (2).
At the end of this essay, he admitted his description could not truthfully represent the reality of it. The
breakup of the working class family also occurred due to such low wages. In another essay, The
Impact of the Factory System on Women and the Family,î Engels described the moral degeneration of
working class families. He argued that without a mother or a father there to raise the children, they
grew up without any authority figures except the harsh discipline they received at the factory jobs they
worked as small children. He said, ìand children growing up in this savage way, amidst these
demoralizing influences, are expected to turn out goody goody and moral in the end! Verily the

Worm Lab Report
Title: The Effect of Nicotine on the Heart Rate of the Lumbriculus Variegatus
Introduction:
Background This lab is being done to demonstrate the effects of stimulants on the circulatory system
of blackworms. In this lab, the stimulant we have chosen to use is Nicotine. A stimulant is an agent
that causes increased activity, especially in the nervous or cardiovascular systems. In this lab, we will
put blackworms into the Nicotine to look at the differences in pulse rates when compared to a control.
The proper name for blackworms is Lumbriculus Variegatus, they are freshwater worms most
commonly found in North America and Europe. The blood in blackworms circulates from the dorsal
blood vessel toward the head through a series of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

4 | 13 | 5 | 14 | 6 | 12 | 7 | 15 | 8 | 15 | 9 | 22 |
Mean 15.4, Median 15
Table 1 shows the heart rates of worms in the control, their average heart rate is at 10.7 pulse/min.
Table 2 shows the worms in the 2.5mL of Nicotine which proved to be too strong. Table 3 shows the
heart rates of worms in the diluted solution of 2.5mL Nicotine and 1mL H2O. Table 3 shows that the
heart rate of worms is faster in the nicotine with the average pulse rate at 15.5 pulse/min.
This table shows the data for the 15 control worms in water and then the same 15 in Nicotine. There
are not 15 worms in the nicotine solution because our first solution was too strong and 6 of the worms
died. The solution being used in this graph is 2.5 mL of Nicotine and 1 mL H20. This graph shows that
the pulse rates of worms in Nicotine tend to be higher than that of the worms in water. This data
proves the idea that stimulants raise heart rate.

As H. Jackson Brown Jr. said, You can not change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust the

book, Elsewhere, has made me notice the importance of making the most of life and that when it
seems hard, it s just part of growing up. Especially with both characters Owen and Elizabeth, you see
a true difference in their personality from beginning to end. Even though on the outside the characters
are getting younger, internally they are maturing and learning to move on. I could really relate to these
characters as they struggle through their life in Elsewhere, by completing their goals that I can relate

In particular, the just mentioned strategy by European Union aims to set up all those measures useful

Referring to this initiative, it comes to light that social enterprises and, more generally, all the actors

Zinc Deficiency Can Cause Damage to the Brain Essay

During the past few hundred years, zinc has been known to be the vital mineral and catalytic of a lot
of proteins and a signalling messenger who is released by neural activity. (choi koh, 1998) Since zinc

Food Source of Zinc
The distribution of zinc is widely and is typically associated with the protein fraction and/or nucleic

sources of dietary zinc which also can be found in eggs, dairy product with lesser amount (shown in

The Reawakening, by Primo Levi, is a sequel to his first novel, Survival in Auschwitz. It is a deeply
powerful memoir of his liberation from the most brutal concentration camps of them all, Auschwitz.
Published in 1946, the story of Primo Levi s pursuit for freedom has inspired many people around the
world. Levi s quest back home to Italy was a grueling mission, from ruthless acts of the Nazi regime,
the traumatic effects of imprisonment in Auschwitz and the near death experience of hunger and

was no longer with them. It was very difficult for Jews to recuperate from the racial purification
attempts of the Holocaust, but those who showed hope and perseverance through theses grueling times
were able to regain their life and self worth. Throughout Levi s reawakening, he met very
extraordinary people, many of whom are survivors of the Holocaust just like him. These people can be
seen as a symbol in Levi s reawakening helping him establish new life after liberation. Jews are
deeply hated amongst the European nation and Levi encounters three authority figures they guide him
with rules that he must abide in order to escape detestation. During a walk along the churches of
Cracow, Levi came across the first authority figure, a priest. They carried the most extravagant and
chaotic conversation in Latin. (Levi, 50) At the end of their encounter the priest advises Levi not to
speak German in public. The second authority figure that Levi encountered was a lawyer traveling
through Treblinka. He was a Polish man but he could speak German as well. Like the priest, he also
advised Levi not to speak German in public. A police officer, the third figure of authority in Levi s
reawakening, showed compassion towards Levi and offered him a night in warmth, in jail.

Abstract. The Packaging Process At Ninkasi Brewery Adds
Abstract
The packaging process at Ninkasi Brewery adds value to their end result that is delivering their best
quality craft brews. Processes are key elements to a business s ability to create and distribute products
that will meet the needs of their target market; therefore the need for industries to analyze specific
processes within their organizations is significant. This paper is an outline of understanding Ninkasi s
packaging and bottling process and how the brewery can apply quantitative and qualitative tools to
potentially reduce defects in this specific process.

continued efforts to adopt more sustainable practices throughout the brewery. Overall, the company
has several valuable traits and I look forward to digging deeper and gaining new knowledge about the
company s operations.
Operation Description The operation in which I plan to explore is Ninkasi s packaging process. I

in their packaging process such as; low fills, crooked labels, chipped, or broken bottles, and equipment
shut downs. First I will discuss how these problems can be identified. Second, I will apply quantitative
tools to the problems. Third, I will provide insights into how Ninkasi may use these tools to

The Clarity Of Scripture Analysis
Imagine yourself in a blustery sea with every human being in the world. Everyone is drowning, and
the only source of life is on a ship where the captain lives. Insistently, the captain throws out life rings,
but people, in the mist of their drowning, refuse and rebuke him. As ridiculous as this may sound, this
is how the fallen world today responds to the message of the most influential book written, the Bible.
As time passes, people pass, but God s words will not pass away (Luke 21:33). His words are the

This means that the Bible is ONLY understood by those that are seeking God s help and willing to
follow it (Wayne Grudem). Those who do not have the work of the Holy Spirit in them will not see the
truthfulness of Scripture. Psalm 119:130 says, The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts
understanding to the simple. In addition, 2 Peter 3:16 also goes on to state that there are some things in

Three Most Important Composers of the Twentieth Centruy
Music underwent a plethora of changes throughout the twentieth century, including a complete
transformation from the large symphonic works of the late 1800s to the short, electronic ditties of the
late 1900s. With all that change, choosing only three composers to represent the entire twentieth
century would be impossible. For example, the innovation of electronic music added an entirely new
genre to the world of classical music; however, the three composers discussed here did not write in
that style and instead influenced other aspects of the music world. Arnold Schoenberg, Aaron
Copland, and Igor Stravinsky each greatly impacted the musical world around them. Schoenberg s
journey away from tonality to serialism changed the way that composers wrote for the rest of the
century, while Copland s music emancipated American sound from the European styles. Stravinsky
brought many musical styles to the height of what could be accomplished in each one, and his
excellence influenced many composers during and after his time. Schoenberg, Copland, and
Stravinsky represent three of the most important composers of the twentieth century. The founder of
the second Viennese School, Arnold Schoenberg, was known as a prominent composer and a
comprehensive theorist who addressed both aesthetic and philosophical issues. Schoenberg s early
works served to sum up Romantic ideas. Written in 1903 and orchestrated in 1910, Gurrelieder was a
pinnacle of the Romantic style. Schoenberg composed

I found, through further research, that sexual abuse includes more than bodily contact. Which means,
having a child view pornographic material is considered sexual abuse. A HelpGuide.Org article, Child
Abuse and Neglect, explained that sexual abuse victims feel guilty and shameful for the abuse they
have endured. Can you believe that? They are made to feel as though their word versus the abuser s
word means nothing. I have often heard that men/women that sexually abuse children are most often a
family member or friend of the family. Think about that for a minute. How are children supposed to
process what is happening to them by this trusted adult they have known (probably) most of their
lives? According to eSchoolToday, children who are abused sexually tend to show some physical
symptoms (hiding, STDs, and genital pain), health symptoms (anorexia, bowel disorders, and repeated
headaches/stomach aches), and behavioral symptoms (substance abuse, withdraw, and decreased
school performance/participation). Again, the long term effects of this type of abuse mimic the other
two mentioned thus far. Melissa and Joshua Hall, however, provided some additional effects in their
article entitled, The Long Term Effects of Childhood Sexual Abuse: Counseling Implications. The
article reiterated that stress and anxiety play a role long term. They also explained how former
children of sexual abuse tend to act one of two ways about sexual activity in their teen and/or adult
years. They either overindulge...OR...act completely uninterested. Again, every child will respond
differently to abusive situations. Trying to cope with the debilitating effects of abuse will be discussed

Essay on Functionalism in Education
Having attended public schools throughout my childhood and adolescence, I never was familiar with
the term functionalism and its many elements. After observing and analyzing my field placement
classroom I have come to understand the concept of functionalism to some extent. In general,
functionalists see schools as serving to socialize students to adapt to the economic, political, and social
institutions of that society (Feinberg, p.6, 2004). They also theorize that in order for societies to
survive, they must carry out vital functions such as, attaining fundamental knowledge and acquiring
essential skills and proficiency, acknowledging certain norms and values within their community, and
recognizing authority figures. It is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As soon as their teacher, Mrs. Root asked them to settle down, they instantly became silent. This is an
example of an unspoken expectation of the teacher and is one of many hidden curriculums that I
witnessed in the classroom. Another instance was during instruction; Mrs. Root had asked a question
pertaining to shapes and who ever knew the answer, demonstrated this particular hidden curriculum by
raising their hand. The functionalist concept, hidden curriculum, is best defined as organizational
features and routines of school life that provide the structure needed to develop the psychological
dispositions appropriate for work and citizenship in industrial society (Feinberg, p. 21, 2004). It is
intended to assist in achieving norms, learning one s position in society, and how to think of oneself.
Hidden curriculum has also been explained as making the transition from family to the real world less
difficult. This concept applies to the examples I gave because when the teacher asked the students to
settle down, they instantly knew that they needed to follow directions. The idea that teachers are
authority figures and deserve to be respected is instilled in children at a very young age and is
expected to be upheld. As for students raising their hands when wanting to speak or answer a question,
this has also been implanted in children s minds and is a norm in today s society. I conducted my

Darnay Vs Carton
In Charles Dickens s historical fiction, A Tale of Two Cities, set prior to and during the French

characteristics, such as their love for one Lucie Manette and their being orphans, but overall they are
opposites of each other. The former is an alcoholic, aimless man, while the latter is more ambitious.
Despite these similarities and obvious differences, Sydney Carton s foil is not Charles Darnay, but

Where Carton is full of love and compassion, Madame Defarge is full of hatred and cruelty. For
instance, Carton comforts a seamstress before their deaths despite being complete strangers. Before
she walks up to the guillotine, he tells her that there is no Time there, and no trouble there, (Dickens
380) referring to heaven. Even though he is also dying, he holds his head high to comfort a stranger. In
fact, according to Literary Critic David D. Marcus, [Carton s] changed state appears to the very last
not only in the dramatic act of dying in the place of another but also in the kindness that he displays
toward the seamstress who precedes him to the guillotine (Marcus 33). As Marcus mentions, Carton
dies in place of Darnay so that he can live peacefully with his family. Carton s legacy lives on through
the hearts of Lucie and Darnay as a result of his act of self sacrifice impacting their whole family. His
acts of kindness illustrate who Carton truly is. However, Madame Defarge dies without a legacy
because of her hateful and cruel actions. For instance, when she leads the women into the Bastille,
they are armed alike in revenge and hunger (Dickens 218). These women are hateful and see nothing
but revenge. Once again, Madame Defarge s bloodthirsty side is mentioned when Carton overhears
her telling her husband, I have this race a long time on my register, doomed to destruction and
extermination (345). Even though the Manettes had nothing to do with the Evrémonds crimes against
her family, she wants an entire innocent family to die. She dies by her own weapon during a scuffle
with Miss Pross without ever seeing her goals come to fruition. While Carton s memory lives on as a
result of his love and compassion, hatred taints Madame Defarge s

How Did Oda Nobunaga s Contribution To The Reunification...
From the mid fifteenth to the late sixteenth century, Japan was in a period of warring states. Oda
Nobunaga, a prominent warlord was the first to begin the reunification of Japan. He was a man who
had no qualms about killing his enemies. In one of his letters, he boasted about his executions. In one
town, Nobunaga s men took as many as one and a half thousand heads, and in the envious we took in
all two thousand more (Theodore de Bary 448). Despite his violet nature, Nobunaga was also
economically conscious. During his campaign, he abolished toll barriers as they hindered commerce
and encouraged free markets (Butler 312). After his assassination, Toyotomi Hideyoshi picked up the
torch and continued to unite country. He created an early version of the class system separating the
farmers from the warriors, and it was enforced through a sword hunt. Farmers were prevented from
owning weapons such as swords and guns. The sword hunt also served as a method to reduce villager
rebellions and to freeze movement between social classes (Butler 313). After Hideyoshi s death, there
was a battle for power between daimyo supporting Hideyoshi s heir and those taking control for
themselves. Tokugawa Ieyasu was successful in becoming the new ... Show more content on

Those related to the Tokugawa family, Family Lords, and ancestors of loyal vassals, Inner Lords, were
given land around Edo and placed between Outer Lords, ancestors who became vassals after the Battle
of Sekigahara (Pitelka 36). By pushing his enemies further from his base in Edo, Ieyasu assured
protection from an enemy assault. Even if his enemies wanted to overthrow him, they would have to
cross through the territories of his allies. This demonstrated that Ieyasu was a strategic man as he
rewarded questionable allies, but he also kept them at arm s length. Even though the shogun had
authority over the domains, he lacked central

fearful of zeus power at the same time she was angry that she has to let go of Odysseus since she was
the one who saved his life Calypso said to Hermes that Gods are jealous of her happiness, but she still

Webb (2017) stated that the competing middleware vendor Extension recently acquired a mobility
platform named Vocera. Although Vocera was considered as a mobility, communication platform,
COHC has made a significant investment with the use of the Apple iPhone and therefore the use of
Vocera would be a costly change in direction. Ouellette (2017) and Webb (2017) agreed that the next
step would be to explore the medical equipment integration capabilities of Connexall s alarm
management middleware solution.
Medical Equipment Interoperability. The project team evaluated the five primary types of medical
equipment systems that were determined that interoperability would be critical by NICU clinicians for
effective communication. Ouellette (2017) investigated critical medical equipment to determine the
feasibility for integration with alarm management middleware and mobile applications. The NICU
clinical team identified the Phillips patient monitoring, pumps, incubator, ventilator and the nurse call
as medical equipment that is vital to their workflow.
Physiological Monitoring. The Philips patient monitoring system can be centrally managed and has
the ability to send patient alarm data from the medical device via a transmission protocol to the
middleware alarm system. The system also has localized visibility and audible sounds on the local
patient monitor inside the patient room

The Social Construction Of Heterosexuality
How you feel isn t what you are
Bethany E. Drake
Composition 1010
Shannon Ward
17 October 2017
How you feel isn t what you are This is a argumentative essay against the notions of gender roles
portrayed by masculine and feminine traits, from section four of Composing Gender How Do We
Define Sexuality ? The idea that one individual can feel masculine or feel feminine does not make
them a male or female. Throughout Composing Gender, many readings refer to sexuality as an
inevitable part of gender construction, several authors use the terms heteronormative and compulsory
heterosexuality to describe a social structure in which the expression of sexuality is seen as normal
only. (Groner, 2014, par.3 p. 184) Your gender is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
209) The use of the word faggot is the worst epithet anyone could call you as a male or female. This is
the assumption that you are not meeting the un stated facts of masculinity, causing you to seem
weaker, revealing more feminine traits. Bringing on the assumption that you are in fact gay or lesbian
or even bi. It is also said within this passage that most boys call others faggots as a joke but won t call
anyone a fag if there is a homosexual around (Pascoe, 2011, p. 212 213). Though overall no one is
claimed a faggot at all, the only thing that these children used to determine who was or wasn t a fag
was their clothes how they took care of themselves and other things. Pascoe seems that the term
faggot is more of a way for kids to put up a wall against homophobia, and create some type of borders
against male sexuality. Going back to my thesis, these adolescent boys already know the difference
between a gay and straight boy. They can tell when one is being very prominent about his sexuality as
stated above, so they won t call them a fag. These boys are natural, and practice heteronormativity to
prove they are not unnatural or heterosexual. In order to fit in with the rest of their school and to
prevent being called a faggot. In Sandra Bem s essay On Judith Butler she analyzes Judith Butler s

The World Of North America
The continent of North America had been inhabited by native Indian cultures for centuries prior to
European expansion. The Indians had established their community systems around North and South
America including what is now the northern, southern and western United States. Despite their
existence in the Americas, Europeans countries still attempted to colonize the continent. While some
historians might have argued the arrival of Europeans meant a better, freer life for most if not all
people , this was primarily true for white Christian Europeans. Even though some colonists
experienced more political freedoms, these freedoms were very limited. In reality, economic freedom
was also limited for both Europeans and Indians; additionally, both groups suffered religious
persecution at the hands of the government and missionaries.
The rights given to Catholics and Quakers to serve in political positions were not allowed in England.
So, when the Europeans arrived to the new world, these new ideas were introduced. In 1680
Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn (46, Foner) and later promoted religious tolerance. This
soon promoted political freedoms ... all person who also profess to believe in Jesus Christ...shall be
capable...to serve this Government in any capacity, both legislatively and executively. (47, Foner) But
around 1632, in Maryland ...the early colonists included a number of Catholic gentlemen and priests,
and Calvert appointed many Catholics to public office. (27,

The Senate Bill 1365, By Albert Hale Former Navajo Nation...
Chapter four A Creation Story introduces the Senate Bill 1365 now revised into two laws ARS 15 341
and ARS 15 710, Albert Hale former Navajo Nation president and Arizona State Senator introduced
Bill 1365 in 2004. His intentions behind SB 1365 was to eradicate the so called mutual respect
between dominant society and Native Americans specifically Dine people. In order for respect to be
reciprocal dominant society needs to know who we are as Dine people as well as our history,
government, culture and sovereignty. As the bill is transitioning through the process of being approved
there were issues the AZ state board did not agree with. They only approved the history to be taught
because they keep control of what they want society to know about us. Just like sovereignty as Native
Nation we are semi sovereign meaning we do not have all the requirements of a sovereign nation. But
the two main powers we exercise is self government, and taxing revenue through gaming. Native
American has been a huge part of who we are as Native Nations the Next chapter five Emergence
Story discusses in detail the Arizona Revised Statues ARS 15 341 and ARS 15 710 how the different
Arizona schools interpreted and their knowledge of the two ARS laws while they were educators.
About 60% of those individuals had no knowledge of the Native American social studies standards.
Those urban teachers in AZ public schools ethnicity varied as did their background, schooling, and AZ

Essay about Africa Before European Arrival
Africa Before European Arrival People of the early African kingdoms were able to create successful
trade routes with Europe and Asia, become very wealthy from conquering and gaining land, and were
able to have a strong central government. All of this was done before the Europeans had reached
Africa. Trade flourished on the East African coast, especially when trading was established with India
and Arabia. African kingdoms were prosperous, because of their success with not only trading but also
with their ability to conquer land. A governmental structure is key to allowing any kingdom to thrive,
and the African people were able to achieve this. Once Africa got involved with the major trading
centers, trade improved and they were able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the kingdom of Benin, making castes with bronze was introduced to the rest of the world. Now this
kind of work is done with clay, and wax, and red metal (copper), and soldier (zinc) and lead, and
fire...Next it is set aside to cool, then (the outside covering of clay) is broken off, (Document 7). The
art of creating bronze castes was very popular in Benin and the popularity soon spread to most of
Northern Africa. Even before Europeans came to Africa, the kingdoms in Africa were quite wealthy.
As previously mentioned, Ghana was a very strong kingdom in which its people were also incredibly
wealthy. Their government appeared to be wealthy as well, which assisted Ghana in being able to
control the gold and salt trade. An Arab scholar, Al Bakri, wrote about the king s court and how
basically everything that the court had was gold (Document 2). The point of view of this document
was also positive, and that is because scholars are usually upper class, just like the king s court. Al
Bakri thought very highly of the court, and explains in detail how every person has some gold on them
and how their surroundings also possessed gold. Ghana had a strong army and an intelligent political
counsel, which made other countries fear them. Nations around Ghana did not want to start problems
and usually just maintained peace with Ghana (Document 3). Ghana was not the only successful
kingdom, one of the leaders of Mali, Mansa Musa,

What Is The Relationship Between The Protestant Ethic And...
In Max Weber s book The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, examines the relationship
between the ethics of ascetic Protestantism and the emergence of the spirit of modern capitalism.
Weber discusses that the religious ideas of groups such as the Calvinists played a role in creating the
capitalistic spirit. In Chapter two, Weber targets the concept of capitalism, which tends to assume or
argue that its existence is inevitable, that it is fundamental to human nature, or reflects an important
step in a universal series of stages. Weber s account brings such claims into question. Corresponding
to Weber, the spirit necessary for successful capitalistic activities is not natural. Striving for profit is

Weber draws links between the rise of Calvinism and modern capitalism. Weber, however, is more
cautious overall than Marx in his willingness to make predictions for the future. Overall, while there
are differences between these two theorists, they both make strong arguments for the link between
economics, culture, and ideology. They dispel the notion that society is the creation of individuals who
are consciously and freely making choices, and show how modes of economic production are both
producers and products of cultural and social

still many differences. There are a few similarities between the book and the 2018 movie. To begin

Meg s dad. The movie and book also is alike because when they were on Camazotz, It was always

Strong informal institutions The definition of informal institution according to Douglass North is that informal institutions are specific organizations or rules that constrain and influence human behavior. It is the structure of human actions by providing incentives that shape economic and political behavior. Informal institutions are not written in rules or laws, but still constrain the behavior of people. Antonio Gramsci, Italian neo Marxist theorist talked about the hegemonic stability, which is the dominant class constructed norms in society, with the coercion consent. Constructed norms embedded in political cultural value and accepted by lower class in society. Encompassing this war, the anti war movement was fueled by three ambitious groups who, in their quest for distinct changes, induced the downfall of the liberalist democratic party and set the stage for the new conservative republicans with three movements that made up the anti war radicalism. These three movements include, the New Left movement, Black Power and Women s liberation movement. The most important lesson they learned was that anything the white man does is never in the best interest for the black man or community. This led to a growing rage amongst blacks and led them to take a stand against the problems they faced. • 6. A Short Note On Ct Dose Calculation ( Ct ) iSAP CT Dose Calculation Introduction: The role of computed tomography (CT) in imaging has risen substantially in the previous decade (Hess et al. 2014). With its increasing demand, one of the most predominant concerns for radiation workers is the dose administered to the patient (Hess et al. 2014). Therefore, the calculation of dose is a parameter that must be monitored closely. Task 1: Exposure Exposure is the amount of electrical charge produced by ionising radiation per unit mass of air. It is measured in Coulomb per kilogram C kg 1, where its former unit was Roentgen (Schoepf 2005). Absorbed dose The absorbed dose is the energy (joules) deposited by ionising radiation per unit mass of material in kilograms, as a result of exposure to ionising radiation. The absorbed dose is therefore measured in J/kg or gray (Gy) where 1Gy = 1J/kg. The absorbed dose is calculated by multiplying exposure with W, where W is the conversion factor from exposure to absorbed dose depending on the absorbing medium (Siegel 2008). Equivalent dose The absorbed dose is a poor indicator of the likely biological effect, as the biological effect of the same absorbed dose will depend on the type of radiation. This is because the linear energy transfer of radiations that produce dense ionisation tracks cause more biological damage per unit dose than low linear energy transfer radiations, and thus must have higher radiation weighting factors. Therefore, the equivalent dose (HT) is measured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The sheer thought of Siddartha following in his father s footsteps brings him immense dissatisfaction. Even though his father is a noble and good man, Siddartha believes that his father lacks what he is ultimately searching for, enlightenment. Siddhartha experiences multiple instances of conflict between his search for truth and traditional social structure and addresses it by seeking out new experiences. Washington expressed in his autobiography, Up From Slavery, one element has remained the same through his influences, education, public speaking, and teaching of others. • 9. Pop Art In The 1960s Years following World War II, the United States enjoyed an unprecedented period of economic and political growth. The Vietnam War incited mass protests, the Civil Rights Movement sought equality for African Americans, and the women s liberation movement gained momentum. Entertainment stepped into the new level with the monumental super stars such as Elis Presley led the emergence of Rock and Roll, Marilyn Monroe was a reigning film star, and television replaced radio as the dominant media outlet. Yet by the late 1950s and early 1960s, a cultural revolution was underway, led by activists, thinkers, and artists who sought to rethink and even overturn what was, in their eyes, a stifling social order ruled by conformity. Following the transformation to popular of the world, the new art movement had occurred, Pop Art. Pop artists began to look for inspiration in the world around them, representing and, at times, making art directly from everyday items, consumer goods, and mass media. When it emerged in the 1960s, Pop art was not just about bold colors and celebrity culture; it brought the popular world from cartoons and advertising to apples and bananas into the realm of high art, turning taste on its head in the process. • 18. The Visible And Invisible In Edo Japan The Visible and Invisible in Edo Japan The Edo period in Japan was the result of strict social control and economic growth resulting in a burgeoning artistic scene. Art was a way of expressing the feelings and desires that was denied by social norms imposed by an authoritarian government. As a result, there was a clash of ideas that pushed artists to focus on subtle refinement of traditional styles and the values therein. This sentiment not only applied to religious art, but to secular art forms as well due to the wealthy patrons being a part of the systems that restricted society. However, this restriction created a unique environment that birthed art and ideas that are unique to their time and place as the lack of outside influences forced all to turn inwards for inspiration. Therefore, the balance between the visible and the invisible is represented in the design of the art. The first artwork is Pair of Phoenix Overdoor Panels (Ramma) which was designed in the 19th century during the Edo period for a Buddhist temple. The elaborate wooden carving derives its aesthetics from the ideas and symbolism that are attached to the phoenix. Being a mythical creature, the phoenix brought over much of its symbolism from China when Buddhism was introduced to Japan during the 7th century. Representational similarity analysis (RSA) is an analysis framework builds on a rich psychological and mathematical literature, in which multi channel measures of neural activity are quantitatively related to each other and to computational theory and behavior by comparing RDMs. RDM is the representational dissimilarity matrix, which contains a cell for each pair of experimental conditions. Each cell is a number reflecting the dissimilarity between the activity patterns associated with the two conditions. The core of the of RSA is to use RDM as a signature of the representations in brain regions and computational models (Kriegeskorte, Mur, Bandettini, 2008). 1.2 The differences between RSA and MVP classification analysis and the new information that can be obtained from representational similarity analysis that is not revealed by MVP classification or univariate analysis. • 22. A Diagnostic Tool For Renal Disease And Hypertensive... Introduction Proteinuria is often used to detect the presence of any type of proteins in the urine and serves as a diagnostic tool for renal disease and hypertensive disorders. Among those disorders, pre eclampsia is characterized by low renal perfusion and leakage of proteins in urine due to a damaged glomerular base membrane (1). This condition is associated with a high risk of maternal complications and prenatal mortality. Pre eclampsia is usually defined as a combination of hypertension, edema and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation and is determined by a threshold of 300mg/24 hours of proteins (2). Normal urine excretion is up to 150mg/day (3). The most common test used in antenatal care to screen proteinuria is the visual reagent dipstick. It is a semi quantitative and colorimetric method. The stick changes colour when the reagent (tetrabromophenol) binds to the proteins. The binding is pH dependent (albumin binds at a pH between 5 and 7, other proteins bind only at a pH below). If the urinalysis by the dipstick is positive, a 24 hour urine collection is performed in order to confirm the proteinuria and to estimate the total amount of protein (4). Another method available for detecting proteinuria is called the Bradford assay. This quantitative method is based on the binding of proteins with the dye Coomassie Blue which increases the absorption of the dye at 595nm. The absorbance measured by spectrophotometry is related to the amount of proteins present in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While education levels have risen, the conventional wisdom is that this would cause levels of voter turnout and party attachment to climb, however, this has not been the case. (Nevitte 1996, 50 51) Despite the great deal of research on this topic, there is not consensus on the answer to this question. In these interviews I attempted to look at how different forms of participation were viewed by members of the LBGTQ+ community, in order to draw some inferences about why youth are less likely to vote. Hypothesis LBGTQ+ students will be less likely to participate in traditional forms of political participation, such as writing to an MP or becoming active in a Political Party, as a way to address equity issues. Instead they will be more likely to engage in more grassroots, individual acts of activism. Case selection Addressing the question of why youth do not vote is a large task and one that would require much more than two interviews. I chose to focus down onto the LBGTQ+ community as a most likely case to find low levels of traditional political involvement and high levels of interpersonal grassroots activism. Due to social views on being homosexual, gender queer, or transsexual, etc., until quite recently, the LBGTQ+ community was totally excluded from traditional politics. This total exclusion from traditional political involvement, means that it is more likely that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this lab, the stimulant we have chosen to use is Nicotine. A stimulant is an agent that causes increased activity, especially in the nervous or cardiovascular systems. In this lab, we will put blackworms into the Nicotine to look at the differences in pulse rates when compared to a control. The proper name for blackworms is Lumbriculus Variegatus, they are freshwater worms most commonly found in North America and Europe. • 36. Three Most Important Composers of the Twentieth Centruy Music underwent a plethora of changes throughout the twentieth century, including a complete transformation from the large symphonic works of the late 1800s to the short, electronic ditties of the late 1900s. With all that change, choosing only three composers to represent the entire twentieth century would be impossible. For example, the innovation of electronic music added an entirely new genre to the world of classical music; however, the three composers discussed here did not write in that style and instead influenced other aspects of the music world. Arnold Schoenberg, Aaron Copland, and Igor Stravinsky each greatly impacted the musical world around them. Schoenberg s journey away from tonality to serialism changed the way that composers wrote for the rest of the century, while Copland s music emancipated American sound from the European styles. Stravinsky brought many musical styles to the height of what could be accomplished in each one, and his excellence influenced many composers during and after his time. Schoenberg, Copland, and Stravinsky represent three of the most important composers of the twentieth century. The founder of the second Viennese School, Arnold Schoenberg, was known as a prominent composer and a comprehensive theorist who addressed both aesthetic and philosophical issues. They are made to feel as though their word versus the abuser s word means nothing. I have often heard that men/women that sexually abuse children are most often a family member or friend of the family. Think about that for a minute. How are children supposed to process what is happening to them by this trusted adult they have known (probably) most of their lives? After observing and analyzing my field placement classroom I have come to understand the concept of functionalism to some extent. In general, functionalists see schools as serving to socialize students to adapt to the economic, political, and social institutions of that society (Feinberg, p.6, 2004). They also theorize that in order for societies to survive, they must carry out vital functions such as, attaining fundamental knowledge and acquiring essential skills and proficiency, acknowledging certain norms and values within their community, and recognizing authority figures. The functionalist concept, hidden curriculum, is best defined as organizational features and routines of school life that provide the structure needed to develop the psychological dispositions appropriate for work and citizenship in industrial society (Feinberg, p. 21, 2004). It is intended to assist in achieving norms, learning one s position in society, and how to think of oneself. Hidden curriculum has also been explained as making the transition from family to the real world less difficult. This concept applies to the examples I gave because when the teacher asked the students to settle down, they instantly knew that they needed to follow directions. The idea that teachers are authority figures and deserve to be respected is instilled in children at a very young age and is expected to be upheld. • 44. The Social Construction Of Heterosexuality How you feel isn t what you are Bethany E. Drake Composition 1010 Shannon Ward 17 October 2017 How you feel isn t what you are This is a argumentative essay against the notions of gender roles portrayed by masculine and feminine traits, from section four of Composing Gender How Do We Define Sexuality ? The idea that one individual can feel masculine or feel feminine does not make them a male or female. Throughout Composing Gender, many readings refer to sexuality as an inevitable part of gender construction, several authors use the terms heteronormative and compulsory heterosexuality to describe a social structure in which the expression of sexuality is seen as normal only. (Groner, 2014, par.3 p. 184) Your gender is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 209) The use of the word faggot is the worst epithet anyone could call you as a male or female. This is the assumption that you are not meeting the un stated facts of masculinity, causing you to seem weaker, revealing more feminine traits. Bringing on the assumption that you are in fact gay or lesbian or even bi. It is also said within this passage that most boys call others faggots as a joke but won t call anyone a fag if there is a homosexual around (Pascoe, 2011, p. 212 213). Though overall no one is claimed a faggot at all, the only thing that these children used to determine who was or wasn t a fag was their clothes how they took care of themselves and other things. Pascoe seems that the term faggot is more of a way for kids to put up a wall against homophobia, and create some type of borders against male sexuality. Going back to my thesis, these adolescent boys already know the difference between a gay and straight boy. They can tell when one is being very prominent about his sexuality as stated above, so they won t call them a fag. These boys are natural, and practice heteronormativity to prove they are not unnatural or heterosexual. In order to fit in with the rest of their school and to prevent being called a faggot. • 45. The World Of North America The continent of North America had been inhabited by native Indian cultures for centuries prior to European expansion. The Indians had established their community systems around North and South America including what is now the northern, southern and western United States. Despite their existence in the Americas, Europeans countries still attempted to colonize the continent. While some historians might have argued the arrival of Europeans meant a better, freer life for most if not all people , this was primarily true for white Christian Europeans. Even though some colonists experienced more political freedoms, these freedoms were very limited. In reality, economic freedom was also limited for both Europeans and Indians; additionally, both groups suffered religious persecution at the hands of the government and missionaries. The rights given to Catholics and Quakers to serve in political positions were not allowed in England. So, when the Europeans arrived to the new world, these new ideas were introduced. In 1680 Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn (46, Foner) and later promoted religious tolerance. This soon promoted political freedoms ... all person who also profess to believe in Jesus Christ...shall be capable...to serve this Government in any capacity, both legislatively and executively. Chapter four A Creation Story introduces the Senate Bill 1365 now revised into two laws ARS 15 341 and ARS 15 710, Albert Hale former Navajo Nation president and Arizona State Senator introduced Bill 1365 in 2004. His intentions behind SB 1365 was to eradicate the so called mutual respect between dominant society and Native Americans specifically Dine people. In order for respect to be reciprocal dominant society needs to know who we are as Dine people as well as our history, government, culture and sovereignty. As the bill is transitioning through the process of being approved there were issues the AZ state board did not agree with. They only approved the history to be taught because they keep control of what they want society to know about us. Just like sovereignty as Native Nation we are semi sovereign meaning we do not have all the requirements of a sovereign nation. But the two main powers we exercise is self government, and taxing revenue through gaming. Native American has been a huge part of who we are as Native Nations the Next chapter five Emergence Story discusses in detail the Arizona Revised Statues ARS 15 341 and ARS 15 710 how the different Arizona schools interpreted and their knowledge of the two ARS laws while they were educators. About 60% of those individuals had no knowledge of the Native American social studies standards. Those urban teachers in AZ public schools ethnicity varied as did their background, schooling, and AZ licensure. Each individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Essay about Africa Before European Arrival Africa Before European Arrival People of the early African kingdoms were able to create successful trade routes with Europe and Asia, become very wealthy from conquering and gaining land, and were able to have a strong central government. All of this was done before the Europeans had reached Africa. Trade flourished on the East African coast, especially when trading was established with India and Arabia. African kingdoms were prosperous, because of their success with not only trading but also with their ability to conquer land. A governmental structure is key to allowing any kingdom to thrive, and the African people were able to achieve this. Once Africa got involved with the major trading centers, trade improved and they were able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The art of creating bronze castes was very popular in Benin and the popularity soon spread to most of Northern Africa. Even before Europeans came to Africa, the kingdoms in Africa were quite wealthy. As previously mentioned, Ghana was a very strong kingdom in which its people were also incredibly wealthy. Their government appeared to be wealthy as well, which assisted Ghana in being able to control the gold and salt trade. An Arab scholar, Al Bakri, wrote about the king s court and how basically everything that the court had was gold (Document 2). The point of view of this document was also positive, and that is because scholars are usually upper class, just like the king s court. Al Bakri thought very highly of the court, and explains in detail how every person has some gold on them and how their surroundings also possessed gold. Ghana had a strong army and an intelligent political counsel, which made other countries fear them. Nations around Ghana did not want to start problems and usually just maintained peace with Ghana (Document 3). Ghana was not the only successful kingdom, one of the leaders of Mali, Mansa Musa, ... • 48. What Is The Relationship Between The Protestant Ethic And... In Max Weber s book The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, examines the relationship between the ethics of ascetic Protestantism and the emergence of the spirit of modern capitalism. Weber discusses that the religious ideas of groups such as the Calvinists played a role in creating the capitalistic spirit. In Chapter two, Weber targets the concept of capitalism, which tends to assume or argue that its existence is inevitable, that it is fundamental to human nature, or reflects an important step in a universal series of stages. Weber s account brings such claims into question. Corresponding to Weber, the spirit necessary for successful capitalistic activities is not natural.
