Prince Hal In William Shakespeare s King Henry IV
William Shakespeare s King Henry IV, part 1 was first preformed in 1597. King Henry IV, part 1 is a
history play that depicts the civil war fought by King Henry IV s Army against Hotspur, Scotland, and
Wales. Shakespeare uses civil war and rebellion as disruptive affects in his history plays (Norton
Anthology). The first three acts of the play depict the change in the character of Prince Hal from a
selfish tavern man to the honorable leader of the king s army. Prince Hal has all the good
characteristics of Falstaff and Hotspur without their weaknesses. Falstaff s vices are cowardliness,
laziness, thievery, and selfishness, but he is also quick thinking, a quality that Hal also posses. Hotspur
is impulsive and over confidant, but he is known to be honorable. Prince Hal is irresponsible, and
associates with Falstaff and all of his friends at the tavern which angers his father, but Hal posses
honor, intelligence, and brave all of which lead to him becoming the English national hero. ... Show

In Acts One and Two, Hal is more like Falstaff a childish prince who only cares about himself. Hal
spend more time planning with Poins, I ll go with thee: provide us all things/ necessary and meet me

participates in a practical joke on Falstaff saying Your money! (2.2.101), while robbing Falstaff of the
money he just stole. In Act Three Scene Two, Hal s character changes from like Falstaff to like
Hotspur. Hal accepts the fact that he must forget about hos friends at the tavern and lead the King s
Army against Hotspur and his coconspirators. King Henry finally puts his trust in Hal: A hundred
thousand rebels die in this: / Thou shalt have charge and sovereign trust herein (3.2.160 161). With

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Accounting Software
ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE S Software s that records of accounting transaction in a convenient
manner. The first software designed for accounting purposes was for basic computations and
accumulation of numbers in early days, computing systems added and subtracted numbers to help
business organizations to keep their financial information. As advancement in capabilities, complex
systems were used to record financial transactions. Software s has made a huge difference in the

Literature Review On Asylum
Secondary Literature Review: Asylums
At the beginning of the 18th century, the insane were treated as little more than feral animals who had
lost all sense of reason. It s because of the developments made over the next two hundred years,
starting with the birth of the asylums and the process of Humanitarian reform that these backwards
attitudes towards the mentally ill began to change. I m going to be reviewing the literature surrounding
the development of moral treatment and what opinions the authors have on the methods used
throughout the span of this reform.
The Godfathers of moral treatment are undisputedly Philippe Pinel and William Tuke. Before the
civilised asylum, the insane were treated as savages and there was little to no help offered to the
mentally ill other than confinement. Roy Porter says that they inaugurated an era of kindness and
medical care which prepared the way for a rational, humane approach to the mastery of mental illness
.
Prior to the work of such philanthropists, we can see lots of evidence depicted torture, such as cold
water torture and The Chair a contraption which essentially tranquilized the patients, cutting off blood
flow to the brain . Scull writes that water therapy, which was first advocated by Van Helmont, was
used because near death immersion in freezing cold temperatures was believed to kill the mad idea
which was the alleged cause of mental derangement .
William Tuke s work on The York Asylum shifted the treatment from

Technological Evolution in the Film Industry Essay
As times are changing, knowledge and information are also changing. With that, the development of
motion picture complexity has changed the film industry by a continuing technological evolution. It is
evident that films have changed significantly over the last 100 years. The intricacy of filmmaking
technology has rapidly progressed, allowing creative potential for filmmakers. Films are often due to
technological advances, or even to reintroduce a classic story. Some examples of films that have been
remade include Scarface (1932), remade in 1983, and The Magnificent Seven (1960), remade in 1998.
King Kong (1933) is another example of a film that has been remade. The remake, King Kong (2005),
directed by Peter Jackson, shows technological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stop motion animation sequences were filmed separately from the live action scenes with the
actors. These two parts were then combined to create the illusion that the ape was towering over the
actors. In the 2005 remake of the film, director Peter Jackson relied on Computer Generated Imagery
(CGI) to animate Kong. This use of CGI gave the director greater artistic control of the narrative.
Many of the sets were computer generated, as well as Kong himself. To combine both the actors and
the computer generated images together, chroma keying was used. In the scene where Ann Darrow is
placed in the hand of Kong, the actress was filmed against a green screen, and held by a large green
hand. When this scene was merged with the digital Kong, a composite image shows Kong holding her.
Since chroma keying technology did not exist in the 1930 s, a full sized, fur covered hand had to be
constructed to create the effect of Kong holding the actor. The difference between the visual effects in
both versions is significant, making is apparent that the remake has displayed great technological
advancement. These advancements also make the film more believable, and emphasise the story.
Another aspect of the film that had a significant impact was colour. In the original version of King
Kong, the film was shot in black and white. Sometimes there can be implications with interpreting the
emotions in the film. Colour in film is a huge

Boniface s Influence On Frankish Society
Although addressed to Aethebald, an Anglo Saxon king, this incredibly powerful sentence by the
famous missionary Boniface, allows a glimpse into the mindset of the church regarding kingship. A
king s sin could destroy the image of God in him and make him an image of the devil instead.
Boniface, although principally working as a missionary for the Germans, also helped to reform the
Frankish Church, which had declined greatly. The Merovingian kingdom began a decline after the
death of Clovis that trickled down until the rise of the Pippinid and Arnulfling families in the sixth
century. Likewise, the church became corrupt, with little learning or any growth. The combined family
of Arnulflings and Pippinids combined to become one of the strongest ... Show more content on

The premier exercise of their authority was in legislation enacted at councils. This law was wide in
scope and expressive not only of moral ideals, but also of a fully elaborated social thought. Most
bishops in Frankish society not only held their respective bishoprics, but also extensive family land as
most came from the nobility. This aristocratic origin of most bishops was not seen by contemporaries
as an impediment to episcopal office, but rather as an appropriate background for someone who would
rule a community, in addition to governing its religious cult. Bishops, moreover, did not act as
functional equivalents of senators or nobles, but as a distinctive, cohesive group, possessing a self
conscious and unifying identity. However, that changed during the missionary wars in Germany under
Pippin II and Charlemagne. Unlike senators, bishops were ordained clerics, gave sermons, and
baptized people. They adopted a special hairstyle (tonsure) symbolically connecting them to the
asceticism of the desert and a moral code that brought them into contact with the poor and that gave
them a unique position from which to make demands on their kings (and on the poor.) However,
towards the end of the Merovingian kingdom, these same bishops proved prone to corruption and
sinful natures, similarly to how the Carolingians would also depict the Merovingians

Selfishness In Macbeth
Macbeth by William Shakespeare is the story of how one mans hubris destroys him. From it, we can
extrapolate and comment on how in society people have a choice. We can live a life of altruism,
valour and nobility or one fuelled by ambition, greed and violence. Macbeths journey from the former
to the later showcases to the audience the dangers of selfishness. It prompts us to question our view of
life do we succumb to the false promises of evil, as tempting as they are, or do we remain defiant and
true to ourselves. Shakespeare s play is a very clear warning against listening to the dark forces that
are constantly around us. In the initial scenes of the play, Shakespeare creates a very deliberate first
impression of Macbeth and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It contains the ominous line the greatest is behind . These words, though ambiguous, suggest to the
audience that that Macbeth believes the greatest has already been achieved (i.e. it is his destiny to be
king) so the next steps will be easier. The next steps include getting rid of Duncan. Through his aside
he describes to the audience the thoughts running through his head. He is battling with his innate
goodness if good, why do I yield to that suggestion whose horrible image doth unfix my hair and
make his heart knock at his ribs . His language reveals that he is considering murdering king Duncan,
though he would loathe doing it. However at the end of the aside Macbeth decides not to follow
through with the murder if chance will have me king, why chance may crown me without my stir and
instead leave it to chance as he knows he should be loyal to king Duncan our duties are to your throne
. From this aside the audience learns that Macbeth wants greatness to be his but the horribleness of
murder and his loyalty to the throne are preventing him. At this point Macbeth is still a good man even
though he is flawed. He is aware of his own ambition but is not allowing to undermine his integrity.
An aside is also used following a meeting between Duncan, Macbeth and Banquo. In this scene
Shakespeare uses dramatic irony for when Duncan refers to the traitor Cawdor ne says he was a
gentleman upon which I built an absolute trust . This foreshadows how

Sunset Blvd. Essay
The Thematic Intentions of
Sunset Boulevard
The film Sunset Boulevard directed by Billy Wilder and staring the main characters of Norma
Desmond, Joe Gillis, and Max Von Mayerling is ideal example of how important film making
techniques help depict a movie s core theme intentions with vivid clarity. Classic Hollywood is the
first thing that comes to mind when one speaks about this film s style. This signature category
combined with the visual style of realism and it s continuity editing; detailed mise en scene and all of
its characteristics; and lastly the use of reoccurring motifs with formalistic qualities make the audience
grasp the central theme of just how vicious the actual motion industry can be to the ... Show more

He says, ...poor sucker, he always wanted a pool. This here is our first look at one of the motifs
involving the idea of a dream. Throughout the movie that motif is seen in several different ways, this
is just one of them. In almost all of the depictions this dream is some how linked with being shattered
or simply not being what it s thought to be all. The jest of it is the fact that it does draw a parallel to
extreme negativity and it also begins to show specifically how Wilder uses formality in parts of his
direction.
For this establishing scene the realism is viewed simply through the continuity editing that I have
already touched on in some detail about the actual shots, angles, and camera movements involved
here. This invisible style that is seen in so many Classic Hollywood films makes it seem like what is
shown definitely could happen in real life. The only thing here that might not go hand in hand with
that is the fact that this type of depiction was definitely not what the industry and the audience in their
own reality was used to. Therefore, the superior thing about this fact is that because we know that it
was not normal for its time, it takes that central theme of industry decryption and makes it even more
poignant by itself and especially to the people that first saw this

Archduke Marcz Ferdinand Research Paper
No other political murder in modern history has had such momentous consequences as the
assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He was the heir to the Habsburg empire, and the first
to fall victim to political homicide. Unlike some constitutional monarchies in Western Europe, the
Habsburgs had failed to modernize their multinational state. They used force to defend their
institutions, and they were faced with a mass of revolutionary movements in Italy and Hungary.
Although the Sarajevo assassins were Bosnians and thus Austro Hungarian citizens, and although they
had plotted against the Habsburg dignitaries for years, three leading members of the conspiracy,
Princip, Cabrinovic, and Grebez, came to Sarajevo from Belgrade.

Why Did The Russian Civil War Start
The Russian Civil War began in October of 1918. An uprising in Petrograd lit the match and things
were on a roll. The Bolsheviks gained power and were bound to be challenged for it. A major country
that opposed the Bolsheviks were the Social Revolutionaries. When the Revolutionaries were held
back by Bolshevik guards, they fired back at them by attacking their Bolshevik government. The
countries that opposed the Bolsheviks were the Revolutionaries as mentioned before, the Mensheviks
( who once controlled the Provisional Government), and the Tsarists (who wanted to put Nicholas the
second at the throne after rescuing him). The second reason that the civil war started was because of
the Czech region. Czech Prisoners were being taken across Russia who in 1918 mutinied, took control
of the Trans Siberian Railway, and attacked towards Moscow. Large and powerful armies all over this

They grew rapidly in size and by the end of the civil war against the Whites, they had managed to
accumulate a military five million soldiers strong. 75% of their total soldiers were peasants by birth.
This created a major problem for the Bolsheviks in the social race. The peasant population was so vast
that it was thought whoever could gain their vote and popularity would have the most power. In
October of 1917 their support had been confined to the working class districts associated with big
industry cities. Without any support in the countryside, where most people lived, No one thought that
the Bolsheviks would hold power for more than just a few weeks. Many people thought, and for good
reason, that the peasants would rise up against them, because of all the power they obtained together.
However, the Red Army won the civil war after many blood covered battles they fought to gain the
upperhand. One main reason was because of their superior success in things they did with politics and
army decisions, compared to the

The Train Speeding Along The Tracks Beneath Me
I could hear the sound of the train speeding along the tracks beneath me. Looking outside my window,
I could see a blur of parched grass and vast paddocks of sheep drinking from lakes.
I was in a dim mood. My parents had sent me away from our home town Braedon to spend time with
my grandmother in the country town of Redwood, because, as they bluntly put it, she wouldn t be
around for many more years. I didn t mind visiting my grandpa, but I hated that the fact that I had to
travel out of Braedon. I loved the city the convenience of only being five minutes away from the
shops, carpets of sand stretching across the beach at my doorstep, a joyous community and my friends,
only a short text away.

When I travel, no matter how different the place is to Braedon, I often feel an instant connection. It s
the small details which lead me to find a love for the city. Say, like last year, I found my way into a
remote village in Kenya. It was unforgettable. I can still picture the welcoming locals, smiling at me
and the other tourists...
For the remaining hour of the trip, I reflected on my opinion of travelling. All my life, I lived in the
city and due to my routined lifestyle, I was rarely anywhere unfamiliar. I disliked travelling as I feared
being alone, facing something new. Yet after talking to Chris, I began to realise the golden opportunity
I had to experience all the world had to offer to me.
Eventually, the train had come to a halt at my stop Redwood. The deserted train station, which catered
for the whole town, was tiny, with only two short platforms. Along the flat landscape, I could see rows
of houses and the town s church, the steeple proudly and loftily reaching to the clear blue sky.
I farewelled Chris and got off the train with my suitcase. The air was crisp, clean and clear. I thought
of the dusty city air and gridlocked streets with car fumes. How big was this difference? I decided to
forget my past impressions of Redwood and instead try to enjoy my stay with my grandpa.

Postpartum Depression On The Mother And Parenting
For this research paper, I decided to focus on postpartum depression. While being a listening ear, I was
introduced to the reality that not every mother has the attachment to her child that almost every movie
in Hollywood portrays. After hearing the story and not sure if it was a real thing, I began to search the
web for information, stories, and news coverage related to the rarely discussed category of depressed
known as Postpartum Depression (PPD). I wanted to find solid proof that this was an actual diagnosis
and what the long term effects would be, as well as what was being done to reduce the amount of
women that suffer from this. This research should allow me to better understand the causes and effects

Problems such as breastfeeding, marital or relationship issues, feeling inadequate, and not having the
social support can all add to the stress factors that could potentially lead and contribute to postpartum
depression (Postpartum Depression, 357). Primary Care Physicians are ultimately more likely to make
the diagnosis of PPD over their obstetrician since they usually have a more solid foundation and trust
built up after being seen there more frequently. A test is given to women around eight to twelve weeks
postpartum in order to determine the likelihood of postpartum depression and overall health of the
mother (Postpartum Depression, 358 359). Another scholarly journal I found was Disorganized
attachment in early childhood: Meta analysis of precursors, concomitants, and sequelae by Marinus H
van Ijzendoorn, Carlo Schuengel, and Marian J. Bakermans Kranenburg published by Cambridge
University. The journal describes how a mother s postpartum depression affects the mental
development of the child as well as their own attachment issues that can result in educational delays as
well as behavioral issues (Development and Psychopathology, 228). Children develop attachments
with anyone who gives them steady care, disregarding the quality of that care. The effect on infants
whose mother went through postpartum depression (PPD) can impact the development and quality of
life that child will have (Child Development, Feb 1993). A long term effect

Life and Death
When a woman gets pregnant, she and her partner make a serious decision whether they should give
birth to the unborn child or abort it. However, sometimes every couple can have a different outlook
about giving birth or aborting because every male and female has his or her ways of thinking. In Hills
Like White Elephants, the author, Ernest Hemingway tells a story of an American man and his
girlfriend, Jig, who have a disagreement in the train station on the subject of whether to keep the
unborn child or to abort. However, the author uses binary opposition of life and death to portray the
polemic argument a couple encounters regarding abortion. As a symbol for the binary opposition of
life and death, he represents the couple s expressions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Jig says, Then what will we do afterward (401)? Literally, this statement shows Jig s
concerns about what will happen after the operation, like the emotions she will feel, because abortion
is something that can leave emotional damage on her after the operation. However, symbolically, Jigs
concerned feelings suggest that Jig is not quite sure about abortion. Therefore, Jig s feelings can be a
representation of life because if a woman is sure about abortion, she will do the operation. As a result,
one can conclude that Jig is just wasting time with her unsure feelings to postpone the abortion.
However, The American s feeling suggests to the readers his agreement on abortion, which symbolizes
death. As the American states to Jig, I know we will. You don t have to be afraid. I ve knows lots of
people that have done it (402). The American states his feeling after Jig states, And you think then we
ll be all right and be happy (402). Literally, the American wants Jig to have an abortion because he
does not want to settle down and raise a family. Instead, he wanted to continue his trip around the
world. As the author states, He did say anything but looked at the bags... There were labels on them
from all the hotels where they had spent nights (403). The bag that has all the labels from all the hotels
brings evidence that the American likes living his life by having trips and not by making a family.

Essay on Internal Control Risks
Internal Control Risks Identified in Apollo Shoes
Assessing control risk is the process of evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of a
company s internal controls as to how it prevents or detects material misstatements in the financial
statement assertions of management (Hayes, Dassen, Schilder, amp; Wallage, 2005). The conclusion
reached as a result of assessing control risk is referred to as the assessed level of control risk. When
assessing controls the auditor looks for weaknesses in a company s internal controls for two reasons:
to determine the nature and extent of the substantive tests the auditor will perform and to formulate
constructive suggestions for improvements (Hayes, Dassen, Schilder, amp; Wallage, 2005). ... Show

Pre numbering is meant to prevent both the failure to bill or record sales and the occurrence of
duplicate billings and recordings. However, it does not do much good to have pre numbered
documents unless they are properly accounted for. To use this control effectively, a billing clerk should
file a copy of all shipping documents in sequential order after each shipment is billed, while another
employee should periodically account for all numbers and investigate the reason for any missing
documents (Arens, Elder, amp; Beasley, 2012).
The sales order forms were kept in the sales clerk s working area where many people passed through
during the day. Estimated dollar amounts were prepared by sales clerks and written on the order
forms. The sales orders are then hand carried to the credit manager, who is in the treasurer s
department. Typically, the computer automatically prepares the sales invoice after the customer

Published in 1946, the story of Primo Levi s pursuit for freedom has inspired many people around the
world. Levi s quest back home to Italy was a grueling mission, from ruthless acts of the Nazi regime,
the traumatic effects of imprisonment in Auschwitz and the near death experience of hunger and

extraordinary people, many of whom are survivors of the Holocaust just like him. These people can be
seen as a symbol in Levi s reawakening helping him establish new life after liberation. Jews are
deeply hated amongst the European nation and Levi encounters three authority figures they guide him

Cracow, Levi came across the first authority figure, a priest. They carried the most extravagant and
chaotic conversation in Latin. (Levi, 50) At the end of their encounter the priest advises Levi not to

through Treblinka. He was a Polish man but he could speak German as well. Like the priest, he also
advised Levi not to speak German in public. A police officer, the third figure of authority in Levi s
reawakening, showed compassion towards Levi and offered him a night in warmth, in jail.

Eve Above Adam Gender Roles
Eve Above Adam:
Deconstruction of Gender Roles in the Context of Detective/Crime Novels
At first glance Ted Dekker s Adam appears to be the typical crime novel. There is a detective (male)
obsessed with solving a mysterious string of murders, ruined marriage, a subordinate female
coworker, and of course all of the victims being female. It is not long before the reader realizes
something is different about this text. The first clue is that the killer is labeled Eve, a traditionally
female name associated with the mother of humanity. The second clue is that the supposed strong
male protagonist is exhibiting reactions to stressful situations that are traditionally considered
effeminate. In addition to this, the male serial killer isn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As is to be expected from a crime novel, the criminal s victims are all initially female. These are
however, not even secondary characters, and is when we look at the more prominent female characters
that tradition is thrown to the wayside. Heather Clark, Daniel s ex wife, is first introduced as being a
woman who was powerless to stop her husband s obsession with a serial killer. She is even depicted as
being so dependent that she becomes obsessed with her husband. This leads to a subsequent obsession
with Eve and Heather s own amateur detective work. Ironically it is Heather that serial killer
communicates with, not Daniel. In fact, the serial killer communicates through her to Daniel. Heather
is the one that receives the warning that if Daniel tries to stop Eve, he will die (Dekker, 23 24). The
reiteration the notion that the male characters need to go through female characters for the information
to gain importance, means that without the female characters the story could not continue. Later in the
novel Daniel is captured by the serial killer and his wife Heather goes to save him. However, she soon
discovers that that Daniel is possessed by Eve and calls a priest, Father Seymour, to try and save him
(Dekker, 315 326). Heather, not Daniel the supposed detective character, is the one who thinks to call
the priest. She realizes his importance in stopping Eve and Alex, Daniel however is still adamantly
against the very idea of supernatural involvement. With the help of Lori Ames and the Priest, Daniel is
eventually rescued and becomes dependent on Heather as a support system following the

way to escape from their race, culture, or traditional beliefs. In contrast, popular culture theorizes that
interracial marriages are motivated not by a desire to leave behind one s heritage, but by love between
two people who happen to be of different races. In this paper, I seek to analyze and compare these two
perspectives, proposing a theory that combines the two by accounting for a person s upbringing and
beliefs when deciding what their motivation may be. I first analyze the traditional belief of interracial
marriage in comparison to the popular culture belief and present my theory combining the two. I then
analyze the effect of dominant versus nondominant culture on motivations, and use examples from
popular culture to look at the effect a person s culture and upbringing can have their motivations for
marriage. Lastly, I explain how my perspective will affect the way I live my life.
Interracial marriage has traditionally been viewed as a means of expressing a hatred of oneself, of
escaping something in one s culture or self that one no longer wants to identify with. Jacki Thompson
Rand describes the outcome of this phenomenon in an essay on her experience as the child of an
interracial marriage. She explains how her mother married a white man in an effort to make herself
more white, and therefore more legitimate: My mother s marriage to my father was a racial love

additional facilities in the USA and Middle East. Merbatty Boats currently manufactures 15 different
types of luxury boats and also offer a full interior design service. The company achieved a total

Topcrest and Merbatty also have a longstanding relationship and is easier to maintain than to build
new relationships with new suppliers. The favourable relationship also provide good grounds that
Topcrest will honour their promise of no late deliveries in the future. Merbatty can also appoint a
backup hull supplier should Topcrest not honour their promise of any further late deliveries and thus
minimise the risk of a similar incident happening in the future.
3.2 Building and manufacturing of racing boat priority 2
This project is ranked second as the possibility of investing in the speedboat with no guarantee of
success can lead to massive losses. The possibility of the raceboat being a failure can result in bad
publicity for Merbatty.
The new marketing director, Jesper, is keen to develop a speedboat and compete in the global
speedboat race as a marketing strategy. Jesper wants to race for a period of 2 years with the possibility
of manufacturing its own range of speedboats should the racing be successful. Jesper is of opinion that
this can also lead to an increase in sales of the P 3000 performance

Everyday Use By Alice Walker Point Of View
Everyday Use by Alice Walker is told from the point of view of Mama who goes by no other name.
She could be referred to as Mrs. Johnson, but the line, Who ever knew a Johnson with a quick tongue?
(Walker, 337), leads me to believe that Johnson is her maiden name. To be a mother is who and what
she is, in this story, with no especial plans for when her youngest gets married. While she would be
considered the protagonist, I feel that both Maggie and Dee are as equally integral to the story, and all
have their own and share antagonists. The short story may be told from Mama s point of view but the
plot truly revolves around all three. Each of the three main characters have at least one antagonist in
common: the time period in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When she does ask, far from expecting to hear No, and is told that they d been promised to Maggie,
she gets angry. Dee had been offered a quilt before she went away to college, but declined because
they were out of style. Now, it seems, she sees the value in them, and the need to preserve. What
would happen to the quilts on the wall or the pieces of the churn when they went out of style? What if
she never thought of anything artistic to do with the dasher? What if she moved and didn t have an
alcove with a table large enough for a centerpiece, or the room for these pieces of art? We can only
imagine, because as soon as Maggie says that Dee can have them, and that she can member Grandma
Dee without the quilts (342), it s obvious which girl deserves them. This isn t lost on Mama, and in
taking action giving quilts to Maggie she stands up to her own personal antagonist and in doing so,
negates Maggie s antagonistic idea that her lot in life is to lose.
If it weren t for Dee s entitled attitude towards her family and outward lack of respect for them, you
could feel more easily that the time period was her antagonist, as well. She was not all bad, and had a
very real appreciation for the benches, churn top, and quilts. As David Cowart put

The Funeral Of Julius Caesar
The Funeral Speeches in Julius Caesar Words have great power and astounding capability when the
wielder uses them to their true advantage. William Shakespeare is a revered writer of the Renaissance
Era, and his work continues to be used and influential today. In his play Julius Caesar, two speakers
use their ability with words to turn the opinion of their audience, ultimately starting a war. Through
analysing their tactics as well as the words themselves we can more fully understanding why it ended
as it did; more importantly, we can also understand speaking styles, when to implement each, and how
they impacted their citizens so thoroughly. These speeches occurred right after Caesar s assassination.
Brutus spoke first, then left. Marc Antony gave a speech following his, with his own unique tactics. It
was the combination of these two speeches that resulted in the resolution of the play. As I have
previously stated, Brutus was the first to speak. He spun a beautiful tale, using logos as his primary
form of persuasion. He said things such as, Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more.
() These statements painted him to be the noblest of men. He wanted the townspeople to believe his
was in the right, and did it solely for their benefit. The reasons for the assassination were stated clearly
and in a mechanical sense, it seemed none could argue with his logic. He offered to commit suicide
and a citizen promptly shouted, Live, Brutus! live, live! (), demonstrating

Comparing The Exorcist Book And Movie

The Exorcist was released on December 26, 1973 in twenty six theaters by the Director William

Metaatropic Dwarfism Essay
Metatropic dwarfism
Metatropic dysplasia, also known as metatropic dwarfism is a very rare disease in humans that is often
deadly and identifiable after birth or into the infant stages of a baby. It has been discussed that MTD is
in part caused by mutations in the TRVP4 gene. This is located at 12q24.1 which is the long (q) arm of
chromosome 12 at position 24.1, base pairs 109,784,087 to 109,833,407. There have been
approximately 81 cases reported so far with odds of 1/1,000,000. A few cases have been severe to the
point of endangering the mother s life. This type of dwarfism affects the human skeleton in such a way
that affects normal growth. Body proportions are abnormal, and a child will have unusual features
such as shorter limbs, a narrow chest, and bones that have not developed correctly. Several facial

Metatropic dysplasia is inherited and can be passed down, meaning that is its autosomal dominant. It
is also possible that there will be reoccurrences between siblings, though it is variable over time.
Testing of the TRPV4 gene is available through CTGT and other corporations that specialize in
genetic sequencing. Prenatal ultrasound scans will show narrow spinal canals and shortening of long
bones and the supporting structure. Treatment of metatropic dysplasia after birth is possible but its
effectiveness varies from each case and it is often an aggressive and labor intensive path to follow.
Doctors main goals for patients with MTD are to establish satisfactory respiratory and pulmonary
functions as well as reducing the amount of skeletal deformity. This may require several surgeries that
have their own risks and outpatient treatment plan. If doctors can keep patients with MTD alive for
longer periods of time, they will be able to determine which methods of treatment are the most
effective. Since this is a genetic mutation, each case will require their oun unique set of tests, since
there may be more than one contributing

Odyssey Archetype Essay
Odyssey Archetype Essay The Odyssey, a ten long epic journey consisting of love, war, and despair;
the odyssey dives into human tragedy that no man would ever want to experience. This is a reason
why the odyssey is so significant to today s literature. The Odyssey occurred ancient Greece times.
The odysseys genre is an adventure but has aspects of all other genres. In this essay I will be
explaining the archetypes in the odyssey that are most relevant in the Odyssey. I will be going into full
detail on these three archetypes the hero, villain/monster, and the damsel in distress. I chose these
three archetypes because I recognized them the most while we were reading the Odyssey. The first
archetype i ll be explaining is the hero ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Does he blame others others or make excuses for shortcoming? No. This is what makes the difference
between a hero and a villain. Its how you react to a situation that differs you from a hero or a villain.
The next archetype i ll be talking about is the villain/monster archetype. These two archetypes are
basically the same that s why I grouped them together. There many examples of the monster archetype
in the odyssey such as scylla and charybdis, the Cyclopes, and the sirens. Come this way, honored
Odysseus great glory of the achaeans, and stay your ship so that you can listen here to our singing; for
no one see has ever sailed past this place in his black ship until he has listened to the honey sweet
voice that issues from our lips; then goes on well pleased, knowing more than he ever did; for we
know everything that the argives and the Trojans did and suffered in wide Troy through the gods
despite. Over all the generous earth we know everything
that happens. (12.184 196) . That was the Siren s song as they tried to lure Odysseus where they
would then kill him. The Greek people associated monsters and villains with women for example
Scylla, Sirens, and Circe the witch. The faces of ancient times are such distant shadows of our own
experiences , so alien in culture and superstition, what themes of dread and fright could expect to
share in common with the inhabitants of a world so far moved from our modern frame of mind? The
answer, actually, is quite a lot.

To fight or not to fight
Life is hard for kind people. We live in a world where we are told to be kind since we are children. To
hold doors for girls ,and to use manners and give compliments. We are told this all through school, but
by the time most people are in middle school all those lessons that had been drilled into us since we
are kids seem to disappear. On the internet you can be a cruel person knocking down others beliefs
and self worth ,but it seems like all those people know how to keep their mouth shut when they re not
behind a screen. Even through all this there seems to still be some optimist still out there. Lots of
times those people draw the short straw. Most of the time these people shrug it off and keeping going
on with their lives, but sometimes people snap. That s the case with Mary Maloney in Roald Dahl s
Lamb to slaughter.
You see the story starts off with Mrs. Maloney waiting for her husband to come home. It also says
Now and again she glanced at the clock, but without anxiety. This proves that this woman knows that
her husband will come home to her safe and sound. In the text It also says that Mrs. Maloney is
expecting a baby. Throughout the story their is no mention of any other children letting us know that
this is Mary s first child ,and usually women have their first born when their young ,say their early or

The Role Of Stereotypes In The Workplace
The way to overcome this challenge in the workplace is for companies to host events to celebrate
accomplishments and achievements, so that it can help them balance out their company culture
(Gausepohl, 2016). These events are also done, so that the different generations can learn about each
other. Through these events, companies should try to create a company culture that takes into
consideration of all the generations, so that everyone can work together without any disagreements
about the culture of the company (Srivastava). The next challenge that generations face in the
workplace is communication. In today s workplace, there are many different ways to communicate
with a co worker, such as using letters, emails, telephones, text, ... Show more content on

All the generations believe that there are certain negative stereotypes associated with each age group
and these stereotypes can cause conflicts and challenges in the workplace because one generation will
think they are better than another which will cause the generations to not work well with each other.
For example, the stereotypes that older generations believe that Millennials have are that they are lazy,
entitled, tech obsessed, and overeager while the Millennials view the older generations as being too
stubborn to change and difficult to train (Srivastava). Stereotypes in the workplace is a big challenge
for many organizations that have many generations working together, but the best way to tackle this
problem is for leaders of a company to instill in their workers to not label other generations and not let
the perceived stereotypes change how they view all age groups (Gausepohl, 2016). In addition, the
leaders are also encouraged to get involved in any problems that are forming in their company and
they should take immediate action to resolve them. The main reason why stereotypes in the workplace
is a challenge is because of the pride and ignorance that each generation has that creates these beliefs
about each age group. The way to eliminate this kind of thinking is by focusing more on the ability of
an individual and not the age of the person, so that pride and ignorance does not blind a person s
judgement about another individual

Honest Iago of Shakespeare s Othello Essay

To most of the world William Shakespeare is recognized as the greatest dramatist in history. His plays
have been performed for centuries through various interpretations. Shakespeare s vast knowledge, and

is the use of motifs, which is seen extensively in Othello. An important example that runs throughout

Cassio s trust in Iago stems not only from his impeccable reputation of sincerity, but again from
Othello s influence. Othello simply states; Iago is most honest. [Act II, scene iii], when conversing
with Cassio. Once more, if Othello feels this way, then Cassio, who admires Othello and follows his
leadership, will also believe that Iago is an honest man. When Iago pretends to help Cassio, he

Iago s supposed honesty is ironically, also a result of his own lying, by making statements that help
him sustain his reputation. When he explains Roderigo and Cassio s fight to Othello, he claims to do it
with a heavy heart, because he does not want to cause problems for Cassio. However, he feels he must

A Brief Note On Unemployment And Minimum Wage Essay
Unemployment and Minimum Wage Both the microeconomics and the macroeconomics theories
dictate that an increase in the minimum wage will directly impact the rate of unemployment by
shooting upwards. As of the moment, there is a heated debate on whether the Congress should pass a
bill that seeks to increase United States minimum wage. The consequent change will eventually have
both positive as well as negative impacts on various economical aspects particularly unemployment.
As for this paper, the focus will be narrowed down to examining the link between minimum wage and
unemployment rates across states and also highlighting the current state of unemployment in both Los
Angeles and Seattle. In reference to microeconomic theory, the bare minimum wage is considered the
price level on top of the equilibrium that is set by the demand and supply curve. A slight increase in
the minimum wage greatly impacts the quantity of workers supplied in the economy by significantly
increasing due to the initial heave of interest to enroll in the workforce. Similarly, there will be a
decline in the quantity of demanded labor given that the marginal labor cost will directly increase as
the minimum wage increases. As a result of the increased quantity supplied and the subsequent
decrease in demanded quantity, there will be a creation of labor surplus in the workforce, culminating
in the increased rates of unemployment. With an increase in the minimum wage on top of the normal
equilibrium in the

Human and Drug trafficking are huge global problems and it affects millions or people, even if they

things are such an issue is all because of money. They both bring in major profits and benefits into

This paper is answering to the question: to what extent did the left wing political opposition lead to the
Spanish Civil War, 1936 1939? There are many factors that influenced and that caused the Spanish
Civil War breakout, however this essay is focusing in 4 long run causes, more specifically: the role of
the Spanish Army, the role of the Church, the nature of the economy and the new left wing ideologies.
The Spanish army had a very powerful influence in politics, due to its role in Spain s imperial past. It
was likely to be compared as the protector of the nation. The Spanish army had already intervened
before in politics several times, the last one in 1936, breaking out the war. It did not have an appeal on
the working class, since they were very brutal, and more important, very expensive to maintain with
very high taxes. They were more likely to be related to the middle high class, and therefore even more
unlikely to cause an appeal on the Spanish labour force. For this labour force the Spanish Army was
just a symbol of fascist authority. After the progressive Popular Front was selected, the middle high
class already planned a military offensive against the leftists ideologies.
The second factor discussed is the role of the Church. The Church, as always has been,

bottom of the 9th inning, the Red Sox were down one run. (baseball reference.com) (Source B) The
Red Sox tied the game, and the game went into extra innings. The Yankees closer, Mariano Rivera,
(considered best closer of all time) entered the game for the Yankees. The air came out of the Red Sox

For example, the report gives statistics on how many more children live in low income families, and
how factors such as ethnicity, immigration status, disability can change the way poverty affects the
individual s life. This article is organized very well, in a sequential manner in which one can easily
find information relevant to their research by simply looking at the contents list (and the subheadings
listed under different chapters). The introduction is concise and formal, however there is not a titled
conclusion, rather the last section summarizes the points given. This report does not have a definitive
bias as the sections explain what is previously given through statistics, thus there is is not an evident
opinion (other than that poverty should be extinguished. There are not suggestions for further reading
in the report, however the website in which it was found gave suggestions of other articles related to
child poverty. The entire article has an abundance information that would be helpful to the social
issues project, specifically statistics on how it affects the quality of life of children and ways to
overcome the issue of poverty in Toronto. This report would be very helpful for those who are
researching about children living in low income families, poverty, and solutions to poverty. There are
some limitations within the article for example data collection, especially because there is not official
poverty line. More information on data limitations are given in the appendix. The Hidden Epidemic
will contribute to my project by helping to narrow which subdivision of poverty to focus on and to
further understand how poverty transpires in Canada s most well known

Male Nurses Vs Female Nursing Research
I believe that female nurses are better then male nurses. They have more time and dedication to their
patients and their work. Also they show more emotion to their work to be able to find what will work
the best and what will need to be done. They are determined to find an outcome or a solution to your
situation. Some often want to bring help to those who are in need of it and to bring change to the
world. I will start off with my first example who is Mary Breckinridge and how she had wanted to
bring more help to the poor families. Next would be Ruth Tapp she showed me and proved to me that
if you put time and effort into things that you will have a good outcome. The last example that I have
is Clarissa (Clara) Barton. She was so indulged in her work that she came up with the red cross
because she wanted to help everyone that needed it. As a matter of fact Mary Breckinridge would be a
good example of someone who is inspired to being a nurse. She had dedicated her life to becoming a
nurse. It all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also show more passion for their patients and their work that they do. Female nurses are very
intent on finding a result to your problems that you have. Others would like to lend a helping hand to
those who are in need of it. Would you rather have someone that would pay attention to everything
you say and be able to help solve your issue or would you want someone that doesn t listen and doesn
t help solve your problem? Do you want someone who cares about you getting better or someone who
just wants to find a solution so you could leave? Would you rather have someone who listens to
everything you say and finds the best solution that you are comfortable with or do you want someone
who listens but comes up with an idea that you aren t comfortable with? So just stop and think every
female nurse out there was drawn to nursing because of a desire to care, to serve, or to help. So what
nurse would you want to help

Qualitative Research Methods Essay
Question 1 Compare and contrast the following qualitative research methods: case study,
phenomenological, and grounded theory. Synthesize the findings and determine which is best suited to
a study on your potential dissertation topic. Analyze the issues associated with sample selection,
validity, and bias in such a study.
Qualitative Research Methods
Introduction
It is common for researchers to compare qualitative and quantitative research methods. Quantitative
methods originate from positivist and post positivist research paradigms. Also, the methods
objectively examine statistical data to determine cause and affect and often use generalizable data.
There are various methods used in quantitative research such as surveys, ... Show more content on

Thus, this method gives a researcher an in depth understanding of the participants experiences using
qualitative inquiry to determine the why, when, where, what, and how of the study. Qualitative
research is subject to judgments about the data and synthesizes the findings using specialized
approaches such as experimental or non experimental. Researchers often opt to use non experimental
approaches in studies using surveys, interviews, observations, and case studies. Even though an
experimental approach is appropriate in quantitative research, it further enables researchers to find
answers and collect data (Bagozzi amp; Yi, 2012). This approach is unique in its hypotheses and the
study of behavior, making it valid and reliable. They are five types of approaches to select within
qualitative research: case study, ethnography, phenomenology, grounded theory, and narrative
research. Each research method is distinct in its approach towards inquiry within the qualitative
paradigm in terms of appearance, conditions, focus, and theories (Creswell, 1998). There are also
similarities in these approaches such as characteristics and assumptions concerning the context of the
study. This research evaluates each approach and determines that the phenomenology method is best
suited for the study of women in leadership and the challenges they face climbing the

Ganglion Cyst Research Paper
A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous, fluid filled lump that occurs near joints or tendons. The ganglion
cyst grows out of a joint or the lining of a tendon. It most often develops in the hand or wrist but can
also develop in the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle, or foot. The round or oval ganglion can be pea
sized or larger than a grape. Increased activity may enlarge the size of the cyst because more fluid
starts to build up. CAUSES It is not known what causes a ganglion cyst to grow. However, it may be
related to: Inflammation or irritation around the joint. An injury. Repetitive movements or overuse.
Arthritis. RISK FACTORS Risk factors include: Being a woman. Being between the ages of 20 50.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tingling. Pain. Numbness. Muscle weakness. Weak grip. Less movement in your joints. DIAGNOSIS
Ganglion cysts are most often diagnosed based on a physical exam. Your health care provider will feel
the lump and may shine a light alongside it. If it is a ganglion, a light often shines through it. Your
health care provider may order an X ray, ultrasound, or MRI to rule out other conditions.
TREATMENT Ganglions usually go away on their own without treatment. If pain or other symptoms
are involved, treatment may be needed. Treatment is also needed if the ganglion limits your movement
or if it gets infected. Treatment may include: Wearing a wrist or finger brace or splint. Taking anti
inflammatory medicine. Draining fluid from the lump with a needle (aspiration). Injecting a steroid
into the joint. Surgery to remove the ganglion cyst. HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS Do not press on
the ganglion, poke it with a needle, or hit it. Take medicines only as directed by your health care
provider. Wear your brace or splint as directed by your health care provider. Watch your ganglion cyst

Driver Fatigue Essay
ABSTRACT
Driver fatigue resulting from sleep deprivation or sleep disorders is an important factor in the
increasing number of the accidents on today s roads. Driving a vehicle involves coordination of the
locomotor system along with the healthy function of the brain. When the driver feels drowsy, it may
unsettle the balance and may lead to erratic driving causing potential accidents.
The main aim of the driver drowsiness detection system is to design a monitoring system that
processes the image to indicate the current driving aptitude of the driver and raise a warning alarm if
the driver is fatigued.

However any driver travelling long distances or when they are tired, is at the risk of a sleep related
accidents. The early hours of the morning and the middle of the afternoon are the peak times for
fatigue accidents and long journeys on monotonous roads, particularly motor ways, are the most likely
to result in a driver falling asleep.
Studies indicate that 8 to 9 hours of extended nocturnal sleep are needed to resolve sleepiness caused
by decreased sleep time. Motor vehicle accidents related to fatigue, drowsy driving, and falling asleep
at the wheel are particularly common but often underestimated.
In recent years, the use of intelligent systems in cars has developed considerably. These systems use
wireless sensor networks to monitor and transmit the condition of the car and the driver. Smart cars
which use software techniques to control engine speed, steering, transmission, brake etc. has improved

Alex Trochut Analysis
Rudyard Kipling once said Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind and boy I
m hooked. Throughout my entire life I have always been fascinated with typography even before I
knew what a font even truly was. For the past few years I have been following the works of
typographic designer Alex Trochut and his amazing work. His work can be seen on anything from
famous magazines such as TIME and Vanity Fair to globally recognized names such as Katy Perry and
Wiz Khalifa.
Barcelona based Trochut is renowned for his extremely intricate and detailed typographic design work
(inkbotdesign.com). For TIME magazine they commissioned him to create a cover that depicts the
best of 2013 he creates this with a flowing pattern using six equally spaced lines which he has curved
and gives the implied sense of form and space. The final design is so creative and in doing so is very
eye catching and memorable. It is this type of flowing and intricate designs, which have allowed
Trochut to make his mark on the design world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For each of his designs he must create the type from nothing. One of my favorite pieces of work he
has done is titled Lorem Ipsum in this series he created lettering based on tubular strokes and made the
connection to old fashion ballpoint pens like those many of us used in school long ago. Many large
companies and celebrity clients have come to love Trochut s body of work also. Client Capitol
Records commissioned him to create album artwork for the release of Katy Perry s single ROAR in
2013. He went more geometric with this design and created an instantly recognizable typeface, which

The Energy Of Energy Usage
Introduction
Historically, the distillation of alcohol (spirits, wine and vodka) has been a high end consumer in
terms of energy usage. According to U.S. Dept. of Energy, there are more than 40,000 distillation
columns in North America and they consume 40% of the total energy used to operate plants in
chemical industries [1]. As a result, researchers have focused their efforts towards developing
distillation columns that are more compact, utilize compressors to recirculate latent heat and possess
more effective separation technology in order to reduce energy consumption.
The principal topics of research that pose effective solutions to these present day energy challenges
are: the use of divided wall columns (DWC), self heat recuperation ... Show more content on

[3] shows that by using dividing wall columns, the uninstalled equipment cost for the total column
configuration is reduced by about 10%. The capital costs savings result from a reduction equipment
quantity. There are also indirect benefits; a dividing wall column requires less plot area, shorter piping,
electrical runs and smaller storm runoff system [3]. When compared to a conventional two column
system, capital costs savings of up to 30% is typical [2]. In summary, fully thermally coupled
columns/configurations/ arrangements require less energy than conventional counterparts, because of
providing operating conditions that avoid or minimize entropy of mixing formation, which in case of
conventional configurations occurs, more or less pronounced, at the feed stage, the ends of the
columns, and due to remixing of internal flows [8].
Self Heat Recuperation Technology
In order to separate ethanol contents from water, enormous amounts of heat must be applied to the
azeotropic mixture during distillation. According to Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, an
ethanol water mixture must be distilled at 78.3 degrees Celsius to reach the 80 proof content level of
standard vodka [9]. As a result, the heat needed to distill vodka creates the need to explore sources of
recycled energy. As investigated by Matsuda et al., self heat recuperation technology utilizes not only
latent heat but also the sensible

Dbq Women s Rights
The foundation of a democratic society is elections. The right to vote and the right to be elected are
important parts of civil war. During the mid 1800s, America women did not have the same social
position as men had. They had no voting rights, also when they married their husband would have all
their properties and had no property inheritance rights proposed requirements. In addition, they were
not allowed to work outside their house. To serve a juror, on the court to testify, go to the college and
to mention in politics, all these were forbidden for women. In order to have the same political rights
which equal to men, women have been fighting for their own rights in over a century. The beginning

In 1918, forced from the pressure from the public, President Wilson switched his stand on women s
voting rights from objection to support through the influence of Catt, who had a less combative style
than Paul. He began to propose an amendment that gives these women right to vote. Finally, in 1920
the congress issued the nineteenth Amendment which also named the Susan B. Anthony Amendment
in order to remember the contribution she dedicated. The Amendment has an essential position in
American history. It ended almost a century s protest for women s rights. No matter how, the
movements at last got succeeded after a lot of blame,

Poe Hawthorne
Comparison/ Contrast of Poe/ Hawthorne Poe and Hawthorne are the most significant American
writers of 19th century. They have their own way of relating to their audiences that s varied and
similar at the same time. Poe s writing involves the reader emotionally. Hawthorne on the other hand
considers author s imagination important and paints a picture based on it. These innovative thoughts
and experimentations in language have forever changed what we appreciate in writing. Poe and
Hawthorne used various techniques in their writing including symbolism, allegory, suspense,
characterization and great use of setting to make it very real to the reader. Both gothic writers set a
different mood for the reader in their writings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hooper s state of mind. These authors uses of language skills show not only their excellent command
of the English language but also their great desire to find the perfect word to fit their story and their
style of writing.
The greatest underlying difference in Poe and Hawthorne s stories are their categorized styles.
Hawthorne is an author drawn to writings of romance, which holds broad guidelines. He uses his
unexplained happenings as part of this genre. Hawthorne uses his characters to portray his belief that
the truth of life comes from the human heart. Hawthorne s romantic literature likes to use the
extraordinary. The importance of nature plays a strong role when the secrecy and evil of the woods are
described and gossiped about in The Scarlet Letter. All of these aspects portray stories built on the
romance theory, which Hawthorne helped to develop.
Poe s writing style was much like that of Hawthorne s, but drew from the darker side of romance
creations. This gothic mood believed in the dark truths of the human heart, which are the ends and
motivations for many of his stories. Human corruption and violence ends in murder in The Black Cat .
Gothic writings move more into the supernatural side, which lets observer of the see a living person in
the picture at his first, sleepy glance.
Poe and Hawthorne both use all aspects of

Sarbanes-Oxley Act Pros And Cons
The year 2002 marked a critical time for many corporate businesses as it was known for one of the
most infamous years in organizational scandal. The Enron debacle, Tyco, Adelphia, and WorldCom all
were involved in some sort of corruption. These corporations misfortunate mishaps was the driving
force for the implementation of ethical laws. One law in particular was the Sarbanes Oxley Act
(SOX). This law was enacted to help restore integrity and public confidence to the financial markets
(Orin, R. 2008). The Sarbanes Oxley Act is not a law that is new to the scene of corporate America, in
fact in 1934 the Securities and Exchange Commission was introduced to help police the U.S. financial

King Henry IV, part 1 is a history play that depicts the civil war fought by King Henry IV s Army against Hotspur, Scotland, and Wales. Shakespeare uses civil war and rebellion as disruptive affects in his history plays (Norton Anthology). The first three acts of the play depict the change in the character of Prince Hal from a selfish tavern man to the honorable leader of the king s army. Prince Hal has all the good characteristics of Falstaff and Hotspur without their weaknesses. Falstaff s vices are cowardliness, laziness, thievery, and selfishness, but he is also quick thinking, a quality that Hal also posses. Hotspur is impulsive and over confidant, but he is known to be honorable. • 4. Literature Review On Asylum Secondary Literature Review: Asylums At the beginning of the 18th century, the insane were treated as little more than feral animals who had lost all sense of reason. It s because of the developments made over the next two hundred years, starting with the birth of the asylums and the process of Humanitarian reform that these backwards attitudes towards the mentally ill began to change. I m going to be reviewing the literature surrounding the development of moral treatment and what opinions the authors have on the methods used throughout the span of this reform. The Godfathers of moral treatment are undisputedly Philippe Pinel and William Tuke. Before the civilised asylum, the insane were treated as savages and there was little to no help offered to the mentally ill other than confinement. Roy Porter says that they inaugurated an era of kindness and medical care which prepared the way for a rational, humane approach to the mastery of mental illness . Prior to the work of such philanthropists, we can see lots of evidence depicted torture, such as cold water torture and The Chair a contraption which essentially tranquilized the patients, cutting off blood flow to the brain . Scull writes that water therapy, which was first advocated by Van Helmont, was used because near death immersion in freezing cold temperatures was believed to kill the mad idea which was the alleged cause of mental derangement . William Tuke s work on The York Asylum shifted the treatment from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With that, the development of motion picture complexity has changed the film industry by a continuing technological evolution. It is evident that films have changed significantly over the last 100 years. The intricacy of filmmaking technology has rapidly progressed, allowing creative potential for filmmakers. Films are often due to technological advances, or even to reintroduce a classic story. Some examples of films that have been remade include Scarface (1932), remade in 1983, and The Magnificent Seven (1960), remade in 1998. King Kong (1933) is another example of a film that has been remade. The remake, King Kong (2005), directed by Peter Jackson, shows technological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stop motion animation sequences were filmed separately from the live action scenes with the actors. These two parts were then combined to create the illusion that the ape was towering over the actors. In the 2005 remake of the film, director Peter Jackson relied on Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) to animate Kong. This use of CGI gave the director greater artistic control of the narrative. Many of the sets were computer generated, as well as Kong himself. To combine both the actors and the computer generated images together, chroma keying was used. In the scene where Ann Darrow is placed in the hand of Kong, the actress was filmed against a green screen, and held by a large green hand. When this scene was merged with the digital Kong, a composite image shows Kong holding her. Since chroma keying technology did not exist in the 1930 s, a full sized, fur covered hand had to be constructed to create the effect of Kong holding the actor. The difference between the visual effects in both versions is significant, making is apparent that the remake has displayed great technological advancement. These advancements also make the film more believable, and emphasise the story. Another aspect of the film that had a significant impact was colour. In the original version of King Kong, the film was shot in black and white. Sometimes there can be implications with interpreting the emotions in the film. Colour in film is a huge ... • 6. Boniface s Influence On Frankish Society Although addressed to Aethebald, an Anglo Saxon king, this incredibly powerful sentence by the famous missionary Boniface, allows a glimpse into the mindset of the church regarding kingship. A king s sin could destroy the image of God in him and make him an image of the devil instead. Boniface, although principally working as a missionary for the Germans, also helped to reform the Frankish Church, which had declined greatly. The Merovingian kingdom began a decline after the death of Clovis that trickled down until the rise of the Pippinid and Arnulfling families in the sixth century. This law was wide in scope and expressive not only of moral ideals, but also of a fully elaborated social thought. Most bishops in Frankish society not only held their respective bishoprics, but also extensive family land as most came from the nobility. This aristocratic origin of most bishops was not seen by contemporaries as an impediment to episcopal office, but rather as an appropriate background for someone who would rule a community, in addition to governing its religious cult. Bishops, moreover, did not act as functional equivalents of senators or nobles, but as a distinctive, cohesive group, possessing a self conscious and unifying identity. However, that changed during the missionary wars in Germany under Pippin II and Charlemagne. Unlike senators, bishops were ordained clerics, gave sermons, and baptized people. They adopted a special hairstyle (tonsure) symbolically connecting them to the asceticism of the desert and a moral code that brought them into contact with the poor and that gave them a unique position from which to make demands on their kings (and on the poor.) However, towards the end of the Merovingian kingdom, these same bishops proved prone to corruption and sinful natures, similarly to how the Carolingians would also depict the Merovingians ... We can live a life of altruism, valour and nobility or one fuelled by ambition, greed and violence. Macbeths journey from the former to the later showcases to the audience the dangers of selfishness. It prompts us to question our view of life do we succumb to the false promises of evil, as tempting as they are, or do we remain defiant and true to ourselves. He is battling with his innate goodness if good, why do I yield to that suggestion whose horrible image doth unfix my hair and make his heart knock at his ribs . His language reveals that he is considering murdering king Duncan, though he would loathe doing it. However at the end of the aside Macbeth decides not to follow through with the murder if chance will have me king, why chance may crown me without my stir and instead leave it to chance as he knows he should be loyal to king Duncan our duties are to your throne . From this aside the audience learns that Macbeth wants greatness to be his but the horribleness of murder and his loyalty to the throne are preventing him. At this point Macbeth is still a good man even though he is flawed. He is aware of his own ambition but is not allowing to undermine his integrity. Sunset Blvd. Essay The Thematic Intentions of Sunset Boulevard The film Sunset Boulevard directed by Billy Wilder and staring the main characters of Norma Desmond, Joe Gillis, and Max Von Mayerling is ideal example of how important film making techniques help depict a movie s core theme intentions with vivid clarity. Classic Hollywood is the first thing that comes to mind when one speaks about this film s style. Throughout the movie that motif is seen in several different ways, this is just one of them. In almost all of the depictions this dream is some how linked with being shattered or simply not being what it s thought to be all. The jest of it is the fact that it does draw a parallel to extreme negativity and it also begins to show specifically how Wilder uses formality in parts of his direction. For this establishing scene the realism is viewed simply through the continuity editing that I have already touched on in some detail about the actual shots, angles, and camera movements involved here. This invisible style that is seen in so many Classic Hollywood films makes it seem like what is shown definitely could happen in real life. The only thing here that might not go hand in hand with that is the fact that this type of depiction was definitely not what the industry and the audience in their own reality was used to. Therefore, the superior thing about this fact is that because we know that it was not normal for its time, it takes that central theme of industry decryption and makes it even more poignant by itself and especially to the people that first saw this ... When the Revolutionaries were held back by Bolshevik guards, they fired back at them by attacking their Bolshevik government. The countries that opposed the Bolsheviks were the Revolutionaries as mentioned before, the Mensheviks ( who once controlled the Provisional Government), and the Tsarists (who wanted to put Nicholas the second at the throne after rescuing him). Primary Care Physicians are ultimately more likely to make the diagnosis of PPD over their obstetrician since they usually have a more solid foundation and trust built up after being seen there more frequently. A test is given to women around eight to twelve weeks postpartum in order to determine the likelihood of postpartum depression and overall health of the mother (Postpartum Depression, 358 359). Another scholarly journal I found was Disorganized attachment in early childhood: Meta analysis of precursors, concomitants, and sequelae by Marinus H van Ijzendoorn, Carlo Schuengel, and Marian J. The journal describes how a mother s postpartum depression affects the mental development of the child as well as their own attachment issues that can result in educational delays as well as behavioral issues (Development and Psychopathology, 228). • 19. Traditional Belief Of Interracial Marriage Traditionally, people have believed that when a person marries outside of their race, they do so as a way to escape from their race, culture, or traditional beliefs. In contrast, popular culture theorizes that interracial marriages are motivated not by a desire to leave behind one s heritage, but by love between two people who happen to be of different races. In this paper, I seek to analyze and compare these two perspectives, proposing a theory that combines the two by accounting for a person s upbringing and beliefs when deciding what their motivation may be. I first analyze the traditional belief of interracial marriage in comparison to the popular culture belief and present my theory combining the two. I then analyze the effect of dominant versus nondominant culture on motivations, and use examples from popular culture to look at the effect a person s culture and upbringing can have their motivations for marriage. Lastly, I explain how my perspective will affect the way I live my life. Interracial marriage has traditionally been viewed as a means of expressing a hatred of oneself, of escaping something in one s culture or self that one no longer wants to identify with. Jacki Thompson Rand describes the outcome of this phenomenon in an essay on her experience as the child of an interracial marriage. She explains how her mother married a white man in an effort to make herself more white, and therefore more legitimate: My mother s marriage to my father was a racial love ... She could be referred to as Mrs. Johnson, but the line, Who ever knew a Johnson with a quick tongue? (Walker, 337), leads me to believe that Johnson is her maiden name. To be a mother is who and what she is, in this story, with no especial plans for when her youngest gets married. While she would be considered the protagonist, I feel that both Maggie and Dee are as equally integral to the story, and all have their own and share antagonists. The short story may be told from Mama s point of view but the plot truly revolves around all three. What would happen to the quilts on the wall or the pieces of the churn when they went out of style? What if she never thought of anything artistic to do with the dasher? What if she moved and didn t have an alcove with a table large enough for a centerpiece, or the room for these pieces of art? We can only imagine, because as soon as Maggie says that Dee can have them, and that she can member Grandma Dee without the quilts (342), it s obvious which girl deserves them. This isn t lost on Mama, and in taking action giving quilts to Maggie she stands up to her own personal antagonist and in doing so, negates Maggie s antagonistic idea that her lot in life is to lose. If it weren t for Dee s entitled attitude towards her family and outward lack of respect for them, you could feel more easily that the time period was her antagonist, as well. • 23. The Funeral Of Julius Caesar The Funeral Speeches in Julius Caesar Words have great power and astounding capability when the wielder uses them to their true advantage. William Shakespeare is a revered writer of the Renaissance Era, and his work continues to be used and influential today. In his play Julius Caesar, two speakers use their ability with words to turn the opinion of their audience, ultimately starting a war. Through analysing their tactics as well as the words themselves we can more fully understanding why it ended as it did; more importantly, we can also understand speaking styles, when to implement each, and how they impacted their citizens so thoroughly. These speeches occurred right after Caesar s assassination. Brutus spoke first, then left. Marc Antony gave a speech following his, with his own unique tactics. It was the combination of these two speeches that resulted in the resolution of the play. As I have previously stated, Brutus was the first to speak. He spun a beautiful tale, using logos as his primary form of persuasion. He said things such as, Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. () These statements painted him to be the noblest of men. He wanted the townspeople to believe his was in the right, and did it solely for their benefit. The reasons for the assassination were stated clearly and in a mechanical sense, it seemed none could argue with his logic. He offered to commit suicide and a citizen promptly shouted, Live, Brutus! live, live! (), demonstrating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Its how you react to a situation that differs you from a hero or a villain. The next archetype i ll be talking about is the villain/monster archetype. These two archetypes are basically the same that s why I grouped them together. There many examples of the monster archetype in the odyssey such as scylla and charybdis, the Cyclopes, and the sirens. Come this way, honored Odysseus great glory of the achaeans, and stay your ship so that you can listen here to our singing; for no one see has ever sailed past this place in his black ship until he has listened to the honey sweet voice that issues from our lips; then goes on well pleased, knowing more than he ever did; for we know everything that the argives and the Trojans did and suffered in wide Troy through the gods despite. Over all the generous earth we know everything that happens. (12.184 196) . That was the Siren s song as they tried to lure Odysseus where they would then kill him. The Greek people associated monsters and villains with women for example Scylla, Sirens, and Circe the witch. The faces of ancient times are such distant shadows of our own experiences , so alien in culture and superstition, what themes of dread and fright could expect to share in common with the inhabitants of a world so far moved from our modern frame of mind? Through these events, companies should try to create a company culture that takes into consideration of all the generations, so that everyone can work together without any disagreements about the culture of the company (Srivastava). All the generations believe that there are certain negative stereotypes associated with each age group and these stereotypes can cause conflicts and challenges in the workplace because one generation will think they are better than another which will cause the generations to not work well with each other. For example, the stereotypes that older generations believe that Millennials have are that they are lazy, entitled, tech obsessed, and overeager while the Millennials view the older generations as being too stubborn to change and difficult to train (Srivastava). Stereotypes in the workplace is a big challenge for many organizations that have many generations working together, but the best way to tackle this problem is for leaders of a company to instill in their workers to not label other generations and not let the perceived stereotypes change how they view all age groups (Gausepohl, 2016). In addition, the leaders are also encouraged to get involved in any problems that are forming in their company and they should take immediate action to resolve them. The main reason why stereotypes in the workplace is a challenge is because of the pride and ignorance that each generation has that creates these beliefs about each age group. The way to eliminate this kind of thinking is by focusing more on the ability of an individual and not the age of the person, so that pride and ignorance does not blind a person s judgement about another individual ... A Brief Note On Unemployment And Minimum Wage Essay Unemployment and Minimum Wage Both the microeconomics and the macroeconomics theories dictate that an increase in the minimum wage will directly impact the rate of unemployment by shooting upwards. As of the moment, there is a heated debate on whether the Congress should pass a bill that seeks to increase United States minimum wage. The consequent change will eventually have both positive as well as negative impacts on various economical aspects particularly unemployment. As for this paper, the focus will be narrowed down to examining the link between minimum wage and unemployment rates across states and also highlighting the current state of unemployment in both Los Angeles and Seattle. In reference to microeconomic theory, the bare minimum wage is considered the price level on top of the equilibrium that is set by the demand and supply curve. A slight increase in the minimum wage greatly impacts the quantity of workers supplied in the economy by significantly increasing due to the initial heave of interest to enroll in the workforce. Similarly, there will be a decline in the quantity of demanded labor given that the marginal labor cost will directly increase as the minimum wage increases. As a result of the increased quantity supplied and the subsequent decrease in demanded quantity, there will be a creation of labor surplus in the workforce, culminating in the increased rates of unemployment. Next would be Ruth Tapp she showed me and proved to me that if you put time and effort into things that you will have a good outcome. The last example that I have is Clarissa (Clara) Barton. She was so indulged in her work that she came up with the red cross because she wanted to help everyone that needed it. As a matter of fact Mary Breckinridge would be a good example of someone who is inspired to being a nurse. She had dedicated her life to becoming a nurse. It all ... Do you want someone who cares about you getting better or someone who just wants to find a solution so you could leave? Would you rather have someone who listens to everything you say and finds the best solution that you are comfortable with or do you want someone who listens but comes up with an idea that you aren t comfortable with? Thus, this method gives a researcher an in depth understanding of the participants experiences using qualitative inquiry to determine the why, when, where, what, and how of the study. Qualitative research is subject to judgments about the data and synthesizes the findings using specialized approaches such as experimental or non experimental. Researchers often opt to use non experimental approaches in studies using surveys, interviews, observations, and case studies. Even though an experimental approach is appropriate in quantitative research, it further enables researchers to find answers and collect data (Bagozzi amp; Yi, 2012). This approach is unique in its hypotheses and the study of behavior, making it valid and reliable. They are five types of approaches to select within qualitative research: case study, ethnography, phenomenology, grounded theory, and narrative research. Each research method is distinct in its approach towards inquiry within the qualitative paradigm in terms of appearance, conditions, focus, and theories (Creswell, 1998). There are also similarities in these approaches such as characteristics and assumptions concerning the context of the study. This research evaluates each approach and determines that the phenomenology method is best suited for the study of women in leadership and the challenges they face climbing the ... • 41. Ganglion Cyst Research Paper A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous, fluid filled lump that occurs near joints or tendons. The ganglion cyst grows out of a joint or the lining of a tendon. It most often develops in the hand or wrist but can also develop in the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle, or foot. The round or oval ganglion can be pea sized or larger than a grape. Increased activity may enlarge the size of the cyst because more fluid starts to build up. CAUSES It is not known what causes a ganglion cyst to grow. However, it may be related to: Inflammation or irritation around the joint. If it is a ganglion, a light often shines through it. Your health care provider may order an X ray, ultrasound, or MRI to rule out other conditions. TREATMENT Ganglions usually go away on their own without treatment. If pain or other symptoms are involved, treatment may be needed. Treatment is also needed if the ganglion limits your movement or if it gets infected. Treatment may include: Wearing a wrist or finger brace or splint. Taking anti inflammatory medicine. Draining fluid from the lump with a needle (aspiration). Injecting a steroid into the joint. Surgery to remove the ganglion cyst. Driving a vehicle involves coordination of the locomotor system along with the healthy function of the brain. When the driver feels drowsy, it may unsettle the balance and may lead to erratic driving causing potential accidents. The main aim of the driver drowsiness detection system is to design a monitoring system that processes the image to indicate the current driving aptitude of the driver and raise a warning alarm if the driver is fatigued. Keywords Drowsiness Detection, Feature Extraction, LBP, Yawn Detection, Fatigued II. INTRODUCTION Each year hundreds of people lose their lives due to traffic accidents around the world. Throughout my entire life I have always been fascinated with typography even before I knew what a font even truly was. For the past few years I have been following the works of typographic designer Alex Trochut and his amazing work. His work can be seen on anything from famous magazines such as TIME and Vanity Fair to globally recognized names such as Katy Perry and Wiz Khalifa. Barcelona based Trochut is renowned for his extremely intricate and detailed typographic design work (inkbotdesign.com). For TIME magazine they commissioned him to create a cover that depicts the best of 2013 he creates this with a flowing pattern using six equally spaced lines which he has curved and gives the implied sense of form and space. The final design is so creative and in doing so is very eye catching and memorable. • 45. The Energy Of Energy Usage Introduction Historically, the distillation of alcohol (spirits, wine and vodka) has been a high end consumer in terms of energy usage. According to U.S. Dept. of Energy, there are more than 40,000 distillation columns in North America and they consume 40% of the total energy used to operate plants in chemical industries [1]. As a result, researchers have focused their efforts towards developing distillation columns that are more compact, utilize compressors to recirculate latent heat and possess more effective separation technology in order to reduce energy consumption. The principal topics of research that pose effective solutions to these present day energy challenges are: the use of divided wall columns (DWC), self heat recuperation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [3] shows that by using dividing wall columns, the uninstalled equipment cost for the total column configuration is reduced by about 10%. The capital costs savings result from a reduction equipment quantity. There are also indirect benefits; a dividing wall column requires less plot area, shorter piping, electrical runs and smaller storm runoff system [3]. When compared to a conventional two column system, capital costs savings of up to 30% is typical [2]. In summary, fully thermally coupled columns/configurations/ arrangements require less energy than conventional counterparts, because of providing operating conditions that avoid or minimize entropy of mixing formation, which in case of conventional configurations occurs, more or less pronounced, at the feed stage, the ends of the columns, and due to remixing of internal flows [8]. Self Heat Recuperation Technology In order to separate ethanol contents from water, enormous amounts of heat must be applied to the azeotropic mixture during distillation. According to Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, an ethanol water mixture must be distilled at 78.3 degrees Celsius to reach the 80 proof content level of standard vodka [9]. As a result, the heat needed to distill vodka creates the need to explore sources of recycled energy. As investigated by Matsuda et al., self heat recuperation technology utilizes not only latent heat but also the sensible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
