Summary Of Minimum Wage By Barbara Ehrenreich
In 2001, author Barbra Ehrenreich embarked on a mission to explore the lives of low income workers
by becoming one herself, a project that would eventually become Serving in Florida. Ehrenreich
began her quest by procuring housing that she could afford with the minimum wage, an arduous task
that required a compromise between between long commutes and manageable cost. Her search for
employment was no less troublesome. Despite an abundance of help wanted ads, after three days and
two dozen applications, she had not been granted one interview. Ehrenreich eventually found work as
a waitress, where she learned firsthand the struggles of working in a restaurant for minimum wage.
The pace that the work demanded oscillated from lethargic to manic,

Borderline Personality Study
In this paper, I will be reviewing the findings of a study on borderline personality disorder and what
goes on in a person with BPD s brain, for their aggression and impulsivity to be triggered. This study
was conducted by neuroscientists and psychologists at University of Pittsburgh, and Wayne State
University in Detroit. The study was done on fifty six female patients from various clinics who had
met all or most of the criteria for having Borderline Personality Disorder. Their ages ranged from 18
45. The reason given for only testing on women, is that women make up seventy five percent of
people with BPD an overwhelming majority. The subjects were submitted to a series of tests,
including an fMRI scan, a series of Go No Go tests which incorporated different expressions from the
Ekman faces test. The Go No Go test helped the psychologists with behavioral data analysis, as they
recorded the patients hit rates (correct responses), and false alarm rates (errors.) Subjects were all told
to remain on any medications they had been prescribed, even during the fMRI scans. It was found that
many people who suffer from BPD also have other mental illnesses. Nineteen subjects reported having
depression, while eleven reported ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before, I could not tell much difference between it and bipolar disorder, as they both seem to be about
extreme moods and reactions. This article helped me understand a little bit better, that bipolar disorder
is a mood disorder, while BPD is a personality disorder. A person who is bipolar does not really have
an external trigger for their extreme moods, they are something that is chemically induced . Borderline
personality disorder is a different thing, as it slows down the brain s response to rational thinking and
reactions to stimuli, which can lead to extreme impulsivity and outbursts. Bipolar disorder is internal
and chemically based, while BPD tends to be more influenced by external

Analysis and Critique of Reading Assignment 1 Paper Limits of Instruction Level Parallelism
In this report the author provides quantifiable results that show the available parallelism. The report
defines various terminologies like Instruction Level parallelism, dependencies, Branch Prediction,
Data Cache Latency, Jump prediction, Memory address alias analysis etc. used clearly. A total of
eighteen test programs with seven models have been examined and the results show significant effects
of the variations on the standard models. The seven models reflect parallelism that is available by
various compiler/architecture techniques like branch prediction, register renaming etc. The lack of
branch prediction means that it finds intra block ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though this is a good way to increase the available parallelism, but loop unrolling schemes have
difficulty in scheduling instructions efficiently with variable latency dependencies. The new
techniques of dynamic history based approach to increase parallelism is branch prediction allow us to
benefit from a large branch predictor, enhancing success rates that are still improving slightly even
when we are using a 1 megabit predictor. The fair model is relatively insensitive to the size of the
predictor, though even a tiny 4 bit predictor improves the mean parallelism by 50%. The same is
evident in case of the Great model wherein the three most parallel programs are quite insensitive to the
size of the predictor. We look for paths of few conditional branches, up to the fanout limit, but that we
do not look past branches beyond that point. After the fanout limit is reached dynamic prediction is
used to look for instructions from the one predicted path to schedule. When fanout is followed by
good branch prediction, the fanout does not affect much. Parallelism via jump prediction; Subroutine
with return ring technique are used. Smaller the return prediction ring improves some programs a lot,
even under the Great model. A large return ring,

Volkswagen Emission Scandal
VW Emission Scandal
In today s society we often come to many debates on several issues that go on in our world today.
Recently there was an ethical debate on whether or not it is ethical to release vehicles with software
that defeats emission testing by the EPA. Volkswagen is being accused of using illegal software
designed to hide emissions during testing by installing cars with a software. The EPA accused
Volkswagen of using the device in nearly over a half a million cars (Davenport). The cars are
reportedly to have been installed with a software that had the ability to turn off the emissions controls
when driving normally and turns them on when the vehicle is undergoing an emissions test. With all
of these assumptions of Volkswagen cheating the emissions testing does that question their ethical
corporate responsibility?
It s shocking that the software engineers of Volkswagen overlooked and neglected their corporate
responsibility as professionals. Professionals who have a semi regulatory responsibility within the ...

The Problems Of Bread And The French Revolution At Bordeaux
Brace, Richard Munthe. The Problems of Bread and the French revolution at Bordeaux. The American
Historical Review 51, no. 4 (1946): 649 667.
Hard labor and low wages where common for the peasants of France during the revolutionary years.
Bordeaux a city in France was well known for its success in exports and imports. The ports of
Bordeaux where considered the best than any other city in France. Its yield of profit was significantly
more than any other city. The upper class prospered and working and peasantry suffered intense labor.
Brace argues that despite low wages and hard labor they were not the cause of the upcoming
revolution in 1789. Brace argues that high prices of bread and scarcity of grain due to bad harvests
where the cause of the civil unrest. Subsistence for peasantry was largely dependent on bread. When
the bread ran and out and starvation became a problem the working class looked to the government for
relief. Brace goes in depth on the government s failure to fix its grain problem, regulate bread prices,
and feed it citizens. Bread is the staple food of the majority of France, without it revolution was
inevitable.

something that anyone can make pancakes, meat loaf, tuna salad but it carries a certain taste of
memory. ― Mitch Albom
From back as far as I can remember my family and friends have asked to open difficult jars for them.
Over the years I used and developed several tips and tricks for opening difficult jars. On this page I
will share some of these with you. In addition, if you have any tips or tricks you would like to share
with my good readers please fell free to add them after my post.

Tap around the top of the jar, but not to hard you want to try to loosen the seal not break the jar, then
give it a good twist. If that does not work, insert the spoon in between the lip of the cap and the jar
itself, then push the spoon down toward the jar. Try to relieve the pressure on the jar.
Tip #3
Here is another tip to open that most stubborn jar. Take a cloth, a rubber glove or even a dryer sheet.
Put it over the lid and give it a good twist. The item that you choose will give you a better grip,
making it easier to get the jar lid off.

Tip #4
Another great tip that I have learned over the years is to take the jar, turn it upside down and smack
the bottom with your hand. This will loosen any air pockets or stuck food making the difficult jar
easier to open.
Tip #5
One of my favorite tricks to open a jar that is being so stubborn, is to take a tennis ball and cut it in
half. After you do that, take one half and place it over the top of the lid. Then twist.

Zoroastrianism In Religion
Zoroastrianism is the world s oldest living monotheistic religion. It may have very few followers
today but it is one of the most influential religions of all time. It eventually led to many of the ideas of
big religions today including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Zoroastrianism is a very important
religion yet if you ask someone on the street they would most likely never have heard of it or its ideas.
The two biggest ideas of Zoroastrianism are Dualism, their God Ahura Mazda, and the Amensha
spirits. To begin, dualism is the idea of the complete separation of good and evil both morally and
cosmically. The battle between the two will never be over and one will never win, Good and evil fight
an unequal battle in which the former is assured of triumph. God s omnipotence is thus only
temporarily limited (Duchesne Guillemin 1). Good and evil work against each other but they also need
each other in order to survive. Without evil, good could not exist
Foremost, moral dualism is the fight between good and evil in each and every person mind and body.
Essentially, the good angel on one shoulder and the evil devil on the other. In good people, the good in
them is winning the battle and shining through into how they interact with others and how they live
their live. In bad people, the evil in them shines through and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ahura Mazda is the source of everything good in the world such as progress or happiness. Ahura
Mazda is the center importance of the religion and he is always working to overpower the forces of
evil in the universe. He is the only god in Zoroastrianism which is why it is the oldest monotheistic
religion. The word of Ahura was originally told through his prophet Zoroaster. Most Zoroastrians are
very eco friendly because in the religion it is believed that everything created by Ahura Mazda is

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nitroxyl Radicals
Nitroxyl radicals, which belong to the six membered piperidine (TEMPO) or the five membered
pyrrolidine (PROXYL) classes, are stable organic free radicals. The steric hindrance around the
nitroxide group makes these compounds very stable. They are less toxic, and even serve as spin
probes [1 2], spin labels [3], contrast agents [4] and antioxidants [5]. Nitroxyl radicals are widely used
as spin probes for low frequency in vivo electron spin resonance imaging (ESRI). In ESRI, the spatial
as well as the spectral information of the exogenously administered spin probes is obtained. Hence,
EPR images present the in vivo visualization of the spin probes often without complementary
anatomical information. In contrast, MRI is a well established modality that gives superior ... Show

Thus, the free radical information can be monitored through observation of changes in proton NMR
signal intensity. The unique advantage of this technique is high spatial resolution of the image, short
acquisition time, good sensitivity and signal enhancement of approximately two order of magnitudes.
The significant contrast to noise ratio obtained by this technique at very low magnetic fields for 1H
based MRI detection (l10 mT) compared to the routinely used MRI systems that operate at fields 11 T
makes OMRI advantageous in obtaining physiological information. OMRI seems to be one of the
most promising method for protease activity imaging for mainly two reasons. First, it can provide high
contrasts and 3D well resolved images as seen recently on tumor bearing mice [8]. Furthermore the
involvement of a free radical is favorable to molecular imaging since the free electron is very sensitive
to various changes in its environment: redox status [9], pH, molecular rotational correlation time

Fashion In The Early 1900s
The Jazz culture inspired multiple dances, such as the Black Bottom and the ever popular Charleston.
These dances required lots of movement leading to a shift in women s fashion. Women wore less
undergarments, went without coresets, and designed dresses that allowed for more freedom of
movement. In 1921, Coco Chanel introduced the drop waist dress, which were worn with long strings
of glass beads or pearls. By 1925 these dresses resembled the shifts that were worn under the dresses
of the early 1900. Evening dress were made up of mesh material, sleeveless, low v neckline or
backless, and sometimes adorned with sequence. These new fashions were advertised in fashion
magazines that made their appearance in the 20s, Vouge, The Queen, and the ... Show more content on

With advances in technologies and the development of college and night life, more young people were
spending more time together unsupervised. These changes created a sexual revolution in people dated
several partners at a time and participated in petting. The invention of the automobile allowed for
young people to travel outside the family sitting room, even young women learned to drive. Electric
lights permitted for young adults to stay out later into the night and created activities to enjoy, such as
the theater and night clubs. These developments in the dating culture strayed from the prior Victorian
teachings of how ladies should behave with boys. The new woman expected to be treated on these
dates and that meant that she needed to allow petting. Petting consisted of cuddling, kissing, and even
foundling. This behavior led older women to believe that their daughters were partaking in premarital
sex, Joshua Zeitz disputes this in his book, Flapper: A Madcap Story of Sex, Style, Celebrity, and the
Women Who Made America Modern. He claims that the percentage of women who were virgins when
they were married only varied between the years of 1910 to 1929 by 3%. This shows that even though
young women in the 20s were engaged in petting, they were not sexually

Supernatural Aid In Campbell s A Once And Future King
Like the training wheels on a child s bike, help is given in order to make the new rider stronger and
better able to control the dynamics of a newly discovered notion. In Campbell s eyes, the same
concept correlates with the help given to a hero. This help making them wiser, stronger and better able
to face the challenges offered by adventure. The help may include the distribution of maps, weapons,
or something more mythical, some sort of supernatural aid. This aid, according to Campbell, is always
in the form of a mentor, a wise, old prune that completes the tasks of foreseeing the hero to victory.
Merlyn, in the story A Once and Future King, better adheres to Campbell s vision regarding the
magical guide in the heroic journey. The concept of a magical guide or supernatural aid informs the
audience of unworldly guidance that follows after the acceptance of The Call to Adventure . The texts
A Once and Future King and Le Morte d Arthur both exemplify an entity, Merlyn, that invades the life
of a hero, Arthur, as an aid in order to guide him to victory regarding his journey and adventure.
Heroes are often began on their trip by a character who has aced the laws of the outside world and
returns to offer wisdom and experience. This otherworldly character or magical guide regularly gives
the hero the way to conquer the adventure. As a less than dependable rule the blessing is just insight.
In each occurrence it is something the hero needs to succeed. As Campbell says,

organisms that have soft bodies typically composed of a head and foot region. The dorsal epidermal

infernalis have two dorsal fins on its mantle that are used for swimming in addition to their jet
propulsion locomotive ability, but its low metabolism and weaker musculature does not allow for long
distances. While it cannot change colours, this animal is covered with photophores, with the larger and
more complex ones at the tips of the arms and at the base of its fins, which contributes to its
bioluminescent ability. When turned off, the animal is invisible in the dark waters, and when the
photophores are turned on, V. infernalis have the ability to modulate the intensity of the light and
create patterns by moving its arms, confusing predators or attracting prey. When threatened, this
animal can spread its webbed arms over its head and mantle, a position known as the pineapple

different animal, and its black underside allows it to blend in to the inky sea depths. In lieu of an ink

Conduct Disorder Essay
My hypothesis on conduct disorder in children can lead to criminal activity in adulthood. The research
that was conducted from this question was that of Memorial University of Newfoundland, the
Department of Psychology. Sampson and Laub (1997) discussed conduct disorder as not being a
single cause of adult criminal behavior, but instead the start to what they termed as a life of
cumulative disadvantage . The conduct disorder might indeed be the initial cause of problems, but
may be replaced by the effects of disapproving, negative reactions from others.
Based on prior research, Kratzer and Hodgins (1997) were aware of the association between conduct
problems in childhood and adult criminal behavior. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well conduct disorder is a complicated group of behavioral and emotional problems in youngsters.
Children and adolescents with this disorder have great difficulty following rules and behaving in a
socially acceptable way. They are often viewed by other children, adults and social agencies as bad or
delinquent, rather than mentally ill.
Some causes for conduct in adolescents are no discipline, unstructured discipline and a broken home.
A broken home is one of the factors that can produce a delinquent child. A broken home reduces the
opportunity for creating a strong attachment between child and parents and that reduces the parent s
ability to condition the child. Many theories concerning the causes of juvenile crime focus either on
the individual or on society as the major contributing influence. Theories centering on the individual
suggest that children engage in criminal behavior because they were not sufficiently penalized for
previous delinquent acts or that they have learned criminal behavior through interaction with others.
In fact Sampson and Laub (1997) say that isolating criminal behavior as being caused by conduct
disorder does not allow for the array of influences and interactions that lead a child with problems to
criminal activity in adulthood. They suggest that a child with conduct problems starts in on a life of
cumulative disadvantage. The conduct disorder might indeed be the

Similarities Between Jeddrich And Gatsby

exceptionally close acquaintance. Nick and Leland share a few similarities, their close connection to
Gatsby and Kane respectively as well as their clear admiration and endearment towards them. They
both hold high standards for these men and are disappointed when they realize that they are capable of
human error. Jedediah and Nick are similar however, they are more different than alike. Leland is
disillusioned with Kane and eventually gives up on him. Clearly when he sent Kane the Declaration of
Principles it was as a symbol of Jedediah breaking up with him, their friendship, their partnership,
their trust. Nick, however, seems to waver at times, but ultimately only go up on the gay for Gatsby

Synopsis: George Armstrong Custer was a West Point graduate who attained military promotions to
brigadier general and major general in the regular army on March 13, 1865 and major general of
volunteers April 15, 1865 during the American Civil War. Later in 1870 s, Custer moved to the west to

warriors was fought where he led 210 men. Custer and all of his men were killed in the battle. The
battle, also known as Custer s Last Stand, was part of the Black Hills War against a confederation of
Plains Indians, including the Cheyenne and Dakota Sioux. It is considered one of the most
controversial battles in U.S. history. A cavalry commander in the United States Army, Custer fought in
both the Indian Wars as well as the Civil War. He was born and brought up in Ohio and Michigan and
West Point admitted in 1858. During the Civil War he gained a reputation that was strong because of
whom he associated with. The Battle of Bull Run was his first major involvement. He had a temporary
promotion to major general but returned to captain at the end of the war. After the Civil Wars, he left

Rhetorical Analysis Of Under The Influence By Scott...
During 1945, the final year of World War II, the domestic economy of the United States experienced a
series of recessions. As of consequence, many Americans were unemployed and impoverished. In
order to escape the challenges of society, many turned to alcohol. Therefore, due to the prevalence of
alcohol consumption, alcoholism infected the lives of many people. Scott Russell Sanders describes
his ability to overcome adversity as a result of having an alcoholic father by the use of ethos, pathos,
and logos in his essay Under the Influence .
Primarily, Sanders obtains the trust of the audience by establishing a common struggle. The intended
audience of Sanders essay includes the sons or daughters of alcoholic parents. By sharing his personal

Sanders understand his reasoning is incorrect, he cannot come to terms with the reality of the truth.
Therefore, he engages in an internal conflict of man versus self, as he must learns that alcoholism is
the root cause of his father s agony. In addition, he states, ...I played the stalwart and dutiful son who
would hold the family together (Sanders 743). From this statement, the audience can understand that
Sanders calls upon himself to be the strong one, the shoulder for others to cry upon. He engages the
sympathy of the audience because his actions reveal to the audience that he has no shoulder to lean
upon. He must be the comforter, but as the comforter, he has no one to strengthen or encourage him.

The Importance Of Being Earnest Truth And Truth Essay
In The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, Algernon tells Jack that The truth is rarely pure
and never simple and because the truth is this way, it makes modern literature a complete impossibility
(10). Throughout this play, all the characters try to find their own truths, some by bunburying and
others by writing their own truths. Either way, Wilde makes the truth about his characters nuanced and
ambiguous, which in turn allows his audience to question his true intentions for The Importance of
Being Earnest. For the characters, the truth is hard to figure out because there is confusion between
things being serious or trivial. This confusion is the source of inspiration for the characters to create
their own truths, which are clearer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cecily reveals to Algernon (Ernest) that they have been engaged for the past three months, and that

Gender Stereotypes In Rod Serling s The Twilight Zone
Most qualities revered in people are subjective, and leadership is one of these traits. However, does
not have to be a symptom of anything negative and in fact, allows for an every human being to revere
a unique person if they so wanted. A few specific people have garnered much attention in the recent
centuries for their works and endeavor, among them a man who is commonly said to be one of the
forefathers of science fiction television. Rod Serling, the creator of the Twilight Zone, was a visionary
man who turned hardships into stories that would influence those before and after death. While not the

The Geology Of Ontario Through Its Rocks
Minerals are what make up Rocks and rocks are what make up the geology of an area. In this report,
we will focus on the geology of Ontario through its rocks. We will look at ten difference rocks
samples that have been collected from several different places here in Windsor Ontario including the
beach, the river, gravel pits, along highways and roadways as well in parks and campsites. The rocks
that were collected are all rocks that have formed right here in Ontario.
Canada and especially Ontario have very interesting and much filled geologic pasts. Ontario has many
types of rocks and minerals that have formed and are still forming due to the geology. Ontario has
sedimentary rocks; igneous rock, and metamorphic rock as well as minerals such as gold, silver,
quartz, and many more. In this paper, we will begin by talking about ten rocks that were collected
right here in Windsor Ontario. The rocks were examined from the outside which tended to be
weathered and the inside which were fresh.
Description of rock types:
The collection of the rocks was based on just picking up the most amount of difference looking rocks
that was possible and bringing them home to analyze. This was done for about two months from many
difference locations including campgrounds, beaches, rivers, highways as well as construction sites.
After about two months there were many rocks so I started to analyze and take out the rocks that were
of the same kind. I found many granite, basalt and conglomerate rocks.

Precious Metals And Human Resources
Part1 Precious Metals ability Precious Metals Price Soybeans ability Soybeans Price China 100 40 1 5
U.S. 1 40 500 5 (1) According to this case China can product 100 kilos of precious metals and 1 kills
of soybeans per day and the U.S. can produce 1 kilo of Precious Metals and 500 kilos of soybeans per
day. We can easily calculate that the opportunity cost for China to only produce 1 kilo precious metals
is 1/100=0.01 kilo of soybeans. The U.S. s opportunity cost for only product 1 kilo precious metals is
500/1=500 kilos of soybeans per kilo. Compare with these two number we can see there is a huge
difference between China and the U.S. s cost for producing precious metals, which is 500/0.01=50000
times. In another word, China have a much lower cost for them to produce the precious metals than
the U.S. Using the same method, we can know that the cost of producing 1 kilo soybeans in China
equal to 100/1=100 kilos of precious metals. However, in the U.S. it only cost them 1/500=0.002 kilo
of precious metals to produce one kilo of soybeans; it means the U.S. has a much lower cost for them
to produce the soybeans than China. i. According to the analysis provided above, we can know that
China has a much lower cost to produce the precious metals and a super high cost for them to grow
soybeans. It is better for China to focus on produce the precious metals instead of growing soybeans.
That is why China should buy soybeans from the country that have a lower cost to growing them,

Patrick Poib is a fun loving little polar bear. Patrick lives in Greenland in the icy cold tundra with his
mother Polly Poib, and his dad, Pete Poib. In their little igloo they play around, eat and sleep, but
when they are not in their igloo they are out cloud gazing, on the weekends. They always eat either
fresh caught fish for all of their meals, or they eat yummy Eskimos that hunt caribous. Polly and Pete
have the same job, they re igloo builders. Polly designs the houses, and Pete builds them. Patrick goes
to school and walks home or takes the sled with his friend Linda the lemming. The Poibs, at the end of
the day, meet up in their igloo and eat lunch all together.
One day a strange thing happened, more than strange, it was almost something that has never
happened in Greenland; Patrick s house started to melt. It was during summer, which is not very hot
though, but still sunny, but this has never happened before. Greenland s normal temperature outside is
27° Celsius to 5° Celsius; it is always cold! Now the sun is getting even stronger, and it has reached

the first sign of it was the water dripping from the ceiling; it only dripped on Patrick, but he ignored it.

Brand Management in Small and Medium Sized (SME) Retailers: A Future Research Agenda by
Richard Mitchell The purpose of this article is for all people not familiar with business and how brand
management works. It is the key to understanding how to read the outcome of the integer programing
problem we have created. It gives guidelines and charts if a brand or style of a brand should be
dropped and replaced with something similar. It also provides an idea of using binary numbers as your
decision variable while determining another function to see if you need a brand or not. A 1 would
signify that you want to sell that product in the store and a 0 means you should drop the product from
your shelves. The Model Stock Plan in Small Stores by N.H. Comish This article talks about inventory

does make a slight amount more than that, but in the eyes of the Federal Government it is still
considered a small business. Another way the article identifies a small business is when it has less than
15 employees which company XYZ does. The model the author wants the reader to use is very reliant
on economic trends. This leads the reader to realize they are talking about an EOQ (Economic Order
Quantity) model but using the company s percent share of the market to scale

Lyndon B. Johnson s Foreign Highlights
Lyndon B. Johnson became president in 1963, a time period in which the United States was engaged
in two battles on both the domestic and the international fronts. At home the President was faced with
growing Civil Rights issues and abroad he faced some of the greatest challenges of his political career.
Internationally the United States was already undergoing a Cold war with the Soviet Union and the
newly adopted policy of containment had become the answer to all of the rising Communist
movements all over the world. In Vietnam a massive Civil War was underway as the Pro Communist
Regime of the North invaded the Pro American Regime of the South. The North, which was led by Ho
Chi Minh, was backed by the Soviet Union, China and other communist allies invaded the South
backed by the United States and other anti communist allies. Minh s army consisted of North
Vietnamese forces and the Viet Cong, a South Vietnamese communist common front aided by the
North. Ngô Đình Diệm, the leader of the South, had forces that consisted of South Vietnamese
Soldiers and US Soldiers. Amidst these conflicts Johnson rose and took initiatives that would define
American Policy in Vietnam for the rest of his presidency. The Gulf of Tonkin incident was one of the
incidents that increased United States influence and intervention in Vietnam. The USS Maddox, was

Portrayal of Women in the Media Gender is the psychological characteristics and social categories that
are created by human culture. Doing gender is the concept that humans express their gender when they

different places. Schools, parents, and friends can influence a person. Another major factor that
influences millions of impressionable females and males is television. Not only does the television
teach each sex how to act, it also shows how one sex should expect the other sex to act. In the current

girls are seen playing games like ‘Pretty, Pretty, Princess and ‘Barbie . Viewers rarely see girls in the

Monetary Policy Of The Federal Reserve System
Most people don t understand Economic growth or what takes place in the economy with regard to
inflation, unemployment, or interest rates. These things are all regulated by the central bank called the
Federal Reserve System. The tope covered in this paper is the monetary policy which is the policy that
decides if unemployment, interest, and inflation decreases or increases. The Monetary policy decides
what price a person pays for an item at the store, how much interest a person will get charged on a
loan for a car. This is something most people consider, most just look for the best price point or look
where their money can go the farthest.
Monetary policy consists of specific changes in the money supply to influence interest rates which in
return adjusts the level of spending in the economy. The goal of the policy is to achieve and maintain
price stability, full employment, and economic growth. The regulation of the money supply and
interest rates are controlled by a central bank, such as the Federal Reserve Board in the U.S., in order
to control inflation. Monetary policy is only one of the two ways the government can affect the
economy. By altering the effective cost of money, the Federal Reserve can ultimately change the
amount of money that is spent by consumers and businesses.
The Federal Reserve System is the United States central bank and was established in 1913 and
consists of the Board of 7 Governors in Washington, D.C., and 12 Federal Reserve District Banks.

NFL Position Report
Like many team sports, a successful AFL team requires players with differing physical attributes to
contribute effectively to the team. Therefore, it is extremely important to choose players with the
appropriate characteristics, fitness components and energy systems for their particular role. The
position that is best suited to me is the midfield as players in this position must have strong agility,
speed and aerobic capacity . It is evident from a range of fitness tests that I display these qualities to a
high standard, which therefore supports midfield being the most appropriate position for me.

Given the demands of the position, without aerobic fitness a midfielder would be physically unable to
perform well. This is the final reason supporting the statement that midfield is the most appropriate
position for me. Aerobic capacity is the ability of the heart and lungs to get oxygen to the muscles .
Midfielders must display efficient aerobic fitness as they need to provide support to both the defence
and attack, constantly moving up and down the field. This is extremely tiring, especially when the
midfield needs to help in defence and then is quite hastily required to push hard forward with the ball.
(O Keefe, 2013) According to an article on catapult sports, midfielders cover the greatest total
distance, averaging 17km per game. This is when it is important for a midfielder s aerobic system to
be efficient . The most common method of measuring aerobic capacity is the beep test. After
participating in this test, I scored 10.6. This falls under the very good category , where anything above
11 was excellent . This is well above average for my age group and gender, which therefore means my

Reb Cherosen Quotes With Page Numbers
In today s world, knowledge is useless without the wisdom to apply it to real life situations. The great
biblical author, King Solomon, once wrote, How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight
rather than silver! (Proverbs 16:16). Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good
judgment. In Chaim Potok s novel The Chosen, the main characters Reb Saunders and David Malters
display their immense wisdom when raising their children. In addition Danny Saunders also shows
wisdom with the way he handles his friendship with Reuven Malters. The theme of wisdom exists
throughout the chosen but, it remains mostly evidenced by the characters Reb Saunders, Danny
Saunders, and David Malter.
The personal quality of wisdom is represented by the character Reb Saunders. Possessing wisdom
requires not only knowledge and experience but it also requires good judgment in tough situations.
One example of his wisdom occurred over the span of his time raising his son, Danny. In this instance
he explains how possessing great intellectual intelligence but no soul can be an extremely hazardous
life to live. Better I should have no son at all than to have a brilliant son who had no soul (285). Only

How Does the Director Try to Build Suspense and Scare the...
How does the director try to build suspense and scare the audience in the film Jaws?
The film Jaws, directed by Steven Spielberg, was created approximately 30 years ago. It tells the story
of a shark which attacks and kills numerous people off the north east coast of the USA in a small
holiday resort called Amity Island. The attacks took place around the 4th of July, which in America, is
similar to the British bank holiday. During this time, many Americans and tourists from abroad visit
resorts such as Amity Island for a summer vacation.
The director of the film, Steven Spielberg builds up fear of the shark using many different techniques.
One of these techniques is the use of music. Spielberg uses a non diegetic piece of music which ...

Again, as after the first attack on Chrissie, the audience can t believe how something so terrible is
happening when the mood set by the little boy is so calm and untroubled. This use of music and
contrasting emotions builds up tension and fear affecting the audience as it makes them feel confused,
as they can t understand how things can be so pleasant then suddenly so devastating.
Spielberg also exploits various camera techniques to build up fear and suspense in the film Jaws. For
example, during the second attack on Alex, a lot of different camera techniques and angles are being
used. The start of the scene is a tracking shot, showing Alex coming out of the sea and sitting next to
his mother on the beach. After some persuasion, his mother lets him have just 10 more minutes in the
water. Then a further tracking shot is used, as we follow Alex up the beach as he goes and gets his lilo.
The use of this camera angle, which focuses the audience s attention on Alex, immediately makes
them feel more attached to the character.
The next part of the scene shows Alex running into the sea on his lilo. The camera technique used for
this part is a medium shot from a reverse angle, showing him from behind. This camera angle builds
up fear as all the audience can see is Alex on his lilo and the bearing sea in front of him with no one
else in sight. This immediately makes the audience realise that Alex is vulnerable and that if

The article doesn t go into depth the details of the research, but I believe in a connection between
relaxation and performance. In our world, people who are stressed with anxiety normally don t
perform as well as people who don t feel tension. Moreover, the article talks about overstimulation of
the brain and how that could cause memory problems. Regardless, I am not too worried about the
abstraction of neurons, but I am more refined in seeing that there are experimental studies that proved
the very relationship of rest and memory. For example, Michaela Deware, a principle investigator at
the Heriot Watt University, led an experiment in 2012. Her team investigated the results between those
who had a ten minute rest and those who didn t. The team found out that in comparison to those who
haven t, people who took the ten minute rest remembered ten percent more on a story they heard last
week. These volunteers who took the initiative to sleep were placed in an empty, quiet room that was
free from distractions. After a refinery on the matter of sleep, what surprised me most about the article
is that resting could actually help insomniacs or people diagnosed with amnesia; they ll be able to
relax and retain memory a lot more

Comparing Dr. Moreau And The Beetle
In two fin de siècle novels, H.G. Wells s The Island of Dr. Moreau (1896) and Robert Marsh s The
Beetle (1897), sadism plays a central role. However, while The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Beetle
both include characters that exemplify sadism, the novels differ greatly in the characters portrayals
due to the sadistic characters gender. The sadistic Moreau is presented as Machiavellian tyrant.
However, because Moreau s gender aligns with ideas of gendered sadism, the novel does not portray
him as degenerate, monstrous, nor ambiguous. In contrast, The Beetle tampers with the sadistic female
body, which leads to doubt of her true sex and form and leaves her as an undecidable, degenerate
monstrosity. The sadistic characters descriptions in The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Beetle ... Show

A perplexing amalgamation of culture and nature led to the pathologizing of sexual perversion by 19th
century sexologists (Peakman 1). Richard von Krafft Ebing first introduced the term sadism in his
book Psychopathic Sexualis (1886). Sadism includes the experience of mental and physical suffering
as pleasurable (Holguin 1285). Later defined as one of the modern perversions by Sigmund Freud, it
was traditionally seen as existing within the male domain (Schaffner 182), and as a type of male
sexual cruelty (Wayne 542). Furthering Krafft Ebing s work, Freud suggests that sadism s life
preserving aggression in males is natural and biologically determined (Holguin 1286). In contrast,
masochism, essentially the opposite of sadism, can be seen as

Individual Autonomy Essay
In this report the tensions between the claim to individual autonomy, and the obligation to conform to
community expectations will be identified and examined. Tensions arise due to incompatible ethical
and moral principles. Personal rights, and the desire to be accepted are the main causes of these
tensions. The cornerstone of communitarianism is the individual being socialised into conforming to
the foundation beliefs which contribute to the common good . Individualism on the other hand, states
that every person is of equal standing and has the inalienable right to do with his life what he desires.
It is this belief that clashes with the principle of socialisation, this is because autonomous individuals
say they have the right to express ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the individual s right to abandon the expectation to immunise ones child due to religious
or health concerns, individuals are considered free to question their participation in existing social

individuals to immunise their children in order to protect the health of the community. Individuals that
question the moral and ethical basis on which this expectation is made, do so with their right to
question the government, as opposed to communitarians that are more inclined to accept the
government s policies about immunisation as they believe the government has the best interests of the
people at mind. With this knowledge, does the search for individual notions outweigh the
communitarian expectation that it is in the best interest of the community to conform and become
subversive to the government in order to keep the community safe? These viewpoints are ethically and
morally incompatible and thus are a source of the tensions between the community and the

Royal Caribbean Executive Summary
Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Lines are the three leading companies in the cruise
industry and are listed in descending order according to their positioning. Carnival is the largest
leisure travel company in the world and this is why they maintain the strongest position in the cruise
line industry with operations of around 101 ships among nine cruise brands across the globe that
offers contemporary, premium, and luxury cruise experiences (CCL Annual Report, 2016). Economies
of scale are very important in the cruise industry and this is where Carnival exceeds when compared to
the competition. By operating the largest fleet in the industry, Carnival is able to keep costs down on a

Their focus on cost efficiency while managing operating expenditures to ensure adequate cash and
liquidity is the cost leadership approach much like Carnival Cruise Lines. RCCL has consolidated its
marine operations into one single and global organization to gain competitive advantage through
economies of scale for its entire fleet. The differentiation approach by Royal Caribbean is their
commitment to building state of the art ships, and to further enhance their technological capabilities to
service customer preferences and expectations in an innovative manner (Royal Caribbean Annual
Report, 2015). Royal Caribbean understands that innovation and technology play a pivotal role in all
of its operations, and that can create superior performance relative to its competitors. They also
believe that their state of the art ships will deliver that competitive advantage they are desiring with
their differentiation approach. Royal Caribbean has done it again for the third time with their
introduction of the Harmony of the Seas, which can accommodate at total capacity 6,780 passengers
which allows them to keep the world s largest cruise ship crown in the Royal family (Lipsey,

Castiglia And The Luciano Crime Family
Notorious mobster Frank the Prime Minister Costello headed the Luciano crime family, the most
powerful crime family in New York, from the mid 1930s until 1957. Francesco Castiglia was born in
Calabria, Italy in 1891. Arriving in New York City at the age of four with his immigrant parents,
Costello grew up in East Harlem. By age 13 he had become a member of the 104th street gang. They
were a group of young Italian hoodlums. He was eventually made head of the gang. In 1915 he went
to prison for a year for carrying a concealed weapon. On release Costello allied himself with Charles
Lucky Luciano. He abstained from using violence as a road to success and wealth, Costello claimed
that he never again carried a gun. In the 1920s they branched

Digital Filters And The Digital Filter
2.1.2 Digital Filter
Digital filter is a digital algorithm or device which is composed of a digital multiplier, adder and delay
element. The function of the digital filter is to carry out the operation of the digital code of the input
discrete signal in order to achieve the purpose of changing the spectrum of the signal.
Digital filter has a lot of practical forms, can be roughly divided into two kinds of type: finite impulse
response (FIR) and infinite impulse response (IIR). It can be used in both hardware and software
platform. In the hardware implementation method, it is composed of an adder, a multiplier, which is
completely separate from the analog filter which is composed of resistors, inductors and capacitors.
Digital signal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another outstanding advantage of it is that the strict linear phase can be achieved when some
symmetry conditions are met. Since linear phase filter does not change the shape of the input signal,
but only make the signal delay in the time domain, so the linear phase characteristics has very
important significance in the engineering practice, such as in data communications, image processing
and other applications. It often require that the signal can not have obvious phase distortion in the
transmission and processing, so FIR filter has been widely used.
The causal finite impulse response filter of length M can be described by the transfer function H(z):
(1)
It is a polynomial of and its power is M 1. In time domain, the input and output relationship of the
finite impulse response filter is: (2) y(n) is the output sequence and x(n) is the input sequence.
A direct realization of finite impulse response filter, which can be generated by formula (2). M=5 is
shown in Figure 2.2. The transpose, as shown in Figure 2.3, which is second direct type structure.
Typically a finite impulse response filter with a length of M is described by M coefficients and
requires a M multiplier and (M 1) a two input adder to achieve.

Ehrenreich began her quest by procuring housing that she could afford with the minimum wage, an arduous task that required a compromise between between long commutes and manageable cost. Her search for employment was no less troublesome. Despite an abundance of help wanted ads, after three days and two dozen applications, she had not been granted one interview. Borderline Personality Study In this paper, I will be reviewing the findings of a study on borderline personality disorder and what goes on in a person with BPD s brain, for their aggression and impulsivity to be triggered. This study was conducted by neuroscientists and psychologists at University of Pittsburgh, and Wayne State University in Detroit. The study was done on fifty six female patients from various clinics who had met all or most of the criteria for having Borderline Personality Disorder. Their ages ranged from 18 45. The reason given for only testing on women, is that women make up seventy five percent of people with BPD an overwhelming majority. The subjects were submitted to a series of tests, including an fMRI scan, a series of Go No Go tests which incorporated different expressions from the Ekman faces test. The Go No Go test helped the psychologists with behavioral data analysis, as they recorded the patients hit rates (correct responses), and false alarm rates (errors.) Subjects were all told to remain on any medications they had been prescribed, even during the fMRI scans. It was found that many people who suffer from BPD also have other mental illnesses. Nineteen subjects reported having depression, while eleven reported ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This article helped me understand a little bit better, that bipolar disorder is a mood disorder, while BPD is a personality disorder. A person who is bipolar does not really have an external trigger for their extreme moods, they are something that is chemically induced . Borderline personality disorder is a different thing, as it slows down the brain s response to rational thinking and reactions to stimuli, which can lead to extreme impulsivity and outbursts. Bipolar disorder is internal and chemically based, while BPD tends to be more influenced by external ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The report defines various terminologies like Instruction Level parallelism, dependencies, Branch Prediction, Data Cache Latency, Jump prediction, Memory address alias analysis etc. used clearly. A total of eighteen test programs with seven models have been examined and the results show significant effects of the variations on the standard models. The new techniques of dynamic history based approach to increase parallelism is branch prediction allow us to benefit from a large branch predictor, enhancing success rates that are still improving slightly even when we are using a 1 megabit predictor. The fair model is relatively insensitive to the size of the predictor, though even a tiny 4 bit predictor improves the mean parallelism by 50%. The same is evident in case of the Great model wherein the three most parallel programs are quite insensitive to the size of the predictor. We look for paths of few conditional branches, up to the fanout limit, but that we do not look past branches beyond that point. After the fanout limit is reached dynamic prediction is used to look for instructions from the one predicted path to schedule. When fanout is followed by good branch prediction, the fanout does not affect much. Parallelism via jump prediction; Subroutine with return ring technique are used. Smaller the return prediction ring improves some programs a lot, even under the Great model. A large return ring, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The EPA accused Volkswagen of using the device in nearly over a half a million cars (Davenport). The cars are reportedly to have been installed with a software that had the ability to turn off the emissions controls when driving normally and turns them on when the vehicle is undergoing an emissions test. The American Historical Review 51, no. 4 (1946): 649 667. Hard labor and low wages where common for the peasants of France during the revolutionary years. Bordeaux a city in France was well known for its success in exports and imports. The ports of Bordeaux where considered the best than any other city in France. Its yield of profit was significantly more than any other city. The upper class prospered and working and peasantry suffered intense labor. Brace argues that despite low wages and hard labor they were not the cause of the upcoming revolution in 1789. Brace argues that high prices of bread and scarcity of grain due to bad harvests where the cause of the civil unrest. Subsistence for peasantry was largely dependent on bread. It eventually led to many of the ideas of big religions today including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Zoroastrianism is a very important religion yet if you ask someone on the street they would most likely never have heard of it or its ideas. The two biggest ideas of Zoroastrianism are Dualism, their God Ahura Mazda, and the Amensha spirits. To begin, dualism is the idea of the complete separation of good and evil both morally and cosmically. The battle between the two will never be over and one will never win, Good and evil fight an unequal battle in which the former is assured of triumph. God s omnipotence is thus only temporarily limited (Duchesne Guillemin 1). Good and evil work against each other but they also need each other in order to survive. Without evil, good could not exist Foremost, moral dualism is the fight between good and evil in each and every person mind and body. Essentially, the good angel on one shoulder and the evil devil on the other. • 10. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nitroxyl Radicals Nitroxyl radicals, which belong to the six membered piperidine (TEMPO) or the five membered pyrrolidine (PROXYL) classes, are stable organic free radicals. The steric hindrance around the nitroxide group makes these compounds very stable. They are less toxic, and even serve as spin probes [1 2], spin labels [3], contrast agents [4] and antioxidants [5]. Nitroxyl radicals are widely used as spin probes for low frequency in vivo electron spin resonance imaging (ESRI). In ESRI, the spatial as well as the spectral information of the exogenously administered spin probes is obtained. Hence, EPR images present the in vivo visualization of the spin probes often without complementary anatomical information. In contrast, MRI is a well established modality that gives superior ... OMRI seems to be one of the most promising method for protease activity imaging for mainly two reasons. First, it can provide high contrasts and 3D well resolved images as seen recently on tumor bearing mice [8]. Furthermore the involvement of a free radical is favorable to molecular imaging since the free electron is very sensitive to various changes in its environment: redox status [9], pH, molecular rotational correlation time ... These dances required lots of movement leading to a shift in women s fashion. Women wore less undergarments, went without coresets, and designed dresses that allowed for more freedom of movement. In 1921, Coco Chanel introduced the drop waist dress, which were worn with long strings of glass beads or pearls. Electric lights permitted for young adults to stay out later into the night and created activities to enjoy, such as the theater and night clubs. These developments in the dating culture strayed from the prior Victorian teachings of how ladies should behave with boys. The new woman expected to be treated on these dates and that meant that she needed to allow petting. Petting consisted of cuddling, kissing, and even foundling. This behavior led older women to believe that their daughters were partaking in premarital sex, Joshua Zeitz disputes this in his book, Flapper: A Madcap Story of Sex, Style, Celebrity, and the Women Who Made America Modern. Supernatural Aid In Campbell s A Once And Future King Like the training wheels on a child s bike, help is given in order to make the new rider stronger and better able to control the dynamics of a newly discovered notion. In Campbell s eyes, the same concept correlates with the help given to a hero. This help making them wiser, stronger and better able to face the challenges offered by adventure. The help may include the distribution of maps, weapons, or something more mythical, some sort of supernatural aid. This aid, according to Campbell, is always in the form of a mentor, a wise, old prune that completes the tasks of foreseeing the hero to victory. Merlyn, in the story A Once and Future King, better adheres to Campbell s vision regarding the magical guide in the heroic journey. The concept of a magical guide or supernatural aid informs the audience of unworldly guidance that follows after the acceptance of The Call to Adventure . The texts A Once and Future King and Le Morte d Arthur both exemplify an entity, Merlyn, that invades the life of a hero, Arthur, as an aid in order to guide him to victory regarding his journey and adventure. Well conduct disorder is a complicated group of behavioral and emotional problems in youngsters. Children and adolescents with this disorder have great difficulty following rules and behaving in a socially acceptable way. They are often viewed by other children, adults and social agencies as bad or delinquent, rather than mentally ill. Some causes for conduct in adolescents are no discipline, unstructured discipline and a broken home. A broken home is one of the factors that can produce a delinquent child. A broken home reduces the opportunity for creating a strong attachment between child and parents and that reduces the parent s ability to condition the child. Many theories concerning the causes of juvenile crime focus either on the individual or on society as the major contributing influence. Theories centering on the individual suggest that children engage in criminal behavior because they were not sufficiently penalized for previous delinquent acts or that they have learned criminal behavior through interaction with others. In fact Sampson and Laub (1997) say that isolating criminal behavior as being caused by conduct disorder does not allow for the array of influences and interactions that lead a child with problems to criminal activity in adulthood. They suggest that a child with conduct problems starts in on a life of cumulative disadvantage. The conduct disorder might indeed be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In another word, China have a much lower cost for them to produce the precious metals than the U.S. Using the same method, we can know that the cost of producing 1 kilo soybeans in China equal to 100/1=100 kilos of precious metals. However, in the U.S. it only cost them 1/500=0.002 kilo of precious metals to produce one kilo of soybeans; it means the U.S. has a much lower cost for them to produce the soybeans than China. i. According to the analysis provided above, we can know that China has a much lower cost to produce the precious metals and a super high cost for them to grow soybeans. It is better for China to focus on produce the precious metals instead of growing soybeans. That is why China should buy soybeans from the country that have a lower cost to growing them, ... They always eat either fresh caught fish for all of their meals, or they eat yummy Eskimos that hunt caribous. Polly and Pete have the same job, they re igloo builders. These things are all regulated by the central bank called the Federal Reserve System. The tope covered in this paper is the monetary policy which is the policy that decides if unemployment, interest, and inflation decreases or increases. The Monetary policy decides what price a person pays for an item at the store, how much interest a person will get charged on a loan for a car. This is something most people consider, most just look for the best price point or look where their money can go the farthest. Monetary policy consists of specific changes in the money supply to influence interest rates which in return adjusts the level of spending in the economy. The goal of the policy is to achieve and maintain price stability, full employment, and economic growth. The regulation of the money supply and interest rates are controlled by a central bank, such as the Federal Reserve Board in the U.S., in order to control inflation. Monetary policy is only one of the two ways the government can affect the economy. By altering the effective cost of money, the Federal Reserve can ultimately change the amount of money that is spent by consumers and businesses. Spielberg also exploits various camera techniques to build up fear and suspense in the film Jaws. The start of the scene is a tracking shot, showing Alex coming out of the sea and sitting next to his mother on the beach. After some persuasion, his mother lets him have just 10 more minutes in the water. Then a further tracking shot is used, as we follow Alex up the beach as he goes and gets his lilo. The use of this camera angle, which focuses the audience s attention on Alex, immediately makes them feel more attached to the character. The next part of the scene shows Alex running into the sea on his lilo. The camera technique used for this part is a medium shot from a reverse angle, showing him from behind. The function of the digital filter is to carry out the operation of the digital code of the input discrete signal in order to achieve the purpose of changing the spectrum of the signal. Digital filter has a lot of practical forms, can be roughly divided into two kinds of type: finite impulse response (FIR) and infinite impulse response (IIR). It can be used in both hardware and software platform. In the hardware implementation method, it is composed of an adder, a multiplier, which is completely separate from the analog filter which is composed of resistors, inductors and capacitors. Since linear phase filter does not change the shape of the input signal, but only make the signal delay in the time domain, so the linear phase characteristics has very important significance in the engineering practice, such as in data communications, image processing and other applications. It often require that the signal can not have obvious phase distortion in the transmission and processing, so FIR filter has been widely used. The causal finite impulse response filter of length M can be described by the transfer function H(z): (1) It is a polynomial of and its power is M 1. In time domain, the input and output relationship of the finite impulse response filter is: (2) y(n) is the output sequence and x(n) is the input sequence. A direct realization of finite impulse response filter, which can be generated by formula (2). M=5 is shown in Figure 2.2. The transpose, as shown in Figure 2.3, which is second direct type structure. Typically a finite impulse response filter with a length of M is described by M coefficients and requires a M multiplier and (M 1) a two input adder to achieve.
