Conch Shell In Lord Of The Flies
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a plane crashes on an island and a group of
children are stranded. The Lord of the Flies has many symbolic elements in the essay beginning
from the title to the end of the novel. There were two elements that stood out to me; I want to
examine the Conch Shell and the Signal Fire to show how the significance in the novel. The boys
use the conch shell to indicate who has speaking rights at the moment. One boy says what is on
his mind while holding the shell and others request it to comment on what was said. The quote I
got the conch (180) shows the conch being a symbol of power and being able to give that power
to who holds the conch. By having this structure show the boys keeping a sense... Show more

By keeping the fire going they hope to get the attention of people passing who will rescue them.
Because it is linked so closely with the boys return it becomes a connection to civilisation. For
example, the quote The fire is the most important thing on the island. How can we ever be
rescued except by luck, if we don t keep a fire going? Is a fire too much for us to make? Look at us!
How many are we? And yet we can t keep a fire going to make smoke. Don t you understand? Can
t you see we ought to ought to die before we let the fire out? (Pg 80 81) is an example of how
important the signal fire was. In order to stay connected to civilization, the group of boys had to
keep the fire going because it was their only hope for survival. In the early parts of the novel the
boys want to maintain the fire and keep it going which shows the boys want to be able to go
home to order and civilization. However, when the fire is allowed to go out this shows the boys
becoming savages. It is ironic that at the end of the novel a fire does attract a ship, but it is not
the signal fire it is the fire that Jack and his group use to kill Ralph. When the boys let the fire go
out they become savages which shows the signal fire being a form of civilization. When the fire
dies out so does any sense of

Igbo Tribe Research Paper
The Ibo Tribe Traditions are very important in the Ibo tribe of Nigeria. Death and afterlife play a
very important role in their culture. The traditional Ibo people believe in worshipping their gods
and spirits. They pray to their ancestors and gods in hope for a better future. They also believe a
person has two souls; the eternal ego (the Ibo Maw ) and the life that dies with the body. The
eternal soul takes the form of ghost or shadow when a person dies. The Ibo believe in karma and
praying to their ancestors before meals. The music of the Ibo is designed from forged iron. They
play many melodic instruments including the igba, ichaka, and the opi, an instrument similar to the
flute. Another musical form in the Ibo culture is highlife, which

Ten Reasons to Outsource Digital Marketing to a Third Party
10 reasons to outsource your digital marketing to a third party
The decision to outsource a marketing function such as digital marketing can be both strategic and
tactical. In general, many companies, as a principle, outsource any activity that is not core to their
business. At the tactical level, companies often find themselves short of digital marketing resources
to respond to a rapid pace at which it operates across different platforms.
What s right for your company? Following are general guidelines to help you determine whether to
deploy a third party to manage a complete digital marketing function or specific project, or to keep
it in house.
FACTOR #1: YOU LACK A SPECIFIC EXPERTISE OR HUMAN RESOURCES
Effective digital marketing departments require a wide range of expertise. A typical group may
include media strategists, media analysts, auditors, creatives, brand managers, advertising
specialists, copywriters and graphic designers.
Let s face it: in general, most companies do not have enough people allocated to digital marketing
department. So specialised outside help is often required.
FACTOR #2: YOU LACK A SPECIFIC TECHNOLOGY
Companies are notoriously technology deprived on the digital marketing side of things. While this
situation is being somewhat remedied by the increasing use and availability of automation tools, the
digital marketing department is, many times, at the bottom of the IT department s priority list.

King Tut s Death Research Paper
King Tutankhamun s death is believed to be of the the most fascinating mysteries in ancient Egypt.
In an attempt to find an answer, plenty of different theories were created to explain how he died. It
is however, believed that his death was caused by leg infection. Some popular theories include
murder (by Ay and Horemheb) and as mentioned, leg infection. The question is, how did King
Tutankhamundie?
Ay was known as King Tut s grand uncle and grandfather and was believed to have murdered King
Tut out of greed. After King Tut s death, he became pharaoh for a few years. Before King Tut
became Pharaoh, Egyptian paintings and hieroglyphs showed Ay held many titles (Acting
Scribe of the King, God s Father, Chief of Archers, etc.) which indicates he was trusted and
respected by him. He was also his close adviser which meant he made most of his decisions for
him along with Horemheb. This murder theory started when a famous Egyptologist (Bob Brier)
discovered a crack in King Tut s skull. This evidence suggests that someone hit him over the head
with a hard object and cracked his skull. Many believe this could only have been done by someone
who had direct access ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further evidence suggests that Ay attempted to marry Ankhesenamun (who was already King Tut s
wife) to become pharaoh. This theory was devised when an Egyptologist found a ring in Cairo. The

Conserving Water For The Future
Conserving Water for the Future Agriculture must mediate between nature and human community,
with ties and obligations in both directions. To farm well requires an elaborate courtesy toward all
creatures, animate and inanimate (Wendell Berry). Farming is a delicate balance between
producing the most possible from the land without destroying the land. In order for farming to be
sustainable more has to be grown with less. Water conservation can be addressed in developing
countries by simply embracing modern farming methods. In developed countries more money will
have to be invested into water saving irrigationmethods. There was a time when you didn t shut
the water off when you brushed your teeth and now it is habit to shut the water off to save that
little bit of water. The same spirit will have to implemented in farming simple methods can be
used to save water. In order for farming to be sustainable in an ever changing world, more time
and effort needs to be dedicated to water conservation because the population is growing, water is
a finite resource, and using less water allows farmers to irrigate more land with the same amount of
water.
Farmers across the world will have to embrace modern irrigation techniques. Africa is a prime
example of a continent heavily invested in water conservation. In a continent where 23.2% of its
inhabitants are starving they still have farms without irrigation (World Hunger). Well it would
require significant changes switching

The Problem Of High School
High School is one of the most prominent time in one s life. During this time, one is taught to be
financially literate, how to use grammar and punctuations wisely, be mathematically inclined and
aware of different sciences. Notice how I excluded history, but there is a reason for this. History is
often manipulated and told by those who are comfortable telling fabricated stories made up by the
white man. This causes for students, especially African Americans have a false interpretation of
their history and come to college relatively unprepared. ADW and its concepts go into the root of
history without giving out false conceptions, however, it is very unfortunate that it is not taught
until one s young adult years because that is when distorted information is already drilled into their
brain. ADW concepts being taught in high schoolsuch as issues of identity; the intersection of race,
gender, and social class; displacement, and conditions of servitude could only lead to the
enrichment of the inquiring minds of this generation, allow them to see relatable circumstances,
and help diminish their ignorance of African history.
Throughout the years, we often deal with different measures of judgment and marginalizing. When
a person has the mentality that they are in fact more supreme than the other regardless of what it is,
it is something that is taught at home. The person who s the victim of inferiority, has the power to
teach the oppressor, but use only factual statements and

Implementation. The Solution That Is Chosen Is Telehealth
Implementation The solution that is chosen is telehealth; types of technology that will be used
will need to be considered. The forms of technology that will be used with the telehealth program
are video conferencing, digital scales, a remote monitoring devices like a biosensor, blood
pressure monitors, automated medication dispensers, and a smart phone (Nelson Stagger, 2014).
An important aspect to remember is how these forms of technology can be used to help increase
access to care. These types of technology can prevent un needed trips to the doctor or ED, as well
as increasing access to the provider. For telehealth to be as effective there is a lot that a healthcare
organization and provider would have to go through. There are special... Show more content on

This can be a lengthy and costly process; there are currently discussions about mutual recognition
for APNs like there are for RNs in compact states (Nelson Staggers, 2014). As with any other
changes at the organizational level there must be new information and regulations about what
patients are appropriate for telehealth program; this information will be sent out via the
organization education website or procedure manual. This policy and procedure will need to
have a signature to verify that all employees have addressed it. One policy that may need to be
updated or reviewed would be the HIPPA policy for the organization. Some of the hesitancy with
implementing telehealth into practice is privacy, so when implementing the telehealth program
staff will be re educated on HIPPA (The Compliance Ethics Blog, 2016). With the education
provided the organization will avoid any HIPPA violation fines. Conclusion Rural areas need
improved access to care. While all the solutions discussed, would be great solutions and would be
able to help with increased access to care it is important to have one solution that is here to stay.
With funding being a concern in many areas of government; healthcare should not depend solely
on more funding. While transportation is a valid option to help in resolving the rural healthcare
situation it has many pitfalls as well (Cronk, 2015). As we all know weather can cause havoc with

Star Trek Future
The Future Is Not Far Beyond Our Potential When thinking of science fiction stories and films,
their concepts and ideals seem far out of our own world. The beauty of science fiction films is
the ability of them to take the audience to a different world to excite the feelings of awe and
wonder, making us leave the realism and probable behind. These alterations from ordinary life and
reality may take away from authenticity, but science fiction can prove to resemble more of our
society when analyzing the societies and advancements created in these films. All the sights,
sounds, characters and narrative details in Star Trek(2009) portray a conservative and liberal

Looking first at Star Trek, the main female character throughout the movie is Nyota Uhura. She
is only seen in few scenes in the exposition of the movie and onboard the U.S.S Enterprise, but
she is not given any characterization, backstory, or even a clear duty as a crew member. While
every character is given a few seconds to either say or show their importance to the spaceship,
Uhura is given the smallest description of her role, if there really is a clear one given. Her main
scenes in the movie and role are being Spock s girlfriend, comforting him in the elevator, kissing
him goodbye as he leaves for a mission, and speechlessly gazing at him with love or concern
while the men define the action the crew will take, showing how far away this female character
matters to the plot (Tudor and Meehan 132). Looking at another female character, Gaila is given
the same treatment as Uhura in filling a non progressive role in society. Gaila is seen in her main
scene as a sexy female involved with Kirk with the coincidence run into Uhura once again. Gaila
falls into the minimal role of a sexual distraction to the main character that ends up depicting
women to an unimportant role in developing the story. These women and other female characters
that appear in the movie mostly occupy traditional narrative roles: mother, sexual partner, and
girlfriend, giving them supportive roles and ultimately sticking to the conservative story where
men are the heroes and women are there to support the men on their quest (Tudor and Meehan
132). Women depicted in this futuristic movie are not given the development and opportunity to
break stereotypes of society and are left to fit in the shadows of prominent male leaders as seen in a
majority of prior

Essay on The Great Gig in the Sky
At a late Thursday night, I have received word that I would perform in a fancy ball room. With
only two weeks of experience I had a gig in front of a hundred people. Like many first gigs, the
stage plays tricks on you and makes you feel inferior. Stage fright had to go away at some point,
so I decided for it to be this Saturday night. Countless of hours put into this one night, I would
practice day in and day out. There was something for me to prove. You don t have to be naturally
talented and experienced to become successful or to perform at a high level. All it takes is a little
self confidence and hard work. Is two weeks enough for a musician to pick up an instrument and
perform? A sunny day in Houston, Texas. Just this morning I have... Show more content on

My heart quickly accelerated and continued to run for its life. I looked at my hands which were
beginning to moisture. The thought of performing with little experience struck me down. I was
a nervous wreck and I knew that within the next five minutes. I will give it my all or die trying. I
patiently waited to be called. A loud thumping noise is heard as I head over to the door and open
the door. It was my father. There is no need to feel nervous. You worked so hard and pushed
yourself to prove a point. Although that may be true, you worked so hard not only for success
but also for the enjoyment of performing. My dad had turned his back on me and faded away. I
stood still thinking about what he has told me. There was a better reason to why I stood up so
late and practiced so much. From the beginning, playing an instrument was a wonderful
experience. With a confident look and a brighter self esteem. I was ready to rock n roll! I
treasured the moment. I put on my shades and walked across the hall with a determined look. I
made my way backstage and was suddenly called to the stage. The spotlight was brighter than the
suns ray. I foolishly put my shades back on and take a look around me. Complete silence was
around me. Such a quiet, yet eerie atmosphere. Eyes across the stage followed me like a homing
missile. I strum a chord and begin playing. A rough start was quickly changed whenever the music
began progressing. After all, all that practice made me

Disadvantages Of Uber Technology
Uber is a transportation network application developed by the company Uber Technologies Inc.
Launched in 2011, Uber is currently available to over sixty countries, including the Philippines.
This transportation service has proved to be a convenient and innovative way of getting from point
A to point B. Maintaining a 4.5 star rating on the Apple App Storeand a 4 star rating Google Play
Store, it is obvious that the public s reception of Uber is positive. As for myself, a college student

around the city.
Of course, a vital role played in all transportation services is the vehicle operator or the driver. Uber

Andrew said that GrabTaxi drivers can refuse to take a passenger which would only cause
inconvenience, unlike Uber wherein the drivers cannot turn down a passenger. He also added that
the vehicles for Uber needed to at least be the 2013 model or newer so that ensures comfort for
both the driver and the passenger. Another advantage that Uber has over GrabTaxi, according to
Andrew, is that the mode of payment is credit card and not cash. Because of this mode of
payment, the drivers need not worry about giving change, nor do the passengers need to
consider if the amount of money they are carrying is enough to pay for the trip. Andrew also
added that Uber is safer than GrabTaxi for both the driver and the rider for they both learn a few
details about each other before the ride starts, and at the end of a trip, the passenger and the
driver rate each other through the app which serves as feedback which will be seen by the next
driver/passenger. I expected the answers he gave since the reasons he enumerated are also the same
reasons I use Uber instead of GrabTaxi. Basically, Uber is easier to use, safer, and more

Abstract
Small circular pieces of DNA molecules located inside the nucleoid in bacterial species
(prokaryotes) are known
as Plasmids.Plasmids do not dictate the survival of the host bacteria, but it can give rise to certain

forming into its own small colonies. No growth is also a possible outcome.
The experiment contained a total of six different petri dishes, each containing different treatments to
the E. coli.
The first petri dish held ampicillin resistance gene, luria broth and E. Coli. This served as a positive
control since there
was basically nothing to stop the E. Coli from growing. The petri dish containing E.Coli, Luria
Broth and ampicillin
with no plasmids provided us with the opposite results. There was no growth. Since there were no
plasmids in the dish
all the E. Coli died hence showing no growth.
In general E. Coli growth was directly proportional to the presence of ampicillin. If it so happens
there was
ampicillin in a petri dish with either the lux or ampicillin resistance gene, the result would depict a
colonial growth.
This is because the ampicillin and plasmid attack one another hence some die and the others live.
On the other hand if
there no ampicillin presents the petri dish would depict a lawn growth, because there is no
ampicillin there to replicate.
Introduction
We began the experiment by adding plasmids, a vector, to the bacteria E. Coli to see the E. Coli
growth with the plasmids in its DNA. Our results will conclude for us the correlation between the
transformation of a plasmid and the growth of E. Coli. The process of

Don Pio Pico
Don Pio Pico, a renowned figure of early Mexican/American culture, was known for his exquisite
fashion sense, intelligence and leadership, whose family experience with early California

father isn t just a symbol of his leadership, as he moves from a man of wealth and taste to an
inspirational political force, whose father becomes a symbol of his political rise in defining his own
identity.
Nonetheless, I found the Pico mansion to be quaint, surrounded by growing grapes and many
other native plants, like rosemary, agave, and lavender, along with pillars and skilled crafted
objects by the family, perhaps, directly tied to their Mexican, Spanish, African and Italian roots.
The Adobe is built of thousands of earthen blocks. The fact that most of the walls are original is a

Hymns to the Sun and Lieden’s Hymns Essay
Hymns to the Sun and Lieden s Hymns
The ancient Egyptians showed respect toward their rulers, but it was the sun gods whom they
revered. Even Pharaoh Akhenaten wrote hymns of praise and glory to his Creator. All aspects of
the Egyptians lives, including work, play, love and war, were devoted to the gods. No matter how
much land was won, or how many riches were acquired, it was the deities that were valued the most.
Many peoples throughout time devote prayer and sacrifices to the ones they believe created them.
The Egyptians were no exception, praising their gods for the awesomeness and purity of the life

It was the sun that shone down upon lovers, worshippers, scholars and warriors. Sunlight brought
life to nature: to the trees, the flowers, and the grassy fields. Without the sun, the Egyptians would
not have been able to maintain the agriculture around which their society was centered. Everything
followed the sun, for when the sun retired at the end of the day; so did the rest of the world.
Therefore, it was only appropriate to give praise to the gods of light. Without them, the Egyptian
culture would not have existed.
Similar to the Roman Catholic religion existing today, the Egyptian Hymns follow the four basic
categories of prayer: gather, praise, thanksgiving, and petition. Akhenatens hymn was written of
course by Pharaoh Akhenaten himself, and this in turn would bring together all people under his
rule. For when the ruler makes a decree, everyone listens. The hymns were written with
tremendous praise to the Creator, standing in awe of His power and glory: You are the one God, /
shining forth from your possible incarnations / as Aten, the Living Sun, / Revealed like a king in
glory, risen in light, / now distant, now bending

Southwest Airlines External Analysis
Executive Summary:
Southwest Airlines has been making changes over the past few years that helped them become the
largest low cost carrier in the United States. Most other airlines have been struggling to make it
through this economy, but Southwest has found a way to thrive. The airline has dropped their
prices and eliminated fees for extras that have allowed them to fill up most flights. One cost they
continue to struggle with is offsetting the increasing fuel prices. This has caused some airlines to
merge or sell the company to competitors.

With the gas prices rising up every year, it seems like traveling by car is about the same price as
flying. The big advantage over bus, car, and train is saving time which is huge to customers who
cannot leave their job for a long period of time without being fired or replaced.
Bargaining Power of Suppliers (medium) As I stated before, Southwest Airlineemployees are the
highest paid in the industry. The only employees who do not have unions backing them up and can
request more money are pilots. This is because there are so many of them awaiting jobs. Another
area Southwest has no power over are airplane manufacturers. Companies like Airbus and Boeing
can pretty much charge whatever they want because of the experience and technological advances
they bring to large aircraft development. Since there are a couple of suppliers, most of these
manufacturers know if the deal is not attractive, then the airline will take their business elsewhere.
Bargaining Power of Customers (high) Customers has several options when it comes to flying. But
the main attraction to customers are low prices and Southwest makes it known that they have
some of the lowest airfares. The only way Southwest can take back the power is by offering direct
flights to cities that other airliners do not offer. Besides the small occurrence of having a direct
flight to a city that no other airline has, Southwest

Thor as Portrayed in the Kenneth Branagh Movie
In this paper, I will talk about Thor as portrayed in the movie directed by Kenneth Branagh as he
may be depicted differently in other sources. Thor is the god of thunder and son of Odin, ruler of
Asgard in Norse mythology. A powerful God that was next in line for the throne of Asgard. Thor
had the power of thunder and was able to control its power with his hammer, which also allows him
to fly. Comparing Thorto Jesus, both are powerful beings. Asgard and Heaven are very similar as
it is where the Gods/God live. With great power both Thor and Jesus conquered things in their
own way. Jesus conquered sin, not by using his fists to fight Satan, but instead he was crucified
to stop Satan controls over the people. Where in Soteriology 1 payment for sin. Jesus conquered
sin by offering his body, the body of god, to repent for the people of the world s sin. Unlike
Jesus, Thor s course of action is not non violence. He comes from Asgard, a world where war was
heavily prevalent, which was the reason Thor was banished to earth. He conquered his enemies
through his hands. Though both are godly and had similar intentions Thor s course of action for his
mission was different from Jesus according to course text.
Thor is a savior figure because he saves humanity from God s themselves specifically his brother
Loki, who betrayed his family while he was banished by their father Odin. In this film Thor is your

Essay Questions on the Breakfast Club
Question #1, Option b Roles are like parts we play in life, each with a set of expectations specific
to that position (rules). In The Breakfast Club, Mr. Vernon has the role of the Principle. Naturally
this means his rules include both the explicit (written out and specifically defined) ones such as
managing the school s staff, and creating and carrying out policies and procedures, and the implicit
(implied) ones such as trying to guide his students down the right path and leading by example by

In the closet the wounded look on his face when Mr. Vernon told him he was basically scum
further strengthened my belief that deep down, he really believes all the things his parents and
the principle think about him. Since it is known that children who are told negative things about
themselves at an early age often come to believe it, and we know from John s outburst and the
cigar burn on his arm that this was likely the case for him, it s not difficult at all to believe that
this was how his low self esteem was developed in the first place. Odds are it was this constant
belittling by them and any negative reinforcement he got from other students and teachers like
Mr. Vernon that helped to solidify these beliefs about himself. John s public self, the one he
projects for others to see, as seen through his interactions and persona as a badass, is just that, the
criminal . His ideal self, the one he really wishes he was, is probably that of the boy who can

The colors used in the painting are complementary with orange, blue and green dominating over the
color pattern.
Surrounding the image of Shantarakshita, who is the central image of what is essentially a
mandala composition, are detailed scenes depicting how the eminent teacher brought the teachings
of the Buddha to Tibet and helped to establish the Himalayan nation s first Buddhist monastery. The
eye remains drawn to Shantarakshita, as the artist intends to praise Shantarakshita as the one who
firmly established Buddhism in the hearts, minds, souls, and daily lives of Tibetans. Portrayed in a
rich color palette containing saturated blues, reds, greens, and oranges, there is no remaining white
space on the canvas. The lowest portion of the composition is more cluttered than the uppermost
portion, serving a symbolic function. The artist contrasts the ordinary world of the human mind and
society with the transcendent world of enlightenment. The blue halo surrounding Shantarakshita
leads the eye up, through a lotus blossom, towards the two figures above him: Shakyamuni Buddha
to the right and Shantarakshita s own teacher to the left ( Historical Narrative: Shantarakshita ).
Although it is permanently on display in a Tibetan temple, the Drowa Sangmo Mural depicts more
of an ordinary scene than the portrait of Shantarakshita. However, it is entirely mundane in Tibetan
society. The Drowa Sangmo

Managing Business Strategy And Growth
MANAGING BUSINESS STRATEGY AND GROWTH
1.0. Introduction
Small business enterprises form special economic component of a given country. As such the
strategies should be put in place to ensure their proliferation and continued generation of profit to
the owners and revenues to the government. Small businesses are also source of employment for
most individuals who are unlucky to be employed by the multibillion corporate and other middle
level companies and organizations. Management strategies are plans that are put in place by either
government or the business owners to ensure that their businesses are being driven towards growth
and enhanced profitability. The strategies put in place are usually well researched and organized in
steps and stages that can easily be followed to ensure the development of the small firm and their
continued existence. This paper will be looking at a small business firm, analyze its intellectual
capital resources and come up with recommendations and proposals that will help to boost the total
growth and profitability of that particular business firm. The paper will look at into the strategic
intents of the business firm, document and designate the intellectual capital resources required by
the business venture in order to grow. The competitive advantage position of the venture will be
analyzed according to the resource based theory and give recommendations that will improve the
chances of the successfulness of the identified small business firm

The Hatchet Character Analysis
If I could change the life of a story character to make it more like Zane s, I would change Brian s
from The Hatchet. I would change his life by putting him in Zane s situation (even though it is
not positive). In The Hatchet, Brian is going on a trip to see his father (who was divorced with
his mother) in the North Canadian woods. He was going in a two seater plane. While in the air,
the pilot had a fatal heart attack. The plane crashed into a lake, with Brian still in it. Brian was
forced to fend for himself in the harsh woods for a couple of months with nothing but a hatchet
(hence the title of the book). When a rescue force finally saved him, he had already suffered a
tornado, getting rammed by a moose, and getting stuck in the leg

King David And Palm 23
Palm 23 is a poem that is rich in history but also carries timeless advice that can and should be
carried into eternity. The poem s narrator is King David who formally served as a humble
shepherd. He references sheeps relationships with their shepherd in order to share wisdom about
following the Lord. Sheep have one job (besides unconsciously growing wool) and that is to follow
their shepherd and this parallels to man s relationship with Godfor he is commanded to follow God
and will be rewarded for his obedience in doing so.
Psalm 23 is a view of a raw talk between David and God. David is the clear narrator and he was
vulnerable with the Lord about his dire need for him in fact throughout the book of Psalm readers
are given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He did not shy away from the hard fact that life is hard and can be brutal beyond words can
express. But he claimed truth and authority over evil by calling out to his shepherd and stating
that he would be alright even during the darkest of times because he knew God would be with
him. Humans today should heed his advice for our world really is dealing with hard things such
as cancer, shootings, accidents etc. just to name a few. Without God s help and presence
mankind does not stand a chance. Also much like a good shepherd knows what his sheep gets
anxious about God knows that about his people today too. He knows what makes each
individual smile, laugh, cry, and shake with terror. But because of His almighty power and love
for the world he promises to restore souls and calm anxious hearts. Man can find comfort
knowing that if Jesus Christ is His Lord and Savior he will go to Heaven and no pain in this word
can compare to what there is to look forward to.
The wisdom that King David shares in Psalm 23 will always be applicable. The world dealt with
the same struggles in Biblical times as people do now just in different forms. David s advice to
follow the Lord as a sheep would follow its shepherd should be taken seriously and intentionally
followed through with. It is impossible to go through life and live it well without following the
one who leads His people to the well spring of

The Importance Of Life In My Life
Life is what you make it
On the ceiling of my father s room wall hung Albert Einstein s frame which had the inscription,
Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. Those words greatly
inspired me as a teenager. Even in the most difficult moments, those words scream in my head not
to give up. I grew up at a time or period in Nigeria when the military junta overthrew the civilian
government. The political environment so tensed that it drove away investors. Consequently, the
political instability created crippled the economy. The only people that benefited from the
military government were their cronies. During this period, the popular middle class disappeared.
The gap between the rich and the poor widened. Food shortage arose because the government
stopped supporting the farmers through subsidies. Thus, it resulted in the inability of the head of
families to provide three square meals for the family. The food scarcity affected my family as well.
There were days I would walk long distances to school without eating. Also, on some days, I
turned my hunger to fasting. I constantly improvised so I would not get discouraged. In all these,
my father kept telling me, My son, this is a phase in life we all have to go through, everything
will be fine. Despite the tough hurdles I had to cross growing up, I succeeded and became a role
model to other teenagers in the neighborhood because of the moral and financial support from my
parents, education

The Creation Story Of Adam And Eve Analysis
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you
were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return . In The Creation Story of Adam and Eve
, those are the words God tells Adam and Eve when they failed to obey God s only rule, not eat
from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Throughout the story we follow their relationship with
God, in the events that began with their creation and ended in their exile. Therefore, in my sole
opinion based on The Creation of Adam and Eve, the story depicts Adamand Eve s relationship with
God and the underlying meaning of their existence and the oedipal conflict that is portrayed. It
suggests that maybe the story is a tale told in order to understand why we exist and our personal
purpose as well as to recognize the effects of the authoritarian commands God expressed to
Adam and Eve. The phrase existence precedes essence as told by Sartre means, we exist first and
then we do things that define ourselves and live our lives in whatever way we choose. This is the
case in, The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , when God created Adam from the dust of the
ground and Eve from one of Adam s ribs. He brought them to life in the Garden of Eden, but it was
up to them to create a purpose to exist. Therefore, Adam and Eve s actions of disobedience were
perhaps a way of God testing humankind by showing them paradise (Garden of Eden) and what
we were to lose if we d disobeyed him. God gave Adam a garden to take care of, animals to name,
and a wife for companionship. And they both got banished from paradise for choosing to have
the freedom of disobeying and as a result they have to be responsible for their actions. For
instance, in the Existentialism Lecture , it says that from an existentialist point of view, We must
choose what to do, where to go, and most importantly, what is meaningful to us and why. With
choice comes two related concepts: freedom and responsibility . Eve s wrongful actions are the
cause of why women to this day have had to fight harder than men to achieve their place in
society. As for Adam, his actions brought men to work for a living, which nothing in life is easy,
and you have to strive for it, it

Securitization Of Housing Bets
Mortgage backed securities were bonds that were secured by home and other real estate loans. They
were created when a number of these loans, usually with similar characteristics, were pooled
together. As part of the housing and credit booms, the amount of financial agreements called
mortgage backed securities, which derive their value from mortgagepayments and housing prices,
greatly increased (Subprime mortgage crisis). Pools of loans were sold to federal government
agencies like Ginnie Mae or a government sponsored enterprise such as Fannie Mae or Freddie
Mac. Securitization was the process of taking an illiquid asset, or group of assets, and through
financial engineering, transforming them into a security. A typical example of securitization... Show

The worst of the mortgages were packaged and tranche into bonds and got rated AAA by these
credit rating agencies. By erroneously rating these bundles of mortgage backed security payments
too highly, the credit rating agencies substantially contributed to the creation of toxic financial
assets. The problem was each agency were competing for the banks revenue, to keep the banks
business the agencies would always rate their bonds the highest possible grade of AAA.
Executives at Fannie Mae packaged both conventional and sub prime loans, while operating almost
free of government oversight. Fannie s leaders spent lavishly to hire sixty Washington lobbyists
who showered congressmen with campaign funds. Executives at Fannie were generous to the
politicians because they wanted to ward off regulation (Toplin). Adding another layer to this
financial disaster happened when the Treasury bill rate went so low investors had to find other
ways to yield a profit, and with little oversight, executives certainly had no problem introducing
creative financing to main street America.

Why We Should Introduce Australia
Principal, teachers, parents and friends welcome. Thank you for this opportunity to speak to you
today.
Are you all aware that there are over 7000 languages spoken in the world today? In recent years,
Australian schools located in metropolitan area were just starting to introduce languages classes
other than English, such as French, Chinese or Indonesia. So that student could choose any other
languages that offer, as their second language. Compares to China, English are compulsory

Essay On Concealed Carry Permits
Concealed Carry Permits in The United States
In most recent years one of the biggest political arguments has been about firearms. When talking
about firearms, both sides can get very into the disagreement and emotional on the subject. With the
increasing amounts of mass shootings, this topic has been in mainstream media and talked about
largely for the better half of the last six years. When it comes to the argument the Democratic party
stands on stronger gun laws that will lead to more regulations and less gun sales, while the
Republican party leans the other way with less regulation and more legal gun owners. The
democrats say that the less guns on the street, the less gun violent related crimes. On the other hand

Many feared the laws that could have been put in place. In eleven states at least 10 percent of the
adults possess carry permits (French). The total in the last two years has also taken a large jump
from 12.8 million to 16.36 million Americans with carry permits. This number is also not 100%
accurate considering the fact that 14 states have passed laws stating that you do not need a permit
to carry a firearm. This will increase the total number of Americans carrying firearms, but there is
no way of telling because there is not an official listing. With the increase in concealed carry
permits, there has also been a large increase in firearm sales. From 2008 to 2011, there were
about 14 million firearms sold in the United States, while over 20 million were sold between
2012 and 2013, and about a quarter were sold to first time buyers (Howell). With the number of
first time buyers on the rise it shows that the United States is leaning towards a more right look at
firearms. A 2000 Gallup Poll found that 35 percent of Americans thought that owning a gun made
their home safer. By 2014 that number soared to 63 percent (Howell). This goes hand and hand
with the increase of firearm sales and concealed carry permits. The change when a person starts

Ge Case Analysis
, Case #1: the turbine generator industry
The default prediction that we d make using economic theory (or common sense) in the absence of
game theory is that, in the turbine generator case, General Electric should have undercut
Westinghouse because the former has lower costs.
But we start to see why it didn t when we introduce capacity constraints into the Bertrand model.
Capacity constraints can stem from two things: decreasing returns to scale, or demand uncertainties
that create expected inventory cost risks and induce firms to produce to order and carry backlogs.
The second condition certainly prevails in the turbine generator case.
Anti trust regulators observed that both GE and Westinghouse were pricing higher than... Show

Empirical data suggests successful signaling between the firms in the Cournot aspect of their game
also.
Attempts by government to discourage tacit collusion in industries like this one are worse than silly.
They harm businesses and consumers, bring in no extra public revenue, and may actually create
monopolies instead of discouraging them! Such perverse competition policies are nevertheless in
place in both the European Union and South Africa.
In the United States, firms can be investigated for collusion by the anti trust authority only if there
is physical evidence of communication about pricing strategies between competing firms. In the EU
and SA, by contrast, competition authorities can investigate merely because they observe that
industry prices aren t at competitive equilibrium.
So what is supposed to happen, under the latter regime, when competitive equilibrium and Nash
equilibrium don t coincide? This implies that at least one firm must sacrifice some profits to deter
the authority from investigating. It would be inefficient if all firms in the industry so sacrificed at
all times. For maximum industry profits, one firm at a time should price away from equilibrium
and be compensated by the others. Thus we have it that as a result of (badly theorized) competition
policy policy explicitly designed to deter collusion we get incentives to

Concussions In Sports

Since the beginning of professional sports, one of the most controversial topics has been head
Injuries and even more specifically, concussions. A concussion is an injury to the brain or spinal

blow, etc.; the act of violently shaking or jarring. (dictionary.com) although people do not think
so, these injuries have a lasting effect that could change life dramatically down the road. Should

One of the major concerns of education is the rate of students who are dropping out of school.

percent in 2003, according to the National Center for Education Statistics, which rated 16 24 year

A concern of the statistical data of high school dropouts is the disparaging number of minority
students who drop out of high school in comparison to whites and Asians. A 1993 research by John
Hopkins University flagged 2,000 high schools across the country as potential dropout factories
because 40 percent or more of their freshmen fail to make it to 12th grade on time (Viadero,
2004). These schools are in medium and bigger size cities and have a significant black and
Latino student population. Florida is the one exception, where many of the failing students are
rural white. In 2003, it was estimated that 6 percent of whites, in comparison to 12 percent of
blacks had dropped out of school (Child Trend, 2003). The primary reason appears that these
school districts have a variety of disadvantages, such as resources and money to improve schools
and programs. These schools are located in lower socio economic communities. However, these
disadvantaged students are judged on the same achievement standards as students who live in
higher economic districts with better resources and tools. Latin Americans constitute the highest
percentage of high school dropouts. 24 percent of Latin Americans dropped out of school in 2003
(Child Trends, 2003). This is a significant number because there are just as many Latin Americans
dropping out of school as whites. Yet, Latin Americans represent slightly above 15 percent of the

The Equine Digestion System

The digestion system of a horse has a complex and marvelous design. It is also a delicate process.
The horse digests food in an efficient manner, but the system can be upset very easily if the animal
does not eat properly. Because of its delicate design, the system must be given the proper types of
feed to prevent illness. From mouth to manure, digestion breaks a horse s food down into the
nutrients necessary to sustain life. The process of digestion begins at the mouth. Horses have very
mobile lips with which they grasp their feed. Food goes from the lips to the teeth. Male horses

from being able to vomit or breathe from their mouths. The esophagus is a 5 foot long tube filled
with muscles that squeezes the food down to the stomach. The wave motion that transports the
food only moves down, which is another reason that the food cannot come back up. The horse s
stomach is very small in comparison to the rest of the system, making up about 10% of it. Food
can pass through in as little as 15 minutes. The three main areas of the stomach are the saccus
caecus (sack us seek us), fundic, and pyloric regions. The esophagus dumps the food into the
saccus caecus region, where it is mixed with hydrochloric acid, which slows the fermentation
process. If the food ferments, it creates gas, and horses have very few ways to get rid of gas. In the
fundic region, the fermentation decreases even further and the food mixes with pepsin and stomach
acid, which begin the digestion of proteins and fats. In the pyloric region, protein digestion
increases and fermentation stops almost

Penokee Hills In Northern Wisconsin
Wisconsin has a long tradition of being at the forefront of environmental protection. From having
pristine national forests, clear water, and tough environmental regulations to keep our forests
pristine and water clear. Now, in the 21st Century, Wisconsin is losing that right due to Wisconsin
Governor Scott Walker. Walker is a big proponent for a mine in the Penokee Hills. The Penokee
Hills are located in Northern Wisconsin, in Iron County, just south of the Bad River Band of Lake
SuperiorOjibwe Reservation. This mine would have been an iron mine, one of the world s largest
open pit mine. The problem with this mine is it would have destroyed most of the Penokee Hills,
the environment around it, and polluted everything around it, including... Show more content on

One consequence on the environment would have been from the pollutants the mine would have
given off. One of these pollutants would be Mercury. In the process of getting iron ore from taconite
pellets, which is what is mined, the taconite must be heated up, one element that is given off
during the heating process is Mercury (WI DNR, 2003, 22 25). When Mercury is in it s gaseous
form, it enters the water cycle and helps form acid rain (WI DNR, 2003). When the acid rain is
released as precipitation, it enters the waterways and pollutes the waters. In the case of Northern
Wisconsin, this acid rain would help pollute the Bad River Watershed, one of the biggest
tributaries of Lake Superior, which would be polluted from the Mercury. Pollution of Lake
Superior would be devastating. Lake Superior is the world s largest freshwater lake and it s water
flows through the Great Lakes, down the St. Lawrence River, and into the Atlantic Ocean, all of
which would be polluted. Also, Lake Superior is a huge source of drinking water for a huge portion
of cities located right on the lake including Ashland and Superior in Wisconsin, Duluth and Cloquet
in Minnesota, Sault St. Marie and Marquette in Minnesota, and Thunder Bay in Canada just to
name a few (Lake by Lake, 2003). Another major pollutant is Sulfate. Sulfate is one of the major
parts of taconite mine runoff. Sulfate does the same as Mercury except it is mixed in the water
right away instead of being in acid rain, though it is a component to acid rain (WI DNR, 2013,
iv). Sulfate directly ran off into watersheds creates more problems than if it were just in acid
rain. In the Bad River Watershed, wild rice is a prominent crop grown in the water for the
Ojibwe. That runoff can form Sulfide, and it has been shown in Minnesota to be toxic to wild
rice, helping destroy a means of income for so many people ( Wild Rice Sulfate, 2014, 5 6).

Narrative Essay On Coptic Americans
As we pulled into 145 Oak Street, Natick, MA on Christmas Eve 2011, instead of being greeted
by fellow church parishioners, we were greeted by armored soldiers equipped with M4 Carbine
assault rifles. Instead of Honda Odysseys and Ford Focuses filling the adjacent parking lot, a
giant tank loomed over the empty spots. I was only twelve and was very confused. I had never
experienced such trouble simply going to church any other Sunday. What made this time so
different? Now, flashback almost two weeks. Since the Coptic calendar is arranged to celebrate
Christmas on January 7, this would be around the time of Western Christmas. Tensions in Egypt
were on the rise, and the Coptic community could sense that something was going to happen.
Unfortunately, something did. On New Year s Eve 2011, twenty three Coptic Orthodox Christians
were killed in an attack on a church in Alexandria and a hundred more were injured. Despite the
attack taking place over five thousand miles away, I felt that they were not only... Show more

Years of persecution have seen babies snatched from their mothers and churches burned to the
ground before the eyes of those who worshiped there just last Sunday. Yet the Coptic community
remains united and stronger than ever. I never truly realized the potential power of this strength
until I witnessed it first hand. In an effort to learn more about my Coptic origins, I set out on my
own personal journey. When I went to Egypt this past summer, I found the stories of the Coptic
people painted on the walls of the ancient churches. These walls had been scratched, shot at, burned,
and defaced throughout years of Christian persecution, but they still stood tall. These murals have
survived the test of time because they hold the stories of those whose strength transcended the
body. Their stories, passed on from one generation to the next, are, in essence, written in

Convertible Bond Funds invest in bonds that can be converted into preferred or common stock.
The benefit is that if an issuing company performs well after the issuance of the convertibles, the
fund will be able to gain by converting the bonds into the now more valuable stock.
Advantages to Issuing Companies
Lower interest rate on its debt The fund is, in effect, substituting the certain stream on interest
payments for the uncertainty of the growth prospects for the uncertainty of the growth prospects of
company that issues the bonds.
They represent potential common stock This future common stock feature may be desirable for a
firm that currently needs equity capital for an investment but does not want to issue common stock
immediately because of the potential dilution before the investment begins generating earnings.
Advantages to Investors
They provide the upside potential of common stock and the downside protection of a bond The
upside potential occurs because convertible bonds contain an option to buy stock by simply
surrendering the bond. If the stock price increases, the convertible bonds gain in value due to the
increase in value of the stock into which it can be converted. The downside protection occurs
because, irrespective of what happens to the stock, the price fo the bond will not decline below
what it would be worth as a straight bond.
Corporate Bond Funds

The Myth About Hephaestus
The myth about Hephaestus had many connections which relate to real life and society. The
connection I made while reading the myth were that looks do not matter, everyone has a talent and
hard work. Hera gave up her son, Hephaestus because he looked ugly and deformed without
knowing his personality. This took place during the Unusual Birth part of the hero cycle. Herahad
seen how her son looked deformed so she threw him into the sea where a Sea God caught him and
took care of him. In real life many people judge each other by how they look without actually
getting to know them. Hephaestus was just born and Hera had no idea about his talents in
Blacksmith and metal work. The second connection I made was that everyone has a talent or

The Lucky One
I chose to read The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks as my contemporary novel. I have read it
before and I have seen the movie and i loved them both. I was really glad to finally read
something i enjoyed and have to write a paper on it. In the following paragraphs i summarize
both the book and the movie, talk about differences and similarities between the book and the
movie, and finally i discuss how i felt about the book and the movie and which i prefer. The
following is a summary of the book. It is about a man named Logan, a Marine serving in Iraq,
who comes across a photograph in the desert. The photograph is of a woman at a fair with a
huge ferris wheel and three trees in the background and on the back it says, Keep safe! E .
Logan s best friend, Victor, a fellow Marine, says that he was meant to find that photograph and
that it brings him good luck, after Logan tries to find out who is belongs to with no luck and
after Logan survives many explosions while having the photo with him. So when Logan returns
home, he sets out to find the woman, at Victor s suggestion. All he has is a letter of her name
and the background of the photo to go off of. After doing some research he finally narrows it
down to a town in North Carolina. He heads out with his dog, a german shepard named Zeus, on
foot across the country, traveling from Colorado to North Carolina. While traveling, he runs into a
cop named Keith, who he later finds out is the ex husband of the girl in the picture. Logan

Reflection Paper
The Recent Engagement of Contemporary Islamic Thought with Modernity in the West
Modernization theory has been one of the master theoretical narratives to understand the major
institutional and cultural transformation from traditional societies to modern ones. It was
developed by the founders of sociology and has dominated the widespread understanding and
explanations of many social differentiation processes including rationalization, individualization,
urbanization, and secularization for several decades. Thus, sociologists believed that the
consequences of modernization were unavoidable route and common destinations and patters for
modern or all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They suggest that we should re systematize and correct the classical theory of modernization in the
light of multiple modernities frameworks because multiple modernities do not assume that global
modernity is derived from the West as a single pattern (source) and describe the possibility of a
plural modernity experiences. In fact, there are many modernities, not only one single patter of
modernization. These developments forced sociologists for a paradigm shift in the dominant one
side understanding of western modernity.
In this context, Islam and the discourse of western Muslim intellectuals have gradually gained
visibility and significance through the continuing migration and the growth of new generations in
the western societies. Western Islam also has emerged in the hearth of modernity; yet did not
follow the same patters of classical modernization trends. However, it could not escape the
hegemonic influence of modernity. As a result, western Islam is emerging not only as a response to
the challenges (premises) of modernity, but also through a transformative dialectical engagement
with the ethos of modernity, which gradually pave the path towards the rise of Islamic modernism
(Islamic modernity) in the west. Hence, the multiple modernities thesis serves as a more adequate
theoretical approach than the prevailing modernization, the secularization perspective or many
other approaches to

Bibliography on Globalization and Health
Globalization and Health Globalization has had a huge effect on health, both positive and
negative. Because of increased mobility due to globalization, health professionals are able to
cross borders with stunning speed in order to deliver care and patients in need of certain
treatments have benefited from the ability to leave their country for care. The Internet makes it
easier to alert the relevant authorities to the outbreak of a disease and to share information on
health issues. However, globalization has had negative effects on health as well. When the
Europeans first traveled and colonized the world, they brought with them terrible diseases,
killing over 90% of the population. The Aztec, Maya, and Inca tribes were the most affected by
these diseases. International travel and globalization has brought many diseases, previously
native to certain countries, all over the world. For example, Chagas Disease, a disease spread by
insects brought over from Mexican immigrants, has infected more than 500,000 citizens of
America. Illegal drug trade, another result of globalization, is also having a negative effect on
health. Another negative effect of globalization is the recognition of medical degrees of less
developed countries by developed countries. Young medical professionals from less developed
countries finish their training in developed nations and tend to stay to develop their careers and
raise their families. This drains less developed countries of needed health care

Summary Of Chivalry In The Film Excalibur
How respectful, strong and loyal are knights? People characterize knights as these three elements,
but did they actually possess these traits? Respect, strength, and loyalty are defined by the term
chivalry, in which only the noblest of knights showed. In the film Excalibur it informs watchers the
life of the great King Arthur. Arthur was one of the strongest, most honest, and bravest of all the
knights in the film. His life was a roller coaster, unknowing that the family he grew up with wasn t
really his. He became a squire who trained to become a knight and stumbled across the Excaliburin
which was stuck in a stone implanted by his father. Right as Arthur pulled the sword from the stone
he became the king. Furthermore, the film discusses major events that took place in his life.
Excalibur shows chivalry at the scenes of the round table, knights finding holy grailfor king, and the
battle against Mordred.
The film first illustrates chivalry by a scene where knights sit around a round table. The type of
chivalry that this scene shows is respect. Arthur built a castle for himself and the kingdom, in
which he placed this table in the center of the castle by itself. Most tables that leaders sit at are
rectangular, in which they sit on the ends, representing that they have the most power amongst the
people. However, Arthur uses a round table to speak to his men. He does this because he respects
their opinion and wants each of the men, including himself, to have an equal amount

Ten Reasons to Outsource Digital Marketing to a Third Party 10 reasons to outsource your digital marketing to a third party The decision to outsource a marketing function such as digital marketing can be both strategic and tactical. In general, many companies, as a principle, outsource any activity that is not core to their business. At the tactical level, companies often find themselves short of digital marketing resources to respond to a rapid pace at which it operates across different platforms. What s right for your company? Following are general guidelines to help you determine whether to deploy a third party to manage a complete digital marketing function or specific project, or to keep it in house. FACTOR #1: YOU LACK A SPECIFIC EXPERTISE OR HUMAN RESOURCES Effective digital marketing departments require a wide range of expertise. A typical group may include media strategists, media analysts, auditors, creatives, brand managers, advertising specialists, copywriters and graphic designers. Let s face it: in general, most companies do not have enough people allocated to digital marketing department. So specialised outside help is often required. FACTOR #2: YOU LACK A SPECIFIC TECHNOLOGY Companies are notoriously technology deprived on the digital marketing side of things. While this situation is being somewhat remedied by the increasing use and availability of automation tools, the digital marketing department is, many times, at the bottom of the IT department s priority list. In an attempt to find an answer, plenty of different theories were created to explain how he died. It is however, believed that his death was caused by leg infection. Some popular theories include murder (by Ay and Horemheb) and as mentioned, leg infection. The question is, how did King Tutankhamundie? Ay was known as King Tut s grand uncle and grandfather and was believed to have murdered King Tut out of greed. After King Tut s death, he became pharaoh for a few years. Before King Tut became Pharaoh, Egyptian paintings and hieroglyphs showed Ay held many titles (Acting Scribe of the King, God s Father, Chief of Archers, etc.) which indicates he was trusted and respected by him. He was also his close adviser which meant he made most of his decisions for him along with Horemheb. • 7. Conserving Water For The Future Conserving Water for the Future Agriculture must mediate between nature and human community, with ties and obligations in both directions. To farm well requires an elaborate courtesy toward all creatures, animate and inanimate (Wendell Berry). Farming is a delicate balance between producing the most possible from the land without destroying the land. In order for farming to be sustainable more has to be grown with less. Water conservation can be addressed in developing countries by simply embracing modern farming methods. In developed countries more money will have to be invested into water saving irrigationmethods. There was a time when you didn t shut the water off when you brushed your teeth and now it is habit to shut the water off to save that little bit of water. The same spirit will have to implemented in farming simple methods can be used to save water. In order for farming to be sustainable in an ever changing world, more time and effort needs to be dedicated to water conservation because the population is growing, water is a finite resource, and using less water allows farmers to irrigate more land with the same amount of water. Farmers across the world will have to embrace modern irrigation techniques. Africa is a prime example of a continent heavily invested in water conservation. During this time, one is taught to be financially literate, how to use grammar and punctuations wisely, be mathematically inclined and aware of different sciences. Notice how I excluded history, but there is a reason for this. History is often manipulated and told by those who are comfortable telling fabricated stories made up by the white man. This causes for students, especially African Americans have a false interpretation of their history and come to college relatively unprepared. ADW and its concepts go into the root of history without giving out false conceptions, however, it is very unfortunate that it is not taught until one s young adult years because that is when distorted information is already drilled into their brain. ADW concepts being taught in high schoolsuch as issues of identity; the intersection of race, gender, and social class; displacement, and conditions of servitude could only lead to the enrichment of the inquiring minds of this generation, allow them to see relatable circumstances, and help diminish their ignorance of African history. Throughout the years, we often deal with different measures of judgment and marginalizing. Another advantage that Uber has over GrabTaxi, according to Andrew, is that the mode of payment is credit card and not cash. Because of this mode of payment, the drivers need not worry about giving change, nor do the passengers need to consider if the amount of money they are carrying is enough to pay for the trip. • 25. King David And Palm 23 Palm 23 is a poem that is rich in history but also carries timeless advice that can and should be carried into eternity. The poem s narrator is King David who formally served as a humble shepherd. He references sheeps relationships with their shepherd in order to share wisdom about following the Lord. Sheep have one job (besides unconsciously growing wool) and that is to follow their shepherd and this parallels to man s relationship with Godfor he is commanded to follow God and will be rewarded for his obedience in doing so. Psalm 23 is a view of a raw talk between David and God. He did not shy away from the hard fact that life is hard and can be brutal beyond words can express. But he claimed truth and authority over evil by calling out to his shepherd and stating that he would be alright even during the darkest of times because he knew God would be with him. Humans today should heed his advice for our world really is dealing with hard things such as cancer, shootings, accidents etc. just to name a few. Without God s help and presence mankind does not stand a chance. Also much like a good shepherd knows what his sheep gets anxious about God knows that about his people today too. He knows what makes each individual smile, laugh, cry, and shake with terror. But because of His almighty power and love for the world he promises to restore souls and calm anxious hearts. Man can find comfort knowing that if Jesus Christ is His Lord and Savior he will go to Heaven and no pain in this word can compare to what there is to look forward to. The wisdom that King David shares in Psalm 23 will always be applicable. The world dealt with the same struggles in Biblical times as people do now just in different forms. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. Those words greatly inspired me as a teenager. Even in the most difficult moments, those words scream in my head not to give up. I grew up at a time or period in Nigeria when the military junta overthrew the civilian government. The political environment so tensed that it drove away investors. Consequently, the political instability created crippled the economy. The only people that benefited from the military government were their cronies. During this period, the popular middle class disappeared. The gap between the rich and the poor widened. Food shortage arose because the government stopped supporting the farmers through subsidies. Thus, it resulted in the inability of the head of families to provide three square meals for the family. The food scarcity affected my family as well. There were days I would walk long distances to school without eating. Also, on some days, I turned my hunger to fasting. I constantly improvised so I would not get discouraged. In all these, my father kept telling me, My son, this is a phase in life we all have to go through, everything will be fine. • 29. The Creation Story Of Adam And Eve Analysis By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return . In The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , those are the words God tells Adam and Eve when they failed to obey God s only rule, not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Throughout the story we follow their relationship with God, in the events that began with their creation and ended in their exile. Therefore, in my sole opinion based on The Creation of Adam and Eve, the story depicts Adamand Eve s relationship with God and the underlying meaning of their existence and the oedipal conflict that is portrayed. It suggests that maybe the story is a tale told in order to understand why we exist and our personal purpose as well as to recognize the effects of the authoritarian commands God expressed to Adam and Eve. The phrase existence precedes essence as told by Sartre means, we exist first and then we do things that define ourselves and live our lives in whatever way we choose. This is the case in, The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , when God created Adam from the dust of the ground and Eve from one of Adam s ribs. He brought them to life in the Garden of Eden, but it was up to them to create a purpose to exist. Therefore, Adam and Eve s actions of disobedience were perhaps a way of God testing humankind by showing them paradise (Garden of Eden) and what we were to lose if we d disobeyed him. God gave Adam a garden to take care of, animals to name, and a wife for companionship. And they both got banished from paradise for choosing to have the freedom of disobeying and as a result they have to be responsible for their actions. For instance, in the Existentialism Lecture , it says that from an existentialist point of view, We must choose what to do, where to go, and most importantly, what is meaningful to us and why. With choice comes two related concepts: freedom and responsibility . Eve s wrongful actions are the cause of why women to this day have had to fight harder than men to achieve their place in society. As for Adam, his actions brought men to work for a living, which nothing in life is easy, and you have to strive for it, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This number is also not 100% accurate considering the fact that 14 states have passed laws stating that you do not need a permit to carry a firearm. This will increase the total number of Americans carrying firearms, but there is no way of telling because there is not an official listing. With the increase in concealed carry permits, there has also been a large increase in firearm sales. But we start to see why it didn t when we introduce capacity constraints into the Bertrand model. The second condition certainly prevails in the turbine generator case. Anti trust regulators observed that both GE and Westinghouse were pricing higher than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Empirical data suggests successful signaling between the firms in the Cournot aspect of their game also. Attempts by government to discourage tacit collusion in industries like this one are worse than silly. They harm businesses and consumers, bring in no extra public revenue, and may actually create monopolies instead of discouraging them! Such perverse competition policies are nevertheless in place in both the European Union and South Africa. In the United States, firms can be investigated for collusion by the anti trust authority only if there is physical evidence of communication about pricing strategies between competing firms. In the EU and SA, by contrast, competition authorities can investigate merely because they observe that industry prices aren t at competitive equilibrium. So what is supposed to happen, under the latter regime, when competitive equilibrium and Nash equilibrium don t coincide? This implies that at least one firm must sacrifice some profits to deter the authority from investigating. It would be inefficient if all firms in the industry so sacrificed at all times. These schools are in medium and bigger size cities and have a significant black and Latino student population. Florida is the one exception, where many of the failing students are rural white. In 2003, it was estimated that 6 percent of whites, in comparison to 12 percent of blacks had dropped out of school (Child Trend, 2003). Because of its delicate design, the system must be given the proper types of feed to prevent illness. From mouth to manure, digestion breaks a horse s food down into the nutrients necessary to sustain life. The process of digestion begins at the mouth. One consequence on the environment would have been from the pollutants the mine would have given off. One of these pollutants would be Mercury. In the process of getting iron ore from taconite pellets, which is what is mined, the taconite must be heated up, one element that is given off during the heating process is Mercury (WI DNR, 2003, 22 25). When Mercury is in it s gaseous form, it enters the water cycle and helps form acid rain (WI DNR, 2003). When the acid rain is released as precipitation, it enters the waterways and pollutes the waters. In the case of Northern Wisconsin, this acid rain would help pollute the Bad River Watershed, one of the biggest tributaries of Lake Superior, which would be polluted from the Mercury. Pollution of Lake Superior would be devastating. Lake Superior is the world s largest freshwater lake and it s water flows through the Great Lakes, down the St. Lawrence River, and into the Atlantic Ocean, all of which would be polluted. Also, Lake Superior is a huge source of drinking water for a huge portion of cities located right on the lake including Ashland and Superior in Wisconsin, Duluth and Cloquet in Minnesota, Sault St. Marie and Marquette in Minnesota, and Thunder Bay in Canada just to name a few (Lake by Lake, 2003). Another major pollutant is Sulfate. Sulfate is one of the major parts of taconite mine runoff. Sulfate does the same as Mercury except it is mixed in the water right away instead of being in acid rain, though it is a component to acid rain (WI DNR, 2013, iv). Sulfate directly ran off into watersheds creates more problems than if it were just in acid rain. In the Bad River Watershed, wild rice is a prominent crop grown in the water for the Ojibwe. Years of persecution have seen babies snatched from their mothers and churches burned to the ground before the eyes of those who worshiped there just last Sunday. Yet the Coptic community remains united and stronger than ever. I never truly realized the potential power of this strength until I witnessed it first hand. • 48. The Myth About Hephaestus The myth about Hephaestus had many connections which relate to real life and society. The connection I made while reading the myth were that looks do not matter, everyone has a talent and hard work. Hera gave up her son, Hephaestus because he looked ugly and deformed without knowing his personality. This took place during the Unusual Birth part of the hero cycle. Herahad seen how her son looked deformed so she threw him into the sea where a Sea God caught him and took care of him. In real life many people judge each other by how they look without actually getting to know them. Hephaestus was just born and Hera had no idea about his talents in Blacksmith and metal work. They suggest that we should re systematize and correct the classical theory of modernization in the light of multiple modernities frameworks because multiple modernities do not assume that global modernity is derived from the West as a single pattern (source) and describe the possibility of a plural modernity experiences. In fact, there are many modernities, not only one single patter of modernization. These developments forced sociologists for a paradigm shift in the dominant one side understanding of western modernity. In this context, Islam and the discourse of western Muslim intellectuals have gradually gained visibility and significance through the continuing migration and the growth of new generations in the western societies. Western Islam also has emerged in the hearth of modernity; yet did not follow the same patters of classical modernization trends. However, it could not escape the hegemonic influence of modernity. As a result, western Islam is emerging not only as a response to the challenges (premises) of modernity, but also through a transformative dialectical engagement with the ethos of modernity, which gradually pave the path towards the rise of Islamic modernism (Islamic modernity) in the west. Hence, the multiple modernities thesis serves as a more adequate theoretical approach than the prevailing modernization, the secularization perspective or many other approaches to ... Because of increased mobility due to globalization, health professionals are able to cross borders with stunning speed in order to deliver care and patients in need of certain treatments have benefited from the ability to leave their country for care. The Internet makes it easier to alert the relevant authorities to the outbreak of a disease and to share information on health issues. However, globalization has had negative effects on health as well. When the Europeans first traveled and colonized the world, they brought with them terrible diseases, killing over 90% of the population. The Aztec, Maya, and Inca tribes were the most affected by these diseases. International travel and globalization has brought many diseases, previously native to certain countries, all over the world. For example, Chagas Disease, a disease spread by insects brought over from Mexican immigrants, has infected more than 500,000 citizens of America. Illegal drug trade, another result of globalization, is also having a negative effect on health. Another negative effect of globalization is the recognition of medical degrees of less developed countries by developed countries. Young medical professionals from less developed countries finish their training in developed nations and tend to stay to develop their careers and raise their families. This drains less developed countries of needed health care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
