Scout s Journey to Womanhood
As girls grow in life, they mature and change into women. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, by
Harper Lee, Scout, the main character, begins to mature into a woman. In the beginning of the book,
she is a tomboy who cannot wait to pick a fistfight with anyone, but at the end, she lowers her fists
because her father, Atticus, tells her not to fight. Scout s views of womanhood, influenced by how
Aunt Alexandra, Miss Maudie, and Calpurnia act, make her think more about becoming a woman and
less of a tomboy. In the beginning of the book, Scout is a tomboy. She acts, dresses, and walks like a
boy because when she was little her mom died, leaving her in a house with two men, Jem and Atticus.
Scout has a lot of masculine influence but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Miss Maudie is another woman who Scout is around a lot, especially when Jem starts ignoring Scout
and ditching her for football. Miss Maudie changes Scout s perception of womanhood because in the
morning, Miss Maudie is dressed in overalls and men s clothing, but at night, she changes into a dress
and looks gorgeous showing Scout that being a woman does not mean that every hour one has to be in
a dress looking beautiful. Miss Maudie is a role model for Scout. They sit on her porch and talk just
like a mother and daughter, In summertime, twilights are long and peaceful. Often as not, Miss
Maudie and I would sit silently on her porch watching the sky go form yellow to pink as the sun went
down (43). Miss Maudie is there for Scout to lean on and supports her during tough times like at Aunt
Alexandra s tea party. Miss Maudie comforts her when everyone was laughing: Miss Maudie looked
gravely at me. She never laughed unless I meant to be funny (229). Miss Maudie is there for Scout to
hold her hand while the other ladies are subtly making fun of Atticus and saying that he is a disgrace
for defending a Negro. Miss Maudie changes helps Scout change her views on becoming a woman.
Calpurnia, the Finch s nanny, is also a role model throughout the book for Scout, and throughout the
book Scout s perceptions about Calpurnia change. Calpurnia has been with the Finch s for a long time,
but she still is not really part of the family. When she stays overnight,

Dysfunctional Families in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, by Tennessee Williams
Dysfunction and volatility is common amongst families. These families dislike their kin and often
resent them. In the play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, by Tennessee Williams, the Politt family does not
function as a normal family. Brick, Maggie, and Big Daddy are three members of the family that have
the most problems that affect the whole family.
Brick, Maggie s alcoholic husband, is an uncaring man who has no good feelings toward his wife. For
example, when Maggie buys a gift for Brick to give to Big Daddy on his birthday and Maggie wants
Brick to sign the card, he says No... I don t have to do anything I don t want to do (28). Even on Big ...

Maggie feels terribly unloved in her marriage with Brick. Because of her unfulfilling marriage with
Brick, she seeks affection and attention with someone close to Brick. In addition, when Mae interrupts
Maggie and Brick from conversing by talking about her own children and how adorable they are,
Maggie says, why did y give dawgs names to all your kiddies... sounds like four dogs and a parrot
(29). Maggie has a grudge Mae because she has many children with Gooper. Maggie feels insecure
about having children, so she mocks Mae and her offspring to reassure herself and make her self feel
better. Margaret has a dreadful relationship with Brick and also with Mae and her kids.
Big Daddy, an old man with cancer, plays favorites with members of his family and dislikes his wife.
For example, when Big Daddy is talking with Brick, and finds Mae at the door, Big Daddy says, I don
t want you, I want some privacy here... with my son Brick (62). Big Daddy only likes Brick and shows
disgust for everyone else. Even though they are family, Big Daddy acts like they are the scum of the
earth. Furthermore, when Big Mama tries to walk into Big Daddy and Brick s talk, Big Daddy doesn t
let her in and says that all [he] ask[s] of that woman is that she leave [him] alone [and that] she makes
[him] sick (71 2). The woman he vowed to be with forever is now completely repulsive to him. Big

The Importance Of Cross Cultural Relationships
Cross cultural relationship. In addition to cultural difference another aspect that should be considered
is cross cultural relationships. This may sound like an opportunity to get a date, but it is actually a
chance to develop a great relationship with your student in a class setting. Cross cultural relationships
change from country to country so you will have to adjust to the culture and explore more option than
the one s provided for you in this section (Axner, 2016). Bias. It can be difficult to overcome bias and
you cannot eliminate all of them, but it is essential to examine biases and stereo types about the
country and its people before you set out to work there. With a little work and research you can
acknowledge them and overcome any ill perceptions you may have held or had expressed (Junqueira,
Ehab, Mieke, 2015). Intentions. Why are you going? What are you intension? You need to consider
why you are going. No one can answer these questions for you so that job rest with you. Take some
time to consider your motivations. Smile. As we discussed in a previous section introductions will get
you far, but even better is if you can add a smile. A smile is universal and will ease some tension and
apprehension as well. Research. Do your research. We discussed this in a previous sections. The more
you know the better your chances for a successful contract. Use technology you have access to to
gather some insight. No one is expecting you to be an expert and unless

Disadvantages Of Drones
N It is entirely difficult to think about life without technologies and gadget along with the application
and software. Innovation can be characterized as a procedure with the assistance of which people
change nature so as to meet their developing needs. Innovation prompts developments and creations
and one such innovation is gadget. There are such a large number of assortments of technologies that
are intended to suit human needs. Drone is one of the technology in computing industries and become
the most current technologies nowadays. Drones are significant at gathering information and
collecting data, from photos and video to concentrated imagery. Catching photographs and video with
a drone turns into a less complex process each year, with the arrival of well known consumer rambles
like the DJI Phantom 3, which comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are numerous advantages of utilizing drones in farming. Firstly, the owner may increase yields
by finding potentially yield limiting problem and issues in a convenient manner. It will spare much
time by simply scouting their crops using drone that may cover the acres and section on foot or walks.
There is no need for the farmer to physically go throughout the field to observe on their crops
anymore. Using drones, farmers can specifically spray pesticides on plants that need it rather than
spraying whole field Drone can be very complex to set up and operate, but with standards presets its
allow new operators to have confidence in operating from the early. Mostly drones are installed with
Integrated GIS mapping where the drone can be set for a flight pattern to scout around the field
without control it manually. It is easier for the farmer to do other things while the drone is in the air. 3)

Essay on Remember the titans Informal Roles of Characters
Remember The Titans was a movie that was set in a very hostile time in our country. We were in the
middle of what I like to call a civil war. Although there were no battles or gunfights our country was
torn in half. There was an issue dealing with race in the United States. The movie, Remember the
Titans is based on actual events that occurred in the year 1971. Mainly on the integration of a school
called TC Williams High School. When the school was integrated the old football coach, Coach Yoast,
was let go and a black coach Herman Boone was hired on. The main plot of this movie is regarding
the coaching change in the school and the 1971 football season the TC Williams Titans have. nbsp;

Leadership is shown in many ways in the movie and leadership is represented through main
characters. Coach Boone first of all represents the entire black community overcoming the oppression
that they have experienced through all of the years. He exhibits the determination that is inside all of
the players to win the state championship nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Of course the coach is going to
be the team leader but the kids also need a peer to step up and be a leader. In a not so informal role
Gerry Bertier rises to the challenge and establishes himself as the team leader. He shows us this a few
times in the movie. Once when he approaches one of the other players, Julius Campbell, and asks him
why he is playing so selfish. Gerry then listens to his teammate s opinion and acts accordingly to do
what is best for the team, because that is what leaders do, even if it mean calling out his best friend
and making him step it up. Gerry also represents the inspiration of the team because every time the
team is down he picks them up and brings them together. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Another
important role that is established by one of the players is the role of the magnet that finally brings the
black kids and the white kids together. This role is taken on by Louie Lastik. He takes this role when
he s the first one to approach the other black kids and make friends with them. He shows us his role
when he sits down net to the black kids

I Introduction
Performance Enhancing Drugs, various substances, chemical agents, or procedures designed to
provide an advantage in athletic performance. Performance enhancing drugs affect the body in
different ways, such as enlarging muscles or increasing the blood s oxygen carrying capacity. Despite
these apparent benefits, the use of such drugs is considered both competitively unethical and
medically dangerous. Most performance enhancing drugs are outlawed by organizations that govern
major amateur and professional sports.
II Purpose
The use of substances to improve athletic performance is not a new phenomenon. There are stories
dating back thousands of years regarding athletes using drugs in quest of an advantage. Historic ...

These are lipids (fat soluble chemicals) produced naturally by the human body. Some of these steroids
include the male hormone testosterone (an androgen) and the female hormones estrogen and
progesterone. Testosterone is responsible for many of the physical changes that occur to males during
adolescence, such as deepening of the voice and increase in muscle mass. Even after adolescence,
testosterone continues to influence a variety of male sexual and emotional processes.
Derivatives of testosterone can be artificially produced in a laboratory. These steroids, first developed
in the late 1930s, are commonly prescribed for medical reasons such as preventing the loss of bone
density from osteoporosis or counteracting the body wasting effects of acquired immunodeficiency
syndrome (AIDS). Weightlifters discovered the potential athletic benefits of steroids in the 1950s, and
their use by top level athletes spread in the ensuing decades. In 1991 congressional legislation made
steroids a controlled substance in the United States, meaning they could only be obtained legally with
a doctor s prescription.
Despite this, the illegal use of steroids remained widespread among athletes seeking to gain strength
and bulk up their bodies. Taken by injection or in pill form, performance enhancing steroids work
primarily by stimulating certain proteins involved in the building of muscle tissue. The result is an
increase in the person s fat free

The Design Of A Fiber Optic Communication System
Design of a 400Gbps WDM system over 3000Km Balasaravanan Govindarajan(bxg160830),

Abstract: This paper discusses the design of a fiber optic communication system which is used to
support a date rate of about 400Gbps over a length of around 3000Km using a laser power source
around to 1550nm. The design includes both the internal and external modulation. Introduction: Fiber
optic communication is the process where there s an information transmitted from one place to another

The operating voltage of the laser can be determined by using the equation hv=E1 E2 Where h Planck
s constant v Operating voltage E1 conduction band gap energy E2 valence band gap energy The
receiver helps in converting the optical energy into electrical energy using the effect of photoelectric.
A photodiode is generally the main component of a receiver. The components used in the receiver are:
1. Photodiode 2. Amplifiers. 3. Low pass filters The front end: Simulates a photodiode and
preamplifier. The frequency response is specified by the filter transfer function. The equivalent input
noise of the amplifier can be added to the Thermal Noise of the photodiode. These three helps us in
forming the front end of the receiver. The back end of the receiver consists of: 1. Amplifier 2. Low
pass filter 3. Inverter The back end: Simulates the main amplifier and the channel filter of the receiver.
The transfer function of the channel filter is specified in the Filtered module. Photodiode: The
photodiode present at the receiver helps in converting the incident photons into electrons. Generally,
the two most used photodiodes are the Pin Photodiode Avalanche Photodiode In a PIN Photodiode,
electron hole pairs are generated due to the absorption of photons. The Avalanche Photodiode is very
similar to the PIN diode, but the reverse bias voltage applied to this diode is very high. The

White Noise Identity
DeLillo s White Noise focuses heavily on the idea of identity in a technologically advanced world.
Jack Gladney struggles with his own identity throughout the novel, and he desperately tries to hold
onto ideas that make him feel human. He believes children have a stronger sense of identity because
they have not yet been corrupted by technology or society. Many of his children were born from
different mothers and represent different phases of Jack s life, thus different identities. When Babette,
his most trusted and beloved wife reveals her affair, Jack struggles most of all and becomes obsessed
with the identity of her new lover. Personal identity becomes something clouded and hard to decipher

This kind of community transcends the poisonous media and the objectification of human life. For a
small time in the book, white noise becomes inaudible. This ends when everyone discovers that the
media took no notice of their suffering, making them angry. The final forms of identity in White
Noise are love and trust in others. From Babette, Jack gains strength in himself. He believes Love
helps us develop an identity secure enough to allow itself to be placed in another s care and protection.
Babette and I have turned our lives for each other s thoughtful regard (DeLillo 29). This passage truly
emphasizes why Jack feels shattered later on at the mention of her affair. Babette also struggles just to
tell him, and she constantly interrupts his statements and questions to tell him what the story is not this
is not the story of a wife s deception in order to save her own identity as a devoted wife (Wiese 12).
Jack then becomes obsessed with knowing Mr. Gray s identity most likely because he lacks security in
his own. He almost dies due to his need to confront this mystery man. To Babette he asks Do I kill him
and feel better? He doesn t have to know who I am. I make up an identity, I invent a context (DeLillo
225). Once again, Jack shows his desire to be someone other than himself, to escape his life. In losing

Ancient Roman Art Of Entertainment
Ancient Roman Entertainment The art of entertainment held many significant influences within the
Ancient Roman society. Though it is known that certain means to achieve such spectacles were
vicious and cruel, it ultimately satisfied the Roman peoples need for pleasure and excitement. Public
displays varied from chariot races, musical and theatrical performances, to the more gruesome acts of
wild beast hunts, gladiatorial games, and public executions. Most of the Romans daily leisure
activities still remain in the realm of common recreational activities we still perform today, such as
swimming, hunting, fishing, and even gambling. While the inner city state provided nearly all public
entertainment events, citizens held their own interpretations beyond the outer city territories. Every
distinguishable form of entertainment within the society held distinct and important influences
throughout the ancient Roman culture, regardless of how they were formed or who cultivated them.
Displays of mass public entertainment took on a number of different forms, from festivals such as ludi
Megalenses, ludi Ceriales, to ludi Circenses, (chariot racing in the circus) Venationes (games with
animals, also in the circus, but later they took place in the amphitheater as well) and theatrical
performances, ludi Scaenici (Potter and Mattingly, 206). Although the games were religious in origin,

It seemed likely that this growth would be replicated by the entire auto industry. However, this growth
did not increase the market position of the auto industry, as the semiconductor industry was growing
faster than the automotive industry market component. Based on these observations, it became clear
that something had to change. The 1980 semiconductor supply situation was intolerable. Of equal or
greater concern, projected growth in electronics requirements appeared to be unsupportable.
Forward Planning In 1980, the concept of forward planning, business planning, or strategic planning
was not commonly associated with the supply function. Supply management was most often thought
of as a reactive function organized to support manufacturing. Marketing, on the other hand, was more
often thought of as the proactive organization focused on the future of the firm. The failure of
management to recognize the strategic and futuristic implementation of supply management limited
innovative actions when dealing with a firm s supply world. The 1980 situation demanded new
thinking and a new approach to the acquisition of semiconductors. The supply managers involved had
little choice, given the circumstances. Supply had no experience with strategic planning. There were
no guidelines to follow. The responsible supply managers started with a clean piece of paper, a

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Voting System
In the United States, the bastion of democracy, all is not right with its voting system. Election after
election voters are left dissatisfied. Voters feel like they are stuck choosing between the lesser of two
evils, instead of who they want to govern. This is not because of some giant collusion between the rich
or the illuminati to put who they want in power. It is the result of our voting methods that create a two
party system. Elections in America are marked by polarization, gerrymandering, unfair representation,
negative campaigns, and limited choice. There has to be a way to make American elections better.
Some believe that this way is ranked choice voting.
The process of ranked choice voting is simple. On election day, voters put the ... Show more content

Simply put, gerrymandering is the act of politicians meddling in the redrawing of legislative districts
to help their party and friends, and hurt the other party and their enemies (FairVote). Our current,
winner take all, voting system allows the gerrymandering we see today. In 2013, Republican
candidates for the New Jersey assembly won 51% of the vote, but only 32 (40%) of 80 seats. In 2014,
Democratic U.S. House candidates won 57% of votes in California s 53 U.S. House races, but 74% of
seats (FairVote). The two most common methods used to gerrymander districts are cracking and
packing. Cracking is reducing the chance of an opponent winning by splitting up their voters into
several districts, ensuring that they never reach a plurality in any district. Packing buts all of the
opposing party s voters into one district, ensuring that they will win a maximum of one district
(Portland Press). Ranked choice voting has two ways it attacks

These algorithms have their own positives and negatives. New algorithms are evolving day by day.
Two algorithms listed below are discussed in this essay. a) Quantum Key Distribution b) Honey
Encryption. QUANTUM KEY DISTRIBUTION: This algorithm uses photons to transfer the data.
Each data is represented by a single photon. There are two states of photon namely, polarization and
spin. If the bit equals 1, then it is polarization and if the bit value equals 0, it is spin. A sequence of
laser beam is generated in horizontal or vertical direction at the sender s end. It is then transmitted and
the receiver measures the rate of polarization. If the rate of error is too high, then the receiver can
identify that somebody tries to hack the data. If a person tries to intercept the data, the photon gets
destroyed and the interceptor must generate a duplicate photon. The properties of photon make the
user impossible to generate an accurate duplicate. This increases the error. The zero error represents
that the transmission is secure. Benefits of QKD: 1. Highly secure. 2. Data hacking is easily
detectable. 3. Transmission over air is also possible. 4. Simple usage. 5. Easy maintenance.
Limitations of QKD: 1. Expensive. 2. Cannot be used for long distance higher than 90 miles. 3. Ideal
air condition is mandatory to transfer via air. Applications of QKD:

The Treaty Of Versailles On The German State
After The Great War, the citizens of Germany looked for a new hope. The Treaty of Versailles
wrecked the German state and morale seemingly beyond repair with its harsh terms of negotiation. Of
course, the German people expected some reparations to be demanded, but they were shocked when
the meeting of the Allied Powers at the Paris Peace Conference resulted in the creation of the Treaty of
Versailles, a harsh, demanding cry of retaliation. The Treaty of Versailles effectively forced the return
of all lands taken during the war to their rightful governments, including all overseas colonies, which
meant a loss of a symbol of world power status. Most of these demands for land return were
unsurprising to the German people, yet still they took a toll on the German morale. To further damage
Germany s power, the Treaty also called for a mass disarmament of the German military. Though
promised that this was merely a first step in a worldwide process of disarmament , the German army
and navy were severely reduced, and their ability to produce military weaponry and submarines was
greatly restricted. Yet, even these harsh plans to reduce German power did not have the greatest effect
on German confidence. The most damaging portions of the Treaty of Versailles were its honor clauses.
These allowed individuals to be tried as war criminals and, even more injurious, established in writing
that Germany was guilty for the majority of violence and aggression during the war and called for

The Ones Who Walk Away From 1861-1865
The perception of reality and morality differs from individual to individual, from community to
community. The different cultures throughout the world provide breeding grounds to many different
kinds of ethical values and societies. In The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, the author Ursula
Leguin, creates a society that may be perceived as corrupt and unfair, yet is not too different from our
own. Omelas is neither a city of happiness nor a Utopia; it is a city of paradox, of false freedom and
desperation. The people of Omelas live lives full of happiness and comfort, over a rotten foundation of
an abused and abandoned child. Yet Leguin sympathizes with the ones who choose to stay in Omelas
for she believes that they are helpless, stuck in the paradox of moral obligations and moral values. The
Omeleans stay for they live in denial, creating a reality different from ours. To them, they either
believe it is truly moral to uphold the community, with the sacrifice of one child, or they live in
Omelas as an obligation, infinitely appreciative for the child sacrifice. The ones who leave however,
do not want to feel obligation, to rely on this child for happiness. They want to be responsible for their
own happiness. Unfortunately, similar to the Omeleans, Americans consume hundreds of pounds of
meat a day; hundreds of cows, chicken and pigs brutally handled and abused for the pleasure of our
taste buds. The citizens of Omelas who choose to stay are merely residents living in

Changing Society as a Whole in Stubblefield and Keane s...
When one thinks about educational opportunities, it is most likely schoolhouse, college, and even
university settings that may come to mind. As Stubblefield and Keane (1994) point out in Adult
Education in the American Experience (Stubblefield Keane, 1994), provisions for educating adults,
however, did not take shape around a single institutional form (p. 1). Throughout the first two parts of
their 1994 book Adult Education in the American Experience: From the Colonial to the Present,
Stubblefield and Keane introduced many prominent patterns pertaining to the field of adult education.
One such pattern explored the many different adult education settings that have been experienced
throughout the United States, while also making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following the start of public lectures, and the rise of newspapers and magazines, came two
educational institutions that merit exploration (Stubblefield Keane, 1994, p. 34). Apprenticeships
typically allowed for the learner to live right with the teacher and for a set of mutual obligations to be
completed as set forth in a contract. Stubblefield and Keane compare the colonial apprenticeships to
similar apprenticeship programs in England saying colonial apprenticeship copied many of the
English patterns...its integration with general education and its accessibility was probably superior to
the original English form (p. 35). White colonialists were not the only ones that benefited from
apprenticeships; the institution of apprenticeships... often served as a step toward freedom for African
Americans (p. 38). Alongside apprenticeships came evening schools which were typically private
ventures... with elementary courses in reading, writing, and arithmetic (p. 39). These schools were
adequately named, as they were most often held in the evening, with many students working during
the daytime. Evening schools may have had their start in the mid 1600 s, but the idea s basis of having
school at night is still around today. Throughout the rest of the first two parts of their book,

Descriptive Essay On The Turrbine Hall Bridge
The entrance doors are located with many considerations. Although every entrance has its own unique
function, but Using the river entrance to get into the building on level one was less spontaneous than
using the western entrance on level zero when I first visited the building. The sense of arrival was not
the same as the other entrances; I had to work harder to orientate. I very quickly found my self on the
Turbine Hall Bridge, a dead end space with not much purpose to it. When the new building opened,
the arrival experience on level one dramatically changed. Lots of improvement were shown and the
river entrance become more of a way finding route. It now has a comparable sense of arrival as that
accomplished at the western entrance.
Herzog de Meuron have achieved to create a street running across the Turbine Hall from the north to
the south on level one. This entrance very naturally pulled me onto the centre of the Turbine Hall
Bridge which felt like the heart of the building with activity visible on either side. I was able to read
the building from this central part. I got a sense of the building s shape and the layout which was
created in my mind as an imaginary architectural model.
This central space really does operate as the heart of the building; it was a great place to plan my first
move and start to explore Tate Modern in more detail. The Turbine Hall Bridge and its openings to the
landscape on either side, felt like an extension to the bankside s public realm.

The Evolving Automobile
The day in which cars can drive themselves has arrived and Brett Berk believes Californians should
embrace it. More specifically, he believes autonomous cars are vital for the senior population. In his
editorial entitled Self driving cars could keep seniors in the driver s seat, Berk discusses the
advantages of this new and emerging technology. Autonomous cars have been introduced only within
the last decade but their development has continuously advanced. The most current models are near
perfection and will soon be on the roads. Berk is a strong supporter of the driver less car, claiming that
the new technology will greatly benefit older Americans. Through the use of several rhetorical devices
Berk is able to successfully persuade the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His audience believes in independence and self reliance. He thus, suggests, that giving seniors the
opportunity to drive, even if incapacitated, would strengthen their pride and heighten their sense of
individualism. He describes a friend of his grandmother as having to give up her car and having to
move into an assisted living facility. This is meant to tug at the hearts of Californians. Not only does
such a place sound cold and heartless, it insinuates that residents cannot provide from themselves.
Having to depend on others is often seen as weak; Californians want to be self reliant they want to
strive and succeed on their own. Berk is hence able to instill both sorrow and fear into his readers. If
not sympathizing for the elderly who must now depend on others, the reader surely fears of being in
that same position in the future. Hence, he convinces the reader that the elderly need access to these
cars now, but also that the reader will need them in the future. Berk also uses a great amount of factual
evidence to persuade the reader that driver less cars would greatly benefit the elderly. He states,
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the collision rate for older drivers is among
the highest of any age group. Seniors, thus, pose a threat not only to themselves, but to others as well.
Therefore, it would benefit the elderly, as well as the rest of the population, to give seniors access to

The Kenya Shifta War and Realism
The Kenyan Shifta War (1963 1968) and its Realism base and Power Pursuit.
In this essay I am going to discuss the Kenyan war that has emerged in 1963 due to long lasting
grievances about bad treatment from British colonial isolation and ethnic Somali in Kenya irredentism
drive to unite all other five Somali lands with Kenya into a greater Somalia. The issue of British
colony had otherwise been much less to do with this war, the main reason to war was that of
irredentism by Somalis. This conflict went on as Somalis resisted from being governed by a dark
skinned government of the Prime Minister Jomo Kenyatta while at the same time seek unity. Somali

Going to war was the better option they thought of, this is because they are Muslims by religion and
they thought going to war with Kenya was just. Now that s the realists way of dealing with
uncertainty. In my opinion, Realism was the ruling political system that existed in this conflict.
Great Britain as the father of Kenya due to colonization had to intervene to try and bring about an end
to this war between Kenya and Somalia. The question is, how was it going to do that? The answer to
that question is otherwise simple. It starts with the reason why would Great Britain colonise Kenya,
and that is because Kenya has an abundance of raw materials that Britain was exploiting. Somalia with
their non profit making legacy of irredentism was to be a bad effects to how Britain rules Kenya.
Britain had to protect its source of profit by helping Kenya defeat Somalia. Britain then supplied
Kenya with arms to fight back Somalia so that the war will come to an early end so that Britain will
continue with the exploitation of raw materials from Kenya. So literally speaking, Somalia was just an
itch that Britain had to scratch off. Britain even took some of Kenyans and trained them for war so
that they will fight Somalis effectively and strategically to lead to an early end of war. This act by
Britain is influenced by the system of realism as it wasn t interested in

The Roles Of Children And Youth Actors Essay
Theatre feels like it is fading away from relevancy. Often times, theatre is dismissed at all levels,
whether it is from just community theatre or reserved for in laws and tourists. This means that theatre
has got two options. It will either become a completely rigid institution that loses its force and
relevance, or it needs to change and be able to become a powerful voice again. I think that what the
theatre needs is already available and in the theatre, but not used correctly. I feel that children are
some of the most important aspects of theatre and are overlooked because of archetypal child stars.
Now, this does not mean I endorse productions like Rent adapted for high schools or having twelve
year old s performing Spurt of Blood. Those sorts of plays are not appropriate and should be
performed by adults. However, that also means that they should be limited to Annie. I think that
children and youth actors are so beneficial because they offer the commitment, creativity, willingness,
and camaraderie that is needed to change theatre into an influential strength. Children in the theatre
have a lot of flaws. It is something that is impossible to overlook, so it must be acknowledged. They
do not always have the willpower not to look for family members in the audience or grab at costume
pieces that are uncomfortable. If it is a play that s cast is primarily children, they can quickly become
rowdy and run rampant backstage. When in the audience, they can become bored and

Characterism And Symbolism In Henry James s Washington Square
Henry James novel, Washington Square, tells the story of Catherine Sloper, a shy and extremely
modest woman who falls in love with a handsome and charming man, Morris Townsend, after meeting
him at the occasional party given by the aunt Mrs. Almond. Catherine, who is viewed by everyone as a
woman with a plain look and little personality, but a great dowry, becomes an easy target for Morris, a
man with the shadowy background. Unfortunately, for Catherine, her father, Dr. Sloper also considers
her neither clever nor beautiful and believes that Morris is only interested in his daughter for her
money. It is also evident throughout the novel that Morris desires Catherine s money and is not
interested in her as a woman. When Catherine s father does not change his mind towards the couple s
marriage and Morris is convinced by Mrs. Penniman that he will never get a penny from Dr. Sloper,
he disappears within days after telling Catherine he wants to travel to New Orleans for a business.
After Morris abandons Catherine, she becomes more confident in herself, discovers her inner strength,
and gains control over her life.
In the beginning, James describes Catherine as not clever, stalwart, and extremely modest woman with
no trace of her mother s beauty. She was not ugly; she had simply plain, dull, gentle countenance
(James 8). James portrays Catherine as a woman who is willing to sacrifice her own personal
happiness to please others. She is of no interest to other characters in the

Well there are many groups with various ideas that contradict the method. The Catholic Church
strongly opposed it, arguing that God had made a clear delineation between night and day and that
adding or taking away from god s creation was wrong. Some speculated that lengthening the day
could also have negative health impacts on the general populace. On the other hand others worried
about the gas lamps themselves, since many were poorly constructed in the first place. The most
prominent argument against the additive is that all of gas lines were constructed of wood with mud
used to seal it, making fires and explosions a common event. All of these contraindications to adding a
substance to natural gas do not however outweigh the importance of doing so. Public pressure was on
the government to regulate the practice of engineering due to the faulty installation of the natural gas

Why We Have Separate Political Parties In The 1790s
A) The founders of our nation believed that we as people have the right to be free, right to gather and
to have elected officials to represent our desires. But they were not so sure about having separate
political parties, but it seemed that there was no way around it, this issue was the reasons for
separation of one party over a few major issues. In the 1790s there were two groups of people with
opposing views on the how the government should run and set up. One of those groups was the
Federalists, who believed that the Constitution wasn t meant to be taken literally and wanted a strong
central government. The anti federalist or the Republicans, who supported the opposite. These two
groups became the first political parties.
Prior to the Constitution the country was ruled under the Articles of Confederation. These articles
gave the states most the power and left the government to be the middle man, coordinating efforts
between the states. One of the major concerns of the nation was how they were to defend themselves

In Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible (1953), the town of Salem, Massachusetts is established as a
place where their own religion ranks higher than truth and justice. Within this town, the authorities are
the supreme rulers; they do all the governing and rely merely on their Puritan beliefs in order to help
them draw a conclusion to fundamental decisions. These authorities began to develop the belief that
these young girls, one of them who goes by the name of Abigail Williams, are being provided with

Essay on Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
The Road Not Taken: All the Difference
Each person must make many decisions in their lifetime. Some decisions are easy while others are
more difficult. The poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost is a first person narrative tale of a
monumental moment in Frost s life. Frost is faced between the choice of a moment and a lifetime.
Walking down a rural road the narrator encounters a point on his travel that diverges into two separate
similar paths. In Robert Frost s poem The Road Not Taken , Frost presents the idea of man facing the
difficult unalterable predilection of a moment and a lifetime. This idea in Frost s poem is embodied in

exceptional challenging path. Choosing the already known easy path in life many people frequently
endure reassures that the outcome will be predictable. While choosing the less traveled road represents
the gamble of facing a more difficult path in life in hopes to achieve an incomparable and satisfactory
life, contrasting the more familiar lives other people take.
The road not taken delineates man s choice. After vacillating between the two fair roads, he finally
decides to take the road less traveled by ; knowing he cannot see where it will lead. Traveling down
the second road, the speaker still yearns to travel both paths he keeps the first for another day. As the
narrator proceeds down the unworn path, he realizes there will be no way he can ever return to the
deviation to experience the other route. The speakers utters:

The 14th Amendment
The 14th Amendment provides that no government shall take away the individual right to life, liberty,

Equal Protection Clause
No state may deprive any individual of the equal protection of the law.
Generally, the statutory classification provided by Congress is presumptively valid, unless such a
classification is considered suspect. The classification touches upon race or ethnicity of citizens falls
within one of the suspect categories. The Court stated that all racial classifications, imposed by
whatever federal, state, or local governmental actor, must be analyzed by a reviewing court under
strict scrutiny. Adarand Constructors, Inc. v. Pena, 515 U.S. 200 (1995). Thus, suspect classifications

A benign discrimination may be justified where the distinction is used for remedial purposes of

is socially most advantaged: They do not belong to a discrete insular minority; thus, the impact of the
statute cannot be said to have been placed on a minority group. As the court held in Hunter, where the
discriminatory law s impact falls on minority, it will be under strict scrutiny and the majority needs no

Essay Comparing Beowulf and The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki
Beowulf and The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki
There are so many similarities between the hero of the poem Beowulf and The Saga of King Hrolf
Kraki, an Iceland saga representing 1000 years of oral traditions prior to the 1300 s when it was
written, that these similarities cannot be attributed solely to coincidence.
The Cambridge History of English and American Literature states that the hero of the poem, Beowulf
himself, may be the same person as Bodvar Biarki, the chief of Hrolfr Kraki s knights (v1, ch3, s3,
n13). George Clark in The Hero and the Theme mentions: The form of Beowulf taken as a whole
suggests both the Bear s Son folktale type (especially as we find it in Scandinavia) and the combat
myth . . . . (286). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bodvar avenges wrongs done to his family by killing the one who did the injustices; Beowulf avenges
wrongs done to his family: he avenged Heardred s death, I repaid Hygelac ... with my bright sword, I
was the killer of Daghrefin.
When King Hring took sick and died, Bodvar became ruler of the kingdom; when Heardred was killed
in battle, Beowulf became king. Bodvar thought of others first; he found support for his mother before
leaving his people; Beowulf likewise placed the concerns of others before his own, putting his life in
jeopardy in order to satisfy a family debt to King Hrothgar for paying wergild for the hero s father s
indiscretion as a young man.
Bodvar leaves Gautland to travel to the kingdom of the Danes; Beowulf leaves Geatland to travel to
the kingdom of the Danes. Bodvar goes to King Hrolf, widely known for his generosity, magnificence
and courage; Beowulf goes to King Hrothgar, widely known for the same virtues. In Denmark Bodvar
meets a farmer who thinks that the hero is imposing; in Denmark Beowulf meets a coast guard who
considers him imposing. The farmer s wife says to Bodvar, Your hand seems to be strong. . . . (48);
Beowulf s handgrip was so strong that he ripped off Grendel s arm and shoulder; he had the strength
of thirty in his mighty hand grip

Hunger Short Story
Throughout the novella Hunger by Lan Samantha Chang the reader is provided with different stories
of Chinese immigrant parents and their children and how it is that they all struggle to communicate
due to the different languages that are spoken by each member of the family, whether it be music or an
actual language. Although the hardship to communicate between parent and child is an important
problem to discuss there is a voice that is often left out, the voice of the internal and external struggle
that immigrant parents face. An immigrant parent will be faced with more difficulty to assimilate to
their new environment or in the case of Min they will reject the ideas of assimilation, they create their
own world in which their culture and self s remains intact. This leads me to wonder why else someone
would not wish to assimilate and what obstacles come with rejecting their new environment.
Although it is not explicitly stated throughout the novella Min is reluctant to learn English due to the
fear of losing her culture and herself in the processes. Min s fear of losing herself further emphasizes
the internal struggles that immigrant parents face. Struggles that go unnoticed due to the focus usually
being the offspring and the struggles that they face as a product of immigrant parents. Focusing more
on why an immigrant parent would chose to not learn a language to protect their identity and their
culture, I have asked my parents about their own experiences and feelings

ship starts dismissing their cannons at their enemies. Just then, the other two ships began to sail away,

It can be difficult to overcome bias and you cannot eliminate all of them, but it is essential to examine biases and stereo types about the country and its people before you set out to work there. We were in the middle of what I like to call a civil war. Although there were no battles or gunfights our country was torn in half. There was an issue dealing with race in the United States. The movie, Remember the Titans is based on actual events that occurred in the year 1971. Mainly on the integration of a school called TC Williams High School. Some of these steroids include the male hormone testosterone (an androgen) and the female hormones estrogen and progesterone. Testosterone is responsible for many of the physical changes that occur to males during adolescence, such as deepening of the voice and increase in muscle mass. Even after adolescence, testosterone continues to influence a variety of male sexual and emotional processes. Derivatives of testosterone can be artificially produced in a laboratory. These steroids, first developed in the late 1930s, are commonly prescribed for medical reasons such as preventing the loss of bone density from osteoporosis or counteracting the body wasting effects of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Weightlifters discovered the potential athletic benefits of steroids in the 1950s, and their use by top level athletes spread in the ensuing decades. In 1991 congressional legislation made steroids a controlled substance in the United States, meaning they could only be obtained legally with a doctor s prescription. Despite this, the illegal use of steroids remained widespread among athletes seeking to gain strength and bulk up their bodies. Taken by injection or in pill form, performance enhancing steroids work primarily by stimulating certain proteins involved in the building of muscle tissue. Though it is known that certain means to achieve such spectacles were vicious and cruel, it ultimately satisfied the Roman peoples need for pleasure and excitement. Public displays varied from chariot races, musical and theatrical performances, to the more gruesome acts of wild beast hunts, gladiatorial games, and public executions. Most of the Romans daily leisure activities still remain in the realm of common recreational activities we still perform today, such as swimming, hunting, fishing, and even gambling. While the inner city state provided nearly all public entertainment events, citizens held their own interpretations beyond the outer city territories. Every distinguishable form of entertainment within the society held distinct and important influences throughout the ancient Roman culture, regardless of how they were formed or who cultivated them. Displays of mass public entertainment took on a number of different forms, from festivals such as ludi Megalenses, ludi Ceriales, to ludi Circenses, (chariot racing in the circus) Venationes (games with animals, also in the circus, but later they took place in the amphitheater as well) and theatrical performances, ludi Scaenici (Potter and Mattingly, 206). These algorithms have their own positives and negatives. New algorithms are evolving day by day. Two algorithms listed below are discussed in this essay. a) Quantum Key Distribution b) Honey Encryption. QUANTUM KEY DISTRIBUTION: This algorithm uses photons to transfer the data. Each data is represented by a single photon. There are two states of photon namely, polarization and spin. If the bit equals 1, then it is polarization and if the bit value equals 0, it is spin. A sequence of laser beam is generated in horizontal or vertical direction at the sender s end. It is then transmitted and the receiver measures the rate of polarization. If the rate of error is too high, then the receiver can identify that somebody tries to hack the data. If a person tries to intercept the data, the photon gets destroyed and the interceptor must generate a duplicate photon. The properties of photon make the user impossible to generate an accurate duplicate. This increases the error. The zero error represents that the transmission is secure. Benefits of QKD: 1. Highly secure. 2. Data hacking is easily detectable. 3. Transmission over air is also possible. 4. Simple usage. 5. Easy maintenance. Limitations of QKD: 1. Expensive. 2. The Treaty of Versailles wrecked the German state and morale seemingly beyond repair with its harsh terms of negotiation. Of course, the German people expected some reparations to be demanded, but they were shocked when the meeting of the Allied Powers at the Paris Peace Conference resulted in the creation of the Treaty of Versailles, a harsh, demanding cry of retaliation. The Treaty of Versailles effectively forced the return of all lands taken during the war to their rightful governments, including all overseas colonies, which meant a loss of a symbol of world power status. Most of these demands for land return were unsurprising to the German people, yet still they took a toll on the German morale. To further damage Germany s power, the Treaty also called for a mass disarmament of the German military. Though promised that this was merely a first step in a worldwide process of disarmament , the German army and navy were severely reduced, and their ability to produce military weaponry and submarines was greatly restricted. Yet, even these harsh plans to reduce German power did not have the greatest effect on German confidence. The most damaging portions of the Treaty of Versailles were its honor clauses. These allowed individuals to be tried as war criminals and, even more injurious, established in writing that Germany was guilty for the majority of violence and aggression during the war and called for ... Great Britain as the father of Kenya due to colonization had to intervene to try and bring about an end to this war between Kenya and Somalia. The question is, how was it going to do that? The answer to that question is otherwise simple. It starts with the reason why would Great Britain colonise Kenya, and that is because Kenya has an abundance of raw materials that Britain was exploiting. Often times, theatre is dismissed at all levels, whether it is from just community theatre or reserved for in laws and tourists. This means that theatre has got two options. It will either become a completely rigid institution that loses its force and relevance, or it needs to change and be able to become a powerful voice again. I think that what the theatre needs is already available and in the theatre, but not used correctly. I feel that children are some of the most important aspects of theatre and are overlooked because of archetypal child stars. Now, this does not mean I endorse productions like Rent adapted for high schools or having twelve year old s performing Spurt of Blood. Those sorts of plays are not appropriate and should be performed by adults. However, that also means that they should be limited to Annie. I think that children and youth actors are so beneficial because they offer the commitment, creativity, willingness, and camaraderie that is needed to change theatre into an influential strength. Children in the theatre have a lot of flaws. It is something that is impossible to overlook, so it must be acknowledged. They do not always have the willpower not to look for family members in the audience or grab at costume pieces that are uncomfortable. Unfortunately, for Catherine, her father, Dr. Sloper also considers her neither clever nor beautiful and believes that Morris is only interested in his daughter for her money. It is also evident throughout the novel that Morris desires Catherine s money and is not interested in her as a woman. When Catherine s father does not change his mind towards the couple s marriage and Morris is convinced by Mrs. Penniman that he will never get a penny from Dr. Sloper, he disappears within days after telling Catherine he wants to travel to New Orleans for a business. After Morris abandons Catherine, she becomes more confident in herself, discovers her inner strength, and gains control over her life. In the beginning, James describes Catherine as not clever, stalwart, and extremely modest woman with no trace of her mother s beauty. She was not ugly; she had simply plain, dull, gentle countenance (James 8). James portrays Catherine as a woman who is willing to sacrifice her own personal happiness to please others. She is of no interest to other characters in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Catholic Church strongly opposed it, arguing that God had made a clear delineation between night and day and that adding or taking away from god s creation was wrong. Some speculated that lengthening the day could also have negative health impacts on the general populace. On the other hand others worried about the gas lamps themselves, since many were poorly constructed in the first place. The most prominent argument against the additive is that all of gas lines were constructed of wood with mud used to seal it, making fires and explosions a common event. All of these contraindications to adding a substance to natural gas do not however outweigh the importance of doing so.
