I ve read this and been thinking about it. Here is my response to this the editorial. First of all, OF
COURSE Christians should try to influence elections... so should everyone else! My concern about
the focus is that so often it seems that the Christians Mr. Grudem is trying to influence try to tie their
political opinions, policy positions, and those whom they support with their religion. I very rarely see
this link as being positive; typically it is short sighted and replaces critical thinking of far sighted
potential ramifications of a policy to blind obedience to a faith based system of thought. That is not

The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for
its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about

Defining a good person is difficult because I don t want to put constraints around it. To be morally
good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own
definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing so,

I attended Western Kentucky University s symphony concert. It was on Friday, October 30th at
7:30pm. It was held in Van Meter Hall. Their event was named It s time for a treat. The symphony was
conducted by Dr. Brain St. John. Before it began, I read over the program that was handed out to find
out basic information. The history of the pieces helped in understanding them. The concert featured
many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens, Modest Mussorgsky, and

Confocal imaging of RIG I recognition of bacterial ligands and nano TNAs. In this proposal we will
investigate the subcellular localization of bacteria and bacterial nucleic acids in relation to the
cytosolic innate immune receptor, RIG I. In order to accomplish this goal we will combine traditional
immunofluorescence for RIG I and cellular compartment protein markers with the use of
commercially available products EU and EdU to label bacteria RNA and DNA, respectively. The
Thermo Fisher Scientific products EU and EdU were originally developed to detect global RNA
transcription and measure de novo DNA systhesis or S phase synthesis, respectively. By growing
bacteria in the presence of these products prior to infection of glial cells we can track not only bacteria
but nucleic acid subcellular localization. This will provide insight into the accessibility of nucleic
acids to host innate immune receptors. By innovatively combining immunofluorescence and nucleic
acid labeling we will characterizing the localization of bacteria, bacterial nucleic acids, and RIG I over
a given time course providing valuable insight into the mechanisms of host cell recognition of bacteria
in glial cells.
