Powerpoint Business Cycle
The PowerPoint is going to talk about the basic economic cycle and how it relates to the market
The business cycle will also be discussed and the impact it has on employment, the market, the
inflation as well as demand and supply.
The stock market cycle and its relationship to the economic or business cycle will be discussed.
The business cycle is a cycle the economy goes through every 7 to 10 years.
It is very unpredictable due to constant change in the market. Each stage of the cycle differs on length
of time based on market and outside factors.
The business cycle is comprised of 2 main phases: the expansion phase occurs when the economy is
growing; and the recession phase occurs when the economy is dwindling.
Each phase has defined emotions that affects the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most often moderate inflation occurs, but must be controlled by the government in order to maintain
stability.
The cycle will continue until there is a destabilization in the market, causing recession to occur.
The expansion phase can be divided into 3 phases: the recovery phase, the early phase and the late
phase.
The expansion phase can be split into 3 phases:
Recovery Phase
Most people in this phase are still cautious of the market due to the recent recession or depression.
The stock markets slowly rises as commodities rise. Also the inflation rate falls in order to reflect the

Early Phase
People are becoming more confident in the market and are willing to invest more.
The economy is more stable, causing the stocks to continually become strong.
Late Phase
There is an excessive confidence in the market, causing people in unnecessarily spend.
Inflation rates start to rise as price, demand and supply increases.

The Morning After for Mokuba Kaiba
It is a beautiful Morning in domino city, the sun was shining and birds were singing. People were
making their way to work, chatting on cell phones with business calls, or chatting and gossiping with
friends. Teens and children were chatting with one another on the way to school. For Mokuba Kaiba, it
wasn t such a great morning. He was extremely nervous, because last night Serenity, Joey Wheelers
little sister, had given up her virginity to him. If Seto, his older brother found out he had sex, he would
kill him. As for Joey, he didn t know that Serenity was even dating. He would surely kill Mokuba for
taking his baby sisters virginity. Mokuba swallowed down his nervousness, deciding to at least tell
Joey he made love to his girlfriend. He quickly walked into Domino high school, searching for his
blond hot headed friend. When he spotted him at the lockers, he swallowed his nervousness and
walked up to him. Joey, Can I talk to you about something? He asked nervously. Um sure squirt, what
you want to talk about? Joey obviously had been startled, not expecting Mokuba to appear suddenly. I
do not want Seto to know The raven haired teen informed him. Hearing this, Joey became concerned.
It made him think Mokuba had gotten himself into some real trouble. Okay what is it squirt, are you in
trouble? Mokuba s eyes widened slightly, realizing how it would have looked to his blond friend. No I
have a girlfriend Joey raised an eyebrow at this, confused why

How Did Fermi Contribute To The Development Of The Atomic...
Enrico Fermi and the Development of the Atomic Bomb
The 20th century saw many important discoveries which impacted people worldwide. Great
discoveries were made in the realm of science and technology which lead to the atomic age. One of
the leading pioneers in the area of physics was Enrico Fermi. Without his contributions, the atomic
bomb may not have been developed or would have possibly been postponed. Enrico Fermi was born
into a family who had enough money to live comfortably. Fermi was born in Rome on the 29th of
September,1901, the son of Alberto Fermi, a Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Communications, and
Ida de Gattis (Mawson 12). Although he had a comfortable life, he also had his share of problems and

His family had enough money to send him to college but he was still able to get scholarships for his
academic achievement. He won a fellowship of the Scuola Normale Superiore in 1918. He spent four
years at the University of Pisa, gaining his doctoral degree in physics in 1922 #8230; (12). He was
even teaching his teachers there by 1920. While still an undergraduate, Fermi worked out his first
theory of permanent value to physics. He also attended the Universities of Rome, Leiden and
Gottingen. His only setback was a period of post doctoral study in Germany in 1923 among such
talents such as Wolfgang Pauli and Werner Heisenberg when his talents went unrecognized (154). He
preferred simplicity and concreteness rather than pretension and the philosophic German style. J.
Robert Oppenheimer, the American theorist, later described Fermi as not a philosopher and unable to
let things be foggy. He had a passion for clarity. After Fermi graduated, he went straight to work. He
began teaching at different universities. He taught at the University of Florence from 1924
to 1926 and at the University of Rome from 1927 to 1938 (Epstein 87). At the age of 25, he was

Clarke s Cosmological Argument On The Existence Of God
Clarke s Cosmological argument has been around for multiple centuries the purpose of this argument
being to try to prove the existence of God. Although this argument sounds valid meaning that IF
premises 1 and 2 are true, then the conclusion must be true while many people have accepted this
argument, it has also caused a lot of questioning and skepticism, mainly because of what the
Cosmological Argument uses to support its argument the Principle of Sufficient reason. Before
determining whether the PSR effectively supports Clarke s Cosmological argument, one must know
the Cosmological Argument s premises and what they mean. Premise 1 of Clarke s Cosmological
Argument asserts that every being is either dependent or independent meaning ... Show more content

For example, if you see a dog at a veterinary, you know that the dog exists due to its parents
(component 1 of the Principle of Sufficient Reason). You also know that there is an explanation for the
dog being at the veterinary: the dog might be sick or is going to go through a medical procedure
(component 2 of the Principle of Sufficient Reason).
Although the Principle of Sufficient Reason seems to be straight forward it is heavily questioned and
fails to effectively support Clarke s Cosmological arguments for many reasons, one of them being its
failure to think about or recognize Brute Facts. Brute Facts are things that can t be explained; in this
case, the inability to explain the existence of a being. An example of a Brute Fact is God, since his
existence can t be explained but his existence is considered to be true by many people. Although it has
not been explicitly confirmed that Brute Facts actually exist, the Principle of Sufficient Reason and its
premises fails to acknowledge the possibility of Brute facts existing, therefore making the PSR to be
less certain and accepted since it requires that everything has to have an explanation. This failure to
acknowledge Brute Facts by the PSR also makes it a weak argument, therefore also making it not
effectively support Clarke s Cosmological Argument.

The Environment:

Over the decade of 1980 till 1990; the personal computer industry in the United States has grown to a
$40 billion dollar industry fueled by remarkable advancements in the technologies of both storage and
data processing.
However, these breakthroughs have caused this rapid growth to come to an end. As the vast spread of
these technologies made personal computers become a commodity, where customers are looking for
the best bargains in terms of price from mass dealers; rather than looking for professional advice on
what s best for them from a certified computer dealer.

IBM concentrated its efforts on making their personal computers the rightful option for corporations;
which resulted in a rapid increase in the demand that IBM couldn t satisfy.
This was a great opportunity for Compaq to enter the market and prosper using retail dealers to reach
customers. In 1987, Compaq was witnessing tremendous growth in sales which led Compaq to be
recognized as an important player in the personal computer market. And since then it is one of the
firmly established companies in the computer industry. Compaq holds 71% of the branded desktops
used by the fortune 1000 companies (since it s a clone of IBM so naturally they would target the same
segment). And only 19% of the retail personal computers.
In addition to other competitors who imitated Dell in their successful direct distribution strategy such

Threat of new entrants:
Rapid advancements in technology have created a low entry barrier for new competitors to enter the

The Importance Of Building A Rapport And Earning Trust Is...
African American women generally have mistrust for therapists or a fear for being stigmatized when
being treated for mental illness or AOD disorders. Unfortunatly, almost 25% or 7.5 million African
Americans have been diagnosed with a mental illness (Ward, Clark, Heidrich, 2009, p.1589). The
scope of the problem will be discussed in this paper and statistical information will also be provided
regarding the African American population. Many African Americans, especially in rural
communities, do not seek treatment for psychiatric mental health disorders, including AOD disorders,
and when they do seek treatment it is often with primary care providers (Boyd, Berger, Baliko,
Tavakoli, 2009, p.383). This paper will provide information regarding the signs and symptoms of
addiction and the barriers to treatment for the African American population. The importance of
building a rapport and earning trust is essential for retaining the African American population in
treatment.
Scope of Problem African American women that have substance abuse issues are related to severe
problems that may stem from childhood. African American women are more likely to use the most
severely addictive drugs and incur the highest rate of drug use related emergencies and alcohol use
mortalities (Davis Ancis, 2012, p.662). Some research concluded that African American women use
substances as a response to stressful life events that may have been grounded in their adolescence.

Character Analysis OfThe Mill On The Floss
The sharp and unruly main character of The Mill on the Floss is Maggie Tulliver. She is a gell gone
nine, at the outset of the story, the daughter of the miller Mr. Tulliver, and lives with her family on the
banks of the Floss (Eliot 8, 9, 12). When Mr. and Mrs. Tulliver begin discussing the issue of Tom s
education in their first conversation of the story, they segue into discussion of his sister. While Mrs.
Tulliver derides Maggie for being unsensible, brown skinned, and altogether unlike her side of the
family, Mr. Tulliver defends her, saying she s a straight, black eyed wench as anybody need wish to
see. I don t know i what she s behind other folks s children; and she can read almost as well as the
parson, (Eliot 12). Maggie s parents further describe her physiognomy for the reader later in this
conversation. From Mrs. Tulliver s perspective, her daughter s hair exemplifies the issue with Maggie
s character. But her hair won t curl all I can do with it... an there s her cousin Lucy s got a row o curls
round her head, an not a hair out o place, Mrs. Tulliver frets (Eliot 12, 13). Maggie s mother feels that
her daughter is a comical mistake, with her dark, heavy locks, air of a small Shetland pony, and
likeness to a Bedlam creature, (Eliot 12, 13). Because of this dissatisfaction, Mrs. Tulliver is forever
attempting to make her daughter more similar to herself and to other folks s respectable, curly haired
children. Later in the story, Maggie s character is further established by juxtaposition to her brother
Tom. Tom Tulliver differs from Maggie not only in appearance, but also in garnering motherly
affection: Mrs. Tulliver continually speaks of him with great approbation and pride, greeting him as
my sweet lad! on his return from school (Eliot 30). In addition to this contrast in affection, a contrast
in physical character is evident between the siblings. Tom is described as a lad with light brown hair,
cheeks of cream and roses, full lips, indeterminate nose and eyebrows... the generic character to
boyhood, while Maggie is moulded and colored with the most decided intention, a dark eyed,
demonstrative, rebellious girl, though it is noted that these physical appearances

The Byrds History
The Byrds was a rock band that started in 1964 in Los Angeles, California. The band originally started
out as a trio, named, The Jet Set, with Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, and Gene Clark. They
eventually changed their name to, The Byrds, with 11 members in their band. The members were:
Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, Gene Clark, Gram Parsons, Chris Hillman, Michael Clarke, Clarence
White, Gene Parsons, Skip Battin, John York, and John Guerin. They were going to call their band,
The Birds, but in England, it is slang for girls, and they didn t want to be called, The Girls, so
McGuinn came up with, The Byrds. The band was active from 1964 to 1973, 1989 to 1991, and 2000.

is: weep, together, embracing, and peace. You weep together, then you embrace each other for

Experience Of My Learning Experience
My most memorable moments occurred during my elementary school years because most of the
learning was combined with fun school trips. I remember learning about Native Americans and the
way they survived in the wild. I was amazed to learn about them and the tools they made as well. The
baskets, fishing, and use of acorns for food. We were able to learn about the importance of knowing of
those who came before us. Also, about the close knit families they had and traditions. The historically
aspect of it was very interesting because they were people that were very different from the culture we
knew. The aha moment came by visiting Pioneer Village because I was amazed that we can see and
touch a replica of those times. I realized that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During my time in school, there were many great field trips and I am aware that not all schools have
the same funding. Therefore, I could only imagine all the effort it took to find a location at Morro Bay
and plan a trip to Pioneer Village. First, the teacher must have planned the lessons that could coincide
with the trip. Students will then be able to experience everything they had learned in the classroom.
Before proceeding with the lessons, days before a field trip, teachers must get clearance and get
permission slips from parents. Also, a teacher must figure out if there is funding from the school. I
would imagine that the opportunity would be presented from the school administrators because there
were other classes from our school who went as well to both field trips. Therefore, teachers may have
collaborated in regards to the lessons and making the trips happen amongst each other. In order for
students to be prepared for the trip, I would have made sure the students learned what they were going
to experience. For instance, we were aware of how the acorns were crushed; therefore, we were
excited to crush them in the same manner we learned that Natives did. For the ocean trip, students
must learn safety precautions because they could slip on the rocks. Teachers must be attentive and
helpful to the student s needs and question while at the location to ensure they understand the meaning
of their surroundings. The two field trips were a great

Creating a High Speed Rail Line in Wisconsin Essay
The people of Wisconsin who commute from Madison to Milwaukee and vice versa would find a
High speed rail line useful for many reasons. Granted most people that commute from Madison to
Milwaukee of vice versa aren t doing it every day. They are generally just doing it once in a while.
The technology of high speed rails is relatively simple; it consists of magnetic tracks repelling the
train with a polar opposite magnet on the bottom. This creates a surface with little friction; therefore
the train can go faster. A lot of factors come into play when the state thinks of funding this. Governor
Walker rejected the funds and cancelled the project in 2010, but there are people that sill have hope.

The states of Ohio and Wisconsin were given about $1.2 billion, but they both passed the grants up.
The funds were reallocated to other states ( Wisconsin and Ohio ). For many the hope for high speed
rail in the near future in Wisconsin has diminished because of Governor Walker rejected the funds, but
Minnesota never stopped planning. Governor walker would have liked to spend the money on other
things such as highway systems for the state and other infrastructure. After Wisconsin governor Scott
Walker cancelled the funds for the high speed rail program, Minnesota continued planning. They
currently are still planning a line from Milwaukee to Minneapolis that would run about 110 mph.
Consequentially, it doesn t run through Madison. The route is called the Empire Builder and the state
of Minnesota plans to upgrade the line (Ryan). This line wouldn t help commuters between Madison
and Milwaukee, but it would make an easy trip from Milwaukee to the Twin Cities. The state of
Wisconsin plans to pay around $57,000 of the planning for the line. That is about half, and the plan
should be drawn up by the summer of 2014 (Ryan). High speed rail will modernize Wisconsin and
America if implemented. If American wants to stay a modernized country and stay ahead of the others
they would need to stay ahead of the technology that is not the case with high

Negative Effects Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial revolution which lasted from the late 1700 s to the mid 1800 s had many effects on the
US in the 1700 s, 1800 s, and today. Led by inventors, workers, and big business owners the Industrial
revolution in America was a time period were the mechanization of agriculture and textile
manufacturing and the revolution of power sources began and innovated the manufacturing
possibilities in America. It began with the discovery of new inventions, and affected many people
from immigrants and cityfolk to the creators and owners of giant manufacturing companies. Since it

communities, urbanization and negatives include the loss of competition, the effects on workers and
conditions, and the loss of caring between social classes. The Industrial revolution had many positive
effects. The Industrial revolution had many positive effects on the US and its citizens. One major
positive effect of it was how the Industrial revolution is how it gave the US the ability to mass produce
manufactured goods inside the US which in turn helped the US economy (Doc 5) and (Doc 3). It
boosted the economy, because it increased the amount of people buying things from the US because it
was making a lot of products and it increased trade within. A second positive effect on the US was
how big businesses and manufacturers in cities would sometimes try to help the community it s in by
building houses and renting them out for cheap and it would employ many people so the size and
population of the community would increase, therefore increasing the diversity of it (Doc 2). Since the
owner would employ many and the rent was cheap, the workers and their families might have a
chance to, if the money is used wisely, increase in amount of money they have and possibly leave and
be higher in the social classes because of the industrial revolution. One final but still major positive
effect of it was how it caused the flow of people into cities otherwise known as urbanization, which

The World Problems Of North America
Words are powerful. When the average person in North America hears the term first world or the
phrase first world problems it s merely a way of classifying our world, and is not that deep. For many,
first world refers to countries that are advance and are leading the rest of the world such as Canada
and the US. Conversely, many people would refer to many countries in Africa as third world. First
world problems is an expression people from the first world nations use to complain about nonsensical
issues. First world, second world, third world. Developed countries, developing countries, less

Also, such notions grossly undermines the impacts of colonization that still persists in many formerly
colonized nations such as almost all of Africa. It important to note that first world nations such as
Canada, the US, Australia, and New Zealand are also colonized nations. Prior to colonial European
settlers, Indigenous people lived in those lands now occupied the descendants of the colonizers and
many immigrants who came thereafter.
Not long ago, I recall a hashtag that was trending about people complaining about
#firstworldproblems. Some of the things people were complaining about include slow internet, or
people s phones dying before they get a chance to recharge it to name a couple. Although it might
have been for fun on the internet or meme worthy, coining petty complaints as first world problem is
an insult and insensitive to people experiencing real world and often life threatening problems. The
phrase/concept irritates me and definitely make me uncomfortable because, it seeks to legitimize petty
problems of people with privilege. I came across a quote that was circulating on social media such as

Unbroken
Track star Gail Devers once said, Sometimes we fall, sometimes we stumble, but we can t stay down.
We can t allow life to beat us down. Everything happens for a reason, and it builds character in us, and

Louie s strong minded determination continues to be a factor in his survival until the very end.
Before he was introduced to running, Louie was somewhat of a heathen. He was a thief and refused to

So it is easy to conclude that china s economic markets are sluggish and weak, for these reasons,
China should adopt this monetary strategy to deal with these series of problems, and keeping the
healthy and steady growth in economic markets. On the other hand, China wanted to increase the
monetary (Yuan) liquidity, further, wanted Yuan to become international reserve currency. Broadly
speaking, China hoped to consolidate its central position in the global economic markets. In
conclusion, pulling the healthy and steady growth internally and pushing Chinese monetary (Yuan)

In the short term, this depreciation action will bring varying degree of positive and negative impact in

Central Valley Air Pollution Essay
Over the past few years, air pollution has been one of the major problems encountered in the
California central valley. The Central Valley, also called as the Great Valley of California, is comprised
of approximately about 20, 000 square miles. It is consisted of two parts, the northern portion is called
the Sacramento Valley and the southern portion is called the San Joaquin Valley (U.S.). There are
several factors that could have contributed to the amount of air pollution in the air, some of which
humans have the ability to prevent and mitigate. Many of the activities that we do in our daily lives
could result to the development of air pollution without us even knowing it. In this paper, we will
discuss what air pollution is and gain a better understanding of what air pollution is, determine its
causes, economic, social, and health impacts, and create solutions that would address the problem of
air pollution in the California central valley. In definition, air pollution is the appearance air pollutant
in the air which worsens the quality of air and imperil the health of living organisms, natural
resources, and structures and properties (Park, 2016). The sources of air pollution could come from
natural sources such as forest fires, and volcanic eruptions, moreover, it could also come from
substances that are emitted into the air that resulted from human activities. Human activities could
either be accidental or intentional. Some of the accidental human activities

Technology is a very important part of warfare. Technology is driven by the military. The army s race

They were built strongly and carried cannons capable of destroying enemy ships. In today s age, the
aircraft carrier and battleships are the rulers of the sea.
Aircraft carriers were first developed in WWII along with planes. Conventional naval guns were
limited to a range of about 20 miles, but by World War II the aircraft carrier, a ship capable of
launching, recovering, and storing aircraft that could themselves destroy ships had extended the battle
range of surface fleets by as much as 300 miles. In doing so, it had a profound effect on naval warfare.
The airplane had just begun to go to sea on the eve of World War I. In November 1910 the American
scout cruiser USS Birmingham launched the first airplane ever to take off from a ship, and two
months later a plane was landed on an improvised flight deck built onto the armored cruiser USS
Pennsylvania. In 1913 a British cruiser, HMS Hermes, was converted to carry aircraft. In 1916, flying
off decks were built aboard several British ships, and by 1918 the Royal Navy had a converted
passenger liner, HMS Argus, that could land and launch planes on a flight deck extending from bow to
stern. The Argus was the world s first true through deck aircraft carrier and was thus the prototype for
all later carriers. (Britannica).

At first, Pip is an abject, shy individual that does not hold his head up. I have particular reasons for

The Life And Opinions Of Tristram Shandy, Sisband
Writing, when properly managed, (as you may be sure I think mine is) is but a different name for a
conversation (87; vol. II, ch. XI), states the narrator Tristram Shandy in Laurence Sterne s novel, The
Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. Indeed, the distinctive writing style of the novel
may make one feel reminded of a real conversation due to the many interruptions and digressions,
which are typical of human face to face interaction and which occasionally make it more difficult for
the reader to follow the storyline.
Following the above depicted statement, Tristram proceeds by maintaining that the truest respect

in terms of how they are dealt with. In order to achieve this, the analysis will be confined to only three
visual elements, namely asterisks, dashes, and gaps because they are the most common ones. Although
literary researchers have already examined these particular visual elements, they have not done so in
terms of their recipients. For my analysis, it is important to distinguish between the narratee, the
implied reader, and the actual reader: According to Jahn, the narratee is the narrator s fictional
addressee (cf. N1.5.); the implied reader, as already mentioned above, is a text s overall projection of a
reader role, superordinate to any narratee (N2.3.2.), which means that he is e.g. able to understand the
function of all visual elements in the novel and handles them perfectly; Which is, according to Iser,
influenced by his former experience (cf. Der Akt des Lesens 66). The actual reader, consequently, does
not necessarily have this experience and might struggle during the reading

How Has Television Become So Attached To The American Society
About 65% of the households in Untied States have three or more television sets, but the average has

screen that shows their favorite series and become basically in love with it that they spend countless

manipulated into thinking the opposite way that today s society is. Modern day society has many

According to Oxford Dictionary, the definition of perfection is The action or process of improving
something until it is faultless. In art, the striving for perfection has always been changing back and

include Marcel Duchamp s Fountain, and Damien Hirst s The Physical Impossibility of Death in the
Mind of Someone Living. Through Duchamp s work, the viewer gets a face to face interaction with

John Berger plays with this idea in his article Ways of Being. Essentially in that text he makes the
argument that duplicating an artwork, makes the original artwork have less of an impact on the
consumer than it would if it were not replicated. He gave an example with the Mona Lisa and various
other artworks. In seeing so many variations of the Mona Lisa, such as in print, on television, in
movies, printed on t shirts, et cetera, there is a hype that is built up about the original artwork.
However, when gone to see in person, the piece essentially lets the viewer down because it could not
live up to the standards that the replicas set for it. However, there is still the idea brought up in Berger
s writing that states, One might argue that all reproductions more or less distort, and that therefore the
original painting is still in a sense unique. This idea opens up the gap that Lacan introduces in his
writing, The Ideal I, between the original object and its other. In this case, the other being the
duplication. It is interesting that Berger s ideas connect to Lacan s ideas under this umbrella. In
searching for the perfect artwork, can the original be the one of true perfection? This relationship
between perfection, duplication, and idealization is very tricky to concretely take a stance on because
they are all so subjective. However, the relationship is essentially that the way to connect the

even though it may be considered an infringement on human rights and freedom of expression, it

Climate Change Is The Effect On The Planet
Climate Change Who would have ever believed that it has come to this? The Columbia Encyclopedia
(2006) has indicated that Planetary Climate Change is the gradual increase of the temperature of the
earth s atmosphere as a result of the increase in greenhouse gases since the time of the Industrial
Revolution. now, obviously there are some issues with this, and more than a few theories pertaining to
it; all of which relate to the primary culprits of the gases. Things like the burning of fossil fuels, as an
example. Other things like global deforestation, the clearing of huge swaths of Amazon Basin, and
even cattle! Unfortunately, there are a number of conflicting opinions as to whether or not any or all of
these are contributing factors of climate change. One of the major concerns pertaining to climate
change is the effects on the planet. As we, all know, along with the increase in atmospheric surface
temperatures on the earth, the weather begins to alter its patterns and change. This results in some
rather unusual events. The United Nations panel on Climate Change (2007) actually released some
rather disturbing findings. It reported that overall, there has been a considerable increase in the power
of global hurricanes ever since the 1970 s. The Poles are losing more and more of their ice in the
summer months, the North Pole loses almost all of it, glaciers are receding globally, and there is a
noticeable increase in the rising of the oceans...that s only the beginning! Each

Emily Dickinson Recluse
Emily Dickinson was famously known for being a recluse, a questioner of her faith, and having an
interesting poetic form. Throughout her works she displayed themes of immortality, life, and death.
Harold Bloom, a literary critic, once stated her themes were either relatable or inventive for the time
she lived in (Grabner, Hagenbuchle, and Miller 191). These themes crossed over into how she wanted
her writing to be perceived with both her style and technique. She used dramatic dialogic structure and
a constant persona that always questioned her existence. Dickinson s style was mostly influenced by
her, willingness to serve, her different point of view of nature, extreme self discipline, and the
contemplation of immortality (Connors 92). Although she was able to perfectly master the art of
poetry, her life as recluse deeply affected the process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harold Bloom, an American literary critic, summarized Dickinson s ability as a writer in one sentence:
Her unique transport, her Sublime, is founded upon her unnaming of all our certitudes into so many
blanks; it gives her, and her authentic readers, another way to see, almost into the dark (Grabner,
Hagenbuchle, and Miller 192). Dickinson s inspiration was her own doubt in her faith and existence.
Through that she found meaning in her life and discovered the immortality of the soul. She became
comfortable with the idea of death because to her it wasn t an ending; it was the beginning. Her life as
recluse only put more focus on the existential problems she tried to answer. After her death her poems
grew in popularity, and her message was spread all over the world. She inspires many people like the
composers who made art songs and the weekly churchgoer that finds strength in her poems. No matter

The Bells Tone
Edgar Allan Poe s theme in The Bells is the four stages of a person s life. The silver bell is appropriate
for childhood, the golden bell is the one for youth and the maturing for marriage. The brazen bell
represents the harsh and dangers of middle age, and the iron bell is suited to old age because of its
heavy and melancholy tone and also because it is associated with the funeral knell. (Litfinder)
In the first stanza, Poe never directly says the bells are Christmas bells, he uses the words tinkle, icy
air, and jingling, to let the reader know that he is describing Christmas. He uses repetition of words
like rhyme and time to give the reader an overall mood of happy (Poetry for student s pg. 47). He does
this because this stanza ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poe provides a visual image and an association with a thing of value by referring to the bells as golden
(pg.48). He describes the night as balmy which gives a soothing and mild feeling instead of the harsh
use of icy in the first stanza (pg.48). Poe s world usage and repetition help the reader realize that this
is a joyous mood. This stanza symbolizes maturing, starting a family, and growing older.
The third stanza takes a dramatic turn and is dark and gloomy. The third stanza is describing the chaos
of a fire and the desperate sound of the fire alarm. Poe uses personification to describe the fire. He
says that fire has a desire to climb so high that it can sit next to the pale faced moon (pg.49).
Previously in the poem the repetition of bells was an upbeat and happy, but now he is using it to create
a sense of urgency and panic (pg.49).
The final stanza is the saddest and depressing in the poem. In this stanza Poe is describing a person s
funeral. The bells are now black and made of iron and the sound is illustrated as melancholy and as a
groan. Poe uses personification in the phrase rust within their throats (line 69) to describe the bells
having a thick raspy voice. He also uses repetition by repeating Keeping time, time, time, in a sort of
runic rhyme (line 92, 96, 101) to create a creepy and disturbing feeling among the

Both of these approaches would pave the way for Hamas seemingly bipolar tenure in Palestine. By the
1970 s, the Palestinian population was disillusioned by secularism, Westernization and materialism,
and many looked toward the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic revival as an alternative . A drastic
turn of events led to niche in Palestine that a more violent facet of the Muslim Brotherhood was
willing to fill. Since the 1950 s, the Muslim Brotherhood complemented the spiritual services
provided in mosques with social and welfare services, delivered through a network of clinics, schools,
charities, drug treatment centers, and even sports clubs . However, since 1988, with the onset of the

the first and second intifada, Hamas inspired the greater Palestinian public to support violent means to

dedicated more time towards their social roots, ultimately increasing their grassroots support. During

The Transformation of E. coli using the plasmid GFP
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to observe bacterial growth under various conditions including the
transformation of bacteria; to understand how the process of transformation occurs.
Background Information: Transformation is the process by which the genetic material carried by an
individual cell is altered by the incorporation of foreign (exogenous) DNA into its genome
(MedicineNet.com, Definition of Genetic transformation ). Transformation in bacterial cells occurs
when the cell incorporates DNA into its genetic material. Bacteria cells that have the ability to take up
DNA are called competent. In a lab setting, this is encouraged by placing the mixtures of
transformation solution and plasmid DNA on ice, then rapidly transferring them to a hot water bath for
about fifty seconds, and then placing them back on ice again. This procedure is called heat shock and
increases the permeability of the cell membrane to DNA. The agent which the new genetic material is
incorporated into is the bacterial plasmid. A plasmid is a circular deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)
molecule that replicates independently of the bacterial chromosome and often permits a bacteria to
gain resistance to an antibiotic. Recombinant plasmids are those which have DNA from two or more
sources incorporated into a single plasmid. To make recombinant plasmids, two different plasmids are
cut with the same

Case Study On Burpple
Case study on burpple: A social food recommendation startup Introduction Launched on May 9 2012,
Burpple, a Singapore based social food guide, received popular support and quickly became one of
Asia s leading food recommendation startup. Burpple has hence been awarded the Top 100 Startups of
Asia by Open Web Asia 2012 and is currently being used in over 115 countries around the world.
Background This innovation of Burpple came about with Elisha Ong and Dixon Chan, who went on a

emphasis on user engagement has build its user community with over 200,000 monthly users, which
provides a large consumer base to attract food businesses to collaborate with Burpple. As such,
Burpple gained its revenue by setting up a local business owners network, which signed up more than
200 local food business owners to assist in developing their businesses. One way in which Burpple has
done so is through customization of the application to publicize the restaurants menu choices and
promotions to the existing user community, which allows companies to gain ownership of a marketing
tool at more affordable cost with higher chance of outreaching to the consumers. Summary From a
simple daily life problem of requiring good food recommendations, Burpple, a successful startup has
been developed. Precise steps taken in its development and commercialisation and the good
management of user and customer based developments has aided in its rapid growth. In a market
expected to thrive well on further advanced smartphone technology, Burpple can be seen to do well if
it continues to adapt well to the users and customers

The Federal Trade Commission
Research
The Federal trade commission or called the FTC was created in 1914. The Federal Trade Commission
Act is the act that started this commission and its purpose was to prevent unfair methods of
competition in commerce as a part of the battle to bust the trusts. They also did this act to enhance the
informed consumer choice and public understanding of this competitive process; and another reason
was to accomplish this without the unduly burdening of legitimate business activity. The FTC deals
with issues that do with the touchline of pretty much every American in the USA. These guys from the

Life Changing Moment
On July 4, 2012 I was playing lacrosse in Daytona Beach, Florida with my best friend waiting for
someone to order pizza for us. A friend of my friend s family, a few years older than us, brought his
surfboard with him and asked us if we would want to try surfing out before dinner gets there. We were
both athletic kids and never tried surfing before, being that we were from Ohio, so we jumped at the
opportunity to try it. I was first to try riding a wave, and I was able to stand up and successfully ride it
all the way in to shore. My friend tried after and he was also successful his first attempt. This
continued as we rode 9 10 more waves in, when we got bored we both said we were going to ride one
more wave in, then be done. Little did I know my life changing moment was approaching. I stood up
and rode the wave in just like all of the times before. The ocean wind was blowing in my face as the
surfboard was gliding over the water. As I approached the shore the board slightly started to turn as I
lost my balance and went plunging into the water. The top of my head impacted the ocean floor first,
leaving me immediately paralyzed from the neck down, unable to move any part of my body.
The initial shock left me in panic, I couldn t move my body or feel what was going on. I was left face
down in the water not knowing if my friend, or the other kid we were with would know that I was in
trouble before it was too late. Over a minute passed, which felt like hours, and I started

Factory Farmed Animals Summary
In his article Puppies, Pigs, and People Eating and Marginal Cases , Norcross makes the argument that
buying factory raised meat and eating it can be morally compared to obtaining puppies and torturing
them to extract cocoamone hormone for gustatory pleasure. He also states that meat eaters that come
to this realization should turn vegetarian. According to people who disagree with Norcross, they argue
the fact that factory farmed animals are not puppies, most consumers do not torture or kill the factory
farmed meat, and becoming vegetarian will not really make an impact and prevent animal suffering. If
majority of the US population switched their diet to become vegetarian, there would be less animal
suffering and would lead to a big impact

Description Of The Red Kangaroo
Describing Movement The Red Kangaroo
Introduction
The Red Kangaroo Macropus rufus is the largest of the marsupial family residing across the deserts
and grasslands of Australia (SDZG, 2011). The Red Kangaroo is a herbivorous species with an
unusual method of locomotion, hopping, also known as saltatory locomotion; hopping is unique to
members of the kangaroo and wallaby family (Dawson, 1995). A red kangaroo is capable of hopping
at speeds of 30mph using its muscular hind legs to propel and tail as counterbalance and support
(Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2010). The kangaroo s body and musculoskeletal structure of large
hindlimbs and short forelimbs has evolved to adapt to its hopping gait. Ancestors of the species were
quadrupedal, the only exception to this evolutionary change is the smaller Musky Rat Kangaroo
Hypsiprymnodon moschatus which still uses a quadrupedal plantigrade gait (Richardson, 2012).
Why Hopping?
It is commonly known that Australia is a large country, and with a total of 7,692,024 km2, it is the
sixth largest country in the world (GA, 2014). Considering most of the land is arid, there is a limited
amount of resources readily available for the grazing kangaroo, so it is necessary for it to be able to
travel far distances efficiently to reach water before dehydrating. Kangaroos are prey animals, with the
main predator being the Dingo with additional predation coming from commercial shooting for human
consumption (Dawson, 1995), the Red Kangaroo has

What Is Privacy Or Improper Use Of Privacy
Concerns about privacy emerge when use of cellphones or improper use of social media gets out of
hand. Based on the article by Nancy Spector and Dawn M. Kappel, breach of privacy or
confidentiality against patients are the most egregious errors that nurses can make when posting on
social media (Spector Kappel, 2012). All patient information must be kept confidential because
everyone has the right to be treated with both dignity and respect. Any violation of a patient s privacy
whether intentional or unintentional is a serious act that must be addressed immediately. It does not
only damage the nurse s credibility and relationship with the patient, but also affects the overall
quality of care given. Additionally, nurses and other healthcare professionals may face disciplinary
action, drastic consequences, and/or legal charges once held accountable. I have decided to pick
scenario #3 as my scenario ending. It describes how I went on Facebook during my day off and talked
about the night when I had to work and did not really feel as bad because I personally met the lead
singer Jerod from the concert that I had missed. After taking his photograph, I carelessly posted his
picture on Facebook and Instagram thinking that no one would recognize him in the first place. Not
realizing the consequences of my actions, I would find, in retrospect, that I was sightless of the
possible harm that I m about to inflict on my patient. The dangers of using Facebook and/or other

North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
The North American Free Trade Agreement was formed on January 1, 1994 with the final provisions
being fully implemented as of January 1, 2008. The agreement is meant to eliminate a majority of the
trade barriers, as well as invest in the three member nations: Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
NAFTA is viewed as one of the most successful trade agreements in history and has helped provide
increases in agricultural trade, as well as investments between the three member countries. The
purpose of the North American Free Trade Agreement is to eliminate trade barriers, which is mostly
done by eliminating a number of non tariff measures that affect agricultural trade between Canada, ...

(WTO) General Agreement on Tariffs Trade (GATT)
The World Trade Organization was formed on January 1, 1995 however; its trade system is almost 50
years older. Since 1948, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) had provided the rules
for the system. The main purpose for the World Trade Organization is to offer a forum for negotiation
of trade between member Governments. The bulk of these agreements came from the 1986 1994
Uruguay Round negotiations, as well as from the GATT. Currently, the WTO is host to a new set of
negotiations under the Doha Development Agenda launched in 2001. At the center of the WTO, are
the agreements reached between the majorities of the world s trading nations. These documents
provide legal guidelines (and rules) for international commerce and general business. These
agreements are ultimately viewed as contracts, binding the participating governments to keeping their
trade policies within agreed limits. The system s overriding purpose is to help trade flow freely for the
economic development and well being of participating governments and their countries. The General
Agreement on Tariffs and Trade was first signed in 1948, although some sources say 1947 (the year
the idea was conceived). This agreement is designed to provide an international

Winston Churchill As A Prime Minister Of England
Sir Winston Churchill is well known for being the Prime Minister of England who led the country
through World War II and played a major role in ending the war. However, it is his internal battles that
give us far more insight into who Churchill really was. His personal struggle, possibly with bipolar
disorder, helped shape history and gave Churchill the strength to win the war. The periods of highs and
lows seen throughout Churchill s life indicate the he may have been struggling with Bipolar Disorder
(Type II). Winston Churchill himself has even said that he suffered from the black dog of depression
over the course of his life (Rubin, 2003). However, given his periods of hyperactivity it s very likely
that Churchill was actually battling bipolar II disorder. Instead letting his mental disorder control him,
Churchill overcame his bipolar disorder, and used this inspiration to lead his nation out of war.
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (the DSM V),
Bipolar II disorder is characterized by a clinical course of recurring mood episodes consisting of one
or more major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode. During the mood episode(s),
the requisite number of symptoms must be present most of the day, nearly every day, and represent a
noticeable change from usual behavior and functioning (APA, 2013). Essentially, Bipolar II Disorder
is characterized by hypomanic and depressive episodes throughout a person s

Humpback Whale Definition
Rescuers on Sunday morning were planning to spare a child humpback whale that got stranded only
20 feet from West Seattle shore, yet endeavors fizzled and the youthful one died, reports say.
The 30 foot adolescent humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) was discovered caught in the
shallows close West Seattle s Fauntleroy Ferry dock in the small hours of the morning on August 7.
That day, several individuals rushed to the ship terminal and endeavored to help in protecting the
stranded creature, as indicated by a report from King5 News.
Tragically, endeavors were futile. A representative from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA) says that the child humpback whale kicked the bucket hours after the fact.
What was the deal?
Lynne Barre, an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers have yet to decide the reason for the creature s demise, however tissue tests have been
taken. The youthful one s body was secured with whale lice, a sign of weakness, agents say.
Then, Huggins says authorities were unrealistic to choose whether to tow the well evolved creature to
somewhere else for a full necropsy or the tissue tests taken would suffice for an examination.
There are heaps of logistics required in doing an examination, says Huggins.
Barre says it is not exceptional to see humpback whales in Puget Sound on the grounds that the
populace has become in the course of recent years.
Indeed, even along these lines, NOAA s National Marine Fisheries Service suggests that a few
sections of the whale populace in the Northwest Pacific ought to be recorded as debilitated.
Barre says sightings of humpback whales have turned out to be less uncommon than they used to be,
however it is still unordinary to discover live whales get stranded.
In June, a 35 foot humpback whale was discovered dead in the Bremerton ship, yet a full necropsy did
not unveil the explanation behind its

Life Is Like The Stanzas Of A Poem
Life is a Poem
Life is like the stanzas of a poem. Anne Sexton is unlike any other poets, her life, not only influences
her poems, but her poems are part of her life. Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Baby picture, and Music
Swims Back To Me are three examples in which sexton describes her life as poems. The troubled
childhood and the depressed adulthood of Anne Sexton lead to the depressed and dark nature of her
writing.
Trauma from the abused childhood brought about the depressed nature of her poems. In Briar Rose
(Sleeping Beauty), Anne sexton describes the troubled nature of her childhood.
I was forced backward.
I was forced forward.
Each night I am nailed into place. (st.7,line 5 7.9)
That feeling of being forced and helpless. Being drained of life by the one who was supposed to keep
her safe cannot be forgotten, if we try to ignore the feeling it will just eat you inside. Sexton unlike
others did not try to forget it but embraced it into her poems as a way of treating her depression. She
said it aloud to the world in the form of her poems. This depression took the form of words and is an
important element of sexton s work. Like in the first stanza when Sexton was hypnotized and taken
when she was 2, and then to the seemingly loving sound of her father:
Little doll child, come here to Papa.
Sit on my knee.
I have kisses for the back of your neck. (st.1, line 15 19)
But the meaning becomes very clear as the poem progresses.
Although, Sexton s poetry is mainly sad and

Lifetime Show Analysis
Back in the summer of 2015, I was directed to a new Lifetime show called UnREAL, and because one
of my favorite actors, Brennan Elliott, was going to be on it, I knew I had to be an active member of
the audience. Although I was aware that I was leaping out of my comfort zone to watch this show, I
didn t plan on becoming quite so invested in the characters and the storyline that I anticipated season
two (and soon, season three) with great delectation. What began as a sort of grandstand for Host
Graham evolved into so much more. In the role of the devious, manipulative Chet, I was introduced to
the stupendous work of Craig Bierko. Due to our busy schedules, we only recently had the opportunity
to exchange a simpe Q A, and I am so grateful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While many actors may often wonder if their fans will find their story entertaining, I rarely find a tale
that doesn t resonate with the fans, myself included, to some degree. And in the case of Craig, that is
precisely the case. I never would have pegged him as a musical sort of person (I am still in the early
stages of my exploration of the works of this multi talented guy), and there is no doubt from the
detailing of his roles, his work and his outlook on his life and career that he is humble, pragmatic and
benevolent. He doesn t see himself as a superstar, and in that case, he appears to be the antithesis of
this resplendently disreputable character he plays on UnREAL. I am always convinced that shows that
receive such wide acclaim must have a core group of cast and crew that dispose of their egos, labor
without complaint, and become a sort of extended family. Viewers constantly connect with shows in
which the people portraying the roles are genuine and down to earth, and it would appear that Craig is
all that and more. His explantion of how he approaches his character was a delcious description for me
to savor, and it is clear that he knows what his role is within the production, and he does it darn well! I
would invite everyone to check out Craig at all the links below, and even if UnREAL is not your cup
of tea, consider checking

Routes to Persuasion Essay
pain and crevecoeur Persuasion is the force exerted to influence behavior that includes a reflected
change in attitude. Everyday we are bombarded with messagesfrom people who wish to influence our
behavior and attitudes. Persuasion canbe used to accomplish good as well as bad, though, in my paper
I willrefrain from making value judgements and only report the factual aspects. I will discuss the two
basic routes to persuasion, the elements involved, andways to protect current attitudes and behaviors
from change. When trying to persuade someone, there are two different methods from which to
choose the central and peripheral routes. The central route persuades by usingdirect arguments and
pertinent information. The peripheral route ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An attractive communicator has certain qualities, like physical appeal and similarity, that draw in
theaudience. If the arguments of the attractive speaker are more readily accepted, central route
persuasion has occurred or if we are persuaded by the unconnected positive association between the
communicator and theproduct there has been peripheral route persuasion. When statements are made
toa group by someone from the same ethnic background, the group is morewilling to listen. It appears
true, the belief that we like people who aresimilar to us and if we like someone we are more open to
their suggestions. The second element of persuasion, the content of the message, deals with the
specific type of messages that work best to convince. Emotional messages are most effective on less
educated people, while rational appeals tendto score better with analytical or well educated people.
Discrepancybetween the message and receiver opinion oftee effects whether persuasionoccurs. A
credible communicator is most effective when arguing an extreme position and someone who is not
viewed as credible is best off giving a viewpoint where there is a moderate discrepancy.
Communicators must decidewhether to put forth a one sided or two sided appeal. One sided appeals
work bestwith those who already agree. Two sided appeals work best with people who are initially
opposed to your idea. Also

  • 3. The Morning After for Mokuba Kaiba It is a beautiful Morning in domino city, the sun was shining and birds were singing. People were making their way to work, chatting on cell phones with business calls, or chatting and gossiping with friends. Teens and children were chatting with one another on the way to school. For Mokuba Kaiba, it wasn t such a great morning. He was extremely nervous, because last night Serenity, Joey Wheelers little sister, had given up her virginity to him. If Seto, his older brother found out he had sex, he would kill him. As for Joey, he didn t know that Serenity was even dating. He would surely kill Mokuba for taking his baby sisters virginity. Mokuba swallowed down his nervousness, deciding to at least tell Joey he made love to his girlfriend. He quickly walked into Domino high school, searching for his blond hot headed friend. When he spotted him at the lockers, he swallowed his nervousness and walked up to him. Joey, Can I talk to you about something? He asked nervously. Um sure squirt, what you want to talk about? Joey obviously had been startled, not expecting Mokuba to appear suddenly. I do not want Seto to know The raven haired teen informed him. Hearing this, Joey became concerned. It made him think Mokuba had gotten himself into some real trouble. Okay what is it squirt, are you in trouble? Mokuba s eyes widened slightly, realizing how it would have looked to his blond friend. No I have a girlfriend Joey raised an eyebrow at this, confused why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Did Fermi Contribute To The Development Of The Atomic... Enrico Fermi and the Development of the Atomic Bomb The 20th century saw many important discoveries which impacted people worldwide. Great discoveries were made in the realm of science and technology which lead to the atomic age. One of the leading pioneers in the area of physics was Enrico Fermi. Without his contributions, the atomic bomb may not have been developed or would have possibly been postponed. Enrico Fermi was born into a family who had enough money to live comfortably. Fermi was born in Rome on the 29th of September,1901, the son of Alberto Fermi, a Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Communications, and Ida de Gattis (Mawson 12). He progressed so quickly, guided by an engineer, that his competition essay was judged worthy of a doctoral examination (10). His family had enough money to send him to college but he was still able to get scholarships for his academic achievement. He won a fellowship of the Scuola Normale Superiore in 1918. He spent four years at the University of Pisa, gaining his doctoral degree in physics in 1922 #8230; (12). He was even teaching his teachers there by 1920. While still an undergraduate, Fermi worked out his first theory of permanent value to physics. He also attended the Universities of Rome, Leiden and Gottingen. His only setback was a period of post doctoral study in Germany in 1923 among such talents such as Wolfgang Pauli and Werner Heisenberg when his talents went unrecognized (154). He preferred simplicity and concreteness rather than pretension and the philosophic German style. J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theorist, later described Fermi as not a philosopher and unable to let things be foggy. He had a passion for clarity. After Fermi graduated, he went straight to work. He began teaching at different universities. He taught at the University of Florence from 1924 to 1926 and at the University of Rome from 1927 to 1938 (Epstein 87). • 5. Clarke s Cosmological Argument On The Existence Of God Clarke s Cosmological argument has been around for multiple centuries the purpose of this argument being to try to prove the existence of God. Although this argument sounds valid meaning that IF premises 1 and 2 are true, then the conclusion must be true while many people have accepted this argument, it has also caused a lot of questioning and skepticism, mainly because of what the Cosmological Argument uses to support its argument the Principle of Sufficient reason. Before determining whether the PSR effectively supports Clarke s Cosmological argument, one must know the Cosmological Argument s premises and what they mean. Premise 1 of Clarke s Cosmological Argument asserts that every being is either dependent or independent meaning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if you see a dog at a veterinary, you know that the dog exists due to its parents (component 1 of the Principle of Sufficient Reason). You also know that there is an explanation for the dog being at the veterinary: the dog might be sick or is going to go through a medical procedure (component 2 of the Principle of Sufficient Reason). Although the Principle of Sufficient Reason seems to be straight forward it is heavily questioned and fails to effectively support Clarke s Cosmological arguments for many reasons, one of them being its failure to think about or recognize Brute Facts. Brute Facts are things that can t be explained; in this case, the inability to explain the existence of a being. An example of a Brute Fact is God, since his existence can t be explained but his existence is considered to be true by many people. Although it has not been explicitly confirmed that Brute Facts actually exist, the Principle of Sufficient Reason and its premises fails to acknowledge the possibility of Brute facts existing, therefore making the PSR to be less certain and accepted since it requires that everything has to have an explanation. This failure to acknowledge Brute Facts by the PSR also makes it a weak argument, therefore also making it not effectively support Clarke s Cosmological Argument. In addition to ... However, these breakthroughs have caused this rapid growth to come to an end. This was a great opportunity for Compaq to enter the market and prosper using retail dealers to reach customers. African American women generally have mistrust for therapists or a fear for being stigmatized when being treated for mental illness or AOD disorders. Unfortunatly, almost 25% or 7.5 million African Americans have been diagnosed with a mental illness (Ward, Clark, Heidrich, 2009, p.1589). The scope of the problem will be discussed in this paper and statistical information will also be provided regarding the African American population. Many African Americans, especially in rural communities, do not seek treatment for psychiatric mental health disorders, including AOD disorders, and when they do seek treatment it is often with primary care providers (Boyd, Berger, Baliko, Tavakoli, 2009, p.383). This paper will provide information regarding the signs and symptoms of addiction and the barriers to treatment for the African American population. The importance of building a rapport and earning trust is essential for retaining the African American population in treatment. Scope of Problem African American women that have substance abuse issues are related to severe problems that may stem from childhood. African American women are more likely to use the most severely addictive drugs and incur the highest rate of drug use related emergencies and alcohol use mortalities (Davis Ancis, 2012, p.662). • 9. Character Analysis OfThe Mill On The Floss The sharp and unruly main character of The Mill on the Floss is Maggie Tulliver. She is a gell gone nine, at the outset of the story, the daughter of the miller Mr. Tulliver, and lives with her family on the banks of the Floss (Eliot 8, 9, 12). When Mr. and Mrs. Tulliver begin discussing the issue of Tom s education in their first conversation of the story, they segue into discussion of his sister. While Mrs. Tulliver derides Maggie for being unsensible, brown skinned, and altogether unlike her side of the family, Mr. Tulliver defends her, saying she s a straight, black eyed wench as anybody need wish to see. I don t know i what she s behind other folks s children; and she can read almost as well as the parson, (Eliot 12). Maggie s parents further describe her physiognomy for the reader later in this conversation. From Mrs. Tulliver s perspective, her daughter s hair exemplifies the issue with Maggie s character. But her hair won t curl all I can do with it... an there s her cousin Lucy s got a row o curls round her head, an not a hair out o place, Mrs. Tulliver frets (Eliot 12, 13). Maggie s mother feels that her daughter is a comical mistake, with her dark, heavy locks, air of a small Shetland pony, and likeness to a Bedlam creature, (Eliot 12, 13). Because of this dissatisfaction, Mrs. Tulliver is forever attempting to make her daughter more similar to herself and to other folks s respectable, curly haired children. Later in the story, Maggie s character is further established by juxtaposition to her brother Tom. Tom Tulliver differs from Maggie not only in appearance, but also in garnering motherly affection: Mrs. Tulliver continually speaks of him with great approbation and pride, greeting him as my sweet lad! on his return from school (Eliot 30). In addition to this contrast in affection, a contrast in physical character is evident between the siblings. Tom is described as a lad with light brown hair, cheeks of cream and roses, full lips, indeterminate nose and eyebrows... the generic character to boyhood, while Maggie is moulded and colored with the most decided intention, a dark eyed, demonstrative, rebellious girl, though it is noted that these physical appearances ... I remember learning about Native Americans and the way they survived in the wild. I was amazed to learn about them and the tools they made as well. The baskets, fishing, and use of acorns for food. We were able to learn about the importance of knowing of those who came before us. Also, about the close knit families they had and traditions. The historically aspect of it was very interesting because they were people that were very different from the culture we knew. The aha moment came by visiting Pioneer Village because I was amazed that we can see and touch a replica of those times. I realized that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During my time in school, there were many great field trips and I am aware that not all schools have the same funding. Therefore, I could only imagine all the effort it took to find a location at Morro Bay and plan a trip to Pioneer Village. First, the teacher must have planned the lessons that could coincide with the trip. Students will then be able to experience everything they had learned in the classroom. Before proceeding with the lessons, days before a field trip, teachers must get clearance and get permission slips from parents. Also, a teacher must figure out if there is funding from the school. I would imagine that the opportunity would be presented from the school administrators because there were other classes from our school who went as well to both field trips. Therefore, teachers may have collaborated in regards to the lessons and making the trips happen amongst each other. In order for students to be prepared for the trip, I would have made sure the students learned what they were going to experience. For instance, we were aware of how the acorns were crushed; therefore, we were excited to crush them in the same manner we learned that Natives did. For the ocean trip, students must learn safety precautions because they could slip on the rocks. Teachers must be attentive and helpful to the student s needs and question while at the location to ensure they understand the meaning of their surroundings. The two field trips were a great ... Granted most people that commute from Madison to Milwaukee of vice versa aren t doing it every day. They are generally just doing it once in a while. The technology of high speed rails is relatively simple; it consists of magnetic tracks repelling the train with a polar opposite magnet on the bottom. This creates a surface with little friction; therefore the train can go faster. A lot of factors come into play when the state thinks of funding this. Governor Walker rejected the funds and cancelled the project in 2010, but there are people that sill have hope. The cost of operation is in the millions per ... The funds were reallocated to other states ( Wisconsin and Ohio ). For many the hope for high speed rail in the near future in Wisconsin has diminished because of Governor Walker rejected the funds, but Minnesota never stopped planning. Governor walker would have liked to spend the money on other things such as highway systems for the state and other infrastructure. After Wisconsin governor Scott Walker cancelled the funds for the high speed rail program, Minnesota continued planning. They currently are still planning a line from Milwaukee to Minneapolis that would run about 110 mph. Consequentially, it doesn t run through Madison. The route is called the Empire Builder and the state of Minnesota plans to upgrade the line (Ryan). This line wouldn t help commuters between Madison and Milwaukee, but it would make an easy trip from Milwaukee to the Twin Cities. The state of Wisconsin plans to pay around $57,000 of the planning for the line. That is about half, and the plan should be drawn up by the summer of 2014 (Ryan). One major positive effect of it was how the Industrial revolution is how it gave the US the ability to mass produce manufactured goods inside the US which in turn helped the US economy (Doc 5) and (Doc 3). It boosted the economy, because it increased the amount of people buying things from the US because it was making a lot of products and it increased trade within. A second positive effect on the US was how big businesses and manufacturers in cities would sometimes try to help the community it s in by building houses and renting them out for cheap and it would employ many people so the size and population of the community would increase, therefore increasing the diversity of it (Doc 2). Since the owner would employ many and the rent was cheap, the workers and their families might have a chance to, if the money is used wisely, increase in amount of money they have and possibly leave and be higher in the social classes because of the industrial revolution. Indeed, the distinctive writing style of the novel may make one feel reminded of a real conversation due to the many interruptions and digressions, which are typical of human face to face interaction and which occasionally make it more difficult for the reader to follow the storyline. Although literary researchers have already examined these particular visual elements, they have not done so in terms of their recipients. For my analysis, it is important to distinguish between the narratee, the implied reader, and the actual reader: According to Jahn, the narratee is the narrator s fictional addressee (cf. In seeing so many variations of the Mona Lisa, such as in print, on television, in movies, printed on t shirts, et cetera, there is a hype that is built up about the original artwork. • 36. Emily Dickinson Recluse Emily Dickinson was famously known for being a recluse, a questioner of her faith, and having an interesting poetic form. Throughout her works she displayed themes of immortality, life, and death. Harold Bloom, a literary critic, once stated her themes were either relatable or inventive for the time she lived in (Grabner, Hagenbuchle, and Miller 191). These themes crossed over into how she wanted her writing to be perceived with both her style and technique. She used dramatic dialogic structure and a constant persona that always questioned her existence. Dickinson s style was mostly influenced by her, willingness to serve, her different point of view of nature, extreme self discipline, and the contemplation of immortality (Connors 92). Harold Bloom, an American literary critic, summarized Dickinson s ability as a writer in one sentence: Her unique transport, her Sublime, is founded upon her unnaming of all our certitudes into so many blanks; it gives her, and her authentic readers, another way to see, almost into the dark (Grabner, Hagenbuchle, and Miller 192). Dickinson s inspiration was her own doubt in her faith and existence. Through that she found meaning in her life and discovered the immortality of the soul. She became comfortable with the idea of death because to her it wasn t an ending; it was the beginning. Her life as recluse only put more focus on the existential problems she tried to answer. After her death her poems grew in popularity, and her message was spread all over the world. She inspires many people like the composers who made art songs and the weekly churchgoer that finds strength in her poems. No matter what, the effect Emily Dickinson has had on us as readers, as people, as skeptics, as religion seekers will always be with us. Her influence is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The visual representation of police officers in films can alter a person s understanding of the law enforcement. Police officers are portrayed by two sides; good or bad. The movie I will be closely analyzing is called Training Day. This movie depicts many topics we have covered throughout this course. The movie directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by David Ayer, was released on October 5, 2001. This movie follows two Los Angeles Police Department officers. The neighborhood gangsters then shot at the officers. Detective Harris is repeatedly putting both of their lives in danger. Later in the day, they met with more corrupt cops. The conversation was to discuss the issue between the Russian Mafia and Detective Harris. The Russian Mafia was going to kill Detective Harris unless he pays them 1 million dollars or he will be killed. This situation was the result of Detective Harris killing one of their members. The final draw was seizing four million dollars from Roger s house by using an arrest warrant that had to be purchased. Roger was a retired officer and now drug a dealer. He was also Harris s first training officer. Four other narcotics officers were involved. The plan was to take the money and kill Rogers. All the guys agreed, except Hoyt. Harris killed Rodger and shot at the other guy to make it looked staged. Hoyt did not have a choice in the matter as he and his family were threatened. After, they went to a house which belonged to a Mexican mafia. Harris planned to get Hoyt killed. The leader of the house was going to kill Hoyt, but first had someone check his pockets for money. It turned out, Hoyt kept the wallet of the girl he protected earlier that day. Ironically, the girl was the leader s cousin. Surviving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Bells Tone Edgar Allan Poe s theme in The Bells is the four stages of a person s life. The silver bell is appropriate for childhood, the golden bell is the one for youth and the maturing for marriage. The brazen bell represents the harsh and dangers of middle age, and the iron bell is suited to old age because of its heavy and melancholy tone and also because it is associated with the funeral knell. (Litfinder) In the first stanza, Poe never directly says the bells are Christmas bells, he uses the words tinkle, icy air, and jingling, to let the reader know that he is describing Christmas. He uses repetition of words like rhyme and time to give the reader an overall mood of happy (Poetry for student s pg. 47). He does this because this stanza ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poe provides a visual image and an association with a thing of value by referring to the bells as golden (pg.48). He describes the night as balmy which gives a soothing and mild feeling instead of the harsh use of icy in the first stanza (pg.48). Poe s world usage and repetition help the reader realize that this is a joyous mood. This stanza symbolizes maturing, starting a family, and growing older. The third stanza takes a dramatic turn and is dark and gloomy. The third stanza is describing the chaos of a fire and the desperate sound of the fire alarm. Poe uses personification to describe the fire. He says that fire has a desire to climb so high that it can sit next to the pale faced moon (pg.49). Previously in the poem the repetition of bells was an upbeat and happy, but now he is using it to create a sense of urgency and panic (pg.49). The final stanza is the saddest and depressing in the poem. In this stanza Poe is describing a person s funeral. The bells are now black and made of iron and the sound is illustrated as melancholy and as a groan. Poe uses personification in the phrase rust within their throats (line 69) to describe the bells having a thick raspy voice. He also uses repetition by repeating Keeping time, time, time, in a sort of runic rhyme (line 92, 96, 101) to create a creepy and disturbing feeling among the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Islamic Resistance Movement, also known as al Harakah al Muqawama al Islamiya (Hamas), has proven to be an extremely agile and capable terrorist organization in Palestine. By the 1970 s, the Palestinian population was disillusioned by secularism, Westernization and materialism, and many looked toward the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic revival as an alternative . A drastic turn of events led to niche in Palestine that a more violent facet of the Muslim Brotherhood was willing to fill. Since the 1950 s, the Muslim Brotherhood complemented the spiritual services provided in mosques with social and welfare services, delivered through a network of clinics, schools, charities, drug treatment centers, and even sports clubs . However, since 1988, with the onset of the fist intifada, Hamas has followed an oscillatory pattern of violence and social charitable work. During the first and second intifada, Hamas inspired the greater Palestinian public to support violent means to incite change in the region. Conversely, during the Oslo peace process, when the majority of Palestinians did not condone the level of violence that was seen during the first intifada, Hamas dedicated more time towards their social roots, ultimately increasing their grassroots support. During these lulls in violence with Israel, Hamas successfully institutionalized Islamism in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Coli Jack Dildabanian Ms. Buckley Genetics 11/6/15 The Transformation of E. coli using the plasmid GFP Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to observe bacterial growth under various conditions including the transformation of bacteria; to understand how the process of transformation occurs. Background Information: Transformation is the process by which the genetic material carried by an individual cell is altered by the incorporation of foreign (exogenous) DNA into its genome (MedicineNet.com, Definition of Genetic transformation ). Transformation in bacterial cells occurs when the cell incorporates DNA into its genetic material. Bacteria cells that have the ability to take up DNA are called competent. In a lab setting, this is encouraged by placing the mixtures of transformation solution and plasmid DNA on ice, then rapidly transferring them to a hot water bath for about fifty seconds, and then placing them back on ice again. This procedure is called heat shock and increases the permeability of the cell membrane to DNA. The agent which the new genetic material is incorporated into is the bacterial plasmid. A plasmid is a circular deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecule that replicates independently of the bacterial chromosome and often permits a bacteria to gain resistance to an antibiotic. Recombinant plasmids are those which have DNA from two or more sources incorporated into a single plasmid. To make recombinant plasmids, two different plasmids are cut with the same ... A friend of my friend s family, a few years older than us, brought his surfboard with him and asked us if we would want to try surfing out before dinner gets there. We were both athletic kids and never tried surfing before, being that we were from Ohio, so we jumped at the opportunity to try it. I was first to try riding a wave, and I was able to stand up and successfully ride it all the way in to shore. My friend tried after and he was also successful his first attempt. • 45. Description Of The Red Kangaroo Describing Movement The Red Kangaroo Introduction The Red Kangaroo Macropus rufus is the largest of the marsupial family residing across the deserts and grasslands of Australia (SDZG, 2011). The Red Kangaroo is a herbivorous species with an unusual method of locomotion, hopping, also known as saltatory locomotion; hopping is unique to members of the kangaroo and wallaby family (Dawson, 1995). A red kangaroo is capable of hopping at speeds of 30mph using its muscular hind legs to propel and tail as counterbalance and support (Marshall Cavendish Corporation, 2010). The kangaroo s body and musculoskeletal structure of large hindlimbs and short forelimbs has evolved to adapt to its hopping gait. Ancestors of the species were quadrupedal, the only exception to this evolutionary change is the smaller Musky Rat Kangaroo Hypsiprymnodon moschatus which still uses a quadrupedal plantigrade gait (Richardson, 2012). Why Hopping? It is commonly known that Australia is a large country, and with a total of 7,692,024 km2, it is the sixth largest country in the world (GA, 2014). Considering most of the land is arid, there is a limited amount of resources readily available for the grazing kangaroo, so it is necessary for it to be able to travel far distances efficiently to reach water before dehydrating. Kangaroos are prey animals, with the main predator being the Dingo with additional predation coming from commercial shooting for human consumption (Dawson, 1995), the Red Kangaroo has ... Based on the article by Nancy Spector and Dawn M. All patient information must be kept confidential because everyone has the right to be treated with both dignity and respect. Any violation of a patient s privacy whether intentional or unintentional is a serious act that must be addressed immediately. It does not only damage the nurse s credibility and relationship with the patient, but also affects the overall quality of care given. Additionally, nurses and other healthcare professionals may face disciplinary action, drastic consequences, and/or legal charges once held accountable. Winston Churchill As A Prime Minister Of England Sir Winston Churchill is well known for being the Prime Minister of England who led the country through World War II and played a major role in ending the war. However, it is his internal battles that give us far more insight into who Churchill really was. His personal struggle, possibly with bipolar disorder, helped shape history and gave Churchill the strength to win the war. The periods of highs and lows seen throughout Churchill s life indicate the he may have been struggling with Bipolar Disorder (Type II). Winston Churchill himself has even said that he suffered from the black dog of depression over the course of his life (Rubin, 2003). However, given his periods of hyperactivity it s very likely that Churchill was actually battling bipolar II disorder. Instead letting his mental disorder control him, Churchill overcame his bipolar disorder, and used this inspiration to lead his nation out of war. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (the DSM V), Bipolar II disorder is characterized by a clinical course of recurring mood episodes consisting of one or more major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode. During the mood episode(s), the requisite number of symptoms must be present most of the day, nearly every day, and represent a noticeable change from usual behavior and functioning (APA, 2013). Anne Sexton is unlike any other poets, her life, not only influences her poems, but her poems are part of her life. Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Baby picture, and Music Swims Back To Me are three examples in which sexton describes her life as poems. The troubled childhood and the depressed adulthood of Anne Sexton lead to the depressed and dark nature of her writing. Trauma from the abused childhood brought about the depressed nature of her poems. In Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Anne sexton describes the troubled nature of her childhood. I was forced backward. I was forced forward. Each night I am nailed into place. (st.7,line 5 7.9) That feeling of being forced and helpless. Being drained of life by the one who was supposed to keep her safe cannot be forgotten, if we try to ignore the feeling it will just eat you inside. Sexton unlike others did not try to forget it but embraced it into her poems as a way of treating her depression. She said it aloud to the world in the form of her poems. This depression took the form of words and is an important element of sexton s work. Like in the first stanza when Sexton was hypnotized and taken when she was 2, and then to the seemingly loving sound of her father: Little doll child, come here to Papa. Sit on my knee.
