Summary Of Fear And Suspense In Wells Red Room By G. Wells
Wells uses powerful description of the Red Room to create an atmosphere of fear and suspense. Wells
uses sight/sounds in order to conjure vivid images, fear and suspense. For example, there was a distant
echo to my footsteps forms a clear image of suspense because every noise could be the sound of a
ghost. While the shadow in the alcove at the end of the room is also very good because shadows are
associated with ghosts and sadness. Overall, these two sentences are very powerful examples of fear
and suspense and use precise vocabulary to do so. Wells uses light/darkness in order to conjure vivid
images, fear and suspense. For example, sentinel shadows and watching darknesses amps up the
suspense and fear because of the section watching

Oscar De La Hoya Research Paper
The great boxer, Oscar De La Hoya was born on February 4, 1973 to Cecilia De La Hoya and Joel De
La Hoya, Sr. He was resided in the neighborhoods of East Los Angeles. Oscar was brought up around
violence, Cecilia and Joel did everything they could to keep Oscar from the problems that entered
their neighborhood. Oscar s older brother Joel, Jr. and younger sister Ceci, and himself were always
well behaved and polite. When Oscar was a kid, he was robbed by a gang. The gang put a gun to his
head, Oscar was then forced to give up his leather jacket, wallet, and camera to them. Just hours later,
all the items were returned to him when the gang realized who they had robbed. Oscar s father was a

his busy schedule over the next few years, fighting a total of eighteen times. He made positive
progress in 1993, as he quickly climbed the ranks and turned into as a top boxing star. His biggest
victory came against former champion Troy Dorsey, with a knock out in the first round. Oscar s first
title opportuity came on March 5 1994, against Jimmi Bredahl in Los Angeles for the WBO Super

Loss Of Identity In T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Men
The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot could not be any truer with the messages of modern society. Reading
Hollow Men, the average person can find almost all of the messages applying to modern day times.
Especially in a high school setting. It was obvious that Eliot was far ahead of his time when he nailed
society on the head about its imperfections. Three messages that Eliot portrays in The Hollow Men
are: the self identity crisis, the loss of faith, and the incredible force of skepticism. In which line does
The Hollow Men show that humans suffer from loss of identity? Well, in lines 31 and 32 he gives a
dark image of how fake people are. Let me also wear such deliberate disguises. (Hollow 31 21) Now,
the descriptive word that Eliot used is deliberate. That means people purposely hid their true selves
from the outside world. In Worland High, countless students wear these deliberate disguises in fear of
the awful judgement that they may receive. However, it is not only students who are cautious. ... Show

Form prayers to broken stone. (Hollow 51) People still pray, but it s to nothing. As in nothing
meaning, they do not truly believe that praying will work. Many children are raised up in a religion,
and think nothing of them. There are followers and then there are religious followers. Religious
followers really believe and have faith in their religion, will the others follow blindly, and could care
less about their religion. Eliot informs his readers about how the majority is only followers and
continue to get worse. In today s modern society, this is very true, Atheists and Agnostic Atheists are
very common. Perhaps it is because of the progression in science proving many religious events to not
be possible. Then again, is this necessarily a good or a bad thing? Everyone is entitled to their one

3.5.2 Price Strategy
a. PG s Pricing Objective – Maximum market share
b. Demand –Generate enough membership to cover the $110K expenses (at least).
c. Costs – Operating Expenses of $110,000 per month
d. Competition price and offerings analysis – For month to month membership pricing, price ranges
between $29.95 (LA Fitness) to $49.95 (Lifetime Fitness) with differing enrollment rates. PG s no
money down rate of $39.95 is lower than all current competitors except LA Fitness. PG s $32.95 / $75
enrollment is lower than all except LA Fitness, which has higher enrollment fee of $99, and PG s
$26.95 / $125 enrollment is the lowest monthly rate. For membership contract plans, PG s one year
prepaid rate equates to $32.95 per month, which is lower than both Bally s ($39.95) and Curves
($39.95), and does not have the high enrollment fees associated.
e. Pricing Method – Going rate pricing
f. Final Price – Maintain price at current level since it is priced competitively with the month to
month competitors and lower than the contract competitors, while having little to no enrollment fees
while offering extra services free of charge, like child care and towel service.
3.5.3 Promotion Strategy

The Importance Of Chons
In Egyptian mythology, Chons (alternately Khensu, Khons, Khonsu or Khonshu) is an ancient lunar
deity, from before formal structure was given to a pantheon. His name reflects the fact that the Moon
(referred to as Iah in Egyptian) travels across the night sky, for it means The Wanderer, and also had
the titles Embracer, Pathfinder, and Defender, as he was thought to watch over night travelers. As the
god of light in the night, Chons was invoked to protect against wild animals, increase male virility,
and to aid with healing. It was said that when Chons caused the crescent moon to shine, women
conceived, cattle became fertile, and all nostrils and every throat was filled with fresh air.
Chons can also be understood to mean king s placenta, and consequently in early times, he was
considered to slay the king s (i.e. the pharaoh s) enemies, and extract their innards for the king s use,
metaphorically creating something resembling a placenta for the king. This bloodthirsty aspect leads
him to be referred to, in such as the Pyramid texts, as the (one who) lives on hearts. He also became
associated with more literal placentas, becoming seen as a deification of the royal placenta, and so a
god involved with childbirth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Minor Characters in Ragged Dick
The Role of Minor Characters in Ragged Dick
It is impossible for the minor characters in Ragged Dick to have a fair chance at being recognized as
decent members of society because of the emphasis Horatio Alger Jr. places on Dick Hunter. The
better qualities of Dick are constantly being reminded to the reader, giving them little room to disagree
with Alger s heroic portrayal of him. Horatio Alger Jr. s preference to homosexuality also reflects his
choice in excluding any useful female characters in his novel. Minor characters lack understanding
from readers because information surrounding them is absent, causing them to be judged on face value
alone. Alger writes Ragged Dick to try and show how respectability can come forth through ... Show

Micky Maguire is another pawn which Alger plays in Ragged Dick in order to make Dick stand out
among the boot blacks and set him above the rest. Micky fits the typical description of a common boot
black in the city during the time in which Ragged
Dick was written. He seems to exemplify expected behaviour of a young boot black by his rough
exterior, involvement in fights, lack of money, and disregard for others including their property. Micky
Maguire is the enemy of the story, and it is clear that the hero must always rise above the bad
characters in order to provide a lesson with the story being told. Dick is known to keep his cool and
remain confident around Micky, even when a fight is breaking out between the two of them (Alger
94). While Micky is indeed a cruel boy as it seems, Dick does bring on some of the taunting himself
because of the cocky manner he upholds when speaking to Micky. Even with Dick being smart
mouthed toward Micky, there is not any sympathy towards Micky in the novel because of his ruffian
ways and rudeness towards Dick. Alger does not give Micky credit for why he acts like this towards
Dick nor does he establish a true reason why Micky turned out to be such a tough street boy. His
childish actions are likely caused by jealously over Dick and not because of sheer hatred (Alger 91).
Micky is not given chances like Dick and whether or not Alger sets it up so that option luck is a
rewarded behaviour,

The Disney Version Of Cinderella And The Grimm Brothers Story
Many people believe that all versions of a fairytale are all the same, unfortunately they are wrong and
these stories have vast differences just like in Pinocchio film from Disney where Jiminy Cricket and
Pinocchio are friends but, in an Italian version Pinocchio kills Jiminy Cricket with a hammer. Another
example of this is the story Cinderella. Cinderella is an iconic fairytale known very well around the
world. The three adaptations that will be specifically looked at are the Little Golden Book Cinderella,
the Grimm Brothers Cinderella , and the 2015 Disney version of Cinderella. The three adaptations of
Cinderella may have many coinciding ideas but they also come alive through their variations, which
include; the theme which drives the plot, the circle archetype, and the perception of the villainous
Stepmother.
As explained in the paragraph above there are subtle and large differences in each tale, one of the
bigger differences and more noticeable changes among each version is theme. Theme is the subject or
moral in a piece of writing, film, or work of art. The version with the most change is the Grimm
Brothers story. Being known for their horrid stories the theme of this version is what you do to other
can be done to you . The Grimm Brothers story has a what comes around goes around ideal to it. The
theme is shown through how awful the Stepsisters treated Cinderella and in the end when the ... older

The Causes And Treatment Of Sepsis
The term sepsis has been around since prehistoric times. Hippocrates presented the word sepsis 2400
years ago to represent a condition where an overwhelming infection leads to tissue breakdown with
rotting, foul odour, and disease. The ancient Roman scholar and writer (116 BC 27 BC), Marcus
Terentius Varro mentioned that small creatures, invisible to the eye, fill the atmosphere, and breathed
through the nose cause dangerous diseases.
In the early 1990s at a conference convened by the American College of Chest Physicians and the
Society of Critical Care Medicine modern definitions of sepsis were termed in detail. At that time,
sepsis was described as a systemic response to a physiologic insult including infections and other
etiologies that lead to the development of further organ injury, ultimately culminating in multiple
organ dysfunction syndromes.
The word bacteraemia is used when bacteria are isolated from the blood whether clinical symptoms
are present or not while the words sepsis or septicaemia is used for the isolation of bacteria in blood in
combination with clinical symptoms and signs of infections.
Neonatal sepsis, also named Sepsis neonatorum , represents to a group of physical and laboratory
findings that occur in response to invasive infection within the first 30 days (neonatal) of life. Criteria
for neonatal sepsis should include documentation of infection in a newborn infant (0 28days) with a
serious systemic illness in which noninfectious

Firstly, Tao Wang is not only the CEO, but also the CTO in DJI, so his time conflict seriously
.sometimes, he has no time to do some more important things and feels that he is lack of energy.
Additionally, some staff in DJI think that Tao Wangs perfectionistic characteristic bring them lots of
pressure ,so they choose to leave DJI.
From my perspective, Tao Wang should hire some experienced managers to assistant him to manage
his employees as well as some specific but less important things. Afterwards, he can have enough time
to focus on planning the further development of DJI. Also, it is suggestive for Tao Wang to engaged
some technical advisers ,so that the DJI can have the better products.
I am firmly convinced that Tao Wang would be more successful if he can improve these

Organic Semiconductors Abstract
Organic semiconductors
Abstract:
This paper covers advantages of organic semiconductors over the conventional one s and also the use
of organic semiconductors and polymers to make OLED s and PLED s.
Introduction:
An organic semiconductor is an organic material with semiconductor properties. They can be divided
into single molecules, oligomers or polymers. Many organic materials are very colorful and these
materials interact very strongly with light. Due to this reason they are used in applications like light
emitting diodes and photo voltaic cells. Although these materials are not intended to replace silicon
based technologies, organic semiconductors can help to realize fully flexible devices for television
displays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. Production: organic materials can be produced with relative ease as compared to conventional
semiconductors as it does not involve the need of high temperatures which requires lot of energy.
6. Encapsulation: organic devices have to be protected from any kind of environmental influences.
Hence they are encapsulated in between two plastic foils other such materials also can be used to
protect them. [1]
Charge transport in organic semiconductors:
Various materials are available that transport either electrons or holes. This distinction does not rely on
the actual ability of materials to transport charges ( ie. On the actual value of charge mobility). But
rather reflects the ease of charge injection from electrodes traditionally used in devices. In that
context, a material is often referred to as a hole [electron] transporter when its ionization energy
[electron affinity] closely matches the Fermi level of the electrode material. Materials that transport
both electrons and holes are also available nowadays these materials are called ambipolar transport
materials.[2]
The charge transport in organic materials is similar to that in the conventional semiconductors, the
charge carriers (electrons or holes) have to overcome the barrier potential formed at the junction of
metal and the semiconductor. The carriers are then injected into the organic semiconductor layer.

The Causes Of Discrimination Against Homosexuals
There are many causes of discrimination against homosexuals in the world today. A homosexual is one
who has sexual relationships with members of the same sex. Worthen states that the majority of
homosexuals believe they were born gay (Worthen, F 2014). This belief often supplies them with
comfort, relieving them of any responsibility to change. However, there is no solid scientific evidence
that people are born homosexual (Worthen, F 2014). Along with outside factors in a person s life, his
own personal choices have played a key role in forming and shaping his homosexual identity, though
few will admit this (Worthen, F 2014). Homosexuals are just ordinary people who happen to love the
same sex. Homosexual discrimination tends to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2011). The issue of gay is at the heart of the human struggle. The decision of two consenting adults to
engage in marital affair should be a personal decision and not the decision of the state (Osbong, Tony

characteristic under federal civil rights law.
Perceptions and stereotypes or another discrimination against homosexuals and it leads to homophobia
and heterosexism. Harmful stereotypes are some of the harshest and most common forms of
discrimination gay s face (Howe, Z 2014). Many people act nervous around gays because they are
perceived to be attracted to every one of the same gender, or they are perceived to be sexual deviants
capable of sexual abuse (Howe, Z 2014). This is simply not the case, and gay people are no more
likely to be sexual abusers than straight people (Howe, Z 2014). But perception is a precarious thing; a
zero tolerance policy has taught men that the way people think of them can change permanently with
one slip, one little kiss or too intimate friendship (Howe, Z 2014). And once lost, it can be nearly
impossible to reclaim (Howe, Z 2014). In Howe s article he talked about a guy who was straight in
high school, hooked up with dudes for the first semester of college. He was then in a monogamous
relationship with a woman for the rest of college; in the weeks before graduation, he would

Child Labour And Child Labor
One of today s and back then s worst concern is the amount of children currently and previously
forced to endure child labour. Child labour affects children mentally and physically, as well as putting
children at risk for abuse from employers. Child labour is an everyday task for as many as 280 million
children. They work on farms, factories, and in sweatshops for extremely low fees; most have little or
no education. Child labour addresses many issues and thoughts such as, dehumanization, the lack of
enforcement of child labour laws which exist in most countries in the world and the social effects of
these uneducated children becoming our future. This essay will show what child labour really is and
how it has and is affecting our world.
Child labor began in the 1900s because many families were in poverty and needed everyone they
could in their family working to bring in a slightly larger income. According to the author Irwin
Yellowitz Children were useful as laborers because their size allowed them to move in small spaces in
factories or mines where adults couldn t fit, children were easier to manage and control and perhaps
most importantly, children could be paid less than adults. As the children worked, they were also not
getting an education. In the 1900s, child labor was not an unusual thing. It was actually pretty
common and part of the modern economy. People did try and reduce the amount of child laborers; it
took a huge stock market collapse to convince the people.

History essay Using these four passages and your own...
History essay Using these four passages and your own knowledge, asses the view that Japan was
driven into war with the western powers in 1941 by American policies. Both interpretations B and D
prove that America was the only driving force that caused a war in the Pacific. The oil embargo that
America enforced in 1940 was an incentive for Japan, a country very reliant on imports of which most
primarily came from America feeding its daily usage of 12,000 tons of oil,to declare war on the
country that was slowing its progress to conquer China. Interpretation B states that moderates and

However American concern for the safety of Asia would ultimately lead to a war in the Pacific and
Japanese hostility was solely to blame. Interpretation D also shows Japan s aggression being sparked
by American decisions. For example America, most of all, stood in the way stood in the way of this
through their control of resources in South East Asia. America s grip on all vital resources in the
Pacific would have driven Japan to war as it was the only alternative to stop America whilst still
keeping control over China. The leading philosophies of the time, assumed that acquiring an empire
provided the basis of prosperity and future national security. This on the other hand contradicts the
interpretation as it presents Japan as an empire with clear instructions on how to achieve wealth
through imperialism. This is shown throughout the passage where by the time the war in China began
in 1937 politicians favouring expansionism were in high offices of state. America is no longer the only
reason that war began as the views of the leaders in 1937 were evidently expansionist. Japan does not
want any relations with America as in the eyes of Japan s leaders that would have entailed a colossal
loss of prestige with incalculable internal consequences. Japan and the US both operated with an
imperialist mindset, but Japan government had mishandled the position they found themselves in

Somali The Somali Banking System
The Somali Banking System

AEDE 4536
21 November 2015
A: Introduction and Problem Description Somalia is a war torn nation in East Africa that has been
systematically affected by political, economic, and social issues for decades. These issues have
profoundly impacted the way that the nation functions as a whole. One of the most significant
economic issues that plagues Somalia today is its lack of an effective central bank, and the general
scarcity of banks throughout the country. The Central Bank of Somalia does exist, but it is essentially
inoperative, as it has no substantial authority and has not officially printed a single bank note since the
1990s1. Currently, the Central Bank of Somalia does not dictate monetary policy whatsoever, and only
conducts surveys as it attempts to reconstruct itself 2. Because of this, counterfeit currency makes up a
sizable proportion of the money in circulation, and most Somalis rely on remittances transferred from
family members abroad to survive. In fact, it is estimated that around 45% of Somalia s economy is
made up of these remittances that come from places like Kenya, Ethiopia, and the United States,
where large populations of Somali refugees and immigrants currently live3.
Not surprisingly, the lack of a banking system has led to currency substitution that appears in many
forms. Some use foreign currency or the plentiful counterfeit bills, while others use money issued by

Tyranny In America
The United States, fighting to not be under England s rule, feared falling back into a monarchy. The
governmental power in America is separated into three different branches or departments of
government, modeled after Greek political ideas. The government was divided in this way to prevent
any one entity from containing all the power. Thusly, keeping any form of a monarchy from coming
into power. The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands,
whether hereditary, self appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of
tyranny. (201 202). Maddison believed the legislative branch was the most powerful of the three
branches. According to him, it alone had the greatest potential

To me, this film is far superior because it had to be better than the first. It s not quite as enjoyable to sit
though because there is a bit more drama in it, but it s a superior film. Every character gets serviced
properly because we all want to know more about the people in it.
Does Groot get a whole back story? Not as much as you d think, but he is the cutest damn thing in the
film. There s a major action part in the film, which has been shown a lot in the trailers, where Gamora
yells at Groot to find cover because it s dangerous. Groot smile and waves at her because Groot loves
everyone. Gamora has to stop, fail at holding back her smile, and says Hi. The moment should take
you out of the film, but Baby Groot is so cute that even one of the most badass warriors in the galaxy
is won over by him.

Why It Is Important To Remove Raccoons
Often, especially in the winter months you may notice that raccoons, squirrels, wild rabbits, skunks or
even foxes roam around your backyard. They may threaten damage to your yard, domestic animals,
home, vehicles and even cultivation. That s why it s important to remove all intruders and wild
trespassers from your private zones. However, frequently wildlife removal can be complicated and
associated with a variety of issues. More and more people tend to resort to the services of
professionals, instead of doing the job themselves. If you are in the Ohio area, you may contact Miami
Valley Wildlife Control. They offer control and removal methods for various wildlife animals,
including rats, raccoons, skunks and moles. If you are in Florida, you may check out Critter Control,

If you really would like professional intervention for your wildlife control, you can choose one of the
following options: Your best choice might be to find a nuisance wildlife control operator. They will
catch the animal and remove it. If you decide to remove the animal on your own, you will have to get
an animal eradication permit. You should call the Conservation Police Officer or your Department of
State s biologist for assistance. Keep in mind that a wildlife removal permit is allowed only in cases
when all other wildlife control methods have failed. You can also check if your state s municipality
has a relevant department for handling this type of cases. Wildlife removal will definitely make you
feel safer and will help you protect your home from the random intrusions of dangerous and
unpleasant wildlife species. That s why it s always a wiser idea to remove and control all those little
intruders that threaten your safety, well being, gardens, vehicles and

Amelia Earhart s Life
Amelia Earhart s last words were heard 8:43 a.m.; these are the last documented moments of her life (
Earhart Project ). Any signs or clues as to where Earhart and her plane were located vanished the
second these words had been received, leaving the public stumped and constantly inquiring about
what exactly had become of Amelia Earhart on that day. At long last, due to new discoveries, some
light now shines upon Earhart s whereabouts. Despite popular belief, Amelia Earhart wasn t captured
by the Japanese nor was she lost at sea; in fact, the famous pilot landed on the uninhabited island of
Nikumaroro and passed away before she could be saved.
Thousands of Americans know the name Amelia Earhart, but what happened to her remains a mystery

There are multitudes of other conspiracies, however, this one is evidentially proven to be true. Earhart
s plane was never submerged under water or taken away from her since she was sending Morse Code
signals for days after her planes disappearance. In addition to this, Nikumaroro was the closest island
to her destination and the island s beaches were ideal for landing. On top of this, many artifacts that
have to be Earhart s or Noonan s, her navigator, have originated from Nikumaroro. Most importantly,
they found a body matching Earhart s size and race as well on Nikumaroro. All of these findings
combined make it the highly unlikely Earhart had ended up anywhere else but on the deserted island

Examples Of Characterization In Night By Elie Wiesel
In many pieces of literature authors use character change to show the progression of characterization
throughout the novel. In Night, by Elie wiesel, character change happens because of the setting Eli is
in. Eli the protagonist s feelings changes as a result of his setting. Eli is left with his father after being
taken away from his home and sent to the concentration camps. Eli was innocent, kind, waiflike, and a
religious person. While at the camps Eli has to decide whether or not he can stay true to himself or
become a brute. By the end of the novel, Eli has become non religious, and brutal towards his father
and others. Throughout the book Eli has gone through many obstacles rendering him to lose faith in
god. He shows his lost faith in god after being separated from his mother and sister ... Show more

Eli shows his change towards his father when he get mad at his father when he sees his father get
beaten by Idek. This happened while they were loading diesel motors under the supervision of
German Soldiers including Idek. Eli just watched Idek release his wrath on Father with an iron bar and
did not defend him . Eli also becomes a brute towards his father when he thinks to himself that he
should just abandon his father and survive for himself. He thinks of this while when he was wandering
for hours searching for his father on and off around the camp. Eli stops and in his mind he says If only
I didn t find him him! If only I were relieved of this responsibility, I could use all my strength to fight
for my own survival, to take care only of myself... (106) Similarly Eli unwilling gives his portion of
soup to his dying father. He does this when he realizes his father had not eaten anything all day. Eli s
heart was heavy, when he realized he had failed the test just like the Rabbi s son. Eli not only becomes

Should Esports be considered a real sport?
By Bogdan Josic

Introduction
The influence of technology throughout the 21st century has been significant, affecting every aspect of
society, including sport. Technology has created an unofficial, esports (Electronic Sports), which has
grown rapidly over the past 4 years, erecting various Tournaments and bringing in millions of viewers.
This interests me due to my passion for video games and sports, a combination of the two being
extremely enticing; however, the real interest lies in the controversial issue of, Should Esports be

Streamers are people who broadcast them playing video games through a broadcasting service. This
service is twitch , as it has a monopoly on the video game broadcasting market. The broadcasters gain
ad revenue and viewers can subscribe to streams, allowing them to gain an income from streaming and
interacting with viewers, however, it is a free service and can be viewed by anyone without any
payments needing to be made. Esports has influenced this due to the immense amount of organisations
requiring professional players to implement streaming in their day to day activities. Streaming is an
integral part of a professional gamer s life in the western world due to the ad revenue it provides.
Companies attempt to raise the profile of the players through content on youtube such as gaming
house tours, making the players seem more likeable and approachable, directly influencing the user
interaction gained from streaming, thus, increasing revenue. By observing twitch streams I was able to
find that the top 3 twitch streams on avg. at any one time would have 10 20 thousand viewers in the
League of Legends section alone, as supported by statistic gathering website Socialblade , with the
other 7 in the top 10 averaging 1 7 thousand. Many other sections such as Counter Strike: Global
Offensive and Hearthstone also have similar statistics. This done not include

Coyote Clan Kachina Doll Analysis
The sculptures Seated Couple, Vision of Lady Xoc, and Coyote Clan Kachina Doll, each represent
three distinct ancient cultures: the Dogon people of 18th and 19th century Mali, the Mayan culture
between 681 and 725 B.C.E, and the Zuni Pueblo Native American culture during the 19th century.
Each of these carved sculptures symbolizes truths universal to the human condition. The Seated
Couple symbolizes the universal family unit. The Vision of Lady Xoc symbolizes blood sacrifice for
venerated ancestors and preparation of warriors for battle. The Coyote Clan Kachina Doll symbolizes
the power of troublesome spirits.
Figure 1 is an image of the sculpture the Seated Couple produced by the Dogon peoples, dated
between 18th to the early19th century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Seated Couple the cylindrical and mostly symmetrical figures not only depict the attributes of the
Dogon family life, but also the pairing of male and female spirits in Dogon mythology and the sexual
duality that Dogon s see as a spiritual component of every individual. (Ezra) The Vision of Lady Xoc
is a portion of the monument to Lady Xoc depicting her power and importance in Yaxchilán society.
The shedding of royal blood was an act of supreme sacrifice to gain the gods favor and thus perpetuate
the cycle of human life. (Kerr) Kachina dolls are used as a teaching device for children to cement the
tribal stories learned in the oral tradition of their tribes. The dolls and the kachina masks worn at
festivals are a reminder to the people of all that each Kachina represents.
Gender Roles are a significant theme in each of these sculptures. The Seated Couple depicts, men and
women working together as a unit, Dogon attitudes toward marriage as a partnership of independent
equals. This balanced duality is also a central tenet of Dogon mythology. ( Figure: Seated Couple )
The Vision of Xoc shows that in royal Maya courts, women filled important civic and religious roles
denied to most women in many Mesoamerican cultures. (Martin and Grube) The Zuni prized those
who were good at both traditional male and female roles and those who produce the crafts of both
genders.

to bring about a specific biochemical reaction. They are mainly made up of proteins and can
tremendously speed up reactions. E. coli ( a bacterium) has about 1,000 different types of enzymes

What Do You Think Influences Our Dreams Research Paper
What do you think influences your dreams? Do you believe that there is a scientific reason behind it?
A psychological meaning? Or maybe you believe that they re messages from a divine source?
Whatever it is, our subconscious mind behaves rather erratically when presented with a soft pillow,
warm milk, and a large number of sheep.
The human race has been long since fascinated with the concept that is our dreams. This separate state
of consciousness, an alternate reality if you will, has captured the interest of the nation throughout
history. Perhaps this is due to the fact that we spend a third of our life in this delusional state; roughly
about six years, at the most, of our life dreaming, according to George Bernard Shaw. Properly
knowing the fact that a great deal of our life is wasted in a sedated state, thus raises another question:
Why do we dream? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amazing, right? In the study, dreams were found to be highly visual and often illogical in nature, this
fact ultimately being true, it was said by Barrett that the uncanny nature makes it ripe for out of the

Association for Psychological Science, went along the lines of dreams are no different than the
thoughts that go through our minds during the day they are in a slightly different state from when our
eyes are open, as stated by Barrett. But why does our mind do this? The newest thought that will
plague our dreams has finally produced itself, and we will continue to look for

Genetic Mutation
In biology, term mutation has been described as changes to the base pair sequence of the genetic
material of an organism. Mutations can be caused by: copying errors in the genetic material during
cell division, by exposure to ultraviolet or ionizing radiation, chemical mutagens, or viruses, or can
occur deliberately under cellular control during processes such as hypermutation. In multicellular
organisms, mutations can be subdivided into germ line mutations, which can be passed on to
descendants, and somatic mutations, which cannot be transmitted to descendants in animals. Plants
sometimes can transmit somatic mutations to their descendants asexually or sexually (in case when
flower buds develop in somatically mutated part of plant). A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Instead there is an abnormal type of hemoglobin S that is inherited as an autosomal inherited trait.
This disease produces chronic anemia, which may become life threatening when hemolytic crises (the
breakdown of redblood cells) or aplastic crises (bone marrow fails to produce blood cells) occur. The
incidence of this disorder is 1/400 African Americans and 8/100,000 people. The manifestations of
this disease are a result of the fragility and inflexibility of the sickle red bloodcells. When exposed to a
lack of water, infection, and low oxygen supply, these delicate red blood cells take the shape of a
crescent. This then causes blood cell devastation and thickening of the blood. Sickle cell anemia has
the potential to be life threatening and can affect other body systems and parts of the body. Those
included are the nervous system, bones, the kidneys and the liver. Maternal PKU is a genetic disorder
that stems from point mutation. 1/15,000 people fall victim to this disorder. Phenylketonuria (PKU)
has been shown as a cause of retardation in infant fetuses. Children in the fetus begin with a normal
amount of phenylalanine hydroxylase but are affected by the mother s elevated phenylalanine level
due to the imbalance of prenatal amino acid. Mental deficiency is clearly evident in disorder and
usually consists of I.Q.s of 50.

Digging Seamus Heaney Essay
One of the first functions of a poem, after all, is to satisfy a need in the poet
(Seamus Heaney)
In his essay Poetry, Language and Identity: A Note on Seamus Heaney, Kearney writes that Heaney
has been criticised for refusing to adopt a fixed unambiguous position, for not nailing his colours to
the mast, particularly about the national question (i.e. his attitude to his native North) . Although not
disputed, Heaney s poetry maintains an objectivity that neither condemns nor accepts the turbulent
past of his native Northern Ireland. He is an observer of the separation of ideals, religion, and national
identity that occurred throughout his life.
In this essay, elements discussed will be Heaney s identity as a Catholic republican growing ... Show

Perhaps the only incident to demonstrate Heaney s patriotism was his response to the editors of The
Penguin Book of Contemporary British Poetry in 1983. In Open Letter, Heaney rhymed Be advised,
my passport s green/ No glass of ours was ever raised/ to toast the Queen . His reaction to being
included as a British poet, gave him the opportunity to acknowledge proudly his Irish heritage, yet he
made light of the situation by incorporating a rhyme of green and Queen . All Heaney ever wanted
was to be socially responsible and creatively free (Redress of Poetry, p193). He was able to achieve
this in later life, and it manifested itself in the poem, Exposure from North (1975). The move south to
Wicklow was a personal decision, yet Heaney worried if he could produce material as illustrious as
when living in the heart of his homeland. He was no longer a representative of the North, writing I am
neither internee nor informer/ An inner émigré, grown longhaired/ And thoughtful (32 34). It is a self
reflective poem, almost part of a life cycle of his work. In Digging , he contemplated what type of
poet he could be, and in Exposure , he reflects on his past life and work, and how he can realign his

Essay On Why I Deided To Not Go On The Trip
Why I Decided to Not Go on the Trip It was actually a pretty simple decision. I woke up the Monday
before the trip weekend drenched with sweat. Constant nightmares really have an effect on your sweat
glands. I groaned and rolled over on my side. I didn t want to be the bad guy, but everyone had
deemed me the evil crook. I also didn t want to be mean to August Pullman, but it was my defense
mechanism. I dragged myself from the blankets that had lost their haven long ago. My parents must
have left earlier that morning. Cereal was the best thing I could whip up now. I chewed slowly, trying
to stall time. I couldn t be late again, though. My mom never stopped badgering me about it the last

him. No matter how many times I tried scratching the tortured sounds out of my ears, it stayed. I jolted
out of my desk and fell with a thump on the linoleum floor. I heard muffled giggles and outright
laughing. The sounds blended and the wailing started again. I looked around frantically at all the
delighted faces. My eyes finally stopped on the steel desk again. My expression was dazed and
shocked at the same time. My eyes staring wide and frightened gasps ripping out of my chest. I looked
around at the blur of faces again and buried my face in my arms. Just make it go away, I think. I feel
cold, but sure, hands pat my shoulders and a kind voice asking if I needed to go to the nurse. I felt
myself nod numbly and Ms. Petosa escorted me to the clinic. I sat down on the edge of the clinic bed
and started shivering. This is where the unstoppable sweating and uncontrollable tremors started. The
nurse checked my temperature and felt my pulse. She asked me what happened but I just kept
repeating what I wanted. I want to go home, I rocked myself again and the nurse just nodded. She

This a very intriguing article written by researchers at the Institution Technology Department of
Biological Sciences in Melbourne, Florida. Researches both on local and regional scales were able to
ascertain the question, if bamboo forests have historically covered an area as extensive as its current
distributions? During the study, the intrigued wanted to uncover how the modern extent of bamboo
could have resulted from the historical increases of fire presence and whether past invasions of
bamboo dominance is persistent to the landscape and future state of Western Amazonia. Through the
use of Landsat imagery, field surveys and other means of technology, these researchers were able to
show the impacts of fire on bamboo in major cities of Los Amigos, Cocha Cashu, Peru, and Acre,
Brazil. The purpose of this article has gained the interest of many and gives the results of how and
why there is an existence of Bamboo forests in these areas today. There sole purpose was to study
paired samples on local and regional scales within and outside large bamboo patches in three regions
in western Amazonia (Los Amigos, Cocha Cash, and Acre). Researchers wanted to explain remote

  • 2. Summary Of Fear And Suspense In Wells Red Room By G. Wells Wells uses powerful description of the Red Room to create an atmosphere of fear and suspense. Wells uses sight/sounds in order to conjure vivid images, fear and suspense. For example, there was a distant echo to my footsteps forms a clear image of suspense because every noise could be the sound of a ghost. While the shadow in the alcove at the end of the room is also very good because shadows are associated with ghosts and sadness. Overall, these two sentences are very powerful examples of fear and suspense and use precise vocabulary to do so. Wells uses light/darkness in order to conjure vivid images, fear and suspense. • 4. Loss Of Identity In T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Men The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot could not be any truer with the messages of modern society. Reading Hollow Men, the average person can find almost all of the messages applying to modern day times. Especially in a high school setting. It was obvious that Eliot was far ahead of his time when he nailed society on the head about its imperfections. Three messages that Eliot portrays in The Hollow Men are: the self identity crisis, the loss of faith, and the incredible force of skepticism. In which line does The Hollow Men show that humans suffer from loss of identity? Well, in lines 31 and 32 he gives a dark image of how fake people are. Let me also wear such deliberate disguises. (Hollow 31 21) Now, the descriptive word that Eliot used is deliberate. That means people purposely hid their true selves from the outside world. In Worland High, countless students wear these deliberate disguises in fear of the awful judgement that they may receive. However, it is not only students who are cautious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Form prayers to broken stone. (Hollow 51) People still pray, but it s to nothing. As in nothing meaning, they do not truly believe that praying will work. Many children are raised up in a religion, and think nothing of them. There are followers and then there are religious followers. Religious followers really believe and have faith in their religion, will the others follow blindly, and could care less about their religion. Eliot informs his readers about how the majority is only followers and continue to get worse. In today s modern society, this is very true, Atheists and Agnostic Atheists are very common. Perhaps it is because of the progression in science proving many religious events to not be possible. Then again, is this necessarily a good or a bad thing? Everyone is entitled to their one beliefs, just because someone doesn t believe in God, does not mean they do not have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Importance Of Chons In Egyptian mythology, Chons (alternately Khensu, Khons, Khonsu or Khonshu) is an ancient lunar deity, from before formal structure was given to a pantheon. His name reflects the fact that the Moon (referred to as Iah in Egyptian) travels across the night sky, for it means The Wanderer, and also had the titles Embracer, Pathfinder, and Defender, as he was thought to watch over night travelers. As the god of light in the night, Chons was invoked to protect against wild animals, increase male virility, and to aid with healing. It was said that when Chons caused the crescent moon to shine, women conceived, cattle became fertile, and all nostrils and every throat was filled with fresh air. Chons can also be understood to mean king s placenta, and consequently in early times, he was considered to slay the king s (i.e. the pharaoh s) enemies, and extract their innards for the king s use, metaphorically creating something resembling a placenta for the king. This bloodthirsty aspect leads him to be referred to, in such as the Pyramid texts, as the (one who) lives on hearts. He also became associated with more literal placentas, becoming seen as a deification of the royal placenta, and so a god involved with childbirth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Minor Characters in Ragged Dick The Role of Minor Characters in Ragged Dick It is impossible for the minor characters in Ragged Dick to have a fair chance at being recognized as decent members of society because of the emphasis Horatio Alger Jr. places on Dick Hunter. The better qualities of Dick are constantly being reminded to the reader, giving them little room to disagree with Alger s heroic portrayal of him. Horatio Alger Jr. s preference to homosexuality also reflects his choice in excluding any useful female characters in his novel. Minor characters lack understanding from readers because information surrounding them is absent, causing them to be judged on face value alone. Alger writes Ragged Dick to try and show how respectability can come forth through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Micky Maguire is another pawn which Alger plays in Ragged Dick in order to make Dick stand out among the boot blacks and set him above the rest. Micky fits the typical description of a common boot black in the city during the time in which Ragged Dick was written. He seems to exemplify expected behaviour of a young boot black by his rough exterior, involvement in fights, lack of money, and disregard for others including their property. Micky Maguire is the enemy of the story, and it is clear that the hero must always rise above the bad characters in order to provide a lesson with the story being told. Dick is known to keep his cool and remain confident around Micky, even when a fight is breaking out between the two of them (Alger 94). While Micky is indeed a cruel boy as it seems, Dick does bring on some of the taunting himself because of the cocky manner he upholds when speaking to Micky. Even with Dick being smart mouthed toward Micky, there is not any sympathy towards Micky in the novel because of his ruffian ways and rudeness towards Dick. Alger does not give Micky credit for why he acts like this towards Dick nor does he establish a true reason why Micky turned out to be such a tough street boy. His childish actions are likely caused by jealously over Dick and not because of sheer hatred (Alger 91). Micky is not given chances like Dick and whether or not Alger sets it up so that option luck is a rewarded behaviour, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Disney Version Of Cinderella And The Grimm Brothers Story Many people believe that all versions of a fairytale are all the same, unfortunately they are wrong and these stories have vast differences just like in Pinocchio film from Disney where Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio are friends but, in an Italian version Pinocchio kills Jiminy Cricket with a hammer. Another example of this is the story Cinderella. Cinderella is an iconic fairytale known very well around the world. The three adaptations that will be specifically looked at are the Little Golden Book Cinderella, the Grimm Brothers Cinderella , and the 2015 Disney version of Cinderella. The three adaptations of Cinderella may have many coinciding ideas but they also come alive through their variations, which include; the theme which drives the plot, the circle archetype, and the perception of the villainous Stepmother. As explained in the paragraph above there are subtle and large differences in each tale, one of the bigger differences and more noticeable changes among each version is theme. Theme is the subject or moral in a piece of writing, film, or work of art. The version with the most change is the Grimm Brothers story. Being known for their horrid stories the theme of this version is what you do to other can be done to you . The Grimm Brothers story has a what comes around goes around ideal to it. • 9. The Causes And Treatment Of Sepsis The term sepsis has been around since prehistoric times. Hippocrates presented the word sepsis 2400 years ago to represent a condition where an overwhelming infection leads to tissue breakdown with rotting, foul odour, and disease. The ancient Roman scholar and writer (116 BC 27 BC), Marcus Terentius Varro mentioned that small creatures, invisible to the eye, fill the atmosphere, and breathed through the nose cause dangerous diseases. In the early 1990s at a conference convened by the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine modern definitions of sepsis were termed in detail. At that time, sepsis was described as a systemic response to a physiologic insult including infections and other etiologies that lead to the development of further organ injury, ultimately culminating in multiple organ dysfunction syndromes. The word bacteraemia is used when bacteria are isolated from the blood whether clinical symptoms are present or not while the words sepsis or septicaemia is used for the isolation of bacteria in blood in combination with clinical symptoms and signs of infections. Neonatal sepsis, also named Sepsis neonatorum , represents to a group of physical and laboratory findings that occur in response to invasive infection within the first 30 days (neonatal) of life. Criteria for neonatal sepsis should include documentation of infection in a newborn infant (0 28days) with a serious systemic illness in which noninfectious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, some staff in DJI think that Tao Wangs perfectionistic characteristic bring them lots of pressure ,so they choose to leave DJI. From my perspective, Tao Wang should hire some experienced managers to assistant him to manage his employees as well as some specific but less important things. Afterwards, he can have enough time to focus on planning the further development of DJI. Also, it is suggestive for Tao Wang to engaged some technical advisers ,so that the DJI can have the better products. Organic Semiconductors Abstract Organic semiconductors Abstract: This paper covers advantages of organic semiconductors over the conventional one s and also the use of organic semiconductors and polymers to make OLED s and PLED s. Introduction: An organic semiconductor is an organic material with semiconductor properties. They can be divided into single molecules, oligomers or polymers. Many organic materials are very colorful and these materials interact very strongly with light. Due to this reason they are used in applications like light emitting diodes and photo voltaic cells. Although these materials are not intended to replace silicon based technologies, organic semiconductors can help to realize fully flexible devices for television displays, ... Encapsulation: organic devices have to be protected from any kind of environmental influences. Hence they are encapsulated in between two plastic foils other such materials also can be used to protect them. [1] Charge transport in organic semiconductors: Various materials are available that transport either electrons or holes. This distinction does not rely on the actual ability of materials to transport charges ( ie. On the actual value of charge mobility). But rather reflects the ease of charge injection from electrodes traditionally used in devices. In that context, a material is often referred to as a hole [electron] transporter when its ionization energy [electron affinity] closely matches the Fermi level of the electrode material. Materials that transport both electrons and holes are also available nowadays these materials are called ambipolar transport materials.[2] The charge transport in organic materials is similar to that in the conventional semiconductors, the charge carriers (electrons or holes) have to overcome the barrier potential formed at the junction of metal and the semiconductor. The carriers are then injected into the organic semiconductor layer. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However for standard deviation and the Chi Squared test the expected values will be reduced to 3 significant figures. As for the P values and the Critical values will be given in exact numbers. Mathematical Process As described in my introduction, I have found the mean, median, mode, and range of both genders. I got this data table from (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0005061.html). This link leads to a table from the U.S Bureau of the Census. The table is displaying the median age at first marriage between the years of 1890 2010. • 13. The Causes Of Discrimination Against Homosexuals There are many causes of discrimination against homosexuals in the world today. A homosexual is one who has sexual relationships with members of the same sex. Worthen states that the majority of homosexuals believe they were born gay (Worthen, F 2014). This belief often supplies them with comfort, relieving them of any responsibility to change. However, there is no solid scientific evidence that people are born homosexual (Worthen, F 2014). Along with outside factors in a person s life, his own personal choices have played a key role in forming and shaping his homosexual identity, though few will admit this (Worthen, F 2014). The issue of gay is at the heart of the human struggle. The decision of two consenting adults to engage in marital affair should be a personal decision and not the decision of the state (Osbong, Tony 2014). Unlike race, gender, age, ethnicity our religion, sexual orientation is not a protected characteristic under federal civil rights law. Perceptions and stereotypes or another discrimination against homosexuals and it leads to homophobia and heterosexism. Harmful stereotypes are some of the harshest and most common forms of discrimination gay s face (Howe, Z 2014). Many people act nervous around gays because they are perceived to be attracted to every one of the same gender, or they are perceived to be sexual deviants capable of sexual abuse (Howe, Z 2014). This is simply not the case, and gay people are no more likely to be sexual abusers than straight people (Howe, Z 2014). But perception is a precarious thing; a zero tolerance policy has taught men that the way people think of them can change permanently with one slip, one little kiss or too intimate friendship (Howe, Z 2014). • 15. Child Labour And Child Labor One of today s and back then s worst concern is the amount of children currently and previously forced to endure child labour. Child labour affects children mentally and physically, as well as putting children at risk for abuse from employers. Child labour is an everyday task for as many as 280 million children. They work on farms, factories, and in sweatshops for extremely low fees; most have little or no education. Child labour addresses many issues and thoughts such as, dehumanization, the lack of enforcement of child labour laws which exist in most countries in the world and the social effects of these uneducated children becoming our future. This essay will show what child labour really is and how it has and is affecting our world. Child labor began in the 1900s because many families were in poverty and needed everyone they could in their family working to bring in a slightly larger income. According to the author Irwin Yellowitz Children were useful as laborers because their size allowed them to move in small spaces in factories or mines where adults couldn t fit, children were easier to manage and control and perhaps most importantly, children could be paid less than adults. As the children worked, they were also not getting an education. In the 1900s, child labor was not an unusual thing. It was actually pretty common and part of the modern economy. People did try and reduce the amount of child laborers; it took a huge stock market collapse to convince the people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History essay Using these four passages and your own knowledge, asses the view that Japan was driven into war with the western powers in 1941 by American policies. Both interpretations B and D prove that America was the only driving force that caused a war in the Pacific. The oil embargo that America enforced in 1940 was an incentive for Japan, a country very reliant on imports of which most primarily came from America feeding its daily usage of 12,000 tons of oil,to declare war on the country that was slowing its progress to conquer China. Interpretation B states that moderates and militants alike saw American pressure as provocative thus creating a tension in the Pacific, with the American foreign policy at the forefront of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However American concern for the safety of Asia would ultimately lead to a war in the Pacific and Japanese hostility was solely to blame. Interpretation D also shows Japan s aggression being sparked by American decisions. For example America, most of all, stood in the way stood in the way of this through their control of resources in South East Asia. America s grip on all vital resources in the Pacific would have driven Japan to war as it was the only alternative to stop America whilst still keeping control over China. The leading philosophies of the time, assumed that acquiring an empire provided the basis of prosperity and future national security. This on the other hand contradicts the interpretation as it presents Japan as an empire with clear instructions on how to achieve wealth through imperialism. This is shown throughout the passage where by the time the war in China began in 1937 politicians favouring expansionism were in high offices of state. America is no longer the only reason that war began as the views of the leaders in 1937 were evidently expansionist. Japan does not want any relations with America as in the eyes of Japan s leaders that would have entailed a colossal loss of prestige with incalculable internal consequences. Japan and the US both operated with an imperialist mindset, but Japan government had mishandled the position they found themselves in Overall this proves that Japan had their own ... Somali The Somali Banking System The Somali Banking System Anna Koontz Dr. Darcy Hartman AEDE 4536 21 November 2015 A: Introduction and Problem Description Somalia is a war torn nation in East Africa that has been systematically affected by political, economic, and social issues for decades. These issues have profoundly impacted the way that the nation functions as a whole. One of the most significant economic issues that plagues Somalia today is its lack of an effective central bank, and the general scarcity of banks throughout the country. The Central Bank of Somalia does exist, but it is essentially inoperative, as it has no substantial authority and has not officially printed a single bank note since the 1990s1. Currently, the Central Bank of Somalia does not dictate monetary policy whatsoever, and only conducts surveys as it attempts to reconstruct itself 2. Because of this, counterfeit currency makes up a sizable proportion of the money in circulation, and most Somalis rely on remittances transferred from family members abroad to survive. In fact, it is estimated that around 45% of Somalia s economy is made up of these remittances that come from places like Kenya, Ethiopia, and the United States, where large populations of Somali refugees and immigrants currently live3. Not surprisingly, the lack of a banking system has led to currency substitution that appears in many forms. Some use foreign currency or the plentiful counterfeit bills, while others use money issued by regional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
