Cellular Boundaries Are Permeable
In biology, I learned that cellular boundaries can be permeable. Initially, this concept was intriguing in
and of itself, that cells can release and absorb information to perform necessary functions. Three years
later, that particular biology class and the principle it revealed has held a place in my mind. The phrase
boundaries are permeable returns to my thoughts at odd times, not always bearing the original
scientific connotation. Most often, the phrase returns when there is an overlap in subject matter, an
opportunity to bridge ideas that were previously considered distinct to respective areas of study. The
three words have remained with me, serving to analogize the ability to effectively apply information
across disciplines, something I wish to accomplish on my career path. In my academic experience,
there is a striking difference between the classroom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have desired to meet the world and it s diversities for some time. The vigilant mountains seem to
protect inhabitants from the outside world, global events appear distant and therefore are not fully
addressed in a village of less than 1,000 citizens. I have yearned to see more of the world, to be able to
understand complex relations and use this knowledge to improve matters through communication. I
aim to utilize my opportunity to receive an education to help equalize societal imbalances. In order to
achieve the stasis of peace, it is important that injustices are acknowledged and given a voice. I hope
to align my values with my actions, to convert my worries over social and environmental issues into
work. By becoming informed about the impacts of human activity on the environment, and our
impacts on each other, I will be able to be a respectful and effective advocate for improvement in these
areas. I hope to be able to grow and obtain techniques needed to effectively address and resolve issues

Agriculture In California
California is a state that is known for multiple things, but one of the most important things is
Agriculture. Therefore, it is a necessity to protect agriculture and allow it to continue to increase
revenue for the state. To do this, we created our own agency to look after everything agricultural in
our state. The California Department of Food and Agriculture ensures the safety and health of various
food and crops for controlling the agricultural regularity of all farms and crop growing operations in
the state. The agency is overseen by both current California governor Jerry Brown and the branch s
president Craig McNamara. According to their website, California agriculture is a $46.4 billion dollar
industry that generates at least $100 billion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Milk and dairy products are in great abundance throughout the state of California, and is a constant
stream of revenue for the state. Therefore, the CDFA sees it fit to make sure that all of the dairy and
milk that is produced locally is safe for consumption and that it will live up to a certain standard set by
the department. As described in the mission statement from the CDFA, The Milk and Dairy Food
Safety Branch (MDFS) is charged with the mission and responsibility of ensuring that California s
milk, milk products, and products resembling milk products are safe and wholesome, meet microbial
and compositional requirements and are properly labeled. (cdfa.org) As milk and dairy is also a big
staple of interstate commerce, it must be adequately prepared even when conditions are less than ideal.
A big example of this is seen when we examine the effects that the long drought has had on the crop.
Some farmers from outside of the state have even tried to persuade California farmers into moving. As
CNBC states in an article, Increasingly every year, there are more states showing up at the World Ag
Expo to entice California dairies to move to their states, and they re finding a receptive audience.
(Daniels) The promise of a stable water supply and the chance to be more competitive in a smaller
state is apparently attractive to some farmers, and they seem to be weighing up their options. Without

Planning Stage Of A Project Essay
The main portion of the planning stage of a project is establishing the activities that are necessary to
complete the endeavor and defining the resources. This segment of the planning process is crucial in
refining the manner in which the work will be completed, as well as delineating the time, resources,
and cost of the undertaking. A project manager also designs the system that will be utilized to
communicate, monitor, and maintain the project. By creating the activity, communication, and
resource structures, a project manager can effectively direct and supervise the execution of an
endeavor and increase the chances of a successful outcome.
Work Breakdown Structure
After the project scope and charter are established, the next part of the planning phase of the endeavor
is to create the work breakdown structure (WBS). The WBS is a process that breaks down the project
work and deliverables into more controllable components within a hierarchical structured format
(PMI, 2013). The elements that are listed at the lowest levels of the WBS are the work packages and
can be applied to the activities that are scheduled, valued, monitored and controlled (PMI, 2013).
Through this process, a project manager can distinguish the components that will be needed for the
endeavor, and have a structured plan to effectively monitor and control the undertaking.
One of the techniques that are applied to the creation of the WBS is decomposition. The process of
decomposition it the methodology

Comparing Linus And Lucy Van Pelt
Linus and Lucy van Pelt are two of the most iconic characters to exist in the comic universe. They are
constantly paired together, and even have a song written about them named Linus and Lucy by Vince
Guaraldi Trio, performed for A Charlie Brown Christmas. This brother and sister dynamic duo is also
known for their subtle similarities and utmost personality differences. Despite being siblings, Linus
and Lucy have extremely opposite personalities. Linus and Lucy van Pelt are both significant
characters created by Charles Schulz. Lucy was introduced in March of 1952, while Linus was
introduced in September of the same year. Lucy, the older sister of Linus, took it as her duty to protect
him from everything that could possibly happen to him. She takes care of him to the best of her ability

in a row, which just further proves how crabby she constantly is. When Schroeder continuously denies
her love, she just becomes angrier. There was one day where she was talking with Schroeder and he
was not accepting her affection, and so instead of just respecting his opinions, Lucy made sure that
everyone would know she was in a bad mood for the rest of the day. Sometimes, Lucy is crabby just to

was no justifiable reason for her to be so crabby all of those days. Lucy then contemplates whether she
should continue being crabby, and finally decides that she will continue the tradition because she does

The Safety For Illegal Aliens
Safety for Illegal Aliens From January to August 2014 over 200 sanctuary cities released some 8,145
illegal aliens despite the fact that they were being held on criminal charges. Of those over 8,000
released, 1,800 of them were charged with crimes such as rape and child sex abuse ( Sanctuary City
Crime Wave in 43 States). Although there is no clear definition of sanctuary city each of these cities
generally have laws that limit how far government employees and law enforcement officials are
allowed to go to aid the federal government on immigration matters. Sanctuary cities should be

needs to be done in order to prevent these cities and their politicians from resisting the federal law and

Trials And Tribulations Of The Muslim Youth Today

Trials and Tribulations of the Muslim Youth Today The Youth of Islam today are dwelling in a crisis
and it is a shame to say that most of them know not of what they are in engrossed in. Others out of
ignorance disobey the commandments of Allah (SWT) and the guidance of the Prophet, Muhammad
(SAW), thus bringing upon them the wrath and anger of Allah (SWT). The lack of authentic
knowledge and taqwa (fearing and being cautiously aware of Allah) allows the shaytaan to throw in
doubts and arrogance into the hearts of the young Muslims. This leads them directly towards the
wrong path and straight to the fire. Therefore without knowledge and a firm foundation of taqwa the
young Muslim well never see the light and the beauty of the religion they are obligated to embrace.
The lack of knowledge and taqwa also opens the doors to many major issues such as identity crisis,
venom of the media, bad companionship, love and attachment to the dunya, and lack of confidence.
Although there may be more reasons to the downfall of the youth these few that were mentioned are
the main issues that the youth must combat because they are things you deal with on a day to day
basis. Time is running and day after day we are losing our brothers and sisters to these issues. It is a
matter of time before we completely lose them and they become so engulfed in disobedience that they
begin to join forces with those who are cursed by Allah (SWT),

Birthstones
Birth Stones The first association of a special gem with each month was recorded in the Bible, in
Exodus 28 and 39. An original breastplate of the High Priest of the Hebrews was said to be made by
Moses in 1250 BC, according to instructions he received during 40 days in the mountains. The 12
gems in the breastplate were later linked with the signs of the zodiac, and later still associated with the
months in the year. Different cultures have different lists. Jewelers lists are often inconsistent. Unless
you re a geologist, the terminology of birthstones may be a bit confusing. So here s a quick primer on
birthstone terms. Minerals are made of inorganic materials (substances that were never alive), whose

When heated to 400 or 500 degrees Celsius, an amethyst s color changes to a brownish yellow or red.
Under some circumstances, the stones can turn green when heated. Heat may even transform an
amethyst into a naturally rare mineral called citrine. And even without heating, the violet color of an
amethyst may fade over time. Commercial sources of amethyst are Brazil and Uruguay; while in the
U.S., most amethyst is found in Arizona and North Carolina. The amethyst has a rich history of lore
and legend. It can be traced back as far as 25,000 years ago in France, where it was used as a
decorative stone by prehistoric humans. It has also been found among the remains of Neolithic man. It
s said that the signet ring worn by Cleopatra was an amethyst, engraved with the figure of Mithras, a
Persian deity symbolizing the Divine Idea, Source of Light and Life. It is also said to be the stone of
Saint Valentine, who wore an amethyst engraved with the figure of his assistant, Cupid. Saint
Valentine s Day is still observed in February. The word amethyst comes from the Greek word
amethystos meaning not drunk, and was believed to prevent its wearers from intoxication. The
following is a story from Greco Roman mythology, as quoted from Birthstones by Willard Heaps:

Planet Fitness Research Paper
My assignment is to write a critique paper on the facility named Planet Fitness . Planet Fitness is a
gym that labels itself rather as a fitness club that aspires people of all ages, weights and heights to
come and hit the gym. Planet Fitness promises a judgement free environment, allowing for even your
most introvert and shy gym goers to enjoy their workout without feeling self conscious because of
other gym attendee s opinions. On the workout floor, their facilities are equipped with mostly cardio

The biggest flaw that I believe planet fitness possesses is the fact that they live by the policy do not
cater to body builders, so that they can create the dream of a judgement free zone . I am about to put a
huge hole into the logic of this policy. There is no such thing as judgment free . Judgement and
opinion are natural processing agents within the human mind. Everyone judges everyone whether it is
acknowledged that they are doing so or not. Also, if it s a judgment free zone, how come the gym is
full of illustrations and slang words directed towards a stereotypical bodybuilder? Planet Fitness is
being judgmental their selves. By keeping to this policy, Planet Fitness is not only making itself the
laughing stock of the fitness industry, but it is also losing a large, plentiful amount of potential
customers. Now that I ve gotten that flaw out of the way, my second biggest frustration with Planet
Fitness is the food and candy the facility offers. When people sign up for the gym, they are also
signing a personal contact with their selves to be a better, heathier version of their selves. This process
involves not only working out, but it also involves dieting, creating a balanced meal plan based on
their goals, and being able to say no to eating poorly all the time and instead

Shrek Research Papers
DreamWorks Animation has released over 30 animated films since 1998. Among their highest
grossing films are the Shrek franchise, Madagascar 3, and Kung Fu Panda 2. For this analysis I shall
be looking at Shrek 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2, and examining what may make these movies a bit
unsuccessful despite their success. Shrek 2 is DreamWorks highest grossing film at $919.8 million
worldwide, topping its first film Shrek. This film may be the highest grossing film but what about it
may have fallen short? I found the opening of the movie using a storybook to not be as successful as
its usage in the first Shrek. The issue of using the storybook may have stemmed from how they
transitioned to the actually movie, having the 2D storybook picture of Prince Charming suddenly
change into the 3D model was a bit jarring and could have been done better. Using a different way to
deliver the opening monologue, or even changing the dialogue so it didn t have to be read as if it were
a storybook could have fixed this issue.
DreamWorks tends to shift the style they animate in from movie to movie and the Shrek franchise

The 2D style for Po s flashbacks works fine at times with the 3D aspects of the film, but then they also
have a cutout sequence at the beginning of the film that has a completely different design. I feel that
the best way to fix this issue is by choosing between the necessary styles. The 2D animation works
better with the 2D in my opinion, while I feel like the cutout animation is out of place. If they wanted
to have the opening in a different style I would suggest sticking with only 2 styles of animation in the
movie. I do have to say that the visuals of the film were stunning, the color palates looked very nice
and I specifically enjoyed the contrast of red and black that was often used during fight sequences

Advantages Of Economic Profit
1.0 INTRODUCTION
In finance, the proposed objective of the firm is the maximisation of economic profit. This maximising
objective is expressed in terms of the market value of the firm s shares. These notions should not be
confused with accounting profit which usually attempts to match periodic revenues and expenses as
well as other concepts. As a result, accounting profit is somewhat arbitrary and fails to take account of
all factors which affect shareholders wealth.
The discussion on the forms of corporate organisations revealed that, there are a number of advantages
that investors and owners derive. What business firms are seeking to achieve and therefore what
investment and financing decisions should seek to promote is a question central to business finance
and one which has attracted considerable discussion as the subject has developed ... Show more

However, maximization of profit is far too broad a definition of what is likely to be beneficial to
shareholders.
2.1 Why is profit maximisation not the best operational goal?
Emery and Finnerty (1997) posit three important reasons why profit maximization is not the best
operational goal. First, profit maximization is vague. Profit has many different definitions. Do we
mean accounting profits (based on book values) or economic profit (based on market value and
beyond a fair return)?
Secondly, profit maximization ignores differences in when we get the money. Profit maximization
does not distinguish between getting a cedi today and getting a cedi in the future, such as a year from
today.
Third, profit maximization ignores risk differences between alternatives. When given a choice
between two alternatives that have the same return but different risk, most people choose the less risky
one. This makes the less risky alternative more valuable. Profit maximisation ignores such differences

The Brand Of Brand Loyalty
Furthermore, the publication suggests that the brand loyalty is correlated with market share. So, the
bigger the company is, the more loyalty among its customers. And, this is true because the more
people get to know the company, its services, and its products, the more brand identity it will form
among current customers. Also, large companies benefit from having more loyal customers because
they engage in word of mouth activities which can potentially attract more customers. So, there are
many ways in which a company can increase their loyalty levels. But, when it comes to increasing
market share, a better way could involve the increase in revenues among consumers. This can be done
by opening more stores, offering products online, and by offering volume discounts. And, as a result,
the company may be able to increase revenues and potentially increase its market share. Eventually, it
could lead to an increase in the amount of loyal customers overall. Moreover, it can be said that
loyalty programs and other related marketing activities can only make a difference in the long run
because the result are hardly noticeable in the short run due to the fact that it takes time for a buyer to
become an actual loyal customer.
When it comes to developing a well designed loyalty program, marketers should take into account the
value being offered to consumers with respect to the prices of the products. This means that a
company should offer reasonable rewards to the customers after they

Hasidism In Life Apart
Life Apart is a documentary that explores Hasidic Jews in geographical and historical contexts. The
filmmakers trace Hasidism from its origins in Eastern Europe to its arrival in the United States,
interweaved by the Holocaust with lasting impacts. Referred to as a minority within a minority,
Hasidic Jews are often overlooked because of their nonconformist interactions with the surrounding
world. They reject pop culture and are hostile to other groups. Their religion governs every aspect of
their lifestyles, including strict dietary choices, limited careers, and patriarchal structures. In a
constantly modernizing world, Hasidic Jews must define themselves between their traditionalist views
and their place in America. The film traces Hasidism s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to some groups of Protestants, Hasidic Jews are equally as conservative, with some of the
same issues overlapping. Furthermore, the struggle for Hasidic Jews to mesh with American culture
reminds me of the Conservative Movement in the 1880s. The Jewish Theological Seminary wanted to
integrate more traditional readings of the Torah to modern American society. Similarly, the Hebrew
Union Seminary wanted to revise the rabbi class and encourage Jews to attend synagogues. This
resulted in many versions of Judaism, and many even regarded America as their Zion. On the other
hand, Hasidic Jews were unwilling to adapt, and regarded their Eastern European origins as their Zion.
Another sect we discussed in class were the Orthodox Jews, who are an umbrella term to the Hasidic
Jews. Although Orthodox Jews see themselves as nothing but traditional, they are modern because of
the conscious choice to stick to Jewish values. This is especially ironic in the documentary, when in
fact Hasidic Jews are actually modern. In the Jewish Food and Jewish Identity reading, the author
explores how Judaism has become such an optional religion. After watching the film, it is apparent
why Hasidic Jews exhibited so much tension even to other members in the same overall religion. They
resented that many Jews did not follow the strict reading of the Torah, which

Sugar Vs Ice
What makes ice melt faster, salt or sugar? For a fact, almost anything that can be dissolved in water
will be able to melt ice. (Lynch, 2016, pg 1). Well, salt is known to be used on icy roads during the
winter. Salt affects the freezing point of the ice, which causes the falling snow and the snow that is on
the ground to melt more and not freeze less. Like salt, sugar also melts the ice by affecting the
freezing point of ice. Both sugar and salt affect the formation of the water molecules when they
change the freezing point of the ice. Both salt and sugar melt ice, but sugar is not as effective as salt.
(Lynch, 2016, pg 1).
The freezing point is the temperature of a substance when it changes from a liquid to a solid.(World

Chesick, pg 390, para. 5,). The melting points of different substances vary. The melting point of a
substance depends on the whether the substance is a pure substance or a mixture. A pure substance
melts at a specific temperature. A mixture does not melt at a specific temperature, but at a wide range
of temperatures. The melting point of a substance is affected by atmospheric pressure. An increase of
the pressure raises the melting point of the substance, but it also lowers the melting point of some
substances. The melting point or the point at which water boils is 212 degrees fahrenheit ( 100 degrees
celsius.)
Ice has a crystal structure of frozen water molecules.(World Book, Devlin, pg 5, para. 7). Each
molecule is made up of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom. Each molecule is attached to 4
neighboring molecules by connections known as hydrogen bonds.( World Book, Devlin, pg 5, para

Rayson (1998), might be interpreted as Jadine s rejecting the roles of mother, daughter, and woman to

the end of the novel. Jadine s inclination toward upward social mobility leads to her separation from
the Afro American roots and the tar quality that Morrison advocates. This kind of flaw in Jadine

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder ( PMDD )
Everyone experiences some unhappiness in his or her lifetime whether it is a specific situation or not.
It becomes more serious when the cause is a form of depression. It is a fact that women experience
depression about twice as much as men (1). These causes specifically for women can be complex and
so are the solutions (3). A common syndrome affecting an estimated 3% to 8% of women in their
reproductive years is called Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) (4). PMDD is specifically
known as a mood disorder of severe depression, irritability, and tension with symptoms worsening a

These happen to be some symptoms of PMDD. Does this mean that I have PMDD? . As a result
PMDD is not always accurately identified or treated (4).
Diagnosis and treatment choices will depend on the outcome of an evaluation. To diagnose PMDD
and rule out any other problems there should be a complete physical and mental examination that
entails a complete history of current and previous symptoms, which can also raise questions about
illnesses of other family members and about mood, memory and changes in relationships (7). The
treatment for PMDD is similar to that for major depression, which consists of antidepressants and
psychotherapy. A woman suffering from PMDD has to take antidepressants not just during the time
her symptoms occur, but on a regular basis. Psychotherapy helps a woman cope with the harsh
symptoms and other challenges in her life (6). In severe cases hormones that induce premature
menopause may be administered since symptoms for PMDD sufferers disappear with menopause (4).
It is unfortunate that nearly two thirds of PMDD sufferers do not get the treatment that they need (2).
Some believe that it is just mother nature working and that every woman will experience symptoms
similar to PMDD in her lifetime, so why label it a disorder. Having a period is no different than having
a bad hair day! So get

approach to leading a healthy lifestyle. There are many steps in the process of being in a healthy
lifestyle. In order to be in a healthy lifestyle people have to make healthier choices in their life. First
that you have to avoid anything that is not good for you and choose healthier food options. People in

There are many foods in our diets today that is filled with sugar or unnecessary things that we eat and
we are unaware of. Our diets should be consisted of lots of vegetables and protein to be able to live
healthier and not having things such as too much oil or sugar and salt in our diets. Another important
strategy to use is to make sure not to overeat. According to an article on Health.com research had been
done in Japan and what they realized was that they would only eat until they were 80 percent full. This
helps them live longer and live healthier without feeling overstuffed with food. To eat better you must
able to see your food and that would be very difficult if you are watching T.V. or your laptop while
you are eating. Eating a meal with people and communicating is a very good way to be able to both
connect with people as well as eating slower and realizing you are full quicker ( 9 Ways To Live

1. Each of the sources provided are online, yet they differ in how they present information. In 1 2
paragraphs, please describe what you see as the major differences between these information sources.
(Need help? Start with the key message, language, and writing style of each one.)
The academic article was written as a way to publish results of a study. It quickly laid out the
information it had to provide in a summary and then proceeded to be more detailed about the study, all
the methods and statistics that were collected, and what conclusions were made. It mainly focused on
how energy drinks can lead to the drinking of more and various sugar based drinks.
The news article seemed more like a discussion about sugary drinks and how it s linked ... Show more

How much time do you think went into the creation of each of these sources? Think about the process
it took the author to find the information, write, and get the material published? Is there any oversight
(for example, an editor) before getting the material published?
I believe all three of these had some type of editing involved but to different extents. Obviously the
academic article would have gone through a peer review process in order to be published. The
academic article would have taken much longer to complete than the other two.
The magazine article would have taken some time to publish as it is a quarterly magazine (although if
this article was only published online this might not be relevant), and it would have had a good
amount of editing. There is an editor whose job is to help decide what gets published and what doesn t
but this process most likely lets through more than the same process in the academic world does. The
author had many sources and took his time writing covering the issue in a thorough manner.
The news article had to get information from multiple sources and sort through the data of a scientific
study. This would have taken sometime and the editing process some more. This could have taken
some days or weeks to finish. It had only approximately 500 fewer words than the magazine

Codependant Interactions
The way people interact with these objects is as important as the arrangement they are set in. The
relationship humans and non humans have is significant because they change the way one feels
towards a certain space. Since the barriers demand authority, the way humans interact with them
differs. I questioned the barrier s necessity and the officer responded by telling me, it is a way to
separate the crowd and cause a distortion to the crowd, and if things began to get out of hand we are
able to add more barriers. By phrasing it in this manner the police officer gave me the impression the
barrier is beneficial for protecting groups on both sides of the barrier. If there have been previous
notions that make humans feel as if they are threatened because of the object, negative ... Show more

Once an individual becomes an observer, they also become a subject of observation. When walking
through Sproul Plaza one not only interacts with the barricades, but also are molding themselves into a
part of what people are observing. Through others actions, persuades others on how to act in the space.
As a result of others actions, it changes the way others interact, and also shifts how both the human
and non human occupy the space. There is a codependant relationship between the object and the
subject because without the barrier, the subject would not know where to go and be safe, and without
the need for the subject to be protected, the object would not have a purpose. Humans have a tendency
to give meaning to objects that are being collected, and presented, the barricade changes meaning
depending on its placement. For instance, in the warehouse where the barricades are being stored, they
would not represent any authority. Once they were installed on campus for their intended purpose our
perception of them changed from that of mere objects to that of authority

which lead to severe brain swelling and eventually Kyle Willis death. Kyle Willis died because he
could not afford the medication that would have saved his life. There are many other people that can t

45,000 people annually die due to lack of health care coverage(Harvard Gazette). According to their
studies, those who are privately insured have 40% chance less of dying than those who have
insufficient funds(Harvard Gazette). The monopoly and corruption of the pharmaceutical industry is
un american and inhumane because it causes the middle class to not receive the help they need to
recover.

Explain The Four Kingdoms In The Book Of Daniel
Discussion Board 1 In the Book of Daniel the 7th chapter it is record that Daniel mentioned four great
kingdoms. The four great kingdoms that Daniel mentioned are Babylon, Medo Persia, Greece, and
Rome. Daniel stated in detail that these four kingdoms would come out the earth. The Babylonian,
Persian, Greek, and Roman empires were all different in size, power, and in many other ways. It is
noted that Daniel use animal symbols to describe these four kingdoms. First, the Babylonia kingdom
is represented by a lion that had wings like an eagle in which stood like a man on its two feet. It is
imperative to state, The lion s wings being torn off speaks of the king s insanity and loss of power;
standing on two feet like a man and receiving a human heart (mind) denotes Nebuchadnezzar s
humanitarian rule after his insanity; and the lion being lifted up from the ground indicates that it was
God who raised the king to his place of honor. Secondly, the Medo Persia kingdom is represented by a
bear that had three ribs in its mouth, and it was commanded to devour all flesh. This command that
was given means that this empire will conqueror other empires. Thirdly, the Greek Empire was
represented by a leopard with four wings and four heads. The Greek ... Show more content on

Minor Characters In Macbeth Essay
Macbeth is a play written by William Shakespeare, the play s genre is a tragedy. The play is about
Macbeth who kills the King of Scotland (Duncan) so he can become king himself. It is the minor
characters in Macbeth who attract our interest, this is shown in the three paragraphs below in which
Banquo, Duncan and Malcolm are classed as minor characters and how they attract our interest.
Banquo s role throughout the play is to be dramatic which then provides an effective foil for Macbeth.
The temptations of the witches were shown to be avoided by Banquo resulting Macbeth to act
somewhat normal. Equal in status to Macbeth as a commander, and similarly ambitious Banquo
expresses unshakeable moral principles and an ability to tell right from wrong. He warns Macbeth the
witches may be instruments of darkness and not be trusted. When Macbeth hints that they might plot
together, Banquo states firmly he will keep his allegiance clear . After Duncan s body is discovered, he
publicly declares: in the great hand of God I stand and resolves to fight against ... Show more content

Duncan is shown as a character who is noble, wise and loyal. He is honourable and isn t detained by
the likes of corruption. Macbeth quotes that Duncan hath been so clear in his great office, his virtues
will plead like angels . But Duncan may have so many great qualities but one of his flaw is to be too
trusting. He realised this when he made an error with the unfaithful Thane of Cawdor: he was a
gentleman on whom I built an absolute trust . The next line is Enter Macbeth which is ironic in what
happens later in the play. This is the scene in which Macbeth s attitude changes completely. He is now
full of anger and has turned evil which result in a deadly murder. But Duncan s flaw would cost him
his life as well as leaving the country of Scotland in the grasp of an evil human as well as a civil

Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History Summary
Bad Girls
Well behaved women seldom make history. I have seen that phrase and its slightly more common
counterpart, Well behaved women rarely make history many times. It is especially popular in the
Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a medieval history research and reenactment group in which
I participate, and is often accompanied by images of female fighters in armor wielding swords. Most
recently I saw it emblazoned upon my girlfriend s chest on a medieval themed t shirt that she bought
at a recent SCA event. I have never thought much about the slogan except for the fact that it generally
represents women who make themselves known in unforgettable ways and are remembered mostly for
disrupting the status quo.
Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, an author and professor of history at Harvard University, introduced the
phrase in a 1976 journal article about the characterization of women in Puritan funeral sermons.
Ulrich more recently wrote a book, based on the phrase, that explores how women in the past have
challenged the ways history was written. In her essay Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History,
Ulrich discusses the history of the phrase, how it was coined, and how it has taken on a life of its own.
The phrase is now commonly seen on everything from t shirts to coffee mugs, and has been featured
in magazine articles and even advertising campaigns. She reflects on how her accidental fame has
given her new insights into her historical studies.

Interracial Marriages
Christianity Race is a religious based website dedicated to spreading the word of God based on the
teachings of the Bible. The authors value ethno nationalism and believe racial mixing is a sin. They
have an elaborate website that covers a wide array of topics and they back up their opinions with
quotes from religious texts as well as studies and research from several peer reviewed journals. They
use facts from the New Scientist and the Department of Health and Human Services. Their particular
concern is that there are fundamental religious and scientific objections to marriage between people
who are of different ethnicities. The concern stems from a primary concern for the well being of
potential children resulting from these unions.

They quote a study that states white females/black males have divorce rates 200% higher than white
females/white males (National Council on Family Relations, 2008). They follow this statistic with
provoking questions such as Would God have Christians encouraging risky marriages? These
intimidating questions discourage people from questioning data if they wish to remain connected with
their religious counterparts. The same study stated that divorce rates for all couples had increased and
that divorce rates depended on a variety of non racial factors. It concluded that age at marriage and
educational level had a greater impact on marriage dissolution. It also found that depending on the
race and gender of the couple involved, divorce rates varied as some interracial marriages had lower
rates of divorce than same race marriages. In the future, if the authors of Christianity Race wished to
scientifically prove the notion that interracial marriages will more likely result in marriage instability
and divorce, they should attempt to conduct surveys of same race and various different race couples of
the same age group, religion, and socioeconomic status and ask about their marriage satisfaction in a
neutral way. This study could be combined with or compared to more recent longitudinal studies
regarding different race couples. They should also consider which races and genders should be
included in the study or if all data collected would be categorized accordingly. By following these
suggestions, Christianity Race authors may report findings that indicate interracial marriage is
increasing in America and that depending on the race of the couple, divorce could be predicted at the
same rate as same race couples as shown in the aforementioned

Sex Tourism in Thailand
Sex Tourism in Thailand
As we enter a new millennium the post colonial nations in the world are still searching for ways to
compete in an increasingly globalized, consumption driven economic environment. Many developing
countries have speculated that Tourism is an effective catalyst for development as well as increased
international understanding. Thailand, who has embraced tourism as the key to its modernization
strategy, has been hailed by many as a paradigm for success. Over the past twenty years Thailand has
enjoyed one of the fastest economic growth rates of any developing country. This rapid progress has
allowed Thailand to emerge as an economic leader in the Third world. The $4 billion a year in tourism
revenue is the core ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Until recently Thailand was a patriarchal society. One study showed that 73% of the families said they
would like to have daughters, while only 27% expressed the desire to have sons (Jubilee, p. 3).
Widespread poverty has lead families to consider children, especially females, as economic burdens.
Children and women have dropped to the lowest strata of the socioeconomic scale, and have thus
suffered the most (Jubilee, p. 4). The closing of options for many families have compelled parents to
force their children to fend for themselves and in some circumstances it has led people to sell their
children, especially daughters (World Congress, backgrounder, p. 1).
The influx of western ideals is another factor that has contributed to the victimization of many women
and children by the sex industry. The spread of consumerism by the mass media and through face to
face interactions with western tourists has caused Thais to increasingly value money and consumer
items. Materialism has led many to value possessions more then their sense of self worth. This
materialistic greed has lead many poor families to sell their children in order to obtain material
possessions. The market value of a child is between 7,000 and 30,000 baht, depending on the physical
attractiveness of the child (Jubilee, p.2). To families living in constant poverty and who only earn
5,000 baht a year 30,000 baht is very enticing.

The Soldier And The Changing State
The path to democratization within nations which were formerly autocratic is seldom without pitfalls.
This path is what Zoltan Barany discusses extensively in his book The Soldier and the Changing State,
which provides a comprehensive look at various nations which have endeavored to attempt the
transition in the wake of a myriad of national events war, regime change, and state transformation.
One of the nations he focuses on in his section on war is Bosnia, which was subjected to a violent
ethnic conflict following the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991. There has been a lot of literature dealing
with the democratization of the Bosnian military over the past twenty years, and taken in
chronological order they reveal the gradual success ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the essay, Herd and Tracy examine a series of issues in the transition of the Bosnian military.
Among these issues are: how can democratic civilian control of the armed forces best be advanced in
Bosnia; does the lack of sovereignty preclude entity authorities from addressing the first generation
agenda in which state institutions are developed, or does the creation of these institutions constitute an
important prerequisite for regaining independent statehood; might a linear sequence of gradual
advancement towards democratic control be reversed; and could developing state capacity pave the
way for creating pan entity institutions and a stable state that could survive without foreign assistance,
direction, and control? He outlines these assertions against the backdrop of the transition of Bosnian
protectorate status from the UN to the EU. A protectorate nominally retains its sovereignty, and its
territory remains distinct from that of the protector. The protector is usually a multinational
organization, the United Nations or a group of lead states, which creates a transitional political
authority, interim international administration, or complex peace operation. Within this transitional
administration, national and international policy makers formulate policy, the exercise of which
depends on the cooperation and coordination of military, political, administrative, and
nongovernmental organizations. The ultimate

Feast Of Tabernacles Research Paper
The Feast of Tabernacles was the third feast the Jews celebrated and it also was one of the pilgrimages
they made. The other two feast celebrated are they Passover and the Pentecost. During these times the
people were required to travel to the Temple. Each of the feasts that went on was celebrated annually.
The Feast of Tabernacles was celebrated in the seventh month, which corresponds with our month of
October, on the fifteenth day and it would last for eight days. The Feast of Tabernacles began when the
harvest was finished which would be five days after the Day of Atonement. The Feast of Tabernacles
can also be known as the Feast of Booths. The Feast of Tabernacles was sometimes called the Feast of
Ingathering because of it marking the end of the harvest, which made it a time of rejoicing. The Feast
of Tables came from the Hebrew word Sukkot. The purpose of the feast was a time to remember the
40 years spent in the wilderness, the journey and deliverance from slavery to the promised land, and to
remind people that we are only pilgrims on the earth. The feast served also as a time to remember God
s direction in the wilderness wanderings. Finally, it served as a time to remember the protection God

  • 2. Cellular Boundaries Are Permeable In biology, I learned that cellular boundaries can be permeable. Initially, this concept was intriguing in and of itself, that cells can release and absorb information to perform necessary functions. Three years later, that particular biology class and the principle it revealed has held a place in my mind. The phrase boundaries are permeable returns to my thoughts at odd times, not always bearing the original scientific connotation. Most often, the phrase returns when there is an overlap in subject matter, an opportunity to bridge ideas that were previously considered distinct to respective areas of study. The three words have remained with me, serving to analogize the ability to effectively apply information across disciplines, something I wish to accomplish on my career path. I aim to utilize my opportunity to receive an education to help equalize societal imbalances. Milk and dairy products are in great abundance throughout the state of California, and is a constant stream of revenue for the state. Therefore, the CDFA sees it fit to make sure that all of the dairy and milk that is produced locally is safe for consumption and that it will live up to a certain standard set by the department. As described in the mission statement from the CDFA, The Milk and Dairy Food Safety Branch (MDFS) is charged with the mission and responsibility of ensuring that California s milk, milk products, and products resembling milk products are safe and wholesome, meet microbial and compositional requirements and are properly labeled. (cdfa.org) As milk and dairy is also a big staple of interstate commerce, it must be adequately prepared even when conditions are less than ideal. A big example of this is seen when we examine the effects that the long drought has had on the crop. Some farmers from outside of the state have even tried to persuade California farmers into moving. As CNBC states in an article, Increasingly every year, there are more states showing up at the World Ag Expo to entice California dairies to move to their states, and they re finding a receptive audience. • 4. Planning Stage Of A Project Essay The main portion of the planning stage of a project is establishing the activities that are necessary to complete the endeavor and defining the resources. This segment of the planning process is crucial in refining the manner in which the work will be completed, as well as delineating the time, resources, and cost of the undertaking. A project manager also designs the system that will be utilized to communicate, monitor, and maintain the project. By creating the activity, communication, and resource structures, a project manager can effectively direct and supervise the execution of an endeavor and increase the chances of a successful outcome. Work Breakdown Structure After the project scope and charter are established, the next part of the planning phase of the endeavor is to create the work breakdown structure (WBS). The WBS is a process that breaks down the project work and deliverables into more controllable components within a hierarchical structured format (PMI, 2013). The elements that are listed at the lowest levels of the WBS are the work packages and can be applied to the activities that are scheduled, valued, monitored and controlled (PMI, 2013). Through this process, a project manager can distinguish the components that will be needed for the endeavor, and have a structured plan to effectively monitor and control the undertaking. One of the techniques that are applied to the creation of the WBS is decomposition. The process of decomposition it the methodology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is continuously sassing people if they disagree with her, and sometimes she just goes out of her way to annoy people. In addition, the reader learns that Lucy has won the World s Number One Fussbudget Award three years in a row, which just further proves how crabby she constantly is. When Schroeder continuously denies her love, she just becomes angrier. There was one day where she was talking with Schroeder and he was not accepting her affection, and so instead of just respecting his opinions, Lucy made sure that everyone would know she was in a bad mood for the rest of the day. Sometimes, Lucy is crabby just to be crabby. Linus made sure to tell her on the one thousandth day in a row she was crabby, and there was no justifiable reason for her to be so crabby all of those days. Lucy then contemplates whether she should continue being crabby, and finally decides that she will continue the tradition because she does not want others to be happy with a not crabby ... The Safety For Illegal Aliens Safety for Illegal Aliens From January to August 2014 over 200 sanctuary cities released some 8,145 illegal aliens despite the fact that they were being held on criminal charges. Of those over 8,000 released, 1,800 of them were charged with crimes such as rape and child sex abuse ( Sanctuary City Crime Wave in 43 States). Although there is no clear definition of sanctuary city each of these cities generally have laws that limit how far government employees and law enforcement officials are allowed to go to aid the federal government on immigration matters. Something needs to be done in order to prevent these cities and their politicians from resisting the federal law and ICE. On July 1, 2015 in San Francisco, CA, a well known sanctuary city, Kathryn Steinle (32), was shot and killed while walking with her father by an undocumented illegal alien Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez. • 7. Trials And Tribulations Of The Muslim Youth Today Ishraq Karim Br. Yusuf Jaaber Islamic Studies October 24, 2015 Trials and Tribulations of the Muslim Youth Today The Youth of Islam today are dwelling in a crisis and it is a shame to say that most of them know not of what they are in engrossed in. Others out of ignorance disobey the commandments of Allah (SWT) and the guidance of the Prophet, Muhammad (SAW), thus bringing upon them the wrath and anger of Allah (SWT). The lack of authentic knowledge and taqwa (fearing and being cautiously aware of Allah) allows the shaytaan to throw in doubts and arrogance into the hearts of the young Muslims. This leads them directly towards the wrong path and straight to the fire. Therefore without knowledge and a firm foundation of taqwa the young Muslim well never see the light and the beauty of the religion they are obligated to embrace. The lack of knowledge and taqwa also opens the doors to many major issues such as identity crisis, venom of the media, bad companionship, love and attachment to the dunya, and lack of confidence. Although there may be more reasons to the downfall of the youth these few that were mentioned are the main issues that the youth must combat because they are things you deal with on a day to day basis. Time is running and day after day we are losing our brothers and sisters to these issues. It is a matter of time before we completely lose them and they become so engulfed in disobedience that they begin to join forces with those who are cursed by Allah (SWT), ... An original breastplate of the High Priest of the Hebrews was said to be made by Moses in 1250 BC, according to instructions he received during 40 days in the mountains. The 12 gems in the breastplate were later linked with the signs of the zodiac, and later still associated with the months in the year. Different cultures have different lists. When heated to 400 or 500 degrees Celsius, an amethyst s color changes to a brownish yellow or red. Under some circumstances, the stones can turn green when heated. Heat may even transform an amethyst into a naturally rare mineral called citrine. And even without heating, the violet color of an amethyst may fade over time. Commercial sources of amethyst are Brazil and Uruguay; while in the U.S., most amethyst is found in Arizona and North Carolina. The amethyst has a rich history of lore and legend. It can be traced back as far as 25,000 years ago in France, where it was used as a decorative stone by prehistoric humans. It has also been found among the remains of Neolithic man. It s said that the signet ring worn by Cleopatra was an amethyst, engraved with the figure of Mithras, a Persian deity symbolizing the Divine Idea, Source of Light and Life. It is also said to be the stone of Saint Valentine, who wore an amethyst engraved with the figure of his assistant, Cupid. Saint Valentine s Day is still observed in February. The word amethyst comes from the Greek word amethystos meaning not drunk, and was believed to prevent its wearers from intoxication. Planet Fitness is a gym that labels itself rather as a fitness club that aspires people of all ages, weights and heights to come and hit the gym. Planet Fitness promises a judgement free environment, allowing for even your most introvert and shy gym goers to enjoy their workout without feeling self conscious because of other gym attendee s opinions. On the workout floor, their facilities are equipped with mostly cardio machines, with some weight machines and an abdominal exercise area. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The biggest flaw that I believe planet fitness possesses is the fact that they live by the policy do not cater to body builders, so that they can create the dream of a judgement free zone . I am about to put a huge hole into the logic of this policy. There is no such thing as judgment free . Judgement and opinion are natural processing agents within the human mind. Everyone judges everyone whether it is acknowledged that they are doing so or not. Also, if it s a judgment free zone, how come the gym is full of illustrations and slang words directed towards a stereotypical bodybuilder? Planet Fitness is being judgmental their selves. By keeping to this policy, Planet Fitness is not only making itself the laughing stock of the fitness industry, but it is also losing a large, plentiful amount of potential customers. Now that I ve gotten that flaw out of the way, my second biggest frustration with Planet Fitness is the food and candy the facility offers. When people sign up for the gym, they are also signing a personal contact with their selves to be a better, heathier version of their selves. This process involves not only working out, but it also involves dieting, creating a balanced meal plan based on their goals, and being able to say no to eating poorly all the time and instead ... • 10. Shrek Research Papers DreamWorks Animation has released over 30 animated films since 1998. Among their highest grossing films are the Shrek franchise, Madagascar 3, and Kung Fu Panda 2. For this analysis I shall be looking at Shrek 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2, and examining what may make these movies a bit unsuccessful despite their success. Shrek 2 is DreamWorks highest grossing film at $919.8 million worldwide, topping its first film Shrek. This film may be the highest grossing film but what about it may have fallen short? I found the opening of the movie using a storybook to not be as successful as its usage in the first Shrek. The issue of using the storybook may have stemmed from how they transitioned to the actually movie, having the 2D storybook picture of Prince Charming suddenly change into the 3D model was a bit jarring and could have been done better. Using a different way to deliver the opening monologue, or even changing the dialogue so it didn t have to be read as if it were a storybook could have fixed this issue. DreamWorks tends to shift the style they animate in from movie to movie and the Shrek franchise happens to be one where their animation style is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 2D style for Po s flashbacks works fine at times with the 3D aspects of the film, but then they also have a cutout sequence at the beginning of the film that has a completely different design. The 2D animation works better with the 2D in my opinion, while I feel like the cutout animation is out of place. If they wanted to have the opening in a different style I would suggest sticking with only 2 styles of animation in the movie. I do have to say that the visuals of the film were stunning, the color palates looked very nice and I specifically enjoyed the contrast of red and black that was often used during fight sequences with Lord ... • 13. Advantages Of Economic Profit 1.0 INTRODUCTION In finance, the proposed objective of the firm is the maximisation of economic profit. This maximising objective is expressed in terms of the market value of the firm s shares. These notions should not be confused with accounting profit which usually attempts to match periodic revenues and expenses as well as other concepts. As a result, accounting profit is somewhat arbitrary and fails to take account of all factors which affect shareholders wealth. However, maximization of profit is far too broad a definition of what is likely to be beneficial to shareholders. 2.1 Why is profit maximisation not the best operational goal? Emery and Finnerty (1997) posit three important reasons why profit maximization is not the best operational goal. First, profit maximization is vague. Profit has many different definitions. Do we mean accounting profits (based on book values) or economic profit (based on market value and beyond a fair return)? Secondly, profit maximization ignores differences in when we get the money. Profit maximization does not distinguish between getting a cedi today and getting a cedi in the future, such as a year from today. Third, profit maximization ignores risk differences between alternatives. When given a choice between two alternatives that have the same return but different risk, most people choose the less risky one. This makes the less risky alternative more valuable. • 14. The Brand Of Brand Loyalty Furthermore, the publication suggests that the brand loyalty is correlated with market share. So, the bigger the company is, the more loyalty among its customers. And, this is true because the more people get to know the company, its services, and its products, the more brand identity it will form among current customers. Also, large companies benefit from having more loyal customers because they engage in word of mouth activities which can potentially attract more customers. So, there are many ways in which a company can increase their loyalty levels. But, when it comes to increasing market share, a better way could involve the increase in revenues among consumers. This can be done by opening more stores, offering products online, and by offering volume discounts. And, as a result, the company may be able to increase revenues and potentially increase its market share. Eventually, it could lead to an increase in the amount of loyal customers overall. Moreover, it can be said that loyalty programs and other related marketing activities can only make a difference in the long run because the result are hardly noticeable in the short run due to the fact that it takes time for a buyer to become an actual loyal customer. When it comes to developing a well designed loyalty program, marketers should take into account the value being offered to consumers with respect to the prices of the products. This means that a company should offer reasonable rewards to the customers after they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The filmmakers trace Hasidism from its origins in Eastern Europe to its arrival in the United States, interweaved by the Holocaust with lasting impacts. They reject pop culture and are hostile to other groups. Their religion governs every aspect of their lifestyles, including strict dietary choices, limited careers, and patriarchal structures. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to some groups of Protestants, Hasidic Jews are equally as conservative, with some of the same issues overlapping. Furthermore, the struggle for Hasidic Jews to mesh with American culture reminds me of the Conservative Movement in the 1880s. The Jewish Theological Seminary wanted to integrate more traditional readings of the Torah to modern American society. Similarly, the Hebrew Union Seminary wanted to revise the rabbi class and encourage Jews to attend synagogues. This resulted in many versions of Judaism, and many even regarded America as their Zion. On the other hand, Hasidic Jews were unwilling to adapt, and regarded their Eastern European origins as their Zion. Another sect we discussed in class were the Orthodox Jews, who are an umbrella term to the Hasidic Jews. Although Orthodox Jews see themselves as nothing but traditional, they are modern because of the conscious choice to stick to Jewish values. This is especially ironic in the documentary, when in fact Hasidic Jews are actually modern. In the Jewish Food and Jewish Identity reading, the author explores how Judaism has become such an optional religion. After watching the film, it is apparent why Hasidic Jews exhibited so much tension even to other members in the same overall religion. • 16. Sugar Vs Ice What makes ice melt faster, salt or sugar? For a fact, almost anything that can be dissolved in water will be able to melt ice. (Lynch, 2016, pg 1). Well, salt is known to be used on icy roads during the winter. Salt affects the freezing point of the ice, which causes the falling snow and the snow that is on the ground to melt more and not freeze less. Like salt, sugar also melts the ice by affecting the freezing point of ice. Both sugar and salt affect the formation of the water molecules when they change the freezing point of the ice. The treatment for PMDD is similar to that for major depression, which consists of antidepressants and psychotherapy. A woman suffering from PMDD has to take antidepressants not just during the time her symptoms occur, but on a regular basis. Psychotherapy helps a woman cope with the harsh symptoms and other challenges in her life (6). I have seen that phrase and its slightly more common counterpart, Well behaved women rarely make history many times. It is especially popular in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a medieval history research and reenactment group in which I participate, and is often accompanied by images of female fighters in armor wielding swords. Most recently I saw it emblazoned upon my girlfriend s chest on a medieval themed t shirt that she bought at a recent SCA event. I have never thought much about the slogan except for the fact that it generally represents women who make themselves known in unforgettable ways and are remembered mostly for disrupting the status quo. Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, an author and professor of history at Harvard University, introduced the phrase in a 1976 journal article about the characterization of women in Puritan funeral sermons. Ulrich more recently wrote a book, based on the phrase, that explores how women in the past have challenged the ways history was written. In her essay Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History, Ulrich discusses the history of the phrase, how it was coined, and how it has taken on a life of its own.
