Similarities Between Japan And Canadian Government
Japan and Canada are on opposite sides of the world, but are they on opposite sides of government?
That s what I ve been researching about for the past three weeks.
TYPE OF GOVERNMENT
Japan is a constitutional monarchy, which means that the emperor s power is limited and saved for
special ceremonies. Canada is also a constitutional monarchy, where Queen Elizabeth II plays a
symbolic role instead of a position in power.
STRUCTURES AND FUNTIONS
Japans government is sorted into three branches; the judicial branch, the legislative branch, and the
executive branch. Similarly, Canada has the same branches.
In Japan executive powers are exclusively in the Cabinet, which consists of a prime minister and the
ministers he or she appoints. The prime minister, is appointed by the emperor, by the Diet. The prime
minister appoints the other members of the Cabinet, all of whom must be members of the legislature.
The Cabinet is responsible to the Diet and must resign if the House of Representatives passes a vote
that takes them off a seat of power. In Canada the executive branch holds the positions of the
lieutenant governor: W. Thomas Molloy, premier, cabinet, and public service. In Canada the lieutenant
governor is appointed by the governor general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The emperor appoints the chief justice upon designation by the Cabinet, which also appoints the other
justices. The judges can only be removed by public impeachment. The Supreme Court determines the
constitutionality of laws and all its decisions are final. It supervises a system of four inferior courts: A
High Court, which rules on appeals of judgments by the lower courts; a District Court; a Family
Court; and a Summary Court. In Canada the supreme court is also the highest court, a court of last
appeal. The supreme court of Canada has nine judges, one of the judges is the chief justice and eight

Abstract Of Electromagnetic Automatic Checkout System Essay
ABSTRACT
Electromagnetic Automatic Checkout System (EMACOS) is a self checkout system for providing
collective information systems with the identity of each physical item carrying Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) technology in the supply chain in an automated and timely manner. The real
time availability of item identity allows the items to be scanned and checked out for a faster, more
accurately and an automatized service, leading to increase timeliness. In the context of supply chain
operations, universal introduction of such system shows a major probability to overhaul and enhance
self checkout systems, process management and stock management. It is possible that EMACOS may
re engineer the whole supply chain in the future, by eliminating a number of the constraints (such as
Barcode) that restrict todays supply chain system. This essay analyses the current checkout systems in
supply chains and introduces the main elements of the EMACOS system using Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) technology. This system claims to benefit Pak nSave, one of the biggest discount
food warehouse chains in New Zealand.

Impact of the Great Depression on Chile and Peru
In the opening pages of her novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee wrote these words: There was no
hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy and no money to buy it with...but it was a time of
vague optimism for some of the people: Maycomb County had recently been told that it had nothing to
fear but fear itself. Lee alludes to the seemingly inadequate reassurance that United States President
Franklin D. Roosevelt provided during his inauguration speech at the onset of the Great Depression,
while also describing the melancholy and hopelessness that many citizens felt. This sentiment,
however, was not just confined to the United States the impact of the Wall Street Crash of 1929 had
also reverberated throughout Latin America, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government also advocated the development of domestic industry in order to protect Chile from
future external economic shocks. Thus, Chile, like many other Latin American nations at the time,
adopted a policy of import substitution industrialization. Its aim was to encourage the creation of
homegrown industries to replace Latin American dependence on foreign manufactured goods
(Berliner) which was done in part by establishing quotas, licenses, and higher tariffs on imports and a
strict exchange rate in Chile. Prior to the Great Depression, Chile had prospered amidst the workings
of free market and mercantilist polices. The Great Depression, however, disrupted this, as it brought
about the necessity of government intervention in the economy. Indeed, government intervention even
stretched so far as to transform Chile into a nation insulated by protectionist policies. Furthermore, the
Great Depression had undoubtedly brought about a political crisis in Chile with the ousting of Ibáñez
del Campo in 1931, who himself had partaken in a military coup d état to achieve presidency in the
first place. It has even been posited that the nationalization of copper that had begun during the
presidency of Ibáñez del Campo and which was completed during the presidency of Salvador Allende
in the early 1970s built the foundation for a future international economic boycott, which further

Money Is Not The Answer

Money Is Not the Answer Today, the world constantly revolves around money. The endless cycle of
working for money, saving money, and spending money has become an almost mandatory aspect of
life. One can hardly turn a corner these days without seeing an advertisement endorsing the purchase
of a particular item. These are signs that greed has become more and more present in contemporary
society. It is commonly observed that the more money someone possesses, the more they want to
obtain. They tend to become greedier and greedier, until they reach an ultimate point where there is
complete disregard for others in their pursuit a solution to their problems through wealth. Dickens saw
this trend very clearly, and manipulated different characters in Great Expectations, such as Joe and
Miss Havisham, to show the theme that money is not what defines a person, but rather, true inner
wealth is calculated by a person s actions and relationship to others. Dickens uses the character of Joe
to express the theme of true worth. It is seen repeatedly that Joe has a hugely caring attitude towards
others, no matter who they are or what they do. Joe embodies the idea of true inner value in his actions
and relationships to others. This occurs before Pip has received his expectations, where Joe
sympathises with Pip when others abuse him. For instance, when Mrs. Joe s dinner guests start to
criticise Pip, Joe always aided and comforted me [Pip]

Rainforest Biome Ecosystem Analysis
The biome ecosystem of the rainforest is a wonderful place, full of animals, color, and life. It has the
largest diversity of living organism and plants on earth, with rich biodiversity. The Rainforest supports
about 50% of the plants and animal living on earth. The rainforest is located in a tropical region. This
allows them to receives lots of sunlight, giving plants the energy they need and a wide variety of food
for the organisms. The rainforest provides an abundance of sources of shelter, food, and hiding places

damages to the quality of the forest decreasing the chances of goods that are able to be produced.
Human activities not only cause harm to the animals and creatures that live there but also to their own

Carl Jung s Theory Of The Mind Challenged The Existing Dogma
Carl Gustav Jung II was a psychiatrist whose theories of the mind challenged the existing dogma. His
works with human cognition, the basic structure of the psyche, and association experiments are widely
known today in the form of the concepts of the introvert and the extrovert, psychological archetypes,
and basic tests of word association. Although many basic principles of psychology today are based
upon his original discoveries and theories, they were not conceived without external insight. Social,
economic, and cultural influences upon Carl Jung greatly affected his lifetime achievements and
provided inspiration for many of his theories. Born Carl Gustav Jung II on July 26, 1875, to Emilie
Preiswerk and the pastor Paul Jung in Kesswil, Switzerland, he was not without a notable ancestral
background. Jung s paternal grandfather, Dr. Med. Karl Gustav Jung I, an expatriate from Germany
who engaged in liberal political agitation, drew fame to himself upon moving to Switzerland when he
reformed the University of Basel, established moderate wealth, and participated in local government.
(Bair 7 8). Carl Jung s maternity was no less distinguished in its own right; both of Emilie Preiswerk s
parents were favorably regarded in their own community, though both were intensely superstitious,
ascribing mystical causes to their frequent visions, which were peculiar to the Preiswerk family. The
hereditary nature of these visions accounts for a set of Jung s experiences in his youth (Bair

Statement Of Purpose Of Physical Chemistry
Statement of Purpose
It was an introductory class on physical chemistry and our chemistry teacher was teaching us the
allotropes of carbon . At the end of the class, he asked us, What do you think makes a small piece of
diamond more precious than tons of charcoal , although they are made up of same carbon atoms ?
Is it its appearance? No. It s the pressure that the carbon endured for thousands of years to become a
diamond . A diamond is just a piece of charcoal that handled the pressure well , he quoted. No
pressure, No diamond. Pressure shapes a diamond, in the same way, persistence in challenging

Differences And Similarities Between Hitler And Stalin
Imagine a person killing over several million people over a few years in their quest for power. Two
most famous rulers or better called dictators, tyrants, etc immediately come to mind: Adolf Hitler and
Joseph Stalin who killed for power and changed the world for the worse. They showed humanity how
evil and monstrous people could be. Both of them had very bad childhood like poverty, family issues
in that Adolf Hitler was born out of wedlock as a Catholic on April 20, 1889 in Braunau am Inn,
Austria. He pursued a career in Arts and moved to Vienna in 1908 1913 but was in poverty and lived
in homeless shelters and was influenced by German racist nationalism by a politician called Georg

The comedy genre is designed to give us humor and provide us with laughs. This can be done in an
often extremely exaggerated manner. Some jokes may even stick with us for a lifetime after we ve
watch the movie. The films that I chose to watch for the comedy genre were Animal House (1978) and
The Newsroom (1987).Animal House (1978) is a comedy film directed by John Land is. Even though
it was Shot in 1978 this movie takes place during 1962.This film follows a quest plot of college frat
students(The Delta Tau Chi)trying to make their way through school, while opposing a rival frat
(Omega Theta Pi) house and an ill tempered dean who has it out to get them. The conflict of this
movie is man vs. man or in this specific case man vs. dean. The film starts with Larry Kroeger and
Kent Dorfman checking out frat houses to join. Larry is an average handsome guy and Dorfman is his
goofy and chubby companion. They start at the Omega Theta Pi house and soon feel out of place by
their aesthetic, so they visit Delta Tau Chi and fall in love with the idea of joining this frat house.
Other members of the house include Bluto (John), Otter (Eric), Boon (Donald), D Day (Daniel),
Hoover, and Stork. Shortly after pledging and gaining admittance to the frat the group is challenged by
the Dean because of their violated probations and places them on Secret Double probation. The Dean
hates the Deltas and is ambitious about getting their frat removed from Faber College. The Deltas

Food Justice And Food Retail
All food should be available to all people. The concept of this is dwelled on in the article, Food justice
and Food retail in Los Angeles by Mark Valliantos. Throughout the article, Valliantos maintains the
notion that healthy food should be within everyone s reach, yet inner cities are still suffering from
shortages of fresh produce. To see this issue in action, Valliantos documented this reoccurring
phenomenon in Los Angeles. The author gives a description of two areas within the city of Los
Angeles, and how they are economically divided based on the amount of healthy produce one has at
its disposal. He makes note of programs that already exist to help low income families receive healthy
foods that they could not afford. He also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lower income, however, has a very small supply of fresh produce at its disposal. Grocery stores
such as Wal Mart are stationed in the lower income portion of the city because the store has a large
selection of lower priced goods. Agricultural workers such as famers would not sell their goods in this
area because their profit would be too low to even be considered profit. In most cases, the only place
to shop for food in the lower income portion of the city, are either convenient stores or liquor stores.
There are more fast food joints, than restaurants and local pop up stands barely sell anything fresh.
Not only is the city divided based on income, but its also due to race. The author makes note of this
when he addresses volatile events such as the Rodney King Riots. He then points out that minorities
suffer the most when it comes to fresh food availability. There are actions that are being taken today,
to help increase the number of supermarkets that are available in low inner city areas. By appealing to
ethos, Valliantos is able to get his point of view across to the reader. Throughout the article, Valliantos
uses ethos to describe how the Center for Food and Justice took over responsibility for Project Café.
He then uses this to cooperate with members of the community. By being a part of the Center for Food
and Justice organization, Valliantos is able to speak to the ethical side of the

A war on freedom is brewing in Indiana because a law that ostracizes LGBTQ community members

segregation between the LGBTQ and surrounding communities. On March 26, 2015, Indiana
Governor Mike Pence signed Indiana Senate Bill 101, better known as the Religious Freedom

Lodz Ghetto Thesis
LODZ GHETTO
The Lodz Ghetto was located in Poland. During its time throughout the events of World War II, it was
the second largest concentration camp in construction, only to Auschwitz Birkenau located in southern
Poland and opened up in 1940. We also saw the railroad tracks that were at the concentration camp
during the tour at the Holocaust museum. The Lodz Ghetto was started one week after capture on the
date of September 14th, 1939. It was as well one of the first camps to be started under Germanic reign
during World War II as well. Over 160,000 Jews were stuffed into to the poorly sanitized area. On
November 7, 1939, Lodz was incorporated into the Third Reich and the Nazi s changed its name to
Litzmannstadt, named after a German general who died while attempting to conquer Lodz in World
War I.
The next several months were marked by daily round ups of Jews for forced labor as well as random
beatings and killings on the streets. It was easy to distinguish between Pole and Jew because on
November 16, 1939 the Nazi s had ordered Jews to wear an armband on their right arm. The armband
was the precursor to the Star Of David which was soon to follow on December 12, 1939. On

f. Bicycle market are well developed within Western countries.
2. What evaluative criteria are used in purchasing bikes? Is the country of manufacturer effect
important for mountain bikes?
A. Bicycle consumers evaluate bicycles for their technology to include low weight, durable, stylish,
and performance. Consumers are also concerned about price and service. Also the demographic of
peer ownership will influence consumer purchasing criteria. Clearly the college in Colorado had a few
select brands. Some manufacturers are fortunate to capture these traits within their brand. Trek has
successfully secured 24% of the market and is a respected brand.
B. If Schwinn is able to successfully market mountain biking as truly American than Made in America
will positively impact consumer purchasing. As with automotive purchases, consumers of bicycles are
driven to purchase the product that best meets their needs. Country of origin matters greatly when the
quality is lacking. Schwinn will need to market American made the whole time knowing most of their
bicycle frames are made outside of America.

The Helmet Of A Motorcycle Car
The History of helmets go all the way back to 1966 and earlier. The first helmet for a
motorized vehicle was made in motivation. The man with the brilliant plan was Dr. Hugh Cairns.
He was determined to come up with a solution to make motorized vehicles safer when his dear
friend T.E Lawrence who died from a motorcycle crash.
After that idea a man with the name of Professor C.F Lombard of Southern California
made and patented a helmet made of layers of leather to disperse and absorb the impact of a
crash. Well that was the theory any ways sadly, the first models were ineffective, due to lack of
materials to use. It would take years for research in materials and design of the helmet to make
it successful.

1: Thermoplastic which is hot plastic, that means it can be poured into molds and then cooled
to form the shell of a helmet. These helmets are not that hard and require extra padding (which
is usually foam) to meet safety standards.
2: Fiber Glass These shells cost more than plastic. This is because they are harder to make. To
make these helmets it requires layer and layers of fiber cloth. The advantage of these shells are
they are harder and lighter than plastic. This shell is also good at absorbing impact.
3: Kevlar These helmets shells are very strong which then means there doesn t need to be as
many layers. Since there are less layers there is more room for padding. This concludes with the
result that Kevlar helmets are very light weight and smaller which makes these helmets the
best on the market. (Nine, 2014)

time of 0 days duration. A milestone is defined as a significant event of no duration (Project
Management Institute, 2012). Therefore, a crisis and a milestone share similar properties with respect
to their time dimension.
The key difference between an emergency and a disaster lies in the resourcefulness of the organization
or state and the need for external intervention. Since, a crisis moment is difficult to identify by
focusing on the occurrence of the point in time; we should then divert our attention to significant shifts
in resource needs as a basis for determining crisis points.

Weimar Republic Failure
There are many historians that believe the Weimar Republic was doomed from the beginning of its
existence as a rump state of the once powerful German Empire. Other historians believe the republic is
not such a failure as it seems in textbooks and online articles. Both sides unanimously agree that the
Weimar Republic was a failed attempt at bringing democracy to a predominantly monarchical (and
tyrannical) Europe. The majority of historians that agree the ill fated Weimar Republic was a smudge
on Germany during the Interwar Period have a large amount of validities to support that claim.
However, these validities also apply to the latter (to a lesser extent) , with one major problem resolved
by the republic. One of the claims is that the Weimar Republic was simply too weak to establish itself
as a political power in Germany, being contested by left and right wing extremist groups. There were
often frequent rebellions in Germany, led by Communists and Marxists. The military at the time was
far too outnumbered to quell these rebellions in their own jurisdiction. Another major impediment was
the hyperinflation of the currency of that time, the German Mark. After the Great War, Germany was
in a state of utter devastation and rebellion. The Kaiser had just fled Germany, and she was now
without a leader, essentially cutting head off the snake. The military had also returned in a similar
shape. The German economy was in ruins. The Weimar Republic was still responsible for

Dream Interpretation For Beginners Summary
A person opens their eyes and realizes that they are are on a gigantic chocolate chip cookie boat,
flowing down a warm, white, milky river. When the person looks all around from the milky river, the
person sees mountains that are made of ice cream and are topped with whipped cream and cherries on
top. They are in paradise. They awake to a loud sound, and as the milky river and ice cream mountains
fade away, they realize it was all just a dream. Dreams are a series of thoughts, images and sensations
that occur in a person s mind when they are sleep. Peoples views on dreaming today are similar yet
different in a way, from what people believed back then. Sigmund Freud s beliefs and theories were
believed by many people, including one of his theories called day residue. There are several facts and
information on the scientific background behind dreaming, such as the sleeping and dreaming
structure, rapid eye movement sleep, and non rapid eye movement sleep. There is also a lot of

People of the world are in need to find and develop new sources of energy to power their lives. Owing
to the increasing demand for electrical energy, world s fossil fuel supply will thus be depleted in a few
decades. Hence, alternative or renewable sources of energy have to be developed to meet the future
energy requirement. Grid connected wind capacity is undergoing through fastest rate of growth
compared to any other form of renewable power generation, achieving global annual growth rates of
20 30 %. The power electronic converters play a major role in wind energy conversion system for
controlling and conditioning of output power from wind energy. During last few years matrix
converters and multi level converter topologies have generated significant interest. This paper
discusses the diode clamped multilevel matrix converter design for double fed induction generator
based wind energy conversion system. The MATLAB/SIMULINK software is used for analyzing the
converter performance.
Index Terms Double fed induction generator, diode clamped multilevel matrix converters, grid, matrix

Comparison Of Mountains Of Collioure By Andre Derain
What I initially noticed when looking at the landscape painting Mountains of Collioure(1908), by
Andre Derain was that the brushstroke is like of the impressionists, in which the strokes are short and
thin, as well as seldom use of the color black. It is also highly contrasted in color, with many hues of
various colors. I also notice that if it were painted by a kid it makes sense that the painting s colors
would not match the natural colors of the actual subject matter within the painting. The mountains are
off colored from the natural color using different tones and shades of orange and blue, while the trees
are somewhat natural, with the use of darkened orange, and intermediate hues such as blue
green, yellow green, and others. Also notice

The Ideal Parent: Brightening a Childs Future Parenting is a big part of every ones lives; it makes up
who you are as a person and in many cases projects who you will be in the future. Some adults have
trouble manipulating their children and teaching them what is right from wrong, while others have a
much easier time doing so. In my opinion there is no such thing as the perfect parent , both the mother
and the father have their flaws, but what matters is that the parent is always there for personal support.
To me a good parent is someone who is always there to support there children in both good and bad
terms, and a responsible adult that can supply for their kids necessities, ... Show more content on

The father is un employed and the mother is making the same amount as her teenage daughter. This
shows a lack of responsibility coming from both parents because at this age the parents should be
concerned about the daughter going to school and both parents should have a job accounted for. The
irresponsibility s of the parents can affect a child from a young age, not only does it complicates the
life of the kid, but the parents do a poor job of teaching a child the values of being responsible. One
parent shows responsibilities for their kids while the other parent shows no remorse for her daughter.
Finally, being a leader and a hard worker not only in your children s lives but also in society is what
makes a huge difference between a great parent and a mediocre parent. Showing a child the values of
leadership and hard work can make a kids future that much better. A parent that holds these two
characteristics and is able to put them to use in society will not only be a great example for their kids,
but a superb example of a great parent. In the poem Those Winter Sundays , Hayden illustrates the
hard work and leadership this father puts in for the family to have a nice comfortable living. Sundays
too my father got up early and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold, then with cracked hands that
ached from labor in the weekday weather made banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him. (1 5)

Kwame Nkrumah s Impact On The Contribution Of The...
Throughout human history, there have been multiples leaders that have sought to implement change
and bring prosperity to their people and definitely, Kwame Nkrumah is one of them. Indeed, Nkrumah
is one of the leading figures in the fight against colonialism not only in Ghana, his country, but also in
the continent of Africa itself, and across the world. He sought to challenge the colonial powers and
their system of global capitalism by implementing the socialist route once he achieved the
independence of Ghana from the British Empire in 1957. Although, Nkrumah was not successful in
his plan and after nine years as President of Ghana, he was removed from power, he still played a
major role on the development of the Pan Africanism movement and its huge impact in different parts
of the world. To recall, Pan Africanism is the principle of the political union of all indigenous
inhabitants of Africa. In other words, this movement encouraged the African people all over the globe
to unite as one and fight for their independence and rights to not be colonized and exploited anymore.
From his early years of life, Nkrumah experienced first hand the exploitation and suffering of the
African people. While he was attending the Lincoln University and later, University of Pennsylvania,
he had the opportunity to get involved in political organizations that would help his African brothers
not only in the United States, but also back in Africa. For this reason, he joined a group of African

Solar Heartbeat
The first discovery that we will talk about in this essay, is the discovery of the solar heartbeat .
Scientists have discovered a pulse within the Sun that lies in the layers of gas that revolve underneath
the surface of the Sun. Scientists discovered that the Sun s equatorial region rotates at rate that differs
from the rate at which the Sun s polar regions rotate. The equatorial region rotating once every twenty
seven days, and the polar regions, every thirty five days. This differential in rotations extends down a
third of the way to the Sun s core, in the convection layer. Rotations at the convection layer also differ
from the Sun s equatorial and polar regions, taking only fifteen to sixteen days to complete a
revolution. It is believed by astronomers that these internal rotating gas layers are in correspondence
with eruptions and solar flares on the surface of the Sun.

Boosting Your Workouts
The best way to boost a weight training workout is with supersets, forced repetition, periodization or

weight. According to Men s Fitness, A superset is when one set of an exercise is performed directly
after a set of a different exercise without rest between them. Once each superset is complete, then rest
for one and a half to two minutes to recover (Men s Fitness, 2016). For example, performing a set of
dips then immediately performing a set of crunches, followed by a rest is considered a superset. Now
we can get more detailed and match our sets according to a specific gain or goal. There is the

weight for your first set, a middle weight for your second set, and your heaviest weight for you third
and final set. You lower the repititions so you can complete the set. As you gets stronger, you can raise
the overall weight limits. For example.
Set 1: 15 repetitions 1 pound dumbbells
Set 2: 12 repetitions 2 pound dumbbells
Set 3: 10 repetitions 3 pound dumbbells.
Very soon, you would be using 2, 3 and 5 pound dumbbells, then 3, 5 and 8 pound dumbbells. It is
simple and keeps you from getting bored with the same old routine. I like this method the best because
I rather be a little strong in all areas, then only strong in one area and become weak everywhere else.
You never get bored and at the same time, you will be constantly challenging your muscles. It is the
safest way to train if your not regularly strethching before training. There is even more to the pyramid
system, it is easyer to track your sets, you wont get boderd of the weights when it feels too easy.

Sickle Cell Disease And Cancer
Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemias Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and Thalassemias are similar blood
disorders with some important differences. Sickle Cell Disease is a disorder where the red blood cells
are sickle shaped, which causes them to stick to vessel walls preventing much needed oxygen from
traveling through the body. Thalassemias has normal looking red blood cells, but the body does not
make enough healthy cells or hemoglobin. This means there is a lack of oxygen because the body does
not produce enough blood or hemoglobin to carry it throughout the body. The two diseases have basic
similarities reflected by the concepts regarding diagnosing and treatment plans. They also differ in
many ways; for example, Sickle Cell consist of more complications than the Thalassemias disorder.
Thalassemia, however, affects more ethnic backgrounds and numbers of the afflicted are spread over a
greater geographical area. Sickle Cell and Thalassemia can be diagnosed by a blood test that checks
for certain genetic markers. Generally a person will have two hemoglobin genes. If testing determined
you are missing one, or both, then you are either a carrier or you have Thalassemia. Sickle Cell testing
does not look for missing genes, as in testing for Thalassemia, it is looking for an abnormal
hemoglobin gene. If you have one or both of these genes, the result is the same as Thalassemia, you
are either a carrier or you have the disease. Being a carrier of either of the

Manet s Bar At The Folies Bergere
Manet s Bar at the Folies Bergère, one of the most perplexing and mysterious paintings to exist, holds
deep meaning and reflects French social life in this era. This work of art illustrates a Parisian
nightclub, the Folies Bergère, which catered to a diverse set of acts including the circus and ballet. It is
here that the Barmaid works and where we see the interaction between her and the gentleman. This is
where an extremely important concept of the work appears perspective. Throughout the years there
have been numerous interpretations and claims concerning why Manet painted the scene as he did,
whether or not the perspective is accurate, and how all of the elements including the mirror and
woman come together. Another fascinating element that comes from this scene is the social aspects of
French life during this time. This element comes into play in the relationship between the barmaid and
the gentleman in the top hat, the woman s expression, and the occupation of the woman. Although
there are many enlightening interpretations of Manet s work, there is one that is particularly strong.
Manet s use of perspective and inclusion of social matters both engages the viewer and leads them to
ponder what it is exactly that they are viewing. A reason this painting has sparked so much interest and
analysis is the mind boggling perspective and reflection. One of the first observations the viewer
makes is that the barmaid and the barmaid s reflection do not go together. Pullman

Considering Learning About The World s Complications Essay
Considering learning about the world s complications is quite strenuous, it is only realistic that thirst
for environmental action arise. When taking a break and getting a bottle of water, another call to
action is found in the style of carbon dioxide discharge reduction via water bottles. Not partaking in
the sales of plastic water bottles and instead investing in a reusable bottle can dramatically decrease
the carbon emissions of plastic bottle manufacturers. A special kind of plastic called polyethylene
terephthalate (PET) is melted down to manufacture water bottles, and the process of making the
material itself involves producing around 3 tons of carbon dioxide for every ton of PET made.
Annually, this creates more than 2.6 billion tons of CO2 emissions just from the bottled water industry
( Bottled water and energy factsheet, 2007). Along with the PET engineering emissions, the oil burned
to produce water bottles releases even more C02. It takes around 3.4 megajoules of energy to make a
typical one liter (33 ounce) plastic bottle, cap, and packaging. Making enough PET to bottle America s
yearly quota of water requires more than 106 billion megajoules of energy. Because a barrel of oil
contains around 6,000 megajoules, the Pacific Institute figures more than 17 million barrels of oil
were needed to produce the nation s water bottles ( Bottled water and energy factsheet, 2007). Because
a barrel of oil, when burned, releases almost 700 lbs. of C02, the environmental

Sociotechnical Systems and Management Styles Essay
Sociotechnical Systems and Management Styles In today s advanced technological workplace,
companies are looking into several new management styles and concepts. Among them is a theory
called sociotechnical systems (STS). This is a theory that has been around for about 50 years and is
still being attempted for use today. Many managers along with one member of the STS founding team,
Fred Emery, argue that STS is obsolete; other managers have implemented STS with great success.
With this new style of management practice, several changes will have to take place. These changes
along with several examples of both positive and negative effects will be examined throughout this

Is STS Obsolete (Practical)?
Sociotechnical systems have been around for a long time now. Conventional STS has been integrated
into classroom instruction at the graduate level. While trying to do this, STS lost many of its unwritten
detailed subject matter and has been made conceptually complicated as well as mathematically
complex.3 Another problem that Fred Emery states in his article is the overselling of STS. The
pressures for STS to work by itself have raised the theory at an extremely high standard waiting for
pitfalls in the process. Steve Canbana in his article on participative design states, Over the years it has
become apparent that traditional socio technical systems (STS) design contains a number of pitfalls
that frequently have led to implementation failure or partial success. 4 A third issue lies in problems

  • 2. Similarities Between Japan And Canadian Government Japan and Canada are on opposite sides of the world, but are they on opposite sides of government? That s what I ve been researching about for the past three weeks. TYPE OF GOVERNMENT Japan is a constitutional monarchy, which means that the emperor s power is limited and saved for special ceremonies. Canada is also a constitutional monarchy, where Queen Elizabeth II plays a symbolic role instead of a position in power. STRUCTURES AND FUNTIONS Japans government is sorted into three branches; the judicial branch, the legislative branch, and the executive branch. Similarly, Canada has the same branches. In Japan executive powers are exclusively in the Cabinet, which consists of a prime minister and the ministers he or she appoints. The prime minister, is appointed by the emperor, by the Diet. The prime minister appoints the other members of the Cabinet, all of whom must be members of the legislature. The Cabinet is responsible to the Diet and must resign if the House of Representatives passes a vote that takes them off a seat of power. In Canada the executive branch holds the positions of the lieutenant governor: W. Thomas Molloy, premier, cabinet, and public service. In Canada the lieutenant governor is appointed by the governor general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The emperor appoints the chief justice upon designation by the Cabinet, which also appoints the other justices. The judges can only be removed by public impeachment. The Supreme Court determines the constitutionality of laws and all its decisions are final. It supervises a system of four inferior courts: A High Court, which rules on appeals of judgments by the lower courts; a District Court; a Family Court; and a Summary Court. In Canada the supreme court is also the highest court, a court of last appeal. The supreme court of Canada has nine judges, one of the judges is the chief justice and eight other regular ... • 3. Abstract Of Electromagnetic Automatic Checkout System Essay ABSTRACT Electromagnetic Automatic Checkout System (EMACOS) is a self checkout system for providing collective information systems with the identity of each physical item carrying Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in the supply chain in an automated and timely manner. The real time availability of item identity allows the items to be scanned and checked out for a faster, more accurately and an automatized service, leading to increase timeliness. In the context of supply chain operations, universal introduction of such system shows a major probability to overhaul and enhance self checkout systems, process management and stock management. It is possible that EMACOS may re engineer the whole supply chain in the future, by eliminating a number of the constraints (such as Barcode) that restrict todays supply chain system. This essay analyses the current checkout systems in supply chains and introduces the main elements of the EMACOS system using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. This system claims to benefit Pak nSave, one of the biggest discount food warehouse chains in New Zealand. TABLE OF CONTENTS 1. INTRODUCTION Since the invention of computers, they are used to process raw data, analyse and display converted data into useful information to the end users. Entering the information about an item requires repeated data entry which can be burdensome, costly and error prone. Because of this, many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Impact of the Great Depression on Chile and Peru In the opening pages of her novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee wrote these words: There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy and no money to buy it with...but it was a time of vague optimism for some of the people: Maycomb County had recently been told that it had nothing to fear but fear itself. Lee alludes to the seemingly inadequate reassurance that United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt provided during his inauguration speech at the onset of the Great Depression, while also describing the melancholy and hopelessness that many citizens felt. This sentiment, however, was not just confined to the United States the impact of the Wall Street Crash of 1929 had also reverberated throughout Latin America, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The government also advocated the development of domestic industry in order to protect Chile from future external economic shocks. Thus, Chile, like many other Latin American nations at the time, adopted a policy of import substitution industrialization. Its aim was to encourage the creation of homegrown industries to replace Latin American dependence on foreign manufactured goods (Berliner) which was done in part by establishing quotas, licenses, and higher tariffs on imports and a strict exchange rate in Chile. Prior to the Great Depression, Chile had prospered amidst the workings of free market and mercantilist polices. The Great Depression, however, disrupted this, as it brought about the necessity of government intervention in the economy. Indeed, government intervention even stretched so far as to transform Chile into a nation insulated by protectionist policies. Furthermore, the Great Depression had undoubtedly brought about a political crisis in Chile with the ousting of Ibáñez del Campo in 1931, who himself had partaken in a military coup d état to achieve presidency in the first place. It has even been posited that the nationalization of copper that had begun during the presidency of Ibáñez del Campo and which was completed during the presidency of Salvador Allende in the early 1970s built the foundation for a future international economic boycott, which further ... • 5. Money Is Not The Answer Evan Zhang Trachtman Honors English 9 2 March 2016 Money Is Not the Answer Today, the world constantly revolves around money. The endless cycle of working for money, saving money, and spending money has become an almost mandatory aspect of life. One can hardly turn a corner these days without seeing an advertisement endorsing the purchase of a particular item. These are signs that greed has become more and more present in contemporary society. It is commonly observed that the more money someone possesses, the more they want to obtain. They tend to become greedier and greedier, until they reach an ultimate point where there is complete disregard for others in their pursuit a solution to their problems through wealth. Dickens saw this trend very clearly, and manipulated different characters in Great Expectations, such as Joe and Miss Havisham, to show the theme that money is not what defines a person, but rather, true inner wealth is calculated by a person s actions and relationship to others. Dickens uses the character of Joe to express the theme of true worth. It is seen repeatedly that Joe has a hugely caring attitude towards others, no matter who they are or what they do. Joe embodies the idea of true inner value in his actions and relationships to others. This occurs before Pip has received his expectations, where Joe sympathises with Pip when others abuse him. For instance, when Mrs. Joe s dinner guests start to criticise Pip, Joe always aided and comforted me [Pip] ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Carl Jung s Theory Of The Mind Challenged The Existing Dogma Carl Gustav Jung II was a psychiatrist whose theories of the mind challenged the existing dogma. His works with human cognition, the basic structure of the psyche, and association experiments are widely known today in the form of the concepts of the introvert and the extrovert, psychological archetypes, and basic tests of word association. Although many basic principles of psychology today are based upon his original discoveries and theories, they were not conceived without external insight. Social, economic, and cultural influences upon Carl Jung greatly affected his lifetime achievements and provided inspiration for many of his theories. Born Carl Gustav Jung II on July 26, 1875, to Emilie Preiswerk and the pastor Paul Jung in Kesswil, Switzerland, he was not without a notable ancestral background. Jung s paternal grandfather, Dr. Med. Karl Gustav Jung I, an expatriate from Germany who engaged in liberal political agitation, drew fame to himself upon moving to Switzerland when he reformed the University of Basel, established moderate wealth, and participated in local government. (Bair 7 8). Carl Jung s maternity was no less distinguished in its own right; both of Emilie Preiswerk s parents were favorably regarded in their own community, though both were intensely superstitious, ascribing mystical causes to their frequent visions, which were peculiar to the Preiswerk family. The hereditary nature of these visions accounts for a set of Jung s experiences in his youth (Bair ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grocery stores such as Wal Mart are stationed in the lower income portion of the city because the store has a large selection of lower priced goods. In most cases, the only place to shop for food in the lower income portion of the city, are either convenient stores or liquor stores. There are more fast food joints, than restaurants and local pop up stands barely sell anything fresh. Not only is the city divided based on income, but its also due to race. There are actions that are being taken today, to help increase the number of supermarkets that are available in low inner city areas. Therefore, it is a borrowed term with its genesis in the early 15th century, from a Latinized form of Greek krisis turning point in a disease (Online Etymology Dictionary, n.d.). If a crisis cannot be defined in time (World Health Organization, n.d.) , then it is an event or a point in time of 0 days duration. A milestone is defined as a significant event of no duration (Project Management Institute, 2012). Therefore, a crisis and a milestone share similar properties with respect to their time dimension. The key difference between an emergency and a disaster lies in the resourcefulness of the organization or state and the need for external intervention. I never heard of supersets before, I thought maybe it meant lifting your max weight. According to Men s Fitness, A superset is when one set of an exercise is performed directly after a set of a different exercise without rest between them. Once each superset is complete, then rest for one and a half to two minutes to recover (Men s Fitness, 2016). For example, performing a set of dips then immediately performing a set of crunches, followed by a rest is considered a superset. Now we can get more detailed and match our sets according to a specific gain or goal. There is the antagonist superset, where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have seen many perimaid systems and methods and they are the best way to organize any complex schedule or planning. In the pyramid system, you add weight to each set starting with the lightest weight for your first set, a middle weight for your second set, and your heaviest weight for you third and final set. You lower the repititions so you can complete the set. As you gets stronger, you can raise the overall weight limits. For example. Set 1: 15 repetitions 1 pound dumbbells Set 2: 12 repetitions 2 pound dumbbells Set 3: 10 repetitions 3 pound dumbbells. Very soon, you would be using 2, 3 and 5 pound dumbbells, then 3, 5 and 8 pound dumbbells. It is simple and keeps you from getting bored with the same old routine. I like this method the best because I rather be a little strong in all areas, then only strong in one area and become weak everywhere else. You never get bored and at the same time, you will be constantly challenging your muscles. It is the safest way to train if your not regularly strethching before training. There is even more to the pyramid system, it is easyer to track your sets, you wont get boderd of the weights when it feels too easy. • 36. Sickle Cell Disease And Cancer Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemias Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and Thalassemias are similar blood disorders with some important differences. Sickle Cell Disease is a disorder where the red blood cells are sickle shaped, which causes them to stick to vessel walls preventing much needed oxygen from traveling through the body. Thalassemias has normal looking red blood cells, but the body does not make enough healthy cells or hemoglobin. This means there is a lack of oxygen because the body does not produce enough blood or hemoglobin to carry it throughout the body. The two diseases have basic similarities reflected by the concepts regarding diagnosing and treatment plans. They also differ in many ways; for example, Sickle Cell consist of more complications than the Thalassemias disorder. Thalassemia, however, affects more ethnic backgrounds and numbers of the afflicted are spread over a greater geographical area. Sickle Cell and Thalassemia can be diagnosed by a blood test that checks for certain genetic markers. Generally a person will have two hemoglobin genes. If testing determined you are missing one, or both, then you are either a carrier or you have Thalassemia. Sickle Cell testing does not look for missing genes, as in testing for Thalassemia, it is looking for an abnormal hemoglobin gene. If you have one or both of these genes, the result is the same as Thalassemia, you are either a carrier or you have the disease. Being a carrier of either of the Parks 2 genes ... • 38. Manet s Bar At The Folies Bergere Manet s Bar at the Folies Bergère, one of the most perplexing and mysterious paintings to exist, holds deep meaning and reflects French social life in this era. This work of art illustrates a Parisian nightclub, the Folies Bergère, which catered to a diverse set of acts including the circus and ballet. It is here that the Barmaid works and where we see the interaction between her and the gentleman. This is where an extremely important concept of the work appears perspective. Throughout the years there have been numerous interpretations and claims concerning why Manet painted the scene as he did, whether or not the perspective is accurate, and how all of the elements including the mirror and woman come together. Another fascinating element that comes from this scene is the social aspects of French life during this time. This element comes into play in the relationship between the barmaid and the gentleman in the top hat, the woman s expression, and the occupation of the woman. Although there are many enlightening interpretations of Manet s work, there is one that is particularly strong. Manet s use of perspective and inclusion of social matters both engages the viewer and leads them to ponder what it is exactly that they are viewing. A reason this painting has sparked so much interest and analysis is the mind boggling perspective and reflection. One of the first observations the viewer makes is that the barmaid and the barmaid s reflection do not go together. Pullman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Considering Learning About The World s Complications Essay Considering learning about the world s complications is quite strenuous, it is only realistic that thirst for environmental action arise. When taking a break and getting a bottle of water, another call to action is found in the style of carbon dioxide discharge reduction via water bottles. Not partaking in the sales of plastic water bottles and instead investing in a reusable bottle can dramatically decrease the carbon emissions of plastic bottle manufacturers. A special kind of plastic called polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is melted down to manufacture water bottles, and the process of making the material itself involves producing around 3 tons of carbon dioxide for every ton of PET made. Annually, this creates more than 2.6 billion tons of CO2 emissions just from the bottled water industry ( Bottled water and energy factsheet, 2007). Along with the PET engineering emissions, the oil burned to produce water bottles releases even more C02. It takes around 3.4 megajoules of energy to make a typical one liter (33 ounce) plastic bottle, cap, and packaging. Making enough PET to bottle America s yearly quota of water requires more than 106 billion megajoules of energy. Because a barrel of oil contains around 6,000 megajoules, the Pacific Institute figures more than 17 million barrels of oil were needed to produce the nation s water bottles ( Bottled water and energy factsheet, 2007). Because a barrel of oil, when burned, releases almost 700 lbs. of C02, the environmental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Among them is a theory called sociotechnical systems (STS). This is a theory that has been around for about 50 years and is still being attempted for use today. Many managers along with one member of the STS founding team, Fred Emery, argue that STS is obsolete; other managers have implemented STS with great success. With this new style of management practice, several changes will have to take place. These changes along with several examples of both positive and negative effects will be examined throughout this essay. To introduce the STS theory and let the reader ... The extent of these efforts often result in complaints among many high level managers. Many managers wonder if all the required time will pay off. Skeptical managers will often turn aside from this style of management. Is STS Obsolete (Practical)? Sociotechnical systems have been around for a long time now. Conventional STS has been integrated into classroom instruction at the graduate level. While trying to do this, STS lost many of its unwritten detailed subject matter and has been made conceptually complicated as well as mathematically complex.3 Another problem that Fred Emery states in his article is the overselling of STS. The pressures for STS to work by itself have raised the theory at an extremely high standard waiting for pitfalls in the process. Steve Canbana in his article on participative design states, Over the years it has become apparent that traditional socio technical systems (STS) design contains a number of pitfalls that frequently have led to implementation failure or partial success. 4 A third issue lies in problems with ...
