Texas A M Kingsville Should Provide Ceiling Fans to...
Texas A M University Kingsville should provide ceiling fans to different areas of the school
Description of Problem: The proposal is that most school areas including Texas A M University
Kingsville should provide fans in every part or unit of the school which includes the classrooms
and your room areas. Fans are used mainly for creating a current of air or breeze, especially a
machine using an electric motor to rotate and in order to move air that is used for cooling the area.
The problem of the proposal leading to making a change in convincing the schoolto provide fans in
different areas can come in many different ways. There are several problems that I want to
discuss that leads to schools providing fans to different areas. It includes that without fans in the
school area it can affect your health status, it can lead to dehydration in which your body loses
more water than it takes in and it can also lead to death. The first problem of the fans not being
provided to different parts of the school area is that it can lead to affecting your health. In general,
a fanhelps to cool the surrounding when people are inside their roomsduring the day. When there is
no presence of fan, most people would sweat and in a hot area with no cold atmosphere coming in
through it could lead to suffocation due to the presence of much heat.
The second problem is that it can lead to dehydration. In this aspect where a place or a surrounding
is hot you would sweat. This will

Elizabeth Gaskell illustrates political issues of that time by using realistic characters. In the
Victorian era, Workers began to show their reaction towards to their conditions and they made

of them were refused. Because of these refusals, there are some violent events (Wikipedia). In
Chris Vanden Bossche s article, he speaks about their similarities between reflections of political
actions. According to him, while in novel, Trades unions try to resist low wages, in reality workers

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system serves
an important purpose in where we live or work. Whether we notice it or not it is providing us with
clean air to inhale. Not only does the HVACsystem provide us with fresh air, it also: maintains the
flow of air to make sure certain areas are contamination free, eliminates contaminates before it is
released to the atmosphere, protects equipment, and keeps us in a comfortable state.
Air Flow Control Flow control is an important aspect of a ventilation system. The airflow scheme
that is used allows separation between contaminated areas from non contaminated area. The way
that airflow is controlled is by using high and low pressure areas. Since air moves from a high
pressure to a low pressure it is important to keep a contaminated area at a lower pressure. When a
contaminated area is set to a negative pressure it prevents air from the contaminated area from
flowing into non contaminated area. The pressure of the contaminated area inside the building must
always be lower than the pressure outside the building. When the pressure inside the contaminated
area is lower than the pressure outside the building it helps prevent toxic air from being leaked out
and released to the atmosphere. Once the leaking of air inside the building is prevented the air can

The Magazine Ladies Repository Magazine
The magazine Ladies Repository: A Monthly Periodical Devoted to Literature, Arts, and Religion
is a magazine that was published in 1800 and was targeted towards young women. The magazine
was a way to help teach and encourage women of the time on how to properly fit in and behave
according to the rules that society had placed on them. It taught them how to be considered an ideal,
cultured womanwith high morals and spiritual standards. Although many readers today would argue
that the teachings and ideas taught by this magazine are extremely outdated and outrageously
sexist, one must realize that this was society s standard for women during the 1800 s.
The Ladies Repository magazine is a monthly issued magazine that is dedicated to teaching its
readers, mostly young Christian women, about literature, arts and religion. It is issued by the
Methodist church in Cincinnati and written mostly by ministers. Each issue of the magazine was
published from the year 1841 to 1876.
The articles in the December 1841 issue of the magazine contains a series of well written essays
about life lessons for women, moral character, religion, ancient fortifications, deity and nature,
various exerts of poetry, various examples of literature from different countries in their native

The Importance Of Christianity In The Byzantine Church Of...
The Byzantine church of Saint George located in Madaba, Jordan, is rather modest but contains a
treasure of early Christianity: a large mosaic map etched on the floor of the church. The map dates
back to sixth century and depicts the places of spiritual importance in the Christian faith. It is no
surprise that the city of Jerusalemis portrayed as the center of the map, representing the significance
of Jerusalem to Christianity. It was in this city that the crucifixion of Jesus mobilized the creation of
the second Abrahamic religion itself. The map illustrates many of the Christian holy buildings in
Jerusalem, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a church built on the Western Hill during
the Byzantine period. Space and religion share an intimate connection. Early Judaismfocused on the
temple as the site where contact with the divine could be made. However, following the
Babylonian exile, the Israelites were forced to adapt and develop ways to worship away from the
temple. They began performing daily rituals of worship such as the Sabbath and adhering to a
special diet. They eventually came to believe that the presence of their God was not solely bound
to the confines of the Temple in Jerusalem, but rather that his presence was mobile as it had
originally been. Thus, over time the temple was less and less imperative to the religion. By the time
Christianity was founded, the temple remained an important symbol and place of worship, as well
as a symbol of the presence and strength of its religion in Jerusalem. In his essay Space, historian
and scholar Thomas Tweed argues that religious space is kinetic and interrelated, and thus has
relations to the political, social, and economic spheres and is also connected to both the past, the
present, and the future. The ideological religious, topographical, and politico economic
transformations associated with the Church of the Holy Sepulchre embody the interrelated and
kinetic nature of the space through their demonstration of the shift from Eastern Hill to Western
Hill, the shift from spiritual faith to an earth centered faith, and the change in Byzantine imperial
policy from Hadrian s Aelia Capitolina to Constantine s Christian city. The construction of the

Corinthians
Paul initially writes to the Corinthians to inform them about their misinterpretation of the cross.
The Corinthians believe that the cross is true wisdom, which is actually the opposite of God s
intentions. When Paul informs the Corinthians of their mistake, he is trying to explain the purposes
of the world s standards compared Gods wisdom. We can still see this today because the
Corinthians were only committing sin, to act higher than God or supreme selfishness. Even in
today s world, Paul s explanation of the worlds standards compared to God s wisdom is still
relevant because it shows us the true way to live our lives with God. The Corinthians were
people who were infatuated by the ideas of wisdom, God s wisdom being one of their primary
interests. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words,
lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to... Show

The world s standards for the cross is much different, in Jesus of Nazareth s time, it was a torture
device used to punish the guilty. But the world s standards also represent much more. The world
s standards don t look at Jesus as our savior, they disregard his purpose and live in their societal
standards, for example the Corinthians way of life was one of sexual impurity. When we are
taught Jesus death on the cross, the cross turns into a symbol of God s wisdom. God s wisdom
that allows us to see we are imperfect and need to follow God s instructions so we may know the
true meaning of the cross. Without Paul s letter to Corinthians, the true way of the cross may never
have been discovered and religion may have been ignored for societal standards, but instead we
are wise because the cross allows us to understand that God allowed Jesus to die for our sins so he
can save mankind because God s strength is in mankind s

Studying the consumer buying behavior is a very complex process, as it involves not only the
economic factors but also the emotional factors. However, marketers need to study the consumer
behavior, as it helps them position their products better and develop effective marketing strategies.
Consumer buying behavior is influenced by the culture and subculture. Habits, likes and dislikes of
the people belonging to a particular culture or subculture can affect the marketing efforts of a firm

First, the results indicate that consumer satisfaction acts as a mediator for both assessed value and
perceived quality in forming consumer repurchase intention. Second, the study of consumer
satisfaction and price decrease tolerance provides a new perspective in evaluating efforts to achieve
consumer satisfaction, i.e., to secure price competitiveness through improving consumer
satisfaction in a highly competitive market. Third, the fuzzy analytical tool applied in the
dissertation also gives a new perspective while examining the satisfaction profit chain. While
applying the fuzzy linear regression (FLR) model, the study further makes a methodological
contribution by proposing a new FLR model.
Charlton and Ehrenberg (1976) conducted an experiment to investigate how people change their
buying habits over time. The experiments was conducted during twenty five consecutive weeks in
which housewives were given the opportunity to buy one package of laundry detergent and/or leaf

Identification is the first of the four steps in this process. Any user that expects to gain access to a

Environmental Concerns Of The Energy Industry
Over the past 70 years, energy use and energy sources alike considerably shifted in the United
States. With these shifts, the environmental concerns associated the energy sources changed as
well. Whether it meant regulating coal use to minimize air pollution or funding alternative fuel
source research, the government has played a significant role in how the energy has been used. In
addition, worried consumers attack the industries by rallying for them to eliminate pollution. This
dual sided advance on the energy industry sometimes leads to slow advancement, such as the case

Although only 15% of electricity produced in the US at the time originated from petroleum

First Covenant Research Paper
Brothers and sisters in Christ,
As we move into a new year it is good to reflect on the year that was. Last year offered
opportunities some we seized, some we missed. It included personal challenges and growth,
questions, and frustration. But most of all it offered hope: hope we received, hope we gave, and
hope we have yet to grasp. For me personally it offered opportunity to deliver God s word to my
brothers and sisters at First Covenant on several occasions. We as a church building continue to
host a number of God s ministries from our own ministries as First Covenant, to Nueva Vida and
Come to Believe, all the way to Quilter s meetings and movie marathon nights. It is no surprise that
God moves all around us and great is the praise He deserves. And we do praise God for His will
that is good, full of grace and mercy, however I know that there is gravity as well.
As Christ has formed in me, I have become increasingly more aware of the significance of
coincidence . In fact, I have come to a point where I don t believe in the phenomenon of
coincidence at all. As a church, we face a challenge financially. However, I believe the timing of
this challenge is only the first obstacle along our path to the glory God would have us bestow
upon Him and His children. Over the past year, the church council, your spiritual leaders, have
been laboring over what it means to be a member of a church, part of the body of Christ. This work
included hours of prayer, scripture reading, and

Architects Are Influenced By Different Events, Memories,...
Architects are all influenced by different events, memories, and experiences. Some architects have
a general theme to their design. For example, many architects only create buildings in certain
materials; some use modern designs or arches and columns. Other architects are inspired by an idea
and then expand on this idea to create something unique. All architects are inspired in some way or
another, whether they were influenced by an event in their life or by a dream; many architects were
directly and indirectly influenced by the Bauhaus. The Bauhaus was founded in Germany, in 1919

Gropius realized that technology was the way of the future and he imagined a world where art and
technology could be unified as one. The creation of the school was a long process and included the
help of many other people, but because of Gropius intelligence and strong passion to educate the
younger generations, the Bauhaus was successful.
The Bauhaus taught many ideas, principles, and design techniques. The main ideas taught were
how to use simple techniques and raw materials to create a complex project. The new perceptual
structure is funded on the constituent elements of visual registration: dot, line, extent, position,
direction. All components and courses related to the Bauhaus were simplistic, yet thoughtful. For
example, the notorious symbol for the Bauhaus Press is a mark containing the combination of a
large circle with a smaller triangle and rectangle. The triangle and rectangle are used to create an
arrow within a circle. The logo itself is composed of the simplest shapes, but still conveys a larger
meaning. Most of the classes were also taught using everyday materials and ideas like cardboard,
fonts, grids, and shapes.
The Bauhaus was centered on a common language for visual communication. All students needed a
fundamental basis before moving forward in expression and creation. The curriculum was the same
for all students in order to ensure that they had the same knowledge before moving on to the next

Stanley Kubrick s Dr. Strangelove Essay
Review of Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
Stanley Kubrick is infamous for his witty films that satire governmental and societal actions
though history. In this film, Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the
Bomb (1964), Kubrick is once again directing a film that is a biting, sardonic comedy that pokes
fun at the nuclear fears of the 1950s. The screenplay for the movie was written by Stanley Kubrick
and Terry Southern, and was based on the novel Red Alert written by Peter George. In this film,
which is classified as a black comedy/fantasy, technology runs amok and takes over society and
mankind. The irony of the situation, however, became apparent when shortly after ... Show more

Another such loaded name is Jack D. Ripper, which is the name of the US Air Force s Strategic
Air Command s Commanding Officer. The name is symbolic of an infamous English serial
killer. By placing this name with a senior commander in the US Military, Kubrick is attempting
to show the bloodlust that he perceived the US Military s higher levels to have during that time
towards the USSR. Yet another suggestive name is the name of another General in the US
Military. This symbolism is slightly more subtle, because buck signifies a male animal, and turgid
is a word meaning swollen. This name shows Kubrick s suggestion that the US Military had an
inflated sense of self worth during this era. These names serve to both show the director s opinions
of individuals and systems of the time period, but also makes the connection in the viewer s mind
from the male obsession with sex to the male obsession with war.
The next vehicle Kubrick uses to convey his thoughts on the matter is distortion of history. This is
not, however, a vulgar distortion of history intended to misinform the viewer. Instead it is a
purposeful distortion of history through which Kubrick can present a hypothetical situation in order
to get a point across. In factual history, nothing of the sort ever happened as it is portrayed in the
movie. In fact, Columbia

Communication Is The Most Important Aspect Of Being A...
One of the biggest challenges facing leaders/managers is communication, yet it is the most
important aspect of being a leader/manager. Communication builds trust and trust is a powerful
force that builds loyalty, increases credibility and supports effective communications. It gives you
the benefit of the doubt in situations where you want to be heard, understood and believed. For
instance, developing a new policy or changing a current policy, communicationis vital for all
physicians and employees to know, apply, educate, and inforce. Formaland informal communication
are just a few ways to communicate information (Beslin, 2004).
Formal communication is a type of verbal presentation or document intended to share information
and which conforms to established professional rules, standards, and process. There are four types
of formal communication such as: Upward or Bottom up, Downward or Top down, Horizontal or
Lateral, and Crosswise or Diagonal. Upward or Bottom up, is the communication in which the flow
of information goes from sub ordinate to superior authority. Next is Downward or Top down, which
is the communication in which the flow of information goes from superior to sub ordinates.
Another one is Horizontal or Lateral, which is the communication between two employees of
different departments working at the same level. Last is Crosswise or Diagonal, which is the
communication between the employees of two different departments working at different levels
(Surbhi, 2016).

Freedom Of Rights
Tie up to other rights:
The freedom of speech and expression, is a right, which is directly or adjacently related to other
rights, imparting its limitations. These limitations are kept so as in the public interest. The right
to fair trial is nearly related to freedom of expression, as it also limits access to search for
information. The right to freedom of expression is actually important for the media or the printing
press, because these organizations are considered to be the Voice of People . The actual work of
the media is to awaken the people from wrongful justice.
The freedom of press is considered as the most valuable right in definitely a democratic society.
The freedom to press works upon the freedom of speech and expression, taking along the John
Milton s arguments of considering the access towards information and ideas. The media plays an
important factor in a democratic society, as it plays a special role as the barrier of the general right
in the freedom of expression.
There are also some criticisms regarding the right to freedom of press. Judith Litchenberg has
marked some circumstances in which freedom of press may restrain freedom of speech. For
example, ther s a condition where the press just crushes the information which is genuinely meant
to reach the public may get to the public which some or the other specimens in it. Judith argues
freedom of press as a simpler form summed up by the principle of No money, No voice .

Essay about Emergency Management During a Tornado
Introduction
A tornado is a naturally occurring phenomenon. The capability a tornado has for destruction can
create a major disaster event requiring a response from local, state and federal agencies. This
paper will examine the May 22, 2011 tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri. It will identify and
compare the response from local, state and federal perspective. This paper will also identify specific
emergency management functions that appear executed well and those that may not have been.
The Disaster
May 22, 2011 a supercell thunderstorm spawned the tornado that roared through Joplin at 5:45 PM

It also includes individuals, families and communities, who continue to be the nation s most
important assets as first responders during a disaster (FEMA, 2012). These principles allow for a
response the takes advantage of available resources responding to an event do so in an efficient
manner.
In preparation for a disaster, the community in Joplin embraced the Whole Community approach.
In doing so, the community responded in large numbers. While a positive, there were some
negative aspects to this level of response as well. On the positive side, the response of first
responders quickly met the needs of survivors. Medical personnel and emergency medical services
quickly established a field center for triage and treatment for those needing medical assistance after
the tornado. Because FEMA s Whole Community approach asks a community to look beyond what
is considered traditional disaster management models, the City of Joplin used social media to
communicate emergency information to the public and conduct outreach to support long term
recovery (FEMA, 2011). Because of the full commitment to the Whole Community approach,
responding to this disaster in a positive manner was possible. That is not to say there were no
negative aspects. In most cases, the Whole Community approach worked for Joplin. The exceptions
to this statement do exist. The largest negative from the response came from those coming to the
aid of those needing assistance in Joplin. The

Family as defined by Webster s College Dictionary can be one of many different people. Family
can be your parents, spouse, children, brother, sister, grandmother, uncle, any blood relative, or
even people who are not blood related that share that common bond (Webster 475). My definition of
family is similar to Webster s, but I feel that there is more to it than just being a blood relative or
close friend. A person s actions, beliefs, and morals play a major role in deciding who makes it into
that family group. Family becomes more of an idea or feeling, like love or hate, than just who a

There are four different relationships portrayed in this writing. There is the granddaughter and
grandfather, father and daughter, mother and daughter, and a new bond between the
granddaughter, Lucy, and her beau, Steve. Although there is definite conflict between the
grandfather and both his granddaughter and his daughter, you can still see the elements of
family portrayed in their actions and beliefs. The granddaughter is ready to break free from her
current main family and start a new family of her own. This causes her grandfather to resent her,
possibly due to the empty nest feeling since she is the last one to leave the house and be married.
This can be seen when he says to his daughter, She s the last. Can t we keep her a bit longer?
(Lessing 20). This shows the strong love necessary to have that true family in a household. The
mother knows that another step in her job is done and that it is time to let go. The daughter is
showing her defiance and desire to be a grown woman, to take that next step in her life. Although
she is bitter with her grandfather in the beginning of the story, she shows her true love for her
grandfather when the story portrays her crying as the grandfather finally lets go, perhaps not
wanting to be let go the releasing of his birds is a metaphor for the releasing of his granddaughter

Alfred Hitchcock s Elements Of Suspense In Psychodo

Final Paper
Alfred Hitchcock was a renowned film director known for his elements of suspense and
psychological thrillers. His most popular work psycho uses the story of a phoenix secretary
(Marion Crane) who embezzled money from a client to unveil the psycho in the male character
(Norman Bates). The success of the film is greatly relied on Hitchcock s unique techniques in
creating tension and suspense. Elements that contributed to the success of the film include motifs
and parallels, and perspective used.
The most prominent motifs in psycho are birds, eyes and mirrors. Hitchcock uses birds to support
the theme of duality in the film. In one critical scene where Norman ... Show more content on

These instances lead to eyes taking significance in the film, and implicates the audience on the
note that the film is showing what should not be seen. Unlike Norman s other victims that were
not detailed, Mrs. Bates and Marion s eyes depict a watchful one that threatens Norman therefore
leading to their deaths. Mirrors were also used throughout the film to enhance the theme of
duality. After Marion stole the money, Hitchcock recurrently compares her with her reflection
(like in the used car lot), even though she rarely looks at it. Marion s refusal to look at own
reflection in the mirror underscores that she is going to keep going in the path that she has chosen
and not look back. Marion s denial of her reflection led her to the Bates Motel where she met with
her death.
The shift in narration of Psycho has been a topic worth discussing in the world of film making.
Most films employ a system of restricted narration, which conveys external events as well as the
knowledge, thoughts and feelings of one or two major characters without the intervention of an
explicit narrator. But there is a significant shift of narration from restricted to omniscient that
Hitchcock used to keep the audience engaged with the film. The early scenes and exposition of the
film is focused on Marion. The audience see things from the perspective of Marion her theft, her
relationships as an employee and as a woman. Different point of view shots highlights that the film
is focused on Marion s

Firefighters And The Fire Service
Introduction
Firefighters are presented with a job that is dangerous and at times requires them to put their
lives at risk. Over the past 30 years, an average of 100 firefighters die annually in line of duty
deaths (LODDs). Although 100 firefighter deaths per year may seem to be an acceptable number,
it would seem that the advances in firefighter s knowledge, structural gear, equipment, and
apparatuses would cause a decrease in LODDs over the years. One way this can be accomplished is
by reviewing and restructuring standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies that will
incorporate and implement proper healthcare, mandatory fitness programs, adequate training, and
effective leadership. Since the average number of firefighter deaths has ... Show more content on

The NFPA was established in 1896 with the primary goal of eliminating death, injury, property
and economic loss due to fire related hazards. To do this, the organization developed codes and
standards along with training and educations to help firefighters perform skills and other
objectives safely. Since the formation of the NFPA, 300 codes and standards have been created to
reduce the risk and effects of fire by focusing on decisive factors for building, processing, design,
service, and installation in the United States (NFPA, 2015). Although these standards can help
reduce the number of injuries and deaths to firefighters, these codes and standards are not laws.
Instead, the fire department or authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) must adopt the code and
standard in order for it to be implemented into that fire organizations SOPs. Consequently, the fire
services should analyze these codes and standards and determine which ones if not all, could further
decrease the number of LODDs.
Another important organization that provides the fire service with helpful information is NIOSH.
When an injury or death occurs to a firefighter, NIOSH conducts an independent investigation
regarding the incident. Even though the injury or death has already occurred, this federal agency
will find effective methods and standards that can be instituted to prevent similar occurrences from
happening repeatedly. These NIOSH reports then become a part of a database where other fire

His strict outlook on the girls is a big indicator of this age and how he grew up. Queenies bathing
suit screams rebellion as all eyes were on the girls. The girls instantaneously grasping the attention
of all the male characters shows how substantial the bathing suits are as a symbol.
Another major symbol in Updike s story is sheep. In this short story, Sammy refers to the people
shopping in the store as sheep. This symbolizes that people are followers of the majority and do
not use their own brain or logic. They conform to the crowd mentality. The sheep pushing their
carts down the aisle the girls were walking against the usual traffic (not that we have any one
way signs or anything) were pretty hilarious (Updike 18). This was not the only time he
described people in the story as sheep. He also refers to the two girls following Queenie around
as sheep. This was his way of expressing that the girls actions because they followed a leader and
did not express any ideas or thoughts of their own. The girls conformed to their own friend
group. The story displayed that the girls going in the opposite direction showed their rebellious
side. Sammy viewed sheep as followers who stick together and act, talk, think, and dress the alike.
This is major when looking back to one of the stories theme of conformity. In the 1950s and early
1960s, conformity was a large social standard. Everyone felt as though they had to stay together and

My Father Of The Colonoscopy
In the year 2012, my father in law was having some pain in his side and abdomen, but because
the pain would come and go, he ignored it and blamed it on his career as a mechanic which
required strenuous manual labor. As time went on, the pain continued to worsen, but he put off

day of the colonoscopy because the pain in his stomach had worsened when he had to flush out
his system before the test could be completed. The doctors assured him that this was normal for
most everybody who had to go through this process, and they seemed very optimistic about the
way the results would turn out. Once the procedure was complete, the doctors informed us that
everything had gone well, but they did find multiple masses in his colon that they had taken

STATISTICS AND DECISION MAKING IN HRM
(word count 1155)
The word statistics has a Latin origin where the word status means state. Statistics is defined as the
science that helps us understand how to collect, organize and interpret numbers or other
information (data) about some topic (Bennett, et al., 2003). It is a discipline of data collection and
summarizing to aid understanding and decision making. It is also concerned with evaluation of the
present status and predicting the future (Stockberger, 1996). Statistics studies the nature of a
relationship between two or more variables of interest by using the numerical statistical data.

From the company management perspective statistics help managers to convert data into
information which enables to accept informed decisions (Levin and Rubin, 1997). Thus statistics
helps to manage the organizational functions in a company. Such management science procedures
as project evaluation and review techniques and critical path method help to control and plan not
only company projects and initiatives but take adequate people related decisions belonging to the
functional area of Human Resource Management. HRM function involves activities such as
recruitment, training, performance assessment, reward and motivation. Productivity of these
activities to a great extent is predetermined by the wide use of statistical tools. By using statistics,
HR forecasts the needs in terms of required number of employees and their level of qualification.
For the recruitment of new staff the tests are conducted to assess the candidates on merit basis.
Validity of various HR tests can be assessed by means of statistical tools. Statistical analysis of test
results helps to reveal deficiencies in employee training programs and to assess the compensation
program to determine whether they are reliable and support the organisation s performance
objectives. Regular employee performance appraisals based on statistical methods are important for
making HR decisions regarding compensation and promotion.

Gladwell reviews the lives of extremely successful people and how they have had success. There
are many ways in which logos are used in Outliers. Gladwell viewed children in Berlin playing the

Bill Gates had thousands of hours of practice in programming and other abilities learned through

king goes to a fortune teller because they are having trouble conceiving a child. He is told, they
will have a child, but his son will kill him and marry and have children with the queen. They
send the child to someone far away, so the prophesy cannot be filled. The young boy ends up
becoming a king somewhere else then goes out and meets his father and they fight and he kills
his father. He had no idea who the man was. He ventures out and kills a sphynx and then becomes
king because of that. He never thought the place he now ended up at was supposed to be his true
home. He marries the current queen and the prophesy is filled. The story shows there are some
things you cannot escape but you make your own legacy at the same

The Montgomery Bus Boycott Of 1955-56
The Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955 56 was triggered when Rosa Parks refused to give up her
bus seat to a white man in the city of Montgomery, Alabama, on December 1st, 1955. The event
saw that around 95% of Montgomery s black citizens refused to ride the bus, lasting 381 days.
This was an extremely important event as this is identified as the beginning of the American
Black Civil Rights movement. I will be discussing the causes of this event the Jim Crow laws,
Rosas refusal to move, and the support of the NAACP as well as the consequences; the suffering
of Rosa and Raymond and their supporters, Negro economic power and Martin Luther King Jr.
emerging as a civil rights leader. A key cause of the Montgomery Bus Boycott (MBB) was the...

Another key cause of the Montgomery Bus Boycott was Rosa Park s refusal to move from her
bus seat, after being told to move for a white person. On December 1st, 1985, after coming home
from work, Rosa sat in the black section of the bus, and was ushered to leave her seat when a
white man boarded. This was a result of there being no white seats available at the time. Rosa
had already skipped the first bus that had passed her, as she saw it was full, and she had no
energy in her to stand. When she was told to move, Rosa argued that she was too tired after her
full day of work, and refused to get up. Later, Rosa stated that her real reasoning for not moving
was because she was tired of the lack of equality in Montgomery. The police were called after
Rosa repeatedly told the bus driver she would not move, and Rosa was arrested that night, and
thrown into jail. She was fined $10, as well as $4 for court fees. Ed Nixon, who was the head of the
Montgomery NAACP, bailed her out, and they then drew attention to her case. Her arrest sparked
an uproar in the black community of Montgomery, and this was incentive for the decision that they
needed a solution to end this discrimination, and got involved with the boycott they had planned.

Essay about Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill
Illusion vs. Reality in Miss Brill
Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield is set the Jardins Publiques in France. Every Sunday Miss Brill
looks forward to getting dressed up and visiting the park, where she enjoys people watching. Her
weekly visits to the park are undoubtedly the highlight of her week, bringing her great joy and
satisfaction. There are many illusions in this story, in this essay I intend to show three different
illusions Miss Brill uses to make herself happy and how her reality is shattered at the end of the
story by a chance remark.
Miss Brill s first illusion is her fur, which she thinks of as being alive. Mansfield writes, Dear little
thing! ...and rubbed the life back into the dim little eyes. `What has been ... Show more content on

Miss Brill soon observes a lady and a gentleman having a brief encounter in the park, and she
imagines what is being said on between the couple. Through this encounter one sees that Miss
Brill is living vicariously through the people in the park to fulfill her loneliness. Miss Brill s
voyeurism leaves her feeling as though she has interactions with these people; this, in turn, leaves
her happy and fulfilled. The truth is she is a very lonely person looking to fill her time in the park
with imagined relationships.
Miss Brill s third illusion is that she thinks of herself as an actress (123) in a play. This illusion
gives Miss Brill great pleasure and exhilaration, as she thinks, They were all on stage... they were
acting (123) and that she is An Actress (123), which is an important part of her illusion.
Mansfield writes, Who could believe the sky at the back wasn t painted? (123). This statement
leads readers to believe that Miss Brill thinks of the sky and the park as the set of the play. She
believes that the all of the park patrons weren t only the audience (123) but also the actors in a
great play. Miss Brill even sees a dog that happens to be walking across the park as a `theater dog.
She also believes that somebody would have noticed if she hadn t been there (123) for her Sunday
performance, and that she would be greatly missed. In actuality she is not an actress in a play but
one of the many people enjoying the park.

Ox Looks At Man
It is extremely crucial to have the ability to feel satisfied with very little in life. The poem An Ox
Looks at Man, by Carlos Drummond de Andrade, is about an ox judging humans for forgetting a
crucial element in life. The poem s language suggests that while the ox is able to remain content
with life, humans can never feel satisfied as shown by the ox s description of humans physical
characteristics and emotional behaviors. The Ox s assessment of humankind s physical
characteristics describes not only humankind s state of mind, but the Ox s as well. The Ox
criticizes people by claiming that they have a translucent inner emptiness. The Ox claims that
humans have a large void in our souls. Humankind s inner emptiness is based on the fact... Show

It is supposed to be simple and crucial. Yet, humans are unable to realize this truth, thus causing the
Ox to question if it truly is vital. Not only that, but humans are also causing the truth to scatter and
burn. This truth is supposed to keep nature and life in tranquil state. However, since humankind
cannot see the truth, they do not realize that they are ruining it. The Ox looks at humans because it
is worried that they will deteriorate this truth that has been so vital to its life.
The Ox s assessment of humankind s physical characteristics and emotional behaviors shows
humankind s inability to reach a state of satisfaction as well as the Ox s ability to reach a state
of serenity. The Ox has found to way to view life as fulfilling, but it judges humans because it is
worried that they will never discover this element in their lives. Most people believe that having
more money will make them happier. However, the reality of it all is that, in the words of
Akhenaton, To be satisfied with a little is the greatest wisdom because a contented mind is a hidden

Protein Absorbability Lab Report
The absorbance spectrum of the protein samples were measured between the range of 400 to
700nm and the heme absorption was found to be at 409nm. Following Figure 1, as we increase the
[GuHCl], the absorbance band at 409nm decreases in intensity. This illustrates that proteinis
unfolding. Ergo, a two state model is establish between the folded and unfolded state of myoglobin.
And by applying Equation (1), it allows us to estimate the structural stability of the protein under
these conditions through the equilibrium that has been established.

Further, since the conformational state of myoglobin can be describe in a two state thermodynamic
model that leads to an equilibrium, it is possible to describe the transition in terms of пЃ„G as a
function of the denaturing agent concentration, as shown in the second plot of Figure 2. In addition,
the formulation of a linear perturbation plot permits us to calculate for the пЃ„Gounfolding of
myoglobin in the absence of GuHCl, which was found to be +33.6 kJ/mol as seen in Table 1.
On the other hand, the second section of the experiment involves the usage of different
concentration of the magic buffer solution, which acts as the denaturing agent for the protein. As
illustrated in Figure 3, the absorbance intensity at 409nm was plotted as a function of pH of the
protein solution. Furthermore, this plot demonstrates that myoglobin is unfolded at lower pH.
Consider at lower pH values, it seems that higher buffer concentration the protein is more unfolded
because the absorbance intensity is lower than at 0.010 M buffer concentration, as shown in Figure
3. This illustrates that the magic buffer mixture is an effective denaturing agent as the
concentration of the solution

Climate Change, Human Security and Violent Conflict Essay
Climate change is becoming a focal point for security and conflict research. Research suggests that
violent conflict is affected by climate change and this could become increasingly worse in the
future. Barnett, J., Adger, W. (2007) suggest that climate change undermines human security by
reducing the access to natural resources that sustain people s way of life. Climate changealso has the
capacity to undermine states as well by cutting off the states ability to provide opportunities and
services that help maintain life and which help to maintain and build peace in daily life. With
access to natural resources diminishing and the state not being able to provide opportunities and
services that help maintain life and human securitythis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Third, it explains that climate change may weaken states ability to provide resources and services to
the people. And finally, it outlines further research that could be conducted on climate change
human security (or the lack of) and violent conflict. It is evident that the climate of the world is
changing and has been since the creation of the earth but over that past decade the change had
begun to occur more rapidly. With this occurrence of climate change is the occurrence of violent
conflict among humans. In most parts of the world the climate change impacts social ecological
systems such as temperature, sea level, and annual precipitation. Other occurrence have just
increased in intensity and frequency such as floods, droughts, storms, cyclones, fires, heat waves,
epidemics and hurricanes. Yet these environmental changes do not undermine human security but
they do assist in the use up of the natural resources that humans need to maintain the normal daily
life and most importantly survive. Violence happens for a number of reasons some to include
leaders are able to mobilize groups to do certain things that cause violence, the loot ability of
natural resources and other products and because some individuals choose to be violent. It is very
important to note that climate change will not make violence nor increase the risk of violence in
isolation, it also requires other important social factors. The state

Importance Of Land Surveying And How It Has Changed Over Time
GIS 314 Final Project
Nick Winecoff
Land Surveying
Introduction
This project discusses the importance of land surveying and how it has changed over time. It takes
a look at the Metes and Bounds system, the Congressional/Jeffersonian system, and offshore
system. Each of these systems has changed over time and is still important to the development of
land surveying. This project also discusses how data is used to create land surveying maps and
where to find data. This project analyzes the data that is used with land surveying and has two
maps to show how the data can be used to create maps. Review of Topic Land surveying has been
around a long time and has had a lot of history over the years. The first system of land surveying
to be used in the United States was the Metes and Bounds system. This system was used in
Europe, so when the colonists traveled to the new land they used the Metes and Bounds system
like they had in Europe for land surveying in the thirteen colonies. Other states that use the Metes
and Bounds system are Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maine, Vermont, and West Virginia. The
Metes and Bounds system is relatively simple because it is composed of landmarks such as
rivers, rocks, or trees that are used to determine land plots or space. A landmark is used to
represent the beginning of the land area and a second landmark is used to determine where the
plot of land ends. These landmarks can also create angles for these border lines based on their

Market Research Crucial
Why Is Market Research Crucial to Business Today? Most of the businessmen consider market
research the key to a successful business empire. It is quite essential to conduct a thorough research
to analyze the prospects of an existing or new product. A well conducted research proves fruitful in
evaluating the business situations, the potential salesof a product, prospective customers and so
forth.
In simple words, market research is the process of collecting, recording and evaluating data which
relates to various products and services.
Goal of Market Research
There are many reasons why a business enterprise should conduct researches before launching a
new product. Some of the most important goals of such researches involve the following.

Another form of research is the consumer based research.
Primary research involves collection of data directly from the consumers. It is quite an expensive
method of research though quite effective. Customer feedbacks are collected through telephonic
interviews, surveys and group discussions. The primary research is further categorized into
quantitative and qualitative research.
Quantitative research: In quantitative researches, surveys are conducted to collect numerical data.
Most of the surveys include close ended questions which are less time consuming. It is quite easy
to collect such data as consumers tend to be more co operative. The collected data is further
analyzed for a proper conclusion.
Qualitative research: In quantitative researches, group discussions or interviews are conducted to
gather information. This research involves open ended questions where consumers are required to
answer in depth questions. Experienced professionals are required to conduct interviews. It is both
an expensive and time consuming method of

Philonous And Hylas Play Summary
The dialogue begins with Philonous and Hylas, the protagonists, running into each other. Philonous
is surprised to see Hylas awake so early, but Hylas seems mad. Hylas explains that he has been
contemplating over crazy beliefs that some philosophers have; those who believe nothing at all, and
those who believe everything. Hylas is scared that the philosophers will put thoughts in people s
heads, eventually turning them against their own religion and beliefs. Philonous agrees with Hylas
and explains how doesn t follow what he learned in school, rather he embraces common sense
opinions. Hylas is relieved to find out Philonous doesn t believe in these insane thoughts (mind
independent reality) that some of their friends do. Philonous explains that... Show more content on

Philonous now begins to explain how materialism can lead to skepticism. Philonous must now
explain that there is no reason to believe in mind independent reality. Philonous introduces the
argument from pleasure and pain as well as the argument of perceptual relativity. First, he makes
Hylas admit that we can only sense sensible things, and that sensible things are nothing but groups
of sensible qualities. Hylas hesitates, but Philonous reassures him. Philonous gives a cherry as an
example; a small, red, sweet cluster, which in actuality could be something other than this.
Philonous now introduces the idea of pain and pleasure. Philonous explains that pain is mind
dependant, meaning that pain cannot exist if nobody is feeling it. The same goes with pleasure.
Philonous then explains that this does not only apply to pain and pleasure, but to any sensible
quality. First, Philonous tries to relate heat with pain. He says that inanimate objects cannot feel
pain or pleasure; Matter is inanimate; Matter cannot feel pain nor pleasure; heat is a form of pain;
therefore matter is incapable of feeling heat; This means heat is mind

Differences Between Middle And Upper Class
The Many Differences between Lower, Middle and Upper Class There are various ways of
referring to class. Often, when people talk about lower/middle and upper class, they talk in terms
of blue/white collar jobs. Ideally we would all think we fall into the middle class; however, most of
society is in the lower/middle classeven though they are working their dream job with a degree.
Additionally, the American dream has changed drastically throughout the years. The unfair, the
system that effects the rich poor balance has been getting big traction. Middle class is paying
higher taxes than upper class; the tax systems are upside, and down poor people are paying
more and the rich people are paying less. I believe that wealthy people are paying too little taxes.
When you are in the middle class you are stuck paying more than someone that is the upper
class. According to David Leonhardt in Inequality has been going on forever... he mentioned,
Instead their middle class and poor have enjoyed more aggressively rising incomes, all while
their economies grow as rapidly as this country s in recent years. (Leonardt 543) For instance,
working in the middle class we don t get enough money to pay off every single thing, so we have
to try to balance all the bills and necessities out. I see many people are struggling they cannot pay
all of their bills.
Lower/Middle class cannot afford to pay more taxes because they do not make enough with the
taxes they are already taking off their

Texas A M University Kingsville should provide ceiling fans to different areas of the school Description of Problem: The proposal is that most school areas including Texas A M University Kingsville should provide fans in every part or unit of the school which includes the classrooms and your room areas. Fans are used mainly for creating a current of air or breeze, especially a machine using an electric motor to rotate and in order to move air that is used for cooling the area. The problem of the proposal leading to making a change in convincing the schoolto provide fans in different areas can come in many different ways. There are several problems that I want to discuss that leads to schools providing fans to different areas. It includes that without fans in the school area it can affect your health status, it can lead to dehydration in which your body loses more water than it takes in and it can also lead to death. The first problem of the fans not being provided to different parts of the school area is that it can lead to affecting your health. In general, a fanhelps to cool the surrounding when people are inside their roomsduring the day. When there is no presence of fan, most people would sweat and in a hot area with no cold atmosphere coming in through it could lead to suffocation due to the presence of much heat. The second problem is that it can lead to dehydration. In this aspect where a place or a surrounding is hot you would sweat. This will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Heating Ventilation And Air Conditioning Systems Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems NT 131 Nuclear Facility Components Tyler Sandoval October 8, 2016 Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system serves an important purpose in where we live or work. Whether we notice it or not it is providing us with clean air to inhale. Not only does the HVACsystem provide us with fresh air, it also: maintains the flow of air to make sure certain areas are contamination free, eliminates contaminates before it is released to the atmosphere, protects equipment, and keeps us in a comfortable state. Air Flow Control Flow control is an important aspect of a ventilation system. The airflow scheme that is used allows separation between contaminated areas from non contaminated area. The way that airflow is controlled is by using high and low pressure areas. Since air moves from a high pressure to a low pressure it is important to keep a contaminated area at a lower pressure. When a contaminated area is set to a negative pressure it prevents air from the contaminated area from flowing into non contaminated area. The pressure of the contaminated area inside the building must always be lower than the pressure outside the building. When the pressure inside the contaminated area is lower than the pressure outside the building it helps prevent toxic air from being leaked out and released to the atmosphere. Once the leaking of air inside the building is prevented the air can go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Importance Of Christianity In The Byzantine Church Of... The Byzantine church of Saint George located in Madaba, Jordan, is rather modest but contains a treasure of early Christianity: a large mosaic map etched on the floor of the church. The map dates back to sixth century and depicts the places of spiritual importance in the Christian faith. It is no surprise that the city of Jerusalemis portrayed as the center of the map, representing the significance of Jerusalem to Christianity. It was in this city that the crucifixion of Jesus mobilized the creation of the second Abrahamic religion itself. The map illustrates many of the Christian holy buildings in Jerusalem, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a church built on the Western Hill during the Byzantine period. Space and religion share an intimate connection. Early Judaismfocused on the temple as the site where contact with the divine could be made. However, following the Babylonian exile, the Israelites were forced to adapt and develop ways to worship away from the temple. They began performing daily rituals of worship such as the Sabbath and adhering to a special diet. They eventually came to believe that the presence of their God was not solely bound to the confines of the Temple in Jerusalem, but rather that his presence was mobile as it had originally been. Thus, over time the temple was less and less imperative to the religion. By the time Christianity was founded, the temple remained an important symbol and place of worship, as well as a symbol of the presence and strength of its religion in Jerusalem. In his essay Space, historian and scholar Thomas Tweed argues that religious space is kinetic and interrelated, and thus has relations to the political, social, and economic spheres and is also connected to both the past, the present, and the future. The ideological religious, topographical, and politico economic transformations associated with the Church of the Holy Sepulchre embody the interrelated and kinetic nature of the space through their demonstration of the shift from Eastern Hill to Western Hill, the shift from spiritual faith to an earth centered faith, and the change in Byzantine imperial policy from Hadrian s Aelia Capitolina to Constantine s Christian city. The construction of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Corinthians Paul initially writes to the Corinthians to inform them about their misinterpretation of the cross. The Corinthians believe that the cross is true wisdom, which is actually the opposite of God s intentions. When Paul informs the Corinthians of their mistake, he is trying to explain the purposes of the world s standards compared Gods wisdom. We can still see this today because the Corinthians were only committing sin, to act higher than God or supreme selfishness. Even in today s world, Paul s explanation of the worlds standards compared to God s wisdom is still relevant because it shows us the true way to live our lives with God. The Corinthians were people who were infatuated by the ideas of wisdom, God s wisdom being one of their primary interests. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The world s standards for the cross is much different, in Jesus of Nazareth s time, it was a torture device used to punish the guilty. But the world s standards also represent much more. The world s standards don t look at Jesus as our savior, they disregard his purpose and live in their societal standards, for example the Corinthians way of life was one of sexual impurity. When we are taught Jesus death on the cross, the cross turns into a symbol of God s wisdom. God s wisdom that allows us to see we are imperfect and need to follow God s instructions so we may know the true meaning of the cross. Without Paul s letter to Corinthians, the true way of the cross may never have been discovered and religion may have been ignored for societal standards, but instead we are wise because the cross allows us to understand that God allowed Jesus to die for our sins so he can save mankind because God s strength is in mankind s ... They examined the effects of price differentials, sales promotion, advertising, and out of stock condition, the introduction of new brand, and certain weak forms of brand differentiation. Although only 15% of electricity produced in the US at the time originated from petroleum products, this was still the use of more than 1 million barrels per day. Eliminating this use of petroleum would allow the United States more independence from the world oil market. Clearly, this contradicted the clean air measures put into place in 1967. Last year offered opportunities some we seized, some we missed. It included personal challenges and growth, questions, and frustration. But most of all it offered hope: hope we received, hope we gave, and hope we have yet to grasp. For me personally it offered opportunity to deliver God s word to my brothers and sisters at First Covenant on several occasions. We as a church building continue to host a number of God s ministries from our own ministries as First Covenant, to Nueva Vida and Come to Believe, all the way to Quilter s meetings and movie marathon nights. It is no surprise that God moves all around us and great is the praise He deserves. Yet another suggestive name is the name of another General in the US Military. This symbolism is slightly more subtle, because buck signifies a male animal, and turgid is a word meaning swollen. His most popular work psycho uses the story of a phoenix secretary (Marion Crane) who embezzled money from a client to unveil the psycho in the male character (Norman Bates). The success of the film is greatly relied on Hitchcock s unique techniques in creating tension and suspense. Mirrors were also used throughout the film to enhance the theme of duality. After Marion stole the money, Hitchcock recurrently compares her with her reflection (like in the used car lot), even though she rarely looks at it. Marion s refusal to look at own reflection in the mirror underscores that she is going to keep going in the path that she has chosen and not look back. Marion s denial of her reflection led her to the Bates Motel where she met with her death. The shift in narration of Psycho has been a topic worth discussing in the world of film making. Since the formation of the NFPA, 300 codes and standards have been created to reduce the risk and effects of fire by focusing on decisive factors for building, processing, design, service, and installation in the United States (NFPA, 2015). Although these standards can help reduce the number of injuries and deaths to firefighters, these codes and standards are not laws. • 33. The Evolution Of Social Classes In The Time Machine By H.... In H.G. Wells novel The Time Machine, the protagonist is an English scientist, referred to as the Time Traveller throughout the novel. He designs a small time machine and time travels to the year 802,701, where he loses his time machine. He discovers two life forms: the Morlock and Eloi. He quickly forms his beliefs and theories on their people and the evolution of them. These theories reflect those from Charles Darwin s Origins of the Species, where Darwin discussed natural selection and evolution. The repressed working class had evolved into the brutal, nocturnal Morlocks, while the leisured classes evolved into the beautiful, yet purposeless Eloi. The Time Traveller grows to realize that civilization s advancements weakened the Eloi, making... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Morlock s experience being underground has strengthened and taught them how to keep themselves alive. For example, when they ran out of food, they discovered that they could hunt the Eloi. The Time traveler finds that the Morlocks actually tend to Eloi as if they were farm animals, with the obvious intention to use them as food. The Morlock adapt to environment very well. Statistics is defined as the science that helps us understand how to collect, organize and interpret numbers or other information (data) about some topic (Bennett, et al., 2003). It is a discipline of data collection and summarizing to aid understanding and decision making. It is also concerned with evaluation of the present status and predicting the future (Stockberger, 1996). On December 1st, 1985, after coming home from work, Rosa sat in the black section of the bus, and was ushered to leave her seat when a white man boarded. This was a result of there being no white seats available at the time. Rosa had already skipped the first bus that had passed her, as she saw it was full, and she had no energy in her to stand. When she was told to move, Rosa argued that she was too tired after her full day of work, and refused to get up. Later, Rosa stated that her real reasoning for not moving was because she was tired of the lack of equality in Montgomery. The police were called after Rosa repeatedly told the bus driver she would not move, and Rosa was arrested that night, and thrown into jail. She was fined $10, as well as $4 for court fees. Ed Nixon, who was the head of the Montgomery NAACP, bailed her out, and they then drew attention to her case. The first system of land surveying to be used in the United States was the Metes and Bounds system. This system was used in Europe, so when the colonists traveled to the new land they used the Metes and Bounds system like they had in Europe for land surveying in the thirteen colonies. Other states that use the Metes and Bounds system are Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maine, Vermont, and West Virginia. The Metes and Bounds system is relatively simple because it is composed of landmarks such as rivers, rocks, or trees that are used to determine land plots or space.
