Netflix Case Study
The Big Red Monster vs. The Theatres The arrival of Netflix and other streaming services have
had an enormous impact on the Television and Movie industries. With these changes that have
happened comes drastic opinions on economic utility. Economic utility is the amount of
satisfactory a customer is granted from a product or service. On one hand you have the
customer that would rather stay home and watch a movie on Netflix. On the other hand you
have a customer that would go to the theatre to watch the newest movies. These are the movies
that people on netflix can t experience yet. In this project I am going to discuss the impact that
Netflix has had on the movie and television industries. There are four different variables of
economic utility that have evolved with the arrival of Netflix. These include product form, time,
place, and product possession. First off, I m going to talk about the impact the movie industry
had on economy before the arrival of Netflix. Before Netflix, movie theatres had different
competitors. Some of these include sporting events, restaurants, and clubs. People would have to
decide what they wanted to do during their free time. One of the economic utilities that was very
different before Netflix was place. Unless people were using the internet to watch videos they
would have to go to the theatres or rent a movie to take home. They were not able to just pull up
the Netflix app and start watching a movie. Before there were few options for actually

Shakespeare s A Doll s House Essay
The Performance of Gender in Ibsen s A Doll s House It can be said that the sound of Nora
Helmer slamming the door behind her as she leaves her husband and children in pursuit of self
actualization is one of the most famous in theatre history. The journey the characters in A Doll s
House take in order to build to this powerful moment is a fascinating one. Countless scholars
have analyzed aspects of Ibsen s famous play; some have examined the complicated marriage
between Nora and Torvald Helmer, while others have found Ibsen s social commentary piquing
their interest. In this particular case, it is this paper s endeavor to thoroughly examine the ways
in which gender is performed in this classic play. Primarily, Judith Butler s famous book, Gender
Trouble:Feminism and the Subversion of Identity, will serve as the critical lens for this analysis.
Two productions of Ibsen s work will provide the performances for analysis: director Patrick
Garland s 1973 film starring Claire Bloom and Anthony Hopkins, and Mabou Mines postmodern
adaptation. Butler s gender performance theory will help to illuminate the social commentary and
underlying themes present in Ibsen s masterpiece and will hopefully reveal aspects of Nora and
Torvald s character that were perhaps hidden until now.
Summary and Historical Context of A Doll s House In A Doll s House, Henrik Ibsentells the story
of a seemingly happy married couple, Nora and Torvald Helmer. Torvald is about to begin his new

will allow its organization to focus on its strategic objectives and develop a comprehensive plan,
considering base pay, short and long term incentives, benefits and growth opportunities. This kind
of planning helps ensure that the compensation system will support the organization s long and

Plastec needs to assess its current compensation system and identify its business objectives. By

Tikal: The Great Ancient City
One may know the Stonehenge of England, The Great Pyramid of Khufu in Egypt, and the Roman
Coliseum in Rome, Italy. What one ought to have known is The Great Ancient city of Tikal.
Tikal located in present day Guatemala is just one of the sites of the Mayan Civilization. The
Mayan Civilization ranges from Mexico to the south in Central America. Embedded in their
society were beliefs that evolved around sacrifices to their Gods who were usually past kings.
Although archaeologist have worked hard trying to discover more information about the Mayan
world, they have just scraped the surface of their history. One of the greatest mysteries of the
Maya today is the rapid decline of the society depicted by the last stela, an upright stone slab or
column, located around 869 A.D. at Tikal and 909 A.D. in the Mayan World about 1000 years
before Columbus reached the island of El Salvador in 1492. While there is ... Show more content on

The Long Count calendar was calibrated by means to record major events such as those described
from glyphs on stelae. Starting around the 1960 s archaeologists and researchers turn their focus to
the hieroglyphs left behind by the Maya. Due to the increase of study of the hieroglyphs,
researchers hit a turning point in what they mistakenly knew about the Maya. Like J. Eric
Thompson, Carnegie Institution of Washington archaeologist, many early explorers would have
thought that the Mayan society was very peaceful. This declaration was mistaken since at the time
there was little to no understanding of the Mayan hieroglyphs. Today, with the understanding of
most Mayan writing, archaeologists have concluded that the Maya were warrior like people with a
very active community who took place in battles, sacrificial ceremonies, and even

Stephen Crane Naturalism Essay
My interpretation of Crane s poem, the deeds people tell of war only tell that of the battles, the
hardship, no one hears about the angels on the battlefield or the interactions that happen outside of
battle. He sees the romantic view, and yet the naturalistic view at the same time. Though he leans
more in the direction of romanticism, he does include some naturalism in his writing. For example,
from The Red Badge of Courageby Stephen Crane, he states, He developed the acute exacerbation
of a pestered animal, a well meaning cow worried by dogs. Represents a naturalistic state of
mind, but nevertheless, he mostly relies on romanticism. Naturalism, nature doesn t care. It s
every animal for themselves. As for the Romantic side of things, from The Veteran by Stephen
Crane, he writes, When the roof fell in, a great funnel of smoke swarmed toward the sky, as if the
old man s mighty spirit, released from its body a little bottle had swelled like the genie of fable. ...

For example, from The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane, expecting to see the steamy
approach of his death... They were going to look at war, the red animal war, the blood swollen
god. Crane interprets war into more than just an act, an animal about to swallow all of the
casualties. Most romantics view everything in that way. Another Romantic statement from The
Red Badge of Courage, Writing Topic by Stephen Crane, (Lee) sat in full realization of all that
soldiers dream of triumph; and as I looked upon him in the complete fruition of his success which
is genius, courage, and confidence in his army had won, I thought it must have been from some
such a scene that men in ancient days ascended to the dignity of gods. Crane write this in such a
way to really pull out the feeling a general would have after his army pushed out of the battle

The Canadian Pacific Railway
The Railway that Benefitted All
The Canadian Pacific Railway and its benefits to farmers, financiers, and consumers.

Mr. Moore
CHC2Da
The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) is commonly argued to be the most important transportation
route in Canadian history, but most do not know the substantial benefits it provided. More
specifically, it provided benefits to farmers, financiers, and consumers. The financiers of the
railway were the group of people that the railway benefitted the most, mainly because of the
significant amount of use it received in the 19th century. During the 1800s and early 1900s the
farmers of Canada benefitted greatly from the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway because
of the ease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, the financiers of the railway had benefitted tremendously from the amount of money
being brought in by the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The construction of the
CPR also provided many benefits for consumers in Canada at the time of being built, as well as
after for many years to come. Receiving goods was made much easier through the use of the
CPR to deliver products to the eastern part of Canada. This was mostly just a convenience for
consumers rather than really benefitting them financially. As a result of easier transportation to
the eastern Canada, the price of food and goods was far less coming from the west because of
the low shipment costs issued by the CPR, which was a financial benefit for the consumers of
Canada. The standard of living in turn was increased by the lower costs of items needed for the
standard every day life of citizens living in Canada. This was mostly apparent in the lower to
middle class division in that time, where obvious gains were apparent, so the new immigrants and
poor began to lift out of poverty at a substantial rate. Another benefit that consumers had was that
they were not required to pay tariffs on the CPR; only the clients of the railway were required to
pay fares to the financiers, which was another convenience for consumers. To put it simply, Canada
s consumers weren t drastically affected by the construction of the

Racial Stereotypes And Its Negative Effects On Our Society
Humanity as a whole cannot help but judge one another. A stereotype is a fixed belief about
someone s religion, gender, or social group. Stereotypes can have positive and negative affects on
our society. Often times, people use stereotypes to belittle a group of people. An example of a
racial stereotype would include all Hispanics being illegal immigrants. Racial stereotypesalways
favor the raceof the holder and put down other races. People use racial stereotypes because it is
human nature to recognize patterns. When seeing these patterns within a specific race people
often tend to immediately associate him or herself within that society. From a positive point of
view stereotypes can give confidence and favor them above a certain group or class of people.
Stereotypes such as Asians have high IQs can make them have confidence in themselves. often
times it is hard to live up to a positive stereotype. Although we think positive stereotyping is a
good thing it really is not. Most positive stereotyping sets the bar unrealistically high and only
leaves room for failure. Another example of a positive stereotype with a negative affect is All
black people are good at sports. If a particular African American is not good at sports then they
will feel less than adequate. Positive stereotypes can be depressing to individuals who are
supposed to posses them but fall short. Referring to the article listed as Reality TV Goes Where

Ideally it should be between 1 and 2. A figure less than 1 indicates that the company did not have
enough cash, for example in 2009 with a ratio of 0.82. according to Ted Baker s web site (http:/
/www.tedbakerplc.com) They had a major business expansion, they spent ВЈ11.8 million in 2009 to
open up thirty two (32) new stores compared toВЈ1.5 million in 2008 when they opened twenty
three (23) , such expansion does not come cheap. There was unpaid royalty income by Hartmax
Corporation which was one of the licensed outlets in America which filled for bankruptcy on 23rd
January 2009 before the group income statement came out at the end of January. (Ted Baker Report
2009 2010 page 8). On the whole the ratios have been consistent in the last five years. After the
2009 down turn in the figures, management took action by controlling costs and commitments.
Uncertain economic climate also contributed to the 2009 down turn, however Ted baker managed
to overcome the difficult environment.
Hence the increase of their profit 2010 (see appendix Group Income Statement for the 52 weeks
ended 29 January 2010)
In comparison to the current ratio, which was a round 2.25 and the quick ration at 1, the difference
is very small. They have both been static. This shows that the company s current assets are not
dependant on the inventory. Management is in control of the finances.

Zero Turn Mowers
They all have four tires, an engine, and a mowing deck, but are they any different from the rest?
It seems like zero turn mowers are growing in popularity every year. Not only do they make
quick work of large mowing areas, they are a blast to operate. Professionals have been using
them for years to cut tight spaces and large lawns with ease. Zero turn radius (ZTR) means that
you can turn on a dime with ease. That is, you stay in the same place while your mower is
turning. Because of this, they don t leave a circle of uncut grass that would normally require a
second pass. Some companies claim that a zero turn mower can cut your mowing time in half. I

Super Bowl Stereotypes
Methodology Sample of Super Bowl commercials The Super Bowl commercials were content
analyzed for the year 2018. Consequently, our population consisted of everybody we endeavored
to comment on in Super Bowl 2018 commercials, which included white men and women as well
as men and women of color. Our sample comprised 37 commercials out of the 81 Super Bowl
commercials that aired in 2018. Of the 37 commercials, there were 59 central characters. Out of
those 59 central characters, 43 of the characters were male and 16 were female. Furthermore, we
did not observe any gender queer or gender binary, therefore our group resorted to not code for
those categories. It is important to note that our coding exposed that 72% of the central characters
were white males (20.9% males of color). Likewise, out of the same 39 Super Bowl 2018

As a result, everyone in the class contributed to the coding. In addition, there were two different
groups with our professor acting as the commonality between the two groups. Another essential
point was that everyone in our class had to vote if someone disagreed on the central characters.
Accordingly, everything discussed as a group led to valuable insight as to how the end results
were later determined. In the commercials, we looked specifically for the central characters and
the type of stereotype the central character fell into if any. Also, the commercials were coded as
montage if no one in the class could tell what stereotype the central character was classified in, or
if there were too many central characters to count. Our study categorizes a widespread list of
female and male stereotypes which have been extensively used in prior research to examine
gender (or racial) stereotypes in print advertisements as seen below (Hatzithomas et al., 2016). See

The American Express ( Axp )
Background
In May 15 American Express (AXP) launched a coalition loyalty program called Plenti. Under
coalition loyalty programs, members can earn and redeem points by shopping at participating
merchants (e.g., Exxon, Macys, Rite Aid and ATT.) The program helps consumers to earn rewards
faster and lead to a higher level of engagement with a program which provides merchants an
opportunity to attract new customers and run cross promotional campaigns. However, the biggest
challenge in launching the program was signing up merchants and building an economic case for
shifting away from proprietary to collaborative program.
AXP was in negotiations with Rite Aid to join the program. Under their old loyalty program
(Wellness+), Rite Aid issued reward dollars (+UPs).The dollars could be used for purchase within
their stores over next two weeks, while in Plenti program the points (1 point = 1 cents) are valid
for three years and can be redeemed at any participating merchant. Rite Aid was concerned that if
they joined Plenti, customers will continue to earn points at Rite Aid but with more redemption
options and longer validity, the redemptions will be skewed towards other merchants especially the
Grocer Partner. In effect, they will be subsidizing a loyalty program for the Grocer.
Challenge
As part of the negotiations, our team was tasked to identify and propose Performance Guarantees to
address Rite Aid s concerns.
With no data and uncertainty about other merchants who will

and unwanted pregnancies. In the past, male trafficking has been very rare, but lately in some
states it has become more popular than female trafficking. The men are used to work in hard labor
jobs. In the past year male trafficking has outnumbered females in certain categories of trafficking.
Traffickers have started to use 3 methods such as: Means, action, and purpose. These 3 methods all

The Pros And Cons Of The Industrial Revolution
A series of agricultural advancements were made throughout 18th century Britain that improved
cultivation methods and allowed for more efficient crop production that helped pay off much of the
country s debt and create a more stable and affordable diet for everyone. These improvements paved
the way for many other revolutions to occur such as the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial
Revolution made manual labor much easier through the use of machines. The high demand for the
products Britain was producing called for many workers and machines to meet the need. It created
many jobs and allowed anyone willing to work to make a sufficient living
During the Industrial Revolution many new technologies were made that helped to expedite the
production of goods in high demand. Since Britain was producing these goods at a faster rate
they were able to meet the needs and supply surrounding areas with the goods. Britain was able to
make a good profit off of these goods because of how high the demand was for them. Textiles were
one of the products most requested because the people wanted more clothing options. Textiles were
previously made from woolen cloth until they discovered cotton was more efficient. The more
popular cotton was becoming, the more workers needed, as a result landowners turned to slavery.
Many new machines were created which dwindled the responsibility on the slaves. One of these
inventions is the pulley, it lightened the weight when lifting heavy objects. The

Analysis Of Yevgeny Zamyatin s The Road For Future...
Yevgeny Zamyatin s We is known as the first dystopian novel and has paved the road for future
dystopian novels, like George Orwell s 1984. Both We and 1984 are scarily relevant to the 21st
century and act as warnings against the natural outcomes of totalitarianism. We s protagonist is
numbered D 503, a mathematician and the engineer behind the Integral. He lives under the
careful watch of the Guardians and stays loyal to the authoritarian rule of the Benefactor. He
lives in a city state called the One State (or United State), which was created as a result of the
200 Years War in which the city won over the country and has protected itself from the primitive
world by building a wall around itself. This plot greatly influenced Orwell to write his own
version of this dystopia in 1984. The novel 1984 by George Orwell leaves its readers thinking
whether the world is capable of successfully functioning under a government of extreme
totalitarianism. However, ruled by the intangible body called Big Brother, which consists of the
ministries of love, war, and truth, the government develops an image of him that is almighty.
Though not a physical character, it s presented to the people of Airstrip One as a supreme figure
that has the power to conduct surveillance and watch over everyone. Petrified of a lack of freedom
and excessive censorship in the future, Orwell and Zamyatin were among the first to have penned
the consequences of an abusive and illogical government. Through the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Litigation
The litigation is the formal and conventional way in dispute resolution over the centuries of time.
Courts are traditional, recognizable forums in which litigation is adjudicated (Kennedy and
Richards, 2004). Even though there are number of methods available outside the court system
litigation is still act a major role in dispute resolutionas the conventional method.
But with the time people identified limitations of the system which created uncomfortable
situations to users due to certain drawbacks hold with the litigation system. Through litigation
successive governments has ensured that people are delivered with justice and adjudicated on their
disputes. Even though disputes are resolved through litigation people come across so many
difficulties, such as stress, expenditure, delay and bitter arguments that pave the way for further
disputes.
A major issue on using litigation for labour disputes is frequent postponements awarded in hearing a
case in the courts. According to Sivananthiran and Ratnam (2003) the most prominent cause
responsible for delay in adjudication is frequent adjournment granted by the Labour Courts. Both
workmen and employer seek adjournment after adjournment at each of the above stage and this
contributes to the delay in dispute resolution process.

Pluripotent Stem Cell Essay
A review on Induction of Pluripotent Stem Cells from Mouse Embryonic and Adult Fibroblast
Cultures by Defined Factors
В¬Stem cells are yet undifferentiated cells, with the potential capability to further divide
indefinitely, and the ability to give rise to more specialized cell types. Embryonic stem(ES) cells
are of especially great importance due to their pluripotency and hence ability to differentiate to
cells of all three germ layers. Due to the great replicative powers of these cells, they may be used
to treat degenerative diseases, or injuries to the nervous system. However, as these ES cells are
extracted from blastocysts, an ethical dilemma arises, not to mention potential rejection of foreign
bodies in patients. Typically, in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 24 candidate genes were then introduced to mouse embryonic fibroblast(MEF); when grown,
no single candidate was capable of activating the Fbx15 locus. Conversely when all 24
candidates were expressed Yamanaka and Takahashi were able to obtain multiple G418 resistant
colonies. The experiment was repeated, and six colonies were chosen. Out of these six, four
displayed morphology and proliferation properties which were highly similar to ES cells. Reverse
transcriptase PCR(RTPCR) revealed several ES cell markers, and further analysis provided evidence
that it was a combination of some of the 24 factors which induced pluripotency.
To find the specific combination required to induce pluripotency, Yamanaka and Takahashi
observed the effect of removing certain factors. A total of ten factors were noted to have critical
effect on the early growth of cells; removal of any of these ten factors resulted in no colony growth
within the first ten days of culturing. Furthermore, when these ten genes were combined, Yamanaka
and Takahashi noted that the resulting cells were more similar to ES cells than cells with all 24
factors were transduced. Out of these ten factors, further factors were withdrawn; when factors Oct
Вѕ or Klf4 were removed no G418 resistant colonies formed. Moreover, when Sox2 was removed
minimal colonies formed. While resistant colonies still formed despite the removal of c Myc, the
colonies had a distorted morphology from regular ES cells (Figure 1). The

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Micro Insurance
Micro insurance
Dealing with risks such as health problems, loss of crops, loss of livestock, the death of a family
member, loss of assets, income and employment is much harder by poor and low income groups
than others. Many poor households engage in activities which are smaller and bringing greater
degree of risk and uncertainty and therefore likely scale financial risks and income. Every serious
illness, every accident and every natural disaster threatens the existence of the poor and usually
leads to more poverty. Thus the vicious cycle of poverty carries on.

Love In Fahrenheit 451 Analysis
The Theme of Love in Fahrenheit 451
A world full a blank expressionless faces connected to even more mindless robotic people. A
world where one just breathes and eats, but never truly feels any emotion. Our world is on the
way to becoming this, but for Millie and Montag this was a sad, sad, reality in Ray Bradbury s book
Fahrenheit 451. Everything grows with time as did our main character Montag throughout the
book. Montag begins as a mindless follower and evolves into a fearless leader. As he grows into
this leader his relationship with Mildred goes through multiple changes. Montag and Millie s
story is broken into three parts. Montag first and most briefly believes he and Millie were a fairy
tale couple and then Clarisse made him realize that he was in a loveless relationship, but finally in
the last few pages Montag comes to peace with everything that has happened.
The time where Millie and Montag have a fairytale relationship is short lived but we can infer
that they had had a perfect relationship for the years leading up to the beginning of this book.
We can see an example of how Montag did everything in his power to ignore anything that
threatened his relationship when he talks to Clarisse for the first time. Clarisse asks Montag if
he is happy and Montag says quickly without much thought Of course I m happy. What does she
think? I m not? (Bradburry 8). Montag answered this question as quickly as you d answer a
simple addition problem. We see this happen in our world too. When someone asks How are
you? the only socially acceptable response is I m fine . But no one can be fine all the time. This
shows how our world is slowly beginning to become the dystopia described in Fahrenheit 451.
But everything must change and as our world changes for the worse Montag is becoming aware of
how bad his world and will set out to change it.
Next Montag realizes he has been trapped in a loveless relationship with Millie all these years.
After Clarisse asks him if he s happy he walks into his house to see that his wife has attempted
suicide. He calls the hospital expecting doctors to rush over to save her, but instead a pair of almost
janitors come to clean her out. Everything that had happened that day boiled up

Essay On The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a time of great reform in ideas and knowledge. It was such an important
part of history, that it took many people and many years to fully bring it into play. This time in life
was all about change, such as the education of women, the separation of science and church, and the
freedom to learn without government censorship. Someone people were on board with the
movement, but others fought against the great ideals of Enlightenment. Although, it is sure that
without the Enlightenment, our world would be very different today, and not in a good way.

In the 1690 s John Toland published a book titled Christianity Not Mysterious, in which he said,
Why should we have religious doctrines or dogmas at all?... Why not find a set of reasonable
principles based on nature s laws on which everyone could agree? (Jacob p42). Ideas like this had
become more common since the enlightenment, though most were not this extreme in hoping the
form religious unity.
Another change that occurred during enlightenment was the education of women. During the time
of Absolutism, women were seen as under their husband s authority and control. Women
received minimal education and if they did by chance receive a higher education, they hardly
had a voice of their own to advocate ideas. When the era of enlightenment arrived, many men
started to realized the importance and value in a woman s education. One of the major examples
of what a women s education can bring to society, was displayed through the career of Mary
Wortley Montagu. Montagu was known for taking a public stance on inoculation, practicing it on
her own children and introducing it before it became a common practice in Europe. Montagu
traveled to many places in Europe and learned from her cultural experiences. She even spoke of
educational rights in Germany, She went from city to city and decried the power of the absolutist
princes over their subjects (Jacob p24). Her work inspired many women to become educated and

Analysis Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell
Is Blink Good Psychology? Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, once said, The pendulum of the mind
oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong. In his book, Blink,
Malcolm Gladwell sets out to prove that the real difference between good and bad decision
making has more to do with our abilities as humans to focus on select, particular details about a
situation as opposed to the sheer amount of information we process, but are the tactics utilized
by Gladwell in his novel good psychology? It is of my belief that Gladwell s work is psychology
due to the amount of outside studies, research, and applications Gladwell incorporates into his
book in addition to the fact that it attempts to follow the eight critical thinking guidelines as per
Psychology and the DSM 5. While Gladwell does not specifically outline how his theory of thin
slicing and snap decision making relates to the eight guidelines, this information follows these
guidelines; this enables us to more accurately judge the content of his novel because he analyzed
the information he used. The first of these is define your terms: In the first several chapters of his

The Trial of Jesus Essay
In The Judaeo Christian Tradition by Jack H. Hexter, the trial of Jesus is addressed in an
unorthodox perspective. The trial of Jesus incorporates two trials: the Roman trial and the Jewish
trial. In Hexter s book the Roman trial is addressed in great length while the Jewish trial is almost
unaddressed. Hexter provides a perspective of the trial of Jesuswith only one cause: the charge of
sedition, for claiming to be king of the Jews. By using the four gospel texts, Hexter s view is
illuminated and we find crucial aspects to the trial that not only counter Hexter s view on the
sedition charge but also provide evidence for other important charges. Themes other than the charge
of sedition supporting Hexter s perspective include, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hexter blames Pilate for being the sole decision maker for the death of Jesus, but once again, the
Four Gospel texts allude the Jewish community for being a major influence upon the death of Jesus.
Hexter begins his thesis with one sentence stating that only Pilate gave the order of Jesus death:
...who in turn gave him to the procurator Pontius Pilate for trial. (Hexter 63) Hexter does not
address the Jewish community that is in upheaval during a time of Passover or Pilates role
throughout the trial. Pontius Pilate, as Roman Governor, had a position to fulfill to the Roman
population along with the Jewish community. During a time of Jewish Passover, along with the
chaos Jesus had created, Pilate was under great influence from many outside factors. The stir
created by Jesus preaching and the size of his following perturbed both the Roman and the Jewish
authorities, fearful of any wind that might fan the smoldering discontent in Palestine into a raging
flame of revolt. (Hexter 62) In the Roman trial, Pilate was chosen to judge Jesus on the act of
sedition, however counter to Hexter s perspective, repeatedly stated that he saw no case against
him. In the Gospel of John, it is apparent that Pilate not only doesn t want to be involved but is
puzzled at the situation at hand. Your own nation and the chief of priests have handed you over to
me; what have you done? (John 18:33) Pilate is attempting to keep order in his city and rather not

Mise-en-Scene in Napoleon Dynamite Essay
Mise en Scene in Napoleon Dynamite
In Napoleon Dynamite (Jared Hess, 2004), the character known as Napoleon Dynamite (Jon
Heder) is quite a unique fellow. His quirkiness and eccentricity are what make him as a character;
they are the primary traits of his personality. Keep in mind, however, that he is not the only odd
character in the film, but he has his own peerless way of defining himself separate from any other
character(s). This effect is achieved through certain cinematic techniques that director Jared Hess
utilizes in order to bring out Napoleon s persona in ways other than simply guessing who he really
is. Rather, these techniques explicitly imply certain character traits; they are like clues that allow

Additionally, considerable portion of the significant sound in the film occurs in the music. The
most blatant effect of the music is the cheesy MIDI arrangements. These outdated compositions
portray the tackiness of Napoleon; he and the music are clearly out of style. One of the crudest
examples of this is when Napoleon buys his suit; the muzak in the background is as unbearably
corny as Napoleon s taste in clothing. Albeit music is a fundamental factor in Napoleon Dynamite,
it is not the only element of sound that is relevant.
The sound effects in the film also give clues as to what kind of person Napoleon really is. One
supporting example is when he is eating tots in the middle of class. The unnecessarily loud
crunching noise portrays his manifest lack of craftiness and style. There was one audio technique,
however, that was extremely puzzling. In every scene inside a house, there is a very subtle
background of birds chirping. This emphasizes the fact that Napoleon lives a rural community,
rather than a busy suburb or city setting. This sound is extremely understated, however, and is
obviously intended to be a subconscious feature to the viewer.
Napoleon uses some of his own characteristic sounds in the film to facilitate who he is. As a matter
of fact, the first sound he makes in the movie is long, depressed sigh when he sees the school bus
approaching. This

Let us start with the simplest one, the Air element. This element is really basic. Although Air

The Great Gatsby And Cugat s Cover Art
Art and Literature connect in a multitude of ways, including style, message, and creative vision.
Yet, it is not often that these two converge in a way that heightens the messages of both. F. Scott
Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby and Cugat s cover art exhibit the synthesis of these two expressions.
By writing the cover into the story, Fitzgerald blurs the line that separates these two pieces of art
and merges their message of change to culture and the true nature of that culture. With the artistic
aspects of blue shade, bright imagery, and raw emotion, Fitzgerald provides the inspiration for
Cugat to paint the realistic picture of the 1920 s, while Fitzgerald constructs the world of the West

This means that bright lights, clothing, and their symbolism are used in accordance with race and a

the story, most notably Tom, actually exhibits the evil sensibilities of the West and East Egg
residents. This racial bias displays the American sensibilities of the time because of the racial
tension during the 1920 s. Yet, this oppression because of color opposes the bright colors of
prosperity. Sarah Churchwell states that the story, spoke of the American Dream, they meant the
American hope, the American aspiration, the American ideal. When people wrote of the American

some orange juice in the fridge. I knew that she d be offended if I said no, so I smiled. I d love
some. So she grabbed her tray of cookies, setting some on a plate and poured a cup of orange
juice. Okay, come sit with me. Have a break, so we can chat. I was eating and chatting with Mrs
Wood, when Oliver walked in. Mum, who are you talking too. He groaned when he saw my face
and looked at his mum. What is he doing here again? Mrs Wood smiled. Oh, the poor love has
been working on our plumbing for half an hour! Oliver frowned. Half an hour? What the hell have

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Biomass
Cooking Using Biomass Energy Biomass refers to living and recently dead biological materials
that can be used as fuel or for industrial production.
Moreover, Biomass Energy is one of the most reliable alternative energy sources in the present and
the future as well. According Adria and Bethge (2013, p.9), more than 2.5 billion people still
depend on biomass such as wood, waste or drug for cooking, In Nepal about 88% percent of total
energy consumption is traditional biomass resources and out of the bio mass resources nearly 78%
is met by wood. The majority of the wood resources are used for cooking purposes but combusted
in the traditional wood stoves which causes major health and environmental impacts. Therefore, to
use this limited source of energy in a more sustainable manner more efficient devices and
technologies have to be promoted.
Types of Biomass stoves promoted in Nepal Mud brick stove This is the most widely used
technology in Nepal. 1 The mud brick is made of clay, rice husk, cow and few metal rods.
Moreover, the Mud brick is available in different models such as one pothole, two pothole and three
pothole.
Advantages of Mud brick It s cheap in cost Can be built very easily More than 15% of efficiency

Cold Sassy Tree By Rucker Blakeslee
Cold Sassy Tree
Through time, people have made choices that have not been considered socially acceptable by
their peers. From one choice, these peers will shun, bully and ridicule. In Cold Sassy Tree,
Rucker Blakeslee tested the society s limits when he remarried to a young woman, Miss Love
Simpson, shortly after the death of his first wife. The town found it repulsive that a man would not
wait a couple years, much less a couple months before even thinking about remarrying. Miss Love
and Rucker made their choice, although everyone in town was critical of the choice they made.
The young couple was judged by Cold Sassy due to the choice they made was not a choice
anyone else in town would consider. Why is it socially unacceptable to compose an unpopular
decision? The Gospel of Mark tells the story of Jesus visiting his hometown. He visited a
synagogue and begins to teach the people around him, but the people were offended. People
questioned him as only the carpenter, the son of Mary. The implied meaning is that he was
worthless teaching, and he could only heal a few people. Jesus was the son of God and many
skeptical people in his time did not believe it. Jesus went through many different times of not
being socially accepted, like how Rucker was socially rejected for remarrying. In their times, peers
made choices of what others would think or would not accept what they did not know. It was
considered unacceptable to make these decisions for the reason that

Ductus Arteriosus
This paper will critique research and literatures about the use of paracetamol in treating Patent
Ductus Arteriosus.
Background
In the foetal circulation, the primary role of the ductus arteriosus (DA) is to divert the ventricular
output away from the lungs towards the placenta in utero by its connection between the pulmonary
artery and the descending aorta. The patency of the ductus is mainly regulated by low oxygen
tension present in the foetal lung and prostaglandin, which is known for its vasodilating effect in
the placental circulation. Prostaglandin levels are usually high as a result of placental production
and low clearance ability of the foetal lung (Gardner, Carter, Enzman Hines, Hernandez,2016).
The DA closure is essential for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Daily cardiac ultrasounds were done from the first day to the last dose of treatment. During the
course of treatment, the duct was observed to close at a faster rate in the paracetamol group
(p=0.016). A high confidence interval of 95% with a mean of 177 hours ductal closure for
paracetamol treated group while confidence interval of the controlled group was 388 hours
(p=0.045). The therapeutic serum range of paracetamol was also measured with no evidence of
adverse effect (Harkin, Harma, Aikio, Valkama, Leskinen, Saarela,

Telescopic Lenses Research Paper
To begin, the invention of the telescopic lenses was first led by a Dutch eyeglass maker named
Hans Lippershey. During the time of 1608, Lippershey tried to get ownership on his creation
that allowed the device to have three times magnification, allowing you to see objects closer
than what they truly are. The telescope that he had created had a concave eyepiece that lines up
with a convex lens. To explain what a concave is the best description would be that it s an object
that curves inward, like a flashlight or headlights on a car. The opposite of that is a convex, which
is an object that curves outward. According to the article called Space, one story goes that he got
the idea for his design after observing two children in his shop holding... Show more content on

In 1609, Galilei became interested in the Dutch perspective glasses which allowed you to see far
objects up close and decided to make one of his own. Within days he had created one without
ever actually seeing a model of the design. However, he was not quite satisfied with the
beginning model so he continued to improve the design that led him officially to present his
creation to the Venetian State. This caused a shift in his career as the Senate set him up
permanently as a lecturer at the University of Padua. This led to his invention of the telescope,
that like Lippershey was able to let far objects seem close. Galilei made the telescope with a
magnification of twenty times and allowed him to be the first to point the telescope to the moon.
This was a change in astronomy history as it allowed him to discover and uncover information
about space.
Third, the invention of the telescopic lenses was lastly led by Joseph Von Fraunhofer. He was
born in Bavaria, Germany on March 6, 1787. According to the encyclopedia of world Biography,
he was the first the solve the problem of constructing achromatic lenses of high magnitude. He
built the great Dorpat Reflector in 1824 that was a large telescope with the lens. These lenses were
not a usual type but achromatic, as opposed to the mirrors commonly used in the other lenses. The
Dorpat Reflector was 9.5 inches and 14 feet

The Legacy Of The South Carolina
Over the last three decades several United States auto jobs have migrated to the South. Some of the
things that have attracted these auto giants to these Southern States is the cost of living and
operating advantages which far surpass those of their Northern counterparts, which also attract
more white collar workers. The Volvo plant is no different, their goal for building in South Carolina
is an attempt to re focus it US market share, which had long diminished. Although having these auto
giants, such as Volvo come in to these small rural towns to encourage growth and development,
what effect does it really have in the community?

The Importance Of Teachers On The Classroom Environment
In order to develop strong relationships with my students, colleagues, and parents, I plan to do a
variety of little things to yield big results. The relationship that teachers have with students is vital
to the classroom environment. In You ve Got to Reach Them to Teach Them, Mary Kim Schrek
writes that the human encounter between teacher and student is often a more powerful teaching
tool than the academic content, the grade, the data analysis, and the hours spent picking apart the
curriculum (Schrek, 2011, p. 5). In order to establish such relationships, I plan to follow a four step
procedure that I read about in an article by Nina Sears on the National EducationAssociation s
website. Sears article suggests that a teacher get to know their students, individualize the
curriculum, watch what they say, and keep trying to reach students (Sears, 2014). As an attempt
to get to know my students, I will create a little survey on the first day of school for each student
to fill out; questions would include asking my students what their favorite color is or what type
of books they like to read. By doing this, I will learn about my students likes and dislikes and
how to use their answer in the curriculum. Individualizing the curriculum might seem like a huge
undertaking but if a teacher is willing to work with the student, it is not a big deal. For example, I
was an auditory learner and I had a teacher who altered the project requirements so I could write a
song to

The Snowman Symbolism
The scene of the snowman that Jem and Scout built represents the Plantation South and how the
whites got credit for everything that the slaves did. Jem s creation of the snowman also brings to
mind God s Creation of man. That God was willing to save mankind from sin by sacrificing His
Son Jesus shows that all people have worth.
That shows symbolism of how the building blocks of white society was based on black labor. Jem
and Scout built a mudman because there wasn t enough snow on the ground to make a snowman.
When Scout sees what he is doing she says Jem I ain t ever heard of a nigger snowman. Jem
finishes building the mudman and then covers it with white snow. The snowman that eventually
turns out to be a snow woman is symbolic. It

With these changes that have happened comes drastic opinions on economic utility. Economic utility is the amount of satisfactory a customer is granted from a product or service. On one hand you have the customer that would rather stay home and watch a movie on Netflix. On the other hand you have a customer that would go to the theatre to watch the newest movies. These are the movies that people on netflix can t experience yet. In this project I am going to discuss the impact that Netflix has had on the movie and television industries. There are four different variables of economic utility that have evolved with the arrival of Netflix. These include product form, time, place, and product possession. First off, I m going to talk about the impact the movie industry had on economy before the arrival of Netflix. Before Netflix, movie theatres had different competitors. Some of these include sporting events, restaurants, and clubs. People would have to decide what they wanted to do during their free time. One of the economic utilities that was very different before Netflix was place. Unless people were using the internet to watch videos they would have to go to the theatres or rent a movie to take home. Shakespeare s A Doll s House Essay The Performance of Gender in Ibsen s A Doll s House It can be said that the sound of Nora Helmer slamming the door behind her as she leaves her husband and children in pursuit of self actualization is one of the most famous in theatre history. The journey the characters in A Doll s House take in order to build to this powerful moment is a fascinating one. Countless scholars have analyzed aspects of Ibsen s famous play; some have examined the complicated marriage between Nora and Torvald Helmer, while others have found Ibsen s social commentary piquing their interest. In this particular case, it is this paper s endeavor to thoroughly examine the ways in which gender is performed in this classic play. Primarily, Judith Butler s famous book, Gender Trouble:Feminism and the Subversion of Identity, will serve as the critical lens for this analysis. Two productions of Ibsen s work will provide the performances for analysis: director Patrick Garland s 1973 film starring Claire Bloom and Anthony Hopkins, and Mabou Mines postmodern adaptation. Butler s gender performance theory will help to illuminate the social commentary and underlying themes present in Ibsen s masterpiece and will hopefully reveal aspects of Nora and Torvald s character that were perhaps hidden until now. What one ought to have known is The Great Ancient city of Tikal. Tikal located in present day Guatemala is just one of the sites of the Mayan Civilization. The Mayan Civilization ranges from Mexico to the south in Central America. Embedded in their society were beliefs that evolved around sacrifices to their Gods who were usually past kings. Although archaeologist have worked hard trying to discover more information about the Mayan world, they have just scraped the surface of their history. One of the greatest mysteries of the Maya today is the rapid decline of the society depicted by the last stela, an upright stone slab or column, located around 869 A.D. at Tikal and 909 A.D. in the Mayan World about 1000 years before Columbus reached the island of El Salvador in 1492. • 6. Stephen Crane Naturalism Essay My interpretation of Crane s poem, the deeds people tell of war only tell that of the battles, the hardship, no one hears about the angels on the battlefield or the interactions that happen outside of battle. He sees the romantic view, and yet the naturalistic view at the same time. Though he leans more in the direction of romanticism, he does include some naturalism in his writing. For example, from The Red Badge of Courageby Stephen Crane, he states, He developed the acute exacerbation of a pestered animal, a well meaning cow worried by dogs. Represents a naturalistic state of mind, but nevertheless, he mostly relies on romanticism. Naturalism, nature doesn t care. It s every animal for themselves. As for the Romantic side of things, from The Veteran by Stephen Crane, he writes, When the roof fell in, a great funnel of smoke swarmed toward the sky, as if the old man s mighty spirit, released from its body a little bottle had swelled like the genie of fable. ... Eric Best November 13th, 2012 Mr. Moore CHC2Da The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) is commonly argued to be the most important transportation route in Canadian history, but most do not know the substantial benefits it provided. More specifically, it provided benefits to farmers, financiers, and consumers. The financiers of the railway were the group of people that the railway benefitted the most, mainly because of the significant amount of use it received in the 19th century. Overall, the financiers of the railway had benefitted tremendously from the amount of money being brought in by the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The construction of the CPR also provided many benefits for consumers in Canada at the time of being built, as well as after for many years to come. Receiving goods was made much easier through the use of the CPR to deliver products to the eastern part of Canada. This was mostly just a convenience for consumers rather than really benefitting them financially. As a result of easier transportation to the eastern Canada, the price of food and goods was far less coming from the west because of the low shipment costs issued by the CPR, which was a financial benefit for the consumers of Canada. The standard of living in turn was increased by the lower costs of items needed for the standard every day life of citizens living in Canada. This was mostly apparent in the lower to middle class division in that time, where obvious gains were apparent, so the new immigrants and poor began to lift out of poverty at a substantial rate. Another benefit that consumers had was that they were not required to pay tariffs on the CPR; only the clients of the railway were required to pay fares to the financiers, which was another convenience for consumers. A stereotype is a fixed belief about someone s religion, gender, or social group. Stereotypes can have positive and negative affects on our society. Often times, people use stereotypes to belittle a group of people. An example of a racial stereotype would include all Hispanics being illegal immigrants. Racial stereotypesalways favor the raceof the holder and put down other races. People use racial stereotypes because it is human nature to recognize patterns. When seeing these patterns within a specific race people often tend to immediately associate him or herself within that society. From a positive point of view stereotypes can give confidence and favor them above a certain group or class of people. Stereotypes such as Asians have high IQs can make them have confidence in themselves. often times it is hard to live up to a positive stereotype. Although we think positive stereotyping is a good thing it really is not. Most positive stereotyping sets the bar unrealistically high and only leaves room for failure. Another example of a positive stereotype with a negative affect is All black people are good at sports. If a particular African American is not good at sports then they will feel less than adequate. Under coalition loyalty programs, members can earn and redeem points by shopping at participating merchants (e.g., Exxon, Macys, Rite Aid and ATT.) The program helps consumers to earn rewards faster and lead to a higher level of engagement with a program which provides merchants an opportunity to attract new customers and run cross promotional campaigns. However, the biggest challenge in launching the program was signing up merchants and building an economic case for shifting away from proprietary to collaborative program. AXP was in negotiations with Rite Aid to join the program. Under their old loyalty program (Wellness+), Rite Aid issued reward dollars (+UPs).The dollars could be used for purchase within their stores over next two weeks, while in Plenti program the points (1 point = 1 cents) are valid for three years and can be redeemed at any participating merchant. Rite Aid was concerned that if they joined Plenti, customers will continue to earn points at Rite Aid but with more redemption options and longer validity, the redemptions will be skewed towards other merchants especially the Grocer Partner. We s protagonist is numbered D 503, a mathematician and the engineer behind the Integral. Pluripotent Stem Cell Essay A review on Induction of Pluripotent Stem Cells from Mouse Embryonic and Adult Fibroblast Cultures by Defined Factors В¬Stem cells are yet undifferentiated cells, with the potential capability to further divide indefinitely, and the ability to give rise to more specialized cell types. Embryonic stem(ES) cells are of especially great importance due to their pluripotency and hence ability to differentiate to cells of all three germ layers. Due to the great replicative powers of these cells, they may be used to treat degenerative diseases, or injuries to the nervous system. However, as these ES cells are extracted from blastocysts, an ethical dilemma arises, not to mention potential rejection of foreign bodies in patients. Typically, in... Conversely when all 24 candidates were expressed Yamanaka and Takahashi were able to obtain multiple G418 resistant colonies. The experiment was repeated, and six colonies were chosen. Out of these six, four displayed morphology and proliferation properties which were highly similar to ES cells. Reverse transcriptase PCR(RTPCR) revealed several ES cell markers, and further analysis provided evidence that it was a combination of some of the 24 factors which induced pluripotency. To find the specific combination required to induce pluripotency, Yamanaka and Takahashi observed the effect of removing certain factors. A total of ten factors were noted to have critical effect on the early growth of cells; removal of any of these ten factors resulted in no colony growth within the first ten days of culturing. Furthermore, when these ten genes were combined, Yamanaka and Takahashi noted that the resulting cells were more similar to ES cells than cells with all 24 factors were transduced. Out of these ten factors, further factors were withdrawn; when factors Oct Вѕ or Klf4 were removed no G418 resistant colonies formed. Moreover, when Sox2 was removed minimal colonies formed. While resistant colonies still formed despite the removal of c Myc, the colonies had a distorted morphology from regular ES cells (Figure 1). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Love In Fahrenheit 451 Analysis The Theme of Love in Fahrenheit 451 A world full a blank expressionless faces connected to even more mindless robotic people. A world where one just breathes and eats, but never truly feels any emotion. Our world is on the way to becoming this, but for Millie and Montag this was a sad, sad, reality in Ray Bradbury s book Fahrenheit 451. Everything grows with time as did our main character Montag throughout the book. Montag begins as a mindless follower and evolves into a fearless leader. As he grows into this leader his relationship with Mildred goes through multiple changes. Montag and Millie s story is broken into three parts. Montag first and most briefly believes he and Millie were a fairy tale couple and then Clarisse made him realize that he was in a loveless relationship, but finally in the last few pages Montag comes to peace with everything that has happened. The time where Millie and Montag have a fairytale relationship is short lived but we can infer that they had had a perfect relationship for the years leading up to the beginning of this book. We can see an example of how Montag did everything in his power to ignore anything that threatened his relationship when he talks to Clarisse for the first time. Clarisse asks Montag if he is happy and Montag says quickly without much thought Of course I m happy. What does she think? I m not? (Bradburry 8). Montag answered this question as quickly as you d answer a simple addition problem. We see this happen in our world too. When someone asks How are you? the only socially acceptable response is I m fine . But no one can be fine all the time. This shows how our world is slowly beginning to become the dystopia described in Fahrenheit 451. But everything must change and as our world changes for the worse Montag is becoming aware of how bad his world and will set out to change it. Next Montag realizes he has been trapped in a loveless relationship with Millie all these years. After Clarisse asks him if he s happy he walks into his house to see that his wife has attempted suicide. He calls the hospital expecting doctors to rush over to save her, but instead a pair of almost janitors come to clean her out. Everything that had happened that day boiled up ... • 28. Analysis Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell Is Blink Good Psychology? Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, once said, The pendulum of the mind oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong. In his book, Blink, Malcolm Gladwell sets out to prove that the real difference between good and bad decision making has more to do with our abilities as humans to focus on select, particular details about a situation as opposed to the sheer amount of information we process, but are the tactics utilized by Gladwell in his novel good psychology? It is of my belief that Gladwell s work is psychology due to the amount of outside studies, research, and applications Gladwell incorporates into his book in addition to the fact that it attempts to follow the eight critical thinking guidelines as per Psychology and the DSM 5. While Gladwell does not specifically outline how his theory of thin slicing and snap decision making relates to the eight guidelines, this information follows these guidelines; this enables us to more accurately judge the content of his novel because he analyzed the information he used. The first of these is define your terms: In the first several chapters of his book, Gladwell explains to readers the terms he uses such as the adaptive unconscious The adaptive unconscious is thoughtof, instead, as a kind of computer that quickly and quietly processes a lot of the data we need in order to keep functioning as human beings (pg. 11) and priming experiments by giving... The trial of Jesus incorporates two trials: the Roman trial and the Jewish trial. In Hexter s book the Roman trial is addressed in great length while the Jewish trial is almost unaddressed. Hexter provides a perspective of the trial of Jesuswith only one cause: the charge of sedition, for claiming to be king of the Jews. By using the four gospel texts, Hexter s view is illuminated and we find crucial aspects to the trial that not only counter Hexter s view on the sedition charge but also provide evidence for other important charges. (Hexter 63) Hexter does not address the Jewish community that is in upheaval during a time of Passover or Pilates role throughout the trial. Pontius Pilate, as Roman Governor, had a position to fulfill to the Roman population along with the Jewish community. During a time of Jewish Passover, along with the chaos Jesus had created, Pilate was under great influence from many outside factors. The stir created by Jesus preaching and the size of his following perturbed both the Roman and the Jewish authorities, fearful of any wind that might fan the smoldering discontent in Palestine into a raging flame of revolt. In the Gospel of John, it is apparent that Pilate not only doesn t want to be involved but is puzzled at the situation at hand. His quirkiness and eccentricity are what make him as a character; they are the primary traits of his personality. Keep in mind, however, that he is not the only odd character in the film, but he has his own peerless way of defining himself separate from any other character(s). Additionally, considerable portion of the significant sound in the film occurs in the music. The most blatant effect of the music is the cheesy MIDI arrangements. These outdated compositions portray the tackiness of Napoleon; he and the music are clearly out of style. One of the crudest examples of this is when Napoleon buys his suit; the muzak in the background is as unbearably corny as Napoleon s taste in clothing. Albeit music is a fundamental factor in Napoleon Dynamite, it is not the only element of sound that is relevant. The sound effects in the film also give clues as to what kind of person Napoleon really is. One supporting example is when he is eating tots in the middle of class. The unnecessarily loud crunching noise portrays his manifest lack of craftiness and style. There was one audio technique, however, that was extremely puzzling. In every scene inside a house, there is a very subtle background of birds chirping. This emphasizes the fact that Napoleon lives a rural community, rather than a busy suburb or city setting. This sound is extremely understated, however, and is obviously intended to be a subconscious feature to the viewer. The Gospel of Mark tells the story of Jesus visiting his hometown. He visited a synagogue and begins to teach the people around him, but the people were offended. People questioned him as only the carpenter, the son of Mary. The implied meaning is that he was worthless teaching, and he could only heal a few people. Jesus was the son of God and many skeptical people in his time did not believe it. Jesus went through many different times of not being socially accepted, like how Rucker was socially rejected for remarrying. In their times, peers made choices of what others would think or would not accept what they did not know. It was considered unacceptable to make these decisions for the reason that ... • 42. Ductus Arteriosus This paper will critique research and literatures about the use of paracetamol in treating Patent Ductus Arteriosus. Background In the foetal circulation, the primary role of the ductus arteriosus (DA) is to divert the ventricular output away from the lungs towards the placenta in utero by its connection between the pulmonary artery and the descending aorta. The patency of the ductus is mainly regulated by low oxygen tension present in the foetal lung and prostaglandin, which is known for its vasodilating effect in the placental circulation. Prostaglandin levels are usually high as a result of placental production and low clearance ability of the foetal lung (Gardner, Carter, Enzman Hines, Hernandez,2016). The DA closure is essential for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Daily cardiac ultrasounds were done from the first day to the last dose of treatment. • 43. Telescopic Lenses Research Paper To begin, the invention of the telescopic lenses was first led by a Dutch eyeglass maker named Hans Lippershey. During the time of 1608, Lippershey tried to get ownership on his creation that allowed the device to have three times magnification, allowing you to see objects closer than what they truly are. The telescope that he had created had a concave eyepiece that lines up with a convex lens. To explain what a concave is the best description would be that it s an object that curves inward, like a flashlight or headlights on a car. The opposite of that is a convex, which is an object that curves outward. According to the article called Space, one story goes that he got the idea for his design after observing two children in his shop holding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1609, Galilei became interested in the Dutch perspective glasses which allowed you to see far objects up close and decided to make one of his own. Within days he had created one without ever actually seeing a model of the design. However, he was not quite satisfied with the beginning model so he continued to improve the design that led him officially to present his creation to the Venetian State. This caused a shift in his career as the Senate set him up permanently as a lecturer at the University of Padua. This led to his invention of the telescope, that like Lippershey was able to let far objects seem close. Galilei made the telescope with a magnification of twenty times and allowed him to be the first to point the telescope to the moon. This was a change in astronomy history as it allowed him to discover and uncover information about space. Third, the invention of the telescopic lenses was lastly led by Joseph Von Fraunhofer. He was born in Bavaria, Germany on March 6, 1787. According to the encyclopedia of world Biography, he was the first the solve the problem of constructing achromatic lenses of high magnitude. He built the great Dorpat Reflector in 1824 that was a large telescope with the lens. These lenses were not a usual type but achromatic, as opposed to the mirrors commonly used in the other lenses. • 45. The Importance Of Teachers On The Classroom Environment In order to develop strong relationships with my students, colleagues, and parents, I plan to do a variety of little things to yield big results. The relationship that teachers have with students is vital to the classroom environment. In You ve Got to Reach Them to Teach Them, Mary Kim Schrek writes that the human encounter between teacher and student is often a more powerful teaching tool than the academic content, the grade, the data analysis, and the hours spent picking apart the curriculum (Schrek, 2011, p. 5). In order to establish such relationships, I plan to follow a four step procedure that I read about in an article by Nina Sears on the National EducationAssociation s website. Sears article suggests that a teacher get to know their students, individualize the curriculum, watch what they say, and keep trying to reach students (Sears, 2014). As an attempt to get to know my students, I will create a little survey on the first day of school for each student to fill out; questions would include asking my students what their favorite color is or what type of books they like to read. By doing this, I will learn about my students likes and dislikes and how to use their answer in the curriculum. Individualizing the curriculum might seem like a huge undertaking but if a teacher is willing to work with the student, it is not a big deal. For example, I was an auditory learner and I had a teacher who altered the project requirements so I could write a song to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
