2. The Value of Learning Styles
The Value of Learning Styles Learning styles and their value have been debated for some time.
Students may have a preferred style but this doesn t mean that educators should use just one form to
accommodate an individual s style. Using a multitude of styles will keep a student s interest and will
ensure a more solid understanding of the information presented.
Many researchers believe that everyone has a preferred learning style and have developed a list of
questions and if answered truthfully, are designed to indicate what preferred style the learner has. The
basic learning styles are auditory, visual and kinesthetic. The auditory learners prefer information
presented in a lecture format; Visual learners will do best with images or ... Show more content on

M., 2013, p. 2). With all of these varying ideas on how to categorize students way of learning it
becomes difficult to know how to best accomplish teaching for a group of different learners. While it
would seem that students benefit from learning in their preferred style or type the reality is that there
may be more to this. The unfortunate truth is the studies that investigate teaching to the student s style
are for the most part flawed. The few that are not flawed show no benefit to teaching to the student s
style. (Guterl, S., 2013, p.2). Cognitive ability and the subject being taught may play more of a role in
the student s ability to learn and retain. The idea to cater to students strengths seems counter
productive. If a student struggles with visual learning, it may be advantageous to develop that
shortcoming. The goal of any education program is to leave with more knowledge. The idea of
stretching the abilities of students will only benefit them in the end. When a child is very little and
unable to walk we don t discourage them from developing the strength and coordination to walk, even
though there are other ways of moving around. We know that in time they will learn to walk and
eventually run. We encourage them to stretch their abilities and by that develop more abilities. The
same could be said of learning styles; by a student learning in a style that is less desirable they are
developing a new strength.
Another way to look at learning styles is the

Firewire Surfboards
Firewire Surfboards
Firewire Surfboards Firewire Surfboards was launched in 2005 by a group of friends who wanted to
create surfboards for just anyone that wanted to go out and enjoy the waves. The claim is that the
Firewire surfboards are lighter, stronger, and more flexible than the based competition s surfboards. In
order to keep up with the competition Firewire decided to start making custom surfboards instead of
just their usual off the rack sizes. Along with making custom surfboards Firewire is doing other things
in order to stay ahead of their competition. Channel Islands and Lost Surfboards are Firewires two
major competitors. Channel Islands surfboards not only cost more but the ... Show more content on

One of their competing companies also asked to buy some of their boards, which shows that there has
to be something good about them. With the analysis of Firewire Surfboards, there is definitely a
promising future in store for the company. With the technology that Firewire uses in their surfboards,
it enables them to make lighter, stronger, more flexible surf boards. Materials have always led the
advances in surfboards (Longnecker, Petty, Palich, Moore, 2010). With the company that supplied 90
percent of surfboard makers core materials closing and companies having to find different materials to
make their boards, Firewire has a great opportunity to take over since their surfboards are not made of
the same materials that all other boards are. Although this will allow them to take over the surfboard
industry, potential rivals will more than likely try to find ways to keep up with Firewire just like in any
other industry. Firewire will still have a good chance of keeping ahead since they will have a nice
foundation laid before the other companies can catch up. Firewire is using the unsegmented marketing
strategy. This strategy can sometimes be successful, but it assumes that all customers desire the same
basic benefit from the product or

Dares to Vote! Susan has the courage to stand up for woman rights and Ana in I Escaped a Violent
Gang stood up for the truth which took courage to do. But both texts share different moods. The mood
in I Escaped a Violent Gang was more violent and abusive compared to Susan B Anthony Dares to
Vote which is a more uplifting mood filled with determination. In the memoir I Escaped a Violent
Gang, the author shows us that you must be strong and willing to go against all odds to escape a gang.

The Body vs. Stand by Me
Did you know that Stand by Me a academy award winning film directed by Rob Steiner was based of
a novel called The Body by Stephen King ? In fact in both the novel and film the plot is the same but
there are some small changes. The plot is about four twelve year olds who embark into a journey to
discover the body of Ray Brower. During their journey each boy learns something extraordinary about
themselves and about there friends. The main conflict in the novel is that there is another group of
older boys who are also searching for the body. The novel was released in 1982 and the film was
released in 1986. Even though the film was amazing there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel the setting of the story takes place in a small town named Castle Rock that is located in
Maine in the year 1960 and in the film the setting is Castle Rock, Oregon in 1959. This difference
would be considered a minor change because it is only one year apart from the original date in the
novel and the change of the state does not really matter. Adding to differences is that in the novel in
chapter seven there is a story that is told by Gordie called Stud City in the film it is not shown or
mentioned. This would be considered a major change because the story shows how smart and mature
Gordie is for a twelve year old and it is important for the build up of the character but it is excluded
from the film. Another difference is that in the novel when the boys find the body and they confront
the other boys Chris pulls the gun out to make them leave. In the film it is Gordie who takes out the
gun to make them leave. This is a major change because in the novel it helped make the ending make
more sense and helped Chris buildup as a character. In addition to differences in the novel when the
boys are on there journey they go into the pond to swim because they want to. In the film they go into
the pond because they have to in order to get across. This isn t considered a major change because it
doesn t affect the plot in any way. Something the filmmakers did well

7. Service Quality—from Definition to Measurement
Service Quality From Definition to Measurement Introduction In recent years, more and more
companies start to concentrate on the quality of their products. The products could be tangible as
physical goods, or intangible like the service. This article is more about the service product. Since the
service has no tangible form, the service quality is difficult to measure. Businesses want to get the
information about the customers perceptions of the service they provided. Then they need to measure
the service quality. A useful tool can be used is a multiple item scale for measuring consumer
perceptions of service quality called SERVQUAL. There is also another tool called SERVPERF which
has the conflict with SERVQUAL. As the debate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, the service quality and consumer satisfaction are fairly relevant. Service quality measurement
Due to the intangibility of service quality, it is very difficult for a firm to know whether the consumers
satisfy their service or not. Although it is difficult to measure service quality, it is still a development
of a multiple item scale for measuring service quality which is called SERVQUAL (Parasuraman et al.
1988). The SERVQUAL was developed originally based on the 10 potentially dimensions which
revealed by Parasuraman et al. (1985) as access, courtesy, communication, tangibles,
understanding/knowing the customer, responsiveness, reliability, security, competence, and credibility.
But the final dimensions of the SERVQUAL are only five, tangibles, reliability, responsiveness,
assurance, empathy (Parasuraman et al. 1988). As the five dimensions have some relationship with the
difficult of measuring service quality. First one is the tangibles which include the physical facilities,
equipment and appearance of personnel that will affect the service quality by the external
environment. Reliability and the other three dimensions are all the internal effects which relate to the
service producer him or herself. These four dimensions are more difficult to control than the external
one which is tangibles. Both of the expectations of the consumer to the service and perceptions of the
provider s performance can be assessed by the SERVQUAL method (McAlexander

8. Barbie History
The History of Barbie The Barbie doll: a household name that many little girls admire, many adults
dislike, and many people enjoy using as a topic for debate. Although the doll made its world debut in
1959, its popularity has not slowed down since. This may be because of Barbie s luxurious wardrobe,
or her perfect anatomically improbable figure that so many girls of all ages wish they had. With
Barbie s popularity comes the price of people bashing her for any flaws they can find. Since the
creation of Barbie, there have been many controversies over her forever changing looks and what they
represent.
Although Barbie was introduced to the world in 1959, many important events occurred that lead up to
her creation. Ruth Mosko, born on November ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people accuse Barbie of involuntarily influencing young girls and making them more self
conscious about how they look, setting the foundation for possibly developing an eating disorder in
the future. One argument is centered around the Slumber Party Barbie , which came with a scale that
was always set to 110 pounds and a book which said the only way to lose weight was to do this one
thing: Don t Eat!. The impact of the Barbie doll on eating habits was shown in a study where girls
from ages 5 to 8 were shown pictures of either a Barbie or a more lifelike doll, and the girls who saw
the Barbie doll had a stronger urge to eat less (Berk). Another compelling argument surrounds the fact
whether Barbie is a feminist or not. Some people argue that Barbie is too thin and too perfectly made
up all the time, while others say that Barbie is more adult like and less harmful than other dolls which
are fishnet clad hussies with none of her dignity and professionalism (Alter). Both debates have
people continuously changing sides, not sure of how they truly feel about

10. Proposed Reasons For The Growth Of Microcter And Bacterial...
For our class as a whole, 30 out of 30 (100%) of test areas had at least small growth of bacteria and 13
out of 30 (43%) of test areas contained some sort of fungus. Meanwhile, all three control dishes all
had no growth of fungus or bacteria. One can assume that this incredibly consistent micro organism
growth could be for two reasons. First, the natural world is covered very densely with bacteria. While
the controls swabbed nothing before being introduced to the agar, all of the sampling cotton swabs
swabbed something. There could have been at least some bacterial growth in the petri dishes no matter
what was swabbed. The second possible reason for the consistent micro organism and bacterial growth
is that students selected hand picked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the first set of results were taken, mouthwash was applied in dabs to the micro organism growth.
After 24 hours, the second set of results were taken. One would have expected the growth in increase
without any mouthwash applied, so if the growth stayed stagnant, that meant the mouthwash was
curbing the growth. For 2 of 3 of Zachary and Bianca s dishes, the growth stayed the same, meaning
the mouthwash had a slight but noticeable effect. For the third dish, however, which was taken from
the dimple of a couch, the bacteria lost its glossy texture and some mass while the fungal growth lost
20 30% of its area.
All the organisms were not found at the sampling sites for multiple reasons. First, to find every
organism, groups needed something that could attach organisms to itself better than a cotton swab.
There are much better ways to take micro organisms then use a cotton swab. Second, there are many
chances for human error in testing the sampling sites. Some may have rubbed harder around a larger
area with their cotton swab and therefore found many more micro organisms in the same area
someone swabbing softly and quickly could have found.
Although everyone involved in the lab tried to make the experiment as error free as possible, the agar
that the micro organisms grew on could have easily been contaminated. First, the agar could have been

11. The Charter Of Rights And Freedom
Many Canadians of the 21st century still often wonder, was the creation of the Charter of Rights
Freedoms a mistake? It is believed that the Charter s creation was a significant benefit as it guarantees
certain political rights to Canadian citizens and civil rights of everyone in Canada from the policies
and actions of all areas and levels of government. However, many believe the Charter makes Canada
more like the United States, especially by serving corporate rights and individual rights rather than
group rights and social rights. Also, there are several rights that should be included in the Charter,
such as a right to health care and a basic right to free education. With this, by guaranteeing certain
political rights and civil rights to every Canadian citizen, it is evident that the creation of the Charter
of Rights Freedoms was not a mistake, and was truly a benefit to all Canadian citizens for many
important reasons. One important reason is that Charter guarantees all Canadians their legal rights as it
promises rights of people in dealing with the justice system and law enforcement are protected. In
addition with the guarantee of Canadians legal rights, is their language rights which is to assure people
have the right to use either the English or French language in communications with Canada s federal
government and certain provincial governments. As well as guaranteeing all Canadian s equality rights
to promise equal treatment before and under the law. The

Demographic transition is the process by which a nation/country moves from high birth rate and high

Some of the nations that have gone through this transitions are; Canada, Germany, United States and
England. The demographic transition to an industrialized society is harmful to the environment.
Industrialized countries also have the largest ecological and carbon footprint comparative to
developing/non industrialized nations. Nevertheless, demographic transitions have some notable

Alexander Hamilton vs Thomas Jefferson Did Alexander Hamilton or Thomas Jefferson have a better
plan for America? Both men had different viewpoints concerning the future of the new nation. While
Alexander Hamilton wanted to increase the central government s power, Thomas Jefferson wanted to
decrease the central government s power. These important Founding Fathers of American history
created the first two political parties, the Federalists and Democratic Republicans respectively. A
political party is a group of people with the same ideology about how the government should be run.
Evidently, Thomas Jefferson had the best ideas for America because he believed that the power of any
government should ultimately rest with the people. Jefferson was brought up by a wealthy family, and

also liked the idea of getting rich by trading with other countries. He believed in strong states rights

Intelligence Testing in Wechsler s Perspective
The definition of Intelligence has been a long debated topic, and there have been various theories and
perspectives of intelligence to date. As a result, various intelligence tests and its controversies have
surfaced with these perspectives.
One of the Charles Spearman proposed his intelligence tests on general ability, g, dismissing external
factors in the contribution of intelligence, and scoring was determined only by the factor g (Tugoy,
2003). Wechsler disagreed and defined intelligence as the individual s universal ability to act
purposefully, to reason and to affect his environment (Kezer Arik, 2012, p. 2105). In contrast to
Spearman s intelligence tests, which consists only of cognitive ... Show more content on

Researchers such as Stanovich believe that intelligence tests are unable to measure the different
notions of mental capacity. While intelligence tests take into account cognitive abilities that can be
used in the individual s everyday environment, it neglected rational thinking which includes sensible
decision making or goal prioritising (Glenn, 2009). These are important factors which contribute to
the cognitive ability of an individual. For example, a person who scores high on an intelligence test
might make poor decisions. The lack of rational thinking, as well as other aspects of cognitive ability,
might affect the individual s life in the same way that the factors measured in these intelligence tests
do. It is important to also note that many criticize intelligence tests for its lack of comprehensive
understanding of intelligence, and they argue that many tests emphasise on only one or two aspects of
the concept. However, in recent years, the CHC model, a three stratum test, is generally acknowledged
as the foundation for many contemporary intelligence tests (Kranzler Floyd, 2013). This shows how
intelligence tests have evolved to bridge the gap between its effectiveness and

HCAD 730: W 3 Forum Five Questions Suggested Responses. 1. What are the forces within America
that have shaped our health care system? Many forces shape our current healthcare system. Our
cultural belief and values shape our views on our social, political, and economic exigencies. While our
beliefs and values usually represent basic or core impressions of individuals in our society, they are
constantly changing. Thus, they lend a sense of dynamism to our health care system. Our cultural
beliefs and values also impact our sense of ethics, which also influences how we allocate our health
resources and our sense of social justice, or lack of it. And although ACA represents a major reform
the American health care system, history will tell us whether it survives after the next election cycles.
Many of the forces in American health care that affected its evolution in the past are present today.
Advances in medical science and technology still have force and effect on how our health care system
has and will evolve over time. We have a technologically driven health care system. Our educational
system shapes our health care system through its training methods and emphasis on the medical
model. Depending on the discipline, training may key on treating rather than preventing disease. This
generates demand for service delivery. Training of new physicians takes time and money. Because the
costs for a medical education are significant, many students seek postgraduate training in a

Thus, the capacity of a track and the rotational delay both increase for positions nearer the outer edge
of the disk. 12 What differences between CD and DVD account for the larger capacity of the latter? 1.
Bits are packed more closely on a DVD. The spacing between loops of a spiral on a CD is 1.6 µm and
the minimum distance between pits along the spiral is 0.834 µm. The DVD uses a laser with shorter
wavelength and achieves a loop spacing of 0.74 µm and a minimum distance between pits of 0.4 µm.
The result of these two improvements is about a seven fold increase in capacity, to about 4.7 GB. 2.
The DVD employs a second layer of pits and lands on top of the first layer A dual layer DVD has a
semireflective layer on top of the reflective layer, and by adjusting focus, the lasers in DVD drives can
read each layer separately. This technique almost doubles the capacity of the disk, to about 8.5 GB.
The lower reflectivity of the second layer limits its storage capacity so that a full doubling is not
achieved. 3. The DVD ROM can be two sided whereas data is recorded on only one side of a CD. This
brings total capacity up to 17 GB. 13 Explain serpentine recording The typical recording technique
used in serial tapes is referred to as serpentine recording. In this technique, when data are being
recorded, the first set of bits is recorded along the whole length of the tape. When the end of the tape
is reached, the heads are repositioned to record a new track, and the

17. What Causes Obesity Is The Relationship Of Energy Intake...
The most rudimentary explanation for what causes obesity is the relationship of energy intake and
expenditure and its effect on energy balance. If energy intake is greater than energy expenditure,
weight gain will occur. In contrast, energy expenditure in excess of energy intake will result in weight
loss ( Dietz Gortmaker, 2001). However, Obesity is a complex disease that involves interactions
between genetics, regulation of energy balance, and strong environmental influences such as increased
caloric intake and decreased physical activity in today s modern society. The genetic approach both in
animal models and in humans has allowed immense progress in the understanding of body weight
regulation. Monogenic forms of obesity in humans have been characterized and result from mutations
in genes involved in the central pathways of food intake regulation. However, these cases are
extremely rare and generally obesity must be considered as a complex polygenic disease involving
interactions between multiple genes and the environment (Clement Ferre, 2003) Genetics There are
several genetic factors that contribute to an individual s predisposition towards obesity in a common
environment. Several investigators have provided evidence for an association between candidate
genes and obesity related phenotypes. Currently, there are greater than 600 genes, markers and
chromosomal regions linked to obesity related phenotypes (Pérusse et al., 2005). In a large

18. Persuasive Essay On Social Engineering
The meaning of social engineering is when a hacker pretends they are a friend or a company and tries
to get your private information, and it is a large and growing issue in today s society. Today s society
is too trusting on how reliable some emails seem to be. They know not to trust some emails, but then
there are some that are too deceiving and convince them to give up top secret information, such as
social security numbers or credit card numbers, or even passwords to their accounts by creating a page
that looks like the exact company homepage but it is not.
We have all heard about emails such as the one about a prince from Nigeria whose assets have been
frozen and so forth, and we all know that s a bunch of total nonsense. Hackers that use social
engineering could attach certain malware to their emails and once you open it unless you have a good
enough antivirus program, your computer is done for and they have access to all your details. Three
matters everyone should learn about when talking about social engineering are the most famous
tactics, famous hacker Kevin Mitnick, and ways to prevent it.
The first tactic that a hacker who uses social engineering could use would be pretending that they are a
friend. Let us say you are scavenging your emails when you notice one from an old time friend and
has a link along with a bunch of nonsense about how a company is practically giving away free stuff
to people who click on the link. You would be endangering your secret

with Nurse Ratched? Justify your answer with three specific examples from the text. Red haired,
rowdy, and raunchy are three words to describe the crazy, infamous McMurphy, while the Nurse is a
prude, prideful and frigid ruler who is power hungry over the mental institution. These two mixed
together lead to a cunning war of dominance in the hospital. One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest is a
1962 novel by Ken Kesey depicting the patients at an Oregon psychiatric hospital and how the of the
patients and staff change when a new patient, Randle McMurphy arrives. From McMurphy s devious
schemes to manipulate the system to get what he wants, to the Nurse sabotaging his friends opinions
of him in order to gain the upper hand, this superiority struggle has a definite winner at the end of the
novel: McMurphy. McMurphy wins this battle with the Nurse because although he died at the end, he
still overcomes and finds ways to manipulate Nurse Ratched s harsh rules and regulations throughout
the book, and leaves an effect on Ratched and the ward that proves the influence and power he had
over all of them.
The first instance of McMurphy s winning streak was by getting his way and overcoming Nurse
Ratched s rulings and regulations. One instance is when McMurphy comes up with the idea of using
the tub room as a second day room and uses Dr. Spivey to help him. Quote:

Kamehameha V did to show his people that he was willing to learn from other kings to see what he
should do for his people. Another thing that Lot did was raise the Sugar Industry. You might think of
that as bad but at the time people were getting destroyed by the incoming people so Kamehameha V
helped to bring up the sugar industry to help them bring in goods from other parts of the world. But
the biggest way he helped his people was by sending people with leprosy to the island of Molokai. He
saved a lot of Hawaiian lives by sending only the sick to Molokai. This was extremely smart because
Hawaiians were not adapted to the new diseases that the foreigners brought. His one idea is still used
today, people with leprosy go to Molokai to get treatment or to help people that have

21. Robert Witt and the Pacific Theatre
In the Pacific Theatre during World War II, the Japanese created a sneak invasion against the United
States, which blindsided and obliterated one third of the US army. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the
US military decided to counter attack at the island of Guadalcanal, making this battle a turning point
in the war. Many American soldiers lived in a world where their lives could be over in a matter of
seconds. Most of us are not able to comprehend the mental state of the soldiers during battle. In the
novel The Thin Red Line by James Jones, Private Robert Witt, the protagonist, experiences war for the
first time. Throughout the novel, he sees and does many things which drastically change him
emotionally and physically. The settings of the naval ship at sea, the island of Guadalcanal, and his
home in New Guinea have a different effect on the character development of Private Witt. First of all,
the experiences Witt receives on the naval ship, affects his character development. Witt never dreamt
of participating in a war to fight in a constant battle of life or death. In the past, Witt enlisted into the
US army with hopes of helping his village financially back in Melanesia. At the time, Witt was too
afraid and not mentally prepared for the experiences he would face. As a result Witt went AWOL
(Jones 107) and left for his home village in Melanesia. Three years later, he makes the choice of going
to back to the army, yet he is immediately placed into the war battlefront.

22. Stateless Minority People Of The Rohingya
Executive Summary
The Rohingya are the stateless minority people of Myanmar and have been residing there for a long
time. They have deprived citizenship as Myanmar government consider them as illegal immigrants. So
they are being deprived of many of the basic rights and being tortured for a long time but the recent
Ethnic Cleansing mission of the Myanmar government has severely destroyed the Rohingya and
forced them to leave the country.
Who are the Rohingya people?
The Rohingya are the minority people of Myanmar residing in the Rakhine state of the country. They
are the world s most harassed minority. Majority of the ethnic group are Muslim while some of them
are Hindu, who lived in Myanmar for centuries. They have been denied citizenship since 1982 in the
Buddhist Southeast Asian country. There are 135 official ethnic groups in Myanmar but the Rohingyas
are not considered among them. Most of the Rohingya people live in the Western coastal state of
Rakhine and are not allowed to leave without permission from the government. Though they have
been living there for quite a long time they are deprived of the basic services and opportunities of the
country.
Origin
According to some authentic sources, Rohingyas have lived in Myanmar since as early as 8th century.
The Rohingyas say that they are the successors of Persian Arab Muslim traders, who came to the
country generations ago. During the British rule from 1824 to 1948, migration took place to present

23. Person Centred Care
According to Bob Price, a nurse academic writing for the Nursing Standard in
2006, the term person centred care is used...to indicate a strong interest in the
patient s own experience of health, illness, injury or need. It infers that the nurse
works with the person s definition of the situation, as well as that presented through a
medical or other diagnosis . (pg. 49 56)
The notion of person centeredness has become well recognized within healthcare
and especially within Nursing (Binnie Tichen 1999, McCormack 2001,2003).
Person Centeredness is also ingrained in many policy initiatives within the UK (eg.
The National Service Framework for Older People, Department of Health 2001).

However it is suggested that
nurse patient communication is slightly different; nurse patient communication also
involves the transfer of feelings, recognizing these feelings and letting the patient
know that their feelings have be recognized (Sheppard 1993).
Communication both verbal and non verbal can have an effect on clients and the
relationship which they form with their nurse. Communication can either facilitate
the development of a relationship or create barriers (Stuart and Laraia, 2001). There
are many different forms of communication which nurses can use to help implement
person centred care such as verbal communication, non verbal communication,
attending behaviour and empathetic behaviour; Within this essay I will explore some
24. of these methods of communication, the effect they will have on a patient and person
centred care and ways in which a nurse could implement these methods in a clinical
setting.
Verbal communication is essential when dealing with a patient; studies revealed
that many patients feel reassured when nurses use a personal approach whilst
communicating and also feel that it is important for nurses to talk to patients as
individuals. In order to promote care which is person centred nurses must also
refrain from making any assumptions about the patients care or needs (McCabe

Then, we have internal users of accounting information, such as employees and the various types of
managers (i.e., purchasing managers and marketing managers). Accurate accounting is extremely
crucial to these individuals who make important financial and business decisions within an
organization that directly affect the business itself (Wild, Larson amp; Chiapetta, 2007, p. 6). A
company, aims to sell goods and services to customers at prices that will provide an adequate return to
its owners (Kanter amp; Pressley, n.d., Slide 1 13). A business must maintain an adequate level of
profitability and liquidity to continue operating (Kanter amp; Pressley, n.d., Slide 1 14). However,
without accounting information, this is not possible. A firm s management needs this information to
properly conduct daily activities within the business, such as finance the company, invest its resources,
produce its goods and/or services, market those goods and/or services, and manage the employees
(Kanter amp; Pressley, n.d., Slide 1 29). However, accounting information is just as critical for internal
users when they make decisions that will affect the

27. Transportation and How it Affects Logistics
Transportation is one of the largest industry in the world. It is the most costly and time consuming of
the supply chain. Transportation refers to the movement of a product from one destination to another.
This process begins from the supply chain to the consumer, for as we know that products are rarely
produced in the same location. We as people depend on transportation. Because it moves our goods
and it moves us as a people from one place to another.
Transportation is a key element in the logistic chain. It joins together those components that are
considered to be separated. In order for transportation and logistics to work together successfully there
must be good management between them. It plays a major role in connecting it all together. Supply
chain management is defined as a continuously evolving management philosophy that seeks to unify
the collective productive competencies and resources of the business functions found both within the
enterprise and outside in the firm s allied business partners located along intersecting supply channels
into highly competitive, customer enriching supply system focused on developing innovative solutions
and synchronizing the flow of marketplace products, services, and information to create unique,
individualized sources of customer value (Ross, 1998).
SCM can be divided into three main groups: purchase, manufacture, and transport (Thomas et al.,
1996). The focus is on transportation. There are different modes of transportation.

28. How Does Sandburg Use Personification In The Divine Grass
The Divine Grass: Personification, Allusions, and Free in Grass by Carl Sandburg A great Italian poet
named Dante Alighieri once said, Nature is the art of God. Nature has dominated earth since the very
beginning. When all perishes, nature still remains. This is seen in the poem called Grass by Carl
Sandburg which is a free verse poem that emphasizes war and the immortality of nature. Throughout,
the entire poem, the speaker remains unsympathetic towards the deaths caused by humanity because it
is a constant cycle. Sandburg uses personification, allusions, and free verse with an emphasis on the
imperative tense to express nature as a divine being, covering up the casualties of human intervention.
To demonstrate how insignificant humans are when compared to nature, Carl Sandburg used
personification in order to make grass the speaker of the poem. In the poem, Grass appears to be a
force of intelligence and labor. The speaker states, I am grass. I cover all (Sandburg 3). It is important
to note that the poem is in first person because it makes the audience aware that they are in the
perspective of a being other than themselves. Grass does not have its own thoughts, but the poet gave

At the time, World War I was believed to be the war that ends all wars. Ironically, this did not happen
because World War II immediately followed. This shows as time passes, the grass will cover it all,
leaving nothing behind for people to remember. Nature covers the scars of the past with beautiful
landscapes, but there will always be the forgotten bodies beneath. Humans will eventually be

29. Kantian Animal Rights
Mohandas Gandhi once expressed, The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by
the way its animals are treated . Gandhi touches upon the subject of animal rights and how humans
must be judged by the way animals are treated. This brings up many questions about animal rights
such as what are the moral obligations humans have, if we have them, towards animals. And if we
have these moral obligations towards animals, what are the implications of these obligations for
humans? Observing animals rights from the viewpoints of a utilitarian such as Peter Singer, an Animal
Rights Philosophy Specialist Tom Regan, and English Philosopher Roger Scruton, allows us to be able
to fully develop and discuss the complexities of animal rights. ... Show more content on

He argues that marginal humans such as human vegetables deserve greater moral consideration than
animals. He says that abnormality does not cancel membership. we have duties to animals but only
because they are dependent and affected by us. Animals are not persons and neither deserve rights nor
duties. Persons can engage in practical reasoning, in moral discussion and in respect for duties.
Animals cannot and therefore do not get the rights nor duties. Moreover, attempting to extend rights to
animals is actually harmful for them because then they would be obligated and duty bound to
responsibilities they cannot be upheld to. Although animals do not have rights, we humans do have
obligations to them. Suffering is a necessary part of life justifying animals suffering being essential for
human needs to be met. We have stronger duties to animals who are dependent on us like our pets.
Also, once we somehow interfere with or alter an animal s life, we owe more duties to these animals
out of mere charity showing an inequality of treatment to animals. Scruton classes marginal cases that
was briefly mentioned in Regan s argument as pre moral, post moral, and nonmoral. Pre moral are
infants that have the potential to be moral beings. Post moral are people who are considered senile or
brain damaged meaning they no longer have the capacity to be moral. And non moral are congenital

The Apollo 11 mission of 1969 marks the biggest leap in technological advancements for humanity.
Neil Armstrong is seen taking the first steps on the moon forever making his mark in humanity.
However, theories surrounding the moon landing have come to light. Conspiracy theorists say NASA,
the National Aeronautics Space Administration, have faked the Apollo 11 moon landing. Yet, present
evidence can support the authenticity of the moon landing. Evidence such as photos, rock samples,
technology, and computer monitoring support the moon landing. The moon landing of 1969 did
happen. One of the key pieces of evidence of the moon landing is photo evidence. Numerous photos
as well as video have been released and seen by the public. One of the most famous photos is the
deployment of the United States flag on the lunar surface that appears to be rippling. Some theories
will conclude that there s no wind in space so the flag could not have been waving. However, Dr.
Phillips of NASA s Science and Space Directorate, states, Not every waving flag needs a breeze at
least not in space. Neil Armstrong along with Buzz Aldrin can be seen in video footage twisting the
flag to plant it deeper in the lunar soil. This motion causes the flag to appear rippling. Dr. Phillips also
says, Unfurling a piece of rolled up cloth with stored angular momentum will naturally result in waves

There was one moment in the book where she had to make probably one of the most difficult choices

Welch to take care of a woman s two toddlers in Iowa for the summer. Instead, she insisted that the
woman, Mrs. Sanders, should take Lori and her payment be a bus ticket to New York City. The fact
that Jeannette easily made the decision of sacrificing her ticket for Lori amazes me; she knew how
important the trip the New York was for her, so she wanted to make that dream happen. When Lori
left, Jeannette still did not give up on her dream to go to New York and become a journalist. She

Samuel Johnson s Influential Dictionary In order to provide a sufficient response to this intriguing
inquiry, one should acknowledge the influential milestones of the Early Modern English period
(c.1450 1750) that laid the groundwork for the emergence of Samuel Johnson s invaluable dictionary.
On the top of that list is the evolution of the English Renaissance which is often referred to as the
Elizabethan Era or the Age of Shakespeare after the most significant monarch and notable dramatist of
that memorable era. Another remarkable occurrence is the British exploration, colonization, and
overseas trade which hastened the English language s acquisition of loanwords. Furthermore, it is

which is worth mentioning in this paper is that Latin and French were the dominant languages of

where a more favorable view of it began to emerge. Notably, the tables were turned and English
became the universally authorized language of the regime and the prevailing academic disciplines
such as philosophy, medicine, law, and theology due to the fact that the role of the dominant languages
extremely declined. As a consequence, the most remarkable breakthrough occurred in the middle of
the 18th century which was the publication of Samuel Johnson s dictionary. Indeed, A Dictionary of
