Zero Tolerance For A Lack Of Maternity Leave Whenever we hear a story on the news of a
woman or her family struggling because they re being refused maternity leave it breaks our
hearts. These women, expecting mothers, have to carry or have carried a child for roughly 9
months. Most if not all have done so by being on their feet all day and have only had the required
minimum for breaks. Is it then wrong to ask for maternity leave? Should pregnant women not be
allowed some work accommodations? Well, contrary to popular belief, maternity leave is more
than just a time for a woman s gestation period or relaxation. In a country with a population of
more than 308 million women I think maternity should be a right. So, then who is to blame for
the lack of maternity leave? The answer: male bosses. It s thanks to these bosses that once
women are mothers, they have to go back to work as soon as possible. All these new mothers are
told by their male bosses that they are expected back as soon as they can. These men allow little
to no maternity leave for women in the work force. And I think we can all agree that this is a

Suicide causes, etiologies, and prevention strategies were examined in Mesa county of western
Colorado. The highest population at risk for completion of suicide within Mesa county and that
of the national average were found to be White males between the ages of 36 54 years of age. Risk
factors of suicide and demographics of this population were assessed and compared to the efficacy
of current suicideprograms utilized within Mesa county. Data was then compared from Mesa
county s demographics, suicide rates, and prevention programs to current literature and the District
of Columbia, which hosts the lowest suicide rate in the country. The juxtaposition of current
literature and the District of Columbia s suicide prevention programs to Mesa county s current

Abstract
The health benefits of red wine are well known and consumption has been encouraged more over
the years because of the populations increasing obesity rates and the inherent complications thereof;
including coronary heart disease and high blood pressure. Since the phenolic compounds in wine
combats these negative effects and originate from the grape itself the focus of this study was the
total phenolic content in red and white grape juice; measured in gallic acid equivalents ... Show
The concentrations of total phenolic compounds are written in Gallic Acid Equivalents (GAE) in
units of milligrams of gallic acid per 100 milliliters of juice. Educational institutes frown upon
buying students alcohol, even for scientific purposes, so white and red grape juices were used in
this experiment rather than wine to determine the total phenolic content by visible
spectrophotometery.
Objective
The overall objective of this experiment is to measure the total phenolics content in grape juice
using a standard curve to find the sample s phenolic concentration in milligrams of gallic acid
equivalent for every 100 milliliters of juice.
Materials and Methods
This experiment used the Gilson pipetman Neo, Genesys 20 spectrophotometer, Folin Ciocalteu s
phenol reagent, saturated Na2CO3 solution as well as the requisite test tubes, volumetric flasks,
analytical scale and graduated cylinder necessary to obtain accurate results. The first step required
the preparation of the gallic acid stock solution. This was made by quantitatively transferring 80
milligrams of gallic acid into a 250 mL volumetric flask, dissolving it into solution by using 50 mL
methanol, bringing it up to volume with deionized water and mixing the solution vigorously. The
final concentration of the stock solution should be approximately 320 Вµg/mL, depending on the

The film s origin is as a stage play by Reginald Rose, who also adapted it for television, before
teaming up with Fonda to bringing this powerful story to the big screen (eds Higgins Ross 2008, p.
