Team Feedback Seeking Behavior ( Fsb )
Team Feedback seeking Behavior Feedback seeking behavior (FSB) refers to individuals search for
evaluative information about their performance, internal processes and other behaviors for attaining
valued goals (Crommelinck Anseel, 2013; De Stobbeleir, Ashford, Buyens, 2011). FSB is one of the
proactive behaviors whereby individuals preemptively seek for feedback either by directly asking or
indirectly observing cues in the environment to infer from them (Ashford, De Stobbeleir, Nujella,
2016). Accordingly, team FSB can be defined as team members collective search for evaluative
information about the behavior and performance of individual teammates and the team as a whole (De
Stobbeleir et al., 2011; Robison Weldon, 1993). Intrateam feedback involves team members providing
information about other teammates performance and/or asking input or guidance about their own
performance (Dickinson McIntyre, 1997). Team FSB constitutes goal oriented behavior where team
members aim to improve their chances of attaining their valued objectives, such as skill development,
improved performance, citizenship behavior, or creativity (Ashford et al., 2016; Crommelinck Anseel,
2013). Thus, contrary to the traditional belief that depicts feedback seeking as a strategy to conform to
the requirements of the environment (Parker Collins, 2010), here feedback seeking is used as an
individual and/or a team resource that can help individuals and teams to achieve a variety of outcomes

Where Is The Narrator In The Cask Of Amontillado
The narration is shifted from first to second person and back to first person in the beginnings of
different novels in alternate chapters, and sometimes to third person. The author forces us, the readers,
to take on the role of the Reader that makes me the main character of the story. The story unfolds more
truths about myself and how I behave when I m about to read a novel, which literally messes with my
brains by letting me believe that I m probably being watched as I read on. Calvino successfully kept
me confused and curious throughout with his clever narration. I thought about why he chose to narrate
in the way he does, and would he ever introduce himself. In chapter Without fear of wind or vertigo,
on page 84 the narrator introduces himself as Alex Zinnober; and in the chapter Looks down in the
gathering shadow, on page 107 he introduces his name as Ruedi the Swiss. The first name almost
convinced me that Alex is the common narrator and that he sees himself in all the novels he reads one
after the other. It was probably a farfetched and premature assumption I made, but it seemed valid
until later when the name Ruedi appears. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calvino challenges the notion of how a story is supposed to be told. I believe this novel teases upon
(or actually is) the genre of metafiction wherein there are many stories within one story. The
cliffhangers at the end of each novel reminded me of the episode The Closure Alternative in The Big
Bang Theory, where Amy helps Sheldon with his closure obsession by never finishing anything they
start. To ease this feeling, I really wish to see a winding up party at the end with all the characters
introduced so far, somehow ending up overlapping each

The Wife Of Martin Guerre
Two short novels The Wife of Martin Guerre by Janet Lewis and Good Country People by Flannery O
Conner have very different plots, however, many connections can be made between certain characters.
A strong example of this would be Arnaud (posing as Martin), and Manley, two antagonists from each
of the novels listed above, respectively. In Janet Lewis short novel The Wife of Martin Guerre the
main character Bertrande is taken on an emotional roller coaster as her husband Martin doesn t return
from a trip he promised would only be a week. Just as she is learning to embrace being the head of the
household and a single mother, a man claiming to be the Martin who left her eight long years ago
appears out of the blue, throwing her life and emotions into complete chaos. In Flannery O Conners
short story Good Country People a woman named Hulga, who is unpleasant to the majority of people,
is seduced by a young man, claiming to be nothing more than a simple country boy selling bibles.
Later in these short stories, it is revealed that both of these men are not who they claim to be, and their
lies caused rather dreadful repercussions. These two antagonists delude Hulga and Bertrande in their
respective stories by enticing them with desirable amounts of knowledge and causing them to lose
perception of reality by using manipulation throughout the entire plot. The amount of knowledge these
two antagonists allowed to show was a major part in how they deceived the protagonists. In

Morality and Character of King Henry V Essay examples
Morality of King Henry V Throughout the five act in the play King Henry the V, King Henry shows
his morality and character through many actions and decisions. King Henry is the most significant
characte1r in the play and is known as the protagonist or hero. Henry uses his intelligence and
leadership qualities through out the acts and also displays a sense of maturity from his youth days. We
are told in the beginning of the play that King Henry used to be very immature, crazy, and not
determined as a teenage boy. King Henry is now developed into a successful and hard working king
with lots of charisma. Henry has many tough decisions ahead and uses his brilliant mind to do
whatever he needs to do to receive the goal. King Henry displays ... Show more content on

As we read in the play, King Henry has many speeches that were made to determine his English
soldiers. For example, Henry refers to his soldiers as more closely impacted names like brother and
friend. Henry speaks very sophisticated and pumps up his men to be just as eager to fight as he was.
Most of Henry s speeches were uplifting and had a very happy and fierce tone to them, so not only he
would display seriousness and also uplifting attitudes. Henry s speeches work magic on his soldiers
and is a type of manipulation to work with the King to get what he wants. Even though manipulation
is usually a harsh term, it is needed when it comes to fighting in a war! King Henry used his words
very intelligently to push on the soldiers to fight for their mighty King Henry. One of the last qualities
about King Henry that supports his morality was his intelligence. Through out the play King Henry
had many big decisions whether it be to go to war, who to bring, when to go, and all these other
conflicts. I believe that Henry used his intelligence in many positive ways. When King Henry was
about to bring his troops in to fight France, he borrowed a cloak and dressed up as a soldier. I thought
this was a very intelligent thing to do because he talked to the soldiers to find out what they were
thinking and what was going through their mind. This was a very smart strategy because normally the
soldiers wouldn t speak to the king like they would to each other. Instead of the lies and

The Great Depression And Harsh Weather Conditions During...
The United States experienced both the Great Depression and harsh weather conditions during the
1930 s causing Americans to suffer through extreme hardship and impoverishment. Many of the
migrant farmers were bankrupt, destitute, and struggled to survive. Photographer and photojournalist,
Dorothea Lange, captured the dangerous conditions migrant workers and their families endured
through her photograph, Migrant Mother. The photograph not only displays a woman and children
suffering, but also reveals the determination and willpower the woman had to provide for her family.
When initially looking at the iconic black and white photo, one sees a woman and two children. After
closely examining the image, one sees the third child, an infant, being held by the woman. The woman
is not looking directly at the camera, but the audience is able to see her gaze. The woman s eyebrows
are furrowed causing her face to appear as worried with a look of desperation. Looking more
meticulously at the woman, one will notice that she has a slight frown. The woman is able to show her
stress by using her right hand to pull down slightly on her face. Aside from the woman, there are three
children in the photograph. Two of the children are facing away from the camera with their heads
rested on the woman s shoulder. The third child is an infant who seems to be sleeping while this
photograph was taken. The woman and children in the photo are migrants that are trying to survive the

Analysis Of The Poem Hello, Morgana
Hello, Morgana. A few hours before dawn, Arthur received word that Morgana was stirring, the last
dose of belladonna finally wearing off. He wanted to be there when she woke, when she discovered
where she was, to tell her himself what awaited her. A spiked bracelet engraved with archaic runes was
now clasped on her forearm and locked by blood. His blood, and only he could release her from its
bonds. Morgana sat on the cot, her head buried in her hands, wild hair spilling down her arms. She
raised her head at his final approach on the other side of her cell bars with a group of faces known and
unknown to her. Bloodshot eyes, haunted and confused, met his before the moment passed and the
coldness returned upon recognition. She pulled herself to her feet with as much grace as her weakness
would allow, slightly swaying in the balancing of her stance. I knew you had it in you, Arthur, she said
with sarcastic pride, coming to stand before the rods of iron separating her from freedom. Uther would
be proud of you. She presented her arm to him, tracks of crimson seeping from under the silver band,
her lips twitching to force a crooked smile. The Hades Lock. Ancients told that no matter how
powerful you were, once Hades put his hold on you, there was no escape from his realm unless he
allowed it. I assume your blood sealed it. Arthur crossed his arms and nodded once, determined not to
rise to the bait she dangled verbally in front of him. It had been like this between them

Puerto Rican culture, like most cultures today, can be difficult to fit into a perfect descriptive box due
to a rich heritage and history full of cultural and racial mixing that make up Its people. Taino Indians,
Spanish settlers, African slaves, various immigrants, and eventually Americans, after they acquired the

Theme Of Death On The Nile, And Then There Were None
In her novels Death on the Nile and And Then There Were None Agatha Christie uses foreshadowing
and both external and internal conflict to portray the theme of her novel, the idea that justice will
always triumph. In Death on the Nile Poiret undertakes the position of bringing about what s due to
the guilty character. At the same time in And Then There Were None the protagonist is unclear
because while Justice Wargrave is the one seeking justice, his methods are flawed. Agatha Christie
uses mystery in both of her books to emphasize how the truth will come out in the end. This is clearly
shown in Death on The Nile where the outcome is clear cut while And Then There Were None is
undefined and elusive. Although both books use morbid and unethical methods of showing their
objective, both stress their point and Agatha Christie s opinion on ... Show more content on

the men of action in Christie s novels. First and foremost are their methods of achieving their goal,
justice. While Poiret uses an honest and moral approach, Wargrave accomplishes his objective using
gruesome and inhumane methods. While there are many variations between the two characters their
personalities are somewhat the same. Both are meticulous, shrewd, and a good at pretending, so no

Texas, United States of America adebola.akeredolu@mavs.uta.edu Abstract In the world we live in
today, there is an ever growing need for robotic manipulators. These needs cut across all areas of life
ranging from healthcare to automated assembly. In order to meet these various applications, there is a
need for custom designs and continuous improvement on existing designs to meet job requirements
and customer satisfaction. This report involves the design and simulation of a virtual manipulator for
manufacturing processes. The goal for this virtual manipulator is to allow quick testing and
implementation without having to build a physical robot. It saves time and cost, it also helps the
designer to see flaws in his design without wasting so much time and funds.
INTRODUCTION
The desire for automated manufacturing has been prevalent for well over the past century but it is yet
to be fully accepted into the industry almost entirely due to the high associated costs. Automated
manufacturing processes in the past have required expensive and robust machinery

Examples Of Rite Of Passage In Greasy Lake
Rite of Passage
Greasy Lake by T.C. Boyle is a tale of one young man s quest for the rich scent of possibility on the
breeze. It was a time in a man s life when there was an almost palpable sense of destiny, as if
something was about to happen, like a rite of passage that will thrust him into adulthood or cement his
badness forever. The story opens with our narrator on a night of debauchery with his friends drinking,
eating, and cruising the streets as he had done so many times in the past. What he found on that night
of violence and mayhem would force him to look at himself hard. This is a story of one man s journey
from boyhood to maturity.
The story is short and relies on a simple plot, involving violence and a series of ... Show more content

Not only is he beaten, but now his mother s car is beaten too. As he turns his attention back to the
thing bobbing in the water he grasps the fact that he is probably better off, Then I thought of the dead
man. He was probably the only person on the planet worse off than I was. (149)
The tension this young man feels comes from his internal struggle to come to terms with what he is
and what he is destined to become. The emphasis on his badness suggests that he is insecure in
himself. The thorough thrashing he receives from Greasy Character is representational of the lack of
control he has over his life. A truly bad man with greasy jeans has come to teach him there are
consequences for the things he does.
The narrator is both protagonist and antagonist because the main conflict is an internal one. The bad
greasy character is flat and stereotypical as a dense, bad dude looking for trouble with his fists. The
supporting characters, Digby, Jeff, and the girlfriend of Greasy Character are flat and static as are the
two blonds and the hot rodder who arrived like a knight in shiny Trans Am. All that s left are the party
girls and, of course, Al, the dead guy in the lake. While these characters are all flat and static they still
contribute to the action and atmosphere of the story. All the characters are typical except for the
narrator who is round, developed and dynamic. He changes from a 19 year old boy to the older, wiser

Henri Matisse s The Red Studio
Henri Matisse s The Red Studio was created in 1911. The painting depicts an art studio with works
everywhere hanging on the walls, and on the floor. There are potted plants and sculptures on the tables
and the room is mostly red. This 5′ 4″ x 4′ 3″ painting was obviously well named. Red is not the only
color, there are hints of blue, yellow, orange, black, green, and pink worked into the painting.
Everything in the painting is still. There is no action and no movement, just the still shot of the studio
filled with art supplies, paintings, sculptures, furniture, and plants. The majority of the shapes are
square or rectangle. It is very linear with very little curved shapes. This brightly colored painting does
not have a ton of dimension.

ur in the forearm region. It is composed in crosses of axons which may produce changes in the
innervations of the upper limb muscles, mainly motor part of intrinsic muscles in the hand
(MANNERFELT, 1966; KIMURA, MURPHY and VARDA, 1976). Anastomosis in which the branch
anastomotic originates proximally in the median nerve and unites distally in the ulnar nerve is known
as Median
Ulnar anastomosis type or Martin Gruber anastomosis.
Martin, a Swedish anatomist, in 1763 was the first one to consider the possibility of connection
between the fascicles of the median and ulnar nerves in the forearm (MARTIN,
1763). In the following century, in 1870, Gruber dissected

It can arise between the branches destined to the deep flexor muscle of the fingers, or directly in the
median to the ulnar nerve, or between the anterior interosseous and ulnar nerves or in combinations
between these types of anastomoses
(NAKASHIMA, 1993).
However, another type of anastomosis can happen in the forearm. When the anastomotic branch
originates proximally in ulnar nerve and unites distally to median nerve is simply called anastomosis
of Median Ulnar type, or Martin Gruber reverse anastomosis or Marinacci anastomosis. Marinacci in
1964 made a case report of a patient who traumatized the medium nerve in forearm, but still had
preservation of the median nerve innervations in the hand muscles, although had denervation of the
flexor muscles in forearm (MARINACCI,
1964). The Marinacci anastomosis is infrequently notified.
In some studies this type of anastomosis had not been found, being considered for many authors as
anatomical anomaly.
The occurrence of the Martin Gruber or Marinacci anastomoses can be understand by the fact that the
median and ulnar nerves were developed from a similar embryonic region (ALMEIDA, VITTI and
GARBINO,
1999). In addition, there are studies with high incidence

Lord Of The Flies Jack Is A Leader Analysis
A powerful leader is one who knows how to lead with control and has strong leader characteristics. In
the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, some readers support the fact that Jack was a better
leader than Ralph, but others feel that Ralph was the better leader. Although several supporters feel
that Ralph is the best leader, it is evident that Jack is the better leader since he can effortlessly control
the group on the island.
It is clear that Jack is a better leader than Ralph because he is more of a demanding, manipulative
person. From the time the boys landed on the island, Jack was in control of the choir. The other boys,
led by Jack, run off in disorganized excitement to light the signal fire (Reilly, 3). This quote shows that
the boys followed in Jack s footsteps since they set foot on the island. Along with controlling the
choir, Jack challenged Ralph s opinions. We do not need the conch anymore. We know who ought to
say things (Reilly, 4). This quote demonstrates that Jack is making an attempt to control the group by
doing what is best for him, and he demands that the boys support his decisions. In addition, Jack s
main priority was to hunt and give them what they want. The point is that Jack is doing what he wants,
not what he ought (Reilly, 5). This quote illustrates that Jack is aware that he is the leader of the group,
for he is doing what he wants and not what he has to. Clearly, it is evident that Jack is the best choice

Using the target costing module, the cost of a hydrostatic testing unit was calculated as E1.799,26.
With a mark up of 20%, the unit selling price of the Company totalled up approximately E2.160,00,
more than the price of the domestic producer.
Step 3: Target Costing
According to customer survey results, the selling price was calculated to be E1.803,75 per testing unit
and it was decided to set a market price for testing unit that was 7.5%, but which included a 20%
profit for the company.
Step 4: Cost breakdown on cost drivers and Step 5: target costing through product design.
After determining a target cost, according to customer feedbacks, company s different teams work
together to reduce cost to target cost. After considering QFD analysis and main cost drivers, the
production team listed the following additional components illustrated in Table 1.
The optimal product was designed by keeping the balance of the survival tripod. In Table 2, the items
and the costs of the new design are given. The new design of the product resulted in a total cost of
E1.490,29 per unit.
Step 6: Continuous improvement.
Regardless of whether a target cost is achieved, efforts for continuous improvement should be
provided to maintain the profitability and market position of the product.

Summary Of Bridget Quinn sBroad Strokes
In the reading, Broad Strokes by Bridget Quinn, she emphasizes on the great artists who have made art
history. Each one of the six artists had lived an artistic life. The Artist, Bourgeois, was a French
American who was born In Paris on Christmas day of 1911 and was named after her father (Louis
Bourgeois). Most of her childhood she spent with her mother to help attend to her health. By the age
of ten, she began to draw missing parts of tapestries, and also became an expert in drawing feet and
legs. Bourgeois decided to paint a portrait of a penis in 1968. She called it the Fillette which meant
little girl. Her instructor Fernand Leger had told her you are not a painter. You are a sculptor (pg 129).
So she had decided to give up painting and try sculpting. Her first sculptures were made out of balsa
wood that were tall and abstract, that she would call her personages . Mendieta and Bourgeois had
several things in common. They both were sculptors and they both lost someone that was dear to their
heart. One mother died of a tumor, and the other lost her mother. Mendieta was married to a sculptor
named Carl Andre. She then decided to make sculptures in the landscape, because she no longer had a
motherland that she could turn to. She decided to join with Earth, it helped her feel a closer connection
to her womb. Mendieta made portraits of volcanoes, which implied sex, creation, and vaginal

A Comparison Of I Am Legend And There Will Come Soft Rain
American journalist and author James Thurber once said, Man is flying too fast for a world that is
round. Soon he will catch up with himself in a great rear end collision. In both the film I Am
Legend(2007) and Ray Bradbury s The Martian Chronicles the world has come to an end due to the
destruction caused by mankind. In I Am Legend, Earth has been destroyed and mankind has been
wiped out to extinction by a deadly man made virus that was meant to cure cancer. Only one person is
immune to the virus and is alive; Robert Neville. Robert has to fight his way through the infected and
come up with a cure for the virus. The Martian Chronicles short story There Will Come Soft Rains
depicts a house that is fully functioning (ex. Making breakfast, ... Show more content on

As shown in There Will Come Soft Rains , annihilations includes the obliteration of nature and our
surroundings. To convey this message to the readers, Ray Bradbury makes a strategic use of the
narrative elements: setting and figurative language. As the story begins, we learn that the house stood
alone in a city of rubble and ashes. This was the one house left standing. At night the ruined city gave
off a radioactive glow which could be seen for miles (Bradbury 167). From the start, we begin to see
that everything in the vicinity of a town on Earth is destroyed except this damaged house still
managing to function properly. Through the description of the setting, the readers start to get an idea
of what it would be like if the world is destroyed by a radioactive bomb. On top of the house already
been destroyed, we read that a falling tree bough crashed through the kitchen window. Cleaning
solvent, bottled, shattered over the stove. The room was ablaze in an instant! (Bradbury 170). This
instant clearly depicts the idea of the obliteration of nature and subsequently the obliteration of already
destroyed mankind due to hatred and

Strength And Strength Of Muscular Endurance
Strength Muscular strength is much different from muscular endurance. Strength is the extent to how
much force your muscles can use and apply. Strength concentrates more on quick and short spurts of
energy. An example of how this component of fitness can be tested in an assessment is in the Upper
body push and pull strength test . For this test the equipment used is a Strength Meter dynamometer.
You have three tries when doing this test and the best of three is recorded for each test (the push and
then the pull) and the dynamometer must be set to zero each time. This assessment works by the
person taking the test having the Strength Meter dynamometer placed over their shoulders where the
handles are placed at the front of the body around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The participants must continuously run between two cones or lines which are set up 20 metres apart
between two recorded beeps. The CD had all the instructions on and will tell the participants when to
start; the first level is a slight jog and gradually gets quicker up through the levels. If you reach one of
the lines before the beep has sounded then you must wait for it to sound before you start running
again. Before you drop out you have to miss three consecutive beeps (one after another). Speed Speed
is the skill to move with a quick pace or move parts of the body quickly. When you think about speed
you usually think its how fast someone can run but it s not just that, as it s also to do with their
acceleration, maximal speed of movement and speed maintenance. This is because speed needs other
components to help it move along in a rapid way, which includes: strength and power. An example of
how this component of fitness can be tested in an assessment is the 100m Swim Time Trial . This test
is used to measure the participant s ability to sprint swim a given distance, in this case 100m in a
timed environment. This is often used for athletes to practise for when they are doing triathlons. More
than one participant can take part at one time and the pool should ideally be 50 metres but any pool
will do as long as the distance that the participant completes is 100

Rousseau s Views On Private Property
Henri Aleksi Vanhanen Midterm Exam 11.6.2015 PART A 1. The quote was made by Jean Jacques
Rousseau (1712 1778) in his creation On Social Contract (1762) (Rousseau, Social Contract, 4).
Rousseau s discourse on private property can be understood as a response to John Locke s theories
regarding property and especially to Locke s labor theory and the government s role in it (assumption
based on the similarity of their discourse). According to Locke s labor theory, a man s labor defines
his right to own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 16) and that one of the government s
top priorities is to guarantee inheritance of private property for those who have and own something
(Locke, Second Treatise Government, 37). The theory also contains the aspect that one can own
something if he improves it (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 15). In the concept of the society
and government s duties Locke and Rousseau have different ideas. Locke states that the most
important social contract is made between the people and that the government should not impose its
grip upon things that the people are capable of solving together themselves (Locke, Second Treatise
Government, 4). For Rousseau the state of nature is not a constant state of war (Rousseau, Social
Contract, 4). This explains why Rousseau says that war cannot arise from personal relations. Rousseau
s basic idea behind the quote is to state that the civilization s creation and idea of private property and
division of

Causes Of The Long Parliament
Long Parliament was called upon by Charles I, but technically Long Parliament created itself by
imposing an act that would only allow parliament to be dissolved by a parliamentary vote. Long
Parliament was being led by John Pym whose primary goal was to correct troubles in the kingdom,
especially acts of treason because of the recent Bishops War. When considering potential acts of
treason, it was speculated that Lord Strafford, who was a member of the King s Privy Council, had
treasonous intentions. After investigating the situation, Pym s accusations fell through, but it did come
to light that the King s Privy Council was encouraging Charles I to act without parliament.
Specifically, Lord Strafford told the king Sir, you have now done your duty, and your subjects have
failed theirs; and therefore, you are absolved from the rules of government... you have an army in
Ireland, with which you may reduce this kingdom. Charles I was being encouraged to use Irish forces
to remove parliament, in order to restore his power. This began the dispute between Long Parliament
and Charles I, over who controlled the military, that began the English Civil war. Long Parliament
implemented the Militia Ordinance, which declared that parliament was responsible for appointing
new officers instead of the king.
By the time Sir William Waller wrote to parliament Charles I and Long Parliament were deeper into
war, and the Parliamentarians were quickly losing because of their militia system. Sir

The Priest Walchelin And The Hellequin s Hunt
While Phaedrus, the Bhagavad Gita, Epicurus Letters to Menoeceus, and the story of The Priest
Walchelin and the Hellequin s Hunt all offer slightly different theories on what happens after death,
they all agree that the death of the body is inevitable. However, the texts fail to give explicit
instruction on how mortals should best live their life so as to be best situated for existence after death.
Identifying how the texts instruct people to live life in a way that s meaningful despite its temporary
nature will help identify methods for benefitting humanity and thus retroactively reveal our
shortcomings. According to these texts, the only way to live a meaningful life is to focus on the
betterment of the soul. Because the soul will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Given that the soul outlives its host body, it must have somewhere to go once the body dies. The
uncertainty of where the soul goes after death is the greatest source of fear for mortals. Whether the
soul goes to a new body or to a place of divine reward or punishment, these texts reveal a change of
scenery for souls. While many would like to believe that if they follow a generally moral path they ll
be rewarded after they die, The Priest Walchelin and the Hellequin s Hunt challenges that idea. In this
story, a member of the living is shocked to see many highly regarded figures who... should have gone
straight to join the saints in heaven (Joynes 50) roaming the earth as punishment for sins of which the
public was unaware. Through this story it becomes apparent that previous modes of judging whether
one will be rewarded after death aren t reliable. This unexpected outcome is a source of terror and
apprehension for many other seemingly qualified men, such as Prince Arjuna in The Bhagavad Gita .
In the Gita, Arjuna vehemently protests killing any of his kin because hell is waiting for those whose
familiar rituals of righteousness are no more (The Bhagavad Gita 47). Prior to his moment of
weakness at the beginning of the text, Arjuna had been a heroic warrior (The Bhagavad Gita 43) and
loyal follower of Krishna, but

Fairy Legends Essay
Fairy legends have been around from time immemorial in Ireland and several other countries. These
legends have been an important part of Irish life and culture. A legend, in contrast to folklore, is meant
to inform and reinforce beliefs. Legends are less about fiction and the unbelievable, and more about
the ordinary. The fairy legends in Ireland are abundant, as there are many different tales that describe
fairies and their habits distinctly. A large portion of these legends have been told orally, so
documenting them is difficult. In modern films and stories, such as Disney, fairies are generally
portrayed as being kind and helpful to humans, but according to Irish legend, fairies are not always
benevolent creatures. The tales involving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes, fairies offer gifts to humans. In the tale, The Little Herd Girl and the Woman from Cnoc
Aine in Fairy Legends from Donegal, a little girl is lured off by a fairy woman playing the harp and
into a fine castle. She has some bread and is sent off back home. Prior to leaving, she is given a coin to
give to her widowed mother. It is said that from then onward, her mother was never wanting for
money for the rest of her life. In another story called The Three Sneezes from the same source, a wife
is almost taken by fairies at her wedding, but a man blessed her and she was safe aside from becoming
deaf and dumb. When the same man later walked by a couple of fairies, he heard them tell him of a
cure for the woman s deafness and dumbness. He found the herb, and the woman was cured and well
once again. These tales might have been to give hope to those that were impoverished or ill. The good
fortune given by fairies in these legends are reflective of human desire. Common themes of these
types of legends include endless fortune, magical powers, particularly bountiful harvest or healthy
livestock, and goods supplied mysteriously. However, although some dealings with fairies might lead
to good fortune or health, some people chose to avoid these dealings due to the fact that fairies can be
manipulative. Fairy gifts can be extraordinary, but taken away if the receiver does wrong by the fairies
or breaks an agreement. One unfortunate tale of an Irish piper details this. The Irish piper overheard a
beautiful fairy song, and was given the gift of playing the melody by this fairy. However, the fairy told
him that he was only allowed to play it three times before a live audience. The piper obeyed the fairy s
rule, until one night during a competition, he played the melody a fourth time in order to win. The
instant he was crowned, he fell dead on the stage because of his

Changes to Knighthood throughout the Years
Throughout the years knighthood has changed depending on what the people need and expect during
that time period. They also vary on their manners, duties, ages, and skills. Kids start training since the
age of seven, especially if they want to be in the arms profession. Start out by serving their fathers,
around the age of 12, they then move onto serving the house receiving more advanced instructions in
military subjects and morals. The original medieval nights were originally servants who kept their
lords lands after they served in their lords armies. With time christian values were added to
knighthood involving respect for the church, protection of the poor and the weak, loyalty to one s
feudal or military superiors, and preservation of personal honour (Knight 3). These became known as
the knights orders they followed to achieve greatness.
The first recognized group of knights evolved during the Crusades. There was several different groups
of them including the Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem, the Order of the Temple of Solomon, and
the Order of St. Lazarus. While they were all considered knights each group had a different task and
set of goals to accomplish. Not all of them fought in battles and saved princesses and kingdoms. For
example, the Order of St. Lazarus had the unique duty of protecting the leper hospitals. Knights served
more like the police officers and army of today combined under one category. The closest they became

Why Is Hmong Culture Important
Many cultures have certain traditions that are very important to them. For example, the Hmong culture
has a tradition about marriage. When a Hmong man wants to get married and start a family, he has to
ask two specific men called Mekoob , to go with him to his women s house and formally ask the
parents for their daughter s hand in marriage. They later talk about the wedding plan and the price for
everything. The husband and his family have to pay for all the expenses. There is also a tradition
called Noj Pebcaug . This is where the Hmong celebrate the New Year and ask our fore fathers for
good luck in the upcoming New Year. The Hmong are not the only ones that have certain traditions
that are important. The Jewish culture also has a tradition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Jewish culture has a tradition called a Bar and Bat mitzvah. This tradition is to signify that a boy
and a girl are old enough to be called a woman or a man. Also, this will give responsibility to the soon

their own actions. To take responsibility in what they do wrong and what they do right. This ceremony
usually start at the age of 13 for boys and the age of 12 for girls. Though, Bar and Bat mitzvahs are
celebrated young some choose to have the ceremony when they are adults, which has been growing in
popularity. Also, the Jewish wedding ceremony is an important tradition too. Before the wedding
ceremony, the groom agrees to be bound by the terms of the ketubah, or marriage contract. The
ketubah details the obligations of the groom to the bride, which are food, clothing and marital
relations. A traditional Jewish wedding ceremony takes place under wedding canopy, symbolizing the
new home being built by the couple when they become husband and wife. Some Jewish culture has a
custom to cover the face of the bride, followed by a prayer. The husband is then led under the wedding
canopy by the two fathers and the wife by the two mothers. After, the rings are the presented and then
the groom and bride puts them on for one another. Lastly, there is the breaking of the glass where he

10 Christmas Movies that Won t Turn you Into a Grinch or Scrooge
Hundreds of Christmas movies have been made since the invention of motion pictures and are still
being made to this day. There are only a few that are considered Classics . What I consider classics are
the movies that families pull out every year to watch during the Christmas season. If you prefer more
recently made movies, there are many great movies that made it onto my list from the 90s and 2000s.
These are some of my favorite holiday movies that I watched every year since I could understand the
English language and that I still thoroughly enjoy today.
#10 A Christmas Carol (2009) This Disney animated movie is the newest version of the 1938 movie, A
Christmas Carol. The famous actor, Jim Carrey, voices Ebenezer Scrooge. Disney did a perfect job of
following the original storyline with Scrooge, the three ghosts, and all the other actors. This very
exciting film is also very popular in 3D. Because this film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, it is a
fantastic remake of an old, loved, holiday classic, yet some people still prefer the 1984 version.
#9 A Christmas Carol (1984) This Christmas movie is a version of Charles Dickens s famous 1800s
play and book, A Christmas Carol. This movie is one of the most accurate movies based on the play
and book, and never gets boring, because it of the action with all the ghosts. Because of this, I
consider this movie to be the original version although I know it

This is known as a hard inquiry, and it usually knocks a few points from the credit score.
Bad credit reports can affect ones life in several negative ways. With a bad credit report and a low
credit score, it is harder to receive a credit card, an automobile loan, a mortgage, or possibly a job. It is
important that one is always aware of the credit decisions made. Paying bills late, maxing out credit
cards, and filling out too many credit applications in a brief period will also have a negative impact on
the credit report. To keep a good credit report, one should pay bills on time and apply for credit
sparingly. Last, but certainly not least, one should check their credit report annually! A free credit
report is available from each of the three credit reporting agencies each year. This is something one
should take advantage of since it will help them judge whether they are managing their credit wisely.
It is imperative that one keeps a good credit score. If not, one could miss out on many opportunities.
For example, one may find an opening for their dream job that they are qualified for, but the negative
credit report causes them to not get the job. Do not let this happen! Maintain a good credit report and
opportunities like this will not pass by!
People have become increasingly dependent on credit. Therefore, it s crucial that one understands

Lymphatic Filariasis Essay
While this infection does cause harm to the lymphatic system, it still affects the integumentary system
(skin). The skin and lymphatic system go hand in hand when this infection is present in the individual.
This is seen when the skin reacts to the decreased function of the lymphatic system due to the parasitic
worm. History of Lymphatic Filariasis
It is unknown of how or where this infectious disease (lymphatic filariasis) arouse. The first
documentation of lymphatic filariasis was not seen until an exploration that occurred in Goa during
the years 1588 to 1592. Ancient artifacts though have suggested that it could have been present in

Since lymphatic filariasis is not commonly found in America, this drug is no longer approved by the
FDA and can only be obtained by a physician if lab tests come back positive for the infection. When
the drug is administered, there is a 1 or 12 day treatment of DEC. This drug does not kill all adult
worms, but can prevent the infection from spreading. Areas that are at high risk for becoming affected
are treated through a process called preventive chemotherapy that uses 2 medicines: albendazole and
ivermectin (or in some cases DEC). This medicine combination clears all microfilariae from the
bloodstream and thus can prevent the further of transmission of this infectious disease. Other
treatments aside from taking DEC can be the following: washing the swollen area with soap and water
daily, elevate the affected area in order to improve lymph flow, and disinfect any wounds that may
arise by using antibacterial.
Present day research on Lymphatic Filariasis
Recent research shows the transmission of lymphatic filariasis in high risk populations has dropped by
43% since the start of GPELF. Before GPELF, 81 countries were deemed as being common for
lymphatic filariasis. From 2000 to 2013, over 5 billion treatments were delivered to a targeted

Campaign Contributions Of The Federal Election Campaign Act
Campaign contributions destroy the marketplace by expelling the views of average citizens in
exchange for the views of corporate donors that don t have the opportunity to have their views
scrutinized by the public. Their views are safe from criticism because they are able to shield their
views through backdoor talks with candidates. According Samuel Issacharoff, a professor of
Constitutional Law at the New York University of Law, in reference to political corruption, the source
of corruption was large expenditures capturing the marketplace of political ideas (Issacharoff). The
spread of ideas is essential to democracy and large donations to campaigns prevents ideas from
average citizens from being considered. The corruption from large corporations needs to be regulated
to allow for our democratic elections to be free and fair for everyone involved so that all suggestions
can be heard.
Congress tried to regulate this corruption by passing the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) of
1971. This act aimed to require campaigns to report all contributions and prevent direct campaign
contributions by corporations and unions. The act imposed contribution limits by corporations to
candidates. These limits fostered an environment where PACs or political action committees were
formed. The Federal Election Commission states, corporations and unions could use treasury funds to
establish, operate and solicit voluntary contributions for the organization s separate segregated fund

Breast Cancer And The Use Of Exercise As Medicine
An Overview of Breast Cancer and the Use of Exercise as Medicine
According to Moyer (2013), breast cancer is the most common non skin cancer in women ; this makes
breast cancer a relevant topic due to its impact among the female population (p.698). To put a number
to how many women breast cancer is estimated to effect in America, the American Cancer Society
(2014) has a statistics stating that every year over 200,000 American women are diagnosed with breast
cancer . With a relatively high number of women within America being diagnosed with breast cancer
it is important to gain knowledge about the disease. Not only is it important to increase our
information of breast cancer, but to improve our understanding of different treatments that ... Show

According to Cuppett and Walsh (2012), common areas where cancer of the breast originates are in
the breast ducts and lobules (p. 214). These two areas of the breast are involved in the movement of
milk to the nipple. Multiple lobules create a lobe which then transports breast milk to the ducts where
the milk then can be moved to the nipple (Cuppett Walsh, 2012). Also, Cuppett and Walsh discussed
that three major types of breast cancer are described on the basis of their location of origin and
histology (p.214). These three major types of breast cancer are lobular cancer, ductal cancer, and
inflammatory breast cancer (Cuppett Walsh, 2012). When diagnosed with breast cancer a patient may
have received a mammography or self examination.
Diagnosis
There are different signs that can indicate to an individual that they may have breast cancer. During
the self examination some signs are: nipple discharge, inverted nipple, change in shape or size of
breast, change in appearance of skin, or a lump/mass is felt during palpation (Cuppett Walsh, 2012,
p.216 217). Then during a mammography a mass maybe seen and this can indicate the location and
size of the tumor with the breast (Cuppett Walsh, 2012). Once the mass is seen then testing can be
down to tell what the tumor is consisting of which can then help with treatment options. The tumor
can be made up of estrogen hormone

Traumatic Experience Case Study
Possible Physiological Impacts And Changes In Brain Anatomy After Traumatic Experiences And
Possible Interventions
Brian Fendler
University of Hartford
Case Study of Traumatic Experience in an Adult
The case study was a case of a victim who had suffered from the traumatic experience and was then
under rehabilitation. The traumatic experience lasted for almost five years, during which the victim
was subjected to torture, humiliation and feeling of hopelessness. Furthermore, instances of pain and
feeling of being an outcast were rampant in the victim s life at the time. The experience was worsened
by the feeling of pain that was common in the victim s daily life. The traumatic experience occurred
when the victim was in his childhood years, in a social hall within his hometown.
The event of the traumatic experience was being taken hostage by terrorist while in a social hall.
During the hostage, the victim was left with no choice but to remain calm and obey orders of the
terrorist. The only way of coming out of the traumatic incident was a diplomatic approach through a
possible negotiation. The family member, on the other hand, showed a lot ... Show more content on

Indeed, it took time for the individual to get back to a normal state of mind and to live a healthy and
normal life. However, counseling and community support helped the victim and the patient share their
concerns with other members of the community leading to a successful recovery from the incident.
Similarly, civil societies, activist, non Governmental organizations and volunteers from all over the
country responded positively during the incident, providing support to the victims. Most of them
offered voluntary emergency services that were needed for the rescue of the victims, including blood
donations. Firefighters, ambulances and crisis counselors were also available to help the

Roxana As A Woman
By being a femme seule and being a mistress, although Roxana hates having to be a mistress because
she considers it immoral, Roxana was sexually liberated and had a job. Roxana had control over both
her body and finances once she was no longer married or indebted, as society saw it, to a man. These
two facts alone lead me to believe that Roxana can and should be considered an eighteenth century
feminist icon even though I believe she would have chosen a different vocation if she had had the
opportunity. In the article titled, I wou d be a Man Woman : Roxana s Amazonian Threat to the
Ideology of Marriage, author Shawn Lisa Maurer writes, Despite her powerful arguments for female
liberty, Roxana does not begin the novel as a fierce and independent woman. [...] Roxana is an
Amazon made rather than born. Not an inherent or inherited disposition but rather the harrowing
events of her early life a bad marriage, with subsequent bankruptcy and desertion have propelled her
(Maurer, 367). Roxana became a mistress due to circumstances beyond her control, and furthermore,
as Christina L. Healey points out in her article titled, A perfect Retreat indeed : Speculation,
Surveillance, and Space in Defoe s Roxana, The novel s focus on domestic spaces and figures women
who become the victims of bad business deals and who cope with their victimization by transforming
themselves into women of business links the nation s economic conditions and concerns with
domestic instability.

Carnival Cruise Research Paper
Welcome to the Carnival Cruise ship where you will take on the best cruise experience of your life the
Captain bellows out over the megaphone once more You will not want to leave this cruise ship. I reply
Yeah right, more like the worst cruise experience that I ve encountered. As my mother and I pull up to
the Port of Miami my heart almost leaps out of my chest with excitement. Iwas finally about to get on
my very first cruise ship ever. All the cruise ships were lined up in front of one another the ships were
massive in height and width they were the big things I ve witnessed all day. With a thrill in my voice I
yelled out to my mom Mom which Cruise ship are we boarding? she replies The one in the middle that
says Carnival Cruise Imagination , so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt like I was one of those awkward tourists that visited Florida for the first time and bought those
really tacky I love Florida shirts. The only difference was I was not loving the Carnival Imagination
Cruise, which takes me to my final worse cruise experience is when I found out that my passport was
in my lost luggage that the cruise line lost, so that meant that I couldn t get off the boat whenever the
shipped docked in a different county, boy was I over this cruise trip I was beyond ready to return back
to the Port of Miami to go home. After another three days out at sea we finally returned to the Port of
Miami to get off the massive ship that I thought I would enjoy. As soon as my mom and I were leading
towards the exit of the ship the Captain stopped us and explained to us that he had heard about my lost
luggage and my passport incident and he wanted to apologize for the inconvenience and he refunded
my money and he payed for my next Carnival cruise, at the end of the trip it wasn t that

Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play
With the title alone, it is easy to assume that Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play would not be a typical
play. Unlike other performances, Mr. Burns is not a simple narrative. Quite literally, it is a play within
a play. The narrative lacks structure due to how it stands as a social commentary on the importance of
entertainment to society. Mr. Burns began after what seems to be a traumatic event that has affected
everyone s way of life. From what we see as our survivors huddled around a campfire in the woods.
They recount a normalcy of how life used to be, an episode of The Simpsons. Throughout the recounts
on what happened in the episode Cape Feare , the play introduces a new character which gives
exposition to the current landscape of the United States. As the play continues into its second and third
act, there is a large shift on the scenery, lighting, etc. as the cast begins to recreate the episode of The
Simpsons which they discuss in the previous act. While it is easy to get lost on why everything is
happening, why they are performing, it comes to the central conflict of reclaiming normalcy of the
world which has past, an episode of television. As the performance goes on, the costume design
represents where our characters are at in their timeline. While, in the first act, the characters are
dressed in stereotypical post apocalyptic attire, it does vary in from what we are presented in the last
two acts. Around the campfire, the characters are dressed in

  • 2. Team Feedback Seeking Behavior ( Fsb ) Team Feedback seeking Behavior Feedback seeking behavior (FSB) refers to individuals search for evaluative information about their performance, internal processes and other behaviors for attaining valued goals (Crommelinck Anseel, 2013; De Stobbeleir, Ashford, Buyens, 2011). FSB is one of the proactive behaviors whereby individuals preemptively seek for feedback either by directly asking or indirectly observing cues in the environment to infer from them (Ashford, De Stobbeleir, Nujella, 2016). Accordingly, team FSB can be defined as team members collective search for evaluative information about the behavior and performance of individual teammates and the team as a whole (De Stobbeleir et al., 2011; Robison Weldon, 1993). Intrateam feedback involves team members providing information about other teammates performance and/or asking input or guidance about their own performance (Dickinson McIntyre, 1997). Team FSB constitutes goal oriented behavior where team members aim to improve their chances of attaining their valued objectives, such as skill development, improved performance, citizenship behavior, or creativity (Ashford et al., 2016; Crommelinck Anseel, 2013). Thus, contrary to the traditional belief that depicts feedback seeking as a strategy to conform to the requirements of the environment (Parker Collins, 2010), here feedback seeking is used as an individual and/or a team resource that can help individuals and teams to achieve a variety of outcomes ... • 3. Where Is The Narrator In The Cask Of Amontillado The narration is shifted from first to second person and back to first person in the beginnings of different novels in alternate chapters, and sometimes to third person. The author forces us, the readers, to take on the role of the Reader that makes me the main character of the story. The story unfolds more truths about myself and how I behave when I m about to read a novel, which literally messes with my brains by letting me believe that I m probably being watched as I read on. Calvino successfully kept me confused and curious throughout with his clever narration. I thought about why he chose to narrate in the way he does, and would he ever introduce himself. In chapter Without fear of wind or vertigo, on page 84 the narrator introduces himself as Alex Zinnober; and in the chapter Looks down in the gathering shadow, on page 107 he introduces his name as Ruedi the Swiss. The first name almost convinced me that Alex is the common narrator and that he sees himself in all the novels he reads one after the other. It was probably a farfetched and premature assumption I made, but it seemed valid until later when the name Ruedi appears. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Calvino challenges the notion of how a story is supposed to be told. I believe this novel teases upon (or actually is) the genre of metafiction wherein there are many stories within one story. The cliffhangers at the end of each novel reminded me of the episode The Closure Alternative in The Big Bang Theory, where Amy helps Sheldon with his closure obsession by never finishing anything they start. To ease this feeling, I really wish to see a winding up party at the end with all the characters introduced so far, somehow ending up overlapping each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Wife Of Martin Guerre Two short novels The Wife of Martin Guerre by Janet Lewis and Good Country People by Flannery O Conner have very different plots, however, many connections can be made between certain characters. A strong example of this would be Arnaud (posing as Martin), and Manley, two antagonists from each of the novels listed above, respectively. In Janet Lewis short novel The Wife of Martin Guerre the main character Bertrande is taken on an emotional roller coaster as her husband Martin doesn t return from a trip he promised would only be a week. Just as she is learning to embrace being the head of the household and a single mother, a man claiming to be the Martin who left her eight long years ago appears out of the blue, throwing her life and emotions into complete chaos. In Flannery O Conners short story Good Country People a woman named Hulga, who is unpleasant to the majority of people, is seduced by a young man, claiming to be nothing more than a simple country boy selling bibles. Later in these short stories, it is revealed that both of these men are not who they claim to be, and their lies caused rather dreadful repercussions. These two antagonists delude Hulga and Bertrande in their respective stories by enticing them with desirable amounts of knowledge and causing them to lose perception of reality by using manipulation throughout the entire plot. The amount of knowledge these two antagonists allowed to show was a major part in how they deceived the protagonists. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Morality and Character of King Henry V Essay examples Morality of King Henry V Throughout the five act in the play King Henry the V, King Henry shows his morality and character through many actions and decisions. King Henry is the most significant characte1r in the play and is known as the protagonist or hero. Henry uses his intelligence and leadership qualities through out the acts and also displays a sense of maturity from his youth days. We are told in the beginning of the play that King Henry used to be very immature, crazy, and not determined as a teenage boy. As we read in the play, King Henry has many speeches that were made to determine his English soldiers. For example, Henry refers to his soldiers as more closely impacted names like brother and friend. Henry speaks very sophisticated and pumps up his men to be just as eager to fight as he was. Most of Henry s speeches were uplifting and had a very happy and fierce tone to them, so not only he would display seriousness and also uplifting attitudes. Henry s speeches work magic on his soldiers and is a type of manipulation to work with the King to get what he wants. Even though manipulation is usually a harsh term, it is needed when it comes to fighting in a war! King Henry used his words very intelligently to push on the soldiers to fight for their mighty King Henry. One of the last qualities about King Henry that supports his morality was his intelligence. Through out the play King Henry had many big decisions whether it be to go to war, who to bring, when to go, and all these other conflicts. I believe that Henry used his intelligence in many positive ways. When King Henry was about to bring his troops in to fight France, he borrowed a cloak and dressed up as a soldier. I thought this was a very intelligent thing to do because he talked to the soldiers to find out what they were thinking and what was going through their mind. This was a very smart strategy because normally the soldiers wouldn t speak to the king like they would to each other. Instead of the lies and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States experienced both the Great Depression and harsh weather conditions during the 1930 s causing Americans to suffer through extreme hardship and impoverishment. Many of the migrant farmers were bankrupt, destitute, and struggled to survive. Photographer and photojournalist, Dorothea Lange, captured the dangerous conditions migrant workers and their families endured through her photograph, Migrant Mother. The photograph not only displays a woman and children suffering, but also reveals the determination and willpower the woman had to provide for her family. When initially looking at the iconic black and white photo, one sees a woman and two children. After closely examining the image, one sees the third child, an infant, being held by the woman. The woman is not looking directly at the camera, but the audience is able to see her gaze. The woman s eyebrows are furrowed causing her face to appear as worried with a look of desperation. Looking more meticulously at the woman, one will notice that she has a slight frown. The woman is able to show her stress by using her right hand to pull down slightly on her face. Aside from the woman, there are three children in the photograph. Two of the children are facing away from the camera with their heads rested on the woman s shoulder. The third child is an infant who seems to be sleeping while this photograph was taken. • 8. Analysis Of The Poem Hello, Morgana Hello, Morgana. A few hours before dawn, Arthur received word that Morgana was stirring, the last dose of belladonna finally wearing off. He wanted to be there when she woke, when she discovered where she was, to tell her himself what awaited her. A spiked bracelet engraved with archaic runes was now clasped on her forearm and locked by blood. His blood, and only he could release her from its bonds. Morgana sat on the cot, her head buried in her hands, wild hair spilling down her arms. She raised her head at his final approach on the other side of her cell bars with a group of faces known and unknown to her. Bloodshot eyes, haunted and confused, met his before the moment passed and the coldness returned upon recognition. She pulled herself to her feet with as much grace as her weakness would allow, slightly swaying in the balancing of her stance. I knew you had it in you, Arthur, she said with sarcastic pride, coming to stand before the rods of iron separating her from freedom. Uther would be proud of you. She presented her arm to him, tracks of crimson seeping from under the silver band, her lips twitching to force a crooked smile. The Hades Lock. Ancients told that no matter how powerful you were, once Hades put his hold on you, there was no escape from his realm unless he allowed it. I assume your blood sealed it. At the same time in And Then There Were None the protagonist is unclear because while Justice Wargrave is the one seeking justice, his methods are flawed. Agatha Christie uses mystery in both of her books to emphasize how the truth will come out in the end. It was a time in a man s life when there was an almost palpable sense of destiny, as if something was about to happen, like a rite of passage that will thrust him into adulthood or cement his badness forever. The story opens with our narrator on a night of debauchery with his friends drinking, eating, and cruising the streets as he had done so many times in the past. What he found on that night of violence and mayhem would force him to look at himself hard. This is a story of one man s journey from boyhood to maturity. (149) The tension this young man feels comes from his internal struggle to come to terms with what he is and what he is destined to become. The emphasis on his badness suggests that he is insecure in himself. The thorough thrashing he receives from Greasy Character is representational of the lack of control he has over his life. A truly bad man with greasy jeans has come to teach him there are consequences for the things he does. The narrator is both protagonist and antagonist because the main conflict is an internal one. The supporting characters, Digby, Jeff, and the girlfriend of Greasy Character are flat and static as are the two blonds and the hot rodder who arrived like a knight in shiny Trans Am. All that s left are the party girls and, of course, Al, the dead guy in the lake. While these characters are all flat and static they still contribute to the action and atmosphere of the story. It is composed in crosses of axons which may produce changes in the innervations of the upper limb muscles, mainly motor part of intrinsic muscles in the hand (MANNERFELT, 1966; KIMURA, MURPHY and VARDA, 1976). Anastomosis in which the branch anastomotic originates proximally in the median nerve and unites distally in the ulnar nerve is known as Median Ulnar anastomosis type or Martin Gruber anastomosis. Martin, a Swedish anatomist, in 1763 was the first one to consider the possibility of connection between the fascicles of the median and ulnar nerves in the forearm (MARTIN, 1763). It can arise between the branches destined to the deep flexor muscle of the fingers, or directly in the median to the ulnar nerve, or between the anterior interosseous and ulnar nerves or in combinations between these types of anastomoses (NAKASHIMA, 1993). However, another type of anastomosis can happen in the forearm. When the anastomotic branch originates proximally in ulnar nerve and unites distally to median nerve is simply called anastomosis of Median Ulnar type, or Martin Gruber reverse anastomosis or Marinacci anastomosis. Marinacci in 1964 made a case report of a patient who traumatized the medium nerve in forearm, but still had preservation of the median nerve innervations in the hand muscles, although had denervation of the flexor muscles in forearm (MARINACCI, 1964). The Marinacci anastomosis is infrequently notified. In some studies this type of anastomosis had not been found, being considered for many authors as anatomical anomaly. • 19. Lord Of The Flies Jack Is A Leader Analysis A powerful leader is one who knows how to lead with control and has strong leader characteristics. In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, some readers support the fact that Jack was a better leader than Ralph, but others feel that Ralph was the better leader. Although several supporters feel that Ralph is the best leader, it is evident that Jack is the better leader since he can effortlessly control the group on the island. It is clear that Jack is a better leader than Ralph because he is more of a demanding, manipulative person. From the time the boys landed on the island, Jack was in control of the choir. The other boys, led by Jack, run off in disorganized excitement to light the signal fire (Reilly, 3). This quote shows that the boys followed in Jack s footsteps since they set foot on the island. Along with controlling the choir, Jack challenged Ralph s opinions. We do not need the conch anymore. We know who ought to say things (Reilly, 4). This quote demonstrates that Jack is making an attempt to control the group by doing what is best for him, and he demands that the boys support his decisions. In addition, Jack s main priority was to hunt and give them what they want. The point is that Jack is doing what he wants, not what he ought (Reilly, 5). Soon he will catch up with himself in a great rear end collision. In both the film I Am Legend(2007) and Ray Bradbury s The Martian Chronicles the world has come to an end due to the destruction caused by mankind. In I Am Legend, Earth has been destroyed and mankind has been wiped out to extinction by a deadly man made virus that was meant to cure cancer. As shown in There Will Come Soft Rains , annihilations includes the obliteration of nature and our surroundings. To convey this message to the readers, Ray Bradbury makes a strategic use of the narrative elements: setting and figurative language. As the story begins, we learn that the house stood alone in a city of rubble and ashes. This was the one house left standing. At night the ruined city gave off a radioactive glow which could be seen for miles (Bradbury 167). From the start, we begin to see that everything in the vicinity of a town on Earth is destroyed except this damaged house still managing to function properly. Through the description of the setting, the readers start to get an idea of what it would be like if the world is destroyed by a radioactive bomb. On top of the house already been destroyed, we read that a falling tree bough crashed through the kitchen window. Cleaning solvent, bottled, shattered over the stove. The room was ablaze in an instant! (Bradbury 170). Strength concentrates more on quick and short spurts of energy. An example of how this component of fitness can be tested in an assessment is in the Upper body push and pull strength test . For this test the equipment used is a Strength Meter dynamometer. You have three tries when doing this test and the best of three is recorded for each test (the push and then the pull) and the dynamometer must be set to zero each time. When you think about speed you usually think its how fast someone can run but it s not just that, as it s also to do with their acceleration, maximal speed of movement and speed maintenance. This is because speed needs other components to help it move along in a rapid way, which includes: strength and power. An example of how this component of fitness can be tested in an assessment is the 100m Swim Time Trial . This test is used to measure the participant s ability to sprint swim a given distance, in this case 100m in a timed environment. • 25. Rousseau s Views On Private Property Henri Aleksi Vanhanen Midterm Exam 11.6.2015 PART A 1. The quote was made by Jean Jacques Rousseau (1712 1778) in his creation On Social Contract (1762) (Rousseau, Social Contract, 4). Rousseau s discourse on private property can be understood as a response to John Locke s theories regarding property and especially to Locke s labor theory and the government s role in it (assumption based on the similarity of their discourse). According to Locke s labor theory, a man s labor defines his right to own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 16) and that one of the government s top priorities is to guarantee inheritance of private property for those who have and own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 37). The theory also contains the aspect that one can own something if he improves it (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 15). In the concept of the society and government s duties Locke and Rousseau have different ideas. Locke states that the most important social contract is made between the people and that the government should not impose its grip upon things that the people are capable of solving together themselves (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 4). For Rousseau the state of nature is not a constant state of war (Rousseau, Social Contract, 4). This explains why Rousseau says that war cannot arise from personal relations. Rousseau s basic idea behind the quote is to state that the civilization s creation and idea of private property and division of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Causes Of The Long Parliament Long Parliament was called upon by Charles I, but technically Long Parliament created itself by imposing an act that would only allow parliament to be dissolved by a parliamentary vote. Long Parliament was being led by John Pym whose primary goal was to correct troubles in the kingdom, especially acts of treason because of the recent Bishops War. When considering potential acts of treason, it was speculated that Lord Strafford, who was a member of the King s Privy Council, had treasonous intentions. After investigating the situation, Pym s accusations fell through, but it did come to light that the King s Privy Council was encouraging Charles I to act without parliament. Specifically, Lord Strafford told the king Sir, you have now done your duty, and your subjects have failed theirs; and therefore, you are absolved from the rules of government... you have an army in Ireland, with which you may reduce this kingdom. Charles I was being encouraged to use Irish forces to remove parliament, in order to restore his power. This began the dispute between Long Parliament and Charles I, over who controlled the military, that began the English Civil war. Long Parliament implemented the Militia Ordinance, which declared that parliament was responsible for appointing new officers instead of the king. By the time Sir William Waller wrote to parliament Charles I and Long Parliament were deeper into war, and the Parliamentarians were quickly losing because of their militia system. Sir ... A legend, in contrast to folklore, is meant to inform and reinforce beliefs. Legends are less about fiction and the unbelievable, and more about the ordinary. The fairy legends in Ireland are abundant, as there are many different tales that describe fairies and their habits distinctly. A large portion of these legends have been told orally, so documenting them is difficult. In modern films and stories, such as Disney, fairies are generally portrayed as being kind and helpful to humans, but according to Irish legend, fairies are not always benevolent creatures. She has some bread and is sent off back home. Prior to leaving, she is given a coin to give to her widowed mother. It is said that from then onward, her mother was never wanting for money for the rest of her life. In another story called The Three Sneezes from the same source, a wife is almost taken by fairies at her wedding, but a man blessed her and she was safe aside from becoming deaf and dumb. When the same man later walked by a couple of fairies, he heard them tell him of a cure for the woman s deafness and dumbness. He found the herb, and the woman was cured and well once again. These tales might have been to give hope to those that were impoverished or ill. The good fortune given by fairies in these legends are reflective of human desire. Common themes of these types of legends include endless fortune, magical powers, particularly bountiful harvest or healthy livestock, and goods supplied mysteriously. However, although some dealings with fairies might lead to good fortune or health, some people chose to avoid these dealings due to the fact that fairies can be manipulative. Fairy gifts can be extraordinary, but taken away if the receiver does wrong by the fairies or breaks an agreement. One unfortunate tale of an Irish piper details this. The Irish piper overheard a beautiful fairy song, and was given the gift of playing the melody by this fairy. However, the fairy told him that he was only allowed to play it three times before a live audience. The piper obeyed the fairy s rule, until one night during a competition, he played the melody a fourth time in order to win. The instant he was crowned, he fell dead on the stage because of his ... These became known as the knights orders they followed to achieve greatness. The first recognized group of knights evolved during the Crusades. There was several different groups of them including the Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem, the Order of the Temple of Solomon, and the Order of St. Lazarus. While they were all considered knights each group had a different task and set of goals to accomplish. Not all of them fought in battles and saved princesses and kingdoms. The spread of ideas is essential to democracy and large donations to campaigns prevents ideas from average citizens from being considered. According to Cuppett and Walsh (2012), common areas where cancer of the breast originates are in the breast ducts and lobules (p. 214). These two areas of the breast are involved in the movement of milk to the nipple. Multiple lobules create a lobe which then transports breast milk to the ducts where the milk then can be moved to the nipple (Cuppett Walsh, 2012). Also, Cuppett and Walsh discussed that three major types of breast cancer are described on the basis of their location of origin and histology (p.214). These three major types of breast cancer are lobular cancer, ductal cancer, and inflammatory breast cancer (Cuppett Walsh, 2012). When diagnosed with breast cancer a patient may have received a mammography or self examination. Diagnosis There are different signs that can indicate to an individual that they may have breast cancer. During the self examination some signs are: nipple discharge, inverted nipple, change in shape or size of breast, change in appearance of skin, or a lump/mass is felt during palpation (Cuppett Walsh, 2012, p.216 217). • 45. Roxana As A Woman By being a femme seule and being a mistress, although Roxana hates having to be a mistress because she considers it immoral, Roxana was sexually liberated and had a job. Roxana had control over both her body and finances once she was no longer married or indebted, as society saw it, to a man. These two facts alone lead me to believe that Roxana can and should be considered an eighteenth century feminist icon even though I believe she would have chosen a different vocation if she had had the opportunity. In the article titled, I wou d be a Man Woman : Roxana s Amazonian Threat to the Ideology of Marriage, author Shawn Lisa Maurer writes, Despite her powerful arguments for female liberty, Roxana does not begin the novel as a fierce and independent woman. [...] Roxana is an Amazon made rather than born. Not an inherent or inherited disposition but rather the harrowing events of her early life a bad marriage, with subsequent bankruptcy and desertion have propelled her (Maurer, 367). Roxana became a mistress due to circumstances beyond her control, and furthermore, as Christina L. Healey points out in her article titled, A perfect Retreat indeed : Speculation, Surveillance, and Space in Defoe s Roxana, The novel s focus on domestic spaces and figures women who become the victims of bad business deals and who cope with their victimization by transforming themselves into women of business links the nation s economic conditions and concerns with domestic instability. ... • 47. Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play With the title alone, it is easy to assume that Mr. Burns, A Post Electric Play would not be a typical play. Unlike other performances, Mr. Burns is not a simple narrative. Quite literally, it is a play within a play. The narrative lacks structure due to how it stands as a social commentary on the importance of entertainment to society. Mr. Burns began after what seems to be a traumatic event that has affected everyone s way of life. From what we see as our survivors huddled around a campfire in the woods. They recount a normalcy of how life used to be, an episode of The Simpsons. Throughout the recounts on what happened in the episode Cape Feare , the play introduces a new character which gives exposition to the current landscape of the United States. As the play continues into its second and third act, there is a large shift on the scenery, lighting, etc. as the cast begins to recreate the episode of The Simpsons which they discuss in the previous act. While it is easy to get lost on why everything is happening, why they are performing, it comes to the central conflict of reclaiming normalcy of the world which has past, an episode of television. As the performance goes on, the costume design represents where our characters are at in their timeline. While, in the first act, the characters are dressed in stereotypical post apocalyptic attire, it does vary in from what we are presented in the last two acts. Around the campfire, the characters are dressed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
