Three Senators have proposed a legislation to help speed up the short sale process in order to prevent
foreclosures. The legislation known as the Prompt Notification of Short Sale Act will require that
lenders respond to the short sale request within 75 days after the request is submitted. The lender
should respond whether the request is accepted, declined, or to be extended and the approximate time
when a decision will be made. The lender will be limited to only one extension for a period of 21

3. Pros And Cons Of Vegetarianism
When any organism is still an infant, they fail to acknowledge societal norms and decision making,
but instead, only their genetic makeup dictates their actions. Therefore, many conclusions involving
inherent responses are drawn from experiments involving infants. For example, both a human baby
and a lion cub possess an innate sense of hunger, which drives them to seek out nutrition in order to
survive. When a hungry baby is placed in a crib with both a banana and a small rabbit (two sources of
food), it immediately responds by reaching for the banana to satiate this hunger sensation. Whereas, if
the lion cub, or any other animal designed to eat meat faces this situation, say sayonara to the rabbit.
This example, used by many vegetarian advocates, illustrates that at the core of our species, we are
designed to operate under a plant based diet. Of course, over the span of millions of years, humans
adapted to cater to changing environments, thus allowing for heavier protein diets. Still, we are
foundationally designed to eat more like vegetarians, with meat as a complement to this plant based
diet. In recent centuries, the reliance on meat as the main substance of our diets has surfaced. This
protein phenomenon causes many physiological issues in the human body due to the inability to
process this amount of meat. Based on evolutionary evidence, humans were intended to execute a
strictly plant based diet, but evolved over millions of years to allow for meat consumption.

4. Should A Truck Be Restricted Essay
Even though That the lifted trucks will be less likely to see small vehicles and therefore become more
likely to rear end them., they should not be restricted because it is basically telling a person that you

wealthy people because a higher lift would be more expensive causing that person to more likely have
insurance and lifted trucks will be more likely to be alert because they are driving a bigger truck. The
height of a person is not restricted, So why should the height of a person s truck be restricted? Cops
have pulled over trucks that are majorly big or huge and the cops treat them differently then they
would treat a regular car that got pulled over. A truck s height should not be restricted because that is
basically saying your truck can only be this high because it supposedly becomes a hazard when it is

5. Joseph Carens Aliens And Citizens Analysis
James Madison, fourth President of the United States, once said, America was indebted to immigration
for her settlement and prosperity . If we really think about it, everyone who is not Native American is
an immigrant (or has descended from an immigrant). In light of the prosperity of the United States
today, to which immigrants have contributed in no small amount, it is interesting to think about Joseph
Carens idea of open borders.
In Aliens and Citizens: The Case for Open Borders, Carens argues that people should be allowed to
migrate from their home country to some other state, especially citizens of third world countries
immigrating to more developed nations. In his argument, he makes use of his interpretation of three

The ability to change a flat tire is a skill everyone needs to have. You end up getting a flat tire while

When most people think of extreme sports, they think of adrenaline junkies and risk takers, and this is
simply not the case. While most people against extreme sports turn a blind eye to the medical benefits
and the stereotypes put on participants, good things can come out of these activities. These gains

grow safely and successfully into adulthood and become the leaders of our next generation. The Turn
2 Foundation promotes the American Dream to kids and students because the foundation teaches kids

Work hard and never make excuses. (Izaguirre 2). The road to achieving the American Dream is
difficult and long one and Derek Jeter s Turn 2 Foundation promotes all the ideas necessary to doing
it.
The Jeter s Leaders program was designed to promote key principles of the Turn 2 Foundation and
achieve their goals. Some of the Turn 2 Foundation s principles include, morality, being trustworthy,
and leading by example which is preached to the Jeter s Leaders throughout their journey. The goals
that have been developed through the Jeter s leaders include the promotion of a healthy lifestyle,
succeeding academically, and giving the leaders experiences that will help them develop into adults
and professional leaders when they go into college and onwards. This is where the American Dream
plays in because the American Dream is defined as the equal opportunity for every American to
succeed through hard work. Since the Turn 2 Foundation promotes these ideals to the Jeter s Leaders,
they are taught how to succeed later in life. The Jeter s leaders are promoted all of these ideas through
various different projects that give the students an initiative to work hard for their communities and

times. You have to be dedicated to whatever sport you are doing, whether you messed up on the field

10. What Does The Clock Symbolize In The Masque Of The Red Death
Benjamin Franklin once said, In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.
This quote is proven true in many pieces of American Literature from past to present. In Edgar Allan
Poe s, The Masque of the Red Death, the ebony clock, the last chamber, and the masked figure are
used as symbols to represent the uncontrollable outcome of human life and exemplify the words of
Benjamin Franklin. Throughout the work, Poe employs a seemingly simple ebony clock to symbolize
the destined time of life, which no one can control. The clock is first introduced by describing the
pendulum s dull, heavy, monotonous clang , which automatically gives the idea that the clock is
oppressive and evokes fear in both the readers and guests (Poe). As the story goes on, the
characteristics of the clock unfold even more and reveal the emotions and actions it suggests. For

11. The Bet By Anton Chekhov
A short story s purpose is to introduce an idea or moral to the reader. In many cases the reader can
understand the thesis, but there will be times where the reader is uncertain. The reason for this is
because the short story s moral is profound ironically. Ultimately the reader is able to relate to him or
herself in the short story various ways. Likewise the use of irony in, The Bet by Anton Chekhov,
illustrates the characters and their opposing speculations that demonstrate the importance of human
life and confinement. Relating to the thesis of the short story, there are three main points that irony
plays a key role on. To begin with, there are the two main character s roles that guide the reader
though both perspectives of their conflicts. There are also main points in their dialect and involvement
that Chekhov used to help the reader understand the character s ironic speculations.
The characters from the short story, through the flashback of the banker, show his most successful
years and the young lawyer both in a dilemma. Eventually the dilemma came in conclusion to Fifteen?
Done! cried the banker. Gentlemen, I stake two millions! (Chekhov, Anton). This seems usual for a bet
with the lawyer and the banker. The average individual, when thinking of a banker, presume that they
are people that save money and not put it in risk of it all token away. Likewise in The Bet, within the

12. Recombinant Dna Techniques Essay
In this experiment, individuals were able to use recombinant DNA techniques such as cloning to alter
the DNA of a certain strain of yeast called Saccharomyces Cerevisiae. By the use of cloning, scientists
are able to analyze and compare the genetic material of a specific organism to another. In this lab, the
recombinant DNA techniques are used to transform AmpS E. Coli to AmpR E. Coli. This was done by
using an insert, a vector, and a host. The insert was S. Cerevisiae genomic DNA, E. Coli plasmid was
the vector, and E. Coli was the host. The technique of gel electrophoresis was also used to determine
whether the DNA was cut or not with restriction enzymes. Uncut sequences of the DNA were sent to
an outside laboratory for sequencing. Then when the sequencing was complete, computer programs,
such as BLAST, were used to determine whether or not the genomic insert originates from a gene and
if the yeast codes for a protein that could be found within the human genome. Introduction
Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, more commonly known as baker s yeast or brewer s yeast, is very
favorable to use in biotechnology because of the wide range of environmental conditions it could live
in. S. Cerevisiae is capable to live from freezing temperatures to about 55◦C, proliferate from 12◦C to

Furthermore, a long time ago an oracle told Laius a story that supposedly his own son would kill him,
yet results came in and said he and Jocasta gave their monthly old son of a shepherd to leave on a
hillside to die with a pin between its ankles. However, he was killed by three robbers not by his own
son, one of Jocasta proofs that the oracle was wrong. Something about her story puts Oedipus into
trouble, she said that Laius was killed at an intersection where three roads meet, which reminds
Oedipus of an incident that happened in the past. Furthermore, when he killed a stranger at an
intersection where three roads met, he then asks her to describe Laius, and her details match his

which he swore that robbers killed him. Oedipus then witnesses and interrogates them. However,
Jocasta helps him to be the bigger and better person. While Jocasta and Oedipus wait for the man to

17. 18th Century Music
During the 18th century, music was used as a social enhancement on the rising middle class who
showed interest in intellectual ideals of Enlightenment. The rising middle class were people who
would come between the working class and the upper class. Such as craftsman, bankers, and
merchants. These select few decided that since they can now afford some of life s pleasures, that they
would spend it on music that aristocrats and nobility would listen to. While on the other hand, during
the 19th century, music began to develop a more story base theme with a moral lesson. Such as Ballets
and Grand Operas. So basically, during the 18th 19th century, music has evolved from just sound or
noise to a elegant and graceful story played through musical notation with different musical
instruments while advancing the growth of the middle class.
To begin with , the 18th century was the Classical era. In which music had order, symmetry, and
formal restraint. Composers such as Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig
van Beethoven began creating music that pulled away from music that was mainly created for
churches. This secular music they created became entertainment for the aristocrats and the nobility. A
composer by the name of Johann Stamitz organized one of preliminary forms of the classical
orchestra. This orchestra consisted of the string section, the woodwind section, the brass section, and
the percussion section. The largest of the orchestra was called a symphony.

The drive Simon possessed was magnified through his years of school and his progression through the

drive. These are just a few of the characteristics Simon possessed in addition to being a good
communicator and being able to inspire trust.
In addition to possessing these leadership skills, Simon also possessed the skills necessary to motivate
his employees to perform at their highest capacity. A recurring employee complaint was the
ambiguous nature of company goals. The case tells us that in order to alleviate this, Simon set simple
goals which were achievable in the short term so that employees could see their progress. Not only
was this a way to enhance employees commitment to goals but it also helped reward the employees in
timely manner. Simon also had the ability to empower his employees to achieve as he was described
as having a sophisticated and unique talent for guiding people without them really knowing he is

All of the examples mentioned above worked well for Simon because he was able to excite employees
and get them all working toward the same goal. By doing this he changed the culture of BP and in
time improved overall company performance. Although Simon did great things for BP, his approach

20. Discipline Is Vital To Parenting In Ray Bradbury s The Veldt
Discipline is Vital to Parenting In today s society, parents that do not discipline their children are
perceived as nonchalant, or carefree. Ray Bradbury, an acclaimed writer, disagrees with this concept.
Instead, Bradbury would say that discipline is a vital component of parenting, and without it, children
will commit awful acts. With the use of foreshadowing and allusion in his short story, The Veldt ,
Bradbury depicts that a lack of discipline leads to horrendous, potentially deadly consequences.
Bradbury foreshadows the parents fatal deaths to develop the repercussions they face for not
disciplining Wendy and Peter. For instance, after the Hadleys have dinner, the parents head to the
nursery and find George s old wallet with drops of saliva and blood smears on both sides (Bradbury
8). The disturbing state George and Lydia find the wallet in hints that something is wrong with the
nursery and that the virtual animals can affect real life objects. Bradbury also adds the following
dialogue between the parents: Those screams they sound familiar. Do they? Yes, awfully (9). The two
screams Mr. and Mrs. Hadley heard were strikingly familiar because they were their own screams,
hinting that the children wanted them dead and that the lions in the nursery were going to kill them.
Throughout The Veldt , the parents hardly discipline their children, or care for them, causing the
children to despise them and develop a rotten character. Had the parents properly ruled

the plot of his novel. One character in particular, Dr. Alexandre Manette, has one of the most
complexly developed and dynamic minds in all of literature. Observing the changes in his unstable
psychological state during the beginning, middle, and end of the novel displays a more complex
reasoning behind his actions.
At the beginning of the novel, Manette is a man who has recently been released from an unjust

despair. Because only his basic needs are being fulfilled, Manette begins to slow lose his grip on his
own mind as he descends into madness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Manette follows him and attempts to save him when he is arrested. As a former prisoner of Bastille,
Manette is idolized by the patriots in France and is immediately a respected figure among the
revolutionaries. He attempts to use this influence to get Charles out of prison, and for the first time in
the novel, Manette seems to have all of his needs met. He is finally able to provide for himself and
others Manette can effectively work towards self actualization. He actually manages to get Charles out
of his first trial, but Charles is arrested later that night, and despite his best efforts Manette cannot do
anything to rescue him. This causes Manette to return a broken man, as he feels all of the newfound
esteem and love slipping away from him. He asks for his workbench and shoes back, which reveals
that he has never truly recovered from his past. However, Charles manages to escape execution and

22. The Uk And London Are The Home Of Global Menswear
1. Introduction
Britain, the UK and London are the home of global menswear
(Menswear: British Fashion is GREAT, 2004, 6:41) Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British
Fashion Council stated in a video to promote and celebrate British Menswear.
London, as the capital of the United Kingdom and often used synonymous as representing the country
as whole, is regarded by many as the capital of menswear, claiming to have invented several items
crucial for contemporary Western menswear and the long standing tailoring tradition of Savile Row.
As the statement above, London is also a pivotal point for fashion. Ironically, both are often referred
to separately. Menswear contains more than the fickle, superficial phenomenon of fashion as it is ...

After giving a brief introduction about how dress can be and is applied to fuel and represent nationalist
sentiments in relation to gender, I outline what has been interpreted as Britishness in dress and its use
in the fashion industry. In the last chapter, I return to the exhibition in the Museum of London and
critically analyze its conception.
2. Dressing a nation
Nations, despite their localization in certain geographical and geopolitical territories, are always
imagined communities because national boundaries do not necessarily coincide with ethnic and
cultural identities of all members of a nation. Due to nations artificial construction they are subject to
constant formation and change. To [foster] a sense of identification (Kaiser, 2012, p.52) within such a
conglomerate of multiple identities of its inhabitants, often certain forms of dress are introduced and
used to create and establish coherence and uniformity within the nation and difference to other nations
(ibid p.52f).
2.a National femininity
With dress employed as a way to express and strengthen national identification of its inhabitants many
nations chose rural, traditional , ethnic or peasant attire, perceived as unchanging and static, as a most
appropriate representative (ibid. p.53).
Especially in the aftermath of colonialism in the

23. Analysis Of The Movie Farewell My Concubine
Beyond the Storyline: How the Play Farewell My Concubine Enhanced the Movie
In 1977, two performers came to a stadium to rehearse Farewell My Concubine, one of the most
classical and well known Peking Opera plays. The play narrated a romantic yet tragic story between
the king of Chu and the concubine Yu Ji: when the king was defeated by the eventual founder of the
Han Dynasty, he asked Yu Ji to flee for the sake of her own safety. While Yu Ji refused to leave the
king alone, she performed the very last time for the king and cut her throat with his sword, being
faithful to him until death. Although entitled with the same name, Chen Kaige s film directed in 1993
was well beyond a love story. The film frequently referred to the play Farewell My Concubine;
however, it advanced the play in depicting China s mid 20th history, conveying values to audiences,
and hinting characters relationships.
The movie took us back to the Warlord Era when Xiaodozi was sent to a Peking Opera troupe. He had
gender confusion due to his Dan training that required the roleplaying of a feminine character and thus
developed an intimate relationship with his friend, Xiaoshitou, who performed a masculine character.
Years later, both students became stars by performing the play Farewell My Concubine together and
went by their stage names, Cheng Dieyi (Leslie Cheung) and Duan Xiaolou (Zhang Fengyi)
respectively. On stage, they were inseparable companions, and in a sense, so are the two friends.

24. Eu And Non Eu Nations Essay
On 23rd of June 2016, a slight majority of citizens of the United Kingdom voted to leave the European
Union. This historical event was called Brexit (abbreviation for British Exit), and the news has shaken
the world, brought anxiety about the future of the United Kingdom. It will particularly influence
international trade, due to the point that one of the most significant role of EU is encouraging free
trade among its members. Also, trade contracts signed between EU and non EU nations applied to all
EU members, and UK has been largely benefited by them. The proportion of trade with EU are
enormous: ranging from 38 percent to 49 percent for import, and 49 percent to 55 percent for export in
2015, respectively (HM Revenue and Customs, 2016). However, since UK will no longer be a
member of the EU, she has to renegotiate with EU and also other nations. It is fairly possible that the
UK will not be able to sustain its strong position in international society once it loses advantages of
belonging to EU. This essay will demonstrate various influences Brexit will have on the UK s
international trade relations and effects on the business growth of each industry: primary, secondary,
and tertiary.
Primary industry
Influence of Brexit will be crucial for primary industries such as agriculture, and oil and gas
production, and these negative effects will weaken its voice in international trade negotiation. Firstly,
the main trade partner of agricultural goods for the UK are EU members in

26. The Island William Clarke Analysis
Prologue:
On the 20th of September, 1783, a family set out to sea. They were leaving their home in the new
USA, to return to what they considered their mother country, Great Britain. Throughout the ship s first
week out to sea, the sea was calm, with a good wind. However this soon changed. The family s second
out of four sons turned twelve on the 27th, exactly one week after they put to sea. On that day, the
weather took a turn for the worse. The boy was the first of passengers to notice the change when he
went up on deck, he noticed that something didn t feel right. He felt like there was some sort of
change in pressure. He rushed back to his parents to tell them what he had noticed. They didn t know
what to say, and didn t want to bother the crew.

Hospital patients are often fearful and confused and these feelings may impede recovery. Every effort
should be made to make the hospital stay as unthreatening, comfortable, and stress free as possible.
The interior designer plays a major role in this effort to create a therapeutic environment. A hospital s
interior design should be based on a comprehensive understanding of the facility s mission and its
patient profile. The characteristics of the patient profile will determine the degree to which the interior
design should address aging, loss of visual acuity, other physical and mental disabilities, and
abusiveness (WBDG, 2010).
Some important aspects of creating a therapeutic interior are: * Using familiar and culturally relevant
materials wherever consistent with sanitation and other functional needs. Using cheerful and varied
colors and textures, keeping in mind that some colors are inappropriate and can interfere with provider
assessments of patients pallor and skin tones, disorient older or impaired patients, or agitate patients
and staff, particularly some psychiatric patients (WBDG, 2010). * Admitting ample natural light
wherever feasible and using color corrected lighting in interior spaces which closely approximates
natural daylight * Providing views of the outdoors from every patient bed, and elsewhere wherever
possible; photo murals of nature scenes are helpful where outdoor views are not available * Designing

When you have free time, you can clean your car. There is no better smell of a clean car. There are
many steps to cleaning a car but in the end, it is worth it. The first step to cleaning your car is to clean
everything out. You want to clean out anything that belongs inside of your house. For example, a
bookbag, makeup, clothes, or anything else you have in your car. Next, clean out all the garbage. You
may have plastic bags, food wrappers, or old papers that can be thrown out. You also might want to
take any change out of your car into your piggy bank. After you clean everything out of your car, you
need to get a shop vacuum. Take all of the floor mats out of your car and vacuum them until they are

Efficient Embedded Learning for IoT Devices
Submitted by: Rohan N. Dhamdhere, rnd7528@g.rit.edu
I. Introduction
The Internet of Things (IoT) helps us sense meaningful data from the physical world. In recent years,
its ability to sense the data has increased tremendously, which increases the prospects of IoT
applications useful to humans. Machine learning will play a big part to help IoT derive sense from raw
data and deliver useful information.
A simple quantitative analysis is done on two broad categories of applications a smart glass that uses a
deep learning network to perform real time recognition on video stream that it captures, and a server
cluster that trains the model associated with the deep network. The analysis showed differences
between the computational capabilities of current systems and the needs levied by these application
cases. The authors hypothesize that deep learning will be one of the important part of the computing
platforms and will be extensively deployed. The Paper discusses the following potential procedures to
improve the efficiency of deep learning for embedded computing systems accelerators for deep
learning, approximate computing and neuromorphic circuits based on emerging post CMOS devices.

30. Summary Of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep
Throughout Philip K. Dick s Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? we see the main character, Rick
Deckard become steadily more empathetic towards the androids. However, the crux of this change in
his perspective is observed in his attempt to kill Luba Luft and the turmoil he feels afterwards. In Dick
s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep Luba Luft is one of the most human androids of the story and
it is this trait that makes it so hard for Rick to kill her. She acts just as a young girl would, exhibiting
innocence and naivety. This is observed in how absorbed 2. fig. Having one s attention fully or
intensely engaged in; captivated, engrossed (OED online, 2) she is in the painting, puberty . Luba is
taking part in the inherently human act of enjoying art so much so that she is absorbed in the picture
before her (122), not even noticing the two bounty hunters set to kill her. The vulnerability exhibited
by Luba through these actions is mirrored in the painting she is so engrossed in: a drawing of a young
girl, hands clasped together, seated on the edge of a bed, an expression of bewildered wonder and new,
groping awe imprinted on the face (122). The girl in the painting is nude and undergoing Puberty , a
vulnerable stage in a young girl s life in which she becomes a woman; Luba is attempting to undergo
her own puberty , trying to transition into becoming a human being and not just another android. Rick
s changing views on androids is not only illustrated by his growing empathy towards them but also in
how he thinks of them. He begins to associate human traits with them seeing them more as people
than objects. This new view of androids is contrasted to Phil Resch s view of them when he attempts
to murder Luba and Rick tries to persuade him not to. Phil continually refers to Luba and other
androids as it (124), objectifying them. To Phil, the androids are not people at all: they are objects.
Whereas Rick refers to Luba as her (122), this difference in pronouns illustrates that Rick sees Luba as
a human being. Rick s behaviour towards Luba and androids in general has changed

Healthcare is important because everyone will need to use it at some point during their lifetime, so
they can continue living their happy healthy life. Telemedicine allows adequate healthcare to be
spread around the globe through the use of technology. If a person lives in an urban area of a country
this allows them to have access to healthcare causing the use of telemedicine to be unnecessary. There
are people across the globe, in rural parts of a country or in an underdeveloped country, who don t
have immediate access to healthcare. With the use of telemedicine these people can access quality
healthcare from different doctors from around the world.

According to Dr. Evans Mupela in his article Telemedicine in Primary Health: The Virtual Doctor
Project Zambia the Lundazi District is split by the Luanwaga River meaning that areas in the western
part of the Lundazi District get cut off and isolated during the rainy season and the river overflows.
The people living in these areas most often suffer from Respiratory Tract Infections, Pregnancy
Complications, Tuberculosis, Malaria, HIV/AIDS and other diseases. Due to the limited amount of
health care and the shortage of trained medical workers these diseases unfortunately sometimes lead to
death. Due to unnavigable roads the journey to a clinic or hospital can often take several days by foot
or bicycle even for the healthy. Early diagnosis and consistent treatment would greatly increase the
chances of recovery and with telemedicine this is possible. Dr. Mupela defines telemedicine as the use
of ICTs for the delivery of health care. The goal is to make telemedicine into a mobile clinic. The
mobile clinic is planned to travel between a number of different villages in four wheel drive vehicles
specifically supplied with the correct technologies for the purpose of setting up short term clinics for
several days at a time. Using simple testing equipment and medical supplies brought by the mobile
clinic, it will offer a health care service done by the staff, with support available

If a certain individual were to interrogate a select person about what they do during their free time,
their answer would probably be something between the lines of using the internet and anything else
related to it, because let s face it, our race has evolved into a technology dependent specie. The rise of
the internet has given way to more opportunities especially in the entertainment category which
resulted in more people turning to the internet and away from TV and movies. According to the 2011
Edelman Value, Engagement and Trust in the Era of Social Entertainment Survey, 56% of U.S.
citizens agreed that they frequently accessed the internet more than several years ago and 49% use it
just for the purpose of passing time. Not only are their interests shifting from traditional forms of
entertainment to digital media, but 68% claim that entertainment quality has spiraled down and doesn
t appease their enjoyment as much anymore (Smith, 2011).
